- 0:02Speaker 1: This is a bramble Jam podcast. Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark,
- 0:24Speaker 1: a Hallmark review podcast. I'm Megan and I'm a longtime
- 0:26Speaker 1: Hallmark fan. I'm Wendy, I'm a former Hallmark hater. On
- 0:31Speaker 1: today's episode, we will be discussing She's Making a List,
- 0:34Speaker 1: which originally premiered on the Hallmark Channel on Saturday, December sixth,
- 0:37Speaker 1: and is currently available to stream on Hallmark Plus. We
- 0:42Speaker 1: have been loving the reviews. You're leaving four Girls Gone
- 0:46Speaker 1: Hallmark in your favorite podcast app and I would like
- 0:49Speaker 1: to read a quick review to show you just how
- 0:51Speaker 1: easy it is to make our day and support the podcast.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Ryan says, love this podcast so much. Megan and Wendy
- 0:58Speaker 1: are amazing and hilarious. Definitely my favorite Hallmark podcast of
- 1:03Speaker 1: all hilarious. Every time someone tells us we're funny, We're like,
- 1:09Speaker 1: are we? I know? Wow, I'll take it. Wow. What
- 1:15Speaker 1: a Christmas miracle? That feels like a completely free present exactly.
- 1:21Speaker 1: I love that you're looking at me for what's next. Hey,
- 1:24Speaker 1: if you want to come join our Facebook group where
- 1:28Speaker 1: I think Ryan is a member, We're at Girls Gone
- 1:31Speaker 1: Hallmark and Facebook groups. Question for you, have you recovered
- 1:35Speaker 1: from Mary Thanksgiving weekend, I feel like, no, we haven't
- 1:38Speaker 1: even gotten a break. We're just like diving back in.
- 1:41Speaker 1: First of all, I would like to say, I don't
- 1:42Speaker 1: think my Golden Girls meme on Instagram got enough love
- 1:47Speaker 1: for as funny as I thought. Oh it landed for
- 1:49Speaker 1: me tell our stories? Yeah for funny, right, yes, thank you,
- 1:55Speaker 1: thank you. I needed that. No, I am fully underwater.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Are in every area of my life. So do not
- 2:02Speaker 1: let the fact that we are churning out episodes fast
- 2:05Speaker 1: and furious fool you. We are not, okay. I think
- 2:10Speaker 1: you can hear that in the Christmas at cat Nip Cafe.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Oh that's fully off the rails. Yeah, yeah, but here
- 2:18Speaker 1: we are again. We're back. I gotta tell you. Look
- 2:20Speaker 1: at the calendar. I'm like, we're in the home stretch.
- 2:23Speaker 1: It's happening. It's almost done. But the rest of my
- 2:25Speaker 1: life is also falling apart. So, you know, is anybody
- 2:29Speaker 1: getting a Christmas gift this year? Probably not. The floor
- 2:33Speaker 1: of my closet is just bags and bags of gifts. Great,
- 2:37Speaker 1: I'm gonna go rate it. So I think some gifts
- 2:40Speaker 1: for my family, some of them, many of them are
- 2:42Speaker 1: still in like the shipping packages, like they haven't even
- 2:45Speaker 1: been It's only December eighth. I know, but as you
- 2:48Speaker 1: and I discussed, based on my own personal scheduling, I
- 2:53Speaker 1: really am about ten days left. Like the last week
- 2:56Speaker 1: is fully off limits to me for any Christmas preps.
- 2:59Speaker 1: So ill it's thinking the other day while I was
- 3:02Speaker 1: in my closets where I do my best thinking, and
- 3:05Speaker 1: I was thinking, we really need to do what we
- 3:08Speaker 1: can to take the post Christmas through New Year's time
- 3:13Speaker 1: off you and I, You and I, even though new
- 3:18Speaker 1: episodes will be dropping, Yeah, we need to be ahead
- 3:21Speaker 1: of the game and we'll still be doing stuff. Yeah,
- 3:25Speaker 1: like the bracket. Yeah, if you didn't hear, we're gonna
- 3:27Speaker 1: do the bracket. I don't know when yet. I haven't
- 3:30Speaker 1: looked at the calendar. Maybe when we're done recording this episode,
- 3:33Speaker 1: we'll look at the calendar. That's a good idea exactly
- 3:35Speaker 1: what we're doing. Yeah, Because I actually was the other
- 3:37Speaker 1: day thinking, I had like this vision of a reel
- 3:40Speaker 1: in my head, be like coming December thirty, I don't know, Yeah, anyway,
- 3:46Speaker 1: like a hype video. Yes, yeah, yeah, bracket coming soon. Well,
- 3:51Speaker 1: let's talk. She's making a list, which I need to
- 3:54Speaker 1: do as well, with a synopsis A naughty or nice
- 3:58Speaker 1: inspector evaluating a girls Christmas status falls for her widowed father,
- 4:03Speaker 1: making her question the strict rules of her consulting firm
- 4:06Speaker 1: and forcing her to choose between protocol and love. She's
- 4:10Speaker 1: making a list. Was directed by Stacy and Harding. This
- 4:12Speaker 1: marks Stacy's sixteenth directing credit, and she's known for Hallmark
- 4:16Speaker 1: gems like Round and Round and Mystery One on One,
- 4:19Speaker 1: Deadly History. Some other titles that don't get talked about
- 4:22Speaker 1: enough are Love Classified and Christmas Sale. Remember Christmas Sale?
