- 2:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:12Speaker 3: She needs a little love and attention. She she loves
- 2:15Speaker 3: somebody talking to her. Jeff Jowder, you're a member of
- 2:19Speaker 3: the U Project podcast Facebook group.
- 2:23Speaker 4: Mate, I'm literally going to jump on that straight after
- 2:26Speaker 4: this podcast. If you beat me to it. I knew
- 2:28Speaker 4: you were going to throw me straight under the bus.
- 2:30Speaker 4: But I'll be rest assured. As soon as we wrap
- 2:34Speaker 4: up this bit of compelling podcast information for one of
- 2:40Speaker 4: a better term, I'll be straight on that Facebook group.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Now.
- 2:43Speaker 3: You know what, you don't need to and I tell
- 2:45Speaker 3: you why because I know you don't do social media,
- 2:48Speaker 3: and it's like me just tempting you with a fucking
- 2:52Speaker 3: beer or something.
- 2:53Speaker 1: We don't need that, so you stay off and.
- 2:56Speaker 4: We'll look out of pure respect and what not. I
- 3:00Speaker 4: would have signed up to it, never looked at it,
- 3:02Speaker 4: because I don't look at any social media, but I
- 3:04Speaker 4: would have done what I said.
- 3:05Speaker 3: There you go, Yeah, you don't need to, but I
- 3:07Speaker 3: will tell you you don't need to look. I will
- 3:09Speaker 3: tell you that we get constantly good feedback about you
- 3:13Speaker 3: and towards you, and.
- 3:15Speaker 4: Mate, you've got a great audience. Like leadership driven fish
- 3:18Speaker 4: rots from the head or grows from the head, and
- 3:20Speaker 4: that's you, champion, and you get what you are. That's mate.
- 3:24Speaker 4: You're a wealth of knowledge and high integrity, all of
- 3:27Speaker 4: the good stuff. And that's why you've got such pedigree
- 3:30Speaker 4: listeners and members. There's no coincidence or fluke at all,
- 3:33Speaker 4: and I enjoy being a part of it whenever I
- 3:36Speaker 4: get around it.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Well, we appreciate you, mate. I want to talk to
- 3:39Speaker 3: you today about this very broad topic and we'll just
- 3:42Speaker 3: go where we go. But I want to talk about
- 3:46Speaker 3: a couple of things, so self awareness, self regulation, self management,
- 3:54Speaker 3: me managing me, me, managing my mind, my body, my emotion,
- 3:58Speaker 3: my relationships. This is big, by the way, my career,
- 4:00Speaker 3: my dough my intentions, my goals. I feel like the
- 4:05Speaker 3: ever present challenge for humans is how do I manage me?
- 4:09Speaker 3: How do I get the most out of me? How
- 4:12Speaker 3: do I get the most out of my genetics and
- 4:14Speaker 3: my skill and my potential and my resources. How do
- 4:18Speaker 3: I optimize me? And what does that mean for me? So,
- 4:23Speaker 3: how do you when it comes to you managing you?
- 4:27Speaker 3: Because you've changed your operating system, You've changed your paradigm completely.
- 4:33Speaker 1: You had a red hot crack at.
- 4:35Speaker 3: The becoming a billionaire, which you got pretty close to
- 4:38Speaker 3: and working like a crazy person and doing all the
- 4:41Speaker 3: drugs and all the booze and all the craziness and
- 4:44Speaker 3: you've turned yourself around. What does self regulation and management
- 4:48Speaker 3: look like for you?
- 4:49Speaker 1: Now?
- 4:50Speaker 4: Excellent question, albeit very long. Sorry lovey, I've got the
- 4:56Speaker 4: memory of an elephant. All right, here we go. So
- 5:01Speaker 4: it's a great question. And as you know, because I
- 5:04Speaker 4: was going to jump on last week, I took last
- 5:05Speaker 4: week off right self management. I am a dead set,
- 5:09Speaker 4: open book, mate. If you'll see CTV out, what you
- 5:12Speaker 4: see is what you get. Like last week, I was flat.
- 5:15Speaker 4: I took a week off. You got it like for me?
