- 0:23Speaker 2: I don't crack it up because everybody I here think
- 0:27Speaker 2: my name is La Brittany, but my name is Love Brittany.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Love Brittany. Yes, now run that back, run that back,
- 0:33Speaker 1: run that back. Hey guys, welcome to another episode of
- 0:36Speaker 1: Eating Broke. I'm your host, Coly Witt, and today we're
- 0:39Speaker 1: taking it back to life with Love Britney.
- 0:42Speaker 2: I like that, you see that.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Thank you for coming on here and filming with me
- 0:50Speaker 1: and taking time out of your crazy schedule. You're artist,
- 0:55Speaker 1: you are an entrepreneur, you are a cook. She a
- 1:01Speaker 1: triple threat, and today you are will be having us
- 1:05Speaker 1: eat what lanchos l nachos?
- 1:09Speaker 2: Okay, okay, what.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Kind of nachos is l nachos? Tell us the ingredients?
- 1:13Speaker 2: Okay, So we're gonna use ground turkey. I like that. Now.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Back when I was eating while broke, I used beef. Okay,
- 1:21Speaker 2: but it's just certain things I ain't going back to.
- 1:24Speaker 2: So we're gonna use ground turkey today because it's more healthy.
- 1:28Speaker 2: And then We're gonna use the reed ales as our
- 1:30Speaker 2: chip use. It's just something about them nacho cheese. The
- 1:34Speaker 2: reed alls when you're eating some nachos, they hit different.
- 1:36Speaker 2: So we got cheddar shredded cheddar chea because I love
- 1:40Speaker 2: cheddar cheese, specifically fresh sauce to sour cream, shredded lettuce.
- 1:45Speaker 2: We're gonna add a little bit of green pepper, little
- 1:46Speaker 2: onion to our ground turkey. Okay, And of course we
- 1:49Speaker 2: got our seasonings because that is what makes or breaks
- 1:54Speaker 2: any dish to me is how well you season it.
- 1:58Speaker 2: And we are gonna season our ground with a little
- 2:01Speaker 2: bit of the McCormick taco season. We got some onion powder,
- 2:05Speaker 2: some garlic powder, some peprika, some salt, some pepper and cumin.
- 2:10Speaker 2: You ad it and cuman.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Yeah, do you taste the kuman when you cook it?
- 2:13Speaker 1: Because I have it, but I never could taste it. Really,
- 2:15Speaker 1: I put.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Enough to taste it. But it's cuman is what gives
- 2:19Speaker 2: the taco season and that taco season, and taste it
- 2:24Speaker 2: is cuman.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Yeah, teach you something.
- 2:26Speaker 2: And then a little bit of virgin olive oil because
- 2:28Speaker 2: ground turkey can cook a little dry sometimes.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Yeah, that keep it yeah. So one of our guests
- 2:33Speaker 1: on our show did this trick where he puts soy
- 2:35Speaker 1: sauce in it. Oh, and you want to know something.
- 2:37Speaker 1: I was like, crazy, but you want to know something.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Taco was not dry at all. And I said, mental note.
- 2:45Speaker 1: And now when I make ground turkey, I put soy
- 2:48Speaker 1: sauce in it.
- 2:49Speaker 2: I'm gonna have to try to soy sauce is a
- 2:51Speaker 2: good like substitute for salt. Sometimes makes sense to me.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Makes sense. All right, So go ahead and get in
- 2:58Speaker 1: the kitchen. Lave Britain. All right, here we go, and
- 3:02Speaker 1: take me back to what was going on during the
- 3:06Speaker 1: era of Dorito nachos or la nachos. You said, l
- 3:10Speaker 1: nachos lachos.
- 3:13Speaker 2: I used to cook this meal for my family, which
- 3:17Speaker 2: consists of me and my two sons and my baby daddy.
- 3:21Speaker 2: At that time. This was a long time ago, though.
- 3:23Speaker 2: This was like at this point, probably like over over
- 3:29Speaker 2: fifteen years ago.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Oh that's good. That means you got a good story.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Yeah, this was a long time ago. We were living
- 3:35Speaker 2: in the projects in Detroit, YEP. And life was really good.
- 3:45Speaker 2: To be honest with you, it was fun. I remember
- 3:47Speaker 2: I was like nineteen twenty years old, and I was
- 3:53Speaker 2: like one of the only people in my friend group
- 3:58Speaker 2: to have like my own apartment because all my other
- 4:01Speaker 2: friends once we graduated from high school, they all went
- 4:04Speaker 2: off to college. But me, I was a teenage mother.
- 4:07Speaker 2: I was gone. I had a family.
- 4:09Speaker 1: So how old were you when you had your first child.
- 4:12Speaker 2: I was fourteen when I got pregnant with him, fifteen
- 4:14Speaker 2: when I had oh yeah, oh wow. And then I
- 4:17Speaker 2: was actually nineteen when I had my second son.
- 4:20Speaker 1: So when did you get your first apartment when you
- 4:22Speaker 1: were Not when you're fifteen?
- 4:24Speaker 2: Nope, I got my first apartment right when I turned eighteen.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Okay, okay, yeah, yep.
- 4:30Speaker 2: This was one of those meals that as I raised
- 4:33Speaker 2: my sons over there we would eat. Me and my
- 4:35Speaker 2: sister want all my friends to come over. We'll all
- 4:37Speaker 2: have taco Tuesdays. We'll make nachos. We will make tacos
- 4:40Speaker 2: like my tacos are still my fan favorite favorite.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Oh so I'm about to really enjoy this today.
- 4:48Speaker 2: If I would have made my tacos, you would have
- 4:50Speaker 2: really enjoyed it.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Why do you do that to me? I know why
- 4:52Speaker 1: you do that. I can't believed we needed.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Some flower tortillas, and we would do you fright them
- 5:00Speaker 2: by them, that's what make them so good. Why you
- 5:02Speaker 2: do that? I don't know. Oh, I got you.
- 5:04Speaker 1: I went back and forth with Jennifer on these meals
- 5:06Speaker 1: and I was like, you sure, you sure? You sure?
- 5:07Speaker 1: Because I after seeing your cooking.
- 5:09Speaker 2: I'm like, cause you know what it was you said
- 5:11Speaker 2: eating while broke So my tacos that was an elevated
- 5:17Speaker 2: version like this was like eating wile broke. More. My
- 5:22Speaker 2: tacos is something I cooked all the time still to
- 5:25Speaker 2: this day. So we'll just have to run that back.
- 5:28Speaker 1: Okay, we'll run that back.
- 5:29Speaker 2: We'll just run it back.
- 5:29Speaker 1: We'll run it back. So take me back. So you're
- 5:32Speaker 1: having the family life as a young mom, and but
- 5:36Speaker 1: you said that was the best times I became a mom,
- 5:39Speaker 1: and I can honestly say that was the hardest times
- 5:42Speaker 1: of my life. So to hear you say it was
- 5:45Speaker 1: the best is interesting. Oh I like it. Okay, I
- 5:58Speaker 1: thought it was because she kept going like this, there's
- 6:03Speaker 1: a fly in the studio. I like your hair though,
- 6:06Speaker 1: when you flipping like that, just flip it over. Okay,
- 6:10Speaker 1: So tell me, like, why do you consider a great time?
- 6:13Speaker 1: Was it? Did you have a bunch of childcare or something.
- 6:17Speaker 2: No, it was just honestly, it was just a fun time,
- 6:21Speaker 2: like we were all we just would have fun. It
- 6:27Speaker 2: seemed like life at that time was like, granted, we
- 6:32Speaker 2: have the struggles of being a mother. We have just struggles.
- 6:36Speaker 2: I feel like that have never went away in life.
- 6:38Speaker 2: But at that time I felt like it was so
- 6:41Speaker 2: just innocent love. Life was new to us because we
- 6:45Speaker 2: were just out of high schools. Once you graduate from
- 6:47Speaker 2: high school, you are entering into this new phase of life.
- 6:52Speaker 2: And my life was me being a mother to my
- 6:56Speaker 2: hold on my life was but I don't want to
- 7:03Speaker 2: kill it.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Guys, Just for all the listeners, there's a fly in
- 7:08Speaker 1: the studio and Benny's over here doing the full know
- 7:17Speaker 1: you got it.