- 4:26Speaker 1: You know is? I had kind of forgotten about it?
- 4:28Speaker 1: But yes, that father Doughter storyline hit hard That's a
- 4:33Speaker 1: good movie. It does not get talked about, No, it
- 4:35Speaker 1: does not. Is it from twenty twenty twenty twenty one?
- 4:38Speaker 1: Like around that time? Right early? But I don't think
- 4:40Speaker 1: twenty I don't think twenty twenty, twenty twenty one, twenty
- 4:44Speaker 1: twenty two. Yeah. Maybe The script comes from Joey de Paolo, who,
- 4:49Speaker 1: according to IMDb, has only three writing credits, but Joey
- 4:53Speaker 1: is credited with writing Hallmarks and American and Austin from
- 4:57Speaker 1: twenty twenty four. This marks his second Hallmarks green Play.
- 5:00Speaker 1: I did do a little googling because when I went
- 5:04Speaker 1: to IMDb and I saw like he only had like
- 5:05Speaker 1: three writing credits, I was like, something's not adding up here.
- 5:09Speaker 1: This is kind of a big movie for like a
- 5:12Speaker 1: new new writer. So then I found he had a
- 5:14Speaker 1: website and then he did American in Austin, but it
- 5:18Speaker 1: wasn't on IMDb. Yes, hey, Joey, update your eye, get
- 5:22Speaker 1: your people on that. Lacy Shabert stars is Isabelle. She
- 5:26Speaker 1: also serves as executive producer on this movie. We last
- 5:29Speaker 1: saw Lacey and Hall at the Halloween, and she will
- 5:32Speaker 1: star in the forthcoming Lost in Paradise opposite Ian Harding.
- 5:35Speaker 1: In January twenty twenty six. Andrew Walker co stars as Jason.
- 5:40Speaker 1: This makes movie number five this year for Andrew, The
- 5:43Speaker 1: Reluctant Royal Adventures in Love and Birding, Three Wisest Men
- 5:47Speaker 1: and Parents in Holiday Touchdown, A Bill's Love Story five
- 5:52Speaker 1: five titles for This Man, Busy Man, Caden's Compton Placed Charlie.
- 5:56Speaker 1: This is her fourth Hallmark appearance and she has been
- 5:59Speaker 1: seen the movie movies like an Easter Bloom and Sweeter
- 6:02Speaker 1: Than Chocolate. Ella Sandro Miro plays Giuseppe with forty nine
- 6:07Speaker 1: acting credits. We last saw him in The Santa Class
- 6:09Speaker 1: as Blaze. Steve Basic appears as Rudolph. We last saw
- 6:13Speaker 1: Steve on Hallmark Plus in Back to Back Aurora t
- 6:15Speaker 1: Garden Mysteries from twenty twenty four. Larisa Tronco plays Heidi
- 6:19Speaker 1: with twenty eight acting credits. Larisa has appeared in other
- 6:23Speaker 1: Hallmark movies like Private, Princess Christmas and Love Classified Mystery.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Wano One fans know her as Lacey Daniels from the
- 6:30Speaker 1: first two movies. Bjay Harrison plays Wanda. She has a
- 6:34Speaker 1: whopping one hundred forty nine acting credits. We last saw
- 6:37Speaker 1: her on Hallmark in Holidays. Antonio Coyone plays Oscar Now
- 6:43Speaker 1: side note. When Antonio showed up in this movie, did
- 6:46Speaker 1: you immediately think of Friend of the Show Holly? I did.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Holly is an Antonio super fan. I'm pretty sure she
- 6:53Speaker 1: is the one who coined the term Coyone fans for
- 6:57Speaker 1: his fan Instagram account. Love That. Antonio has forty nine
- 7:01Speaker 1: acting credits and last appeared in Christmas Under the Lights
- 7:04Speaker 1: and The Real West, both in twenty twenty four. Kurt
- 7:08Speaker 1: Long appears as the Santa impersonator. He might look familiar
- 7:11Speaker 1: to you, as he's appeared recently in Three Wisest Men
- 7:15Speaker 1: and Adventures in Love and Burning. Dax Spellinger plays Santa.
