- 4:11Speaker 1: Very cool That just that show and the people that have been able to get through that process and win and get their Moonshine made professionally, legally, at a legal distillery is really a cool thing.

- 6:20Speaker 1: We're doing our best to keep going, but you know, getting good bourbon and everything for the show and then also working as hard as we do for getting guests.
- 6:29Speaker 1: I mean the last two podcasts.
- 6:31Speaker 1: We had Barry Bringer.
- 6:34Speaker 1: We had Jud Weiss, alberta Distillery, barry Bringer, rd1, both owners and operators, and you know they're making great whiskey.
- 6:46Speaker 1: They've been on the show.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Brad Bonds from Revival We went down there and we did that.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Plus, we went to Buffalo Trace and saw Harlan Wheatley our last couple podcast.
- 6:56Speaker 1: So make sure you check those out.
- 6:57Speaker 1: The Harlan Wheatley both podcasts actually were fantastic, but the Harlan Wheatley was extremely informative.
- 7:05Speaker 1: But that brings me to what this is going to be.
- 7:08Speaker 1: This is going to be extremely informative, i promise you All right.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Randy is watching.
- 7:17Speaker 1: The president of Kentucky Bourbon Festival and El Presidente of the Scotchy Bourbon Boys.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Glad to see you, randy.
- 7:25Speaker 1: We are going to cover tonight Kentucky Bourbon Festival and all the different things that are there.
- 7:33Speaker 1: I might you know for 2023 there's going to be surprises.
- 7:38Speaker 1: I have not experienced it, but being there, you know, in 2020, you know, in 2021 and 2022 we've had two fantastic, fantastic festivals with Randy and we're looking forward to this third one.
- 7:54Speaker 1: It should be amazing.
- 7:57Speaker 1: But the thing I want to tell you it is July 11th The festival runs the 14th through the 17th.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Thursday night is Bourbon in the air, but it's sold out.
- 8:10Speaker 1: So that event, if you don't have your tickets, it's one of the premiere events, in my opinion.
- 8:16Speaker 1: You basically everybody and all the distilleries are set up.
- 8:20Speaker 1: There's only a certain amount of people going around, but what those distilleries are doing is they're there with their master distillers, their owners and everybody who makes the whiskey, and they are tasting some of their higher end pours that are out there.
- 8:37Speaker 1: It's just a great, phenomenal evening event that kicks off Kentucky Bourbon Festival.
- 8:46Speaker 1: I think the last two years have been spectacular.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Last year, the only thing I had a complaint about it.
- 8:52Speaker 1: It wasn't long enough because I kept getting stuck having long conversations with different distillers and just didn't even come close to go around.
- 9:03Speaker 1: But one of the really, really cool things about the festival last year was that the distilleries the distillers that had Kentucky distilling license they were able to sell, and are again this year sell their own bottles.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Now I know that Heaven Hill did a really good job of releasing some special releases last year And the law changed right before the festival, like in the middle of the, i believe it, just the late spring, early summer, and the distilleries just didn't know what to do with that or what they could do with that.
- 9:51Speaker 1: I mean, when I first came to the 2019 Kentucky Bourbon Festival, you were able to get a drink and walk, leave the booth and walk around with it, but that was it.
- 10:06Speaker 1: It was, that was the only thing.
- 10:09Speaker 1: That was the first year you could walk around with the pour around.
- 10:14Speaker 1: We were, i had VIP, so I would go up to the VIP, come down and you were able to walk around, but since then, what you're able to do is crazy.
- 10:24Speaker 1: This is going to be a spectacular, spectacular festival.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Now let's just talk about what's left right now.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Right now there are the weekend Bourbon Taster Pass and the Sunday Sampler Single Day Bourbon Taster.
- 10:47Speaker 1: All right, so there's a couple of things that happened why you want that weekend pass.
- 10:53Speaker 1: One is that Kentucky Bourbon Festival and their teams go to the different distilleries And these they do barrel picks for.
- 11:03Speaker 1: I believe this year it's a little less.
- 11:06Speaker 1: I think last year was like 20, i think this year it's 12 or 13.
- 11:10Speaker 1: I'm not sure if Randy is still watching me or if Stacey's watching also.
- 11:15Speaker 1: So tell me you guys, let me know, let me know how many barrel picks you did.
- 11:23Speaker 1: But the barrel picks are going to be sold by the distilleries that the picks were made at.
- 11:30Speaker 1: So that was really a cool.
- 11:32Speaker 1: What would you say?
- 11:34Speaker 1: That's a cool addition.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Before it was sold at a bottle shop and we say, okay, so they don't know, all right, we will sell out by mid-August, all right.
- 11:46Speaker 1: So Randy pushes in that by mid-August the tickets will be no longer available.
