- 0:00Speaker 1: What you guys just watched tonight was not a football game.
- 0:05Speaker 2: It was a message.
- 0:06Speaker 1: 77-7 Miami over Florida A & M. And I want
- 0:10Speaker 1: to be careful with how I say that because there's
- 0:13Speaker 1: a version that gets taken out of context where folks
- 0:17Speaker 1: think I'm talking down about an FCS program and calling
- 0:21Speaker 1: it analysis. And then there's another version of this where
- 0:24Speaker 1: people think I'm overhyping a win against a program that
- 0:27Speaker 1: just isn't on the same level. This is ACC Football Addiction.
- 0:31Speaker 1: I'm TJ Pittenger. We are presented by PrizePix, where all
- 0:34Speaker 1: new users who play a $ 5 lineup using code HMA
- 0:38Speaker 1: and win get $ 150 in lineups instantly.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Let's be honest with ourselves for a moment.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Florida A & M is not walking into Hard Rock
- 0:45Speaker 1: Stadium and beating Miami. Nobody watching this game tonight was
- 0:50Speaker 1: expecting that, but blowouts can still tell you a few things.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Sometimes they don't tell you anything at all, and sometimes
- 0:58Speaker 1: a blowout is the clearest look you're going to get
- 1:01Speaker 1: at what a team actually is when no one's making
- 1:04Speaker 1: them work for it. Tonight was the second kind of message.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Because buried in the box score is a problem. I
- 1:13Speaker 1: don't think it's a problem for Miami. It's a problem
- 1:16Speaker 1: for everyone else on Miami's schedule for the rest of
- 1:19Speaker 1: the way. I want to talk about Darian Mensah, and
- 1:23Speaker 1: I don't think the words unreal is too strong for
- 1:27Speaker 1: what he's done through two games this season. I want
- 1:31Speaker 1: to talk a little bit about a running game that
- 1:32Speaker 1: has looked completely different in this Thursday night game that
- 1:37Speaker 1: we just got than it did against Stanford and why
- 1:40Speaker 1: I think that's the case. The real takeaway here is
- 1:44Speaker 1: really the concern of that every defensive coordinator left on
- 1:48Speaker 1: this schedule should have because after tonight, you don't get
- 1:52Speaker 1: to prepare for Miami's offense. You have to very clearly
- 1:57Speaker 1: pick which half you're willing to live with.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Let's get into things.
- 2:01Speaker 1: First, I want to start with this. I want to
- 2:02Speaker 1: give some credit to FAMU. I think that gets skipped
- 2:05Speaker 1: a lot of times in videos like this. I don't
- 2:08Speaker 1: think FAMU is a bad program. They've got history. They've
- 2:11Speaker 1: got a real fan base. They've got players who are
- 2:13Speaker 1: good enough to be on this field and compete somewhere.
- 2:16Speaker 1: This is a roster built for their level of competition. However,
- 2:20Speaker 1: it happened to walk into a stadium against a team
- 2:23Speaker 1: that is on a different planet, athletically, physically talent wise.
- 2:31Speaker 1: It's not some group of five athletic department that, running
- 2:35Speaker 1: down there in Coral Gables, it's certainly a step up
- 2:38Speaker 1: in competition.
- 2:40Speaker 2: I thought they competed hard.
- 2:42Speaker 1: I thought even though this game was decided within the
- 2:45Speaker 1: first three minutes and 51 seconds, it was good to
- 2:49Speaker 1: see them go out and fight and still force a
- 2:52Speaker 1: couple of mistakes by Miami late in the game that
- 2:54Speaker 1: kind of gave them something to feel good about. I
- 2:57Speaker 1: know that it didn't make Mario Cristobal happy, but a
- 3:00Speaker 1: big hats off to FAMU. They played two games in
- 3:03Speaker 1: very short order. against a team that was way more
- 3:05Speaker 1: talented than them. So, listen, it just is kind of
- 3:09Speaker 1: what it is from their side. What I am going
- 3:12Speaker 1: to do, though, moving forward with this, is use this
- 3:16Speaker 1: game the way you're supposed to use games like this.
