- 0:54It's been a great show. We've had a lot of great
- 0:57content. Stephen Baker was a sensational
- 1:00guest. We'll get him on again.
- 1:01I'm sure a lot of fans would love to hear more of his takes
- 1:04from the old giant days, but this guy has worked in
- 1:09professional sports for a while. He's been a big part of our show
- 1:13and he's back. Ladies and gentlemen, as we call
- 1:15this goodies bag of balls. My mom was going to wire a car
- 1:20battery on my testicles trying to put Tiger Bomb on this
- 1:22jungles Nuts Goodies bag of balls.
- 1:26That's how you become great man. Hang your.
- 1:28Balls out there. Yeah, because the word jizz is.
- 1:30Really nice. All right, I know we touched on
- 1:33this first subject a little bit last week, but the Penn State
- 1:38Stadium redevelopment and Adidas controversy.
- 1:41So Penn State is embarking on a $700 million reconstruction of
- 1:45the Beaver Stadium. The renovation will race stands
- 1:48by 30 feet, move them 100 feet closer to the field, replace the
- 1:52press box, and maintain a capacity above 100,000 seats.
- 1:55If completed as planned, it could become the largest stadium
- 1:58in the US by capacity. Around the same time, Penn State
- 2:03announced a new 10 year apparel deal with Adidas reporting
- 2:08reportedly worth around $300 million total in cash,
- 2:13merchandise, and NIL money. This also coincides with the
- 2:18firing of head coach James Franklin as triggered, which has
- 2:21triggered a bunch of controversy, especially because
- 2:25of his $49 million buyout and the rumors that Adidas
- 2:30influenced or supported the buyout financially.
- 2:34Penn State's trustees issued a statement defending the Adidas
- 2:37deal, calling some of the criticism false rumors in
- 2:40defending the negotiation process.
- 2:43But there was definitely tension between the stadium
- 2:45infrastructure versus the funding, the athletes and
- 2:48academics. What I want to know is, is it OK
- 2:51for companies such as Adidas or Nike or Under Armour to be able
- 3:00to to heavily influence a school into firing a coach or hiring a
- 3:05coach? You know, that's a good
- 3:07question. But if you guys watch the
- 3:08Cowboys documentary, that's exactly what Jerry Jones did
- 3:15with the Cowboys when the NFL did not want him to negotiate a
- 3:18deal with Nike. He brought Nike to the
- 3:20forefront. He negotiate his own deal.
- 3:22And he said, this is my team, I'm going to do what I want.
- 3:25You want to sue me, I'm going to sue you back.
- 3:27Yeah. I think it if it's, if they're
- 3:30capable of doing it and they're capable of making a move like
- 3:32this and they can bring in a $300 million contract, they're
- 3:36going to do it. And, and they're going to save
- 3:37themselves a lot of opportunities to dig into their
- 3:40own pockets for NIL deals and, and trying to pay under the
- 3:44table. This is a great move for Penn
- 3:46State. The only thing I could say about
- 3:48the firing of Franklin, absolutely this deal had
- 3:52something to do with Franklin's firing.
- 3:54They're not. In their eyes, they're not
- 3:56winning enough this year and they're building 1 of the
- 3:58biggest stadiums the NCAA has ever.
- 4:01It could be. It could be the biggest, yeah,
- 4:03it could be the biggest ever. I definitely believe that fans
- 4:07and obviously the the program did director in the what do they
- 4:12call that? No, no, but they call it like
- 4:15the, the list of guys, what do they call it the seats, what do
- 4:19they call panel? The panel of people that are
- 4:21sitting down at that panel in deciding and making these
- 4:24decisions are probably saying, listen, we can't, we can't go
- 4:27into another season with Franklin because we, we have an
- 4:31opportunity and we haven't, we, we're putting ourselves in this
- 4:34position to succeed in the future with the new stadium and,
- 4:37and new deals. So I I think it's if it's
- 4:40allowed, you should be able to do it.
- 4:42Yeah. Is it an overreach or is it a
- 4:44necessary investment? Necessary, necessary because
- 4:47obviously we talked about earlier, Franklin was kind of
- 4:49against that for a while up until last year.
- 4:51And again, they got a little more NIL production and
- 4:55obviously transfer portal, but they weren't evolving to get
- 4:58that big leap and they were still letting other schools,
- 5:00especially in their own conference get more of them.
- 5:02Ohio State had a record setting amount of NIL money last year,
- 5:05obviously winning a national championship.
- 5:06We saw Texas have a $60 million this year.
- 5:08So they're still kind of behind the curve in that regard.
- 5:11So if they're going to part ways with somebody like Franklin
- 5:13who's been a well respected coach, obviously hasn't won.
- 5:16So you could see the argument against that too.
- 5:17But this is another alternative incentive.
- 5:19Good. You're absolutely right.
- 5:21Kevin says, Kevin says they shouldn't, and he says on a
- 5:25college level they should not be allowed to.
- 5:27It's going to happen, though more often, Kevin, because
- 5:29there's a lot of these teams that have these brand deals
- 5:31already. Even before the NIL was this
- 5:33prevalent. Look at Michigan and Oklahoma
- 5:35with Air Jordan deals and stuff like that.
- 5:37And and and Oregon with Nike. How like was will Phil Knight be
- 5:41able to dictate who the next head coaches for Oregon?
- 5:44Absolutely, Absolutely. I think it's a little, which is
- 5:48a little crazy to me. I don't know if I don't think, I
- 5:51don't think the product that you wear should dictate who you hire
- 5:54as a coach. When it comes to money and now
- 5:56with the NIL deals, we knew this was going to happen.
- 5:59It's going to get worse before it gets better.
- 6:01And until the NCAA steps in and tries to figure out what can be
- 6:05done and what needs to be done to kind of control this, it's
- 6:10going to keep getting worse. And I believe it's going to get
- 6:12a lot worse. And for a program, too, that's
- 6:14already kind of established, you know, they don't want anything
- 6:16like Penn State. Maybe that's the next leap they
- 6:17need is just something to get a higher reputation when it comes
- 6:20to the big name five star like money recruits.
- 6:22That way it's an interesting story.
- 6:25Yeah, it's, it's, it's going to be, yeah, it's definitely going
- 6:27to be interesting to see how this plays out.
- 6:29But yeah, I'm, I'm wondering what, you know, like schools
- 6:35like Under Armour, Under Armour Peril and and more Adidas
- 6:38schools and more the Air Jordan schools, who like who's Jordan
- 6:42going to want to hire for those schools?
- 6:44Yeah, it's crazy if that's what it comes down to.
- 6:47Here's another thing up in hundreds of millions of dollars.
- 6:50Here's another thing for people to understand.
- 6:52If you remember in the 80s when a lot of these these basketball
- 6:56apparels, these these professional sneaker companies,
- 6:59and I don't know if you've seen Air, go check out that movie if
- 7:02you haven't. Fantastic.
- 7:03It's a fantastic movie and Ben Affleck's in it, Matt Damon's in
- 7:07it. It's a really, really good, a
- 7:09good, good story. And it's the story of the Air
- 7:12Jordans. If you remember that story, a
- 7:15lot of these, these organizations, Adidas, Converse
- 7:18and Nike, they were fighting for the best players and trying to
- 7:21bring them to their organization.
- 7:23Nike was on the bottom. They were the worst and.
- 7:27Yeah, Converse was a hot head of them.
- 7:29Yeah, because they had Magic Johnson and Larry Bird and what
- 7:32it took was Michael Jordan in the deal that they gave to
- 7:34Michael Jordan. That changed everything.
- 7:36That opened up the floodgates when it came to Nike, and Nike
- 7:39became the biggest sneaker company in the world.
- 7:43So yeah, it's all about bringing players in and bringing money in
- 7:47from NIL deals and making sure the best players are getting the
- 7:50best treatment. So I'm not surprised.
