- 0:02Speaker 1: On today's episode of our summer series, A Very Outspoken Christmas,
- 0:06Speaker 1: we're joined by the talented Leah Edsinas. Now, this is
- 0:09Speaker 1: a really fun chat and will make you feel extra Christmassy.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Let's get into the episode.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Is there any other rumours that you've heard or seen
- 0:19Speaker 1: online that you're like, that is just so crazy, I
- 0:21Speaker 1: want to set the record straight?
- 0:23Speaker 3: That me and Kayla hate each other. That's the biggest one.
- 0:26Speaker 3: It's the weirdest thing. They're like, oh, they could never
- 0:28Speaker 3: get along with me. Kayla's like... They're like, my dad,
- 0:33Speaker 3: he says stiffness. And I'm like, what the fuck? Our
- 0:36Speaker 3: entire 30 years, like my past 30 years on this earth,
- 0:38Speaker 3: I've said stiffness and they were just going to switch
- 0:40Speaker 3: up on us now.
- 0:41Speaker 1: There's one rumour I remember hearing and it was like,
- 0:44Speaker 1: Kayla and Leah's mum have to go to the shop
- 0:46Speaker 1: to buy them Boost bars because they can't be seen
- 0:49Speaker 1: purchasing chocolate.
- 0:49Speaker 3: People are insane. That's the weirdest thing I've ever heard.
- 0:53Speaker 3: Who gets a Boost bar anyway? I think at the start,
- 0:58Speaker 3: you know, my parents were like, no way. Why would
- 1:00Speaker 3: the Daily Mail be writing this? Why would they be?
- 1:03Speaker 3: Who told them this? And we all just learn to
- 1:06Speaker 3: like 99.999% of the stuff that goes online is absolute trash.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Like it's such, it's just full lies.
- 1:11Speaker 1: So thank you so much for joining us on Outspoken.
- 1:17Speaker 1: We have previously been roasted by our listeners for pronouncing
- 1:21Speaker 1: your last name wrong, which is very hypocritical of us
- 1:23Speaker 1: considering our last name is Torba. Can you please put
- 1:26Speaker 1: an end to our argument.
- 1:28Speaker 2: For once and for all?
- 1:29Speaker 1: Well, firstly, Leah, I feel like we should maybe say
- 1:32Speaker 1: how we say your last name and you tell us
- 1:34Speaker 1: if it's correct.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Is it It's Sinus?
- 1:37Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 1:41Speaker 3: You got it right. So whoever's roasting you, it means
- 1:44Speaker 3: to just hang on for a sec because, yeah, a
- 1:46Speaker 3: lot of people say It's Sinus. I don't know. But
- 1:49Speaker 3: it's definitely It's Sinus. So you're right.
- 1:52Speaker 2: See, we used to say It's.
- 1:54Speaker 1: It's Stenis and then we learned it was yeah and
- 1:57Speaker 1: then yeah but yeah a lot of our Facebook group
- 2:00Speaker 1: are like you guys don't pronounce it right like listen
- 2:02Speaker 1: to this and there was like a really nitpicking disagreement
- 2:06Speaker 1: online about it do you get people coming up to
- 2:08Speaker 1: you and telling you how your name should be pronounced
- 2:10Speaker 1: like is that ever.
- 2:11Speaker 3: But you know what it's actually it's actually really funny
- 2:13Speaker 3: within our own household we already have an argument so
- 2:16Speaker 3: like my dad who it's his last name obviously We say,
- 2:19Speaker 3: he says, it's in us. I'm like, what the fuck?
- 2:22Speaker 3: Our entire 30 years, like my entire 30 years on
- 2:24Speaker 3: this earth, I say, it's in us. And they were
- 2:26Speaker 3: just going to switch up on us now. So now
- 2:27Speaker 3: we're literally, dad's like, it's in us. I'm like, no,
- 2:30Speaker 3: it's not. It's in us. We've never said that. So like,
- 2:33Speaker 3: we are literally arguing. So who knows really.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Just having an identity crisis.
- 2:38Speaker 3: Yeah so however you want to say it really we
- 2:40Speaker 3: can't even agree so do you.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Know what it's it's so exciting to actually have a
- 2:45Speaker 1: fellow Adelaide girl on the show like we love what
- 2:48Speaker 1: you are doing and but we're devastated to hear that
- 2:50Speaker 1: you're no longer officially in Adelaide anymore why the move
- 2:54Speaker 1: and and are you enjoying the Gold Coast just as
- 2:56Speaker 1: much as Adelaide.
- 2:58Speaker 3: Yeah do you know what it's Yeah, it's a crazy, honestly,
- 3:02Speaker 3: the weirdest thing that I, six months ago, you could
- 3:04Speaker 3: not have told me that we were leaving. I was like,
- 3:06Speaker 3: no way, no way, no way. Like my sister moved, obviously,
- 3:08Speaker 3: like over a year and a half ago now, maybe more.
- 3:11Speaker 3: And I was like a dead note, like not going
- 3:12Speaker 3: to happen, not moving, blah, blah, blah. But we spent
- 3:16Speaker 3: a lot of time up here, obviously, because my sister
- 3:17Speaker 3: and I are very close. So we came up here
- 3:19Speaker 3: like weeks at a time. We stay in the same house.
- 3:21Speaker 3: We just, honestly, when I say stars aligned, like stars aligned,
- 3:25Speaker 3: Mitch and I had like to make a decision whether
- 3:27Speaker 3: we were going to renovate or sell our house. And
- 3:30Speaker 3: if we were going to renovate, it's going to take
- 3:31Speaker 3: a while, whether we like, do we just move? Do
- 3:33Speaker 3: we stay? Do we whatever? And we just had this
- 3:36Speaker 3: massive conversation as a family, like Kayla and us. And
- 3:39Speaker 3: we were just like, you know, I have never in
- 3:41Speaker 3: my life, my family house, I went to primary school
- 3:44Speaker 3: two streets away, high school three streets away. Mitch and
- 3:47Speaker 3: I lived a street away from that. I've been in
- 3:50Speaker 3: this little like, I've never gone anywhere. I've never done anything.
- 3:53Speaker 3: I've never lived anywhere else. I've never traveled properly. Like
- 3:55Speaker 3: I've just really in my little bubble, right? And we,
- 3:59Speaker 3: our supplement business, all of our suppliers are up here.
- 4:01Speaker 3: So it's a lot easier business wise up here. And
- 4:04Speaker 3: I just thought, you know what? Like Gigi's still young.
- 4:06Speaker 3: She's two and a half. We don't have to sell
- 4:08Speaker 3: anywhere for school. We can just, if it's like now
- 4:11Speaker 3: or never. Right. And we just decided, we're like, you
- 4:14Speaker 3: know what? The worst, the worst that can happen is
- 4:16Speaker 3: we just come on. Like we just, there's no difference.
