- 0:00If the walls of certain homes could speak, some of the stories
- 0:04they would tell would more than likely shock and amaze us, or
- 0:10perhaps repulse and terrify us instead.
- 0:14This is one such story that if a house could tell its own tale,
- 0:18it would certainly be one we would never forget.
- 0:22A family moves to the country in search of peace, but those
- 0:26dreams are soon shattered by supernatural terror.
- 0:30Something evil lurks within the woods outside of their home, and
- 0:34this evil begins to stalk and wreak havoc upon everyone that
- 0:39dwells within the home. Can they save themselves before
- 0:44it's too late? This is the untold story of the
- 0:47haunted Hinsdale House, also known as the Dandy House, and
- 0:51the entities that infested it. Hinsdale, NY, A small town with
- 1:04a rustic and rural charm, tucked deep into the countryside and
- 1:09far away from the crime, concrete and smog of New York
- 1:14City. Instead of gazing at
- 1:16skyscrapers, they would rather gaze at the surrounding
- 1:19mountains covered in dense foliage.
- 1:23But these mountains and their surrounding woods harbor many
- 1:26secrets and have many stories to tell.
- 1:31This is just one of them. The year is 1970 and the Dandy
- 1:36family is in pursuit of their American dream.
- 1:41After years of vacationing to Hinsdale and the surrounding
- 1:44areas to catch a break from their fast-paced life in
- 1:48Buffalo, they finally reached a point where they can turn their
- 1:52vacation into their daily life. Seeking their own rural
- 1:56paradise, they come across a listing for a home that seems
- 2:01idyllic for their family and its needs.
- 2:04Clara Dandy, the mother of the family, believed that they all
- 2:08got along so much better in the country, like it had some form
- 2:12of redemption qualities about it that seemed to rejuvenate their
- 2:16spirits and their relationships. As they wind their way through
- 2:21the countryside, they lay eyes on the home for the first time.
- 2:26They are not only taken aback by the beauty and the sheer size of
- 2:29the house, but that it sat upon 8 acres of land surrounded by
- 2:34dense and breathtaking woods. Clara would describe her
- 2:38feelings about first seeing the house as being overcome with a
- 2:42deep sense of peace. It was like I'd finally come
- 2:46home after years of being elsewhere.
- 2:48And the air, the air was like breathing champagne.
- 2:52It was wonderful. The home is over 100 years old
- 2:56and still had most of the original and ornate woodwork
- 3:00intact. It just seemed to emanate charm
- 3:03and elegance. As the children explored the
- 3:07nearby woods, Mr. and Missus Dandy continued their tour, but
- 3:12when they were being shown the storage space underneath the
- 3:15stairs, the door was initially stuck, but after some elbow
- 3:20grease from Mr. Dandy, they were finally able to get it open.
- 3:25It revealed A dusty space of sorts with a fireplace, the one
- 3:30that didn't seem to fit the feeling of the house at all.
- 3:33Clara would describe her feelings towards the space like
- 3:36this. I wasn't sure why, but I felt
- 3:40very uneasy when we opened up the storage space.
- 3:43I couldn't put my finger on it, but it was dark and desolate,
- 3:48not at all like the rest of the house.
- 3:51But she quickly would dismiss these feelings, attributing the
- 3:55creepy factor to her city upbringing and the fact that
- 3:59they didn't have storage rooms like that where she was from.
- 4:02After closing the space and continuing to evaluate their
- 4:06opportunity, the feelings of peace would return and the
- 4:10dandies decide that they can't resist the charm of this rustic
- 4:14100 year old home, so they decide to purchase it once
- 4:19things are squared away. Several months later they move
- 4:22in to start their new rural existence.
- 4:26On move in day, Claire's brother decided to lend a helping hand
- 4:30and had begun to move things in hours before the family was able
- 4:34to arrive. When loading in a box of
- 4:37belongings, as he opened the door he was greeted by a flurry
- 4:42of insects. Both bees and flies pelted him
- 4:46in his face, rushing past them and then unloading the box onto
- 4:50the floor in the main room. He was startled to see hundreds
- 4:54of dead bees scattered all over the floor, and even more
- 4:58startled to see hundreds still alive encoding the windows.
- 5:04It was still cold during this time of year and although he too
- 5:08wasn't from the country, he found it rather odd that there
- 5:12would be any kind of infestation at this time.
- 5:15When his sister and her family finally arrive, he greets her
- 5:19with the news and in order to continue with the move in, they
- 5:23have to call an exterminator. Upon his arrival, he too
- 5:27confirms the oddity of the situation.
- 5:30He said that he had never seen so many bees and flies in one
- 5:34spot in a home, and given this time of year, it was not normal
- 5:38for them to swarm or infest anything during this time.
- 5:43It takes some time, but after he finishes clearing them out, the
- 5:47family is finally able to get moved in.
- 5:50As time progresses, things seem to fit the dreams they had for
- 5:54moving there in the 1st place. The family finally seems at
- 5:58peace. They were getting along better
- 6:01and enjoying each other's company, a far departure from
- 6:05their city life in Buffalo. But as the old adage goes, if it
- 6:09seems too good to be true, it is.
- 6:14A few weeks into living in what they believed was going to be
- 6:17their rural paradise, their son Mike has met and made friends
- 6:22with a nearby neighbor. Together, they begin to explore
- 6:25the woods surrounding the Dandy property.
- 6:28As the two navigate the forest, they're startled when they hear
- 6:32the crunching of leaves directly in front of them.
- 6:36Stopping frozen in their tracks and fearing that it could be a
- 6:40bear, they take refuge behind a large tree and sneak glimpses
- 6:45from around its sides to figure out just what it could be.
- 6:50To their shock, they spot a boy not much older than them
- 6:54carrying a rifle and walking in the path ahead.
- 6:58Yelling at the boy that this is private property and wanting to
- 7:02know what he was doing there, they run towards him and try to
- 7:06catch up to him. They again freeze in their
- 7:08tracks when they notice that not only is the boy transparent the
- 7:12closer they get, but half of his head is missing.
- 7:18As the figure continues to walk and taking deep breaths, they
- 7:23slowly continue to follow him. The three approach a small lake.
- 7:28Within the blink of an eye, the boy vanishes.
- 7:32Mike and his friend are at a loss for words and have no
- 7:36explanation for what they saw. They quickly rush back to the
- 7:40Dandy house as fast as they can to tell anyone who will listen
- 7:44to them. They soon make contact with
- 7:47Clara and explain to her what took place, but she's quick to
- 7:51dismiss their experience as nothing more than overactive
- 7:55imaginations. Another several weeks pass by
- 8:00and Clara has all but forgotten about what her son had told her.
- 8:04She's now walking the family dog, Madison, in the woods for
- 8:08some fresh air and exercise. As they get deeper into the
- 8:12forest, Clara starts to hear what can only be described as
- 8:17chanting. As she stops to listen, it
- 8:21sounds eerie and disembodied, as if the sound is all around her
- 8:27but has no true origin. It's at this time that Madison
- 8:32begins growling and barking. The longer she seems to focus on
- 8:37the chanting, the louder it seems to become.
- 8:42Madison by this point is losing her mind and breaks free from a
- 8:46distracted Clara and bolts in the direction of their home.
- 8:50Clara chases her down and she finally stops running when she
- 8:54makes it to the front door of their estate.
- 8:57After taking a moment to collect herself, Clara then calls her
- 9:01husband, who, like she was to her son, was quick to dismiss
- 9:05her feelings, thinking that she just had to adjust to rural life
- 9:10and wasn't used to it being so different from their life in the
- 9:13city. Frustrated and worried now about
- 9:16what the chanting could have been, Clara talks with her son
- 9:20about her experience while she prepares dinner for the family.
- 9:25Mike thinks that it could have been some campers at a nearby
- 9:27campground not too far from where their property line ends
- 9:31that could have been the cause of the strange sounds.
- 9:34To try and put his mother at ease, he and his friend Matt
- 9:37once again take to the woods to explore this possibility.
- 9:41As they venture further into the woods to a lookout point towards
- 9:45the campsite, they see nothing. There are no signs of any
- 9:50campers that could be nearby enough to have caused such a
- 9:53noise. Even more perplexed now that
- 9:57there was no explanation, the boys start to make their way
- 10:00back to the house when suddenly they hear what sounds like an
- 10:06axe studying into a tree right next to them, unsure of what
- 10:10that noise could have been. Before they could even begin to
- 10:13ponder or investigate, they hear a woman screaming to their left.
- 10:19This frightens them so bad, but the two young men run as fast as
- 10:23they can all the way back to the Dandy's home.
- 10:27When they arrive, Mike is truly scared this time.
- 10:31He has no way of explaining his mother's experience or any of
- 10:35his own either. Upon relaying this information
- 10:39to Clara, both of them are left beside themselves now with a
- 10:44chill up both of their spines. But these weird events thus far
- 10:49would only intensify as the sands of time continue to
- 10:53trickle into the hourglass. It has now been months since the
- 10:58initial experiences, and besides the oddities they were, the
- 11:03family's life continues to be great.
- 11:06This distance from the experiences only makes them ever
- 11:10easier to dismiss in the minds of Clara and Mike.
- 11:15One day, Phil or Mr. Dandy decides to take the children,
- 11:20Mike and Tina, into Buffalo for the day to get some errands
- 11:24done. Mostly being a homebody, Clara
- 11:27decides to forgo the trip with her family and relax at home
- 11:31reading her latest book instead. When her family departs, Clara
- 11:36finds herself curled up on the couch and immersed in her latest
- 11:40story as a warm breeze drifts through the open windows of the
- 11:44house. As she reads page to page, she
- 11:48is suddenly startled when the window closest to her slam shut.
- 11:54Upon investigating, it makes no sense to her because the breeze
- 11:58was light, not forceful at all, and their windows were fairly
- 12:03new, which made it all the stranger.
- 12:07But as she always does, she dismisses the happening as
- 12:11nothing more than a weird coincidence and heads back to
- 12:15her book. Several nights later, as Mike
- 12:18lay asleep in his bed, he's suddenly woken up when a nearby
- 12:23box of a chess game drops onto his chest.
- 12:27The storage shelf is directly above his head, so opening his
- 12:31eyes he glances up to see if perhaps it could have been
- 12:35hanging too far off the edge, causing it to fall.
- 12:39And to his shock, he begins to see several more boxes slowly
- 12:44shifting towards the edge by themselves.
- 12:49The lowest one then suddenly flies out from the rest and
- 12:53smacks him in the chest. Terrified, he sits up, trying to
- 12:58catch his breath. He has no way of explaining how
- 13:02the lowest box could be pulled and thrown with such force
- 13:06without bringing the rest of the boxes with it, as if someone or
- 13:11something had grabbed and thrown it by a will of its own.
- 13:16Calling out to his mom in the darkness, she soon arrives in
- 13:20the doorway of his room. Being a very science and logic
- 13:24minded person, Mike has no way to explain what has happened.
- 13:29Examining the pile, Clara too is perplexed and becomes just as
- 13:34scared when another box from a different pile flies across the
- 13:39room, causing both of them to scream in terror and run out as
- 13:44fast as possible. Trying to make sense of what was
- 13:48taking place, Clara fears that whatever could be lurking in the
- 13:52woods has been stalking her family and has slowly but
- 13:57surely, like a malignant stain, invaded her home.
- 14:03As her fears turned into a revelation, Claire decides to
- 14:07reach out to a local priest for help, hoping her faith will help
- 14:11her come up with some answers and better yet, some solutions.
- 14:17She speaks with a priest named Father Alphonsus at the
- 14:20University of Saint Bonaventure. He believes that the activity
- 14:25could be a poltergeist, but given the intelligent nature of
- 14:28how it seemed to be behaving, Clara has her doubts, but
- 14:33nonetheless, once an expert's opinion and assistance.
- 14:38So arrangements are made for the Father to come out and bless the
- 14:42home, and after several days he arrives.
- 14:47On April 13th, 1975, the cleansing begins.
- 14:53As the family and the priest were all gathered together, and
- 14:57as he began to speak, a series of horrible wailing and moaning
- 15:02noises began to fill the home as if the house itself was crying.
- 15:09The scent of burning matter also quickly enveloped the house.
- 15:15The activity reached a fever pitch when the priest opened and
- 15:19began to pray over the crawl space that was underneath the
- 15:22stairs. But after this, a blissful
- 15:26silence overtook them all. It was if whatever entities that
- 15:31dwelled within the walls of the dandies home had finally been
- 15:35evicted. Within time, the father gathered
- 15:39his things, exchanged pleasantries and departed for
- 15:44the evening. The family now believed that
- 15:47their darkest days were behind them, and for all intents and
- 15:50purposes, that seemed to be the case.
- 15:54But as if to mock the Holy Trinity itself, three months
- 15:58later to the day, all hell would break loose once again.
- 16:04That night, while her husband is away on a business trip, Clara
- 16:09finds herself woken up out of a dead sleep by a series of knocks
- 16:13coming from inside the walls. The knocks themselves are soon
- 16:18accompanied with whispers from someone that she can't see.
- 16:24As she apprehensively makes her way from her room and slowly
- 16:27down the stairs headed towards the main level, the apparition
- 16:32of a young girl begins to walk by the stairs.
- 16:36She slowly makes her way to the crawl space, opens the door and
- 16:42closes it behind her. Clara's baffled at the sight.
- 16:47After gathering up her courage she too makes her way fully down
- 16:51the stairs into the crawl space and after a moment of bracing
- 16:56herself she opens the door and went to be met with nothing.
- 17:03Claire then makes her way to her daughter Tina's room to make
- 17:07sure it somehow wasn't her and perhaps her nerves were just on
- 17:11edge. But after opening her door, she
- 17:14finds her fast asleep in her bed, with no signs that she had
- 17:19been awake for some time. The following morning, while the
- 17:23rest of her family is still asleep, Tina wakes up to begin
- 17:27her day. As she feeds her pet bird in its
- 17:30cage and begins to brush her hair in her Oval mirror, she
- 17:35notices that her bird isn't doing its usual whistles.
- 17:39As she glances over at them, she finds it staring into the corner
- 17:43of the room. As Tina glances back up at the
- 17:47mirror, she's met with the apparition of a young girl.
- 17:51Her face is sunk in and her eyes were gone.
- 17:57She screams in terror and just as quickly as it appeared, the
- 18:02apparition disappears. The screams of her daughter
- 18:06startles and quickly summons Clara to her daughter's room.
- 18:10As she consoles Tina, she realizes that the priest's
- 18:13blessings were ineffective. She quickly calls Father Al back
- 18:19and explains what had taken place the previous night and
- 18:23that morning, and although he is busy, he promises to come back
- 18:28as soon as possible and this time to bring a paranormal
- 18:32expert with him as well to help him determine the cause and
- 18:36hopefully find a working solution.
- 18:39He's able to come back the following week.
- 18:42In the meantime, Clara's determined to keep her family
- 18:45calm. If she can control her own
- 18:48emotions, she knows that everything else will be OK.
- 18:53As they wait for the priest to return, Claire tries her best to
- 18:56keep her family calm and live some sort of a normal existence.
- 19:02That weekend, her and Phil are watching a movie while Mike and
- 19:06Tina are out with friends. As they enjoy their time
- 19:10together, their happiness is quickly shattered by a huge
- 19:14crashing noise coming from outside of their house.
- 19:18Quickly grabbing a flashlight and running outside to
- 19:21investigate together, they quietly stepped towards where
- 19:25they believed the noise to be originating from.
- 19:28And suddenly they hear it again. But this time, thankfully for
- 19:34them, the origin is not paranormal.
- 19:39This time, there's several raccoons who happened to be
- 19:42forging through their metal trash cans for something to eat.
- 19:47Relieved for that moment, they start to make their way back to
- 19:50the house when they suddenly see the figure of a young girl in
- 19:55their living room window, staring at them as they rush
- 20:00inside. They run up into Tina's room,
- 20:03where they find her incoherent and staring into her Oval
- 20:07mirror. They try to get her attention,
- 20:11but she's entirely unresponsive. Her pale blue eyes.
- 20:16Or Black. Panicking, they shake her and
- 20:20yell her name, not knowing what else to do when she eventually
- 20:24comes back. In that moment, and later, Tina
- 20:29will not recall how she got home or what exactly happened.
- 20:34As the family tries to gather themselves from the shock of
- 20:38what had just taken place, they hear movement coming from Mike's
- 20:43room. Phil tells his family not to
- 20:45leave Tina's room. As he rushes to investigate,
- 20:50however, the home phone begins to ring.
- 20:55It's Mike. He's asking if he can stay the
- 20:57night at his friend Randy's house.
- 21:00However, when told what was going on, he quickly tells her
- 21:04that he's coming home to help in any way that he can.
- 21:08Rushing to his car, Randy offers to come with him, to which Mike
- 21:12agrees. Randy would later recount that
- 21:15Mike's hands were sweating and he was shaking, gripping the
- 21:19steering wheel. He was pale.
- 21:22I asked him what was wrong, and he said that things were
- 21:25happening at the house that he couldn't explain.
- 21:29The boys quickly arrived to find the family in chaos.
- 21:33Phil is prepared to do battle with whatever forces within the
- 21:36house and the girls are staying close to one another, attempting
- 21:41to comfort each other. As they try to determine a
- 21:44course of action, all the lights in the house go out.
- 21:49They then begin to hear banging and scratching coming from the
- 21:54crawl space. Flashlights still in hand, fill
- 21:58with the backup of his family, shines the light towards it and
- 22:02begins to make his way towards whatever this thing is.
- 22:07It seems like with each step he takes, the sounds become louder,
- 22:12and after a tense several seconds, he opens the door to
- 22:15the crawl space. Inside, they find that the
- 22:19fireplace that was once there has been completely
- 22:22disassembled. Its bricks have now been stacked
- 22:26in an elaborate pile directly in the middle of the small room.
- 22:31The amount of effort and strength required to perform
- 22:34such a task convinces all of them that whatever they're
- 22:38dealing with is strong, persistent, and perhaps
- 22:43uncleansable. Nonetheless, with their spirits
- 22:47waning, Claire makes a desperate call to Father Al, who agrees to
- 22:51come earlier than originally planned and makes emergency
- 22:55arrangements for himself and his paranormal expert of a friend to
- 22:59come out that night. They arrive as soon as possible.
- 23:04The paranormal expert is a man by the name of Alex Tennis, a
- 23:08well respected paranormal researcher and psychic whose
- 23:13abilities were studied at the American Society of Psychic
- 23:17Research. Together they make their way to
- 23:20the door of the Dandy House, hoping to help rid this family
- 23:24of whatever seems to be stalking them.
- 23:27After being let in, the family quickly leads the pair to the
- 23:30crawl space to show them just what they were talking about.
- 23:35Although he was aware that some sort of activity was taking
- 23:38place, Alex had not been given any additional details or
- 23:42information in regards to the home, its history, or
- 23:46happenings. As he steps into the crawlspace
- 23:50room, he begins to have a vision.
- 23:53In his vision, he sees multiple dead bodies stacked within the
- 23:57crawlspace itself. After the vision subsides, Alex
- 24:02begins to explain to the family what he saw.
- 24:05He believed that many had passed away within the home itself,
- 24:09some of natural causes and some of murder.
- 24:13It was his conviction that based on what he saw, that the house
- 24:17used to be a stopping point for a Stagecoach or perhaps some
- 24:21kind of inn where people would stay the night before departing
- 24:25the following morning. It was also his belief that
- 24:28there was a nearby criminal or gang of criminals that would
- 24:32often rob and kill nearby travellers, and that perhaps
- 24:36these souls somehow became trapped here when someone passed
- 24:41or was found dead nearby. Being the only stopping point in
- 24:44the area, their bodies would be placed in the crawl space until
- 24:49they could receive a proper burial.
- 24:51It was also his belief that there were seven different
- 24:54spirits that were trapped within the home all together.
- 24:58With this revelation, the family.
- 25:01Alex and the Father pray that the trapped spirits within the
- 25:04home find peace and be released so that they may go on to their
- 25:09final destination. Upon the pair's departure, Clara
- 25:13once again has renewed hope. The home, as it did the first
- 25:17time around, seemed to be cleansed and to be more
- 25:21peaceful. Meanwhile, Mike and his friend
- 25:24Randy were skeptical of Alex's conclusions.
- 25:28After he left, they used an old map of the area to trace where
- 25:32he had said the old Stagecoach route was.
- 25:35They did indeed find what they believed to be an old trail that
- 25:39could have been used for such a thing, and the trail passed
- 25:42right by the Dandy home. But during their search, as they
- 25:46were following the trail out and headed back to the house, they
- 25:50experienced strangeness of their own.
- 25:53As they began to trace the trail, they began to see what
- 25:56they described as orbs of light in the nearby trees, and these
- 26:01orbs began to come at them. Randy, having never seen or
- 26:05experienced anything supernatural before, began to
- 26:09have a panic attack upon arriving at the house.
- 26:13They were fortunately able to get him calmed down.
- 26:16By this point it was late in the night and the entire family
- 26:20needed to try and get some form of sleep in order to function
- 26:24the following day. Randy ended up staying the night
- 26:27since he had rode with Mike. Once everyone else was settled
- 26:31down for the night and fast asleep, Clara sat by herself
- 26:36weeping. She felt that her and her family
- 26:39were helpless in the situation and that all efforts have been
- 26:43exhausted and that they needed to move.
- 26:46The only problem was that all their money, every last dime,
- 26:51had been sunk into the house, leaving them stranded.
- 26:55She would continue to contemplate the future and would
- 26:58cry herself to sleep that night. The following morning, as the
- 27:02family began to wake up and start to try and resume some
- 27:06form of normalcy, Mike went ahead and departed with Randy to
- 27:10take him home. Several hours would go by and
- 27:14Mike hadn't returned. Finally, there was a knock on
- 27:18the door. It was a police officer.
- 27:21He informed the family that there had been an accident, that
- 27:25they needed to head to the hospital as soon as possible.
- 27:28Rushing into the car into the hospital, the Dandy family
- 27:32wondered just what had happened. There had been no mention of
- 27:36Randy by the officer at the time.
- 27:39Upon arriving, they were briefed that Mike had lost control of
- 27:42his vehicle and crashed into a nearby ditch.
- 27:46He was now undergoing emergency surgery.