- 7:19Speaker 1: He has thirty five acting credits, with roles in North
- 7:22Speaker 1: By North Pole, A dial S Mystery, and dial S
- 7:27Speaker 1: for Santa. That's so interesting. Those titles are so similar,
- 7:31Speaker 1: And when I was putting this, I was like, did
- 7:33Speaker 1: he play Santa and all those movies? Those movies are
- 7:36Speaker 1: not Hallmark movies, but definitely has our strong Santa Santa vibes. Yep,
- 7:41Speaker 1: Let's take a quick break and come back with our
- 7:43Speaker 1: first impressions. Hey, Wendy, what is your first impression of
- 7:55Speaker 1: She's making a list. I'm not saying I googled skin
- 7:59Speaker 1: Mason for my husband after this movie. But I'm also
- 8:01Speaker 1: not not saying that if you guys don't know what
- 8:04Speaker 1: skin Mason is, maybe I just get served so many
- 8:07Speaker 1: skin Mason ads because I'm in the Hallmark world. Skin
- 8:11Speaker 1: Mason is owned by Andrew Walker, which is like a
- 8:13Speaker 1: skincare line. It's a little confusing. I don't know if
- 8:16Speaker 1: it's for men only or for it's for men and
- 8:18Speaker 1: women only, but I thought Andrew really good in this movie,
- 8:20Speaker 1: and I was like, does my husband need those products?
- 8:23Speaker 1: Did he have work done? Or is it skin Mason
- 8:25Speaker 1: And maybe it's skid Mason. I don't know. I'm into it.
- 8:29Speaker 1: My first impression is I spent the entire movie waiting
- 8:31Speaker 1: for the Fred Klaus style reveal of there are no
- 8:34Speaker 1: naughty kids, and I was not disappointed. You lost me
- 8:37Speaker 1: at Fred Claus. Well, that's that. Is that the tam
- 8:42Speaker 1: Allan movie. No no, no, no, no, no, no, no no no.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Put some respect on Vince Vaughn's name. Oh wow, I
- 8:49Speaker 1: do love Vince Vaughn. I recently saw Vince Vaughn in
- 8:51Speaker 1: something and he looked really good. Anyway, Fred Klaus, I
- 8:56Speaker 1: have watched too many Christmas movie Everything is blending together
- 9:00Speaker 1: for me right now. Let me let me, let's get
- 9:02Speaker 1: let me tell you about it. Please unpackage for me.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Fred Klaus is the story of Fred Klaus, who is
- 9:06Speaker 1: the brother of Santa Claus. Okay, Saint Nicholas. Vince Vaughan
- 9:11Speaker 1: plays the brother and they have a troubled relationship because
- 9:14Speaker 1: of course Saint Nicholas is the golden child MM and
- 9:18Speaker 1: always was. Well, he needs money from his brother his
- 9:21Speaker 1: father's like, I'll give it to you, but you got
- 9:22Speaker 1: to come help me out of the North Pole. He
- 9:23Speaker 1: goes to the North Pole. He happens to be there
- 9:26Speaker 1: while the Inspector is there, who is played by Kevin Spacey,
- 9:31Speaker 1: trying to get the North Pole shut down. Double V
- 9:35Speaker 1: makes a choice. He's working the naughty and Nice list,
- 9:37Speaker 1: got It. He's stamping the kids naughty nice, naughty nice.
- 9:40Speaker 1: And then he has this realization based on his own
- 9:44Speaker 1: childhood where he was the troubled brother. And he also
- 9:48Speaker 1: has a relationship with a young kid named Slam who's
- 9:51Speaker 1: kind of going through it. Ends up in a group
- 9:53Speaker 1: home and he's like, there's no naughty kids. Every kid
- 9:55Speaker 1: deserves a gift at present at Christmas. So you're saying
- 9:59Speaker 1: that this is similar to that movie inspired by Got It.
- 10:03Speaker 1: I really love the reveal the no naughty Kids. It's
- 10:07Speaker 1: a very silly movie, but there's a very sweet Christmas
- 10:12Speaker 1: morning montage at the end. Huh. Fred Claus also has
- 10:15Speaker 1: the best North Pole I think I've seen in a
- 10:19Speaker 1: Christmas movie. Oh really? How so, it's just incredibly well done.