- 4:19Speaker 3: So like we said to ourselves, I will give us
- 4:20Speaker 3: a year just to try. And if we don't like it,
- 4:22Speaker 3: we'll go home. We love Adelaide. So we'll just see.
- 4:25Speaker 3: And yeah, We love it. It's an amazing growth change
- 4:29Speaker 3: for us. Wild, isn't it?
- 4:31Speaker 1: And Gold Coast people, I feel like they're quite similar
- 4:34Speaker 1: to Adelaideans. They're a bit more chilled and, yeah.
- 4:38Speaker 3: No one cares about anything. Yeah, and I always said, oh,
- 4:41Speaker 3: you know, people on the Gold Coast, they don't wear
- 4:42Speaker 3: any clothes, but when you're here, I get it. It's hot.
- 4:46Speaker 3: You don't want to wear clothes. It's too hot up here.
- 4:48Speaker 3: I get it. But, yeah, chill out.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Is it true that you guys, when you were living
- 4:52Speaker 1: in Adelaide, it was like your mum and dad were
- 4:55Speaker 1: on the same street, Kayla was on the same street?
- 4:58Speaker 1: Were you that close or was that just a bit
- 4:59Speaker 1: of a rumour? Your grandparents down the road?
- 5:01Speaker 3: No, not the same street but very like we were
- 5:03Speaker 3: literally like when my parents, it was like two streets
- 5:06Speaker 3: to Kayla. We were on an adjacent street to Kayla
- 5:08Speaker 3: so we were on the street over and then And
- 5:10Speaker 3: Jay's mum and sister were on the street over that.
- 5:13Speaker 3: So like that way. And then my grandparents were a
- 5:14Speaker 3: minute drive away, like very, very close. Like walkable distance
- 5:19Speaker 3: within like two minutes. So it was great.
- 5:21Speaker 1: That must have been helpful at Christmas time because, you know,
- 5:25Speaker 1: you could go, would you guys all go to your parents'
- 5:27Speaker 1: house the morning of or how would that all work
- 5:29Speaker 1: being so close?
- 5:31Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, pretty much. We'd just go straight there and
- 5:33Speaker 3: all the kids, everything there, everybody just pack up and
- 5:36Speaker 3: take everything there. It's always that mum. It's always the
- 5:38Speaker 3: mum and dad.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:39Speaker 2: How does your husband feel about that?
- 5:41Speaker 1: Cause his parents just as close by, they just three
- 5:43Speaker 1: streets down or?
- 5:45Speaker 3: No, they're like a 20 minute drive, which in our
- 5:48Speaker 3: world is like, Oh my God, 20 minutes drive.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Okay.
- 5:50Speaker 3: Um, but no, they, so we, they always do, they
- 5:53Speaker 3: do like, you know, different Christmases on different, different families.
- 5:55Speaker 3: Cause he's not, Mitch is an only child. So, um,
- 5:58Speaker 3: for us, like it's a big fat great Christmas. And
- 6:00Speaker 3: for him, it was like something a little bit smaller.
- 6:02Speaker 3: So he thinks it's hectic and, but he's grown to
- 6:06Speaker 3: love it.
- 6:06Speaker 1: It's So is he just like the main character from
- 6:09Speaker 1: My Big Fat Greek Wedding?
- 6:10Speaker 2: I can't remember his name, the guy that rocks.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Off in his boat.
- 6:12Speaker 3: He is Ian. Yeah, Ian. I didn't mention Ian.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Absolutely. How do Greek Christmases compare?
- 6:19Speaker 1: Because I've often said to some of my Greek and
- 6:21Speaker 1: Italian friends, I actually wish that I was born into
- 6:25Speaker 1: that because you guys just seem to do.
- 6:27Speaker 2: It so much better.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Like there's seven course meals and is that, is it
- 6:31Speaker 1: just the best?
- 6:33Speaker 3: It's so good, honestly. And, like, this year is going
- 6:35Speaker 3: to be just the same. Like, all of our stuff
- 6:37Speaker 3: is just very much, like, anyone can come. It doesn't
- 6:40Speaker 3: matter who is coming, like, friends, family, neighbours. Like, it
- 6:43Speaker 3: doesn't matter. Like, there's never, like, an invite list. Like,
- 6:45Speaker 3: we just send out a big text saying, like, we're
- 6:48Speaker 3: doing Christmas. This is what time it's on. Like, rock
- 6:50Speaker 3: up if you want. Like, and that's how it works
- 6:52Speaker 3: in our family. We never have, like... We have a
- 6:54Speaker 3: sit-down time where everyone, like, sits and eats, but most
- 6:56Speaker 3: of the time there's shit flinging around everywhere. Like, there's, like, there's,
- 7:00Speaker 3: you know, you got to sit up and dance at
- 7:01Speaker 3: the start and there's people picking. We all get tongs
- 7:04Speaker 3: and we pick the lamb off the spit, like, as
- 7:05Speaker 3: we're eating it. It's just so much fun. It's all
- 7:08Speaker 3: about whoever comes, like, and we're just all just hanging out.
- 7:11Speaker 1: And is there a bit of pressure for you to
- 7:13Speaker 1: produce the goods? Because obviously you're such an amazing cook.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Are you sort of, like, is there particular tasks that
- 7:20Speaker 1: you get given?
- 7:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I get given most. Most of the stuff I
- 7:25Speaker 3: get given. It's usually, like, me, mum and Mia are
- 7:28Speaker 3: usually doing the most. And then, like, you know, the
- 7:30Speaker 3: guys are outside on the barbecue. We're inside just, like,
- 7:33Speaker 3: getting everything ready. But, like I said, like, it's very free-flowing.
- 7:36Speaker 3: So it's kind of like, oh, do we feel like
- 7:37Speaker 3: eating some squid now? Great, let's go make it. Do
- 7:39Speaker 3: we feel like doing it? Like, it's just very cruisy. But, yeah,
- 7:42Speaker 3: I think my mum would have the biggest role because
- 7:43Speaker 3: she does all the shopping. I don't want to do
- 7:45Speaker 3: any of that. But I 100% will cook all day.
- 7:47Speaker 3: But I enjoy it. I love it.
- 7:49Speaker 1: I remember, this is so Adelaide, but we wanted to
- 7:52Speaker 1: ask you about some rumours that keep floating around about
- 7:55Speaker 1: yourself and Kayla. There was one I remember hearing and
- 7:57Speaker 1: it was like, Kayla and Leah's mum have to go
- 8:00Speaker 1: to the shop to buy them Boost Bars because they
- 8:02Speaker 1: can't be seen purchasing chocolate. I think this was like
- 8:05Speaker 1: way back in the, you know, in the day of
- 8:07Speaker 1: the bikini body guide.
- 8:08Speaker 2: That was one rumour I remember. And I was like,
- 8:11Speaker 2: surely that is not the case.
