- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: any body but killing in the garbage in the bummer.
- 0:02[SPEAKER_00]: If you play from around the little box, slow down, you're always going to be favorite.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome back.
- 0:07[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome back.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome back.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_01]: This is Paul's illustrator, full book club, your weekly show here on Sports Illustrated.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_01]: Today, it's time to go around the world.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_01]: I'm at a standard meeting.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_01]: And as always, alongside me, to great, to top player of the Beacon in the game, let's go see it.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_01]: Good to be here, man.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_01]: How are we?
- 0:26[SPEAKER_01]: We're good.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, I'm good, man.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_02]: I'm good.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_02]: Ballon Dor is never using my favorite topic though.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not going to lie.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not a huge fan of Ballon, but just for you, I'm going to do it.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_01]: Ooh, thank you.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not the other side.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_01]: One of the biggest fan of the Ballon Dor probably in the world.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, really?
- 0:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, thank you, all right.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_00]: I was at you going to see on the opposite of the other side.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_00]: I loved the Ballon Dor ever since I was young.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_00]: I was just fascinated by it and I'm a big fan of it.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_01]: The Balon tour guys, first of all, likes, subscribe, stay with us, let us know before we start the talking, who is going to win the Balon during 2020, 6 of course guys, we have some names.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_01]: What are your thoughts, first of all, liais in how the award has changed throughout the last decade?
- 1:10[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you have to, I think if the go back the last 25 years, how the ball and the rest change, this went from an award that almost went hand in hand with World Player of the Year, and at that time it was probably considered the less luxurious award, then the World Player of the Year ceased to really become a thing.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_02]: And Balon Dora became the main conversation.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_02]: And I think it really, really rose an importance and how we talk about it because of Christianity and Aldo and Messi, because I felt like that was a big player in the debate between the two of them.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_02]: We're all the one particular really made it a goal of his to be lifting that every single award Whereas in the past I think it was something that if you wanted at the end of the year fine But it wasn't as much a discussion and now it's grown to such a beast that you have clubs and players literally going on interviews and going on stations and on TV
- 1:56[SPEAKER_02]: campaigning themselves almost like a presidential election you have in the U.S. presidential nominees coming out saying this is why I should do the president now you got footballer saying this is why I should win the ball on door it's it's grown into such a beast a monster of a discussion that I almost feel now
- 2:14[SPEAKER_02]: It becomes actually bigger than talking about the games.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_02]: All in everyone what's to do is win the ball on door and as much as I don't like the award, I think it's become overstated.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_02]: I don't like the fact that now it almost becomes your entire legacy if you win it or if you don't.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_02]: Now it's impossible to not talk about it because the players themselves put so much stock into it.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, probably there was a shift with the Gen Z from the team towards the athletes.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_01]: So that's why now the ball under way, it's way more important.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_01]: Look, why do you love the ball under so much?
- 2:47[SPEAKER_00]: Mine is a stupid reason, really.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_00]: I remember when I was younger, I had a book on the Balondor.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_00]: I was ill from school one day.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_00]: And I just started reading for it.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_00]: And then I changed myself to memorize every Balondor when I was like, that's what I did.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_00]: And I became fascinated with it.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_00]: I started to look at the history of it, how it changed over time, how the...