- 3:20Speaker 1: We're not judging Miami's performance tonight based on the opponent.
- 3:25Speaker 1: I want to judge this game based on how Miami
- 3:28Speaker 1: approached it when it was no longer in doubt.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Here's the thing about blowout games.
- 3:33Speaker 1: When a team is up big early, you find out
- 3:36Speaker 1: really quickly what they actually want to work on. Mario
- 3:39Speaker 1: talks about this in his post-game interview with the ACC Network.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Some teams get pretty conservative. They say, ah, it's enough.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Call off the dogs. Let's just get out of here.
- 3:48Speaker 1: May run the ball three times into the line of
- 3:50Speaker 1: scrimmage and then punt the ball away and hope the
- 3:53Speaker 1: clock will just melt. Other teams keep their foot down.
- 3:56Speaker 1: They've got a point to prove. I don't necessarily think
- 3:58Speaker 1: this was either one of those. I think this was
- 4:01Speaker 1: Miami asking their guys to continue to execute like the
- 4:04Speaker 1: game was on the line, like the result was still
- 4:06Speaker 1: in doubt.
- 4:07Speaker 2: And they did that tonight.
- 4:09Speaker 1: And the number that tells you how fast is 49
- 4:13Speaker 1: to nothing. That's the halftime score. 49 to nothing at
- 4:18Speaker 1: the half on the way to a 77 to seven
- 4:20Speaker 1: school record, 856 yard of total offense kind of night.
- 4:26Speaker 1: It's the kind of first half that puts Miami in
- 4:29Speaker 1: the conversation with the most lopsided halves this program has
- 4:32Speaker 1: ever played. Here's what actually impressed me, though. It wasn't
- 4:35Speaker 1: just that the starters built a 49-point lead. It was
- 4:38Speaker 1: that once Miami had that lead in hand, the staff
- 4:41Speaker 1: didn't need to keep grinding the first string just to
- 4:43Speaker 1: be safe. Mensah and Tony had early nights that they
- 4:48Speaker 1: could be done, right? The offense didn't skip a beat
- 4:51Speaker 1: without them.
- 4:52Speaker 2: And why does that matter? Because depth is important.
- 4:56Speaker 1: It's not a story about one guy having a huge
- 5:00Speaker 1: game like last week was with Tony. It's a story
- 5:03Speaker 1: about a roster that's deep enough that the backups can
- 5:06Speaker 1: walk in cold and keep scoring touchdowns against anybody Miami
- 5:09Speaker 1: schedule throws at them in September. It's the kind of
- 5:12Speaker 1: depth that once you get in enough reps shows up
- 5:15Speaker 1: late in the year in November and December, and then
- 5:17Speaker 1: hopefully January for Miami when the starters are banged up
- 5:21Speaker 1: and somebody else has to answer the bell. I do
- 5:24Speaker 1: want to spend a couple of minutes talking about Darian
- 5:26Speaker 1: Mensah because I've been trying to find the right way
- 5:30Speaker 1: to describe another performance like this. And the same word
- 5:33Speaker 1: I keep landing on is simply unreal. I think we
- 5:37Speaker 1: knew that he would click with this offense. I know
- 5:40Speaker 1: we knew what the schedule looked like to start things out.
- 5:43Speaker 1: I know that we knew the first month was not
- 5:44Speaker 1: going to present a lot of challenges defensively, but to
- 5:47Speaker 1: have three incompletions a week ago and to just have
- 5:52Speaker 1: one tonight, to throw for 252 yards, to have no interceptions,
- 5:57Speaker 1: to have three touchdowns, and have your whole night summed
- 6:01Speaker 1: up with that, leading your team to a 49-0 halftime
- 6:05Speaker 1: lead and not giving Mario even a reason to bring
- 6:09Speaker 1: him out for one drive in the second half. 14
- 6:12Speaker 1: of 15, think about that completion percentage for just a second.