- 27:49He had extensive head injuries, A ruptured spleen that may have
- 27:54to be removed, and that he had lost a very significant amount
- 27:57of blood. As they waited for the outcome
- 28:00of their son's surgery, the Dandies were once again greeted
- 28:04by the officer who had knocked on their door.
- 28:07He explained to them that Randy had indeed been dropped off and
- 28:10that Mike had wrecked on his way back to the Dandy residence, but
- 28:15as he was being loaded into the ambulance, he kept saying that
- 28:18there was another person in the car with him.
- 28:21Although they believed him to be confused on account of his
- 28:24injuries. They went ahead and searched the
- 28:26area nonetheless, but another person was never found.
- 28:31After two weeks of being in a coma, Mike finally wakes up, but
- 28:36unfortunately has no recollection as to what exactly
- 28:40happened to him to cause the accident.
- 28:43Clara, however, believes that whatever presence that's been
- 28:47plugging their lives had to have been responsible for what
- 28:50happened to her son. After months of recovery for
- 28:54Mike and continued paranormal activity within the home, Father
- 28:59Alphonsus would return with Alex one last and final time at
- 29:04Claire's request to try and rid the home of the evil and
- 29:08persistent force that had drained the life out of all of
- 29:11them for years now. However, this time just the
- 29:16Father and Alex would perform the cleansing inside the home
- 29:20themselves. As they moved from room to room,
- 29:24Alex would once again experience multiple visions of the past.
- 29:29His visions would tell him that of the seven spirits who he
- 29:32believed to be within the house, 1 was that of a young man who
- 29:37had been in some kind of a war or battle near where the
- 29:40property sits now. Another was that of a young girl
- 29:44who had passed from some sort of very painful illness in what was
- 29:48now Tina's room. And there was another spirit
- 29:52that seemed to be keeping herself and others trapped
- 29:55within the house. It was the spirit of a woman who
- 29:59was incredibly angry and resentful.
- 30:02She continued to be possessive, depressive and just as angry and
- 30:07death as she was in life. Refusing to pass on believing
- 30:13what they had identified to be the source of the paranormal
- 30:16activity, Father Al decided to take a different approach to the
- 30:20cleansing itself. Although an exorcism cannot be
- 30:24performed on a place, but rather has to be performed on an
- 30:27individual, the rights themselves could in theory be
- 30:31performed or added to a series of prayers to try and use their
- 30:35strong cleansing powers to clear out a home such as this one.
- 30:40So that's exactly what the Father did.
- 30:43He began to perform the rites of exorcism within the house
- 30:47itself. As the prayers began to exit his
- 30:50lips, varying with intensity as the rights often do, the home
- 30:55began to literally shake and the horrific moaning and wailing
- 31:00that had made itself present in the very first cleansing seemed
- 31:04to return with a vengeance. Every horrible feeling, banging,
- 31:10knocking and scratching noise that the family had experienced
- 31:13thus far was present and seemed to be magnified.
- 31:18It takes hours, but eventually the rides are finished.
- 31:23As the dust settles, so to speak, the home seems peaceful
- 31:27and blissful, like it did when the family had first visited and
- 31:32decided to buy the home. And again, for three more
- 31:35months, the family lives in peace.
- 31:39But like the persistent force that has manifested itself to
- 31:42be, the haunting begins again. The Dandy family, despite their
- 31:48best efforts, simply cannot take it anymore, decide to cut their
- 31:52losses and move. Unable to find a buyer for their
- 31:57house, they eventually declare bankruptcy.
- 32:01Shortly after this, Phil and Clara would also divorce,
- 32:06bringing a sad and bitter end to what was supposed to be a rural
- 32:10redemption for the Dandy family. However, this wouldn't be the
- 32:15end of the story of the Hinsdale House.
- 32:20Eventually, the home would come into the possession of Daniel
- 32:23Klaus, who currently owns it. Daniel's a renowned paranormal
- 32:28investigator and has been involved with the likes of Nick
- 32:32Roth and has made appearances on tons of national TV programs
- 32:37centered around the paranormal over the years.
- 32:40Having been raised in a haunted house, this led to a lifelong
- 32:44fascination with the Paranormal Forum.
- 32:47After years of restoration, it is now available for both
- 32:50investigations and tours and is still considered a very active
- 32:56paranormal portal and is kept open as a paranormal research
- 33:00location. It's even staged in the 1970s
- 33:04period to maintain the integrity of when the hauntings were
- 33:08initially known to have began. But now that we know the back
- 33:12story of the 20th and into the 21st century of the Hensdale
- 33:16house, just who owned it, what happened to them and who owns it
- 33:20now, I would like to shift your attention to some of the
- 33:24plausible theories as to what could have caused the haunting.
- 33:28Many theories of what could have caused the haunting have been
- 33:31formed over the years by the many people who have researched
- 33:34and have been interested in the case.
- 33:37One theory is that the home was built on top of an Indian burial
- 33:41mound. This of course could have
- 33:43disturbed the spirits of the natives that rested within the
- 33:46land, and although tribes who used this method of burial were
- 33:50present in the area back in history, there's little to no
- 33:53evidence to support this claim. But perhaps any evidence by this
- 33:58point could have long since been lost to the sands of time or
- 34:02could have been removed when the home was initially built.
- 34:06Another theory is that the home was at one point used as a
- 34:09Stagecoach in and passer bys were murdered either near or
- 34:14within the home itself, leading to their spirits being trapped
- 34:18within the home or on its land. Although there is evidence that
- 34:22a Stagecoach route did run very close to the home, there isn't
- 34:26direct evidence that the house itself was used as an inn, but
- 34:30it is possible murders also did take place in or around the area
- 34:35in which the home is now located, which could lend
- 34:38credence to the theories of criminals robbing and murdering
- 34:42people along the Stagecoach route.
- 34:44An old family from the area that used to own the home with the
- 34:48last name of McMahon also lends credence to the home being used
- 34:52as an inn at some point. The now past grandfather of the
- 34:56family used to tell stories of a road that passed by the house
- 35:01where stagecoaches traveled. Another theory is that one or
- 35:06several of the spirits were trapped as a result of hangings
- 35:10that took place there. The now famous hanging tree that
- 35:14sits near the residence was indeed used for executions for a
- 35:18time. Most famously, it seems, was the
- 35:21execution of a woman named Elizabeth, and Elizabeth was
- 35:26pregnant. Could this perhaps be the spirit
- 35:29of the woman who was angry and refusing to leave?
- 35:33Other events, such as a homicide that took place in the year 2000
- 35:38near the house, as well as a buzz saw incident that led to a
- 35:42boy's death, have led many to believe that whatever haunts the
- 35:46area could indeed still be there and influencing our world.
- 35:52It's important in my opinion to try and get the story and the
- 35:56facts as straight as possible, not only for the current owners
- 35:59benefit, but for the dandies who have suffered greatly as a
- 36:03result of their story becoming public, especially towards the
- 36:07end of their time at the property.
- 36:09As word got out that something strange was taking place at the
- 36:12house, a local paper ended up reaching out to the dandies for
- 36:16a statement. Thinking that they were
- 36:18accepting an opportunity for additional outside help, they
- 36:22gave their story only to be met with ridicule from the paper,
- 36:26which in turn led to ridicule from the public and nearby
- 36:30residents. Which this combined with the
- 36:32paranormal torment they were experiencing along with then
- 36:36having to file bankruptcy and then later divorce.
- 36:40In my opinion, they suffered greatly and did not benefit from
- 36:44the story especially during that time.
- 36:48The only benefit I've seen could be from Clara Miller, formerly
- 36:52Clara Dandy, who would eventually write a book known as
- 36:56Echoes of a Haunting. But to be fair, if I experienced
- 37:00even a portion of what she did, I would eventually write a book
- 37:03to catalog what happened as well.
- 37:06Not only for some monetary benefit, of course, but for my
- 37:10own sanity really. So as I've began to mention and
- 37:14will continue to mention again in the future, if you ever
- 37:17encounter anyone mentioned in this video or any of my other
- 37:21videos, whether it be in person or online, please be respectful
- 37:26of them and their experiences and do not ever harass anyone.
- 37:31And if you find yourself seemingly handed an opportunity
- 37:35that seems too good to be true the answer to your prayers, it's
- 37:40more than likely not the case. It could be a nightmare waiting
- 37:44to happen. It could be a haunted home
- 37:47infested with entities sitting and waiting for the perfect
- 37:51victim. Don't let it be you.
- 37:56Could an item, if given enough energy, devotion and focus,
- 38:01begin to take on a life of its own?
- 38:03Could it begin to exhibit human like characteristics as if it
- 38:08has been imbued with or contains some kind of soul or entity
- 38:13inside of it? This act of magic has been
- 38:15practiced by multiple religions and cults throughout the ages.
- 38:20This is just one very strange example that it could indeed be
- 38:24possible. After a gracious gift was placed
- 38:28into the arms of a little girl, tragedy would strike and what
- 38:32follows would continue to haunt the family, the citizens of the
- 38:36village, and would soon cross far beyond the barriers of land
- 38:41and sea. This is the untold story of
- 38:44Akiku, the haunted Japanese doll and the bizarre paranormal force
- 38:51that possessed it. Japan is a very mystical and
- 39:02spiritual place, a place where the souls of the past seem to
- 39:07interact with the living. Such places where the spiritual
- 39:12energy seems to be most visible is throughout many of Japan's
- 39:16spiritual temples, home to many religions, the two main ones
- 39:21being Buddhism and Shintoism. Thousands of temples exist all
- 39:27over the country, but one in particular houses a spiritual
- 39:31artifact that has a tragic back story and an even more
- 39:35terrifying story that continues to be written to this day.
- 39:40Located in Hokkaido, Japan at the Menenji Buddhist Temple is a
- 39:45doll with a bizarre and tragic back story.
- 39:48Indeed. Although there are several
- 39:51origin stories of how the doll came to be and how the temple
- 39:55became its final living space, so to speak, all of them have
- 40:00most of the main details in common.
- 40:02Therefore, I'll be telling the most agreed upon origin story to
- 40:07try and be as true to the legend as I can.
- 40:10The years 1918 in Hokkaido, Japan.
- 40:14And a 17 year old boy by the name of Ikiki Suzuki is in
- 40:19search of a gift for his little sister's birthday.
- 40:23As he pursues the different vendors and small shops,
- 40:27something soon catches his attention and one of the store
- 40:31windows. He spots a small, childlike doll
- 40:35wearing a traditional Japanese kimono.
- 40:38Knowing that he had finally found something his sister will
- 40:41love, the Kiki quickly purchases the doll and makes his way back
- 40:46home through the countryside. As the family celebrates their
- 40:50little girl's birthday, Okiku is presented with the doll and
- 40:55almost immediately, as soon as her eyes meet hers, she falls in
- 41:00love with it. The two from this point, become
- 41:03inseparable. Wherever Okiku is, her doll is
- 41:07right by her side. She Combs her hair, bathes her,
- 41:12addresses her and treats her as if she was her little sister and
- 41:17to even share meals and sleep side by side.
- 41:21The joy that the doll brought Akiku must have filled Ekiki's
- 41:25heart with such happiness. But soon, that happiness would
- 41:29change to tragedy. One hot day, as the little girl
- 41:34played outside with her doll, she was bitten by a mosquito.
- 41:38This benign insect by it would soon manifest itself into a
- 41:42horrible case of malaria. Although the family did
- 41:46everything they could possibly do, Okiku would pass away scared
- 41:52and gasping for air as she clutched her special doll all
- 41:56the way until the moment she took her last breath devastated.
- 42:01The Suzuki's plan to have their little girl buried with the doll
- 42:04since she loved it so much, but unfortunately, due to either
- 42:09governmental or religious oversight at the time, this
- 42:12wasn't an option. Instead, after they had laid a
- 42:16Kiku to rest, the doll would be placed on a small family shrine
- 42:20located within the living quarters of their home as a
- 42:24tribute of sorts to their late daughter and their love for her.
- 42:28But shortly after the doll was placed on the shrine, very
- 42:32strange things began to happen. A Kiki, upon walking past the
- 42:36shrine one day, noticed that the dolls hair seemed significantly
- 42:40longer than what it had been when it was placed there.
- 42:44The hair which was originally shoulders length on the doll
- 42:47itself and black was now overgrown with differing shades
- 42:53of brown hair also coming through and splitting at the
- 42:56ends. Finding this bizarre to say the
- 42:59least, he brought the discovery to his parents attention and
- 43:03unsure of what else to do, they trimmed the dolls hair as the
- 43:08days came and when the family began to have distressing dreams
- 43:11at night of their departed Okiku.
- 43:14Sometimes she would be scared and alone in the darkness,
- 43:18calling out to them, only being recognized by her voice.
- 43:23Other times she would blame them for what happened to her.
- 43:27Each member of the family at differing times had these
- 43:30dreams, and they would soon lead all of them to believe that
- 43:34Akiku's soul wasn't peacefully resting.
- 43:37These disturbing dreams soon became all the stranger when the
- 43:41doll, which they began to refer to as a Kiku and their
- 43:45daughter's honor, would appear by their bedsides following
- 43:50these nightmares. One such incident involved the
- 43:54father of the family waking up in a cold sweat only to be met
- 43:58face to face with a blank and lifeless stare of the doll.
- 44:05Unsure of what was taking place, the Suzuki's turn to their
- 44:09faith. After contacting a local
- 44:12Buddhist priest and having a cleansing ritual be performed on
- 44:15their home and the doll, the activity seemed to grow and
- 44:20become stronger. Accompanying their ever frequent
- 44:23nightmares and random movements of the doll, the chilling events
- 44:28grew into full blown spiritual manifestations during their
- 44:32waking life. They soon began to hear banging
- 44:35noises all throughout the house and the whispers of a little
- 44:39girl. Strange disembodied voices
- 44:43varying from high pitched like those of a child to the low
- 44:47groans of something unexplainable began to be heard.
- 44:52Their lights began to flicker on and off, and the paranormal
- 44:56activity seemed to happen more frequently as the calendar
- 45:00ticked closer to the birth and death dates of Akiku.
- 45:06These strange and terrifying happenings would continue over
- 45:09the course of the next 20 years, with multiple religious, priests
- 45:14and shamans being contacted and all coming to the same
- 45:18conclusion that after the cleansings failed time and time
- 45:21again, that the restless spirit of Akiku now inhabited the doll
- 45:26she once loved so much. Finally needing a major change
- 45:32and unable to deal with the ever intensifying spiritual presence
- 45:36that seemed to haunt their home, the Suzuki's relocated to a
- 45:40different district. Believing the doll to be the
- 45:43source of their various ailments and emotional torture that they
- 45:47had endured over the last two decades, they had no desire to
- 45:51take it with them. The family had reached the
- 45:53conclusion that if their daughter's soul wasn't at peace,
- 45:57what could perhaps be helping to fuel Akiku's power or magic was
- 46:02the close proximity of her grave to their home where the doll
- 46:06resided. So in order to distance the doll
- 46:09from the grave, the family approached the Meninge Buddhist
- 46:12Temple in Hokkaido, and over the years the dolls reputation for
- 46:17being haunted had spread throughout the community and
- 46:21indeed the majority of the country.
- 46:23This was more than likely due to the various interactions between
- 46:27the spiritual community and the Suzuki family finding the doll
- 46:31to be mesmerizing and possibly a unique opportunity to commute
- 46:36and interact with the dead. If the stories were true, the
- 46:40leaders and priests of the Meninge Temple agreed to home
- 46:43Okiku permanently. As with many legends, we find
- 46:47lots of details to be exaggerated over time and
- 46:51perhaps some of the details to not be true at all.
- 46:55And this is what the priests were originally thinking, that
- 46:58perhaps due to grief, the family was dealing with other spiritual
- 47:02ailments perhaps unrelated to the doll, or causing the doll to
- 47:06be a vessel of sorts for restless spirits.
- 47:10However, as the years came and went, as Akiku now called the
- 47:14temple her home, they began to slowly but surely experience the
- 47:19same strangeness the Suzuki's had.
- 47:22For all of those years. Akiku's hair continued to grow
- 47:27and this baffled the priests. They would eventually have the
- 47:30hair trimmed and tested, and the hair was said to belong to a
- 47:35little girl. They found that the entity
- 47:38seemed to be appeased when her hair was trimmed and combed, and
- 47:42this led to less activity for a time, but the same activity.
- 47:47The knocking, banging, and disembodied voices would soon
- 47:52plague the temple as well. No, Kiku's power only seemed to
- 47:57grow. Any priest who seemed skeptical
- 48:00of the doll or attempted to cleanse it themselves soon had
- 48:04their dreams haunted as well, turning their sleep into
- 48:07restless fits. Their homes and rooms soon also
- 48:12began to manifest the very same activity that the temple was now
- 48:16exhibiting. With no remedy seeming to work,
- 48:20the leaders turned to appeasement instead, hoping that
- 48:23gestures of goodwill would keep the entity at Bay.
- 48:27As years turn to decades, and as we've come into the 21st
- 48:31century, the priests of multiple generations now have overseen
- 48:36and cared for the Dahl known as Akiku.
- 48:39And though some of the more violent activity has faded, the
- 48:43general consensus is that she is now just as powerful as she was,
- 48:47or is perhaps more powerful as she's continued to age.
- 48:52It seems like as the more her fame and notoriety grows, the
- 48:56more visitors she has, the stronger she becomes.
- 49:01She continues to invade the dreams of those who come to
- 49:03visit her, and her hair is growing faster and more afraid.
- 49:09She's said to drive tourists mad who doubt her, with many people
- 49:13even reporting that besides seeing her strange hair and
- 49:17feeling a malevolent presence when visiting her, they've also
- 49:21had her stalk and appear in their dreams.
- 49:25Some more disturbing and recent reports have even suggested that
- 49:28her mouth is slowly opening and that if you dare to appear
- 49:32inside of it, you may just catch a glimpse of baby like teeth
- 49:37sprouting from her porcelain gums.
- 49:40As if whoever or whatever she is is slowly turning to flesh and
- 49:46bone. The paranormal displays of her
- 49:49power continue to occur as well. Her permanent home, located
- 49:53within the menaging temple, is her own private shrine, where
- 49:57she sits in a small wooden box on display.
- 50:01It is here that she watches and waits for anyone and everyone
- 50:06who dares to play with fire and invoke the power of the entity
- 50:11known as Okiku. But what are your thoughts?
- 50:16Was a Kiku the girl trapped inside of the doll?
- 50:19In my opinion, although her spirit would be much older now,
- 50:23at the time of her death she was either close to or was three
- 50:27years old, and no person at that age is capable of true malice to
- 50:32the point to where she would become aware enough to begin to
- 50:35blame her parents and then torment them for decades to come
- 50:40as children. Our parents, or our family, or
- 50:43our entire world. So I find it incredibly
- 50:46difficult to think that these bizarre happenings were the
- 50:50result of her soul being restless and imbuing the doll.
- 50:54What I find more likely, and all the more interesting really, is
- 50:58the thought of invocation or the imbuing of the doll.
- 51:02Like a conduit or a vessel of sorts.
- 51:05Akiku the girl was, as they said, inseparable from the
- 51:09stall. She fed it, bathed it, took naps
- 51:13with it, and everything else a small child would do with that
- 51:17wonderful imagination that they have.
- 51:19But could all of this dedication and focus accompanied with the
- 51:23tragedy that took place allow for a portal to open for an
- 51:28entity, whether non human or a restless human spirit to inhabit
- 51:33the doll? And by non human I mean a demon.
- 51:37This would make sense to me. Something that enjoys and grows
- 51:41more powerful off of pain and misfortune or the emotional
- 51:45torment of others. As it causes the pain, it feeds
- 51:49off of it and grows ever stronger.
- 51:52This would not only explain the malevolent manifestations of
- 51:55whatever entity is present, but would also explain the still
- 51:59present force and the alleged ever growing power of it.
- 52:03And depending on the entity's strength, it could also explain
- 52:06why the cleansings thus far have failed.
- 52:10However, if you find yourself taking a trip to Japan anytime
- 52:14soon, or you happen to call Japan home if you find yourself
- 52:19in Hokkaido, you may want to steer clear of the Menajin
- 52:22Temple. Because if you don't, the entity
- 52:25that inhabits the doll known as a Kiku may just use you as its
- 52:30next feeding source, where it'll begin to plague your dreams,
- 52:35making you twist and turn, sweat and fear.
- 52:41As it grows ever stronger and attempts to cross from its world
- 52:46into ours, making our plane of existence its permanent
- 52:51residence. An unsuspecting family finds
- 52:55what they believe to be the perfect home.
- 52:58But underneath the facade of this charming farmhouse, there
- 53:02is a sinister force, dark as the abyss.
- 53:07Lying underneath the heavy fog upon the land, there lies
- 53:11generations of graves. These graves could hold the key
- 53:16to solving their paranormal nightmare.
- 53:19This is the untold story of the old Arnold Estate, also known as
- 53:24The Conjuring House, and the demonic forces that dwell within
- 53:29it. Harrisville, RI A small town
- 53:49located on America's East Coast with just a population of an
- 53:53estimated 1800 people. Like many towns across the
- 53:57country, you could easily overlook this one at face value,
- 54:02but it's when we take a deeper look we discover that this
- 54:05little town has a dark history. Its story is filled with death,
- 54:12from murders to drownings and much more.
- 54:16With all these unfortunate happenings in mind and makes one
- 54:19beg the question, could there be something evil that stalks this
- 54:24place? Something that feeds upon
- 54:26suffering and misery? Perhaps there is, and perhaps
- 54:31that is what contributed to the creation of the following story.
- 54:37It all starts in Central Falls, RI in 1970, where the Peron
- 54:42family, which consisted of mother Carolyn, father Roger,
- 54:48and their five daughters Andrea, Nancy, Christine, Cynthia and
- 54:54April, we're all living a relatively normal life.
- 54:58Among things like school, work and outdoor play.
- 55:03Nothing seemed quite out of the ordinary, yet the children had
- 55:09been gifted a puppy with an exceptionally unique personality
- 55:14and out of the ether. A name came to mind when they
- 55:17were naming her Bathsheba. A unique dog with a unique name.
- 55:24She was fond of all the children, but especially Andrea,
- 55:28Now 10 years old. She would often take Bathsheba
- 55:32for walks around their suburban neighborhood.
- 55:36However, on one of those walks, tragedy would strike and would
- 55:40seemingly set in motion a snowball effect that would
- 55:44follow the family for years to come.
