- 2:27SPEAKER_13: This time I call after Robert Allen.
- 2:32SPEAKER_13: After Albert.
- 2:55SPEAKER_11: We were public agree.
- 2:57SPEAKER_11: I do not choose to be a common man.
- 2:59SPEAKER_11: It is my wife to be uncommon.
- 3:02SPEAKER_12: If I seek opportunity without security, I want to take the calculated risk of green and will.
- 3:09unknown: Not to fail and to succeed.
- 3:12SPEAKER_12: Our views are low.
- 3:24SPEAKER_12: I will not pray for real.
- 3:30SPEAKER_11: I will never have any matters.
- 3:52SPEAKER_01: That is State House of Representative Member Jim Clover, who just read the Republican Creed.
- 3:57SPEAKER_01: But our cameraman from the Lanter University College Republicans is on the floor with Congressman Lindsey Graham.
- 4:03SPEAKER_01: So let's go down to our cameraman to hear what Congressman Graham, who's who is a rising star right now in South Carolina politics, to see what uh the Congressman has to say.
- 4:13SPEAKER_15: Um, yeah.
- 4:14SPEAKER_05: Who are the College Republicans use for me?
- 4:16SPEAKER_05: I think college Republicans were indispensable in Greenwood County.
- 4:21SPEAKER_05: They put up signs, I make phone calls.
- 4:23SPEAKER_05: We have about 3,000 phone calls made from the phone bank.
- 4:26SPEAKER_05: They get the campaign energy.
- 4:28SPEAKER_05: T-shirts.
- 4:30SPEAKER_05: College Republicans really enthusiast about what they had otherwise.
- 4:36SPEAKER_05: Thank you very much.
- 4:38SPEAKER_05: The College Republicans 96 County.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: Lindsey Graham was standing on the outside of the hall there.
- 4:55SPEAKER_01: They were whispering because the things are that are going on right now on the floor at the convention, and we're going to go right back down to the third district chair, Ellie Litz, who is now presiding over the hall.
- 5:16SPEAKER_13: I have pleasure of introducing upon it to bring the first part of that I have the idea of finding all the president candidates to work on the pleasure.
- 5:40SPEAKER_13: Why from Dr.
- 5:42SPEAKER_13: Hooper?
- 5:53SPEAKER_13: The other candidates, with the exception of one, client with the records.
- 6:01SPEAKER_13: So therefore, we have arriving the call with your private management into everywhere.
- 6:10SPEAKER_13: And it's with great pleasure that my dear friend sent the three out of the salute.
- 6:18SPEAKER_13: Now, they sent me a fast of an introduction screen that someone gave in Minnesota.
- 6:26SPEAKER_13: Well, I want to do that.
- 6:28SPEAKER_13: I just want to tell you that this man has been my friend and great friends for four and a half years.
- 6:43SPEAKER_13: And I want to tell you what he wants to share about his reasons for being president.
- 6:52SPEAKER_13: A very gracious lighting is what he was waiting for.
- 6:59SPEAKER_13: I can use Senator Phil Brown from Texas, the next president of the final.
- 7:14SPEAKER_01: So let's go back down to the floor.
- 7:17SPEAKER_01: Phil Brown is about to speak.
- 7:24unknown: Well, let me first uh thank you.
- 7:27unknown: Uh Wayne Splott for once said, no way can you get a deeper insight into the nature of a leader than by looking at the people that the leader surround themselves with.
- 7:40unknown: That's clearly true of Bill Clinton.
- 7:45SPEAKER_03: But I would be very happy to have anybody in South Carolina or anybody in America judge of anybody that we're.
- 10:28SPEAKER_03: Every family in America that works for a living and has two children next year is going to keep$1,000 more than what they earn.
- 10:35SPEAKER_03: Promises made, promises kept.
- 10:50SPEAKER_03: I want a bright line of distinction to separate us and our party from Bill Clinton and the Democrats.