- 7:54Interesting. I see it from AI, see it from
- 7:56their perspective. I just think from like a
- 7:59governance perspective on college sports, it could get a
- 8:02little, it could get a little sketchy, but that's whatever.
- 8:08I guess money talks. All right, next one I got coming
- 8:10up, keeping it kind of in the football realm.
- 8:12This was kind of interesting to me.
- 8:13Maybe not for you, but NFLTV ratings have surged.
- 8:17They're the highest since 2010. Through week five of the 2025
- 8:21NFL season, the average viewership per game is 18.58
- 8:26million, which it blows my mind, up 8% from 2024.
- 8:31That's one of the highest mid season numbers since 2010 and
- 8:35week 1. The NFL average 22.3 million
- 8:38viewers per game. TV and digital platforms marking
- 8:42the highest opening week ever recorded.
- 8:45That's a 5% increase over the last year. the Super Bowl drew
- 8:51127.7 million viewers, making it one of the largest US telecast
- 8:56ever. What is going on?
- 8:59Is it real growth or is it is it inflated?
- 9:05Like what are we seeing here? Why is this viewership going
- 9:08through the roof right now for the NFLI Mean through with
- 9:12baseball in the playoffs, in the postseason?
- 9:14I talked about that last week a little bit.
- 9:17We can see that every game is high, intense.
- 9:21And now you and now you're adding a Toronto in a different
- 9:24country and and just all these other teams that haven't been in
- 9:28it and and forever the Dodgers have been in, but you got the
- 9:30Brewers, you got Seattle who's never been the World Series.
- 9:33You got Toronto. Who knows when's the last time
- 9:36they were in the World Series? I can't remember.
- 9:38And then you know, you're kind of your staples, the Dodgers.
- 9:40So I can see that. But like football every single
- 9:43week, we're just crushing the ratings here.
- 9:46Well, I know they, they, they did say that they added,
- 9:49they're, they're adding a little bit of debt like the way that
- 9:51they count the numbers is different, but I don't know.
- 9:56I think it has a lot to do with the international play.
- 9:58If you if you're looking at what they're doing, going to all
- 10:01different parts of the world, Brazil and England and Germany
- 10:05and Italy and they're having them all and they're they're
- 10:08bringing new fans to the table. There's more international
- 10:10players being drafted and being brought to the NFL, rugby
- 10:14players. And I think now you you have the
- 10:17European, European fans interested in the game of
- 10:19football. It's not football like we call
- 10:23they call football, but it's football, American football, as
- 10:25they call it American football. So I think that has a lot to do
- 10:29with it. Also, obviously it's the biggest
- 10:32sport here in America. It's a full contact sport.
- 10:35And at least that's what we believe it is.
- 10:37And that Rodger Goodell understands how to draw fans
- 10:41from other sports to watch their sport.
- 10:44And fantasy sports has changed everything.
- 10:47And what is the number one fantasy fantasy thing to play a
- 10:52fantasy sport to play out of all the fantasy sports?
- 10:55It's football. It's not even close.
- 10:57It's up like 60 something percent from all the other
- 11:00years. It's crazy.
- 11:01So I think fantasy, I think betting, sports betting is
- 11:05another reason why. So I, I think now it's become
- 11:08legalized in different States and different parts of different
- 11:11countries. I think it's opening up the
- 11:13floodgate for money. And that's why these people are
- 11:15watching it, because they have bets, they're playing part and
- 11:18they want to win money and they want to take care of their
- 11:20families. So I think that has a lot to do
- 11:22with it too. That's the main thing.
- 11:23I think for me, it's fantasy and betting.
- 11:25I think those are easily the biggest things because betting
- 11:27obviously has a much more wide range of outcomes.
- 11:30Also wide range of sites that can be used now that probably
- 11:34even three years ago weren't around or wasn't as prevalent in
- 11:37fantasy. Obviously there's like so many
- 11:39different types of leads you can play now too.
- 11:40The other thing too is probably technology.
- 11:42There's more accessibility with these games available.
- 11:44That's why I do believe you, goodie.
- 11:45I could see the NFL trying to inflate numbers because so this
- 11:48streaming service is here now this is going to pump up our
- 11:50numbers a little more. Yeah.
- 11:52And I also read that they're actually like front loading or
- 11:55they did front load the schedules this year to kind of
- 11:58gain momentum. Which cost football did too for
- 12:01a while and helped their growth attention.
- 12:04Yeah. Is that kind of, as I haven't
- 12:06been paying attention to the NFL too much, but is that pretty
- 12:11accurate? Are they front loading?
- 12:13Yes. They definitely did because they
- 12:14already had the Super Bowl rematch, which usually comes in
- 12:17later in the season if they had that kind of thing.
- 12:18The Bills, Ravens at the beginning.
- 12:20And honestly, this is probably the worst year of football.
- 12:22I mean, there's no dominant team right now in the NFL.
- 12:25Is there really a dominant team? There isn't.
- 12:28I mean, Kansas City, none of them, Chargers, all the teams
- 12:31that we thought were going to be, they were going to pull away
- 12:34from everybody. They're not, Baltimore was
- 12:36supposed. To be the Giants are pretty
- 12:37good, aren't they? Oh, stop, please stop.
- 12:40I don't expect it, but if they're not great, they're not
- 12:42good. Come.
- 12:43On I like watching. I have watched Scat run the
- 12:46football. He is fun and he's entertaining.
- 12:49I'm sure you you got fish, you know, like blasting in his
- 12:53pants, if you know what I mean. So.
- 12:55He's just got a little chub going on back there.
- 12:57He's definitely he's growing one.
- 12:59He's got a scatter Boo right in his pants.
- 13:02He's got a scatter booing, yeah. He's scatter booing.
- 13:06Yeah, scat, scat. That's funny.
- 13:09What do you call it? Skating.
- 13:10I know, but that guy can run a football.
- 13:11He's been fun to watch. So, you know, I don't know,
- 13:17Jackson Dart's been pretty cool too.
- 13:20Well, maybe they got something going on over there, I thought.
- 13:22I thought Pittsburgh doing pretty good as well.
- 13:25No, they stink. Thank you please.
- 13:27They stink. They stink.
- 13:28I, I, I don't know why anybody believes that Pittsburgh is
- 13:31going to do anything, even if they make the playoffs during a
- 13:33division right now that has injured quarterbacks.
- 13:37Joe Flacco is not even playing on the same team.
- 13:39He's playing on the same another team in the same division, the
- 13:42Bengals, who they lost Joe Burrow for a significant amount
- 13:45of time. Lamar Jackson's been out there
- 13:47in a crappy division. That's why Pittsburgh has a
- 13:49winning record. If they had if if Burrow was
- 13:52healthy and Lamar Jackson was healthy, I bet you they don't
- 13:56have more than two wins right now.
- 13:57Pittsburgh, they're not. They're not good.
- 13:59Still got to win with you know who you're playing.
- 14:01Still got to be who you're playing with, what you got.
- 14:03Stop being Owen. You're turning into Owen now.
- 14:06Now stop. It's just part of it.
- 14:09I know, I know. All right, last one I got here.
- 14:12This is the I. I just looked this up actually I
- 14:16haven't. I actually saw the video because
- 14:19it was deleted but thought it was pretty interesting because I
- 14:22have heard of these things. Not sure if they're real or not.
- 14:25Hope they are. But recently Donald Trump posted
- 14:28then deleted an AI generated video on true social promoting
- 14:32conspiracy theory around Med beds, which is a futuristic
- 14:36medical device said to cure nearly every ailment accessible
- 14:41via a Med bed card. The video purported to show a
- 14:47Fox News segment which obviously was fake.
- 14:50We don't know, but that's what they're saying with large Trump
- 14:54hosting saying every American would get access.
- 14:58The narrative comes from the Q Anon adjacent conspiracy circles
- 15:03where Med beds are alleged to be suppressed technology hidden by
- 15:07the elites. Now what is true and what is
- 15:11fake? The video is fake.