- 5:17Speaker 4: It's about but it's self optimization. I don't. I will
- 5:21Speaker 4: never again rock up half half done. Flat, No, it
- 5:25Speaker 4: doesn't happen. Right, So last week, bit of a it's
- 5:29Speaker 4: not a bogy thing I made. I had to get
- 5:32Speaker 4: the ears drained, ladies and gentlemen. It turns out I
- 5:34Speaker 4: got narrow ear canals from surfing. That's a thing if
- 5:37Speaker 4: you've ever surfed a lot. But I'd put off going
- 5:41Speaker 4: to the doctor for a while, harps, because I moved
- 5:43Speaker 4: out here in the rural areas. So asie, Jeff, this
- 5:47Speaker 4: is a dead set, you know, for a smart blake
- 5:49Speaker 4: does dumb things at times, or a bit of a
- 5:52Speaker 4: back end, a compliment and a self there, but let's
- 5:54Speaker 4: move on. But what I did, I did a bit
- 5:58Speaker 4: of a diy job on unblocking the years and lo
- 6:02Speaker 4: and be old made it fucking worse. Don't stick cotton
- 6:06Speaker 4: buds in your ears. It's like this gym and it
- 6:08Speaker 4: in there. We all know it. But I thought I
- 6:11Speaker 4: was I thought I was better. I thought I could
- 6:13Speaker 4: a guy for it, and I thought I could just
- 6:15Speaker 4: get the angles right and hot water and this at
- 6:17Speaker 4: motherfucking board. Next minute I'm underwater and the head's about
- 6:20Speaker 4: to explode. And so I'd put off going to the
- 6:23Speaker 4: doctor because I'd moved. I didn't have a new die
- 6:25Speaker 4: that of bloody, I'm going to fill out the form
- 6:26Speaker 4: Spanish inquisition, et cetera. Are we go? Love turns out
- 6:30Speaker 4: lovely drained it boom, Happy days, rock and roll. So
- 6:33Speaker 4: that was a big part of why I was a
- 6:35Speaker 4: bit flat. And one of my dogs, Lucy bless her,
- 6:38Speaker 4: the Scottish terrier full Moon. I think she thought it
- 6:41Speaker 4: was daylight or there were lots of rabbits around that
- 6:43Speaker 4: she could see at night, so she thought she'd go
- 6:45Speaker 4: up to eight Fagan's Road and let them know what
- 6:49Speaker 4: was going on at midnight. And so had a bit
- 6:53Speaker 4: of all that going on to I'm having a week.
- 6:55Speaker 4: I was going to recharge. I was getting that way anyway,
- 6:57Speaker 4: and you just call it right. So me back in
- 7:00Speaker 4: those days of vision, pt, body trim whatever, I literally thought,
- 7:04Speaker 4: this is so it's madness. It's just madness. I thought
- 7:07Speaker 4: I could never take a week off, like you've got
- 7:10Speaker 4: to work a whole because you've got no life. I
- 7:12Speaker 4: say business as a vehicle to build your life. It's
- 7:14Speaker 4: not your life, but so many times it becomes your life,
- 7:17Speaker 4: and it too. You are identity theft, I call it
- 7:19Speaker 4: because it steals your identity and and but I just
- 7:23Speaker 4: call it. And every every single plan of mine and
- 7:28Speaker 4: speaking jobs that I had, I moved and whatnot. Everyone's
- 7:32Speaker 4: got massive respect legend mate, like they take lessons and
- 7:36Speaker 4: learnings out of that. If I'm not rocking up my best,
- 7:38Speaker 4: I'm not rocking up. It's real fucking simple life. Well,
- 7:41Speaker 4: I was thinking about this this morning making a coffee. Harps.
- 7:44Speaker 4: Think about your thread astare to your lovely head of
- 7:47Speaker 4: hair that you've got at nearly sixty. And I was
- 7:49Speaker 4: thinking about this as well. I was thinking that life
- 7:52Speaker 4: can be absolutely beautiful magic if we do not if
- 7:58Speaker 4: we do not break a few a few rules. If
- 8:03Speaker 4: you say you're going to do something, even if it's
- 8:05Speaker 4: in passing, you fucking do it. Doesn't have to be
- 8:07Speaker 4: a contract, doesn't need to be written in blood, but
- 8:10Speaker 4: you do it. You don't break some absolute rules, and
- 8:14Speaker 4: life gets better and better and better and better. You
- 8:16Speaker 4: never compromise your integrity. You're playing to an audience of
- 8:19Speaker 4: one yourself. If you say you're going to do it,
- 8:21Speaker 4: you do it. If you're not at your best, you
- 8:23Speaker 4: don't do it. You put your hand up and your
- 8:24Speaker 4: life gets better and better. But you start to compromise
- 8:27Speaker 4: that kind of what you said sort of but not
- 8:30Speaker 4: really or what not, life gets really hard, really fast.
- 8:35Speaker 4: And your business might still be growing, and then it
- 8:37Speaker 4: gets even harder because it's not built right. And one
- 8:41Speaker 4: of the keys on that for me is so the
- 8:43Speaker 4: self managing monitoring thing is all about awareness and how
- 8:47Speaker 4: you're tracking and where you're at and for me, what
- 8:50Speaker 4: are we in may I've been at it for a bit.
- 8:53Speaker 4: It's a time for a week off anyway, recharge and
- 8:56Speaker 4: now brand new, and that's great, but like you've got
- 8:59Speaker 4: to do that because you if you rock up underdone
- 9:02Speaker 4: like you're not doing anyone any favors. And I'm sort
- 9:05Speaker 4: of not really defined by anything. But if I was
- 9:07Speaker 4: to be defined by something, it'd be being at my best.
- 9:10Speaker 4: When I commit to doing something that's critical, right, the
- 9:14Speaker 4: rest takes care of itself. Like the better I am today,
- 9:17Speaker 4: the better my life tomorrow. Not the shitter today the
- 9:21Speaker 4: better tomorrow. It's contradiction in terms, right, So we've got
- 9:25Speaker 4: to be better where we are. It's like building a
- 9:27Speaker 4: house into a village each brick. If you do it
- 9:29Speaker 4: really well, which I assume you should or would, then
- 9:33Speaker 4: the wall will be good, the house will be good,
- 9:34Speaker 4: the village you'll be meant. But if you're good frustrated
- 9:37Speaker 4: that you've got to build houses to get the village done,
- 9:39Speaker 4: the old thing is going to fucking fall down on you,
- 9:41Speaker 4: like brick by brick, without a doubt, as silly as
- 9:44Speaker 4: it sounds, but we forget that in the relentless pursuit
- 9:46Speaker 4: of more destination addiction.
