- 0:04Hello and welcome back to the episode of Bastard Lawrence
- 0:06here. How are you all doing?
- 0:07Hope you're doing great. For today's episode, I want to
- 0:09talk about Kemi Belenoc. Kemi Belenoc, whichever way you
- 0:13want to pronounce it, Nigerians or immigrants in the UK are not
- 0:18happy with Kemi. They've been complaining about
- 0:21Kemi and even Nigerians in Nigeria.
- 0:24The politicians, our leaders are not happy with Kemi because of
- 0:28the way Kemi has been representing Nigeria.
- 0:31Kemi has talked about her experience, about the police,
- 0:35about when she lived in Nigeria, about her education in Nigeria,
- 0:39about how not having light, having to study in darkness when
- 0:42she was in Nigeria. And most people are not happy
- 0:44about these things because according to them, Kemi is a
- 0:48sellout. Kemi is Uncle Tom.
- 0:51Kemi is trying to please the white people by throwing her
- 0:55people under the bus. Now I, I honestly, I am torn in
- 1:00terms of chemism situation because she is a leader of a
- 1:05party, a very large leading party in the UK who ruled for a
- 1:09very long time. So she has a duty to the party.
- 1:14And at the same time she's a Nigerian, she's a child of an
- 1:18immigrant, first generation immigrant.
- 1:21So she is swinging her hammer without even putting all those
- 1:27things into consideration. But at the same time, she's
- 1:29doing her job. OK.
- 1:32I understand people like emotional about it, people are
- 1:34angry about it, but Kemi is doing her job.
- 1:38I mean, if Nigerian politicians really liked her that much,
- 1:42because I remember there was a time she, I think she wanted to
- 1:46kind of advise be an advisor to the Nigerian government or
- 1:49something like that and she was kicked out.
- 1:53They literally told her to to fuck off.
- 1:58So care me. I don't think she got over that.
- 2:01So after she must have noticed that heartbreak, she decided to
- 2:08try for the Tory party and she won't became the leader.
- 2:12So you can now imagine in this whole thing, Nigerian government
- 2:16are now trying to suck up to her, trying to kind of, you
- 2:20know, now she's now in a very powerful position.
- 2:23They wanted her to represent Nigeria.
- 2:25She was like, no, I tried, that didn't work.
- 2:28So right now I am the leader of the Conservative Party and I
- 2:31have to put their best interest at heart.
- 2:35But at the same time, immigrants are losing it.
- 2:38Now, let me just play one of the videos that people complained
- 2:41about Kemi. They said that Kemi is a sellout
- 2:43because of her political views, not just her political views,
- 2:47but her views on immigration. They said that because of, you
- 2:53know, she being an immigrant, she should have done better or
- 2:58said better or. Anyway, from next year, 2
- 3:01million immigrants could automatically claim British
- 3:05citizenship. 2 million people. That's nearly twice the
- 3:08population of Birmingham. That's massive.
- 3:10We've introduced A deportation bill because we're committed to
- 3:14bringing immigration down. Back in February we demanded
- 3:17Labour triple the time for new immigrants to get a British
- 3:20passport. They voted it down and now
- 3:23they've brought in some half assed version That's not going
- 3:26to work. Here's what will work.
- 3:30Deport all foreign criminals. Mandatory age cheques.
- 3:34No more pretending to be kids. Tougher visa rules and salary
- 3:38thresholds. Disapply the Human Rights Act to
- 3:41immigration cases. No more abusing human rights
- 3:43laws to dodge deportations. Make asylum support repayable
- 3:48and no permanent right to stay in the UK if you've relied on
- 3:52benefits. Until that's law.
- 3:54We won't fix this. Labour should adopt it now.
- 3:58It's time to get tough. That's what the Conservatives
- 4:00deportation Bill delivers and we're going to go further.
- 4:04Our country is a home, not a hotel, and if we don't defend
- 4:08it, no one else will. So basically Kemi is trying to
- 4:17make, because normally the route to becoming to to have
- 4:23indefinitely to remain is five years.
- 4:25So what Kemi is trying to do, what Kemi and the party is
- 4:28proposing is 10 years. As you heard, she tried or they
- 4:32tried imposing that on Labour and Labour said no, they're not
- 4:34going to do it. So Labour is just kind of plain
- 4:37diplomatic. They don't want to upset the
- 4:40immigrants because their votes is also important to them.