- 8:14Speaker 3: People are insane. That's the weirdest thing I've ever heard.
- 8:16Speaker 3: Who gets a Boost Bar anyway? Boost is the football.
- 8:21Speaker 3: If I was to send mum to get me anything,
- 8:23Speaker 3: it would be something ridiculous. But we would buy our
- 8:26Speaker 3: own chocolate. Yeah. Definitely would.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Yeah, it just seemed like there were urban legends about
- 8:32Speaker 1: your family because everyone couldn't believe that there was some,
- 8:35Speaker 1: you know, a family that was so successful out of Adelaide,
- 8:37Speaker 1: which is a little bit sad. Like we're really downplaying
- 8:39Speaker 1: Adelaide here. Is there any other rumours that you've heard
- 8:43Speaker 1: or seen online that you're like, that is just so crazy,
- 8:46Speaker 1: I want to set the record straight?
- 8:48Speaker 3: That me and Kayla had each other. That's the biggest one.
- 8:51Speaker 3: It's the weirdest thing. They're like, oh, they could never
- 8:53Speaker 3: get along with me and Kayla. Yeah.
- 8:55Speaker 4: In what world like that is so weird like people
- 8:58Speaker 4: say things all the time we just laugh but it's
- 9:00Speaker 4: like that is so random oh like you know Leah
- 9:04Speaker 4: just like you know I don't even know Leah hates Kayla,
- 9:06Speaker 4: Kayla hates Leah because she's so mean.
- 9:08Speaker 3: I'm like Kelly is mean. She's mean to me. I'm
- 9:11Speaker 3: mean to her. We bully each other. That's just normal.
- 9:13Speaker 2: I'm like, yeah, I'm like, dude, you need to.
- 9:15Speaker 3: Put some makeup on. You look like shit. And she's like, yeah,
- 9:20Speaker 3: all right. And then hangs up on me and then
- 9:21Speaker 3: she'll call me and tell me I need to do
- 9:22Speaker 3: my hair. Like there's literally sisters. Unless you have a sister,
- 9:25Speaker 3: you won't get it.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Yeah, these are the people that don't have siblings at all.
- 9:29Speaker 3: Literally. I'm like, I am a bully.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Well, I think it's like a specific sister thing, though, because, like,
- 9:37Speaker 1: people don't get it the way we speak to each
- 9:39Speaker 1: other and you can have an argument and literally two
- 9:42Speaker 1: seconds later be over it and be like oh can
- 9:44Speaker 1: I borrow that of yours like our partners are like
- 9:47Speaker 1: what is going on weren't you just arguing with her
- 9:49Speaker 1: two seconds ago you're like yeah.
- 9:51Speaker 3: Like yeah and then or like Mitch would be like
- 9:52Speaker 3: oh you know like you know if he says anything
- 9:54Speaker 3: about Kayla I'm like I beg your pardon like you
- 9:56Speaker 3: can't say that I can say that but no one
- 9:59Speaker 3: else in this room can call her any names like
- 10:01Speaker 3: that is.
- 10:01Speaker 1: So funny talking about kayla i really enjoy hearing you
- 10:06Speaker 1: make cameos on her podcast and there was one episode
- 10:08Speaker 1: where you were talking about how you get compared a
- 10:11Speaker 1: lot and also talking about the trolling that you have
- 10:14Speaker 1: received which is just awful how do you deal with
- 10:17Speaker 1: that type of negativity.
- 10:19Speaker 3: Honestly, like I would say the last year has been
- 10:21Speaker 3: really good. Like I've really learned to just, you know,
- 10:24Speaker 3: shut it out. Honestly, like negativity post having a baby
- 10:27Speaker 3: literally handed postnatal depression to me on a fucking platter,
- 10:31Speaker 3: which is great. I'm sorry. But honestly, like. You know, but, like,
- 10:35Speaker 3: it is, unfortunately, it is what it is. And, like,
- 10:37Speaker 3: I've had, I've worked in, like, therapy to literally be, like,
- 10:39Speaker 3: how do I deal with this? Because this isn't normal. Like,
- 10:41Speaker 3: a normal situation, if someone doesn't like you or you
- 10:43Speaker 3: don't like them, like, you can just, like, leave, like, separate.
- 10:46Speaker 3: You know, you don't have to see them or you
- 10:47Speaker 3: don't contact them. You block their number or whatever. But, unfortunately,
- 10:50Speaker 3: I just can't do that. So I've just, like, had
- 10:52Speaker 3: to work really hard on being, like, my, mine and
- 10:55Speaker 3: Kayla's relationship, my self-worth, Kayla's self-worth, it's just not up
- 10:59Speaker 3: for discussion. Like, that just isn't for us. And we've
- 11:02Speaker 3: just had to, do a lot of like self work
- 11:05Speaker 3: to be like, okay, like whatever these people are saying,
- 11:07Speaker 3: whatever they want to say, like just let them, it's
- 11:09Speaker 3: like a one-sided beef at this point. Like, oh, we
- 11:11Speaker 3: don't care. We're so happy. Like that is, it just
- 11:14Speaker 3: kind of is what it is. And it's an unfortunate
- 11:16Speaker 3: thing that you have to go through. But I think
- 11:18Speaker 3: for the last like 10 years, it's, we just had
- 11:22Speaker 3: to grow some thick skin. That's what it is, unfortunately.
- 11:25Speaker 1: The crazy thing about it is I can't, and I
- 11:27Speaker 1: don't know if I'm just being biased towards you guys,
- 11:29Speaker 1: but I actually don't, I haven't seen you guys do
- 11:32Speaker 1: anything that would actually be.
- 11:33Speaker 2: Worthy of anyone. No one normally does. That's the thing. No,
- 11:36Speaker 2: but they don't.
- 11:37Speaker 1: But there's obviously a lot of controversial influencers out there
- 11:40Speaker 1: who might do something that does warrant.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Well, not warrant, but you can understand, oh, they're going
- 11:45Speaker 2: to copy a bit.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Of hate about that. But I'm so confused because.
- 11:48Speaker 2: You guys are so likeable.
- 11:50Speaker 3: I know. But it just shows you that. Yeah, not
- 11:51Speaker 3: even in the likeability. I think like I literally all
- 11:54Speaker 3: I do is make recipes and be a mum. Like
- 11:56Speaker 3: I don't understand it. I'm like, okay, if you hate
- 11:58Speaker 3: me for that, oh, Jesus.
- 12:00Speaker 1: On a more positive note, there is a very popular
- 12:04Speaker 1: other family member of yours that has an Instagram account
- 12:07Speaker 1: and there's been a few rumours. There's been a few
- 12:11Speaker 1: rumours swirling about that particular account.
- 12:15Speaker 2: And this is, of course... Now, is it your poo-poo?
- 12:18Speaker 3: Is that, sorry, I have to, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 12:21Speaker 1: See, Astina's poo-poo, sorry, I'm so uncultured.
