- 0:01Speaker 1: Hey, what up, boxing fans. This is the Ropodope Radio podcast.
- 0:06Speaker 1: I am your host, Chris Carlson. We are live on
- 0:09Speaker 1: a Tuesday night. If you can believe that, I can hardly.
- 0:14Speaker 1: I can hardly believe it. Anyway, man, you know, we've
- 0:19Speaker 1: had a gap in time basically since like oh sick Fury.
- 0:25Speaker 1: You know, there's been some fights, no doubt, like I
- 0:28Speaker 1: mentioned on the previous show, but we've had a little little,
- 0:34Speaker 1: well like a large gap. But I'm refreshed as a
- 0:37Speaker 1: boxing fan. Like I said, I was ready for this weekend.
- 0:42Speaker 1: We'll talk a little bit about Pacheco and Nelson and
- 0:45Speaker 1: Andy Cruz and ar Nesto Mercado and anyway, who's up next.
- 0:49Speaker 1: It sounds like in April he's fighting in the US.
- 0:54Speaker 1: It still does us. It does seem like he's gonna,
- 0:58Speaker 1: you know, stay at one twenty two, maybe by the
- 1:04Speaker 1: end of the year go to two one twenty six.
- 1:06Speaker 1: I'm not sure, but it just it kind of feels
- 1:10Speaker 1: like the Nakatani fights just not gonna happen. Now. We
- 1:14Speaker 1: got all excited for it when they were talking about
- 1:18Speaker 1: it last year. Anyway, we have a hell of a
- 1:22Speaker 1: fight coming up benevite is versus Morale, not to mention
- 1:28Speaker 1: Fulton figure out with a rematch along with the rest
- 1:33Speaker 1: of that PBC on Amazon pay per view card. Along
- 1:36Speaker 1: with the prelimbs, we'll talk about the weekend preview and predicted. Man,
- 1:43Speaker 1: I'm really looking forward to this fight. Really looking forward
- 1:46Speaker 1: to this fight. You know, there's been a lot of
- 1:49Speaker 1: talk about it. You know, when we were talking about
- 1:52Speaker 1: it maybe like a year, a year and a half,
- 1:54Speaker 1: two years ago, most people were like, just bring this
- 2:00Speaker 1: fight on, like David Morrell's ready for it. And then
- 2:05Speaker 1: now it seems like people are like, oh, he's too green. Yeah,
- 2:08Speaker 1: he's too green. You know. But I remember talking about
- 2:13Speaker 1: this with multiple people on spaces and messages and it's
- 2:17Speaker 1: just on Twitter or whatever saying that. You know, I've
- 2:20Speaker 1: always been pretty like steady with David Burrell needs quality rounds,
- 2:28Speaker 1: kind of like his last fight. Even though you know,
- 2:31Speaker 1: a lot of people looked at that negatively, I looked
- 2:35Speaker 1: at it from a positive. But yeah, he went from
- 2:38Speaker 1: like he's ready to fight, make the fight to now
- 2:41Speaker 1: he's too green, he's not ready for it. So I did.
- 2:44Speaker 1: I do find that a little funny because, like I said,
- 2:48Speaker 1: people would try to shut me down talking about it
- 2:51Speaker 1: like it No, he's not. He's ready for it. Let's
- 2:53Speaker 1: just make the fight. It's like, hey, I'm down to
- 2:55Speaker 1: make the fight. But I still thought even a year ago,
- 3:00Speaker 1: two years ago, that Morell needed better competition to have
- 3:05Speaker 1: like the best chance at beating Benevetez. His style that
- 3:10Speaker 1: he can bring, like the game frant game plan, excuse me,
- 3:13Speaker 1: the strategy, the handspeed, the power, the movement. Hopefully you know,
- 3:21Speaker 1: he's not just headhunting. So yeah, let's hope that he uh,
- 3:28Speaker 1: you know, gets his his stuff together because you know,
- 3:35Speaker 1: or keeps this stuff together. I should say, you know,
- 3:38Speaker 1: let's hope that he could stick to a game plan
- 3:41Speaker 1: because I did think, you know, he probably learned a
- 3:44Speaker 1: lot in that last fight, and he definitely needed to
- 3:47Speaker 1: go to the body. He definitely needed to mix it up.
- 3:51Speaker 1: But we'll see, we'll see. So yeah, and then you know,
- 3:55Speaker 1: we have some some current fight news in boxing Twitter
- 3:58Speaker 1: and all that to get to as well. We're gonna
- 4:01Speaker 1: have John on the show tonight. You should be uh
- 4:05Speaker 1: calling in in just a short little bit. If this
- 4:08Speaker 1: is your first time listening to the Rope It Up

- 5:31Speaker 1: I told you guys, it was gonna be gone. Hopefully
- 5:33Speaker 1: you can take advantage of it. But the new thing
- 5:36Speaker 1: they're talking about on direct TV stream is the My
- 5:40Speaker 1: Sports Beta get it on, you know on the football playoffs.
- 5:46Speaker 1: It's for a limited time for the first three months
- 5:48Speaker 1: forty nine per month. That entertainment package starts at eighty
- 5:54Speaker 1: six ninety nine per month if you want to go
- 5:57Speaker 1: to the Choice that includes a fan duel which you
- 6:00Speaker 1: to be Bally's one fourteen ninety nine per month, and
- 6:03Speaker 1: then the Ultimate which features over one hundred and sixty
- 6:06Speaker 1: channels one twenty nine ninety nine per month. Okay, so
- 6:16Speaker 1: you know I thought Diego Pichecko, you know, I thought
- 6:23Speaker 1: he looked pretty damn good. But I didn't. I don't
- 6:29Speaker 1: think it was a great performance, right. I think he
- 6:32Speaker 1: may have, let you know, left a little something on
- 6:35Speaker 1: the table, just barely, but I did. I don't know
- 6:39Speaker 1: if how complete it was, but he really, you know,
- 6:43Speaker 1: it took him a little bit. I like this fight
- 6:45Speaker 1: for him. I figured Nelson in the early goings would
- 6:49Speaker 1: give him something to think about, and in the first
- 6:52Speaker 1: four rounds it could have easily been two to two. Now,
- 6:57Speaker 1: maybe he had Pachecko three to one, maybe had Nelson
- 7:00Speaker 1: three to one, but either way, it was close. I
- 7:04Speaker 1: did notice Nelson right away trying to push Pacheck go back.
- 7:11Speaker 1: I think Pachecko won the first round based off like
- 7:14Speaker 1: a late jab right hand type of stuff where he
- 7:18Speaker 1: kind of just stole around. I gave the second in
- 7:21Speaker 1: the third to Nelson. Those jabs to the stomach, we're
- 7:27Speaker 1: doing the trick for me anyway, decent lands kind of late.
- 7:31Speaker 1: There was like a nice left hook to go along
- 7:35Speaker 1: with jabs for Pacheck go a nice counter right. It
- 7:38Speaker 1: was kind of a slower round. I did notice Nelson
- 7:44Speaker 1: as he was coming forward using his jab. It wasn't
- 7:49Speaker 1: you know, it wasn't landing as clean as it you know,
- 7:54Speaker 1: I thought it would, and that was kind of the
- 7:57Speaker 1: problem as the fight went on, but he was using
- 8:01Speaker 1: a lot of head and upper body movement and for
- 8:05Speaker 1: a while there, at least still say round five, Pachecko
- 8:08Speaker 1: wasn't really able to land all that lean on that
- 8:13Speaker 1: third round. A few nice shots late the fourth round,
- 8:17Speaker 1: once again Nelson bringing pressure and movement. He's kind of
- 8:22Speaker 1: mixing it up. He did get cut in that round.
- 8:26Speaker 1: It looked kind of bad, but he was okay, and
- 8:32Speaker 1: I thought the jab was landing pretty well for for Nelson.
- 8:35Speaker 1: In the fourth round, Pachecko a late left hook, a
- 8:40Speaker 1: few nice lands in that round, But like I said,
- 8:42Speaker 1: two to two, three to one, I wouldn't say Pacheco
- 8:46Speaker 1: three to one. If I was gonna pick anyone three
- 8:49Speaker 1: to one, it would have been Nelson, But two and
- 8:52Speaker 1: two would have been fine. But then after that, you know,
- 8:56Speaker 1: that's where it was starting to get hard to give
- 9:01Speaker 1: more realms to Nelson. Pachecko from the fifth really to
- 9:06Speaker 1: the close, I thought he took over the fight. You know,
- 9:10Speaker 1: early in the fifth round, Nelson was doing pretty good,
- 9:12Speaker 1: but midway through the round that jab and a couple
- 9:15Speaker 1: of power shots, you know, Pacheco started cutting out the
- 9:20Speaker 1: ring better. The sixth round, jabs, multiple clean shots, there
- 9:25Speaker 1: was a nice uppercut. He started to land that uppercut,
- 9:27Speaker 1: or at least throw it and then ultimately start landing it.
- 9:32Speaker 1: And then as the fight wore on, it's just Nelson
- 9:37Speaker 1: wasn't landing much of consequence, you know, it just just
- 9:40Speaker 1: wasn't wasn't really doing it. Pacheco seventy seconds into the
- 9:43Speaker 1: round really letting off some hard, flush shots. The jab
- 9:48Speaker 1: the hooks, you know, uppercuts really doing his thing. Same
- 9:56Speaker 1: with the eighth round, early thudding right hands, big left hooks.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Like I said, he really started to open up on them.
- 10:04Speaker 1: In the ninth round it was a tas slower. Pachecko
- 10:08Speaker 1: I thought, still had the better lands. The tenth round
- 10:13Speaker 1: a right hand definitely wobbled Nelson. He showed pretty good
- 10:17Speaker 1: recoup skills and in that eleventh round just unloading shots.
- 10:23Speaker 1: A few hard body punches as well. The last last
- 10:29Speaker 1: few rounds really the ninth, tenth, and eleventh is when
- 10:32Speaker 1: he started going on the body. I did think Nelson,
- 10:35Speaker 1: though in the eleventh, had a good round all things considered.
- 10:40Speaker 1: You know, he was landing right hands, left hooks, jabs.
- 10:44Speaker 1: But in the twelfth round a left hook rock Pachecko
- 10:49Speaker 1: pretty well, and a few more right hands to go
- 10:53Speaker 1: along with it. It was a great round. There was
- 10:55Speaker 1: a counter left by Pachecko with maybe thirty or four
- 11:00Speaker 1: forty seconds left something like that that was big. Maybe
- 11:03Speaker 1: he gave Nelson that last round, maybe a dent I
- 11:05Speaker 1: could have seen that, but that would have been the
- 11:08Speaker 1: first round since the fifth that I would have personally
- 11:10Speaker 1: given up. All three scorecards were at one, seventeen one eleven.
- 11:16Speaker 1: You know, I thought it was gonna be right in
- 11:19Speaker 1: that eight to four range. Like I said, Nelson gave
- 11:22Speaker 1: something to think about early in that fight, Like I said,
- 11:26Speaker 1: that upper body movement, mixing in the pressure with a
- 11:31Speaker 1: little bit of movement with his feet in like I
- 11:33Speaker 1: mentioned his upper body in his head. But once the
- 11:37Speaker 1: checko was able to cut the ring off land his jab,
- 11:41Speaker 1: then he started to open up a clean shot. So overall,
- 11:44Speaker 1: I thought it was a good performance, very good in spots.
- 11:48Speaker 1: I thought he looked great at times, but I still
- 11:52Speaker 1: kind of feel like he left a little bit something there.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Maybe it would be, you know, someone just pushing them
- 12:02Speaker 1: to get there. Maybe not though, you know, but yeah, Nelson,
- 12:08Speaker 1: you know, he definitely like gave a good account for himself,
- 12:11Speaker 1: especially in the first half, and then that that eleventh
- 12:14Speaker 1: to twelfth round. It was one of those fights that
- 12:17Speaker 1: got better as the fight went on. But yeah, overall
- 12:21Speaker 1: I liked what I saw. A Pachecko, I wouldn't step
- 12:25Speaker 1: them up that quick or that high, I guess you
- 12:29Speaker 1: could say. Now, I'm not saying he needs five fights
- 12:33Speaker 1: before he could face anybody in the top few, you know,
- 12:37Speaker 1: but I do think like I hear like, well, Canelo
- 12:41Speaker 1: needs the opponent, Pachecko Canelo, and I'm just cleterally. You know,
- 12:47Speaker 1: if you're Pachecko, you know you take the payday. I
- 12:52Speaker 1: totally understand. I wouldn't rip him for taking the fight,
- 12:54Speaker 1: don't get me wrong, and of course his manager would
- 12:58Speaker 1: want that too. But you know, like if he could
- 13:03Speaker 1: like Berlanga, if he could fight Berlanga some of these
- 13:07Speaker 1: other guys, I think it would it would help him
- 13:09Speaker 1: because he's he's just right there. And I kind of
- 13:13Speaker 1: feel like as he climbs up in skill level as
- 13:20Speaker 1: far as the opponent power or whatever, I do feel
- 13:24Speaker 1: like he's just gonna keep raising his game. Now maybe
- 13:29Speaker 1: we've seen what he is and maybe when he does
- 13:33Speaker 1: get to a higher level it'll look like the first
- 13:37Speaker 1: five rounds could be you never know, but yeah, I
- 13:44Speaker 1: hate to like, I don't think there's much to rip
- 13:46Speaker 1: when it comes to this at all, or be critical,
- 13:49Speaker 1: not necessarily just rip, but yeah, I just I just
- 13:54Speaker 1: feel like it was good. It was a good outing,
- 13:56Speaker 1: you know, very good outing at times. So I am,
- 14:01Speaker 1: you know, I am anticipating his next fight. We'll see
- 14:05Speaker 1: who it ends up. Nelson obviously, his age, you know,
- 14:09Speaker 1: dampers things a little bit. You never want to take
- 14:13Speaker 1: a guy you know, make too much of and take
- 14:17Speaker 1: a guy completely out of your rankings or whatever, you know.
- 14:23Speaker 1: With one loss, it was a fairly clean loss. One
- 14:26Speaker 1: and two it was just so many arm punches, you know,
- 14:31Speaker 1: it just didn't feel like Nelson could let his stuff
- 14:34Speaker 1: go all the way. And there was just too many
- 14:38Speaker 1: times in the middle till late in the fight except
- 14:41Speaker 1: the eleventh, twelfth, it just felt like his punches didn't
- 14:45Speaker 1: have a whole lot on him. Mercado Padraza. Mercado looked great,
- 14:52Speaker 1: landing the jab, going to the body early with hooks,
- 14:55Speaker 1: especially left hooks, and Padraza not able to land anything jabs.
- 15:04Speaker 1: In the second round, that right hand landed to the head,
- 15:07Speaker 1: in the body. He was just fighting that range, circling
- 15:12Speaker 1: his opponent, moving subtly, but landing clean, clean shots. And
- 15:16Speaker 1: I'd say in the fourth round there was probably three
- 15:20Speaker 1: two punch combos. I didn't count them, but I'd say
- 15:24Speaker 1: about three maybe four, and it just dropped him and
- 15:29Speaker 1: Pedraza was getting up, so I do think he could
- 15:33Speaker 1: have continued, but he is at that age where and
- 15:38Speaker 1: I would say the combination of knowing he's taken some
- 15:41Speaker 1: punishment and then also how he got up. You know,
- 15:45Speaker 1: he was down there for a while and hey, you
- 15:47Speaker 1: have to like eight or whatever, and then you want
- 15:50Speaker 1: to start getting up. You don't want to. We've seen that,
- 15:53Speaker 1: you know, throughout a year. You'll see that from time
- 15:56Speaker 1: to time, where a fighter will try to plan it
- 15:59Speaker 1: and start to rise at nine. It's like, nah, dude,
- 16:01Speaker 1: you're not gonna do that. But back to Padraza, it
- 16:04Speaker 1: just felt like, I don't know, it kind of felt
- 16:08Speaker 1: like he wasn't gonna get up, you know, and he did.
- 16:11Speaker 1: The ref called it off and he did shake his
- 16:13Speaker 1: head like, ah, come on, let me go. But honestly,
- 16:17Speaker 1: I'm not saying he quit. Okay, I personally don't have
- 16:21Speaker 1: a problem with with fighters quitting, but unless you're gonna
- 16:25Speaker 1: talk a bunch of shit and he quit, you know,
- 16:27Speaker 1: Billy Joe Saunders. But you know, I I thought he
- 16:33Speaker 1: was done. There was really no point. I guess you
- 16:37Speaker 1: could say no point in that fight in general, but
- 16:42Speaker 1: you know, that's boxing. You know, if he would have
- 16:44Speaker 1: had a couple of good rounds, people would have been
- 16:49Speaker 1: going on the other side of it and be like,
- 16:51Speaker 1: Ernesto is not that good or you know what I mean.
- 16:53Speaker 1: So I hope Padraza does shut it down. Though I
- 16:58Speaker 1: do have to admit he's had a really good careers,
- 17:03Speaker 1: really solid career, so I think it's probably time to
- 17:06Speaker 1: hang him up. You know, he hasn't had a win
- 17:09Speaker 1: in quite a while. And to his you know, to
- 17:12Speaker 1: his credit, it's not like he's fighting no one's or
- 17:15Speaker 1: something like that. He could go out and get wins,
- 17:17Speaker 1: but he is challenging himself, that's for sure. And he
- 17:21Speaker 1: Cruz versus Omar uh Soalsado cl Satobo by that. Uh,
- 17:29Speaker 1: the first let's say two three rounds, he was jabbing well,
- 17:33Speaker 1: he was just slightly moving. The left hook was big
- 17:38Speaker 1: for him throughout the fight, but especially those first couple
- 17:40Speaker 1: of rounds established it definitely targeting the head in the body.