- 3:08[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to say like I was perceived at the time but how a journalist perceived who should be the winner and I sort of understood it's always been a narrative based award based on the competitions in that each calendar year, whether that be the European Cup, back in the day, World Cup, Euros, how it shifted over time because I think it has changed.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: But I also is very polarizing the ballando like some people very much like it like myself Some people are very much tired of the discussions around the ballando I'm a lot of people in social media especially of kind of just look at this top 30 and not really cared because I think there's definitely some controversial inclusions in there Some people just can't really be bothered almost Formulate any argument on why a certain player should win it doesn't really matter in their eyes, but for me it's always been like
- 3:50[SPEAKER_00]: such a prestigious award for an individual football.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_00]: I can totally understand why Lameeniamel and Bapay are pushing this narrative that they should win it.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_00]: Because in their eyes, this is big.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: And for football, it is big.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_00]: Like let's just say, as it is to be crowned as the best play in the world, winning the ball on door, beautiful looking trophy, by the way.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_00]: Incredible series.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_00]: The PR around it, the celebration.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_00]: It's huge.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_00]: Like, it varies.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_00]: I mean a lot to these guys.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think so much to them.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_02]: I just don't think it should.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_02]: And a lot of footballer, so it's ironic for me to say that, I guess.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_02]: But this idea that the ball on door is the be all end on.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_02]: I can't finish my career without it.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_02]: And for me, it makes the flaws of the sport in my eyes, because we've seen so many brilliant players fail to win the ball and door for whatever reason.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_02]: Their best year came in a year where their team didn't have the best success or they've happened to be in the same season that another player was just at the absolute peak of his powers.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_02]: We've seen so many all-time great footballers not win the ball and door.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_02]: And now, because 20 years later, a worse player won it, we now compare the two, this guy has a ball and door in this guy doesn't, and at the end of the day,
- 4:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, it's the biggest individual award, but I just think it's become so cheap with the change in criteria every single season, the lack of consistency, the names that get nominated for it at times, I've really grown to, I'm so tired of it, I get bored of the talk about it, I get bored of the narrative, and I actually think the campaigning now from players and clubs, this is why I should've been the bell and door.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_02]: It's actually really starting to tire me out.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_02]: It's worth it.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_00]: I also think there's a negative connotation on how clubs are perceived.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_00]: I'm filled with a perceived that play for different clubs, because I feel like with the ball on door, if you play for a round, what you do to Barcelona, you're always going to be favorite.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: Regardless of the club you play for you.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_01]: We were talking yesterday.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like we're going to talk about who should be the winner right, but let's say you play for Manchester City and you had the best season.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_00]: I'll be honest, I think I'm not saying hard in should have won the ball on door necessarily in 2023 because of Messi's World Cup, but I definitely think the fact that he won the treble for a city down plays, I think had he won that treble for our Madrid.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_00]: I think he could have easily had a better chance of winning that ball on door, just because of the club.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_02]: in motion almost, in question, the next year, Roderie Bittvini, even though Vinnie won the championship, you know, and that's my question.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_00]: You saw one of the euros.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_02]: But you see, this is my, this is my, this is my, this is my question.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_02]: It's my question, but then sometimes it doesn't matter, right?
- 6:14[SPEAKER_02]: Because unless you want to in 2010, but so many players are better, and this is why the ball on door for me, it will never, and it'll never be the be on door for me.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_02]: I can respect the award and I will never break a footballer for dreaming of being one day crown.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_02]: And the eyes of his, not even his, this is, again, another thing I don't like about the on board.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_02]: it's the opinion of journalists, right?
- 6:33[SPEAKER_02]: We're not even talking about the best journalists in the world.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_02]: If you're the top journalists in your country, you get a say.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_02]: Like, at one point, I think the ball on door used to be the people who are prepared to use to be what captains and coaches of each actual team.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_02]: Now it's, well, not now, but like, now it's purely just the opinion of a bunch of journalists.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_02]: But it's worth it, float, even, even like, we always, who was a journalist to say, this is the
- 7:00[SPEAKER_00]: I agree, but let me then pose this question to you.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_00]: PFA player of the season, that's voted by players.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_00]: That can be flawed as well.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_00]: We've seen players.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_02]: These awards are flawed, but that's what I'm saying.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_00]: So there's no, I agree with you.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_00]: You can't rank the ball on door.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_00]: You can't rank players based on ball on doors because it's just opinions against each other.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_00]: I think there were some of the people in the audience.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_02]: It's an important award, but we don't treat it as like the be all end all.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_02]: Like this is a big discussion about it.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_02]: But overall, you win the PFA, it's a great award, but we don't have like,
- 7:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's a month, it's just for no global, like the bar on the floor, that's what I mean.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_02]: But at the same point, the point is, it's still relatively the same conversation of, it's a bunch of opinions from different people, right?