- 11:07SPEAKER_03: I'm very proud of what we achieved yesterday.
- 11:10SPEAKER_03: Now the hard part comes.
- 11:12SPEAKER_03: Bill Clinton said he's going to need to our budget.
- 11:16SPEAKER_03: And I think the time has come for us to stand on our principles.
- 11:21SPEAKER_03: I am not going to support cutting a deal with Bill Clinton to spend more money we don't have on programs we don't need.
- 11:30SPEAKER_03: There's no circumstance under which I'm going to break our budget to spend more money on Bill Clinton's program more for the future of our children.
- 11:41SPEAKER_03: So if Russ has got a plan to see it, if he wants to save Medicare in another way, he's got a better idea, I'll do it this way.
- 11:50SPEAKER_03: But I'm not going to fudge around and then seven years from now call up my 82-year-old mama and say, well, Medicare went wrong today, which I knew it would have been going wrong, but I didn't want to tell anybody.
- 12:02unknown: And I didn't have leadership courage not to do it with that.
- 12:06SPEAKER_03: I'd rather be criticized for leading.
- 12:10SPEAKER_03: And someday I can explain to people why they got voters because I didn't have courage to deal with the wrong.
- 12:17SPEAKER_03: Let me say just a few things, because I don't want to overuse your hospitality to get it to speak today.
- 12:25SPEAKER_03: As a young member of Congress, I was the author of the Reagan program in the House of Representatives in 1981.
- 12:33SPEAKER_03: Fourteen years ago, I was a foot soldier in the Reagan Revolution.
- 12:39SPEAKER_03: As president, I want to finish the Reagan Revolution.
- 12:43SPEAKER_03: I want less government and more freedom.
- 12:47SPEAKER_03: I wouldn't want the government we have in Washington, D.C.
- 12:50SPEAKER_03: today, even if it were absolutely free.
- 12:55SPEAKER_03: I believe Washington has too much to say about how your income is spent, about how your business is run, about how your land is used, about how your children are educated, and I want to lead a grassroots revolt of the people who do the work and pay the taxes before the right people in America to take that power back from Washington and give it back to your family where it belongs.
- 13:23SPEAKER_03: I want to balance the budget the way you balance your family budget.
- 13:28SPEAKER_03: By setting priorities, and when no is the right answer, I will say no.
- 13:35SPEAKER_03: And let me let you in on the first secrets in there.
- 13:39SPEAKER_03: No is also the right answer in Washington needs.
- 14:19SPEAKER_03: Two weeks ago on Saturday, I set a new record in the campaign from Michigan, Illinois, and Iowa the same day, I kissed 18 babies.
- 14:31SPEAKER_03: New record.
- 14:33SPEAKER_03: And they were all Republican babies.
- 14:35SPEAKER_03: They were three, they'd all be kissed two.
- 14:38SPEAKER_03: And as I kissed each one of those babies, I thought about the new company, which is shocking the nation.
- 14:45SPEAKER_03: If the current trend of spending in Washington continues to evade, a baby born in America today will pay$187,000 in taxes in their working lifetime.
- 15:00SPEAKER_03: Just to pay us public issue.
- 15:03SPEAKER_03: That's not just an economic suicide.
- 15:06SPEAKER_03: That's the more.
- 15:07SPEAKER_03: And so we don't think I'm going to stop them from that.
- 15:11SPEAKER_03: We're going to give Bill Clinton a line item veto at the end of this year.
- 15:15SPEAKER_03: For a whole year's present, he's going to be able to line item veto appropriate.
- 15:20SPEAKER_03: He may use a line item veto, a little piece of pork, a little strip of paper.
- 15:26SPEAKER_03: But I want you to know that if I have to stop this spending spring in Washington that threatens the future of our country and the future of our children, I will use the line item veto on the whole hall.
- 15:51SPEAKER_03: As president, I will make balancing the federal budget my number one priority, and I will not run for re-election if I don't get that job done.
