- 0:04Speaker 1: Alright, alright, Government through your Live from Philly, it's the
- 0:09Speaker 1: Folly and Tony Foolsco Show as always, Folly Foolsco. Here
- 0:15Speaker 1: with Tony Foolsco and Tony. We made big headlines again
- 0:20Speaker 1: because last week we got deep into that huge horse
- 0:24Speaker 1: racing scandal with one of the voices of horse racing,
- 0:27Speaker 1: Joe desert Or, and we explained to him why, Bob
- 0:30Speaker 1: Baffort the legend is being unfairly targeted. And it was
- 0:35Speaker 1: just the hell of an interview, wasn't it, Tony. You know,
- 0:37Speaker 1: people were coming up to us all week and saying,
- 0:40Speaker 1: I never knew a discussion about horse racing could be
- 0:44Speaker 1: so not boring. Yep. And well, today, unfortunately we have
- 0:49Speaker 1: to address another legend in his sport being treated disrespectfully.
- 0:54Speaker 1: This time it's the Great Albert Pujols being dumped by
- 0:58Speaker 1: the Angels just because he's in a slump. That's happened
- 1:01Speaker 1: the last seven years. I mean, so what, yeah, you know,
- 1:04Speaker 1: that's baseball slumps happen all the time. I mean, you
- 1:08Speaker 1: look at pool holes. He's due absolutely and that Tony
- 1:13Speaker 1: and I we've come up with a terrific solution to
- 1:17Speaker 1: help Albert get back on track. And uh, we're also
- 1:21Speaker 1: gonna bring up that solution with our guest today, long
- 1:24Speaker 1: time baseball writer and analyst, Rob Parker. And on the
- 1:28Speaker 1: subject of a disrespect there, Rob Parker happens to be
- 1:32Speaker 1: a voter for the Hall of Fame, and you know
- 1:35Speaker 1: we're gonna ask him the obvious question why he and
- 1:37Speaker 1: his cronies were so disrespectful to all the great legends
- 1:42Speaker 1: of the game by not electing any of them to
- 1:45Speaker 1: the Hall just because they did a minor thing like
- 1:49Speaker 1: take steroids. I mean, get over at people. Shameful. But first,
- 1:53Speaker 1: let's deal with this huge pool holes news. It's our
- 1:57Speaker 1: top story story, all right, as we just told you,
- 2:03Speaker 1: Albert Pooholes dumped by the Anaheim Angels and then wisely
- 2:08Speaker 1: picked up by the Dodgers. Because let's face people, just
- 2:12Speaker 1: because a guy bats under two fifty for seventh straight years,
- 2:15Speaker 1: that doesn't mean you get rid of him. I mean,
- 2:17Speaker 1: you have to look at the whole career, right Tony.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Of course, Albert Poole Holse has done it all. Three
- 2:24Speaker 1: time m v P, ten time All Star, and most importantly,
- 2:29Speaker 1: twelve time sp winner for Best MLP Athlete and Best
- 2:34Speaker 1: International Athlete. A member of the SPS Rare twelve timers
- 2:39Speaker 1: club was in the chief. And then you know, people
- 2:41Speaker 1: are also saying that contract the Angels gave him was
- 2:44Speaker 1: terrible because it was two hundred million for ten years
- 2:48Speaker 1: to get knocked in out of booholes. Well, this was
- 2:51Speaker 1: the tenth year of the contract. Clearly he was waiting
- 2:55Speaker 1: until his contract year to start playing. Well, it's a
- 2:58Speaker 1: smart business move, right, Tony. As they say, the early
- 3:03Speaker 1: bird catches the worm, but the late bird gets more
- 3:07Speaker 1: worms because he doesn't have to compete with all the
- 3:11Speaker 1: early birds. Well said, you know, it's just not right
- 3:15Speaker 1: to treat a legend of the game this way. You know,
- 3:17Speaker 1: the Phillies have a great, honorable tradition. What they do
- 3:22Speaker 1: is they hold onto sluggers and let them go out