- 7:19Speaker 2: I'm scared to kill it over here because we don't
- 7:21Speaker 2: want to kill it in the pool.
- 7:22Speaker 1: No, all right, continue to face.
- 7:25Speaker 2: My life was me being a mom to my two sons.
- 7:30Speaker 2: One was a toddler at that time and the other
- 7:33Speaker 2: one was a baby. Me and my ex we have
- 7:35Speaker 2: been together since I was a teenager. It was like
- 7:37Speaker 2: your first love, yeah yeah, And we were like we
- 7:41Speaker 2: was hustling together. We were just trying to figure out
- 7:44Speaker 2: life as young parents, and it was fun, like we
- 7:48Speaker 2: would have all our friends come over like we was
- 7:52Speaker 2: we were young, but like the grown.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Yeah, you were like the young adults. All your friends
- 7:57Speaker 1: are probably living in dorms. You guys are like come
- 7:59Speaker 1: to my house.
- 8:00Speaker 2: That literally, like we was all just turning twenty. I
- 8:03Speaker 2: turned twenty one living there, We're getting turned there. Now
- 8:06Speaker 2: we could buy bottles. It was a It was a
- 8:09Speaker 2: time in my life that I will never forget, honestly.
- 8:12Speaker 1: And what were you guys doing to take care of
- 8:14Speaker 1: your family?
- 8:16Speaker 2: So we both had jobs like my he worked, I worked.
- 8:20Speaker 2: I would work a bunch of different jobs because I
- 8:22Speaker 2: don't like I've always had a very entrepreneur mentality my
- 8:26Speaker 2: whole life because when I had my first son, I
- 8:28Speaker 2: wasn't even old enough to get a job. So in
- 8:30Speaker 2: order for me to go to school, I used to
- 8:32Speaker 2: break here to make money so I could pay for
- 8:34Speaker 2: him to go to daycare. Oh no, that's when I
- 8:37Speaker 2: was like fifteen fourteen. As I got older, I always
- 8:40Speaker 2: also had to work a job, Like my first job
- 8:42Speaker 2: was taco bill okay, So like I would work jobs
- 8:45Speaker 2: like at that time, I was bartending down at in
- 8:48Speaker 2: clubs downtown Detroit. I wasn't even old enough to bartend.
- 8:51Speaker 2: I wasn't even twenty one yet.
- 8:52Speaker 1: But how were you able to pull that off?
- 8:54Speaker 2: Because they just loved me at home? You know, they
- 8:57Speaker 2: they like, how did you le bring me? You love
- 9:00Speaker 2: pretty girls behind the bar? You feel me? So I
- 9:02Speaker 2: was actually running up a check at home as a bartender.
- 9:05Speaker 2: I ain't gonna lie. I missed them days that fast cash.
- 9:08Speaker 1: It was funny. Now, how did your parents take the
- 9:11Speaker 1: news of you becoming a young parent.
- 9:14Speaker 2: It was very shocking to them. It was something that
- 9:16Speaker 2: they definitely had to adjust to. But shout out to
- 9:19Speaker 2: my mama because when she found out, I was already
- 9:24Speaker 2: like seven almost eight months pregnant.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Oh my god, why did you wait? You waited that
- 9:29Speaker 1: long to tell her?
- 9:30Speaker 2: Yeah, it was. It was a scary time. So by
- 9:33Speaker 2: the time she found out, it was like, Okay, what
- 9:37Speaker 2: do we do?
- 9:37Speaker 1: And you can't get a whooping when you're seven months?
- 9:39Speaker 1: Did you plan it so you wouldn't get a whooping?
- 9:43Speaker 2: No? I actually I did not plan it so I
- 9:45Speaker 2: wouldn't get a whooping. No, that wasn't even my thought process.
- 9:48Speaker 2: I was just scared. I was scared. Yeah, it was scared.
- 9:51Speaker 2: I was scared to say, tell anybody.
- 9:53Speaker 1: You ran on the baggy closer.
- 9:54Speaker 2: I wore baggy clothes.
- 9:59Speaker 1: The stuff we do.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Just so stupid. Like when I think about it now,
- 10:03Speaker 2: I'll just be like, that's why I talk about it
- 10:05Speaker 2: a lot and a lot of my TikTok videos and
- 10:08Speaker 2: stuff like that, when I'll be telling these kids, like listen,
- 10:10Speaker 2: first off, practice abstinence, and secondly, I know just in
- 10:15Speaker 2: real life you gonna have sex, protect yourself, and if
- 10:19Speaker 2: you get pregnant, tell somebody, because there's so many things
- 10:23Speaker 2: I could have went wrong with me. Thank god, I'm
- 10:25Speaker 2: covered by the grace of gods.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Because you weren't going to like doctors.
- 10:29Speaker 2: I wasn't doing none of that. Like me and my
- 10:31Speaker 2: son are healthy, thank god. And so it's nothing to
- 10:35Speaker 2: play with. That's it. We laugh at it, but it's
- 10:37Speaker 2: not funny for real. It's really I.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Didn't even think about that. Yeah, that because you're so
- 10:42Speaker 1: focused on hiding it. But and but nobody, no adults new,
- 10:47Speaker 1: not even like an auntie or someone.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Not until until I would. I stayed at my dad's
- 10:55Speaker 2: and they was like, but mind you. At that point,
- 10:57Speaker 2: I was like seven months and they was like, it
- 11:00Speaker 2: ain't right. Brick looked like she gained a weight, she's
- 11:02Speaker 2: sleeping a lot, and they called my mama, and my
- 11:05Speaker 2: mama was like, Brick, this is what your dad saying.
- 11:07Speaker 2: And at that point I couldn't deny it. I was
- 11:10Speaker 2: just like as soon as I lifted up my church,
- 11:14Speaker 2: that was a very crazy time, a very crazy yes,
- 11:19Speaker 2: I did.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Like did she ask you to or you were like surprised?
- 11:22Speaker 1: This where theway game came from.
- 11:24Speaker 2: I think she was like, let your shirt up, and
- 11:26Speaker 2: I was like, I feel.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Like, let's go out in the yard first.
- 11:31Speaker 2: So then she took me to the hospital and the
- 11:34Speaker 2: doctor was like she's such and such weeks. And then
- 11:37Speaker 2: a couple weeks later, my mama threw me the most
- 11:39Speaker 2: banging baby showers in my life in our basement, baby
- 11:43Speaker 2: showers full of high school kids. Crazy. She helped she
- 11:47Speaker 2: cleared out a room in our house, set up the
- 11:49Speaker 2: most beautiful nursery for my son I have. I had
- 11:53Speaker 2: at that time and still have to this day, an
- 11:56Speaker 2: amazing support system from my family on both sides of
- 11:59Speaker 2: the family, my family and my children's father's sides. So
- 12:04Speaker 2: I'm grateful for that for sure.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Are you and your children's father like close? Now I
- 12:08Speaker 1: ain't close to.
- 12:09Speaker 2: The niggas, but I'm thankful for them for me. Just
- 12:12Speaker 2: great good fathers doing the best that they knew how
- 12:14Speaker 2: to do, or doing the best that they know how
- 12:16Speaker 2: to do.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Do you feel like women carry a bulk of I
- 12:20Speaker 1: tell this skit on social media where it was like
- 12:23Speaker 1: a man co parenting versus the woman co parenting. It's
- 12:26Speaker 1: like the woman's carrying a bulk of the responsibility. Yeah,
- 12:29Speaker 1: compared to the man.
- 12:30Speaker 2: I think naturally that just happens because one, we are
- 12:33Speaker 2: the creators of the children's I think the attachment that
- 12:37Speaker 2: we have to our children is going as a mother
- 12:39Speaker 2: is different than what a father has anyway. And then
- 12:42Speaker 2: because we breastfeed.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it's like a whole nother life. I will
- 12:47Speaker 1: die for you.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Yeah. And as women were naturally nurtured. Yeah. And then
- 12:52Speaker 2: in our society the way the capitalists capitalism goes the
- 12:57Speaker 2: wife stay at home, could clean, take your kids and
- 13:00Speaker 2: go out work, make the money, provide and bring it back.