- 16:07unknown: I say that going perfectly well.
- 16:09unknown: I'm going to be back here in four years asking me to renew my contract.
- 16:14SPEAKER_03: I want to be able to look you in the face and say, told you I was going to balance the budget.
- 16:20SPEAKER_03: I tell you, it's going to be fired.
- 16:24SPEAKER_03: But I told you I was going to do it.
- 16:33SPEAKER_03: I don't want to less government just balance the budget.
- 16:36SPEAKER_03: I want to let families eat more than what they earn.
- 16:40SPEAKER_03: When I was a boy, eight years old in 1950, the average family in America was too short.
- 16:46SPEAKER_03: Send one out of every$50 in earnest for Washington.
- 16:49SPEAKER_03: Today my family sends one out of every four dollars in earnest for Washington.
- 16:53SPEAKER_03: And I don't believe the government in Washington is doing as good a job of spending your money on your back as you would do it.
- 17:06SPEAKER_03: And I'm going to change that.
- 17:09SPEAKER_03: I offered the contract with the member that said, doesn't you understand?
- 17:14SPEAKER_03: Giving a$500 tax credit for child, got the capital means tax rate.
- 17:19SPEAKER_03: You'll blend the back reader attack my members saying I'll try to catch spending on chalk.
- 17:31SPEAKER_03: It's a debate by doing something to spend.
- 17:41SPEAKER_03: I know the government, and I know the family, and I know the price.
- 17:52SPEAKER_03: I don't think it's right that families work a lifetime to build up a business, to build up the farm, they pay taxes on every dollar they earn, they plow their after tax dollars back into their business, and then when they try to pass it over to their children, their children have to sell the bills to give government 55%.
- 18:28SPEAKER_03: I know Bill Clinton all next year is going to be screaming.
- 18:32SPEAKER_03: You elect Bill Clay, he's going to cut tax rates, and rich people are going to exploit the situation.
- 18:37SPEAKER_03: They're going to invest their money, and if they're successful, they're going to earn products.
- 18:45SPEAKER_03: And I'm going to respectfully say, welcome to America, Mr.
- 18:50SPEAKER_03: Clinton.
- 18:51SPEAKER_03: That's how the system works.
- 18:53SPEAKER_03: I'm not going to apologize for the system and make it possible for ordinary people like you and me to do extraordinary things.
- 19:02SPEAKER_03: As I always try to tell my two college grandson, you need to remember people like us would be better than any other country in the world.
- 19:11SPEAKER_03: Only because we live in America.
- 19:14SPEAKER_03: And we had the opportunity and freedom, it's made it possible for ordinary people like us to be able to do.
- 19:21SPEAKER_03: Or anywhere else with these ordinary lives.
- 19:25SPEAKER_03: You'll never hear me apologize to clean up.
- 19:34SPEAKER_03: When I was born, I did my mom's old.
- 19:40SPEAKER_03: And we grow past the nice.
- 20:57SPEAKER_03: She's going to be able to walk around her neighborhood on the darkest night and not be afraid.
- 21:03SPEAKER_03: And the people she's afraid of today are going to have bars on their point.
- 21:15SPEAKER_03: Some Democrat always gets up and says, and I'm going to put all those murderers and rapists and harm robbers in prison.
- 21:25SPEAKER_03: As if somehow cheaper wasn't walking street.
- 21:35SPEAKER_03: I'm going to take out the air conditioning, controller television, the waiting room.
- 21:40SPEAKER_03: I'm going to turn out prisons into industrial parks.
- 21:43SPEAKER_03: I'm going to make prisoners work.
- 21:45SPEAKER_03: Ten hours a day, six days a week, go to school at night.
- 21:48SPEAKER_03: So when they get out of prison after serving their full term, they will have a skill, they want to work and pay the cost of being in prison.