- 4:43But Kemi is Kemi doesn't care. Kemi saying that if you're if
- 4:51you're an immigrant and you have indefinite leave to remain and
- 4:55for whatever reason, if you've been claiming benefits, you will
- 4:58not get a passport, you will be deported.
- 5:04And from five years route, she's proposing to move it to 10 years
- 5:09before. People are angry.
- 5:10Everybody is angry at Chemi, everybody saying that Chemi is a
- 5:13sellout, but I think the other people or the immigrants or Kemi
- 5:18is a minority group, We're thinking that's OK.
- 5:21They are the only ones that is angry with Kemi, that maybe the
- 5:25white British, they they must love her because you know, she's
- 5:28saying all these things. Although Reform is the one that
- 5:32is championing all this whole immigration club down, they are
- 5:34better than Tory party basically.
- 5:36But because Kemi is the one leading the Conservative Party,
- 5:41I think that is why eyes, all eyes are on her.
- 5:46But the immigrants or the 1st generation immigrants or people
- 5:54who have settled here, we're thinking that's OK, the white
- 5:57must love Kimmy. Like for her to be pandering
- 6:01like this, according to them, they must love her.
- 6:04Now they did a poll to say OK who is going to lead the Tory
- 6:08party in the next election and it came out that chemist scored
- 6:1239% and robots generic who is her?
- 6:19I think second in command or something like that scored I
- 6:22think 46% which they said wow. People were shocked.
- 6:31In fact, people celebrated on social media.
- 6:33Nigerians were celebrating on social media, Blacks were
- 6:37celebrating on social media because they said that wow.
- 6:41So we are not just the ones hating on chemi.
- 6:44Chemi has enemies everywhere, Kemi has enemies everywhere.
- 6:49So basically they're happy because if they don't vote her
- 6:55in, because Kemi is an immigrant, so she knows where
- 6:57all the bodies are buried. So basically she, she's talked
- 7:00to people. I mean, she's a Nigerian, so
- 7:02somehow somewhere she must have gone to parties or she must have
- 7:06heard people telling her things, how these things work or how
- 7:11immigrants manipulate the system.
- 7:12So Kemi is an insider working against the insiders, if that
- 7:17makes sense. So people are celebrating the
- 7:20fact that Kemi may not have the chance to even become the next
- 7:25Prime Minister. The there's a lot of videos on
- 7:28TikTok. There's a lot of people
- 7:31celebrating the fact that, oh, you know, after everything she
- 7:34has done, after everything she has said about her country,
- 7:38after throwing her country under the bus, after exposing every,
- 7:41every, you know, trick that Nigerians use in kind of getting
- 7:47their foods in this country. They said, you know, at the end
- 7:52of it all, you just give them the secret and they're just
- 7:55going to get a white man to do the job.
- 8:00And I looked at the whole thing and I'm like, these people must
- 8:04not be following UK politics, UK media.
- 8:08They are vicious. These people are crazy.
- 8:13Do you know, OK, the Prime Minister is white.
- 8:17The things they say about this man, I just laugh.
- 8:21That's why sometimes if people talk about, listen, there's
- 8:25racism, there's classism, but I think people don't understand
- 8:30that. British people, they don't have
- 8:32joy, I think because of the weather.
- 8:35They are always angry, or they always have.
- 8:39Yes, they can be smiling in your face, they can be saucing and
- 8:41smiling, but if you take it seriously or if you let that get
- 8:46to you or more, you're just going to be shouting racism up
- 8:50and down, up and down. But actually is, is it really
- 8:54racism when somebody is bad, that person is bad, whether the
- 8:58person is dealing with a white person, whether a person is
- 9:00dealing with a black person. British media are those kind of
- 9:04people who are just angry middle-aged men.
- 9:09According to what some people said, they're just angry.
- 9:12So them attacking Kemi Bednock has nothing to do, I believe,
- 9:18you know, has nothing to do with her skin.
- 9:23The way they attacked Boris Johnson, they literally chased
- 9:28that man out of the party. Liz.
- 9:33Liz lasted I think was three months, less than three months.