- 55:48While Andrea had the puppy out in the neighborhood, her sisters
- 55:51had come up from playing outside and decided to make the walk a
- 55:55group activity. All seemed fine until a car full
- 55:59of teenagers drove by at an incredibly high rate of speed.
- 56:04They seemed to be yelling something in unison and had
- 56:08brightly colored tassels hanging out of their windows.
- 56:12Bathsheba was an obedient dog, but the flailing and bright
- 56:16colored streamers caught her attention and in an instant she
- 56:20broke loose from Andrea and bolted towards the vehicle.
- 56:26The shocked girls then watched the car miss her by mere inches
- 56:30as she made her way safely across the road.
- 56:33But being the good dog that she was, upon hearing Andrea call
- 56:37out to her again, she began to run back to them and in the
- 56:42blink of an eye, she was struck by another vehicle, an elderly
- 56:47couple that never even saw her. Her leash had gotten caught
- 56:52around one of the wheels of their car when they hit her and
- 56:55she was suffering immensely. A nearby neighbor called the
- 56:59police, and upon removing the children from the scene, they
- 57:03were traumatized further as they heard the gunshot that ended the
- 57:08poor animal's life. The entire family now held a
- 57:12deep despair at the tragedy that had taken place.
- 57:16She wasn't just a pet, she was a member of the family, and there
- 57:20was now an unspoken pain that haunted them.
- 57:24The family had planned a vacation months prior and hoped
- 57:28that a break from their normal routine would help everyone.
- 57:32So they went and soon some of their sadness turned to joy as
- 57:37the family experienced hotel, swimming pools, ice cream and
- 57:42shopping. But this joy would too be short
- 57:46lived. The family also had four cats
- 57:50and upon returning to their home with this new found sense of
- 57:54well-being, they would endure even more trauma.
- 57:58They would discover that almost all of their cats had been
- 58:02viciously killed by neighborhood kids while they were gone.
- 58:06Several had every bone in their bodies broken with a baseball
- 58:11bat. Upon this horrific discovery,
- 58:14their father, Roger, rushed inside the house to call the
- 58:17police, only to find their home absolutely ransacked as well.
- 58:23Furniture was upside down, mirrors and windows broken, all
- 58:29of their provisions left to spoil from their tipped over
- 58:32fridge, and their carpet was doused in motor oil.
- 58:37It would later be discovered that two of their cats were
- 58:40killed by the group of the kids. One would never be seen again
- 58:44and the other had been seriously beaten but would survive.
- 58:50Although the neighborhood was known for angsty teenagers and
- 58:53roughhousing kids, the family wondered how could these kids
- 58:57conduct such evil? Did the devil's foot soldiers
- 59:01know no bounds? A police report was filed and it
- 59:06was shortly uncovered that the demon seed who had LED these
- 59:09awful actions was their 12 year old neighbor.
- 59:13The young man was seemingly a born criminal.
- 59:16Upon being confronted, the boy's mother covered for her son, and
- 59:21despite their best efforts, due to lack of evidence, nothing
- 59:25much would come of the report with the police, but Andrea
- 59:29would have her revenge. She had yet to come to terms
- 59:33with her precious Bathsheba's death, and now this, the rage
- 59:38inside of her built. After some thorough planning,
- 59:43she attacked the boy who was responsible, beating him
- 59:46ferociously, breaking his nose, blackening his eyes until she
- 59:52was pried off by a nearby neighbor and told to go home.
- 59:57All this wouldn't bring her animals back, but it felt
- 1:00:00justified to the young girl, given what the boy had done.
- 1:00:05But these antics of sadness, hostility, and rage would soon
- 1:00:09manifest into something much darker.
- 1:00:13Ever since their home was ransacked, Carolyn had wanted to
- 1:00:18move, but knowing they weren't in a financial state to do so.
- 1:00:23They had little to no choice other than to stay, so she kept
- 1:00:27an ever watchful eye on her children, letting them out of
- 1:00:31the house rarely and mostly under her supervision.
- 1:00:34Given the prior events, she wanted them raised by wild
- 1:00:38nature, not wild beasts. Shortly after this time, Rodger
- 1:00:44had prepared to depart for a business trip which was to last
- 1:00:47several days. Even amidst the turmoil of the
- 1:00:51current events, he still had to provide for his large family.
- 1:00:56And while his family was just waking up that morning, as he
- 1:00:59and his wife Carolyn enjoyed their morning cup of coffee,
- 1:01:03they were suddenly startled by the sound of a large explosion
- 1:01:07in their front yard, like someone had fired a cannon
- 1:01:11towards their house. Alarmed, they raced outside to
- 1:01:15discover what had happened. Shortly after purchasing their
- 1:01:20humble home, Carolyn had built a rock garden of sorts at the
- 1:01:25entrance of their driveway. Her friends often teased her
- 1:01:29that it's centerpiece resembled a tombstone without the
- 1:01:33inscription of the dearly departed.
- 1:01:37Well to the family shock, their neighbor from across the street
- 1:01:41had started his truck that morning and had suffered a major
- 1:01:44heart attack and had died at the wheel, his foot pressing down on
- 1:01:49the gas causing the truck to barrel directly at the parents
- 1:01:53home to smash right into that large rock.
- 1:01:57It was almost like something was following them, like a living
- 1:02:02breathing Organism feeding upon it.
- 1:02:06After this horrible event people began to refer to the rock
- 1:02:09garden as the graveyard. Missus Curtis, the wife of the
- 1:02:15neighbor who had passed away, upon being greeted and offered
- 1:02:19condolences by the family, actually blamed them for what
- 1:02:23had happened, declaring that Carolyn never liked them anyway
- 1:02:28and was a witch. That was enough for her.
- 1:02:32Again, she begged Roger to move, but they were seemingly stuck
- 1:02:37given the awful circumstances. The man still had to work, so he
- 1:02:43departed for his business trip. While her husband was gone, it
- 1:02:47was up to Carolyn to take care of their five children.
- 1:02:51This meant taking them to and from school, as well as music
- 1:02:55lessons and much more. While attending her daughter
- 1:02:59Andrea's music lessons, she had forgotten to bring a book to
- 1:03:03help her pass the time, so Carolyn went and purchased a
- 1:03:06paper as a substitute. Before too long she found
- 1:03:10herself daydreaming and looking through the various ads and real
- 1:03:14estate available, wanting and wishing that she could change
- 1:03:18their current predicament when strangely enough, the universe
- 1:03:23seemed to glance back at her. Hidden among many other homes
- 1:03:27was a nine bedroom farmhouse with a barn, lots of land and
- 1:03:32seclusion. It's beautiful design and
- 1:03:36elegance soon had Carolyn imagining her children playing
- 1:03:40and being raised in nature as she wanted, and she could allow
- 1:03:44them to do so without the fear of other children attempting to
- 1:03:47harm them. She almost immediately became
- 1:03:50obsessed with the idea of purchasing the house and
- 1:03:54although the family really couldn't afford it at the time
- 1:03:57without seeking Roger's permission, she made a call and
- 1:04:02went to look at the old Arnold estate the following day.
- 1:04:06The owner was a very nice old lady, and although she didn't
- 1:04:09have much, Carolyn asked how much she would have to put down
- 1:04:13to hold the home so she could purchase it once her husband had
- 1:04:17returned. An agreement of $500 as a good
- 1:04:21faith payment was made, and shortly after Roger arrived back
- 1:04:25home several days later, he was sideswiped by his wife's
- 1:04:30decision, although his anger would soon turn to
- 1:04:34understanding. After all, a happy wife makes
- 1:04:38for a happy life, as most would say.
- 1:04:41Even though he didn't know exactly how they would make it
- 1:04:44work, he decided to placate his wife and allow them to purchase
- 1:04:48the home. It took some time, but before
- 1:04:52too long they found themselves packing and coming into
- 1:04:56possession of the keys to their future.
- 1:04:59Although they couldn't foresee just how dark of the future it
- 1:05:02was to be the parent family, having seemingly found the home
- 1:05:10of their dreams located on a large swath of land outside of
- 1:05:14the town of Harrisville, RI, what would become known as the
- 1:05:19Old Arnold Estate almost seemed to perfect like an answer to
- 1:05:24their desperate prayers. It's a large farmhouse which has
- 1:05:299 bedrooms, a barn, and plenty of land which they can envision
- 1:05:34their children playing on and having a wonderful time.
- 1:05:38Although it's winter, they go ahead and begin to move into
- 1:05:42their new house. There's a massive snowstorm
- 1:05:46taking place while they're moving in, but this doesn't
- 1:05:49deter the large family from getting settled in to what they
- 1:05:52believe is going to be a charming, nice and new home for
- 1:05:57all of them. Given everything they've been
- 1:06:00through, I would have hoped for the same.
- 1:06:03And for the first three months, things are charming, nice and
- 1:06:07normal. Their rustic farmhouse has its
- 1:06:10challenges with it being fairly old, such as being very cold
- 1:06:15that winter, but it's nothing they can't deal with, or so they
- 1:06:20think. All around, the feeling is a
- 1:06:23happy one for the family. But this happy mood would soon
- 1:06:28change. Upon meeting their nearest
- 1:06:31neighbors, they seemed rather strange.
- 1:06:35They offered one piece of advice to Roger and Carolyn.
- 1:06:39For the love of your family, keep the lights on at night.
- 1:06:43Originally written off by the couple, these words would seem
- 1:06:47to be rather fitting foreshadowing for the events to
- 1:06:50come. When the frozen land of the farm
- 1:06:53began to thaw, it seemed like something thawed along with it
- 1:06:57and began to plague them once again.
- 1:07:01One night when the daughters, Nancy and Andrea were asleep in
- 1:07:05their shared room, they're suddenly woken up by the sound
- 1:07:09of their door slamming open and closed, open and closed.
- 1:07:15Petrified by the noise of the door smacking the wall and it
- 1:07:19also being their only way out of the room, they ran towards the
- 1:07:23door to try and escape when suddenly it stopped moving and
- 1:07:28just stayed open, still creaking from being moved.
- 1:07:35Catching their breath and trying to come to terms with what had
- 1:07:38just happened, Thinking by this point maybe one of their other
- 1:07:42sisters was trying to play a prank on them, the 2 girls
- 1:07:45looked down the hall and eventually made their way to
- 1:07:48their other sisters rooms where they found them asleep.
- 1:07:54Needless to say they wouldn't sleep for the rest of the night.
- 1:07:58They would bring this to the attention of their parents the
- 1:08:00following morning, but were quickly dismissed, as is often
- 1:08:05the case, and told that they had overactive imaginations.
- 1:08:10From here, things started small but became very noticeable as
- 1:08:15they mushroomed into much bigger experiences.
- 1:08:19At first, whatever spirits they believed could be in the house
- 1:08:23seemed benevolent, almost good-natured, with some of the
- 1:08:27younger siblings later stating that they would even be tucked
- 1:08:30into bed by the spirit of a woman on occasion, but that was
- 1:08:34all too short lived. Items soon began to go missing.
- 1:08:39Car keys weren't where they had been hung daily.
- 1:08:42Items such as mugs, toys, and utensils were soon disappearing
- 1:08:48as well. Carolyn would hear the scraping
- 1:08:51of a broom upon the floor or the knocking of a kettle in the
- 1:08:54kitchen when no one else was home but her.
- 1:08:58With this, upon cleaning the floors, she would also find
- 1:09:03piles of dirt that would appear out of nowhere, making her feel
- 1:09:07as if she was going crazy. But these small happenings too
- 1:09:12would soon become larger. The children would often play a
- 1:09:16game called Hide and Clap, a version of hide and go Seek.
- 1:09:20This time, Andrea was the seeker and her sisters went off hiding
- 1:09:25throughout the estate. Cindy made her way into the
- 1:09:28woodshed, found a small box just big enough for her to get
- 1:09:32inside. Being determined to win, she
- 1:09:35climbed into the box and slid the small lid over the top,
- 1:09:39figuring this would be an excellent hiding place indeed.
- 1:09:43And after several minutes, she realized that no one was coming
- 1:09:47for her and went to remove the lid.
- 1:09:50Except it wouldn't budget. Panicking and utter darkness,
- 1:09:55she used all means necessary to try and remove the lid and free
- 1:10:00herself. After screaming and worrying
- 1:10:03that she'd suffocate inside this box, she was thankfully found by
- 1:10:08Andrea, who slid the lid off no problem, revealed her horribly
- 1:10:13distressed younger sister inside.
- 1:10:16It's important to note that this was a sliding cover.
- 1:10:20There was no locking mechanism. Along with this terrifying
- 1:10:24event, the children's rooms were often rearranged daily.
- 1:10:29They would leave their things one way in the morning and
- 1:10:32return to things either completely a mess, as if a small
- 1:10:35cyclone had hit their rooms, or all items would be smashed
- 1:10:39underneath their beds. And this happened to all of the
- 1:10:43girls at one point or another. These small whispers, bangings
- 1:10:49and movements did indeed become larger.
- 1:10:53Andrea, being the oldest, would often be woken up by her younger
- 1:10:57siblings and would hold them as they sobbed their eyes out,
- 1:11:02terrified to return to their rooms.
- 1:11:05Cindy, in particular, began to hear a sinister voice call out
- 1:11:09to her almost every night. The voice would tell her that
- 1:11:13there were seven dead soldiers in the walls and would repeat it
- 1:11:17over and over and over again. The children, now terrified,
- 1:11:25begged their parents to believe them, and although they too were
- 1:11:29beginning to experience things on their own, they didn't want
- 1:11:32to frighten the children, so they did what could be done to
- 1:11:36placate them. But soon the entire family began
- 1:11:40to hear the wails of something inhuman calling out for its
- 1:11:45mother. This disturbing trend with no
- 1:11:48origin was followed by even more disturbing happenings.
- 1:11:53The beds of the girls would lift up and shake by an unseen force,
- 1:11:58almost always around 5:15 AM, as if something was trying to send
- 1:12:04some kind of a message, although it was never clear just what
- 1:12:08that message was supposed to be. During the day, the apparitions
- 1:12:13of spirits began to manifest and stock the halls of the old
- 1:12:17Arnold estate. These were soon coupled by the
- 1:12:21horrible stench of rotting flesh wafting throughout the house.
- 1:12:27Soon the girls weren't the only ones whose doors were slamming
- 1:12:31open and closed and whose beds were lifting up on their own.
- 1:12:36Soon it was affecting their parents as well.
- 1:12:39One night, Carolyn woke up suddenly to the figure of an old
- 1:12:43woman over the foot of her bed. Her hair was like a sack of
- 1:12:47cobwebs with little tendrils hanging off.
- 1:12:51The woman's head was also bent and hanging off to the side of
- 1:12:55her neck as if it was horribly broken and mangled, her gnarled
- 1:13:00mouth screaming at her with an echoing voice.
- 1:13:05Get out, She shouted over and over again until she suddenly
- 1:13:11was no longer there. The parent family continued to
- 1:13:15endure a living nightmare as the traumatic paranormal activity
- 1:13:19persisted and continue to scale in intensity.
- 1:13:27How does one fight an enemy he can't see?
- 1:13:30Something he can't touch or feel, attack or defend against?
- 1:13:37This question and more must have ran through the heads of Rodger
- 1:13:40and Carolyn as they not only feared for themselves, but
- 1:13:44especially their children. Now as their offspring's natural
- 1:13:48protectors. How anxiety inducing must it
- 1:13:52have been to know that they were powerless to stop what was
- 1:13:56terrorizing all of them each and every night.
- 1:14:01In an effort to try and understand what was happening to
- 1:14:03them, Carolyn began to research the history of their house and
- 1:14:08was shocked by what she found. Over 8 generations of the Arnold
- 1:14:13family had lived and died within the home, some by horrible
- 1:14:19means, according to the Black Book of Burlville, the town's
- 1:14:24former public records book. These included two suicides by
- 1:14:28hanging, one within the family barn, one by poison, the assault
- 1:14:35and murder of a young girl named Prudence Arnold by a farm hint,
- 1:14:402 drownings in the nearby Creek, and four men who froze to death.
- 1:14:45Among some of the notable deaths, one death that caught
- 1:14:50her eye in particular was that of a woman named Bathsheba
- 1:14:54Sherman. Her name was spelled exactly
- 1:14:58like their dog that they had previously owned, and her story
- 1:15:02was as interesting as it was disturbing.
- 1:15:06Born Bathsheba there in 1812, she married fellow Rhode
- 1:15:11Islander Judson Sherman and Thompson, CT on March 10th,
- 1:15:171844. According to available
- 1:15:20information from that time, the two had a son named Herbert, and
- 1:15:25for all intents and purposes, things seemed normal.
- 1:15:29But that couldn't be further from the truth.
- 1:15:32After losing three children before the age of 7, Bathsheba
- 1:15:36began to care for her neighbor's children, perhaps to fill the
- 1:15:40void that such sorrow could create.
- 1:15:43And it's here where things take a strange turn.
- 1:15:47While caring for the infant of a nearby family, the infant
- 1:15:51suddenly passed away within Bathsheba's care.
- 1:15:55An investigation ensued and it was found that the child had a
- 1:15:59puncture wound in its skull, as if someone had taken a large
- 1:16:03sewing needle and sent it through the child's head.
- 1:16:08Rumors of devil worship and witchcraft soon became rife,
- 1:16:14with many believing she had indeed sacrificed her children
- 1:16:17to Satan, robbing them of their young lives.
- 1:16:21Although Bathsheba was never punished for the child's death
- 1:16:25since there was never a trial, that didn't stop her behavior
- 1:16:29from becoming increasingly bizarre.
- 1:16:32She became incredibly reclusive, strange and dark.
- 1:16:39Rumors say that she supposedly attempted to murder other
- 1:16:42children while confessing her love for Satan before she then
- 1:16:47climbed atop the highest tree on the estate, cursing everyone
- 1:16:52before hanging herself. And although that would make for
- 1:16:56a much more fascinating story, it doesn't seem to be true.
- 1:17:00The rumors may indeed have been spread and their evidence of
- 1:17:04multiple child deaths including the infant via needle like
- 1:17:08object, but her tombstone reads her death date as May 25th, 1885
- 1:17:16S Odds are that she passed away as an old woman, but perhaps
- 1:17:20given the circumstances she became more bitter with age.
- 1:17:25Another strange detail that was uncovered was one of the hanging
- 1:17:29deaths that took place within the barn on the estate.
- 1:17:33It was that of Catherine Arnold. She had, seemingly out of the
- 1:17:37blue one day, made her way from the house to the barn, gathered
- 1:17:43a rope, and hung herself from the rafters.
- 1:17:47She was frozen solid when she was later discovered.
- 1:17:52It seemed like whatever paranormal force that stalked
- 1:17:55the land tormented the matriarchs of the families that
- 1:17:59lived there and fed upon death itself.
- 1:18:04These supernatural occurrences that now plagued the Perron
- 1:18:07family were a daily occurrence. They soon also began to
- 1:18:12physically touch the family as well.
- 1:18:16Poking soon turned to pushing, a hand on the shoulder soon turned
- 1:18:20to slapping, scratching, and more.
- 1:18:25One day when Carolyn was reading a book in the living room, she
- 1:18:29felt a piercing pain in her calf.
- 1:18:33Upon further examination, she saw what appeared to be a
- 1:18:36puncture wound, like that of a needle, with a small dribble of
- 1:18:40blood now coming out of her leg. These attacks didn't stop here.
- 1:18:48Carolyn soon believed that it was Bathsheba who was causing
- 1:18:51the majority of her problems. The spirit seemed to hide her
- 1:18:55things daily, making her feel as if she was going insane while
- 1:19:00simultaneously lusting after her husband.
- 1:19:04In later interviews, Roger would state that he never felt
- 1:19:08threatened by her spirit and that he only ever saw her
- 1:19:11sweeter side, such as comforting touches and the feeling of an
- 1:19:16embrace. To the contrary, his poor wife
- 1:19:20experienced much, much worse. Andrea Peron, also in later
- 1:19:26interviews, said that the whole family believed it was the
- 1:19:29spirit of Bathsheba who was mostly tormenting Carolyn, as if
- 1:19:34she saw herself as the matriarch or the mistress of the house,
- 1:19:39and that Carolyn was some kind of competition, an obstacle
- 1:19:43between her and Roger's affection.
- 1:19:47On the verge of losing her mind and being tortured daily, the
- 1:19:51family was barely holding things together, most of all Carolyn.
- 1:19:58She had vented to a friend of hers named Barbara about what
- 1:20:01she had been going through, and strangely enough, this friend
- 1:20:05just so happened to attend a lecture that was being given by
- 1:20:09renowned paranormal scholars and demonologists Ed and Lorraine
- 1:20:14Warren. It was Barbara that actually
- 1:20:17told the Warrens about the parents and their struggles.
- 1:20:22Intrigued, they were put into mutual contact with one another
- 1:20:26and before too long, the Warrens arrived at the front door of the
- 1:20:31old Arnold estate. Upon stepping into the home for
- 1:20:35the first time, Lorraine Warren noticed a heavy and malevolent
- 1:20:40presence. Upon further convening over the
- 1:20:43course of several weeks, the couple told the family that they
- 1:20:47indeed were being haunted by the spirit of Bathsheba and that she
- 1:20:52had made a pact with Satan himself after sacrificing one of
- 1:20:57her children to him. She then hung herself on the
- 1:21:00property in order to haunt it forever.
- 1:21:04This is why the family was often seeing the mangled necked
- 1:21:07apparition of the woman with wispy hair.
- 1:21:11This was apparently her. Over the course of several
- 1:21:15months, the Warrens would visit the old Arnold estate in order
- 1:21:19to try and assist the family with riding themselves of the
- 1:21:22spirits, but it was all to no avail.
- 1:21:26All of these events seem to culminate with a seance. 1
- 1:21:29stormy night. The Perrons, Roger and Carolyn,
- 1:21:34along with the Warrens were joined by a priest and a fellow
- 1:21:38medium to conduct a seance to try and establish further
- 1:21:42contact with the entities within the home to understand just why
- 1:21:47they were plugging the family. The girls were confined to their
- 1:21:51rooms upstairs and were not allowed to partake in the
- 1:21:54ritual. The ritual was conducted in the
- 1:21:57basement, one of the alleged sources of the dark energy
- 1:22:02according to Lorraine Warren. And in the middle of this
- 1:22:05ritual, Carolyn seemingly became possessed as she exhibited
- 1:22:11violent behavior. She was restrained to a chair in
- 1:22:14order to prevent her from hurting herself and others.