- 12:24Speaker 2: We'll edit that bit.
- 12:24Speaker 3: But yes, your poo-poo's.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Instagram account.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Now there is a rumor going around that maybe he
- 12:33Speaker 1: doesn't have full control of that account.
- 12:35Speaker 3: Is that true? Honestly, the one thing about our family
- 12:39Speaker 3: is we're pretty much a vault. So unfortunately, can't answer
- 12:44Speaker 3: that question. Can't answer it.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Because we really wanted to get him on the show
- 12:49Speaker 1: instead of you, Leah.
- 12:51Speaker 2: And this was just a way.
- 12:52Speaker 3: To get to him. But yeah, I get it. Honestly,
- 12:55Speaker 3: he would get canceled within five seconds of being on
- 12:57Speaker 3: the show.
- 12:59Speaker 2: He'd have his own tattle thread.
- 13:01Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. He would have a Lysandre on there every day.
- 13:06Speaker 2: What do your family think about it all though? Are they,
- 13:09Speaker 2: I mean, especially your, I suppose about.
- 13:12Speaker 1: All the, I suppose, the fame, the intrigue, the media scrutiny, everything. Yeah,
- 13:18Speaker 1: there's been, I suppose they've put up with it for
- 13:20Speaker 1: quite a while now. You guys have been in the
- 13:22Speaker 1: spotlight for such a long time. But initially, were they
- 13:24Speaker 1: really surprised by all of the reactions?
- 13:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I think like my family, obviously it's been the
- 13:29Speaker 3: last 10 years, maybe a little bit more. So I
- 13:30Speaker 3: think like we've obviously learned to grow. And I don't,
- 13:34Speaker 3: I think at the start, you know, my parents were like,
- 13:36Speaker 3: you know, why would the Daily Mail be writing this?
- 13:38Speaker 3: Why would they be, like who told them this? And
- 13:40Speaker 3: we're like, over time, I think, And we all just
- 13:43Speaker 3: learn to like 99.999% of the stuff that goes online
- 13:47Speaker 3: is absolute trash. Like it's such, it's just full lies.
- 13:50Speaker 3: And we know it because we can, we see it.
- 13:52Speaker 3: And obviously our family's around. I think it's hard for
- 13:54Speaker 3: like our parents to, like if someone said something about Gigi,
- 13:57Speaker 3: I'd be like, I'm ready to fight someone. As a parent,
- 14:02Speaker 3: they're like, they've had to do a lot of work
- 14:04Speaker 3: to be like, it's okay it's just an article it's
- 14:07Speaker 3: just a person blah blah but like both of my
- 14:09Speaker 3: parents worked in schools and my dad's still a teacher
- 14:12Speaker 3: and he just thinks like.
- 14:13Speaker 5: He he finds it hard because he's like it's just
- 14:16Speaker 5: bullying like it's just like kid bullying in the playground
- 14:19Speaker 5: I hate it he hates it but it's just like
- 14:20Speaker 5: he he also doesn't say he just don't worry about
- 14:23Speaker 5: it don't worry about it don't worry about.
- 14:25Speaker 3: It so it's very he's very like you know but
- 14:26Speaker 3: we've had to come to a point where like we
- 14:28Speaker 3: know what we know us and we're happy with us
- 14:31Speaker 3: so that's.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Yeah it would be so tough like I could just
- 14:34Speaker 1: I'd I can't imagine not being able to say anything
- 14:37Speaker 1: to defend your children. But then obviously it would probably
- 14:40Speaker 1: make it worse as well and then you'd get more articles.
- 14:42Speaker 2: So it's just like a– Exactly.
- 14:44Speaker 3: So it's just best to leave it, which is unfortunate.
- 14:47Speaker 3: I've had like a real thing about that because I've
- 14:50Speaker 3: always wanted– and like a random rumor, like can't buy
- 14:52Speaker 3: our own chocolate bar. That is so random. I've never heard–
- 14:55Speaker 3: like who came up with that? And I kind of
- 14:58Speaker 3: want to tiptoe like you want to be like– you
- 14:59Speaker 3: want to go and tell that person like what is
- 15:01Speaker 3: wrong with you? Like, who says that? Or who makes
- 15:06Speaker 3: up that random thing? And then, like, that in itself, like,
- 15:10Speaker 3: I don't get, I never get, like, it's called, like,
- 15:12Speaker 3: a right of reply. Like, I don't get the right
- 15:14Speaker 3: to say something because it's, like, it just, it's a
- 15:17Speaker 3: stupid fight. It's dumb. Like, it's a waste of my
- 15:19Speaker 3: energy and my time or I could be hanging out
- 15:21Speaker 3: with my daughter. Like, I'd rather do that. So we've
- 15:23Speaker 3: just had to, like, really... hold back and just let
- 15:26Speaker 3: it go. But you know what I really like lately?
- 15:27Speaker 3: Tammy Hembrough has been going on TikTok and derailing some
- 15:30Speaker 3: media articles, which is just like, just laughs. And I
- 15:32Speaker 3: think that's how we deal with it. We just laugh. Like,
- 15:35Speaker 3: this is the only thing you can do because if
- 15:37Speaker 3: you don't laugh, you'll just get frustrated, I think. Yeah.
- 15:39Speaker 1: And that's a great thing about social media, like being
- 15:42Speaker 1: able to actually have a right of reply, because obviously
- 15:44Speaker 1: back before social media celebrities, like you'd have to put
- 15:47Speaker 1: out a, you know, a press release that was written
- 15:49Speaker 1: by a publicist. I mean, I think some influencers do
- 15:52Speaker 1: need a little bit of help when it comes to
- 15:54Speaker 1: some of the statements. It can be good and bad, though,
- 15:56Speaker 1: because you don't want to have to, sometimes it's just best,
- 15:59Speaker 1: I think, for people to ignore stuff. I mean, like
- 16:01Speaker 1: you don't want to get on your story and be like,
- 16:03Speaker 1: I have heard this rumour that my mum has been
- 16:05Speaker 1: buying boost bars and this is ridiculous.
- 16:07Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 16:08Speaker 3: You get every single rumour. And then it just fuels
- 16:12Speaker 3: the next one. It just fuels the next one and
- 16:14Speaker 3: the next one. And then people expect you, like they
- 16:15Speaker 3: can't wait for you to say something. It's just like,
- 16:17Speaker 3: I just can't be bothered. I just actually can't be bothered.
- 16:19Speaker 3: I'd rather just do something else with my energy because
- 16:22Speaker 3: you take a lot of my energy and my energy
- 16:24Speaker 3: is so spent with Gigi and our business that I'm like,
- 16:26Speaker 3: I can't sit here and think of someone that I
- 16:28Speaker 3: can't buy my own chocolate bar. You think that. You
- 16:30Speaker 3: just do that. You do that and enjoy your day.
