- 1:10SPEAKER_01: Our guest is Roger Neal, the sports voice of the Southern Tier.
- 1:14SPEAKER_01: Welcome, Roger.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: Hey Tim, thank you very much.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: And as expected, another exciting week of high school football wrapping up last weekend and of course setting the stage for some big battles coming up this weekend.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: Let's take a brief look back, first of all, with um Susquehanna Valley losing for the first time in a lengthy part of a couple of seasons.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: They fell to Norwich 14-12, so very close.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: But how about Norwich now?
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: 3-0, as they are uh looking to keep their record perfect this upcoming weekend as well.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: The Forks roaring to a 48-0 win over Dryden, 554 yards gained in that game, and they were up 33-0 at the end of the half.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: Big time Forks football.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: How about Union and the Cott?
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: Boy, teams looking ahead to play them.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: They've got to be ducking for cover.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: Rocco Spinelli, 122 yards.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: Nick Lang, three touchdowns, 111 yards, and they rolled as they put up a ton of points against Binghamton, and uh they keep on rolling, but they are off to a tremendous start.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: And Binghamton now is um at 0-2.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: The Tigers winning 35-6 to go to 2-0.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: Binghamton has scored just 14 points so far this season, but a porous defense.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: They've given up 96 points in the early part of the game.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: How about Corning?
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: 2-0.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: They won beating Monroe Woodbury 28-12 last year, last uh weekend.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: And then horseheads coming up with a win over Elmira, 17-14 at overtime.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: Horseheads going to 2-0.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: So the stage set for this weekend, Susquehanna Valley looks to battle back off that loss to Norwich, and no easy test to do that.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: The Forks playing host to them.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: Both teams come in at 1-1, and Forks coming off their big win over Dryden.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: Horseheads, we mentioned 2-0.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: They match up against Maine Enwell, also 2-0.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: That should be a very interesting game as well.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: Also, Corning at Binghamton 2-0 versus 0-2, and Windsor at Norwich.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: Both teams are unbeaten going into the game, and so that should be another tremendous battle in section four.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: So as we're getting a little deeper into the season, some things are starting to shape up, but lots of teams right in the hunt looking for a key win this upcoming weekend, Tim.
- 3:31SPEAKER_01: Great job, Roger.
- 3:33SPEAKER_01: Appreciate that.
- 3:34SPEAKER_01: Uh, these are some of the uh rankings in New York State, and section four has got a real presence at the state level already going into week three.
- 3:44SPEAKER_01: For example, in double A, right now, Corning is ranked 20th, and Almira is honorable mention.
- 3:51SPEAKER_01: The class A, we have none that in section four that are actually ranked, but we do have a couple uh formidable teams that are uh honorable mentioned.
- 3:59SPEAKER_01: That's Horseheads High School and Union Endicot.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: Both of those programs are rolling right along.
- 4:04SPEAKER_01: So I expect to see them move up as well.
- 4:07SPEAKER_01: In uh the B classification, Maine Anwell is uh still at number one, and Windsor is now comes in at number 19.
- 4:15SPEAKER_01: In the C C classification, which is absolutely loaded with talent in section four, and as we've said in the past, a team that will make it out of section four C classification should do very well at the state level.
- 4:30SPEAKER_01: And in that C classification, Shenango Forks is ranked sixth, Norwich 11th, and Waverly 14th, with Oniana coming in as an honorable mention.
- 4:41SPEAKER_01: The D classification, Tyoga, number two, and Harpersville Afton, as a program that's really on the upswing, and they're they're at number 11, and Del Haig is in at 14 with Newark Valley honorable mention.
- 4:56SPEAKER_01: And in our biggest classification in Section Four, that's the eight player, Spencer Bennett and Cander, they're ranked number two, followed by Green at number seven.
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: And then there's three teams in the honorable mention that is Lansing, Newfield, and Trumansburg.
- 5:14SPEAKER_01: So from a state representation, Section Four is already uh making a mark and uh represented very well at the state level.
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: Thank you very much, Roger, for uh the the week three preview.
- 5:26SPEAKER_01: You always do a great job knocking that out of here.
- 5:29SPEAKER_01: Appreciate it.
- 5:29SPEAKER_01: And uh you take care.
