- 1:40Speaker 1: share a recent review that we loved seeing It's five
- 1:43Speaker 1: stars from Mama Magna twenty eight and she says, love
- 1:46Speaker 1: this podcast. I'm one of those crazy people who watch
- 1:49Speaker 1: every single Homemark Christmas movie and most of the ones
- 1:52Speaker 1: during the year. I love that your podcast makes me
- 1:54Speaker 1: feel like we are recapping the movies together like friends
- 1:57Speaker 1: sitting around the kitchen table with coffee. Also love that
- 2:00Speaker 1: you keep me up to date on happenings in the
- 2:02Speaker 1: Hallmark World. Favorite part of each episode did you see that? Yay?
- 2:07Speaker 1: I got a good one today too, you do. And
- 2:10Speaker 1: in honor of the fact that we're just sitting around
- 2:13Speaker 1: chatting with you guys around the table, Wendy, what are
- 2:15Speaker 1: you drinking this morning? My classic black tea because I'm
- 2:20Speaker 1: super fun? An English breakfast, yes, ma'am, not even the
- 2:24Speaker 1: joy tea, not today, No, what about you? I have
- 2:29Speaker 1: a Starbucks an espresso Pumpkin spice coffee pod, and I
- 2:35Speaker 1: added to it the new or new to me Starbucks
- 2:40Speaker 1: Brown Sugar Espresso oat milk creamer, which is delightful. I
- 2:45Speaker 1: recommend you look for it if you are a fan
- 2:48Speaker 1: of the brown sugar shaken espresso, which I am. I
- 2:50Speaker 1: cannot quit them. I feel like you used to make
- 2:53Speaker 1: your own at home, though I did. I did, But
- 2:56Speaker 1: I like this creamer. I used to make my own
- 2:58Speaker 1: brown sugar shaken espressos at home. I liked very much.
- 3:00Speaker 1: But I like this screamer is for adding to hot
- 3:03Speaker 1: coffee sometimes I like a simpler approach. Got it cool? Yeah?
- 3:09Speaker 1: All right, well let's jump right into a Christmas Angel Match, which,
- 3:12Speaker 1: for some reason, my brain wants to call Project Angel
- 3:15Speaker 1: Match every single time. With a synopsis, two Christmas Angels
- 3:21Speaker 1: with opposite styles must unite soulmates before the holiday while
- 3:26Speaker 1: dealing with department downsizing and their own unexpected connection. Christy
- 3:32Speaker 1: will Wolf takes on double duty as both director and
- 3:35Speaker 1: executive producer of a Christmas Angel Match. This marks her
- 3:38Speaker 1: forty six project as a director and her third collaboration
- 3:41Speaker 1: with Megan Ory in just three years. The script was
- 3:44Speaker 1: written by Megan Ori According to IMDb, this is her
- 3:48Speaker 1: first writing project. Megan also stars as Monica. She's best
- 3:53Speaker 1: known for her longtime roles on Chesapeake Shores and Once
- 3:56Speaker 1: Upon a Time, but we last saw her opposite her
- 3:58Speaker 1: husband in the twenty twenty four holiday movie Believe in Christmas.
- 4:02Speaker 1: I did read an interview with Megan where she says
- 4:04Speaker 1: she's already working on a sequel. She's got some ideas
- 4:07Speaker 1: wait as sequel to this indeed. Now, oh it's just
- 4:12Speaker 1: early days. Nothing that has been picked up or announced,
- 4:14Speaker 1: but she definitely she would love to move on to
- 4:16Speaker 1: the next one, got it. Benjamin airstars as Michael, with
- 4:20Speaker 1: an impressive one hundred and seven acting credits. Ben currently
- 4:23Speaker 1: appears in the CW's Family Law and will soon return
- 4:27Speaker 1: to Hallmark as part of the True Justice sequels. Yes,
- 4:30Speaker 1: parts two and three are on the way. I'm guessing
- 4:34Speaker 1: twenty twenty six sometime, but who knows. I here's having Yeah. Lendera,
- 4:42Speaker 1: she only goes by Lendera joins the cast as Daisy.
- 4:46Speaker 1: She's best known for portraying Sydney in the CW's Sullivan's
- 4:49Speaker 1: Cross Sing. She's also familiar to Hamewark fans from her
- 4:52Speaker 1: Apparents and Believe in Christmas. Francesco Filiche stars as Patrick,
- 4:56Speaker 1: marking his first ever Hamewark appearance with fourteen acting credits.
- 4:59Speaker 1: French has previously been seen an Alert, Missing Persons Unit
- 5:04Speaker 1: and The Manhattan Project. Michael Dixon plays Gabrielle. Michael has
- 5:10Speaker 1: thirty seven acting credits and appeared last on Hallmark in
- 5:13Speaker 1: Head Over Hills in twenty twenty four. Amanda Jordan plays Mirabelle.
