- 0:01Hey. Everybody, welcome to the Good
- 0:03Morning from the Chicken Coop podcast.
- 0:05My name is Kim Johnson and I am a mastermindset, coach, creative
- 0:08strategist, and also happened to be a farmer.
- 0:11This is my Chicken coop and I come out here.
- 0:13Every day to record a podcast to.
- 0:15Teach distinctions, possibilities, new ways of.
- 0:18Thinking. And just bring some joy.
- 0:20Into the. World.
- 0:21So welcome to the coop and let's start your day off in a
- 0:24fantastic way. Hey, everybody, good morning.
- 0:29So yesterday we had a very special day.
- 0:31We got to go to Magnolia Plantation, which is one of the
- 0:35oldest plantations in in the United States.
- 0:39It's considered a romantic one because it's all gardens
- 0:42planted. So it was right up my alley.
- 0:44And there are a huge amount of camellias blooming right now.
- 0:49So they're they're, they're ready to burst.
- 0:52And then there's a whole bunch of early ones that have bursted
- 0:55and they are just gorgeous and beautiful.
- 0:57And it's, it's quite the stunning place, but we got to go
- 1:01there and spend hours walking the plantation.
- 1:05And I haven't done that in a very long time.
- 1:07We used to be members there and just with the farm and
- 1:12everything else, it changed once we moved out to the farm.
- 1:15But going back there, spending time walking through, having the
- 1:21experience of being there, it just reminded me about those
- 1:26small things that make you unplug from the moment you walk
- 1:30into this place, you feel like you've been transformed into
- 1:34this glorious old world garden. And it gave me such inspiration
- 1:40for the things that I want to do out here.
- 1:42Like I was standing there looking at one of their
- 1:44vegetable gardens and I was like, I want to do this and I
- 1:48want to do that. And I think I want to change
- 1:49this and I want to do this. And it just gave me that oomph
- 1:53of remembering how important inspiration is to us.
- 1:57Like there is nothing more important than having
- 2:00inspiration because once you have that, you can allow
- 2:04yourself to be more creative, to do more important things than
- 2:09you ever imagined because you've got that inspiration.
- 2:12Like if you don't know, you don't know.
- 2:14So you have to go explore. You have to be an explorer.
- 2:18So this, this kind of lit a fire under me to be more attentive,
- 2:24if you will, to looking at what's around me, where I am and
- 2:29saying, OK, not that I'm not that I don't do that because I'm
- 2:32always taking pictures of everything in my world, but I'm
- 2:35talking about outside my world. Go look at other places.
- 2:39See, so I'm on a mission while I'm on my break over the next
- 2:43week, because I don't actually start backup coaching until
- 2:47January 5th. I am going to be going to all
- 2:51different places that I can to look and say what the
- 2:54inspiration, what am I looking for here, what do I want to do
- 2:57and really hunkering down and making my plans.
- 3:00Now, I typically will take two full days and do planning for
- 3:05the whole year before the end of the year in between Christmas
- 3:09and New Year's. That's always my jam.
- 3:11And I might change that up because I'm sitting there
- 3:15thinking I might just take this whole time until I go right back
- 3:19on the 5th to say, OK, what, what is my inspiration?
- 3:23What am I looking for? Not just sitting and doing it on
- 3:25paper, but being out on my feet, taking pictures, going places,
- 3:29looking at things, trying to make decisions about stuff.
- 3:33Now here's what tends to happen with me when I do this.
- 3:36The plan gets so enormous and so big that it becomes
- 3:39overwhelming. And then I have to like, temper
- 3:42myself and say, OK, well, this is what I'm going to do now.
- 3:45But often I've noticed that what I do is I then forget the other
- 3:49things that I want to do. So this time, I'm not going to
- 3:52do that. I'm actually going to be
- 3:54changing up how I do things completely.
- 3:57And I'm going to be looking at seasons and planning seasonally.
- 4:01And I feel like that is such a big thing to look at because
- 4:05once you do, once you change things, you pay attention to it.
- 4:08It's not so rote in your head. It doesn't become so conformed
- 4:12warmest in your head. So take that into consideration.
- 4:16Think about how you want to approach this.
- 4:19Think about how you want to inspire yourself before you do
- 4:22anything. Do you need to just take a few
- 4:24days and go start looking at stuff outside of your world to
- 4:29be inspired? Like if you want to create art,
- 4:31let's say you wanted to learn how to knit or you wanted to
- 4:34make stuff and you wanted to learn how to do that, then maybe
- 4:38hit a bunch of different knitting stores.
- 4:40Go and check that out. If you want to paint, take a
- 4:42couple of different painting classes.
- 4:44It doesn't matter if they're online or locally, wherever you
- 4:48are, but try it. See, just experiment, look at
- 4:51stuff that might be different because that's where we get our
- 4:55inspiration from. That's where we start thinking
- 4:57about things differently. So in in the big picture, you
- 5:02can create and come up with something completely new once
- 5:04you're inspired, it's not about going out and trying to find
- 5:07what someone else did and replicate it.
- 5:08It's about figuring out how you can take what someone else did
- 5:12and make it better or bigger or completely different.
- 5:16That's the cool part about inspiration.
- 5:19How can you make it completely different?
- 5:21So I hope this is helpful. I'm going to go start making my
- 5:25plans and I hope you guys have a very blessed day and I will see
- 5:29you tomorrow. Bye.
