Transcript
- 0:01[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the Mile High Huddle Podcast with your football freeze, Chad Jensen and Zach Kilmer.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_00]: Remember, Broncos Country is not a geographical location.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: It's a state of being.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome in everybody.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_01]: This is the mile high-huttle podcast returning to Wednesday nights.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_01]: I'm your host, Chad Jensen with me.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_01]: My fellow football priest.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_01]: You know him.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_01]: You love him.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_01]: Zach Calberman.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_01]: Zach.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_01]: Spend what?
- 0:34[SPEAKER_01]: Four years or so, three and a half give or take since we were doing podcasts on Wednesday nights.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_01]: But we're back and we have plenty to talk about including Drake May given some props to old bone nicks and looking forward to what the 2026 regular season
- 0:52[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, this is actually the second time Drake may said something about bow.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_03]: I think he spoke after the Broncos lost to the Patriots in the AFC title game and he said he's praying for him and it was a classy gesture then it was a classy gesture now.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_03]: He said it's unfortunate what happened, but a special player special season.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_03]: He anticipates many battles down the road and starting in 2026 because the Broncos will be traveling the Fox bro to take on Drake may.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_03]: So I thought it was a nice gesture by number 10 on their side.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_01]: Definitely.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_01]: as I had the wrong mic connected.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: So now it should sound normal.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, Mr. producer.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I look forward to that.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we were robbed Zack in 2025.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_01]: We were robbed of two.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_01]: two possible head to heads with the 2024 quarterback class.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_01]: We didn't get bovers as Jayden Daniels.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_01]: We got bovers as Marcus Marriota.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_01]: And we didn't get bovers as Drake may.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_01]: We got steady versus Drake may, but these careers for these quarterbacks are young yet.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: Both guys may and bo.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_01]: Just finishing their second year.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_01]: The future's bright, dude.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_01]: If you guys saw the article I put up, I don't know, 15, 20 minutes ago, chronicling all of Botanix's achievements in 2025, not just in 2025, but Zach, what he's achieved up to this point in his two-year career,
- 2:12[SPEAKER_01]: There's really only a couple two, three, four quarterbacks in the history of the league that come close to achieving what he has.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_01]: It's pretty impressive and I think exciting Harbinger for Broncos Country.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_01]: What, what the future holds?
- 2:25[SPEAKER_03]: And yet, Bo still gets crabbed on, so go figure.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_03]: But like Drake may said, he was echoing what you said, the great quarterbacks in a play, each other heads ahead, and he's looking forward to playing Bo for the first time in 26.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_03]: That's going to be a really good match
- 2:40[SPEAKER_01]: No doubt about it guys.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_01]: We got a lot more to get to, including whatever's on your mind in the chat.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_01]: But first guys, we got to talk about things here.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_01]: All right.

- 4:24[SPEAKER_01]: We got the wrong in the hazy.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, brother?
- 4:27[SPEAKER_01]: Say and hit those thumbs up, subscribe to the MHH podcast, become a member of the Mount Rushmore supporters and join the discord.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_01]: Hey dude, you're hitting all the marks for us.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate you big dog and for being a member, you're awesome, bro.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_01]: We got Jordan in the house, Jordan Lewis, evening, right back at you.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_01]: He says, I have a lot of respect for Drake, me, even though I want the pets to lose.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Zach, he's got some pretty phenomenal achievements under his belt so far as well.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's not necessarily Drake may.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_03]: I have a problem with, you know, they played a light schedule, this and that, but he's always been respectful of boneics and the Broncos, it's Drake may's fans and the New England fan base that I have a problem with then Jordan, I'll echo what you said.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_03]: It's kind of a loose loose Seattle, New England, but I do hope the Patriots get their come up in on Sunday.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_01]: David Duncan, we're hoping that your time at the hospital is soon over and you get back to home and some normal senior life big dog, but you got some support here from the MHH community, we hope that you know that, yeah, I mean, Zach, how are you seeing this super ball as you're thought on.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_01]: who you expect to win this as it changed it all over the last couple days.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_03]: I'm still rooting for the meteor, but I don't think we're going to get that.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_03]: I agree with what PS2 said, the prediction.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_03]: What was it?