- 13:02Speaker 2: You feel me? So? Yeah, women definitely carry more responsibility
- 13:06Speaker 2: when it comes to children than men. A lot most
- 13:09Speaker 2: of the time.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Just for y'all listeners, I'm gonna mc lebrini's dish. She
- 13:14Speaker 1: added onions and peppers to her very seasoned meat. It
- 13:18Speaker 1: looks juicy, not dry. It's very good. Did you add
- 13:22Speaker 1: water or something?
- 13:25Speaker 2: Nothing I could ever be dry?
- 13:27Speaker 1: What you make it looks not dry at all.
- 13:28Speaker 2: But what you do so remember I told you add
- 13:30Speaker 2: a little bit of olive oil.
- 13:31Speaker 1: I got it.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, I know that's why a lot of people
- 13:35Speaker 2: be afraid to cook with ground turkey because gets drying
- 13:38Speaker 2: and it's hard to season. Like you have to overseason
- 13:41Speaker 2: ground turkey to really be able to taste the flavors.
- 13:43Speaker 2: And when you add onions and peppers and stuff to it,
- 13:47Speaker 2: it help with the flavor.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Okay. So you're hustling, you're supporting your kids with multiple jobs,
- 13:52Speaker 1: and a very young bartender running up a chat tag
- 13:56Speaker 1: at this point, do you have an idea of what
- 13:58Speaker 1: your long term goals are?
- 14:00Speaker 2: As I was doing that, I was also pursuing music.
- 14:03Speaker 2: I was in a girl group at home based out
- 14:06Speaker 2: of Detroit, and we would rehearse every single day, vocal lessons,
- 14:11Speaker 2: performance coaching, media coaching. We would study different DVDs and
- 14:17Speaker 2: CD CDs of our favorite artists. For hours we would
- 14:21Speaker 2: do like face exercises. I was managing artists development. I
- 14:26Speaker 2: was in a production company called Pajam. I don't know
- 14:29Speaker 2: if the gospel singer j Moss a Detroit based Okay, yep,
- 14:33Speaker 2: very successful, well known production somebody by the name of
- 14:37Speaker 2: the jam.
- 14:39Speaker 1: So I was this is after giving birth. This was
- 14:44Speaker 1: going into giving birth.
- 14:45Speaker 2: My second son. This was like within the same right
- 14:49Speaker 2: after I had him.
- 14:50Speaker 1: It was on and they knew you were a young mom. Yeah,
- 14:54Speaker 1: and they weren't intimidated by it. They were like, nah, man,
- 14:56Speaker 1: her talent is so good.
- 14:57Speaker 2: We're gonna they love me. They still love me to day. Wow. Yeah.
- 15:02Speaker 2: And then I've always even before that, I always I
- 15:06Speaker 2: was like in acchoired dance classes, like I've always been
- 15:10Speaker 2: a performer talent shows. I've always written music, like just
- 15:14Speaker 2: my passion has always been music and performance.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Now that didn't cause your parents to question the teen
- 15:24Speaker 1: pregnancy at all, because here is like they know their
- 15:26Speaker 1: child is this is a line of work and at
- 15:28Speaker 1: that time being pregnant and performance. It's not today where
- 15:31Speaker 1: Cardi B's on stage with a belly and BEYONCEA has
- 15:33Speaker 1: their kids. It's a different ear.
- 15:34Speaker 2: You gotta think about it. Like, first off, I grew
- 15:37Speaker 2: up in a single parent household, and if I was
- 15:40Speaker 2: intention I was intentionally wearing baggy clothes to cover up.
- 15:43Speaker 2: But when I would go cheer at games and things
- 15:46Speaker 2: like that, it is what it is.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Okay, none of that swayed you. You were like, no
- 15:50Speaker 1: matter what, this is the end goal.
- 15:53Speaker 2: Yeah, Like I've always known, even through becoming a mother
- 15:58Speaker 2: as a teenager, I've always known who I was and
- 16:00Speaker 2: what I loved and what I'm here to do. I
- 16:03Speaker 2: think that it definitely delayed my progress, and I wasn't
- 16:08Speaker 2: able to prioritize my music or my artistry because now
- 16:13Speaker 2: I had real life priorities. I gotta survive now. But
- 16:18Speaker 2: I've never stopped working towards my goals ever.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Were there seasons where you were like literally had to
- 16:25Speaker 1: step back for the season, like three months or six months.
- 16:28Speaker 2: It still be like that to this day.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Oh wow, yeah, you just so successful.
- 16:31Speaker 2: It's still like that, like this year. Yeah, It's been
- 16:36Speaker 2: like that plenty of times. But I think that's a
- 16:38Speaker 2: blessing though, is to have the choice to step back
- 16:43Speaker 2: and take time and dedicate to other things to prioritize
- 16:47Speaker 2: other things, because sometimes you need a break from it
- 16:49Speaker 2: anyway to be reinspired to love it again. Because the
- 16:53Speaker 2: music industry is very hard. It's taxing mentally and physically,
- 16:57Speaker 2: so sometimes you need a break. It's necessary.
- 17:00Speaker 1: And what season did you end up coming out from
- 17:02Speaker 1: Detroit to LA?
- 17:04Speaker 2: So I started coming to LA when I was like seventeen,
- 17:08Speaker 2: and I was back and forth for years. I was
- 17:11Speaker 2: back and forth for a very long time.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Wow, how are you coming back and forth?
- 17:15Speaker 2: So I worked. I was, I was flown out by
- 17:20Speaker 2: for showcases and stuff our management. But then after that
- 17:23Speaker 2: I got a job at Delta Airlines in Detroit.
- 17:27Speaker 1: You're a hustle. Let me just tell you something. You're
- 17:28Speaker 1: a testament to like the bar what hustling but continues.
- 17:34Speaker 2: So I hung on to that job for seven years
- 17:36Speaker 2: literally just for the flight benefits. And they loved me
- 17:39Speaker 2: so much at that job that they let me work
- 17:42Speaker 2: like three hundred hours eve so I can keep my
- 17:45Speaker 2: benefits because they knew what I was trying to. Like,
- 17:48Speaker 2: they really support me there. Every time I go home
- 17:50Speaker 2: and I fly through DTW Delta terminal.
- 17:55Speaker 1: We're so proud of you. Shout out to y'all, what
- 17:59Speaker 1: was your job Delta?
- 18:00Speaker 2: So I started off as what was called QSA, right
- 18:05Speaker 2: or what is first off? I started working at Delta
- 18:08Speaker 2: when it was Northwest, honey, Okay. I was there when
- 18:11Speaker 2: Delta bought out Northwest, so let's start there. But my
- 18:13Speaker 2: first job with them was I would just transport kids,
- 18:17Speaker 2: unaccompanied miners that were flying by themselves from gate to
- 18:20Speaker 2: gate or from gate to the unaccompanied minor room.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Okay.
- 18:24Speaker 2: And then when Northwest bought out, when Delta brought out Northwest,
- 18:29Speaker 2: they eliminated that position.
- 18:30Speaker 1: I was about to ask, do they still have that?
- 18:32Speaker 2: They do, but it's not that it's not called that anymore.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Now they just use their gate agents to do it.
- 18:37Speaker 2: But when Delta bought out Northwest, then I became just
- 18:40Speaker 2: to see us, and then I was the person working
- 18:41Speaker 2: the gates, like Hi, welcome to Kate A thirty four
- 18:45Speaker 2: with flight from Detroit, Michigan to Miami, Florida. My name
- 18:48Speaker 2: is Labrittany, and I'll be a gay agent today.
- 18:51Speaker 1: I loved doing that because I.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Loved so when I got to they would be like
- 18:56Speaker 2: brine taking mic, pick the mic. That was my favorite
- 18:59Speaker 2: part of that job. But it was crazy though. I
- 19:02Speaker 2: managed to hang on to that job for as long
- 19:03Speaker 2: as I because then I started to get much busier,
- 19:06Speaker 2: started to work harder within my music and I was
- 19:09Speaker 2: out here shooting music videos and recording and just starting
- 19:13Speaker 2: to grow. And then it's like I couldn't even work
- 19:16Speaker 2: my little three hundred hours there, and so.
- 19:19Speaker 1: I had to That means no more benefits.
- 19:21Speaker 2: That, And I was so you don't even get discounted.
