- 1:35Sean McAllister: Let's spin that wheel.
- 1:46Dayna Roselli: Welcome to Vegas Revealed, episode 141.
- 1:49Dayna Roselli: Dana Roselli here with Sean McAllister.
- 1:52Dayna Roselli: Sean, we're recording this a little bit early because I'm heading out of the country for the first time since the pandemic.
- 1:59Dayna Roselli: I I've been to London many, many times through the years, but I haven't gone in a while.
- 2:04Dayna Roselli: And I don't want to say I'm not looking forward to it, but I haven't done the like out of the country passport, all that, you know, airline situation yet.
- 2:14Dayna Roselli: So I'm getting ready to do that.
- 2:16Dayna Roselli: So we're recording this a little bit early.
- 2:18Sean McAllister: Well, I was gonna ask you, are you excited for this travel experience?
- 2:23Sean McAllister: Or is it something that that you're that's kind of been weighing on you a little bit?
- 2:27Dayna Roselli: Well, I think, you know, traveling overseas is always a little stressful.
- 2:31Dayna Roselli: The one thing that eases my mind is I was able to find two nonstop flights.
- 2:36Sean McAllister: Oh, good.
- 2:37Dayna Roselli: Now I would have never considered anything else, but when I went to look up airfare this time, I noticed there are not as many nonstop flights as there used to be before the pandemic, that's for sure.
- 2:48Dayna Roselli: So it gets tricky because you're like, do I want to go from here to Dale?
- 2:51Dayna Roselli: And I'm like, no way.
- 2:52Dayna Roselli: That just sounds awful.
- 2:54Dayna Roselli: So I worked for a while to try and find a good price.
- 2:58Dayna Roselli: And finally I did.
- 3:00Dayna Roselli: And I'm taking British Airways nonstop, both ways, which is great.
- 3:05Dayna Roselli: And I got it for a little bit under$1,000.
- 3:08Dayna Roselli: Wow.
- 3:09Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 3:10Dayna Roselli: I added one teeny upgrade in there where you could be able to change your flight if you had to, because we own our own business.
- 3:17Dayna Roselli: So I thought in case any emergency come comes up, I need to switch it.
- 3:20Sean McAllister: I thought you were gonna say I added one tiny upgrade.
- 3:23Sean McAllister: I have a seat that lays flat, my own private bar.
- 3:27Dayna Roselli: Not that.
- 3:28Dayna Roselli: Um yeah, and so it came out to 1,072.
- 3:32Dayna Roselli: Not bad, right?
- 3:32Dayna Roselli: That's great.
- 3:33Dayna Roselli: One bag included and one carry-on, all your meals, and two non-stop flights.
- 3:40Dayna Roselli: Not bad.
- 3:41Dayna Roselli: Not bad at all.
- 3:42Dayna Roselli: So midweek to midweek was the sweet spot.
- 3:44Dayna Roselli: FYI.
- 3:45Dayna Roselli: Everything else around that, um, like Virgin Airlines was like in the 3000s.
- 3:50Dayna Roselli: Jeez.
- 3:50Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so it's a huge difference.
- 3:52Dayna Roselli: So FYI on that one.
- 3:55Dayna Roselli: Um, I just wanted to let people know that I've got my air tag on order.
- 3:59Dayna Roselli: I've got a new one coming for my luggage.
- 4:00Dayna Roselli: Because if you didn't hear a previous podcast we did, do not travel without an air tag, people.
- 4:05Dayna Roselli: If you have an iPhone, obviously.
- 4:07Dayna Roselli: Um, because you can throw it in your luggage and that way you know and have peace of mind.
- 4:12Dayna Roselli: Your luggage is with you or it's not with you.
- 4:15Dayna Roselli: Then you won't have peace of mind, but at least you'll know ahead of time to mentally prepare for when you get off the plane.
- 4:20Dayna Roselli: Like, so if I go to look in my phone and look at the air tag, and it doesn't say my luggage is with me, as in like underneath the plane, because it's in close proximity, I'll know it's not on the plane.
- 4:32Dayna Roselli: But at least you can figure out where it is.