- 15:14It was AI generated. There's no evidence of the Med
- 15:18beds apparently or that any policy is being implemented to
- 15:22distribute them. That's what's we have what is
- 15:24what is false, but the truth is he did he did put this on his
- 15:29true social then delete it. So what do we got going on?
- 15:35Is this a misinformation or are we getting are are there they're
- 15:39medical devices that they're hiding from us?
- 15:41Listen, Kate sent me a video today, my wife about a hair
- 15:45transplant video. She said it was funny because
- 15:50I'm like. Why you need a hair transplant?
- 15:53I'm getting there. I'm getting there, I'm getting
- 15:57there. Get sketchy man.
- 15:58Get at it. Worries worrisome.
- 16:01I got it all on my face. It's all on my face and butt but
- 16:04not in my head. So it is what?
- 16:05I didn't know. I definitely don't want to look
- 16:07at your butt. I don't want to know how hairy
- 16:09your butt is. You did a nice butt plug from.
- 16:11Nathan, I was sitting there. I was, I was sitting in the I, I
- 16:14was sitting in the kitchen and I'm thinking like if they have
- 16:19devices, if they have the technology to send us to the
- 16:23moon and 3D print something. You're telling me we don't have,
- 16:28we don't have like a device that can grow your hair back.
- 16:33Come on. They're definitely not.
- 16:34They're just so sorry. Maybe.
- 16:36Not maybe not regular hair, but maybe artificial hair.
- 16:39Enough of that. But.
- 16:40Bro they're definitely hiding medical technology from us for
- 16:45sure. But what you're describing is
- 16:46more likely for like 300 years from now, I don't think for
- 16:48right now. You know, what's interesting
- 16:52about AI is AI is going to run the world.
- 16:55I don't even know if you're going to sit here today and
- 16:58tomorrow or even 10 years from now, you're going to say, hey,
- 17:01do we have to actually go to work?
- 17:04Because AI is going to do all the work for us.
- 17:07I mean, if you're, if you're, if you're a betting man, like let's
- 17:11say you want to make a valuable bet, eventually you're going to
- 17:14be able to go to AI and ask him what is the best bet to make on
- 17:18games. And it's going to give you
- 17:20percentages. And once that does that, it's
- 17:22going to give you the best chance to make money and sit
- 17:24home and not have to do anything.
- 17:25And I know a lot of people probably doing that, right?
- 17:28Now probably do that now, honestly.
- 17:30So. The the jobs that are going to
- 17:32be worth taking in the next 10 years are going to be trade
- 17:35jobs. Your plumber, your mechanic,
- 17:38your electrician, something like that.
- 17:41Because AI can't do that. They can answer a lot of
- 17:46questions, but they can't do that, which is crazy.
- 17:50Well, they're building robots and robots can so.
- 17:53And AI is gonna be controlling robots.
- 17:55So disagree on that one buddy. There are robots right now.
- 17:59There are robots dude. Elon.
- 18:02Musk. Elon Musk has a practically a
- 18:05human robot in his place that it doing doing things that other
- 18:10humans can't do so. Yeah, I've seen, I saw some
- 18:14videos about that. It was the Tron.
- 18:16There was like a Tesla bought out for the Tron deal, but I'm
- 18:23not sure. I'm not sure if I believe all
- 18:25that. They all started talking about
- 18:26having pilots as the robot pilots and all that.
- 18:29I'm not about that. No chance of my getting on an
- 18:32airplane without human freaking. I definitely want the human
- 18:35aboard involved. Definitely want the human
- 18:38element involved. I know that they have some like
- 18:41drones and stuff that do that, but there's a man, there's a
- 18:46human manual override there that can that can that takes place in
- 18:50case if something happens so. I, I want to tell you, you know,
- 18:56we got Kevin over here called Fish.
- 18:58He called him a scatter boner. That's what he called him.
- 19:01So a. Scatter boner.
- 19:03A scatter boner. That's what he called him.
- 19:05I I think he does have a boner. I don't know.
- 19:08What do you think, Speedy? I'm not going to this
- 19:10conversation. Oh no.
- 19:12Somebody's boning something. I mean, if there's somebody
- 19:15scatting or skeeting, maybe Coach Fish knows a little bit
- 19:19more than we do when it comes to that stuff.
- 19:21Ladies and gentlemen, that was goodies big.
- 19:23This is just a hit piece on someone who likes their running
- 19:27back. Oh me, what do you?
- 19:31Mean I like your running back. No, Errol, not you.
- 19:34I like your running back. I think he's great.
- 19:36He just wants. Everyone to feel as bad as a
- 19:38Jets fan feels right. Now really, I don't feel bad as
- 19:41a Jets fan at all. Yeah, because you have a second
- 19:43team that just lost. To the No, that's not why,
- 19:46because that's a Jets fan. I knew this was going to happen.
- 19:49They're in almost every Oh, and six, though.
- 19:51Yeah, yeah. Oh, and six.
- 19:52I told you they were going to probably win three to four games
- 19:56and they were going to be in every single game and there have
- 19:59been practically every single one except.
- 20:01Except the Buffalo Bills game. And I expect them to.
- 20:04I'll be. They'll be lucky to win two
- 20:06games. I think The Jets realize now
- 20:08that this is this is going to be a lost season.
- 20:11Just remember what Dan Campbell's first season was with
- 20:14the Lions. He knew what the team was and
- 20:17what the roster was and he needed to figure out how he was
- 20:20going to sort out that roster. I think Aaron Glenn knows that
- 20:22as well. I think Aaron Glenn's going to
- 20:24be fine. I think that team's fine.
- 20:26They got a lot of talent on that roster.
- 20:28So to sit there and say, well, I'm mad about the no, I'm not
- 20:31mad about The Jets. I'm fine, We did.
- 20:33The roster is if you're going to compare rosters right now.
- 20:36All right, so you're not mad about The Jets, you're just
- 20:39intentionally being a Dick about the guy?
- 20:40Absolutely giants. No, I'm I'm not being a Dick.
- 20:43I just think you're out of your monitor.
- 20:44He's got a Boo so. No.
- 20:45What do you mean he's doing great?
- 20:48Good. He's objectively doing great.
- 20:49Great. OK.
- 20:50All right, All right, Ladies and gentlemen, we're called this
- 20:53Dial it up. We interrupt this regularly
- 20:56scheduled hot mix to bring an important news book.
- 20:58We got a big broadcast to do here.
- 21:01We we're about to dial it up. As long as she's using.
- 21:05Dude wipes and taking care of my 2 hole.
- 21:06I'm good. That's the best clip ever.
- 21:10That's one of the best sound bites, guys.
- 21:12Welcome back to dial up everyone's favorite Lightning
- 21:15Round stories. Errol hasn't heard these yet.
- 21:18He's going to have to react to them in real time and then we'll
- 21:21go back and forth to them. The first one here, Padres
- 21:24manager Mike Schilt, retires. He retired according to the
- 21:28severe toll of the job. He's only 57 years old.
- 21:33He informed the team that he would retire nine days after the
- 21:37Padres were eliminated by the Cubs in the Wild Card Series.
- 21:40While it has always been about serving others, it's time I take
- 21:44care of myself and exit on my terms.
- 21:47I gave every fiber of my being to help achieve Peter Seidler's
- 21:50vision of bringing a World Series championship to San
- 21:53Diego. We fell short of the ultimate
- 21:55goal, but I am proud of what the players, staff and organization
- 21:59were able to do accomplish these last two seasons.
- 22:02We would like to congratulate Mike on a successful here and
- 22:04thank him for his significant contributions to the Padres and
- 22:07the San Diego community over the last four years.