- 19:24Speaker 2: I don't get no no more. That girl, when you
- 19:27Speaker 2: don't work for them, no more, they ain't give you.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Let me tell you something. I got a girl that
- 19:30Speaker 1: works for Delta, and I tell her all the time,
- 19:32Speaker 1: sign me up.
- 19:33Speaker 2: Listen that dom flight benefits honey, because it was not
- 19:36Speaker 2: only me, but it was me and my whole family.
- 19:38Speaker 2: So my kids was coming out here, they've been coming
- 19:40Speaker 2: out here since they was their whole life.
- 19:42Speaker 1: And you was fly all around the world, all around
- 19:44Speaker 1: the world.
- 19:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Man, I still want to I'm sorry, I still want
- 19:47Speaker 1: to add Delta to my resume.
- 19:48Speaker 2: I tell anybody who don't know exactly what they want
- 19:51Speaker 2: to do, I say, go work at the airline. To me,
- 19:53Speaker 2: is one of the best jobs.
- 19:54Speaker 1: Yeah, because then you get to see the world and
- 19:57Speaker 1: really feel your footing right, and you're not paying for it.
- 20:00Speaker 2: You like some of them. You may have to pay
- 20:02Speaker 2: taxes on like international bits. But traveling has always been
- 20:05Speaker 2: outside of music, it's my favorite thing to do.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, I would totally do. I'm telling you, you're
- 20:10Speaker 1: you're gonna be flying through the airport and say, Coli,
- 20:13Speaker 1: what are you doing checking these bags?
- 20:16Speaker 2: Listen, I'm telling you that's my favorite thing to do
- 20:19Speaker 2: is to travel. Okay.
- 20:20Speaker 1: So you're working at Delta, You're doing all these hustles,
- 20:22Speaker 1: You're coming back and forth, you're working. This is you
- 20:25Speaker 1: as a teenager. But when do you officially move.
- 20:28Speaker 2: To la I got my first spot out here maybe
- 20:34Speaker 2: like two thousand and seventeen, yep. And then I've had
- 20:37Speaker 2: a place out here ever since. Place here in a
- 20:39Speaker 2: spot at home.
- 20:40Speaker 1: Oh you have both. I go to Detroit probably once
- 20:43Speaker 1: a year now, and I just think anyone that comes
- 20:46Speaker 1: from that environment deserves like an award really because of respect.
- 20:51Speaker 1: It's for me, it's still hard to understand the landscape
- 20:53Speaker 1: of one block looks like a bomb headed. There'll be
- 20:57Speaker 1: two great houses on one block. There's some great nowighborhoods,
- 21:00Speaker 1: But I still don't understand the dynamic of why the
- 21:03Speaker 1: whole community isn't like on the same page.
- 21:08Speaker 2: Yeah, Detroit is building up now. It's a lot of
- 21:11Speaker 2: amazing things going on in Detroit, and not to mention
- 21:14Speaker 2: for that reason, Detroit is one of the best places
- 21:17Speaker 2: to buy real estate. So Detroit has come up so
- 21:21Speaker 2: much in the past ten years. I definitely think Detroit
- 21:24Speaker 2: will once again be one of the greatest cities in America,
- 21:28Speaker 2: because we already are. We just took a hit with
- 21:31Speaker 2: the bankruptcy and all that stuff.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Yeah, there's a lot of great talent that comes great entrepreneurs.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Speaking of entrepreneurs, you can we talk a little bit
- 21:39Speaker 1: about your fashion.
- 21:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I have a clothing store. It's called Our Nation Shop.
- 21:44Speaker 2: And what inspired me to turn to build an actual store.
- 21:48Speaker 2: I've always been into fashion. I've always loved like dressing
- 21:52Speaker 2: looking good. I always loved the soul cloths and things.
- 21:54Speaker 2: But when I did my first headline and show it's
- 21:59Speaker 2: called the Labrini Show at Home and detroyed, I had
- 22:01Speaker 2: my merch at my show, and so my tickets sold out. Right,
- 22:05Speaker 2: it's a set venue, so you only make a certain
- 22:07Speaker 2: amount of money off how off your tickets. But what
- 22:10Speaker 2: I didn't realize was my merch is unlimited, unlimited, and
- 22:16Speaker 2: I made so much money off my merch. I'm like,
- 22:18Speaker 2: hold on, Okay, that's one and then two. I'm really
- 22:23Speaker 2: known for creating like really viral content on the Internet
- 22:25Speaker 2: for a long time now, and so brands like Fashion
- 22:29Speaker 2: Over and Pretty Little Thing, other brands will reach out
- 22:31Speaker 2: to me and pay me to wearthers, and I would
- 22:33Speaker 2: literally see in real timing, like when people see me
- 22:36Speaker 2: wearing something, they would go buy the same thing. And
- 22:39Speaker 2: you know me, I'm a hustler. I'm like, hold on, yeah,
- 22:42Speaker 2: I'm making everybody else reach Let me go on and
- 22:45Speaker 2: figure out how to build this out into a store.
- 22:48Speaker 2: So I hired a web developer and it's just an
- 22:50Speaker 2: online store. But it's really dope though, because I sell
- 22:53Speaker 2: not only like my own branch is like my home
- 22:56Speaker 2: brand li nation.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Shop, but I also have other Nationshop dot com yep.
- 23:02Speaker 2: Lie Nationshop dot com, men, women's clous dresses, all type
- 23:05Speaker 2: of stuff. We've been going viral lately. We got this
- 23:08Speaker 2: outfit called the Aligan Set and it's been selling out. Yeah,
- 23:13Speaker 2: it'll looks so good on you too. I got to
- 23:14Speaker 2: show it to you. You will like it. But yeah,
- 23:17Speaker 2: I also carry like other smaller designers, they sell they
- 23:21Speaker 2: brands on my store. My sister she has a brand
- 23:24Speaker 2: called mother Hustler. Okay, it's so dope. She sells like
- 23:28Speaker 2: these cute like crew necks that say mother Hustler. These
- 23:31Speaker 2: like travel bags that's good for mothers when they travel
- 23:34Speaker 2: traveling with a baby. Her brand represent the mother Hustlers.
- 23:37Speaker 1: And I love that you're you guys are coming.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Together, like oh yeah, yeah, that's a given. Like I'm
- 23:44Speaker 2: a very I'm about my family. I'm about unity and
- 23:47Speaker 2: about helping put other people on. If I learn how
- 23:51Speaker 2: to succeed in something, then I'm gonna spread that knowledge
- 23:54Speaker 2: to I like that.
- 23:56Speaker 1: There's no haterator. I'm not gonna sit down and share with.
- 23:59Speaker 2: You or y'all gonna eat, just like I will say
- 24:03Speaker 2: this about you.
- 24:03Speaker 1: You see how much the way you're handling taking care
- 24:06Speaker 1: of my nocho is very nurturing and loving.
- 24:08Speaker 2: By the way, thank you, girl. This come from making
- 24:11Speaker 2: kids plays all my damn life. For real, You not onions.
- 24:17Speaker 1: I'll skip the onions. I want to try the sercre
- 24:21Speaker 1: the salsa. I'm scared of the jialapenos.
- 24:23Speaker 2: The fresh vollopenos are so good.
- 24:26Speaker 1: I almost did you jar. To be honest, that would have.
- 24:29Speaker 2: Been good too, though, but I really fresh. Ye.
- 24:32Speaker 1: Okay.
- 24:32Speaker 2: See, if this wasn't eating while I broke I would
- 24:34Speaker 2: have made you some homemade guacamole. Oh my gosh, so good.
- 24:39Speaker 2: But you said eating when I broke a bed some
- 24:42Speaker 2: hot dogs.
- 24:43Speaker 1: No, thank god, you could have done guak, though, you
- 24:45Speaker 1: could have done some bombaker. I get it authentic and
- 24:49Speaker 1: trust me with your cooking skills. Which, by the way, guys,
- 24:52Speaker 1: check out what's your Instagram handle for Brittany chef is?
- 24:56Speaker 2: This is Brittany Bites.
- 24:58Speaker 1: Brittany Bites b I t S. If you guys want
- 25:02Speaker 1: to learn how to make some dope, really good looking dishes,
- 25:06Speaker 1: that's where you go. Love Britney Bites b I tes.