- 4:35Dayna Roselli: I put an air tag, I don't even think we updated this with my friend's dog who traveled overseas because I was nervous and I wanted to make sure that he got there.
- 4:44Dayna Roselli: I'm talking it pinpointed exactly where he was at most times, if not the vicinity.
- 4:53Dayna Roselli: It's unreal, but it's such a great thing.
- 4:56Dayna Roselli: And they're like 27 bucks on Amazon.
- 4:59Dayna Roselli: So get an air tag.
- 5:01Dayna Roselli: Also, if anyone has any tips for me traveling back and forth to the UK, please, ideas at Vegas-Revealed.com.
- 5:08Dayna Roselli: If you're like, hey, you get through the customs line quicker doing this or you do that, let me know.
- 5:13Dayna Roselli: I always appreciate that.
- 5:14Dayna Roselli: Other than that, everything surrounding the trip is already all set.
- 5:19Sean McAllister: Well, it's good to have that peace of mind, especially when you're on a long trip like that.
- 5:24Sean McAllister: Um, so good.
- 5:25Sean McAllister: I'm glad that you're all set, ready to hop on the plane.
- 5:28Sean McAllister: Can't wait to hear about the trip when you're back and also hear about the the tips that that people send in for you.
- 5:35Sean McAllister: And maybe you'll come back with even more tips.
- 5:36Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I'm sure I'll have my take on things.
- 5:39Sean McAllister: I have no doubt.
- 5:41Dayna Roselli: That went right and went wrong.
- 5:43Dayna Roselli: Let's hope no nothing goes wrong.
- 5:45Dayna Roselli: But yeah, it should be good.
- 5:46Dayna Roselli: I mean, I've done the the trip many, many times before.
- 5:48Dayna Roselli: So um fingers crossed.
- 5:50Sean McAllister: We look forward to that.
- 5:51Sean McAllister: Something else we're looking forward to is what's being called a new era of Las Vegas entertainment.
- 5:58Sean McAllister: That's kind of the the meat of our Vegas Revealed episode this week.
- 6:03Sean McAllister: And it all stemmed from a conversation that Dana and I had with the producers, the creative team behind the new show Awakening over at Win Las Vegas.
- 6:16Sean McAllister: And you can go back and listen to the episode when we talked about it, but this creative team is like the who's who of entertainment creators, some of whom have been here in Las Vegas for decades and decades.
- 6:32Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and Awakening opens November 7th.
- 6:34Dayna Roselli: So it hasn't actually opened, but um, Sean and I went to a breakfast where we learned all about the show.
- 6:40Dayna Roselli: And this new show is going to be narrated by Anthony Hopkins.
- 6:44Dayna Roselli: It includes dramatic choreography, technology, like creatures, a custom sound system designed to showcase the original music score in this 360-degree theater.
- 6:58Dayna Roselli: So it's huge.
- 6:59Dayna Roselli: And when we were sitting there at this breakfast, uh, one of the people, and I'm not sure if it was the producer or maybe the entertainment executive from the win.
- 7:08Dayna Roselli: Anyway, we were all chatting and we said, you know, this is a new era for entertainment.
- 7:14Dayna Roselli: And we thought, okay, this is the next, you know, what were the previous ones?
- 7:20Dayna Roselli: So then we all started discussing like the five eras of Las Vegas entertainment.
- 7:24Dayna Roselli: And so that's how we came up with, you know what, this would be a good podcast topic because we all kind of agreed on those eras.
- 7:31Sean McAllister: Right.
- 7:32Sean McAllister: And so history has kind of shown that every 15 to 20 years, Las Vegas Entertainment undergoes a pretty seismic shift.
- 7:43Sean McAllister: There's a different feel to the entertainment.
- 7:47Sean McAllister: And this really all started.
- 7:48Sean McAllister: The first era of Las Vegas Entertainment was really during the birth of the casino and the birth of the resort town.
- 7:56Sean McAllister: And that was back in the 50s and 60s, when that there was the lounge era.
- 8:02Sean McAllister: That was when you saw Frank Sinatra and the rat pack.
- 8:06Sean McAllister: That was when Joan Rivers was headlining with her comedy act.
- 8:10Sean McAllister: And it was also the era when different entertainers who were performing at different properties would do popovers and get on stage at their colleagues' show.