- 3:25Speaker 1: the right way, waiting until they fall into the a
- 3:28Speaker 1: spot when they can literally no longer make contact with
- 3:31Speaker 1: the ball. Look at Phillies legend Mike Schmidt his final
- 3:35Speaker 1: season batted two oh three with seven home runs in
- 3:39Speaker 1: just forty two games. Perfect. And then Ryan Howard home
- 3:45Speaker 1: runs in his final season, all right, but he batted
- 3:48Speaker 1: up perfectly below mediocre. One that's called going out in style.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Now we understand. You know, some people out there, they
- 3:58Speaker 1: don't want to see Albert struggle anymore. You know, they
- 4:01Speaker 1: think he should retire, you know, call it a day,
- 4:04Speaker 1: be put to sleep. Whatever. Now hold on before we
- 4:08Speaker 1: do that, Tony and I we have a solution that
- 4:11Speaker 1: will please everybody. The answer lies in one of the
- 4:15Speaker 1: great traditions of the game. Of course, I'm talking about
- 4:19Speaker 1: steroid injection. We think bootholes should be allowed to take
- 4:24Speaker 1: a little bit of the juice. You know, come on,
- 4:26Speaker 1: he's proven he knows how to hit, he's earned the right. Yeah,
- 4:31Speaker 1: just a little dash of andro to get him back
- 4:33Speaker 1: on track. Now you may be sitting there thinking, hey, Polly, Tony,
- 4:37Speaker 1: how are steroids a tradition of the game. You know
- 4:40Speaker 1: they've only been around twenty thirty years. No, you need
- 4:44Speaker 1: to learn your history people. I mean, just like we
- 4:46Speaker 1: talked about with horse racing last week, which was a
- 4:49Speaker 1: terrific episode. By the way, As always, steroids and performance
- 4:53Speaker 1: enhancers are as much a part of baseball as other
- 4:56Speaker 1: great traditions like nicotine abuse. We all member the great
- 5:01Speaker 1: hitter of the olden days, Pud Galvin Legend, a member
- 5:06Speaker 1: of the Baseball Hall of fame. Now, what Bud Galvin
- 5:09Speaker 1: was famous for is that he used to drink the
- 5:12Speaker 1: testosterone from dog testicles. It's true. He trusted the science.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Ye and you know when we look at it, Tony,
- 5:19Speaker 1: you know, knowing what we know now, you have to
- 5:22Speaker 1: wonder if Babe Ruth was given handies to dogs in
- 5:26Speaker 1: the barking lot outside Yankee Stadium. You absolutely have to,
- 5:31Speaker 1: you know, before we wrapped the segment, I think we
- 5:33Speaker 1: should make a little disclaimer here. If there are any
- 5:36Speaker 1: kids listening out there, we want to make one thing clear.
- 5:40Speaker 1: We absolutely do not endorse the use of steroids for
- 5:44Speaker 1: anyone who has a batting average over to eighty. You
- 5:47Speaker 1: don't need it. That's a decent enough average. Yeah, relax,
- 5:52Speaker 1: don't get carried away. Alright, I'm glad we got that
- 5:55Speaker 1: out there, because, uh, I see our guests coming on
- 5:58Speaker 1: the line, so let's bring them on the FUSCO satellite network. Alright.
- 6:06Speaker 1: This guy, longtime baseball writer and analyst, well regarded by
- 6:10Speaker 1: some people in the field, I guess, hosts a kind
- 6:13Speaker 1: of successful radio show with Chris Bruce, The Odd Couple
- 6:16Speaker 1: on Fox Sports Radio. Also hosts a podcast, Lemon Papa
- 6:20Speaker 1: Lemon Pepper Paula. Whatever with that. T J. Hush Manzada
- 6:24Speaker 1: also writes for dead Spin also who wrote this. This
- 6:28Speaker 1: is going on way too long anyway, Let's just get
- 6:30Speaker 1: him on the show, Rob Poco, Welcome to the show.
- 6:33Speaker 1: What's up, guys? How are you? Long time? No? See?
