- 0:02Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
- 0:06rooted in scripture and relevant for.
- 0:07Today, May 12th, lessons that last.
- 0:12Be honest. When someone corrects you,
- 0:14what's your first instinct? Do you get defensive?
- 0:17Do you shut down? Do you brush it off and pretend
- 0:20it didn't happen? Most of us don't love being told
- 0:24we got something wrong. It stings a little, even when
- 0:27the person saying it actually cares about us.
- 0:30But here's what's wild The lessons we try hardest to avoid
- 0:34are often the ones that shape us the most.
- 0:37Proverbs chapter 15, verses 32 to 33 puts it plainly.
- 0:42Whoever ignores instruction despises himself.
- 0:45But he who listens to reproof gains intelligence.
- 0:49The fear of the Lord teaches a man wisdom and humility comes
- 0:53before honor. That word despises is strong,
- 0:56isn't it? But think about it.
- 0:59When you refuse to learn, when you dismiss correction and keep
- 1:02repeating the same patterns, you're actually working against
- 1:05yourself. You're blocking your own growth.
- 1:08On the flip side, the person who can receive guidance even when
- 1:12it's uncomfortable is quietly building something real.
- 1:15Wisdom, character, the kind of inner strength that doesn't
- 1:19crumble under pressure. And notice that humility comes
- 1:22before honor, not alongside it, before it.
- 1:26That's the sequence God establishes.
- 1:29You don't get to skip the learning curve and go straight
- 1:31to the reward. The humble, teachable, sometimes
- 1:35hard season is what prepares you for what comes next.
- 1:38Now, First Corinthians chapter 15 takes everything up to a much
- 1:42bigger scale. Verse 22 reminds us that through
- 1:45Christ's resurrection, death has been defeated and we are given
- 1:49new life in Him. And verse 58 says so.
- 1:53Then, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always
- 1:57abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord
- 2:00your labor is not in vain, not in vain.
- 2:04Let that sit with you for a moment.
- 2:06There are probably things in your life right now that feel
- 2:09pointless. The effort you're putting in
- 2:11that nobody seems to notice. The choice you made to do the
- 2:15right thing that didn't get you any credit.
- 2:18The time you spent being kind to someone who didn't even say
- 2:21thank you. It can feel like you're pouring
- 2:24into something that has no bottom.
- 2:26But God says no. It counts.
- 2:28Every bit of it counts because the resurrection of Jesus
- 2:31changes the entire equation. If death itself doesn't have the
- 2:36final word, then neither does failure, discouragement, or
- 2:39feeling unseen. Every small act of faithfulness.
- 2:44Every moment you chose to listen and learn instead of harden and
- 2:47resist. Every time you got back up after
- 2:50a set back. It's all part of something God
- 2:53is building in you that has eternal weight.
- 2:56That means today's correction isn't punishment, it's
- 2:59preparation. That difficult teacher, that
- 3:02hard conversation with a parent, That failure you're embarrassed
- 3:06about. God is using all of it not to
- 3:09break you down, but to build you up into someone who can handle
- 3:12what He has ahead. So the next time life hands you
- 3:15a lesson you didn't sign up for, try to resist the urge to just
- 3:18escape it. Ask instead, What is God trying
- 3:22to teach me here? What is He developing in me
- 3:24through this? Because He wastes nothing.
- 3:28And your willingness to stay humble and keep learning is one
- 3:31of the most powerful things you can do.
- 3:33Let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank You for
- 3:37the lessons You bring into my life, even the ones that are
- 3:40uncomfortable or hard to receive.
- 3:43Help me to stay humble, to listen well, and to trust that
- 3:46You are shaping me with purpose. On the days when my efforts feel
- 3:50invisible or pointless, remind me that my labor for You is
- 3:54never in vain. Because of Jesus resurrection, I
- 3:58have hoped that nothing I do in faith is wasted.
- 4:01Give me the strength to stay steadfast, keep going and grow
- 4:04in wisdom every single day in Jesus name, Amen.

- 5:12Now I invite you to spend time with God in today's three-year
- 5:14Bible reading plan. Proverbs chapter 15, verses 32
- 5:20to 33 World English Bible. He who refuses correction
- 5:25despises his own soul, but he who listens to reproof gets
- 5:28understanding. The fear of Yahweh teaches
- 5:31wisdom before honor is humility. First Corinthians Chapter 15
- 5:36World English Bible Now I declare to you, brothers, the
- 5:41good news which I preach to you, which also you received, in
- 5:44which you also stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold
- 5:49firmly the Word which I preach to you, unless you believed in
- 5:52vain. For I delivered to you first of
- 5:55all that which I also received, that Christ died for our sins
- 5:59according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was
- 6:03raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and
- 6:06that he appeared to Sepha's, then to the 12.
- 6:10Then he appeared to over 500 brothers at once, most of whom
- 6:14remain until now, but some have also fallen asleep.
