- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome back to A Peak Inside Gator Football. Allie Peek here.
- 0:03Speaker 1: This video is brought to you by PrizePix. All right, guys,
- 0:07Speaker 1: I have to admit something. I knew Florida's offense looked
- 0:11Speaker 1: good against Auburn. I knew Buster Faulkner called a really
- 0:14Speaker 1: good game. I knew Jaden Baugh was an absolute monster.
- 0:18Speaker 1: But after listening to Jeff Collins break this thing down
- 0:21Speaker 1: on film, I think I may have actually underestimated just
- 0:25Speaker 1: how impressive what Florida did on Saturday night really was.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Collins didn't just come away saying Florida has some good players.
- 0:34Speaker 1: He basically came away saying, guys, this thing is real.
- 0:38Speaker 1: John Summerall is real. Buster Faulkner is real. And maybe
- 0:42Speaker 1: most importantly, Florida is starting to develop an offensive identity
- 0:46Speaker 1: that defenses are going to have a serious problem dealing with.
- 0:50Speaker 1: So I want to go through some of the things
- 0:52Speaker 1: that Collins pointed out because there are several moments where
- 0:55Speaker 1: I'm sitting there thinking, okay, that explains a lot. And
- 0:59Speaker 1: I think the biggest takeaway from the entire breakdown is
- 1:02Speaker 1: that Florida isn't just lining up with better players and
- 1:05Speaker 1: hoping that somebody makes a play. There's a plan, there
- 1:09Speaker 1: are answers, and there are plays setting up other plays.
- 1:14Speaker 1: And if you've watched Florida football over the last several years,
- 1:17Speaker 1: you know why that feels like such a big deal.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Now let's start with what Colin said right at the beginning.
- 1:23Speaker 1: He's apparently been beating this drum for a few weeks
- 1:25Speaker 1: now that Summerall and Buster Faulkner are the real deal.
- 1:30Speaker 1: And people kept responding, yeah, but who have they played? Well,
- 1:33Speaker 1: now they've played somebody. Florida went into Jordan-Hare Stadium in
- 1:38Speaker 1: Summerall's first SEC road game against a defense coordinated by
- 1:42Speaker 1: DJ Durkin and put up 44 points. And Collins gave
- 1:46Speaker 1: some context that I thought was pretty eye-opening. He said
- 1:48Speaker 1: that Durkin has never allowed more than 31 points at
- 1:51Speaker 1: home at Auburn in regulations. Florida scored 44. He said
- 1:56Speaker 1: Auburn has basically never allowed an opponent to get near
- 1:59Speaker 1: 500 yards during his time there. Well, Florida did that too.
- 2:03Speaker 1: So when we talk about whether what Florida did against
- 2:06Speaker 1: Auburn is sustainable, I think all of this is important.
- 2:09Speaker 1: This wasn't Campbell. This wasn't Florida Atlantic. This was an
- 2:12Speaker 1: SEC defense on the road in one of the tougher
- 2:15Speaker 1: environments in college football. And Florida didn't just survive it.
- 2:19Speaker 1: They dictated the game offensively. We're going to take a
- 2:23Speaker 1: brief break from this video to give some love to PrizePix.
- 2:26Speaker 1: I want to show you guys how it works. Okay,
- 2:29Speaker 1: so you're going to download the PrizePix app. You're going
- 2:32Speaker 1: to play a $ 5 lineup and you're going to use
- 2:34Speaker 1: our code. It's HMA. This is what we're going to
- 2:36Speaker 1: do right now too. I think I am going to
- 2:39Speaker 1: take the more on Jaden Baugh's 1.5 rushing touchdowns. I'm
- 2:45Speaker 1: also going to take the more on Trinidad Chambliss' 1.5
- 2:48Speaker 1: passing touchdowns. Guys, I think there's going to be a
- 2:50Speaker 1: lot of points scored this weekend. You can just pair
- 2:54Speaker 1: a couple things like that and hit submit. You've got
- 2:56Speaker 1: yourself a lineup. If you're a new user and you
- 2:58Speaker 1: use that code HMA, you play that $ 5 lineup. If
- 3:01Speaker 1: you win, you'll get $ 150 in lineups instantly. We appreciate
- 3:05Speaker 1: PrizePix for all their support. They help keep the lights
- 3:08Speaker 1: on around here. Make sure you download the app, use
- 3:11Speaker 1: the code. You're going to have so much fun with it.
- 3:14Speaker 1: All right. So one of the things that I loved
- 3:16Speaker 1: about Collins' breakdown was how many different ways Florida attacked Auburn.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Sometimes when you score 44 points, you look back and
- 3:24Speaker 1: you realize, okay, one guy had a ridiculous game or
- 3:27Speaker 1: the quarterback hit three deep balls or the defense gave
- 3:31Speaker 1: you short fields. But none of that was really what happened.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Florida created explosives in completely different ways. Screens, play action,
- 3:40Speaker 1: running the football, max protection, formation, motion. There was a
- 3:44Speaker 1: double pass. And even just using Jaden Baugh as a decoy.