- 6:35Speaker 1: My goodness, are you guys still on the air. You
- 6:40Speaker 1: know that you're already. You were off to a bad
- 6:42Speaker 1: stop before you even got on here, because we heard
- 6:45Speaker 1: you told our guest book that you wanted to keep
- 6:48Speaker 1: this interview to know more than ten minutes because you
- 6:51Speaker 1: have an event to go to. Did you say that,
- 6:54Speaker 1: I'm sorry, you know, graduation season A very no, no, no, no,
- 7:02Speaker 1: you know. First of all, let me tell you. First
- 7:04Speaker 1: of all, that's classless. Second of all, we decide when
- 7:07Speaker 1: you come and go from this show. And third you'll
- 7:10Speaker 1: be lucky if this goes ten minutes. Okay, you know what.
- 7:14Speaker 1: You sund like my ex wife, But that's another story.
- 7:20Speaker 1: It seems like she had great judgment, by the way, yeah,
- 7:23Speaker 1: she know to get away. By the way, what's this
- 7:25Speaker 1: important event? You gotta get those well, my my body.
- 7:28Speaker 1: He used to be my producer in Detroit when I
- 7:30Speaker 1: did local News. You know the ten PM sports caster
- 7:34Speaker 1: Martin Weiss, who I work with a fox. He graduated
- 7:38Speaker 1: from USC with his master's degree. So we're going out
- 7:41Speaker 1: to Hollywood. Was gonna be something bigger than that? No, No,
- 7:46Speaker 1: I shouldn't leave it ask alright, moving on, let's just
- 7:49Speaker 1: get all right first. We addressed this topic at the
- 7:51Speaker 1: top of our show, the legend Albert Bootholes and the
- 7:55Speaker 1: disrespectful way he was dumped by the Angels. Your thought
- 8:00Speaker 1: on the crew way this legend has been treated. How
- 8:04Speaker 1: is it cruel? He got all his loot, he got
- 8:06Speaker 1: every dime that he signed for. He's betten under two hundred.
- 8:09Speaker 1: What do you want him to do? Give him a parade,
- 8:13Speaker 1: sent him, drive him to the Hall of Fame. No,
- 8:15Speaker 1: that's what happened. We don't perform, don't tell him, don't come.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Don't you think they should have treated him with the
- 8:21Speaker 1: same respect the way the Phillies treated Mike Schmidt and
- 8:25Speaker 1: Ryan Howard by letting them fade into the eighth spot
- 8:29Speaker 1: and waiting until they literally couldn't make contact with the
- 8:33Speaker 1: ball anymore. Shouldn't have they had gone that route? You're
- 8:36Speaker 1: talking about legendary Philadelphia players who were there all. Remember
- 8:41Speaker 1: Albert Pools was at St. Louis Cardinal. They don't owe
- 8:44Speaker 1: him anything more than a ten year brazilion dollar contract
- 8:48Speaker 1: that they paid him. What do you want? They gotta
- 8:51Speaker 1: move on. I'll tell you what I want and let
- 8:54Speaker 1: me get your take on this. Yere. You know, Poojos
- 8:57Speaker 1: has already proved that he knows how to hit the baseball, right,
- 9:00Speaker 1: that's not up a did date. Don't you think it's
- 9:02Speaker 1: the right thing to do now that he's on the Dodges.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Just give him a little juice, you know, a little
- 9:08Speaker 1: splash of the andro just to help. Don't you think
- 9:10Speaker 1: the game owes it to him. We're not doing juice.
- 9:13Speaker 1: We're out of the juice era enough. You remember there
- 9:16Speaker 1: were rumors about him with the juice, and then that
- 9:18Speaker 1: went away. I don't know about Albert and juice. Apple
- 9:22Speaker 1: juice maybe, but no juice juice. But rob baseball is
- 9:26Speaker 1: a business, and the ratings were much higher in the
- 9:29Speaker 1: two thousand's when every player was on the juice. Don't
- 9:32Speaker 1: you agree steroids are better, maybe not for the player's health,
- 9:36Speaker 1: but for the overall health of the game. Great point, Tony,
- 9:41Speaker 1: I get what you're saying, I mean, you know, chicks
- 9:43Speaker 1: love the long ball. It was a big deal about
- 9:46Speaker 1: home runs, and McGuire and Sosa had the country captivated.