- 17:46Speaker 1: And you know, fourth, fifth round Salsado cl Sato. Why
- 17:51Speaker 1: do I keep saying that Celsato he just wasn't landing
- 17:56Speaker 1: much of substance, you know, where his crew was letting
- 18:00Speaker 1: off some hard shots. There was a late uppercutting that
- 18:03Speaker 1: fourth round, fifth round, early right hands hooks took more
- 18:09Speaker 1: hooks to the body and then a late left hook.
- 18:12Speaker 1: I thought, really that was good from so Sado, you know.
- 18:18Speaker 1: To me, the fifth round was definitely like his round,
- 18:22Speaker 1: landing good shots. Six and seven, definitely more two way stuff. Actually,
- 18:31Speaker 1: I thought that Cruz landed a huge right hand, multiple
- 18:36Speaker 1: hard shots though both fifth and sixth. Sorry, the sixth
- 18:40Speaker 1: and seventh round that was competitive. That was like the
- 18:42Speaker 1: most competitive part of the fight really, the up jab,
- 18:48Speaker 1: the short right hands, the flesh left hooks by Cruise
- 18:52Speaker 1: was starting to kind of pull away from it, and
- 18:56Speaker 1: Cruse definitely hurt him in the last part of the
- 18:59Speaker 1: tenth round. So, you know, Cruse's style kind of turns
- 19:06Speaker 1: people off, you know. To me, I still think he
- 19:12Speaker 1: throws with authority. It's not like he's I didn't find
- 19:17Speaker 1: like I thought some people were a little hyper critical
- 19:21Speaker 1: of it. It's one thing to be critical. It's one
- 19:23Speaker 1: thing not that like someone's fight style. It's one thing
- 19:25Speaker 1: to say certain you know, things about a certain round
- 19:30Speaker 1: where he thought he could pick up the pace and
- 19:33Speaker 1: I thought he could have picked up the pace. I mean,
- 19:35Speaker 1: he was landing flush, But so say that to me,
- 19:41Speaker 1: you know, in those middle and late rounds actually showed
- 19:45Speaker 1: why he was there, you know, so I didn't have
- 19:48Speaker 1: a problem with it. I would have liked to see
- 19:50Speaker 1: him step up a little more earlier, because when he did,
- 19:55Speaker 1: he had him buzzed, I think, pretty much hurt. Maybe
- 20:00Speaker 1: just buzzed, hurt whatever, you know, to close that fight.
- 20:05Speaker 1: So Cruise. The thing is, you know we're talking five fights,
- 20:09Speaker 1: you know, so this is a really good opponent for him.
- 20:15Speaker 1: You know, we've seen a little bit more excitable styles
- 20:19Speaker 1: from a Cuba of late rather than you know what
- 20:25Speaker 1: they get kind of pigeontoed into, kind of stereotyped into.
- 20:29Speaker 1: And you know, at times it's for an exact reason why,
- 20:34Speaker 1: because they're they're they're in the amateurs so long that
- 20:39Speaker 1: it's hard to get that out of their system. Whereas
- 20:41Speaker 1: you look at a David Morell, you look at some
- 20:43Speaker 1: of these other guys when they get out, when they're
- 20:45Speaker 1: out of this, they still have plenty of fights in
- 20:47Speaker 1: the amateurs, but they get out early enough that tends
- 20:51Speaker 1: to change things around. But still, I liked what I
- 20:54Speaker 1: saw out of Andy Cruz with that level of opponent,
- 20:57Speaker 1: and uh, it'll be interesting to see where he goes
- 21:01Speaker 1: after this. I do want to go ahead. I will
- 21:04Speaker 1: talk a little bit about some other fights from the weekend.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Like I said, Anyway took care of business. There's not
- 21:12Speaker 1: a whole lot to say about that fight. But it
- 21:16Speaker 1: is like, what are his next fights? Because they say that,
- 21:19Speaker 1: you know, there's a possibility that he can fight two
- 21:22Speaker 1: more times or maybe three, but no matter what, he's
- 21:26Speaker 1: for sure he's already got one, so he'll he'll get
- 21:28Speaker 1: one in April, and then maybe maybe two more after that,
- 21:32Speaker 1: maybe just one. But yeah, the Nakazani, like I've been
- 21:35Speaker 1: saying lately, it just feels like the Nakatsani fight, it's
- 21:40Speaker 1: like not even on the on the scope anymore. For
- 21:44Speaker 1: some reason, I don't I don't get it. I know
- 21:48Speaker 1: a while back, Anyway was saying that he wants him
- 21:51Speaker 1: to accomplish more or something, but that doesn't really make
- 21:54Speaker 1: sense based off some of the guys he's fighting. Some
- 21:59Speaker 1: of them have been solid, some of them whatever. It's
- 22:02Speaker 1: not like they're you know, super accomplished or something like that. Obviously,
- 22:09Speaker 1: this dude just had no hope. But even the guy
- 22:12Speaker 1: he was fighting, it's like he's a good fighter, he's
- 22:14Speaker 1: pretty good. But I don't see what Knakatani would have
- 22:19Speaker 1: to prove to get the fight. So we'll see if
- 22:22Speaker 1: that fight. Because the thing is, and John, I'm about
- 22:26Speaker 1: to get you in here a second. The thing is,
- 22:28Speaker 1: it's like, if you go to twenty six, then he's
- 22:33Speaker 1: got to go, you know. Then it's like, once he
- 22:35Speaker 1: goes to twenty six, we might as well start lining
- 22:38Speaker 1: up him and Bam to fight then. Not that that's
- 22:41Speaker 1: a shitty fight, but you know, Bam returned back to
- 22:45Speaker 1: the smaller weight class, you know, so maybe he'll keep
- 22:48Speaker 1: going up. I don't know, but I don't know. I
- 22:52Speaker 1: just I was really excited about that type of a
- 22:55Speaker 1: fight because of the high level of skill, speed, accuracy.
- 23:00Speaker 1: It just straight up knock you the you know what
- 23:03Speaker 1: out power. It just makes so much sense to make
- 23:07Speaker 1: that fight. But it just seems like it's kind of
- 23:11Speaker 1: falling by the wayside. I don't know, it's kind of weird.
- 23:14Speaker 1: All right, I'm gonna go ahead and bring in Sean here.
- 23:21Speaker 1: It'll just be a second. Here, you pop in in
- 23:24Speaker 1: just a second, let me get my screen ready. What
- 23:27Speaker 1: the heck? Okay, there we go. All right, what's going on? John?
- 23:33Speaker 1: How you doing?
- 23:33Speaker 2: Chris? How's it going? Good to see you here in
- 23:36Speaker 2: that twenty five.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Yeah, man, how's how is everything? I'm doing good. I've
- 23:41Speaker 1: been doing really good, just kind of you know, trying
- 23:46Speaker 1: to get as much stuff possible or done as possible.
- 23:49Speaker 1: I'm very productive in the winter because you know, there's
- 23:52Speaker 1: not a whole lot to do, especially of late. I mean,
- 23:54Speaker 1: it's warm right now, but it was about five days
- 23:58Speaker 1: ago it hit like Nega at eighteen.
- 24:02Speaker 2: I agree with you. I tend to get more in
- 24:04Speaker 2: the winter done that way too, and I was It's
- 24:07Speaker 2: kind of funny how that went for me. I was
- 24:09Speaker 2: in New Jersey, and even though the weather can run
- 24:12Speaker 2: somewhat somewhere, it would normally be running older in New
- 24:14Speaker 2: Jersey than West Virginia this time of year. But I
- 24:18Speaker 2: shifted to I shifted to West Virginia right right when
- 24:23Speaker 2: biggest snowstorm in years come down here. Then a couple
- 24:28Speaker 2: more came and it got cold as it's been down
- 24:31Speaker 2: here for years. Yeah, I track it out of curiosity.
- 24:35Speaker 2: Was colder and snowier than New Jersey, which which has
- 24:39Speaker 2: gone on. But I got to say, in some of
- 24:43Speaker 2: the beauty of West Virginia with the snows, it just
- 24:45Speaker 2: stayed on the mountains and probably it was as nice
- 24:49Speaker 2: in my opinion, because I never mind winter it was
- 24:51Speaker 2: about it was about as nice as I've ever seen
- 24:54Speaker 2: it down here in my opinion. Just it just looked
- 24:58Speaker 2: like you were like a winter wonderland, winter wonderland living
- 25:03Speaker 2: on a ski resort for three So I'm still down
- 25:08Speaker 2: down West Virginia heading New Jersey next week. But today
- 25:13Speaker 2: was one of the first days it warmed up a little,
- 25:15Speaker 2: so we didn't it didn't have the minus eighteen, but
- 25:18Speaker 2: below zero a couple of times.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Yeah, And I love that when it's like that thick
- 25:25Speaker 1: snow that stays on the trees, it's like it's hard
- 25:28Speaker 1: to explain, but it's when you see it, it's just
- 25:30Speaker 1: it is something else. It's crazy. A bunch of the South,
- 25:35Speaker 1: even Houston had more snow in January than we have here.
- 25:40Speaker 1: Back to back years now, we haven't had barely any snow.
- 25:45Speaker 1: We've had the cold this year. Last year we really
- 25:48Speaker 1: didn't have much cold. It was just a mild you know,
- 25:50Speaker 1: the warmest one we ever had for winter. But this
- 25:53Speaker 1: year we are we're just kind of going up and down.
- 25:56Speaker 1: You know, it'll hit twenty thirty degrees something and then
- 25:59Speaker 1: it'll drop back down. To go up and down, but
- 26:02Speaker 1: for whatever reason we can't. I mean, we can't even
- 26:05Speaker 1: get a three four inch snow. It's it's crazy, man.
- 26:09Speaker 2: Yeah, Jersey not quite getting as much as they normally do.
- 26:13Speaker 2: They got they got some, but that that's what has
- 26:16Speaker 2: been weird about this because in terms of real cold
- 26:20Speaker 2: with a lot of snow, it seemed west it seemed
- 26:25Speaker 2: so far this winter that that West Virginia had had
- 26:29Speaker 2: that as much as everybody. But which brought me back
- 26:33Speaker 2: to a lot of memories of a lot of old
- 26:35Speaker 2: winters in New Jersey. And as you're correctly, of course
- 26:38Speaker 2: you're you're in Minnesota, so you always get to see
- 26:41Speaker 2: more of that. But yeah, it's just exactly like you
- 26:44Speaker 2: described that, that snow staying on the trees, and then
- 26:48Speaker 2: the mountain and stuff was when it was just frozen
- 26:51Speaker 2: and staying there, and the ice. It's a totally totally
- 26:54Speaker 2: different look, it really is.
- 26:56Speaker 1: I can't wait till that happens here. Supposedly this weekend
- 27:00Speaker 1: it's gonna happen. But I remember last year we didn't
- 27:02Speaker 1: get one to like Valentine's Day, but it was that
- 27:05Speaker 1: type of snow and me and a buddy just went
- 27:07Speaker 1: out and walked for like an hour just looking around.
- 27:10Speaker 1: You know, it was at night. It was just like
- 27:12Speaker 1: pitchersqu So yeah, well we'll see Supposedly on the weekend,
- 27:17Speaker 1: we're supposed to get some.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Stuff, so you'll be having that. But I'm just coming
- 27:21Speaker 2: I'm just coming through a not a three week period
- 27:25Speaker 2: of that. But I mean it ended up being enjoyable.
- 27:29Speaker 2: Had to make provisions. It has been so cold, but
- 27:32Speaker 2: day after day what you're used to all the time.
- 27:34Speaker 2: Right on one of the days it started, it did
- 27:38Speaker 2: remind me of the last time I was in Minneapolis. Yeah,
- 27:42Speaker 2: it's eight degrees out here during Like, I don't think
- 27:45Speaker 2: I've hit that since I was in Minneapolis for a
- 27:47Speaker 2: deposition about fifteen years ago.
- 27:49Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that's I mean, we had a i think
- 27:52Speaker 1: three straight days or four straight days where we didn't
- 27:54Speaker 1: even give above zero for the high you know.
- 27:57Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the that's the difference that nobody's touching. Nobody
- 28:01Speaker 2: else is touching that well.
- 28:02Speaker 1: But once you get to thirty two or something, you're like,
- 28:05Speaker 1: oh my god, it's hot in here. You know, It's
- 28:08Speaker 1: it's really funny how that works. So let's talk about obviously,
- 28:13Speaker 1: you know, the battle of the David's is coming up,
- 28:17Speaker 1: the co feature Fulton Figueroa. Where are both of them
- 28:20Speaker 1: in their career right now? That's gonna be that's part
- 28:22Speaker 1: of the intrigue. Great first fight, but it's also like, hmm,
- 28:26Speaker 1: who's more on it right now? It'd be kind of
- 28:29Speaker 1: interesting to see that. But before we get to that stuff,
- 28:35Speaker 1: what'd you think of last weekends? You know, we had
- 28:37Speaker 1: Anti Cruz, we had Mercado, we had a Pacheco going
- 28:42Speaker 1: against Nelson kind of break down. What you what you
- 28:46Speaker 1: thought of last weekend as far as some fights that
- 28:49Speaker 1: you saw.
- 28:50Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I'm glad we're actually talking about this week
- 28:54Speaker 2: coming up because this last weekend, I mean nothing, nothing's
- 29:01Speaker 2: jumped out at me this year.
- 29:02Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, it's been a desert.
- 29:04Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, Dalton Smith got a win over somebody
- 29:09Speaker 2: who was for him was a no hoper, but you know,
- 29:11Speaker 2: he's up and down, but but he is pretty good.
- 29:14Speaker 2: So I wanted to mention him because you know, he
- 29:17Speaker 2: does have some legitimate power and you know, he showed
- 29:22Speaker 2: at least it would hold even though a z Apaida
- 29:24Speaker 2: was passed his best. You know that that was a
- 29:27Speaker 2: that was a big step up. For him, and he
- 29:29Speaker 2: did it there. So with him being action, I caught
- 29:31Speaker 2: him mind me, but Checko, I mean I'm not saying
- 29:34Speaker 2: he's bad, and you know Nelson's okay, But to Checko
- 29:41Speaker 2: for the whole career so far, for me, he's nothing's
- 29:45Speaker 2: really jumped out at me. And you know he ended
- 29:47Speaker 2: up going the distance in this one with someone. You know,
- 29:52Speaker 2: it does tie in for me. I mean, he's seventeen
- 29:54Speaker 2: weight classes weight way too many to me, so I
- 29:59Speaker 2: hesitate to say like one sixty eight. I mean, you
- 30:02Speaker 2: know he could do something, but he's he's just he's
- 30:06Speaker 2: not He's not one of my favorites in terms of,
- 30:09Speaker 2: you know, what I feel like the ultimate upside is
- 30:12Speaker 2: and what he brings. Right, Nothing this weekend changed my
- 30:16Speaker 2: mind about that. You know, even though he got a
- 30:18Speaker 2: you know, this decision win, that's just kind of where
- 30:22Speaker 2: I've been with him and that hasn't changed for me.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Yeah, it's funny. It's funny that you say, I do
- 30:29Speaker 1: I like how you put that, because you know, the
- 30:32Speaker 1: last baby year it has calmed on him. He had
- 30:35Speaker 1: that ten rounder where he didn't look all that good
- 30:40Speaker 1: because there was a lot of hype for him. Right away,
- 30:42Speaker 1: you know, because Chris just knocking people out. But you
- 30:45Speaker 1: know that early knockout stuff, you know, sometimes it means
- 30:49Speaker 1: some nothing, sometimes it means something. But yeah, it's like
- 30:54Speaker 1: I thought he looked very good, but you know, there's
- 30:57Speaker 1: like a it's kind of like it's hard to I'm
- 31:02Speaker 1: not being critical of him, you know, I just think
- 31:05Speaker 1: I'm kind of like where you're at, where I'm like,
- 31:07Speaker 1: it's kind of a wait and see. I still think
- 31:09Speaker 1: he needs a couple more fights to see if he
- 31:12Speaker 1: could raise his level, because in those first five.
- 31:15Speaker 3: Rounds, some somewhat basic circling him upper body and head movement,
- 31:24Speaker 3: some jabs, it was kind of.
- 31:26Speaker 1: Bugging him and he couldn't he couldn't really get off
- 31:28Speaker 1: there for a second. Then he then he started to
- 31:30Speaker 1: get together. But like you said, Nelson, you know, his
- 31:34Speaker 1: punches really didn't didn't have much on him, you know,
- 31:38Speaker 1: after that first five rounds, and I just wonder, like,
- 31:42Speaker 1: how higher can he go? You know? As far as yeah,
- 31:47Speaker 1: I hear people saying he should fight canlo next? I'm like, yeah,
- 31:49Speaker 1: if you want to get paid, that's cool. But other
- 31:51Speaker 1: than that, I'm not pumped for the fight, you know.
