- 0:06Speaker 1: Drama Darling, Drama Darling Drama Darling.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Hello Darlings, and welcome in to the Drama Darling Podcast.
- 0:25Speaker 2: This is a very special episode, so this is not
- 0:30Speaker 2: going to follow the Bravo structure. However, I think that
- 0:37Speaker 2: this show is under the umbrella of what I love,
- 0:41Speaker 2: the drama that I love, and also it has a
- 0:43Speaker 2: personal spot in my heart. Now, first of all, this
- 0:46Speaker 2: show is called Gross Point Garden Society. It is on
- 0:50Speaker 2: NBC on Sunday nights. And why do you think I
- 0:53Speaker 2: love this so much? Of course, those who listen to
- 0:55Speaker 2: my show know me all these years. It is because
- 0:57Speaker 2: I am from gross Pointe, Michigan. And this is exciting
- 1:01Speaker 2: because I have one of my best friends joining me
- 1:04Speaker 2: today who is also from gross Pointe, Michigan. Please welcome
- 1:08Speaker 2: and Megan Granna.
- 1:12Speaker 3: I'm so excited to be on this show. I'm so
- 1:14Speaker 3: excited to be here with Amy. Oh my gosh, this
- 1:18Speaker 3: is a dream come true.
- 1:19Speaker 2: It really is. I mean the fact that we go
- 1:22Speaker 2: way back to high school, Yes, it is.
- 1:27Speaker 3: I just want to tell your audience that I saw
- 1:30Speaker 3: you perform when I was in high school. Amy's a
- 1:33Speaker 3: couple yes, Gross Points South and I forget if you're
- 1:38Speaker 3: one or two grades older than me. I don't remember.
- 1:40Speaker 2: I saw three grades older than I feel so much
- 1:44Speaker 2: younger than I am. But yes, that's how cool Meghan
- 1:49Speaker 2: is because I mean the structure, as we know, you
- 1:53Speaker 2: don't talk to like underclassmen. So Megan, it was so
- 1:57Speaker 2: cool that like we knew each other.
- 1:59Speaker 3: I mean, I mean, but Amy influenced the entire trajectory
- 2:03Speaker 3: of my life. This is no understatement, because I saw
- 2:07Speaker 3: her perform in high school in our comedy group.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Shout out second suburb.
- 2:12Speaker 3: Yes I was. I mean, it's I say our I
- 2:14Speaker 3: wasn't in it. I saw her perform and I was like,
- 2:17Speaker 3: oh my gosh, this is the greatest thing I've ever
- 2:19Speaker 3: seen in my life. I have to audition for this thing.
- 2:21Speaker 3: So it was all thanks to you, because I don't
- 2:23Speaker 3: remember a single other person in it, but I remember.
- 2:26Speaker 2: You now that speaks volumes and my That was some
- 2:30Speaker 2: of my earlier work when I would do impressions of
- 2:33Speaker 2: the teachers over the PA, because yes, of course I
- 2:37Speaker 2: was the one selected to do the PA announcements and
- 2:40Speaker 2: I bet you were too, weren't you.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Oh I tried doing those in one of the teachers
- 2:45Speaker 3: I forget which one told me I had to get
- 2:48Speaker 3: cut from the job because my voice was too annoying.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Okay, I honestly feel like mine was super annoying too.
- 3:01Speaker 2: I don't know anyone who has an actual my voice
- 3:05Speaker 2: is still annoying. I can't even believe that I have
- 3:07Speaker 2: a You.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Do voiceovers for a living, you have an amazing voice.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Okay, I think, yeah, whatever, AA like announcements, they're annoying.
- 3:18Speaker 2: And I was told that very same thing and by
- 3:22Speaker 2: somebody who was like listening in class. And my boyfriend
- 3:24Speaker 2: at the time was like, yeah, someone in my class
- 3:27Speaker 2: was like, that girl's voice is so annoying. And I
- 3:29Speaker 2: was like, oh, thanks for telling me that. You're a
- 3:32Speaker 2: great boyfriend. Reality check so mean. But anyway, we both
- 3:41Speaker 2: attended gross Point South and are graduates. We did graduate,
- 3:47Speaker 2: We made it holler, and we've now moved on. You know,
- 3:51Speaker 2: we can tell our story perhaps inner weave it throughout
- 3:54Speaker 2: this recap, but we're not gonna, you know, lay the
- 3:58Speaker 2: foundation of our entire life right here. It's not about us.
- 4:01Speaker 2: It's about a show that is taking place in gross
- 4:05Speaker 2: Point which is very exciting, and that's what we're here
- 4:08Speaker 2: to do now. First, off. If you listen to this podcast,
- 4:12Speaker 2: if you're just listening to this because you haven't listened
- 4:14Speaker 2: to Drama Darling before. Typically I recap all Housewives things
- 4:18Speaker 2: in a comedic way. And so I am an actor,
- 4:22Speaker 2: I'm a comedian. I had a show on Serious XM
- 4:26Speaker 2: for a long long time and now this is a podcast.
- 4:28Speaker 2: And Megan is a writer comedian, She's an actress and
- 4:35Speaker 2: has done millions and millions of things that I look
- 4:39Speaker 2: up to and admire. So you know, look us up
- 4:44Speaker 2: on IMDb. You know what I mean. Check us out,
- 4:46Speaker 2: do a Google search just to do We're the real deal.
- 4:49Speaker 2: We know what we're talking about. We live in La Okay.
- 4:52Speaker 2: We've been here for like in La thirteen years. We
- 4:56Speaker 2: have like seen the wild of Iyers. We have seen
- 5:00Speaker 2: the floods, we.
- 5:01Speaker 3: Have seen through it all, all of it. So La
- 5:10Speaker 3: I live in Burbank.
- 5:12Speaker 2: I have now moved to Santa Clarita in the suburbs
- 5:14Speaker 2: of Los Angeles where I reside. It's a very quiet neighborhood.
- 5:19Speaker 2: It couldn't be more quiet in Burbank.
- 5:20Speaker 3: It's so old fashioned.
- 5:21Speaker 2: But I live in La Okay. More gun shops per
- 5:25Speaker 2: capita in Burbank also lots up here in Santa Clarita.
- 5:28Speaker 2: So gross Pointers come out here, dog get your guns. Okay,
- 5:34Speaker 2: first of all, I want to say that the director
- 5:38Speaker 2: of this show is Maggie Kylie. The writers of this
- 5:42Speaker 2: show are Bill Krebs and Jenna Bands. Now they're also
- 5:49Speaker 2: the creators of the show. They have. Boy, they've done
- 5:53Speaker 2: a lot of work in this field of entertainment. Megan
- 5:55Speaker 2: did a little Google search, little IMDb search and they did.
- 5:59Speaker 3: Yeah, they are. They've done so much. They made the
- 6:03Speaker 3: show Good Girls, which I believe was on Netflix, and
- 6:06Speaker 3: that was so popular. That was their last project and
- 6:09Speaker 3: I think they must have gotten some overall deal or
- 6:11Speaker 3: something from that. But before that, Jenna worked on Desperate
- 6:14Speaker 3: Housewives for many many seasons. And again I AMDB them too,
- 6:20Speaker 3: because they've done a lot of works.
- 6:24Speaker 2: We understand. Jenna is from Minnesota, Minnesota, Okay, Mansota. Bill
- 6:33Speaker 2: are you from gross point Are you from Grossy Pointy?
- 6:36Speaker 2: We're not sure. Wow, love to have you on the show.
- 6:40Speaker 2: If you hear this before we try and get in
- 6:41Speaker 2: touch with you. We'd love to do an interview with you, guys,
- 6:44Speaker 2: and you know, see what's cooking over there. Also I
- 6:48Speaker 2: also need to tell you that my mother is currently
- 6:51Speaker 2: and has been a member of the actual gross Point
- 6:56Speaker 2: garden Club, not society, not society, society Club's.
- 7:01Speaker 3: She's in the club, which might even be more prestigious,
- 7:04Speaker 3: more prestigious, as they say, than this than the garden
- 7:08Speaker 3: society they showed us in this show.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Perhaps perhaps. And I want to read you the text
- 7:14Speaker 2: that she sent me. She does not know I'm doing
- 7:17Speaker 2: this podcast about this. I will reveal this to her
- 7:19Speaker 2: at a later time. But I said to her quite briefly, Mom,
- 7:24Speaker 2: can you send me a quick text telling me what
- 7:26Speaker 2: you do in your garden club, because the last I
- 7:29Speaker 2: recall is they don't actually garden, okay, And so that
- 7:32Speaker 2: is the headline here, whereas in this show they are gardening.
