- 0:06looking to gain more clients, create more impact and more
- 0:09revenue in your business, TuneIn to amplify your marketing
- 0:13message with Christine Campbell Rappin.
- 0:15Every week, we're going to take you through how to build an
- 0:17audience of buyers mastering your marketing message making
- 0:21offers. One of the biggest challenges
- 0:24every single human on the planet faces and struggles with is
- 0:29consistency. So often the issue of why we
- 0:33don't have the business we want is not a knowledge gap that
- 0:37we're not applying what we know consistently well.
- 0:41My friends, if you are struggling with that, I'm the
- 0:44problem. It's me.
- 0:45When it comes to consistency. This episode is for you.
- 0:47Welcome back everybody to amplify your marketing message.
- 0:50I am your host, Christine Campbell Rappin, and I am here
- 0:53to help you breakthrough the disconnect between I want to do
- 0:59this predictably and I actually do follow through.
- 1:03So let's talk about the first elephant in the room.
- 1:07The truth is, is that consistency, first and foremost
- 1:12is a choice. And I know that that's not going
- 1:15to be really popular. And right now you might be
- 1:17thinking, oh, I gotta hang up. I can't listen this episode.
- 1:20Well, don't do that. Hold on to your knickers for a
- 1:25second. What I mean is that consistency
- 1:28is a choice to really connect to your vision.
- 1:33The vision is the key to actually living consistently.
- 1:39And I think so often we don't have a big enough vision.
- 1:44And I see that with people who come to work with us.
- 1:47I know I've had moments in my own business journey where I've
- 1:50stood on a crossroad and it's like Peter Pan, what do I want
- 1:53to do when I grow up? So if it's you, I see you.
- 1:57But a big vision is important because it has to be the thing
- 2:02that challenges you to follow through on who you said you
- 2:05wanted to be. To really owning the identity of
- 2:09somebody who follows through, stays in trust, and honors their
- 2:13own personal commitments. Because consistency is a
- 2:16personal commitment. It's not something that you get
- 2:20put upon. It's something, again, you
- 2:23choose to do. So I want to go back to vision.
- 2:27What I tell my clients is that the vision has to be so big and
- 2:32so meaningful to you that it pulls you past convenience
- 2:37factor. And that's why so many people
- 2:40struggle with consistency because their vision isn't
- 2:42meaningful enough to manage through tough moments, hard
- 2:48days, setbacks and adversity. And so one of the very first
- 2:54things that I take every client through that joins into our
- 2:58programming and is there to help and build client growth comes
- 3:02down to a visualize your future document.
- 3:04If you're curious about this document, send me an e-mail,
- 3:07hello at christinecampbellraven.com and
- 3:09say I want to know this Visualize your Future document.
- 3:12I'll give you a sneak peek for what it's like to be a client
- 3:14with us. But in this document, it asks 10
- 3:18very compelling personal questions.
- 3:20What do you want your life to look like?
- 3:23What does it embody? What does it feel like?
- 3:25What do you hope for? What does it include?
- 3:27What does it not include? Because you have to paint this
- 3:31picture that you think, wow, that's awesome.
- 3:34I want that. And these 10 questions that I
- 3:38take my clients through in this document, in this vision piece
- 3:42is actually something very personal to me 10 years ago.
- 3:45Plus I had my life detonated. And in that moment, I was living
- 3:52in the world of corporate. I was what I thought and had
- 3:55been in my performance reviews, a top performer.
- 3:58And I thought that being a top performer would, to a high
- 4:02degree, ensure job stability. But if you're reading the
- 4:06headlines, in 10 years, not much has changed.
- 4:08Job stability is an illusion unless you are choosing to
- 4:12become an entrepreneur and you choose through consistency to
- 4:17build your own stability and to build your own paycheck and to
- 4:21decide the size of it, the frequency of it, and really live
- 4:24this life that feels like what I call oxygen.
- 4:27But I was standing on the crossroads of a corporate
- 4:30career, which I thought was just epic, on the path that I would
- 4:32just continue on until I ran into HR and my boss in a place
- 4:36they should not have been unless they were there to dramatically
- 4:41change my life. And dramatically change my life
- 4:43they did. They informed me, much to my
- 4:47surprise, that my services were no longer needed.