- 22:09Padres general manager AJ Preler the Padres now join Listen to
- 22:14all this huge list and Texas already got their coach Angels,
- 22:18Braves, Orioles, Twins, Giants, Nationals and Rockies as teams
- 22:24with managerial openings for 2026.
- 22:28Errol. Dial it all.
- 22:32You know, it's so funny when you look at the Padres and what the
- 22:34Padres accomplishments have been over the last couple of years.
- 22:38They've been a very good roster. They've been a very good team
- 22:41and and I I would say a decent organization.
- 22:43They like to trade away good young prospects.
- 22:46But All in all, this team has been a good team.
- 22:50And the fact that you're hearing that the coach of the manager is
- 22:52walking away because of his health problems, I think there's
- 22:55a little bit more in involved in this.
- 22:58Obviously, there might be a player situation.
- 23:00Maybe there's something behind the scenes that is going on that
- 23:04he doesn't want to come out and maybe he's not getting along
- 23:07with the GM. Maybe he's not getting along
- 23:09with the executives over there. Because I bet you any amount of
- 23:12money that in a year from now, that guy Shilt, he's going to
- 23:16have another job right now. He'll get another job in the
- 23:18MLB. He's not 57 years old.
- 23:21He's just going to walk away from baseball.
- 23:23Doesn't make any sense. I expect him to have another job
- 23:26and get another job. I just think there's something
- 23:29more behind the scenes that he really doesn't want to bring up
- 23:33or he doesn't want to put or throw under, you know, throw in
- 23:36a situation where it's going to hurt a player or hurt the roster
- 23:40of the team. So I I think that's probably why
- 23:42he walked away. Interesting.
- 23:46Now congratulations on a on a good career.
- 23:50It was tough for them to try and be Big Brother Dodgers over
- 23:52there. So maybe he's trying to retire
- 23:57like you said, maybe take a couple a year off or a couple
- 24:01months off or so. However long it's going to be,
- 24:03walk away from it, get out of that division and go to another
- 24:08division where one where he doesn't have to face the
- 24:10Dodgers. But I I would probably agrees
- 24:14with what you said. There's probably definitely
- 24:16something going on behind the scenes.
- 24:18Maybe he's not making all the calls in game, which seems to be
- 24:21kind of the going theme around the MLB where the front office
- 24:25is more heavily involved in the game to game, you know, the game
- 24:27time decision. So maybe he wants to go to an
- 24:30organization where he feels like he can be in charge fully.
- 24:33But nonetheless, listen, the Padres went all in like they go
- 24:40in all in every year and just find up falling short.
- 24:43I think they traded away like 20 of their prospects this year,
- 24:47which is unreal and just still couldn't get over the hump.
- 24:49So maybe we're all it's all speculation, right?
- 24:54It's all speculation, but. You got to speculate and also if
- 24:58you if, if you know anything about that roster, Machado, how
- 25:00many times have we seen fighting in the dugout with Machado and
- 25:03all the other players that's been arguing He was there for
- 25:06all of it. So I, I mean, obviously there
- 25:09might be something going on, you know, in the locker rooms that
- 25:13he, again, he's a professional and he just doesn't want to
- 25:16throw anybody under the bus and he'd rather just walk away and
- 25:19step down and retire as he claims retiring.
- 25:22As Bochy said, he's retiring again.
- 25:24The job is the job is very stressful.
- 25:27Of course it is a stressful gig. Like not people.
- 25:30It's you're one of your First off, you're 1 of 30 in the
- 25:32world, right? It's very highly sought after
- 25:35gig and you have a ton of pressure like San Diego,
- 25:39probably it's, it's definitely pressure and filled environment,
- 25:43but probably not as much as like New York.
- 25:45For sure. The hardest job probably in the
- 25:47world in professional sports is being the manager of the GM of
- 25:51the New York Yankees. Now it's, it's all relative, but
- 25:55being, being a manager in the major leagues, you're expected
- 25:58to win. Like that's your livelihood.
- 26:00And if you can't win, then your next paycheck's not guaranteed.
- 26:03You know, so it's like, and, and not only that you're, you've
- 26:07given a, you've been given the keys and they've done every
- 26:09single thing that they could do to help you win a World Series
- 26:12and you've just fallen short the last few years.
- 26:15So like I said, like it, it's, it seemed like it would be an
- 26:20easy job. It's not an easy job.
- 26:23It's not life or death. You know, we're not going, we're
- 26:25not making crazy decisions, but in, in his life, in his realm,
- 26:30it is life or death because that's how he feeds his family.
- 26:32So it's like maybe he's just stressed out and he's like, you
- 26:34know what, I'll take a coordinator role where I can go
- 26:36home, see my family every night and, and be happy that way.
- 26:40So nonetheless, I wish him nothing but success and his
- 26:46future endeavors. All right, let's move on to the
- 26:50next story. Let's go to football.
- 26:53Yeah, that's Mike Tomlin, and he had some interesting comments
- 26:57about the Browns trading Joe Flacco within the division.
- 27:02He openly questioned the logic of the decision.
- 27:05AFC North division rival Cleveland Browns and GM Andrew
- 27:08Berry for trading Joe Flacco within the division to the
- 27:11Bengals. To be honest, it was shocking to
- 27:13me, Tomlin said on Monday. Andrew Berry must be a lot
- 27:16smarter than me or us because it doesn't make sense to me to
- 27:20trade a quarterback that you think enough of to make your
- 27:23opening day starter to a division opponent that's hurting
- 27:26in that area. But that's just my personal
- 27:29feelings. It's certainly made sense from
- 27:31Cincinnati's perspective, Tomlin said.
- 27:33He can throw the football. He's always been able to throw
- 27:36the football. Arm strength, arm accuracy,
- 27:39anticipatory passer, fluid movement through progressions.
- 27:42That's always been his game. The Steelers, who beat the
- 27:45Browns 23 nine on Sunday, face Flacco in the Bengals Thursday
- 27:49night to kick off Week 7. Errol, dial it up.
- 27:55Why is Mike Tomlin bitching about Joe Flacco going to the
- 28:01Bengals? It's Joe Flacco, It's old man
- 28:04Joe three years ago sitting on his parents sofa when he gets a
- 28:08call from the Texans. Okay, it's ridiculous.
- 28:11This is so redundantly stupid. I I'm not it's not going to
- 28:15change anything for the Bengals. The Bengals aren't making the
- 28:17playoffs unless Joe Burrow comes back.
- 28:20It's only going to help Jamar Chase and Higgins numbers.
- 28:23That was why they brought him in.
- 28:24They don't want to piss off Jamar Chase and Higgins after
- 28:27get them getting their big contract and it only helps their
- 28:30thought on maybe keeping their coach for one more year in
- 28:34Taylor. I I don't think it's a big deal.
- 28:36It's it's not like it's a superstar quarterback.
- 28:39We've seen this before. This is the first time this has
- 28:41happened. I mean, we've seen quarterbacks
- 28:44get traded in the same division. So again, you look at it, you
- 28:48wonder why Mike Tomlin came out and said that maybe he was just
- 28:52trying to, you know, dig it in, dig a knife in to the Browns
- 28:55organization because he thinks they're laughing stock.
- 28:58But guess what? What are the what are the
- 29:00Pittsburgh Steelers doing right now in some of their situations?
- 29:04How about their corner position right now, besides Ramsey on the
- 29:07secondary corner positions that they could, they could use a
- 29:10little bit of help and the safety position, because they
- 29:12decided to part ways with Fitzpatrick, they haven't really
- 29:16filled in those spots to help out their deficiencies on the
- 29:18defensive side of the ball. So and hey, if the Browns were
- 29:22willing to give you a, a safety on that team, on their team that
- 29:26was a former pro ball player or 1/4 that was a former pro ball
- 29:30player, you won't be bitching and moaning about that, would
- 29:32you? So stop.
- 29:34Stop crying. I get the the I get him being
- 29:39animated about it, but one thing that I don't understand is this
- 29:42common of him saying that you're got the guy you decided to make
- 29:45your starting quarterback week one.