- 6:18Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of
- 6:22all, as to the child born at the wrong time, He appeared to me
- 6:25also. For I am the least of the
- 6:28apostles who is not worthy to be called an apostle, because I
- 6:32persecuted the Assembly of God. But by the grace of God I am
- 6:36what I am. His grace which was given to me
- 6:39was not futile, but I worked more than all of them.
- 6:42Yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
- 6:46Whether then it is I or they. So we preach, and so you
- 6:49believed. Now if Christ is preached that
- 6:52He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say
- 6:56that there is no resurrection of the dead?
- 6:59But if there is no resurrection of the dead, neither has Christ
- 7:02been raised. If Christ has not been raised,
- 7:05then our preaching is in vain, and your faith also is in vain.
- 7:09Yes, we are also found false witnesses of God, because we
- 7:13testified about God that He raised up Christ, whom He didn't
- 7:17raise up. If it is so that the dead are
- 7:19not raised. For if the dead aren't raised,
- 7:22neither has Christ been raised. If Christ has not been raised,
- 7:26your faith is vain, you are still in your sins.
- 7:29Then they also who are fallen asleep in Christ have perished.
- 7:33If we have only hoped in Christ in this life we are of all men
- 7:36most pitiable. But now Christ has been raised
- 7:39from the dead. He became the first fruits of
- 7:42those who are asleep. For since death came by man, the
- 7:46resurrection of the dead also came by man.
- 7:49For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made
- 7:52alive, but each in his own order.
- 7:55Christ the first fruits, then those who are Christ S at His
- 7:58coming. Then the end comes, when He will
- 8:02deliver up the Kingdom to God, even the Father, when He will
- 8:05have abolished all rule and all authority and power.
- 8:09For He must reign until he has put all his enemies under his
- 8:12feet. The last enemy that will be
- 8:14abolished is death, For He put all things in subjection under
- 8:19his feet. But when he says all things are
- 8:21put in subjection, it is evident that He is accepted.
- 8:25Who subjected all things to him? When all things have been
- 8:29subjected to him, then the Son will also himself be subjected
- 8:32to him. Who subjected all things to him,
- 8:35that God may be All in all. Or else what will they do?
- 8:39Who are baptized for the dead? If the dead aren't raised at
- 8:42all, why then are they baptized for the dead?
- 8:45Why do we also stand in jeopardy every hour?
- 8:49I affirm by the boasting in you, which I have in Christ Jesus our
- 8:52Lord, I die daily. If I fought with animals at
- 8:55Ephesus for human purposes, what does it profit me?
- 8:59If the dead are not raised, then let's eat and drink, for
- 9:02tomorrow we die. Don't be deceived.
- 9:06Evil companionships corrupt good morals.
- 9:08Wake up righteously and don't sin, for some have no knowledge
- 9:12of God. I say this to your shame, but
- 9:15someone will say, How are the dead raised, and with what kind
- 9:19of body do they come, you foolish one?
- 9:21That which you yourself sow is not made alive unless it dies.
- 9:25That which you sow you don't sow the body that will be but a bare
- 9:28grain, maybe of wheat, or of some other kind.
- 9:32But God gives it a body even as it pleased Him, and to each seed
- 9:35a body of its own. All flesh is not the same flesh,
- 9:39but there is one flesh of men, another flesh of animals,
- 9:43another of fish, and another of birds.
- 9:46There are also celestial bodies and terrestrial bodies, but the
- 9:50glory of the celestial differs from that of the terrestrial.
- 9:54There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and
- 9:57another glory of the stars. For one star differs from
- 10:01another star in glory. So also is the resurrection of
- 10:04the dead. The body is sown perishable.
- 10:08It is raised in perishable, it is sown in dishonor.
- 10:11It is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is
- 10:15raised in power, it is sown a natural body, it is raised a
- 10:20spiritual body. There is a natural body and
- 10:22there is also a spiritual body. So also it is written.
- 10:27The first man, Adam became a living soul.
- 10:30The last Adam became a life giving spirit.
- 10:33However, that which is spiritual isn't first, but that which is
- 10:36natural. Then that which is spiritual.
- 10:39The first man is of the earth made of dust.
- 10:42The second man is the Lord from heaven, as is the one made of
- 10:46dust. Such are those who are also made
- 10:48of dust, and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are
- 10:52heavenly. As we have borne the image of
- 10:55those made of dust, let's also bear the image of the heavenly.
- 11:00Now I say this, brothers, that flesh and blood can't inherit
- 11:03God's Kingdom, neither does the perishable inherit imperishable.
- 11:08Behold, I tell you a mystery. We will not all sleep, but we
- 11:12will all be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at
- 11:15the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and
- 11:19the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be
- 11:22changed. For this perishable body must
- 11:25become imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality.
- 11:29But when this perishable body will have become imperishable,
- 11:32and this mortal will have put on immortality, then what is
- 11:35written will happen. Death is swallowed up in
- 11:38victory. Death, where is your sting?
- 11:42Hades, where is your victory? The sting of death is sin, and
- 11:46the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives
- 11:50us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
- 11:53Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always
- 11:58abounding in the Lord's work, because you know that your labor
- 12:01is not in vain in the. Lord, thanks for joining us on
