- 0:00Speaker 1: Tampa Bay's best music is Magic 94.9.
- 0:04Speaker 2: And welcome to a new episode of Scotty and Abby Unfiltered,
- 0:07Speaker 2: which you can now watch on YouTube.
- 0:08Speaker 3: Thanks to Abby. Thank you, Abby.
- 0:10Speaker 4: Check out the episode description. You can click on our
- 0:12Speaker 4: YouTube page and you can see me currently putting my
- 0:15Speaker 4: hands inside of my shirt because it is freaking cold.
- 0:18Speaker 2: So one of the things that happened recently that I
- 0:21Speaker 2: feel like I need to catch the podcast fam up with.
- 0:24Speaker 3: Is if you remember... The public.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Situation that I had just a few weeks ago with
- 0:29Speaker 2: that random man. Do you remember that man that I
- 0:31Speaker 2: thought was going to kill me? He got my address.
- 0:34Speaker 2: He learned about my girlfriend. I know.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Okay. So let me catch you back up.
- 0:37Speaker 2: So a couple of weeks ago, I was going into
- 0:39Speaker 2: Publix and I was getting flowers for my girlfriend who
- 0:41Speaker 2: was coming over for the weekend. And as I was
- 0:43Speaker 2: walking with the flowers, this random man stopped me. He's like, man,
- 0:45Speaker 2: you're going to make me look bad in front of
- 0:47Speaker 2: my wife. And I was like, oh, that's a funny comment.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Like yada, yada, whatever. He stops me though. In that conversation,
- 0:53Speaker 2: he's like, all right, man, I want to get to
- 0:54Speaker 2: know you. Like, all right, what do you do for your,
- 0:57Speaker 2: for a living? And I was like, oh, I'm a
- 0:59Speaker 2: radio host.
- 1:00Speaker 3: He's like, oh, awesome, man. Do you always go to
- 1:01Speaker 3: this Publix?
- 1:02Speaker 2: I was like, Interesting question. But he was asking these
- 1:05Speaker 2: questions so quick.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Oh, he was asking like, where do you live? Where
- 1:08Speaker 1: do I live?
- 1:09Speaker 4: What's the street corner that you live on? He's like,
- 1:11Speaker 4: gonna track you down.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Gonna track me down. And so I walked, I was like.
- 1:15Speaker 1: So he found you. He tracked you down.
- 1:16Speaker 2: He did find me because one of the questions he
- 1:19Speaker 2: asked me was like, hey, what's your phone number? And
- 1:21Speaker 2: I just, it was so quick. It was like a
- 1:23Speaker 2: method he had. And I gave him my phone number,
- 1:25Speaker 2: and next thing you know, he's blowing me up on
- 1:27Speaker 2: my phone. He's, you know, we're setting up, we set
- 1:29Speaker 2: up a full conversation. And to kind of, I don't
- 1:31Speaker 2: know if I talked about the conversation yet, but we
- 1:33Speaker 2: got on the phone together. And he was kind of
- 1:35Speaker 2: pitching a job opportunity for me to do, and it
- 1:37Speaker 2: sounded like a pyramid scheme kind of deal.
- 1:40Speaker 3: And I was like, ah, I'm not interested. I'm good.
- 1:43Speaker 3: I haven't really responded to him since. But I saw
- 1:46Speaker 3: that guy.
- 1:47Speaker 2: This past weekend, in the same Publix, doing the same
- 1:51Speaker 2: thing to another dude.
- 1:53Speaker 1: I'm telling you, men.
- 1:54Speaker 4: Have no survival skills because you've never lived in fear
- 1:58Speaker 4: of being human trafficked.
- 1:59Speaker 3: You know what?
- 2:00Speaker 2: I needed this lesson because, gosh damn, I felt like
- 2:02Speaker 2: I was watching another victim.
- 2:04Speaker 1: What was he blowing up your phone about? What did
- 2:06Speaker 1: he say?
- 2:06Speaker 3: He wanted me to start working under him. That sounds
- 2:10Speaker 3: so weird.
- 2:11Speaker 1: I think that's usually how it goes. I'm not very
- 2:13Speaker 1: familiar with the.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Situation, but.
- 2:15Speaker 2: What's tough about it is it sounds like it's normal stuff.
- 2:18Speaker 2: It sounds like it, multi-market.
- 2:20Speaker 3: What's the thing?
- 2:21Speaker 1: Oh, like a pyramid scheme?
- 2:22Speaker 2: Yeah, like, okay, you sell based off of how many
- 2:26Speaker 2: people you bring into your circle.
- 2:27Speaker 1: So he's a Mary Kay salesman.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Something like that, but not for Mary Kay. I think
- 2:31Speaker 2: it's like for like peptides around the area.
- 2:33Speaker 1: He wasn't going to throw you in the back of
- 2:34Speaker 1: his pink Cadillac.
- 2:35Speaker 4: God damn.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Scott's like, wait a second. I was looking for a
- 2:40Speaker 1: new job. And this car, this comes with a car.
- 2:42Speaker 3: And it's pink.
- 2:44Speaker 2: It was fascinating to see how he set it up.
- 2:46Speaker 2: He was like, well, are you interested in, you know, other,
- 2:48Speaker 2: you know, making more money? I was like, everyone is.
- 2:51Speaker 2: So we get on the phone and he does this
- 2:53Speaker 2: whole pitch.
- 2:53Speaker 3: And I'm like, this sounds like a pyramid scheme.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Why is everyone trying to get you on the peptide train?
- 2:57Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Because I'm not ready to go down that train. I'm
- 3:00Speaker 2: not ready to ingest things into my body. That I
- 3:02Speaker 2: haven't had enough research to really develop. Yeah.
- 3:05Speaker 3: I'm good.
- 3:05Speaker 2: I'm going to stay away from that. But he wants
- 3:07Speaker 2: me to like form this circle and bring people.
- 3:09Speaker 3: Into the network.
- 3:09Speaker 1: And I'm like, I'm good. That's a pyramid scheme.
- 3:11Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:11Speaker 2: So I didn't, I wasn't replying anymore to him. I
- 3:14Speaker 2: haven't replied since. But what was so crazy is I
- 3:16Speaker 2: walked into Publix and I saw like he was facing me.
- 3:19Speaker 2: I was facing him, but I saw him with his
- 3:20Speaker 2: next victim doing the same exact thing that he did
- 3:23Speaker 2: to me.
- 3:24Speaker 3: And as I walked, but he didn't even acknowledge me.
- 3:26Speaker 3: He didn't even look at me. And I looked at Brianna.
- 3:29Speaker 3: I was like, we got to go. Like, that was
- 3:30Speaker 3: the guy. Like, we got to get out of public
- 3:33Speaker 3: right now.
- 3:34Speaker 4: Oh, no.
- 3:34Speaker 3: I made it a whole thing. He probably hears this.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Now that he knows my phone number.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Yeah, you're ruining his recruiting ground.
- 3:40Speaker 3: That's what I found weird though.
- 3:42Speaker 1: He recruits in Publix.
- 3:43Speaker 4: That is kind of random, but if you think about it,
- 3:45Speaker 4: if you were just trying to find like your run
- 3:46Speaker 4: of the mill everyday man, where would you go?
- 3:48Speaker 1: Publix.
- 3:49Speaker 2: I guess, but it just feels a little, something about
- 3:52Speaker 2: it feels off and I don't know what it is.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Like my gut tells me something's off and I'd like
- 3:56Speaker 2: to listen to my gut because in that moment I
- 3:58Speaker 2: was like, do I talk to that man?
- 4:00Speaker 3: And like, Let them know.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Hey. Hey, stop recruiting for that job that you have.
- 4:04Speaker 3: Well, not that guy. I don't want to say clear. Oh,
- 4:06Speaker 3: that guy. The guy he was being, you know.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Recruited.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Yeah, recruited.
- 4:10Speaker 2: I want to just give him a heads up like, hey,
- 4:12Speaker 2: he did the same thing to me last week. It
- 4:15Speaker 2: just makes me think because he has like all these
- 4:17Speaker 2: opening lines. He used the flowers for me and they
- 4:20Speaker 2: got to know all my information. I was luckily I
- 4:23Speaker 2: guess I was a little more thoughtful.
- 4:25Speaker 3: Even though I gave him my. phone number and my
- 4:27Speaker 3: job and what i do here i.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Didn't give him my exact address i just don't know
- 4:32Speaker 2: with all those questions what else he's getting from other
- 4:33Speaker 2: people it just seems off so i saw him yesterday
- 4:36Speaker 2: and i'm like how many more times am i going
- 4:38Speaker 2: to see the same man in that public you're.
- 4:39Speaker 4: Gonna have to change publics is i you know what
- 4:41Speaker 4: sucks i think i am what publics do you go to.
- 4:44Speaker 2: That was one on 66th ave in saint pete so
- 4:49Speaker 2: i usually either go to that one or there's one
- 4:51Speaker 2: on like 38th ave There's two in very similar distance.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Yeah, there's some of that Publix.
- 4:56Speaker 4: There's so many Publixes in Tampa that I feel like
- 5:00Speaker 4: everybody has a Publix roster.
- 5:01Speaker 1: For me, my top.
- 5:02Speaker 4: Slot is the Bayshore Publix because it's the closest to me. However,
- 5:07Speaker 4: the parking situation stresses me out. And it's not that
- 5:09Speaker 4: there's not enough parking. It's just like getting out of
- 5:12Speaker 4: getting back home to Davis Islands.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Have you ever driven there? There's one way to get
- 5:15Speaker 1: to D.I. and it's a bridge. And you can't just
- 5:18Speaker 1: get to the bridge.
- 5:19Speaker 4: You have to, like, make a big circle to get
- 5:21Speaker 4: to the bridge if you're on Bayshore. And so when
- 5:23Speaker 4: I go to the Bayshore Publix, in theory, the bridge
- 5:25Speaker 4: is right there. But then you have to, like, go
- 5:27Speaker 4: another mile and then turn around. And there's just always
- 5:30Speaker 4: a lot of traffic.
- 5:31Speaker 1: You can't see the cars. It's very stressful.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I always found that when I was going on Bayshore.
- 5:34Speaker 2: I'm like, if you want to do a U-turn, you
- 5:36Speaker 2: got to go. It's like 10 minutes of driving before
- 5:38Speaker 2: you're like, all right, finally can flip this thing around.