- 7:35Speaker 2: They are gardening their little tushes off. Let me say,
- 7:38Speaker 2: let me, let me tell you. So she says this,
- 7:42Speaker 2: and it's I mean, it's eloquent. I mean, it's a
- 7:45Speaker 2: long one. As you know, this is a mom text.
- 7:47Speaker 2: I mean, I know she was doing like the voice
- 7:49Speaker 2: to text by the way, I know she was. We
- 7:52Speaker 2: plan programs during our season, which is September to May.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Each month, the host member selects a speaker that pertains
- 8:00Speaker 2: to an aspect of gardening and she hosts a lunch
- 8:04Speaker 2: at her home. We usually offer a small token of
- 8:07Speaker 2: appreciation to the speaker. If it is a charitable organization,
- 8:11Speaker 2: we offer a small donation. We support gross Pointe City
- 8:15Speaker 2: Village planting every year as well as Gross Point Memorial
- 8:20Speaker 2: Trial Gardens. I'm not sure if that's correct. Again, this
- 8:23Speaker 2: is voice to text, with usually a donation. At Christmas
- 8:28Speaker 2: we have a strictly fun dinner. Strictly fun dinner.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Correctly fun. Don't you dare not have fun?
- 8:35Speaker 2: Don't you dare? With gift exchange. Occasionally we have an
- 8:40Speaker 2: event called Treasures and Trinkets. Oh, I hear about this
- 8:43Speaker 2: every year where we raise funds for our treasury. Our
- 8:47Speaker 2: garden Club celebrated it's fiftieth anniversary last year. We have
- 8:52Speaker 2: a lot of fun together and have formed fond and
- 8:55Speaker 2: lasting friendships. Ps. We buried three bodies in twenty seventeen,
- 9:01Speaker 2: two bodies in twenty nineteen. No, I'm kidding. Oh my gosh,
- 9:11Speaker 2: your mom is thorough. I love that she's very thorough.
- 9:14Speaker 2: She's in a lot of clubs in gross Point.
- 9:18Speaker 3: It's a long season, I must say that's a long
- 9:21Speaker 3: I mean September to May. That's longer than any sport.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Is it? Is it September to May? Or is it
- 9:28Speaker 2: May to September? Let's go back? Is that what she says?
- 9:30Speaker 2: You're Meghan, Meghan Grano right again? September to May. And
- 9:34Speaker 2: you're right, that is a long season.
- 9:36Speaker 3: It's a long season.
- 9:38Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, there's a lot of luncheons to pop in.
- 9:41Speaker 3: There, you know, a lot to learn, a lot to
- 9:44Speaker 3: learn with these guest speakers. I love the token gifts.
- 9:46Speaker 3: That is very thoughtful.
- 9:49Speaker 2: Now, if you stay with us to the end of this,
- 9:50Speaker 2: Meghan and I are going to do a quick quiz
- 9:52Speaker 2: telling you what Flower we are, and perhaps you'll do
- 9:56Speaker 2: that too if you want to play along, okay, because
- 10:00Speaker 2: that's how they really introduced this cast, which I think
- 10:04Speaker 2: was quite a very clever way to get into each
- 10:08Speaker 2: character and knowing exactly who they are by way of Flower. Also,
- 10:14Speaker 2: were you getting like, well, Desperate Housewives had that narration, right, Yes,
- 10:21Speaker 2: so that we had that, we have like a gossip girl.
- 10:23Speaker 2: We've got a Desperate Housewives gossip girl narration over it,
- 10:26Speaker 2: which is a nice tone for this.
- 10:28Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, really fine, adds to the mystery and.
- 10:31Speaker 2: Adds to the mystery. I do enjoy that. I thought,
- 10:34Speaker 2: now I've learned that they've they shot this in Atlanta,
- 10:39Speaker 2: so I really felt like they did encapsulate the city
- 10:42Speaker 2: of gross Point by the way it looks, don't you.
- 10:44Speaker 3: Think absolutely the house shots, for example, when they're dropping
- 10:49Speaker 3: off the kids, the step kid, yeah, the stepdad. And
- 10:53Speaker 3: I was on her that house looks straight Yeah, Connor's place,
- 10:56Speaker 3: it looks straight out of Gross Points.
- 10:59Speaker 2: English tutor nailed it out of the gates. You know,
- 11:04Speaker 2: Bertie's house, which wasn't I mean, it was more of
- 11:06Speaker 2: a modern feel. Yeah, but like I think they definitely
- 11:10Speaker 2: have those types of houses like uh, but certainly that's
- 11:14Speaker 2: not a huge style, but perfect for her because she
- 11:17Speaker 2: would kind of go for that.
- 11:19Speaker 3: New, totally modern. Yeah. Yeah, I could see those houses
- 11:22Speaker 3: being on Lake Shore. Maybe a couple of those, even
- 11:25Speaker 3: though they look old from the outside, someone got in
- 11:27Speaker 3: there and maybe redid it new.
- 11:29Speaker 2: Yes, yes, absolutely, And of course the headline is to
- 11:34Speaker 2: make a garden grow, something has to die. So and
- 11:38Speaker 2: as we said, we get into know some of these characters.
- 11:41Speaker 2: We have Bertie, we have Alice, we have Brett, which,
- 11:43Speaker 2: by the way. Uh, my husband's name is Brett, not
- 11:48Speaker 2: from gross point to which I call him Brett. We
- 11:53Speaker 2: have Catherine, we have Patty. I'm just going through like
- 11:58Speaker 2: the cast list on IMDb, and we can get into
- 12:02Speaker 2: some of those characters later.
- 12:04Speaker 3: But.
- 12:06Speaker 2: We we definitely are getting a nice good taste of
- 12:09Speaker 2: the president of the of the Garden Society and her Maryland.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Is that her name, yes, Mary, Yes, perfect name for
- 12:19Speaker 2: the Garden Society press. And her accent was perfect, spot on.
- 12:25Speaker 2: She had if we if we if we want a
- 12:28Speaker 2: shot at winning the Cup this year, we want to
- 12:31Speaker 2: go more exotic. I mean it was perfect. I know
- 12:34Speaker 2: I'm overdoing it certainly, but like we got shot, we
- 12:37Speaker 2: got cup, we got exotic, we got all the words
- 12:41Speaker 2: we want to hit on with those o's.
- 12:43Speaker 3: Oh, she nailed it. It's what I sound like without
- 12:45Speaker 3: even trying. And I was like, I feel like I'm
- 12:48Speaker 3: listening to myself. I feel like I'm listening to myself
- 12:50Speaker 3: up there.
- 12:51Speaker 2: We're at home. And I did go to acting school.
- 12:54Speaker 2: I was classically trained, to which I was given a
- 12:57Speaker 2: very very strict guidelines as to how to speak the
- 13:01Speaker 2: standard American English, and I was able to curb my
- 13:05Speaker 2: Midwest accent so beautifully only to get it back eventually.
- 13:11Speaker 2: But I know how to kind of get rid of it,
- 13:13Speaker 2: which is why the voiceover thing was a good place
- 13:16Speaker 2: for me to land for for doing commercials for all
- 13:19Speaker 2: those years.
- 13:21Speaker 3: Yeah, because you know how to you know how to
- 13:22Speaker 3: tamp it down for me. As soon as I hear
- 13:24Speaker 3: that Michigan, it just it comes out even even stronger.
- 13:28Speaker 2: Just that's like home. Yeah, they jump right in, they are,
- 13:39Speaker 2: they're working in the garden. We get a nice drop
- 13:41Speaker 2: to Bloomfield Hills and how they cheated at the last.
- 13:46Speaker 2: I loved that.
- 13:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I was like throwing Bloomfield Hills right under the bus.
- 13:52Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, they did what was it some.
- 13:56Speaker 2: Sort of engineered magnolias?
- 13:59Speaker 3: Wow? Wow Wow it sounds about right.
- 14:02Speaker 2: It totally does. Sorry Bloomies, but I mean your west Side.
- 14:06Speaker 2: We are east Side at heart, and you know we're
- 14:09Speaker 2: gonna we're gonna grind it out the organic way. We're
- 14:12Speaker 2: not going genetically engineered.
- 14:16Speaker 3: Sorry, it's very new, very very it's new money, yes,
- 14:22Speaker 3: new money, Flowers, we're old money. We do it traditionally, traditionally, yes, exactly.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Bertie, who is definitely like, you know, this character's pop
- 14:37Speaker 2: and she's a bit of a fish out of water.