- 5:17Speaker 1: She's both a singer and an actress, and this movie
- 5:19Speaker 1: marks her eighth acting credit. She previously appeared in Feeling
- 5:22Speaker 1: Butterflies from twenty twenty two. Jordan Shore plays Daisy's bestie Marcus.
- 5:28Speaker 1: This is his fourteenth acting credit and first time on Hallmark.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Danielle Evie Chambers plays Darcy with just nine acting credits.
- 5:35Speaker 1: This is also her first time on Hallmark. Linda McCurdy
- 5:38Speaker 1: plays Patrick's adoptive grandmother. Linda has just two acting credits,
- 5:43Speaker 1: but Linda is also a real life criminal defense lawyer
- 5:46Speaker 1: practicing in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Whow As g Simpson plays
- 5:52Speaker 1: Daisy's grandfather Nathan, with six acting credits. He is also
- 5:55Speaker 1: a new face on Hallmark. This movie was filmed in
- 5:59Speaker 1: Ottawa on t Canada and the spring of twenty twenty five.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Before landing on a Christmas Angel Match, the movie had
- 6:05Speaker 1: two earlier working titles. It was first called Touched by
- 6:07Speaker 1: a Christmas Angel, then later Christmas Angel Effect. Maybe this
- 6:11Speaker 1: is why you can't land on a final title for it,
- 6:17Speaker 1: Maybe because it just has had so many different titles.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Perhaps maybe let's take a quick break and we'll come
- 6:23Speaker 1: right back with our first impressions. Hey, Wendy, what is
- 6:34Speaker 1: your first impression of a Christmas Angel Match? Well? I
- 6:38Speaker 1: didn't think I'd ever say this, but I thought that
- 6:41Speaker 1: flash Mob be kind of slayd I was. It is
- 6:47Speaker 1: one just what? Oh? No, my first impression is I
- 6:51Speaker 1: knew this movie would take us to Heaven, but I
- 6:53Speaker 1: didn't know heaven looked like the inside of an Ikea.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Oh the exposed indust real ceilings. Yeah, I hear you.
- 7:02Speaker 1: I gotta I have some thoughts on Heaven. I haven'kay
- 7:05Speaker 1: thoughts on Heaven. Let's talk what we liked, Okay. I
- 7:10Speaker 1: liked the concept of this movie, like angels. I like
- 7:13Speaker 1: a like an angel storyline, and I like angels helping
- 7:17Speaker 1: people who are super distracted in a tech heavy World.
- 7:21Speaker 1: I thought this was an interesting out of the box
- 7:26Speaker 1: kind of storyline for Hallmark. Yeah, I agree. I like
- 7:30Speaker 1: the take that it's harder for people to make connections
- 7:33Speaker 1: romantic or otherwise because we're so insular and focused on
- 7:38Speaker 1: our devices. It's kind of so true. You know. It
- 7:41Speaker 1: kind of made me feel bad about myself. Yeah, believe me.
- 7:45Speaker 1: I was like, maybe this is why I have no
- 7:47Speaker 1: friends because I am constantly have aer pods and or
- 7:53Speaker 1: my face is down in my phone. You know, do
- 7:55Speaker 1: you have you ever heard of a device called the brick? No,
- 8:00Speaker 1: it's basically a small magnetic device that is designed to
- 8:06Speaker 1: curb your screen time. Like basically, you set it up
- 8:10Speaker 1: however you want, and when you tap your phone to it,
- 8:12Speaker 1: it locks you out of whatever apps. Oh and you
- 8:17Speaker 1: can't get back in until you physically tap the device again,
- 8:21Speaker 1: So you can't just like bypass it with a password.
- 8:23Speaker 1: So if you say, like I'm going to block all
- 8:26Speaker 1: my social media and then you go run errands, you
- 8:29Speaker 1: can't get back in until you get home and unblock it,
- 8:33Speaker 1: or for me, I'm considering it. That's how bad the
- 8:35Speaker 1: addiction is right now. So to say that this movie
- 8:38Speaker 1: spoke to me would not be overstating it, right, right.
- 8:43Speaker 1: I do think this movie was a little polarizing, and
- 8:45Speaker 1: I have some thoughts perhaps on why a little later on,
- 8:48Speaker 1: But overall, like you said, I enjoyed the movie itself,
- 8:52Speaker 1: and I enjoyed the concept a lot. I think it's
- 8:55Speaker 1: a nice contrast to our first movie, which was very
- 8:57Speaker 1: classically Hallmark or Royal Montana Christmas, really classic Hallmark Christmas
- 9:01Speaker 1: movie in a lot of ways, and this one stepped
- 9:04Speaker 1: outside of that box. Not too far, though, No, I
- 9:08Speaker 1: think it. I don't. I agree with you. It still
- 9:12Speaker 1: fits within the parameters of what people are looking for.