- 29:47We knew after week one it was going to be, it was only a
- 29:49matter of time. Joe Flacco was going to
- 29:51eventually play the bench and let either Dylan Gabriel or
- 29:54Shadora Sanders actually touch the field.
- 29:57On the other hand, though, it's Joe Flacco.
- 29:59We're not talking about someone like Justin Fields who's getting
- 30:02his chance with The Jets this year.
- 30:03We're talking about a guy like you said, Earl.
- 30:05He was sitting on his couch. Done Done with with football
- 30:09football, he he won won his his he he did did his his dues dues,
- 30:11he he did did everything everything he he needed needed
- 30:12to to do do, won won his his Super Super Bowl Bowl with with
- 30:13the the with with the the Ravens Ravens and and whatnot whatnot.
- 30:15and now it's obvious that the Browns I mean look the way I see
- 30:19it Andrew Berry if he's going to make a trade that can benefit
- 30:22his team and get rid of old Joe Flacco which like we all said we
- 30:25knew he wasn't going to be on the on the field the entire
- 30:28season come on Come on, did we all believe Joe Flacco was going
- 30:30to play 17 games this season? Of course not.
- 30:33So I don't understand taking shots at the Browns when the
- 30:36Browns are being smart and getting rid of them and the
- 30:38Bengals are being smart in a sense of we need a quarterback
- 30:40for right this second. Now, of course, it'll end up
- 30:42working out well for the Bengals yesterday and their game against
- 30:45the Packers, but I don't know, his comments don't make a lot of
- 30:47sense. All right, let's go from
- 30:50football to basketball. Yes, you might be seeing Triple
- 30:56Arrow. The Bucks sign the 3rd and Teda
- 31:01Kumpo brother. Yes, they've agreed to a two way
- 31:05contract with Alex and Teda Kumpo.
- 31:08According to ESPN Shamsarania. Alex joins his brothers
- 31:12Thanassis and perennial All NBA forward Giannis in Milwaukee,
- 31:17the first time an NBA team has had three brothers under
- 31:20contract at the same time. The likely reason for the
- 31:24acquisition has more to do with Giannis staying with the Bucks
- 31:27then Alex's G League stats where he has averaged 58 points and
- 31:32three rebounds a game since 2022 in 50 appearances.
- 31:36The Knicks appear to be likely suitors for Giannis and a
- 31:41destination at the trade deadline.
- 31:44If the Bucs family ties ploy doesn't pay off, is Giannis
- 31:50possibly on his way to New York? Errol, dial it up.
- 31:56Absolutely. I don't think it matters.
- 31:58He can. They can.
- 31:59They can bring in his mother, his his cousin, his sister, his
- 32:04aunt and uncle on the roster. It's not going to stop the New
- 32:07York Knicks and it's not going to stop Giannis trying to go for
- 32:10a second championship. This is a guy that should have
- 32:13won two championships already on a Milwaukee Bucks team that at
- 32:16one point was the best team in Eastern Conference for three
- 32:19years straight. And the fact that they have only
- 32:22one one makes it shameless and shameful.
- 32:25I will say this, I understand what the Bucks are trying to do.
- 32:29They're trying to make Giannis happy.
- 32:30They're trying to put a put themselves in a good position to
- 32:33keep him. I don't think anything's going
- 32:35to change his mind going into the trade deadline when he knows
- 32:38that he can go to the Knicks and and make that team a contender,
- 32:42A contender that they haven't been since the 90, the 94 New
- 32:45York Knicks, the 93 New York Knicks.
- 32:48So I don't think it's going to change anything.
- 32:50I think obviously they're just trying to put a smile on Giannis
- 32:54face before the season starts. This team is going to be really,
- 32:57really bad. This is an older team that has a
- 33:01superstar player that realizes there is no secondary offense.
- 33:06I don't even know who his brother is.
- 33:07Who the hell is he? So he won a championship with
- 33:11the Lakers, and he barely played.
- 33:14That's true. And it's his.
- 33:15It's his other brother. They're trying everything to
- 33:18keep him there. Who, by the way, was drafted by
- 33:20the New York Knicks, by the way. The Nasus.
- 33:23Yeah, the Knicks always seem to get the wrong brother.
- 33:25It's like getting the Frank Stallone instead of Sylvester
- 33:28Stallone to be in your movie back in the 70s was the old
- 33:31joke. Cole Anthony is playing point
- 33:34guard for them. Miles Turner was the big
- 33:36offseason acquisition at center is kind of like the last piece
- 33:40you would add, not a foundational piece.
- 33:43They got Kevin Porter Junior. They got, you know, Bobby Portis
- 33:49is still there. Gary Trent is there.
- 33:52I mean, look, Bobby Portis is fine, but does this sound like a
- 33:56roster that's going anywhere outside of Giannis?
- 33:59Like, if they don't have Giannis, this team bottoms out
- 34:02and gets lottery picks. And if they have Giannis, maybe
- 34:06he's good enough to carry them to 46 to 50 wins because he's
- 34:10Giannis. But are you really going
- 34:13anywhere after that? I think they already found out
- 34:15they're not. They had to do the stretch
- 34:17provision to get rid of Damian Lillard contract because that
- 34:21was their all in move that failed.
- 34:24They lost on that move and now what do you do in the after
- 34:28effects? Do you blow it all up?
- 34:30Middletons already gone. He's the last guy there from
- 34:34that team that won the title. Is it really even worth keeping
- 34:38it together? You have to make that decision.
- 34:40You're not getting anything for Bobby Portis.
- 34:42Maybe you'll get, you know, I guess a late first round pick if
- 34:45you're lucky for a guy like that.
- 34:47Giannis is the only thing that's going to bring back anything
- 34:49valuable to help you rebuild for the future.
- 34:53Send him, his two brothers and whatever else makes the
- 34:56contracts work to New York to set yourself up with some of
- 34:59their younger pieces and picks. Let's go, Knicks.
- 35:02And also I will say this, the New York Knicks can send three
- 35:05guys over there to Milwaukee and automatically probably makes
- 35:08them a playoff team if they send OG, Robinson McBride and
- 35:14somebody, you know, somebody else on that roster and two
- 35:17first round draft picks. You're practically A borderline
- 35:20playoff team with the players that you have on that roster.
- 35:22So I, I, I think that's the way the Milwaukee Bucks should look
- 35:26at it. Yeah, you're not going to beat
- 35:27the Knicks. You're not going to be able to
- 35:29compete with the other teams in it, you know, that are a little
- 35:31bit better than you, a little bit younger than you, but you
- 35:33still have players that you can move in the offseason to build
- 35:36when it comes to draft picks. So they're they got to rebuild.
- 35:39Giannis is is not going to be there for the.
- 35:42So if you're the Bucks, who do you ask for from the Knicks?
- 35:45I. Already told you I I'm going,
- 35:47I'm going OG, I'm going Robinson, I'm going to first
- 35:52round draft picks, maybe 3. McBride and Clarkson are the kid
- 35:57that they got from the 76ers. I think that will get the the
- 36:00deal done. So I if I'm the Knicks, I'm OK
- 36:04with that deal because, and we talked about this off the air,
- 36:07Robinson and is not a guy who stays healthy when he's out
- 36:11there. He looks great, man.
- 36:12I love watching him when he plays.
- 36:15But he has yet to really get through a season fully healthy.
- 36:18And big guys don't age well. That's just a fact about big
- 36:22guys. So I would be willing to move
- 36:25him before some of the other guys And OG, who is fantastic.
- 36:29Everyone loves OG Ananobi. He's a great player.
- 36:33This is the healthiest he's ever been, right?
- 36:36You don't want to like assume he's going to be able to play
- 36:39every game again or close to it every year because he's never
- 36:42done that before. Mikhail Bridges on the other
- 36:45hand, that guy plays 82 games every year.