- 5:45[SPEAKER_03]: 35-7 Seattle.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_03]: He made headlines for that.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's going to be a pretty commanding Seattle victory.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think Drake May was built to face a team like this.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_03]: And Seattle, they're more balanced and offense and defense.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_03]: I got to be impressed with them as they played in the second half of the season.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_03]: So I do have Seattle winning this game.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_01]: I got to tell you, man, it might sound like a loser's mindset, pop a bear, brother, great to see you big dog as a Mount Rushmore supporter, dear members saying good evening, Broncos country.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, buddy.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: Great to have you.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_01]: And again, we're about an hour earlier than we usually go live because I got some stuff going on tonight that I just cannot miss.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_01]: So thanks for being with us a little bit early pop of bear.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_01]: But Zach, what I was going to say is it might sound a little bit like kind of a loser's mentality, but I still can't stop myself from at least once a day thinking, man, a phone next doesn't get hurt.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_01]: We're probably covering a super bowl.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, I'm not alone in that.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_01]: I know millions in Broncos country.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_01]: They might not have a pop in their head every single day like myself, but, you know, who else feels that way?
- 6:49[SPEAKER_01]: A guy by the name of Cortland Sutton who said, quote, you'll drive yourself crazy sitting there thinking about the what ifs.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_01]: And so I eventually got over the what ifs, but I haven't got over this situation.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_01]: I told my boy I said, maybe after the game, I'll get over it.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_01]: wants the Super Bowl ends, I'll get over it.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_01]: But best of luck to both those teams going out there performing, doing their thing, everyone knows the Broncos should have been in there.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_01]: But it's all right, close quote.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_01]: So everyone knows, I think maybe everyone's at the outside of the greater Boston area.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_03]: I don't expect that Corlan Sutton to say anything differing.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, it's still painful for him in the Broncos, the way they lost, losing Bonaix.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_03]: Kay Adams had Nick Benito and PS2 on her show yesterday from the Super Bowl and PS2 said straight up.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_03]: No doubt.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_03]: If we had Bonaix, we would have won that game against the Patriots and been here and not as visitor if it hadn't playing in the game.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_03]: So I think it's fairly obvious to the unbiased observer.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_01]: And that's not a slight, again, steady.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, steady got thrust into the most unenviable situation possible, although, you know, the way we were posturing it was, hey, you know, every quarterback back up quarterback's dreams act is to get the opportunity to start in a game like this.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_01]: But it's tough road ahead.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_01]: And he didn't get, you know, I'm kind of, you think back to Sean Payton.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to spend too much time in the past here's that.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_01]: But you think back to Sean Payton saying things like, I'm not worried about steady.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_01]: I'm worried about everyone else around him.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_01]: Turns out that included Sean Peyton with some not great decisions, but steady, man, if it was bone nicks, second half, that blizzard made it hard on everybody, including Drake may.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Drake may finish with under a hundred yards passing in that game, but I still think bull with his mobility, how strong he is, and the most important things act.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_01]: The clutch gene, they would have found a way.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, forget the blizzard how about him turning the ball over to me.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_03]: That was what lost the game the fumble because it directly led to seven page points chat.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_03]: That's the deciding factor in the game.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think both nicks tosses a two hand fumble in that game.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_03]: I think they win pretty decidedly.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_01]: Two hand fumble.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_01]: That's the name of my next band.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_01]: Two hand fumble.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_01]: I like it.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_01]: We got pop of bear.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, brother.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_01]: We also got Taylor Christianson, jumping in another deer member and super star saying Zach.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_01]: I agree on A. K. I drafted him as well.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_01]: Very hard pass.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_01]: Everyone, including Pat fans, know it should be us and Seattle in the Super Bowl if both was playing.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_03]: Taylor, I think you're talking about Alvin Kamara, who we discussed last night.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_03]: I think it was last night.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_03]: All these shows are now kind of leading together in the off season.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_03]: But, yeah, hard pass on him.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_03]: He's kind of past his prime.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_03]: The cliff is hard for everyone in the NFL every player, but it's extremely hard for running backs.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_03]: And like you, I drafted him on my fantasy team.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_03]: I thought he was going to be a reliable starter.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_03]: He was not.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_03]: So I would rather the Broncos aim a little higher.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_03]: Go get brief haul.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_03]: Go get David Montgomery.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_03]: Leave Kamara, where he is.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_01]: Even the Great Terrell Davis, the whole Famer, two-time World Champ, former MVP, 2000 yard rusher, he said, look, the Broncos need some, I won't, he didn't say upgrades, but they need to add to the running back room.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_01]: And at the very least, I would, I would kind of, Zach Portray it as, they need some infusions of talent in that running back room, big time.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_03]: Big time, yeah, they need to raise the ceiling and the floor of that room simultaneously.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no doubt Taylor, it's going to be interesting to see how this game shakes out.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_01]: I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it was kind of bloodbath in the same way that Super Bowl 48 was.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_01]: But then again, at every turn, I'll say this.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_01]: I don't mean this as a disclaimer, or as putting a little pivot point for myself down the road to go, hey, look, I said there may