- 21:58SPEAKER_03: They'll be able to read right and they won't be in any hurry to do something to get them sent back to that prison.
- 22:06SPEAKER_03: I want to reform welfare because I love all of our citizens.
- 22:12SPEAKER_03: It always wants me.
- 22:14SPEAKER_03: People who oppose reforming welfare act as if if you want to change the system, somehow you want to work for people.
- 22:25SPEAKER_03: We have to advise the system.
- 22:28SPEAKER_03: What the system we got?
- 22:31SPEAKER_03: If you took the design of programming birthday, you couldn't improve on near the fact that we achieved.
- 22:40SPEAKER_03: We are hurting very people trying to help.
- 22:42SPEAKER_03: We started out trying to build a social safety camp.
- 22:45SPEAKER_03: It's now tuned in for help.
- 22:49SPEAKER_03: We have based on this repentance, we just inform us out of the household.
- 22:53SPEAKER_03: We denied people access to the American Green.
- 22:56SPEAKER_03: Or we want to save a program that continues to fail, that continues to hurt people, or we're going to have courage to have a change.
- 23:04SPEAKER_03: I want to ask able-bodied men and women to ride their welfare wagon to get out of the way and help the rest of those four.
- 23:11SPEAKER_03: I want a mandatory work requirement.
- 23:14SPEAKER_03: But able-bodied men and women.
- 23:17SPEAKER_03: I want to stop inviting people to come to America with their hand out and go on welfare.
- 23:23SPEAKER_03: If people come to America, I don't want to come in legally, I don't want to come to their sleeves rolled up ready to go to work.
- 23:29unknown: I don't think people ought to come to America on third.
- 23:36SPEAKER_03: I will stop giving people more and more money to have more and more children on welfare.
- 23:42SPEAKER_03: I'm worried about the fact that one out of every three legend born in America.
- 23:49SPEAKER_03: And if we keep subsidizing illegitimates, in a decade or so, illegitimacy will be the normal decision.
- 23:59SPEAKER_03: No great civilization has ever been formed and will not build on wrong things.
- 24:05SPEAKER_03: No great civilization has ever survived the destruction of this family, we won't be the first one.
- 24:12SPEAKER_03: So how do we change this system?
- 24:14SPEAKER_03: If we stop subsidizing illegitimacy and streamlined adoption, and we give tax families to people who adopt these as well as people who have them, I believe we can fight home for every child growing in America, and everybody can just be full of people.
- 24:31SPEAKER_14: I am voted on.
- 24:59SPEAKER_03: But I do believe there's a consensus that we ought to stop taxpayer funding of a wars on demand and approves to advocate for it.
- 25:39SPEAKER_03: An hour field offers to the value, and I will left out the thousand part of the field.
- 26:17SPEAKER_03: Who has a vision that is clearer?
- 26:21SPEAKER_03: Who's top to change the American government?
- 26:25SPEAKER_03: Let me just tell you a couple of things about it.
- 26:36SPEAKER_03: I failed the third, seventh, and the ninth grade.
- 26:41SPEAKER_03: But my mama didn't give up and even.
- 26:44SPEAKER_03: My mama brought me every step of the way through college with a PhD in economics.
- 26:51SPEAKER_03: My wife turned me down the first two times that I was hosting down.
- 26:57SPEAKER_03: But I didn't give up.
- 27:03SPEAKER_03: And on the road walk, I got down on one knee and I said, Go marry me.
- 27:09SPEAKER_03: I'll spend the rest of my life trying to make you mad.
- 27:13SPEAKER_03: And I didn't get up when she said yes.
- 27:16SPEAKER_03: About 25 years later, I'm still trying to live up to the name of that.
- 27:24SPEAKER_03: I agree.
- 27:26SPEAKER_03: I may not make a great first impression.
- 27:28SPEAKER_03: We have a president today that makes a great first impression.
- 27:31SPEAKER_03: Just once you get to know them, you don't like them.