- 11:55Speaker 1: But that Bourbon Weekend, pat Weekend, bourbon Taster is available now.
- 12:00Speaker 1: So you wanna get that, because what that allows you to do is be there Friday, saturday, sunday, and when those distilleries are selling those barrel picks that they haven't finished quite yet when they are selling those, you're gonna be able to get those probably the first and maybe into the second day.
- 12:22Speaker 1: But that first day I know for a fact, people are gonna be going around.
- 12:26Speaker 1: I don't know how the distilleries are going.
- 12:29Speaker 1: If they're going to try and equally sell on each day the barrel pick, i mean, i think it'll kind of be up to them, or they're just gonna sell it right away.
- 12:41Speaker 1: One of the cool things about it when you had a bottle shop, the bottle shop had the pressure of selling all those barrels, and how many and whatever, but a distillery selling their own barrel pick from Kentucky Bourbon Festival.
- 12:56Speaker 1: If they don't which I don't think is gonna be a problem I think they will sell out.
- 13:01Speaker 1: But if they didn't sell their barrel pick out, they could take it back to their distillery and sell it out at their distillery.
- 13:08Speaker 1: I don't think that's a problem.
- 13:09Speaker 1: it's a much better model in my opinion.
- 13:12Speaker 1: And then they're also gonna be able to do I know that last year they really didn't know, but they could every year do their own special release of a special bottle just for Kentucky Bourbon Festival.
- 13:27Speaker 1: I don't know if any of them are doing that, but I know Heaven Hill released, their private select was being at the distill.
- 13:36Speaker 1: People were lining up and they had private select available Thursday night at Bourbon Bourbon in the air.
- 13:46Speaker 1: They had private select Friday, saturday and I believe they saved some for Sunday.
- 13:51Speaker 1: So that was really a cool thing.
- 13:54Speaker 1: All right, evergreen oh, let's see breaking news.
- 13:59Speaker 1: Evergreen Liquors is opening a Bargston location and will be selling a few exclusive single barrels for the Kentucky Bourbon Festival.
- 14:09Speaker 1: That's even cooler.
- 14:11Speaker 1: So now you're getting outside the festival.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Thank you for that.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Randy, did not know that.
- 14:19Speaker 1: That's even another cool thing of why you need to come down.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Get down there the night of September 14th.
- 14:27Speaker 1: If you got your bourbon in the air, you need to get there but the Scotchy Bourbon and then be there all throughout the weekend because there's so much that happens Now.
- 14:37Speaker 1: There's a lot of kind of cool things that are happening.
- 14:39Speaker 1: So you've got those weekend bourbon taster passes.
- 14:44Speaker 1: They're $175.
- 14:46Speaker 1: You get the three days at the festival.
- 14:48Speaker 1: I'm telling you there are, i believe, again, over 50 distilleries.
- 14:55Speaker 1: I believe it's that last time I checked was 52, but I can go over them right now.
- 15:02Speaker 1: Where are we distilleries?
- 15:06Speaker 1: interactive energy bottle sales from the distillery.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Ah, there they are Bargstown Bourbon Company Buffalo Trades, curly, four Roses, heaven Hill Distillery.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Jim Beam Distilling Company, makers Mark, old Forrester, preservation, rabbit Hole, woodford Reserve, 1792, angels Envy.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Barrelcraft Spirits, bullet, bourbon, green River, kentucky, owl Log, still Lucky Seven.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Luxrow, mikter's, new Riff, rd1, wild Turkey, wilderness Trail, luxrow, mik.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Oh, let's see.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Barrel House distilling company, blue note, that's a new, there's one right there.
- 15:50Speaker 1: I'm heartfelt in company film.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Land spirits.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Chicken cock whiskey.
- 15:54Speaker 1: All right, chinese needs to quickly.
- 15:57Speaker 1: Patrick, here we go.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Boom County, bourbon, broken barrel buzzards, roosts, castle and key Hemingway whiskey, hidden barn, jept the creed, peerless distilling, limestone branch, lexington Distilling company Luca Mariano, milan and green bluegrass distillers, town branch three cords, red line, pursuit spirits, proof-and-wood prohibition craft spirits, pensive, penelope, steelhouse, ingram, new Lou, nearly family distillery.
- 16:38Speaker 1: I mean, that's insane and they're all gonna be there with their booths Tasting Where you're gonna be able to taste, and that is 100% on your 175 dollars.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Now, in my opinion, 100% is that there's no way you could taste 52 in one day, but I think you can fit 52 in Three days.
- 17:06Speaker 1: So that's really that, that that part of the whiskey, part It's.
- 17:11Speaker 1: It's unlike any other Festival.