- 10:42[SPEAKER_01]: at each kind of fork in the road, they continue to surprise, they continue to kind of defy speaking for myself, Zach, my expectation.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_01]: So you never know, it's still an NFL football game any given Sunday and all that, but man, I have a hard time seeing them even really keeping up with the Seahawks.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_03]: I see this a lot like the Patriots and the Ram Super Bowl from 2018.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if that was 51 or whatever, but it was like, well, it's 10-3 final.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_03]: It was super low scoring, super anti-climactic, and that's what I see in this one.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_03]: I think Seattle does win, but it's not going to be a memorable Super Bowl by any means.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_03]: That's my prediction.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_01]: Oh man, it would have been great, the opportunity to see the Broncos potentially get to balance the scales against the Seahawks in the Super Bowl.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_01]: Man, you know, I was thinking about this to the other day.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_01]: The Broncos have now been to 11 AFC Championship games.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_01]: They've advanced in eight of the 11.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_01]: Two of the three that didn't make it to.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_01]: If they hadn't advanced to the Super Bowl and two of those three, Zach, they would have been playing the Seattle Seahawks.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_01]: That was the O5 Jake Plummer lead Broncos.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_01]: They lose to Big Ben and the Steelers who go on to just basically handle the Seahawks.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_01]: The Broncos would have too that year as well.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_01]: They would have not picked the worst possible game to not play well.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_01]: And then, of course, last, well, a week ago, Sunday, Zach, missing out on the opportunity to go play this, the Seahawks.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_01]: So there could be an alternate universe somewhere out there where the Broncos and Seahawks met three times in the Super Bowl.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_03]: And hopefully in that universe, Boneyx is healthy.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_03]: With Boneyx, the Broncos could give Seattle a fight.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_03]: They could even win that game without Boneyx.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_03]: It would have been a major, major uphill battle with Stittam under center.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_01]: That's the one thing with Boneyx at home.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it was George Payton said something to this effect at the podium.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_01]: at his end of season press.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_01]: And that is you always feel like you have a chance.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_01]: Like even when you're trailing, Bonix gives you an opportunity to win.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_01]: And I think he's proven that since he entered the league again Taylor, thank you, buddy.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_01]: Since he's entered the league,
- 12:53[SPEAKER_01]: he is tied for the most fourth quarter comebacks among all NFL quarterbacks.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_01]: And to give him props, who is he tied with Caleb Williams of the Chicago Bears who had a fair number.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_01]: This most of his comebacks this season.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_03]: Now who gets the falling though between the two who gets the accolades and who gets the criticism?
- 13:13[SPEAKER_03]: That's my problem.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_03]: I think it should go both ways.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_03]: Both are tremendous quarterbacks.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_03]: And I'll include Drake May and they're all three have an
- 13:20[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I almost made a joke of it as I was writing up this bonus achievements article today.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_01]: I'm seeing all these records in this historical achievements that I'm putting together into one article and I'm going pretty good for a quarterback who's yet to even make a proble or get any kind of accolade right like he was in the conversation for offensive rookie of the year didn't win it.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_01]: He was an alternate for the Pro Bowl, 2024.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_01]: He was an alternate this year, if memory serves.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, it's just kind of ironic that he's been that prolific exact.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_01]: That product, if his team has been that successful and yet he doesn't get any love outside of Denver.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_03]: Because the pro ball, which they need to cancel, by the way, has quick aside.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_03]: It was the pro ball games were on last night.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_03]: And when you have Garrett Bowles catching touchdowns that were called back by penalty, they need to just cancel that already.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_03]: But the pro ball is all about name value and name recognition and bonus for whatever reason, lack that comparative is counterparts now because of the season that he had, combined with the injury.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_03]: I've noticed a lot of people have turned a sympathetic eye toward Bonesix that were in sympathetic before just because he got hurt.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_03]: Those things combined, going in at 2026 now, if he has a comparable season, I could see him getting a probe on an absolutely no.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_01]: guys much much more to get to but listen up first we got to talk about the fact Broncos Country that Valentine's Day is almost here how will you show yourself and those around you a little extra love whether it's for someone special or just yourself cozy earth makes it easy to bring comfort and care into your everyday life this Valentine's Day season we're offered a bogo pajama deal that you will not see any other time of year.