- 9:50Speaker 1: But we know deep down that that's not the way
- 9:52Speaker 1: the route you want to go. You don't you know
- 9:54Speaker 1: what I mean? This is the problem. I'm sure you
- 9:57Speaker 1: guys probably you know. Do you want the real thing
- 10:00Speaker 1: or do you want to enhance blue pill love making
- 10:04Speaker 1: sessions that you guys are probably involved in. You know
- 10:07Speaker 1: what I'm saying, Where are you trying to stay this conversation? Look,
- 10:10Speaker 1: let's just keep this on things related to sports. Thank you,
- 10:13Speaker 1: mind you bases. These are natural, natural substances here, you know,
- 10:18Speaker 1: like you know you Pud Galvin. Haven't you remember Pud Galvin.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Bud Galvin, he took dog testosterone out of dog's testicles.
- 10:28Speaker 1: That's natural. That's unnatural to me. I wouldn't want any
- 10:33Speaker 1: of that. All I'm saying is what world do you
- 10:36Speaker 1: want to live in? Is it real or is it
- 10:39Speaker 1: uh enhanced somehow? I mean, I want to live in
- 10:42Speaker 1: the real world. Let's see the guys roll up this
- 10:44Speaker 1: leaves and do their thing the real way. You know,
- 10:47Speaker 1: everybody wants a needle and a pill and popping this
- 10:51Speaker 1: and stick in that. Enough already, you guys should know better.
- 10:54Speaker 1: In Philadelphia, Michael Jack Schmidt didn't need any of had
- 11:00Speaker 1: to be the home run slugger that he was. That's
- 11:03Speaker 1: what you know. This just explains. Hold, this just explains
- 11:09Speaker 1: by you and all your fellow crony Hall of Fame
- 11:12Speaker 1: voters through a wet blanket on the whole Hall of
- 11:15Speaker 1: Fame induction this year, right, because you didn't vote anybody in, right,
- 11:20Speaker 1: all these fine decent steroid juice sluggers, you told them
- 11:24Speaker 1: to wait. Unbelievable. I want to know you're a voter.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Who did you vote for? Come on, tell us, I'm
- 11:28Speaker 1: voting for now. I'm one of the guys in the
- 11:31Speaker 1: minority only because you know, we don't have a chest
- 11:34Speaker 1: on everybody. I voted for Bob Clement. Oh, so you
- 11:40Speaker 1: do the game. I see, hips Cheffield. I've voted for
- 11:45Speaker 1: all four rob to to Phase two ballot there. Oh,
- 11:52Speaker 1: I say, you know you're like they talk about voter
- 11:55Speaker 1: fraud in this country. You're the poster child for voter fraud. Yeah,
- 11:59Speaker 1: the f B I should be investigating you. You know,
- 12:02Speaker 1: I called, I picked up the phone and called Trump
- 12:05Speaker 1: to ask him who I should vote for, and he's
- 12:07Speaker 1: in the namesy game, you know, the paper for your
- 12:12Speaker 1: own lack of judgment. See this is that's what I
- 12:15Speaker 1: want to know. You know, you're saying, oh, steroids are
- 12:18Speaker 1: bad for the game, but you're letting Bonds, You're letting Clements. Please,
- 12:21Speaker 1: I need to I need to understand your thinking here
- 12:23Speaker 1: because I don't even know if you are thinking they
- 12:26Speaker 1: weren't testing the Barry Bonds. Okay, both of you guys,
- 12:30Speaker 1: tell me how many times Barry Bonds tested positive for
- 12:32Speaker 1: steroids Jordan his baseball career? Do I look like a
- 12:34Speaker 1: laboratory scientist? I mean, coming answer with zero zero. I'm
- 12:40Speaker 1: just telling you he never tested positive. And if they
- 12:43Speaker 1: put it, if they had a test during that time, Bonds,
- 12:46Speaker 1: Clements are Socia and and and uh Chef, it wouldn't
- 12:50Speaker 1: have been the only guys who tested positive. Let's be honest.