- 17:15Speaker 1: Honestly, i get super excited when I talk about this.
- 17:20Speaker 1: The grounds and the tents and how everything set up is set up in a way where the distilleries can either they can go all out Or they can basically, you know, just go Medium as a tent, but the majority of them go put put in a really put up a really nice tent and a really nice tasting experience.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Now with 50, with these 50 some distilleries there, they're really Wasn't a line.
- 17:53Speaker 1: There's a couple places that you might have skipped over because it was a little crowded then, but then you'd go back a couple hours later And it wouldn't be crowded.
- 18:01Speaker 1: But I just want to, you know, quickly talk about also that Sunday weekend bourbon Taster past.
- 18:09Speaker 1: No, no, no, that Sunday Sam sample single-day bourbon Taster.
- 18:15Speaker 1: So that gives you Sunday only mission with reentry privileges for Kentucky.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Bourbon said you get the wee Glen Karen, which is a note.
- 18:23Speaker 1: So you, everybody gets a going that Glen Karen so that you can go around and get your samples, and then you get sampling from all the Distilleries on Sunday and then the ability to purchase the bottles from the distilleries.
- 18:36Speaker 1: So it's like Um, there's also entertainment, there's a food truck area, exhibits, but and then there is That's what that covers on that Sunday.
- 18:50Speaker 1: So that allows you in and get, gets the taste of the festival, that's for somebody.
- 18:54Speaker 1: But that weekend bourbon Taster, let's go into that, which is kind of cool.
- 18:59Speaker 1: Whoa, all right.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Oh, why is it not okay?
- 19:06Speaker 1: there we go, it's opened up now.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Here we go.
- 19:10Speaker 1: That has the daily emission Friday, saturday, sunday.
- 19:14Speaker 1: You get your Glen Karen, your weekend Glen Karen, and then sampling for all participants, distillers throughout the weekend, ability to purchase the bottles, and then you also get into the Access into Distilleries, fun and informative Talk show segments, musical entertainment, the expanded food truck area and exhibits.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Um, now There are premium add-ons and educational sessions That you can add on to your ticket.
- 19:44Speaker 1: I think most of them I'm not exactly sure, but a lot of that sold out right away.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Um, that was for Let's see Patrick Johnson's watching.
- 19:55Speaker 1: He's excited about boon county.
- 19:57Speaker 1: That's not me too.
- 19:58Speaker 1: And then, um, new goal taste all 52 in one day.
- 20:01Speaker 1: I strongly suggest not to taste all 52 in one day.
- 20:07Speaker 1: that that's.
- 20:08Speaker 1: That would be a rough one.
- 20:09Speaker 1: And then Now the really cool thing about the Kentucky Bourbon Festival and this year's VIP sold out so fast.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Uh, we tried to get VIP for all of us.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Going into a certain note, we wanted a certain thing.
- 20:22Speaker 1: We were barely able to get what we needed now The bourbon enthusiast VIP, which we have a couple of for um, that one is really cool because you get an hour Early entry into Kentucky Bourbon Festival 11 am Daily.
- 20:40Speaker 1: So all of you that have that VIP that are looking or listening to this, this is a really cool thing.
- 20:47Speaker 1: And it's just the regular VIP.
- 20:49Speaker 1: It was 495 dollars for the weekend, but I don't see how that's not a deal in itself.
- 20:55Speaker 1: You get there an hour early into Kentucky bourbon festival at 11 am.
- 20:59Speaker 1: It normally opens that noon.
- 21:01Speaker 1: Friday.
- 21:01Speaker 1: Sunday access to VIP Penthouse tent adjacent to the Great Lawn and craft distillers row.
- 21:07Speaker 1: So now, honestly, that tent is you get special, special things in there small bites offered throughout the day Friday and Saturday, 11 am, the 6 pm, 11 to 4 pm, special tastings and meeting greet opportunities with select master distillers and brand ambassadors.
- 21:27Speaker 1: A Glen Caron sky cut crystal tumbler.
- 21:30Speaker 1: So you get that.
- 21:32Speaker 1: I'm not sure if you still get the Uh, if you're gonna still get the wee Glen Caron, but I would imagine probably that's kind of what went Excuse me, what went down in the last couple years and then the collectible bourbon enthusiast, credential and lanyard And then opening night bourbon in the air event ticket.
- 21:53Speaker 1: So you get the bourbon in the air included with that VIP It's.
- 21:57Speaker 1: We got a couple of those.
- 21:58Speaker 1: Then we got a couple flask force and the flask force is another $5.95 And basically it comes with everything that I just said on the regular VIP.
- 22:11Speaker 1: But now this one, this one comes with, uh, a jack brahm well power Pewter flask.