- 1:22:18The entity that now inhabited her body claimed to be that of
- 1:22:22Bathsheba, and before everyone's eyes that was present, Carolyn
- 1:22:27began to not only speak a language that was
- 1:22:30unrecognizable, but in a voice that wasn't her own.
- 1:22:35She then began to levitate in the chair and flew across the
- 1:22:39room. Although they were forbid to
- 1:22:42witness the event, as curious children often do, Andrea, along
- 1:22:48with her sister Cindy, snuck open the basement door and
- 1:22:51watched the events unfold for themselves.
- 1:22:55Their testimonies are also where some of these details are
- 1:22:58sourced from. Carolyn was now mangled and
- 1:23:03distorted, her body twisted in an unnatural position.
- 1:23:09After several hours of attempting to cast the spirit
- 1:23:11out, she finally went limp and laid catatonic on the floor.
- 1:23:18After his wife had seemingly been freed, Roger called the
- 1:23:22entire thing off. He was not only concerned for
- 1:23:25his wife's well-being, but his children's as well.
- 1:23:30And although the Warrens were trying to help, things just
- 1:23:33seemed to get so much worse when they were there.
- 1:23:37So disregarding their advice, he threw them out and forbid them
- 1:23:41and their associates from ever investigating the hauntings at
- 1:23:45the old Arnold estate ever again.
- 1:23:49Later in life, a 77 year old Roger would recall she was
- 1:23:54possessed. Her entire body was distorted
- 1:23:58and it lasted several hours until they de demonized her.
- 1:24:03Then I threw them out. I couldn't take it anymore.
- 1:24:08The family's torment would continue with varying intensity
- 1:24:12until 1980, when they were finally able to sell the old
- 1:24:16Arnold Estate and move to Georgia and a bid to rebuild
- 1:24:20their lives. Finally, they were free of the
- 1:24:23horrible events that have plagued them for nearly a
- 1:24:26decade. But all those happenings, all
- 1:24:30those traumatic moments would never be forgotten by any of
- 1:24:34them. They all realized that they were
- 1:24:37truly lucky to have escaped with their lives as well as their
- 1:24:41sanity. Going back and not only reading
- 1:24:45various interviews, Andrea Peron's books, and watching
- 1:24:49interviews with the family, they not only seemed genuine, but
- 1:24:53really had nothing to gain by claiming to have experienced
- 1:24:56these things. It truly seemed like they had
- 1:24:58suffered. I mean, they threw out the
- 1:25:00Warrens, which is interesting in and of itself, but if I saw my
- 1:25:05wife twisted and exhibiting demonic behavior, I probably
- 1:25:09would be pretty freaked out as well.
- 1:25:12The story of the haunting of the old Arnold estate and the Peron
- 1:25:15family was used as the basis for The Conjuring movie, in which
- 1:25:20they were also used as consultants for accuracy's sake.
- 1:25:24And the film does of course take liberties as most Hollywood
- 1:25:28films do, but it's a good one for sure.
- 1:25:32But having watched this video, you're now probably aware of
- 1:25:35what really happened. Since the selling of the home,
- 1:25:39reviews have been mixed by other residents, with one lady
- 1:25:42claiming that the home wasn't haunted at all and even
- 1:25:45condemning and suing The Conjuring film makers for
- 1:25:49causing her distress through trespassers, and others stating
- 1:25:53that the home is still, very, well, haunted indeed.
- 1:25:56More current owners, who we'll call Corey and Jennifer,
- 1:26:01welcomed the spirits and the history of the home when they
- 1:26:03moved in, claiming to have only slept in the smaller wing of the
- 1:26:08estate for the first four months that they lived there.
- 1:26:11They didn't want to overstep their boundaries with whatever
- 1:26:14was haunting the property. When they finally opened up the
- 1:26:17door to the wing of the larger part of the house the very same
- 1:26:21night, they both claimed to be woken up by a shadowy figure.
- 1:26:26Their couple would say that it was pitch black in color and
- 1:26:29peeking at them from behind the door frame.
- 1:26:33Although most people would be terrified at the prospect of
- 1:26:35dealing with a shadow figure of any sort, the couple understood
- 1:26:39that they were guests in this home even though they had
- 1:26:42purchased it. And we're just excited to have
- 1:26:45experienced anything. But they also admit that
- 1:26:49although they do continue to experience strange things from
- 1:26:52time to time, it's nothing like what the Perrons say they
- 1:26:55experienced. Nothing quite as malevolent or
- 1:26:59evil by any means. Despite criticism and support,
- 1:27:05the Prones to this day remain adamant that their story is
- 1:27:08true, with Andrea saying in an interview with USA TODAY.
- 1:27:13Both my mother and I would soon swallow our tongue and tell a
- 1:27:17lie. People are free to believe
- 1:27:19whatever they want, but we know what we've experienced prior to
- 1:27:24her death. When asked about the events of
- 1:27:27The Haunting Lorraine, Warren claimed that she still felt
- 1:27:30traumatized all these years later about what had taken place
- 1:27:34that stormy night during the seance at the old Arnold Estate,
- 1:27:38Saying that the things that happened there were so
- 1:27:41incredibly frightening and it still affects me to talk about
- 1:27:44it to this day. She, of course, was reunited
- 1:27:48with Ed on April 18th of 2019. God rest her soul these days.
- 1:27:55People who have visited the house, such as various
- 1:27:58paranormal groups, researchers, and fans of The Conjuring
- 1:28:02universe, have described feeling multiple things for stepping in
- 1:28:06the home, some claiming to see shadow figures, others a feeling
- 1:28:11of a heavy presence to the points where it makes them
- 1:28:14nauseous. Regardless, there certainly does
- 1:28:18seem to be something there all around.
- 1:28:22I think the haunting, given all the research I've done is more
- 1:28:25than likely legitimate. There's too many sources backing
- 1:28:29up what took place. Not to mention the family didn't
- 1:28:32gain anything from experiencing what they did, and surviving
- 1:28:36members still claim it's all true to this day.
- 1:28:40If you'd like to learn more, I'm listing the sources I used for
- 1:28:43research in the description below, as well as various links
- 1:28:47to Andrea Peron's books which tell the full story of her and
- 1:28:52her family. I, of course, am not affiliated
- 1:28:55with her or anyone else involved in any way, I just find them to
- 1:28:59be an interesting and very useful resource.
- 1:29:03So if you find yourself in hard times and are presented with
- 1:29:06what seems like a gift from the universe, just know that if it's
- 1:29:11too good to be true, it probably is.
- 1:29:15And the dream home that you can't wait to live in could be
- 1:29:18infested with generations of death and despair demons which
- 1:29:24could still be lurking and stalking the property.
- 1:29:29So my advice? If it sounds too good to be
- 1:29:32true, it is. And please research a home's
- 1:29:37history before you buy it, or you may be stuck with a decade
- 1:29:41of paranormal torment. Or worse, you may become its
- 1:29:46newest permanent resident. Can death unleash something into
- 1:29:54this world that isn't supposed to be here?
- 1:29:58Could it act like a portal, allowing something sinister and
- 1:30:01dark to creep in just before it closes?
- 1:30:05Especially if the person passing is harboring dark and abhorrent
- 1:30:10secrets? When a young man begins to
- 1:30:13exhibit strange and demonic behavior and the very laws of
- 1:30:18nature seem to bend to his will, can a reverend work to save his
- 1:30:23very soul? Documented by multiple law
- 1:30:26enforcement professionals as unexplained to this day, this is
- 1:30:30certainly not a story you will want to miss.
- 1:30:33This is the untold story of Don Decker, also known as the Rain
- 1:30:39Man of Pennsylvania. The date is February 24th, 1983
- 1:30:49and on this cold, misty day, a family is mourning the loss of
- 1:30:54their loved 1A man by the name of James Keshaw.
- 1:31:01After battling alcoholism for many years, the bottle finally
- 1:31:05took its toll and caused cirrhosis of the liver which
- 1:31:10became fatal. Among the pews of friends and
- 1:31:14family paying their respects sits a young man, the grandson
- 1:31:19of James, 21 year old Don Decker.
- 1:31:23Donna Be granted furlough from his four to 12 month jail
- 1:31:26sentence for receiving stolen property in order to attend the
- 1:31:31funeral. But as he sat facing the body of
- 1:31:34his grandfather, as others paid their last respects and gave
- 1:31:39glowing speeches about the man, Don clenched his fists.
- 1:31:45Only he harbored a dark secret that no one else knew, and this
- 1:31:50secret is perhaps what contributed to his troubled
- 1:31:54adolescence. When it was his turn to walk up
- 1:31:57and say goodbye to James. As he stood over his body, the
- 1:32:02face of evil looked back at him with eyes closed for the first
- 1:32:07time. Don would later say it felt like
- 1:32:11good triumphing over evil that day, and I truly felt like
- 1:32:15everything was going to get better, like it was a turning
- 1:32:19point in my life. The secret that he had been
- 1:32:23holding on to for so long was that James, his very own
- 1:32:28grandfather, had abused him from the time he was seven years old
- 1:32:33until he was a teenager and no one else knew.
- 1:32:37All the years of pain and fear were caused by that man.
- 1:32:42The very same that now laid in the coffin.
- 1:32:45The very same that Dawn was now having to hear others praise and
- 1:32:50who he was publicly obligated to mourn at the conclusion of the
- 1:32:55funeral when James casket was laid into its final resting
- 1:32:59place. He couldn't stand the way his
- 1:33:01parents had glorified the man's memory, but given the
- 1:33:05circumstances he was in furloughed from jail and with
- 1:33:09emotions raw amongst everybody, he decided it would be for the
- 1:33:13best to go and stay the night with some family friends instead
- 1:33:18before he was set to return to finish out his sentence.
- 1:33:22Bob and Jeannie Kiefer were long time friends of the family and
- 1:33:26were quite fond of Dawn, so they were more than happy to have him
- 1:33:30join them for the night. As the night progressed, the
- 1:33:34three of them were enjoying each other's company, but it seemed
- 1:33:38like all the feelings that have been stirred up from the
- 1:33:41memories of his grandfather's abuse at the funeral were coming
- 1:33:45back to haunt dawn. He fell on edge and uneasy when
- 1:33:50suddenly the air around him vibrated with a bone deep chill.
- 1:33:56Almost simultaneously after this occurred, water began to drip
- 1:34:00from the ceiling and down the living room walls.
- 1:34:04Don then fell into an eerie trance like state, staring at
- 1:34:09nothing and yet everything at the same time.
- 1:34:13The Kiefer's were perplexed at what was happening and tried
- 1:34:16examining all reasonable possibilities.
- 1:34:20Thinking they had a leak, they contacted their landlord, a man
- 1:34:24named Ron Van Wye. Upon arriving, Ron too quickly
- 1:34:29became perplexed. The leak, or so they thought,
- 1:34:33was obvious, but what was strange to him was that there
- 1:34:37was no piping that ran through the front part of the house.
- 1:34:41Certainly none that could spring a leak from the ceiling or the
- 1:34:45walls. None at all.
- 1:34:48On top of this strangeness, when observing the water's direction,
- 1:34:53Ron noticed that there was indeed no sense of direction.
- 1:34:57The water was not only coming from the top down from the
- 1:35:00ceiling, in the walls, but it was going from the floor and up
- 1:35:05the walls and direct contradiction to the laws of
- 1:35:09gravity and to anything that he had ever seen.
- 1:35:13Shocked and needing multiple witnesses to assure himself that
- 1:35:17he wasn't crazy, Ron phoned his wife, Romaine to come and take a
- 1:35:22look as well. Upon her arrival, she was just
- 1:35:26as perplexed and became scared of what was happening since it
- 1:35:30defied all logic and the leak, or so they thought, only became
- 1:35:36worse. So the landlords did the only
- 1:35:39thing that they could do, they called the police.
- 1:35:43Shortly after that call, a patrol car arrived with Officer
- 1:35:47John Bojan, who after briefly stepping inside the home, became
- 1:35:51drenched in water and also witnessed the bizarre other
- 1:35:56worldly activity to which he had no explanation for either.
- 1:36:01So to prove his sanity and to back up a report, he called upon
- 1:36:06his partner, an officer named Richard Volbert.
- 1:36:11When Richard arrived, he wanted to be briefed on exactly what
- 1:36:14was going on. The Bojan didn't want to give
- 1:36:17him any sort of a preconceived notion and just told him to
- 1:36:21trust him on this one. After some back and forth,
- 1:36:25Richard finally conceded and followed John into the key for
- 1:36:28residents he would later describe the incident as.
- 1:36:32So I walked in the door, I couldn't have gotten 2 steps in
- 1:36:37the door and I was pelted by water.
- 1:36:40As we were discussing a potential leak and as we were
- 1:36:43being told that there were no pipes in that part of the house.
- 1:36:47As we stood just inside the house, a droplet of water was
- 1:36:51traveling horizontally and passed right between US and out
- 1:36:56into the next room. As I retell this story, I have a
- 1:37:01chill up my spine and the hair on my neck is standing up.
- 1:37:06John would go on to say things were happening in this house
- 1:37:10that I couldn't have ever possibly dreamed of happening
- 1:37:13and there was no way to explain what was going on.
- 1:37:17Shocked by what they were witnessing, the two officers
- 1:37:20asked the family to step outside of the house and out of the
- 1:37:23water while they left to report the incident to the chief
- 1:37:27himself. The Wise decided to stay at the
- 1:37:30property while the Kiefer's and Don walked across the street to
- 1:37:34a local restaurant for something to eat.
- 1:37:37Within seconds of everyone departing, the water suddenly
- 1:37:41stopped within the house, and aside from the home being
- 1:37:44drenched, it was back to normal. No more dripping water and no
- 1:37:50more mist. This left Ron and his wife, only
- 1:37:53to speculate that whatever was happening was coming from one of
- 1:37:57the three, because when they left, so did it.
- 1:38:02Pam Scrofano, who owned the pizzeria opposite the Kiefer's
- 1:38:06house where the three ended up in, was a friend of the Kiefer's
- 1:38:10and knew Dawn as well. Upon greeting the three of them,
- 1:38:15she noticed that Dawn was distant, like he was looking at
- 1:38:19you, but looking through you, a deeply religious woman.
- 1:38:23She sent something evil about him, like the devil was working
- 1:38:28through Dawn Decker and recommended that they contact
- 1:38:32someone at the church for help. Within mere seconds of
- 1:38:36mentioning this, droplets of water hit the table in front of
- 1:38:40them, and soon the very same phenomena that was originally
- 1:38:45happening in the house was also now taking place inside the
- 1:38:50pizzeria. Sensing this evil Pam ran to the
- 1:38:54cash register where she had an old cross necklace.
- 1:38:58She took it out and placed it around Don's neck.
- 1:39:02As soon as it touched his skin, he got burned.
- 1:39:06He began to scream and pulled the necklace off of him.
- 1:39:10It was charred black. As the trio departed the
- 1:39:14pizzeria and headed back to their home, the strange activity
- 1:39:18inside once again ceased. It's important to note that
- 1:39:24nothing like this had ever happened at the Kiefer residence
- 1:39:27or Pam's Pizzeria. No plumbing issues, nothing that
- 1:39:31could be considered even remotely similar.
- 1:39:34Convening inside the home once again, they met Ron and his
- 1:39:38wife. Ron suspected that Don had
- 1:39:41something to do with what was happening, and after some
- 1:39:44discussion, an argument erupted among the group.
- 1:39:48This led to Jeannie screaming at Don, telling him that they knew
- 1:39:52it was him, that he had to make all of this stop.
- 1:39:56After the words left her mouth, the pots and pans above the
- 1:40:00stove began to shake, and the lights around them began to
- 1:40:06flicker. Don Decker.
- 1:40:09Was no longer in control of his body.
- 1:40:13Everyone watched in horror as Don levitated multiple feet into
- 1:40:17the air and rotated several times.
- 1:40:21He was then thrown out of the kitchen where they were and into
- 1:40:26an entirely different room. Don himself would later recount
- 1:40:30the event like this. It wasn't like someone grabbing
- 1:40:34your hand or picking you up. I felt this force over my entire
- 1:40:38body. I'm a big man and I've always
- 1:40:41been assertive, but this, whatever this was, made me feel
- 1:40:46like a newborn child. I'm scared right now just
- 1:40:50thinking about it. Dawn now laid unconscious on the
- 1:40:54floor and the rain began again. The wise and the kiefers were an
- 1:41:00absolute shock and disbelief at what had just taken place.
- 1:41:05They knew it was tied to dawn, but they had no idea just what
- 1:41:09it was, but they felt that it was evil.
- 1:41:13A few hours after the strange incident witnessed by the police
- 1:41:16officers, they arrived back at the residence alongside their
- 1:41:20very heated police chief. As he made his way into the home
- 1:41:24with the two officers behind him, he too was pelted with
- 1:41:27water just as they had been. Now first probably feeling like
- 1:41:32he was on the spot and perhaps slightly embarrassed, he claimed
- 1:41:37that this wasn't even a police issue, but a plumbing issue,
- 1:41:41despite then being told that there were no pipes in that part
- 1:41:44of the house, and this was even confirmed by blueprints of the
- 1:41:48home. After taking a look around at
- 1:41:50the rest of the home, which was bone dry, the chief then angrily
- 1:41:55ordered the two officers to escort him back home.
- 1:41:59He would be the only officer that night to not admit to
- 1:42:02anything strange happening. He then directed Officers John
- 1:42:06and Richard to not file a report and to not speak about the
- 1:42:10incident at all, but word would get out the following morning.
- 1:42:16Acting against the specific orders from their chief, the two
- 1:42:20officers returned to the residence along with three
- 1:42:23veteran officers as well. They too would see and
- 1:42:27experience the bizarre rain inside the home.
- 1:42:30So they decided to try something to attempt to get to the bottom
- 1:42:34of what exactly was going on. They asked if they could place a
- 1:42:38paper bag over Don's head, to which Don agreed.
- 1:42:42This was so he would have no way of seeing anything.
- 1:42:45He'd have no preconceived notions of what could be placed
- 1:42:49on him or in his hands. They then placed a gold cross
- 1:42:53necklace from one of the officers into his hand.
- 1:42:57Lieutenant William Davies, one of the officers present who
- 1:43:01placed the cross into his hand, described the incident like
- 1:43:05this. As soon as the necklace touched
- 1:43:08his palm, he said it burned him. He would have had no idea what
- 1:43:14it was. I saw what I believe to be smoke
- 1:43:17of some sort coming from the necklace or his hand.
- 1:43:21As he dropped the necklace. I picked it up and it was hot.
- 1:43:26Not burning hot, but hot enough to concern me.
- 1:43:30Then suddenly with the force, as if a bus hit him, he lifted up
- 1:43:36and was thrown across the room, hitting the back wall.
- 1:43:40Upon removing the bag from him, he was clearly dazed and had
- 1:43:44three bloody and fresh claw marks across his neck.
- 1:43:49I've been a cop for 40 years and I've never ran into anything
- 1:43:53like this ever. Never before and never again
- 1:43:58after. There's always an explanation,
- 1:44:02but in this case there was no explanation.
- 1:44:07The police would later leave again with no answers as to what
- 1:44:10was taking place, believing it to be a spiritual matter.
- 1:44:15Don was placed on the couch in the living room where the rain
- 1:44:18continued to go from mist to showers at random and varying
- 1:44:24times. After making multiple desperate
- 1:44:27calls to every Protestant and Catholic religious leader in
- 1:44:30Shroudsburg, only one didn't turn them down.
- 1:44:35Ron was able to convince an evangelical preacher, who went
- 1:44:38by the name of Reverend Johnson, to come over and pray with Don.
- 1:44:44As she arrived and began to pray, the rest of the group held
- 1:44:48hands and vigil and did what they could to support her.
- 1:44:52As the first words left her lips, dawn began to convulse and
- 1:44:57shake. The rain intensified and his
- 1:45:01body began to twist into unnatural positions.
- 1:45:05But as she continued, he slowly but surely began to relax in the
- 1:45:11rain seemed to stop. Although those present believed
- 1:45:16that a miracle had been performed, the results of that
- 1:45:20prayer session would only prove temporary, perhaps placing into
- 1:45:25hibernation whatever was inside Don Decker.
- 1:45:30Once his furlough was over, Don Decker returned back to jail to
- 1:45:33finish his sentence. And within just a few days, the
- 1:45:37mysterious rain returned. Upon his return to jail, Dom was
- 1:45:43placed in a cell with another inmate and had the thought enter
- 1:45:46his mind that if he could make it rain in the cell, perhaps he
- 1:45:51could get to be alone. Almost as soon as he thought
- 1:45:54that, the rain began. It was materializing out of the
- 1:45:59concrete floor and flowing upward.
- 1:46:03The other inmate was horrified and screamed for the guards to
- 1:46:07let him out. Thinking they had some kind of
- 1:46:10plumbing issue. The guards opened the cell and
- 1:46:13removed that inmate as well as Decker.
- 1:46:16At first he was accused of throwing water onto the walls
- 1:46:20from the sink or from the toilet by the guards, but upon these
- 1:46:24accusations Don rebuttal with I can control it.
- 1:46:29This time the feeling was different.
- 1:46:31This time he felt powerful and in control.
- 1:46:36Upon hearing this, the guard laughed and said if you can
- 1:46:39control this rain, make it rain in the warden's office.
- 1:46:44An offer that Don couldn't refuse.
- 1:46:47The warden would then describe what happened and these are the
- 1:46:50words of Lieutenant Warden David Keenhold.
- 1:46:54I was in my office filling out paperwork with no one else
- 1:46:57around. It was approximately 8:00 PM in
- 1:47:00the evening. I didn't notice it at that time,
- 1:47:03but my shirt was dripping down. I heard a knock at the door and
- 1:47:08little did I know that it was the same officer that was just
- 1:47:11with Don Decker. I wasn't aware of the situation
- 1:47:14at the time. He told me to look at my shirt
- 1:47:17and there was no explanation as to where the water could have
- 1:47:20come from. The officer then became very
- 1:47:23frightened of what had happened and after explaining the
- 1:47:26situation to me, I too became frightened.
- 1:47:30Shortly after the rain in the warden's office, a frantic call
- 1:47:34was placed to a local chaplain, a man named Reverend William
- 1:47:38Blackburn. He soon found himself shaking
- 1:47:41hands with the warden and several officers as he was
- 1:47:44escorted into the jail and into an empty cell.