- 12:53Speaker 1: I don't think it's fair for people and just holding
- 12:56Speaker 1: against those guys what it was running ramping don Zimmer
- 13:00Speaker 1: were probably using it back then. Then good for don Zimma.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Bonds went from a hundred sixty pounds to two hundred
- 13:08Speaker 1: and forty pounds, solid muscle. Are you kidding me? He
- 13:12Speaker 1: was probably jerking off dogs, taking all that dogs testical,
- 13:16Speaker 1: just like babe brutes and I just do something. How
- 13:20Speaker 1: do you you made a good point? Do you think
- 13:21Speaker 1: as a baseball as a man of the game, you're
- 13:23Speaker 1: a baseball storian. Do you think Babe Ruth, you know,
- 13:26Speaker 1: is giving handies maybe the dogs in the parking lot
- 13:29Speaker 1: outside Yankee Stadium. I think he was doing that. I
- 13:33Speaker 1: hope not. I don't know what was going on back
- 13:35Speaker 1: then in the twenties, but uh, that sounds pretty gross.
- 13:38Speaker 1: I hope that's not what Well, let me ask you.
- 13:40Speaker 1: So now we've had this con what's called and Beino?
- 13:44Speaker 1: Oh no, that was the band Beano. I'm sorry? Was
- 13:47Speaker 1: that some sort of joke? Unbelievable? This respect in the game.
- 13:51Speaker 1: You can hop on a plane to the catskills tonight.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Until then, hold on, let's get something straight yet. Say
- 13:56Speaker 1: now you're saying, all right, you're okay with bonds, getting in,
- 14:00Speaker 1: okay with the clements, So why not let's give pull holes,
- 14:03Speaker 1: Let's give bulls little jewels. Get him back up so
- 14:07Speaker 1: he can go out and style hitting sixty home runs
- 14:09Speaker 1: at the age of forty. That's a great he's a
- 14:12Speaker 1: first ballot Hall of Fame. But he didn't have to
- 14:14Speaker 1: do anything else. I mean, he get the home and
- 14:17Speaker 1: be with his family and relax. What more do you
- 14:20Speaker 1: need to do? We never all, we never get to
- 14:22Speaker 1: go out the way we want. It's okay, there's no
- 14:25Speaker 1: shame in his game. He still he was a great player,
- 14:28Speaker 1: every right. You know what, I'm still not over this.
- 14:31Speaker 1: You talk about not going getting to go out the
- 14:33Speaker 1: way you want. I think we deserve an apology. What
- 14:39Speaker 1: I can already say, this isn't gonna go well. I
- 14:41Speaker 1: was gonna say you need to apologize for your stupid
- 14:44Speaker 1: ten minute rule. But guess now it's a nine minute rule,
- 14:48Speaker 1: because when nine minutes into this interview and you're not
- 14:51Speaker 1: making it the minute, then in fact, I got great
- 14:53Speaker 1: news for you. You're gonna be right on time for
- 14:56Speaker 1: your event because you that back and you know what,
- 15:09Speaker 1: what's he's still doing on your Chessteak will never come
- 15:17Speaker 1: back on your show? Up Jay? Hang out? Is he
- 15:21Speaker 1: off the line? Can you can you learn how to
- 15:23Speaker 1: hang up a phone? Unbelievable? Every week? You know this
- 15:27Speaker 1: just in people, I heard that event has been canceled
- 15:30Speaker 1: because they heard Rob was coming. Yeah, good move by them. Yeah. Well,
- 15:35Speaker 1: as always, Tony, we're not going to let that get
- 15:37Speaker 1: to us because we've got important business to do, as
- 15:41Speaker 1: are we always do it. This time in the show,
- 15:43Speaker 1: we're gonna do an ad for a big sponsor. We're
- 15:45Speaker 1: gonna bring on board here a big name in the
- 15:48Speaker 1: area of auto insurance, Geico. Do you know that fifteen
- 15:53Speaker 1: minutes could save you fift on your car insurance? Yep.