- 16:33Speaker 3: I don't know how to help you. You know what
- 16:35Speaker 3: I mean?
- 16:36Speaker 1: I can understand why Tammy is coming out at the
- 16:38Speaker 1: moment though because there is so much attention on this
- 16:41Speaker 1: wedding that's coming up. Yeah. We can't pretend, like we
- 16:44Speaker 1: have been talking about it a lot on our podcast,
- 16:46Speaker 1: so we can't pretend that our halos.
- 16:47Speaker 3: Are showing up.
- 16:48Speaker 2: It's the wedding of the year.
- 16:50Speaker 3: The wedding of the century. I love it. I love it.
- 16:52Speaker 3: I mean, I can't wait. I can't wait. But I
- 16:54Speaker 3: just like her debunking shit that's online because she's just like,
- 16:57Speaker 3: this is stupid. Like, this is dumb. So I just
- 16:59Speaker 3: like that and that's funny.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Heading into Christmas, I want to get some tips from
- 17:03Speaker 1: you because I'm actually doing Christmas at my house this
- 17:07Speaker 1: year and I've checked out, obviously, your Instagram. I've gone
- 17:10Speaker 1: and had a look and the recipes look insane.
- 17:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:13Speaker 1: Can you give some advice, I suppose, maybe to first
- 17:15Speaker 1: time Christmas hosts? What have we got to do in
- 17:18Speaker 1: the lead up to Christmas to get our shit organized
- 17:21Speaker 1: for the day?
- 17:21Speaker 3: Oh, it's hard. But do you know what we used
- 17:24Speaker 3: to do? We used to say like, you know, whoever's
- 17:26Speaker 3: hosting does everything, right? You do absolutely everything. And then
- 17:30Speaker 3: that causes so much stress for that one person, right?
- 17:32Speaker 3: So we've now been like, everyone, if you want to come,
- 17:35Speaker 3: bring something, like bring a salad, bring something like something
- 17:38Speaker 3: that just helps on the day so then when you're
- 17:40Speaker 3: actually if it's your hosting you're just like i can
- 17:42Speaker 3: just make a few things and then it just gives
- 17:45Speaker 3: you like a little bit of a because i feel
- 17:46Speaker 3: like the expectation of like you're hosting you also have
- 17:49Speaker 3: to feed everyone like no offense that's a lot of
- 17:50Speaker 3: money like you're spending a lot for everybody and you're
- 17:52Speaker 3: doing a lot of time and effort and all that
- 17:54Speaker 3: shit you're like oh my god it's a lot so
- 17:56Speaker 3: delegate that's a great one but I would yeah like
- 18:03Speaker 3: just be like because I feel like people that oh
- 18:05Speaker 3: no no I'm hosting I'll have it like no no
- 18:07Speaker 3: no I'm hosting I will have you over but you
- 18:09Speaker 3: can bring things as well and you can we can
- 18:10Speaker 3: all celebrate together right rather than stress on me so
- 18:13Speaker 3: 100 delegate firstly but secondly I would have a list
- 18:18Speaker 3: and get things that you can get in advance the
- 18:21Speaker 3: week before like If you're going to make a potato salad,
- 18:23Speaker 3: you can buy potatoes and they'll last a week. Do
- 18:25Speaker 3: you know what I mean? Rather than doing that in
- 18:26Speaker 3: Christmas rush, the worst. I try and do my things
- 18:30Speaker 3: at least a week before, freeze things, all that stuff.
- 18:33Speaker 3: Just so I'm like, I don't want to go to
- 18:34Speaker 3: Woolies on the day before. Fuck that. Or delivery. We
- 18:38Speaker 3: love a delivery. Yeah.
- 18:39Speaker 1: I love that you're giving that advice to Amy because
- 18:41Speaker 1: she really needs to listen to it because she's the
- 18:43Speaker 1: type of person, she loves hosting. She's got a great
- 18:45Speaker 1: outdoor area and she always puts her hand up. But
- 18:48Speaker 1: she is one of the people that buys the things
- 18:51Speaker 1: like the day of. And I don't even mean in
- 18:52Speaker 1: the morning. Obviously, Christmas is a little bit different, but
- 18:55Speaker 1: she'll have like a Halloween party recently. And you bought
- 18:57Speaker 1: the stuff like at 2 p.m. and people coming home
- 19:00Speaker 1: at 6.
- 19:00Speaker 3: And I'm just like, what are you doing?
- 19:03Speaker 1: I think, I don't know, for some reason, it doesn't
- 19:04Speaker 1: seem like a proper event to me unless there is
- 19:07Speaker 1: that stress beforehand. It's like a last minute assignment adrenaline.
- 19:10Speaker 3: I do get it. I do love a birthday. I
- 19:13Speaker 3: love a birthday for all that.
- 19:15Speaker 1: Actually, I was following Gigi's birthday closely because it was
- 19:19Speaker 1: under the sea theme.
- 19:21Speaker 2: So I've just had a baby recently.
- 19:23Speaker 1: He's nearly six months old and I'm already like going
- 19:26Speaker 1: into birthday planning mode. So maybe I need to pick
- 19:29Speaker 1: your brain about that because that looked amazing.
- 19:32Speaker 3: I'm literally, I was, her birthday's coming around. It's in
- 19:34Speaker 3: March and I'm like, is November too soon? Like do
- 19:37Speaker 3: we start planning? I'm really excited. Like third birthday, I
- 19:41Speaker 3: think we're going to go with mermaid fairy theme. So yeah,
- 19:43Speaker 3: I'm very excited. I love a birthday. I feel like
- 19:45Speaker 3: birthday is my thing because I think like I, it's
- 19:48Speaker 3: that one person's day and it's like Gigi couldn't give
- 19:51Speaker 3: a shit about last year, but I'm like, it's me.
- 19:52Speaker 3: I'm like, I'm so excited to just make her happy
- 19:54Speaker 3: for one second. So I, yeah, birthdays are great. And
- 19:58Speaker 3: the first birthday, I literally bawled my eyes out the
- 20:00Speaker 3: entire time. Second birthday was more fun. because I used
- 20:03Speaker 3: to say oh my god they're 21 like oh my
- 20:04Speaker 3: gosh one year old you're a year old second birthday
- 20:07Speaker 3: I couldn't wait it was my favorite I was like
- 20:09Speaker 3: painting things I was oh my god it was too
- 20:11Speaker 3: much I saw.
- 20:12Speaker 1: That I was so impressed like the big sea um
- 20:14Speaker 1: like the crab and the fish are like so cool
- 20:17Speaker 1: so I don't know what theme to pick because like
- 20:19Speaker 1: Jack's only starting to just get a personality now and
- 20:21Speaker 1: obviously I suppose the first birthday party you kind of
- 20:24Speaker 1: just pick whatever you.
- 20:25Speaker 2: Like I'm guessing.
- 20:26Speaker 3: Totally. Or whatever's like easy to find. Yeah.