- 1:47:47Within minutes he came face to face with Don Decker, who by
- 1:47:52this time was beginning to fear the feeling he had inside of
- 1:47:56him. That powerful and evil feeling.
- 1:48:00He was now asking for the Reverend's help and freeing him
- 1:48:04of whatever this thing was. Blackburn wasn't convinced at
- 1:48:08first. He told Decker that his life
- 1:48:10would be much easier if he just stopped all this nonsense and
- 1:48:14attention seeking. He would go on later to describe
- 1:48:17the situation like this. Almost immediately after I
- 1:48:21accused him, Don's demeanor changed.
- 1:48:25The glazed look came over him and a horrible smell entered the
- 1:48:28room. Doctors, nurses, and medical
- 1:48:32personnel will tell you that when you walk into a room when
- 1:48:35there's someone dying of disease or of cancer, there's a smell to
- 1:48:40it. I smelled that smell multiplied
- 1:48:43by at least five times. It was evil and foreboding.
- 1:48:49Don's glazed expression then switched to 1 of malice and
- 1:48:53calculation. He exclaimed.
- 1:48:56I have powers that you don't and I can make it rain.
- 1:49:00He then raised his hand and rubbed his fingers together and
- 1:49:04it started to rain inside that cell.
- 1:49:07It was like a devil's rain, a mist.
- 1:49:10I was in the presence of evil. I started opening my Bible to
- 1:49:15begin to pray and Don said I don't want you to pray for me,
- 1:49:19to which I decided to anyways. I started to read to him and the
- 1:49:24strange thing is that even though I was soaked, the pages
- 1:49:28of my Bible never got wet and that was truly frightening.
- 1:49:33Although the session was short, upon uttering the words that he
- 1:49:37was now bound in the name of Jesus Christ, the rain stopped
- 1:49:42and a peace overtook dawn. When he finally came to, he
- 1:49:46thanked the reverend with tears in his eyes, and the two hugged
- 1:49:51and prayed together again. In the words of Reverend
- 1:49:55Blackburn, there is no doubt in my mind that he was possessed.
- 1:49:59No human being could do what he did in that room.
- 1:50:02There is no way that he did anything to fool me whatsoever.
- 1:50:06Whatever happened was spiritual and it was not from God.
- 1:50:11I can guarantee you that it was not from God.
- 1:50:15From this moment forward, the rain has stopped for now.
- 1:50:19Don Decker would later say that he takes things day by day and
- 1:50:23that fortunately, the rain hasn't returned.
- 1:50:27As for his grandfather, he thinks whatever happened was
- 1:50:31related to him. He thinks that considering where
- 1:50:34he thinks he ended up, maybe he was able to make a deal with
- 1:50:38someone and have yet another chance to abuse him.
- 1:50:43What makes this case so unique and interesting is that all the
- 1:50:46people involved are credible people.
- 1:50:49I mean we have some family friends sure, but they stated
- 1:50:52they had nothing take place in that house prior to Don's
- 1:50:55arrival that morning. We have the landlord of the
- 1:50:59family's home and his wife not only reaffirming that there
- 1:51:02weren't any prior issues, but that there were no pipes in that
- 1:51:06area of the house. We then have 6 police officers
- 1:51:10including the chief over the case experienced the phenomena
- 1:51:14and he was the only one that said that nothing took place.
- 1:51:17We have a business owner where the phenomena took place at her
- 1:51:20establishment as well. Then several guards at the jail
- 1:51:24and which she goes back to finish serving his time witness
- 1:51:27things and the warden of the jail himself and the police
- 1:51:31officers. Three of them were seasoned
- 1:51:33lieutenants I might add and anyone with a proper reputation
- 1:51:37unless they really experienced something would risk that in my
- 1:51:42opinion. So was it demonic infestation?
- 1:51:45Possession, poltergeist activity, or something else
- 1:51:50entirely? When we have so many credible
- 1:51:53eyewitnesses recanting the same details, saying what they saw,
- 1:51:57experienced and felt was a phenomena not of this world, it
- 1:52:03truly makes you wonder. And if it wasn't spiritual,
- 1:52:07could Don's childhood trauma have allowed him to break into a
- 1:52:10part of the mind that could somehow 'cause these kinds of
- 1:52:14things allow him to manipulate the weather of his surroundings,
- 1:52:18move objects, and even cause harm to himself?
- 1:52:23We may never truly know the answers to this mystery in
- 1:52:26particular, and it very much still is a mystery to this day.
- 1:52:30As far as an update on Don Decker, besides multiple show
- 1:52:34appearances and interviews to discuss his story over the
- 1:52:37years, the last known activity that I could find of him was
- 1:52:42that back in 2012, he was charged with arson of a local
- 1:52:46restaurant in the Poconos Mountains of Pennsylvania.
- 1:52:49It seems like perhaps he was paid to set fire to the
- 1:52:52establishment by the owner, maybe for insurance fraud.
- 1:52:56As far as the outcome of the case, I couldn't find additional
- 1:52:59details. Perhaps whatever evil that was
- 1:53:02inside Dawn got the best of him at this time.
- 1:53:06Or, you know, we're all human, we do make mistakes without
- 1:53:10otherworldly influence as well. Just the thought.
- 1:53:14Wherever he is, I do have to say that his story is an amazing and
- 1:53:18intriguing 1 and I wish him nothing but the best.
- 1:53:22I'd also like to say thank you guys for watching this video.
- 1:53:26Without you guys, this channel was just me making videos that I
- 1:53:29find interesting at home at my computer, and I really can't
- 1:53:34hammer home how much your support means to me.
- 1:53:37It seems like YouTube doesn't always want to promote my
- 1:53:40content, and that's been a big uphill battle over the last four
- 1:53:43years. So when you choose to watch
- 1:53:46Mystery Archives, just know it helps me out much more than you
- 1:53:49could ever know. Rob and Vicki Graves had found
- 1:54:04what appeared to be their dream home.
- 1:54:06Looking to escape the big city life and take up a more rural
- 1:54:10one for themselves and their two teenage sons, they found Fox
- 1:54:15Hollow Farm and were shocked at how affordable it was for the
- 1:54:18sheer size and quality of the property.
- 1:54:21Sensing that it was too good to be true, they asked what could
- 1:54:24possibly be wrong with it because at a passing glance it
- 1:54:28seemed absolutely gorgeous. Then it came to Rob.
- 1:54:33He had remembered the name from a news broadcast many years ago.
- 1:54:38Unbeknownst to him and his wife, they were now standing on the
- 1:54:41very same grounds that were once owned by Herb Baumeister.
- 1:54:46Tory is serial killer. They immediately brought this up
- 1:54:49to the real estate agent who was showing them the property and
- 1:54:53were immediately told that that was indeed the case.
- 1:54:56That the private investor had indeed purchased the estate from
- 1:55:00the widow of Herb following the disturbing discovery of the
- 1:55:03bodies back in the 1990s, but that it had been completely
- 1:55:07remodeled from head to toe, removing any and all remnants of
- 1:55:11what it looked like when the murders had taken place all
- 1:55:15those years ago. But that's why it was indeed so
- 1:55:18affordable, because no one wanted to live there due to the
- 1:55:21history. After some further discussion
- 1:55:24among the couple, they ultimately decided to purchase
- 1:55:28the property. Within a couple weeks, the
- 1:55:31family moves in and falls in love with Fox Hollow Farm.
- 1:55:35The teenage sons soon make it a habit to play outside and then
- 1:55:39wash off in the pool in the basement, soon tracking dirt and
- 1:55:43gravel all throughout the home. One day, Vicki is vacuuming up
- 1:55:48the dirt that the boys had brought in from the outside
- 1:55:51around the pool when suddenly her vacuum loses power.
- 1:55:56Believing that perhaps she had accidentally unplugged it from
- 1:55:58the outlet, she plugged it back in and continued her work.
- 1:56:03Within several more minutes, it happened again.
- 1:56:07Perplexed this time because she was even more aware and careful
- 1:56:11about the cord in the outlet. She knew she hadn't unplugged
- 1:56:14it, so she plugged it back in and triple checked that it
- 1:56:18wasn't just falling out of the outlet by pulling the cord.
- 1:56:21Evermore aware this time she goes back to vacuuming but
- 1:56:25keeping a present eye on the cord itself and to her amazement
- 1:56:30it pulls out on its own as if someone had grabbed and pulled
- 1:56:34it out of the socket. Startled, she drops the vacuum
- 1:56:38and was beside herself. She doesn't know how to make
- 1:56:41sense of what had just happened and this would just be the
- 1:56:45beginning of the strangeness that would occur.
- 1:56:49Rob worked at a car dealership and one of his employees was a
- 1:56:52man named Joe Joe had been a great employee, but had a
- 1:56:56problem of being chronically late most of the time.
- 1:57:00As he probed to figure out what was going on, Joe informed Rob
- 1:57:04that he lived over an hour away and really needed the job and
- 1:57:08would be willing to move closer if the opportunity presented
- 1:57:11itself. Well, Rob thought about it and
- 1:57:14ended up offering Joe a place to rent.
- 1:57:17Located on Fox Hollow Farm, they had a guest house that they were
- 1:57:21considering renting out his apartments for quite some time,
- 1:57:24and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to benefit everyone
- 1:57:27involved. Joe would indeed move in just a
- 1:57:30few days later. It takes several hours, but
- 1:57:34within that time frame they're able to get everything inside
- 1:57:37and finish the move. Exhausted, Joe decides to retire
- 1:57:41for the night with his dog Fred. As he lays down to sleep in his
- 1:57:46newly set up bed, he then finds himself in a horrific nightmare.
- 1:57:51He's being chased throughout Fox Hollow Farm by something he
- 1:57:54can't see. The dream is so intense that it
- 1:57:58causes him to sleepwalk, which wasn't something that he was
- 1:58:01known to do. He began to run while still
- 1:58:04dreaming and ran directly into the door frame as he tried to
- 1:58:08escape the guest house. Falling back, he knocked into a
- 1:58:13nearby glass of water, which fell and shattered, cutting his
- 1:58:17hands. The impact and cutting of his
- 1:58:20hands finally woke him up and he was forced to sit back and
- 1:58:23ponder just what had taken place and things would only intensify
- 1:58:28from here another day. Soon after, Rob was painting the
- 1:58:32side of their helm a different color.
- 1:58:35As he and his wife remarked on how nice the finished job will
- 1:58:38be. She spots something out of the
- 1:58:40corner of her eye. She had seen a man in a red
- 1:58:43shirt staring at them. As she broke away from her
- 1:58:46husband and began to approach the figure, it started to walk
- 1:58:50away from her and quickly disappeared as if it never
- 1:58:54existed. The couple then called out and
- 1:58:57checked the perimeter but never found anyone.
- 1:59:01They dismissed the person as nothing more than a curious
- 1:59:03trespasser. I mean, after all, they did
- 1:59:06purchase a serial killer's home. They just had to accept that
- 1:59:10curious people may sneak up just to get a look at their home.
- 1:59:14Later that night, Joe was doing the dishes in his apartment when
- 1:59:18he suddenly gets a series of knocks on his front door,
- 1:59:22telling the person it'll just be a minute.
- 1:59:25As he dries his hands off to go and answer the door, the series
- 1:59:28of knocks begin to grow louder and more aggressive.
- 1:59:33Thinking it was extremely strange or extremely urgent
- 1:59:36concerning Vicki or Rob, he went and answered the doors.
- 1:59:40It was still being knocked upon. However, as he opened the door,
- 1:59:45there was no one to be found. Automatically on guard, he peers
- 1:59:50outside. The knocking had been happening
- 1:59:52when he answered the door, so no person could have got very far
- 1:59:57while he answered. Mid knock he glanced around and
- 2:00:01yet saw and heard nothing. He stepped outside and began to
- 2:00:05examine the roof in the nearby areas and still there was
- 2:00:10nothing. Thoroughly weirded out at this
- 2:00:12point, he made his way back inside and bolted, the door
- 2:00:16locked behind him. He started to make his way back
- 2:00:19to the kitchen to finish doing his dishes when he spotted a man
- 2:00:23standing in his bedroom staring at him.
- 2:00:27Upon spotting the figure, his dog begins to growl and make
- 2:00:31sounds that he's never heard him make before, staring directly in
- 2:00:36the direction of the bedroom. Already on edge, he ran into the
- 2:00:41bedroom and flipped the light on only to discover that there was
- 2:00:45again no one there. Searching the entire apartment,
- 2:00:50he again found nothing. Trying to rationalize and clear
- 2:00:54his mind, he decided to take his dog Fred for a walk to calm down
- 2:01:00and unwind for the evening. While on his walk around the
- 2:01:03property, he thought to check on Rob and Vicki's house to see if
- 2:01:07the lights were on. This would indicate to him that
- 2:01:10perhaps they were the ones who had knocked on his door and
- 2:01:13therefore he could rest easy and figure out what it was about.
- 2:01:17The following morning. However, upon arriving at their
- 2:01:20house, he found it completely blacked out.
- 2:01:24They had already gone to bed for the night.
- 2:01:26Fred, who was always a loyal and obedient dog, always walked with
- 2:01:30him without a leash and would always follow his commands.
- 2:01:35However, tonight would be a different story.
- 2:01:39Deciding to head back to his apartment, he motioned for Fred
- 2:01:42to join him, but the dog would not budget.
- 2:01:45He suddenly began to growl and then bolted into the nearby tree
- 2:01:49line. Instinctively, Joe ran after his
- 2:01:53dog, but not before seeing what his dog was running after.
- 2:01:57Before his eyes and the very same tree line was a man in a
- 2:02:01red shirt. Although he was absolutely
- 2:02:04terrified, Joe couldn't let anything happen to his beloved
- 2:02:08dog, so he continued to run towards this man, when suddenly
- 2:02:13whoever or whatever this was disappeared before his eyes,
- 2:02:19although slightly behind. He would quickly catch up to
- 2:02:23Fred and now noticed him not acting aggressive at all, but
- 2:02:27rather showing his belly in submission, staring in the
- 2:02:30direction of Joe. Joe, knowing his dog, knew that
- 2:02:35something very strange had to be up with him.
- 2:02:38He suddenly felt as if someone was staring directly at him.
- 2:02:42He slowly turned around to see the apparition of a man in a red
- 2:02:47shirt with a twisted face staring back at him just several
- 2:02:52feet away. Joe, as most of us would, ran
- 2:02:56out of there as fast as he could, his loyal companion
- 2:03:00following him. The two run as fast as they can
- 2:03:04back to the apartment, where they rush inside, lock and
- 2:03:07deadbolt the door, and nervously watch out of the blinds for the
- 2:03:11rest of the night. The following morning, and even
- 2:03:15more exhausted, Joe makes his way to Vicki and Rob's house to
- 2:03:18discuss the prior night's events.
- 2:03:21As he's telling both of them what happened, Vicki starts to
- 2:03:24become emotional. She too would seen the man in
- 2:03:27red just days earlier. She points to where she saw him
- 2:03:32and Loan, and behold, it's the exact same spot that Joe had
- 2:03:35encountered the entity the night before.
- 2:03:38As the day progressed tonight, Joe yet again found himself in
- 2:03:42his apartment, hoping to finally get some rest.
- 2:03:46But as he settled down in his bed, he was suddenly startled by
- 2:03:50knocking at his door. As he yelled out who is it?
- 2:03:54As he made his way towards the door, he didn't receive an
- 2:03:58audible answer back, just more aggressive knocking at the door.
- 2:04:03The door itself now is shaking. Facing his fear of the unknown,
- 2:04:08mid knock Joe throws the door open only to meet face to face
- 2:04:15with nothing. As he frantically looks around
- 2:04:18the yard while holding the door, he notices that the doors
- 2:04:21knocking apparatus is sticking straight out as if someone is
- 2:04:26holding it. It then drops one last time
- 2:04:30knocking the door. Absolutely petrified, Joe slams
- 2:04:34the door and locks it. As he tries to catch his breath
- 2:04:38and take several steps backwards, he sees the door knob
- 2:04:42begin to turn. Then, without warning, the door
- 2:04:46bursts open, shattering the lock.
- 2:04:50The open door, yet again, reveals no one.
- 2:04:53After a moment of frozen terror, Joe runs outside and into the
- 2:04:57front yard of his apartment, screaming and searching all
- 2:05:01around for just who could be doing this.
- 2:05:04After several minutes, he stares back into the house to the open
- 2:05:08front door and sees a man dressed in all white standing
- 2:05:11there. He soaked from head to toe in
- 2:05:14what appears to be water and is screaming in a muted voice as if
- 2:05:19he's being held underwater. He then bolts towards Joe and
- 2:05:24seemingly disappears into a mist, frantically calling out to
- 2:05:28his dog Fred to accompany him. Joe frantically makes his way to
- 2:05:32Rob and Vicki's house on the property.
- 2:05:34He's so terrified that he's shaking now, and Rob and Vicki
- 2:05:38are just as scared. They now truly believe that they
- 2:05:41are dealing with something paranormal in nature in order to
- 2:05:45rationalize the situation and make sense of what was taking
- 2:05:48place. They begin to believe that
- 2:05:51they're experiencing the results of the murders conducted by Herb
- 2:05:55Baumeister, and that his victims are either trapped here somehow,
- 2:06:01or their energy is stuck in an endless loop, replaying their
- 2:06:05final and tragic moments over and over and over again.
- 2:06:13Refusing to return to his apartment, Rob and Vicki, being
- 2:06:17the supportive friends they were, agreed that Joe could stay
- 2:06:20the night with them and together they would begin researching
- 2:06:23online to try and formulate some kind of a plan of action of what
- 2:06:27to do next. As they collectively scour the
- 2:06:31Baumeister case information, they find themselves looking at
- 2:06:35the list of identified victims. As they get deeper into the
- 2:06:38details, Joe is shocked. He stops them on a picture of a
- 2:06:43man in a white shirt. That was the man I saw in my
- 2:06:46apartment who was soaked from head to toe and screaming.
- 2:06:51Although this information still scares them, it does help
- 2:06:55reassure them that they are indeed dealing with the victims
- 2:06:58of this horrendous tragedy. They are especially convinced
- 2:07:02considering many of the remains have never been identified, so
- 2:07:06they continue to research the case.
- 2:07:09After several uneventful days, Joe finds himself almost
- 2:07:12compelled to walk around the property with his dog, except
- 2:07:16this time in broad daylight. So apprehensively, he makes his
- 2:07:22way with Fred to the area where both he and Vicki have seen the
- 2:07:25Man in Red on separate occasions.
- 2:07:28Just past the tree line on The Walking path, Joe is stopped by
- 2:07:32what looks to be a bone. He believes that it's impossible
- 2:07:36that such a bone could have been missed during the extensive
- 2:07:39searches over the years, but nonetheless, it was right here,
- 2:07:44right now, as if it had been placed there for him to
- 2:07:47discover. Quickly consulting and showing
- 2:07:50Rob and Vicki the discovery, they too believed that this
- 2:07:53could be a bone belonging to the mysterious Man in Red.
- 2:07:57They ended up contacting the lead detective on the Baumeister
- 2:08:00case and submitted the bone, which turned out to be a human
- 2:08:04femur bone, in his evidence and for analysis.
- 2:08:08They then requested if the investigator himself could come
- 2:08:11out to the property and explain to them just where things had
- 2:08:15taken place so they could have a better understanding of what
- 2:08:18happened, to which he obliged. Several days passed and Joe by
- 2:08:24this point had made his way back to his apartment to try and
- 2:08:27settle back in given the new information.
- 2:08:30While on his computer checking his emails, he began to hear a
- 2:08:34scraping, almost metallic like sound originating from the
- 2:08:38kitchen. Upon further examination he sees
- 2:08:42that all of his butcher knives from his knife block have been
- 2:08:45neatly arranged in his sink, placed in a row equally spaced
- 2:08:50from one another. Glancing around the room, he
- 2:08:53spots fresh deep cuts in the wood of the nearby counter
- 2:08:57cabinet. He believes that this could be a
- 2:09:00sign for one of the victims crying for help.
- 2:09:03He starts to try and figure out the mystery.
- 2:09:07He takes out his phone and begins recording, asking probing
- 2:09:11questions to whoever or whatever could be there and hopes of
- 2:09:15helping them in any way that he can.
- 2:09:18Prior to this, of course, he turned off any and all
- 2:09:21appliances that could interfere with the process.
- 2:09:24He begins by asking a series of questions and doesn't seem to
- 2:09:28get much of anything, at least not audibly.
- 2:09:31But then, towards the end of his questions, Fred begins to growl.
- 2:09:35The same eerie growl he had any time they'd experienced
- 2:09:39something previously. Taking this is confirmation that
- 2:09:42perhaps his companion could see or hear something that he
- 2:09:45couldn't, he quickly downloads the audio file and begins to
- 2:09:50listen to it on his computer. And to his shock, he did indeed
- 2:09:55receive a response. This is the clip of the actual
- 2:09:58EVP that was recorded who keeps walking in the kitchen.
- 2:10:06He believes he hears the married one.
- 2:10:09But in all of their research, all of the victims were young,
- 2:10:13single gay men. The only one who was married was
- 2:10:17one Herb Baumeister. This revelation is startling.
- 2:10:22He not only believes that the victims were trapped within the
- 2:10:25grounds of Fox Hollow Farm, but that perhaps the serial killer
- 2:10:29himself could too be trapped here.
- 2:10:33What would follow would be dozens of paranormal
- 2:10:35investigations. And those investigations would
- 2:10:39lead the group to believe that they were not only dealing with
- 2:10:41the spirits of the victims haunting the grounds, but either
- 2:10:45a dark entity impersonating Baumeister or the killer
- 2:10:49himself. Several years after the events,
- 2:10:52the Graves family would end up selling Foxhall Farm, and it
- 2:10:56would continue to change hands over the years since then,
- 2:11:00leading to multiple new owners of the property.
- 2:11:03And although new information doesn't seem to be publicly
- 2:11:06available, it's still considered one of the most haunted places
- 2:11:10in Indiana, if not the world, given its unique and gruesome
- 2:11:15history. An independent film will go on
- 2:11:18to be made about it called The Haunting of Fox Hollow Farm.