- 9:49Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, do you know what I love about you?
- 9:52Speaker 3: I love a lot about you. But you know, before
- 9:55Speaker 3: we went live, I'm like, ah, ok, because you were
- 10:01Speaker 3: so fucking laid back.
- 10:03Speaker 1: You're so laid back, you're.
- 10:05Speaker 3: So comfortable in your own skin, and then then we
- 10:09Speaker 3: start and then it's like and now I'm here, I'm
- 10:12Speaker 3: on a podcast. It's like a switch flix and there's
- 10:15Speaker 3: nothing disingenuous.
- 10:17Speaker 1: It's all real. But it's you being what you need
- 10:20Speaker 1: to be for a half hour or so.
- 10:23Speaker 3: So that you can teach and coach and expire inspire
- 10:26Speaker 3: thousands of people. And then you finish and then you're like,
- 10:29Speaker 3: and now I'm done. You know, Like, I love the
- 10:32Speaker 3: ability that you have to manage your energy that way,
- 10:37Speaker 3: And that's.
- 10:37Speaker 4: What it is. That's what it is, Harps, You've just
- 10:39Speaker 4: nowed it. Like you know, we spoke last week, I
- 10:43Speaker 4: think it was, and you know, he said person not
- 10:45Speaker 4: persona like like if I not that I you're one
- 10:50Speaker 4: of probably the person of everyone, Like not that I
- 10:53Speaker 4: am with anyone anymore, but I'm not. I've got zero
- 10:57Speaker 4: need to be hyper motivated up for just to chat,
- 11:01Speaker 4: Like there's no need. We're just chatting about a few
- 11:03Speaker 4: bits and pieces. But when you're on a podcast and
- 11:06Speaker 4: you have a platform to invoke change in others, that's
- 11:10Speaker 4: totally different. So I can serve my energy to deliver
- 11:13Speaker 4: optimally to that platform at that time.
- 11:16Speaker 3: Yeah, how much when you are you know, you've made
- 11:22Speaker 3: some big changes in your life, so have I? Like
- 11:24Speaker 3: I got to the point, which obviously wasn't a quick journey,
- 11:28Speaker 3: but over years where I went from this is what
- 11:32Speaker 3: I'm built for, training people, creating this energy up here,
- 11:35Speaker 3: building this culture, leading this team of trainers and fitness professionals,
- 11:39Speaker 3: and building this empire too. I don't want to do
- 11:42Speaker 3: this anymore at all. I don't want to count reps.
- 11:45Speaker 3: I don't want to hand one more person of fucking
- 11:47Speaker 3: dumbbell and I'm done.
- 11:49Speaker 1: I'm good.
- 11:49Speaker 3: It's not bad, It's just not what I want to
- 11:51Speaker 3: do right, And I've made significant changes, as have you.
- 11:57Speaker 1: For you, how much of how much of.
- 12:00Speaker 3: Deciding what you're going to do and where you're going
- 12:02Speaker 3: to go next is strategic and how much is just intuitive?
- 12:08Speaker 1: Is like just based on what you're feeling?
- 12:12Speaker 4: Mate? Great question, A few layers to it, ultimately, and
- 12:19Speaker 4: it's something I've been playing around with lately. And I
- 12:23Speaker 4: was chopping down a few trees the other day, not
- 12:26Speaker 4: gum trees. They're actually big weeds that grew into trees.
- 12:29Speaker 4: But Ozzie, Jeff, just beside, I'll share this story because
- 12:33Speaker 4: it's quite relevant. I took the week.
- 12:35Speaker 3: Off and the only guest we ever have that talks
- 12:39Speaker 3: about himself in the third person.
- 12:41Speaker 1: And I just want to tell you that Craig loves it.
- 12:44Speaker 4: Ah, bless Ye're the best. Thank you, Thanks Craig, You're
- 12:48Speaker 4: a champion, one of the greats. So Ozzie Jeff down
- 12:51Speaker 4: at the damn last week and Alan, who owns the
- 12:54Speaker 4: property with his lovely wife, he happened to say, you
- 12:57Speaker 4: were down there together the other day and he was
- 12:59Speaker 4: just showing me these massive weeds that they look like
- 13:02Speaker 4: a tree, but they're a weed, right an old mate
- 13:04Speaker 4: next door. Bless him. When the bloody wind blows all
- 13:07Speaker 4: the shitty beads or whatever they are, the pedals or
- 13:10Speaker 4: they blow into his joint, they start cropping up and
- 13:12Speaker 4: they're a pest. And Alan said, make no pressure. But
- 13:15Speaker 4: if you want to look, I know you love all
- 13:18Speaker 4: that stuff made. I'll get rid of them. I'm having
- 13:19Speaker 4: the week off. Boom down. I went anyway, So hi
- 13:22Speaker 4: Achriever syndrome one O one went down to cut out
- 13:24Speaker 4: three inverted commas trees, weeds whatever they are, with my
- 13:28Speaker 4: trusty axe and Lucy by my side. And next minute
- 13:31Speaker 4: of dead set cut down after Bilanglo State Forest. I've
- 13:36Speaker 4: got to send you a photo, fucker now made. It's
- 13:38Speaker 4: like high achieve syndrome one O one and on. But
- 13:40Speaker 4: here's the thing, right, Yeah it was, and I was, yeah,
- 13:50Speaker 4: oh you're a funny fuck.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Don't go on.