- 9:15Speaker 1: But I think it's it's trying new things. Right. You're
- 9:19Speaker 1: not wrong about polarizing. We do that first impressions on
- 9:23Speaker 1: our Instagram, and I've seen some really on the spectrum
- 9:29Speaker 1: comments about it. Kind of surprised. Yeah, it's really run
- 9:32Speaker 1: the gamut. I've seen multiple people both on our Instagram,
- 9:35Speaker 1: in our Facebook group, and then other places across the
- 9:38Speaker 1: internet saying they didn't even finish the movie, which honestly
- 9:41Speaker 1: blows my mind. Me too. But I do have some thoughts,
- 9:44Speaker 1: But let's keep putting on what we liked. Okay, I
- 9:47Speaker 1: liked the magical realism elements to this. It's charming, you know,
- 9:52Speaker 1: a little like snappy fingers and some snow is falling,
- 9:54Speaker 1: or a little like twinkle or whatever. I'm you know,
- 9:58Speaker 1: I'm easily entertained by that stuff. Oh me too. I
- 10:02Speaker 1: like that too. It makes me feel Christmas magic when
- 10:05Speaker 1: I'm still in a pumpkin spice cocky frame of mine.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Exactly exactly. I also really enjoyed the pacing and the
- 10:13Speaker 1: dialogue between Michael and Monica. I thought they spoke to
- 10:19Speaker 1: each other in a snappy, sarcastic way that I enjoy
- 10:23Speaker 1: quite a bit. I didn't think it was mean spirited.
- 10:26Speaker 1: I did see some commentary that they thought some people
- 10:29Speaker 1: thought the things they said to each other were mean.
- 10:32Speaker 1: I didn't feel that way. There was one line that
- 10:35Speaker 1: made me lol. She tells Michael, we're not arguing, You're
- 10:40Speaker 1: just wrong, and I was like, I am stealing that
- 10:43Speaker 1: for myself. I thought the dialogue was great too, and
- 10:47Speaker 1: I think they were a little rough around the edges
- 10:49Speaker 1: and learning how to interact with each other because they
- 10:51Speaker 1: both did things in very different ways. But I agree
- 10:54Speaker 1: it wasn't mean spirited. They just were kind of like
- 10:57Speaker 1: a square peg in a round whole situation. They couldn't
- 10:59Speaker 1: quite find their footing together. And I liked later on
- 11:04Speaker 1: in the movie when they talk about why they were
- 11:07Speaker 1: perhaps paired together, and she was like, Oh, maybe I
- 11:09Speaker 1: should have had this conversation before we started working together.
- 11:12Speaker 1: It's a nice self aware moment. Yeah, Benjamin Ayirs and
- 11:17Speaker 1: Megan or are the stars of this movie, but not
- 11:20Speaker 1: just in that they receive top billing. I mean they
- 11:22Speaker 1: carry this movie for me. They do a really nice
- 11:26Speaker 1: job of having an innocent, earnest vibe about them, which
- 11:30Speaker 1: sets them apart from the tender hearts. And it was
- 11:35Speaker 1: very interesting for me to note because we started watching
- 11:39Speaker 1: the movie. My husband goes, oh, the dead people are
- 11:41Speaker 1: going to find love, and I was like, well, if
- 11:43Speaker 1: their matchmaking goes, obviously they're going to get together. But
- 11:46Speaker 1: what was interesting to me is halfway through the movie,
- 11:48Speaker 1: I go, they're not dead. Angels and humans are separate
- 11:53Speaker 1: beings in this movie, and oh my god, wait and
- 11:56Speaker 1: let me just stop you there. This is all in
- 11:58Speaker 1: my wishes. Oh no, okay, Well, I just have a
- 12:02Speaker 1: lot of questions about it, but like, go ahead and
- 12:05Speaker 1: we can circle back to this. I have questions about
- 12:07Speaker 1: it too. Well, let me just stick with the like part,
- 12:10Speaker 1: which is simply that I think their acting did a
- 12:12Speaker 1: really nice job of sending that message that they were
- 12:17Speaker 1: separate from the tender hearts, that they had separate experiences,
- 12:22Speaker 1: that innocence that they brought to their acting. I'm often
- 12:27Speaker 1: tempted to describe it as like a buddy the elf,
- 12:29Speaker 1: like you know, Benjamin kind of had that like excitement
- 12:32Speaker 1: about life. It wasn't quite what's a fad for color?