- 3:48Speaker 1: I think all of that is what makes this offense interesting. Now,
- 3:52Speaker 1: The defense has problems because of all of the different
- 3:56Speaker 1: things that the offense is doing. And every solution that
- 3:59Speaker 1: that defense comes up with creates another problem for them.
- 4:03Speaker 1: The first example Collins shows came right after Florida got
- 4:06Speaker 1: the interception. Florida gets the sudden change opportunity, and instead
- 4:10Speaker 1: of just lining up and taking a shot downfield, they
- 4:13Speaker 1: split Jaden Baugh wide and they create an empty look.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Then they hit Dallas Wilson with a quick tunnel screen.
- 4:19Speaker 1: But here's what Collins really loved. Watch the offensive line.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Those guys are getting out into space and blocking DBs.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Then watch Jaden Baugh. Your star running back is out
- 4:29Speaker 1: there bullying a safety to help spring the play. And
- 4:33Speaker 1: I think that's kind of an underrated piece in all
- 4:35Speaker 1: of this. We talk a lot about scheme. We talk
- 4:37Speaker 1: a lot about play calling. But Collins pointed out that
- 4:40Speaker 1: plays like that also tell you something about culture. Your
- 4:44Speaker 1: best players are willing to do the dirty work. Baugh
- 4:48Speaker 1: isn't standing out there pretending to block because he knows
- 4:51Speaker 1: he's going to get 20 carries later on in the game.
- 4:54Speaker 1: He is actually trying to bury somebody. Then Florida gets
- 4:58Speaker 1: into third and long, third and 12. Auburn brings pressure.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Florida max protects. And Aaron Filo gets hit, but stands
- 5:06Speaker 1: in there and delivers a strike to VB3 for the
- 5:08Speaker 1: first down. And I think this is another huge development
- 5:12Speaker 1: for Florida. Now the quarterback is showing you something too.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Philo isn't just operating the offense when everything's clean. He's
- 5:20Speaker 1: standing in there against SEC pressure, knowing he's about to
- 5:23Speaker 1: get drilled and delivering the football. That's good quarterback play.
- 5:27Speaker 1: And Collins' point about Auburn defensively was also fascinating. If
- 5:31Speaker 1: you're going to bring an all-out blitz and Florida goes
- 5:34Speaker 1: max protection, Auburn needs to have some mechanism to get
- 5:37Speaker 1: out of that pressure because now you're leaving talented Florida
- 5:40Speaker 1: receivers one-on-one. And Florida got exactly the matchup that it wanted.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Philo made the throw. Brown made the play. First down.
- 5:50Speaker 1: But the play that probably bothered Collins the most from
- 5:52Speaker 1: Auburn's perspective was the third and 20 touchdown. Florida wasn't
- 5:56Speaker 1: even trying to score a touchdown. That's the crazy part.
- 5:59Speaker 1: They basically are just trying to stay within field goal range.
- 6:02Speaker 1: They run the football. Auburn brings pressure from the opposite
- 6:05Speaker 1: side and Florida runs away from it. Then Auburn misses tackles.
- 6:09Speaker 1: The contain breaks down. And suddenly third and 20 turns
- 6:12Speaker 1: into six points. Think about how demoralizing that is for defense.
- 6:17Speaker 1: You have them exactly where you want them, third and 20.
- 6:19Speaker 1: They're basically conceding that there's probably kicking a field goal
- 6:23Speaker 1: right there. And the next thing you know, you're giving
- 6:25Speaker 1: up a touchdown instead. And we talked about Auburn's missed
- 6:28Speaker 1: tackles after the game. Collins said Baugh forced 13 of them. 13, guys.
- 6:33Speaker 1: That is ridiculous. But again, the play isn't just Baugh
- 6:37Speaker 1: doing something special. Florida's formation and the defensive pressure created
- 6:41Speaker 1: the opportunity. Then your great player turns that opportunity into
- 6:45Speaker 1: a touchdown. That's the marriage you want between scheme and talent.
- 6:50Speaker 1: And then we get to maybe my favorite part of
- 6:52Speaker 1: the breakdown, the double pass, because this is where you
- 6:54Speaker 1: really start appreciating what Buster Faulkner is doing before the
- 6:58Speaker 1: ball is even snapped. Florida gets into 12 personnel, then
- 7:01Speaker 1: it shifts to quads empty and And now Auburn has
- 7:04Speaker 1: to communicate who is covering who, who's rotating, who is
- 7:07Speaker 1: the deep middle, who's spinning down. And Collins' point was
- 7:10Speaker 1: that Florida basically forced Auburn defenders to change jobs right
- 7:14Speaker 1: before the snap. One second, you think you're coming down
- 7:17Speaker 1: into the box. Now you're the deep safety. And before
- 7:20Speaker 1: you fully process all of that, Florida throws the ball outside.