- 6:15Speaker 1: That's not a bunch of checkdowns against a defense they
- 6:18Speaker 1: gave up. He hit Josh Moore on a long touchdown
- 6:21Speaker 1: pass down the field. He threw a corner route, a
- 6:26Speaker 1: throw on a rope to Tony that he did not
- 6:30Speaker 1: break stride for. He's a quarterback that is playing clean,
- 6:34Speaker 1: surgical football for a half and then getting the rest.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Of the night off. Look, we all knew what Miami
- 6:42Speaker 2: was getting when they brought him in.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Everybody who follows recruiting and the portal, they knew the
- 6:46Speaker 1: price tag, they knew the hype, they knew the expectations
- 6:49Speaker 1: that came with it. You don't make that kind of
- 6:51Speaker 1: investment that Miami made at that position without knowing you're
- 6:55Speaker 1: on the clock to show that it was worth it.
- 6:58Speaker 1: And I know the opponents, but through two weeks, he's
- 7:00Speaker 1: shown that he was worth every dime. What stood out
- 7:03Speaker 1: to me wasn't just the touchdowns. It was how easy
- 7:06Speaker 1: and how effortless he makes throws. There's a difference between
- 7:10Speaker 1: a quarterback who's making tough throws look hard and a
- 7:13Speaker 1: quarterback who's making tough throws look routine. And tonight, every
- 7:16Speaker 1: window looked bigger than it should have. Every read looked
- 7:19Speaker 1: like he already knew the answer before the safety even moved.
- 7:23Speaker 1: It's not something that you can coach into a guy
- 7:26Speaker 1: in one offseason. It's a quarterback who is so comfortable,
- 7:29Speaker 1: a guy who trusts the other guys running routes, who
- 7:32Speaker 1: trusts the blocking in front of him, who's not thinking
- 7:35Speaker 1: at all.
- 7:36Speaker 2: He's just playing.
- 7:38Speaker 1: And when a quarterback gets to that point in an offense,
- 7:40Speaker 1: that's usually when things start getting scary for opposing coordinators. Hey,
- 7:45Speaker 1: just before I go on, I will ask you guys
- 7:47Speaker 1: a favor. We have an audio feed for this podcast.
- 7:51Speaker 1: It's just ACC Football Addiction. You can find it anywhere
- 7:53Speaker 1: you find podcasts, whether it's Spotify, Apple Podcasts, wherever. If
- 7:56Speaker 1: you're already subscribed here, which I know a lot of
- 7:58Speaker 1: you are, some of you still need to fix that
- 8:00Speaker 1: by hitting the button down below. But if you're not
- 8:02Speaker 1: subscribed yet, I would love if you went and subscribed
- 8:05Speaker 1: to our audio-only feed. That way, if you don't catch
- 8:07Speaker 1: every single video that we do on FSU or Virginia
- 8:10Speaker 1: Tech or UNC or Louisville or whomever, you still catch
- 8:14Speaker 1: what comes out on the audio feed. If you want
- 8:16Speaker 1: to listen to this twice, you certainly can. But go
- 8:18Speaker 1: check out that. Even if you don't listen to podcast
- 8:21Speaker 1: audio only, it would be a great way to support
- 8:23Speaker 1: the channel.
- 8:24Speaker 2: You guys' comments are always great. Some of them make
- 8:27Speaker 2: me die laughing because of the rivalry. I get it.
- 8:30Speaker 1: But if you want to support it another way, go
- 8:31Speaker 1: subscribe to your favorite audio podcast platform, and it would
- 8:35Speaker 1: help us tremendously. I want to talk about the backstory
- 8:38Speaker 1: for just a second because I think that matters too.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Miami didn't just go get a quarterback this offseason. They
- 8:43Speaker 1: went and got the quarterback. The price tag on that
- 8:47Speaker 1: move was one of the biggest storylines in the entire sport.
