- 0:02We're talking HVAC here on the Checker Pro Radio Show with our HVAC specialist.
- 0:08He's an expert in this field. Nathan Schaefer, how are you?
- 0:12Hey, I'm Dolphinano, Jim. How are you? I'm living the dream.
- 0:14Thank you so much for joining me today here on the Checker Pro Radio Show.
- 0:18You are my go-to guy for HVAC. And for those of you who've heard HVAC,
- 0:23but you know what that means, most of us have a complete HVAC system in our
- 0:27home, but some have different ways of heating and cooling.
- 0:29HVAC is for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.
- 0:34And they're important components to your home.
- 0:37These are mechanical systems. And a lot of us today have a complete system,
- 0:42I would say, where you have your heating and your air conditioning system combined.
- 0:47But some of us in our area, I guess, just still have a heating system.
- 0:51We might have other ways to air condition, but when you're putting in a new
- 0:54home or a new system, you're putting in the whole thing.
- 0:57And they're very, very popular. So today I want to talk about why is March the
- 1:02best month to put in a new HVAC system?
- 1:07Yeah, it's a phenomenal month. And one of the big reasons is oftentimes with
- 1:12an HVAC system, maybe it's not the funnest purchase. We don't make that purchase very often.
- 1:18And so what happens is we typically don't do that until, Oh shoot, I need it yesterday.
- 1:24Right. It's 4th of July weekend. It's blazing hot.
- 1:27Every HVAC company is running 24 seven, right? They're booked out and you got family coming over.
- 1:34It's 95 degrees and, and now it's done.
- 1:37And, uh, and so then there you are stuck. And so if you can think of these things
- 1:41ahead of time and plan ahead, um, you beat that A.C..
- 1:46Rush of the season, right? And so oftentimes in March, you can oftentimes,
- 1:51you know, get some big savings.
- 1:53It's a time when it helps fill the schedule for us and keeps our guys working.
- 1:58So we're able to pass that savings along to our clients.
- 2:01It, like I said, it allows you to beat the summer rush. So now when summertime
- 2:04comes and that, that AC is needed and it's running every single day,
- 2:08you're ready, you're prepared, you're under warranty.
- 2:12Most of our systems come with 10 and 12-year warranties. So it gives you that
- 2:15total peace of mind, as well as now when the busy season or the heat of the
- 2:20summer comes, you're saving from day one, right, on your utility usage.
- 2:25So you've got a nice, clean, high-efficient new air conditioning system in there,
- 2:30and you're saving money from day one as utility bills, which none of us are
- 2:35excited about paying more than that, right?
- 2:37So anytime we can save there, all the better.
- 2:40And you've got the optimum comfort and air quality, and it just gets you set and ready to go.
- 2:45So that's, yes, March is a phenomenal month to get that AC replaced.
- 2:50One, you're not waiting. Two, you start saving from the very get go,
- 2:53and you have that total peace of mind with no surprises throughout the summer.
- 2:57Peace of mind is so important. I'm finding as I move through the decades of
- 3:02my life, Nathan, that the most important thing is ease, peace of mind,
- 3:09not worrying about things.
- 3:12Because worry can really wreak havoc with your life, stress and so forth.
- 3:18And so I want to make sure that my cars and trucks, even my lawnmower are maintained
- 3:24so they don't break down when I'm on the freeway or mowing my lawn.
- 3:28I want to make sure my pool equipment is running well. So I make sure that's
- 3:31maintained. and certainly my HVAC system.
- 3:34Certainly, right? I want to make sure that when it's hot in the summertime,
- 3:40it is going to work the best it can. That means you need to maintain it.
- 3:46And once you get to a point where maintenance isn't going to help it and you
- 3:51have to replace it, that's where you get the real peace of mind.
- 3:53I'll tell you, a couple of times I really had great peace of mind is when I got my new HVAC system.
- 3:58I got two units, one for upstairs and one for downstairs. And when I got my
- 4:02new roof, both very expensive, to be honest with you. Okay.
- 4:05But great investments in your home and in your family and, you know, really your welfare.
- 4:12And so I totally agree. Get it done in March.
- 4:18It's like swimming pool season. People wait until June, May or June.
- 4:23They're like, let's put the pool in.
- 4:24No, no, you should have thought about that in September and then sat down with
- 4:29pool companies and had that pool built in late winter if you can or early spring,
- 4:36whenever you can break ground.
- 4:38And then, so by June 1st, oh, you can get in the pool.
- 4:42And now it's a lot easier to put in a new HVAC system, everybody.
- 4:45So don't worry about that. Way easier. You guys can actually get that done in,
- 4:51what, a couple days maybe?
- 4:53A complete one? What long does it take? Yeah, most commonly,
- 4:56we're in and out and completely done and have the job done correctly in one day.
- 5:01Now, if there's other things that need to be done and maybe new ductwork systems
- 5:04or something like that or multiple systems, yes, may go into a few days.
- 5:08Uh, but most commonly, uh, for upgrading current equipment and doing some minor
- 5:12duck, duck alterations and indoor air quality process, et cetera.
- 5:16Um, they're typically done within that, that one day, one to two days. Yeah.
- 5:20Um, you know, you say that it makes me think about too, like I can't count how
- 5:24many times over all the years I've heard someone say, man, I regret not doing
- 5:28this back in, you know, in this case, back in March.