- 8:23Sean McAllister: Right.
- 8:24Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 8:24Dayna Roselli: And when you say that, it reminds me when I interviewed Gladys Knight, she was telling me, I mean, that's what we did.
- 8:29Dayna Roselli: Like when you finished your show, you were going, I mean, you would go well in, it'd be like 1 a.m.
- 8:33Dayna Roselli: and you'd pop, you know, up to the golden nugget and and see Sinatra, and and everyone would compare their ticket sales.
- 8:41Dayna Roselli: She said we'd whip out, like, how'd you do tonight?
- 8:43Dayna Roselli: How'd you do tonight?
- 8:44Dayna Roselli: And like they would compare whose show did better.
- 8:46Dayna Roselli: It was kind of like a fun thing that they did.
- 8:48Dayna Roselli: But yeah, or they would go and either sneak in and sit in the back and or go up on stage and actually make an appearance.
- 8:56Dayna Roselli: So it was kind of a basically, I feel like a time that everyone still to this day talks about.
- 9:02Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 9:03Dayna Roselli: Like, wow, that must have been cool.
- 9:04Dayna Roselli: And it it is also something that some shows try to emulate.
- 9:09Dayna Roselli: You know, we've had different shows recently through the last like 10 years, or they say you never know who's gonna show up, and they're trying to be like that era.
- 9:19Sean McAllister: But the difference is that you need to have all of these lounge acts performing in order to do that.
- 9:26Sean McAllister: And the lounge act has kind of gone away.
- 9:28Sean McAllister: We've talked about that in uh past episodes over the past couple years as we've looked at Las Vegas Entertainment.
- 9:36Sean McAllister: So, yeah, that lounge act era of the 50s and 60s was really the launching point for what was to follow.
- 9:46Dayna Roselli: And what was to follow was Elvis Presley.
- 9:49Dayna Roselli: It was a big deal.
- 9:50Dayna Roselli: He was over at the International Hotel, which was then the Hilton, which is now the Westgate.
- 9:54Dayna Roselli: When I was reading about it, Sean, it was interesting because it said at the time, the International Hotel, which is now the Westgate, was the largest hotel casino in the world.
- 10:04Dayna Roselli: Wow.
- 10:05Dayna Roselli: I know, and now it's just like one street off the strip, I live next door to it.
- 10:10Dayna Roselli: It's kind of interesting, right?
- 10:11Dayna Roselli: And then also Siegfried and Roy, and and what made them different is the fact that they were a huge magic spectacle, right?
- 10:19Sean McAllister: Yeah, because we had uh showgirl shows.
- 10:22Sean McAllister: We had Folly's Bergère and Jubilee, those were like the showgirl spectacles, but we hadn't really had an entire spectacle that was set around magicians, and of course they had uh Siegfried and Roy had their big cats that were involved in the show too.
- 10:41Sean McAllister: So in 1987 is when Steve Wynne signed Siegfried and Roy on for their legendary run at the Mirage.
- 10:50Sean McAllister: They originally signed a contract for$57.5 million for five years.
- 10:56Sean McAllister: That was massive money back in the 80s.
- 11:00Sean McAllister: And of course, they had performed in Vegas for you know several years, 15 years before then.
- 11:05Sean McAllister: So they were well known, they were well established and ready to just take off and be the magic headliners in Las Vegas.
- 11:15Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so interesting because now it just all seems so normal to us.
- 11:18Dayna Roselli: We have so many magicians, right?
- 11:20Dayna Roselli: But they really were.
- 11:21Dayna Roselli: And I remember even when I moved here in 2004, I think I came to visit Las Vegas maybe a year before that.
- 11:29Dayna Roselli: And then when I started kind of looking into should I move there?
- 11:32Dayna Roselli: Um, but I think it was like 2003.
- 11:35Dayna Roselli: I just remember it was like, I mean, Siegfried and Roy was it was huge in 2003, even still.
- 11:42Dayna Roselli: So I mean, like they were just like everyone, if you came to Vegas, you had to see Siegfried and Roy.
- 11:47Dayna Roselli: And then obviously, you know, previous to that, over at the International, Elvis was the act to go see.