- 12:37Speaker 1: But I really liked it. I thought it was a
- 12:40Speaker 1: good choice on their parts. Yeah, two thoughts here. They're
- 12:44Speaker 1: not dead. She says that one time we were born angels,
- 12:48Speaker 1: so they're not dead, right, No, there, which is my point. Like,
- 12:53Speaker 1: going into this, I assume that angels are simply people
- 12:56Speaker 1: who have passed, and because I think that's often how
- 12:59Speaker 1: they're purtray right, like right, I don't actually know how
- 13:03Speaker 1: angels work, but that was the assumption going in. And yes,
- 13:06Speaker 1: they are fully separate beings who are born as angels. Right.
- 13:11Speaker 1: My second thought is I really enjoyed Michael's fun philosophy.
- 13:19Speaker 1: I was into it, you said, like, you know, he
- 13:23Speaker 1: was like Ernest And I read some commentary that he
- 13:27Speaker 1: came off as egotistical. I don't think so at all.
- 13:30Speaker 1: I mean either completely different way of approaching things and
- 13:36Speaker 1: not egotistical. I just think he was His philosophy was
- 13:39Speaker 1: totally different, and I was into his philosophy. I don't
- 13:42Speaker 1: I was not. That doesn't diminish like what Monica's way
- 13:47Speaker 1: of doing things in my mind. To me, they were
- 13:51Speaker 1: just different, but I enjoyed both of them. To your point,
- 13:55Speaker 1: when he look you talked about the dialogue in this movie,
- 13:58Speaker 1: the Great Snappy Dialogue. There's some great lines lines they
- 14:02Speaker 1: call them devious dms, which really hit home for me.
- 14:06Speaker 1: They say he dodges responsibility like a snowball fight. And
- 14:09Speaker 1: my favorite is the cheeky little moment where Michael talks
- 14:12Speaker 1: about like the life of the tender hearts that he's
- 14:14Speaker 1: interested in and he's like, I'm interested in human activities
- 14:18Speaker 1: that require a partner. And it's like long pause and
- 14:21Speaker 1: he goes like snowball fights, and I think that speaks
- 14:25Speaker 1: to what you're talking about, Like he's just here for
- 14:29Speaker 1: a good time right right that particular line, I was like,
- 14:35Speaker 1: where are they going with this? For like a half
- 14:38Speaker 1: a second, I was like, where are they going with
- 14:39Speaker 1: this and it turned out real sweet. Yes, speaking of
- 14:46Speaker 1: the DVUS DM's line, that was from Mirabel, and I
- 14:51Speaker 1: just thought she was adorable. Her delivery landed every single
- 14:54Speaker 1: time for me. Yeah, she's I think they could have
- 14:56Speaker 1: done more with her like I would have. I would
- 14:58Speaker 1: have been happy to see more of her. Agree. Agree?
- 15:02Speaker 1: I have several more likes. Do you want me to
- 15:04Speaker 1: just run through them? Sure. Ben's wardrobe I thought was sharp,
- 15:08Speaker 1: looked great just and she even made a comment at
- 15:12Speaker 1: one time I bought his fitted shirts and I was like,
- 15:14Speaker 1: I don't hate it. I don't hate any of it.
- 15:18Speaker 1: I love that. The holiday decor throughout I thought was
- 15:21Speaker 1: absolutely stunning. I have dogged on so many movies where
- 15:24Speaker 1: just I have said, you know what looks like copy
- 15:27Speaker 1: lobby has thrown up all over the place. But I
- 15:29Speaker 1: thought the Christmas decor in this movie looked really nice.
- 15:33Speaker 1: I agree, very classic. Yes. The another thing I really
- 15:39Speaker 1: liked was the subtle LGBTQ moment we have a her
- 15:49Speaker 1: best friend. I was like, it was a quiet yeah,
- 15:53Speaker 1: you know, quiet yay, A quiet yes. I mean I
- 15:57Speaker 1: need more, I need more homework, but a quiet yea
- 16:02Speaker 1: came from me and my last thing. I really liked that,
- 16:04Speaker 1: And I'm gonna circle to the flash mob scene. I
- 16:06Speaker 1: thought it was so joy filled and cinematic. It was
- 16:11Speaker 1: like slow most and low laughing, and it set a
- 16:15Speaker 1: whole vibe. But what was really funny to me was
- 16:20Speaker 1: right as it's starting and they're trying to get Patrick
- 16:24Speaker 1: to dance, or trying to force Patrick to dance, and
- 16:27Speaker 1: they're like almost mashing him into like this, and I
- 16:31Speaker 1: just thought that was so hilarious. It was executed beautifully.