- 5:40Speaker 4: I know.
- 5:41Speaker 3: For Davis Island, you could just walk to that Publix,
- 5:44Speaker 3: can't you? Like, get a little wagon. You could be...
- 5:45Speaker 3: My grandma used to do that. Get a little wagon.
- 5:47Speaker 3: You go get your groceries.
- 5:49Speaker 4: But if you need anything that's, like, refrigerated or frozen
- 5:51Speaker 4: or something, that's a... I mean, it's a 45-minute walk.
- 5:54Speaker 4: Maybe not 45 minutes. It's probably, like, 30 minutes. And
- 5:57Speaker 4: I will say going over the bridge is a little
- 5:58Speaker 4: dicey that I just wouldn't want to be in a
- 6:02Speaker 4: position where I.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Couldn't, like, get out if I needed.
- 6:05Speaker 3: No, that makes sense.
- 6:06Speaker 4: Not that I feel unsafe, but, I mean, it's just not... Yeah,
- 6:08Speaker 4: it's not going to be, like, my.
- 6:10Speaker 3: Go to.
- 6:10Speaker 2: It's like what I'm learning is like you got to
- 6:12Speaker 2: keep your head on a swivel at all times, especially
- 6:14Speaker 2: around these areas.
- 6:15Speaker 4: Something worse can happen to you other than getting a
- 6:17Speaker 4: Mary Kay Ponzi scheme.
- 6:19Speaker 3: I used to like those Mary Kay Cadillacs. That almost
- 6:22Speaker 3: got me. They're really sweet.
- 6:23Speaker 1: I was about to say, I'm like, yeah, that adds up.
- 6:27Speaker 3: I fall for a lot of things. I've paid for
- 6:28Speaker 3: a lot of dumb things in my life. I've learned.
- 6:30Speaker 2: I think as I'm about to hit 30, I think
- 6:32Speaker 2: I'm done with all that junk for now.
- 6:35Speaker 3: One of the things I.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Wanted to hit on, especially for all the Atlanta folks,
- 6:38Speaker 2: is the restaurant that I keep seeing pop up everywhere,
- 6:40Speaker 2: the Real Tacos.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Yes, we got a Real Tacos, you guys.
- 6:43Speaker 4: And it's so funny because one of my last restaurant
- 6:45Speaker 4: meals in Atlanta was Real Tacos. And I remember thinking, dang,
- 6:49Speaker 4: I was at the one on the Beltline. And if
- 6:50Speaker 4: you've been there, you know it's right outside Ponce City Market.
- 6:53Speaker 4: And so you can go get a margarita and get
- 6:54Speaker 4: tacos and then you can bop around the Beltline. And
- 6:56Speaker 4: I remember taking myself on a solo date there going.
- 6:59Speaker 1: This is so nice.
- 7:00Speaker 4: I'm going to miss this. Like I'm surrounded by so
- 7:01Speaker 4: many people. I love that I could just bop around
- 7:03Speaker 4: and do whatever I want. And now there's a fricking
- 7:06Speaker 4: real tacos here.
- 7:07Speaker 2: We're just taking all the ones. I do want to
- 7:09Speaker 2: know more about this restaurant though. I mean, it's just,
- 7:10Speaker 2: it's just a Mexican restaurant.
- 7:11Speaker 1: It's just good.
- 7:12Speaker 3: It looks really nice though.
- 7:13Speaker 2: Like based off of the, like the pictures and the
- 7:15Speaker 2: videos I saw from Tampa Terrence, who we had on
- 7:17Speaker 2: this podcast a few months ago, It looked sweet.
- 7:19Speaker 3: It looked massive is what it seemed like.
- 7:21Speaker 4: It's a cool restaurant and they always deck it out
- 7:24Speaker 4: for the holidays. I think that's like the shtick is
- 7:26Speaker 4: so when it's Christmas, they kind of have like a
- 7:27Speaker 4: very colorful Christmassy vibe when it's Halloween. It's very spooky
- 7:31Speaker 4: in there. And then that's those are the only two
- 7:33Speaker 4: I can think of. But yeah, they always decorate it
- 7:34Speaker 4: in a really interesting way.
- 7:36Speaker 2: I could definitely Google this, but like where in Tampa is.
- 7:39Speaker 3: It, though?
- 7:40Speaker 1: I think it's downtown. Let's check.
- 7:41Speaker 4: Cause I think I was like, can I walk to that?
- 7:42Speaker 4: Cause I do try and walk as much as possible.
- 7:44Speaker 2: Cause I know, I thought it was that fancy Mexican
- 7:47Speaker 2: restaurant that we just opened up.
- 7:48Speaker 1: No, that's a different one.
- 7:49Speaker 4: This is more just like your casual, like middle of
- 7:52Speaker 4: the road. Not that like it's good. It's not like
- 7:56Speaker 4: Olive Garden or it's not, you know, Chili's, but it's
- 7:59Speaker 4: not like a Michelin star.
- 8:00Speaker 3: You're not going to break your, you know, your bank
- 8:02Speaker 3: just to get a taco.
- 8:03Speaker 1: It's like a good place to go on a Friday
- 8:05Speaker 1: night before you go to the bars.
- 8:06Speaker 3: Yeah, that sounds nice.
- 8:07Speaker 4: It's just nice enough that you can dress up for it.
- 8:09Speaker 4: But if you're like in shorts and a t-shirt, you're fine.
- 8:11Speaker 3: It's fine.
- 8:11Speaker 1: So it's right.
- 8:12Speaker 4: It's downtown, downtown. So it's not in Channel Side. It's
- 8:15Speaker 4: right near Franklin Street. Oh.
- 8:20Speaker 1: It's at the corner of Franklin and Polk. street near
- 8:26Speaker 1: the Tampa theater.
- 8:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:27Speaker 2: I know where that area is at that area. It's always, well,
- 8:30Speaker 2: in my opinion, it's always struggled. We used to do
- 8:32Speaker 2: like crazy bar nights out over there at a place
- 8:35Speaker 2: that definitely closed down. And then, you know, there's tapas
- 8:38Speaker 2: places over there that closed down like a lot of businesses.
- 8:41Speaker 3: It's interesting.
- 8:42Speaker 2: And I'm sure this is everywhere, but there are certain
- 8:43Speaker 2: areas that no matter what restaurant you put there, it
- 8:47Speaker 2: just doesn't seem to ever work.
- 8:49Speaker 1: And I don't want to go there.
- 8:50Speaker 3: I guess.
- 8:51Speaker 4: I mean, that's not too far from five 11 and
- 8:52Speaker 4: gin joint. And I feel like that would be a,
- 8:55Speaker 4: A pipeline like go to Real Tacos and then go
- 8:57Speaker 4: to Gin Joint and or 511?
- 8:59Speaker 2: Downtown Tampa, I wonder how you feel about this because
- 9:01Speaker 2: I'm sure downtown Atlanta is popping.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Well, it depends on when you say downtown Atlanta, what
- 9:05Speaker 1: you mean.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Okay, like I don't know because I've never been to
- 9:07Speaker 2: like it. When I think of downtown Tampa, I think
- 9:09Speaker 2: of those streets. And if you drive through downtown Tampa,
- 9:11Speaker 2: it's just it's never really busy.
- 9:13Speaker 3: It's not like the streets are bustling with people.
- 9:15Speaker 4: Yeah, so that's kind of how downtown Atlanta is. But
- 9:17Speaker 4: that's downtown Atlanta. The thing is, is you can go
- 9:20Speaker 4: to Midtown and Midtown is what you would think of
- 9:22Speaker 4: when you think of a downtown town.
- 9:23Speaker 3: Gotcha. So would that be comparable to like our channel
- 9:26Speaker 3: side channel side? Okay.
- 9:27Speaker 4: Midtown is equivalent to channel side. Um, kind of, sort of,
- 9:31Speaker 4: I mean, obviously big differences, but at the same time, like, yeah,
- 9:36Speaker 4: I would say Midtown is like channel side. And then
- 9:38Speaker 4: the Beltline Virginia Highlands is kind of like St.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Pete.
- 9:43Speaker 4: Sort of like it's walkable. It's a little bit more
- 9:45Speaker 4: like hipstery, but it's still kind of a cool place.
- 9:47Speaker 3: To go out. Yeah. Okay.
- 9:49Speaker 2: I say that because it's like when I think of
- 9:50Speaker 2: gin joint, like I, I forget about that place all
- 9:52Speaker 2: the time. It's not on the main strip of like
- 9:54Speaker 2: Riverwalk where everything's just lined up and it's beautiful.
- 9:57Speaker 3: But that's one of the most beautiful spots. You could
- 10:00Speaker 3: go and have a great cocktail. Yeah.
- 10:01Speaker 4: I mean, the whole Riverwalk channel side area is great.
- 10:04Speaker 4: Like I when it's not disgusting out, I love to
- 10:07Speaker 4: walk and bop on down there and then spend $ 60
- 10:10Speaker 4: on an entree.
- 10:11Speaker 3: Yeah, that's the only part. It's like you're going to
- 10:13Speaker 3: go out there and you're going to have to spend
- 10:14Speaker 3: a lot of money.
- 10:14Speaker 1: It's so expensive.
- 10:15Speaker 4: It's actually to the point where I think I've reached
- 10:17Speaker 4: like I don't want to go out and channel side
- 10:20Speaker 4: for above or for food because it's so it's like
- 10:23Speaker 4: obnoxiously expensive.
- 10:24Speaker 1: It's like New York prices.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:26Speaker 3: And that's one of the things like I I like
- 10:28Speaker 3: going out every now and then.
- 10:29Speaker 2: But one of my favorite things is like my birthday
- 10:31Speaker 2: is coming up and Brianna's continue to ask me, like.
- 10:33Speaker 3: What do you want to do?
- 10:33Speaker 2: Honestly, I love either doing something at home or someone
- 10:38Speaker 2: else's home where you could get so much more.
- 10:41Speaker 3: For way cheaper.
- 10:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:43Speaker 4: Or I mean, just even going to downtown St. Pete,
- 10:44Speaker 4: like even downtown St. Pete's not that expensive. You just
- 10:47Speaker 4: have to pay $ 75 for an Uber.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:49Speaker 3: Which is very expensive.