- 7:25Speaker 1: The defenders come flying downhill. They vacate their deep zones.
- 7:28Speaker 1: And Florida throws the double pass over the top to
- 7:31Speaker 1: Amir Jackson. That's coaching. That is using formation and motion
- 7:35Speaker 1: to force defenders to think. And football gets really difficult
- 7:39Speaker 1: when you're reacting instead of playing. Florida made Auburn react
- 7:43Speaker 1: all night. But I think the most important part of
- 7:46Speaker 1: the entire video involved Jaden Baugh. We've all seen the
- 7:49Speaker 1: rushing yards. We all see the touchdowns. We see the
- 7:51Speaker 1: Heisman pose. We see him running through people. What Collins
- 7:55Speaker 1: showed is how much Baugh affects the defense when he
- 7:57Speaker 1: doesn't get the football. There was a play where Auburn
- 8:00Speaker 1: drops eight defenders into coverage. And Florida uses hard play
- 8:05Speaker 1: action to ball. All five underneath defenders get sucked towards
- 8:09Speaker 1: the line of scrimmage. Why? Because everybody's terrified of number 13.
- 8:14Speaker 1: So those linebackers step forward, the deep defenders get stretched,
- 8:17Speaker 1: and suddenly there is a massive window in the middle
- 8:19Speaker 1: of the defense. Philo hits VB3 for another explosive play.
- 8:24Speaker 1: That is the next evolution of this offense. If teams
- 8:28Speaker 1: want to load up to try to stop Baugh, fine.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Florida has answers. If they stay back to stop Florida's receivers, fine.
- 8:36Speaker 1: You're going to hand the ball to Jaden Baugh. If
- 8:38Speaker 1: they pressure, Florida can max protect. If they sit in zone,
- 8:42Speaker 1: Florida can use motion and formations to manipulate coverage. That's
- 8:46Speaker 1: what makes this so much harder to defend. Collins also
- 8:49Speaker 1: showed another play where Florida uses a fake cadence. Bilo
- 8:53Speaker 1: sees the pressure. Florida checks the play. Auburn checks the defense.
- 8:57Speaker 1: And then it becomes a chess match. Florida gets into
- 8:59Speaker 1: the better call and Auburn has communication issues up front.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Baugh hits another explosive run. And that's where I think
- 9:06Speaker 1: we have to start giving Aaron Filo some more credit.
- 9:09Speaker 1: People naturally focus on the arm talent, but playing quarterback
- 9:13Speaker 1: at this level isn't just making throws. It's understanding what
- 9:16Speaker 1: you're seeing. It's communicating. It's getting your offense into the
- 9:20Speaker 1: right look. It's recognizing pressure. And according to Collins' breakdown,
- 9:25Speaker 1: Florida was doing that at a very high level Saturday night.
- 9:28Speaker 1: And then fourth and one. This is the play. Game
- 9:32Speaker 1: hanging in the balance. Florida has the ball around its
- 9:34Speaker 1: own 46. And Summerall says, we're going for it. But
- 9:39Speaker 1: Florida doesn't spread everybody out. They bring in... 13T personnel,
- 9:43Speaker 1: three tight ends, an extra tackle. We're not hiding what
- 9:47Speaker 1: we're doing. We're bringing the heavy package and we're coming
- 9:50Speaker 1: right at you. And this is what I absolutely love
- 9:53Speaker 1: about this play. There's creativity throughout this offense. There's motion,
- 9:58Speaker 1: there's misdirection, there's trick plays, there's formation manipulation. But when
- 10:02Speaker 1: Florida absolutely has to have one yard, they can also
- 10:07Speaker 1: line up and say, stop us. Fourth and one turns
- 10:11Speaker 1: into 50 plus yards. Jaden's gone. He hits the Heisman
- 10:15Speaker 1: pose in front of the Auburn student section. And Florida
- 10:18Speaker 1: has one of the defining plays of the game. Collins
- 10:21Speaker 1: basically said, analytics may tell you to punt there. John
- 10:25Speaker 1: Summerall wasn't interested. John Summerall and I have a little
- 10:27Speaker 1: beef going on now about punting and how much he
- 10:30Speaker 1: hates it. He probably doesn't know we have that beef,
- 10:32Speaker 1: but we do. But I liked this play. He wanted
- 10:35Speaker 1: to win the football game. And whether you agree with
- 10:38Speaker 1: every fourth down decision Summerall will make during his career
- 10:41Speaker 1: or not, I think Florida fans have already started to
- 10:44Speaker 1: understand his personality. He's aggressive. He trusts his players, and
