  Speaker 1: You may be listening to this as you drive to

  Speaker 1: work or as you lie in bed in the morning,

  Speaker 1: but I hope that you will also build into your

  Speaker 1: life your own personal time that you take with God

  Speaker 1: when you're not doing anything else, when you're just focused
• 0:32
  Speaker 1: on your relationship with Him. It is the foundation of
• 0:36
  Speaker 1: your spiritual life, and I hope you build a solid foundation,
• 0:41
  Speaker 1: relationship with God, the most important thing in your life.
• 0:45
  Speaker 1: We're talking this week about God's grace in our lives,
• 0:51
  Speaker 1: and we come today to Romans chapter 3, verses 21
• 0:56
  Speaker 1: to 30. Listen to what the apostle Paul says in
• 1:00
  Speaker 1: this beautiful passage. But now, apart from the law, the
• 1:06
  Speaker 1: righteousness of God has been manifested.
• 1:09
  Speaker 1: Being witnessed by the law and the prophets, even the
• 1:13
  Speaker 1: righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ, for all
• 1:18
  Speaker 1: those who believe, for there is no distinction, for all
• 1:23
  Speaker 1: have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

  Speaker 1: How many people fall short of God's standard in life?

  Speaker 1: All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

  Speaker 1: But listen to the next verse. Being justified as a gift,
• 1:43
  Speaker 1: not because they were good enough, but as a gift
• 1:47
  Speaker 1: by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus,
• 1:53
  Speaker 1: whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation.

  Speaker 1: That means a gift given to remove his anger. Jesus
• 2:01
  Speaker 1: was that a propitiation in His blood through faith.

  Speaker 1: This was to demonstrate his righteousness because in the forbearance
• 2:12
  Speaker 1: of God he passed over the sins previously committed for
• 2:17
  Speaker 1: the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present
• 2:22
  Speaker 1: time so that God might be just and the justifier
• 2:28
  Speaker 1: of the one who has faith in Jesus.

  Speaker 1: Where then is boasting it is excluded.

  Speaker 1: You can't boast that you've been good enough for God
• 2:40
  Speaker 1: because no one's good enough. It is a gift from Him.

  Speaker 1: Boasting is excluded by what kind of law of works? No,
• 2:50
  Speaker 1: but by a law of faith, for we maintain that
• 2:53
  Speaker 1: a man is justified by faith apart from works of
• 2:57
  Speaker 1: the law.

  Speaker 1: And he goes on from there.

  Speaker 1: A gift.
• 3:05
  Speaker 1: But remember, a gift only benefits you if you receive it.

  Speaker 1: Did you catch some of the phrases in that passage
• 3:13
  Speaker 1: of Scripture? All have sinned and fall short, but
• 3:18
  Speaker 1: They can be justified as a gift by His grace. Listen,
• 3:24
  Speaker 1: for all those who believe.
• 3:28
  Speaker 1: Um, that's how you receive the gift.
• 3:31
  Speaker 1: Have you ever received God's wonderful gift of forgiveness for
• 3:35
  Speaker 1: the ways you've broken His laws?
• 3:37
  Speaker 1: You receive that gift not by doing good things or
• 3:41
  Speaker 1: becoming very religious. Remember, the gift is paid for by
• 3:46
  Speaker 1: the one who gives it. The way you receive his
• 3:49
  Speaker 1: gift is by believing. It doesn't mean you don't have
• 3:53
  Speaker 1: any questions left. You may still have some questions and doubts,
• 3:57
  Speaker 1: but you see enough of the reality of God in
• 4:00
  Speaker 1: people's lives around you that you say, I am willing
• 4:04
  Speaker 1: to trust. I'm ready to believe.

  Speaker 1: You may have been trusting in your good works or
• 4:10
  Speaker 1: in your involvement at church to make you acceptable to God.

  Speaker 1: But now instead of that, you're going to trust in
• 4:17
  Speaker 1: what Jesus did for you at the cross.
• 4:20
  Speaker 1: You might have been trusting in your old way of
• 4:22
  Speaker 1: life to bring you meaning in life.
• 4:25
  Speaker 1: But now you're going to trust God and turn over
• 4:28
  Speaker 1: the leadership of your life to Him.
• 4:31
  Speaker 1: Why don't you just stop and pray right now and
• 4:35
  Speaker 1: express your faith in what Jesus did for you at
• 4:39
  Speaker 1: the cross.
• 4:40