- 10:50Speaker 4: But I mean, that's why people are like, man, you've
- 10:52Speaker 4: been to a lot of lightning games this year. I'm like, yeah,
- 10:54Speaker 4: we have club tickets. I can get blacked out for free. No,
- 10:57Speaker 4: I'm kidding.
- 10:58Speaker 1: I'm not getting blacked out. But like, yeah, I'm like Thursday.
- 11:00Speaker 4: I'm like, why would I go to Channel Side and
- 11:02Speaker 4: get a bunch of drinks when I can sit there,
- 11:03Speaker 4: bring one friend that I can gossip with? And then
- 11:06Speaker 4: get free food and bev.
- 11:07Speaker 3: It's a great environment for that.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Instead of just going to squeeze shoulders in a bar
- 11:11Speaker 2: and then spend 20 bucks on a glass of wine.
- 11:13Speaker 1: So shout out to my favorite person, Maiko. Love you.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Love you, bestie. Love you, queen diva.
- 11:17Speaker 2: Speaking of Maiko, I did try to use the connect
- 11:19Speaker 2: one more time for.
- 11:20Speaker 1: You did? For what?
- 11:22Speaker 3: For pig jig this upcoming weekend.
- 11:23Speaker 1: But aren't you working pig jig? So by the way,
- 11:25Speaker 1: what is pig jig?
- 11:26Speaker 3: Okay, so let me kind of break it down. So
- 11:27Speaker 3: this upcoming weekend, there's a massive country fest. Coming to Tampa.
- 11:31Speaker 4: Okay.
- 11:32Speaker 2: So Pig Jig is a massive country concert while other
- 11:35Speaker 2: people are barbecuing.
- 11:37Speaker 3: So it's like a barbecue competition. Fun.
- 11:39Speaker 2: And full disclosure, I've never gone. I've always heard about it,
- 11:42Speaker 2: but I've never gone. I grew up loving country music. Yeah.
- 11:46Speaker 2: But for a while, I kind of dropped off because
- 11:48Speaker 2: there were some artists that I just didn't like.
- 11:51Speaker 3: I didn't really see eye to eye with them.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Care to name a few?
- 11:53Speaker 2: Nah, I'm good because I'm sure they're somebody's favorite. But
- 11:56Speaker 2: there also are a lot of country artists that I love.
- 11:59Speaker 2: And some of those artists are coming this week in
- 12:01Speaker 2: a pig jig. And my girlfriend got me back into
- 12:04Speaker 2: loving country music. Yeah. So we're going to go out there.
- 12:06Speaker 2: We have a friend that's going to be barbecuing. So
- 12:08Speaker 2: they're going to be in the actual competition.
- 12:09Speaker 1: And Thomas Rhett is performing.
- 12:10Speaker 3: And Thomas Rhett's performing.
- 12:11Speaker 4: Thomas Rhett is like the Bruno Mars of country music
- 12:14Speaker 4: because he has so many hits that you forget about.
- 12:16Speaker 2: That is a great comparison because I was listening to
- 12:18Speaker 2: him as I was driving in this morning. I'm like, damn,
- 12:20Speaker 2: he brings me back to high school. Like when I'm
- 12:22Speaker 2: driving and I'm like, you make me wanna.
- 12:24Speaker 4: You wanna.
- 12:25Speaker 1: I was thinking of the same song. I love that song.
- 12:28Speaker 4: Like I used to go on walks in college and
- 12:30Speaker 4: listen to that song and sort of be like, I
- 12:32Speaker 4: can't wait to go to the frat party.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Tonight and hear that song.
- 12:35Speaker 4: Like, we were in college during the best era of music.
- 12:39Speaker 3: I agree 100%.
- 12:40Speaker 1: We didn't know how good we had it.
- 12:43Speaker 2: It makes me think, like, what college kids are listening
- 12:45Speaker 2: to now. Like, if you walked into a college party
- 12:48Speaker 2: right now, what songs are they playing.
- 12:50Speaker 3: That you're like, yeah.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Wait, that's a great question.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what I mean. Like, there's nothing.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Because even we play, I mean, we play fine songs
- 12:56Speaker 2: on the show. But there aren't party songs. I'm looking
- 13:00Speaker 2: at the songs right now. Okay, like Dracula, the remix.
- 13:05Speaker 2: I think the song that would get people going would
- 13:06Speaker 2: be like, I had some help, Post Malone, Morgan Wallen.
- 13:09Speaker 3: That'd be a good one. But back in our day,
- 13:11Speaker 3: I mean, it was like.
- 13:12Speaker 4: Thomas Rhett. But we had a good mix because we
- 13:15Speaker 4: went to college in the South. I don't know what
- 13:16Speaker 4: USF was listening to. We had like a pretty hard line.
- 13:19Speaker 4: It was like 2015 to 2016, it was pop and country.
- 13:21Speaker 4: And then I feel like 2017 to 2018, it was
- 13:23Speaker 4: country and rap.
- 13:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Like, well, there was even a little bit of rap
- 13:30Speaker 1: in the beginning, like.
- 13:31Speaker 4: Trap Queen was huge when I was a freshman. Broccoli, Caroline,
- 13:37Speaker 4: Jordan Belfort. I mean, like generational hits.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Mo Bamba.
- 13:44Speaker 3: Is this what our parents feel like when they're talking
- 13:46Speaker 3: about their heyday?
- 13:46Speaker 1: But I mean, like hearing Mo Bamba, I have like
- 13:49Speaker 1: this vivid. Oh, my God, I'm gonna cry.
- 13:51Speaker 4: Yeah. I feel like I'm talking about the Mona Lisa,
- 13:54Speaker 4: and I'm literally like... I have this vivid memory of
- 13:57Speaker 4: being in a frat house. It was either Theta Chi
- 13:59Speaker 4: or Pi Cap, because it was one of the newer houses.
- 14:01Speaker 1: That's what I'm picturing. I think it was Theta Chi.
- 14:04Speaker 2: And.
- 14:04Speaker 4: mo bamba is blasting so hard that the floors are
- 14:09Speaker 4: shaking and that's how that song was that's how the
- 14:11Speaker 4: lord intended you to listen to mo bamba as it
- 14:14Speaker 4: should be you walk in and you hear you know
- 14:16Speaker 4: it's gonna be a good night and then that part
- 14:21Speaker 4: and the song's not even that good but then the
- 14:23Speaker 4: part where like there's a silence and.
- 14:24Speaker 3: He goes everyone's screaming it we just sound.
- 14:31Speaker 4: Like absolute crazy people if you don't know that song
- 14:34Speaker 4: please go listen to mobamba with your bass turned all
- 14:36Speaker 4: the way up if you've never listened to it and
- 14:38Speaker 4: just picture being in college and being in a frat
- 14:40Speaker 4: house yes where.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Like it's dark and everyone's packed in it's shoulder to
- 14:44Speaker 2: shoulder you're kind of probably pretty drunk at this point
- 14:46Speaker 2: yeah and screaming those lyrics.
- 14:48Speaker 4: Together you can't feel your face you've had like five
- 14:51Speaker 4: different white claws oh my god i'm gonna.
- 14:54Speaker 2: Tear up i know i know it goes so fast
- 14:57Speaker 2: that's what i wonder i'm like i don't know what the.
- 14:58Speaker 3: Kids are listening to the kids let me post on.
- 15:00Speaker 1: The tiki talk i feel like that's a good question that.
- 15:02Speaker 2: Is a good question let me if you're in college
- 15:04Speaker 2: right now what are your like this is this is
- 15:07Speaker 2: it or because what i've noticed because i don't dj
- 15:11Speaker 2: as much anymore but when i dj A lot of
- 15:13Speaker 2: the songs that get everyone still going are the songs
- 15:15Speaker 2: that you and I grew up with.
- 15:16Speaker 4: But I mean, think about the stars, like the pop
- 15:18Speaker 4: stars that are still big right now. It's all the
- 15:20Speaker 4: people that were still cool 10 years ago.
- 15:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Taylor Swift. I mean, Selena Gomez doesn't do music.
- 15:25Speaker 4: Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, like the people that... Like, that's
- 15:28Speaker 4: our generation. And our generation is just cool. I just
- 15:31Speaker 4: don't think there was a pipeline to find that next
- 15:34Speaker 4: star because we were fed so well. Yeah.
- 15:36Speaker 3: I mean, we had a lot of good ones.
- 15:38Speaker 2: And now it's like the artists that are cool now,
- 15:40Speaker 2: they don't have those bangers that you could really like
- 15:44Speaker 2: turn up to.
- 15:44Speaker 3: Like we play like Benson Boone. Great. Sabrina Carpenter.
- 15:48Speaker 1: I'm not turning that on Theta Chi.
- 15:49Speaker 3: I know. Well, like Sabrina Carpenter. Probably not.
- 15:52Speaker 2: Unless they have a cool remix of it. You know,
- 15:54Speaker 2: that's not going to be the one that gets it.
- 15:55Speaker 3: Chaperone? Maybe. You know, I've played Pink Pony Club. It
- 16:00Speaker 3: just starts slow.
- 16:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 16:01Speaker 3: But everyone raves to that one.
- 16:02Speaker 4: I think Chaperone could have been like our generation's Lady Gaga.
- 16:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Or, you know, the generation below us, maybe like Gen Alpha,
- 16:11Speaker 1: Gen Z.
- 16:12Speaker 4: But I think she got famous in the wrong era. Yeah.
- 16:16Speaker 4: if that makes sense because i think she got famous
- 16:18Speaker 4: too fast and i just don't think people are equipped
- 16:21Speaker 4: to handle that kind of fame like even ella langley
- 16:23Speaker 4: is talking about how she has to go back home
- 16:25Speaker 4: and be like uh like what's going on i just
- 16:28Speaker 4: saw the most interesting quote from tate mcrae where she's
- 16:31Speaker 4: like yeah when you're a pop girl you have to
- 16:33Speaker 4: literally fight against everything in your body to not become
- 16:36Speaker 4: the worst human ever and i was like that's so
- 16:39Speaker 4: interesting hearing somebody say that because you know that that
- 16:42Speaker 4: happens when fame or recognition comes around like.
- 16:45Speaker 1: It just changes you.
- 16:46Speaker 4: And I don't think the people that it's happening to
- 16:48Speaker 4: realize that they're changing because their normal is so abnormal
- 16:52Speaker 4: and they don't know how to handle it. Nobody knows
- 16:54Speaker 4: how to help them handle it, but they just end
- 16:56Speaker 4: up becoming like.