- 36:49So if it's me, even if OG maybe is slightly a little bit better
- 36:52than than Bridges, I think you keep Bridges because, you know,
- 36:56you can depend on that guy going forwards and you try to, you
- 36:59know, sell high on guys that have, you know, inconsistent
- 37:03health coming off of healthy years.
- 37:05I think it's just a smart thing to do.
- 37:06If they do it, hopefully, you know, they're not going to be
- 37:08able to make some of these moves until December when the contract
- 37:11extensions. You know, the NBA has that rule
- 37:13is like a certain amount of days you have to wait.
- 37:16If they get to that December point and OG is playing well and
- 37:18he's healthy, I think they got to look long and hard at that
- 37:21move. And as a Knicks fan, it's very
- 37:23exciting. Very, very exciting 'cause I
- 37:26think if they get Yannis and they have a three guy rotation
- 37:30with Towns now being like the stretch, you know, stretch four
- 37:33with Giannis playing inside and covering up for his, you know,
- 37:36laziness perhaps and rotations on defense and then Brunson
- 37:39still dominating out there and you just get a couple of guys
- 37:43around him like Bridges still there.
- 37:45I mean, that's that's a lot. Even if it's not hard, if they
- 37:47have to include hard in the deal, they still have a ton of
- 37:49guys and I don't think they're going to have to.
- 37:52I don't think they would have to do it.
- 37:53I don't think they would have to.
- 37:55That's really nice. If I'm a Knicks fan, and I am,
- 37:58that would be very, very nice for this possible down year in
- 38:03the Eastern Conference. We got one last story here for
- 38:06dial it up and we're going to go to some puck.
- 38:11This is the Calder Trophy winner from last season, Lane Hudson.
- 38:18Eight years, $70.8 million contract with the Canadians.
- 38:24They locked him up. He was a second round pick in
- 38:262022, played in Boston University, was fantastic.
- 38:31He now joins Noah Dobson, Nick Suzuki, call Caulfield, Gerard
- 38:36Slavsky, who I definitely pronounced incorrectly, and
- 38:39Caden Gully on long term deals. Think Gully was 60.
- 38:42Everyone else was eight years. They're setting themselves up
- 38:45for the future. Listen to this In his rookie
- 38:47season, 6 goals and 60 assists from the rookie defenseman,
- 38:52which was the most ever in NHL history for a rookie.
- 38:56He became the 4th defenseman ever to lead rookies in scoring,
- 39:00joining only Bobby Orr, Brian Leach and Quinn Hughes.
- 39:07Errol, dial it up. Well, they brought in Noah
- 39:12Dobson, they made a trade, they gave up two first round draft
- 39:14picks. Now they have a 1-2 punch with
- 39:16those two guys. Luke is a sensational player.
- 39:20I, I could see what they're doing.
- 39:21They're trying to build around the back end of their back end
- 39:25on the ice. I like that that they're doing
- 39:27that. They they have a good young
- 39:28goalie. They actually have two good
- 39:30young goalies, one in their farm system.
- 39:32I I think the Canadians are set up very, very well and they have
- 39:35a very good, good coach that understands hockey.
- 39:38He's been around hockey for a very, very long one time AGM
- 39:42that has really slowly but surely built this team from the
- 39:46from the farm system and and, and drafting the right players
- 39:49to fit and they've traded away the older players.
- 39:52This is one of the youngest teams in the NHLI like this
- 39:55move. You're paying young guys because
- 39:57you believe they're the future of your organization.
- 39:59This is an organization that's dreaming for another Stanley Cup
- 40:04and hopefully. This could change everything for
- 40:06Yeah, you're right. They've gone to the young
- 40:09approach all at once after they went through many different
- 40:11veteran approaches that did not work at all, bringing a lot of
- 40:13these flashy names to find forwards to go alongside Carrie
- 40:16Price for a while, that did not work out at all.
- 40:18They did the opposite now rebuilding through some good
- 40:20trades. Nick Suzuki, who they got when
- 40:21they traded Max Patcher ready to Vegas, has turned into a really
- 40:24nice pair player. Patrick a lot a good veteran
- 40:26leader on that team. And he's still only 27 years
- 40:28old, too. And it's kind of like the Braves
- 40:30model with hockey, like you're trying to pay these players
- 40:32earlier. So Zoloski was the first overall
- 40:34pick. Lane Hudson was a tremendous
- 40:37young defenseman last year and he's better defensively.
- 40:38A lot of people were saying the Luke Hughes contract the Devils
- 40:41gave them was going to rig the market for a while, but I think
- 40:44Hudson last year defensively was better than Hughes was.
- 40:46You mentioned Dobson, which I agreed with at the time was
- 40:48probably a little bit of an overpay unless he can try to
- 40:50improve on defense, but if he gets the potential there, he's
- 40:52right over there. Who's better than both of those
- 40:55guys offensively on the same line?
- 40:57That's probably the best the, you know, first line defense in
- 41:01the NHL. And they're both fairly very
- 41:04young. Hudson is how how old is he?
- 41:06Lane is going to be 24 and, and, and, and Dobson's 24.
- 41:13They're both 24 years old. They're kids.
- 41:15And again, both tremendous passers.
- 41:16They both space the ice very well.
- 41:18And again, he's a better skater as a defensive guy too, to go
- 41:20along with that and go along with a pretty deep offensive. 21
- 41:24for Hudson, by the way, 21 years old.
- 41:26Dobson is 24. OK, so and then you go along
- 41:29with guys like I said, Suzuki, Caulfield, Cole Caulfield's a
- 41:32very good young one too. That was very good for them when
- 41:34they made the Cup three years ago in the short season.
- 41:36So this is a really good foundation.
- 41:37We were talking about all the young teams that broke out last
- 41:39year with Ottawa at the end of the year, and Montreal was
- 41:43another one too. When all these other veteran
- 41:44teams like the Rangers struggle. This is a dark horse for
- 41:47Montreal this year, I think. Be like second or third in the
- 41:48division, sure. And guys, that has been another
- 41:52episode of. Dial it up.
- 41:55I have been very impressed with the Pittsburgh Pittsburgh
- 41:59Penguins early this season. I could say that there, a lot of
- 42:02the young players that they drafted and they've moved around
- 42:06in their farm system have worked out for them.
- 42:09Does Sidney Crosby ask for a trade at the trade deadline?
- 42:11Does he stay a Pittsburgh Penguin for the rest of his
- 42:14career? That that that's a question that
- 42:17I can only ask guys like Mario Lemieux because he probably only
- 42:21knows the answer to it so well. The team he wanted to be traded
- 42:24to, if he was going to be traded to was Montreal.
- 42:26So it's funny we brought that up.
- 42:27Yeah. And a lot these young pieces to
- 42:29do it. Montreal is a good young team
- 42:31and they're dangerous and they got 2 good young goaltenders in
- 42:35there, one in there right now and one in their farm system.
- 42:38One of them I think is one of the top, top 3 prospect
- 42:42goaltenders in all of hockey. So it's ridiculous.
- 42:46They're they're set up very, very well and I I think they're
- 42:49dangerous. I think they're going to be
- 42:50very, very dangerous. I'm waiting for the drop for
- 42:53this. I'm still waiting for the drop,
- 42:55but I did make sure that we should have it by next week.
- 42:58We call this call your shot, speedy.
- 43:02You want to call your shot? You want me to go first?
- 43:05Well, you got to call something. You want me to take a shot?
- 43:09You want to take a shot on who? What a shot of what?
- 43:13Shot of whiskey? No, Java's not here.
- 43:15I can't do that, Sam. Well, Java doesn't drink like
- 43:17that anymore. Yeah, but he still owns a
- 43:19restaurant called American Whiskey.
- 43:20So I can't do that, Sam. Well, will you give you?
- 43:22Would you give him your American whiskey?