- 22:22Speaker 1: Okay, so you get a pewter flask, the jake brahm well pewter flask, which is pretty cool.
- 22:26Speaker 1: Those are not inexpensive, they're very cool.
- 22:30Speaker 1: And then you get the 2023 barred stong bourbon company single barrel, kentucky bourbon festival bottle, signed by steve nally.
- 22:38Speaker 1: So you get a.
- 22:39Speaker 1: You get that Pick.
- 22:40Speaker 1: That's a special pick for vi P people on the flask force.
- 22:46Speaker 1: And then you get also the Glen Caron sky cut crystal tumbler Uh, collectible.
- 22:51Speaker 1: 2023 flask force.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Credential and lanyard limited edition.
- 22:55Speaker 1: 2023 flask force tea An opening night bourbon in the air.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Now, that's pretty damn cool.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Now I purchased and I'm so psyched about this.
- 23:06Speaker 1: This is um saturday And this one each decanter.
- 23:14Speaker 1: This is the decanter club, and I don't know why, but this is my birthday and christmas present all locked up into one, and also father's day.
- 23:24Speaker 1: I mean she doesn't have to actually buy me anything, i think, for, like the rest of my life with this one, but um, each decad receives the following in addition to sampling all participants that, through the ability to purchase bottles and select distilleries, um, it gets you the one hour early Um friday uh, vip tent adjacent to the great lawn.
- 23:44Speaker 1: That's the same thing you get with the other vip, but then you get one ticket to each of the four, four premium distillery showcase events in the great tent.

- 24:23Speaker 1: And you get an opening night bourbon in the event, in the air event.
- 24:28Speaker 1: I don't know if you get the t-shirt, but you would imagine that I didn't see that.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Maybe, maybe not, who knows.
- 24:35Speaker 1: I'm all for that is going over.
- 24:38Speaker 1: Exactly what you get.
- 24:40Speaker 1: Um, it's, it's unbelievable what you get.
- 24:45Speaker 1: So I didn't get all that.
- 24:48Speaker 1: Let's see.
- 24:48Speaker 1: Oh, stacey says it's delicious.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Uh, i don't know what she's referring to, but um, we'll find out.
- 24:58Speaker 1: Uh, but so that's.
- 25:00Speaker 1: That's.
- 25:01Speaker 1: That's the kentucky bourbon festival Packages that are there You've got the same.
- 25:52Speaker 1: you've got the ticket package still available, so I highly recommend the weekend bourbon taster.
- 25:59Speaker 1: You've got to get down there now.
- 26:00Speaker 1: The scotchy bourbon boys are going to be there.
- 26:03Speaker 1: We're going to be podcasting with the podcasters in um, the media tent, uh, on that that they have set up.
- 26:10Speaker 1: I'm not exactly how it's but, but I can tell you we're going to be all over that the whole time.
- 26:16Speaker 1: but We're going to be down The sad.
- 26:20Speaker 1: the kentucky bourbon festival starts on thursday night.
- 26:23Speaker 1: We will be doing whatever, trying to get in, do whatever setup or organization We possibly can during thursday, check out the place and then thursday night, we are going to uh, be at bourbon in the air now.
- 26:36Speaker 1: Uh, we actually are coming down the saturday, before that thursday.
- 26:42Speaker 1: We will be driving down And we have some Special events.
- 26:48Speaker 1: if you're a Scotchy Bourbon boy and you want to come down early, there's a lot going on.
- 26:55Speaker 1: One we are going to be putting up.
- 26:59Speaker 1: we are bringing with us our own podcast tent and we are going to be setting up a podcasting studio from our Airbnb right out about seven minutes outside of Bardstown, and we will be available for distilleries to come by after or people to come out by us And at that Airbnb it's going to be an outdoor venue.
- 27:31Speaker 1: We've got fire pit and chairs and just the overall really cool place And we should be doing some major live broadcasts the whole week before Kentucky Bourbon Festival.
- 27:46Speaker 1: Now we are going to set up that and I'm going to try and get as many distillers or people in Bardstown people that I know you know to come over and hang out with us and do a podcast in the evenings, as many evenings as we can.
- 28:07Speaker 1: And then two we are going to be doing a single barrel pick through Heaven Hill and Elijah Craig Barrelproof.
- 28:19Speaker 1: On the Monday the Scotchy Bourbon boys are going to go to Heaven Hill.
- 28:25Speaker 1: Hopefully we'll be picking with Bernie Lover's.
- 28:28Speaker 1: We kind of tentatively have that set up.
- 28:31Speaker 1: So the next barrel pick for the Scotchy Bourbon boys will be the Monday before Kentucky Bourbon Festival And we will be picking an Elijah Craig barrel strength single barrel And I encourage anybody who's going to want that to contact me direct message.