- 25:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll be cooking, cooking.
- 25:11Speaker 1: What made you decide to go and open that page.
- 25:13Speaker 2: Up the Brittany Bites? Actually when was this? It was
- 25:18Speaker 2: during COVID, I think, and I was just like, I
- 25:21Speaker 2: cook all the time. I've always cooked. I come from
- 25:23Speaker 2: a family that can cook, of women that can cook.
- 25:26Speaker 2: And I was like, I'm making content all type of content.
- 25:30Speaker 2: Let me make some cooking content. And so the first
- 25:32Speaker 2: video I made went so went viral and people are like,
- 25:36Speaker 2: oh my god, we love your best up.
- 25:38Speaker 1: Oh my gosh.
- 25:40Speaker 2: And so I was like, okay, let me just keep
- 25:42Speaker 2: feeding the streets.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Yeah. I love that.
- 25:45Speaker 2: I do it when I feel like it. I haven't
- 25:46Speaker 2: been consistent as of lately because I've been like in
- 25:49Speaker 2: the studio and been doing a lot of traveling as
- 25:51Speaker 2: of lately. But be sure you don't want to.
- 25:53Speaker 1: I'm gonna try it the way you do it. By
- 25:55Speaker 1: the way, this is like presentation worthy.
- 25:57Speaker 2: I'm gonna chop up the hallopeen yos because you ain't
- 25:59Speaker 2: about to eat one bit o Halloween.
- 26:01Speaker 1: Shut ups. To Michael, he was someone chopping and dicon.
- 26:04Speaker 1: I was like, I don't want her chopping and dicing.
- 26:07Speaker 2: Good, thank you. I need you a sou chef when
- 26:11Speaker 2: I cook.
- 26:12Speaker 1: And Michael was working hard back there. He was chopping.
- 26:14Speaker 2: Shout out to you, Mike.
- 26:19Speaker 1: So you're lately now you're I know you're you said
- 26:22Speaker 1: you're you. You haven't been able to keep it with
- 26:24Speaker 1: the brittany bites as much. But let's talk about some
- 26:27Speaker 1: of this music you got going on and some of
- 26:30Speaker 1: the dope stuff you have coming up.
- 26:32Speaker 2: Yeah, so actually like back to like Yeah, Last Friday,
- 26:36Speaker 2: I dropped a single with Salt and the Detroit Youth
- 26:41Speaker 2: Choir call back to Life. It's really one of my
- 26:43Speaker 2: favorite songs that I've dropped this year so far as
- 26:46Speaker 2: to uplifting, empowering anthem, just talking about taking back your
- 26:50Speaker 2: life because sometimes life can get tough and we can
- 26:54Speaker 2: fit we feel like we have lost it or just
- 26:57Speaker 2: lost sight.
- 26:58Speaker 1: So do you think we can get a teaser snip
- 27:00Speaker 1: it up?
- 27:01Speaker 2: Back to life?
- 27:01Speaker 1: Guys?
- 27:02Speaker 2: I had to ask for us. Oh yeah, it's like who.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Rocked the mic?
- 27:06Speaker 2: We raped the mic? We in here to, we own
- 27:09Speaker 2: them right vibes, living it up. It's just the right time.
- 27:12Speaker 2: This is the night we take back our lives. It's
- 27:16Speaker 2: like a cookout them like sort. I love her. Shout
- 27:20Speaker 2: out to Salt for being a part of that record.
- 27:22Speaker 2: She definitely brought that hip hop. You can hear her
- 27:25Speaker 2: saying whopped them? Yeah, you feel mesion it exactly like
- 27:30Speaker 2: it's just it's just such. It's such a good, feel
- 27:33Speaker 2: good record. If you haven't listened to it, you should.
- 27:36Speaker 2: It's actually doing really good now. I'm an independent artist.
- 27:39Speaker 2: So I don't have the support of hundreds of thousands
- 27:42Speaker 2: of dollars in marketing or radio and stuff like that,
- 27:45Speaker 2: not yet, but this but my music does good organically
- 27:50Speaker 2: or back to life has been moving the truth love
- 27:52Speaker 2: it because when you make quality music, people gonna feel Yeah,
- 27:56Speaker 2: you feel me, no matter how many playlists you own. Yeah,
- 27:58Speaker 2: so people been rocked the wittiest all shout out to y'all.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Speaking of marketing, you've do you feel like you've mastered it?
- 28:05Speaker 1: Because even watching you come in here, you move different.
- 28:09Speaker 1: You move yes, you set up your streams, you're very strategic,
- 28:13Speaker 1: you're playing chess not checkers. You're out here to do
- 28:15Speaker 1: your thing. Yeah, do you feel like you're mastering that
- 28:18Speaker 1: part of the block mastered?
- 28:20Speaker 2: I don't feel like I've completely mastered it because when
- 28:24Speaker 2: it comes to marketing there's so many aspects. But when
- 28:28Speaker 2: it comes to social media marketing.
- 28:30Speaker 1: Social media marketing, I'm sorry, Yeah, definitely, but that's one
- 28:33Speaker 1: of the hardest ones. To be honest, You think so,
- 28:35Speaker 1: I think, so, I guess for you, you got to
- 28:38Speaker 1: try I will. I'm gonna do it the way you
- 28:39Speaker 1: can tell me to do it. The only reason why
- 28:41Speaker 1: I think for you, you may say, oh, it's not
- 28:43Speaker 1: that hard because you've God has blessed you with the
- 28:46Speaker 1: viral ability on a lot of your posts and stuff.
- 28:50Speaker 1: But for the rest of the world, I don't know
- 28:52Speaker 1: if it's that that it comes that easy for them.
- 28:55Speaker 2: It doesn't. And that's why I help people with their
- 28:57Speaker 2: It's like I have artists now, I have artists and
- 29:01Speaker 2: brands that where I help them shoot their content and
- 29:05Speaker 2: help brand their content for them. That's something that I
- 29:08Speaker 2: do in my spare time only with people that I
- 29:11Speaker 2: really love and that I'm inspired by, because creating content
- 29:15Speaker 2: is not as easy as it looks, or just mastering
- 29:18Speaker 2: social media as a whole. It's a lot of work
- 29:21Speaker 2: mentally and physically. It's a lot of creative power that
- 29:23Speaker 2: goes into it, and it's a very strategic way to
- 29:27Speaker 2: shoot things and how to edit things to make them
- 29:30Speaker 2: go viral as well, like certain things yousould say when
- 29:33Speaker 2: you are creating certain type of content. So these are
- 29:37Speaker 2: skills and things that I have mastered over the past
- 29:41Speaker 2: like ten years. Just my first viral piece of content
- 29:44Speaker 2: was called the lo Mix, and I was shooting those
- 29:47Speaker 2: when Instagram could only do fifteen second videos and yeah,
- 29:53Speaker 2: and those videos were so viral. So what I do
- 29:56Speaker 2: is is like a college video of me recreating in
- 30:00Speaker 2: a song, and I recreate the beat using household items
- 30:03Speaker 2: like or tega, oh I love that, boons and knives,
- 30:06Speaker 2: pots and pants, and then I sing it and I
- 30:09Speaker 2: arrange like the harmonies and the melodies or the song.
- 30:13Speaker 2: So that's one. That's how I really started to grow
- 30:16Speaker 2: my following, my fan base on social media. That's how
- 30:18Speaker 2: a lot of the world first seeing me as an artist.
- 30:22Speaker 1: And do you analyze when you're done? Do you analyze
- 30:25Speaker 1: every detail about your audience in those I do.
- 30:29Speaker 2: I am on my analytics page all day, paying attention
- 30:33Speaker 2: to like the timing and everything, who my audience is,
- 30:36Speaker 2: where they from, how old they are. I see everything
- 30:40Speaker 2: all my comments. People might not think I do, because
- 30:43Speaker 2: you'll be like, oh, she got so many followers and
- 30:45Speaker 2: get so many likes, she ain't gonna see if I
- 30:46Speaker 2: don't like it. Yes, I do. I know when you
- 30:48Speaker 2: like my I know who I like it like.
- 30:50Speaker 1: You'll go through that, even the light session. I love that.