- 16:35Speaker 1: I just thought it was really funny. Now, would I
- 16:37Speaker 1: ever participate in a mob dance? No, would I want
- 16:39Speaker 1: to see one unfold in front of me. Sure, I
- 16:42Speaker 1: thought it was fun. Well, we'll come back a little
- 16:46Speaker 1: bit to the flash mob. It's nothing to be worried about.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Let me just wrap up my legs here. I think
- 16:52Speaker 1: they did a really nice job of world building this
- 16:56Speaker 1: Heaven the DCC. We take the time in the beginning
- 16:58Speaker 1: of the movie to set the scene. We learn who
- 17:00Speaker 1: these people are, we learn their motivation. We know about
- 17:03Speaker 1: Monica and Michael and why their mission to set up
- 17:05Speaker 1: Daisy and Patrick is so important. Gabriel, there is a
- 17:09Speaker 1: real opportunity to make him exist off camera the entire movie,
- 17:13Speaker 1: and he doesn't, which I appreciate. I like the humorous
- 17:17Speaker 1: take that they're being, the thread of them being merged
- 17:20Speaker 1: with the cupids and the Valentine Department, the economy spars
- 17:23Speaker 1: no one that being said, I loved. I liked all
- 17:29Speaker 1: of that. As we transition to our wishes, I would
- 17:31Speaker 1: like to say, this movie is very dialogue heavy, and
- 17:36Speaker 1: I like those scenes, like the yoga scene. Right, there's
- 17:40Speaker 1: not a lot happening, but they're connecting, they're having a conversation,
- 17:44Speaker 1: and I think particularly when the dialogue is being delivered
- 17:47Speaker 1: by Megan and Ben, who had this great on camera
- 17:50Speaker 1: rapport who I really connected with. I liked it a lot.
- 17:54Speaker 1: I think it is possible that there could have been
- 17:59Speaker 1: viewers who wanted a little more showing than telling. If
- 18:02Speaker 1: you look at the top of the movie, it's like
- 18:04Speaker 1: fifteen minutes the whole like pre commercial, is them setting
- 18:09Speaker 1: the stage. I like it. I like details, but I
- 18:13Speaker 1: wonder if that's where they lost people. Oh interesting, I
- 18:19Speaker 1: don't think you're wrong, And isn't that ironic considering the
- 18:24Speaker 1: theme of this movie is that we live in a
- 18:26Speaker 1: distracted world and we don't have any you know, attention
- 18:31Speaker 1: span to listen to details. Where's alanis when you need
- 18:34Speaker 1: her exactly? I love that. Well, let's talk more about
- 18:38Speaker 1: your wishes. Why is Heaven downsizing? Yeah? I will. What
- 18:46Speaker 1: is there a financial issue? That's a great question. That's
- 18:48Speaker 1: a great question. Why are there real world problems in Paradise?
- 18:53Speaker 1: I don't understand. This should not be an issue. At
- 18:57Speaker 1: the end of the movie, Gabriel's like you saved Christmas,
- 18:59Speaker 1: I'm like, what happens if these two don't get together?
- 19:02Speaker 1: I don't. I don't understand how that save what? What's
- 19:06Speaker 1: the consequence? Yeah? I don't. I don't know. I also
- 19:10Speaker 1: don't fully understand the connection between like Matt, like the
- 19:13Speaker 1: Department of Christmas connections, Like why is there a Christmas
- 19:17Speaker 1: deadline on these matches other than it being like the
- 19:21Speaker 1: most wonderful time of year. I don't know. That's a
- 19:23Speaker 1: good question. That is a good question. One of my
- 19:26Speaker 1: biggest wishes. I hate it. I hate the uptight female
- 19:32Speaker 1: meets the fun guy trope. Sure, I hate it. I
- 19:34Speaker 1: will talk about it in every single movie we watch
- 19:37Speaker 1: when it comes up. I hated it. But but Ben
- 19:42Speaker 1: is so charming as the punk guy. I was like,
- 19:45Speaker 1: all in, yeah, you're right, I do need to loose
- 19:48Speaker 1: it up, you know, as he's talking about fun. You
- 19:50Speaker 1: know I personally have a problem with fun, right, So
- 19:53Speaker 1: sure he was speaking to me in a in a sense.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Well look at one point he's like, you're all about
- 19:59Speaker 1: the rules. Husband just is like finally laughing to him,
- 20:02Speaker 1: because I am a rules girl. I am like, if
- 20:05Speaker 1: this then that these things must be in place for
- 20:07Speaker 1: the following things to happen. And it spoke to me
- 20:12Speaker 1: that said. I didn't find a grating again because I
- 20:15Speaker 1: thought you're right. Ben was so charming in his delivery,
- 20:19Speaker 1: and part of me is like, can we flip the
- 20:26Speaker 1: script because the person, the person who has to mellow
- 20:30Speaker 1: out was Monica here like she was the one, but
- 20:34Speaker 1: he does acknowledge later on that they both have their
- 20:38Speaker 1: own strengths in this department. So yeah, it grates on
- 20:43Speaker 1: me too because I feel like people are like that
- 20:46Speaker 1: bitch right, and I'm like, that's not fair, that's not fair.