- 28:54Speaker 1: Once we do the pick we will be able to have vouchers available for when it gets bottled and ready to go.
- 29:03Speaker 1: So that's going to be a Scotchy Bourbon boys Elijah Craig barrel strength.
- 29:07Speaker 1: We are going to be doing that barrel pick on the Monday before Kentucky Bourbon Festival.
- 29:14Speaker 1: Now that leaves out Tuesday, but Wednesday is the really cool thing.
- 29:20Speaker 1: If you want to know, kate's watching that's Randy's Randy's spouse at the moment.
- 29:31Speaker 1: So, kate, hi, glad to see you, and we are going to be doing the Kentucky Bourbon boys Scotchy Bourbon boys third annual bus tour.
- 29:47Speaker 1: Just a few tickets remain.
- 29:51Speaker 1: And this bus tour we've done it before.
- 29:54Speaker 1: If you check out the Facebook or on YouTube, you can see last year's.
- 29:58Speaker 1: Bo Cumberland documented our bus tour Last year.
- 30:03Speaker 1: it was fantastic.
- 30:04Speaker 1: It started out at Bardstown Bourbon Company with Greg Schneider giving us the third tasting of his new make.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Three years in a row we've tasted it and we got to taste the third the original new make in his third.
- 30:19Speaker 1: And I'm so freaking excited that we're going to be able to taste our fourth, the fourth year.
- 30:27Speaker 1: This is the first year we got to take the new make, taste the new make, and this is it's.
- 30:32Speaker 1: it'll be fourth in its fourth year.
- 30:34Speaker 1: fourth time we get to taste the new make, and four years into this.
- 30:38Speaker 1: So I'm super excited about that, because this is these are the barrels that Greg has laid down And you know we got to taste it that that last year.
- 30:51Speaker 1: But this year we're going to finish up at Bardstown Bourbon Company and have Greg lead the tour again.
- 31:00Speaker 1: So last year it was Bardstown Bourbon Company over to the country club for for lunch.
- 31:08Speaker 1: Then we went to Jim Beam for a full tour and tasting with Sandy No and bottled our own knob Creek and then finished up at Lux Row where John Rempe was signing our bottles and all around.
- 31:26Speaker 1: It was just a great tour and tasting there.
- 31:29Speaker 1: So afterwards everybody came back to the Airbnb.
- 31:32Speaker 1: We ordered pizza and drank some more pores.
- 31:35Speaker 1: But I'll tell you, on the Scotchie Bourbon Boys bus tour we've got.
- 31:42Speaker 1: You're so bad, randy.
- 31:44Speaker 1: We on the Scotchie Bourbon Boys bus tour this year we've got some super poor.
- 31:52Speaker 1: Super Nash is going to be bringing some, i'm going to be bringing some, so you get the extra.
- 31:58Speaker 1: So what you get for this is we started at 30 at our Airbnb.
- 32:02Speaker 1: We do a toast.
- 32:03Speaker 1: Everybody gets their tasting.
- 32:06Speaker 1: Glen Caron's we that we start with for the day.
- 32:08Speaker 1: We do a toast, hop on the bus and this year we are going to head to Makers Mark, going down to Makers Mark And then, once we're at Makers Mark, we will take a full tour and tasting there And from there we are going to head to log still distillery.
- 32:32Speaker 1: We've got Charlie Dant, i've talked to him and he is going to give us a tour and tasting.
- 32:38Speaker 1: You're not going to want to miss that.
- 32:40Speaker 1: log still distillery is our sponsor And they have been nothing but super and great for us And I just look forward to being able to see that distillery every single time we go down there.
- 32:53Speaker 1: There's another thing open that they've got set up and I initially went down there when they were just their tasting room and met Charlie.
- 33:02Speaker 1: I stayed at the bed and breakfast, met Charlie.
- 33:06Speaker 1: He gave me the tour of the vision and the vision now, about two and a half years later, is complete.
- 33:12Speaker 1: It's just amazing.
- 33:14Speaker 1: So I can't wait to get into that tour.
- 33:19Speaker 1: and then we are finishing up.
- 33:20Speaker 1: We'll get lunch.
- 33:20Speaker 1: I'm not sure where that goes, but you'll be able to pick from the menu.
- 33:24Speaker 1: They'll let us know where lunch is as we get closer.
- 33:30Speaker 1: and then we will finish up at the Bardstown bourbon company again, where Greg Schneider will give us that tour and tasting and update us on his new make.
- 33:37Speaker 1: Super, super excited about that.
- 33:43Speaker 1: He's asking why Because tonight I did not have this wasn't an impromptu podcast.
- 33:56Speaker 1: Why isn't CT on?