- 20:29Speaker 1: And I did a Peter Rabbit baby shower. That stuff
- 20:33Speaker 1: is hard to find. It was like, I thought it
- 20:35Speaker 1: would be easy and it's expensive. It's like, you've got
- 20:37Speaker 1: to get it from the UK. So yeah, I've got
- 20:38Speaker 1: to find something that's cool, but like, yeah.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Easy to get.
- 20:41Speaker 3: Yeah, like a reject shop.
- 20:43Speaker 2: Yes, exactly.
- 20:46Speaker 1: Have you got any amazing Christmas traditions now that you've
- 20:50Speaker 1: got Gigi?
- 20:51Speaker 3: Yeah, well, we're putting up the Christmas tree tonight. We're
- 20:54Speaker 3: doing it in November. I hate people who do it
- 20:55Speaker 3: in December. But I was waiting for my Christmas thing.
- 20:57Speaker 3: I would have done it first in November, but my
- 20:59Speaker 3: Christmas decorations got delivered today, so I'm very excited about that.
- 21:02Speaker 3: I we kind of want to start new ones because
- 21:04Speaker 3: we haven't really you know Jesus this year only quite
- 21:07Speaker 3: sort of understanding Christmas that Santa sort of loves she
- 21:10Speaker 3: doesn't really understand a lot of it but she you
- 21:12Speaker 3: know she loves decorations so now that we're up in
- 21:14Speaker 3: Queensland it's not as easy just to like do things
- 21:16Speaker 3: with my parents or like Kayla or whatever but I'd
- 21:19Speaker 3: love to do like Christmas Eve, have all the kids
- 21:22Speaker 3: and have like a sleepover. I don't know whether Kayla
- 21:24Speaker 3: will be onto that, but I think like I, as
- 21:27Speaker 3: a kid, I loved, we used to get the mattresses
- 21:29Speaker 3: and me and Kayla, not mum and dad, me and
- 21:32Speaker 3: Kayla used to do it ourselves and then mum and
- 21:33Speaker 3: dad built like this. We'd wheel our mattresses into the
- 21:37Speaker 3: living room and we'd have like a movie night. And
- 21:39Speaker 3: I loved that so much. I feel like that'll be
- 21:42Speaker 3: so fun for the kids if we can do like
- 21:44Speaker 3: Christmas Eve, like little sleepover vibes. And then in the
- 21:46Speaker 3: morning we all wake up together or whatever. We do
- 21:49Speaker 3: like Christmas Eve Eve. So we do like that. And
- 21:51Speaker 3: then it's Christmas Eve with their family. I don't know.
- 21:53Speaker 3: We kind of want to pick something. We're doing, I've
- 21:55Speaker 3: forced Kayla into matching PJs and photos. So that'll happen
- 21:58Speaker 3: next week. I'm very excited. Just little things like that.
- 22:02Speaker 2: She wasn't keen on that?
- 22:04Speaker 3: Well, she just was like, we should do photos. I'm like,
- 22:06Speaker 3: matching PJs. And she's like, can we just do photos?
- 22:08Speaker 3: I'm like, no, no, matching PJ photos.
- 22:10Speaker 2: We have to be doing it.
- 22:11Speaker 3: She's like.
- 22:11Speaker 1: We're doing the same thing and our husbands were thrilled
- 22:14Speaker 1: that they were in on the action.
- 22:15Speaker 2: We're like, we got you a present. They're like, what?
- 22:18Speaker 3: I don't want that. Yeah.
- 22:20Speaker 2: You're like, just pose for the photo. Just be in it.
- 22:22Speaker 1: Like just, you know, I've got to know what movies
- 22:25Speaker 1: were you guys watching?
- 22:26Speaker 2: Like what are your Christmas go-tos?
- 22:28Speaker 3: We, I just think we, the Grinch, obviously, like that's
- 22:32Speaker 3: a vibe. I think we used to watch Home Alone
- 22:34Speaker 3: just as well. Just that. I think that was fun,
- 22:36Speaker 3: but we would honestly, it wouldn't really be about the movie.
- 22:39Speaker 3: We'd kind of put something on and then we would
- 22:41Speaker 3: just like, eat popcorn or do whatever. We were just
- 22:43Speaker 3: kind of partying around the living room. But yeah, that
- 22:46Speaker 3: was fun. I think now having kids, I'm like, that
- 22:49Speaker 3: is so important for those little magical memories. And like,
- 22:52Speaker 3: Santa warning, trigger warning anybody. Mum used to go outside
- 22:57Speaker 3: when we were sleeping and she'd ring some jingle bells
- 23:00Speaker 3: on the street. So me and Kayla would be like,
- 23:02Speaker 3: go to sleep, go to sleep, go to sleep. So
- 23:03Speaker 3: we'd hear it and we'd be like, oh, my God, oh,
- 23:06Speaker 3: my God. So things like that, I kind of want
- 23:08Speaker 3: to make it like a real magical time. So, yeah,
- 23:10Speaker 3: I'm excited. I'm really excited. This is our year because
- 23:13Speaker 3: Anna's at an age where she gets it and then
- 23:15Speaker 3: Gigi's there. Jax just wants to rip everything, so that's perfect.
- 23:18Speaker 3: So I think, yeah, it's going to be good for
- 23:20Speaker 3: them all, I think. It'll be really good. Aww.
- 23:22Speaker 2: So did I hear that correctly?
- 23:23Speaker 1: Are you guys staying on the Gold Coast for Christmas?
- 23:25Speaker 1: You're not coming back to Adelaide?
- 23:26Speaker 3: Yes, we'll be staying on the Gold Coast for Christmas.
- 23:29Speaker 3: So my parents are coming up, Mitch's parents are coming up.
- 23:32Speaker 3: I am, like, this close to getting my Yamba ball
- 23:34Speaker 3: up here. Like, I'm so close. So close. Yes. So
- 23:39Speaker 3: we could, we could see them. We could not usually.
- 23:41Speaker 3: So either year they either go to my mum's sister's
- 23:43Speaker 3: house or ours. So either way, they'd kind of have
- 23:46Speaker 3: somewhere to go, obviously. But I'm so close. I just
- 23:49Speaker 3: have to have one more visit to Adelaide, which I
- 23:51Speaker 3: go next week, not next week. I'm there for the
- 23:53Speaker 3: whole week. Every day I'm going to be like, I'm
- 23:55Speaker 3: booking your ticket. I'm booking your ticket. And I think
- 23:57Speaker 3: they'll come. I think they'll come.
- 23:59Speaker 2: That would be so special.
- 24:01Speaker 3: It would be amazing if they do.
- 24:03Speaker 1: We were speaking on the podcast last week about Kate's
- 24:06Speaker 1: joined this, what is it called, like the Mums Christmas
- 24:08Speaker 1: Mums Facebook group.
