- 0:11Hello friends, it's Sean here. And it's a Friday, so it's
- 0:15Yvonne, too. Hey, welcome to the microphone.
- 0:17What do you think about this whole working from home
- 0:19business? I've been loving having you
- 0:22around more often, it's lovely, but then I do feel guilty when I
- 0:26may not be working quite as hard as you.
- 0:28Seriously lonely though, just sitting in a room by yourself
- 0:31without colleagues and people to bounce ideas off.
- 0:34So here he is, very chatty, ready for this Bible reading
- 0:38you. Betcha, you betcha.
- 0:39Let's read. Let's talk.
- 0:41All right, let's focus. We are focusing on the next
- 0:45chunk of proverbs from our trusty ancient king, King
- 0:50Solomon, whose name I almost forgot, packaged up and
- 0:53delivered to you and to me so that we can be wiser people
- 0:58living in the world today. So without further ado, you
- 1:01ready? Yes, I'm ready.
- 1:03Excellent. Let us read together Proverbs 28
- 1:07to 14. When a king sits in judgement,
- 1:20he weighs all the evidence distinguishing the bad from the
- 1:24good. Who can say I have cleansed my
- 1:30heart? I am pure and free from sin.
- 1:34False weights and unequal measures.
- 1:38The Lord detest double standards of every kind.
- 1:44Even children are known by the way they act, whether their
- 1:47conduct is pure and whether it is right.
- 1:53Ears to hear and eyes to see, both are gifts from the Lord.
- 2:00If you love sleep, you will end in poverty.
- 2:04Keep your eyes open and there will be plenty to eat.
- 2:09The buyer haggles over the price, saying it's worthless,
- 2:14then brags about getting a bargain.
- 2:19And again, when a king sits in judgement, he weighs all the
- 2:24evidence distinguishing the bad from the good.
- 2:29Who can say I have cleansed my heart?
- 2:32I am pure and free from sin. False weights and unequal
- 2:38measures. The Lord detests double
- 2:40standards of every kind. Even children are known by the
- 2:45way they act, whether their conduct is pure and whether it
- 2:48is right. Ears to hear and eyes to see,
- 2:54both the gifts from the Lord. If you love sleep, you will end
- 3:00in poverty. Keep your eyes open and there
- 3:03will be plenty to eat. The buyer haggles over the
- 3:08price, saying it's worthless, then brags about getting a
- 3:12bargain. You are the Queen of Bargains.
- 3:24I. Do.
- 3:26Like to do bargains, but things are.
- 3:27Worthless. No, that is true and actually
- 3:30I'm a terrible person to take if you need to haggle over the
- 3:33price because I. Sean, this is great.
- 3:37I love this one so much. Can we please?
- 3:38Get yes. The second proverb strikes me
- 3:43when it says that no one, no one who can possibly say that
- 3:48they're pure and free from sin, that no matter how hard we try,
- 3:51how good we think we are, we are all sinful and impure.
- 3:55Yeah. You're right, we certainly fail
- 3:59in that department that I liked in verse 8 when it spoke about
- 4:02the king. When a king sits in judgement,
- 4:05he weighs all the evidence distinguishing the bad from the
- 4:08good, and we can just trust in our Heavenly Father to be a fair
- 4:13judge when he is looking at us. And even erring on the side of
- 4:18grace, which boy? Absolutely much needed.
- 4:21Much needed. Oh Lord, thank you that you are
- 4:25a God of grace and that you do sit on that throne of judgement
- 4:29and you see us impure, imperfect people, but you see us as your
- 4:38people, as your beloved children, and you just love us
- 4:43with that decadent love of the Father.
- 4:46And you throw your arms around us and you draw us to yourself.
- 4:51And that is all possible because of your gift of Jesus, who has
- 4:55made a way for us to be right with you.
- 4:58So we thank you for Jesus. We thank you for your grace
- 5:02through him and through all of your actions and through who you
- 5:05are. We are so grateful for it and so
- 5:08dependent on it every day. And so we pray all of this in
- 5:14the name of that wonderful saving son of yours, Jesus.
- 5:18Amen. Amen.
