- 0:12and I'm your host, Randy Black. And this is the show
- 0:15where I take time to share
- 0:17my own personal honest reflections,
- 0:20stories,
- 0:21and thoughts about various topics like faith,
- 0:24life,
- 0:24and the world around us in general.
- 0:27And today, this is part 16
- 0:29of my napod promo twenty twenty five series. Napod promo, national podcast post month, where the goal is to post 30 episodes
- 0:39in thirty days.
- 0:41And in this one, I wanna talk about something that stirred my heart a while back to the point that I even wrote a blog post about it,
- 0:50and I'll put a link to that in the show notes. And that's the decline of Christianity
- 0:55and the downfall
- 0:56of America.
- 1:00America was once a nation
- 1:02unmistakably
- 1:03founded on biblical principles.
- 1:06Our our earliest leaders, as as imperfect
- 1:09though as they were,
- 1:11recognized
- 1:12the importance of faith in shaping the moral framework of the country.
- 1:16From the declaration of independence
- 1:18to the laws that govern daily life,
- 1:21the acknowledgment of God's authority was woven deeply into the fabric of our society.
- 1:28But somewhere along the way,
- 1:30that foundation began to crack.
- 1:33Over time, the reverence
- 1:35for Scripture and the reliance upon God that once defined this nation,
- 1:41it just gradually eroded.
- 1:44We've moved from being people guided by his word
- 1:48to a culture that
- 1:50increasingly dismisses
- 1:51or
- 1:53even flat out rejects it.
- 1:56And as as the influence of Christianity
- 1:59wanes, the values
- 2:01that once held our society together,
- 2:04you know, honesty,
- 2:05compassion,
- 2:07integrity,
- 2:08personal responsibility.
- 2:10They're slowly being replaced by things like
- 2:14self interest,
- 2:15moral confusion,
- 2:18and perhaps the biggest one, the vision.
- 2:22Psalm thirty three twelve reminds us, blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
- 2:27the people he has chosen for his own inheritance.
- 2:32When that blessing is ignored or forgotten,
- 2:35we shouldn't be surprised
- 2:37when the fruit of that neglect shows up in every area of our culture.
- 2:45We've seen a huge cultural shift.
- 2:47Church attendance is in decline.
- 2:50Fewer people identify as believers.
- 2:53And for many, the idea of
- 2:55absolute truth
- 2:57has been replaced by the mantra of what's true for me
- 3:01might not be true for you,
- 3:04and this shift didn't happen overnight.
- 3:07It's been decades in the making,
- 3:10a slow drift that's left many people spiritually adrift
- 3:14and morally uncertain.
- 3:16We've traded
- 3:18the pursuit of holiness
- 3:20for the pursuit of comfort.
- 3:23We've replaced,
- 3:25prayer
- 3:26with politics
- 3:27and conviction
- 3:29with convenience.
- 3:32Romans chapter one verse 21 puts it plainly,
- 3:35for even though they knew God,
- 3:38they did not honor him as God or give thanks,
- 3:41but they became futile in their reasonings,
- 3:44and their senseless hearts
- 3:46were darkened.
- 3:49That verse feels like an ancient warning
- 3:53that's now become a headline
- 3:55for modern America.
- 4:00When a society turns its back on God,
- 4:03there are consequences,
- 4:04not just spiritually,
- 4:06but culturally,
- 4:07politically,
- 4:08and morally.
- 4:10We see rising conflict, growing polarization,
- 4:14and a loss of share of a shared moral compass among our people.
- 4:18When truth becomes relative,
- 4:20justice
- 4:21becomes negotiable.
- 4:24When we no longer look to God for direction,
- 4:27we start looking inward to our own desires,
- 4:31and that path only leads to emptiness.
- 4:34In Proverbs fourteen thirty four, Scripture says, righteousness exalts a nation,
- 4:39but sin is a disgrace
- 4:42to any people.
- 4:44That's not just a poetic statement.
- 4:47That's a reality check.
- 4:49A nation cannot stand strong if its moral core is hollow.
- 4:54No policy,
- 4:55no program,
- 4:57no technology can substitute for righteousness.
- 5:00And make no mistake. The downfall of America won't come from foreign enemies or economic collapse alone.
- 5:07It comes from within,
- 5:09from a spiritual decay that spreads when we no longer see faith as being essential
- 5:15to our daily lives.
- 5:18So what do we do then with this truth?
- 5:22Well, we return.
- 5:25We return to the foundation that once made this a great nation, not in terms of power or in wealth,
- 5:31but in moral clarity and a dependence on God.
- 5:35Revival doesn't begin in government buildings or courtrooms.
- 5:38It begins in hearts,
- 5:40one life at a time when individuals choose to place God back at the center of everything.
- 5:48Second Chronicles
- 5:49chapter seven verse 14 says,
- 5:51and my people who are called by my name humble themselves
- 5:55and pray and seek my face
- 5:57and turn from their wicked ways,
- 6:00then I will hear
- 6:02from heaven,
- 6:03and I will forgive their sin
- 6:06and will heal their land.
- 6:09That promise still stands.
- 6:11It's not outdated.
- 6:13It's not conditional on political climate.
- 6:16It's God's timeless invitation
- 6:18to renewal.
- 6:21As believers, we have a responsibility to live our faith publicly,
- 6:25compassionately,
- 6:26and consistently,
- 6:27to stand for truth
- 6:29even when it is unpopular,
- 6:32to love even when it is inconvenient,
- 6:36and to shine light into a culture that desperately needs hope.
- 6:44The decline of Christianity in America isn't irreversible,
- 6:47but it requires courage, a willingness to confront cultural drift,
- 6:52and lead by example.
- 6:54Parents teaching children what the word of God actually says,
- 6:58churches emphasizing
- 7:00discipleship
- 7:00over entertainment,
- 7:02Christians using every platform from classrooms to podcasts to share truth with grace.
- 7:10Faith was never meant to be a private hobby.
- 7:13It was meant to be a guiding force of who we are.
- 7:16And if we wanna see America healed,
- 7:19we must once again become a people who seek God first.
- 7:25As I close today,
- 7:27I wanna leave you with this thought.
- 7:29America's greatest threat isn't external.
- 7:32It's spiritual.
- 7:34And the solution isn't political.
- 7:37It's personal.
- 7:39If each of us recommits to walking with God daily, loving others sincerely,
- 7:44and standing firm in truth,
- 7:47then there's hope.
- 7:49Hope for our homes,
- 7:50for our communities,
- 7:52and, yes,
- 7:53even for our nation.