- 14:38Speaker 2: She is unhinged. She's getting into drinking and driving accidents,
- 14:43Speaker 2: just popping up on probably some gross point sign somewhere,
- 14:46Speaker 2: some sort of historical like building or something and crashing
- 14:50Speaker 2: And I'm loving that for I'm loving that for her
- 14:52Speaker 2: and for us.
- 14:53Speaker 3: I'm loving that too. It also feels very gross point
- 14:57Speaker 3: to me. That feels like the type of accidents that
- 14:58Speaker 3: happening gross point, like drunk driving into a sign and
- 15:02Speaker 3: fountain and just you know, she's she's a successful author
- 15:07Speaker 3: and she's got money and she drinks.
- 15:11Speaker 2: Did you buy any chance catch what book it was
- 15:14Speaker 2: that she wrote? Because I couldn't see it, did you know? Okay,
- 15:18Speaker 2: I didn't catch it.
- 15:19Speaker 3: I really wanted to.
- 15:19Speaker 2: I should have gone back for that. But it did
- 15:22Speaker 2: look like I mean, she's wearing like what like a fur.
- 15:24Speaker 2: I mean, it just looks very on brand for her,
- 15:26Speaker 2: and I'm just so here for it. Yes, so, And
- 15:30Speaker 2: and by the way, I did write a book also,
- 15:33Speaker 2: I co authored a Real Housewives cookbook, be an awes
- 15:36Speaker 2: amazing book. So go and get it. Gross pointers. If
- 15:39Speaker 2: you're listening to this cook it, spill it throw it, and.
- 15:42Speaker 3: Should I pull it out? It's on the bookshelf that's
- 15:44Speaker 3: behind me right there.
- 15:46Speaker 2: Oh, that won't be necessary.
- 15:49Speaker 1: I have it.
- 15:50Speaker 2: That will not be necessary. I have it right here.
- 15:53Speaker 2: I will be at the local. I'm going to go
- 15:56Speaker 2: to that bookshop and do some I love that. She
- 15:58Speaker 2: was like, I'll be purchasing me up front. Just takes
- 16:00Speaker 2: five of them. That would be me. Yes, So go
- 16:05Speaker 2: get your copy. Okay. So I love the sixth month later,
- 16:12Speaker 2: of course, we get a lot of flash forwards and
- 16:16Speaker 2: we're at the grave, I mean the grave, meaning we're
- 16:19Speaker 2: at the garden. The garden is not the grave. The
- 16:21Speaker 2: grave is the garden.
- 16:22Speaker 3: Ooh, the garden is the grave. The grave is the garden.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Left.
- 16:26Speaker 2: Yes, it's full circle. And clearly when Bertie is like
- 16:32Speaker 2: when they're introducing these characters in the garden, I did
- 16:35Speaker 2: love when she was like, what percentage is actually gardening? Bertie?
- 16:41Speaker 2: As I said, straight out of my mom's mouth, if
- 16:43Speaker 2: you join the real garden Club, there won't be any.
- 16:47Speaker 3: But Bertie knew, she knew. She's she's there in her
- 16:50Speaker 3: high heels and dressed like you know, she's going out
- 16:54Speaker 3: to a party or something. Everyone else I mean, they
- 16:56Speaker 3: still look super cute. They're in sun hats and looking cute,
- 16:59Speaker 3: but not high heels and a dress.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Bertie, right, the new Lubatons, if you will, Yes, and
- 17:06Speaker 2: Brett says something like, what's the worst that can happen
- 17:08Speaker 2: to her? And then of course six months later they're
- 17:11Speaker 2: bearing somebody which we don't know who it is. We
- 17:13Speaker 2: did see a sneaker at some point.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Yes, a new balance maybe, yes.
- 17:17Speaker 2: I think it was a new balance. And I, you know,
- 17:19Speaker 2: first I was like, what's the worst that could happen?
- 17:22Speaker 2: And I was like, oh, she's dead. Right, of course
- 17:25Speaker 2: we think it's Bertie. And then I was like, she
- 17:26Speaker 2: would not be wearing those sneakers, so maybe it can't be.
- 17:30Speaker 2: But then of course, flashboarding to Gary Mills, the salimy
- 17:36Speaker 2: real estate agent who is sleeping with all the ladies
- 17:39Speaker 2: in town. I thought it was him.
- 17:42Speaker 3: Yes, I did too. I was wondering about that. I
- 17:45Speaker 3: have all my list of like potential okay, victims, I
- 17:49Speaker 3: keep wondering, but I could save that for later.
- 17:51Speaker 2: Okay, let's take a real quick break and we'll be
- 17:53Speaker 2: right back. February check in, Do you have your shape wear?
- 17:57Speaker 2: February is the Month of Love, but let's make it
- 17:59Speaker 2: the Month of Shapewear, because there's nothing I love more
- 18:02Speaker 2: than treating myself to comfortable shapewear, and frankly, you should too.

- 19:36Speaker 2: talking gross Point Garden Society. Who are your lists of
- 19:39Speaker 2: potential victims? Let's get in.
- 19:40Speaker 3: Well, yeah, I'm wondering about Gary, of course, because he
- 19:47Speaker 3: clearly is hated by Catherine, who's the vice president of
- 19:53Speaker 3: the garden Club. I mean, she really takes a turn
- 19:56Speaker 3: on him. Just in this one episode. We go from her,
- 19:59Speaker 3: we think that he sees her, he really makes her
- 20:02Speaker 3: feel special and loved, and then within one episode she
- 20:07Speaker 3: goes to hating him and getting him totally busted for
- 20:10Speaker 3: all of his polyamorous ways. Is that? And I don't
- 20:13Speaker 3: know if I'm using polyamorous the right way.
- 20:15Speaker 2: It works for me. I love that, Like he's on
- 20:20Speaker 2: the bus going by and Bertie's like, that's him right there. Yeah,
- 20:24Speaker 2: because she sees the emerald and diamond that like the
- 20:29Speaker 2: tennis bracelet, which is very gross point, very gross point.
- 20:33Speaker 3: Absolutely the tennis bracelet. These people know growth point, Yeah,
- 20:38Speaker 3: they really do. That's what people give is gifts.
- 20:41Speaker 2: I gotta say, when all those ladies that ruse that
- 20:45Speaker 2: they put up, you know, when they finally Birdie and
- 20:49Speaker 2: Catherine come together and they bond over like I'm a mess. No,
- 20:52Speaker 2: I'm a mess. Love that, and they're like, well, he
- 20:55Speaker 2: shouldn't get away with this. And then of course the
- 20:57Speaker 2: awesome ruse when they're in that gorgeous walk in closet. Oh, beautiful, beautiful.
- 21:03Speaker 3: I was admiring the organization at all feel very home
- 21:07Speaker 3: edit to me, I'm like.
- 21:09Speaker 2: Looks great, great selling point. And then of course the
- 21:15Speaker 2: president or whomever of the real estate companies there was like,
- 21:20Speaker 2: pack your things and go, and then all the ladies
- 21:23Speaker 2: give him back those bracelets. Ladies, let's rethink this. We're
- 21:28Speaker 2: keeping the jewel.
- 21:29Speaker 3: Keep the bracelet, sell it on eBay if you don't
- 21:33Speaker 3: want it.
- 21:34Speaker 2: I mean, here's the only problem I had in this
- 21:37Speaker 2: episode was at the very end when Catherine dropped his
- 21:42Speaker 2: her bracelet. What should have been done is she should
- 21:45Speaker 2: have dropped it and then scooped up all the bracelets
- 21:47Speaker 2: and then left. That's what should have happened.
- 21:50Speaker 3: Yes, yes, oh that's a great point. I don't know
- 21:54Speaker 3: how much money she could have gotten. I've actually never
- 21:56Speaker 3: bought a tennis bracelet. But I'm going to go out
- 21:59Speaker 3: and just thrown them and say that's probably could have
- 22:01Speaker 3: been worth fifty thousand dollars.
- 22:03Speaker 2: I think you might be right, Megan. I'm going to
- 22:05Speaker 2: go with you and say those those bracelets were at
- 22:07Speaker 2: least ten k each each.
- 22:10Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, Oh I would.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Think they were like ten, don't you think?
- 22:14Speaker 3: Sure? Yeah, then I should go higher because there.