- 7:38[SPEAKER_01]: Guys, I know, you, you, you say you don't love to talk about it and you are talking.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: I, you know, I, you know, I do the cause.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_02]: You guys asked me to talk about the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the
- 7:51[SPEAKER_02]: of the planets.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_01]: No, the bell of the wages.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_02]: The bell of the door winners.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_00]: When I was young, Luke, huh?
- 7:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, like, huh.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_02]: You can?
- 8:00[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, guys.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_02]: If I ask you a year, can you name it about the winner?
- 8:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_02]: Nineteen, seventy-one.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: Correct.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_02]: These are right, cause I actually want to create another.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_02]: So, what about nineteen, fifty-seven?
- 8:12[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, this is the fauna.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_02]: 90, 50 sub.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_02]: That's true.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, the second one.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, that's all.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_02]: We have an encyclopedia in front of us.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_02]: Hold on.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_02]: Let me get a few more.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_02]: Nineteen.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_02]: Eighty-three.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: What the name, man?
- 8:27[SPEAKER_02]: What the name?
- 8:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_02]: Nineteen.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_02]: Sixty-nine.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_00]: Johnny Rivera.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_02]: Correct?
- 8:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, wow.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_01]: Come back to the... Oh, sorry.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, we need a pause.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_02]: That's good.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_02]: That's good.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_02]: From one psycho-pedia to another.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, guys.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_01]: If you want to try to be like Luca, we have a little quiz on our website.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to leave you the link in our comments.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_01]: Try to test your knowledge on the ball on door.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_01]: Now, guys, who are the favorite to win the ball on door?
- 8:59[SPEAKER_01]: Because I have some names, of course.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_01]: Harry Kane, Kilian Bapek, Vichak Varskelia, Rodi, Laminiamal, Yonel Messi, and Mandem Belek, and a lot more you said Messi.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_01]: You know, let's talk about them, and then the floor is going to be yours, and you're going to tell me, who is going to be the Balondor according to you?
- 9:20[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to start from the guys who claimed this week, as you said, because Laminiamal say, oh, you know what?
- 9:28[SPEAKER_01]: We are...
- 9:30[SPEAKER_01]: There are two best play in the world.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_01]: It's me and Kilian Bapet.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_01]: I deserve it more because what I achieved as a team this season.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_01]: Kilian Bapet said, I'm the best play in the world.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I'm basically.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I said.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to start with Luca Luca.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_01]: What's going to be?
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: Is this my floor is yours now?
- 9:49[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_00]: Because my floor is yours is who I think's going to win.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_01]: So you don't want me to... No, you do an analysis now.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_01]: They've done, I'll leave you the floor.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_00]: When I say, the floor is yours, look up.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_00]: You go.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: I think neither of them should do an up.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_00]: nor a mbappe, nor your mouth.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_00]: I think this is the most open valendor we've had in quite a while, if I'm being completely honest.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_00]: I think when it comes to the valendor, it's a narrative based the world, how important you were in your club when in the big trophies.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: This year of course was a World Cup beer, so you look at the Champions League, which was won by Pier's team, you look at a World Cup, which was won by Spain.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_00]: I thought before the World Cup begun, we'd have a definitive winner come the end of the World Cup, but I think the World Cup made it more confusing,
- 10:32[SPEAKER_00]: in the less so pierced you went in the trampoline.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_00]: You got full cover of Scalia, was the best play in the trampoline, so for me, he had a better club season than a Den Ballet for PSG, for example.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_00]: If we look at the World Cup, Spain won it, Roger had a great tournament for Spain, but he didn't have enough club season to win the Ballandor.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_00]: But for me, the best play in the World Cup was the NL Messi, but I also don't think Messi should win it based on his club season.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_00]: And then to Miami, all due respect, you can't win it.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_00]: Playing outside of Europe, that's just the reality.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_00]: It's not like how the World Ballandor used to be back in the day.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_00]: So, for me, I'm looking at it from a situation of who was the most consistent across all competitions.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_00]: You look at Ambappe, he had a good woke up, but he won the golden boot also on the final match day, which was the match day three.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry, the third place playoff I should say.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_00]: He scored a bunch of goals from Madrid, didn't win any trophies for them.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_00]: Wasn't brilliant in the UCL, especially in the knockout stage.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_00]: He scored a lot, he was the top score in the UCL, one above Harry Kane.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_00]: But most of his goals came in the group stage against Kyra Almati, and in Piacos, I think, teams like that in the knockout stage he didn't perform.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_00]: So it's very, very open.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I haven't said who I think should win the ball and go on.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_01]: We can't guess because you left a name out.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_01]: Leas, I came into you because last, of course, I reached out to the messy entourage telling me, Hey, what are you feeling?