- 9:37Liz packed her bag and left. So what I came is going to be
- 9:41the Prime Minister. I don't think if they now start
- 9:45attacking her that that has anything to do with the colour
- 9:48of her skin. She yes, some people are racist.
- 9:52Some people, you know, people talking about what we want our
- 9:55country back, we want this back, we want that back.
- 10:00I mean, when you talk about when we actually, when we actually
- 10:03peel back the layers, OK, let's come to Nigeria.
- 10:07Somebody from the East cannot come into Lagos State and become
- 10:10the governor. Somebody from the, the, the from
- 10:14Lagos State cannot go to let's say a boy and become the
- 10:20governor things. You can't even, you can't even
- 10:23imagine it happening. So when we now come to this
- 10:27country and start claiming right, we now know that, OK, we
- 10:30have rights. If somebody say you're crazy,
- 10:32you say, oh, the person is racist.
- 10:34Or if somebody saying you're this you.
- 10:36So I, I, I get that. I get that there are some
- 10:39undertones of racism. But if you allow that get to you
- 10:44or if you allow the British media get to you, you will cry
- 10:48premium tears. Or if you're thinking that Cami
- 10:53may not get what she wants because of everything that she
- 10:56has said, at the end of the day, who will do the job and who is
- 11:01going to do it best? Yes, they may not give it to her
- 11:04because she's, you know, a black woman.
- 11:07That can happen. But is that better in Nigeria?
- 11:13Is it better? The the crux of the matter is to
- 11:17even get a citizenship in Nigeria, it takes 15 years and
- 11:21we are the ones in this country complaining about Chemi
- 11:23proposing 10 years. So you could see the hypocrisy
- 11:27in the whole thing. We are just hypocrites, OK?
- 11:31Because if to even get in Nigerian citizenship takes you
- 11:3515 years but then we are screaming at Britain, yes, I can
- 11:40understand they colonise those. We have every right to be here.
- 11:44We want to dominate and, you know, we want everything to be
- 11:47free and easy, but everything is no racism.
- 11:54I just think people should leave Kebby alone.
- 11:56Kebby is talking about her experience.
- 11:58You can't take that away from her.
- 12:00That is her experience. That is what she experienced.
- 12:04That is what she being she's been through.
- 12:06That is her reality. Talking about.
- 12:09OK, if I want to give an example of something that happened to me
- 12:13at a, you know, certain stage in my life, I, we will talk about
- 12:18my experience at that point and if I was in Nigeria when that
- 12:22happened, that is the example I'm going to give.
- 12:26I think that is where people kind of are misunderstanding
- 12:29Kemi. If she's talking about police
- 12:31reform and she has not really had any police brutality or
- 12:36police bad behaviour in the UK. If she hasn't experienced that
- 12:41in the UK, she cannot draw experience examples from there.
- 12:46She would have to draw examples from where she has been, which
- 12:49is Nigeria. OK, you but she leave cameo.
- 12:55Stop, stop, stop harassing Kimmy.
- 12:57Kimmy is doing her job. I actually like him.
- 13:00I like him because we Africans or we Nigerians, we tend to pull
- 13:08our own down. That's what we tend to do.
- 13:11We should be celebrating the fact that Ken Mee got to the
- 13:14position that she is in, but we are not.
- 13:18Instead, we're just complaining, nitpicking.
- 13:21Oh, she's doing this. Oh, she's not doing this or
- 13:22she's saying this. She's not saying that.
- 13:24She is doing her job. Let us celebrate what is worth
- 13:29celebrating. She is worth that celebration.
- 13:34She did well against all horns anyway.
- 13:41What do you think? Do you think that the whole
- 13:43chemi big knock hitting train that is going on is well
- 13:47deserved because of the whole policy that she's trying to to
- 13:51to to implement the UK that will not fee for immigrants, which
- 13:56she obviously is one of them or a product of an immigrant.
- 14:01Do you think that it is fair the way people are attacking her or
- 14:04do you think that people should just live alone for her to do
- 14:06her job? Let me know in the comments
- 14:08section. Thank you very much for watching
- 14:09today's episode. Please like, like, like and
- 14:11share. Thank you very much for
- 14:12watching. Bye.