- 16:06[SPEAKER_01]: I thought I saw the tracking number shown that it was delivering today.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_01]: You'll have to confirm Mike Thompson.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's like Vance said, we aren't rebuilding.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_01]: We're reloading.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, some of those vansisms from back in Circa, Zack, 2017, 2018.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_01]: The Broncos, though, as far as rebuilding, like it's over, they did it in,
- 16:26[SPEAKER_01]: Lightning fast time going from, what was it in 2022's that was it five, yeah, five wins under Hackett.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_01]: Sean Peyton comes in with Russ improves that by three get eight wins.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_01]: If you win two games that you should have.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's a 10 win season and you're going to the playoffs and maybe even Russell Wilson could have survived longer on that contract, but I digress.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_01]: Then you win 10 games with the rookie bonyx, 14 games in 2025, the one seed, the F.C.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_01]: West Crown, a playoff game, advanced to the F.C.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_01]: title game, like they're there, Zach, like the Broncos doesn't mean that they don't stop or ever stop tweaking and the roster and looking for ways to improve, but the rebuild is officially in the books.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_03]: In Vance's time, you were reloading a water gun.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_03]: Now you're reloading a AK-47.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_03]: So it's all relevant.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_03]: If I agree, the Broncos aren't rebuilding, but there are necessary retoolings they can do to the roster, like help out Bonaix, for example, this offseason.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_01]: All right, we have a lady D checking in from the top road based on the notifications.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_01]: I'm guessing that we went live, we're going live an hour early because it's my son's, it's senior night for my son and his high school basketball team, and he's a senior.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_01]: So, events starting about halfway through when we would normally be podcasting.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 17:48[SPEAKER_01]: We don't want to skip our first, we're coming back on Wednesday's night.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_01]: So we went in our early, a lady D. We love you so much.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for the support and really helping us feel the love on our first show back on Wednesday's sense.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_01]: 2022.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_01]: So she says, Hi, Chad and Zach.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_01]: Unfortunately, I have Seattle winning.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_01]: Drake May isn't ready for the Super Bowl.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_01]: My opinion, I'm wondering about the offensive line.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_01]: We need a center receiver one, RB one, and every player for depth on the align.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_01]: I still don't understand why MIMS isn't resigned.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_01]: Hashtag MHH for life.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_01]: Well, Zach, on that last note of MIMS and getting resigned, that will happen when it does.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_01]: It'll happen sometime
- 18:34[SPEAKER_01]: beginning of August sometime in August.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_01]: That's my official prediction.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think they're going to make and play out as rookie year to kind of prove it or sorry, contract year to make improve it and then you know, sign them right before he hits free agency or something.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_01]: I think they'll get him signed and locked in because they still got to figure out how are we using them?
- 18:52[SPEAKER_01]: Are we going
- 18:54[SPEAKER_01]: asserted more in the offense as a legitimate threat and role player or is he going to kind of still be a fourth fifth string guy on in that respect because he's our punt returner I think the Broncos got to get smart on that start using him on offense, but I think he gets extended before the season.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_03]: Plus, they want to see how free agency and the draft shake out, like if they can get an upgrade at receiver, they want to see where MIMS fits into the calculus of all this because if they don't come away with a blue chipper, then MIMS would probably have more responsibility.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_03]: If they do come away with one or two, then MIMS will be, you know, relegated to being a fourth option.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_03]: So the process, Diana, is still way too early.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_03]: These things tend to get heated up at the combine and more toward free agency.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_03]: So we're almost there, but it's definitely still early.