- 24:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I love it. It's so good.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Look, I mean, I'm not as sold on the group.
- 24:16Speaker 1: Kate has added me as a group member anyway. It's
- 24:18Speaker 1: very cute. It's like lots of handmade crafty Christmas kind
- 24:22Speaker 1: of stuff. Some of it's good, some of it's not
- 24:24Speaker 1: so good. But some of the mums on there have
- 24:26Speaker 1: already done their Christmas shopping in November.
- 24:29Speaker 3: Wow.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Is that kind of when do you get your Christmas
- 24:32Speaker 1: shopping done? Is this sort of all of the responsibility
- 24:35Speaker 1: on you or is your husband pretty good at helping out?
- 24:37Speaker 3: No, he's good. He buys her more than things than
- 24:39Speaker 3: I do. It's so annoying. He'll buy her the same
- 24:41Speaker 3: shoes like she's got but just in a different colour.
- 24:43Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, she's got them. I bought her Crocs
- 24:46Speaker 3: when I went to the shops. But I think what
- 24:49Speaker 3: we're going to do this year is like there's a
- 24:50Speaker 3: big W really close. Like the kids literally, like I
- 24:53Speaker 3: came from a home from Adelaide and I got her
- 24:55Speaker 3: a little tea set. And she's been playing with it
- 24:57Speaker 3: for the past, like, 24 hours. I literally wanted to
- 24:59Speaker 3: take it to bed last night. So they're very easily pleased. Like,
- 25:01Speaker 3: I'm not going to buy them. Like, me and Kayla
- 25:04Speaker 3: were like, right, we're going to spend $ 100. We're going
- 25:05Speaker 3: to go together. We're going to go get Anna a doll,
- 25:07Speaker 3: Gigi a doll, Jackson a toy. My mom has already
- 25:10Speaker 3: filled up the cupboard already with it. I was like,
- 25:12Speaker 3: the kids don't, like, as long as we do the
- 25:14Speaker 3: Christmas traditions and fun, they're going to have, like, we're
- 25:16Speaker 3: just going to go get. My mom used to do
- 25:18Speaker 3: this all the time for us. She probably would spend maybe,
- 25:20Speaker 3: I'd say, like, $ 50, right? And that would be her
- 25:23Speaker 3: budget for me or Kayla or whoever. And she'd go
- 25:25Speaker 3: into a store, but get little things like a little,
- 25:28Speaker 3: I don't know, shaker toy, anything. And then she'd wrap
- 25:31Speaker 3: everything up. So we'd have like 30 presents, but there
- 25:33Speaker 3: were nothing that socks should wrap up individually, like things
- 25:36Speaker 3: like that. Oh my God, there's so many things. And
- 25:38Speaker 3: it's just like, it wasn't expensive, but it was just
- 25:41Speaker 3: like the notion of like, wow, this, we're going to
- 25:43Speaker 3: have all this stuff. So I think that's what we'll
- 25:45Speaker 3: do for the kids. But we're just, I try and
- 25:47Speaker 3: buy things in Black Friday because I'm like, it's like 50% off.
- 25:51Speaker 3: So I'm trying to, I'm going to this week and
- 25:52Speaker 3: next week, I'm going to buy all like the like
- 25:54Speaker 3: little painting sets and things like that. And then I'll,
- 25:56Speaker 3: that'll be fine.
- 25:58Speaker 1: That sounds like a great plan. Cause I, at the moment,
- 26:00Speaker 1: cause it's going to be Jack's yeah. First Christmas. I'm like, Oh,
- 26:04Speaker 1: I've heard people discussing like, do you even buy babies
- 26:07Speaker 1: a present for Christmas?
- 26:08Speaker 2: I will be just because I'm, I don't know. I'm
- 26:10Speaker 2: excited for it.
- 26:11Speaker 3: But I don't think, I don't reckon I got Gigi
- 26:14Speaker 3: anything for the first, her first Christmas. Cause I think
- 26:17Speaker 3: she was like, I was worried she'd vomit on her. No,
- 26:19Speaker 3: I'm kidding.
- 26:20Speaker 2: So it's feeling.
- 26:22Speaker 3: I think I was like, no, I'll just whatever. But
- 26:24Speaker 3: I reckon there was so many things from, like, mum
- 26:27Speaker 3: that mum would come the week of December, I bought this,
- 26:30Speaker 3: I'm like, wrap it up. Like, let's not give it
- 26:32Speaker 3: to her now, wrap it up. So she had so
- 26:33Speaker 3: much stuff. I was like, what am I going to
- 26:34Speaker 3: get her? She doesn't even, like, blink yet. So, like,
- 26:36Speaker 3: I think the first year I was like, no, don't
- 26:38Speaker 3: worry about it. But second year, this year is going
- 26:40Speaker 3: to be all for it. I'm ready.
- 26:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I heard they just like the wrapping paper better
- 26:44Speaker 1: so you could just literally wrap a box.
- 26:46Speaker 3: And they've got no idea.
- 26:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:47Speaker 3: Or just wrap like a mug or a Tupperware container
- 26:50Speaker 3: and be like, wow, look at the thing this is.
- 26:51Speaker 3: This is so cool.
- 26:53Speaker 1: I know the thing is you're spending so much money.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Like I've had to order, like I just got a
- 26:56Speaker 1: playpen for him recently. That was like 200, like all
- 26:58Speaker 1: these things. And I'm like, there's a lot of gifts
- 27:00Speaker 1: that you've already received in your first six months of
- 27:02Speaker 1: life that are quite costly.
- 27:05Speaker 3: And my soul as well.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Last year you had your wedding really close to Christmas.
- 27:13Speaker 1: So how did that go? Was that sort of, At
- 27:15Speaker 1: the time, you're like, oh, my God, this is too close.
- 27:18Speaker 1: We should have done it, like, spaced it out? Or
- 27:19Speaker 1: was it, like, so magical?
- 27:21Speaker 3: No, it was great. Like, we just did something so cruisy. Like,
- 27:23Speaker 3: I think if we did a massive wedding, I would
- 27:25Speaker 3: have been like, this is too much. But we just did, like,
- 27:27Speaker 3: we literally had 20 people. My closest family, like, Mitch's
- 27:30Speaker 3: family and my family, that was already, like, 16 people.
- 27:32Speaker 3: And then we had, like, a couple of friends each.
- 27:35Speaker 3: We just had a celebrate at the house and we
- 27:36Speaker 3: had a chef. Like, I literally did nothing. Like, everyone
- 27:38Speaker 3: was like, what can I do to help? I was like, nothing. Like,
- 27:41Speaker 3: people are coming in, setting up little tent things, some lights, like.
- 27:44Speaker 3: a lady came and did all the table and I
- 27:45Speaker 3: was like, other than that, I literally, literally did nothing.