- 16:56Speaker 1: These crazy people.
- 16:57Speaker 3: Oh my gosh.
- 16:58Speaker 2: And that's where, you know, TikTok has been so great
- 17:00Speaker 2: for artists, but because you have one video that goes viral,
- 17:04Speaker 2: all of a sudden you're like, wait a second. Yeah,
- 17:05Speaker 2: I have a good voice, but I love when an artist,
- 17:08Speaker 2: and I love their story, if they've been grinding for
- 17:10Speaker 2: years and really have earned that spotlight of like, oh,
- 17:13Speaker 2: you played for the smaller crowds.
- 17:14Speaker 3: You played at the fairgrounds. You did your runs.
- 17:17Speaker 2: And now you finally feel and appreciate the moment that
- 17:21Speaker 2: you're on one of the biggest stages in the world.
- 17:22Speaker 1: I feel like Olivia Deen is a really good example
- 17:24Speaker 1: of that.
- 17:25Speaker 4: Because I feel like she had low-key success for a while.
- 17:28Speaker 4: I mean, for the love of God, I think she
- 17:29Speaker 4: was dating Harry Styles at one point a couple years ago. Wow.
- 17:32Speaker 1: So, I mean, she's not.
- 17:35Speaker 4: She's not out of the loop, but I think when
- 17:37Speaker 4: her moment came, she was fully prepared to be the superstar.
- 17:41Speaker 1: That she's becoming.
- 17:42Speaker 4: Yeah. Whereas I think you have a couple really big
- 17:45Speaker 4: songs pop off on TikTok and you haven't had that legwork.
- 17:49Speaker 1: You're kind of like.
- 17:51Speaker 3: I don't think they get. I mean, it's like you said,
- 17:52Speaker 3: I don't think you could handle it pressure wise.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Yes.
- 17:55Speaker 3: I was like, once you have a hit, it's like, OK,
- 17:57Speaker 3: another one, another one, another one.
- 17:59Speaker 2: And here's all this money and all you got to
- 18:01Speaker 2: make the runs and you got to go meet the people.
- 18:02Speaker 2: You got to be in the spotlight all the time, which, yeah,
- 18:06Speaker 2: you might be talented, but maybe that's not what you're
- 18:08Speaker 2: going for.
- 18:08Speaker 3: Yeah. I don't know.
- 18:09Speaker 2: Like, you know, I think of right now and we've
- 18:11Speaker 2: talked to her. I love like a Stella Lefty. Yeah.
- 18:15Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 18:16Speaker 3: You know it.
- 18:18Speaker 1: People are so mad at her.
- 18:19Speaker 3: So mad. I hate that actually.
- 18:20Speaker 4: They're calling her Stella Thefty because a lot of her
- 18:22Speaker 4: songs sound like other songs or they think maybe she
- 18:25Speaker 4: used AI to create the songs.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:28Speaker 2: She's somebody that, one, I love her songs. I don't
- 18:31Speaker 2: really care about that whole like copy or not, whatever.
- 18:34Speaker 2: But sometimes I see her and I'm like, dang, they
- 18:36Speaker 2: are running her ragged right now of just like, yeah,
- 18:38Speaker 2: you wanted to be a singer. She's even said she
- 18:41Speaker 2: wants to be a songwriter and then all of a
- 18:43Speaker 2: sudden she just became a singer and she really likes it.
- 18:45Speaker 3: But now that comes with the price. You're on the road.
- 18:48Speaker 2: All the time performing when you are exhausted. And if
- 18:51Speaker 2: you just look at certain interviews, you're like, oh, girl,
- 18:54Speaker 2: they are running you to the ground quick.
- 18:56Speaker 1: And here's the.
- 18:57Speaker 4: Thing about the whole Stella Thefty situation. I don't care
- 19:01Speaker 4: if you've used melodies or interpolations or whatever. Like, if
- 19:04Speaker 4: I like the song, I like the song. As long
- 19:06Speaker 4: as the person is getting credit for it, if they
- 19:09Speaker 4: deserve credit, then who cares?
- 19:10Speaker 1: Like, literally, who cares?
- 19:12Speaker 2: And that's where I got so mad at people online
- 19:14Speaker 2: because they're like, She literally has credit and everyone's big
- 19:18Speaker 2: one is with Boston with Noah Khan.
- 19:20Speaker 1: But she gave Noah Khan credit.
- 19:21Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 19:22Speaker 3: And I still can't hear the song and think of
- 19:24Speaker 3: Noah Khan song.
- 19:25Speaker 4: It doesn't sound anything like Noah Khan song to me.
- 19:28Speaker 4: Which I don't know anything about music, so by all means,
- 19:30Speaker 4: feel free to go off. If you're like, hey, the
- 19:32Speaker 4: interpolation's the same, that's fine.
- 19:33Speaker 1: She gave him credit.
- 19:34Speaker 2: She literally did what she needed to do, and that's
- 19:36Speaker 2: give credit to the artist who had the song before.
- 19:38Speaker 4: But every single artist, every single major artist has had
- 19:42Speaker 4: some kind of lawsuit where they're like, hey, you're copying this.
- 19:45Speaker 4: Just because there's only so many chords or so many
- 19:48Speaker 4: things that sound assertive. way or so many lyrics that
- 19:52Speaker 4: you can say so many ways you can phrase something.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Ed Sheeran's had a bunch over the past couple of
- 19:56Speaker 2: years where he's gotten in trouble, especially like with Marvin
- 19:58Speaker 2: Gaye and Marvin Gaye's family coming for his songs.
- 20:01Speaker 3: I'm like, Yeah, I mean, it might be slightly similar,
- 20:03Speaker 3: but y'all.
- 20:05Speaker 4: Come on.
- 20:05Speaker 3: It has nothing to do with that song.
- 20:07Speaker 1: No, I know.
- 20:07Speaker 2: He's not copying it to be like, oh, I'm going
- 20:09Speaker 2: to take a Marvin Gaye song. Stella Lefty's not trying
- 20:11Speaker 2: to take a Noah Khan song.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Or sometimes maybe I think it really is by accident.
- 20:15Speaker 4: Like you're like making something and it sounds like you
- 20:18Speaker 4: don't realize you're drawing upon your memories.
- 20:20Speaker 1: And then of course, like give credit or whatever.
- 20:22Speaker 3: But yeah, I don't know.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just interesting to see all these artists on TikTok.
- 20:26Speaker 2: It's like, yeah, you want to be famous. But I
- 20:27Speaker 2: think we've talked about this before. Like, yeah, I would
- 20:29Speaker 2: like to be, you know. But if it just happened overnight,
- 20:33Speaker 2: that's a weird feeling.
- 20:34Speaker 1: You don't know how to handle it.
- 20:36Speaker 4: Yeah. And I think you also have a lot of
- 20:38Speaker 4: self-doubt because it comes so easy that you're like, did
- 20:40Speaker 4: I just get really lucky?
- 20:42Speaker 1: Do you know what I mean?
- 20:42Speaker 4: That I think that also gets in their head a
- 20:45Speaker 4: lot to where, you know, yesterday you were nobody and
- 20:47Speaker 4: today you're somebody. I described it because I was talking
- 20:50Speaker 4: about going viral on my sub stack because I was
- 20:52Speaker 4: talking about the Shane Gillis situation.
- 20:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:53Speaker 1: Which I have a small update about that. Okay.
- 20:57Speaker 4: Is going viral when you're not used to getting a
- 21:01Speaker 4: certain amount of attention is sort of like being on
- 21:03Speaker 4: the Carousel of Progress at Disney. Have you ever been there?
- 21:05Speaker 4: Have you ever ridden that ride or seen that show?
- 21:07Speaker 4: The Carousel of Progress is essentially like a moving stage.
- 21:10Speaker 4: So you're sitting in an audience and the whole room
- 21:15Speaker 4: spins to take you to different stages.
- 21:17Speaker 3: Okay.
- 21:18Speaker 4: And so the way I describe going viral is when
- 21:21Speaker 4: you open up your phone and you say something, it's
- 21:23Speaker 4: sort of like you're at an open mic night in your.
- 21:27Speaker 1: in your hometown.
- 21:28Speaker 4: And then all of a sudden you're on the carousel
- 21:29Speaker 4: of progress and you flip to the next room and.
- 21:31Speaker 1: You're at Madison square garden.
- 21:33Speaker 3: Oh yeah.
- 21:33Speaker 4: Because that's how quickly it can happen. And that's literally
- 21:37Speaker 4: what going viral is. I mean, I posted something yesterday
- 21:40Speaker 4: that has 515,000 views. I posted that in my kitchen.
- 21:44Speaker 4: I was at open mic night. And now all of
- 21:46Speaker 4: a sudden I'm at fucking Mercedes Benz stadiums, five nights.
- 21:50Speaker 1: In a row. Do you know what I mean? Like
- 21:51Speaker 1: that's the wild thing about the internet.
- 21:53Speaker 2: Yeah. And it can make you, I mean, I know
- 21:56Speaker 2: it personally when those moments happen, it's, it could be
- 21:59Speaker 2: in a weird way, addicting very quick, but also it
- 22:02Speaker 2: kind of runs you ragged. Cause you're like, well now
- 22:04Speaker 2: what do I got to post again? I got to
- 22:05Speaker 2: stay up with it. I got to keep all these comments.
- 22:07Speaker 2: And then it's like, we've also experienced, well then people,
- 22:09Speaker 2: if you're at Madison square garden, you're a lot of
- 22:12Speaker 2: people love you.
- 22:13Speaker 3: There's also going to be people that hate you just
- 22:14Speaker 3: because you're at Madison Square Garden.
- 22:16Speaker 2: And if you can't handle that hate, it's a very
- 22:18Speaker 2: uncomfortable feeling because you're like, yo, all I did is
- 22:20Speaker 2: put a video up.
- 22:21Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 22:22Speaker 3: And now you hate me for it.
- 22:23Speaker 2: I know.