- 8:50Speaker 1: The way that that move happened at the 11th hour
- 8:52Speaker 1: when the portal was closing was one of the biggest
- 8:54Speaker 1: stories in the entire sport. And every single week that
- 8:57Speaker 1: Mensah doesn't play like a guy worth that money, it
- 8:59Speaker 1: will be a conversation. The problem is I don't think
- 9:01Speaker 1: it's ever going to be a part of a conversation.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Every week he does play like it, The worries about,
- 9:08Speaker 1: oh man, why did he transfer? Oh man, how much
- 9:10Speaker 1: are they paying him? That starts to disappear. And tonight
- 9:13Speaker 1: I think it's disappeared completely. Nobody's bringing up, man, how
- 9:16Speaker 1: much Miami paid or why would they do this and
- 9:18Speaker 1: go get it? Not after a performance like that. They're
- 9:21Speaker 1: just talking about the football and it's freaking good. That's
- 9:25Speaker 1: what tonight, a night like tonight can buy you. It's
- 9:28Speaker 1: not just a win on the schedule. It buys the
- 9:32Speaker 1: quarterback room. It buys the fan base's patience. Because there's
- 9:36Speaker 1: so much trust. There's so much equity buildup in what
- 9:39Speaker 1: this staff has assembled. Malachi Toney, certainly part of the
- 9:43Speaker 1: story tonight.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Four catches, 96 yards, a touchdown.
- 9:46Speaker 1: And he wasn't even the one throwing to himself on
- 9:48Speaker 1: the play everybody's going to be clipping tomorrow. The 52-yard
- 9:51Speaker 1: catch where he flat-out mossed a defender, went back up,
- 9:55Speaker 1: took it right over the guy on top of him
- 9:57Speaker 1: like he wasn't even there.
- 9:59Speaker 2: We've talked about Tony plenty on ACC Football Addiction.
- 10:02Speaker 1: I'm not going to sit here and repeat every superlative
- 10:05Speaker 1: that I've given him throughout the offseason and last week
- 10:08Speaker 1: against Stanford. But the chemistry between him and Mensah is
- 10:11Speaker 1: certainly the story of this offense. You knew it would
- 10:14Speaker 1: be there with Cooper. You wondered how quickly they would
- 10:16Speaker 1: establish it with Tony. And my gosh, if those guys
- 10:18Speaker 1: don't look like they've been playing together for five years.
- 10:21Speaker 1: When your quarterback and your number one target are seeing
- 10:24Speaker 1: the game the same way, it's an offense that stops
- 10:26Speaker 1: being good and starts being genuinely hard to defend. Now
- 10:31Speaker 1: here's where tonight got interesting to me because the passing
- 10:34Speaker 1: game being good is not a surprise to anyone. We
- 10:37Speaker 1: saw it last Friday in Palo Alto. Everyone who's watched
- 10:40Speaker 1: Miami this year has seen it last week. If you
- 10:43Speaker 1: wanted to nitpick the offense, that's where you'd go.
- 10:46Speaker 2: The running game. It wasn't bad.
- 10:48Speaker 1: It just wasn't what people expected given the backfield that
- 10:51Speaker 1: Miami's got. There were a couple of series where the
- 10:54Speaker 1: offensive line didn't win up front the way you'd want
- 10:56Speaker 1: to against lesser competition. There were times where Mark Fletcher
- 11:00Speaker 1: didn't bust off the big run that you thought he
- 11:02Speaker 1: might should against Stanford. And a lot of that had
- 11:05Speaker 1: to do with the way that they played. Tonight, that
- 11:08Speaker 1: wasn't the conversation at all. Mark Fletcher Jr. opened the
- 11:11Speaker 1: game with a long touchdown run on Miami's very first possession.