- 13:55Speaker 4: Because it was quite overgrowing over the back there. And
- 13:58Speaker 4: I've got the whipper snipp of their heads, trim the acts,
- 14:01Speaker 4: everything Lucy's got running around, Chase and rabbits. It's just
- 14:04Speaker 4: the best. But it's like the deepest I call it
- 14:08Speaker 4: a working meditation because my head is void of any
- 14:12Speaker 4: thoughts other than the project I'm immersed in. And that,
- 14:15Speaker 4: to me, is what I call purpose driven. Now. Now,
- 14:19Speaker 4: the funny thing about that, is, right, is that I'm
- 14:22Speaker 4: not a bloody tree lopper. I'm not getting paid to
- 14:25Speaker 4: do it. I'm doing you know, I enjoy that stuff.
- 14:28Speaker 4: Lucy gets to run around. It gives me a glimpse
- 14:30Speaker 4: of what life was probably like hundreds of years ago,
- 14:32Speaker 4: with your working dog by your side and bloody bliss.
- 14:35Speaker 4: It's joy, it's gratitude, it's everything. But my brain is
- 14:39Speaker 4: totally consumed in that project, in that task, and that
- 14:44Speaker 4: this is what I've come to believe right that gives
- 14:47Speaker 4: me deep meaning and purpose in my life at that moment.
- 14:51Speaker 4: And we are we've been conditioned or definitely I read
- 14:55Speaker 4: and heard and you know it's you've got to find
- 14:58Speaker 4: your overarching purpose. I call bullsh on that, because we
- 15:00Speaker 4: don't live in an overarching world. We live in now.
- 15:03Speaker 4: And what I've come to believe is that when we
- 15:06Speaker 4: learn how to find deep meaning and purpose in now
- 15:08Speaker 4: with what we're doing by way of tasks and projects,
- 15:12Speaker 4: that is the catalyst to give to build a purposeful life,
- 15:17Speaker 4: a purpose driven life, not seeking purpose into the future,
- 15:21Speaker 4: but finding it where you are. And it's in doing
- 15:23Speaker 4: those things that I get in this incredibly deep sense
- 15:29Speaker 4: of purpose and meaning in my life. And I get
- 15:31Speaker 4: goosebumps when I talk about it, which to me says
- 15:33Speaker 4: it's a profound truth. I believe that. And because you're
- 15:38Speaker 4: so in it, you're not defined by it. It's not
- 15:41Speaker 4: any nothing, no one, It just you are so consumed
- 15:45Speaker 4: in it. And then you walk and then like you
- 15:48Speaker 4: come and I'm sweating bullets or sweating coat bottles. You
- 15:50Speaker 4: go down there with like gloves on burnies, two jumpers, whatever,
- 15:53Speaker 4: twenty minutes it shirts off. I'm sweating bullets and I
- 15:58Speaker 4: come up a few hours later, I'm walking up through
- 16:00Speaker 4: the paddocks and one of my horses he tripped over
- 16:03Speaker 4: a heel. I'm laughing at him, like fuck' good on
- 16:06Speaker 4: you for I'm like just laughing looking he didn't fall over,
- 16:09Speaker 4: but he just tripped and just was funny. And then
- 16:12Speaker 4: I look over and there's Lucy full throttle, little Scottish
- 16:16Speaker 4: terrier coming up because she I've been down there for
- 16:18Speaker 4: three hours. She realized I left. She She's coming up
- 16:21Speaker 4: full speed. She's low wheel based, the Scottish terrier full
- 16:24Speaker 4: and she went to go under the bottom railing of
- 16:26Speaker 4: the fence and clipped the head and it was like
- 16:30Speaker 4: she was fine, but it was like in rugby league
- 16:32Speaker 4: it's the HIA, the head injury assessment, so on there
- 16:35Speaker 4: like Lucy's off to the HIA. I'm just laughing at
- 16:38Speaker 4: my own jokes. It's probably why I'm a recluse, keep
- 16:41Speaker 4: myself amused and over in a chuckle. And the horse
- 16:45Speaker 4: tripped over and she hit her head and it's just there.
- 16:47Speaker 4: Good's there. And I've been chopping down trees at most
- 16:51Speaker 4: people go, oh fuck that No one's paying me spot
- 16:55Speaker 4: the irony, folks, right, that's where the juice and the
- 16:58Speaker 4: magic is. And something that I really short change myself
- 17:02Speaker 4: when in my twenties and thirties because I was told
- 17:03Speaker 4: to outsource all the low in the low dollar producing work. Sure,
- 17:07Speaker 4: when you're scaling a business and you're the CEO, you're
- 17:09Speaker 4: not planning the dunnies five times a day. Obviously captainN omnious,
- 17:14Speaker 4: but to a point not your fault. If you outsource
- 17:18Speaker 4: all of the manual tasks, you short change yourself on
- 17:21Speaker 4: life and joy and purpose in the now because I
- 17:25Speaker 4: because I get burnt out like I did the week before, laugh,
- 17:27Speaker 4: when I'm doing too much thinking from across fifty businesses
- 17:32Speaker 4: a week which I am strategically, like, my brain just breaks,
- 17:38Speaker 4: it breaks. I couldn't turn off my head by the
- 17:40Speaker 4: end of that week, Like I just need, like I
- 17:42Speaker 4: need a week off throwing the blocked ears and whatnot.