- 33:59Speaker 1: He's busy.
- 34:00Speaker 1: Why isn't Whiskey on?
- 34:01Speaker 1: He's busy.
- 34:02Speaker 1: Why isn't Super Nash on?
- 34:05Speaker 1: They're all busy after that 4th of July.
- 34:07Speaker 1: Super Nash.
- 34:08Speaker 1: congratulations, my friend.
- 34:10Speaker 1: He did get married on July 1st.
- 34:15Speaker 1: Saturday, july 1st, sherry and him got married in Colorado.
- 34:20Speaker 1: Super, super awesome Congratulations.
- 34:24Speaker 1: We're so happy.
- 34:24Speaker 1: I met Sherry almost exactly the same time I met Super Nash and I'm so happy for them.
- 34:34Speaker 1: They had such a good time out there.
- 34:35Speaker 1: But he's back in real life and way behind on work after his honeymoon in Colorado getting married.
- 34:43Speaker 1: And so tonight I was just winging it and I figured let's just talk about Kentucky Bourbon Festival, something that I do know of.
- 34:52Speaker 1: Now, what I did want to say is that there's been picks.
- 34:55Speaker 1: Now this year Stacey would will vouch for me, stacey, that I went on the New Rift pick.
- 35:02Speaker 1: I was on the New Rift pick last year also and this was the one.
- 35:06Speaker 1: But this is the kind of thing I just wanted to go over real quick.
- 35:09Speaker 1: I wanted to put that bottle out there for everybody to see.
- 35:12Speaker 1: We've got, you got the New Rift, but you get that special Distillers row label.
- 35:22Speaker 1: I was on this pick.
- 35:24Speaker 1: This is the bottle here.
- 35:25Speaker 1: opened it.
- 35:26Speaker 1: I like to when you go on picks with Kentucky Bourbon Festival, you end up with a bottle.
- 35:34Speaker 1: Now, this is a very special bottle to me.
- 35:37Speaker 1: This is my first ever Bourbon Festival, my first ever barrel pick.
- 35:44Speaker 1: This was with Freddie now at the at the Kentucky Bourbon Festival offices in 2021.
- 35:57Speaker 1: It was a special day picked with Steve Coombs, coombsy and Randy, and Freddie brought along a bunch of stuff and both Justin's from Justin's house of Bourbon and it was just a really, really cool pick.
- 36:14Speaker 1: I still have this bottle.
- 36:16Speaker 1: I think I will have this bottle forever because of the fact I did get two.
- 36:21Speaker 1: I bought one also and drank it and it was delicious, but I've got my other one because the reason why I got that other one is because it was my first ever pick.
- 36:33Speaker 1: Yes, i remember it.
- 36:37Speaker 1: Yes, it was.
- 36:37Speaker 1: it was an amazing day.
- 36:39Speaker 1: We drank some really good whiskey Jacobswell, which was released last year at the festival.
- 36:46Speaker 1: we got to taste that.
- 36:47Speaker 1: and then Fred's signature, which is right over in my other cabinet that I picked up this spring, got to taste that while we were there.
- 36:56Speaker 1: Plus, we got to do the barrel pick.
- 36:57Speaker 1: So that was a phenomenal, phenomenal time.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Love doing the barrel picks with Kentucky Bourbon Festival.
- 37:04Speaker 1: Since then did a couple of those for the.
- 37:07Speaker 1: we've done two for the Scotchy Bourbon Boys and we're going to do our third.
- 37:11Speaker 1: And then also I've been able to do some picks with the state of Ohio.
- 37:14Speaker 1: So just love doing barrel picks.
- 37:18Speaker 1: It's such a fun thing.
- 37:20Speaker 1: I keep meeting, you know, you keep meeting the people and you know it's funny because I really want to just keep setting up the podcast and keep chugging along and keep getting listeners and keep getting devoted people that are that listen to the podcast.
- 37:36Speaker 1: But I I want to do this full time and retire early.
- 37:43Speaker 1: But at the moment it keeps getting bigger And if there's ever been a time that you wish you could get older faster, this is it.
- 37:53Speaker 1: I wish I'd be there so I could do it full time, but at the same time I don't want to.
- 37:57Speaker 1: I don't want to add those four years on to my life yet.
- 38:00Speaker 1: So I'll just have to chug along and not wish too much times goes by too fast and just enjoy the ride for now.
- 38:10Speaker 1: So it's just been a super blast.
- 38:12Speaker 1: But then also last year Kentucky Bourbon Festival did their first, the first ever barrel pick for chicken cock, and Greg Schneider signed that one.
- 38:23Speaker 1: That was a really, really cool experience and be able to get this bottle.
- 38:30Speaker 1: I debated whether I would open it or not, but and and I did.