- 11:53Dayna Roselli: So it's definitely both of those performances were that time period.
- 12:00Sean McAllister: Yeah, and they were big draws.
- 12:03Sean McAllister: Um, the next kind of era that we move into is more of a family-friendly entertainment era in Las Vegas.
- 12:12Sean McAllister: There is that time when the MGM Grand had a theme park, and you would walk in through the lion's mouth and see the Wizard of Oz displays all around.
- 12:24Sean McAllister: And this is when the Mirage Volcano was super popular and the pirate ships in front of Treasure Island.
- 12:31Dayna Roselli: Oh, yeah, I know.
- 12:32Dayna Roselli: Isn't that interesting?
- 12:33Dayna Roselli: And then obviously Circus Circus had been there, but um, and that's also when Mysterio, the show, the first Cirque de Soleil show, started on the strip, and that was over at Treasure Island.
- 12:44Sean McAllister: It was, yeah.
- 12:45Sean McAllister: They custom built the theater just for Myster.
- 12:49Dayna Roselli: It's still there, it's still there.
- 12:51Sean McAllister: They uh we actually found out that they originally built the theater with the intention that the show at some point would leave, and so the theater could be stripped down to the you know, cement bleachers, new seats put in.
- 13:05Sean McAllister: Myster hasn't left.
- 13:06Sean McAllister: Right.
- 13:07Sean McAllister: Still there, still going strong, and also a family-friendly show.
- 13:10Dayna Roselli: Right when you talk about family attractions.
- 13:12Dayna Roselli: I mean, because there are some Cirque du Soleil shows that, you know, are not family-friendly, that are more adult-oriented.
- 13:18Dayna Roselli: More adult-oriented, yeah.
- 13:19Dayna Roselli: And so, yeah, that was that time.
- 13:21Dayna Roselli: And I remember um even after that, I think they tried to do a little bit of a push for more families coming to the strip.
- 13:28Dayna Roselli: That didn't work so well.
- 13:29Dayna Roselli: But this era, it seemed to kind of fit what they were looking for then.
- 13:32Sean McAllister: Yeah, and the the holdover from that era really are the cirque shows that are just so prolific, even today.
- 13:42Dayna Roselli: Then we have Celine Dion.
- 13:44Dayna Roselli: All of a sudden, Caesars decides we're gonna build the Coliseum and we're gonna create this theater just for Celine Dion.
- 13:53Dayna Roselli: And everyone was like, What?
- 13:55Dayna Roselli: And she debuted her show, A New Day, which had more production than some of her shows after that.
- 14:03Dayna Roselli: So she did a bunch of shows after that, but A New Day had dancers and costumes, and this Coliseum was built for Celine Dion.
- 14:12Sean McAllister: It was almost like Celine Dionne was in the middle of a Cirque du Soleil show.
- 14:17Sean McAllister: You know, Franco Dragon, the legendary uh show producer, um put her show together and worked with Celine to create just this incredible, obviously a Celine Dion concert, but with so much more involved.
- 14:36Sean McAllister: And that really ushered in that was the beginning of the new millennium around 2000, and Celine really ushered in a new era of headlining acts in Las Vegas, right?
- 14:52Dayna Roselli: And it was like, wow, Celine's gonna go and and perform and she's gonna stay put.
- 14:56Sean McAllister: Well, and that was a very risky thing at the time.
- 14:59Sean McAllister: Yeah, people thought at the top of her game is Celine Dion, has she lost her marbles for going to do this?
- 15:08Sean McAllister: And uh people were making references since you know she was still riding high off of the Titanic theme song back in the late 90s, and then people were like, ooh, Celine's show at the Coliseum.
- 15:22Sean McAllister: I think that's gonna sink like the Titanic did.
- 15:25Sean McAllister: Well, nope, no, no, no.
- 15:26Sean McAllister: People grossly underestimated Celine Dion's influence and what she could do because Celine is the one who paved the way for Brittany Spears to come here.
- 15:37Sean McAllister: And after Britney, we had Christina Aguilera, we now have you know Usher, we have Katy Perry, Carrie Underwood, Luke, people at the top of the game.