- 11:14Speaker 1: He added a second touchdown before halftime was here. The
- 11:17Speaker 1: line was moving people off the ball from snap one,
- 11:20Speaker 1: and it wasn't just Fletcher. Once he came out with
- 11:22Speaker 1: the rest of the starters, Mallory came in and kept
- 11:25Speaker 1: it going, finishing with two rushing touchdowns of his own.
- 11:28Speaker 1: Different guys, different styles, same result. Positive yardage, snap after snap,
- 11:34Speaker 1: starters and backups both. And I think it's worth walking
- 11:38Speaker 1: through why that depth in the running back room actually
- 11:41Speaker 1: works the way it does, because it's not an accident.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Fletcher gives you.
- 11:45Speaker 1: The power runner, the guy who's going to fall forward
- 11:47Speaker 1: for extra yards and finish through arm tackles. Brown gives
- 11:51Speaker 1: you another physical body who can spell him without the
- 11:53Speaker 1: offense missing a beat. You guys got good news on
- 11:55Speaker 1: Jordan Lyle this week from an off-field perspective. Wouldn't be
- 11:58Speaker 1: surprised to see him back soon. A guy who's shown
- 12:01Speaker 1: real flashes of being a lead back himself when he's
- 12:04Speaker 1: gotten the opportunity. And then you've got a change of
- 12:07Speaker 1: pace guy who can get to the edge and turn
- 12:10Speaker 1: a routine carry into a home run the second the
- 12:12Speaker 1: defense loses a contain. You don't get four different puzzle
- 12:16Speaker 1: pieces like that on accident. You get them by recruiting
- 12:19Speaker 1: the run game as hard as you recruit the offensive line,
- 12:21Speaker 1: the quarterback position. And tonight was a reminder of just
- 12:24Speaker 1: how deep that room actually is when it's all clicking.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Compare that to last week. It's a different story. Stanford
- 12:32Speaker 1: played you a little bit differently. Backs weren't getting through
- 12:35Speaker 1: as clean to the second level.
- 12:37Speaker 2: As you would have liked.
- 12:39Speaker 1: I didn't think it was broken, but it looked like
- 12:41Speaker 1: a group that was still trying to figure things out.
- 12:43Speaker 2: Tonight looked like a group that found it. Now, I
- 12:45Speaker 2: do want to be honest with you.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Some of that is because FAMU does not have the
- 12:49Speaker 1: horses up front to hold up for four quarters. Sure.
- 12:52Speaker 1: I said at the top of the show, I wasn't
- 12:54Speaker 1: going to pretend that this was a fair fight talent wise.
- 12:56Speaker 2: And I meant that.
- 12:57Speaker 1: But here's where I'd push back on you wanting to
- 13:00Speaker 1: wave the whole rushing performance away as garbage time yardage
- 13:03Speaker 1: against overmatched competition. This wasn't just the starter stat padding
- 13:07Speaker 1: a stat line before a merciful exit. Fletcher got his
- 13:11Speaker 1: work done fast and then got out. And then the
- 13:14Speaker 1: backups came in and ran the same exact way. Physical,
- 13:17Speaker 1: same finish through contact. Mallory wasn't out there tiptoeing around
- 13:20Speaker 1: because the game was decided.
- 13:22Speaker 2: He was still running like it mattered.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Execution against a lesser opponent still requires you to actually execute.
- 13:28Speaker 1: And nobody on this roster, starter or backup, decided to
- 13:31Speaker 1: take the night off. So even with the talent gap acknowledged,
- 13:34Speaker 1: I think it's fair to say that something clicked tonight
- 13:38Speaker 1: in that running game that maybe didn't go against Stanford.
- 13:42Speaker 1: And if it's clicking now, heading into tougher competition, that's
- 13:45Speaker 1: a real development.
- 13:46Speaker 2: It's not a mirage.