- 38:36Speaker 1: Oh, hey, i'm the guy from giant.
- 38:40Speaker 1: Hey, brad Brad's watching on YouTube.
- 38:42Speaker 1: Good to see you, he's like.
- 38:46Speaker 1: I'm the guy that's in line at giant eagle.
- 38:48Speaker 1: That's, that's great.
- 38:49Speaker 1: I'm glad that you're watching on YouTube.
- 38:51Speaker 1: You know, that's one thing that we're trying to get is the live YouTube going.
- 38:55Speaker 1: And then also, i just keep trying to learn on how to make all these social media things work so that everybody can see it, nobody messes up and everybody can hear me and go from there.
- 39:07Speaker 1: So, anyways, all right, so let's recap a little bit more about Kentucky Bourbon Festival, based off of us being down there.
- 39:17Speaker 1: Now.
- 39:17Speaker 1: We've got open days, and so what I'm going to try and do is throw out if any of the distilleries are getting there early, or the people you know that run the distilleries or own the distilleries, you know, if they want to do an early podcast, i'm going to be able to do that Also.
- 39:39Speaker 1: Randy, i understand that you're busy, but, like I said, if you want to any time, you want to just stop by.
- 39:48Speaker 1: We could earlier in the week, we could as far as early as, i believe Monday night the tent will be going up for the podcasting.
- 40:00Speaker 1: Feel free to stop by and do a pre podcast for the Kentucky Bourbon Festival.
- 40:05Speaker 1: That would be fantastic How exciting this is getting.
- 40:10Speaker 1: I know, though, that you're pretty damn busy at that time And I usually leave you alone.
- 40:15Speaker 1: So we'll keep doing that and keep going on.
- 40:19Speaker 1: But I have so much more to book Because we are getting down there on sat, we'll be driving down on Saturday.
- 40:27Speaker 1: I'm sure at one point on Saturday we will be hitting nearly because that is right on our way, we might hit Boone County also, because we have not done that yet, and that's right down on our way down.
- 40:39Speaker 1: And then Sundays wide open.
- 40:41Speaker 1: Monday we've got the barrel pick in the morning, so that leaves us Monday afternoon.
- 40:46Speaker 1: And then Tuesday's open, which then leaves us Wednesday for the bus tour.
- 40:52Speaker 1: Thursday goes into the get ready and bourbon in the air.
- 40:56Speaker 1: And then Friday, saturday, sunday just a fantastic three days.
- 41:01Speaker 1: I can't wait.
- 41:02Speaker 1: This should be amazing.
- 41:05Speaker 1: Now, once again, let's go over food trucks, 50 distilleries that are going to be there, the merchandise they're working, it's the merchandise.
- 41:17Speaker 1: I've been assured that.
- 41:18Speaker 1: You know this year's merchandise is going to be better than last year's.
- 41:24Speaker 1: And then also, you've got all the vendors that are there selling their could, the marketplace, and between all that that goes on.
- 41:36Speaker 1: I mean I am so, so looking forward to this year's Kentucky Bourbon Festival 2023,.
- 41:46Speaker 1: I think if you there, if one thing that I wanted to cover is that we do other festivals.
- 41:54Speaker 1: Bourbon on the banks is a couple weeks after Kentucky Bourbon Festival.
- 42:00Speaker 1: I think this year is three weeks, because the Saturday, the first Saturday of October, is so late.
- 42:06Speaker 1: I think it's sixth and seventh, friday and Saturday, so and they finish up, so it's there's some time this year between the festivals, which is I'm happy for, and then also we do.
- 42:17Speaker 1: We've been a part of a couple festivals here in Ohio.
- 42:20Speaker 1: There's the Ohio craft distillery festival And then also there are groups around here that have a couple festivals.
- 42:31Speaker 1: We were up in Dayton where there was a whiskey festival at Aiton Barrel Works And we've been a part of that And don't get me wrong, those type festivals, and we actually went to Galena whiskey festival this year And I think next year we're going to try and go to our main festival.
- 42:48Speaker 1: Besides, kentucky Bourbon Festival Next year will be in New Orleans.
- 42:53Speaker 1: But what I find is there's a difference between Kentucky Bourbon Festival and other festivals.
- 43:01Speaker 1: One you're in Bardstown, kentucky, which is within an hour of the majority of the distilleries that produce, that are producing bourbon in Kentucky.
- 43:15Speaker 1: Now, that's the majority of them.
- 43:17Speaker 1: Okay, you've got the Lexington, louisville, bardstown Triangle all within an hour of each other And actually Louisville's between Bardstown and Louisville.
- 43:25Speaker 1: It's even closer than that.