- 31:53Speaker 2: Exactly right, And that's the way I would look at
- 31:55Speaker 2: that one too, right, if he wants to get a payday,
- 31:57Speaker 2: and you know there's people rather have Canelo fight, right,
- 32:02Speaker 2: that's for sure. You know, a guy like Pacheco, which
- 32:06Speaker 2: you haven't seen, like you'd like to see him fighting
- 32:11Speaker 2: somebody somewhat better and then he gets a big ko
- 32:14Speaker 2: or something like that that like with and you know,
- 32:17Speaker 2: really his opposition hasn't really even been on the whole
- 32:21Speaker 2: that good yet. I mean he's been he's been around
- 32:23Speaker 2: for a while now, even though he's a young fighter. Yeah,
- 32:26Speaker 2: so like nothing like that's ever really jumped at me yet.
- 32:30Speaker 2: There have been some fights where he's looked pretty good
- 32:32Speaker 2: to me, but he's never gotten me real excited and
- 32:36Speaker 2: that just just hasn't changed for me.
- 32:39Speaker 1: Yeah, no, that's fair. What about what do you think
- 32:42Speaker 1: of Ernesto Mercado one and two? Andy Kruz? Where are
- 32:48Speaker 1: you out with Andy Kruz right now? Because you know
- 32:52Speaker 1: he has that amateur preedigore that we all know about.
- 32:56Speaker 1: Where do you stand in his fight style? Do you
- 32:59Speaker 1: think he could press more? Do you think it's somewhere
- 33:02Speaker 1: in between or it's not too it's not boring, boring,
- 33:05Speaker 1: but it feels like you could do more. Where do
- 33:07Speaker 1: you standing?
- 33:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I feels like this, you know, when I think
- 33:10Speaker 2: of how he was in his first couple of fights,
- 33:13Speaker 2: I know what you're saying, and I agree, Like even
- 33:16Speaker 2: though you know he's not some like natural press forward
- 33:20Speaker 2: knockout artists or brawler, and he's never gonna fight like that,
- 33:23Speaker 2: and you wouldn't expect it with his amateur pedigree, right,
- 33:26Speaker 2: but even when he didn't get a stoppage very early,
- 33:29Speaker 2: considering he was fighting decent opposition right from turning pro,
- 33:35Speaker 2: which we both agreed, Hey, with a guy with that pedigree,
- 33:37Speaker 2: we'd like to see more of it. But then I
- 33:41Speaker 2: agree kind of with what you're getting at, like it
- 33:44Speaker 2: seemed like it leveled off where, Yeah, I started getting
- 33:47Speaker 2: disappointed even though he hasn't had that many fights, where
- 33:49Speaker 2: I'm like, you know, he should be getting rid of
- 33:52Speaker 2: these kind of guys quicker if he's what we think
- 33:55Speaker 2: he is, and you just haven't been seeing that as
- 34:00Speaker 2: much as you would like to, at least I would
- 34:02Speaker 2: from a guy like him, So that has caused me
- 34:06Speaker 2: to have some pause. But yeah, you know, hasn't had
- 34:10Speaker 2: that many pro fights. I don't think a lot of
- 34:13Speaker 2: these are necessary, like I keep saying, And at least
- 34:15Speaker 2: he at least very early on, moved quicker. But you know,
- 34:23Speaker 2: i'd like to you would like to see at his
- 34:25Speaker 2: talent level, you know, him him disposing of some people
- 34:31Speaker 2: easier than he than he has been or quicker than
- 34:34Speaker 2: he has been.
- 34:35Speaker 1: Right, yeah, No, And like I was saying, you can
- 34:38Speaker 1: you know, once he did that, you know, he had
- 34:41Speaker 1: him hurt pretty good, you know, And had he done
- 34:43Speaker 1: that a couple of rounds earlier, you know, he probably
- 34:45Speaker 1: would have had the guy out of there. So and
- 34:47Speaker 1: that dude's a good he's a good fighter that he's facing.
- 34:49Speaker 1: But yeah, it's it's weird because you know, he doesn't
- 34:54Speaker 1: have many fights. That was this fifth fight or whatever.
- 34:56Speaker 1: So back to that hyper critical thing, It's like, I
- 35:03Speaker 1: don't know, I'm kind of with you where I don't
- 35:05Speaker 1: really think he needs to wait till the fifteenth fight
- 35:09Speaker 1: or anything like that.
- 35:12Speaker 2: With a lot of guys, a lot of these guys,
- 35:15Speaker 2: it's been my feeling at the sport in general. And yeah,
- 35:19Speaker 2: I feel I'm right about it. It's going to stay
- 35:22Speaker 2: with it. Yet, you know, when hern looked like he
- 35:25Speaker 2: was going to move him real real quick. I was
- 35:28Speaker 2: excited about it, like, yeah, this is a good example,
- 35:30Speaker 2: and he looked good. But yeah, now it's like with
- 35:33Speaker 2: who he's fighting, it's I know it's only a few fights,
- 35:36Speaker 2: but still it's not that kind of movement. And a
- 35:40Speaker 2: lot of these fights, a lot of these fighters, it's
- 35:42Speaker 2: just you know, there's there's too many, too many fights
- 35:46Speaker 2: with the lesser opposition that they that they really don't need.
- 35:49Speaker 2: And like you've put it a few times, which is
- 35:51Speaker 2: the truth. And there's a couple of more aggressive matchmakers
- 35:55Speaker 2: that I've even heard say it. Not too many of
- 35:58Speaker 2: them because you don't see it that much. But like, look,
- 36:00Speaker 2: we need to find in other words, we might as
- 36:02Speaker 2: well find out now, you know, like we don't have
- 36:04Speaker 2: to have the guy on ESPN Plus or on his own.
- 36:08Speaker 2: We're nobody seeing it against fifteen no hopers, and then
- 36:12Speaker 2: we find out.
- 36:14Speaker 1: That he didn't have it and he didn't have any hope.
- 36:15Speaker 2: Yeah he didn't have it. Anyway, Yeah, let's step it
- 36:19Speaker 2: up and find out, find out what we got and
- 36:23Speaker 2: then if if you don't, you don't think you don't
- 36:26Speaker 2: think the fighter has it, I mean, you don't have
- 36:27Speaker 2: to drop him, but right, yeah, that doesn't have to
- 36:31Speaker 2: get the prime sponsor or anything like that.
- 36:34Speaker 1: Right, Yeah. What about our nest though, Mercado, What do
- 36:37Speaker 1: you think of him as a fighter?
- 36:39Speaker 2: I haven't gotten it, didn't get to see him, haven't
- 36:42Speaker 2: haven't seen him that much yet, so right, not going
- 36:47Speaker 2: to pass, not going to pass any judgment yet on Mercado.
- 36:52Speaker 1: Yeah, pretty much the whole way. I've liked what I've seen.
- 36:57Speaker 1: They've kept him fairly active. You know. The Padraza thing,
- 37:03Speaker 1: it's just kind of misleading right now, because Padraza just
- 37:07Speaker 1: looked how he is. He's just shot, you know, he's
- 37:10Speaker 1: just done. And even when he got up, it was
- 37:14Speaker 1: almost like do I want to get up? You know,
- 37:16Speaker 1: you can kind of see his body language. Uh, And
- 37:19Speaker 1: he did get to his feet and stuff. I respect that,
- 37:21Speaker 1: but you could see he was just kind of in there.
- 37:24Speaker 1: And if you're getting knocked out this quick against a
- 37:28Speaker 1: guy who just turned into a contender, you might as
- 37:31Speaker 1: well hang him up at this point. But yeah, he's
- 37:35Speaker 1: he's a good young fighter, and he works the body
- 37:37Speaker 1: really well. You know, he's a good I like I
- 37:41Speaker 1: like him, I like him a lot. I'm pretty high
- 37:43Speaker 1: on him actually any other items from from the weekend,
- 37:48Speaker 1: because yeah, I mean, ever since that that Usik Fury fight,
- 37:52Speaker 1: we've had this large gap that the the Japanese New
- 37:55Speaker 1: Year fight got called off, you know, and it's like
- 37:58Speaker 1: we just had this long where there's been little highlights
- 38:01Speaker 1: here and fights there. But it is nice to get
- 38:05Speaker 1: back in the swing of thing. I'm I'm like, you know,
- 38:08Speaker 1: amped up for a week in a fight's here, you know.
- 38:10Speaker 2: Yeah, And uh well, I do want to add because
- 38:13Speaker 2: it does fit and got to say it because now
- 38:16Speaker 2: this for me, this is a couple of fights in
- 38:18Speaker 2: a row, and I didn't and no excuse as far
- 38:21Speaker 2: as I'm concerned, because I didn't think anything of the
- 38:24Speaker 2: Goodman fight either. But you know, in a way, I
- 38:28Speaker 2: respect his ability like everybody else, you know. I mean,
- 38:33Speaker 2: he may very well, you know, go down with greatness,
- 38:36Speaker 2: so we're not talking about that. But don't don't give
- 38:40Speaker 2: the guy a pass that you wouldn't give anybody else to.
- 38:42Speaker 2: I mean, we don't need in a way camp, We
- 38:45Speaker 2: don't even need in a way good Good. I don't
- 38:48Speaker 2: I don't care what the alphabets say, you know, I don't.
- 38:52Speaker 2: I don't care if you got to you know, you
- 38:54Speaker 2: gotta weight class every three, every three four pounds right
- 38:57Speaker 2: down there. I mean, you know, it's it's it's nonsense,
- 39:01Speaker 2: it's nonsense. We don't we don't need those fights, and
- 39:03Speaker 2: don't give him a pass that you wouldn't give to
- 39:07Speaker 2: take somebody else, somebody else, you know. And you see
- 39:10Speaker 2: people immediately want to jump out and give him a pass.
- 39:12Speaker 2: This is greatness. Well no, you know, knocking this Kim
- 39:16Speaker 2: guy out, who's a no hoper nobody that a fight
- 39:21Speaker 2: that really we don't we don't even need to happen
- 39:24Speaker 2: is not great, is not great. Even though you got
- 39:26Speaker 2: rid of the guy quick. I mean, yeah, sure that's
- 39:29Speaker 2: doing the assignment, but him, him and Doane that those
- 39:33Speaker 2: are those were just time wasters. Yeah, and sure there
- 39:37Speaker 2: are a lot of other time wasters out there, no doubt.
- 39:40Speaker 2: And I'm not criticizing in a way's ability, but like
- 39:44Speaker 2: let's see him in with Knakatani. We don't need these lads.
- 39:47Speaker 2: And now they're talking about him fighting Ball. Okay, but
- 39:51Speaker 2: you know Ball's five to three. I know he's at featherweight.
- 39:53Speaker 2: But in a way it's going to be in a
- 39:55Speaker 2: way is going to be taller than him, So you
- 39:58Speaker 2: know then people are gonna get all crazy you about,
- 40:00Speaker 2: Oh he's stepping up and he's fighting Nick Ball. Well,
- 40:04Speaker 2: he's gonna have a height advantage against Nick Ball.
- 40:06Speaker 1: You know, he punched down on him hard, right, he put.
- 40:09Speaker 2: It down on the board, real hard. Like I'd rather
- 40:13Speaker 2: see the Nakatani fight.
- 40:16Speaker 1: You know, when you think of styles like that, John,
- 40:20Speaker 1: I mean like I think Ball's custom made for him.
- 40:25Speaker 2: And that's going to get to it you go years back.
- 40:27Speaker 2: But people that are historians are fall of the fight
- 40:30Speaker 2: game real closely now, and it's it's harder to in
- 40:33Speaker 2: those lower weight classes where there's too many, too many
- 40:36Speaker 2: weight classes. But if you look at in a ways
- 40:40Speaker 2: ascension at the time he was ascending, you know he
- 40:46Speaker 2: he there were there were there were there were tougher
- 40:49Speaker 2: opponents that he could have fought down there, and he would.
- 40:53Speaker 2: You know, he's jumping up a class here, missing though
- 40:57Speaker 2: the people that really know know that. Again, not criticizing
- 41:00Speaker 2: his abilities, but he's missed guys before.
- 41:04Speaker 1: Along Well Bam has been able to get a couple
- 41:06Speaker 1: of them, right, you know, he didn't have a problem
- 41:09Speaker 1: doing that.
- 41:10Speaker 2: No, he's cleaning up with those guys, but in a way,
- 41:14Speaker 2: you know, he missed, he missed some of those guys.
- 41:17Speaker 2: Then he's catching more. But now we're later on, but
- 41:21Speaker 2: this Na Katani thing is starting to remind me of that,
- 41:23Speaker 2: Like he's gonna he's gonna jump around and pick guys
- 41:28Speaker 2: and like Na Katani's not not in the selection, not
- 41:32Speaker 2: in the selection. Right, it looks like you were the
- 41:35Speaker 2: talk about it, talk about it, but like now I'm
- 41:37Speaker 2: hearing you know, from credible sources, like it's Nick Ball next. Well,
- 41:43Speaker 2: you know what happened to the Katani's fighting guys that
- 41:47Speaker 2: aren't that good? Frankly, he's got to fight coming up,
- 41:50Speaker 2: but it's it's still not the level. You know, he's
- 41:53Speaker 2: shown he's at a level above that. I mean, he's
- 41:55Speaker 2: a legit top ten pound for pound guy now as well.
- 41:59Speaker 2: So you know, let's uh, you know, let's uh, let's
- 42:04Speaker 2: have that, you.
- 42:05Speaker 1: Know, yeah, because look at his first fight at once
- 42:08Speaker 1: twenty two full, you know, like that's a hell of
- 42:11Speaker 1: a way to go up, you know, like wow, okay, wow,
- 42:15Speaker 1: and I move from that for about a year and
- 42:18Speaker 1: a half though, you know, right.
- 42:20Speaker 2: I mean that's the thing that was right, good fight
- 42:22Speaker 2: every excite, and you know he has gotten some some
- 42:25Speaker 2: you know, good opponents along the way, yes, but earlier
- 42:28Speaker 2: on he was he was missing you know, he's missing
- 42:31Speaker 2: some of the some of the and you know he
- 42:33Speaker 2: might very well have beaten him, but we don't know
- 42:36Speaker 2: because it didn't happen. And now this is we're in
- 42:40Speaker 2: the earlier stages of this were it looked like Nakatani
- 42:44Speaker 2: and him would be a good showdown and arguably the
- 42:47Speaker 2: biggest Japanese fight of all time. And you know, now
- 42:52Speaker 2: we're not hearing about that being next.
- 42:54Speaker 1: No pressure either, we're not hearing the pressure from the press.
- 42:59Speaker 1: I'm seeing and stuff like Allen Picasso in April, MJ
- 43:05Speaker 1: in September, and then Nick Ball in December. Yeah, and
- 43:11Speaker 1: it's like Picasso, like, it's just right, we're not we're
- 43:15Speaker 1: not talking, you know, if we're talking outside of boxing Picasso. Okay,
- 43:19Speaker 1: now we're talking, but we're talking boxing year, you know.
- 43:22Speaker 2: And even though you know now he's gonna paint.
- 43:24Speaker 1: That dude's face a Picasso, and.
- 43:27Speaker 2: I understand it. It's total it's totally biased, and it's
- 43:29Speaker 2: to try to get his guy to fight. But I
- 43:32Speaker 2: did have to chuckle a little bit at her and
- 43:34Speaker 2: the promoter.
- 43:35Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, he laughed.
- 43:38Speaker 2: He lashes out about in a ways resume you know
- 43:42Speaker 2: that he's not he's not fighting anybody, and he's dunking.
- 43:47Speaker 2: He's ducking. He's dunking.
- 43:49Speaker 1: Uh, even though MJ didn't want anything at Fulton when
- 43:52Speaker 1: they had a chance to fight, you know, right.
- 43:55Speaker 2: Yeah, that's funny, right exactly. So it's it's and it's
- 44:00Speaker 2: not that in a way I wouldn't take in a
- 44:02Speaker 2: way in that fight, I would, but it's Hern didn't
- 44:05Speaker 2: give me. He gave me a little chuckle there. Yeah, yeah,
- 44:08Speaker 2: because I just do want to see at least you know.
- 44:12Speaker 2: But you know, in a way this Knakatani fights. Right there,
- 44:16Speaker 2: they're they're talking like there's reasons for delay, but there
- 44:19Speaker 2: there really isn't any reason for delay.
- 44:22Speaker 1: Because they told us, they told us John, they said
- 44:25Speaker 1: we're gonna get them both. I was willing to deal
- 44:28Speaker 1: with both of them on the same card in April.
- 44:30Speaker 1: It's like, if we get the fight, okay, I'll meet
- 44:34Speaker 1: you halfway. You know, if you want to do the
- 44:36Speaker 1: dumb thing, okay, cool and then fight next like that,
- 44:39Speaker 1: I'll be I'll be just fine because they are active
- 44:42Speaker 1: most of the time, you know, the Japanese fighters, So okay,
- 44:45Speaker 1: that's fine with me. But now there's just not a mention.
- 44:48Speaker 1: It's just crazy. I mean, this is like I just
- 44:51Speaker 1: can't get over the style of these two guys in
- 44:54Speaker 1: the ring. I mean intelligence, it's got everything. It literally
- 44:59Speaker 1: has everything.
- 45:00Speaker 2: It's got the right style matchup and the ability match up.