- 13:48Speaker 1: It also brings me to the major point of how
- 13:50Speaker 1: this game was played. The thing I really want you
- 13:53Speaker 1: to walk away thinking about if you're a Miami fan
- 13:55Speaker 1: or a Miami hater, a doubter, whatever, if you're enjoying
- 13:58Speaker 1: Miami football or hating it so far this year, Miami's
- 14:01Speaker 1: passing game is elite. I think we've established that. Mensa
- 14:06Speaker 1: is playing like a guy who was worth every dollar
- 14:09Speaker 1: of the investment. And Tony's one of the best players
- 14:11Speaker 1: in the entire country. And now we got to look
- 14:16Speaker 1: at Miami's running game and that looks pretty elite too.
- 14:19Speaker 1: And here's why that combination is so dangerous. I don't
- 14:23Speaker 1: think people talk about this enough, but when one part
- 14:26Speaker 1: of an offense is clearly ahead of the other defensive
- 14:29Speaker 1: coordinators get to make a decision and it's usually a
- 14:32Speaker 1: pretty easy one. If a team can't run the ball,
- 14:35Speaker 1: you sit back, you play too high, and you make
- 14:37Speaker 1: the quarterback drive you the length of the field over
- 14:40Speaker 1: and over and dare him to be perfect. If a
- 14:43Speaker 1: team can't throw the ball on the other side, you
- 14:46Speaker 1: stack the box. You dare them to run into extra defenders,
- 14:51Speaker 1: and you make their quarterback beat you with his arm.
- 14:54Speaker 1: Every defensive game plan in football starts with figuring out
- 14:56Speaker 1: which of those two things you're willing to live with,
- 14:59Speaker 1: because it's really hard to stop both.
- 15:02Speaker 2: And Miami... fans.
- 15:03Speaker 1: Already know exactly what it looks like when this program
- 15:06Speaker 1: leans on the run in games that actually matter because
- 15:09Speaker 1: we saw it in the cotton bowl against Ohio state
- 15:11Speaker 1: Fletcher carried it. How many times for how many yards
- 15:14Speaker 1: walked away with an offensive MVP in a 24 to
- 15:17Speaker 1: 14 win over the defending champs.
- 15:19Speaker 2: That wasn't a shootout.
- 15:20Speaker 1: That was Miami imposing its will on the ground against
- 15:23Speaker 1: one of the best teams in the country. And that
- 15:26Speaker 1: is the blueprint. That's what happens when this offense has
- 15:29Speaker 1: answers on the ground and in the air at the
- 15:31Speaker 1: same time. Teams don't just lose the game plan battle.
- 15:35Speaker 1: They lose it before the game even starts. What Miami
- 15:39Speaker 1: is doing right now, at least based on the versions
- 15:41Speaker 1: that we've seen this year so far, is taking that
- 15:45Speaker 1: decision away from you. If you want to load the
- 15:48Speaker 1: box and make Mensah beat you throwing it, perfectly fine
- 15:53Speaker 1: with Miami. He's shown that he can do that as
- 15:55Speaker 1: well as anybody in the country. If you want to
- 15:57Speaker 1: play back and take away Tony, not that you can
- 16:00Speaker 1: ever take him away, but you want to take away
- 16:02Speaker 1: the deep ball and dare them to run it 40 times.
- 16:06Speaker 2: Perfectly fine with Miami as well.
- 16:09Speaker 1: And what we saw tonight from that offensive line, from
- 16:11Speaker 1: the running back room, that's a nightmare matchup for a
- 16:14Speaker 1: defensive coordinator because they can't say, which do we take away?
- 16:20Speaker 1: Because you can always try and limit one. The nightmare
- 16:24Speaker 1: is when the answer to that question stops mattering because
- 16:27Speaker 1: whichever one you pick, the other one just beats you instead.
- 16:31Speaker 1: It is so cliche, but it is truly pick your poison.
- 16:34Speaker 1: And that's really what this game came down to for FAMU.