- 17:45Speaker 4: And it was tying of arrest. But like the thing is,
- 17:47Speaker 4: you've got to do this stuff, and then you optimize
- 17:50Speaker 4: yourself to be more effective in the high dollar producing work,
- 17:55Speaker 4: but just all high dollar producing use of your time.
- 17:58Speaker 4: In my humble opinion, is not what optimizes you. So
- 18:02Speaker 4: I do a few bit now. If I was chopping
- 18:03Speaker 4: down trees every day, it'll be horrible, But once every
- 18:06Speaker 4: few months it's very, very rewarding.
- 18:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I feel like when I first met you, when
- 18:14Speaker 3: you were running a mark with business and life and people,
- 18:18Speaker 3: and you were very your life was, among other things,
- 18:22Speaker 3: very social, very very intertwined with a lot of other
- 18:27Speaker 3: human beings, a lot of relationships, a lot of friendships,
- 18:31Speaker 3: a lot of socializing, lot of dinners, a lot of lunches,
- 18:34Speaker 3: a lot of partying, a lot of humans around you.
- 18:37Speaker 3: And now your life is the opposite of that. Tell
- 18:41Speaker 3: us a little bit about you that you now like
- 18:44Speaker 3: because I mean and one of the other. Here's my
- 18:47Speaker 3: next long winded question. Like we talk so much in
- 18:51Speaker 3: mental health now about the importance of connection and the
- 18:54Speaker 3: importance of having other people around us and feeling loved
- 18:58Speaker 3: and valued and belonging. It almost seems like that doesn't
- 19:01Speaker 3: apply to you.
- 19:04Speaker 4: We might remember many, many a few years ago now,
- 19:07Speaker 4: when I was at rock bottom and just rolling around
- 19:10Speaker 4: in the mud working out what to do, putting out
- 19:12Speaker 4: the chairs aa n A and roll call and open
- 19:16Speaker 4: the bus that hit me on the way down. You
- 19:18Speaker 4: said make it into a holding pattern, and you said
- 19:24Speaker 4: when you walk through the spiritual door, there's no walk
- 19:26Speaker 4: it turning back. And I don't like that works. It's
- 19:29Speaker 4: such a bloody badge and I don't even use it
- 19:31Speaker 4: other than for the sake of this sort of thing.
- 19:35Speaker 4: It's a really interesting one because whatever you know, that
- 19:40Speaker 4: word or anything of that ilk right, it changes everything
- 19:44Speaker 4: because you know, there's nothing more lonely than being around
- 19:50Speaker 4: people that you don't gel, that you're not aligned with.
- 19:53Speaker 4: That's where your loneliness is. If you're not aligned, you
- 19:56Speaker 4: got to be an alignment. The majority of people are
- 19:59Speaker 4: in ahead thinking about yesterday and tomorrow and problems and
- 20:03Speaker 4: what if scenario is right, there's no connection there anyway.
- 20:07Speaker 4: So for me, you've got For me, it's got to
- 20:11Speaker 4: be people who are aligned and are comfortable in themselves
- 20:16Speaker 4: and that they're not like paralyzed by head noise and whatnot.
- 20:20Speaker 4: And then that's great. But for me, I don't feel
- 20:25Speaker 4: lonely because it's it's hard to talk about because it's
- 20:29Speaker 4: it just gets there's so much bullshit in that sort
- 20:31Speaker 4: of energy frequency spiritual world. Like I never really go
- 20:35Speaker 4: into it because I just call bullshit on a lot
- 20:38Speaker 4: of you know, people's behaviors that wax lyrical about it.
- 20:42Speaker 4: But like you, I look at the animals. I just
- 20:47Speaker 4: look at there's a lot. There's a life force and
- 20:49Speaker 4: energy to life, and you're connected to that. Now, part
- 20:52Speaker 4: of that are humans and human experiences, but that's part
- 20:55Speaker 4: of it, it's not all of it. It's not all
- 20:56Speaker 4: of it. And you know there's such there's an energy
- 21:00Speaker 4: to this life human experience, and the more conscious I
- 21:04Speaker 4: believe you become, you feel that you're a part of that,
- 21:07Speaker 4: and there's a oneness to it that I don't. Yeah,
- 21:10Speaker 4: it's different. I don't like social interactions, parties and all
- 21:14Speaker 4: that and everyone. That would drain the fuck out of me.
- 21:17Speaker 4: I'd need to sleep for a week now. Like it's
- 21:21Speaker 4: just different. It's like I can't it's fully understand it
- 21:24Speaker 4: or explain it. But I like talking to people like
- 21:27Speaker 4: yourself and known for a long time and that nothing
- 21:29Speaker 4: approved and we have a chatting But I don't have
- 21:32Speaker 4: a craving or a whole like avoid in my life
- 21:35Speaker 4: for shitloads of people, if that makes any sense at all.