- 22:16Speaker 2: We're dealing with. Gary. They weren't real. What are we
- 22:19Speaker 2: talking about? They weren't real. It just dawned on me,
- 22:24Speaker 2: Gary Mills, he can't afford that.
- 22:27Speaker 3: Now, you're right, that was a lot of bracelets.
- 22:29Speaker 2: I feel like I have egg on my face right now.
- 22:32Speaker 3: I hear you're right out. You're right. I do too.
- 22:34Speaker 3: We both got egged, but he just pranked us.
- 22:37Speaker 2: He pranked us both. What am I thinking? Of course
- 22:39Speaker 2: they didn't keep on their fake Okay, so but what
- 22:43Speaker 2: I will say is I want to all the gross
- 22:46Speaker 2: Pointers listening, and those who are not that's fine too.
- 22:50Speaker 2: I worked at pong Gray's Jewelers up in the village.
- 22:53Speaker 2: I'm sorry the hill. Yes now it is Lalande, shout
- 22:59Speaker 2: out Cindy.
- 23:05Speaker 3: I can't not laugh at that every time.
- 23:09Speaker 2: So I know my way around a tennis bracelet over
- 23:11Speaker 2: in gp oh yea and my god.
- 23:15Speaker 3: So I have to ask about that. I'm doing a
- 23:18Speaker 3: side tangent here. But that jeweler I think I went.
- 23:22Speaker 3: I think the daughter was in if it's the same
- 23:25Speaker 3: last name now, Robin Pongress is who I'm thinking of. Probably, yes,
- 23:30Speaker 3: the daughter went to our high school as well. I
- 23:32Speaker 3: look at that.
- 23:33Speaker 2: I'm certain, yeah, okay. And I don't remember like the
- 23:38Speaker 2: boss's names.
- 23:40Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, I I just that all sounds familiar. This
- 23:43Speaker 3: is a lovely, lovely woman. I was going to say
- 23:45Speaker 3: young women. Well we're all young women now, so I'll
- 23:48Speaker 3: call us all that. But she is a veterinarian, I
- 23:51Speaker 3: believe now, Oh wow, but I think not in gross Point.
- 23:55Speaker 3: I'm not sure.
- 23:56Speaker 2: So okay, I'll circle back.
- 23:57Speaker 3: I'll get you this info.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Follow up on Matt Okay next week.
- 24:03Speaker 3: Yeah, happy to do that. Oh, let me tell you
- 24:09Speaker 3: my other my other ideas for suspects please.
- 24:12Speaker 2: Okay, Gary was at the top.
- 24:14Speaker 3: Of the list, but I do want to say that
- 24:17Speaker 3: I also am wondering about the mom and Peyton.
- 24:21Speaker 4: So there's this snag in there's this boy high school, Yes,
- 24:26Speaker 4: the shoes and he he's a high school boy and
- 24:29Speaker 4: he he gets a D which becomes an F on
- 24:33Speaker 4: a poem that he turns in and the poem is
- 24:36Speaker 4: just a rip off.
- 24:36Speaker 2: He plagiarized of Kendrick Lamar.
- 24:40Speaker 3: Yes, and the mom before the super yes, and she
- 24:46Speaker 3: is the mom comes in to speak with the teacher
- 24:48Speaker 3: who's one of our characters, Alice, and just is furious
- 24:51Speaker 3: that Alice would dare give her son a D on
- 24:54Speaker 3: the poetry, and they have it out. The situation escalates,
- 25:00Speaker 3: But this whole thing felt very gross. Point to me
- 25:02Speaker 3: side note of a mom who's like, no, you cannot
- 25:06Speaker 3: give my child a D even though he did plagiarize,
- 25:08Speaker 3: which she learns right then and there. It's still like, no,
- 25:12Speaker 3: my child is not getting a D.
- 25:14Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, he's going to Michigan whether you like it
- 25:17Speaker 2: or not.
- 25:18Speaker 3: That's right, and you need good grades. For that. So
- 25:21Speaker 3: the mother is, you know, we come to find out
- 25:24Speaker 3: she's this gross point woman who has built their family,
- 25:27Speaker 3: has contributed money to build the lacrosse field, the auditorium
- 25:31Speaker 3: and the robotics lab. I believe all these things. So
- 25:35Speaker 3: the principle is just like, you know, to the teacher,
- 25:38Speaker 3: you just got to deal with this family. You can't,
- 25:40Speaker 3: you can't do this.
- 25:41Speaker 2: That was Yeah, that's definitely one of those things where
- 25:45Speaker 2: you're like, this is definitely the real world you're dealing with.
- 25:48Speaker 2: You know, you're dealing with people who all over not
- 25:51Speaker 2: just in school, well, school's everywhere. Education. I'm sure it's
- 25:55Speaker 2: just so rampant how you just buy your way into
- 25:58Speaker 2: opportunities and how you can basically secure a spot and
- 26:04Speaker 2: what are they donating to you of m at this
- 26:06Speaker 2: point because they're laying the foundation. That is just like
- 26:09Speaker 2: it's crazy and certainly a call to how parenting can
- 26:16Speaker 2: be so terrible. And I loved that Alice's character called
- 26:19Speaker 2: out the mother. It's an f for you because you've
- 26:23Speaker 2: failed as a parent. You don't hold your child accountable,
- 26:27Speaker 2: you're not helping them be a decent human being in
- 26:32Speaker 2: this world. And not only that, but finding out that
- 26:36Speaker 2: he threatened her essentially and was like, hmm, karma, and
- 26:41Speaker 2: then took the little piece of paper off the dog
- 26:44Speaker 2: missing dog flyer.
- 26:46Speaker 3: Yes, yes, like did you read that as he for
- 26:50Speaker 3: sure did it?
- 26:52Speaker 2: Yeah? You did?
- 26:54Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 26:54Speaker 2: I did? Did you?
- 26:56Speaker 3: I couldn't tell. I couldn't tell if he was just
- 26:59Speaker 3: just be being super cruel to her or if he
- 27:03Speaker 3: did it for real.
- 27:04Speaker 2: I mean, we don't Yeah, I agree, we don't know.
- 27:07Speaker 2: But that certainly is the mystery of what they're going
- 27:10Speaker 2: to be unfolding, because they're gonna have to take us
- 27:12Speaker 2: on these twists and turns totally. But like, the dog
- 27:15Speaker 2: got shot in the park? And which park are we talking?
- 27:18Speaker 2: Because gross Point's got a lot of parks We've got
- 27:20Speaker 2: first of all, just so I mean the girls pointers
- 27:22Speaker 2: who are listening already. No, we got gross Pint Farms.
- 27:25Speaker 2: You have gross Point Shores, we have gross Point Park,
- 27:26Speaker 2: we have gross Point City. Am I missing one? Yes?
- 27:30Speaker 2: The farm?
- 27:31Speaker 3: Did you say shores? No?
- 27:33Speaker 2: Yeah, sure, arms, Farmers Shores, City Park.
- 27:38Speaker 3: What are we missing? Oh?
- 27:40Speaker 2: My gosh, woods, woods? Oh gosh, yes, sorry, woods.
- 27:46Speaker 3: How can I forget that I worked I worked in
- 27:48Speaker 3: the woods. Oh my gosh, I feel terrible.
- 27:50Speaker 2: Wow, oh my you really we're gonna get a lot
- 27:52Speaker 2: of like people are just gonna rate this podcast one star.
- 27:55Speaker 2: They're like, she didn't even remember the Woods.
- 27:58Speaker 3: Oh dear, oh my god, we just lost I don't know,
- 28:02Speaker 3: we we.
- 28:04Speaker 2: Lost three people from the Woods. Come back, Woods. We
- 28:07Speaker 2: love you Woods. My brother lives in the Woods.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Oh.
- 28:10Speaker 3: Yes, I worked at the AMC Woods. Oh, yes, I
- 28:15Speaker 3: can't believe I did that.
- 28:17Speaker 2: Megan Brano worked at the AMC Woods right there on
- 28:21Speaker 2: mac Avenue, right there, great theater.
- 28:26Speaker 3: Oh it was so great, it was so fun.
- 28:29Speaker 2: You worked in concessions. I did.
- 28:32Speaker 3: Yes, I loved that place and I watched so many
- 28:35Speaker 3: movies there. And how could I forget the Woods.
- 28:37Speaker 2: Oh, don't beat yourself up. You're really in a shame
- 28:40Speaker 2: spiral right now, and I don't want that for you. Also,
- 28:43Speaker 2: we need to mention that Jamie Moyer, friend of ours.