- 10:48Speaker 1: his team seems to feed off of it. Now, before
- 10:52Speaker 1: we start booking tickets to Atlanta, there is another side
- 10:55Speaker 1: to this. Florida still has things to clean up. Auburn
- 10:58Speaker 1: missed tackles. Auburn had communication problems. Auburn misfit gaps. There
- 11:02Speaker 1: were plays where their defenders simply didn't execute. Ole Miss
- 11:06Speaker 1: is going to watch every second of this tape. They
- 11:10Speaker 1: are going to have answers, and Florida isn't going to
- 11:12Speaker 1: surprise people anymore. That's the next challenge. It's one thing
- 11:16Speaker 1: to have success when people are still figuring out exactly
- 11:19Speaker 1: who you are. It's another thing when defensive coordinators spend
- 11:22Speaker 1: an entire week building a game plan specifically designed to
- 11:25Speaker 1: take away your strengths. That's where we find out how
- 11:28Speaker 1: many answers Buster Faulkner really has. And Collins ended the
- 11:32Speaker 1: segment by making a really interesting comparison to 2015. He
- 11:36Speaker 1: was Florida's defensive coordinator when Ole Miss came into Gainesville
- 11:39Speaker 1: after beating Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Ole Miss was rolling. Florida
- 11:43Speaker 1: was still trying to prove exactly who it was. And
- 11:45Speaker 1: the Gators absolutely blasted them in the swamp. Now, Collins
- 11:50Speaker 1: sees some similarities. Ole Miss just got the huge win
- 11:52Speaker 1: over LSU. Now they're coming to Gainesville. Florida is the
- 11:56Speaker 1: up-and-coming team people are trying to figure out. And the
- 11:59Speaker 1: swamp is going to be insane. I'm not saying history
- 12:03Speaker 1: automatically repeats itself. It doesn't. Ole Miss is a different team.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Florida is a different team. But I completely understand why
- 12:10Speaker 1: Florida fans are making the comparison. And here's what makes
- 12:13Speaker 1: Saturday so interesting. Auburn was the game where Florida proved
- 12:17Speaker 1: it could do this against SEC competition. Ole Miss is
- 12:20Speaker 1: the game where Florida gets to prove that it wasn't
- 12:22Speaker 1: a one-week thing. That is really where my reaction landed
- 12:26Speaker 1: after watching Collins break down the Auburn film. I'm not
- 12:29Speaker 1: walking away saying Florida's perfect. I'm not walking away saying
- 12:32Speaker 1: nobody can stop this offense. I'm not saying Florida finally
- 12:36Speaker 1: has all the answers, but it looks like it has
- 12:39Speaker 1: a lot of them. And maybe more importantly, Florida looks
- 12:43Speaker 1: like it knows exactly who it wants to be. Physical
- 12:46Speaker 1: offensive line, a superstar running back, playmakers on the outside,
- 12:50Speaker 1: a quarterback who can manage the chess match before the
- 12:53Speaker 1: snap and makes throws under pressure, and an offensive coordinator
- 12:57Speaker 1: who understands how to use all of it. For years,
- 13:00Speaker 1: Florida fans have watched games and wondered, what is this
- 13:04Speaker 1: offense trying to be? I don't think we're wondering anymore.
- 13:08Speaker 1: And now comes the fun part. Ole Miss, better opponent,
- 13:11Speaker 1: bigger spotlights. Everybody has the Auburn tape. Everybody has seen
- 13:15Speaker 1: what Baugh can do. Everybody has seen what Faulkner can do.
- 13:19Speaker 1: So what's Florida's counterpunch? Because if Buster Faulkner has another
- 13:22Speaker 1: game like this one, we're going to be having a
- 13:25Speaker 1: very different conversation about this Florida offense by Saturday night.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Let me know what you guys think. What was your
- 13:30Speaker 1: biggest takeaway from Jeff Collins' film breakdown? Was it the
- 13:33Speaker 1: play calling? Was it Jaden Baugh, Aaron Filo, the offensive line?
- 13:37Speaker 1: Or just how different this offense looks schematically? Let me
- 13:41Speaker 1: know down in the comments. As always, make sure you
- 13:44Speaker 1: like the video, subscribe to the channel. We appreciate PrizePix
- 13:47Speaker 1: for all their support. And guys, I'm going to have
- 13:49Speaker 1: plenty more content coming for you this week, so make
- 13:52Speaker 1: sure you are tuned in and ready. Appreciate you all.
- 13:55Speaker 1: As always, go Gators.