- 21:40Speaker 4: What I do know about animals right is that I
- 21:42Speaker 4: just love the beauty and the magic of life without
- 21:45Speaker 4: humans over with, you know, fucking it up and over
- 21:47Speaker 4: complicating it. So animals are always present and grateful, you know,
- 21:52Speaker 4: and you get what you're in your environment, So I
- 21:55Speaker 4: stack the deck. They're always present, they're always grateful, and
- 22:00Speaker 4: you know a lot of humans are generally not present
- 22:03Speaker 4: and not grateful, right, So I'm not shiit Kenny humans
- 22:07Speaker 4: being one of them. But you know, we're defective products.
- 22:10Speaker 4: If we were to corollas, we wouldn't have come off
- 22:12Speaker 4: the production line me as well, all of us, right
- 22:15Speaker 4: we are, We've got these I believe the human condition
- 22:18Speaker 4: at this point in our evolution, like it's like we've
- 22:21Speaker 4: got this big brain, this f one engine, we haven't
- 22:23Speaker 4: learned how to drive it properly. That's what I believe me.
- 22:26Speaker 4: You're doing the PhD, so you know a lot more
- 22:28Speaker 4: about it than I would. But I believe our brains
- 22:31Speaker 4: are like we've got to learn how to turn them
- 22:33Speaker 4: on and off. And people haven't been taught. And I
- 22:35Speaker 4: had to teach myself. Right, like you said, at the start,
- 22:37Speaker 4: I was float as attacked thought, but this boat's depresses
- 22:40Speaker 4: is going to be shit? Should we rain check? Next minute?
- 22:42Speaker 4: We're on right. So that's you've got to learn how
- 22:45Speaker 4: to turn it on, turn it off, up, down, Hi,
- 22:48Speaker 4: go up and down the gears as needed, on demand.
- 22:52Speaker 4: It's a discipline in your mind, not being a slave
- 22:55Speaker 4: to your mind. Right, the mind or the monkey brain.
- 22:57Speaker 4: It's going to do all sorts of stuff if you
- 22:59Speaker 4: let it, if you don't know how to reset it.
- 23:02Speaker 4: And like some of that stuff, chopping down trees, time
- 23:04Speaker 4: with the animals and whatnot. That's my medicine, that's my drug.
- 23:09Speaker 4: Like the other night I was I ride horses at
- 23:11Speaker 4: night now in the arena and there's no one there.
- 23:13Speaker 4: It's heaven. There's two little birds that sleep in one
- 23:16Speaker 4: of the grooming bays, right up on a ledge and
- 23:19Speaker 4: the mate. It melts my heart. These animals, the magic,
- 23:23Speaker 4: the beauty and the peace of life when it's silent
- 23:28Speaker 4: and you're just a part of it and they're comfortable
- 23:30Speaker 4: with you around. The little birds don't even leave when
- 23:32Speaker 4: I'm right near him. Now it's great. And one of
- 23:35Speaker 4: the horses I was putting back in the stable and
- 23:37Speaker 4: she dropped a carrot on the ground. It was pitched
- 23:39Speaker 4: black in this table and I am there like her
- 23:43Speaker 4: head's down at my hip and we're both sort of
- 23:45Speaker 4: on the ground almost looking for this carrot in the dark.
- 23:48Speaker 4: It was just beautiful and this horse is massive. But
- 23:52Speaker 4: there's such a connection bond love that there's you just
- 23:57Speaker 4: this trust bond that you build with the animals over
- 23:59Speaker 4: to that you've got to earn. You can't buy, you
- 24:02Speaker 4: can't fake, you can't fast track, you can't intellectualize the
- 24:06Speaker 4: trust the consistent. I love that, and I love that
- 24:09Speaker 4: in people as well, of course. But in getting back
- 24:12Speaker 4: to your question, apologies for the long winded synopsis, but
- 24:17Speaker 4: it's sort of I was. I'd hang out with anyone
- 24:19Speaker 4: back in the day, probably part of it, so I
- 24:21Speaker 4: would have a drink too, right, And it was kind
- 24:24Speaker 4: I was probably had a relationship with alcohols as much
- 24:26Speaker 4: as I did with all the people around me at
- 24:28Speaker 4: that point in time. And when you stop drinking, well,
- 24:32Speaker 4: it's quite a confronting thing because you don't have a
- 24:34Speaker 4: lot in common with a lot of your old piss
- 24:36Speaker 4: had mates too, So a lot of the socializing that's
- 24:39Speaker 4: done is when we're inebriated, and when you're not drink,
- 24:42Speaker 4: when you don't drink, well, you don't really just want
- 24:45Speaker 4: to sit around and talk shit. You want to live.
- 24:47Speaker 4: You want to live, you want to feel, you want
- 24:49Speaker 4: to experience, you want to be. You just don't want
- 24:51Speaker 4: to sit around and talk shit full of piss because
- 24:54Speaker 4: you're sober.
- 24:55Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I think the other thing about animals too,
- 24:58Speaker 3: is that they're never not authentic, Like you never have
- 25:02Speaker 3: to figure out whether or not they're full of shit.
- 25:04Speaker 4: That's right.
- 25:05Speaker 3: You don't have to read between the lines. You don't
- 25:09Speaker 3: have to go is this the person or the persona?
- 25:12Speaker 3: Is this fucking Is there an agenda?