- 43:27Speaker 1: But those distilleries are represented at the Kentucky Bourbon Festival in a way where It's the people you know Dan McKee from Mixtures He's at the booth talking and signing, and Greg Schneiders at the booth Other what would you say, other festivals.
- 43:58Speaker 1: A lot of times you're getting the reps.
- 43:59Speaker 1: You're getting the reps that represent the brand and there's nothing wrong with that.
- 44:06Speaker 1: The reps are knowledgeable.
- 44:08Speaker 1: They also have connections.
- 44:12Speaker 1: a lot of them have connections with the distilleries that they represent and they know the whiskey.
- 44:18Speaker 1: There's nothing wrong with that.
- 44:20Speaker 1: It's great.
- 44:20Speaker 1: Gleena Whiskey Festival was a great festival because of the fact that they had all types of whiskey and I was able to taste some Scotches and Irish whiskies that I normally wouldn't taste.
- 44:31Speaker 1: So the ability to taste the whiskey was great.
- 44:35Speaker 1: But the experience of who you're tasting with is completely different.
- 44:41Speaker 1: I met some good friends.
- 44:43Speaker 1: I see, the reason why I went there in the first place was Martin Duffy, the Glen Caron Glass Representative for the United States, and you know he was there.
- 44:57Speaker 1: He's at Kentucky Bourbon Festival, but I got to meet some of his friends that are in the.
- 45:05Speaker 1: You know that represent the distilleries.
- 45:08Speaker 1: You know the distillery reps And when you're dealing with a distillery rep, it's not like you're dealing with Fred and Freddie.
- 45:15Speaker 1: No, you're dealing with somebody who knows Jim Beam and the product, but they a lot of times accompany Fred and Freddie but there's.
- 45:24Speaker 1: You know, when Fred and Freddie aren't gonna make the, you know they're not.
- 45:27Speaker 1: At the Gleena Whiskey Festival, you're not gonna get them Now.
- 45:31Speaker 1: At other festivals you get a few people, but here you get pretty much everybody.
- 45:35Speaker 1: I mean, i believe in 2021, in one night I was talking directly with over 15 master distillers.
- 45:47Speaker 1: I talked with Steve Nally.
- 45:50Speaker 1: I talked with Wally Dan.
- 45:51Speaker 1: I was talking with Brent Elliott for a Rose's Master Distiller.
- 45:56Speaker 1: This is where you make your connections in your Jimmy Russell.
- 46:01Speaker 1: You know Fred and Freddie.
- 46:03Speaker 1: That's Sandy Noah.
- 46:04Speaker 1: I met her in 2019.
- 46:07Speaker 1: This is the exclusive where, if you love Whiskey and you love the people who make it, you can meet them.
- 46:15Speaker 1: Like I said, we met Dan McKee last year and we're able to go to Miqtors this spring and get a good tour and a tasting and also get a really good you know, red carpet experience, and that's what Whiskey's about getting those experiences.
- 46:36Speaker 1: So this is how now, when you, the people that are I mean I got to meet Kenny Coleman and Ryan Ciso of the Bourbon's Pursuit they're gonna be there again Pursuit United And I basically was able to you know the people who I watched and inspired me to podcast they're there and got to talk to them and meet Kenny and then have Kenny on the podcast.
- 47:05Speaker 1: So super excited about what's going down and how we're gonna go about doing this this year.
- 47:12Speaker 1: Let's see.
- 47:16Speaker 1: All right, randy's back to work.
- 47:17Speaker 1: Thanks yeah, he says thanks and thanks for watching.
- 47:21Speaker 1: Randy Really appreciate it.
- 47:23Speaker 1: And I'm almost finished here.
- 47:26Speaker 1: But it's just like you get that super awesome personalized, get to meet the people who make the Bourbon experience on a high level.
- 47:39Speaker 1: I mean the VIPs experiences, the dinners, and then when you leave and go out into Bargstown at you know, and when the festival's over and each night, you get to go out and experience what is Bargstown.
- 47:53Speaker 1: I mean there's so much happening in Bargstown.
- 47:56Speaker 1: I'm so excited this year I don't, you know, i'm just getting ready and this should be a really good Kentucky Bourbon Festival.
- 48:09Speaker 1: There is no, you know, we're through those past three years.
- 48:14Speaker 1: I mean we are now completely through.
- 48:20Speaker 1: This should be absolutely fantastic.
- 48:24Speaker 1: So, all right, everybody, it's been great.
- 48:29Speaker 1: Like doing this.
- 48:32Speaker 1: Hopefully I'll be able to see a few more comments, because I know some of the comments don't show up while I'm doing this and I will answer them when I get done.
- 48:46Speaker 1: Good, same thing.
- 48:50Speaker 1: Thanks for watching Brad on YouTube.