- 19:39[UNKNOWN]: I'm
- 19:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, I'm with you on the receiver and running back, and I'm not even saying that the Broncos could not be better at center, but being that they just paid an extended Luke Wantenburg.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's pretty safe to assume that's their guy for at least the next two years.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_01]: But Zach, they have every opportunity to really upgrade the receiving core and the running back room.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_01]: whether it's free agency, the draft, a little bit of both, that's got to be the priority.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_01]: This year, like we, if you think back to the 2025 off-season Zack, it was, I mean, I don't know.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_01]: How many times I said it on this podcast?
- 20:14[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_01]: How many times I wrote it in articles and headlines, build the nest around Bonax?
- 20:20[SPEAKER_01]: Well, they did that to an extent, but like this is the time where it's really got to be like, bow, centric, some of these picks, or some of these off-season decisions I should say.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, Diana, I got your back shots right about Wattenberg, obviously, he's going to be the starter, but I agree with you that they need some, I said this on, I think it was last week's show a couple of shows ago.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_03]: There's a little more proven depth.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_03]: Someone that you can rely on that's going to push, uh, Wattenberg to be better than Alex Forsyth, who I don't believe is the best backup in the world.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_03]: So you have to prioritize offensive, excuse me, receiver running back tight end, but you can't ignore center, at least for a backup spot this off season.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_01]: weaponry.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_01]: You've got to add some more arrows to the quiver for Beau next lady.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_01]: Also gifting 20 memberships in the chat.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much lady D. We love you.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_01]: We appreciate you.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_01]: I see a lot of conversation too in the chat about Cortland Sutton Zach.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_01]: We brought him up of course because of what he said about everyone knows Broncos should be in the Super Bowl.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_01]: uh... but there's been a lot of discussion in the chat about his drop rate now this is something's act we've lamented not just with certain but the entire bronco receiving core with the exception of marvin mhm's all year long and uh... mr. producer dug up some numbers all right listen so here's here's the skinny on corlinson credited slash blamed with five drops in the regular season
- 21:46[SPEAKER_01]: his drop percentage according to pro football reference was 6.5% the league average was 4.4%.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_01]: So 154 players with at least 30 receptions he ranked 126.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_01]: So the five drops during the regular season was a lot and then he had eight total.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_01]: I'm assuming Scott counting the playoffs.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_01]: And then last thing here that Scott dug up for is there were 20,000 yard receivers.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_01]: his drop percentage ranked 17th ahead of Tet Mcmillan who was a rookie CD Lamb and Jamison Williams and the oldest of that group 26 years old.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_01]: So what makes it even worse is that here's the final dagger.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_01]: He had a 14.3 drop percentage rate in the playoff.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_01]: So he was bad.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_01]: When he says everyone knows the Broncos should be in the Super Bowl.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_01]: He could have made it a
- 22:43[SPEAKER_01]: the obstacles they were faced with in that title games act because I think at least two of those drops were in that game.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_03]: Well, the number of drops on its faces is disconcerting Chad, but it seemed like every one of those drops came and I've said this ad nauseam already at the most inopportune time, either in the end zone, on third down, in the red zone, the easiest pass is Corbin Sutton would drop and yet he'll come back and make the most ridiculous catches after that.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_03]: So this is what Sutton is and I've been saying this for at least two off seasons.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_03]: He's a high-end number two.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_03]: He's a low-end number one.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_03]: It's time to block those splurge and not nickel and dine bone nicks and get that true literacy of a one in the building.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_01]: Well said, lady, D, we love you so much.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_01]: Also to the Mount Rushmore superstars, expect your the t-shirts are on the way.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_01]: So let us know when you get those send us in picks.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_01]: Some of you, I'm sure we'll be getting them this week.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_01]: Some of them, some of you might be getting them over the weekend early next week, but Glenn,
- 23:43[SPEAKER_01]: In Australia, I'm going to read this off-screen, Glenn, good to see you, Palli, saying good morning, Chad Zackdick and Scott, and Broncos Country really looking forward to the off-season.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_01]: We are in a great position to add talent and the destination.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_01]: like 2015, I'm not sure what that was.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_01]: We can also increase our spending by redoing the Certainum and Glensheet contracts.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_01]: We can get another 10, 15 million throw the kitchen sink at getting Justin Jefferson.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_01]: We can redo his deal.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_01]: Pay huge signing bonus and extend him.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_01]: We go hard at Breeze Hall, Kyle Pitz, flex with a big sign on to reduce year on year, Super Bowl, 20, 27.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_01]: Some of it's maybe kind of madness, Zack, like you got to, in some respect, keep it within the realm of the feasible, but Glenn, you're not wrong.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_01]: The Broncos, in fact, Bob wrote this up at milehahoodle.com, Bob Morris.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_01]: He wrote up five different contracts.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_01]: The five most likely contracts that the Broncos could approach those veterans about restructures, to free up money.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_01]: And the thing to remember about restructures is,