- 45:03Speaker 2: You know, both guys.
- 45:05Speaker 1: This is not common talent.
- 45:07Speaker 2: These guys, you know, legit top ten pounds for pound,
- 45:10Speaker 2: and it's a fight. I could see myself picking Nakatani,
- 45:13Speaker 2: and I was alluding to that a few months ago,
- 45:15Speaker 2: and I'm kind of feeling that way. I'd like to
- 45:19Speaker 2: see him the fight set and then we could have
- 45:21Speaker 2: our official picks and enjoy it. But it doesn't look
- 45:25Speaker 2: like they're you know, it's going to end up being
- 45:27Speaker 2: one of those fights that we miss or it gets
- 45:29Speaker 2: made too late. And that's a shame because Nakatani's fighting
- 45:33Speaker 2: guys that are way below his level as well. Now
- 45:36Speaker 2: you know, he's tended to such a high level himself
- 45:40Speaker 2: that you know, you see him blowing away these guys,
- 45:42Speaker 2: and that's what I expect coming up next. That we
- 45:45Speaker 2: just don't. We don't need these fights, you know, we
- 45:48Speaker 2: need these guys fighting each other.
- 45:50Speaker 1: Yep, definitely. It's just uh yeah, I just I mean
- 45:55Speaker 1: talk about a style matchup. Man, it's just talk about
- 45:59Speaker 1: a skill fest with power. I mean, it's just it's
- 46:03Speaker 1: all right, So we'll stop talking about it because I'm
- 46:06Speaker 1: gonna start to get a little disappointed here, so it
- 46:09Speaker 1: might as well get right to it. The Battle of
- 46:13Speaker 1: the David's David Benevitez, David Barrell. I was talking about
- 46:17Speaker 1: this earlier. I've talked about this throughout the time, maybe
- 46:20Speaker 1: the last two years or something. I always felt that
- 46:25Speaker 1: David Morell did need a couple fights the last couple
- 46:28Speaker 1: of years, just to get deeper into rounds and and
- 46:33Speaker 1: fights and have some adversity, some for him adversity because
- 46:36Speaker 1: he really wasn't seeing it. You know, he's knocking everybody out.
- 46:40Speaker 1: He had that. I think his second or third fight
- 46:42Speaker 1: he went the distance and you could see some flaws.
- 46:46Speaker 1: And then the second time he went unfortunately with that
- 46:49Speaker 1: duty you know, got messed up in the fight. But
- 46:53Speaker 1: I liked what I saw out of that second time.
- 46:55Speaker 1: He got to the twelfth round, he looked like a
- 46:58Speaker 1: little bit different of a fighter. He's more efficient, he
- 47:01Speaker 1: was in better shape. Now this last fight, he thought
- 47:04Speaker 1: he is the best fighter. He'd face a veteran, though
- 47:09Speaker 1: not necessarily some kind of high level guy, but a
- 47:12Speaker 1: tricky guy, crafty guy or whatever. And there's times where
- 47:15Speaker 1: I thought he was headhunting. He should have went to
- 47:19Speaker 1: the body, he should have put his punches together. He
- 47:21Speaker 1: seemed like he was looking for a highlight bunch. I
- 47:24Speaker 1: don't think that'll be the case here, but I do
- 47:28Speaker 1: think that type of fight does help you. Whereas I've
- 47:31Speaker 1: seen a lot of people before. I remember talking in
- 47:34Speaker 1: like Twitter spaces, you know, and I'd be like, I
- 47:37Speaker 1: think he needs another fight or too, and they'd be like, no, no,
- 47:39Speaker 1: he's ready. He's ready for Benavetez. Because you know, we
- 47:42Speaker 1: knew Benavitez Canela wasn't gonna happen, and so or we
- 47:45Speaker 1: didn't know it, but ultimately it didn't happen. So you know,
- 47:48Speaker 1: everyone's saying, benevites keep going on, this terrier going on,
- 47:51Speaker 1: like keep you know, quality fighters. And now a lot
- 47:57Speaker 1: of people are saying he's too green, he's too green.
- 48:00Speaker 1: Basically what I was saying, like two years ago. But
- 48:04Speaker 1: I think his mobility, like if they get a game plan,
- 48:07Speaker 1: which you know with Ronnie Shields, if they can get
- 48:09Speaker 1: a game plan where he's jabbed and he's moving, he's
- 48:12Speaker 1: looking for a power shot or two and then dip
- 48:15Speaker 1: and then you know his angles, his power, his speed,
- 48:19Speaker 1: his accuracy. Can that cause some issues for a David
- 48:25Speaker 1: Benavitez who came off of actually his first time at
- 48:28Speaker 1: seventy four. It wasn't his first time at seventy five actually,
- 48:31Speaker 1: but you know, people were kind of down on him
- 48:34Speaker 1: after that fight facing another VET, which I thought he
- 48:38Speaker 1: looked fine. I didn't think it was a bad outing
- 48:41Speaker 1: or whatever. Where do you stand on this? Because they're
- 48:43Speaker 1: both coming off of outings that weren't electrifying or whatever.
- 48:50Speaker 1: How do you see this one, you know, shaking out?
- 48:53Speaker 2: That's a good good spot for me to come in, Chris,
- 48:56Speaker 2: because after they both had had those fights. I did
- 49:02Speaker 2: post that up on X and you know, of course
- 49:06Speaker 2: it was indirectly complimentary to his guy, but you know
- 49:10Speaker 2: him being a former pro fighter and trainer, I did
- 49:13Speaker 2: take note of it. You know, I had put out there.
- 49:15Speaker 2: Nobody was saying that after the fight, like as you
- 49:18Speaker 2: just talked about, but I put out there, Look, you know,
- 49:23Speaker 2: you take Kaligik who fought Morell, he only got blown
- 49:27Speaker 2: away by better Bev, and Gavodstick only got blown away
- 49:31Speaker 2: by better be You these guys are talented fighters, and
- 49:36Speaker 2: you know a lot of people weren't maybe as familiar
- 49:39Speaker 2: with how good they were. And Fodstick was retired a
- 49:41Speaker 2: little bit, but he'd been.
- 49:42Speaker 1: Back, and he had been back. He had had three
- 49:47Speaker 1: training camps and three little nothing fights. But still when
- 49:50Speaker 1: you have three or four camps, you're back, you know, right.
- 49:53Speaker 2: I think people made a mistake where you know, these
- 49:58Speaker 2: guys were not chumps that they were fighting, and they
- 50:01Speaker 2: both had some difficulties, didn't look as good as they've
- 50:04Speaker 2: been looking. But I think in the case of Morell
- 50:06Speaker 2: and Benavitez with fighting Gavodstick and Gligic, it was because
- 50:12Speaker 2: of who their opponents were. I mean, only beater bet
- 50:15Speaker 2: Bev had beaten these guys and stopped them, you know.
- 50:21Speaker 2: So that's the top guy in the division who just
- 50:23Speaker 2: beat ball, you know, so left no doubt about that
- 50:26Speaker 2: in terms of he he's the guy, he's the real champ.
- 50:30Speaker 2: So yeah, you know, because I mean Morell got the win,
- 50:35Speaker 2: Benavidez got the win. They didn't get stoppages. But I
- 50:39Speaker 2: came away from those like nothing to be ashamed of there.
- 50:43Speaker 2: So you know, I like this, I think for PBC
- 50:48Speaker 2: just and this is not looking just at PBC like
- 50:51Speaker 2: some of the haters would. It's really to me just
- 50:53Speaker 2: the whole sport, like this is kind of like the
- 50:57Speaker 2: desperate times, call for desperate measures, like or it's got
- 51:01Speaker 2: some trouble, like arguably this is the best fight PBC
- 51:05Speaker 2: could put together of their own guys.
- 51:07Speaker 1: Yeah, arguably, yeah, I mean the Canelo obviously the fight
- 51:11Speaker 1: not was not gonna have the Benavidez. So I liked
- 51:14Speaker 1: how they said, all right, cool, we're going to this.
- 51:16Speaker 2: Yeah, if you want to say, okay, right, they have
- 51:17Speaker 2: had Canelo, you know, Canelo Benavidez, but that not happened.
- 51:20Speaker 2: Still this is and you know, this is a real
- 51:23Speaker 2: good one. So much show that I'm giving Benavetez a
- 51:26Speaker 2: lot of credit because you know, I have said and
- 51:29Speaker 2: he's proving me wrong here. Of course I'm sure he's
- 51:31Speaker 2: getting paid, but still that doesn't matter. He's taken the fight.
- 51:34Speaker 2: I just thought not that it would be impossible for
- 51:36Speaker 2: him to win or something. I just thought Morell was
- 51:39Speaker 2: too too much risk, too little rewards. The point he
- 51:43Speaker 2: was at talking about Canelo fights, other big fights. You know,
- 51:47Speaker 2: he is a guy that Turkey Alaska has mentioned a
- 51:50Speaker 2: few times. He has mentioned Morrell, but not as much.
- 51:54Speaker 2: But you know, he is aware of these guys and
- 51:57Speaker 2: he has put the bigger you know, light heavies and
- 51:59Speaker 2: above together there. So he's he's put his money where
- 52:03Speaker 2: literally put his money where his mouth is there. So
- 52:06Speaker 2: you know, I thought this might be a little risky
- 52:08Speaker 2: for Benavidez, but apparently there's he feels like there's enough
- 52:12Speaker 2: reward there to do it. The odds reflect it's a
- 52:15Speaker 2: good fight. I started, as the fight is getting closer,
- 52:19Speaker 2: started thinking about it a little more, like you have Chris, Like,
- 52:22Speaker 2: I'm glad Morel's moving quick, and he's looked real good overall,
- 52:27Speaker 2: and he's still a threat to win this fight. Odds
- 52:29Speaker 2: show that, you know, Benavidez is just a slap his
- 52:32Speaker 2: reflection of a good fight because.
- 52:34Speaker 1: The has been lingering right there too for quite some time.
- 52:37Speaker 2: Yeah, and the odds maker's got to set it. You know,
- 52:39Speaker 2: their steak is to set the odds what they consider right,
- 52:41Speaker 2: no fanboy thing in there or anything SOS fight. But
- 52:46Speaker 2: I have getting back to the point, as this fight's
- 52:50Speaker 2: gotten closer, I've been thinking, you know, you look at
- 52:52Speaker 2: the resumes, not that much different, even though Benavitez has
- 52:55Speaker 2: had more fights, but Benavidez has had a little bit
- 52:58Speaker 2: better opposition. And as the fight's getting close with I
- 53:03Speaker 2: believe in the talent of both these guys and I
- 53:05Speaker 2: will no matter what happens that I can foresee Saturday night,
- 53:10Speaker 2: But as it's getting closer, I'm kind of leaning for
- 53:12Speaker 2: to Benavidez for those kind of reasons. Like you know, Morrell,
- 53:17Speaker 2: even though he's got the pedigree, he's looked real good.
- 53:19Speaker 2: I think he's ready to move with the odds show
- 53:21Speaker 2: he's ready, But then can he go in and actually
- 53:25Speaker 2: pull out the win? He is at the level of
- 53:29Speaker 2: opposition he's fought in the number of fights, That's where
- 53:32Speaker 2: I think in a tight fight like this, that might
- 53:36Speaker 2: just give Benavidez enough of an edge. I think that's
- 53:39Speaker 2: where I'm leaning kind of like I see the odds
- 53:42Speaker 2: on this one being right, same as we get to it.
- 53:45Speaker 2: For Fulton Figueroa, for what it's worth. I kind of like,
- 53:49Speaker 2: I'm like, yeah, I see these odds. To me, look
- 53:52Speaker 2: look pretty accurately and seeing these fights, So I just
- 53:56Speaker 2: give that slightess to Benavidez because he's got talent. Couldn't
- 54:01Speaker 2: tell obviously for the Gavodstick fight. His other light heavy
- 54:05Speaker 2: fights earlier in his career were against lower opposition where
- 54:07Speaker 2: I thought it was spectacular, but the opposition wasn't there.
- 54:11Speaker 2: Getting getting my point being like I've always had that
- 54:14Speaker 2: feeling that like Benavidez would be better at light heavyweight,
- 54:18Speaker 2: that that he.
- 54:19Speaker 1: Said that for a while too, that for years.
- 54:22Speaker 2: Just the look of the cut to him, you know,
- 54:24Speaker 2: for him, I kind of singled out like the weight
- 54:27Speaker 2: cup for him, he was as a teenager. He was
- 54:31Speaker 2: a kid who weighed in the two hundreds, heavy kid,
- 54:34Speaker 2: and just like you're just looking at him, even though
- 54:37Speaker 2: he's a very good fighter, like but at that one
- 54:39Speaker 2: sixty eight, even though he kept winning, it just to
- 54:43Speaker 2: me looked like, man, it just this is one guy.
- 54:45Speaker 2: To me, it looked like that was just a bridge
- 54:48Speaker 2: too far for for cut and weight. And earlier in
- 54:50Speaker 2: his career did miss.
- 54:51Speaker 1: A couple of a coup, so you know, you couldn't.
- 54:55Speaker 2: Tell that admittedly against Gavodstick yet. But Gavodstick, I think
- 55:00Speaker 2: he is better than people think so, but you know,
- 55:03Speaker 2: Morell is also moving up from one hundred and sixty
- 55:06Speaker 2: eight pounds, so I don't know. We'll see, you know,
- 55:10Speaker 2: we'll see how he looks. But you know he's fighting
- 55:12Speaker 2: a really good fighter in Morell, so you can't really
- 55:17Speaker 2: judge him totally on that because of the talent level
- 55:20Speaker 2: who he's fighting. But I think in the long haul,
- 55:22Speaker 2: I always felt, as long as it's not too late
- 55:24Speaker 2: now that Benevetez would I thought he'd be more comfortable,
- 55:29Speaker 2: would just look better, stronger at one seventy five. And
- 55:32Speaker 2: I think it's possible that that still happens, because look
- 55:35Speaker 2: if he if he wins Saturday Night, you know Turkey
- 55:39Speaker 2: Ali sheet has talked a lot about putting him in
- 55:43Speaker 2: with whoever wins with Bival and better BF, So the
- 55:47Speaker 2: way the Saudis have been going with that, you would
- 55:50Speaker 2: think that that is a possible, a real, real possibility
- 55:53Speaker 2: for the winner of this fight Saturday Night, which makes
- 55:57Speaker 2: it big too. So I like what PBC's doe here
- 56:00Speaker 2: with the matchup. This is just about as good as
- 56:02Speaker 2: they could do at this point. On the health of
- 56:05Speaker 2: the sport marketing part, I don't like the seventy nine
- 56:09Speaker 2: ninety five pay per view. You know, in the US
- 56:12Speaker 2: got to get some viewership and stuff, and you know,
- 56:16Speaker 2: this is kind of like you're going back a few
- 56:18Speaker 2: years now, but you know, this is almost like showtime
- 56:22Speaker 2: level when back in your days when you had Showtime,
- 56:25Speaker 2: like a really good showtime card, right, and you're now
- 56:29Speaker 2: now it's seventy nine to ninety five. That's something that's
- 56:31Speaker 2: to me not good. So I love. I agree with
- 56:35Speaker 2: the optimists that I love what we've got going on
- 56:38Speaker 2: in February in the ring. Yes, certainly doesn't hurt box.
- 56:42Speaker 2: I mean that's real. I'm on board with that, like yeah,
- 56:45Speaker 2: and that's where I'm excited a lot of Yeah, I'm
- 56:48Speaker 2: with you, Like you know, I was up for Fury
- 56:50Speaker 2: You Sick two, and then I'm just looking at other
- 56:53Speaker 2: stuff and I'm like, man, this is you know again,
- 56:55Speaker 2: just we're boxing's at overall, I'm like, this is not good.
- 56:58Speaker 2: It's just not good, especially for us sensibilities. But now
- 57:02Speaker 2: you got at least you got this February, right, you know,
- 57:07Speaker 2: with a with a lot of really good in the
- 57:09Speaker 2: ring action. I mean, I agree with that assessment. It
- 57:12Speaker 2: just worked out that that this February starting and you
- 57:15Speaker 2: know we get going Saturday night, it's gonna be a
- 57:18Speaker 2: hell of a it's gonna it is. That's legit. It's
- 57:20Speaker 2: gonna be a hell of a February. I am. I
- 57:23Speaker 2: am pumped up for this upcoming February.
- 57:27Speaker 1: And I think in recent years we've been a little
- 57:29Speaker 1: spoiled because the the the sport really didn't take a break,
- 57:35Speaker 1: you know for the holidays.
- 57:37Speaker 2: Uh more model than it used to be.
- 57:39Speaker 1: I agree, Yeah, the last chunk of years we've had.
- 57:43Speaker 1: You know, sometimes the Japanese will do both Year's even day,
- 57:47Speaker 1: but no matter what, you're getting a card usually and
- 57:51Speaker 1: then there's usually something one or two cards before, like
- 57:55Speaker 1: something big before even the end of January. Whereas year,
- 57:59Speaker 1: you know, if you go back a decade or plus,
- 58:02Speaker 1: it was kind of like there would be that you'd
- 58:03Speaker 1: have Friday night fights or show box, but you'd have
- 58:06Speaker 1: to kind of wait for that open window between the
- 58:09Speaker 1: Conference final and the super Bowl. They usually put a
- 58:12Speaker 1: fight there and then it would kind of slowly go
- 58:15Speaker 1: into it. But February, like you said, it's like jam
- 58:18Speaker 1: packed with like legit fights where you could you could
- 58:22Speaker 1: take two watch off of each one and be like,
- 58:25Speaker 1: let's spread these out a little bit more, you know,
- 58:27Speaker 1: like some of them would be great double or triple headers.