- 27:35SPEAKER_03: But I'm wearing it.
- 27:38SPEAKER_03: The second thing I want you to know is I'm committed.
- 27:42SPEAKER_03: I've watched four people try to be president during my political career.
- 27:46unknown: I've seen one of them become a great president.
- 27:49unknown: His name is Ron Ray.
- 28:01SPEAKER_03: The other people were as ambitious as he was.
- 28:06SPEAKER_03: The other people wanted to be successful as he wanted to be.
- 28:35SPEAKER_03: I want you to know what you want about me.
- 28:38SPEAKER_03: I know who I am.
- 28:40SPEAKER_03: I know what I believe in.
- 28:42SPEAKER_03: And I'm not afraid to stand up alone, even when the decision I take is unfortunate.
- 28:50SPEAKER_03: You'll remember the darkest moment in the health care today.
- 28:54SPEAKER_03: It really looked like Bill Clinton was going to convince America that it made perfectly good sense to tear down the greatest health care system the world had ever known.
- 29:07unknown: We remember with the bottom of holdings.
- 29:12unknown: Look into a TV camera and say you're against the Clinton up here.
- 29:32SPEAKER_03: I stood up at first alone and said the Clinton Healthcare Bill is going to pass over my whole death of political money.
- 29:41SPEAKER_03: I fought it and killed.
- 29:43SPEAKER_03: There's some issues that are so important that you can't cut deals on anyone in these cities.
- 30:13SPEAKER_03: I look forward to getting to know each of you better.
- 30:16SPEAKER_03: I look forward to getting to know your state better.
- 30:19SPEAKER_03: If I become your president, your problems are going to be my problems.
- 30:24SPEAKER_03: And I want to be sure that I understand the all that's problem there every day to government.
- 30:29unknown: I would like each of you very proud to be here with Lindsay Grant.
- 30:34SPEAKER_03: I wish we were 10 folks.
- 30:37SPEAKER_03: As far as I know, we're not.
- 30:39SPEAKER_03: But I want to tell you, when you elected Lindsay, you cared enough in the words of the old Walmart word.
- 30:46SPEAKER_03: You cared enough to send the very best.
- 31:35SPEAKER_01: That was a great speech by Senator Graham.
- 31:37SPEAKER_01: Hit all the points he needed to hit.
- 31:39SPEAKER_01: He's a popular figure here in Greenwood.
- 31:43SPEAKER_01: He's got a lot of the topic in the county who are supporting him.
- 31:50SPEAKER_01: So that was a really, really, really well done speech.
- 31:53SPEAKER_01: We're gonna hopefully get a chance.
- 31:55SPEAKER_01: Our cameraman's out there, there's some members of the press to try to catch Phil Graham answering some questions.
- 32:01SPEAKER_15: I think we have a lot of support here.
- 32:03SPEAKER_15: I'm encouraged that all over the country at the grassroots we're beginning to win this election.
- 32:12SPEAKER_09: As they get to know me, as they start to look at my understanding that I am a person who is committed enough and tough enough to make these.
- 32:30SPEAKER_09: Yeah, my message is look, be involved in politics, help elect me president, help save the country, but remember that your daddy and your mom are paying your tuition.
- 32:40SPEAKER_09: Study hard, make good grades.
- 32:43SPEAKER_15: Don't squander this opportunity.
- 32:45SPEAKER_15: I say that as a fall that we give this lecture off to children.
- 32:51SPEAKER_15: Thank you, sir.
- 32:53SPEAKER_15: Okay.
- 32:54SPEAKER_03: All right, good study.
- 33:04SPEAKER_03: Okay, I'll be back.
- 33:05SPEAKER_03: I'll be back on the back of the back.
- 33:10SPEAKER_01: There goes Sir Phil Graham.
- 33:11SPEAKER_01: He's on his way, I think, to uh another convention in the state uh from there.