- 4:50And I rallied, railed, and really had a bit of meltdown,
- 4:58truthfully, because I couldn't see the inputs equaling the
- 5:04outputs. You know, the performance
- 5:05reviews were there. The feedback had been great.
- 5:07It was well liked by my clients. I created great results for the
- 5:10territory. I've built millions of dollars
- 5:12of revenue for this company in the day I was out the door and
- 5:18it took the wing wind out of my sails.
- 5:22I think perhaps you can relate to a moment in your own life, or
- 5:25that's what happened to you. But in that moment, I started to
- 5:29realize that while the ship had sailed, that job stability in
- 5:34that organization was no longer in the cards.
- 5:37I had to play the cards I was dealt.
- 5:39And I thought to myself, what do I want to be next?
- 5:44And when your identity is very tied to your job title and to
- 5:50your career, it can be a real untethering.
- 5:53And for me, it was absolutely that.
- 5:56And I asked myself and wrote down these 10 questions because
- 6:02I was no longer a job title, I was no longer my salary band, I
- 6:06was no longer a leader of people formally and all the things that
- 6:11I thought gave me value in the marketplace.
- 6:13And I felt compelled to show up every day in my business and in
- 6:16my career to do excellent work had shifted.
- 6:22And it was through this vision piece that I got really clear of
- 6:29what I wanted to create. I couldn't name it.
- 6:31And here's how I want you to think about this.
- 6:33A beautiful gift and opportunity will not come in the shape,
- 6:37form, timeline that you anticipate.
- 6:40You will not come with a Robin or a bow.
- 6:43And you still need to be able to decide to move.
- 6:47Fast forward a couple of years and I realized my path was an
- 6:52entrepreneurial one because that really gave me the freedom to
- 6:56create my own predictability. And that's what I was in the
- 6:59end, really desiring. And so I created this compelling
- 7:04vision. What will it look like to run my
- 7:07own business? What did I want it to be?
- 7:09What did I envision, who I would serve?
- 7:11And all these things that really were very fuzzy at the time, but
- 7:17I was clear on how it would feel and what I was non-negotiable
- 7:22around. And I just said, I'll put it out
- 7:27there and trust that opportunity is going to work its way towards
- 7:32me because I was in movement and a random conversation through a
- 7:40platform called LinkedIn brought that opportunity to me.
- 7:44Somebody in my network that hadn't spoken to in 10 years had
- 7:48reached out to me to say when we last met, you always struck me
- 7:54as being very entrepreneurial. And I have a wild idea that you
- 7:58probably didn't get out of bed to talk about today, but I think
- 8:00could be something that would intrigue you, you would be great
- 8:03at, and it could create you additional income.
- 8:05Would you be open to a conversation?
- 8:07And I was curious and I wanted the things that it could offer.
- 8:13And so I had a conversation and that was a spark on this journey
- 8:19that required I be disciplined. That journey evolved into a very
- 8:25much bigger story that was just a stepping stone.
- 8:29But eventually I built a vision using these 10 questions, which
- 8:33is why I give it to every client I serve.
- 8:36That says you have to have a vision that is going to move you
- 8:41forward well past the point of convenience because having what
- 8:46you want, the result, and the result is a gap between your
- 8:51current reality and the other side.
- 8:53You have to have a way to bridge it.
- 8:56And the way you bridge this gap is disciplined action.
- 9:01So I want to give you a couple of tips around building this
- 9:04vision, because this vision piece is the key.
- 9:09If your vision is weak, if your vision is somebody elses, you
- 9:12will quit. And what it's saying is you're
- 9:15quitting on something that isn't pulling you past convenience.
- 9:20And so often I say to people when they're exploring our
- 9:23services, especially if they want to become a private client,
- 9:25and I only take 10 private clients a year, I would say you
- 9:28have to convince me that your vision is so big, so compelling,
- 9:33that you won't quit when it's challenging, that you won't quit
- 9:36when it's inconvenient, that you won't quit when a momentary
- 9:40disruption, disappointment, or heartbreak takes the wind out of
- 9:44your sails. And make those moments happen
- 9:46because they will. It's OK to phone me and say I
- 9:49have the wind taken out of me. And I'm here as your mentor to
- 9:53help you remind you of the vision, remind you of the
- 9:56commitment and that connection to what will pull you and get
- 10:01you back into motion. So if that's fair, might keeps,
- 10:04I want to take you through this piece.