- 15:47Dayna Roselli: Yeah, Gwen Stefani.
- 15:49Sean McAllister: Are still headliners and DJs are rolled into that too.
- 15:52Dayna Roselli: Yeah, the DJ era was kind of mixed in there, maybe just like a little bit later, but there were, you know, actually around that time, just different DJs.
- 16:01Dayna Roselli: And then I feel like we piled on more and more and more DJs over the years through that era, but um still the same concept, same concept, right?
- 16:11Dayna Roselli: Yeah, that became popular.
- 16:12Dayna Roselli: Um it's so interesting, and so that whole time period was just you know evolving in that kind of way, and then obviously people coming here like Celine did, not in their retirement years, not like I'm coming to end my career here and I'm just gonna move and stay put.
- 16:30Dayna Roselli: And no, it's like I'm gonna come and I'm gonna do a residency and I'm gonna be committed, but then also for a couple months I might go tour and then I'll come back and do more shows.
- 16:40Dayna Roselli: And you know, and that's like you said, when you know, a whole slew of other performers at the top of their game decided, well, I can do this too.
- 16:47Dayna Roselli: And hey, I wouldn't mind not traveling all around.
- 16:50Sean McAllister: Yeah, no kidding.
- 16:51Dayna Roselli: Yeah, just hanging out in Las Vegas for a little while.
- 16:54Dayna Roselli: And even people with kids, they bring the kids, they're able to either rent a home or own a home, or you know, if they don't want to live in the hotel.
- 17:00Dayna Roselli: So it's interesting, but yeah, that was definitely the next big era.
- 17:04Dayna Roselli: And then we have now.
- 17:07Dayna Roselli: And Bernie Human, who was sitting at the table with us, uh, manager to Siegfried and Roy, um, creating and and consulting and having his hands in so many of our big shows, he was saying this is and this is from this is the new era.
- 17:26Dayna Roselli: Awakening is gonna be the new era, and this is gonna be a show that you can only see in Las Vegas.
- 17:32Sean McAllister: And that is the draw.
- 17:34Sean McAllister: That is the thing.
- 17:35Sean McAllister: And it's a very technologically advanced show, and I think that it is going to push the boundaries and make other shows either step up their game or you know, have uh spark some creativity and have new types of shows evolve from what we see when Awakening debuts on November 7th over at The Wynn.
- 18:01Sean McAllister: Um, but it's also the era of sports tourism as well, with the proliferation of pro sports teams here in Las Vegas.
- 18:09Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 18:10Sean McAllister: Uh this is now a destination for the visiting teams and their fans to come here and watch the game.
- 18:19Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 18:19Sean McAllister: Even though it's against a Las Vegas team, the visiting team comes with a pretty large contingent.
- 18:26Dayna Roselli: No, it does.
- 18:27Dayna Roselli: And along with the sporting events, I call it like sports entertainment.
- 18:31Dayna Roselli: We have amazing pre-shows and halftimes and period breaks, and it's a whole thing.
- 18:36Dayna Roselli: It's a very Vegas sporting event.
- 18:39Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 18:40Sean McAllister: And when people come to town for sporting events, there's obviously days around the sporting event that they'll be spending here in Las Vegas as well.
- 18:47Sean McAllister: So shows like Awakening are going to be there to entertain them away from all the action on the field.
- 18:55Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 18:56Dayna Roselli: So true.
- 18:57Dayna Roselli: So hey, and shout out to Wayne Newton, who hits every one of these eras.
- 19:01Dayna Roselli: He's still here in Las Vegas.
- 19:03Dayna Roselli: And if we went way back to probably the what's the 50s and 50s, yeah, Wayne was around then too.
- 19:08Dayna Roselli: And I remember he was a kid.
- 19:09Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 19:10Dayna Roselli: And I remember when he was performing over, I think when I got here at the Stardust, which is no longer.
- 19:15Dayna Roselli: Um, so Stardust, that's where the resorts world is now.
- 19:18Dayna Roselli: Isn't that crazy?
- 19:19Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 19:19Dayna Roselli: I don't even feel like I've lived here that that long where all these changes, how could there be like hotels that were there and then gone and new ones on top of it?