- 24:56[SPEAKER_01]: You only want to do that with players with whom they have multiple years still left on their deal, yes, but because you're going to be converting stuff and kicking the can down the road with their contracts, Zach, you only want those to do that with players who you genuinely want and expect to be around another couple to three years.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's it is a little madness Glenn.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_03]: I like the way you're thinking about this because the Broncos should go all in the softsies and kind of like 2014.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_03]: I think that's what you were referencing, which indirectly led to 2015 in the Super Bowl, but they can't go cheap.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_03]: They can't wait until the second round of drafts are running back.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_03]: The third round of drafts are a receiver of the seventh round of drafts at tight end.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_03]: They got to spend some money and open up the purse strings and don't forget Sean Peyton comes from New Orleans.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_03]: That team has manipulated and finesse the salary cap like no other over the last decade and that's what the salary cap is it exists.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_03]: It's real, but it can be manipulated and the Broncos if they want and they should do it to help go get bone next more help.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_01]: So here's a few names well said my brother.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_01]: Here's a few names not a few names here are the five names.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_01]: Broncos could approach about restructuring.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_01]: Quinn minors.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_01]: then you get to Talonol who found it now.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_01]: Remember, restructuring you're doing that because these are your guys that are going to be here for a while.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_01]: And so you're you're converting.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_01]: Let me read this one little stretch stretch here.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_01]: Restructures a simple restructure converts base salary or roster bonus into a signing bonus.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_01]: The converted money is then pro-rated over the remaining years of the contract for cap purposes with void years added in some cases.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_01]: So again, this is what the fight these five players are players you expect the Broncos to expect to have around for a while.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_01]: So Quinn Miners, Talonohu Fanga, Jonathan Cooper,
- 26:47[SPEAKER_01]: You got DJ Jones and Mike Maglinti.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_01]: So you hit, you hit on Mike Maglinti there, Glenn.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_01]: So Kudos to you, Big Dog.
- 26:57[SPEAKER_01]: Definitely a possibility.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_01]: The Broncos have roughly Zach 20 million in effective cap space.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_01]: And then the NFL notified teams that, let's see, is it in this article?
- 27:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's bumping it to,
- 27:09[SPEAKER_01]: that the salary cap's going to be somewhere between 301.2 million and 305.7 million, which is awesome because it was initially estimated to be around 295 million.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_03]: Plus, I don't know if it went into effect yet, but they'll be roll over cap space from this season.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_03]: And obviously everyone knows that Russell Wilson's contracts is officially off the books.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_03]: And now the brokers have the richest ownership group in the NFL.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_03]: I know they can't just, you know, print money or imagine it.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_03]: But there are ways for them to free up cap space to go out and get players without damaging the long-term structure of the team.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_03]: And I expect the Bronco Ched to do just that be aggressive.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_01]: No doubt about it, guys.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_01]: Lots more that we are getting to tonight, but listen, Broncos Country, never before, as online privacy been more important.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_01]: That is where Surfshark comes in and it is an absolute gain changer.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_01]: Surfshark is a virtual private network.
- 28:03[SPEAKER_01]: which covers all of your online activity.
- 28:05[SPEAKER_01]: Using a VPN, it's kind of like wearing pants.
- 28:09[SPEAKER_01]: All the important stuff stays private and secure when you walk out your front door.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_01]: Once your device connects to the internet, all that info is encrypted, which keeps your online activity hidden from all the snoopers and all the trackers.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_03]: Guys, raise your hand if, like me, you've searched something kind of random, like prices on a broccoli's jersey, and next thing you know, you're getting jersey ads every time you open one of your social media apps or browse the web.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_03]: Thankfully, today's sponsor Surfshark VPN can help us get out of that.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_03]: A VPN allows me to mask my real IP address so that my online activity is no longer being tracked.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_01]: They also guys offer a surf shark alert and it is absolutely indispensable.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_01]: The only thing scarier than forgetting a password is finding out that a password has been leaked online somewhere.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_01]: The surf shark alert feature can help with this by constantly scanning the web for your personal deeds, whether it's things like your...