- 28:48Speaker 2: We got to have her on this at some point. Yes,
- 28:52Speaker 2: also worked at the AMC Woods Theater with you and
- 28:56Speaker 2: you guys reunited and reconnected right here in Los Angeles
- 28:59Speaker 2: and Art. Yes, very good friends. Now we're all besties.
- 29:03Speaker 2: So this is a very small world of entertainment.
- 29:07Speaker 3: It is, and gross point comes and follows you everywhere.
- 29:10Speaker 3: It's just awesome. Yeah.
- 29:12Speaker 2: Now, I got into Michigan for the summer.
- 29:21Speaker 3: A summer program, a two week summer program to.
- 29:24Speaker 2: Mop the floors and earn my keep. I went to
- 29:33Speaker 2: McComb first, right out of high school because I was
- 29:36Speaker 2: not prepared to do I did not know, like, I
- 29:39Speaker 2: did not plan ahead. So I went to McComb for
- 29:42Speaker 2: a year. I got my basics. Then I went to
- 29:46Speaker 2: U of M for the summer. From there, I decided
- 29:48Speaker 2: I wanted to go to acting school in New York City,
- 29:51Speaker 2: went to the I went to the American Academy Dramatic
- 29:55Speaker 2: Arts in New York. Then I kind of wrapped up
- 29:58Speaker 2: that came back to Detroit, went to Wayne State University.
- 30:06Speaker 3: That's where my dad taught. My dad was a professor there.
- 30:09Speaker 2: My god, that's right. Yes, yes, oh, Megan, this is unbelievable.
- 30:15Speaker 2: So he was there when I was there, obviously, yeah,
- 30:18Speaker 2: I think, because that was ninety No, wait, well it
- 30:22Speaker 2: was ninety five.
- 30:26Speaker 3: I forget what year he retired from Wayne. I think
- 30:29Speaker 3: he retired in ninety seven or ninety eight. So he
- 30:32Speaker 3: was there, yeah, yeah, probably, And he was he was
- 30:37Speaker 3: in the law school, So probably you didn't cross paths
- 30:40Speaker 3: with him unless you were studying some law in order.
- 30:45Speaker 3: Being study and concludes.
- 30:47Speaker 2: I wish I did. Trust me, I.
- 30:50Speaker 3: Was trying to set you up for that sound effect.
- 30:55Speaker 2: I love law and order. Oh my god, A love
- 30:57Speaker 2: that much. Who doesn't. Yes, So any way, that's just
- 31:00Speaker 2: my educate. But I did go to Michigan for summer.
- 31:03Speaker 2: I did take like, took a Shakespeare class, and I
- 31:06Speaker 2: took like a political science class. I think, just to
- 31:09Speaker 2: get more credits under my belt.
- 31:10Speaker 3: Wow, you went to you did a lot of schooling.
- 31:14Speaker 2: I did a lot of schooling.
- 31:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I went to one. I went to North Carolina.
- 31:20Speaker 3: I just left Michigan. You went to Chapel Hill, Chapel Hill.
- 31:23Speaker 3: I went to Chapel Hill, UNC Chapel Hill because I
- 31:25Speaker 3: just was looking for warm weather. That's how strategic I
- 31:28Speaker 3: was with my life.
- 31:29Speaker 2: But that is such a great school, Megan, and a
- 31:32Speaker 2: lot of comedians came out of there because of your
- 31:34Speaker 2: improv community.
- 31:36Speaker 3: Oh yes, I started the improv group at that school.
- 31:40Speaker 2: And Megan, you started it. Yes, I didn't know you
- 31:45Speaker 2: started it.
- 31:46Speaker 3: Yeah, it was. There were a lot of people. I
- 31:49Speaker 3: think one of our most well known alumni who was
- 31:52Speaker 3: there when I was there is a comedian named Flula
- 31:55Speaker 3: who's a German.
- 31:58Speaker 2: German.
- 31:58Speaker 3: You may have seen him in the which perfect too,
- 32:01Speaker 3: I think, yeah, and yeah, he's been in a lot
- 32:04Speaker 3: of things. He's a he's hilarious. But he and I
- 32:07Speaker 3: were in school together.
- 32:08Speaker 2: And you started the improv community. There is it still going?
- 32:12Speaker 3: Sure is?
- 32:12Speaker 2: Yeah, Megan, what badge of honor?
- 32:18Speaker 3: You're gonna say, what a bad thing to do?
- 32:20Speaker 2: What a bad thing to do?
- 32:22Speaker 4: Now?
- 32:22Speaker 2: What a legacy? And that is just so incredible that
- 32:25Speaker 2: you I mean that I should not be surprised. That's amazing.
- 32:28Speaker 3: Well, I you know again it all all roads lead
- 32:32Speaker 3: to Rome, all roads lead back to you, because I
- 32:34Speaker 3: never would have even been in improv at all if
- 32:36Speaker 3: it weren't for you.
- 32:38Speaker 2: Well, that's a hats off to Second Suburb, you know,
- 32:41Speaker 2: and that bringing it like Second City. You did Second
- 32:43Speaker 2: City in Chicago? Yeah, I did it in Detroit. I
- 32:47Speaker 2: went through and you know, well, like we said, we're
- 32:51Speaker 2: going to be injecting some of our experiences, but you know,
- 32:55Speaker 2: as entertainers, I did find it really interesting and fun
- 32:59Speaker 2: to see and her husband on the show being artists
- 33:05Speaker 2: in gross Point and her being a teacher being rejected
- 33:08Speaker 2: yet again from being a writer. She was, you got
- 33:11Speaker 2: a rejection form from the New Yorker, and her husband
- 33:13Speaker 2: is an artist. He's doing like, you know, pizza signs.
- 33:18Speaker 2: So I thought that the dinner with the parents was great.
- 33:21Speaker 2: I love seeing them be like years are rental is
- 33:26Speaker 2: available and you can stay in it for free.
- 33:29Speaker 3: Yes they want the grandchildren.
- 33:32Speaker 2: Oh yes, yes, yes, yes, and and that they were
- 33:35Speaker 2: like connections, connections, we can help you, and they're like,
- 33:39Speaker 2: we're not joining the country club, and I'm thinking, join
- 33:41Speaker 2: the country club. Get the connections. Stop being starving artists,
- 33:45Speaker 2: Like there is something to be said about like you
- 33:49Speaker 2: can be an authentic artist and also take a handout
- 33:53Speaker 2: for a job and do a fantastic job. Get in there.
- 33:57Speaker 3: Yes, I did agree with that so hard. And that's
- 34:00Speaker 3: the difference between being where I am in my life
- 34:03Speaker 3: right now and where they are. I think they're being
- 34:04Speaker 3: portrayed as I don't know, maybe like late twenties ish, Yeah,
- 34:08Speaker 3: the characters, and I mean at this point, I'm like,
- 34:11Speaker 3: you are a fool not to take any connections.
- 34:14Speaker 2: And it is so perfect for that. It's a great
- 34:18Speaker 2: story to tell about that age and what you think
- 34:20Speaker 2: that you know what you're doing. And yes, I mean,
- 34:23Speaker 2: and I've had my fair share of no opportunities, you know,
- 34:28Speaker 2: so like no one's handing their hand out to me,
- 34:32Speaker 2: going hey, if only you could just join us, We'll
- 34:35Speaker 2: give you a leg up here, let me give you
- 34:36Speaker 2: a boost. I would have taken it in a freaking heartbeat.
- 34:38Speaker 3: I know, I know, I mean, that is exactly right.
- 34:42Speaker 3: And I look at that in hindsight now at my
- 34:45Speaker 3: own life that I'm like, oh my gosh, I should
- 34:48Speaker 3: if I could go back, I should have just done
- 34:51Speaker 3: the family business for Pete's sake.
- 34:54Speaker 2: For Pete's sake meaning the family business being law.
- 35:00Speaker 3: Yes, yes, my brother followed suit. My sister in law
- 35:06Speaker 3: was in another field. And then she quickly realized that,
- 35:09Speaker 3: I don't know, five years into the marriage, this was foolish.
- 35:12Speaker 3: She just got to get in the family family business.
- 35:14Speaker 2: But Megan and I made our way to LA and
- 35:17Speaker 2: we were trying to make a cat us dressed up
- 35:20Speaker 2: as cats go viral.
- 35:22Speaker 3: You know. We we got to link that video. We
- 35:26Speaker 3: got a link that is it is one of the greatest.