- 27:48Speaker 3: I went to the gym that morning and was like, oh, like,
- 27:49Speaker 3: do you want to go get a coffee? Like, I
- 27:51Speaker 3: don't know what to do with myself because I'm, I
- 27:53Speaker 3: don't know, there's nothing I can do. So, no, it
- 27:55Speaker 3: was really good. I loved it. It was just easy
- 27:57Speaker 3: and it was nice because I got to see my
- 27:58Speaker 3: really close family friends and then Christmas day was like
- 28:00Speaker 3: just everyone and anyone. So, it was like nice to
- 28:03Speaker 3: have that little almost calming moment really.
- 28:06Speaker 1: Yeah. So, because Kayla got married like in December last
- 28:10Speaker 1: year and then yours was two years ago. Did you
- 28:11Speaker 1: guys purposely pick around Christmas because you love the season
- 28:15Speaker 1: or did it just happen to fall on those dates?
- 28:17Speaker 3: I think it just kind of fell on those dates.
- 28:19Speaker 3: I think we were kind of hoping for hotter weather
- 28:20Speaker 3: so it kind of went down to the December because, like,
- 28:22Speaker 3: we were still in November and it was like, is
- 28:24Speaker 3: it going to rain, is it not? So, like, we
- 28:25Speaker 3: pushed it as far as we could. But, yeah, Kayla
- 28:29Speaker 3: did the same sort of thing, like, backyard-y, fun music.
- 28:32Speaker 3: It was great. Like, we both kind of had cruisy weddings,
- 28:34Speaker 3: I would say. It was really easy.
- 28:36Speaker 2: It sounds good.
- 28:37Speaker 1: I don't know if you had the same photographer as Kayla, Christina,
- 28:40Speaker 1: but I had her for my.
- 28:41Speaker 2: Wedding as well.
- 28:42Speaker 3: Isn't she amazing?
- 28:43Speaker 2: Yeah, she was so good.
- 28:44Speaker 1: I booked her in and then I, like before, I
- 28:46Speaker 1: hadn't really heard much about her and then I saw
- 28:48Speaker 1: her pop up on Kayla's page and I was like,
- 28:50Speaker 1: I must have picked well.
- 28:51Speaker 3: Like she's doing Kayla's thing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So she's
- 28:54Speaker 3: actually a family. Her dad and my dad are cousins somehow,
- 28:58Speaker 3: one of those great things.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
- 28:59Speaker 3: Cousin, cousin, cousin. So Kayla got her but she's the best.
- 29:02Speaker 3: She's honestly, she gets things from like, every angle like
- 29:06Speaker 3: little candles I love I love I love it we
- 29:09Speaker 3: literally we had me and Kayla so we're doing me
- 29:10Speaker 3: and Kayla working on a project together we were just
- 29:12Speaker 3: in Adelaide together and she was a photographer for it
- 29:14Speaker 3: and she's just amazing like I just I love her
- 29:18Speaker 3: so much yeah.
- 29:19Speaker 1: Just back to Christmas quickly um before we go um
- 29:22Speaker 1: what about for family for presents do you guys do
- 29:24Speaker 1: a secret Santa or do you actually buy everyone in
- 29:27Speaker 1: your family a Christmas present.
- 29:29Speaker 3: Nah, we stopped doing that. Like, the minute Anna was born,
- 29:32Speaker 3: I was like, sorry, Kelly, you get nothing. And I
- 29:36Speaker 3: think like, so Mitch's, Jay's family does a secret Santa
- 29:41Speaker 3: and we, we just kind of like hooked onto that.
- 29:43Speaker 3: And we now do, I think we're like, we buy
- 29:45Speaker 3: our present, not a specific person's present. And then we
- 29:47Speaker 3: do the thing that you can steal other people's presents.
- 29:50Speaker 3: Like you get a number and then like, yeah, it's a,
- 29:53Speaker 3: it's yeah, you get a number. And then if you
- 29:55Speaker 3: get whatever number is like one through to however many
- 29:57Speaker 3: people are there. And then, There's all presents in the
- 29:59Speaker 3: room and as soon as your number's called, you get
- 30:00Speaker 3: to pick a present, like pick what you want, open
- 30:02Speaker 3: it and then it's your present. And then if the
- 30:03Speaker 3: next person gets to pick their present and if they
- 30:05Speaker 3: don't like it, they can take yours. So you kind
- 30:08Speaker 3: of want to be the last, the higher number so
- 30:10Speaker 3: you can pick whoever you want. It just makes for
- 30:13Speaker 3: like a really funny morning because everyone just bites.
- 30:17Speaker 2: Do people purposely buy shit?
- 30:18Speaker 1: Present because we've played that before and i remember um
- 30:21Speaker 1: our sister sophie she bought like such a bad present
- 30:23Speaker 1: but everyone wanted it it was like some stress ball
- 30:25Speaker 1: poo it was like it was like most random or
- 30:28Speaker 1: are people actually buying good presents in.
- 30:30Speaker 3: Your game well we said we said like we had
- 30:33Speaker 3: we had a max of fifty dollars because we were
- 30:34Speaker 3: like oh don't buy anything and anything more expensive than
- 30:37Speaker 3: that because then that that happens like someone buys like
- 30:39Speaker 3: a three thousand or something and we're like i want
- 30:42Speaker 3: that so So 50 bucks was the max and we
- 30:44Speaker 3: all just like, and we all kind of bought things
- 30:47Speaker 3: that were a bit funny. Like we thought like, you know,
- 30:49Speaker 3: a candle with a willy on it and things like that.
- 30:51Speaker 3: So like we kind of did, depends on who's buying.
- 30:55Speaker 3: I think that's kind of the fun of it. You
- 30:56Speaker 3: know that someone's like, you know, I'm always going to
- 30:58Speaker 3: buy something dumb. So like the new latest candle will
- 31:00Speaker 3: buy something nice.
- 31:01Speaker 2: I hope your grandparents were fighting over that willy candle.
- 31:10Speaker 1: We hope you enjoyed this episode with Leah. She joins
- 31:13Speaker 1: us again in our subs episode tomorrow where we discuss
- 31:16Speaker 1: Christmas food as well as pregnancy cravings. Here's a little
- 31:19Speaker 1: teaser of what you can expect.
- 31:21Speaker 3: Christmas crack, that's like 1 billion percent, that'll be our Christmas.
- 31:25Speaker 3: That's us. Not that I knew that I was pregnant,
- 31:27Speaker 3: but I had iceberg lettuce and I was like dipping
- 31:29Speaker 3: it in French onion dip and I was like, something's
- 31:32Speaker 3: wrong here. Something's amiss. Genuinely in pregnancy, if I had
- 31:37Speaker 3: any nausea, any sort of like backache, I'd be like, oh,
- 31:40Speaker 3: poor sugar coat. The worst bit it was, it was
- 31:42Speaker 3: bloody hungry Jack's Uber Eats. Once I discovered that, I
- 31:45Speaker 3: was over.