- 10:24Speaker 1: The little north Pole town. It looks cute, it's cute,
- 10:27Speaker 1: it's not in Delaware. It's not in Delaware. Okay, can
- 10:30Speaker 1: we talk about what we liked about this movie? I
- 10:32Speaker 1: have a Philly Mega didn't like this movie. Guys, Oh
- 10:34Speaker 1: I did like this movie. You should see my list
- 10:37Speaker 1: of likes. I have a good long list of likes.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Can I start. It's a little bit piggybacking off of
- 10:43Speaker 1: what you just talked about with the Fred Klaus. My
- 10:46Speaker 1: first like is that it's telling us that life isn't
- 10:50Speaker 1: naughty or nice, that it is shades of gray, that
- 10:53Speaker 1: people are murky and messy, and kids behave for certain reasons,
- 10:59Speaker 1: and adults overreact for certain reasons, and life is not tidy.
- 11:04Speaker 1: I was very drawn to this message. I agree with
- 11:10Speaker 1: this message. I think it's interesting how they wove this
- 11:16Speaker 1: like algorithm storyline into this thing of like, oh, you're
- 11:20Speaker 1: either this or that. You can't be in the middle,
- 11:23Speaker 1: Like there's no explanation for why people do things. You're
- 11:28Speaker 1: either bad or good. I just thought that was an
- 11:30Speaker 1: interesting story to tell. Yeah, did you like heid how
- 11:35Speaker 1: she was like all in on clearing the name of
- 11:37Speaker 1: this kid who Isabelle was convinced had killed all the
- 11:41Speaker 1: other plants. But she was like I'm convinced what he
- 11:45Speaker 1: was actually doing here is trying to fertilize them. Right, Like,
- 11:48Speaker 1: She's like, we got to dig deeper, we got to
- 11:50Speaker 1: look for more. We can't just look for the evidence
- 11:52Speaker 1: that confirms our suspicions about these kids, right. I kind
- 11:57Speaker 1: of thought it was an interesting message because I think
- 12:00Speaker 1: right now in our lives, it's very much like, oh,
- 12:05Speaker 1: you support that, well, then you're in that box. Oh
- 12:08Speaker 1: you like that, will you're in that box? Like you know,
- 12:10Speaker 1: it's very dividing. I just thought there was a deeper
- 12:17Speaker 1: message here. Yes, a naughty act doesn't make someone a
- 12:20Speaker 1: naughty person, right in every case, in every case. I also,
- 12:25Speaker 1: if I can just continue on real quick, Isabelle's monologue
- 12:29Speaker 1: of Santa at the end, I thought was really interesting.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Her whole speech about labeling kids as naughty doesn't make
- 12:37Speaker 1: them nicer, it creates wounded adults. I thought it was
- 12:40Speaker 1: honestly compelling. See how it ties back to your Fred
- 12:44Speaker 1: Claus nice example. Maybe it's also because you and I
- 12:49Speaker 1: are both parents of almost adult children, and I think
- 12:53Speaker 1: we can like look at it with some perspective that
- 12:56Speaker 1: kids do things because you know they're acting out. Oh
- 13:00Speaker 1: and they're learning. Like, I just thought that was so compassionate.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Like this whole monologue, how she's talking about kids are
- 13:08Speaker 1: learning and they need adults not to shame them on
- 13:11Speaker 1: these things. They need the adults to help guide them. Yeah.
- 13:15Speaker 1: I just thought, Wow, that's an interesting theme that we're
- 13:20Speaker 1: exploring here. Call Mark. I do think it's an interesting thing.
- 13:23Speaker 1: I think this movie stepped outside of the norm in
- 13:25Speaker 1: a lot of ways, but there's a lot of you
- 13:27Speaker 1: need choices. I really enjoyed the opening animation. Oh yeah,
- 13:30Speaker 1: me too, Lazy's voiceover Sam explaining the premise, explaining the job,
- 13:35Speaker 1: who she is, just the kind of a lightwash of
- 13:37Speaker 1: her personal history as well. What about her breaking the
- 13:41Speaker 1: fourth wa I love it. Yeah. It gives this movie
- 13:45Speaker 1: like we're letting you in on this secret. Yes, we're
- 13:48Speaker 1: taking you behind the scenes. Yeah, I agree, And she
- 13:51Speaker 1: does it really well. Here's a piece of the story
- 13:53Speaker 1: that I loved. Charlie is talking to her dad and
- 13:58Speaker 1: she says, one year, Santa's handwriting change yes, And in
- 14:03Speaker 1: that moment I thought, oh, that's because she lost her mom.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Then the reveal that it was because Santa had deemed
- 14:10Speaker 1: her naughty and left her coal and dad had stepped
- 14:14Speaker 1: in to play the role of Santa so that she
- 14:17Speaker 1: wouldn't know. I just was like blown away by that choice.