- 35:29Speaker 3: We were on treadmills in cat suits.
- 35:34Speaker 2: We all have our own journeys, you know what I mean.
- 35:37Speaker 2: But let's also not you know, dig our own grave.
- 35:40Speaker 2: Let's give ourselves our own shout out. And that is this.
- 35:44Speaker 2: You and I live in Los Angeles and we've been
- 35:47Speaker 2: here for thirteen years plus and we are still here
- 35:50Speaker 2: and we're making a living and we are surviving and
- 35:52Speaker 2: we are thriving. That's right.
- 35:54Speaker 3: That is thank you, thank you. That is that is correct.
- 35:58Speaker 2: Now. I did love the mom's quote when she was like,
- 36:02Speaker 2: dreamers don't get far, they just get hurt. And there
- 36:07Speaker 2: is wisdom in that and there but there's also foolishness
- 36:12Speaker 2: in that line too, because yeah, you've got a dream,
- 36:15Speaker 2: got a manifest Yes, And I think there's definitely some
- 36:19Speaker 2: promise in that.
- 36:21Speaker 3: And that is from Nancy Travis. And she is a
- 36:25Speaker 3: little bit of a I think she's a good name
- 36:29Speaker 3: to have in this show.
- 36:30Speaker 1: She was.
- 36:32Speaker 3: That's the mom I think she was in So I
- 36:34Speaker 3: married an axe murderer, yes, I think most Yes, Yeah,
- 36:40Speaker 3: But she's awesome and she just looks great and she
- 36:42Speaker 3: just graves. I hope we see more of her because
- 36:44Speaker 3: I really I loved what she brought.
- 36:46Speaker 2: I loved it too, Megan. And also I really felt
- 36:49Speaker 2: like she has aged gracefully and as an actress. I
- 36:55Speaker 2: don't see like work on her face that was done. No, no,
- 36:59Speaker 2: and I love about it it me too.
- 37:01Speaker 3: She looks great, but it's not if she's done work.
- 37:04Speaker 3: Holler Nancy, because you we don't say amazing. Yeah, no,
- 37:08Speaker 3: she didn't overdo it. If she did it, and she's
- 37:11Speaker 3: very gross point looking, you know. Yes, the jewelry and
- 37:14Speaker 3: like the everything about it was great.
- 37:17Speaker 2: Loved being in front of the mac Avenue Garden Center
- 37:20Speaker 2: with Brett and Alice when when Brett had told her
- 37:24Speaker 2: that they found the dog's collar in the park, and
- 37:28Speaker 2: love that they were in front of the mac Avenue
- 37:30Speaker 2: Garden Center. So we do get another flash forward to
- 37:36Speaker 2: first rule of Garden Club is we all have each
- 37:38Speaker 2: other's backs. This is when Bertie's freaking out. We see
- 37:42Speaker 2: the car is there and they're like, what are we
- 37:44Speaker 2: going to do about this? We see later that they
- 37:46Speaker 2: set it on fire. We hear the phone going off.
- 37:50Speaker 2: How uh Brett got that phone out of there and
- 37:53Speaker 2: didn't scorge himself to depth. Yeah, he managed to get it.
- 37:59Speaker 2: And then eventually when they're in that diner and the diner,
- 38:03Speaker 2: can I say diner Coney Yes, they're getting the Coney's at.
- 38:09Speaker 3: You know, eight in the morning or something. Hilarious. The
- 38:11Speaker 3: waitress is like Orners coney Eats at eight in the morning.
- 38:16Speaker 3: It was great though. I love that. We used to
- 38:18Speaker 3: get Cony's all the time. That was so fun in
- 38:20Speaker 3: high school.
- 38:21Speaker 2: I know conyent. Yeah, and then Bertie disappears and she
- 38:25Speaker 2: takes the phone and then we don't see her later
- 38:28Speaker 2: until the end, like after they've had the Monaco they
- 38:33Speaker 2: which really popped off. It made a lot of money.
- 38:36Speaker 3: Yes, their best one ever. It's the fundraiser they're doing
- 38:39Speaker 3: for the garden club. So I don't know what your
- 38:41Speaker 3: mom would have to say about that, but this one,
- 38:44Speaker 3: if they've ever done a Monaco poker night, but this
- 38:47Speaker 3: one did exceedingly well.
- 38:49Speaker 2: Exceedingly well, so well that they can't They have the
- 38:53Speaker 2: funds to dig up the entire garden.
- 38:57Speaker 3: And they're gonna put you ay pond, a coy pond. Yeah,
- 39:01Speaker 3: and that was obviously going to cause some trouble.
- 39:04Speaker 2: Oh that's Megan. That's going to cause the biggest amount
- 39:06Speaker 2: of trouble because not only is the ground frozen, how
- 39:08Speaker 2: theyre going to dig up the body they already buried.
- 39:11Speaker 3: Right, I mean, this is a cliffhanger.
- 39:14Speaker 2: Cliffhanger, It's a cliffhanger. I did love the meeting about
- 39:21Speaker 2: before we even had the fundraiser, when when they were talking,
- 39:26Speaker 2: when the President's up there and she's like moment of
- 39:30Speaker 2: silence for Malli the Golden Retriever. And then it was
- 39:35Speaker 2: like someone who said, oh it was Alice. I don't
- 39:38Speaker 2: know whoever. Catherine was like, who would do such a thing.
- 39:41Speaker 2: And then Bertie says, try any bitch in the junior league.
- 39:46Speaker 3: Great line. I wrote that down too. I think I did.
- 39:49Speaker 3: I think in Growth Point there was a like a
- 39:52Speaker 3: junior league for juniors type thing like there was, and
- 39:56Speaker 3: I went to, oh, yeah, I was in it and
- 39:58Speaker 3: it I went to, So I don't. I'm trying to remember.
- 40:02Speaker 3: I must have repressed it because I think I went
- 40:04Speaker 3: to a couple meetings and I was going to say,
- 40:06Speaker 3: the way they set up the Garden Society meeting room,
- 40:10Speaker 3: I was like flashbacks too. When I went to some
- 40:12Speaker 3: of those meetings. It looked just like it. To me,
- 40:15Speaker 3: it looked the same. But yeah, I don't. I think
- 40:18Speaker 3: I didn't stick in it very long.
- 40:20Speaker 2: Mine was short lived because it was such a small
- 40:23Speaker 2: amount of time that I was in it. I think
- 40:25Speaker 2: I was like nominated. You have to be referred by
- 40:28Speaker 2: somebody else who's in it, like an older person, yes,
- 40:32Speaker 2: and so I was like ushered in. And so it
- 40:37Speaker 2: was only I think for one year, my senior year.
- 40:39Speaker 2: It had to have been something like that, because I
- 40:41Speaker 2: don't think everything part of say for a long time.
- 40:44Speaker 3: No same, so I I for some reason in my
- 40:46Speaker 3: mind I left it. But it might have just been
- 40:49Speaker 3: that it was only a short window.
- 40:50Speaker 2: Yeah, it had to have been. But I want to
- 40:52Speaker 2: say one thing that I just one thing for the
- 40:55Speaker 2: Junior League that I'll ever forget. I don't want to
- 40:58Speaker 2: get emotional, but it was the first time I've ever
- 41:00Speaker 2: had a cucumber sandwich, and I loved it so much.
- 41:05Speaker 2: And that's why I love it, really did. I was like,
- 41:08Speaker 2: cucumber sandwiches, This is the shit.
- 41:12Speaker 3: So this is so good, these little little bite sized sandwiches.
- 41:16Speaker 3: Who do you can eat a sandwich in one bite?
- 41:19Speaker 3: One little bite?
- 41:20Speaker 2: Butter and cucumber, I mean, or whatever it was. It
- 41:23Speaker 2: could have been cream cheese. I don't know what version
- 41:25Speaker 2: they did that day, but I loved it. And uh yeah,
- 41:29Speaker 2: so that was fun and so I love that line.
- 41:32Speaker 2: But when they're planning for it, and they were like
- 41:34Speaker 2: net night Jasmine for the bootineers, Village Chocolates are gonna
- 41:39Speaker 2: make the truffles into the shape of poker chips, and
- 41:44Speaker 2: then someone's like ooh, ooh, you know, so and so
- 41:48Speaker 2: is gonna do dice and cake pop dice. So I
- 41:52Speaker 2: was just living for these specifics. These are the specifics
- 41:55Speaker 2: that I want in a show like this.
- 41:57Speaker 3: Me too, And they nailed them. I really think they
- 41:59Speaker 3: nailed them.