- 5:31Right. And it's the heat of the summer, if it's dead of the winter back in,
- 5:34you know, September. Uh, but I've never heard anybody that's put in the new
- 5:39system, get to the middle of that season and that season, like,
- 5:41boy, I wish I'd have waited till now to do it.
- 5:43Like they're so glad and thankful that they did. And so, yeah,
- 5:47I mean, don't, don't live with the regret, right?
- 5:48Plan ahead, be prepared and, uh, get it taken care of now. Why,
- 5:52why it's, why it's much simpler.
- 5:54And some advice for my listeners and viewers, do what my wife and I did. Get it all done.
- 6:01So so it i think i think
- 6:04the system we replaced was the original in the home and we
- 6:07did it before we moved in actually and it was may
- 6:11have been as old as 18 years old still working but i didn't want to move into
- 6:16a new house and then have to replace after so so we had a three ton and a five
- 6:22ton put in or taken out and put in all the duct work all the registers the thermostats we just Like,
- 6:29while we're at it, guys, let's just get it all done What do you think about that?
- 6:33Yeah, 100%. I mean, there's a lot of times people will try to save a little bit up front, right?
- 6:37And maybe do just the AC now, do the furnace later, or vice versa,
- 6:41right? Or a lot of companies, unfortunately.
- 6:44I mean, this is where you want to really do your homework, you know,
- 6:47and make sure that you're choosing the best company, whether that's,
- 6:50you know, I hope that's us, but that could be anybody, right? Right.
- 6:52Whoever you choose, make sure that they're properly sizing it,
- 6:55designing it and putting in because the brand of the equipment really,
- 6:58at the end of the day, makes no difference. They're all going to work.
- 7:01What makes a difference is the brand that's putting it in. Who are you hiring to put in that system?
- 7:06Because day one of that equipment is the most important day of life of that equipment.
- 7:11It's going to determine how long that system lasts for you, how well it works,
- 7:15how many breakdowns you do or don't have. right? Your utility bills,
- 7:19all these different things.
- 7:20And so when we start mixing and matching equipment or trying to cut corners,
- 7:24you know, a lot of times maybe not do the line sets or not do the disconnect
- 7:27or not do this branch, you know, this duck modification or whatever,
- 7:31that's when you start, yes, you might save a little bit of money now,
- 7:34but you're going to more than 10x pay for that over the years to come and still
- 7:39have the headache and the stress and then be back in that regretting position
- 7:41again, thinking, man, I wish I just would have done it all back then.
- 7:45And so, So, yes, 100% when it makes sense, you know, definitely just replace
- 7:49everything or consult, you know, with us.
- 7:52We'll be able to go through that with you. And sometimes only certain pieces
- 7:55do make sense to replace, you know.
- 7:57But oftentimes it makes sense to, hey, let's get a match system in this.
- 8:00You have a full warranty.
- 8:01Everything's covered. Back to that peace of mind that you talked about.
- 8:04You know, you don't have to worry about waking up tomorrow with any surprises.
- 8:08Yeah. And make sure you get the warranty filled out properly,
- 8:12meaning get the 10 years. So a lot of people don't know, let's touch upon this quickly.
- 8:18Manufacturer warranties are generally 10 years. You may have some longer ones
- 8:22than what you do, Nathan, but a mistake people make is they don't fill out the
- 8:25paperwork and they find they don't have 10 years. Can you talk a little bit about that? Yeah.
- 8:29Yeah. And that's one thing. So most companies don't do this,
- 8:32but it's one thing that we do is we take care of all that for our clients because,
- 8:37and it's amazing how many systems we go and work on.
- 8:39And someone's like, well, I have, it's only eight years old. It's under warranty.
- 8:42We go to pull that serial number with that manufacturer and it was never registered.
- 8:45It wasn't filed correctly because the installing company put it back on the
- 8:51homeowner to go register that equipment.
- 8:52Well, they didn't know, was it communicated well? You get busy, you forget, whatever.
- 8:56And then now they're in a bad spot thinking they had warranty and they don't
- 8:59have warranty. There's no way to retroact that and fix that, right?
- 9:02And now it's just out of pocket. And so once again, it's just one of the many
- 9:05ways that we take full responsibility and take all the risk is we register everything that we sell.
- 9:09That way, if something gets missed, there's no questions asked.
- 9:12We missed it. Now we have to eat it. And we've had to do that before.
- 9:15To say in 40 years of business that we've never missed registering one, you know, we have.
- 9:20It's happened. But you know what? To the client, they're still covered because
- 9:23we sold it with that 10-year warranty or that 12-year warranty.
- 9:25And so now we just, we warranty that in-house through us. And so it just takes
- 9:29all the risk and puts it back on.
- 9:30So it's very, very important yet that you get those, those warranties completed, uh, accurately.
- 9:35And on time, there's also a timeline to getting those done. And so,
- 9:38uh, and or, like I said, just use us and we'll do it for you. Yeah.
- 9:43One reason why I'm the right guy to do this radio show is because I've learned
- 9:48all the hard things and I learned that lesson. Okay.
- 9:51I learned that one myself. So to all my listeners, all my followers, don't do what Jim did.
- 9:58Get it filled out. Have Schaefer do it. Hey, Nathan, thank you so much for joining
- 10:01me again today here on the program. I really appreciate it. Hey,
- 10:05my pleasure, Jim. Thank you.