- 20:49Speaker 1: She's had to play by the rules the whole time.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Listen to tailor ships the man right exactly exactly? Can
- 20:56Speaker 1: somebody explain the ending to me? Are they human now, like,
- 21:00Speaker 1: do they live on earth? This is what I don't understand,
- 21:04Speaker 1: because these people were like magically appearing in and out
- 21:08Speaker 1: of places, right And at first I was like, oh, no,
- 21:12Speaker 1: one can see them? Yes, same for a long time,
- 21:15Speaker 1: I was like, nobody can see them, Okay, that makes sense.
- 21:18Speaker 1: And then the guy at the Christmas tree lot sees them, yeah,
- 21:22Speaker 1: and wants to take their picture under the mistletoe, and
- 21:24Speaker 1: so on and so forth. And then there's another instant
- 21:27Speaker 1: as well, and I was like, wait, okay, people can
- 21:30Speaker 1: see them. So are these angels that are living alone
- 21:32Speaker 1: amongst humans? Like they're appearing as human? Like, what is happening?
- 21:37Speaker 1: I don't understand that. I struggled with too, Like when
- 21:41Speaker 1: they disappear in front of the Christmas tree eye and
- 21:43Speaker 1: he like, oh, it's like, oh where'd you go? What?
- 21:46Speaker 1: They literally disappeared before your eyes. The details this goes
- 21:50Speaker 1: back to us not being any fun. The details of
- 21:53Speaker 1: how the angels exist among the humans are unclear. And
- 21:56Speaker 1: then at the end, Gabriel's like, you're being promoted to
- 21:59Speaker 1: a life of love? What does that mean? He's fingers.
- 22:03Speaker 1: They're in all white, but they experienced their first kiss,
- 22:06Speaker 1: which we forgot to talk about. It's confusing to me.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Was there a scene that was cut out that perhaps
- 22:12Speaker 1: explains it better? Or am I just demanding too many
- 22:15Speaker 1: details from a movie about matchmaking angels? Yeah, exactly, exactly.
- 22:20Speaker 1: Sometimes we just have to go all right. I accept
- 22:23Speaker 1: it for what it is, right. I think you're right.
- 22:26Speaker 1: Let's talk about that scene. Were their first kiss with
- 22:29Speaker 1: the eyes open? Yeah? I mean it was like they
- 22:34Speaker 1: were like testing it a little bit, right. I mean,
- 22:36Speaker 1: if you've gotten nearly six hundred years without a kiss,
- 22:38Speaker 1: maybe you're like a little nervous. Agree. Agree? I thought
- 22:42Speaker 1: I thought their kiss was nice. I mean, it's no
- 22:44Speaker 1: Warren Christy. Now I'm glad that they He's like, should
- 22:47Speaker 1: we do that again? Oh yeah, oh yeah, it definitely
- 22:51Speaker 1: needed a do over for sure. Very cute, very very cute.
- 22:56Speaker 1: Can we talk about the flash mob? I'm not gonna
- 23:00Speaker 1: I'm not going to I'm not going to ruin it
- 23:02Speaker 1: for you. I'm just surprised because I literally wrote in
- 23:05Speaker 1: my notes, the flash mob? Is that your biggest nightmare,
- 23:08Speaker 1: that that erupts around you? Oh no, I don't care
- 23:12Speaker 1: if it's happening around me. I don't want to be
- 23:14Speaker 1: pulled into it. I don't want to be mosh pitted
- 23:17Speaker 1: into That's my point. It rose up and they were
- 23:19Speaker 1: in the middle of it. I mean, poor Michael. That
- 23:22Speaker 1: scene with Michael is my worst nightmare. You and I
- 23:25Speaker 1: have been adjacent to a mob, A mob, a mob scene,
- 23:28Speaker 1: a flash mob right in San Diego. You were there
- 23:33Speaker 1: at that time, right. I don't even know what you're
- 23:35Speaker 1: talking about. At blog her eleven when we met, there
- 23:37Speaker 1: was a flash mob at like lunch that day. Oh gosh, wow,
- 23:42Speaker 1: I've erased that from my memory. Okay. I mean, well,
- 23:44Speaker 1: that's the thing though, is like flash moobs have kind
- 23:46Speaker 1: of fallen out of the zio. It's very dated. Yeah,
- 23:50Speaker 1: but I guess when you're six hundred years old, maybe
- 23:52Speaker 1: time has a different meaning. True, true, ten years recent? Sorry,
- 23:57Speaker 1: go ahead. My question is this, though, the flash mob
- 24:00Speaker 1: is like a pre organized, choreographed dance, right. I don't
- 24:05Speaker 1: think normal people just jump in on it, unless it's
- 24:08Speaker 1: like line dancing, which maybe people did know, or the
- 24:11Speaker 1: macarena or something like that. Yes, correct, which I think
- 24:16Speaker 1: is demonstrated in the fact that Megan and Ben do
- 24:19Speaker 1: what I can't even describe as dancing now, I can't
- 24:22Speaker 1: dance no shade for me, but they're just kind of like,
- 24:25Speaker 1: I don't know, they're just kind of jumping and flailing
- 24:28Speaker 1: their arms around. Look, I thought it was damn delightful.