- 42:00Speaker 2: This is giving housewives to me. This is giving real
- 42:02Speaker 2: housewives like these types of things, and that's what I like.
- 42:06Speaker 2: And I love the dark underbelly of it all of course,
- 42:09Speaker 2: me too.
- 42:09Speaker 3: And it's just fun that it keeps going forward. It's
- 42:12Speaker 3: not linear. We're going forward and backward in time. It
- 42:15Speaker 3: just keeps it fun and suspenseful. I really like that absolutely.
- 42:20Speaker 2: Bertie really really got Catherine in her place when she said, oh,
- 42:26Speaker 2: you're one of those you can't control your own life,
- 42:28Speaker 2: so you join a club like this to control everyone
- 42:30Speaker 2: else's and then a gasp, you know, he has a
- 42:33Speaker 2: nice insult to someone who's wound so tight and they
- 42:37Speaker 2: don't have their life under control, and it hits. It
- 42:39Speaker 2: hits with all of us really, quite frankly.
- 42:41Speaker 3: It hits it, really, it really did. It's like, oh, yeah,
- 42:45Speaker 3: that's me, I am that tightly one.
- 42:47Speaker 2: It's everyone in a club. I mean, it's every person
- 42:49Speaker 2: walking the earth right now. We can't control anything. Our
- 42:52Speaker 2: lives are out of control. The world is out of control.
- 42:54Speaker 2: So why not join a club and do what we
- 42:57Speaker 2: can for the love of God?
- 42:59Speaker 3: Yes, I mean, and I just love the tension between
- 43:01Speaker 3: the two of them, between Catherine and Birdie because that
- 43:03Speaker 3: whole exchange of like, well, then why did you ask
- 43:06Speaker 3: me for another idea? Why did you ask me to
- 43:08Speaker 3: speak my mind about what another potential idea could be
- 43:11Speaker 3: for this fundraiser if you're not going to listen to it.
- 43:13Speaker 3: And Catherine's like for next year, yeah, for next year,
- 43:17Speaker 3: you know, next year?
- 43:21Speaker 2: He did.
- 43:22Speaker 3: I also wanted to touch on, yes, the Birdie relationship
- 43:27Speaker 3: with the boy that she's given the scholarship to, which
- 43:29Speaker 3: I thought was deal. That was deep. It was a
- 43:32Speaker 3: deep cut. Yeah, I was not at all expecting that
- 43:37Speaker 3: that was her son. I did not see that.
- 43:40Speaker 2: I agree, that was a great, great twist and this
- 43:43Speaker 2: is the pilot episode, so they really have to throw
- 43:47Speaker 2: the kitchen sink in. They have got to pilot up
- 43:51Speaker 2: and they did that just that, and I thought, oh, yeah,
- 43:53Speaker 2: that this pilot EPP was excellent. They had to just
- 43:58Speaker 2: lay everything out there. They had to flash forward. He
- 44:00Speaker 2: had to give us what they needed to give us
- 44:02Speaker 2: to make this a successful show. And that really took
- 44:06Speaker 2: it to a point where I thought was so relatable.
- 44:08Speaker 2: And you didn't know because I mean we thought it
- 44:10Speaker 2: was like gonna be a cleft palate, you know, charitable thing. Yes,
- 44:15Speaker 2: and it was like, now it's a scholarship to just
- 44:17Speaker 2: any one person. And so this was great that the
- 44:22Speaker 2: reveal was, hey, you said there was going to be
- 44:24Speaker 2: no contact yep.
- 44:27Speaker 3: And that the dad, I mean, how setting up for
- 44:30Speaker 3: so much trouble. The dad that adopted father is a cop.
- 44:34Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, this is going to lead to trouble.
- 44:36Speaker 3: You know, this is for sure going to lead to trouble.
- 44:38Speaker 3: I loved that set up and foreshadowing.
- 44:41Speaker 2: I did too, And I wonder if in the at
- 44:45Speaker 2: the end of the day, will that cop be the
- 44:48Speaker 2: one who actually covers up for them, because that is
- 44:52Speaker 2: if if it weren't for her, they wouldn't have their son.
- 44:55Speaker 2: Maybe he's going to do her a solid in the future.
- 44:57Speaker 3: What do you think, Oh my gosh, you called it
- 44:59Speaker 3: right here.
- 45:00Speaker 2: I love.
- 45:02Speaker 3: That.
- 45:03Speaker 2: And also and really to just try to predict, just
- 45:07Speaker 2: go off the wall and say, if Peyton is like
- 45:11Speaker 2: this cool, he's like the quintessential like cool douchebag kid
- 45:16Speaker 2: that gets away with everything bully. And what if her
- 45:20Speaker 2: son is the same age and they're in the same
- 45:22Speaker 2: grade and you can tell he's kind of like off
- 45:24Speaker 2: the beaten path. He's like dope, you know, he's kind
- 45:26Speaker 2: of dope. Dope, he's dope. No, he's he's causing trouble
- 45:31Speaker 2: in other ways, but he's not he's not bullying people.
- 45:33Speaker 2: He's just living like a different kind of life. Yeah.
- 45:36Speaker 2: What if Peyton did something to that kid? Yeah, and
- 45:40Speaker 2: what if Peyton is the one that they killed and
- 45:44Speaker 2: then the cop finds out and he's like, well, he
- 45:47Speaker 2: did something to my son and you're also my son's
- 45:50Speaker 2: birth mother, so now I'm gonna help you cover this up.
- 45:53Speaker 3: I love this and I hope this is what happens.
- 45:56Speaker 2: Do you have any predictions.
- 45:58Speaker 3: That I love that prediction and the I think that's
- 46:01Speaker 3: the best one because it includes the whole cast. My
- 46:04Speaker 3: other prediction involved Connor, the stepdad, who clearly you know,
- 46:10Speaker 3: is after Brett, the very nice man who's in the
- 46:14Speaker 3: Guarden society and like trying to dig up all. We
- 46:16Speaker 3: also get the hint at the end that he's going
- 46:18Speaker 3: to make his life hell to try to take his
- 46:20Speaker 3: kids from him, like a custody battle. Yeah, and I
- 46:23Speaker 3: was like, Oh, could that be someone that they go after.
- 46:27Speaker 3: My problem with that is that it's not all inclusive
- 46:30Speaker 3: of the cast the way what you just predicted would
- 46:32Speaker 3: be everyone.
- 46:35Speaker 2: I don't know. I love that too. I love that too.
- 46:38Speaker 2: Obviously there's a burgeoning romance between Alis and Brett, let's
- 46:41Speaker 2: get real.
- 46:42Speaker 3: Yes, definitely, definitely, the way they were picking leaves out
- 46:46Speaker 3: of each other's hair after the cover of the Garden. Yes,
- 46:51Speaker 3: the incident. The incident.
- 46:55Speaker 2: Well, Megan, why don't we quickly do our flower quiz?
- 46:59Speaker 2: Should we? Yeah? We do have to wrap this up, Okay, Well,
- 47:03Speaker 2: each so we each have a different quiz and we're
- 47:06Speaker 2: going to answer these as we go. I'll start with
- 47:08Speaker 2: my first question and I'll answer it, and then Meghan,
- 47:11Speaker 2: you'll start with your first question. Okay, all right, it
- 47:14Speaker 2: says for me my best friend describes me as okay.
- 47:17Speaker 2: First one is ambitious. I'm always determined to climb to
- 47:19Speaker 2: the top rung with corporate ladder, head up to the pta,
- 47:22Speaker 2: run the charity, bizarre, nothing stands in my way. The
- 47:25Speaker 2: second one is funny. I'm always good for a laugh
- 47:27Speaker 2: and a night out on the town. Third is loyal.
- 47:30Speaker 2: I'm the first call after a breakup. A friend needs me. Smart,
- 47:33Speaker 2: I can solve a problem. I'm gonna go with funny,
- 47:35Speaker 2: I have to. I would go with ambitious. What do
- 47:39Speaker 2: you think, Megan, would you describe me as ambitious? Are funny?
- 47:42Speaker 3: Funny all the way?
- 47:43Speaker 2: Okay, all right, I'm moving on to my next question.
- 47:46Speaker 2: You go with your first what's your first question?
- 47:48Speaker 3: Would you describe your heart as being more guarded or
- 47:51Speaker 3: more open? My options are my heart is always open.
- 47:55Speaker 3: I can be guarded about relationships. I'm guarded about everything.