- 16:37Speaker 1: And what it's going to come down to for a
- 16:40Speaker 1: lot of teams on Miami's schedule. If they run the
- 16:43Speaker 1: ball like this because you're not stacking the box, you're
- 16:47Speaker 1: in trouble. And if you stack the box and try
- 16:50Speaker 1: and go one-on-one with these receivers and Darian Mensah is
- 16:52Speaker 1: the quarterback, you're in a lot of trouble.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Now, I'll be the first to say.
- 16:58Speaker 1: I need to see more than one blowout game against
- 17:01Speaker 1: FAMU to know more about this Miami offense. FAMU is
- 17:06Speaker 1: not the team that tells you whether an offensive line
- 17:08Speaker 1: is elite. The next few weeks against a little better competition,
- 17:14Speaker 1: maybe not great, but still better, will tell us a
- 17:18Speaker 1: lot more than tonight did. And I think that's just honest.
- 17:21Speaker 1: You guys are not surprised by that by any means.
- 17:25Speaker 1: But I would rather see a team execute, be clean,
- 17:30Speaker 1: other than the announcer jinxing a false start, keep its
- 17:33Speaker 1: foot down on the gas pedal, and answer real questions
- 17:36Speaker 1: about itself in a game like this than see them
- 17:39Speaker 1: coast through it and leave you with nothing. I don't
- 17:42Speaker 1: think Miami coasted tonight. They used this game. And what
- 17:47Speaker 1: they showed you is that this team right now has
- 17:50Speaker 1: answers for both ways you try to attack it. Zoom
- 17:53Speaker 1: out from this game just a little bit and look
- 17:55Speaker 1: at the conference picture for just a sec.
- 17:58Speaker 2: Because I think this matters more than just tonight's box score.
- 18:02Speaker 1: The ACC race is going to come down to which
- 18:04Speaker 1: team looks the most complete when October and November hit.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Not who puts up the biggest numbers against an overmatched
- 18:10Speaker 1: opponent in September. But complete is the exact word for
- 18:14Speaker 1: what Miami looked like tonight. It's a quarterback playing at
- 18:17Speaker 1: an elite level, a number one receiver who's arguably the
- 18:21Speaker 1: best player in this league right now. And for tonight,
- 18:26Speaker 1: an offensive line in a running back room that looked
- 18:28Speaker 1: like it belonged in the same sentence as that passing attack.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Let's be honest with ourselves. Miami is not just an
- 18:34Speaker 2: ACC contender.
- 18:35Speaker 1: They're the profile of a team that's built to be
- 18:38Speaker 1: very dangerous in January. If you're a Miami fan, you
- 18:43Speaker 1: should feel pretty good heading into the next few weeks.
- 18:46Speaker 1: Not because you beat the Rattlers, but because of how
- 18:49Speaker 1: you beat them, how you executed, and how dangerous both
- 18:54Speaker 1: ways your offense can attack defenses really is. We'll find
- 18:58Speaker 1: out soon enough if games against better competition will make
- 19:01Speaker 1: you work for it or not. But as far as
- 19:05Speaker 1: tonight goes, not a lot of things to complain about.
- 19:08Speaker 1: There are certainly things that Mario Cristobal will try and
- 19:10Speaker 1: clean up I understand the turnover that led to the
- 19:14Speaker 1: FAMU touchdown. I honestly wasn't even upset with that. Give
- 19:17Speaker 1: those kids something to celebrate on the long trip home.
- 19:20Speaker 1: I wasn't too upset with the fall star, except for
- 19:23Speaker 1: the announcer seemed to be the one to jinx it.
- 19:27Speaker 1: But I'd love to hear your thoughts. Mensa, more touchdowns
- 19:31Speaker 1: than incompletions through two games. The running game, absolutely going
- 19:35Speaker 1: wild tonight. Some of the best receivers in the country. Again,
- 19:38Speaker 1: I think he got a top two receiver, and I'm
- 19:40Speaker 1: listening to arguments for him being top one.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Let me know what you think down in the comments.
