- 2:35Sunny mornings send you. In local news, after
- 2:41a whirlwind World Cup romance, Boston and the
- 2:44city of Glasgow, Scotland are getting hitched.
- 2:47Scottish fans have descended on Boston. drinking
- 2:50local pubs dry and marching to Red Sox games
- 2:53at Fenway Park, bringing positive vibes that
- 2:56have lit up social media. Now Boston is cementing
- 3:00that relationship by becoming sister cities with
- 3:03Glasgow. Mayor Michelle Wu announced the partnership
- 3:06at The Haven, a Scottish restaurant in Jamaica
- 3:09Plain, where she signed documents while chanting
- 3:12a Tartan Army chant, no Scotland, no party. Thousands
- 3:17of fans dressed in kilts celebrated their World
- 3:19Cup victory over Haiti with a full band of bagpipes
- 3:23on Lansdowne Street. Now on to sports. Raul Rangel
- 3:33uses pure reaction to make a save that moves
- 3:36Mexico into the knockout stage of the World Cup.
- 3:39With Mexico just minutes away from securing a
- 3:42spot in the knockout stage. Rangel extended his
- 3:46right arm to keep the ball from crossing the
- 3:48line, denying South Korea an equalizer. The 87th
- 3:53-minute save sealed a 1 -0 win and a first -place
- 3:57finish for Mexico in Grupa, making El Tri the
- 4:00first team to advance from the group stage. Rangel
- 4:04stated, it was very quick, it was pure reaction,
- 4:07expressing his focus and determination. Coach
- 4:11Javier Aguirre praised Rangel's determination
- 4:13and performance this season. In local sports,
- 4:18the Red Sox are in trouble. They got swept at
- 4:21home by Toronto, dropping their fourth straight
- 4:24and sitting at 29 -43. Sonny Gray did not mince
- 4:29words after yesterday's loss. We're just not
- 4:32a good team right now. That's sobering coming
- 4:35from an 8 -1 pitcher. Now Boston heads to Seattle
- 4:40tonight to face the Mariners, with Gray's replacement,
- 4:44Ranger Suarez, taking the mound against Bryce
- 4:47Miller. The Sox have lost 10 of their last 11
- 4:51and desperately need to find some offense. They
- 4:54scored just one run in each of their last two
- 4:56games. Meanwhile, expect trade talk to dominate
- 5:00the conversation around Fenway. Gray himself,
- 5:04a Roldis Chapman. and young outfielder Jaron
- 5:08Duran have all been mentioned as potential pieces
- 5:10Boston could shop before August. On the ice,
- 5:15the Bruins made a pre -draft move, swapping forward
- 5:18Andre Gasso and a fourth -round pick to San Jose
- 5:22for a fourth -rounder and a fifth -rounder. Boston
- 5:27moved up 16 spots in the fourth round and now
- 5:30has eight total selections heading into next
- 5:33week's draft in Buffalo. Over in basketball,
- 5:36the Celtics are looking to trade up from their
- 5:3927th pick, trying to add a scorer and shore up
- 5:42the center position. They've got the mid -level
- 5:46exception in assets to work with. In top news,
- 5:51researchers studying the universe's pink planet
- 5:54have discovered an unexpected feature in its
- 5:57atmosphere, clouds made of salt. A team of astronomers
- 6:01led by Northwestern University utilized the James
- 6:05Webb Space Telescope to identify a salty cloud
- 6:08atmosphere unlike anything previously observed.
- 6:11The findings were published Thursday in the Astronomical
- 6:15Journal. The pink planet, formerly known as GJ
- 6:19504b, is not technically a planet, but a planetary
- 6:23mass companion. It orbits a sun -like star located
- 6:2757 light -years from Earth. and has a temperature
- 6:31of 550 degrees Fahrenheit. Anish Fabraj, the
- 6:36study leader, expressed surprise at the existence
- 6:38of these clouds at such temperatures. The Webb
- 6:42telescope's capability allowed researchers to
- 6:45capture the planet's faint light, revealing elements
- 6:48like water vapor, methane, and salt clouds. Babaraj
- 6:53noted that the powerful telescope enables the
- 6:56detection of colder atmospheric conditions for
- 6:59future research. In business news, Wednesday's
- 7:04Federal Open Market Committee statement shows
- 7:07the Federal Reserve is entering a new era under
- 7:10Chairman Kevin Warsh. The statement contained
- 7:13around 130 words, down from over 300 in recent
- 7:18meetings, according to a CNBC analysis. Warsh
- 7:22acknowledged a difference in the statement during
- 7:24his first press conference, noting it had no
- 7:28forward guidance, as it was not well -suited
- 7:30for the current policy conjuncture. He emphasized
- 7:34that the statement is a bit shorter, a bit simpler,
- 7:37and focuses on the facts. This change is seen
- 7:41as part of the regime change Warsh has promised
- 7:44for the central bank. In crypto movement, Bitcoin
- 7:49is down 4 .5 % for the week. to just under $63
- 7:53,000. Ethereum is down 1 % to just over $1 ,700.
- 7:59And XRP is down 4 % to $1 .15. Moving on to a
- 8:07more local vibe. In our community spotlight on
- 8:11health and wellness, we are working with a national

- 8:34benefits. So now you can check out Club Pilates
- 8:38for a free class. With locations in Canton, Wellesley,
- 8:43Hingham, Brookline, and Framingham, just be sure
- 8:47to tell them Sunny Morning sent you by. And now,
- 8:51back to the show. Let's talk tech. Microsoft
- 8:56says it has detected new self -propagating malware,
- 8:59which spreads through USB drives in search of
- 9:03cryptocurrency credentials. This malware, named
- 9:06CryptoClipper, monitors clipboard contents for
- 9:09wallet addresses or seed phrases. When it finds
- 9:13these, it takes five screenshots over a 10 -second
- 9:16period. sending both the credentials and screenshots
- 9:19to attackers through Tor. Microsoft noted, the
- 9:23execution of this Clipper is notable because
- 9:26it does not depend on a traditional installer
- 9:29or exposed IP -based command and control infrastructure.
- 9:34Instead, it uses a portable Tor client at a local
- 9:37SoFiCast 5 proxy. Crypto Clipper spreads through
- 9:41long files on USB drives, downloading itself
- 9:45if not already installed. And in entertainment
- 9:51news, the Cold War remains a compelling backdrop
- 9:55for historical drama, and Apple TV series Star
- 9:59City illustrates this point vividly. Set in an
- 10:03alternate history where the Soviets reached the
- 10:05moon first, the series diverges from its predecessor
- 10:08for all mankind while maintaining its own identity.
- 10:13Although it shares characters like Anastasia
- 10:15Velikova, Star City builds its own compelling
- 10:19narrative. With comparisons to the acclaimed
- 10:22The Americans, Star City balances for all mankind's
- 10:26optimism with a gritty espionage thriller vibe,
- 10:30exploring the challenges faced by its characters
- 10:32under the Soviet state's watchful eye. Well,
- 10:37alrighty folks, it's time for the quote of the
- 10:40day. And today, Our quote comes from the American
- 10:44civil rights leader and activist Frederick Douglass.
- 10:48And he said, If there is no struggle, there is
- 10:52no progress. This reminds us that the path to
- 10:55freedom and dignity often requires perseverance
- 10:58and resilience. And that's a wrap for this morning.