- 58:30Speaker 1: You know.
- 58:31Speaker 2: Yeah. What's great about it too, is what I like
- 58:33Speaker 2: is the odds makers. You can always look at as
- 58:36Speaker 2: like the independent voice, like because their job is just
- 58:39Speaker 2: to protect the money. Protect the money. Yeah, like you know,
- 58:43Speaker 2: there's no fandom in it for them, Like how do
- 58:46Speaker 2: we protect the money? So you know, the all these
- 58:50Speaker 2: fights were talking about the odds are tight. Yeah, the
- 58:53Speaker 2: odds are these big fights this weekend, the top two
- 58:57Speaker 2: this weekend, and then the top fights on February twenty
- 59:01Speaker 2: second card. I mean you I was going through the
- 59:03Speaker 2: odds before we went on today, just to check and buy,
- 59:07Speaker 2: and I'm like, yeah, I mean, like the odds makers.
- 59:10Speaker 1: There's about five fights on that card that are probably
- 59:14Speaker 1: I think the highest is like a plus one eighty something,
- 59:18Speaker 1: and that's.
- 59:19Speaker 2: What we That's what ninety that's what boxing really needs.
- 59:23Speaker 2: I mean, I think that part Ali she does seem
- 59:26Speaker 2: to understand a bit, like you've got to have these
- 59:30Speaker 2: fights not where you're just hyping it up. But where
- 59:32Speaker 2: the odds right? You know, you're putting these guys together
- 59:35Speaker 2: and we're like, hey, we don't know who's going to
- 59:37Speaker 2: win this fight. That's that's what the sport does need.
- 59:41Speaker 2: And we've got that in February at a high volume. So,
- 59:45Speaker 2: like I said, it's not spread out, but man, we're
- 59:47Speaker 2: getting the way it should be in terms of the
- 59:50Speaker 2: in the ring, right. Yeah, in this month of February
- 59:53Speaker 2: twenty twenty five. That part does have me excited. And
- 59:58Speaker 2: I'm assuming that the pay per view price for February
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: twenty second not to get a few weeks ahead, but
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: I'm kind of looking at this month as one thing.
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: Almost now, this big month, I hope that's at least
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: going to be a lower Yeah.
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: It sounds like it sounds like it's gonna be twenty
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: five bucks or whatever.
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, with that many good fights, you'd like
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: it where it wasn't pay per view, Like you and
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: I have said, I don't frankly, with what Turkey Alochik's
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: supposedly trying to do. I don't know why he won't
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: go there, right, but that to me almost seems like
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: the part would his own involved or something. But at least.
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: Just like, why not build something and then capitalize financially later.
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: You know, that's kind of the way you should do it.
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: But what do we know?
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: You know what I mean? The only good thing from
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: a fan perspective, there is at least with that many
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: good fights. You know, you can say, okay, if I'm
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: putting down twenty five bucks or encourage him, but even
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: like forty, you're like, well, you know when you start
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: going per fight when when yeah, like we're saying, then
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: you're like, well, and it's not totally rationalizing. You're like,
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: well six bucks, yeah.
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, like yeah, like on Amazon, like adding six
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: bucks to you, I'll keep watching this series, Yeah yeah,
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: I can.
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: Look with that. And at least we have we have
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: two good ones this weekend. But I don't like the
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: I don't like the Prince.
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that's fair. I did. So. I watched a
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: movie on Amazon and I did see an ad which
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: I hadn't seen before. Now that's not to say that
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: you know this thing is gonna do major payviews or
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: nothing like that. And then I purposely went out of
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: my way to check a couple other things out with
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: ads to see if I'd see another one, and and
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: I did see another one, so you know, we'll see
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: if how as this week comes on in that day,
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: you know what the what the front page is gonna
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: look like when you go to uh to the app,
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: you know. But as far as getting back to that
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: main event, so basically what you're kinda I mean, I'm
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: not gonna put words in your mouth, but I do
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: like the way you broke it down. And I think, like,
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: you know, Benavetez having early parts and fights hey le
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: Plant and others who had success against him, where he
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: was like, Okay, damn, he's getting hit a lot, you know,
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: and then he you know, goes through that, gets through
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: a lot a little bit of adversity, stays with his
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: style and then really puts it on the guy and
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: just his engine keeps revit and revit each round. And
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: David just besides his last fight, he just hasn't had
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: any adversity in the fight. I mean maybe if he
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: has heard or something we don't know about or something,
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: But as far as like losing rounds clearly and then
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: coming over the top of it and defeating people in fashion,
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: I do think that really does mean something. And I
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: like the way you you stated that basically, you know.
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: Well, one thing that always leaves you with confidence in
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: Benavitez compared to a lot of fighters who are good
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: but maybe have that flaw is you know he's he's
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: gonna move it. He's gonna move his hands. I mean,
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: like you know with that with an David Benavidez fight.
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: You know he's not a reckless slugger or something, but
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: he he will move his hands combination, Like you know
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: you're gonna watch one of his fights. You know you're
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: you're not gonna watch six rounds where we were like, well,
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: why isn't this guy doing something? You know he's gonna
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: be moving something, so you know that. That's where I
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: feel like.
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: But with the chab though too right, he does have
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: some fundamentals. He's good at blocking shots with his gloves.
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: You know he has some form of defense.
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: I guess you could say definitely, And so you know,
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: Morel's got skills. Morell has been impressive when he decided
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: he wanted to impress and blowing guys away, getting more aggressive.
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: I'm going to make the assumption he's not going to
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: do that against Benavidez. I think you are too, and
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: you know, who knows. I mean, maybe he's good enough
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: that he could but gamble and do that, but I
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: don't think he's going to.
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: And especially in the first half of the fight, you know, right,
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: I don't think he could take that campbell, you know.
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: And that's right, And that's where I kind of see like,
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: so if if he kind of he's a good boxer,
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: but you know, if he kind of goes to boxing,
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: I could just see like Benavidez building up round advantage
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: because he stays active, he'll move his hands throughout throughout
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: a twelve rounder, and see him taking a decision. That's
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: kind of way I see this one going baring anything
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: crazy at the way like I always.
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: Say, yeah, yeah, yeah, And I think it's gotta be
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: somewhere for David Row. It's gotta be it's not throwing,
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: you know, standing there and trading with him right away
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: or anything. But like it still has to be pretty
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: decent volume. It can't be just pot shot moved, pot
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: shot move. And if it is potshot, it has to
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: be like a Floyd Mayweather pot shot where you see
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: the head snap and it's like, oh, you know, it
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: would really have to be some clean shots to and
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: to do that the whole fight. I just don't think
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: it's I don't think it's possible to win, you know, Yeah,
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: I don't.
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: Right, I don't think. Yeah, that's where I agree with you, Like,
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: I don't think at this stage, I'm glad, you know,
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: he's ready for the fight, but then to pull it
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: out against the guy as good as Benavidez, who's who's
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: got a little better experience with the opposition, with a
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: little bit better opposition, I think that's enough for me
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: to go with Benevetez by a decision. But I think
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: Morell's probably good enough that he's not He's not gonna get.
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: Stopped, right, I agree. I think Benavidez will win by decision,
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: whether it's unanimous or majority or something. Who knows. I
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: would lean unanimous, but you know, like he obviously has
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: them on amateur pedigree. But then again, the way David
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: did it, since he was so young, sparring really good,
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: you know. I kind of like how he It's almost
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: like how they do it in Mexico in a sense
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: where it's sparring. Sure, you know you're not in there
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: with no you know, you have your heard gear on
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: and all that, and people are working on stuff. But
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: you know, over the years, when he was seventeen and
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: eighteen and nineteen, I mean, getting this work with Glufkin
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: and Applican, all these guys, it had to have helped them.
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: And I think for a pro style, you know, I
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: think that's probably just as good as far as an
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: American getting amateur experience too as a pro game, because
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: you know, we don't fight four hundred times barely, you know,
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: not many people fight four hundred times, you know, like
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: they do in other countries. So I do think that
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: really makes up. But he did need that gap in
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: his early twenties to put it all together. And that's
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: what I've just seen him over the years. He's gotten
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: in better shape. He's taking the spot a lot more serious.
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: He's really focused on and like you said, he could
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: be chilling looking for Saudi money in Canelo, but he's
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: like nope. In fact, like you said, Turkey, it sounds
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: like that they want to match him up and this
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: time the WBC will have some teeth when it comes
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: to Bitbia rather than Canelo, you know, so maybe they
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: can actually say, hey, dude, give me your damn beld
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: Er fight me, and it actually means something.
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: You know, wherever they want to get the sanctioning fee,
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: it'll work, it'll work out. But yeah, Benavitez, you know
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: father was a fighter, He's got that background. Brother's a fighter.
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: Turned out not to be as good. You know, his
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: brother was on the scene first. But yeah, yeah, yep,
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: didn't really live. You know, he's fighting too. He's been
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: added to the car, but he hasn't lived up text
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: spectations throughout it, you know, throughout his entire career. Yeah,
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: that layoffs and stuff. So you know, David's the guy
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: who has had the better career. Yeah, I mean it
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: seems like, you know, this is this is kind of
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: his time to peak, you know, get if he one
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: of just about the biggest fight PBC could make, excluding
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: Canelo being in one, gets this win Turkey Ali Sheik's interested.
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: You got beater better b Ivan biv all the same
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: month and and that's already a rematch, so we'll have
- 1:08:35Speaker 2: seen them fight for a second time.
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: So yeah, they'll be on schedule, like I like to say,
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: and it's actually more important than people realize, just being
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: on schedule with another fighter that you want to fight with.
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: It really actually does help. So the co feature, which
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: you know happened a handful of years ago, it was
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: a very close fight, majority decision. I believe I was
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: okay with the you know, Fulton winning, but it was
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: it was close, and Fulton kind of mixed that I'm
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: gonna try to beat you, but try to beat you
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: at your own stuff and sit there on the ropes
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: and dig deep with them, and it's like, man, you know,
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: it was just Teeter tattering in that fight. It could
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: have went either way. And now you know he had
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: that long break, he did get a fight in, and
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: I think people might be stuck on how he looked
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: on that fight instead of well, it's probably good that
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: he got a fight in and now he's right back
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: in the ring. But he did have a close fight,
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: though he didn't look all that great. Well, how do
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: you see this one going up? Obviously it's up at
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: one twenty six. Now we'll see if that does anything.
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: Fulton's not the most powerful guy, that's for sure, And
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: this is a this is kind of this would kind
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: of rejuvenate either guy's career. But I really think figure
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: right here has that this will nudge him and then
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: he can really get going again.
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I am the first fight, very good fight, very close.
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: I thought Figureoa did enough to win it, but I
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: didn't have a problem with Fulton getting the decision. You know,
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: it was that close.
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: It was for me.
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: I did think Figurea pulled it out, but I didn't
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: have a problem with you know, Fulton getting that decision.
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: But as you mentioned, you know that one he he
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: was standing with him, and he doesn't have the pop,
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: even though they fought once before. I see that being
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: even a bigger separator this time around. And I'm going
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: with Figureoa because I thought he edged in the first time.
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: He brings more power, he's got more size at this way,
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: even though you know, he started out as a bantam weight,
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: so you know, it's not that this is quote unquote
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: a natural, more natural weight, but he's got the bigger
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: ructure than Fulton, and he's got more pop. Fulton doesn't
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: have the pop. So I don't think that for me
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: where I thought figure Oll pulled out the first one.
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: It's not that the four pounds is really making the difference,
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: but it's just that you know, now Fulton, he got
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: knocked out by in a way he got dropped in
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: his last fight, and no, I didn't, even though as
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: good as in a way is, I didn't like in
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: that fight Fulton had with him, Fulton really didn't show
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: me too much offensively and he doesn't have the pop
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: as it is, so you know, he didn't really make
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: any marks offensively to me in that fight. You know,
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: I thought there were some rounds he could have gotten,
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: but I just still it wasn't really an impressive offensive
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: showing by him. And then he ended up getting knocked out.
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: So you know, tough asiem, but he's fighting in a
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: way in Japan, but there was no plus out of
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: it from him, Like let's look at it that way,
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: like like he got knocked out and he didn't show
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: anything in the fight where you were like, well, even
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: though he lost, you go this against in a way
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: and then didn't look that good in his last one.
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: Yeah, any adjustment he made it just got shut down. Right.
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: It's like you could see him try other stuff against
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: Indy it, but he was like, yeah, that's not working,
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: you know, so I respected it. I respected that He's like, hey,
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: I'm gonna go try to win this thing, but it
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: just wasn't doing it.
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: You know, and then you know, even though Magdaleno is
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: not what he was, Figueroa looks like he's still on track,
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: you know. I mean, he's been on a good run.
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: He had that he had that tough brawl draw with
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: with Saha, but you know, again from my view where
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: I thought he even pulled it out against Fultland, I
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: mean like he he's really been rolling in his performances,
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: you know, since then. I mean, and to me he seemed,
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: you know, it's not that he's fighting that frequently, but
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: it looks like it's still there. So I kind of
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: see it guy in Figuolla who's still on a good role.
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: And Fulton we probably have seen the best of him
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: we're gonna see already, which is a guy who he's
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: not afraid to stand in trade if he has to.
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: He has boxing skills, but there's just no pop there.
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: There's no pop. So nobody's going into fights with Steven Fulton,
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: you know, worrying about what's coming back at him. And
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: when you really get to that point unless you're extremely elusive,
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: I mean likely elusive, like you're just not getting hit
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: at all. And you know, Fulton's good defensively of things,
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: but you know he gets hit some Oh yeah, it's
- 1:13:40Speaker 2: it's it's not gonna it's not gonna go good, you know,
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: especially as especially as you get older, and my own
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: theory what I've noticed about and and you know, Fulton
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: wasn't even quite this, but you might compare it to it.
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: Like in all my decades of watching boxing, when you
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: get a really good, like defensive type specialist who doesn't
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: have pop, and then they get on the other side
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: of the hill, what I notice is the offense goes
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: to nothing like in other words, it's it was like
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: it's like limited pop and the guy's not a brawler
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: or anything. He's a boxer, you know, counters and some things.
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: But then when they get on the other side of
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: the hill, what I what I always see that is
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: like the offense usually just shrivels into absolutely nothing. Sure,
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: I'm not saying that's gonna necessarily happen to Fulton on
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: Saturday night, but I will say it wouldn't shock me
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: if it did. Like if all of a sudden, then
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: he's got like nothing coming like not only is it
- 1:14:42Speaker 2: punches that aren't powerful going at Figaroa, Like there's just
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: nothing really coming back at Figaroa and even though he's tall,
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: he likes to fight aggressively, lean on you with the power.
- 1:14:55Speaker 2: He's been doing that for years now because very early
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: in his career he didn't do it. But that thing,
- 1:15:01Speaker 2: like if you if you watch his old fights when
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: he was a bantamweight, like he didn't real young, he
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: didn't fight that, but he's been fighting that way for years.
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: I expect that Saturday night and I could just see
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: nothing really coming back from at a certain point here,
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: I think it's gonna be you know, figure roll by decision,
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: but say maybe a t K. Yeah, if he stopped
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: him before it's over, it wouldn't shock me. In this one,
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: I didn't check. Actually, that got me curious. I wonder
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: what they figure checked that check curiosity.
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: Yeah, And you know Fulton, he actually there's times where
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: I remember on his way up in the contender range
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: and when he became Champanel, it's like it was kind
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: of like, hey, dude, don't brawl so much, like what
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: are you doing in there? And you know, if you
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: look at that Lao, that Leo fight, you know he
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: was dig into the body and you know he was
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: doing this.
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: Thing he has brawled that time. Yeah, no doubt about it.
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: So he can. But like you said, you know, when
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: you get late in your career, and I just don't
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: I don't know if that's gonna work too well this
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: time around. And he and he just got by, you know,
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: by the skin of his teeth, and it's just like
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: is yeah, I just I just think that, you know,
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: like we said about anyway, that's a year and a half,
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: which is kind of crazy to think, but that's over
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: a year and a half since that fight. He had
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: a long layoff. I am glad that he got a
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: camp in a fight, but you know, like you said,
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: got dropped again. These little weights sometimes guys can get
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: old overnight pretty quickly.
- 1:16:46Speaker 2: That's what I'm kind of thinking of, exactly, the smaller weights.
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: You know, even though some guys in more recent years
- 1:16:52Speaker 2: with training, nutrition and exceptions, more than in the older days, yes,
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: way more. You still got to look at it. You know,
- 1:17:00Speaker 2: you get featherweight and below. I mean, you know, you
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: get up in age later twenties, thirty, you know, thirties.
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: I mean, you know, it could be just done, totally
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: done at any at any point.
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: You know, I just don't know what new thing. He's
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: going to show Figueroa in this fight, and to win it,
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: he's gonna have to be busy, and when you're busy,
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: you're going to open up. And so I do. I
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: think it'll play out similar but with just less success.