- 19:26Dayna Roselli: It's crazy.
- 19:26Sean McAllister: I was thinking the other day about when I moved here in 2005.
- 19:32Sean McAllister: Like there were days when I would just, when I was brand new to town, I would just get up early in the morning, get a coffee, and walk up and down the strip just to just to experience it because I'd never really been in Vegas before.
- 19:44Sean McAllister: And I remember walking through the boardwalk hotel and casino, which was it's probably knocked down to make city center.
- 19:52Sean McAllister: Lots of changes.
- 19:53Dayna Roselli: Lots of changes.
- 19:55Dayna Roselli: Things are different now.
- 19:57Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 19:57Dayna Roselli: And when we mention all the eras, I mean, there's not even we're not even picking out specific.
- 20:01Dayna Roselli: I feel like we picked out some specific examples, but it was kind of that feel, that vibe, that kind of entertainment, what kind of stuck for a while.
- 20:09Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 20:09Dayna Roselli: You know, and what was popular then.
- 20:11Dayna Roselli: So really interesting conversation.
- 20:13Dayna Roselli: Uh, we thought we would share it with you.
- 20:16Dayna Roselli: Um, but let's do some tips now.
- 20:18Dayna Roselli: And we're actually gonna stick with a little bit of pop culture in this one.
- 20:28Sean McAllister: We were recently on assignment with our company, Insightful Media, to do some work over at the Atomic Museum.
- 20:36Sean McAllister: And when we were over there, we saw their pop culture display and realized how ingrained atomic testing and atomic culture is with Las Vegas.
- 20:52Dayna Roselli: It was so interesting because I knew a little bit, you know, being in the news business and living here in Las Vegas, in Nevada for so long, but I learned so much at this museum.
- 21:02Dayna Roselli: It's over near UNLV, okay, so it's right near the strip.
- 21:06Dayna Roselli: And it's the atomic testing museum.
- 21:08Dayna Roselli: But there was a lot of exhibits that there is, I should say, because it's still up and running.
- 21:13Dayna Roselli: And they're actually trying to attract more and more people and let people know about this.
- 21:16Dayna Roselli: But they have like this whole pop culture exhibit that we learned a lot about.
- 21:20Dayna Roselli: And it was so interesting to me that there were actually like atomic testing bomb viewing parties.
- 21:27Dayna Roselli: Viewing parties.
- 21:29Dayna Roselli: And we were like, well, so like now there's like, you know, boxing and UFC parties and watch parties, but there were like watch parties and viewing parties.
- 21:38Dayna Roselli: And people would stand on the roofs of hotels and watch this, and they would pour drinks, and and there were cereal boxes that had the atomic bomb.
- 21:46Dayna Roselli: There was miss atomic bomb.
- 21:47Dayna Roselli: There was all sorts of culture surrounding this.
- 21:51Dayna Roselli: And it was it's just a really interesting museum that I wanted to put in tips today to make sure that everyone knows we have this.
- 21:58Dayna Roselli: Go explore.
- 21:59Sean McAllister: Yeah, and it's East Flamingo, not too far off of the strip.
- 22:03Sean McAllister: So an easy uh Uber or taxi ride or lift if you're in town visiting or if you're a a resident, it's easy to you know get over there as well.
- 22:14Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and I wonder how many people even know.
- 22:16Dayna Roselli: You know, um, if you don't know, we had atomic testing here in Nevada.
- 22:21Sean McAllister: Yeah, and a whole industry was built because of the atomic testing here.
- 22:26Sean McAllister: So it is really cool.
- 22:29Sean McAllister: Uh there's uh some people who work over there who volunteer who are actually involved in the work that went on at um the Nevada test site.
- 22:40Sean McAllister: So there's first hand information that you can that you can glean from the volunteers over there as well.
- 22:46Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's and it's a large museum.
- 22:48Dayna Roselli: It is, and they have a lot of stuff, you know, real stuff, some replicas, but mostly, you know, a lot of the exhibits are really taken from that time.
- 22:58Dayna Roselli: So go check it out if you get some time.
- 23:01Dayna Roselli: Hey, something you wanted to mention was the speakeasy over at the mob museum, because we were chatting, we're saying maybe a lot of people don't know about this.