- 24:31Speaker 1: It when this scene ends and everybody has dispersed and
- 24:35Speaker 1: they're just still there like dancing. Totally reminded me of
- 24:39Speaker 1: a time where my husband and I went to the
- 24:42Speaker 1: House of Blues and we saw a cover band and
- 24:45Speaker 1: everybody's on We're all on the dance floor dance in
- 24:48Speaker 1: to this cover band. It was playing Jesse's Girl, and
- 24:50Speaker 1: all of a sudden we look around and we're the
- 24:52Speaker 1: only two out theres. How funny you are. It was
- 24:56Speaker 1: twenty five years ago. That fun anymore, but it totally
- 25:02Speaker 1: reminded me of that scene, and it just thought it
- 25:05Speaker 1: brought so much joy to me. I just thought it
- 25:07Speaker 1: was very funny. I'm laughing to myself as you say,
- 25:10Speaker 1: not that fun anymore, because I was as I was
- 25:12Speaker 1: watching this movie with my husband last night, I turned
- 25:14Speaker 1: up and I go, do you like my new glasses?
- 25:17Speaker 1: Do you like my readers?
- 25:21Speaker 2: I needed an extra pair so I could keep one
- 25:24Speaker 2: in every corner of the hilarious That's Romance twenty years later.
- 25:33Speaker 1: Oh, this brings up a really good point. This brings
- 25:36Speaker 1: up a really good point back to the movie. So
- 25:40Speaker 1: Ben is built on making I'm sorry, Ben is wants
- 25:45Speaker 1: to make these relationships built on like fun, right, And
- 25:48Speaker 1: it made me think about it. It really made me
- 25:51Speaker 1: think about it because like after like the romance has
- 25:55Speaker 1: kind of died, like the attraction like if but if
- 25:58Speaker 1: you are in a relationship built on common interest and
- 26:02Speaker 1: fun like that is a solid relationship. Yes, you genuinely
- 26:06Speaker 1: need to enjoy being around each other exactly. The other
- 26:11Speaker 1: thing that made me think is a lot of the
- 26:14Speaker 1: relationships that Michael set up. My undertanding is they were
- 26:17Speaker 1: not forever relationships, right they ended? Am I remembering that correctly?
- 26:22Speaker 1: That's correct? And I was thinking that's really interesting because
- 26:26Speaker 1: as a person who's been married for twenty years, if
- 26:30Speaker 1: I were to get divorced tomorrow, would you be like, oh,
- 26:33Speaker 1: her marriage failed, or would you be like, oh, she
- 26:36Speaker 1: had a twenty year relationship, like she raised a family, right,
- 26:40Speaker 1: Like are we looking at things? Does something have to
- 26:43Speaker 1: last forever for it to be valuable and meaningful? Right? Exactly?
- 26:47Speaker 1: It would just have been like the right thing at
- 26:49Speaker 1: that time. I did think about that. This was a real,
- 26:53Speaker 1: real thinker. I guess it was one last little wish.
- 26:57Speaker 1: I mean, it wouldn't be me if I did and
- 27:00Speaker 1: mention it. I do want to say most of our
- 27:03Speaker 1: classic Hallmark tropes in this movie do appear in the
- 27:06Speaker 1: strategies used to connect our two souls, which I thought
- 27:08Speaker 1: was a nice, fun little twist. However, we do have
- 27:11Speaker 1: a misunderstanding trope check womp yep, yeah, which they cleared
- 27:17Speaker 1: up quickly, but you know, I was like, come on,
- 27:20Speaker 1: stick around for ten extra seconds. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, I'm
- 27:24Speaker 1: telling you me, if I overheard somebody, I wouldn't just
- 27:27Speaker 1: like walk away. I'm bar Yeah, I want to hear
- 27:31Speaker 1: the whole conversation at least exactly. Well, are you ready
- 27:35Speaker 1: to talk to you? See that? I am. Let's hear it. Okay,
- 27:38Speaker 1: Well I have a I'm gonna save my my big
- 27:41Speaker 1: one for a second. I really only have one. Okay,
- 27:44Speaker 1: so let me hear yours. It's Benjamin Ayer's hair. Okay,
- 27:49Speaker 1: now it's not a negative. Best hair in the bits. Okay.