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: Like you said that, that's a good way to put it.
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: As that fight goes on, you know, he didn't fully
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: go in the survival mode, that's for sure. Against any way,
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: but you could see it even in his face like
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: I'm trying here, but nothing is And obviously Figureoa' is
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: not that explosive and all that. But yeah, I don't know, man,
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: I'm really looking forward to this fight though, because it's
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: it's not just coming off what was a good fight,
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: it's there's other questions. And I agree, I still think
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: Figaroa is going up and I do think, like I mentioned,
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: this will get him right back on the track and
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: hopefully have a great year because there are some fights
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: at this weight division. You know that that that intrigued me,
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: that's for sure in him. You know, he's got that
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: style of fight that people really like. So but I'm
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: with you. I think I think it'll be a decision
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: in in you know, I'm with you on that that
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: late t KO. What was the what you find there, sir?
- 1:18:28Speaker 2: Plus two sixty for figaroa on the KO or t KO. Okay,
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: I think I'm not going right out and saying he's
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: going to stop him. I was leaning decision, but I
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: will say that that seems to me to be a
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: decent value. Yeah, sixty not a bad value. And then
- 1:18:47Speaker 2: just to show what we're saying about the lack of power.
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: But then these are odds, but it does reflect just
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: what we broke down with the fight A Fulton Ko
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: t KO is plus seven to fifty, right, yeah, oh,
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: you know they're based saying he can't win. He can't
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: win by stoppage, which we know. But it's tough because
- 1:19:05Speaker 2: figure Out is going to be coming at you and
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: then you're already starting out with I can't stop this guy,
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: I can't hurt this right. Yeah, that's tough because then
- 1:19:13Speaker 2: that's a twelve hard rounds where you got to avoid
- 1:19:16Speaker 2: what figure Out is bringing and you got to hit
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: him back enough. I just don't think I don't think
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: Fulton's going to be able to do that this time around,
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: at this stage.
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's like one fight in the last year
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: and a half plus one forty and the highest is
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: plus one sixty five. That's in Caesar's as Fulton on
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: the Underdog. So yeah, that's interesting. I'm with you, though,
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: I think the favorites. I think they'll they'll be good fights,
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: you know, and it's not going to become easy. But
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: I do think that the favorites will well etched out.
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: My competitive like eight to four fights or something like that.
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: Any other items from the weekend, any other fighter that
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: you're you're looking at, maybe even if they're not, you know,
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: like uh, Quelo merco Celo, I don't think he's gonna
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: have a tough fight, but I do I'm interested in
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: him as a fighter. Isa Cruz has a fight where
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: it could get a little funky with that dude. But yeah,
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: any other.
- 1:20:22Speaker 2: Any other things. Likes a lot. Even though most people
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: thought he won because a Lubin hasn't been all that durable.
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: You know, that was a fight that most people would
- 1:20:34Speaker 2: would have expected. Ramos should have stopped Lubin. Yeah, I'm
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: just going in you know, sure he didn't do it.
- 1:20:41Speaker 2: I almost felt like, even though he thought he wanted,
- 1:20:45Speaker 2: a lot of people saying they thought he wanted. I
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: did feel that he even understood that about himself, that
- 1:20:51Speaker 2: it was kind of a disappointing performance. You know, people
- 1:20:55Speaker 2: were expecting a big stoppage over lub and he didn't
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: get it. He didn't even get the decision. So it
- 1:21:00Speaker 2: does seem to me with Cruise and Ramos that PBC's
- 1:21:04Speaker 2: bringing him back with guys that they want him to
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: look good against. I mean, Jason Sarrio is totally shot
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: to me, he just came up and draw with Jared
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: Heard who I used to love, but Jared.
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: He speaks more shot.
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: So when those two getting a draw, that's actually not
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: any kind of a positive. It kind of shows you
- 1:21:22Speaker 2: what you thought, like, these guys are totally shot there
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: fighting each other, so they have they have a draw, right,
- 1:21:29Speaker 2: That's how shot both of them are. And for you know,
- 1:21:33Speaker 2: then you're gonna put Rosario, who does not take a
- 1:21:35Speaker 2: good shot at all, especially right, especially the body you're
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: gonna fight Ramos. I mean, this is made for Ramos
- 1:21:43Speaker 2: to look good if he does not really black market
- 1:21:50Speaker 2: and that doesn't add enough suspense for me. The odds
- 1:21:52Speaker 2: makers are not fool. This is saying about like hyping
- 1:21:55Speaker 2: things up. On a card that don't deserve it. Even
- 1:21:58Speaker 2: though we're interested in Ramos, the odds makers have at
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: a minus four thousand favorite, so you know, and then
- 1:22:05Speaker 2: Cruz is a big favorite too, Bruis The test that
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: really keeps holding for me with him, that's almost getting
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: simple is if he's fighting a guy who's who's short enough.
- 1:22:18Speaker 2: Even if the guy is pretty good, he's gonna look spectacular.
- 1:22:22Speaker 2: But if the guy is at a certain height, yes,
- 1:22:27Speaker 2: just competent and he's got to reach. He's not knocking
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: the guy out, So you know, I look, Fierro's five
- 1:22:32Speaker 2: to seven. That's even though it's three inches taller than Cruz,
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: that's about at the height kind of like the level
- 1:22:41Speaker 2: where he can still handle it. But it's like when
- 1:22:44Speaker 2: it starts getting above that you got.
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: Whenever that overhand right that he's got, if they can't
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: get the top there, there's gonna be a problem.
- 1:22:53Speaker 2: Yeah, But when he can, I mean that's where you
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: get the comparisons to like some kind of mini Yeah.
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: That's where the pit bulls where.
- 1:23:03Speaker 2: But yes, you know, the guy at a certain height
- 1:23:06Speaker 2: and he's competent, the pit bull disappears, you know sometimes
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: And now I think you know, as you know, weight
- 1:23:13Speaker 2: classes get overrated. But for a guy like Cruz who's
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: five to four, you know, now he's fighting at one
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: hundred and forty pounds, he's already got the problems reaching up.
- 1:23:23Speaker 2: I don't think this is the fight that he's necessarily
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: going to have that trouble. I think ero five to
- 1:23:28Speaker 2: seven resume is not good.
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: Yeah, he just got hot a little or lately. But yeah,
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: you're right, a fight, a.
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: Fight is supposed to look good. I look at his
- 1:23:39Speaker 2: fight in the Ramos fight the same way. They're supposed
- 1:23:42Speaker 2: to look good in those fights. That's not what we
- 1:23:44Speaker 2: want for seventy nine to ninety five. But we have
- 1:23:47Speaker 2: a good main event, a real good main event, you know,
- 1:23:50Speaker 2: one of the best fights that can be made, and
- 1:23:52Speaker 2: an excellent co main event, and you know Figueroa and Fulton.
- 1:23:58Speaker 2: But I'm kind of saying, don't don't fooled by the
- 1:24:00Speaker 2: names on the undercard of yeah, Ramos and Cruise, because
- 1:24:07Speaker 2: they're they're they're in fights that they're really just supposed
- 1:24:09Speaker 2: to win and look good.
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: Like you said that, you know, we're gonna hear about
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: eighteen times that Rose are well, you know, marsh how
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: long this fight goes. But we're gonna hear the former unified.
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: You know, it's exactly what boxing does. It's like, all right,
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: this guy man, he used to be something, and now
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: this young guy is gonna take him out. And and
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: like you said, that's the only pressure that I that
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: there is a just a minor like you better go
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: ahead and look good then, because then we'll move you
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: up right back up, and it'll be a great year.
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: But if you don't, yeah, that might be a little troubling.
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: And and you know, there's not that many people who
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: actually thought Ramos won. And I just thought I remember
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: talking you know, to you about this a couple of times,
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: obviously right after the fight, Like I thought he won
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: the fight. But it doesn't mean we thought he had
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: a great perfooment.
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: Oh no, no, exactly. You know, he was kind of a.
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: Loss to take actually, because you know, I don't think
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: he lost. But then again, he could have won it cleaner.
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: So if you're gonna take a l you're gonna be young.
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: It's not a bad loss per se, you know what
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: I mean, In a sense, like I think he could
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: really take this and go someplace with it.
- 1:25:20Speaker 2: You know, that's that's a good point. Really. You know,
- 1:25:22Speaker 2: if he would have gotten the decision and it was
- 1:25:26Speaker 2: that that not good performance, then he would have rationalized
- 1:25:30Speaker 2: it as I want, and you know, wouldn't have thought
- 1:25:32Speaker 2: maybe there needed to be adjustments and things like that, or.
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: He legitimately just did get beat you know, and you're like, oh, okay,
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: well what the hell you know?
- 1:25:42Speaker 2: Yep, better for me yours. But yeah, if there's any
- 1:25:46Speaker 2: minor pressure and storyline, it is that. Yeah, if for
- 1:25:49Speaker 2: some reason Ramos doesn't look good and let's scenario go
- 1:25:54Speaker 2: the distance or something, then then you do have to say, hey,
- 1:25:57Speaker 2: you know, this is another stumble here. Maybe maybe he's
- 1:26:01Speaker 2: not quite as good as we thought he was.
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: I think he could.
- 1:26:06Speaker 2: I think he will turn out to be that good still.
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: But but I'm with you. He you know, fight like
- 1:26:12Speaker 2: this to start showing that you got to blow or
- 1:26:16Speaker 2: sorry away because.
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: It's the top of the year, get it done in
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: return this summer with a with a meaning fight. But yeah,
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: I think if you played a drinking game and you
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: had to drink every time they say unified former Unified champ,
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: I bet you'd be drunk by the end of it.
- 1:26:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean and morero Ronalo. You know, some people
- 1:26:38Speaker 2: don't like him. I actually don't mind a lot of
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: stuff he does, but that's the one thing for me.
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: He does that that I can't take. He starts doing
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: that former Unified in the four bel era, and just
- 1:26:50Speaker 2: like I just when he starts that, I just want to,
- 1:26:53Speaker 2: you know, mute, pushed the mute button. I mean, it's
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: just like nails on the chunk.
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: They're gonna start bringing up we never got Charlo heard.
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: It's like, well, obviously herd wasn't good enough to get
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: to his ass, Like, who cares? It's that It would
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: have been fun, don't get me wrong, but you know,
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: it's not the end of the world. We got a
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: bunch of great fights after that. You know, people get
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: stuck with that, and it's all for a unification or something, you.
- 1:27:19Speaker 2: Know, right, we got to get off that. That was
- 1:27:22Speaker 2: one of the only other items I wanted to mention
- 1:27:25Speaker 2: in the last two weeks because I thought it didn't
- 1:27:27Speaker 2: get enough press because people wanted to gloss over it,
- 1:27:31Speaker 2: like you know, Turkey Ala Chic has been saying, you know,
- 1:27:36Speaker 2: he wanted to have Opataia fight Gilberto.
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I saw you retweet that tweet about it.
- 1:27:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I remember that, and you know he owns the
- 1:27:48Speaker 2: ring now now Opataia is the ring title holder. And
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: then they're saying oh no.
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: Y basically so just being helpie happy with that, you know, so.
- 1:27:59Speaker 2: He's he's he missed the point immediately, like you've got
- 1:28:03Speaker 2: the historical and the magazine.
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: Now you bought the damn thing.
- 1:28:08Speaker 2: You love the damn thing. The first thing you want
- 1:28:10Speaker 2: to say when this comes up is, no, Ramirez is
- 1:28:13Speaker 2: going to fight Opataiah for the ring belt. We don't
- 1:28:16Speaker 2: care about the day you do.
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: What the hell you're gonna do, you know, w b.
- 1:28:19Speaker 2: C, you do whatever, and we're gonna pay mister Ramirez enough.
- 1:28:22Speaker 2: It could be worth his while to get the ring belt.
- 1:28:24Speaker 2: And of course Zerdo would take it. He would take it.
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: So that was just a totally missed opportunity, missing the
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: whole point. I mean, why by the ring if you're
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: going to do that, you know, you use it the
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: way you should be using it, and it's that's your
- 1:28:40Speaker 2: golden situation to use it. I mean, you know, with
- 1:28:43Speaker 2: these cards he's having, he should just be and he
- 1:28:46Speaker 2: should be conditioning someone. Frankly, these younger fans to that
- 1:28:49Speaker 2: who are are watching. It's a good opportunity, Like we're
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: putting the ring belt on the line here, you know
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: that this is all that matters to us.
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: You know, he's got to find his inner Trump. I
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: guess you know, right you say it, you're gonna have
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: to deal with it, you know, whether I like it
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: or not. You know, it's like, hey, he has gotten
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: the you know the people that normally would say no,
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: we can't do that, it's never done. What are you doing?
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: And then they're like, well, I'll just shut up. How
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: about that?
- 1:29:16Speaker 2: I think you make a good point about Trump because
- 1:29:18Speaker 2: you know, we're not like political fans of his, not
- 1:29:20Speaker 2: going to get into that. But but I think you're
- 1:29:22Speaker 2: one hundred percent right about And if there's any one
- 1:29:25Speaker 2: part I did like about him, it's what you're saying there,
- 1:29:27Speaker 2: like going back to twenty sixteen, which is amazing, but
- 1:29:30Speaker 2: it fits with the Turkey thing. Like you know, he
- 1:29:33Speaker 2: went against anything any focused group person would tell him,
- 1:29:37Speaker 2: opposing political expert, he ended up being right. So like sure,
- 1:29:42Speaker 2: you know, like it's just like you said, you're right,
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: I think it is. That's it's kind of a good comparison,
- 1:29:46Speaker 2: right your turkey, Ashik should just be saying I got
- 1:29:48Speaker 2: the ring.
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: They're gonna fall in line. They're gonna fall on line.
- 1:29:52Speaker 2: If they don't, I don't care what the WBC says
- 1:29:55Speaker 2: or anything. And the WBC wanting sanctioning fees want to
- 1:29:59Speaker 2: change a change their position at anyway if he would
- 1:30:01Speaker 2: start doing.
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: It, because he could just do that, we'll just challenge
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: you at midterms, so we'll just throw some money at you.
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: You'll be out of your seat. So you get which
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: one are you gonna do? You know, you choose, you.
- 1:30:10Speaker 2: Knows missed opportunity. I did want to mention that because
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: kind of under the radar, but to me, that meant
- 1:30:17Speaker 2: a lot. To me. I'm like, man, that that that
- 1:30:18Speaker 2: was just a big missed opportunity that you know, he's
- 1:30:23Speaker 2: if it's going to work, he's got to get in
- 1:30:25Speaker 2: that direction or it's just going to end up being
- 1:30:27Speaker 2: the same stuff.
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: And that's during my boxing twitter segment, I made sure
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: that you were here in spirit with your tweet. I
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: did read your tweet because I thought that was a
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: great point, you know, and that's also you know, the
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: other stuff we talked about, how we already did deals.
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: It's one thing to do to deal with the promoter
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: of course there, you know, but then you've already done
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: sponsorship deals with the belts. So it's kind of like,
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: or what is this guy about it? I'm still trying
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: to figure it out, you.
- 1:30:55Speaker 2: Know, right, I mean I thought I thought he was
- 1:30:58Speaker 2: getting the idea when he bought the ring, but then yeah,
- 1:31:00Speaker 2: like I said, this was to me, as the tweet,
- 1:31:02Speaker 2: it was the first big opportunity for him to properly
- 1:31:06Speaker 2: utilize it, and he misses it, you know, he misses it.
- 1:31:09Speaker 2: So that that that concern I mean, I love the
- 1:31:12Speaker 2: February twenty second card, but yeah, but that but that concern,
- 1:31:16Speaker 2: you know, that that he's that concerned me that he's
- 1:31:18Speaker 2: missing the he's missing the point there.
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: Real quick, Canelo Crawford seems like it's gonna happen. But
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: Canelo is still gonna fight in May. It appears I
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: don't know who against. I'm guessing not a great fight.
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: I don't know who knows. And then as of right now, uh,
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: it appears Crawford's just going to go right to it,
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: not even just just not even mess around and fight
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: in September and he is kind of used to that. Anyway.
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: The guy's stay is shape yet around, so we never
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: really have to He's very much like Floyd like that.
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: But you don't really have to worry about that.
- 1:31:58Speaker 2: You don't need that at this.
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: But so you know, that's something. It sounds like it's
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: gonna be a I don't know if it's gonna be
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: in Vegas or Sadi. They should put that damn thing
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: in Vegas if they want to sell, because if you
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: want to have your first big pay per view, you know,
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: they've had all these great fights, but none of them
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: have sold. If you want to put that, you got
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: to do in Vegas. But either way, what are your
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: thoughts about the rematch? They're lining up the old school
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: way between Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney on the same
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: card and then we'll fight in October. They'd have equal
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: time out of the ring, So I don't know why
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: they can't just go right to it because neither guy
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: has an advantage.
- 1:32:45Speaker 2: I thought that one just get right to it.
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: And then watch if you're gonna go to it. Okay, cool,
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: but like watching the fight, how much were we pining
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: for a rematch first?
- 1:32:56Speaker 2: Ay?
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: I mean it's worthy of a fight. I'm not saying that,
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: but you know, I watched the fight. I saw what happened.
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: You know, I don't need like, if you get to
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: the rematch, get right to it. That's my only problem.
- 1:33:09Speaker 2: That's I'm with you.