- 43:25What would you give? I don't have American whiskey.
- 43:28Well, you have to give him your American whiskey.
- 43:30I don't. What do you got?
- 43:31Canadian whiskey. I don't possess any right now.
- 43:35Oh, so you've lost all the whiskey in it?
- 43:37I don't have any. I figured you don't have any.
- 43:40It's a little lost, right? Maybe we need to.
- 43:42It was never there. You can't lose something.
- 43:44You never have. I mean, Goody might be.
- 43:49Goody might be able to. Maybe he imagined something was
- 43:52there and then lost it as part of.
- 43:53Well, you want conspiracy. Do you want it?
- 43:55Do you want Goody to look for your American whiskey?
- 43:57I've done that. I've done.
- 43:58I've done that plenty of times bro.
- 44:00Do you want do you want goodies? He can look for his own whiskey.
- 44:03So you he found his whiskey, but OK, so then you can enjoy that.
- 44:06Don't waste time searching for someone else's problem.
- 44:12For our call your shot, everyone's going to make a a
- 44:16you. Know a prediction?
- 44:19All right, Speedy, I'll go first.
- 44:20All right, this one's for you, bro.
- 44:22My prediction for the 2026 MLB season is that the New York Mets
- 44:29will bounce back from their disappointing 2025 collapse and
- 44:36secure a spot in the postseason. I think they keep, I think they
- 44:43re sign Alonso and I think they bolster their rotation and their
- 44:48pen. I think Stevie Cohen is going to
- 44:51be aggressive in spending again in this offseason and I think
- 44:58they have a really good chance. They know what they sadly, they
- 45:05know what it feels like to be at the top and then fall very far
- 45:08down from the bottom. And I don't think I think an
- 45:11embarrassed athlete is a dangerous athlete.
- 45:14And I think the two, the whole 2025 New Yorker Mets are
- 45:18embarrassed. Therefore, they will be
- 45:20dangerous in 2020. 6 Goody, I will I will say this, I did
- 45:23mention this when we're doing our baseball preview at the
- 45:25beginning of the year because obviously the Mets are going to
- 45:27get all the hype with signing soda last year.
- 45:28But I was like this. This helps the case of Errol.
- 45:32You may even let you last week bring up how sports were rigged.
- 45:34It's 40 years removed from their last championship.
- 45:37Maybe that's the adversity they needed to go rock bottom to
- 45:40that, hopefully. That's exactly Sometimes you
- 45:43have to hit rock bottom to to climb Mount Everest.
- 45:47I mean, if you. Smell so I can't trust it yet,
- 45:49but you never know. I'll go next.
- 45:51I got one for you, Errol. You were just talking about
- 45:55Pittsburgh Penguins. Well, mine is about a team that
- 45:59just took them to the woodshed 6 to 1.
- 46:02Yes, the New York Rangers under former Pittsburgh Penguins head
- 46:08coach Mike Sullivan. I got 2A2 for prediction for you
- 46:12#1 The Rangers are back in the playoffs this year under
- 46:17Sullivan's guidance, and more so Adam Fox, who already has three
- 46:23goals this season in four games, will finish as a finalist for
- 46:30the Norris Trophy. Once again, in a resurgent
- 46:33season under a new head coach that believes in him, let's go
- 46:38Rangers. There's the Homer.
- 46:41There he is, ladies and gentlemen, he's back.
- 46:44All right, I'll go. I'll go next.
- 46:45I'll go next. I'm going to go for the opposite
- 46:48angle of what we're talking about with James Franklin.
- 46:49Like who would Penn State hire next?
- 46:51I'm going to go for the other angle and go for one of the dark
- 46:53horse contenders to be hired by a Power 5, by a Power 4 school,
- 46:58a guy that stepped away from coaching for a while and is now
- 47:00undefeated this year in his first year from coaching.
- 47:03Goody, it was your LSU Tigers that probably led to him getting
- 47:06fired in the infamous Florida Gators game where Marco Wilson
- 47:09throws a show. How about Dan Mullen for a six
- 47:11and O UNLV team? He's wanted to coach again in in
- 47:14one of those SEC or Big 10 schools for a while.
- 47:17He's from Pennsylvania. He actually was born in Drexel,
- 47:19Pennsylvania. He played college football in
- 47:21Pennsylvania as a tight end. It Ursinus just like a Eros boy,
- 47:24Bambi Sala College tight end, and he coached some pretty good
- 47:27quarterbacks in his time at Mississippi State, including the
- 47:30beefs boy Dak Prescott when he was in college and in Florida
- 47:33had some pretty good guys too, Philippe Franks and yeah, CJG
- 47:36Simone's boy, Kyle Trass. So if anyone needs a guy that
- 47:40can rebirth the quarterback if Dural are stuck staying there
- 47:42off of his injury, why not try for somebody like Dan Mullen?
- 47:45So watch out for him as a dark horse for that Penn State job.
- 47:50Wow, by the way, I also, I also saw that Brian Kelly was that's
- 47:54the Sports Illustrated attached his name to the.
- 47:56All right, that's interesting too, because I I get Mullins
- 47:59wine and SEC job for a while. So once it surprised me if he
- 48:01pounces on LSU. If that ends up happening, so is
- 48:03he. Going to get an Amish accent now
- 48:06for being in Pennsylvania. Oh God, I don't know how I want
- 48:09to know how that one's going to turn out.
- 48:13Interesting. We got Tommy.
- 48:15Yep. All right, so I didn't really
- 48:17have one prepared, but I'm going to be I'm going to go over to
- 48:21wrestling now. I'm particularly going over to
- 48:23wrestling as in recently. Everybody of course knows the
- 48:28game, the Cerebral Assassin, the man Triple H is in charge of, of
- 48:32course, the creative, head of the creative and WWE, everything
- 48:36that goes through him, everything that goes through WWE
- 48:38goes through him. My main being is that a lot of
- 48:40the fans, a lot of the community, a lot of the fans
- 48:43within the community are just somewhat irate at his decisions
- 48:47recently. Now of course, being a Booker
- 48:49does take a lot. You realize you have to be a
- 48:51Booker book these storylines years in advance, not years, but
- 48:55months in advance build up for WrestleMania, which is of course
- 48:58the Super Bowl of the of the WWE.
- 49:01My thing is a lot of people have been really critical of Triple
- 49:03H. Now, I was a big supporter of
- 49:05his. I'm somewhat more critical of
- 49:06him as of now as well. But my thing is, is that we all
- 49:11know of course, the man who's his father-in-law, Mr. Vincent
- 49:15Kennedy McMahon. Now he's of course not in the
- 49:18WWE because of all the Janelle Grant playing dipsy doodle with
- 49:22a bunch of his Co workers or a bunch of his colleagues,
- 49:25whatnot. So my thing.
- 49:27Is you say, dipsy doodle? Dipsy doodle that went over like
- 49:32a fart in church. Well, hey it.
- 49:35Definitely did go over like a fart in church.
- 49:37With Vince McMahon. Another tow job, the.
- 49:39Thing I'm going to be going with is after I would say a year, if
- 49:43Triple H doesn't have it figured out by now, which means it'll be
- 49:47about four years that he'll be in charge at that point.
- 49:49And we see 2, numbers are going down, numbers are tanking as we
- 49:52speak. Like I said, fans are just
- 49:54starting to tune out the net. Sucks my indo.
- 49:57The Netflix move has been somewhat of a flop.
- 49:59John Cena's retirement tour I could see very much within the
- 50:03next year, maybe 2, if Vincent Kennedy McMahon comes back and
- 50:07takes over the reins for Triple H So.
- 50:10Of course, it would have to be here we go.
- 50:12We have Brock Lesnar that just came back recently.
- 50:15It was all in the news, all in the media, never going to get
- 50:17brought back, never going to get brought back.