- 29:03[SPEAKER_01]: email address passwords, even credit card details, and it sends you an instant alert if any of them appear in a data breach can be a live saver.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_03]: So guys, take control of your online privacy and protect yourself.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_03]: It gets data breaches by signing up with Surfshark VPN.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_03]: It comes with a risk free 30 day money back guarantee.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_03]: Go to surfshark.com slash mile high or just go to surfshark.com and use our code mile high
- 29:33[SPEAKER_03]: Again, that's surfshark.com slash mile high with our code mile high and by the way, the URL and code can also be found in the shows description below.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_01]: All right guys, tonight we do have to keep it a little bit tighter because I've got some stuff as I mentioned that I got to get to so consider this kind of the two minute warning and of course we'll make it up to you guys tomorrow so anything burning topics questions getting in the chat Albert Noppers says trade Jonathan Cooper for Max Crosby from the Raiders.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, if it were only that easy, Zach, if it were only that easy.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_01]: But for the first time in a long time, Crosby may be available out there on the trade block.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_01]: The Raiders might be open to it.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, he's not coming to Denver, obviously, or hopefully any other team in the division, hopefully they trade him to the NFC and fingers crossed, the Broncos won't have to deal with Crosby that much longer.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_01]: We got Shannon Mills, another legendary, legendary, Mount Rushmore superstar, dear members saying, good evening.
- 30:33[SPEAKER_01]: Hoping the Broncos are smart, during free agency, and then draft well.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_01]: They did well with Hufanga last season, has there been any word on what the price for Breeze Hall or a Justin Jefferson would be?
- 30:48[SPEAKER_01]: Zack, you've spent a lot more time kind of looking at this stuff.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_01]: Hall Jefferson break it down for Shannon.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_03]: Well, halls of free agent and Jefferson's under contract.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_03]: So it's two different scenarios here.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_03]: I would assume a JJ to start with him.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_03]: They would want multiple first round picks or combination of higher round draft picks.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_03]: Whether the Broncos would go there after the Russell Wilson Sean Peyton trades.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_03]: We do not know although JJ to me would be worth it.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_03]: On top of that, there is his massive contract that comes in a play here.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_03]: I don't have it pulled up in front of me.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_03]: All I know is that the Vikings would take on an extraordinary amount of dead money if they did trade him.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_03]: They can restructure.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_03]: They can work something out, but there's the contract and then there's the compensation for the trade.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_03]: Breeze Hall.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_03]: I would assume considering how he played for the jets that he's going to get a multi-year deal.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_03]: not a one year prove it deal like a two year deal a little bit solid amount of guaranteed money but nothing bank breaking and that's the one guy at running back that I wouldn't I wouldn't I would hold on my draft picks and I pick him up because he's a better version of what you had in JK Dobbins.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_01]: And Breeze Hall is only 24 coming off his first thousand yard season, but he's gotten close in each of the preceding two seasons.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_01]: He got really, really close, but yeah, he got over a thousand.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_01]: four touchdowns, he's only 24 and he's about to hit free agency.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_01]: So he's he's the top guy for the Broncos at running back, but even if you went out Zach and signed, you managed to get Breeze Hall.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_01]: I'm still trying to bring back JK Dobbins, not just because of what he can do on the field as a player, but everything he brought to the team as a leader and all those intangibles man, the culture part,
- 32:32[SPEAKER_01]: of what Sean Peyton has built and needs to continue to keep it established and continue to cultivate.
- 32:37[SPEAKER_01]: That's JK Dobbins to a T.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_03]: I just don't know that you would need Dobbins, though, a few signed briefs all because anything Dobbins can do, Hall can do better.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_03]: He's also a better pass catcher.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_03]: And then it's kind of like Javonte H. They had him for a while, then he was a free agent and one of the brokers do.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_03]: They moved on and they signed Dobbins.