- 14:22Speaker 1: I agree. I thought that was such That scene between
- 14:25Speaker 1: Andrew Walker and that child actress Cadence was really good.
- 14:30Speaker 1: His reaction to her, like he was like, oh, like
- 14:33Speaker 1: he kind of thought he was caught by her too,
- 14:35Speaker 1: and you know, she knows like something's up, Like I
- 14:39Speaker 1: felt like she knew something was up. I really really
- 14:43Speaker 1: liked that scene. I'm going to tell you there was
- 14:46Speaker 1: a scene where Jason reveals to Isabelle that he's the
- 14:51Speaker 1: one who had changed all the stuff about you know,
- 14:53Speaker 1: the Santa stuff. I had this like epiphany while I'm
- 14:55Speaker 1: watching this. This movie is treating Santa as truth, like
- 15:00Speaker 1: we have to totally we're living in their world, that
- 15:03Speaker 1: Santa is this real person who gives coal or gives gifts. Yes,
- 15:08Speaker 1: And I just thought that was really interesting, Like I
- 15:11Speaker 1: don't feel like a lot of movies do that. Am
- 15:14Speaker 1: I crazy? No, you're not crazy, but you're also not
- 15:17Speaker 1: a Christmas movie person. Yeah? True either. There are a
- 15:21Speaker 1: lot of movies like Fred Klaus, like The Santa Claus
- 15:24Speaker 1: that treat Santa like truth. Yeah, maybe I just haven't
- 15:28Speaker 1: really noticed it on Hallmark. You're right, I don't watch
- 15:30Speaker 1: a lot of Christmas movies, so for as many Christmas
- 15:33Speaker 1: movies as we do, we don't always do a lot
- 15:36Speaker 1: of Santa. Right. So you know we had the Santa
- 15:41Speaker 1: class last year with the Magical Santa. Yeah, regardless, I
- 15:45Speaker 1: liked the way they handled the truth about Santa. Yeah,
- 15:47Speaker 1: it's like the Secret of Santa, right. Yeah, it was
- 15:50Speaker 1: a really weird moment for me while watching. I was like, Oh,
- 15:54Speaker 1: we live in this world where Santa is real, Okay,
- 15:57Speaker 1: and then I just moved on with it. Anyway, that's
- 16:01Speaker 1: a me thing. Well, you talked about the character of
- 16:03Speaker 1: Charlie and the actress Cadence. I mean, what pitch perfect casting.
- 16:08Speaker 1: I enjoyed Charlie so much as this sassy preteen and
- 16:12Speaker 1: the way she just gives it to Isabelle. I think
- 16:15Speaker 1: her banter with Andrew and her banter with Lacy, I
- 16:19Speaker 1: really liked her. Now I need to know what you thought.
- 16:22Speaker 1: As the resident child hater of the team, I thought
- 16:27Speaker 1: this character arc of Charlie being a bad kid was
- 16:34Speaker 1: actually quite fascinating because homework rarely lets a child be messy.
- 16:40Speaker 1: In this sort of way. We have her like stealing money.
- 16:44Speaker 1: She does not love dad's new love life that's happening.
- 16:48Speaker 1: She's acting out because of grief. I thought it was
- 16:52Speaker 1: all really good, and this girl can act. She was great. Yeah,
- 16:59Speaker 1: you know, I'm notoriously don't love kids in movies. I
- 17:04Speaker 1: really liked this kid a lot. Now let me ask
- 17:07Speaker 1: you Andrew. His character Jason in this movie is a
- 17:11Speaker 1: food critic who now consults with restaurants to make them better.
- 17:14Speaker 1: I was like, is this a job at us? But yeah,
- 17:16Speaker 1: that's exactly what I thought that. That was exactly my question. Yeah,
- 17:20Speaker 1: did they make you rethink? I was like, are is
- 17:21Speaker 1: this us? That is that what we're doing? Is this
- 17:23Speaker 1: effing play about us? What's that from? I don't euphore you. Oh,
- 17:28Speaker 1: I've never seen that. I just noticed a TikTok sound. Yeah.
- 17:34Speaker 1: I thought about that for a hot second. But I
- 17:36Speaker 1: don't think we've ever This isn't a takedown. Our podcast
- 17:39Speaker 1: is not a takedown podcast. No, not by any means.