- 10:06The first piece of this puzzle with vision is that it has to be
- 10:10yours. And I mean, that seems like it's
- 10:13so basic, but I gotta tell you, most people live somebody else's
- 10:17life. You're living the expectations
- 10:19of your parents. You're living the expectations
- 10:21of your partner. You're living the expectations
- 10:23of your boss. You're living the expectations
- 10:25of your bestie. You're living the expectations
- 10:28of so many past voices that have shaped who you are into this
- 10:33moment. Well, I want to give you a
- 10:35permission slip. I want you to make this vision
- 10:40your own and what I want you to do is you step into this is
- 10:44really get clear to the want. Everything in motion, everything
- 10:49in momentum comes down to drive desire and that is distilled
- 10:54into want. So what is the life you want?
- 10:58Not just the goal, but the lived experience of the outcome.
- 11:03I want you to paint it in Technicolor.
- 11:06What does it feel like? What are you doing?
- 11:08Who's with you? I want you to walk through this
- 11:11lived experience over and over and over again, so much that
- 11:17this vision seems as tangible to you as you're lived current
- 11:21reality. Because here's the kicker of
- 11:24science. Your brain doesn't know the
- 11:25difference between what is real and what you are imagining.
- 11:29And so we're going to gamify our own science, their own biology,
- 11:32and say, see the alternate where I can have what I want.
- 11:38And I think what's so fascinating and what the work I
- 11:40do is a business mentor is so often I watch the moment of
- 11:43breakthrough in this piece where finally the walls come down,
- 11:48finally the armor is shed, and there's this very vulnerable
- 11:52human in front of me. And who's like, who am I to
- 11:55dream so big? Who am I to want what I want?
- 12:00And it is my honor, it is my privilege to say, let me
- 12:05introduce you to you. You get to have a vision you
- 12:11pursue, and consistency gets a whole heck of a lot easier when
- 12:16you be true to yourself and when you prioritize your own vision.
- 12:23And I know that seems like there's a wild idea.
- 12:25And trust me, I get a lot of controversy, a lot of hate, a
- 12:28lot of people who don't buy into this.
- 12:31My clients do, and my clients are happier I do, and I have a
- 12:36life that feels like oxygen. So my invitation for you is
- 12:41disconnect your own bias and invite yourself to explore your
- 12:47own vision. And I want you to constantly
- 12:50stay in this loop of reconnecting to what it is you
- 12:55want. And some keep keep short ways
- 12:59that we do that are writing ourselves letters, hearing our
- 13:02vision, talked to us in our own voice.
- 13:05And really using this document, this 10 question document, I
- 13:08guide my clients to lean into and to revisit to be sure that
- 13:14they're Northstar, they're guiding principle and the whole
- 13:17purpose of their lives is clear and compelling.
- 13:22And here's the thing, I also want to give you another
- 13:24permission slip free pass here. You get to do you Boo.
- 13:29You need to really listen to what you want.
- 13:32And I have this debate quite heated often with my bestie
- 13:36who's like, people don't know what they want.
- 13:38And I'm like, yes they do and I will die on that cross.
- 13:42She's tried to convince me for 50 years I'm wrong.
- 13:45Still not buying it? And here's why.
- 13:49You've known since you were little what you wanted.
- 13:53God gifted you a vision. You can see it.
- 13:55It was not a conference call. It was yours.
- 13:59And just for imagine for a moment, if you pursued what you
- 14:03wanted, maybe that is you fulfilling the purpose you're
- 14:08here on the planet to be. Because I think that's the goal.
- 14:13I actually think that's what life is really about.
- 14:15And so I want to invite you stream again and dream bigger
- 14:24because as big as you can dream, God dreams bigger for you,
- 14:29people around you dream bigger for you.
- 14:32And you don't even know in the tip of your finger your
- 14:35potential. It's so much bigger than you.
- 14:38And you're a miracle in and of itself.
- 14:41So step up to being able and willing to do miraculous things.