- 47:58Speaker 3: I think my heart is more tender than it is
- 48:01Speaker 3: guarded or opens. I guess I think I'll go I
- 48:07Speaker 3: can be guarded.
- 48:09Speaker 2: Yeah, you can be guarded, but yeah, you're also tender
- 48:13Speaker 2: and open. I think you should go with your instinct
- 48:17Speaker 2: on the guarded. Okay, okay, okay. The natural element I
- 48:20Speaker 2: identify with most is earth. I'm steadfast and love to nurture.
- 48:24Speaker 2: Just call me mother nature, fire. I have a passion
- 48:26Speaker 2: for life and on occasion, a red hot temper. I
- 48:29Speaker 2: am Italian Air. I can go with the flow, but
- 48:32Speaker 2: I'm strong when it warrants water. I keep my cool
- 48:35Speaker 2: under pressure, but I'm not afraid to make waves. Oooh,
- 48:39Speaker 2: I think I think I'm water.
- 48:42Speaker 3: I love that. I agree.
- 48:44Speaker 2: Okay, Well, how about next question for you? Okay?
- 48:47Speaker 3: Do you tend to take criticism to heart and let
- 48:49Speaker 3: it upset you? I don't take a whole lot personally guilty.
- 48:53Speaker 3: I take personal stuff to heart. It really depends on
- 48:56Speaker 3: who's criticizing me. Definitely, it depends on who is criticizing me.
- 48:59Speaker 2: Ah, good, good answer, Good answer for sure. The book
- 49:02Speaker 2: on my shelf I reach for again and again is
- 49:05Speaker 2: any of C. S. Lewis books. I love theology. Who
- 49:08Speaker 2: is the time for books? I'm catching up on the
- 49:10Speaker 2: news and Instagram via my smartphone? Anything by David Sidaris.
- 49:14Speaker 2: There's nothing better than a good laugh out loud page
- 49:16Speaker 2: Hener Pride and Prejudice. I root for mister Darcy and
- 49:19Speaker 2: Elizabeth Bennett every time. Boy, I'm between David Sidaris and
- 49:22Speaker 2: pride and prejudice.
- 49:23Speaker 3: Ah oh, is a tough one.
- 49:27Speaker 2: That's tough because you know, really, it's typically like it's
- 49:31Speaker 2: neither of these. But I'm gonna go pride and prejudice.
- 49:37Speaker 2: I'm going pride and prejudice.
- 49:38Speaker 3: Okay, I gotta go pride and prejudice. Okay, Come Megan,
- 49:40Speaker 3: mister Darcy, I don't know if that's pride and prejudice,
- 49:42Speaker 3: but is it?
- 49:43Speaker 2: Yes?
- 49:43Speaker 3: It is. How much sugarcoating do you need when you
- 49:47Speaker 3: get bad news? None? Give it to me straight. Tact
- 49:49Speaker 3: is necessary, but that's all I honestly don't know. I'm
- 49:52Speaker 3: a little sensitive. I'm gonna go with tact is necessary,
- 49:55Speaker 3: but that's all.
- 49:56Speaker 2: That's good. One of my biggest strengths is my ability
- 49:59Speaker 2: to defend and win an argument. Perry Mason watch out,
- 50:02Speaker 2: make others laugh and feel comfortable. Tonight show could be
- 50:04Speaker 2: my next gig. Help others through their problems. The world
- 50:07Speaker 2: always needs another Dear Abbey, solve problems, make things run
- 50:10Speaker 2: more efficiently. In the future. I'm Martha Steward. I'm going
- 50:12Speaker 2: with the first No, I'm going with the second one,
- 50:14Speaker 2: make others laugh and feel comfortable. Tonight shows could be
- 50:17Speaker 2: my next gigs.
- 50:18Speaker 3: Oh I love that.
- 50:19Speaker 2: Okay.
- 50:20Speaker 3: My next one is what's your personal dating pet? Peeve
- 50:23Speaker 3: and my options are someone with no ambition, someone who's
- 50:26Speaker 3: overly jealous, someone who acts like they know everything, or
- 50:29Speaker 3: someone who is always on their phone. I have to
- 50:32Speaker 3: do the phone.
- 50:32Speaker 2: One nice good call, good call, put it down, put
- 50:37Speaker 2: it down, put it down. At a party, I am
- 50:39Speaker 2: typically blooming where I'm planted, sticking close to a small
- 50:44Speaker 2: circle of friends, a wallflower, watching the clock, centerpiece. I'm
- 50:48Speaker 2: always the life of party, the arranger. I'm never in
- 50:51Speaker 2: my element more than when I'm the hostess. I mean,
- 50:53Speaker 2: I'm the centerpiece. Let's be real, okay, Megans, thank you.
- 50:58Speaker 3: What is the best source of dating advice for you? Books?
- 51:01Speaker 3: My best friend, my intuition, online articles are blog posts.
- 51:06Speaker 3: I'm definitely going with best friend.
- 51:07Speaker 2: M Yes, yes, good, good, good stuff. I love a
- 51:10Speaker 2: day when I can take a long walk in the woods,
- 51:13Speaker 2: and okay, I can't. I can't even finish reading that.
- 51:15Speaker 2: Check off every last box of my lengthy to do lists.
- 51:18Speaker 2: Spend hours prepping the flowers and many for my best
- 51:20Speaker 2: friend's birthday sore lounge on the sofa. Okay, I'm check
- 51:24Speaker 2: off every last box of my lengthly to do list. Duh.
- 51:27Speaker 3: I immediately responded to that one. I love that. This
- 51:30Speaker 3: is my last question on my quiz. It says, finally,
- 51:33Speaker 3: what is your worst quality? I am naive, I am bossy,
- 51:38Speaker 3: I am very emotional. I am dramatic. I'm gonna go
- 51:40Speaker 3: with I am dramatic. That's a too I exaggerate. I'm irish.
- 51:45Speaker 3: I very much exaggerate.
- 51:46Speaker 2: That is me.
- 51:48Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, okay, it served me up with my flower.
- 51:51Speaker 2: Oh what is it?
- 51:52Speaker 3: What is it hilarious? Because this is the one that
- 51:56Speaker 3: they all joked about. I don't know. I watched it
- 51:59Speaker 3: behind the scene clip on the website. Yes, and a
- 52:02Speaker 3: bunch of them did bits on you know. Every cast
- 52:05Speaker 3: person was like, what flower? Are you? Okay, and a
- 52:07Speaker 3: lot of people did joke saying sunflower. But that is
- 52:09Speaker 3: what I actually got. It's a sun Gosh.
- 52:11Speaker 2: I love you.
- 52:12Speaker 3: You put your friends in family first. You're optimistic and
- 52:15Speaker 3: a dreamer. Your presence can light up the room.
- 52:18Speaker 2: Oh that's actually so dead on. That is perfect, thank you,
- 52:25Speaker 2: that is so perfect. Thank you.
- 52:28Speaker 3: Okay, we got to finish yours.
- 52:29Speaker 2: Okay, I have two more. The famous person who personifies
- 52:32Speaker 2: the qualities I look foremost in a partner or Bill Gates,
- 52:34Speaker 2: Oprah Winfrey and entrepreneur. Spirit makes my pulse race and
- 52:38Speaker 2: a hefty bank account doesn't hurt. George Clooney, Jennifer Lawrence,
- 52:41Speaker 2: good looks with a sense of humor, Yes please, John Stewart,
- 52:44Speaker 2: Lupita Nungoyo. No doubt these two have smarts to spare.
- 52:49Speaker 2: Roger Freederer, Kate Middleton, consistency, grace, strength, strength always wins
- 52:53Speaker 2: my heart. Good looks with a sense of humor, yes please.
- 53:00Speaker 2: And lastly, the crayon I pull out of the box
- 53:04Speaker 2: first red, green, blue, yellow, red from lipstick to the soles,
- 53:12Speaker 2: Leubaton shoes, Green, earthy, sage, preppy palette. I mean, I
- 53:16Speaker 2: love green. Green is definitely one of my favorite colors.
- 53:19Speaker 2: I'm going green. Yeah, okay. So a quote, oh one more,
- 53:24Speaker 2: a quote which sums up my outlook on life. Be pretty,
- 53:28Speaker 2: if you can, be witty, if you must be gracious,

- 53:46Speaker 3: or the third. Yeah, you say yes or figure out
- 53:50Speaker 3: so gracious.

- 54:19Speaker 2: up your surroundings and make even perfect strangers feel perfectly easy.