- 50:18So after all we've even seen in wrestling, you should never say
- 50:22never. So hey, I could see totally
- 50:25coming back, Vince McMahon taking over the reins if things
- 50:28don't go over well with Triple H And yeah, Vince McMahon could be
- 50:34coming back, making a comeback. All right, all right, ladies and
- 50:37gentlemen, last time we did call your shot, I told you where I
- 50:41think LeBron James is heading, and that's going to be the
- 50:44Dallas Mavericks. Here's another crazy, crazy
- 50:48thought. November 14th will be a big
- 50:52fight in Miami and it's not going to be anything that you
- 50:56even thought. It will be Javonte Tank Davis
- 51:01versus the one and only Jake Paul.
- 51:04Now, if anybody knows about this fight, Jake Paul has bought his
- 51:08way through the boxing world telling everybody that he's
- 51:13going to be champion after champion.
- 51:16He wants to fight Canelo Alvarez.
- 51:19He wants to fight Triple G. Well, he's got a chance to fight
- 51:22a great fighter out who weighs 133 pounds, 133 lbs to his 199
- 51:29lbs. My prediction in this fight is
- 51:32straightforward. Javonte Tank Davis is not going
- 51:36into this fight and letting Jake Paul go all 12 rounds with him
- 51:42or 8 rounds. However way this fight goes, I
- 51:45expect Javante Davis to knock Jake Paul out for the first time
- 51:51in his boxing career. There is no way, if Javante
- 51:56believes that he is going to continue moving forward as a
- 52:00championship fighter, as a prize fighter, that if he goes into a
- 52:04ring with Jake Paul and let Jake Paul last 8 or 12 rounds with
- 52:09him and not end him, he will be the most embarrassed boxer in
- 52:14boxing history. This guy is still in the prime
- 52:16of his career and he's going to go in the ring to try to make
- 52:19money, make a significant amount of money.
- 52:21Expect it. Book it.
- 52:23And if you're going to bet Javonte Davis will knockout Jake
- 52:27Paul in 7 to 8 rounds, book it. He will knock about.
- 52:33So take that 133 pound, 133 LB fighter getting in the ring with
- 52:39199 LB fighter and he is going to knock him flat, cold on the
- 52:44canvas. You can book it.
- 52:46I promise you guys, if you're a betting man, I don't know what
- 52:49the betting line is right now. It will probably come up in the
- 52:52next couple of weeks. Javonte Tank Davis is not going
- 52:56into this fight to just give this fight away to Jake.
- 52:59He is going to knock him out. So Jake, this might be the last
- 53:03time you see Jake Paul even try to attempt to get into a ring
- 53:08with a real boxer because this man is still in the prime of his
- 53:12career career and he hits like a heavyweight.
- 53:14So he's not going to go into the ring and let Jake Paul beat him.
- 53:18So why? Does Jake Paul look so fat?
- 53:20I'm not the one that thinks that, no.
- 53:22No, he's yeah, I see it. So no, no, no, it's it's just a
- 53:25shirt. Jake Paul is not fat.
- 53:26He's in great. Shape.
- 53:28Jake Paul is in great shape. He's a great he's listen, he's
- 53:32an athlete. You can't take that away from
- 53:34me. It's hard too.
- 53:36But Javonte Davis that is, is tank is, is still in the prime
- 53:41of his career. And besides his last fight, this
- 53:44guy was unbeatable and, and he spars with heavyweights and he
- 53:48hurts heavyweights. And those guys are real boxers.
- 53:51This guy's getting in the ring with a guy that's not really a
- 53:55boxer. So I, I do not believe that that
- 53:58somebody like Jake Paul is going to and Jake gets very tired in
- 54:01the first two or three rounds. Javonte eats away on rounds and
- 54:06as the rounds get deeper, he gets better and he hits harder.
- 54:10So I don't think Jake has a chance and I don't, I don't
- 54:13think what I'm hearing other fighters say that if Javante
- 54:17Davis lets him last more than 5 rounds, he's going to be the
- 54:20laughingstock of boxing. There's no way Javante is going
- 54:23to allow Jake Paul to even last a significant amount of time.
- 54:27He's going to kick his ass. So just book that, Mark my
- 54:31words, he knocks out Jake Paul. TKO is Jake Paul and you.
- 54:34That will be the last time we hear of Jake Paul saying that
- 54:38he's going to get into the ring with a professional boxer.
- 54:40Again, I'm not talking about Julio Cesar Chavez Junior who
- 54:44pretty much was doing drugs and selling drugs on the side
- 54:48because he can't, he couldn't stay in freaking the United
- 54:50States and do it do it the right way.
- 54:52He had to be sent back to Mexico because he was doing illegal
- 54:55things here. So that's all I'm going to say
- 54:57about that. So book it, Javonte.
- 54:59Tank Davis knocks out Jake Paul November 14th on Netflix.
- 55:07So that's it. That's my prediction.
- 55:10And by the way, Tank, I knew Tank.
- 55:13I've watched Tank years, I've watched his development and I, I
- 55:18think he's embarrassed, but he, he understands that this is a
- 55:21game of money and he knows what marketing does for him.
- 55:25He's and he wants to put on a show and he's going to put on a
- 55:27show with Jake Paul, but he's not going to let Jake Paul tell
- 55:30him. Well, just let me last.
- 55:33Let me last all the rounds. You're still gonna win.
- 55:35There's no way tanks gonna allow that to happen.
- 55:38He's not gonna allow that happen.
- 55:39He's not that kind of person. So anyways, that's it for our
- 55:42show. A shout out to Jabba.
- 55:45He's moving three houses. He he actually showed up for a
- 55:48little bit of the baseball segment.
- 55:50So thank you to Jabba. He definitely popped right in
- 55:53and popped right out. Thank you to my good stir.
- 55:57Big part of our show every single week.
- 55:59Goodies, bag of balls. I appreciate you.
- 56:01I know you're busy daddy and you're you're doing so many
- 56:04things and I'm going to shoot you a call tomorrow.
- 56:07As as you always know, I'm definitely going to shoot you a
- 56:09call tomorrow. But it was a great, great show.
- 56:12Thank you to all the fans on social media, Speedy.
- 56:16Speedy was telling me our numbers are driving right now.
- 56:19It's been incredible. So say thank you to all the fans
- 56:23tuning in and listening to us and tuning into us on all the
- 56:27platforms. I don't have to name it.
- 56:28You know what platforms you're following us.
- 56:31And we'll be back on Wednesday. Who do we have coming on?
- 56:34All right, Speaking of some SEC football, we have a former SEC
- 56:36football player of the year, also was an NFL quarterback.
- 56:39He played for Washington, the Raiders, the Bears and one other
- 56:41team I forget offhand. Jason Campbell will be joining
- 56:43the show. He now does Auburn Radio, radio
- 56:46broadcasting as well and has a podcast on the Believe Network
- 56:49as well, which is the same as what our friend Bilal Powell
- 56:51has. Yeah.
- 56:51And just so everybody knows, we were asked to go on the Believe
- 56:54Network and I decided two years ago, me and Speedy, I decided
- 56:59not to go on the believe network because I didn't like their
- 57:01offer. We were going to talk a little
- 57:03Nick's basketball at that point. But believe is doing some
- 57:08amazing things or a good podcast organization, a big
- 57:10organization. And they've got a lot of guys
- 57:13just like Blue wire with us. And thank you to Nick because
- 57:16Nick, Nick was behind all of that and, and getting us the
- 57:20hook up with Blue Wire. And and thank you to Blue Wire
- 57:23as well for letting us shout out to Kyle.
- 57:26I reached out to Kyle today. He was sensational.
- 57:28Thank you to Kyle for, you know, obviously reaching back to me.
- 57:31So yeah, we'll be back on Wednesday and we're looking
- 57:34forward to it. So as everybody knows, suck my
- 57:37Indo. Good night, everybody.
- 57:39It is the worldwide sports radio network.