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: It's my only problem with that.
- 1:33:11Speaker 2: There's too many delays with things exactly like I'm with
- 1:33:14Speaker 2: you one hundred percent. That is another good example, like
- 1:33:17Speaker 2: just get to that.
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: Then someone messes up the wrist and they're gonna have surgery,
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: and you screw that up, and then it's December and
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: you're like, ship missed the opportunity.
- 1:33:26Speaker 2: You're longer away from the first fight month. Still it
- 1:33:30Speaker 2: kind of matters, you know, Yeah, just you could just
- 1:33:33Speaker 2: get to that there there this I'm always suspecting boxing nowadays,
- 1:33:39Speaker 2: especially with the you know, a fight's getting lined up
- 1:33:44Speaker 2: that's not that good, and it's like, oh, just accept
- 1:33:46Speaker 2: this one and then you're gonna get this next.
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:33:50Speaker 2: The more we've we've gone on in the years, the
- 1:33:53Speaker 2: less that happens. Exactly, not a guarantee anymore.
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: So, like we're talking about earlier, if you want to
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: give Junto and Innu way on the same curve, then
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: they Okay, I'll take that. That's different. You know, these
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: are fresh guys, these are new you know, there's it's
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: worth it. But yeah, real quick, just because I haven't
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: been on a TOACU lately. Uh Stanonius in ennis best
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: fight at welterweight. I'm I'm ecstatic that he finally got
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: a big fight.
- 1:34:28Speaker 2: Both really it's a good fight, a real good action
- 1:34:31Speaker 2: fight too. It should be very good action. I do
- 1:34:35Speaker 2: agree with with you know, I've seen it some people
- 1:34:39Speaker 2: posting about it, and I agree. It came to my
- 1:34:42Speaker 2: mind immediately it's finally getting a big fight back to
- 1:34:45Speaker 2: Atlantic City.
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: True, that's a good point. And we just mentioned Trump.
- 1:34:51Speaker 2: And I've been running and I've been running the Atlanta
- 1:34:54Speaker 2: I've run the Atlantic City Marathon. I think the last
- 1:34:56Speaker 2: four years, you know, been there before that for boxing
- 1:34:59Speaker 2: and stuff. But I'm of the opinion spending that time
- 1:35:04Speaker 2: there over the last four years, I think it's I
- 1:35:08Speaker 2: think it's just been I think it's been coming back.
- 1:35:11Speaker 2: You know, some people just have them down there, Like
- 1:35:13Speaker 2: I've had good experiences, So this to me fits it.
- 1:35:16Speaker 2: Like I'm like, man, I'm like things seem to be
- 1:35:19Speaker 2: coming back. I see a lot of renovations. You know,
- 1:35:22Speaker 2: the oceans. You got the ocean there, it's beautiful right there.
- 1:35:27Speaker 2: And the boardwalk which is busy and stuff, Yeah, busy
- 1:35:31Speaker 2: and stuff. And you've got got the casino crowd. It's
- 1:35:34Speaker 2: not like Vegas, but you have it. So you know,
- 1:35:36Speaker 2: you're you're in between you know, Philadelphia and New York.
- 1:35:42Speaker 2: I think it's you know, you've got a good boxing history.
- 1:35:45Speaker 2: Good to finally have a big fight going back. So
- 1:35:48Speaker 2: that to me is a big part of the story.
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: Like, uh, that point, I'm glad you brought that up.
- 1:35:52Speaker 2: I want to see how that goes. I'm pretty optimistic
- 1:35:56Speaker 2: about it. But kind I think a c has been
- 1:35:59Speaker 2: ready for that to be back and it hasn't happened.
- 1:36:02Speaker 2: With the real big fight. This is a big one,
- 1:36:06Speaker 2: and it's going to be in Atlantic City. We need
- 1:36:08Speaker 2: things for us sensibilities, like we're saying, So you got
- 1:36:11Speaker 2: this fighter who's fought in the US a lot in
- 1:36:14Speaker 2: Atlantic City, so you know, with where boxing is in
- 1:36:17Speaker 2: the US, we're at a point now where anything we
- 1:36:21Speaker 2: can see that has some US appeal. Like now, like
- 1:36:25Speaker 2: you said, especially in Vegas, you know, US boxing is
- 1:36:28Speaker 2: going to need at least some things like that really
- 1:36:32Speaker 2: to keep it going. So I did think of one
- 1:36:36Speaker 2: weird I did think of one weird Turkey ala chic scenario.
- 1:36:40Speaker 2: People are gonna laugh, but the sport needs it, so
- 1:36:43Speaker 2: I want to throw it out there. I haven't seen
- 1:36:44Speaker 2: anybody throw this one out there, but I thought, I
- 1:36:47Speaker 2: don't know how much body it would take. Now, I
- 1:36:50Speaker 2: know the fight would last thirty seconds, and that would
- 1:36:53Speaker 2: be my expectation. So don't get me wrong, But how
- 1:36:58Speaker 2: about how about Turkey alask offers Jake Paul a bunch
- 1:37:02Speaker 2: of buddy to fight Ustik for the real, the real
- 1:37:05Speaker 2: heavyweight title. Ustik takes him out in thirty seconds. Yeah,
- 1:37:09Speaker 2: Paul gets his payday and then all these temporary Jake
- 1:37:14Speaker 2: Paul boxing if you want to call him that is,
- 1:37:17Speaker 2: even though he's, you know, in his late thirties. What's
- 1:37:20Speaker 2: the real heavyweight champ is? What the difference is? Yeah,
- 1:37:23Speaker 2: maybe nobody lose. Maybe it's only thirty seconds, but maybe
- 1:37:26Speaker 2: nobody loses in the sense that boxing can then have
- 1:37:29Speaker 2: that moment. Paul could get a big pay day, she
- 1:37:33Speaker 2: could get an event, and Paul could wrap it up.
- 1:37:36Speaker 2: Paul can wrap it up, get yuh forty seconds. But
- 1:37:39Speaker 2: it's got to end somewhere.
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: So that's a good point. And there's still so many
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: people back to that Tyson fight. I just want to
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: see his ass lose back, don't make it.
- 1:37:49Speaker 2: They want to see his ass, and.
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: That would that would do the trick, That would do
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: the trick.
- 1:37:53Speaker 2: Yeah, he waited for like what twenty Yeah, yeah, so
- 1:37:57Speaker 2: you know, okay, he's waiting.
- 1:37:59Speaker 1: A yeah, you want to be up here. Okay, cool,
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: we'll be up here.
- 1:38:05Speaker 2: Who sick doesn't weigh that much for a bodered heavyweight.
- 1:38:08Speaker 2: So uh yeah, I thought I was thinking Paul could
- 1:38:12Speaker 2: ele it that. I thought, wait, why don't we do
- 1:38:13Speaker 2: Why don't we do that and have Jake Paul gone
- 1:38:15Speaker 2: in like thirty seconds? That'll be the end of it,
- 1:38:19Speaker 2: and he could get a big pay day and be
- 1:38:21Speaker 2: good for boxing to see what it's heavyweight champion and
- 1:38:25Speaker 2: all these Jake Paul boxing fans could watch, could watch
- 1:38:28Speaker 2: the fight.
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: Yeah, and you know, if anybody's earned it, it's Usik too,
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: you know what I mean. The guy's a road warriors,
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: gone through so many quality fights, and you know, he's
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: shown so many different strategies in the ring, and you know,
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: and the guys just the hell of a fighter. And
- 1:38:44Speaker 1: so if there is somebody I want to see you
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: get a payday and get some shine that he normally won,
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: it is him.
- 1:38:51Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I thought. It'd be a good way
- 1:38:53Speaker 2: for him to go out with some exposure too.
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: And it would be really good promotion because you know,
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: Usik will give it right back to him. He's a
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: funny guy, you know, So yeah, yeah, who knows. Yeah,
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: I saw that the Paul brothers on it Max. They
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: they they had But I think that's just the reality show.
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: I don't think that's an actual fight. I'm pretty sure
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: it's like a like a documentary about them or something
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: like that.
- 1:39:20Speaker 2: That's you know, if he's going to keep if he
- 1:39:23Speaker 2: if Jake Paul is going to keep doing it, it's
- 1:39:24Speaker 2: got to have an end somewhere. So let's let's start
- 1:39:27Speaker 2: thinking about what the what a good end game, what
- 1:39:30Speaker 2: a good end?
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: And I'm sure he's getting sick of training too, John,
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: you know, he's like, I need to I need to
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: get the hell out of this thing. You know, I
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: need a parachute. Where's my out?
- 1:39:38Speaker 2: You know, where's the out?
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: Well? Any other items sir, before you before you have
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: yourself a good night.
- 1:39:47Speaker 2: I think that's it, Chris. I think that'll that'll that'll
- 1:39:49Speaker 2: be something something mind twister. I can leave leave.
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a good way to leave.
- 1:39:57Speaker 2: For our big February, which will be good.
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: Yeah. I'm excited. I'm really. I mean, in some ways,
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: it's kind of like I'm refreshed, you know, but I'm
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: just like, yes, I want like I'm feeding for some fights,
- 1:40:10Speaker 1: you know. So it's been too long since we've got
- 1:40:12Speaker 1: a big fight. So yeah, we got a hell of
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: a February, and I appreciate you taking time out per usual,
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: and we'll talk to you next week.
- 1:40:21Speaker 2: All right, Chris, great talking to me as always.
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: Have a good one you too, alrighty, so do yeah,
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: same thing kind of what he was talking about with Ramos.
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: I'm still kind of high on him, man. I'm still
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: kind of high on him. I just am. I think
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: he's a good fighter. Man. It's kind of funny because
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: right around the same time him, him and Elijah Garcia,
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: we're doing some stuff where you're like, okay, shit, these
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: guys are really young and ready to go and excuse me.
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: Sometimes sometimes those young dudes will whether it's Wade or whatever,
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: they'll just kind of stumble a little bit. It doesn't
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: always result in a loss, but they'll just kind of
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: stumble and then they get their shit together hopefully, And
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: because shit, you could say that about Benavitez really if
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: you think about him having to uh, you know, had
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: a mediocre outing, had to uh as we know, got popped,
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: but then had to fight old boy again and looked
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: a lot better. So you know, hopefully hopefully that's uh,
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: you know, hopefully he has a good performance, that's for sure. Yeah,
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: and there is something about that angel you know, I
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: don't know Fierro, there's just something about him that I
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: could see and giving them a little a little problems,
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: but you know, and the same breath. It's like, you know,
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: I do think it is a showcase Quao. I am
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: really looking forward to see him. Hernandez as well. Moten's
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: on the undercard, Tayet Gabrielle Taiez is on the undercard.
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: But yeah, especially those first two fights, I do think,
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: you know, stylistically, those other fights will probably deliver as
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: well though beyond the first two. So sometimes the entertainment
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: value isn't always well, it has to be plus two
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: fifty and down because some of those fights can be
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: you know, just so so so. I think you know,
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: that kind of plays into it as well. Yeah, he
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: did mention Dalton Smith. He didn't have much issues there
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: that uh Harry uh Scarf and Walker like Walker was losing.
- 1:43:11Speaker 1: I don't actually let me check the score cards. I
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: mean he was losing pretty much. O. There's an official scorecards,
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: but he was losing pretty much every round. I mean,
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: which round did you give him? And then he freaking
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: eleventh round knocked him out. That that was something that
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: was that was awesome. Also, uh Ellie uh Scolton, Ay,
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: she won, she won fairly, you know, convincing. Yeah, it'll
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: be interesting to see Dalton Smith. I do, I do.
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: I do kind of keep my eye on him and
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: maybe you know, the the sanctioning belts will put some stuff,
- 1:43:58Speaker 1: you know, will line some stuff off up there and
- 1:44:01Speaker 1: get him a big fight here kind of soon trying
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: to think here, Oh, Adams adam Azein In Sergei Lippinetz
- 1:44:11Speaker 1: Adam Mazim is another young fighter. Well Callium Simpson's also
- 1:44:18Speaker 1: fighting this weekend. But you know, I don't think he'll
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: get tested too much in that fight. I'm I'm pretty
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: sure I mentioned that Hernandez that prospect once again, just
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: just a prospect right now, nothing crazy, you know. And
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: then we do have we do have who else is
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: oh Shields? Yeah? What am I thinking? Yeah? Shields fights?
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: That's like is that Monday? What is that Sunday night
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: or Monday? What day is that? Because Clarissa Shields she's
- 1:44:56Speaker 1: gonna win. But Clarissa Shields is fighting too. LA see
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: more as a fairly close matchup there. But yeah, I
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: think overall, I think it's a really good card. I
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: think if we flash back a while ago, maybe a
- 1:45:14Speaker 1: decade plus, we'd probably look at the well, then again,
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: if we go back fifteen years or something, it probably
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: would be you know, seventy five dollars. I guess you
- 1:45:27Speaker 1: could say that, right. But as far as the co
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: feature and some of the under cards, I don't forget
- 1:45:35Speaker 1: what we were getting though too prior to that. So
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: we we've been kind of spoiled with some of these
- 1:45:45Speaker 1: co features and just cards in general. And it's not
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: just Sadi, I'm saying, just in general. So I think
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: now our standard is up, you know, and obviously that's
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: a you know, undercard wise, you really can't beat that
- 1:46:06Speaker 1: February twenty second card. You just can't. It's so deep
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: with competitive fights and all different styles and whatnot, and
- 1:46:16Speaker 1: meaningful fights too, not just a great brawl type card,
- 1:46:21Speaker 1: although I think we'll get plenty of that, but this
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: is a great fight. Benefit is a morele and it
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: is one of those fights that we generally don't get
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: this early. So we'll see how people respond to the
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: person that loses. Because you know, for all this best
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: versus best, chasing greatness and all that don't beat you know,
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: Floyd Mayweather ruined the game because of the undefeated, all
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: that right, all that bullshit, And it's really a lot
- 1:47:07Speaker 1: of times it's the fan bases. In the boxing fan
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: base is the ones that fuck it up. It has
- 1:47:13Speaker 1: nothing to do with the goddamn fighter a lot of
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: the times. That don't get me wrong that there is
- 1:47:18Speaker 1: some times where management, like Gifonte when he was younger,
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: they weren't gonna face Loma at that time. To an extent,
- 1:47:28Speaker 1: I get that, but it's like I don't know, I
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: just see time and time again, these fighters get dogged
- 1:47:41Speaker 1: in somebody's gotta oh or somebody's oh gotta go fight
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: and then but then they'll turn around. It's just so like,
- 1:47:49Speaker 1: I love passion, but when your passion becomes just emotion
- 1:47:54Speaker 1: and then it's fanboy emotion and you're doing anything to
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: put fighter a certain fighter down, to put your fighter up,
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: that's where you lose me. But then turn right the
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: fuck around and be like, this is what's wrong with
- 1:48:09Speaker 1: the sport in that old Floyd Mayweather shit Like it's
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: just the stupidest shit I've ever heard. I mean, just like, uh,
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: you know the Mayweather Pakia stuff, all about that put
- 1:48:22Speaker 1: boxing way back. You know it'll never be the same
- 1:48:25Speaker 1: after that, Okay, but anyway it does appear. I'm looking
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: at Jake Donovan's uh a tweak from him not long
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: ago saying that you know that Bob Aaron sounds like
- 1:48:42Speaker 1: he's saying right here, MGM, gran is what Jake's saying.
- 1:48:48Speaker 1: So confirming that innu Way will take on Aicasso is mandatory.
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: It's not Knakazani and it's not happening next So like
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: I said, it is, it is kind of crazy how
- 1:49:06Speaker 1: you don't hear the same shit shit even with Benevitez
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: and Morele, this fight wouldn't happened. We'd never in Canelo
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: fight wasn't happening. We'd never hear the end of it.
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: Speaking of the Canelo David Benaftez on The Ring podcast,
- 1:49:24Speaker 1: this is a quote. When somebody approaches you like that
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: and calls you out like that, you didn't need to
- 1:49:30Speaker 1: give them money. You don't need to give them money.
- 1:49:34Speaker 1: It's like, okay, dude, whatever. Oh that heavyweight fight on
- 1:49:44Speaker 1: pro Box that that was. That wasn't good. That wasn't
- 1:49:49Speaker 1: good at all. Golden Boy did have a Golden Boy
- 1:49:52Speaker 1: fight night. I saw that that body shot knockout by
- 1:49:58Speaker 1: uh By Caden. I can't remember his last name. It's
- 1:50:01Speaker 1: like gri Griffiths or something like that. That was pretty
- 1:50:04Speaker 1: That was pretty good. I like that. But yeah, just
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: looking at the Ring magazine and saying anyway, Bob would
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: confirmed the next fight, but also anyway added that he
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: will be fighting later in twenty twenty five in Sadi.
- 1:50:19Speaker 1: So I don't know. Here's what I'm talking about fight
- 1:50:25Speaker 1: Hub TV, sure or false. Anyway should be considered as
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: a as one of the top ten fighters of all time.
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: I mean really, someone sent me a still of that
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: between Between the Realms podcast. You know it's the Ring thing.
- 1:50:53Speaker 1: It's just those three together. It's just like, what the fuck.
- 1:50:58Speaker 1: And this is what I'm telling you, Dan. Dan used
- 1:51:01Speaker 1: to make fun of people doing YouTube shit, like who
- 1:51:04Speaker 1: the fuck? What do they have anything to do with it?