- 23:07Dayna Roselli: It's an underground speakeasy inside the mob museum, right?
- 23:12Sean McAllister: And the mob museum also highlighting another era of uh Las Vegas that is very storied, and you know, remnants of it is now resurfacing out at Lake Mead as the water level drops.
- 23:26Sean McAllister: You can go to the mob museum to hear all about those stories, but yeah, there is a speakeasy that is in the basement of the mob museum.
- 23:35Sean McAllister: It's open Monday through Wednesday, noon to 10, Thursday to Sunday, noon to midnight, um, which is really cool.
- 23:43Sean McAllister: You have to get to get in though, you have to go to the mob museum website in order to get the password to allow you in.
- 23:51Sean McAllister: It's very in in speakeasy fashion, you know.
- 23:54Dayna Roselli: It is, it is.
- 23:55Dayna Roselli: I was looking at like this, it'll be different, so it will change because we're recording this early, but like this week's password's fall guy.
- 24:02Dayna Roselli: Um, you have to be 21 and over, obviously, to go, but a kind of a cool place if you've never been.
- 24:08Dayna Roselli: First of all, go check out the mob museum.
- 24:10Dayna Roselli: Then remember, you know, go have a drink after.
- 24:13Dayna Roselli: There's a full bar cocktail menu, they have weekly live music, so it's it's really fun.
- 24:20Sean McAllister: It is.
- 24:21Sean McAllister: So mob museum has a a whole bunch, including drinks.
- 24:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 24:25Sean McAllister: So we love that.
- 24:26Sean McAllister: And coming up next week on Vegas Revealed, we're hosting a dinner at Scotch 80 Prime over at the Palms.
- 24:35Sean McAllister: This is uh kind of the launch of a kind of an exclusive dinner party concept.
- 24:41Dayna Roselli: Yeah, we're asked to pass the plate.
- 24:43Dayna Roselli: So we'll tell you everything that we did and how it worked, and also just give you kind of an update on Scotch 80 because it obviously closed for a long time because the Palms didn't reopen right after COVID started opening more and more businesses and casinos.
- 24:59Dayna Roselli: Remember, it took a long time.
- 25:00Dayna Roselli: So now Scotch 80 is back open.
- 25:02Dayna Roselli: I haven't been there.
- 25:03Dayna Roselli: Guess what?
- 25:03Dayna Roselli: I rang in 2020 at Scotch 80.
- 25:06Sean McAllister: Did you really?
- 25:07Dayna Roselli: Yes, that was where I was like, it's gonna be a great year.
- 25:10Sean McAllister: Well, I know.
- 25:12Dayna Roselli: I have pictures and everything.
- 25:14Dayna Roselli: Um, it was a fun night.
- 25:15Dayna Roselli: Anyway, that's the last time that I've been there.
- 25:17Dayna Roselli: And then we obviously had little tester bites and stuff when the palms reopened.
- 25:21Dayna Roselli: They had to, but um, we're gonna get a taste of all the chef's favorites.
- 25:26Dayna Roselli: So we'll have to share with you of that menu what our favorites are coming up next week.
- 25:33Sean McAllister: Gonna be a great dinner.
- 25:35Sean McAllister: Also, um, a magician on the strip who's kind of been said to usher in the new era of magic on the strip as well.
- 25:44Sean McAllister: Shin Lim, he has a show called Limitless.
- 25:48Sean McAllister: It's over at the Mirage, which is the location where Siegfried and Roy performed for years.
- 25:54Sean McAllister: I recently had a great conversation with Shin Lim.
- 25:58Sean McAllister: He's super appreciative to be at the property where his magic idols performed and made famous.
- 26:05Sean McAllister: And his show is really unique.
- 26:08Dayna Roselli: And I'm looking forward to hearing about this because I hear so much about him and I haven't been yet.
- 26:13Dayna Roselli: So I'm looking forward to hearing what you discovered.
- 26:16Dayna Roselli: It was for a recent episode of Vegas on.
- 26:18Dayna Roselli: We always like to wait until that debuts and then we can talk about it too.
- 26:22Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 26:23Sean McAllister: So we had a really great chat.