- 17:42Speaker 1: But it did make me pause when he was like, oh,
- 17:44Speaker 1: I used to be a food critic and I would
- 17:46Speaker 1: write bad reviews, Like oh, that's not us. But it
- 17:50Speaker 1: did make me pause for a minute. It didn't make
- 17:52Speaker 1: me pause. I want to talk about Jason and Isabelle
- 17:55Speaker 1: for a second. I loved how Lacey leaned into Isabelle's
- 17:58Speaker 1: like flashes of being taken off guard by Jason's good looks,
- 18:02Speaker 1: like especially when they first meet, like she does it
- 18:05Speaker 1: really well. They're tiny beats. There's like a little bit
- 18:07Speaker 1: of a double take, flustered, a little bit of a
- 18:10Speaker 1: stutter like it felt real and funny. Hmmm. I thought
- 18:15Speaker 1: their chemistry was super believable. Would you think of all
- 18:18Speaker 1: of her very limited disguises, She's like, I'm gonna put
- 18:21Speaker 1: on these glasses and now I am invisible. It wasn't
- 18:24Speaker 1: too hygieninxy for me, if that's what you're suggesting. No,
- 18:27Speaker 1: I wasn't. I just thought it was so funny. She's like,
- 18:30Speaker 1: I'm gonna wash this window and literally stare in at
- 18:33Speaker 1: them and nobody's going to see me. I mean, she
- 18:35Speaker 1: did walk around like she was invisible. She's not. Well,
- 18:41Speaker 1: I didn't hate it, you know what I did love.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Did you notice that the entire color palette for her
- 18:47Speaker 1: was like Kelly Christmas, Kelly green, Like everything she wasn't
- 18:51Speaker 1: always in green, but a majority of it was green. Yeah,
- 18:55Speaker 1: it was so esthetically pleasing for me to look at.
- 18:59Speaker 1: Did you was there any point at which you wondered
- 19:03Speaker 1: if Lacey's character and the team of people she worked
- 19:05Speaker 1: with were more magical than corporate Oh yeah, I think
- 19:09Speaker 1: I assumed that, But it feels like they're just people
- 19:14Speaker 1: who have contracted with Santa. Yeah. Kind of an interesting take,
- 19:18Speaker 1: right it is? I have one final like, oh, two
- 19:21Speaker 1: final likes. The opening scene where the two kids lay
- 19:24Speaker 1: Lacey Isabella is watching the two kids that are like
- 19:27Speaker 1: either playing with like a baseball or snowballs, I don't know, whatever,
- 19:30Speaker 1: and one kid throws it up in the air and
- 19:32Speaker 1: the other kid is kind of slow motion of like
- 19:35Speaker 1: watching the thing. Did this not remind you of Ralphie
- 19:38Speaker 1: from a Christmas Story where he's like, oh fudge. Nope,
- 19:43Speaker 1: because I hate that movie and refuse to watch it.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Really can't stand it makes me physically uncomfortable. Why everything
- 19:50Speaker 1: about it? It's not on your absolutely watch list. No,
- 19:54Speaker 1: although my husband likes the sequel, oh, he also hates
- 19:58Speaker 1: the first movie. Yes, it's so weird that you guys
- 20:01Speaker 1: both don't like the first movie. I also don't like
- 20:03Speaker 1: it's a wonderful life. Oh, I don't think I've ever
- 20:05Speaker 1: seen that one. It's depressing. I had thirty seconds of
- 20:08Speaker 1: hope at the end of the movie. The rest of
- 20:10Speaker 1: the movie is sad and depressing like real life. Yeah.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Oh okay, Well, I thought that first scene reminded me
- 20:16Speaker 1: a lot of a Christmas story. And finally, my last
- 20:20Speaker 1: thing I liked. I like it at the end where
- 20:23Speaker 1: our two toxic masculinity guys get their gifts because they're
- 20:29Speaker 1: on the makeup list. You know, it was a nice payoff. Yeah,
- 20:33Speaker 1: close that loop there, their inner child was touched. Yes, well,
- 20:38Speaker 1: let's talk wishes. Okay, I could have used some more
- 20:41Speaker 1: detail about Isabel's past. Agree, I think we could have
- 20:45Speaker 1: flashed her character out a little bit more. You know,
- 20:47Speaker 1: she says, there's me with my suitcase, so like she
- 20:50Speaker 1: lost her parents? Is she a foster child? Where did
- 20:53Speaker 1: she spend her time? What's going on there? You know,
- 20:57Speaker 1: what is the job that she does now? Her way
- 21:02Speaker 1: of like neatly categorizing things in a world that was
- 21:05Speaker 1: not neatly categorized for her as a child's I just
- 21:08Speaker 1: I could have used more. We just had hints of it. Well,
- 21:11Speaker 1: I could totally project onto that if I may, she
- 21:15Speaker 1: falls into this line of, like, like you said, neatly
- 21:18Speaker 1: categorizing things, maybe because her childhood was chaos. Sure right,
- 21:22Speaker 1: I mean that's a what I have learned in therapy
- 21:25Speaker 1: personally about myself. I'm gonna be cynical twice first of
- 21:29Speaker 1: my wishes. And then I did see that what do
- 21:33Speaker 1: we think about the amount of surveillance we're doing on
- 21:35Speaker 1: these children? Like they got straight up video that they
- 21:38Speaker 1: can go back and red check. Well, it's pretend and
- 21:42Speaker 1: ethically questionable. It is pretend, but they go like fire
- 21:45Speaker 1: it up. They're like, pull up the video. It walks
- 21:48Speaker 1: a line for me that these adults are watching children
- 21:53Speaker 1: all the time. It's all this video footage of children.