- 25:14Speaker 1: Like?
- 25:14Speaker 3: If there is an agenda, you know it because they're
- 25:16Speaker 3: trying to get food out of your hand.
- 25:18Speaker 1: Right. There's no you know, no bullshit.
- 25:22Speaker 4: There's no Machiavelian politics, there's no agendas, there's none of
- 25:25Speaker 4: that stuff. There's an honesty in it. There's an integrity
- 25:28Speaker 4: there and you learn. So I learned so much, you know,
- 25:34Speaker 4: with all just observing and being around the animals. I
- 25:37Speaker 4: got one hundred cockatoos that eat in the backyard every day,
- 25:40Speaker 4: and now it's the best. I just dump twenty kilos
- 25:43Speaker 4: of wild bird seed on the grass. Mate. It's an
- 25:45Speaker 4: absolute free for all, and it's just the best. It's
- 25:50Speaker 4: a sea of white and you know, all these different things.
- 25:54Speaker 4: But I think also for twenty years I was going
- 25:57Speaker 4: to the opening of an envelope and like a butterfly
- 26:00Speaker 4: dot com and all of what you said, right, So
- 26:04Speaker 4: I've probably I've probably done ten lifetimes of it as well,
- 26:08Speaker 4: so eating out of the China doll and otto every
- 26:11Speaker 4: night like it was bloody cheap takeaway. I've just done
- 26:14Speaker 4: it to death. I'm not shit canning it. I just
- 26:17Speaker 4: did so much of it for so bloody long. But
- 26:19Speaker 4: life to me is about experiences, new experiences. I want
- 26:23Speaker 4: to turn the page. I want to experience more, right.
- 26:26Speaker 4: I love going out, getting collecting kindling, starting a fire,
- 26:29Speaker 4: splitting a log, sitting here it's on now, the fire
- 26:32Speaker 4: that Lucy's asleep behind me, the other dog somewhere. Like
- 26:36Speaker 4: new experiences. I don't just want to keep reading the
- 26:39Speaker 4: same fucking chapter that was the shit out of me.
- 26:42Speaker 4: And with the business stuff as well, like entrepreneurs listening
- 26:47Speaker 4: people in business. For me, I find like about a
- 26:50Speaker 4: five years of you know, you're super fied up about it,
- 26:53Speaker 4: then you're start to get a bit bored. Now it
- 26:55Speaker 4: might be longer. And if you've got a hobby and
- 26:57Speaker 4: a life you know alongside it, which I never did.
- 26:59Speaker 4: But it don't sort of beat yourself up that you
- 27:02Speaker 4: want to do something new if you're strategic about how
- 27:05Speaker 4: you engineer that. We're here to experience life. We're not
- 27:08Speaker 4: here to be a slaver or a prisoner to one
- 27:11Speaker 4: chapter of it. And when you're not defined by your
- 27:14Speaker 4: balance sheet and your car and all that, it opens
- 27:16Speaker 4: you up to so many possibilities. And I believe you
- 27:19Speaker 4: have more financial commercial success in the long term if
- 27:23Speaker 4: you stay the course on that path.
- 27:27Speaker 3: You know we'll wind up. But I just want, I
- 27:29Speaker 3: want you to speak to this a little bit, just because.
- 27:34Speaker 1: I want your insight around there.
- 27:35Speaker 3: So everything you're saying, I think makes sense to everyone,
- 27:38Speaker 3: and I don't think anyone's sitting at home going that's bullshit.
- 27:43Speaker 1: I agree.
- 27:45Speaker 3: But we also and you spoke earlier about chest beating,
- 27:48Speaker 3: but we also live in a culture and a climate
- 27:51Speaker 3: and a time where chest beating is fucking everywhere on Instagram,
- 27:56Speaker 3: you know, on Facebook, everything's about look at me, look
- 27:58Speaker 3: at what I've done, look at my breakfast, look at
- 28:00Speaker 3: my body, look at my face, look at my fucking achievements.
- 28:05Speaker 3: How do we reconcile that or how do we and
- 28:08Speaker 3: without I understand that too, because I did a fair
- 28:11Speaker 3: bit of that myself, right. There was a lot of
- 28:13Speaker 3: ego and bullshit and insecurity and self doubt and love me,
- 28:17Speaker 3: like me, want me to prove of me. There's fair
- 28:19Speaker 3: bit of that gone on on my journey, by the
- 28:21Speaker 3: way as well. How do we turn that down? And
- 28:25Speaker 3: how do we like that's? That's almost an addiction in itself.
- 28:30Speaker 3: What are your thoughts around that.
- 28:32Speaker 4: Great question? All I can say to people from the
- 28:37Speaker 4: hand on heart, I went down that road on steroids, right,
- 28:45Speaker 4: and there's nothing at the end of it good. It
- 28:48Speaker 4: just you just need more and more and more external validation,
- 28:51Speaker 4: chasing external needing external validation to feel successful. It's a
- 28:55Speaker 4: bottomless pit. It's the greatest trap. So the hard thing is,
- 29:00Speaker 4: of course, until you've done it and realize that it's
- 29:03Speaker 4: very hard not to do it right because everyone's doing it.