- 15:57Speaker 1: You may have never heard that before, so you're probably
- 16:00Speaker 1: sitting there mind blown right now, But it's a d true.
- 16:04Speaker 1: In fact, Tony and I are both newly recently converted
- 16:07Speaker 1: Geico customers, and Tony, tell them how you got such
- 16:11Speaker 1: a tremendous deal. Sure. The other day I called up
- 16:16Speaker 1: Geico and spoke to one of them many helpful customer
- 16:19Speaker 1: service agents. Her name was Raquel, a real sweet girl,
- 16:24Speaker 1: and she was happy to help answer all my questions,
- 16:27Speaker 1: like would it be okay if I didn't pay all
- 16:30Speaker 1: my bills until two years from now? And also what's
- 16:34Speaker 1: auto insurance? Before I knew it, fifteen minutes had passed
- 16:38Speaker 1: and I said, oh no, it appears I've run out
- 16:41Speaker 1: of time. And she said, we can take as much
- 16:45Speaker 1: time as you need, and I said, good, because sweetheart,
- 16:50Speaker 1: I don't do anything in under fifteen minutes. If you
- 16:53Speaker 1: catch my drift. Well, let's just say I wound up
- 16:58Speaker 1: getting a great deal on auto and assurance and also
- 17:02Speaker 1: a hand job. What a wonderful story, and that true
- 17:06Speaker 1: testament to how Geico cares for its customers. Not a
- 17:11Speaker 1: big clear was still hammering out the terms of our
- 17:13Speaker 1: promotion with Geico. We're just waiting on them to check
- 17:16Speaker 1: their voice mail and get back to us after they
- 17:18Speaker 1: hear this. They'll be getting back to us prompt though,
- 17:22Speaker 1: no question. Al Right, Well that wraps up I ad
- 17:26Speaker 1: and look at that. That wraps up the show. So
- 17:30Speaker 1: you know what, Oh, no, producing, If it isn't the
- 17:34Speaker 1: person we need, the fire pronto producer J What Polly,
- 17:40Speaker 1: you said pull Houses contract was two million? Yeah, it
- 17:44Speaker 1: was actually two forty million. I mean forty million. That's
- 17:47Speaker 1: that's a pretty significant difference. Oh yeah, Well there's gonna
- 17:53Speaker 1: be a pretty significant difference when we fire you and
- 17:56Speaker 1: hire someone better. Yeah, there's gonna be a pretty sick
- 18:00Speaker 1: ificant difference. When I'm doing the show from prison because
- 18:03Speaker 1: I murdered you. Yeah, let's move on to Tony. Hold on, Tony,
- 18:08Speaker 1: you said Albert pooleholes on sp Awards. No, no, no,
- 18:12Speaker 1: he's only won six sps and he hasn't won one since.
- 18:17Speaker 1: And also nobody cares about the sps. Oh yeah, well
- 18:23Speaker 1: nobody's gonna care when you turn up dead tomorrow. Yeah,
- 18:27Speaker 1: we're gonna win the sp Award for Best Murder. All right,
- 18:30Speaker 1: that's enough. What both of you? You keep calling them
- 18:35Speaker 1: the Anaheim Angels. They're the Los Angeles Angels. They changed
- 18:41Speaker 1: their name. They don't go by Anaheim anymore. Oh yeah,
- 18:49Speaker 1: well you better hope I don't go by your house
- 18:52Speaker 1: tonight and kill you. Yeah, I'm gonna change your name
- 18:57Speaker 1: to deceased. Guys, this show gets more embarrassing every week.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Oh thanks for the reminder. We have a weak producer,
- 19:07Speaker 1: so if you're a strong one, please send us your resume.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Paully and Tony Fusco Show at gmail dot com. And
- 19:13Speaker 1: uh yeah, by the way, let's go out on a