- 11:48[SPEAKER_01]: The messy entourage.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't get a message.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_02]: On the present of the corporation.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, what are your feelings on Leo?
- 11:55[SPEAKER_01]: And they say we are confident because he...
- 11:57[SPEAKER_02]: Mess is entourage that they're called.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_00]: You actually reached out to the entourage.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I feel you're a friend of Leas.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_01]: And they're confident because he had a crazy zone and he had a crazy zone and he had a And I'm less a legendary walkup 39 is still doing it.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's cool when the girls we're gonna talk about them.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_01]: It's later, but
- 12:18[SPEAKER_01]: Please, be aid.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_02]: Nah, I'm gonna behave, but come on, let's serve.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_02]: Messy will not win the ball on door.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_02]: I think if you had won the World Cup, I think they would have flown it to Miami and delivered him at the stadium, right?
- 12:30[SPEAKER_02]: If he had taken that Argentine team all the way past Spain, I think the ball on door would have been different.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't even think a lot of people would have even argued about it, right?
- 12:37[SPEAKER_02]: The cut-harmate he had was amazing, but again,
- 12:40[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to talk about this in a bit.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_02]: I don't believe you can win the Balondor of Owning a major honor.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_02]: And I've all due respect to MLS compared to the other leagues top teams and players are playing in.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_02]: It just isn't, excuse me, considered my eyes a trophy worth winning the Balondor over.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_02]: So I must see, unfortunately, my eyes as zero chance of winning the Balondor.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_02]: I do think you won't
- 12:57[SPEAKER_02]: rank highly, I think his world cup and a world cup year he'll be in the top 10, which is an incredible feat for someone at his age and where he plays, but we're talking about the ball and door, we'll all do respect his entourage, which I claim to be a part of, but obviously I hold no real way in that.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_02]: It's not your year, man.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_01]: And now I don't know from who should I start, if from you?
- 13:17[SPEAKER_01]: Because, I mean, I know your name.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know your name.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know what, Lee has to close your, who is going to win the Balondor?
- 13:23[SPEAKER_02]: Who's going to, or who should?
- 13:25[SPEAKER_01]: Who should, according to Lee has to.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_02]: It's different.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_02]: Who's going to win the Balondor?
- 13:29[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_01]: Give me.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_02]: I really don't know is that the truth is I don't know.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's I grew of Luca.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's the most open ballon door in a long time, but I also think that's because it's the worst ballon door in a long time.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_02]: No player has had a season.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_02]: I look at and think, wow, this marks the history of football.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_02]: I don't.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_02]: I don't look at anyone thinking you had even a career like every one of these nominees bar may be Olese,
- 13:55[SPEAKER_02]: has had a year that you could argue is just another year for them, right?
- 13:59[SPEAKER_02]: Laminia Mal, I think you could make the argument, didn't even have a better season this year than he did last year.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_02]: And if so, it's marginal, right?
- 14:06[SPEAKER_02]: I wouldn't say he was miles better this year than he was last year.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_02]: I look at Caine and he scored a lot of goals on route to winning the Bundesliga.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_02]: It sounds like he did last season.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he scored 73 goals, but we're talking about, okay, 50, 60, 70, it's not all that different.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_02]: He didn't accomplish something this year that I think is unheard of from Caine.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_02]: He scored a lot of goals.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_02]: Caine always scored a lot of goals.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_02]: I'll get him back paid.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_02]: The other one he scored more LaLiga goals and he did this last year than he did this year.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_02]: He scored a lot of goals and didn't win anything.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_02]: It sounds about what Mbappe usually does.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_02]: I'm looking at Kavara, amazing campaign.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_02]: Probably played what, like eight or nine games in League of Legends.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_02]: Seriously, you could probably count the games you played in League on one hand, right?