- 22:23Speaker 4: And so I'm glad that I'm at the age now
- 22:25Speaker 4: when I've received all the horror comments from the Shane
- 22:27Speaker 4: Gillis fans, because I genuinely kind of like just what
- 22:30Speaker 4: we talked about with the people who have to work
- 22:32Speaker 4: their way up to getting a certain amount of attention
- 22:34Speaker 4: to really be able to handle it well. I've gone
- 22:36Speaker 4: viral so many times just on random occasions that I
- 22:40Speaker 4: know that you got to post. And as long as
- 22:43Speaker 4: it's not a cancelable offense, like you using some kind of,
- 22:45Speaker 4: I don't know, offensive word, like the word whore towards
- 22:47Speaker 4: a woman.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:49Speaker 4: Like you put your phone down and don't don't ingest it.
- 22:52Speaker 4: Like you put out your work.
- 22:53Speaker 1: And you move on.
- 22:54Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 22:55Speaker 2: It's not this thing that I think for me, when
- 22:57Speaker 2: I think about it, if I was 24, I wouldn't
- 23:00Speaker 2: have been able to handle it.
- 23:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:02Speaker 2: I just know myself. I was I was well, I
- 23:04Speaker 2: was mature enough. But I still think my ego would
- 23:06Speaker 2: have gotten to me if I had just quick success.
- 23:09Speaker 2: All of a sudden it just came. Money came and
- 23:11Speaker 2: stages came where I look at it. I'm like, OK,
- 23:13Speaker 2: you needed those times to kind of really appreciate every
- 23:16Speaker 2: stage along the way, which that's when you have an
- 23:20Speaker 2: open mic like your phone and you could just one
- 23:22Speaker 2: day create an account and then just be one of
- 23:24Speaker 2: the biggest influencers in the world. That's an insane feeling
- 23:28Speaker 2: that sadly we are seeing a lot of the people that,
- 23:32Speaker 2: you know, probably shouldn't be there.
- 23:35Speaker 3: But they have it. Well, I don't need to name
- 23:37Speaker 3: any names right now.
- 23:38Speaker 1: Yeah, but it is cool, though. Like, yesterday, I got
- 23:40Speaker 1: an email from the Huffington Post.
- 23:41Speaker 3: What?
- 23:42Speaker 4: I'm getting interviewed for a Shane Gillis article.
- 23:44Speaker 2: What?
- 23:45Speaker 1: I've been working on my answers all morning.
- 23:47Speaker 3: What the fuck? I know.
- 23:49Speaker 1: I'm trying to, like, figure out the right way to
- 23:51Speaker 1: say what I want to say.
- 23:52Speaker 3: That's crazy.
- 23:54Speaker 1: I know, isn't that wild?
- 23:55Speaker 3: How many, okay, what the fuck?
- 23:56Speaker 1: It's just, like, three questions.
- 23:57Speaker 4: It's really not that big of a deal, but I
- 23:58Speaker 4: was like, oh, my God, I'm, like, getting noticed.
- 24:01Speaker 3: Yeah, that's, I mean, it's.
- 24:01Speaker 1: Am I an influencer?
- 24:03Speaker 2: Uh, yes, that's an easy answer, but what is, um,
- 24:07Speaker 2: what is that video at, like, views or like what?
- 24:09Speaker 4: I think it's, the one on my Instagram's at a million,
- 24:12Speaker 4: and then I have two other ones.
- 24:13Speaker 1: One's at 500k, one's at, like, 400k.
- 24:16Speaker 3: That's crazy.
- 24:16Speaker 1: And then I posted the mugshot one, that one got 600k.
- 24:19Speaker 3: Oh my god, yeah, you're tapping.
- 24:21Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 24:22Speaker 3: That's cool, though.
- 24:23Speaker 2: I mean, here's the deal with the Shane Gill, like,
- 24:25Speaker 2: those things deserve to be discussed.
- 24:27Speaker 4: 100%.
- 24:27Speaker 1: Everyone's allowed to have a say.
- 24:31Speaker 2: What's crazy is that, you know, and again, the people
- 24:35Speaker 2: that can't try to see or understand exactly what you're
- 24:37Speaker 2: trying to say or other influencers like you that are saying.
- 24:40Speaker 3: Yeah. Like, those are the people that bother me. I'm like,
- 24:43Speaker 3: listen for a second. Just listen. Like, forget the joke
- 24:45Speaker 3: just for a second. The crazy thing is it's not.
- 24:48Speaker 3: I know that's that's.
- 24:49Speaker 4: That's what I the whole thing that enrages me is
- 24:51Speaker 4: they're like it's a joke by the way I'm.
- 24:52Speaker 2: Like you know why people say it's a joke because
- 24:54Speaker 2: he's a comedian yeah like let's just take the fact
- 24:57Speaker 2: that like let's say if we just stripped aside Shane
- 24:59Speaker 2: Gillis's name and we just heard the phrase let's just
- 25:02Speaker 2: hear the joke I've.
- 25:04Speaker 4: Been to the gym that's that's in my answer do
- 25:06Speaker 4: you want to hear it oh my god yes so
- 25:08Speaker 4: I got asked about like how did I feel about
- 25:10Speaker 4: it just in general And I'm very proud of this line.
- 25:13Speaker 4: The last line says, I post. Oh, wait, I'll just
- 25:17Speaker 4: give you my answer. And I might change this. I
- 25:19Speaker 4: might workshop this a little bit more. But I just
- 25:22Speaker 4: said I I thought Shane's comment was pretty distasteful. And
- 25:25Speaker 4: what I find worse is the amount of hatred directed
- 25:27Speaker 4: at women who simply said they didn't think it was funny.
- 25:30Speaker 4: I posted a video online saying as much. Men in
- 25:32Speaker 4: my comments were very quick to call me every name
- 25:34Speaker 4: under the sun, including whore, and we all understood exactly
- 25:38Speaker 4: what they meant by that. But when a comedian says
- 25:40Speaker 4: the exact same thing on a stage, I'm supposed to
- 25:43Speaker 4: take it.
- 25:43Speaker 3: As a joke. That's a great answer.
- 25:45Speaker 4: Right.
- 25:45Speaker 1: Girl, I got some good lines in here. Yeah, because
- 25:49Speaker 1: I'm like, there's so many people that are like, it's
- 25:51Speaker 1: a joke.
- 25:51Speaker 4: And I think they just say that to make themselves
- 25:53Speaker 4: feel more comfortable about the fact that they weren't bothered
- 25:58Speaker 4: by it. Then they are bothered by the fact that
- 26:00Speaker 4: you're bothered by it. Cause I think it calls out
- 26:02Speaker 4: whatever like weirdness is in them. Like if I find
- 26:05Speaker 4: it funny and I'm sitting here saying, why do you
- 26:08Speaker 4: find that funny? Um, it makes them more comfortable to speak.
- 26:10Speaker 1: Well, it's a joke. It's a joke.
- 26:12Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 26:12Speaker 3: If it's a joke, you should be able to, anybody
- 26:14Speaker 3: should be able to.
- 26:14Speaker 1: Read it back and explain why it's explaining to me
- 26:18Speaker 1: why it's funny.
- 26:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 26:18Speaker 2: It's like, cause I can't really think of the exact
- 26:20Speaker 2: quote right now, but it's like what I just started
- 26:23Speaker 2: going to the gym again and what women.
- 26:25Speaker 3: Are dressed as whores.
- 26:26Speaker 4: That's i'm like wait if you said that on this
- 26:29Speaker 4: podcast do you know how many people would be like
- 26:33Speaker 4: get him off on filter get him off we're a
- 26:35Speaker 4: women leading station if you said and of course people
- 26:38Speaker 4: are gonna say well the context is different and you
- 26:40Speaker 4: know he said other things afterwards i'm like no he
- 26:43Speaker 4: literally i mean that was it those were the words
- 26:46Speaker 4: that he said and then he kept going and then
- 26:48Speaker 4: didn't even have a joke he just described what women
- 26:50Speaker 4: wore he was like and then they wear the scrunchie.
- 26:55Speaker 1: What are they called? The scrunchie shorts.
- 26:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:57Speaker 4: The scrunchie shorts. And I'm like, yeah, that's how they
- 27:01Speaker 4: make them on Amazon.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Correct.
- 27:03Speaker 3: That's the clothing.
- 27:04Speaker 4: You know?
- 27:05Speaker 3: It is fascinating.
- 27:06Speaker 2: I appreciate when people are able to have discussions about it.
- 27:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:12Speaker 4: The funny thing is I wasn't even really bothered by
- 27:14Speaker 4: it that much. I'm more bothered by the fact that
- 27:16Speaker 4: there's so many men online saying, You should find it funny.
- 27:20Speaker 4: Like this is a derogatory term used to describe women.
- 27:24Speaker 1: You should find it funny. Why are you telling me
- 27:26Speaker 1: I should find this funny? I'm going on my soapbox.
- 27:28Speaker 2: Anyway, I mean, it's really cool that one you're getting
- 27:30Speaker 2: noticed in that way to be able to talk about
- 27:32Speaker 2: these things because you do have really good opinions on things.
- 27:34Speaker 1: Well, because I just don't understand.
- 27:36Speaker 4: And I said this on our DM disaster, which sorry,
- 27:39Speaker 4: by the way, it's the third day in a row
- 27:40Speaker 4: we're talking about this. If you don't know if the
- 27:43Speaker 4: Shane Gillis thing is at this point, just Google it. Um,
- 27:46Speaker 4: we were doing a DM disaster where one of our
- 27:47Speaker 4: callers called in and said, I don't know how to
- 27:49Speaker 4: feel about the fact that my boyfriend finds it funny.
- 27:52Speaker 4: He's an otherwise really great guy and I love him,
- 27:54Speaker 4: but he can't see my point of view as to
- 27:57Speaker 4: why I think it's so offensive. And I didn't get
- 28:00Speaker 4: the chance to say it on the DM disaster, but I,
- 28:03Speaker 4: I'm like, that to me is kind of. the ticking
- 28:06Speaker 4: point in your relationship is it's not that he found
- 28:08Speaker 4: it funny, but like when you said, Hey, this is
- 28:09Speaker 4: actually really hurtful. He goes, well, you should just find
- 28:11Speaker 4: it funny.
- 28:11Speaker 3: That's the part.
- 28:12Speaker 4: Cause anything else, like if I told you, you hurt
- 28:14Speaker 4: my feelings and you go, well, you shouldn't feel that way.
- 28:16Speaker 1: You would be like, okay, that's.
- 28:18Speaker 3: Not a good response. What the hell?