- 14:46Second piece of the puzzle is once you have this vision and
- 14:50you're tapping into the lived experience of it, I want you to
- 14:54start with one action, a daily habit, and think specifically
- 15:01about a daily habit that moves the needle.
- 15:04It takes you one step closer to the being, to the having, to the
- 15:09experience of that lived experience you casted in your
- 15:12mind. I think the simplest way to make
- 15:16this digestible is to follow the principle of Get Off 0.
- 15:21Sometimes the vision so big it scares us.
- 15:23We can't think about all the many steps between here and this
- 15:26utopia, here in this Unicorn living lived.
- 15:30Awesome audacious goal. You don't have to.
- 15:36What you need to do is consistently choose to get off 0
- 15:41and what I think is important is to make this non negotiable.
- 15:45When I first started building the business, I couldn't have
- 15:47even imagined where we'd be in Year 5.
- 15:50I never dreamt so big. Truthfully, I thought, who would
- 15:54even pay us? It was so weird when people kept
- 15:56saying, could you guide me to helping me find clients?
- 15:59I'm like, well, how come you don't know how to do that?
- 16:01And they're like, I just don't, I don't have your lived
- 16:04experience, Christine. I'll pay you to help me.
- 16:06And I was like, OK, weird. And eventually I had the courage
- 16:09to say yes. But when I started my first
- 16:12business, I built it one hour a day and that one hour of effort
- 16:17was focused on non negotiable income producing activities, was
- 16:24making the calls, it was building the relationships, it
- 16:26was offering and inviting people to purchase.
- 16:29And it's still as simple as that today.
- 16:33This has to be something that you schedule because what you
- 16:37schedule gets done. Your schedule reflects your
- 16:41priorities. If your commitment to living
- 16:44your dreams, your dreams is not in the calendar, you are living
- 16:49somebody else's life. And I get there's times in your
- 16:52lives when your priorities are impacted by others around you.
- 16:56That could be a boss, it could be your children, it could be
- 16:58your family commitments, it could be your faith, it could be
- 17:00your community, could be a million things.
- 17:02But I want you to audit right now.
- 17:04And this could be a little uncomfortable, so take a deep
- 17:07breath, take it with me. Breathe in, breathe out.
- 17:12Are you a priority on your calendar?
- 17:14And I will be honest because I just asked you to be honest,
- 17:18that when I look at my calendar, my business is a huge priority
- 17:23when I'm available, very clearly marked out, how many clients we
- 17:27serve, very clearly in clapped out.
- 17:29But what has not been a priority is my own health.
- 17:34And I saw somebody else's calendar recently and it brought
- 17:37this gap to my attention because my husband has been nagging me
- 17:41for a while that said you should take lunch, not at your desk.
- 17:46Like you're not an employee in corporate.
- 17:47You should take lunch. You should move your body
- 17:49midday. I'm thinking that would be a
- 17:51great way to improve your health.
- 17:53But you say it's a priority, but it's not scheduled.
- 17:56And so I made the commitment to schedule midday breaks.
- 18:00I scheduled my own priority of myself in my calendar and I want
- 18:06you to do this the same because if your vision is not a
- 18:09priority, it won't move the needle.
- 18:12It makes consistency a figment of fantasy and never going to
- 18:16happen. But if you say it's compelling,
- 18:19this vision, it's non-negotiable and I'll stack my habits to move
- 18:24the needle. It's never a question of if it
- 18:27will happen. It only becomes a question of
- 18:30when. And we don't control the when we
- 18:34can influence yet, however. So the third thing I want you to
- 18:39do is also to recognize that that journey you're taking to
- 18:43that lived utopia, to that grand compelling life you want, that
- 18:47makes showing up for yourself non-negotiable, is that you have
- 18:51to gamify this. And what I like is reminders,
- 18:55milestones, and rewards. I teach my clients this.
- 18:59It's a fundamental part of life. In our client work, we set
- 19:05reminders. So I just said I scheduled my
- 19:07lunch hours. We have reminders on our phone,
- 19:10which is make the phone calls, report into our numbers, do the
- 19:15things that move the needle. And there are great apps in the
- 19:19world that will help you do this today.
- 19:21And there's also old school approaches too.
- 19:23But I don't care how you do it. Don't make the how the reason
- 19:26you don't because how honestly will kill more dreams.