- 2:11:21And Robert Graves, along with another man named Richard Ustep
- 2:11:26who led many paranormal investigations at Fox Hollow
- 2:11:29Farm, would Co write a book detailing the family's creepy
- 2:11:32experiences and what they believed to be ultimately
- 2:11:36happening. So in conclusion, we know that
- 2:11:40Herb Baumeister was mentally ill ultimately, but what makes this
- 2:11:44case so strange and so compelling to me is that he was
- 2:11:47an outstanding member of his community for the longest time.
- 2:11:52He was the smiling neighbor, the charitable businessman, the
- 2:11:56happy family man, and overall a pillar of normalcy.
- 2:12:01But behind closed doors, his psyche, his soul, contained a
- 2:12:06darkness that most of us will never be able to comprehend, yet
- 2:12:11alone unravel and understand. So could the murderous deeds of
- 2:12:16a twisted individual trap souls on a property and perhaps open
- 2:12:20some kind of a portal? Could the unleashing of such
- 2:12:24energy, like what is expressed in a violent death, contribute
- 2:12:28to something like this? If it wasn't what's known as an
- 2:12:31intelligent haunting, where the spirits are aware of what has
- 2:12:34happened to them and are indeed trapped there, which very well
- 2:12:38could still be the case. And perhaps it could be a
- 2:12:41residual haunting where the events are of such magnitude and
- 2:12:46strength that they play on a loop for all time, but the souls
- 2:12:50who were involved have long since moved on.
- 2:12:54These are questions that we may never have answers to, but all
- 2:12:58things that we should ponder. The one thing is for certain,
- 2:13:02the malicious calculation of Herb Baumeister and the
- 2:13:05horrendous things that he did to the suspected 25 victims at Fox
- 2:13:10Hollow Farms should never be forgotten.
- 2:13:14They are indeed still identifying and using updated
- 2:13:17technology to identify remains that are still being found on
- 2:13:20the grounds. This has happened as recent as
- 2:13:23November of 2022, so if you happen to be a family member of
- 2:13:28someone that you suspect could be connected to this case, just
- 2:13:32know that my heart truly does go out to you and please contact
- 2:13:36the Hamilton County Coroner's Office at 317-770-4415.
- 2:13:45Besides remembering what happened, I also urge you to
- 2:13:48please respect the victims and their families, as well as the
- 2:13:51family of Herb Baumeister if you should ever have anything to do
- 2:13:55with them. Throughout history, it has been
- 2:13:59speculated that many have been plagued by an ancient demonic
- 2:14:04force. From Mesopotamia to more modern
- 2:14:09times, this evil and terrifying entity has said to enter our
- 2:14:14world and wreak havoc upon those who dwell within it.
- 2:14:21When a seemingly normal family disregards the warnings and
- 2:14:25partakes in multiple Ouija board sessions, what happened next
- 2:14:30nearly destroyed them. This is the untold story of the
- 2:14:35demonic Zozo House of Oklahoma, and the abhorrent creature
- 2:14:41stalks its walls. Oklahoma City, a small but
- 2:15:00growing city in the heartland of America known for blue collar
- 2:15:05work and brick and mortar shops, red dirt and sports would soon
- 2:15:12become known for something much darker.
- 2:15:17A teenager by the name of Darren Evans was growing up here, a
- 2:15:22normal boy by all accounts, doing things that any teenagers
- 2:15:27would enjoy, hanging out with friends, shenanigans here and
- 2:15:32there, and dating girls. He began dating a girl named
- 2:15:37Brandy who attended school with him, and the two often found
- 2:15:42themselves visiting each other as often as they could, whether
- 2:15:46that was walking to and from school and between classes or
- 2:15:52visiting each other's homes. One day, while Brandy's home was
- 2:15:57having some plumbing work done on some pipes located underneath
- 2:16:01the house, the plumber doing the work would soon make a strange
- 2:16:06discovery. Located below the foundation of
- 2:16:10the home, covered in dirt, was an old Ouija board.
- 2:16:15The front letters were partially buried and the back of the board
- 2:16:20was solid black in colour. Off to the side of where the
- 2:16:25board was found was an aged planchette.
- 2:16:30What made this finding even more bizarre was that 4 old jars sat
- 2:16:34on the corners of the board, speckled with dirt as well.
- 2:16:40Thinking perhaps the kids had stashed the board away and
- 2:16:44forgot about it, the worker told the young couple after his work
- 2:16:48was done about what he had found.
- 2:16:51And it's from here that things seemingly take a darker turn.
- 2:16:57Upon examining the discovery, they began to brush the dirt
- 2:17:01away from the jars. They were then shocked by what
- 2:17:04they found Inside each one of the jars.
- 2:17:08Sitting on the four corners of the board were the decaying
- 2:17:12bodies of blackbirds, congealed blood and matter still present.
- 2:17:21Bewildered but intrigued, they sat the jars off to the side and
- 2:17:26picked up the board. As soon as his fingers made
- 2:17:30contact with the board, Darren seemed to have an instant
- 2:17:34connection with it. And with this soon came a
- 2:17:38burning curiosity to examine it. And this curiosity would
- 2:17:43manifest into obsession with this.
- 2:17:49The couple took the board inside the home where they spoke with
- 2:17:52Brandy's mother. She actively practiced the
- 2:17:56Wiccan religion, but had no idea who could have put the board
- 2:18:00there Several days later. Curious as most teenagers are,
- 2:18:07Darren was an avid music fan. And one night, after building up
- 2:18:12the courage to do it, he decided he was going to contact the
- 2:18:16deceased singer of the the popular band ACDC, a man named
- 2:18:22Ronald Belford Scott, using the board.
- 2:18:26Scott had passed away from alcohol poisoning in 1980.
- 2:18:32After lighting several candles, laying the board with letters
- 2:18:35facing towards him, and placing the planchette upon the board,
- 2:18:40he began his session. At first, nothing seemed to
- 2:18:45happen. The Durham was still feeling
- 2:18:48this otherworldly connection to something within the board
- 2:18:51itself. After trying for half an hour,
- 2:18:56to his shock and amazement, the planchette began to move.
- 2:19:02Slowly at first. It then frantically began to
- 2:19:06move by itself, moving from Z to OZ to O over and over and over
- 2:19:16again, spelling out the name Sozo.
- 2:19:22Shocked and unsure of what or who he had contacted, Darren
- 2:19:27said goodbye in an attempt to end the session.
- 2:19:31Before his eyes he saw the plain chat spell out See you in Hell
- 2:19:38and then it threw itself across the room.
- 2:19:41A now terrified and bewildered Darren ran out of his room.
- 2:19:45He tried to make sense of what had just taken place, but this
- 2:19:50was just the beginning of what was to come.
- 2:19:54It started with horrible night terrors.
- 2:19:57He would wake up unable to move or speak and would hear
- 2:20:02whispering in his ears. These episodes at night were
- 2:20:06soon followed by banging and knocking throughout his house
- 2:20:09during the daytime, as well as a constant feeling.
- 2:20:14As if he was being watched by something, he couldn't see you.
- 2:20:19But despite the presence he was feeling, Darren now sought
- 2:20:23answers to his ever growing list of questions.
- 2:20:27Just what exactly he had uncovered.
- 2:20:30So he continued to hold sessions with the board.
- 2:20:34For better or for worse. Darren would later quote this.
- 2:20:41The sessions now were as intense and paranormal as anything I've
- 2:20:45ever witnessed. A deep and terrible moaning
- 2:20:49could be heard emanating through the walls.
- 2:20:51After these sessions I developed sleep paralysis and became
- 2:20:57reclusive to society in general. I was once again messing with
- 2:21:01Zozo and Ouija boards, despite the terrors of my earlier
- 2:21:06sessions in which I had promised myself I would never do it
- 2:21:10again. But again, and again I did.
- 2:21:16When not in use, the board was kept in a purple silk cloth and
- 2:21:21stored in his bedroom closet. It would also often go missing,
- 2:21:27sometimes for days on end. When checking back where he had
- 2:21:31placed it in order to set up and initiate a new session, the
- 2:21:36board would seemingly vanish, only to reappear at random times
- 2:21:42as if it was the one calling the shots of when it could be seen
- 2:21:47and used. The years came in when and the
- 2:21:52sessions on the mystical Ouija board continued.
- 2:21:57Darren by this time started inviting his friends to partake
- 2:22:01in the sessions, and although their sessions with him would
- 2:22:05prove he's not insane, it's of little consolation considering
- 2:22:09the tragedy it would seemingly manifest later on.
- 2:22:14Darren's best friend was a man by the name of Randy.
- 2:22:18The two had bonded over their love for the band ACDC in high
- 2:22:22school and had been inseparable ever since.
- 2:22:26Randy's idol also being the late Bond Scott, whose lifestyle
- 2:22:31seemingly imprinted upon the youthful teens Once Upon a time
- 2:22:36and perhaps would ultimately lead to the downfall of one of
- 2:22:40them. By now, Darren was living in his
- 2:22:44own apartment and working construction at a job site he
- 2:22:48was on. He would make a strange but
- 2:22:52familiar discovery. As he was digging down into the
- 2:22:56earth, he found what appeared to be a jar.
- 2:23:00Upon picking it up to discard it, he wiped away the dirt and
- 2:23:04debris, only to be shocked by its familiar contents.
- 2:23:10Loan. And behold, within the jar was a
- 2:23:13congealed and rotting Blackbird, extremely similar if not
- 2:23:19identical to the ones initially found alongside the Ouija board
- 2:23:24underneath his high school girlfriend's home all those
- 2:23:27years ago. It was particularly weird, not
- 2:23:32just because of this, but the fact that he had found it
- 2:23:36digging down deep into the earth.
- 2:23:39He wondered what were the odds of this, and although he had no
- 2:23:44way of knowing for sure, his gut began to tell him that there was
- 2:23:48some kind of witchcraft or a cult expertise at play here.
- 2:23:53Perhaps someone or a group of people were knowingly contacting
- 2:23:58this entity known as Zozo. But for what remained to be
- 2:24:03known, one evening in 1985, Darren and Randy were relaxing
- 2:24:10at Darren's apartment when they decided to host a session on the
- 2:24:13Ouija board. Randy, more than anything,
- 2:24:18wanted to try and make contact with his late idol Bon Scott,
- 2:24:23while wearing a Highway to Hell ACDC shirt.
- 2:24:27Randy's intent was clear. The two dimmed the lights, lit a
- 2:24:32couple of candles, and began the session upon the board.
- 2:24:38They made contact within a few minutes once the planchette was
- 2:24:42moving. Randy exclaimed.
- 2:24:46We want to talk to Bon Scott of ACDC.
- 2:24:51With this sentence, the planchette seemingly obliged.
- 2:24:56It moved in circles, eventually spelling out Aye MATE.
- 2:25:05The 2 looked at each other in amazement.
- 2:25:07The entity was using Australian dialects and for anyone who
- 2:25:12doesn't know, Bon Scott was Australian.
- 2:25:16After several more questions, both of the young men were
- 2:25:20convinced they were speaking with their idol.
- 2:25:23The spirit seemed to know every little detail to any question
- 2:25:26they asked and during the session the entity then made a
- 2:25:31strange request from the men. It asked them to light a
- 2:25:35cigarette and place it in the hole in the planchette.
- 2:25:39What proceeded to make both of them laugh also made them quite
- 2:25:43spooked as well. So they lit a couple cigarettes,
- 2:25:48one for each of them and one for this entity.
- 2:25:52They took a few drags to keep it lit and then placed it cherry
- 2:25:56side up in the planchette hole. The blanchette then spelled out
- 2:26:01thanks. They then watched an utter
- 2:26:04amazement as the cherry of the cigarette lit up as if Bon
- 2:26:09himself was taking puffs off of it.
- 2:26:13But this amusement was short lived.
- 2:26:17Once the cigarette had seemingly been smoked, the planchette
- 2:26:21began to spell something very different.
- 2:26:25It's spelled FU, Randy. I will have your soul and I'll
- 2:26:31see you in hell, Zio. Zio terrified the men quickly
- 2:26:39into the session by saying goodbye and tossing the board
- 2:26:43outside the second story apartment balcony door.
- 2:26:47Clearly scared and upset, Randy also didn't take kindly to
- 2:26:51threats. He began cussing out Zozo with
- 2:26:55complete and utter rage. The board would later be
- 2:26:59returned by his downstairs neighbor, and after this
- 2:27:03session, a series of lows for both of the men seemed to
- 2:27:07manifest in the years to come. Influenced by the lifestyle of
- 2:27:12his idol, Randy fell victim to alcoholism.
- 2:27:17He soon would lose his wife to divorce and have split custody
- 2:27:21with his son. And although many opportunities
- 2:27:25presented themselves for Randy to better his life, for one
- 2:27:29reason or another, he was always just too far away to be able to
- 2:27:33grasp them, He often said to Darren, I feel like I'm in a
- 2:27:38prison and I can't escape for old time's sake.
- 2:27:44The two did one last Ouija board session together in 2005, in
- 2:27:49which Randy asked the board how he would die.
- 2:27:54The board responded in a car at night alone.
- 2:28:00In 2007, after spending the evening with Darren.
- 2:28:04The last words he would say to him were Darren, I will see you
- 2:28:09in hell. The next morning, Darren
- 2:28:12received a phone call from Randy's girlfriend Alicia,
- 2:28:16saying that Randy never made it home after he left.
- 2:28:20Instead, he had passed away in a violent head on collision,
- 2:28:25ultimately passing away in a car at night and alone.
- 2:28:32This devastating passing, along with the frequent contact with
- 2:28:36the entity known as Zozo over the years, led to a fascination
- 2:28:41and borderline obsession with the search for answers for
- 2:28:44Darren Evans. During the time before and after
- 2:28:49Randy's death, he had been living in a home in Oklahoma
- 2:28:52City, OK that would become synonymous with the demon's
- 2:28:57name. It was here that the worst
- 2:29:00afflictions brought on by the entity would take place to him
- 2:29:05and his family. Darren's fascination with the
- 2:29:08occult led him to hanging on to and possessing multiple Ouija
- 2:29:13boards and other various occult objects.
- 2:29:18It was here that he began to study on a much more in depth
- 2:29:21and organized basis, just trying to figure out who or what Zozo
- 2:29:27was. But this research would soon be
- 2:29:31interrupted and this home lived himself, his wife Kathleen, and
- 2:29:38their young daughter at the time.
- 2:29:41During a session with his wife Kathleen one evening while their
- 2:29:44daughter slept rooms away, Zozo would once again make itself
- 2:29:50present in their lives, but this time seemed to take possession
- 2:29:55of Darren. Kathleen trembled with fear and
- 2:29:59bated breath as something stared at her through Darren's eyes,
- 2:30:05something that clearly wasn't human.
- 2:30:08He then turned violent, attempting to attack her.
- 2:30:13Fortunately for Kathleen, she was able to say goodbye and get
- 2:30:18away before any harm could be done to her.
- 2:30:21Several minutes later, Darren would come back to himself with
- 2:30:26no memory of what had taken place.
- 2:30:30After this session, things seemed to escalate in intensity.
- 2:30:37Sounds began to rap throughout the entire home, from knocking
- 2:30:42to hissing, footsteps and banging, all seemingly with no
- 2:30:49explainable origin. The family got so terrified that
- 2:30:55they sectioned off a particular bedroom upstairs, calling it
- 2:30:59their safe room. One night, however, not everyone
- 2:31:04was within the safe room. Suddenly, an overwhelming sense
- 2:31:10of terror creeped upon Darren as he was trying to sleep.
- 2:31:15He rushed to the safe room to attempt to stop what he was
- 2:31:18feeling. Quickly realizing he couldn't
- 2:31:21leave his family behind, he rushed back out of the room in
- 2:31:25an attempt to gather them and bring them to safety as well.
- 2:31:31As he was heading towards the stairs, his daughter had heard
- 2:31:35his cries and was now at the foot of the stairs.
- 2:31:40It was here that Darren saw her being lifted by invisible hands
- 2:31:44into the air and carried away from him, screaming for his
- 2:31:52child as she screamed for her father.
- 2:31:54Darren ran down the stairs as fast as he possibly could but
- 2:31:59couldn't see her anywhere. Insight.
- 2:32:02He then heard her muffled screams coming from the
- 2:32:05basement. At first the door was locked and
- 2:32:10wouldn't open, but after adrenaline and brute force,
- 2:32:15Darren thankfully was able to open it.
- 2:32:18He then retrieved his hysterical child and brought her to the
- 2:32:22safety of the safe room. Once inside the room, the family
- 2:32:27huddled together in fear as they continued to hear movement and
- 2:32:31noises all throughout the house. After this abhorrent nightmare
- 2:32:36of a situation, the family knew they had to get out of the
- 2:32:40house. This situation and the many
- 2:32:43other paranormal experiences had led to a lifelong fascination
- 2:32:48for Darren Evans with the occult and finding out just exactly
- 2:32:53what Sozo is. But was it worth jeopardizing
- 2:32:57his family's safety? It took some time but the family
- 2:33:02would soon relocate to another home and once his family was
- 2:33:07safe, Darren was able to continue his deep dive into the
- 2:33:11unknown to try and track down and decipher just what this
- 2:33:16entity could be and where it came from.
- 2:33:20And although he knew the topic was vast, I think it went far
- 2:33:25deeper than he ever anticipated. Whilst trying to dig up more
- 2:33:29information, he posted his experiences to an old paranormal
- 2:33:34form in 2009 and since then many, many people have shared
- 2:33:42their experiences with the demonic force, many of which
- 2:33:47have been documented and compared by Darren himself on
- 2:33:51his website. But these experiences are not
- 2:33:55just a 21st or even 20th century phenomena, they date back far
- 2:34:01older than that. Not every fine detail will be
- 2:34:04mentioned here, but I will do my best to list the most important
- 2:34:08details that I could find in regards to the origin of Zozo.
- 2:34:14According to Darren and other online sources, Zozo in the old
- 2:34:20Basque language means Blackbird or crow.
- 2:34:24The Zo people of Haiti practiced a form of voodoo whose rituals
- 2:34:29involve horrific scarification as well as the intake and
- 2:34:34passing around of bodily fluids and bizarre rituals.
- 2:34:39Their witch doctors are called Zozo and wear demonic looking
- 2:34:44masks as part of their death ritual.
- 2:34:48When someone is passing away, they lift up the mask at the
- 2:34:51moment of death to take in the person's final breath.
- 2:34:57This is apparently done to absorb the soul of the person to
- 2:35:01gain more spiritual power. Zozo also in the Malay language
- 2:35:06is the same as it is in English, but it translates to wandering
- 2:35:11spirit, which is a spirit they believe to steal people's souls
- 2:35:16while they sleep, which is also bizarre because sleep is often
- 2:35:20considered the cousin of death. Zozo has been called the
- 2:35:25minister of deception. It is known to convince you that
- 2:35:29it is a deceased loved one or friend or even someone you've
- 2:35:33idolized, when in reality, it's not.
- 2:35:39Sessions typically start out friendly and inviting, but soon
- 2:35:44turned malevolent and dangerous. During his research over the
- 2:35:49years, Darren made contact with and spoke to famous demonologist
- 2:35:55John Zappos who shared with him that in his experience with over
- 2:36:0040 years of studying the demonic and paranormal, the name Zozo
- 2:36:05and other pseudonyms of its name kept coming up in his
- 2:36:08investigations, which too led him to seek answers as to what
- 2:36:13it could be. And some of those
- 2:36:16investigations, when questioned, the demon stated that it was the
- 2:36:21son of Satan himself. But Zapfis thinks perhaps is
- 2:36:26with many deities that seem to be lurking in the shadows.
- 2:36:30Zozo could be an entity that's existed far before the founding
- 2:36:35of Christianity. Besides evidence showing up in
- 2:36:38Africa and Egypt, there's also evidence found linking Zozo to
- 2:36:44ancient Mesopotamia as well. Other names Zozo has gone by
- 2:36:49throughout the ages have been Zuzu, Zaza, and Mamo, among many
- 2:36:56others. The name Zuzu could refer to
- 2:37:00Pazuzu, the famed demon from the film The Exorcist, which in
- 2:37:05reality was a demonic entity from ancient Mesopotamian
- 2:37:09religion. It's incredibly strange to note
- 2:37:12the following as well. Zozo was replaced in the story
- 2:37:16of the exorcism of Rolling Dough, and Peter Blatty was
- 2:37:20using it as inspiration to write The Exorcist.
- 2:37:25He changed Zozo to Pazuzu. Zozo is believed to be the demon
- 2:37:31that possessed Roland. It was described as a terrifying
- 2:37:35form that first appeared in the Neo Assyrian period, roughly
- 2:37:40around 934 to 610 BC. It had a monstrous head
- 2:37:46resembling A fierce lion or a dog with horns, and had an
- 2:37:52emaciated human body with clawed hands, a scorpion's tail, and
- 2:37:58two sets of wings. One translation reads.
- 2:38:04I am Pazuzu, the son of Hambu, king of the Lilu demons.
- 2:38:11I have scaled the powerful mountains.
- 2:38:14They trembled. The contrary winds were headed
- 2:38:17West 1 by 1. I broke their wings.
- 2:38:23Pazuzu and other demons like it were held responsible for
- 2:38:27ailments like disease, fetal death, nightmares, and much
- 2:38:33more. Could it be that this ancient
- 2:38:36demonic force is what could be plaguing people all the way into
- 2:38:39modern times? The demon Zozo is also mentioned
- 2:38:45in the French Demonic Encyclopedia is one of the
- 2:38:48demons responsible for diabolical possession and
- 2:38:52corruption. The possession of a young girl
- 2:38:56in 1816 is noted as a documented case where Zozo, among several
- 2:39:03other demons were present. Other noteworthy possession
- 2:39:07cases over the ages ranging closer to modern times that
- 2:39:11bears Zozo's name other than the exorcism of rolling dough in the
- 2:39:151950s, are the possession of Doris Blither in 1972 in Los
- 2:39:22Angeles, the Enfield Poltergeist incident in 1977 in the UK, and
- 2:39:30as recent as 2012 where a possession incident led to an
- 2:39:36attempted murder. Other theories with how this
- 2:39:40entity could communicate with so many people so quickly and
- 2:39:44across the globe over the years, besides supernatural ability of
- 2:39:48its own, would be that its own reach is perhaps being
- 2:39:52strengthened by an agrigor or collective group of thought form
- 2:39:58created by occultists for a certain purpose.
- 2:40:04However, this seems unlikely considering the entity doesn't
- 2:40:08seem to serve any human interest other than to destroy the person
- 2:40:13or people's lives it makes contact with.