- 14:42[SPEAKER_02]: Like, at least say, I think would've had a real shout out this because I think he was fantastic and every competition.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_02]: But unfortunately for him, I think he faltered really badly in the latter stages of the World Cup.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_02]: Otherwise, I honestly think all these say would have a real shout at this.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I'll even put him up for him.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_02]: But I think honestly, like you're asking me all these names.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_02]: Anyone can really win it.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_02]: I will say who I think should win it.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_02]: The flow is yours.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_02]: Anybody but killing in Bapai should win the ball under.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_00]: I love it.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_02]: Why?
- 15:13[SPEAKER_02]: Anybody but killing in Bapai should win the ball under.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_02]: That's my opinion.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I know I'm Bapai done.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_02]: because killing him Bappe arrived to Real Madrid two seasons ago.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_02]: He left PSG, a team where he was scoring all the goals in the world.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_02]: winning countless golden boots in France and considered by most people, one of the best players in the world.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_02]: He left PSG, which he had been aching to do for a while, to join a team that I just won the Champions League and he joined them to accomplish a goal.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_02]: What was his goal?
- 15:45[SPEAKER_02]: To win the Champions League, which would then propel him to winning the ball on the earth, right?
- 15:50[SPEAKER_02]: Because scoring goals for PSG was enough to get him that.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_02]: He joined a team that won the Champions League to build on that and affirm his himself and his legacy by winning the ultimate prize.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_02]: In two years at Real Madrid, he hasn't accomplished his goal.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_02]: He has just done exactly what he did before joining Real Madrid.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_02]: And all the meanwhile, the team he joined who were on top, have not, there's no direct correlation, but there is, so there's a causation.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_02]: It's not correlation, but there is some causation to it.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_02]: They have literally got worse.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_02]: They haven't won a major honor and either of the years he's there.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_02]: Meanwhile, the team he left, again, I'm not saying direct correlation, but again, causation have won the two honours that previously avoided him that entire time.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_02]: How can you go to accomplish a goal, fail to do it, do the exact same thing individually that you were doing before, and claim that you deserve to win the biggest honor and all of sports?
- 16:44[SPEAKER_02]: That is the most delusional thing I've ever heard in my life.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_02]: To then go and say, no player had a better season than me, last year, because I scored all of these goals, and I was a top score in all these competitions.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_02]: You want to really break down each one of his competitions.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_02]: And La Liga, he scored 25 big goals, 18 of them came before January.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_02]: He scored less non-penalty goals than Moriki for Myorca who got relegated.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_02]: In the Champions League, he won the top score by scoring 15 goals, 13 of them came against the group phase.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_02]: You want to know who they came against?
- 17:13[SPEAKER_02]: I wrote them down.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_02]: They were a cryer.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we go.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_02]: Two times against Marseille.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we go.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_02]: Three times against Cairo.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_02]: Four times against Olympiacos.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_02]: Two times against Monaco.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_02]: Two times against Benfica.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_02]: That's 13 of his 15 Champions League goals in the group phase.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_02]: They come largely before the second half of the season.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_02]: The World Cup, the Golden Boot, amazing World Cup from in Bapai.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_02]: I can't take anything away from that.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_02]: But again, he won the Golden Boot off a third place game that by the way, Harry Kane didn't even play in.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_02]: Right, Harry Kane could have also won the Golden Boot if he played in that final game.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_02]: He literally sat it out because it's that irrelevant of a game.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_02]: And he has the nerve to talk about why I'm the top score of World Cup history.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_02]: Well, mate, that's an award that you got over three tournaments.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_02]: This is a single year award.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_02]: That's even before you get into his actual performances, which I'm sorry.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_02]: Any Real Madrid fan that watched in Batbe last season can say he scored all the goals in the world, but his overall play left a lot to be desired.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_02]: You couple that with the fact that again, he's one nothing.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_02]: Not for Ashton Villa, not for Athleticom Madrid, not for AC Milan, for Real Madrid and France, he won 0 trophies.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_02]: Let's stop acting like this guy's an underdog at a small team and he's being led down by his teammates.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_02]: He plays for two of the biggest clubs and countries in the game.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_02]: I don't care how many goals killing him about pay scores.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_02]: You get awarded the Pichichi and the Golden Booth for that.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_02]: But the ball on door will never be about how many goals an individual scores.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_02]: You get the gold molar trophy for that man.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_02]: And then my final point.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_02]: for him to come out and say, I look at the last few ball and door winners, and bar messian raldo, I wouldn't swap places of any of them.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_02]: Let me ask you this about pay.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_02]: Would any of them swap places with you?