- 32:55[SPEAKER_03]: So if they strike out on brief, which is certainly a possibility, maybe his markets a lot higher, or maybe he resigns with the jets, we don't know.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_03]: Then I would look to bring in JK.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_03]: Regardless, they have to make one of those two moves.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, man.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_01]: I'm with you on I'm with you on Bree's Hall as a top target, but you look at his Yardsburg carry average compared to JK Dobbins.
- 33:17[SPEAKER_01]: He's under five.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_01]: He's at four and a half and not even quite four and a half, four point four yards per carry last year.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_01]: And Dobbins career is still, let me see, what was what was JK just while I'm at it real quick.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_01]: JK Dobbins average.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_01]: I know was over five last season.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_01]: He was at five exactly five exactly.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_01]: So
- 33:37[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, I think you could bring him back going, hey, we're not promising you a starting job.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to compete, regardless of who else is in the room, but Zach, on the subject of Justin Jefferson.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_01]: So here's the math on what I mean, forgetting what it would cost, draft pick-wise to get him.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_01]: He's got 72.2 million in dead money.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_01]: So minus 25 million for his base salary because whoever trades for him would definitely take that on, obviously.
- 34:06[SPEAKER_01]: So he basically come with 47 million dead.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_01]: Come around to that as something they believe is actually best for their team.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, this is all a pipe dream and like you said, the Vikings haven't even made Jefferson available.
- 34:21[SPEAKER_03]: This is like a fan creation, but if you don't want to go that high and then and that extreme Jalen Waddle for Miami, Garrett Wilson from the Jets, Drake London, Chris O'Lave, George Pickens is a free agent.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_03]: You wouldn't have to give up any draft picks, AJ Brown and Philadelphia, Alec Pierce is a free agent.
- 34:38[SPEAKER_03]: The point is there's so many options and routes the Broncos can go.
- 34:41[SPEAKER_03]: There is no excuse, not to come away with at least one of those
- 34:47[SPEAKER_01]: We've got an interesting question here from Jason, guys.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_01]: And he brings up its conversation.
- 34:53[SPEAKER_01]: We got guys like Roy and others.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_01]: Jordan bringing up David and Joku, past catching very good tight end.
- 35:01[SPEAKER_01]: Jason says rumors around a bound that Denver could pursue a tight end in free agency.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_01]: Broncos didn't utilize the tight end enough to warrant that basically, right?
- 35:12[SPEAKER_01]: And does the Davis Web promotion change that.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_01]: Evan Ingraham, Zach, finished third on the team and receiving, but it was still a disappointment relative to what we expected.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know if it was skiing.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if it's a bone next predilection where he just, it's not really where he looks read one read two.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_01]: It's usually like the third read if he gets that far.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_01]: What it makes sense to go hard after another pass catching tie-dend out there, especially considering that he's under contract, Evan Ingraham,
- 35:45[SPEAKER_03]: I wonder if it's England himself and I speculated about this during the season, but it looked like he's not what he once was that father time could be catching up to him.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_03]: When I watched him on film, he had tough time separating and he set up to the season, the expectations.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_03]: We're different than the reality, but yeah, they have to try to upgrade their no matter what they can't keep rolling in with Nate Adkins and Lucas Crawl and a lot of ticket with Evan Ingraham.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_03]: Fortunately, in the joke who's out there as mentioned, Kyle pits Isaiah likely K-Dotten from Tampa Bay.
- 36:15[SPEAKER_03]: There are many opportunities for the Broncos this offseason to like you say, build the Nest around Bonix.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_03]: Will they?
- 36:22[SPEAKER_03]: That's the million dollar question.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_01]: and some interesting options in the draft, but he looking at Evan Ingraham's contract guys, it's, I mean, you never say never because what they did with Russ, but he's got a $10.9 million base salary in 2026.
- 36:38[SPEAKER_01]: His total cap numbers, 14.1.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_01]: The Broncos, if they cut him as a pre-June first cut,
- 36:47[SPEAKER_01]: And if they did it as a post, they'd still incur $7.7 million.
- 36:55[SPEAKER_01]: So it's pretty safe to assume he's a Bronco this year.
- 36:59[SPEAKER_01]: But that does not mean you cannot work to improve the position.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_01]: And there's going to be plenty of opportunities to do that.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, Lady D. She says, welcome back to Wednesday podcast.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_01]: Hit the like button and have a great evening, everyone.