- 21:56Speaker 1: There's nobody who's going it's pretend. Okay. While I really
- 22:01Speaker 1: enjoy Lacey and Andrew in this movie, they are both
- 22:07Speaker 1: really good at what they do. I liked Isabelle, I
- 22:10Speaker 1: liked Jason. I think they make a nice team in
- 22:13Speaker 1: terms of working towards a resolution that works for Charlie.
- 22:18Speaker 1: But I like the misfriends and partners but not in
- 22:23Speaker 1: a romance. Really, I enjoyed it good. I enjoyed it.
- 22:30Speaker 1: There was never a part of me I was like, no,
- 22:31Speaker 1: this doesn't work. Who do you like to see her with? Otherwise?
- 22:36Speaker 1: I don't know who do you like to see him
- 22:38Speaker 1: with otherwise? Ashley Williams, Him and Ashley Williams. When were
- 22:42Speaker 1: they ever in anything to in your favorite freaking movie
- 22:45Speaker 1: Jingle Bell Run? Oh yes, that's right. I was gonna
- 22:48Speaker 1: say Rachel Boston because they were in that Birdie. Oh yeah,
- 22:51Speaker 1: really good in that movie. They were great too. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 22:53Speaker 1: I hear you, I hear you know. Sometimes I guess
- 22:56Speaker 1: like Homerk's like, we gotta put our two heavy hitters together.
- 22:58Speaker 1: Let's let's do that well. And I think I think
- 23:01Speaker 1: that works actually for this movie, because sometimes I'm like, uh,
- 23:05Speaker 1: you don't know. I thought they were great together, but
- 23:09Speaker 1: I didn't think it was like hot, fiery, steamy chemistry. Damn,
- 23:11Speaker 1: I'm fully having flashbacks to that dance scene in Jingle
- 23:15Speaker 1: Bell Run. Jingle War Runs hot. Yeah, you're right, so
- 23:18Speaker 1: is Adventures on Love and Burding. You're right, this isn't hot,
- 23:21Speaker 1: which is okay. Like I'm not hot and steamy either,
- 23:25Speaker 1: so but sometimes I want that in my entertainment yeah, Okay,
- 23:30Speaker 1: I buy what you're putting down. Okay, what did you
- 23:34Speaker 1: wish for? I wish the pacing had been a tiny
- 23:37Speaker 1: bit snappier. I felt like the movie was just a
- 23:41Speaker 1: hair slow. It's not enough to like make me turn
- 23:44Speaker 1: to my phone. Mm. But I'm not exactly sure if
- 23:50Speaker 1: it was the pacin or the structure or just how
- 23:52Speaker 1: much like they're trying to build out this world. Yes,
- 23:58Speaker 1: it's a lot of details, and like you like, we
- 24:00Speaker 1: missed the details of Isabelle's backstory, right, so maybe it
- 24:06Speaker 1: just wasn't like it didn't fully come together in that way.
- 24:10Speaker 1: My only other wish is just Seppi at the top
- 24:13Speaker 1: of the movie with the insults when he when he's
- 24:17Speaker 1: presenting the cookies to Isabelle and Heidi and he's like,
- 24:21Speaker 1: this one looks like you all scoalty face, and I
- 24:23Speaker 1: was like, that is rude, But it does close the circle.
- 24:29Speaker 1: Like he is a he was a naughty kid, he's
- 24:32Speaker 1: a not so great adult, right, and he gets his
- 24:35Speaker 1: just Seppi cookiees right, But like I thought, oh, I
- 24:39Speaker 1: took it personally. I thought it was funny, but also
- 24:41Speaker 1: I was like, yike, like are we talking about somebody's
- 24:47Speaker 1: is just naffing play about us. Look as someone who
- 24:52Speaker 1: does not have a pleasant resting face, I dug it
- 24:55Speaker 1: personally got it. That's it for my wishes. Let's talk.