- 28:21Speaker 4: Um, and the point that I feel really strongly about,
- 28:24Speaker 4: and I don't know if this is going to land
- 28:25Speaker 4: because I understand there's varying degrees of severity for certain
- 28:29Speaker 4: derogatory words. I understand that, but like, I don't understand
- 28:33Speaker 4: why women can't be respected when we say this is
- 28:36Speaker 4: a term that's degrading to us or it has been
- 28:38Speaker 4: used to degrade us in the past.
- 28:40Speaker 1: Correct.
- 28:40Speaker 4: Anytime we have said that about other derogatory terms in
- 28:43Speaker 4: the past to describe other groups of people, we go,
- 28:46Speaker 4: oh yeah, that's like a cancelable offense now.
- 28:48Speaker 1: So like, don't say that.
- 28:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:49Speaker 3: So like we're done with that.
- 28:50Speaker 2: Yes.
- 28:51Speaker 3: We're going to have a better way of going about it.
- 28:52Speaker 1: But because women, not a better way, just like, you know,
- 28:55Speaker 1: there are certain words you don't.
- 28:56Speaker 4: Use to describe people because it's offensive. And when women
- 29:00Speaker 4: say it, it's just kind of like, well, you're being emotional.
- 29:03Speaker 4: You know, just like when we had the whole discussion
- 29:06Speaker 4: when I first got on this podcast about being called
- 29:07Speaker 4: that bitch, like I'm just supposed to find that funny.
- 29:10Speaker 1: And am I fine with it now? Yes, because we've
- 29:12Speaker 1: talked it out.
- 29:12Speaker 4: It's like it's fine, you know, but being called a
- 29:16Speaker 4: bitch and a whore is derogatory towards women.
- 29:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:20Speaker 3: I mean, it's exactly what it comes down to.
- 29:22Speaker 2: And the lack of trying to understand or see instead
- 29:25Speaker 2: of just like, no, it's just a joke.
- 29:26Speaker 3: Understand that. That's that's the problem. Yeah.
- 29:29Speaker 4: And I can't believe that I have to get on
- 29:30Speaker 4: here and explain that. That's the crazy thing about the Internet. Like,
- 29:33Speaker 4: for example, I'll give you another video that I posted yesterday.
- 29:36Speaker 4: I posted the mugshot thing where I was like, I
- 29:38Speaker 4: think these guys are hot. Should I ignore their charges?
- 29:40Speaker 4: And of course the punchline is no, like you don't
- 29:42Speaker 4: ignore their charges just because someone's hot.
- 29:44Speaker 1: Like that's, but it's funny because.
- 29:46Speaker 4: The, the humor in it shane gillis is that there's
- 29:50Speaker 4: there's a hint of raw uncomfortable truth in it that
- 29:53Speaker 4: like i saw a mugshot of someone who might be
- 29:55Speaker 4: convicted of like a heinous crime and i'm like.
- 29:57Speaker 3: Well yeah it's something everyone has thought.
- 30:00Speaker 4: That's the uncomfortable and raw truth and i was nervous
- 30:03Speaker 4: posting that because i didn't want people to think that
- 30:05Speaker 4: i would be complicit in their whatever their crime was
- 30:07Speaker 4: like if it was a domestic violence thing or whatever
- 30:10Speaker 4: and one of the ones that i'm like okay i
- 30:11Speaker 4: definitely don't want to mess around here was duis yeah
- 30:14Speaker 4: And immediately when I saw that they had DUIs, I
- 30:17Speaker 4: was like, oh, no, immediately no. Because I didn't want
- 30:19Speaker 4: to minimize that. Not that I think that I needed
- 30:21Speaker 4: to not minimize the other ones.
- 30:22Speaker 1: Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Disclaimer there.
- 30:24Speaker 4: Yeah. But I was just kind of like, yeah, that's
- 30:26Speaker 4: not really what I want to mess around with because
- 30:27Speaker 4: I don't know how to justify that.
- 30:29Speaker 1: And then there's comments of people being like, you know,
- 30:31Speaker 1: a lot of normal people get DUIs.
- 30:32Speaker 4: And I'm like, I can't believe I have to sit
- 30:34Speaker 4: here and argue with you about whether or not I
- 30:36Speaker 4: should be complicit in someone getting a DUI.
- 30:39Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 30:39Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 30:40Speaker 4: Like, if I dated a guy and I found out
- 30:43Speaker 4: he had a DUI, okay, that's like a conversation for
- 30:46Speaker 4: another day.
- 30:46Speaker 3: It's a private conversation, but on a post on Instagram,
- 30:48Speaker 3: it's like, imagine if you.
- 30:50Speaker 1: What am I supposed to be like?
- 30:51Speaker 4: Yeah, he could have totally killed someone with drunk driving,
- 30:53Speaker 4: but whatever.
- 30:54Speaker 3: You're right.
- 30:55Speaker 2: A lot of normal people do it. I didn't watch
- 30:58Speaker 2: all the video, but I saw it pop off.
- 31:00Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 31:00Speaker 1: It popped off like crazy on TikTok.
- 31:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I saw.
- 31:03Speaker 1: What were some of.
- 31:05Speaker 3: The ones, though, that you're like, I can look past?
- 31:07Speaker 1: I mean, not all of them. I think there was
- 31:10Speaker 1: one that I posted.
- 31:11Speaker 3: Just for fun.
- 31:12Speaker 4: There was one, he was like, possession of cocaine. And
- 31:14Speaker 4: I was like, well, I mean... I've been in a
- 31:17Speaker 4: room with cocaine. Like, does that, like, you know.
- 31:20Speaker 3: That's funny.
- 31:21Speaker 2: So.
- 31:21Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 31:22Speaker 4: Okay.
- 31:22Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 31:23Speaker 2: Okay.
- 31:23Speaker 3: I like that. But that's the difference.
- 31:25Speaker 2: It's like you're calling out something that we've all thought,
- 31:27Speaker 2: but you're like finding the humor in it.
- 31:28Speaker 1: Yes.
- 31:29Speaker 4: I was so relieved when I saw the women in
- 31:31Speaker 4: the comments being like, girl, we need to have like
- 31:32Speaker 4: a wine night.
- 31:33Speaker 1: This is so funny. And I was like, thank you.
- 31:35Speaker 1: That's the goal. And that's what I love when people
- 31:37Speaker 1: say it's a joke. Take it.
- 31:39Speaker 4: Like, that's the video kind of video I'm talking about. Like,
- 31:42Speaker 4: it is politically incorrect to be like, let's look.
- 31:44Speaker 1: Past their crimes. But it's satire.
- 31:47Speaker 3: It's satire, y'all.
- 31:48Speaker 1: That's, Shane Gillis, that is satire. Not women are whores. Anyway,
- 31:51Speaker 1: I'm going to get off my soapbox.
- 31:52Speaker 3: There you go. Well, I thought it was a very
- 31:53Speaker 3: interesting thing. That's cool. When do you have to have
- 31:55Speaker 3: the HuffPost in by?
- 31:57Speaker 1: Today.
- 31:57Speaker 4: I think I want to talk to Jenna about it.
- 31:58Speaker 4: I want to make sure that she's cool, which I
- 32:00Speaker 4: know she's going to be. But I would like for
- 32:02Speaker 4: somebody else to read my answers. Oh, yeah.
- 32:04Speaker 1: Just so I'm not submitting it in a vacuum.
- 32:07Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 32:08Speaker 3: Have other people's opinions, not mine. Jenna's would be great.
- 32:10Speaker 1: But I have some great lines, you guys.
- 32:12Speaker 3: Like, I'm very.
- 32:14Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to putting it out there to the world.
- 32:16Speaker 3: Add that to the resume.
- 32:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:18Speaker 1: Featured in the Huffington Post.
- 32:19Speaker 3: Hey, they have some good stuff up there. That's really cool.
- 32:22Speaker 3: I like the discussions that are going on.
- 32:23Speaker 2: But I did bring up, okay, so let's backtrack a
- 32:26Speaker 2: second as we got off the soapbox. So how do
- 32:30Speaker 2: we end up, okay, we went from Pig Jig to
- 32:32Speaker 2: Atlanta to the restaurant.
- 32:34Speaker 3: Okay. Back to the restaurant situation with Real Tacos. Yeah.
- 32:38Speaker 2: I just had this as a thought because is Real Tacos,
- 32:41Speaker 2: that would be considered like a chain restaurant.
- 32:43Speaker 1: Yeah, a franchise.
- 32:45Speaker 3: A franchise.
- 32:45Speaker 1: I don't know, chain.
- 32:46Speaker 4: I don't know if those are different things, but like
- 32:48Speaker 4: a franchise. Like there's different locations.
- 32:51Speaker 2: So let's just do like a big umbrella really quick
- 32:53Speaker 2: of chain or franchise restaurants that you're willing to die
- 32:57Speaker 2: on the hill for. The ones that you actually think
- 33:00Speaker 2: are worth it. No matter how many franchises they open,
- 33:03Speaker 2: how much of a chain it is, you still, you
- 33:06Speaker 2: can't look past that chicken dip. You can't look past
- 33:08Speaker 2: their main dish. What are the restaurants that come into
- 33:11Speaker 2: mind for you? Because a lot of times- As soon
- 33:13Speaker 2: as something becomes a chain, people just poo-poo on it.
- 33:16Speaker 3: It's a chain.
- 33:16Speaker 4: Well, because sometimes the quality goes down.
- 33:18Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 33:19Speaker 2: But what keeps the quality in your eyes? Because it sounds.
- 33:22Speaker 3: Like real tacos. You keep the quality. You get a ding.
- 33:25Speaker 3: I can't wait to try you.
- 33:26Speaker 4: Can I say something vulnerable and honest with you?
- 33:30Speaker 3: Of course, yeah.
- 33:32Speaker 1: I can't remember the last time I went to a
- 33:33Speaker 1: chain restaurant.
- 33:33Speaker 2: Really? Yeah.
- 33:36Speaker 4: And I think it's because when I go out to eat,
- 33:38Speaker 4: I like it for it to be an event. Like
- 33:40Speaker 4: I like to get dressed up and go somewhere cool.
- 33:42Speaker 3: No, that makes sense.
- 33:43Speaker 1: Applebee's is typically not on the list.
- 33:47Speaker 3: Even like if it's like a fast food place.
- 33:48Speaker 2: OK, so the one that I want to start going
- 33:51Speaker 2: to more, that is a I'd say it's a chain
- 33:55Speaker 2: chicken salad chicken. Okay.