- 30:53Speaker 1: I love that. Now do you have a guilty pleasure,
- 30:57Speaker 1: whether it's good comments or bad comments? Like I lean
- 31:00Speaker 1: towards I love the bad comments. I'm weird. Most people
- 31:03Speaker 1: get depressed. I'm like, oh my god, you not believe
- 31:05Speaker 1: they compare me to a man this week? But do
- 31:08Speaker 1: you have a favorite version of comments, like the love
- 31:10Speaker 1: versus the hate?
- 31:12Speaker 2: You know what it depends. I appreciate the love always
- 31:16Speaker 2: way more than hate. But sometimes I do the hate
- 31:19Speaker 2: comments because hate. Because people like you who love hate
- 31:22Speaker 2: comments bring a lot of traction to your content. So
- 31:26Speaker 2: if it's a hate content, people to come and they
- 31:28Speaker 2: see the hot hate content and then they start arguing
- 31:31Speaker 2: with the person engagement. Yeah, so now you're pushing my
- 31:33Speaker 2: content into the algorithm more because of your hate.
- 31:36Speaker 1: Oh wow, No, to all your hater it really is supportant.
- 31:41Speaker 1: So I wanted to ask you also in regards to
- 31:43Speaker 1: social media. I know you said you help out people
- 31:47Speaker 1: that you genuinely want to support. Have you decided to
- 31:50Speaker 1: open that up as also like a consulting part of
- 31:53Speaker 1: your I feel like you're such a hustler you could
- 31:55Speaker 1: totally do that.
- 31:56Speaker 2: So I've actually been trying to my son to manage
- 32:00Speaker 2: and run that really. Yeah, so right now, it's just
- 32:05Speaker 2: loc I don't promote it online or anything like that
- 32:07Speaker 2: because it's a lot of work, and also you it's
- 32:11Speaker 2: a creative thing. You have to be inspired by that
- 32:15Speaker 2: your client. So I've been working with him when he's
- 32:19Speaker 2: actually really good. I do have like different producers that
- 32:23Speaker 2: I work with too that I will bring on to
- 32:25Speaker 2: certain jobs with me. So it is something that I'm
- 32:28Speaker 2: currently working on. I've been working on it for the
- 32:31Speaker 2: last couple of years, honestly.
- 32:32Speaker 1: Yeah, and then with your music start to bounce around.
- 32:36Speaker 1: Matter of fact, let's pause, let's pause. Let's take a
- 32:39Speaker 1: bite of these gorgeous nachos. Okay, let's do it. We
- 32:42Speaker 1: have to do it.
- 32:43Speaker 2: I have not had I haven't made these.
- 32:45Speaker 1: You got to pull your hair back for this one.
- 32:47Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 32:47Speaker 1: Can we eat? Can we eat? I'm trying to get
- 32:50Speaker 1: everything on my nachal chip.
- 32:54Speaker 2: Man.
- 32:54Speaker 1: I wasn't really talking to you. Oh my god, Oh
- 33:00Speaker 1: my god. You know how to flavor when you post
- 33:05Speaker 1: your videos? Do guys go in your damns? Like, hey,
- 33:08Speaker 1: do guys love it? Be like we ain gonna cook
- 33:10Speaker 1: for me. I'm like, we ain't gonna build me a house.
- 33:18Speaker 1: You say that because the guy ever been like, I'll
- 33:20Speaker 1: buy the groceries you cook.
- 33:21Speaker 2: I do not that is not gonna work for me.
- 33:24Speaker 1: Yo, let me just tell you something. You seasoned the
- 33:27Speaker 1: heck out of this. It's so good. And we've had
- 33:31Speaker 1: the reto nachos before, but yours may have ranked up
- 33:36Speaker 1: the highest. Gone, all right, it's hard to stop eating, girl,
- 33:44Speaker 1: this is awesome. Yeah, trying not to eat into the mic,
- 33:52Speaker 1: but we're gonna take two seconds to eat these. Man,
- 33:56Speaker 1: Oh my goodness. Bread. I was gonna ask you why
- 34:00Speaker 1: you don't use the salt.
- 34:01Speaker 2: Cheese then cheese, because I feel like they make them
- 34:04Speaker 2: too stalgy.
- 34:10Speaker 1: The hollow panos are a must. Hallow panos are a must.
- 34:14Speaker 2: The fresh ones.
- 34:15Speaker 1: If the peppers and the meat everything comes together. The
- 34:18Speaker 1: sauce makes sense, sour cream makes sense. What ingredient? Did
- 34:22Speaker 1: I not add the onions? You added the onions in.
- 34:23Speaker 2: Yours, but you got the onions and your meat.
- 34:26Speaker 1: Have you heard of that Brooklyn Queen, she's from Detroit.
- 34:29Speaker 1: She did the fried fly flower ones. Okay, and I
- 34:33Speaker 1: do this on the show all the time. When a
- 34:35Speaker 1: dish is really good, I'll go home and perpetrate. I'll
- 34:39Speaker 1: pretend because people like I don't know, they don't like
- 34:42Speaker 1: my family. Like then I'm watching the show, so it'll
- 34:45Speaker 1: come over or like with my husband, I'll just drop
- 34:49Speaker 1: a dish from this show. But he's smart, he'll be like,
- 34:53Speaker 1: I know, that's the eating while broke dish. She can
- 34:54Speaker 1: always figure out the eating while broke because it's something new,
- 34:57Speaker 1: it's something new. Brooklyn had done the flower. She fried
- 35:00Speaker 1: the flower tortillas. So I literally for three days straight
- 35:04Speaker 1: was going home like anyone that came over a visit,
- 35:06Speaker 1: I got some for you. I geta tacos. I did it.
- 35:08Speaker 1: We went to Texas. I did it in Texas. I
- 35:10Speaker 1: was a girl. I never did tacos before, but I
- 35:13Speaker 1: was doing tacos everything over the fried flower tortillas.
- 35:16Speaker 2: It's the best.
- 35:17Speaker 1: And my twin was like, yo, I love them. And
- 35:19Speaker 1: I just don't give no one from eating while broke credit.
- 35:24Speaker 1: If I made this dish, I will never give you
- 35:27Speaker 1: the credit. I will steal your shine.
- 35:29Speaker 2: It's all good.
- 35:32Speaker 1: But I'm just gonna go to labret bites. Is it
- 35:35Speaker 1: Brittany bites, the whole your Brittany bites. I'm gonna go
- 35:39Speaker 1: over there, steal the recipes, perpetrate some more within no
- 35:44Speaker 1: credit to you. Is that terrible?
- 35:47Speaker 2: What people steal my ideas all the time when you
- 35:49Speaker 2: create greatness and it's I don't even call it stealing,
- 35:52Speaker 2: it you just inspired.
- 35:53Speaker 1: I'm inspired, all right. It's actually like a homage of
- 35:57Speaker 1: how great it is.
- 35:58Speaker 2: Yeah, it's really a good thing. I literally just had
- 36:00Speaker 2: this conversation with my son yesterday, really literally, I told
- 36:03Speaker 2: him because he had a situation, and I said, listen, son,
- 36:07Speaker 2: when you are a creator, especially a creator of genius
- 36:11Speaker 2: ideas and put it out into the universe, is no
- 36:13Speaker 2: longer yours and you can't. You have to learn to
- 36:17Speaker 2: appreciate when people are inspired by your greatness.
- 36:21Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean it's it's technically stealing, but no, because
- 36:25Speaker 1: it would be inspired if I built around it.
- 36:27Speaker 2: But I don't think anything is original. I think everything
- 36:31Speaker 2: has been inspired a BYT something or somebody, you know whatever.
- 36:35Speaker 1: All right, we'll rate this dish the best dorrito nachos,
- 36:38Speaker 1: the dorrito nachos the four times we had dorito nachos,
- 36:42Speaker 1: yours is the best, mainly because of flavor, consistency, texture.
- 36:48Speaker 1: I think everything was fresh presentation. So for everyone listening, yeah,
- 36:54Speaker 1: the dorrito nachos Love Brittany nachos style, look, love nachos
- 36:59Speaker 1: is the best. Nachos. Thank you, Yeah, there we go.
- 37:02Speaker 2: Thank you, thank you, thank you very much.