- 19:29Ask and find a system that works for you, but commit to doing the
- 19:33system. And when you're in that process,
- 19:36I think there's four things to do.
- 19:38First off, do it. Second thing, reflect.
- 19:42I want you to 3rd, learn from the lived experience.
- 19:46And I want you to reward yourself and I want you to
- 19:49reward yourself immediately. So one of the exercises, again,
- 19:52I take all of my clients through is building a rewards list.
- 19:57You might want to do this as Hallmark here to this episode,
- 20:00but I asked them to write down 50 things.
- 20:02Usually we change this up pretty frequently, but I want to do 50
- 20:05things that you'll do as a reward.
- 20:07And then I'm asking every week, where are you making progress in
- 20:11following through on your commitment?
- 20:13I eat. Where are you consistent?
- 20:15What are you rewarding yourself with?
- 20:17And I want to see a picture of it.
- 20:18So the coolest bit of being a business mentor with clients all
- 20:21over the world, all different ages, all different cultures, is
- 20:24I get all kinds of really fun photos of here's us winning,
- 20:28here's us enjoying a reward. And if you follow me on social
- 20:32media, on all channels, it's Christine Campbell. wrapping.com
- 20:35is my web. You'll find all the channel
- 20:37links on it, but just find me at Christine Campbell.
- 20:40What you will see is that I always celebrate new clients
- 20:46with a glass of champagne. It's my immediate reward.
- 20:49I do three things the moment a client contract comes into my
- 20:52inbox and that's when a client is signed, guys, Not just when
- 20:56you get a verbal yes, but when a client contract is signed.
- 20:59We immediately write it up on our board.
- 21:01We immediately move somebody from an open offer to A1
- 21:04project. And I dance around my office.
- 21:08I'm on the other side of the desk than the one you see here.
- 21:11And then I text a message to my husband.
- 21:14Champagne needs to be chilled and I that day take a picture
- 21:18and post on social media the reward for a new beginning and I
- 21:24want you to think about your rewards is personal.
- 21:29They can be everything from small things like dance around
- 21:32your office to big things like the trip of a lifetime.
- 21:35Again, let's say the same thing I said earlier, Boo, You do you.
- 21:38But I want you to think about reminders, milestones, progress,
- 21:43way more than perfection is important here and the rewards
- 21:46for it. Because when you can approach a
- 21:49really big vision that moves you and you support it with daily
- 21:53habits and markers of progress, you create yourself a winning
- 21:58formula. And I want more people to be
- 22:02winning with their lives. I mean, ultimately I'm playing
- 22:05in the lane of business, yes. But what matters most to me is
- 22:08that you have a life that feels like oxygen.
- 22:10And if your vision is said, is borrowed or it's weak, it won't
- 22:17hold water. But when it's the other end of
- 22:20the spectrum, when it's vivid and uniquely yours, it feels
- 22:24compelling. It's like oxygen and you're
- 22:26required to take your next breath.
- 22:29It means that you will always show up for yourself, even in
- 22:33the hard moments and in the hard days.
- 22:35And I think if you are like any other human on the planet, you
- 22:37shouldn't be doing this solo, which is why hiring a mentor.
- 22:41And for me, I pay for that and I invite my clients, I invite you
- 22:46to consider hiring me as your mentor makes all the difference
- 22:49in the world. Because we have to applaud
- 22:52ourselves. Consistency erodes doubt.
- 22:58And the longer that you simply say it's a habit I can't win,
- 23:04the more it will hold you back. So let me ask you this final
- 23:10question in today's episode. What habit can you take today
- 23:16that moves you to the thing you most want in life?
- 23:21And what if today you actually showed up for yourself and made
- 23:24that step? If you take that gauntlet which
- 23:28I've just thrown at you, I want you to message me any social
- 23:31media platform or again my e-mail
- 23:33hello@christinecampbellwrapping.com. I want you to tell me.
- 23:36I'll bear witness for you, and I will celebrate you.
- 23:44Consistency is a choice, and do you have the power capability to
- 23:49follow through on the things that matter to you?
- 23:52So let's go. It's go time.
- 23:59That's a wrap on another amazing episode of Amplify Your