- 18:46[SPEAKER_02]: Would raldo swap any of his recent seasons for yours?
- 18:50[SPEAKER_02]: Would Usman then belly swap his best season for yours?
- 18:53[SPEAKER_02]: would bend them a swap his best season for yours.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_02]: What?
- 18:56[SPEAKER_02]: Because you scored 50 goals.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_02]: These guys completed the game.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_02]: And this guy is talking about, I wouldn't swap my position for them.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_02]: That for me, it reaked of a guy who has completely lost sense of what the actual objective of the game is.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_02]: So to answer your question, I don't think it's a great ball in the or a year, but I definitely believe M.B.P.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_02]: should not win it.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_02]: Take your pick of anybody else.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_01]: Look, now I don't expect an invite from Real Madrid to attend any of the game, but thanks Lees, any one, but Kiria Bepit, from Lees, let us know your thoughts in the comment, look at the Flores' yours.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_00]: I also agreed up on Bapesh, I don't want it, so for me, Harry Kane should win the valando.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's not a great year, honestly, for the people involved in it, I'm not gonna
- 19:47[SPEAKER_00]: diminishing and bapé now for why I can't should win it because he did that already so I don't need to talk about mvapé, but the clear runs for me are kavara, kain, mvapé, yamal.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_00]: At least I'm not, I think he probably be fifth, I'm not really going to talk about him.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_00]: Kavara had a brilliant UCL campaign for me, the best player in the UCL, dim playing the World Cup, he's not going to win it.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_00]: Now, yamal and kank was already spoke about why mvapé shouldn't win it.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_00]: Namene, brilliant campaign for Barcelona.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_00]: La Liga player of the season in a season where Levin Doski was injured, Rafini was injured.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_00]: He shot Brightus.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_00]: Way brighter than in Vape for me, his individual performance was incredible.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_00]: Best play for Barcelona.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_00]: You could even make the case that you had about a club season.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_00]: Harry Kane, you could make that argument.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_00]: But in the World Cup, I know he was going into it with an injury.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_00]: He did not play well.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_00]: scored one goal, wasn't the best player for Spain, wasn't even probably top five best players for Spain, honestly, co-barcy, raw-dry, or yards about.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_00]: You can name quite a few that were better than him.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_00]: Fabiani even.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_00]: I think he should win it because he was simply the most consistent performer across all competitions.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_00]: If we look at his over year, he scored 72 goals and I know it's not a goal scoring award like you said the good mollo trophy is for that.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_00]: But he is the second highest goal score ever behind Leonardo Messi in 1112, only Messi outscored him in an individual season.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_00]: We look at the Bundesliga.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_00]: He was fantastic.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_00]: I expect that from him, won the Bundesliga.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_00]: The DFB Polkau, he was incredible.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_00]: That is a competition by Munich.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_00]: I've not won in the last four seasons.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_00]: That is true.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_00]: And he's got a hatching in the final to win it for them.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_00]: So he had a brilliant DFB Polkau as well.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_00]: Champions League, he was won goal behind the Bappe, but likely is outlined very well.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_00]: And Bappe's goals primarily came in the group stage.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_00]: Harry Kane had a very good knockout stage competition.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_00]: We always associate Harry Kane with not turning up in the UCL.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_00]: I think he had a good UCL knockout stage run, if I'm being honest.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_00]: Madrid, PSG, you can argue he could have done more, that's fair, but I think overall that is a very high performing UCL campaign for the likes of Harry Kane, not the best playing the competition that Kavar was.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_00]: Then when it comes to the World Cup, I was very critical of him, especially against nowhere in Argentina, I thought it was really really important to them to games, but the fact that the matter is if it was a for him against the Archon go England would have lost, so he did get them out of that game, despite the fact that a betting on was the best performance player for England throughout the whole competition.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think Kame was the best player in the World Cup, but I don't think the limino and Bappi was Eva, the front runners for the Balon Do, I think Messi was.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think Kame was the best player in the UCL, I think Cavaro was, but Cavaro didn't have the World Cup to back him up.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_00]: I think Kame was the best player in the Bundesliga and the DFB Polka.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_00]: But over, of course, all them four competitions Kame was the most consistent player.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_00]: For scoring 72 goals, for what he won compared to the other people, I think the Balon Do should probably go to him.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_02]: Can I ask you a question?