- 37:05Speaker 1: What are some things that you could share to inspire
- 37:08Speaker 1: other moms that kind of are going through, maybe not
- 37:12Speaker 1: even teen moms, just single moms. Just think being a
- 37:14Speaker 1: single moms. I had to do it for a couple
- 37:17Speaker 1: of years, and I'll tell you right now, I'd rather
- 37:20Speaker 1: I'll do a deal with the devil because I think
- 37:22Speaker 1: it's that hard.
- 37:23Speaker 2: Really not a deal with life for real.
- 37:26Speaker 1: Hell no, I just think it's really hard. It's emotionally
- 37:30Speaker 1: taxing on top of the balancing act, especially when your
- 37:33Speaker 1: kids are getting out of school midday where you're dropping
- 37:36Speaker 1: them off and you're picking them up. I tell my girlfriend,
- 37:39Speaker 1: it's that the fact that you got to stop your
- 37:41Speaker 1: work and then turn I call it turn into a
- 37:43Speaker 1: pumpkin time. I'm about to turn into punk And once
- 37:46Speaker 1: I pick up that kid, I'm a mom full time.
- 37:48Speaker 1: Then I don't get to turn back into a worker
- 37:51Speaker 1: until they're at school. So what advice would you give
- 37:55Speaker 1: in that error.
- 37:58Speaker 2: The first piece of advice I would get is never
- 38:02Speaker 2: forget to take care of yourself. So it's like, even
- 38:06Speaker 2: in those little down times when the baby is sleep
- 38:10Speaker 2: do something for yourself that make you feel good. I
- 38:12Speaker 2: know you may not even because half the time you
- 38:14Speaker 2: don't feel like you don't feel like doing your hair,
- 38:16Speaker 2: you don't feel like putting on no clothes, you don't
- 38:18Speaker 2: feel like taking a bath, you don't feel like getting
- 38:20Speaker 2: your nails done. But force yourself to do something for
- 38:25Speaker 2: yourself that is gonna boost your confidence and make you
- 38:29Speaker 2: feel good. Make you look because when you look good,
- 38:32Speaker 2: you feel good. So take care of yourself. Because as
- 38:37Speaker 2: a mother, we wake up the first thing on our
- 38:40Speaker 2: mind is we gotta be the kid yep.
- 38:42Speaker 1: Or I call it a subtraction. I'm like, nobody's better
- 38:44Speaker 1: at subtraction than a mom, because all you're doing is
- 38:46Speaker 1: take you ten minutes to go here, ten minutes, twenty minutes,
- 38:49Speaker 1: twenty minutes for five minutes, and then you gotta calculate
- 38:51Speaker 1: the time they get to the car and what they
- 38:52Speaker 1: do in the stall of Yeah, I do numbers on
- 38:55Speaker 1: if you hang out with me, I'll do this And
- 38:59Speaker 1: people be like, what are you doing. I'm like, I'm
- 39:00Speaker 1: counting time.
- 39:01Speaker 2: So when you count in time, make sure you count
- 39:03Speaker 2: some minutes to do something for yourself that's gonna make
- 39:07Speaker 2: that you love that make you feel good, even if
- 39:09Speaker 2: that means having to wake up an hour early before
- 39:12Speaker 2: your kids get up so you can read your favorite book,
- 39:15Speaker 2: so you can work out. Just do. Don't forget about yourself. Yeah,
- 39:20Speaker 2: don't forget about yourself.
- 39:21Speaker 1: Yeah. And I agree with you with making yourself look good,
- 39:24Speaker 1: because if you notice, when you get your hair done
- 39:27Speaker 1: or your now it's done, you sit differently, like let's
- 39:30Speaker 1: go out to the playground, or let's go out and
- 39:34Speaker 1: do any.
- 39:34Speaker 2: When you got when you're looking cute in the grocery store,
- 39:36Speaker 2: you walk down them ales different then when you just
- 39:38Speaker 2: got on some sweats and a hoodie, you're running. But
- 39:42Speaker 2: I just remember those days when my sons were younger,
- 39:45Speaker 2: and it is hard you not thinking about yourself. I
- 39:48Speaker 2: remember the days of wake up at six o'clock in
- 39:50Speaker 2: the morning, get them, just dropped them off at school,
- 39:52Speaker 2: come home. I got a couple of hours to get
- 39:53Speaker 2: some work done, and then I got to pick them
- 39:55Speaker 2: up from school, and then I got to take them
- 39:56Speaker 2: football pratice, and I got to pick them up from
- 39:57Speaker 2: football practice, and then after that I'm gonna go to
- 39:59Speaker 2: the studio. I think one thing that I always did
- 40:02Speaker 2: and this was unconsciously. I always did make that time
- 40:07Speaker 2: for myself. Like during that era, it was me sticking
- 40:10Speaker 2: to my music. Okay, okay, So it's like I would
- 40:13Speaker 2: do all those mother things. I would cook dinner for
- 40:15Speaker 2: them eight o'clock, got them in bed, aby nine, and
- 40:17Speaker 2: then my studio session started at nine thirty.
- 40:19Speaker 1: I'm out.
- 40:19Speaker 2: So it was I didn't. I never saw it like that.
- 40:23Speaker 1: But that's a great way to think about it too,
- 40:25Speaker 1: because people would assume that taking care of yourself is
- 40:28Speaker 1: just nails and hair and a bath, but you're right
- 40:31Speaker 1: pursuing your dream, your passion.
- 40:33Speaker 2: Yes, wow. Yeah. And now that I'm like both my
- 40:37Speaker 2: sons are adults now and now that I just have
- 40:39Speaker 2: time to reflect really and I do a lot of videos,
- 40:42Speaker 2: escially on my TikTok. I tell women these things, like
- 40:45Speaker 2: what we're talking about right now. I do get Ready
- 40:47Speaker 2: with Me videos and they are very viral videos as well,
- 40:52Speaker 2: where I tell women to prioritize yourself A lot of times,
- 40:55Speaker 2: especially when you become a mom, is like life is
- 40:58Speaker 2: all about being a mom, and yeah it is, but
- 41:01Speaker 2: guess what them kids gonna grow up. And trust me,
- 41:03Speaker 2: when your kids grow up, they grow up and they
- 41:06Speaker 2: are their own individual seals. They are you feel me,
- 41:10Speaker 2: that's the real.
- 41:11Speaker 1: And when did your boys start to really separate and
- 41:13Speaker 1: have their own identity for themselves?
- 41:15Speaker 2: When they hit that fourteen is when it begins. When
- 41:18Speaker 2: they hit sixteen is when they get real.
- 41:21Speaker 1: But now you have these because I hear about boy
- 41:24Speaker 1: moms right, like you have these guys that just like
- 41:26Speaker 1: absolutely love you. Right, They're like they protect you to
- 41:30Speaker 1: ends right.
- 41:32Speaker 2: They love me. But it's always been very important for
- 41:35Speaker 2: me as a mom to be a realist with my boys.
- 41:39Speaker 2: And I've had no choice too, because we grew up together.
- 41:43Speaker 2: It's so funny because when we aut in public, everybody
- 41:45Speaker 2: think they my man, literally like they beat me. And
- 41:50Speaker 2: so when we out sometimes I'd be like, y'all walk
- 41:52Speaker 2: ahead of me because I ain't gonna never get a man.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Ain't nobody gonna approach me if we all together. But
- 41:58Speaker 2: it's funny because people look at us and they we
- 42:01Speaker 2: are like a circus show to people, like what you're
- 42:04Speaker 2: the mom? Oh my god, it's so funny. But yeah,
- 42:07Speaker 2: they're my best friends. I love them. They taught me
- 42:09Speaker 2: how to love unconditionally. They taught me to have incredible
- 42:14Speaker 2: patience truly, and they taught me how to not be
- 42:19Speaker 2: controlling because I learned through my kids that the only
- 42:26Speaker 2: person and thing you can truly control in this world
- 42:29Speaker 2: is myself. As parents, we think we can control them
- 42:34Speaker 2: until they show you like please, and then you got
- 42:38Speaker 2: to winness. The two different personalities too, oh yeah, because
- 42:42Speaker 2: they're not. Are they the same kind of or No,
- 42:43Speaker 2: they're different. I hear stories about that all the time,
- 42:45Speaker 2: Like one kid comes out this way, another one it
- 42:47Speaker 2: comes out different. My kids are like they mayenne and Mayaan,
- 42:51Speaker 2: they night and day like, but they both equally parts
- 42:55Speaker 2: and me. It's so funny because my oldest son is
- 42:58Speaker 2: me and then my youngest son is me too, but
- 43:00Speaker 2: it's I'm a Gemini. So it's like they're literally not
- 43:04Speaker 2: even the way they look night and day.