- 2:40:17Agrigors are typically formed to bring control over a summon
- 2:40:20deity for the person or groups bidding.
- 2:40:25But perhaps instead there is a cold worshipping Zozo?
- 2:40:29I mean that would make more sense to me.
- 2:40:32People who have made contact with the entity via spirit or
- 2:40:36Ouija board have also been asked to chant or spell out phrases in
- 2:40:40Hebrew or Latin, which has convinced many of the
- 2:40:44intelligence of the being that they're speaking with.
- 2:40:49What is also interesting is that the letter Z was actually
- 2:40:52removed from the original Latin alphabet because it was
- 2:40:56considered too evil when pronouncing it.
- 2:40:59It was said that one's face would make a death grimace like
- 2:41:03that of a corpse, and that it mimicked the letter S like an
- 2:41:08evil twin. Perhaps the entity uses this
- 2:41:12name as some sort of mocking, whether to God or something
- 2:41:17else. One may also ask, despite the
- 2:41:22origin, theories and historical details that could be linked to
- 2:41:25this ancient demonic force, how would one know if they
- 2:41:29encountered such a thing? These are what's known as Zozo's
- 2:41:33calling cards when it's being summoned using a Ouija board.
- 2:41:38The obvious is there that the planchette will begin to move on
- 2:41:42its own, but some less obvious signs are there as well, and are
- 2:41:48as follows. The planchette will move in a
- 2:41:51rainbow pattern from side to side, spelling ZOZO over and
- 2:41:58over again, also known as the rainbow effect.
- 2:42:04It can also move in repeating Figure 8 movements like an
- 2:42:08Infinity sign. The planchat will spell out
- 2:42:11various versions of the demon's name, like Zozo, Zozo, Zaza,
- 2:42:19Zuzu, or Mama. You may also begin to see
- 2:42:23shadows moving around the area where you were hosting the
- 2:42:27session, like you're seeing through the thinnest sheet and
- 2:42:31to a Dark World that exists just behind your vision.
- 2:42:37And you and whoever you may be with, They start to feel scared,
- 2:42:41uneasy, or upset, seemingly for no other reason before or after
- 2:42:49this takes place. When you tell this entity
- 2:42:53goodbye, typically the best way to close a session, they may not
- 2:42:58truly be goodbye because often times depending on how long the
- 2:43:03session has been for, like an ever widening door, the entity
- 2:43:08may have had just enough time to sneak in to begin to wreak havoc
- 2:43:13upon your life. And thus begins what many
- 2:43:17demonologists and religious leaders alike call demonic
- 2:43:20obsession, which is where the entity becomes aware of you and
- 2:43:25begins to crave you, which then leads to oppression or begins to
- 2:43:31inflict various forms of torture upon you in an effort to break
- 2:43:36you down, whether that's physically, psychologically, or
- 2:43:41spiritually. It will also work to isolate you
- 2:43:45from others, especially those who care about you.
- 2:43:49And finally, if you're incredibly unlucky, possession
- 2:43:55or the entity finally takes control of you as its vessel.
- 2:44:01All of which to me are absolutely terrifying in every
- 2:44:04imaginable way. Darren Evans to this day
- 2:44:08continues to research the Zozo Phenomena, having been involved
- 2:44:13in the number of paranormal investigations, shows, and
- 2:44:17various other public and private events, as well as radio shows
- 2:44:22and podcasts, many of which he goes into various degrees of
- 2:44:26details regarding his encounters, other people's
- 2:44:30encounters, and other various historical details.
- 2:44:35He also in 2016 compiled his year's worth of research and
- 2:44:38experiences into a book also titled The Zozo Phenomena, which
- 2:44:44you can read and learn more about the entity and the topic
- 2:44:47as a whole. If you're interested, I'll link
- 2:44:50it below. I also pulled a lot of this
- 2:44:53information from various interviews which I'll also be
- 2:44:57linking below, as well as an older website he runs that
- 2:45:01doesn't seem to have been updated in a while but supplied
- 2:45:04me with much information to get the story as cohesive as I
- 2:45:08possibly could. I also sourced the photos of the
- 2:45:12apparitions from the site, some of which were taken by Evans
- 2:45:16himself over the years. So does this demon or ancient
- 2:45:21force truly exist? Is it some kind of elder God, a
- 2:45:27pre Christian deity or being or manifestation of occult or
- 2:45:33Luciferian practices? Did Darren Evans just make it up
- 2:45:38and did thousands of people find it interesting enough to make up
- 2:45:42their own stories and partake in a mass charade that has lasted
- 2:45:46years? All of these answers may never
- 2:45:49truly be known, but my opinion is this I think not only given
- 2:45:55the wide array of strange coincidences and details
- 2:45:59throughout history. From the origins, to the stories
- 2:46:02of this creature existing in distant past to the present, to
- 2:46:07literally thousands of people. From casual interest in the
- 2:46:11occult to more hardcore fanatics, religious scholars,
- 2:46:17demonologists, and more claiming to have had experiences with
- 2:46:22this thing. With all of these details in
- 2:46:24mind, I certainly think it very well could be real.
- 2:46:29I do think there are things that exist in the shadows, things we
- 2:46:33can't see or touch that are there watching and waiting to
- 2:46:39strike when and if the opportunity presents itself.
- 2:46:44So my advice to all of you to avoid any possibility of opening
- 2:46:49a door that you can't close and inviting evil into your life is
- 2:46:54this. Don't mess with Ouija boards.
- 2:46:58These things are not toys. Whether you believe it or not,
- 2:47:02these entities do exist and they believe in you.
- 2:47:07So keep away from them because you might just let something in
- 2:47:11that won't want to leave. Even if you say goodbye.
- 2:47:22Lying dormant within the streets of suburbia, there is an unseen
- 2:47:27evil. Like a mouse falling into a pit
- 2:47:30of snakes, an unsuspecting family disturbed a slumbering
- 2:47:35force and became enshrouded in a fog of darkness.
- 2:47:41This is the untold story of the Bel Air House and the
- 2:47:46terrifying, malevolent entities that dwell within its walls.
- 2:47:53Bellaire, OH, an area rich in history, was once known as Glass
- 2:47:58City. Having once been a major glass
- 2:48:01production hub in the late 1800s, is now known as the All
- 2:48:06American town, having been used in many Hollywood productions as
- 2:48:12a backdrop for lots of movies, some of which you've probably
- 2:48:16seen over the years. The town that epitomizes small
- 2:48:20America's daily life has long since moved past its industrial
- 2:48:25days and has become known for something else.
- 2:48:29On the outskirts of the town lies an old two-story Victorian
- 2:48:33home that has become famous over the recent years, both among
- 2:48:38locals as well as across the country, with some saying it
- 2:48:43could be the most haunted place in the United States, if not the
- 2:48:47world. This is a bold statement to say
- 2:48:50the least, but the countless visitors to the house have
- 2:48:53reported strange, disturbing, and unexplainable encounters
- 2:48:59within its antique walls. But just how did the story
- 2:49:02begin? Where did the legend of the Bel
- 2:49:05Air house originate from? Let us first take a look at the
- 2:49:09home's dark history. Built in 1887 by a coal tycoon
- 2:49:16named Jacob Hetherington, the house sits adjacent from ancient
- 2:49:20Native American burial caves. It is also located where the
- 2:49:25scene of a massacre took place during the French and Indian
- 2:49:29War. It would sit on top of an active
- 2:49:33coal mine for years before there was a major explosion that took
- 2:49:38place within the mine, killing multiple men working deep within
- 2:49:42the earth directly underneath the house.
- 2:49:46Could the culmination of these tragic deaths have opened up a
- 2:49:50portal within the Bel Air House? A portal that allowed something
- 2:49:54to come through that wasn't supposed to be here?
- 2:49:58Shortly after this explosion is when the strange activity began.
- 2:50:03Jacob's son Alex moved into the home with his daughter, lied,
- 2:50:08but was soon stricken with seizures and hallucinations.
- 2:50:13He would ultimately be committed to an insane asylum for the rest
- 2:50:17of his life, claiming that demons were trying to kill him.
- 2:50:23As time progressed, Lyde would take charge of the family
- 2:50:26business, being helped by her younger brother Edwin.
- 2:50:31Lyde would tragically and unexpectedly pass away 1 morning
- 2:50:36in the kitchen of the home. Edwin, now alone and grief
- 2:50:40stricken, descended into mysticism and the occult in
- 2:50:45search of answers. He began to regularly host
- 2:50:49seances in the kitchen where his sister had passed away to
- 2:50:54attempt to make contact with her on the other side, and it is
- 2:50:58believed that contact was indeed made, but with who or what is
- 2:51:04uncertain. In 2005, Kristen Lee and her
- 2:51:09family are desperate for a new home.
- 2:51:12Like a curse, for the second time in less than two years, a
- 2:51:17flash flood has destroyed their home and all of their
- 2:51:20possessions. Kristen, her two sons, Nicholas
- 2:51:25and Lane, along with their father Hefe, have been fortunate
- 2:51:29enough to room with friends during this difficult time.
- 2:51:33Kristen has continued to try and get the family back on their
- 2:51:36feet and no longer wants to burden her friends with the
- 2:51:39boarding of her family. So she constantly checks the
- 2:51:43real estate listings hoping to find a home that her and her
- 2:51:47family can finally settle down into.
- 2:51:50Given the circumstances, the family didn't have a big budget
- 2:51:54and would have to rebuild their lives from scratch.
- 2:51:59But soon her determination seems to pay off.
- 2:52:03While at work, Kristen often browses real estate websites for
- 2:52:07new listings as well as foreclosures and a new listing
- 2:52:11soon catches her eye. Recently foreclosed on but now
- 2:52:16available for purchase, she lays eyes on the old Victorian home
- 2:52:20for the first time. It's 4 bedrooms and two bathroom
- 2:52:24setup along with plenty of room would be perfect for her family.
- 2:52:30The price seems almost too good to be true for her budget as
- 2:52:33well, and although the listing lacks more details, it's like
- 2:52:38her prayers had finally been answered.
- 2:52:41But by what? Not wanting to lose the
- 2:52:45property, Kristen arranges a showing of the home as soon as
- 2:52:48possible and before too long finds herself on the front steps
- 2:52:54of the Bel Air house. She is immediately taken in by
- 2:52:58the beautiful craftsmanship of the woodwork.
- 2:53:01The wrap around porch facing the Ohio River soon has her
- 2:53:05imagining peaceful evenings watching the water flow.
- 2:53:10Upon entering the home, she continues to be impressed.
- 2:53:14Old marble and cherry wood ordain the interior of the home
- 2:53:18and it seems almost too perfect, like something straight out of
- 2:53:22her dreams. The family also has a dog named
- 2:53:26Bella, and the large fenced in backyard is perfect for her to
- 2:53:31run in and the boys to play in. Dumbfounded by her luck, Kristen
- 2:53:36puts in an offer on the House that evening and it's accepted
- 2:53:40the following morning. After two years of chaos and
- 2:53:44uncertainty, the Lee family can finally breathe again and start
- 2:53:49living a normal life. But just as all seems quiet and
- 2:53:53settled, the family begins to discover that the house is
- 2:53:57anything but normal at first. Upon hearing odd noises in the
- 2:54:03night, the family wrote off the sounds as nothing more than
- 2:54:06anxiety and an old house. Being slightly scared or anxious
- 2:54:11upon moving into a new place, particularly following a very
- 2:54:15uncertain time in one's life, is not out of the ordinary.
- 2:54:19But these sounds soon become too much to dismiss.
- 2:54:22They soon begin to hear footsteps at all hours of the
- 2:54:25day and night. Kristen would later describe the
- 2:54:28activity as so. I would hear footsteps above and
- 2:54:32sometimes below me, even when there was no one else home but
- 2:54:36me. And I always felt as if there
- 2:54:38were thousands of eyes staring at me at all times, watching my
- 2:54:44every move. Along with the strange noises,
- 2:54:47items soon begin to go missing. From keys to towels to trinkets.
- 2:54:531 moment they would be there and within seconds they would
- 2:54:57vanish. And Kristen isn't the only one
- 2:55:00experiencing strange happenings within the Bel Air house at the
- 2:55:05time. Her 12 year old son Nicholas
- 2:55:07begins to experience a malevolent force that seems to
- 2:55:11dwell within his bedroom. At first, he too begins to feel
- 2:55:15as if he's being watched at all times, and it seems to get
- 2:55:19exponentially worse at night. He begins to have night terrors,
- 2:55:24feeling someone or something covering his mouth and nose,
- 2:55:29forcing him to suffocate. One night, he wakes up in a cold
- 2:55:33sweat. It's storming outside.
- 2:55:37Flashes of lightning occasionally light up the room.
- 2:55:40What he sees disturbs him to his core.
- 2:55:45In the corner of his room towards his closet.
- 2:55:49As a burst of light fills the room, he sees a blackened figure
- 2:55:53staring at him and shaking profusely.
- 2:55:59The young boy is utterly terrified, rushing out of his
- 2:56:02room as fast as he possibly can. He wakes up his mother and
- 2:56:07refuses to sleep there any longer.
- 2:56:10The boy is so hysterical, the only solution was to send him to
- 2:56:14his grandmother's house, located 30 minutes away.
- 2:56:19What makes this case all the more compelling is that Kristen
- 2:56:22has a master's degree in psychology and works as a mental
- 2:56:26health physician. With this, her professional
- 2:56:30opinion of what Nicholas had experienced was initially
- 2:56:34contributed to stress and fatigue, both common factors
- 2:56:37that tend to make the human mind see and experience things that
- 2:56:41aren't really there. And these probably could explain
- 2:56:45many similar situations, and most would agree.
- 2:56:49However, Kristen's view would soon undergo A radical change
- 2:56:54after one terrifying experience of her own.
- 2:56:58After months of strange happenings within the home, it
- 2:57:02was now winter and the Lee family, still tied on finances,
- 2:57:07was sleeping in the basement near the fireplace to save money
- 2:57:11on the gas bill. Hefe was asleep in a recliner
- 2:57:15and Lane as well as Kristen were asleep on the wrap around couch
- 2:57:20located in the corner of the room.
- 2:57:22All seemed normal until Kristen was woken up by the feeling of
- 2:57:27the couch cushion being pressed down near her legs.
- 2:57:31She then found herself face to face with a terrifying figure of
- 2:57:36a man staring directly at her. She would later describe the
- 2:57:40encounter as So I woke up being face to face with this Gray
- 2:57:45figure of a man. He was translucent, almost like
- 2:57:49a mist, but the mist had features like a person.
- 2:57:55The face was completely emotionless and had dark sunken
- 2:57:59in eyes. Kristen asked who are you?
- 2:58:04What are you doing here? What do you want?
- 2:58:07But to no response, just a blank, lifeless stare.
- 2:58:13Within seconds the apparition disappears, but before she can
- 2:58:18ponder what had just taken place, the silence is once again
- 2:58:22shattered. But by this time it was the
- 2:58:25family dog, Bella, who was barking and running around the
- 2:58:30room. Kristen, attempting to keep her
- 2:58:33family asleep through the ordeal, tries to quiet the dog
- 2:58:36down and notices that she can see her breath in the air, and
- 2:58:41although it's cold outside, it's not nearly that cold near the
- 2:58:45fireplace. She then sees the figure
- 2:58:48materialize once more and silently moved from one side of
- 2:58:52the room and through the wall on the other side, vanishing
- 2:58:57completely. No longer wanting to face
- 2:59:00whatever this was alone, she woke up her husband and told him
- 2:59:04what had just taken place. His response, however, was that
- 2:59:09she was too tired and needed to go back to sleep.
- 2:59:14Could what Kristen had experienced been a stress or
- 2:59:17fatigue induced hallucination? Perhaps, but someone with a
- 2:59:21professional background such as herself surely would know how to
- 2:59:25differentiate, wouldn't you think?
- 2:59:29Finally, knowing she's not crazy and totally convinced that the
- 2:59:33home was haunted, Kristen begins to try and make plans to get her
- 2:59:37family out of the Bel Air house and to safety elsewhere.
- 2:59:43As soon as she can, she puts the home up for sale and moves the
- 2:59:47family to a nearby rental home. Although she's relieved to no
- 2:59:51longer physically be in the house, no one is buying it to
- 2:59:56try and cover expenses. She has no other choice other
- 3:00:00than to make the house a rental property.
- 3:00:03But almost as soon as the first family moves in, they move out.
- 3:00:08And this kick starts a revolving door of tenants seemingly stuck
- 3:00:12with the house. Kristen comes to the conclusion
- 3:00:15that no family will or should live there.
- 3:00:19So what should be done with a haunted property?
- 3:00:22Needing to make ends meet, she comes up with a unique idea.
- 3:00:26She turns the home into an afterlife research property.
- 3:00:30This would allow various groups to come in conduct their own
- 3:00:34research on just what exactly was taking place within the Bel
- 3:00:38Air House. And the idea works.
- 3:00:42Soon groups from all over the United States and Canada are
- 3:00:46travelling to temporarily live within the home to conduct
- 3:00:50research. And from here we gain some more
- 3:00:54interesting stories, to say the least.
- 3:00:58One group, who calls themselves the Armchair Researchers from
- 3:01:02upstate New York, consists of two women, one being a birthing
- 3:01:07nurse and the other a nurse who works with dying patients.
- 3:01:12They found paranormal and afterlife research to be a
- 3:01:15natural extension of their day jobs for the last 15 years.
- 3:01:21After hearing about the Bel Air house, they soon find themselves
- 3:01:24driving to Ohio to investigate the phenomena for themselves.
- 3:01:30First impressions tend to go a long way, and the first
- 3:01:33impression the women got upon their arrival was very creepy.
- 3:01:38The home by this point was in a moderate state of decay.
- 3:01:42The fence that had once surrounded the backyard was
- 3:01:45mostly blown down, and the exterior of the home as well as
- 3:01:50the porch was weathered and rotting.
- 3:01:54But despite the odd feelings initially, they make their way
- 3:01:57inside now. At first they actually felt
- 3:02:01welcomed, almost invited in, greeted by the same cherry wood
- 3:02:06interior that has greeted everyone.
- 3:02:08But as soon as they set up their equipment and prepare for their
- 3:02:12stay, as day turns to night, there seems to be a shift in
- 3:02:16energy within the home. The shift went from warm and
- 3:02:21inviting to dark and ominous. Then began the noises, banging,
- 3:02:29footsteps and the moving of furniture.
- 3:02:32The ladies also noted the feeling of being watched
- 3:02:35everywhere they went while asking probing questions.
- 3:02:39As they wandered throughout the house, they would soon also
- 3:02:43witness strange lights in various parts of the home.
- 3:02:47And along with the lights, there soon also came full blown
- 3:02:50apparitions, all of which seem to be centered around the
- 3:02:54basement. And as the night progressed, so
- 3:02:58did their feelings of anxiety. While taking a short break and
- 3:03:02sitting down on one of the couches in the basement, the two
- 3:03:06heard what they described as a large crashing noise above them,
- 3:03:10as if someone or something had thrown a bookshelf across the
- 3:03:14house itself, shaking the entire home.
- 3:03:19Absolutely terrified and panicked, the women
- 3:03:22apprehensively made their way up the stairs and rushed out of the
- 3:03:26home as fast as they possibly could, leaving behind equipment
- 3:03:30and personal items they were too frightened to go back.
- 3:03:35Upon learning of what had taken place, Kristen wasn't at all
- 3:03:39surprised. Over the years, there have been
- 3:03:41dozens of teams of people who couldn't seem to last the night
- 3:03:45for one experience or another. People have been scratched,
- 3:03:49pushed down stairs, punched, bitten, and even in one instance
- 3:03:56thrown across the room by a violent and unseen force.
- 3:04:01Another noteworthy story comes from a team located locally
- 3:04:05there in Ohio. They have had the opportunity to
- 3:04:08visit the home and conduct investigations numerous times
- 3:04:12over the years, but their experience, in particular one
- 3:04:16night, truly makes me question just what exactly haunts the Bel
- 3:04:20Air House. There was three of them this
- 3:04:23time, and it was shortly after midnight when they made their
- 3:04:26way into the attic to continue their investigation.
- 3:04:30During their questioning, they seemed to be getting direct
- 3:04:33interaction with something through their spirit box.
- 3:04:37Then towards the corner of the attic, a mist seemed to
- 3:04:42materialize coming up from the attic floor, slowly enveloping
- 3:04:47the group. Glancing down, they were now too
- 3:04:51stunned to speak. They saw what appeared to be
- 3:04:54thousands of black snake like creatures, Slytherin, over their
- 3:04:59feet and onto their legs. The creatures then began to form
- 3:05:04a figure standing in front of one of the attic windows, a
- 3:05:08creature of pure darkness that seemed to stare at them with
- 3:05:13thousands of tiny beady eyes. The crew, which consisted of two
- 3:05:19men and a woman, ran for their lives, descending the attic
- 3:05:24stairs as quickly as possible, leaving behind anything and
- 3:05:28everything that they had brought with them that wasn't located on
- 3:05:31their person and out of the home for good.
- 3:05:35All of these stories and experiences have led many to
- 3:05:38believe that the Bel Air House is some kind of magnet for
- 3:05:41paranormal activity. A magnet or a host to a portal
- 3:05:46for spirits, whether that portal was opened by the tragedy that
- 3:05:51took place within the mind that once existed below its
- 3:05:54foundation, or one that was open due to seances being conducted
- 3:05:59within the house on multiple occasions.
- 3:06:02But over the years, many different entities have been
- 3:06:05documented, from what appear to be human ghosts to perhaps
- 3:06:10something more sinister. One such entity goes by the name
- 3:06:15of Emily Davis. It is believed that Emily Davis
- 3:06:19was a child that drowned in the Ohio River that flows right by
- 3:06:23the home. Her room is allegedly the same
- 3:06:26room that Kristin's son Nicholas once stayed in.
- 3:06:29And besides the basement, it also seems to be a hotspot for
- 3:06:34paranormal activity. Through various investigations,
- 3:06:391's contact has been made and trust seems to be gained.
- 3:06:43People are often attacked, which have led many to believe that
- 3:06:47Emily isn't a child at all, but a demon.
- 3:06:52Perhaps it could be the same demonic creature that frightened
- 3:06:56Nicholas so bad that he moved out of the home.
- 3:06:59As previously mentioned, many investigators also have claimed
- 3:07:04to have some activity follow them home and even haunt their
- 3:07:08dreams, as if the house or the beings within the house are
- 3:07:13calling out to them to come back for one reason or another.