- 22:28[SPEAKER_02]: Because I don't necessarily disagree or agree with Can, like I said, I'm pretty, I think there's a few guys that could probably put a case forward for it.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_02]: But you said that you wouldn't put at least saying your top four, and yet you have Can winning the award.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_02]: Are there seasons all that different?
- 22:40[SPEAKER_02]: Like, yes, Can scored more goals, he's a goal score, but at least says, creative numbers were insane.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_02]: He had the most assist to work up, and I would make the argument, I think it's Champions League performances, especially in the knockouts rather than Canes.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_02]: I think I don't think that's right.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm asking, he said, he's not even in your top four.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_02]: But you have one guy winning against you.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_00]: I probably have at least a, yeah, fifth honestly.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_02]: Why, why is there four spots between them?
- 23:00[SPEAKER_00]: I think came was just, I think came was better in the Bundesliga than at least a person I think.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_00]: I think came was the, I think reality is right.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_00]: At least it was fantastic from a goalscom point of view, especially from a playmaking point of view.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_00]: I think you've got over 30, it's just think about what you want, which is outstanding.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_00]: But if it wasn't for K in up top,
- 23:16[SPEAKER_00]: He is the most important player in that team, especially with how Vincent company likes the play.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_00]: They play a very high line by a Munich.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_00]: Cain is the one that drops in deep to receive the ball and he uses, at least, say, but again, I'm not saying you're wrong to put Cain one.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_02]: I'm asking for sports balls.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_00]: Because I think Cain is the most important player for by a Munich.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_02]: But you could argue all he says the second, and again, you have an amazing season.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_02]: Like why is, I think you have a buff him.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_02]: You have a, you have a, you have a Yemal, I'm guessing, and you have Kavara?
- 23:41[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, yeah.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_02]: Why is Kavara a head of a Lisa?
- 23:44[SPEAKER_00]: Because of the UCL company.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_02]: But then you could argue, Alisa was better in his league and had, once the world got better.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_02]: No, but.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_02]: Is that enough to put him one?
- 23:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because I just think he was simply the best part in the Champions League.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if Kavara was outright the best.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not gonna let it go.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_02]: I think he was probably the best for me, but I don't think he was.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_00]: He had 18 gold involvement, most of them coming in the knockout stage.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_00]: When the go and got tough, the bar made a difference.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_02]: But I think they're building me the difference left for it, but he was.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he scored in the court finals, semi-files and finals, well he scored a pen in the final.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_00]: But I think Kavara's got it up, was the reason they got to that.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_00]: I think if I look at the, the tie against,
- 24:14[SPEAKER_00]: My Munich, I think Karate Schkelli had a better title than them, but I think it's imperfect, less it's impossible to rank, but I just think KM was more consistent across all competitions than I least say.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_00]: Plus you put in the fact that he scored 72 goals, he messed it out of scored him.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_00]: For me, K&H had a better season than I least.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_00]: I don't, I only think, yeah, I think I think it's going.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_01]: Let us know your top 10 in the comments, thanks Lees, thanks Luca, and see you next time.