- 43:06Speaker 1: Really, that's crazy.
- 43:07Speaker 2: I needed that though. I needed that balance for the
- 43:10Speaker 2: of them both in my life like I wouldn't. I
- 43:13Speaker 2: would totally not be the libritty I am right now
- 43:16Speaker 2: without them, of course, but I definitely do know just
- 43:21Speaker 2: their opposite energies definitely help keep me alive. It fuels
- 43:26Speaker 2: me in a way that I need in his life time.
- 43:29Speaker 1: Yeah, so tell us a little bit more about the newest,
- 43:32Speaker 1: latest musical project.
- 43:35Speaker 2: So, I'm actually gearing up to release an EP. It's
- 43:38Speaker 2: titled Limis. It's a couple of.
- 43:42Speaker 1: Your original viral clip right, Yeah, Okay, I like that.
- 43:47Speaker 1: So are is there going to be any of.
- 43:48Speaker 2: The No, It's this one is called Limix. It's a
- 43:53Speaker 2: combination of a couple of records that have already been
- 43:56Speaker 2: released along with a couple of new records. So I'm
- 43:59Speaker 2: calling it I mixed because it's like a mixtape, some old,
- 44:02Speaker 2: it's some new, Like that's a mix of what you're
- 44:05Speaker 2: probably already heard in the mix of what you're about
- 44:07Speaker 2: to hear. I'm excited because it's the first body of
- 44:09Speaker 2: work I've put out since twenty eighteen. I've been in
- 44:13Speaker 2: the studio working on some really incredible music with some
- 44:16Speaker 2: really incredible producers. Yeah Camper, right you, Camper produced a
- 44:20Speaker 2: lot of the records that's on this project that's about
- 44:22Speaker 2: to release, and I'm grateful. I'm excited. I have a
- 44:26Speaker 2: great team of people I've been working with. Shout out
- 44:29Speaker 2: to Gin.
- 44:30Speaker 1: You keep sitting back, come closer.
- 44:32Speaker 2: Shout out to Gin. She set up this interview. Oh yeah,
- 44:34Speaker 2: here and my Music. It's been getting playlisted on editorial playlist,
- 44:39Speaker 2: Apple Music and on Spotify, so it's just growing. I
- 44:42Speaker 2: have amazing features. I'm grateful. I'm thankful. I love to create.
- 44:46Speaker 2: My favorite thing to do is to be in the
- 44:48Speaker 2: studio and to be on the stage. So I really
- 44:51Speaker 2: can't wait to get back on the road and start
- 44:52Speaker 2: doing shows and connecting with my fans.
- 44:54Speaker 1: And when can we expect that? Do you have any
- 44:57Speaker 1: dates lined up? Are you working that out?
- 44:58Speaker 2: I'm working it out. As soon as I get them dates.
- 45:01Speaker 2: I will let you know because you should pull up.
- 45:03Speaker 1: I will, yes, I will, And I'll maybe bring a
- 45:06Speaker 1: bag of groceries, some flower tortillas.
- 45:10Speaker 2: The after party, you can make some tacos.
- 45:12Speaker 1: Okay, that's what I'm talking. Okay, cool? And then are
- 45:15Speaker 1: there any special guests outside of Cheryl being on the assault?
- 45:19Speaker 1: Cheryl being on the record.
- 45:21Speaker 2: You gotta listen, you gotta live this, gotta listen to
- 45:25Speaker 2: see who gonna be on that record?
- 45:27Speaker 1: And then are you fully managing every project from beginning
- 45:30Speaker 1: to end? Now? Are you the manager artists? Are you
- 45:33Speaker 1: playing every role as an independent?
- 45:36Speaker 2: Oh? No, I have a team that helps me with
- 45:38Speaker 2: things I do oversee business, I stay involved in the
- 45:43Speaker 2: business of my business, but I truly believe in building
- 45:47Speaker 2: a team and trusting people to play their part and
- 45:51Speaker 2: do their j and that's really what creates real success.
- 45:56Speaker 2: You can't.
- 45:58Speaker 1: That's burnout now being independent? Do you feel like you
- 46:02Speaker 1: prefer over being scigned to a major.
- 46:06Speaker 2: No, I think being independent is beautiful. Being independent is
- 46:12Speaker 2: also a different form of not having all of the teams.
- 46:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 46:17Speaker 2: So it just sucks that a lot of these major
- 46:20Speaker 2: deals are so trash these days, and people are stuck
- 46:24Speaker 2: in deals and not being paid what they deserve and
- 46:27Speaker 2: not really seeing the success that they deserve because majors
- 46:31Speaker 2: aren't being fair. But I do love the operation of
- 46:37Speaker 2: a major label. They have tons of departments that's dedicated
- 46:41Speaker 2: to specific tasks to help us artist be successful. So
- 46:46Speaker 2: that operation is necessary if you want to see global
- 46:50Speaker 2: success as an artist. So I do pray that one
- 46:53Speaker 2: day I'm able to do a deal that's fair, that
- 46:57Speaker 2: makes sense, where everybody eats, able to have all of
- 47:01Speaker 2: those elements that truly elevate and makes my product and
- 47:06Speaker 2: my music successful.
- 47:07Speaker 1: I'm glad you said that, because I think a lot
- 47:09Speaker 1: like the New Age is like independent, independent, But I
- 47:12Speaker 1: think acknowledging the importance of having an elaborate team. It's key,
- 47:18Speaker 1: all right, Where can everybody keep up with Love Britney, y'all?
- 47:22Speaker 2: Go? Follow me on my Instagram, my TikTok, my subscribe
- 47:26Speaker 2: to my YouTube channel. Everything is my name, Love Brittany,
- 47:29Speaker 2: La Brittany. It's Love Brittany, though not La Brittany. Okay,
- 47:33Speaker 2: I'm from Detroit. I ain't even from La. But it's
- 47:36Speaker 2: funny though, because people they'd be so shocked, Like, your
- 47:39Speaker 2: name is really love I love it though it's my
- 47:41Speaker 2: mama name me loved like Brittany with an apostrophe. It
- 47:46Speaker 2: short does have an apostrophe, but I think it's because
- 47:48Speaker 2: you see the capital L where you just keep going
- 47:51Speaker 2: and a capital B, so it's separated.
- 47:54Speaker 1: Yeah. But actually, now that I think about it, it
- 47:57Speaker 1: makes more sense to love Brittany.
- 47:59Speaker 2: Yeah, love Brandy. So yeah. Just subscribe to my YouTube,
- 48:02Speaker 2: Follow me on Instagram, follow me on TikTok, follow me
- 48:05Speaker 2: on twitch.
- 48:07Speaker 1: I'm on everything and download guys, download download, download.
- 48:11Speaker 2: Go stream run up, go buy if you can buy
- 48:14Speaker 2: the music, that is more helpful to any artists you
- 48:17Speaker 2: know streaming download the single, Yes, because at least, if
- 48:22Speaker 2: you download the single, you're getting a dollar. If you
- 48:25Speaker 2: stream it you getting zero point one cent.
- 48:28Speaker 1: Oh I didn't know that.
- 48:29Speaker 2: Yeah, so it's always more helpful to download and buy
- 48:33Speaker 2: an artist music, but a lot of people ain't trying
- 48:36Speaker 2: to buy because they are already paying streaming services a
- 48:38Speaker 2: monthly fee. But either way, I appreciate whatever kind of
- 48:41Speaker 2: support when it comes to my music.
- 48:43Speaker 1: I love how you broke that down too, because I
- 48:45Speaker 1: didn't know that, because I just honestly, you go to
- 48:47Speaker 1: a streaming service, you don't see the option to really buy, You.
- 48:51Speaker 2: Just click because they don't offer that option.
- 48:54Speaker 1: Damn, you were educated here first. Thanks for tuning in.
- 48:58Speaker 1: Peace out y'all. For more eating while broke from iHeartRadio