- 1:51:06Speaker 1: Now you look who he's doing his fucking YouTube podcast
- 1:51:10Speaker 1: with and it just cracks me the fuck up. And
- 1:51:14Speaker 1: I will not be watching that. Sorry. Uh you know,
- 1:51:17Speaker 1: if they have a guest or something and I need
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: to do it just your information or whatever, Okay, but
- 1:51:23Speaker 1: you know, Overaul, it's like Jesus Christ, that's just there
- 1:51:29Speaker 1: is an update shouts out to brunch boxing. This comes
- 1:51:31Speaker 1: from that page the Twitter Twitter spear brunch Boxing update.
- 1:51:40Speaker 1: Wife of Jamal Herring granted permanent protective order. Shen Herring
- 1:51:47Speaker 1: has been granted that against obviously Jamel Herring, according to
- 1:51:54Speaker 1: the Warren County Court records. The order, which replaces a
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: temporary ey sing order that was granted earlier this month,
- 1:52:02Speaker 1: runs for a period of five years and states that
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: the boxer is to have no contact with his wife.
- 1:52:10Speaker 1: It goes on to say Harry was booked on a
- 1:52:12Speaker 1: mis demeanor charge of assault and domestic violence. So just
- 1:52:18Speaker 1: to kind of keep you updated with that, what else
- 1:52:26Speaker 1: we got here. Oh, roll Boxing shouts out to Rold.
- 1:52:32Speaker 1: He said, the win today anyway upped his mark to
- 1:52:35Speaker 1: twenty two and zero with twenty KOs and title fights.
- 1:52:42Speaker 1: I mean, that dude is just special. He really is.
- 1:52:45Speaker 1: He really is. Oh and then I remember kind of
- 1:52:48Speaker 1: following this Omar Chavez and miss Al Rodriguez that the
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: whole way and shit in the wig and after and
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: the that shit. You know, that was really weird. Dude,
- 1:53:03Speaker 1: Chavez did all that to just get beat anyway. Yeah,
- 1:53:09Speaker 1: that was that was a strange one. Man. I just
- 1:53:11Speaker 1: I couldn't that one really dop me off. It's like,
- 1:53:16Speaker 1: what the hell, dude, Like, you're gonna do all that
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: and just get your ass whooped. Like I mentioned, this
- 1:53:22Speaker 1: is pug boxing about Canelo saying he still wants to
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: fight on singing to my Weekend TBA for the opponent,
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: but thenk Crawford is likely just to go right to it,
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: which you know, it's probably a smart thing to do.
- 1:53:43Speaker 1: I mean, it'll be a little over a year since
- 1:53:48Speaker 1: he would have fought, But like I mentioned, you can
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: kind of not kind of you can depend on Crawford
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: to be ready to go, and you know, maybe one
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: sixty eight, it's just gonna be much for him. There's
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: a good chance that that's why he loses the fight. Obviously,
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: the pace of Canelo does kind of lend itself to,
- 1:54:13Speaker 1: you know, for Terrence to have some success, of course,
- 1:54:16Speaker 1: but my point is, why go up to sixty eight
- 1:54:21Speaker 1: in May to look kind of mediocre potentially? You know?
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: I mean remember when Lusk went up his first two fights,
- 1:54:28Speaker 1: when he went up cruiser way to heavyweight, they didn't
- 1:54:30Speaker 1: look all that good and it kind of skewed me
- 1:54:35Speaker 1: too much, too negative about it. Actually, I look too
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: deep into those fights, I think thinking that, man, I
- 1:54:44Speaker 1: don't know, dude, it just doesn't seem like you know.
- 1:54:47Speaker 1: So we'll see how you know, who Canelo fights. We
- 1:54:53Speaker 1: do have Brown and Nicholson, Tierra and March twenty second
- 1:55:02Speaker 1: in Australia. It gets on that card with Cambosa's and whatnot?
- 1:55:08Speaker 1: Is Thurman on that card too? Is that the I
- 1:55:11Speaker 1: can't remember? No, he's not on that card. I can't remember.
- 1:55:16Speaker 1: Here's Gritty from the underground shouts out to Gritty. It's
- 1:55:21Speaker 1: a rare occasion that you see bad heavyweight fight. I
- 1:55:24Speaker 1: don't know about that. You do see him a fair amount.
- 1:55:26Speaker 1: But this Milton Davis matches one of them. I never
- 1:55:30Speaker 1: want to see Milton on my television again.
- 1:55:33Speaker 2: Ya.
- 1:55:34Speaker 1: It was bad, dude, to the point where I was like, Eh,
- 1:55:36Speaker 1: I'm good. Here is some crazy what would the kids
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: call it glazing? This is beyond glaze, dude, This is
- 1:55:46Speaker 1: like quadruple glaze. There pose needed in there. I don't know.
- 1:55:50Speaker 1: Pretty boy Floyd versus Ray Savage at one thirty would
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: have been one of the best fights of the twenty
- 1:55:56Speaker 1: first century. Now. I love me some Ray Savage, but
- 1:56:00Speaker 1: let's just calm down, folks. Let's calm down with that. Okay,
- 1:56:05Speaker 1: let's calm down. Rold says, to that Ticasso, MJ and
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: Nick Ball run, he said, all solid fights. I see
- 1:56:16Speaker 1: what I see what looks like a bit of decline
- 1:56:19Speaker 1: of speed and reflex. So move to featherweight might be wise.
- 1:56:25Speaker 1: It's kind of an interesting, uh interesting thing to say there.
- 1:56:29Speaker 1: And then, of course, kind of what John was saying
- 1:56:32Speaker 1: about Eddie anyway is ducking MJ. He's been ordered to
- 1:56:36Speaker 1: fight him twice. He had two Guinea fights instead of MJ.
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: He's talking about Picastle in Vegas. Who gives a fuck?
- 1:56:45Speaker 1: You know? It's like, well, honestly, like NJ duck people too,
- 1:56:50Speaker 1: So you know, I don't. I don't. MJ's a fine fighter,
- 1:56:55Speaker 1: you know, but I don't know. I just I try
- 1:57:00Speaker 1: not to look too. I don't think he's ducking him,
- 1:57:03Speaker 1: you know. I think. I don't think that's the big
- 1:57:06Speaker 1: story there. I really don't. I'm here's some more gritty
- 1:57:10Speaker 1: uh Andy Kruz boxing beautifully. I don't understand what all
- 1:57:14Speaker 1: the hating's about. Yeah, I mean yeah, I do think
- 1:57:21Speaker 1: people are hyper critical about him, and I think it's
- 1:57:24Speaker 1: because he's Cuban. I can be critical of spots in
- 1:57:30Speaker 1: that fight, like I was, but overall, you know, he
- 1:57:34Speaker 1: was doing his thing and that guy was a legit fighter.
- 1:57:37Speaker 1: Adrian del Gatto shouts out to him, follow him at
- 1:57:41Speaker 1: Adrian D eight nine two six h. Pacheco passed another
- 1:57:45Speaker 1: test that he continues to establish himself at one sixty eight.
- 1:57:49Speaker 1: It was a solid performance against tough and determined fighter
- 1:57:52Speaker 1: and Nelson. The physical tools are there. I think what's
- 1:57:55Speaker 1: next is his development, putting it all together more consistently.
- 1:57:59Speaker 1: And that's why he's a great follow because that's well
- 1:58:03Speaker 1: said Dan the boxing man who's celebrating his birthday today.
- 1:58:09Speaker 1: He said, both signed the matchroom. Let's see it. But
- 1:58:12Speaker 1: Checko Berlango Berlango. I just said Berlanga sometime in twenty
- 1:58:16Speaker 1: twenty five. Yeah, man, that works for me, Eddie Hearn
- 1:58:22Speaker 1: said Deshaun Zettel. The plan is Shakor Stevenson against Schofield
- 1:58:27Speaker 1: and Zeppada, then Gervonte. That's twenty twenty five. That fight
- 1:58:31Speaker 1: is going to be one of the biggest fights in
- 1:58:32Speaker 1: the world where it is his owner, Amazon is wherever
- 1:58:37Speaker 1: the best opportunity for the fight lies. That's how it
- 1:58:40Speaker 1: should work. But if he has the A side, you know,
- 1:58:43Speaker 1: that's not how that fucking shit's going and it and
- 1:58:47Speaker 1: it honestly like it should be on Amazon or on
- 1:58:51Speaker 1: at least on both really, but you'd like to get
- 1:58:55Speaker 1: that in front of as many eyes as possible. Someone
- 1:58:59Speaker 1: sent me this Canelo, who's Canlo gonna fight in May?
- 1:59:02Speaker 1: Is he Checko and Billy Charlo or Skull? I wouldn't
- 1:59:06Speaker 1: doubt if it's that William Skull. I don't want it
- 1:59:11Speaker 1: to be Jermal Charlow because he's been out of the road.
- 1:59:13Speaker 1: We got to see him in the ring first. I
- 1:59:18Speaker 1: don't know here's Chris w Uh. He noted that his
- 1:59:22Speaker 1: zone pivoted by styling himself as the Spotify of sport
- 1:59:26Speaker 1: real quick once Netflix. Yeah, they they did pivot real
- 1:59:31Speaker 1: quick once Netflix entered the game. Yeah it is. It
- 1:59:34Speaker 1: is funny. Yeah, that is kind of a funny thing.
- 1:59:38Speaker 1: And you know, there's all sorts of reports that I'm
- 1:59:40Speaker 1: not gonna dig deep intonight, but basically what I've been
- 1:59:44Speaker 1: saying about the zone, what you know, uh uh, you know,
- 1:59:48Speaker 1: a majority or i should say a minority of people
- 1:59:55Speaker 1: I've been saying, but we've been saying that for a
- 1:59:58Speaker 1: while that it's just you know, as a hardcore boxing fan,
- 2:00:04Speaker 1: I've had his own since it came here in September
- 2:00:09Speaker 1: of was that September twenty eighteen, just twenty nineteen, That
- 2:00:17Speaker 1: second and fourth quarter they popped off. But when you
- 2:00:21Speaker 1: look at how many subscribers they have now in the
- 2:00:24Speaker 1: whole world. I know they do good in Japan, they
- 2:00:27Speaker 1: do good in other places, but if you look at
- 2:00:29Speaker 1: how much money they owe for rights, and if you
- 2:00:34Speaker 1: look at the not even dent they've put in here,
- 2:00:37Speaker 1: it's just factual shit, dude. That's all. That's all it is.
- 2:00:45Speaker 1: If belts don't matter. How do you measure greatness in
- 2:00:47Speaker 1: the support of boxing. Belts matter, bro, I don't care
- 2:00:51Speaker 1: how much politics and boxing. The man with the gold
- 2:00:54Speaker 1: makes the rules and left. He said, a resume, that's
- 2:00:58Speaker 1: what it is. Manny Pact never been in a unified champ.
- 2:01:02Speaker 1: We don't question his greatness. Shakur was talking about politics
- 2:01:06Speaker 1: of being undisputed and unified. Yeah, I mean sure, man
- 2:01:11Speaker 1: being unified or you know, undisputed is great if that's
- 2:01:16Speaker 1: if it means something. Sure, it means something, right, as
- 2:01:21Speaker 1: long as you have the rest of your resume to
- 2:01:23Speaker 1: fill it out. But if Crawford only was undisputed at one,
- 2:01:29Speaker 1: people will be like, oh, Pastal's postal is pretty good.
- 2:01:32Speaker 1: But who else? Who else they'd be? You know that
- 2:01:34Speaker 1: type of thing. But he went on, this is uh
- 2:01:38Speaker 1: Adam from Messing boxing. I do think Potenko has the
- 2:01:42Speaker 1: tools to be a monster, but he hasn't put it
- 2:01:44Speaker 1: all together. Could get there though a lot of inconsistency
- 2:01:48Speaker 1: fight by fight, but he also showed a lot as well. Yeah,
- 2:01:51Speaker 1: that's the thing with him, like it's it's in there.
- 2:01:54Speaker 1: Back to del Gato here, I can see benefit is
- 2:01:59Speaker 1: morel having similar Evan flow to Canelo and Lara interesting.
- 2:02:03Speaker 1: Rounds ninth through twelve will be critical if the fight
- 2:02:06Speaker 1: plays out, I think it or like that, I think
- 2:02:09Speaker 1: it will. Benafita's early pressure body works slows morale just
- 2:02:12Speaker 1: enough to allow combinations to land effectively. Late. Yeah man,
- 2:02:18Speaker 1: I'm I'm I'm really looking for this fight. It does
- 2:02:22Speaker 1: look like Concura Taraji, along with the triple header in Japan,
- 2:02:29Speaker 1: is done for March thirteenth. He's taken on uh. I
- 2:02:34Speaker 1: think it's Yuri a Kui or kuai or cool something
- 2:02:37Speaker 1: like that. Someone sent me a message with that. And
- 2:02:44Speaker 1: then Chris Mannix talked about how BAM and Puma is
- 2:02:48Speaker 1: possible in May Eddie hearn, we want Bam to fight Puma. Martinez.
- 2:02:52Speaker 1: I spoke to Lewis to Cubis this week and do
- 2:02:59Speaker 1: you want to make the fight? He says. Turkey knows
- 2:03:02Speaker 1: the pound, knows the pound for poundless and probably the
- 2:03:06Speaker 1: only member that missing that's missing is Ria season is
- 2:03:11Speaker 1: Jesse Rodriguez. In an ideal world, Bam Puma and May Yeah, man,
- 2:03:18Speaker 1: sign me up for that fight. That would be just
- 2:03:22Speaker 1: fine with me. Oh, nick Ball, let's finish on this.
- 2:03:27Speaker 1: Nick Ball said, I think he said this on ox
- 2:03:30Speaker 1: Sport if I remember correctly, he said, if Turkey wants
- 2:03:36Speaker 1: to make the fight with him in any way, he
- 2:03:39Speaker 1: better know he's the A side. I mean, holy delusional,
- 2:03:45Speaker 1: Like hey, he said, basically like I'm you know, he's
- 2:03:49Speaker 1: coming up and wait and like I'm the champ. So
- 2:03:54Speaker 1: it's like, nah, dude, that's not how that works. Man,
- 2:03:57Speaker 1: You're you're not the champ. I did see Alip on
- 2:04:00Speaker 1: brunch boxing from a video of that from pro box
- 2:04:04Speaker 1: with I think it was a left uppercut. Nice It
- 2:04:08Speaker 1: says scores a devastating knockout that uhl saint. Yeah, that
- 2:04:14Speaker 1: was That was a nice little clip there. That was
- 2:04:17Speaker 1: a nice little kid clip. I think that. I think. Oh, here,
- 2:04:30Speaker 1: here's one more thing kind of interesting actually here. So
- 2:04:36Speaker 1: Tank Davis was talking to Boxing News Rob over there
- 2:04:43Speaker 1: and he said, you know what if you win, list
- 2:04:47Speaker 1: off some guys and so he started asking, would you
- 2:04:49Speaker 1: fight Ryan Garcia again? What would you fight Tale Femo,
- 2:04:54Speaker 1: Isa Cruz again, Floyd Mayweather, Ryan garcias of course Stevenson.
- 2:04:59Speaker 1: He said yes to all of them, so we'll see.
- 2:05:05Speaker 1: And he's not retiring after this year because he said
- 2:05:12Speaker 1: he's got that multiple fight deal now, So yeah, let's
- 2:05:18Speaker 1: end it on this. This is an update from Jake
- 2:05:21Speaker 1: Donovan pro Box one. Ericson Lubin are Drill Holmes the
- 2:05:27Speaker 1: purse bit they edged Salita Promotions by five thousand, So
- 2:05:33Speaker 1: Lubinholmes IBF eliminator assigned to determine the mandatory for Bakrahm,
- 2:05:40Speaker 1: So then I think he has. So that's a big, big,
- 2:05:46Speaker 1: big win for for pro Box. Someone sent me this
- 2:05:51Speaker 1: just just a little bit ago. It's uh, the Paul
- 2:05:55Speaker 1: Brothers March twenty seven, Max. Honestly, I think that's like
- 2:06:00Speaker 1: just a documentary about them or a series about them.
- 2:06:02Speaker 1: I don't think they're fighting. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't.
- 2:06:06Speaker 1: I don't believe they're fighting. But that's a good fight.
- 2:06:10Speaker 1: Holmes in ah In ericson Lubin and that's gonna be
- 2:06:15Speaker 1: on Probox, I believe. So yeah, I like that. And
- 2:06:19Speaker 1: basically Bakrahm does get a as it says in the
- 2:06:26Speaker 1: Ring Magazine from Jake, he said, you know they do.
- 2:06:29Speaker 1: He does get a volunteer, a voluntary title defense, so
- 2:06:34Speaker 1: he doesn't have to go right to that fight. So
- 2:06:37Speaker 1: we'll see. Anyway, I think I'm gonna get out of here.
- 2:06:40Speaker 1: Enjoy the fights. It does appear that my schedule's trending
- 2:06:46Speaker 1: to Tuesdays, so I should be able to do a
- 2:06:49Speaker 1: bunch of Tuesdays in a row. That's the hope, of course. Anyway,
- 2:06:53Speaker 1: Enjoy the fights, be safe, be