- 24:58Speaker 1: Did you see that I have two? Okay, they're just
- 25:02Speaker 1: they're not true. Did you see that's one? Is a question.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Charlie and Jason go to pick out the ugliest tree,
- 25:10Speaker 1: and I have to ask you, do you assign human
- 25:13Speaker 1: emotions to inanimate objects? Yeah? Yeah, So do you feel
- 25:18Speaker 1: bad for tree if you were? I know you have
- 25:20Speaker 1: an artificial tree, but if you were to go pick
- 25:22Speaker 1: out a tree, do you feel bad about like the
- 25:24Speaker 1: ones that are left behind? Yeah? Yeah. When I think
- 25:27Speaker 1: about like December twenty third and there's still trees in
- 25:29Speaker 1: a tree lot that nothing happened, that makes me very sad. Yeah,
- 25:33Speaker 1: they have a loser lives to raw on a home
- 25:37Speaker 1: depot parking. Yeah, it's kind of sad, it is. I mean,
- 25:40Speaker 1: I have that feeling too. We were decorating our Christmas
- 25:43Speaker 1: tree with my daughter and I were going through a
- 25:45Speaker 1: bunch of ornaments that we haven't used in a long time,
- 25:47Speaker 1: and I was like, oh, let's just get rid of these,
- 25:49Speaker 1: and She's like, I can't do that. I was like, okay,
- 25:54Speaker 1: and then back in the box they went, yea, my
- 25:57Speaker 1: only other digite that was a Tears in Heaven reference,
- 26:03Speaker 1: which is an Eric Clapton song Andrew Walker casually references
- 26:07Speaker 1: one of the saddest songs of all time. Was not
- 26:10Speaker 1: on my Bengo card? Was he talking about? What was
- 26:12Speaker 1: he talking about? He was talking to the pizza shop owner.
- 26:15Speaker 1: When they were talking, they were it was in that scene.
- 26:18Speaker 1: I don't even remember what they were referring to, but
- 26:21Speaker 1: I was like Tears in Heaven. First of all, that
- 26:23Speaker 1: song came out thirty years ago. It is one of
- 26:27Speaker 1: the saddest songs. It's truly truly my did you see
- 26:32Speaker 1: That's are just things I enjoyed and would like to
- 26:33Speaker 1: point out. I enjoyed Lacey saying I have a well
- 26:35Speaker 1: traveled nose after she's identifying candle sense. I thought the
- 26:38Speaker 1: line was iconic. When Isabel and Jason are on their
- 26:43Speaker 1: date and Jason gets a phone call and he's like, oh, no,
- 26:46Speaker 1: Charlie came down with something. Because I'm a cynic, I'm like, no,
- 26:50Speaker 1: she didn't. This is a fake out call to get
- 26:51Speaker 1: out of the date. And then we realized, No, it's
- 26:53Speaker 1: just Charlie trying to ruin it, break their dataup. Yes,
- 26:56Speaker 1: I really liked the AI naughty your nice two point
- 27:00Speaker 1: reference as the bad guy. I don't know if you
- 27:04Speaker 1: noticed so much keto talk this weekend in both movies. Yes,
- 27:09Speaker 1: and also a not directly keto but similar sugar free
- 27:14Speaker 1: reference in another series we're going to be discussing this week.
- 27:17Speaker 1: Oh yeah, you're right, just a lot of keto. Yeah. Finally,
- 27:23Speaker 1: did you watch this movie live with commercials? No? Okay?
- 27:27Speaker 1: So on when on live television, Andrew and Lacy were
- 27:31Speaker 1: hosting it, and so during the commercial breaks we'd get
- 27:34Speaker 1: little bits with them, and at one point there was
- 27:38Speaker 1: a cookie bit. And Andrew's like, oh, think I'll stick
- 27:42Speaker 1: to juice, and he like drink because it doesn't he
- 27:43Speaker 1: have a juice company. Yes, well, cut to the next
- 27:45Speaker 1: commercial break. He does take a bite of cookie. It
- 27:48Speaker 1: is the tiniest piece of cookie you've ever seen. Oh,
- 27:51Speaker 1: this man doesn't any cookies. So there's no way, I mean,
- 27:52Speaker 1: zero percent body fat, there's no heat. I mean it's
- 27:54Speaker 1: like a corner of a gingerbread foot. It's amusing to me.
- 28:02Speaker 1: It amused me. Are you ready to rate. She's making
- 28:05Speaker 1: a list. I am. I gave it three and a
- 28:08Speaker 1: half stars. I gave it four and a half stars. Wow. Well,