- 29:05Speaker 4: We live in a world where you know, social media
- 29:08Speaker 4: is prolific and technology is great, but you want to
- 29:10Speaker 4: use technology, not be used by it. And one of
- 29:12Speaker 4: the real solutions to this as well is limiting your
- 29:15Speaker 4: data windows and exposure so that you've actually got some
- 29:18Speaker 4: time just heaven forbid, sitting in front of the fire
- 29:21Speaker 4: or something, not just scrolling social media and just binging
- 29:24Speaker 4: more data, comparing and what not. By default on social media,
- 29:28Speaker 4: it's impossible not to compare when you're scrolling through social
- 29:30Speaker 4: media all the time. So limiting data or having data
- 29:33Speaker 4: windows of exposure and being vigilant with that, disciplining yourself
- 29:37Speaker 4: so that you've got time to be where you are,
- 29:39Speaker 4: not in your head or on a screen, that's key.
- 29:42Speaker 4: And the reality is again like if you haven't felt
- 29:46Speaker 4: what's at the end of that road, it's hard to
- 29:48Speaker 4: just trust what I'm saying. It's maybe it's impossible, I
- 29:51Speaker 4: don't know, but there's just nothing. There's no joy at
- 29:54Speaker 4: the end of that. There's disease of more. It's like
- 29:59Speaker 4: a drug addict needing more drugs to get the same hit.
- 30:01Speaker 4: You just need more money, more this, more that, more
- 30:04Speaker 4: cars to get the same hit. I tried, but so
- 30:08Speaker 4: breaking free from that is you know, it's probably why
- 30:11Speaker 4: I am quite reclusive these days, because it's it's sad.
- 30:17Speaker 4: It's sad. I just know there's no joy and love
- 30:19Speaker 4: and connection and depth to that road and really finding
- 30:23Speaker 4: yourself on that road. I was so lost for so long.
- 30:26Speaker 4: I didn't know where to start. That's why I need
- 30:28Speaker 4: to get hammered so hard. That have the reset, and
- 30:32Speaker 4: I'm grateful for that. But like if you can break
- 30:36Speaker 4: if a person can break free from that, then the
- 30:40Speaker 4: potential is limitless because you avoid all the traps moving forward,
- 30:44Speaker 4: all the trappings of success, because you know where you're
- 30:46Speaker 4: going and who you are.
- 30:48Speaker 3: Yeah, and I think it's almost like we're trying to
- 30:52Speaker 3: fill some internal void with some external thing.
- 30:56Speaker 1: You know.
- 30:56Speaker 3: It's like what's got what's really lacking is it's more
- 31:00Speaker 3: an internal it's emotional, it's spiritual, it's psychological, it's something.
- 31:04Speaker 3: But what's not missing is more fans. What's not missing
- 31:08Speaker 3: is a bigger Telly. What's not missing is more dough
- 31:11Speaker 3: or more pats on the back.
- 31:13Speaker 1: Yeah. So well you're amazing.
- 31:16Speaker 4: Just going one last thing just with what I was,
- 31:19Speaker 4: just exactly what you said there, Like when you learn
- 31:22Speaker 4: to do this and you limit some data and you
- 31:24Speaker 4: get some time, like me, I was chopping down the trees.
- 31:27Speaker 4: Whatever the idea is. The brilliant ideas that come to me,
- 31:32Speaker 4: they come doing that. That's an important point. So I
- 31:35Speaker 4: know strategically when I do that, Because I'm not saying
- 31:39Speaker 4: that I won't do other businesses. I may well, but
- 31:43Speaker 4: they won't be like they used to be, and they
- 31:44Speaker 4: won't be done for those reasons at all. But the
- 31:47Speaker 4: point is is that the goal, the absolute gold, as
- 31:50Speaker 4: you've said before, threw me, not from me. It just
- 31:54Speaker 4: hits the back of my head. When I'm an hour
- 31:55Speaker 4: into doing those tasks, it's like I'm in this deep
- 32:00Speaker 4: state of being and things are just obvious. Everything gets
- 32:04Speaker 4: really obvious because there's no head noise, and I know
- 32:07Speaker 4: what to do next.
- 32:10Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, mate, we'll wind it up. We appreciate
- 32:13Speaker 3: you again, Thank you for your time. Enjoy the ducks,
- 32:17Speaker 3: Enjoy the cockies, Enjoy the dogs, enjoy the horses. Enjoy
- 32:21Speaker 3: the solitude. TIF do you want to go and stay
- 32:24Speaker 3: with you wouldn't have you because he doesn't want visitors.
- 32:26Speaker 3: But wouldn't you love to stay for a weekend. As
- 32:28Speaker 3: soon as he said horses, I was almost in the
- 32:31Speaker 3: car already.
- 32:33Speaker 1: Less.
- 32:33Speaker 4: We'll have to get you up in your tiff.
- 32:34Speaker 2: Yes, please go.
- 32:36Speaker 3: And stay a weekend with Jeff. You might you might
- 32:38Speaker 3: come back changed.
- 32:39Speaker 2: Me and Luna will come up.
- 32:42Speaker 4: Lucy just there. She loves It's all.
- 32:46Speaker 3: As soon as you said, Luna, Lucy barked, there you go.
- 32:52Speaker 1: It all right mate, stay there.
- 32:53Speaker 3: We'll say goodbye Fair but for the minute. Thanks champ
- 32:56Speaker 3: see ya, see yup.
