- 0:01Speaker 1: Thanks Mike back with Gock and head coach Lane Lambert
- 0:03Speaker 1: big win up in Vegas back on Saturday. Just take
- 0:06Speaker 1: us through a game that I had a little bit
- 0:09Speaker 1: of everything ultimately led to you guys getting two big
- 0:11Speaker 1: points in the standings.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought, you know, I thought we started well.
- 0:15Speaker 2: I didn't know. I didn't think we're great in the
- 0:18Speaker 2: second period and gave up a late goal. But I
- 0:20Speaker 2: really liked our response coming out in the third period
- 0:23Speaker 2: and making sure that we you know, continued and we
- 0:26Speaker 2: talk all the time about being on our toes and
- 0:28Speaker 2: what that means is we're you know, pushing north and
- 0:31Speaker 2: putting pressure on teams. And you know, if you look
- 0:33Speaker 2: at the cause and effect, which I do, you know,
- 0:37Speaker 2: Elie Tolvenen forces in icing and you know, face off later,
- 0:42Speaker 2: it's in the back of their net for our winning goals.
- 0:43Speaker 2: So you know, I love the fact that we didn't
- 0:46Speaker 2: sit back and kept on going north.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Jared mccannon named NHL First Star of the Week. And
- 0:51Speaker 1: he's had some time missed with injury this season, but
- 0:54Speaker 1: now in the thirty games he's played, he's got points
- 0:57Speaker 1: in twenty one of those games. What have you made?
- 0:59Speaker 1: What you like about his game and how impressed are
- 1:02Speaker 1: you that he's able to do so much offensively given
- 1:05Speaker 1: the fact that he's missed a lot of time with injury.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Ah, well, you know what he's I think he's an
- 1:11Speaker 2: an elite offensive mind. I'm not surprised. He's franchises all
- 1:17Speaker 2: time leading scorer and point getter and has led the
- 1:21Speaker 2: team in scoring every year. You know, he just needed
- 1:25Speaker 2: to get back, get healthy and sort of catch the
- 1:28Speaker 2: moving train, so to speak, and I think he's done that.
- 1:31Speaker 2: You know, I'm impressed with this game. I'm impressed with
- 1:33Speaker 2: his poise and certainly you know, when he's able to
- 1:36Speaker 2: get his shot away, which you know he does, well,
- 1:40Speaker 2: it's a rocket, as we witnessed in Vegas on the
- 1:44Speaker 2: power Play.
- 1:44Speaker 1: He's talked a lot about playing with Matty Veneer's and
- 1:46Speaker 1: Jordan Eberley and how much they've meant to his game
- 1:49Speaker 1: and helped his game. What do you personally like about
- 1:52Speaker 1: that line in the group and that you've been able
- 1:53Speaker 1: to put together.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Well, I think you know, when we decided to finally
- 1:57Speaker 2: put them together, you know, we were thinking, you know,
- 2:03Speaker 2: how much balance we would have, But at the end
- 2:05Speaker 2: of the day, I think in order to get the
- 2:07Speaker 2: most out of those three guys, having them together makes
- 2:09Speaker 2: the most sense, and they've done a really good job
- 2:11Speaker 2: from that standpoint of proving that to be correct.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Both these games here tonight, Dan tomorrow against the Gags
- 2:17Speaker 1: are going to be huge. But looking at the standings,
- 2:19Speaker 1: I mean, you're three points back at first, so it's
- 2:21Speaker 1: potentially this is the first place team going out of
- 2:23Speaker 1: the Olympic break. How do you keep that from maybe
- 2:27Speaker 1: creeping in a little bit to the dock room. I know,
- 2:29Speaker 1: we take things one day at a time, but two
- 2:31Speaker 1: big games coming up here this week.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it's so close that you know, you
- 2:37Speaker 2: can win a couple of games and be in first,
- 2:39Speaker 2: and lose a couple of games and be out of
- 2:41Speaker 2: the playoffs. So I just think from that standpoint, I
- 2:46Speaker 2: just think that it keeps everybody really grounded in terms
- 2:49Speaker 2: of where you're at, and you just have to keep
- 2:52Speaker 2: taking it one day at a time, one game at
- 2:54Speaker 2: a time, one period of time, and one shift at
- 2:56Speaker 2: a time, and that's what we'll that's what we'll do
- 3:00Speaker 2: as long as we, you know, put our best foot
- 3:02Speaker 2: forward and play the game we want to play, you know,
- 3:05Speaker 2: we'll see where the results go from there.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Do you like that parody around the league or is
- 3:09Speaker 1: it a bit too nerve wracking? Do you wish it
- 3:11Speaker 1: wasn't the difference between two or three points means you're
- 3:14Speaker 1: in first or you're going golfing?
- 3:16Speaker 2: No, I mean I like it. I think it's I
- 3:19Speaker 2: think it's good for the for the league itself, and
- 3:23Speaker 2: I also like it for our hockey team. You know,
- 3:27Speaker 2: do I want to be ten points in first place? Sure,
- 3:30Speaker 2: but it's good for our hockey team. It's good for
- 3:32Speaker 2: our development of our young players as well. Meaningful games
- 3:35Speaker 2: or you can't put a price tag on playing meaningful games.
- 3:40Speaker 2: You know, once you're out of the playoffs and you're
- 3:42Speaker 2: playing those games that don't mean anything, they really don't
- 3:46Speaker 2: mean anything to me. You can score ten goals in
- 3:48Speaker 2: the last ten games when you're out of the playoffs
- 3:50Speaker 2: and you know it doesn't matter. You have to play
- 3:54Speaker 2: meaningful games. So this is good for our guys.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Last time these two teams met, you didn't like the
- 3:58Speaker 1: first forty minutes the crack and had a game sayta hi,
- 4:00Speaker 1: but you like the last twenty What lessons can you
- 4:03Speaker 1: take from that loss and apply here to some landscape.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Well, we just we just need to be better. It
- 4:08Speaker 2: was one of those games where I don't really think that,
- 4:11Speaker 2: you know, we were trying to be bad. It just
- 4:15Speaker 2: we kind of looked at each other a couple of
- 4:17Speaker 2: times on the benches coaches, and said, you know, what
- 4:20Speaker 2: are we doing. We just couldn't connect. We were not
- 4:24Speaker 2: in sync. It was it was really weird. Forty minutes
- 4:28Speaker 2: you know, we just have to be ready to go.