- 27:52Speaker 1: My husband was watching this movie with me, and my
- 27:54Speaker 1: husband has an eye for good hair. Like you know,
- 27:58Speaker 1: we have our thing. He has an eye for hair.
- 28:02Speaker 1: So as we're watching, when they would jump from place
- 28:05Speaker 1: to place, heaven to earth or within earthly locations, his
- 28:09Speaker 1: hair would often change because they were He's like, oh,
- 28:13Speaker 1: his hair's got a lot shorter. Oh his hair got
- 28:14Speaker 1: a lot longer. Oh his hair's curlier than it was
- 28:16Speaker 1: on that scene. Because obviously there are different locations that
- 28:19Speaker 1: are filmed on different days. But right he was like,
- 28:21Speaker 1: oh his hair changed again. He was on hair alert.
- 28:24Speaker 1: I didn't notice one time until I went back and looked,
- 28:28Speaker 1: but my husband was on hair patrol. You know, it's
- 28:30Speaker 1: so funny that you say that, because if you follow
- 28:34Speaker 1: Vinjamin Air's Instagram, often he'll mention his hair like it's
- 28:40Speaker 1: very curly and sometimes it's like curly and wild, and
- 28:42Speaker 1: he'll be like, the hair is doing hair today. Yeah,
- 28:46Speaker 1: the hair is hairing. Uh huh yeah. So like it's
- 28:49Speaker 1: so funny. Maybe your husband needs to follow him on
- 28:51Speaker 1: Instagram and like, my husband's not on Instagram. You're right,
- 28:55Speaker 1: I forgot, okay, whatever. Anyway, I love Ben's hair. I
- 28:59Speaker 1: thought he like a real sharp in this entire movie,
- 29:03Speaker 1: I do looked great. One hundred percent agree with you.
- 29:05Speaker 1: There is zero shade being thrown at Ben's hair just
- 29:08Speaker 1: one of those true did you see that moment? My
- 29:11Speaker 1: digit see that are one? The footloose joke I thought
- 29:15Speaker 1: was so good. I did the show how do you?
- 29:20Speaker 1: How do you? Because yeah, what is this footloose? I died,
- 29:23Speaker 1: and then he had to explain it to her because
- 29:25Speaker 1: she didn't know what yes was. Just thought it was
- 29:28Speaker 1: great that it was so great, especially like his reaction
- 29:32Speaker 1: was like, how yeah, I thought it was so good.
- 29:36Speaker 1: The other thing is that they call their department in
- 29:39Speaker 1: the DCC, and you know the the DCC is Dallas
- 29:43Speaker 1: Cowboys Cheerleaders. I had to write it down because I
- 29:48Speaker 1: could not was like, what could it possibly stand for?
- 29:52Speaker 1: It was so funny to me, so so funny. And
- 29:55Speaker 1: my final dig you see that was a true did
- 29:58Speaker 1: you see that? As I was watching the movie, I
- 30:00Speaker 1: flipped out. Michael and Monica are somewhere they're trying to
- 30:04Speaker 1: match make. They're like at a market or craft fair,
- 30:07Speaker 1: I don't remember. And what do I see in the
- 30:09Speaker 1: on a display and the background is a bunch of
- 30:13Speaker 1: Romance University sweatshirts, and I to that, I applaud you. Yes,
- 30:18Speaker 1: that's so fun I thought that was so amazing. I
- 30:22Speaker 1: hope that other people noticed it as well, because you know,
- 30:25Speaker 1: Ben is so he's a champion for his Romance University brand,
- 30:30Speaker 1: and I like their mission over there. I just thought
- 30:33Speaker 1: it was so fun and clever to see it in
- 30:35Speaker 1: the background of this movie. I think the hardcore airs
- 30:37Speaker 1: heads definitely noticed airs heads. Yes, you're right, you're right.
- 30:42Speaker 1: Before we get to our rating, where are we ranking
- 30:47Speaker 1: this on the smoochimeter smoa meter? What was the what
- 30:53Speaker 1: was the range? I forget well, the pulled out of
- 30:56Speaker 1: a hat yesterday. I mean I said ten out of ten,
- 30:58Speaker 1: flaming lips, I give it, yeah, solid seven. That's exactly
- 31:03Speaker 1: what I was gonna say. Hey, I love so I
- 31:06Speaker 1: love this new little, you know, segment of our We
- 31:11Speaker 1: need to create the image. We need to get it
- 31:13Speaker 1: up on Instagram. We got to. We got to, Yeah