- 33:56Speaker 3: That one.
- 33:57Speaker 1: Oh, oh, oh. I take that. I mean, like, if
- 33:59Speaker 1: we're going to talk about, like, Chick-fil-A.
- 34:01Speaker 3: Well, yeah. I mean, in that range, okay, Chick-fil-A could count.
- 34:04Speaker 2: But I was also going to bounce this up because
- 34:05Speaker 2: a lot of people, you know, will poo-poo on, like,
- 34:08Speaker 2: an Olive Garden.
- 34:08Speaker 3: Okay. In my opinion. I've actually never had a bad
- 34:11Speaker 3: experience at Olive Garden.
- 34:12Speaker 1: Yeah, because it's just, I mean, it's Italian food.
- 34:14Speaker 3: I know, but, like, here's the thing.
- 34:15Speaker 2: I've gone to Italian restaurants, like, kind of nice ones
- 34:18Speaker 2: in this area, and it just, like, it lacks flavor. Like, truthfully, like, yeah,
- 34:22Speaker 2: the pasta's fine, but I'm like, I could have used
- 34:24Speaker 2: more sauce. You know who wouldn't have lacked sauce?
- 34:28Speaker 1: Olive Garden.
- 34:29Speaker 4: It's funny that you say that, because I feel like
- 34:31Speaker 4: every time I talk to Tampa locals, they always mention
- 34:34Speaker 4: how there's no good Italian food here.
- 34:35Speaker 3: That's crazy. Well, I can't say, because I've never been
- 34:38Speaker 3: to Olivia, so I don't know how good that is,
- 34:40Speaker 3: but it looks good.
- 34:40Speaker 4: In my mind, Olivia's not really an Italian restaurant.
- 34:43Speaker 3: The hell is it?
- 34:44Speaker 4: It's like in a, it's, I don't know, it just
- 34:46Speaker 4: seems like more American food.
- 34:49Speaker 1: Than Italian.
- 34:50Speaker 3: Okay.
- 34:50Speaker 1: Does that make sense?
- 34:51Speaker 4: I mean, it is an Italian restaurant, but when I
- 34:53Speaker 4: think of Olivia, I don't immediately think pasta.
- 34:55Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I think chicken parm, which then I think Italian.
- 34:59Speaker 4: But that's like an Americanized Italian thing.
- 35:01Speaker 3: That's true. It's not like a traditional, like what would
- 35:05Speaker 3: you want if it's traditional Italian?
- 35:06Speaker 1: Like fresh pasta.
- 35:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:08Speaker 1: And so that was my disappointment.
- 35:09Speaker 4: And I, listen, I will die on this hill that
- 35:11Speaker 4: the most overrated restaurant in Tampa is the Michelin rated Roca.
- 35:15Speaker 3: Oh yeah. I've never had their main, actually I've never
- 35:17Speaker 3: even been in, so I can't comment.
- 35:18Speaker 4: The only thing that I think is worth going, and
- 35:21Speaker 4: honestly it is that good that I do think you
- 35:22Speaker 4: should go and try it, is the mozzarella cart.
- 35:25Speaker 3: That sounds awesome.
- 35:26Speaker 4: Go there, I don't know if they have a bar,
- 35:28Speaker 4: but sit at the bar, order the mozzarella and wine.
- 35:31Speaker 1: And that to me would be the perfect girl dinner.
- 35:33Speaker 3: Then you're having a perfect night out. Yes.
- 35:35Speaker 2: If you get an expensive dish, then we're kind of
- 35:37Speaker 2: talking like, I think it's, you think it's the price
- 35:39Speaker 2: versus the taste ratio. Like it just, it doesn't live
- 35:42Speaker 2: up to the price that you're paying.
- 35:43Speaker 4: It's one of the only Michelin rated restaurants. I think
- 35:46Speaker 4: it's got a Michelin star. It's one of the only
- 35:49Speaker 4: places in Tampa with a Michelin star and it's in
- 35:51Speaker 4: an apartment complex and the.
- 35:53Speaker 1: Pasta is bad.
- 35:56Speaker 4: Um, and my entire family agrees with me and my Family, like,
- 35:59Speaker 4: you know, is not as big of a hater as
- 36:00Speaker 4: I am. Like, we went to Roca because my brother
- 36:02Speaker 4: was raving about it. And we did get the mozzarella
- 36:05Speaker 4: cart at his behest.
- 36:06Speaker 1: It was great.
- 36:07Speaker 4: But then we ordered every pasta on the menu. I
- 36:09Speaker 4: couldn't name you a single one that I enjoyed. Damn.
- 36:12Speaker 3: Was it just, like, it was just lacking flavor?
- 36:14Speaker 4: The flavor was bad. Like, it was either too spicy.
- 36:17Speaker 4: And listen, I'm not, like, against spicy food. But, like,
- 36:19Speaker 4: it's got to be good. And if something's overwhelmingly spicy,
- 36:22Speaker 4: I'm like, oh, now I can't even eat it. I
- 36:24Speaker 4: ordered a lemon crab pasta and it was way too
- 36:27Speaker 4: acidic that I'm like, this literally tastes like I threw
- 36:29Speaker 4: it up and then like I'm eating it.
- 36:30Speaker 1: Like that's how acidic it was.
- 36:31Speaker 4: Wow.
- 36:32Speaker 3: And it couldn't have been like just an off day
- 36:33Speaker 3: for them? I mean, I don't think so.
- 36:35Speaker 4: I mean, all the dishes were so bad that I'm like,
- 36:37Speaker 4: I don't, I will say the desserts were really good.
- 36:39Speaker 1: Okay.
- 36:40Speaker 3: One point.
- 36:40Speaker 1: I would go, go to Roca and have girl dinner,
- 36:42Speaker 1: but I would never order a pasta from them.
- 36:44Speaker 2: The one I've, people are talking bad Italian. I mean,
- 36:47Speaker 2: I've had the best places I've talked about Savion Wine Locker.
- 36:50Speaker 2: I think they have great pasta and it's all fresh.
- 36:53Speaker 2: Or what's the other one?
- 36:54Speaker 3: Bella Brava. Bella Bravo.
- 36:57Speaker 2: But back to the chain restaurants that are like, oh,
- 36:59Speaker 2: that's actually worth it. Because we were looking yesterday. Where
- 37:02Speaker 2: did we go?
- 37:03Speaker 3: We saw like a Longhorn Steakhouse.
- 37:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 37:05Speaker 3: And I thought to myself. Honestly, I could probably throw
- 37:08Speaker 3: down some Longhorn.
- 37:09Speaker 4: I think Logan's Roadhouse. I used to really like growing up.
- 37:12Speaker 3: That sounds like it. I know not Logan's Roadhouse. I
- 37:14Speaker 3: know Texas Roadhouse. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 37:17Speaker 1: I'm sure that one's good too.
- 37:18Speaker 4: Any place, honestly, if a chain restaurant has good bread,
- 37:21Speaker 4: I'm willing to go.
- 37:22Speaker 1: Like Outback.
- 37:23Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 37:24Speaker 4: I haven't been to Outback in a minute. But if
- 37:26Speaker 4: anybody asked me to go to Outback, I'd be.
- 37:28Speaker 3: Like, hell yeah. Yeah, like it lives up to it.
- 37:29Speaker 3: What are the ones that you think are like, uh-uh?
- 37:32Speaker 3: Absolutely not. Well, I just don't... You don't even like
- 37:34Speaker 3: going to him in general.
- 37:35Speaker 4: I don't really like going to him in general, so
- 37:36Speaker 4: I'm not going to be like... I mean, they're all
- 37:38Speaker 4: kind of like, meh. I would go get a Chili's,
- 37:41Speaker 4: but I think people get more hyped about Chili's than
- 37:43Speaker 4: I think it deserves.
- 37:44Speaker 3: Chili's is having like a resurgence moment.
- 37:46Speaker 1: It really is.
- 37:47Speaker 3: Because of that dessert.
- 37:47Speaker 2: What's the one where you take the spoon and you
- 37:49Speaker 2: smack that little ball of chocolate?
- 37:52Speaker 3: Have you seen that video?
- 37:53Speaker 1: Yeah, no.
- 37:53Speaker 3: You know what I'm talking about. I don't want to
- 37:55Speaker 3: sound crazy here.
- 37:55Speaker 1: I know what you're talking about. And the triple dipper.
- 37:57Speaker 1: I would like to try a triple dipper.
- 37:59Speaker 2: See, I had the triple dipper, okay, maybe a couple
- 38:01Speaker 2: months ago. And I saw all the rave about it again.
- 38:04Speaker 2: I remember it as a kid.
- 38:06Speaker 3: And it just, I don't know. It just, nah. You feel,
- 38:08Speaker 3: you feel, eh, afterwards.
- 38:10Speaker 4: I know.
- 38:10Speaker 1: You can't have too much of it.
- 38:11Speaker 2: That's the problem where I'm like, yeah, it sounds fun.
- 38:13Speaker 2: It sounds like a good time. Watch a game, have
- 38:15Speaker 2: all that.
- 38:15Speaker 3: And then you're like, ooh.
- 38:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't like to feel icky.
- 38:18Speaker 2: You know what lived up to its hype the other day?
- 38:20Speaker 2: We're watching football and we got wing, what is it?
- 38:22Speaker 2: Wing stop? I think wing stop or wing house.
- 38:25Speaker 4: One of those.
- 38:26Speaker 3: And it was fantastic.
- 38:27Speaker 4: Really?
- 38:28Speaker 2: Yeah, because usually I drive by that place and I'm like,
- 38:31Speaker 2: that looks like it's going to, I don't know, it's
- 38:33Speaker 2: going to upset my stomach.
- 38:34Speaker 1: Do you want to hear something surprising about Wingstop?
- 38:36Speaker 4: What?
- 38:36Speaker 1: They have them in London. Oh, really?
- 38:38Speaker 4: I remember I was out with a guy. I don't
- 38:40Speaker 4: know if I can say I was dating him.
- 38:41Speaker 1: I wasn't dating him. I was going on dates with him.
- 38:43Speaker 4: Yes. And he was like, are you hungry? Do you
- 38:45Speaker 4: want to get something to eat? And he pulls out
- 38:47Speaker 4: a coupon for Wingstop.