- 3:07:19Although many questions may never be answered surrounding
- 3:07:22the Bel Air House, one thing is for certain, it continues to be
- 3:07:27considered one of the most haunted places in America, if
- 3:07:31not the world. It also continues to serve as a
- 3:07:34place of study for those wanting to investigate the supernatural
- 3:07:38forces that dwell within its walls.
- 3:07:42But if you find yourself being drawn to the old Victorian, just
- 3:07:47know that if you're not careful, you too could find yourself
- 3:07:51being made a part of its history, whether you like it or
- 3:07:55not. Over the years I've covered a
- 3:08:00wide array of mysteries from The Mothman to UFOs, conspiracies to
- 3:08:06cold cases, and one topic that seemed to resonate more with all
- 3:08:11of you, and one that I've always found fascinating is hauntings.
- 3:08:16Whether that's haunted places, haunted people, or experiences
- 3:08:20that people have had that they would consider paranormal in
- 3:08:24nature. So today I'm trying something
- 3:08:27new. And don't worry, this is adding
- 3:08:30content here on Mystery Archives, so there will still be
- 3:08:33episodes of The Untold Story for you to enjoy.
- 3:08:36Those just take a good chunk of time to produce.
- 3:08:39So in between those episodes, I'd really like to share stories
- 3:08:43from you guys, the community, to bring awareness that these kinds
- 3:08:48of experiences really do happen. And having grown up in a haunted
- 3:08:52home myself, I know that often times people are hesitant to
- 3:08:55share their stories for fear of ridicule or for fear of whatever
- 3:09:00they've experienced flaring up again and reigniting their
- 3:09:04personal nightmare. This platform will hopefully
- 3:09:07give their stories justice, have them heard, and give you a
- 3:09:12glimpse into what people like yourselves have experienced.
- 3:09:16These are your paranormal encounters when a young family
- 3:09:24encounters the devil and the flesh.
- 3:09:28Told from the perspective of a young girl, this terrifying tale
- 3:09:32will have you questioning just what could be happening across
- 3:09:35the street from you, next door, or even in your very own home.
- 3:09:43I was almost 7 when these events took place and I'll be 40 later
- 3:09:48this year. I lived in the Glendale
- 3:09:50apartments in Rock Hill, SC. My baby brother at the time
- 3:09:56wasn't quite even a year old now.
- 3:09:59My mom was young when she had me at 17, and my stepdad Keith was
- 3:10:03exactly 2 months to the day older than her.
- 3:10:07My mom has been gone for 14 years now, but I still remember
- 3:10:11this day like it was yesterday. We had left to get dinner that
- 3:10:16night and by the time we had gotten back, Keith was passed
- 3:10:19out in the front seat of his little hatchback Mustang in the
- 3:10:22parking lot. This was the first of two that
- 3:10:25would find themselves wrapped around trees in my town.
- 3:10:29Keith was suffering from what would later be diagnosed as
- 3:10:32schizophrenia with bipolar tendencies and had seemingly
- 3:10:37been self medicating to alleviate his symptoms since he
- 3:10:41was asleep. My mom urged me not to wake him
- 3:10:45as I helped her get my infant brother at the time out of the
- 3:10:48car and into our apartment. As we began to wind down for the
- 3:10:53evening, our phone began to ring, shattering the calm peace
- 3:10:59that was our lives. It was Keith's mom, Mary.
- 3:11:03She lived on the other side of the complex, which mostly housed
- 3:11:07old people and people with disabilities.
- 3:11:11She sounded panicked, screaming that something was happening in
- 3:11:15her apartment, that she needed help immediately.
- 3:11:19My mom rushed to go wake Keith up out in the parking lot, but
- 3:11:23upon running up to the car, he was nowhere to be found.
- 3:11:27She rushed back into our apartment saying that she
- 3:11:30couldn't find Keith when he suddenly appeared in the hallway
- 3:11:35and neither of us had seen him come into the apartment.
- 3:11:39He seemed completely out of it and was terrified, saying that
- 3:11:43something was taking him over and that he couldn't control
- 3:11:48himself. I saw his eyes, they were black.
- 3:11:53My mother didn't have time to deal with or process his antics
- 3:11:57and gathered us to walk to his mother's apartment.
- 3:11:59In the meantime, as we rushed over there as fast as we could,
- 3:12:04I remember getting a skin crawling feeling every time
- 3:12:07Keith looked at me, like it was something completely foreign to
- 3:12:11this world peering into my soul. We arrived and were quickly let
- 3:12:16into Mary's apartment. Her lights were flickering and
- 3:12:20her pictures were swaying back and forth on the walls.
- 3:12:24A heavy presence could be felt by all of us.
- 3:12:28Mary was deeply religious and couldn't understand just what
- 3:12:31was taking place, but she believed it to be evil.
- 3:12:36Keith was now standing in the living room and began to sway
- 3:12:39back and forth as the activity seemed to intensify.
- 3:12:44As my mother approached him to ask what he was doing, he began
- 3:12:48to laugh. This was the deepest, most
- 3:12:51maniacal laugh I have ever heard and I still get chills thinking
- 3:12:56about it. This voice was not his own.
- 3:13:00My mother quickly backed up, unsure of what to do, and he
- 3:13:05then began to point at me saying I'm going to sacrifice that
- 3:13:09child tonight. His eyes were now blood red.
- 3:13:15Mary by this time had grabbed some of her belongings from her
- 3:13:18room and happened to have some blessed oil along with her
- 3:13:21Bible. She threw the oil on Keith's
- 3:13:24face and it began to boil. The sound of sizzling and
- 3:13:29screaming was horrific. My mother's love for Keith
- 3:13:34quickly overpowered her fear and she pulled him into the bathroom
- 3:13:38to examine his face. She was freaking out to say the
- 3:13:42least, partially because of how unbelievable the circumstances
- 3:13:46were and just how badly he was burnt on his face.
- 3:13:51His eyes at this point were rolled into the back of his
- 3:13:54head. Then suddenly, without warning,
- 3:13:59he rushed my mom and pinned her against the wall.
- 3:14:03His younger sister, Nikki and his mother quickly rushed in to
- 3:14:07help free her, with Mary dumping more oil on him each time.
- 3:14:12His skin literally sizzled where it landed.
- 3:14:16This fortunately worked. Keith now laid catatonic on the
- 3:14:20bathroom floor. So all together, us girls moved
- 3:14:24him into a nearby bedroom and restrained him to the bed using
- 3:14:28anything we could find for our own safety.
- 3:14:33Shortly after we did this, his mother called the nearby oratory
- 3:14:37and asked for a priest to assist us immediately.
- 3:14:41Nikki, who was a teenager at the time, was trying to comfort me,
- 3:14:45telling me that Keith was just really sick and not to be
- 3:14:49scared. She encouraged me to try and get
- 3:14:52some sleep and I of course couldn't and wouldn't.
- 3:14:56I didn't dare close my eyes for fear of that thing hurting my
- 3:15:00mom. And this room with Keith was a
- 3:15:04picture of Jesus kneeling on top of a mountain.
- 3:15:07I heard Keith laughing in that other worldly voice.
- 3:15:11He called out to me. He said, you know, little girl,
- 3:15:16I used to be an Angel with the most beautiful wings until that
- 3:15:20bastard was born. Then I was cast from atop that
- 3:15:25mountain and banished. I asked who are you, the devil?
- 3:15:32He perked up, looked me dead in my eyes and said I am Lucifer,
- 3:15:38the light bringer here in the flesh.
- 3:15:42I'm not only taking Keith with me, but all of you as well.
- 3:15:46Now untie me. I ran hysterically to my mother
- 3:15:51who was having a cigarette to calm her nerves.
- 3:15:54She ran into the room to comfort him when he said do you want to
- 3:15:58see proof? And against her will, my mother
- 3:16:01then extinguished the cigarette into his arm with Keith
- 3:16:05exclaiming it feels so good. You'll have to adjust to the
- 3:16:10searing flames, but in due time you too will call it home.
- 3:16:16She then rushed out of the room and closed the door.
- 3:16:20We waited with bated breath for the priest to arrive when
- 3:16:24shortly after 3:00 AM there was a knock on the door.
- 3:16:27Thank God it was him. For the next several hours they
- 3:16:31attempted to cast this thing out of Keith, probably for the best.
- 3:16:36They kept me in the living room away from the demonic terror
- 3:16:40that was inhabiting his body. But my God, the smells that
- 3:16:44wafted throughout the complex like putrid meat and sulfur.
- 3:16:50I soon also heard moaning and growling from dogs that didn't
- 3:16:56exist. There was a strange fog that had
- 3:16:59enveloped the apartment itself, and a strange flickering light
- 3:17:04that now emanated from the room or the exorcism was taking
- 3:17:08place. I began to close my eyes and
- 3:17:12pray to God harder than I'd ever prayed before, wanting and
- 3:17:16wishing for all of it to end, when suddenly it did.
- 3:17:22Keith had seemingly been freed of these spiritual shackles, and
- 3:17:26although I was terrified, I was more than wanting to finally get
- 3:17:30some sleep. So after the priest departed and
- 3:17:34all seemed fine, we slowly made our way back home through the
- 3:17:38damp misty morning that was now upon us.
- 3:17:43Upon arriving home and heading inside, we all began to make our
- 3:17:47way to our bedrooms to try and sleep.
- 3:17:51I found myself in my bed, comfy and finally about to rest when I
- 3:17:57felt my bed shake. I quickly opened my eyes to find
- 3:18:01my bed off the floor and my bedpost balls screwed off each
- 3:18:07one in the corner of each post. Floating there.
- 3:18:12I screamed harder than I've ever screamed before, alerting my
- 3:18:15mother who rushed to save me. Upon her running in, my bed
- 3:18:20suddenly slammed to the ground and my bedpost balls all fell to
- 3:18:25the floor. The events of that night and the
- 3:18:29following morning can never be forgotten by me and my family.
- 3:18:33For the next year and a half, we dealt with similar smells
- 3:18:36wafting throughout our apartment, unseen snarls and
- 3:18:40growls, and a feeling of anxiety as if our every move was being
- 3:18:45watched. But thank God it all eventually
- 3:18:49faded. I had since asked Keith how he
- 3:18:52came to be in that state, but I could never really get a clear
- 3:18:56answer. He often drank moonshine and was
- 3:18:59in a bad state mentally and spiritually at the time.
- 3:19:03Perhaps this weakened him enough to let something in somehow.
- 3:19:08I've since moved on from that place, but heard something very
- 3:19:11interesting that I'd also like to share in regards to him.
- 3:19:15This was the apartment we lived in, and a young boy mysteriously
- 3:19:18passed away within it not too long ago.
- 3:19:21The details of the case are hard to find, but I believe he was
- 3:19:25about as old as I was when everything had taken place to
- 3:19:29us. There has also been multiple
- 3:19:31shootings, stabbings, and murders that have taken place
- 3:19:36near and in the complex itself. It seems like whatever possessed
- 3:19:41Keith and stalked us maybe never truly left.
- 3:19:46I'm glad to share my story with all of you and I just want you
- 3:19:49to know that these things are very real.
- 3:19:52The paranormal is real and please do not meddle with it
- 3:19:58because you just don't know what you could be inviting in this
- 3:20:02energy, this evil. Wanted my soul and it seems like
- 3:20:08it may have taken multiple lives and pursuit of whatever
- 3:20:12nefarious things it wanted. Leia.
- 3:20:19I would like to thank Leia for submitting this chilling story
- 3:20:22of an exorcism that took place to her stepfather and she was a
- 3:20:26child. The entire situation must have
- 3:20:29been terrifying to endure, to say the least, and I commend her
- 3:20:34for being willing to share this with us and warn others that
- 3:20:38these things are very real indeed.
- 3:20:41I also believe it's important to bring awareness to these kinds
- 3:20:44of topics for a number of reasons.
- 3:20:47I am curious just how Keith became possessed, however, and
- 3:20:52if it was truly by Lucifer himself or something pretending
- 3:20:56to be him. All around a terrifying tale
- 3:21:00from Leia. Upon laying her head down to
- 3:21:05sleep, a young woman is seemingly transported to another
- 3:21:10time or place where she interacts with malevolent
- 3:21:14spirits. This one may just make you
- 3:21:17wonder if the very same has ever happened to you.
- 3:21:22One hot Saturday morning in 2001, my ex-husband Dean and I
- 3:21:28went to the grocery store. By the time we returned home and
- 3:21:31put everything away, it was almost noon.
- 3:21:35I prepared some lunch for us and by two PMI announced that the
- 3:21:39heat had made me feel so very tired and that I would need to
- 3:21:43lie down. Dean would go on to watch TV
- 3:21:46with the volume on low, and I closed the bedroom door as soon
- 3:21:51as my head hit the pillow. I went out like a light.
- 3:21:55Then in what seemed like only 5 minutes later I was woken up by
- 3:22:00a lady speaking beside my bed. It was if she was addressing
- 3:22:04another person but yet in a crystal clear voice across the
- 3:22:08room she said something along the lines of don't disturb her,
- 3:22:13let her sleep. This startled me.
- 3:22:17I immediately sat up in my bed and I looked around but saw
- 3:22:21nothing. I knew I wasn't dreaming as the
- 3:22:24voice was real and yet spoke at an audible enough level even to
- 3:22:28wake me up. Regardless whether a dream or
- 3:22:32real, I was too exhausted and quickly fell asleep again.
- 3:22:37Now this is where things took a stranger turn.
- 3:22:40I felt my soul leave my body. It rose up to where the wall met
- 3:22:45the ceiling. I crossed through the wall and
- 3:22:48into another place in time. I was no longer within my home,
- 3:22:53but found myself in a scene from the 18th century.
- 3:22:58It was similar to watching a black and white film, but in
- 3:23:02varying shades of Gray. I saw a few people who were
- 3:23:05extravagantly dressed and wore coiffed and powdered wigs,
- 3:23:10sitting on a plush Steven and some armchairs.
- 3:23:14They sat almost motionless by a small low lying table.
- 3:23:18Only the woman slowly looked about, but nobody seemed to
- 3:23:22notice me. I looked to my left and saw a
- 3:23:26couple standing still, arms held in an arch above in the air,
- 3:23:31hands touching, poised, as if waiting for music to start for
- 3:23:36their dance. I looked past them and saw a few
- 3:23:41men, one at each small table, just sitting quietly and
- 3:23:45motionless. Then I looked to my right, past
- 3:23:49the few people I initially saw and looked in awe at the sight
- 3:23:54before me. I realized I was in a vast hall
- 3:23:57as far as the eye could see. I saw no other people, and the
- 3:24:02next thing I knew I was back in my body, seemingly asleep, yet
- 3:24:08aware of my surroundings. I was made aware of the large
- 3:24:12crowd of people outside of my bedroom door.
- 3:24:16The sound was similar to what you would hear in a crowded bar,
- 3:24:20many people talking amongst themselves.
- 3:24:23However, there was one woman's voice that could be heard
- 3:24:26slightly above the rest of the crowd.
- 3:24:29I didn't pay it any special attention as I wasn't focusing
- 3:24:32on anyone in particular, nor catch what she had said.
- 3:24:36And what was only a moment later, that same voice was
- 3:24:40louder and closer, this time just on the other side of my
- 3:24:44bedroom door. Although I paid a little more
- 3:24:47attention now, what she said was still indiscernible, and the
- 3:24:52voice was yet to be one that I recognized.
- 3:24:55A voice belonging to a stranger. And what seemed just another
- 3:24:59moment again, she opened the door, stepped into my room, and
- 3:25:04then shut the door behind her. I laid frozen in my bed, unable
- 3:25:09to move, yet I felt real terror at this point, although I
- 3:25:14couldn't move at all, my eyes were fixed at top of the wall.
- 3:25:18Somehow, with my mind's eye, I saw her.
- 3:25:22It was my mother who had passed away 21 years earlier.
- 3:25:26She wore a long white shroud, which I never got to see her in,
- 3:25:30but I knew that she had been buried in one by now.
- 3:25:35I was totally terrified. I wanted to scream out for help.
- 3:25:39Better still to get out of there, but I wasn't able to move
- 3:25:43a muscle. I watched my mother pace to and
- 3:25:46fro past the foot of my bed in absolute rage.
- 3:25:51She was so angry with me. She was literally spitting mad
- 3:25:55while she was scolding me. Never had I seen her this angry.
- 3:26:00The one thing I did notice once my mother's spirit had entered
- 3:26:03the room was that while my eyes were fixed near the ceiling, it
- 3:26:08was within my range of sight that I'd seen a soft white
- 3:26:13gashes ball of light appear to my right at the corner of the
- 3:26:16ceiling. It was about the size of a
- 3:26:18basketball, though not quite as spherical.
- 3:26:22It was so very slow moving, like a swirl of white smoke within
- 3:26:26itself. Somehow I felt like it was
- 3:26:29protecting me from this evil, like a guardian Angel.
- 3:26:33Once my mother was done raging at me, she faced the door and
- 3:26:37held the door slightly open. She paused and told me that I'd
- 3:26:42be dead by midnight tonight. She then shut the door behind
- 3:26:46her and left. As soon as she was out the door,
- 3:26:50the ball of light had dissipated too and I felt instant relief.
- 3:26:56I looked at the clock and it was now 3:00 PM.
- 3:26:59All of this strangeness took place in the space of 1
- 3:27:03terrifying hour. I still don't know if that was
- 3:27:06the spirit of my mother or something evil imitating her.
- 3:27:10All I know is that I jumped out of bed and rushed to the lounge
- 3:27:14room, telling Dean what I had seen.
- 3:27:17Though I didn't mention my mother's parting words, Dean
- 3:27:21wasn't remotely interested. He only mumbled as I interrupted
- 3:27:25him watching his program. Well, that was the end of the
- 3:27:28nap I wasn't quite able to get. As evening approached, I
- 3:27:32constantly glanced at my watch. Although we retired for the day
- 3:27:36at about 10:00 PM that night, I was fearful yet resigned in my
- 3:27:41fate. I hadn't told the soul about my
- 3:27:43mother's message in case it tempted fate.
- 3:27:47On waking the next morning, I couldn't have felt more relieved
- 3:27:50and thrilled to still be alive now that it felt safe to do so.
- 3:27:55I told Dean and later my neighbor about it all.
- 3:27:58They showed me the goosebumps on their arms and expressed fear as
- 3:28:02I recounted my experience. This was 22 years ago and I
- 3:28:07still think of that day and the sheer terror that it brought me.
- 3:28:11It's a day that I can never forget.
- 3:28:14Johanna. That story was chilling.
- 3:28:18Johanna. I too am curious if it was some
- 3:28:20kind of spirit impersonating your mother or if it was somehow
- 3:28:24her. The detail of what she was
- 3:28:27wearing also happened to be what she was buried in.
- 3:28:30Literally gave me goosebumps. So thank you so much for sharing
- 3:28:34your story and continuing to bring awareness to these topics.
- 3:28:41A young man seemingly interacts with his grandmother who has
- 3:28:44long since passed away, but he isn't the only one that sees and
- 3:28:50feels her presence. This was in reference to
- 3:28:55watching one of my videos. Watching this video reminded me
- 3:28:59of something that's been going on in my house.
- 3:29:02My wife's grandmother died before we got together and her
- 3:29:06son was the last person in the hospital room with her when she
- 3:29:10passed. Now, my work schedule varies,
- 3:29:13but generally I'm up between 3:00 and 4:00 AM every day.
- 3:29:18Sometimes I feel a presence or I thought I saw what was a shadow
- 3:29:23and my peripheral vision. I finally told my wife about
- 3:29:28this a while back and she proceeded to tell me that her
- 3:29:31autistic son regularly speaks to his deceased grandmother.
- 3:29:36We've both spoken to him multiple times and apparently
- 3:29:40she visits him constantly. My wife admitted that she's seen
- 3:29:44her in our house a couple of times as well.
- 3:29:47I've offered to have the house cleansed, but my wife said no.
- 3:29:52Apparently his grandmother visits him all the time and
- 3:29:55watches over him and he's admitted that he still sees her.
- 3:29:59He's autistic, so he's very honest with everything.
- 3:30:04I'd like your guys's input about this.
- 3:30:06Thank you caveman. Well, caveman especially since
- 3:30:12he's autistic. That really does convince me of
- 3:30:15his sincerity and honesty. The young man clearly doesn't
- 3:30:18have a motivation to gain anything by saying this.
- 3:30:22And when you have felt this presence, is it as she was in
- 3:30:26life? Is it more of a benevolent
- 3:30:29energy or something else? It's also very interesting that
- 3:30:33your wife has seen her on multiple occasions as well.
- 3:30:37Perhaps she is watching over her grandson.
- 3:30:40Children often have an extra sense it seems like, to be able
- 3:30:44to interact with the spirit world.
- 3:30:46Reading your story reminded me of when my brother was younger
- 3:30:50and we had a very similar situation.
- 3:30:53My mom's father, Paul, had passed away in their family home
- 3:30:57in 2002, when my brother was just two years old.
- 3:31:02Prior to his passing, Paul seemed to be motioning for
- 3:31:06things to go away, things that we couldn't see, perhaps trying
- 3:31:11to state that he wasn't ready to go yet.
- 3:31:14Several months after his passing, with my grandmother
- 3:31:17Agnes still inhabiting the very same house, my brother Kaden had
- 3:31:21started to interact with something that we couldn't see.
- 3:31:25He would often play around the living room, which was the same
- 3:31:28room my grandfather passed away in.
- 3:31:31One day when he was in a full conversation with this person,
- 3:31:36my mother asked him who he was talking to and he said Grandpa
- 3:31:40Paul. It took the very breath out of
- 3:31:43her lungs. These interactions were fairly
- 3:31:47frequent until he was about four or five years old.
- 3:31:51The name suddenly went away one day.
- 3:31:54It truly makes one beg the question, just how often do our
- 3:31:57loved ones truly watch over us? Thanks for sharing this one,
- 3:32:02Caveman. Thank you all for watching.

- 3:32:18mentioned in the beginning of this video, I think it's very
- 3:32:21important to bring awareness to the paranormal question.
- 3:32:24It, in a sense, is the ultimate question in my opinion.
- 3:32:28What truly happens when you pass through the veil of this reality
- 3:32:32and into the afterlife? I appreciate all of you as
- 3:32:36always. I hope all of you are doing well