- 33:17SPEAKER_01: And uh great speech.
- 33:19SPEAKER_01: Very nice of him to do a little promo there, talk talk to Republican sports.
- 33:23SPEAKER_01: Um uh Lindsay Graham is at the podium.
- 33:26SPEAKER_01: I think he's already begun speaking, but let's try to catch up with him.
- 33:29SPEAKER_01: And he will be followed by State Party Chairman Henry McMaster.
- 33:45SPEAKER_05: I think we're in a greenwood and went to this county for the first time in my middle of the I'm a congressional election.
- 33:57SPEAKER_05: Thank you for that time.
- 34:07unknown: Okay.
- 34:11SPEAKER_05: Whatever it is.
- 34:16SPEAKER_05: We feel happy.
- 34:17SPEAKER_05: Oh, we've got six more exercise.
- 34:20SPEAKER_05: We have given them a lot of, we can't save the baby, we can change the water.
- 34:29SPEAKER_05: I'm part of creating barrier since the system.
- 34:34SPEAKER_05: I'm a part of creative system.
- 34:39SPEAKER_05: I got sad.
- 34:41SPEAKER_05: I forgot to say that's a little bit of a border.
- 34:50SPEAKER_05: That's what this question's about.
- 34:57SPEAKER_05: We give it back on so I even like saying how sits no matter the home less than the usual.
- 35:06SPEAKER_05: Everybody goes on the following down if you come changes and don't change everyone in real life, say nothing like that.
- 35:20SPEAKER_05: The people here have been supporting how the mind.
- 36:06unknown: Well, thank you very much.
- 36:07unknown: I won't take much of your time.
- 36:09SPEAKER_06: I will say we came from the convention up in Greenville, and they had about a thousand people there.
- 36:16SPEAKER_06: Uh this morning, that's the largest convention they've ever had.
- 36:20SPEAKER_06: This is about a bit many conventions here.
- 36:22SPEAKER_06: I don't have to exactly come down in numbers, but there are a lot of people here.
- 36:26SPEAKER_06: The same thing's happened all around the state.
- 36:29SPEAKER_06: Four or four people have been with his bottom.
- 36:31SPEAKER_06: And that's tremendous news because it's good news for the state, and it's good news for the country.
- 36:39SPEAKER_06: Right this briefly, Ezra Children, some balls that I've been able to go around and seeing people working, getting organized, moving screens, praying, and things turn out alright.
- 36:52SPEAKER_06: If we don't let our dog down in 1996, if we don't forget why we come to meet, if we don't forget how we can work together, we can beat the Democrats in 1996, we can take the state center and have the majority left, we can have a larger majority in the House of Representatives, we might elect one more congressman, we might elect two more, and we'll defeat Bill in that group that he has over there with him.
- 37:24SPEAKER_06: And then only will we be able to take the breath and rational minute before we can start working again.
- 37:33SPEAKER_06: We can't let them down.
- 37:46SPEAKER_14: We've got more than the right number.
- 37:50SPEAKER_06: The enemy is out there stronger and more turn than all the key.
- 37:57SPEAKER_10: That's what we got to do.
- 37:58SPEAKER_10: We are gonna build the block up now, we can go out to the battlefield to shoot the wounded.
- 38:04SPEAKER_06: Have no mercy on them, and I promise you that they can defeat us, they will have no mercy on us.
- 38:10SPEAKER_06: They will turn the flock back to the stone days, and we'll have fun with the time to keep on the stain and keep on going.
- 38:20SPEAKER_06: Keep testimony from the floor.
- 38:27SPEAKER_06: Studies have been released from around the country.
- 38:34SPEAKER_06: Around the country, all the state.
- 38:37SPEAKER_06: The average taxpayer in this country today pays 50.4% of Bill Carmen tax.
- 38:45SPEAKER_06: State taxes, federal taxes, county taxes, and fees, gas tax, sales tax, all that kind of stuff.
