So, 'I have a question' is 'Ich habe eine Frage.' Let's break it down: Ich habe eine Frage. Luna: Ich habe eine Frage. Lucas: Exactly! You've got it. Now, what if you need to ask to go to the bathroom? You can say: 'Kann ich auf die Toilette gehen?' Luna: Kann ich auf die Toilette gehen? That's a bit of a mouthful. Lucas: It is, but you'll get used to it. Try once more: Kann ich auf die Toilette gehen? Luna: Kann ich auf die Toilette gehen? Lucas: Yeah, much better. Now, if you don't understand something, you say: 'Ich verstehe das nicht.' Luna: Ich verstehe das nicht. That's useful. I'm sure I'll use that a lot. Lucas: Same here. And if the teacher speaks too fast, you can ask: 'Können Sie das bitte wiederholen?' - Can you please repeat that? Luna: Können Sie das bitte wiederholen? That's a long one too. Lucas: Yes, but practice makes perfect. Let's hear it: Können Sie das bitte wiederholen? Luna: Können Sie das bitte wiederholen? Okay, I think I got it. Lucas: Wonderful. And finally, when you have homework, you might say: 'Die Hausaufgabe ist schwer.' The homework is hard. Luna: Die Hausaufgabe ist schwer. I can relate to that. Lucas: Okay, let's put them together in a little scene. Let's pretend I'm the teacher and you're the student. Luna: All right. Guten Morgen, Herr Lucas. Lucas: Guten Morgen, Luna. Today we're learning German. Do you have any questions? Luna: Ja, ich habe eine Frage. Ich verstehe das nicht. Die Hausaufgabe ist schwer. Lucas: Oh, I see. Well, let me explain. But first, do you need to use the restroom? Luna: Ja, kann ich auf die Toilette gehen? Lucas: Of course. And after, I'll repeat the explanation. Können Sie das bitte wiederholen? - I'll say it again.