- 38:49Speaker 3: You fuck.
- 38:50Speaker 1: And I'm like, I'm in one of the biggest foodie
- 38:53Speaker 1: cities in the country. How about going to Wingstop?
- 38:55Speaker 3: So you told him no?
- 38:56Speaker 1: I was like, no.
- 38:58Speaker 3: It was pretty good.
- 38:58Speaker 1: He did give me french fries, though.
- 38:59Speaker 3: There you go.
- 39:00Speaker 1: He was nice until he wasn't.
- 39:01Speaker 3: Counts.
- 39:02Speaker 2: I thought that was a place I was like, you
- 39:03Speaker 2: know what? That's a chain that I'll go back to again.
- 39:05Speaker 1: Wingstop?
- 39:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 39:06Speaker 2: I was like, they impressed me with how good their
- 39:09Speaker 2: wings were.
- 39:10Speaker 1: Can I bring up a question I don't know the
- 39:11Speaker 1: answer to?
- 39:12Speaker 3: Okay.
- 39:12Speaker 1: About going out to a sports bar, essentially.
- 39:14Speaker 4: Yeah. I have been wanting to go across the street
- 39:18Speaker 4: to my local sports pizza bar and like watch a game.
- 39:23Speaker 4: But the thing is, I'm not in the mood to
- 39:25Speaker 4: drink and I don't want to eat their food.
- 39:27Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, that's good.
- 39:27Speaker 1: What do I do?
- 39:28Speaker 3: You don't go. You got to get one drink at least.
- 39:31Speaker 1: That's the problem is I'm like, I don't want to
- 39:33Speaker 1: drink alcohol.
- 39:34Speaker 4: I'm like, I would go there and order a Diet Coke,
- 39:37Speaker 4: but I don't want to like sit there and order
- 39:39Speaker 4: a Diet Coke and take up.
- 39:39Speaker 1: A bar stool.
- 39:40Speaker 3: I wonder how that hits for bartenders.
- 39:42Speaker 1: That's what I mean.
- 39:43Speaker 3: Because if you're just getting a Diet Coke, that's like $ 2.
- 39:45Speaker 3: You got to be.
- 39:48Speaker 4: I guess I could just go up to the bar,
- 39:50Speaker 4: sit there, slide them a 10 and go, I just
- 39:52Speaker 4: want unlimited Diet Coke.
- 39:53Speaker 1: Can I sit here? And then just... 100%. I think
- 39:56Speaker 1: that'd be fine. You know what? That's really what I
- 39:58Speaker 1: should do.
- 39:58Speaker 3: Yeah, because this way you still want the environment. Like,
- 40:00Speaker 3: and I'm, you know.
- 40:02Speaker 2: If you're going through a phase of, like, even, like,
- 40:04Speaker 2: not wanting to drink, like, you shouldn't be punished for that.
- 40:06Speaker 4: That's what I mean is I would like to go
- 40:08Speaker 4: there and enjoy a beverage, but I feel bad.
- 40:11Speaker 1: Isn't that horrible?
- 40:11Speaker 4: I feel bad sitting there at a barstool just ordering
- 40:14Speaker 4: Diet Coke.
- 40:15Speaker 3: Because you're just taking their space. I know.
- 40:17Speaker 2: You're using your space for all the other things. I know.
- 40:19Speaker 3: Unless you go with somebody. Like, I would get a
- 40:21Speaker 3: Diet Coke and, like, a little app. Just something to.
- 40:24Speaker 4: Yeah, but I'm like, I don't want to spend money
- 40:26Speaker 4: on food.
- 40:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I think if you go, you slide, like you said.
- 40:29Speaker 2: Give them a little money up front.
- 40:31Speaker 3: Yeah. Or else they're going to just be so annoyed.
- 40:33Speaker 4: I know.
- 40:33Speaker 3: As you're just sitting there taking their space. Like, I
- 40:35Speaker 3: could be making money and you're here.
- 40:37Speaker 4: Here's 10 bucks. Can I please just sit here with
- 40:39Speaker 4: other people and watch the game?
- 40:40Speaker 3: That's what I've always wondered, too.
- 40:41Speaker 2: Like, when I go out with friends and I've done this,
- 40:43Speaker 2: I have a group of friends that every now and
- 40:46Speaker 2: then when we all get together, we could sit at
- 40:47Speaker 2: a restaurant for two, three hours. And I always feel
- 40:49Speaker 2: guilty because I'm like, yes, we're engaging in great conversation and.
- 40:54Speaker 3: I know our servers are mad.
- 40:55Speaker 1: I know.
- 40:55Speaker 2: And I almost wish I could tell them, like, I'll
- 40:57Speaker 2: tip you double. Like, I'll take this as a, you know,
- 41:00Speaker 2: I know you're not getting a new table.
- 41:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 41:02Speaker 2: So that's lost money in your pocket. But that's also
- 41:04Speaker 2: the reason, like, I hate that system that we have here. Because.
- 41:08Speaker 2: When you do get those meetings together with friends, well,
- 41:10Speaker 2: you got to rush it because they got to flip
- 41:12Speaker 2: a table because you're not paying your staff enough. Now
- 41:15Speaker 2: they're annoyed with you, but it's not actually your problem.
- 41:17Speaker 2: It's the restaurant and the industry's problem.
- 41:19Speaker 4: I know.
- 41:19Speaker 1: It's fucked up.
- 41:20Speaker 3: Because I'm like, you know, you go out. I remember
- 41:21Speaker 3: the first time going out in Spain.
- 41:22Speaker 2: They're like, they don't even see you for the first
- 41:24Speaker 2: 30 minutes.
- 41:25Speaker 3: You're just having a cocktail.
- 41:26Speaker 1: You're begging them. You're like, hey, can I please, please,
- 41:28Speaker 1: please put in my order? And they're like, what?
- 41:31Speaker 3: You want to order right now?
- 41:31Speaker 4: It's an inconvenience for them to do their job because
- 41:33Speaker 4: they're like, well, I'm getting paid. I'm here.
- 41:34Speaker 1: I'm getting paid.
- 41:35Speaker 2: Yeah, they walk by and it's three hours later. You
- 41:37Speaker 2: finally pay the bill and you can get their attention.
- 41:39Speaker 2: But here, you've got to make sure that you're in
- 41:42Speaker 2: and out so the rest of the staff can get something,
- 41:45Speaker 2: get more people in. I just always hated that system,
- 41:48Speaker 2: but it's one of those things. I think if you
- 41:49Speaker 2: handle it up front, you're not as big of an a-hole.
- 41:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 41:52Speaker 2: Then you're kind of set up. So, just curious on
- 41:54Speaker 2: the restaurant thing. But back to Pig Jig. So, yeah,
- 41:57Speaker 2: back to Pig Jig this weekend. I think, I don't
- 41:59Speaker 2: know what you're doing this weekend, but you should go out.
- 42:01Speaker 2: It's going to be a good time over in downtown Tampa.
- 42:03Speaker 4: I'm busy literally all weekend, except for Friday. But I
- 42:07Speaker 4: don't want to do anything Friday because I'm busy all weekend.
- 42:09Speaker 2: Okay, that's how we are, too. We're going out all week,
- 42:12Speaker 2: and then on the weekend, I just want a day
- 42:14Speaker 2: of just chill.
- 42:15Speaker 4: Yeah, you're going to have one day where you're not
- 42:16Speaker 4: doing much. So, Sunday, we're at the Bucks game, and
- 42:19Speaker 4: then I'm doing, I'm literally waking up bopping around with
- 42:24Speaker 4: friends on a walk, and then I should have tickets
- 42:26Speaker 4: for the Lightning game, and then I'm going to the
- 42:27Speaker 4: Rowdies game afterwards.
- 42:28Speaker 3: You're going to the Rowdies game?
- 42:30Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I'm supposed to interview some of their players
- 42:32Speaker 1: for being on Bayshore.
- 42:33Speaker 3: That's cool. I know. Who set that up?
- 42:35Speaker 1: It's a good trade. I don't know if he's, like,
- 42:37Speaker 1: the owner or the manager. Do you know him, Jeff Atanella?
- 42:40Speaker 1: I don't know if he's, like, a coach or something.
- 42:41Speaker 4: I think so.
- 42:41Speaker 3: I probably got to meet him at one of the games.
- 42:43Speaker 1: He messaged me. He's like, I have a bunch of
- 42:45Speaker 1: guys that would love to get interviewed.
- 42:46Speaker 3: They do?
- 42:47Speaker 1: No, he's like, I don't know if they'd love to
- 42:48Speaker 1: get interviewed, but they'll be interviewed.
- 42:50Speaker 4: Um, and I was like, perfect. I have a platform
- 42:53Speaker 4: where I talk about sports casually.
- 42:55Speaker 3: That's so cool.
- 42:56Speaker 4: Okay.
- 42:56Speaker 3: Well, that is a busy weekend. We'll enjoy that.
- 42:59Speaker 2: And anytime you're listening to the podcast, you can always
- 43:01Speaker 2: leave a comment, be a part of the conversation or
- 43:04Speaker 2: get up on the YouTube and share it.
- 43:05Speaker 3: Like find somebody new, send them the episode. I want
- 43:08Speaker 3: to see some new folks.
- 43:09Speaker 2: And one of the things that we're still pushing is
- 43:12Speaker 2: getting the live show in Atlanta.
- 43:13Speaker 3: So we're going to keep hitting that.
- 43:14Speaker 1: Let's tweet at real tacos.
- 43:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 43:17Speaker 3: I was thinking that as I saw the video and
- 43:19Speaker 3: you said ATL had one.
- 43:20Speaker 1: Because I think they have a stage.
- 43:22Speaker 3: No, we don't need a stage. Give us two stools.
- 43:24Speaker 3: Sit around. Well, I guess if there's 100 people.
- 43:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 43:27Speaker 1: Although I guess that would make sense.
- 43:28Speaker 4: Like if everyone comes and has lunch at Real Tacos
- 43:30Speaker 4: and they come because maybe they won't charge us.
- 43:32Speaker 3: There you go. Set up the business deal.
- 43:34Speaker 2: But leave that in the comments on Spotify so we
- 43:36Speaker 2: can continue to see who would be interested in actually
- 43:38Speaker 2: making that happen.
- 43:39Speaker 3: Thanks for being part of it. We'll be back tomorrow.
