- 0:04Speaker 1: Here we got Baltimore Orioles first baseman, Pete Alazzo, joining
- 0:08Speaker 1: us right now on foul Territory. Pete, great to have
- 0:11Speaker 1: you on. Congratulations on the deal. And how does the
- 0:13Speaker 1: introduction sound to you? It's weird or is it feeling nice?
- 0:16Speaker 2: Now?
- 0:17Speaker 3: No, it's it's it's awesome.
- 0:19Speaker 4: I mean, I'm just I'm just so happy, and I
- 0:23Speaker 4: mean it's it's gonna be it's gonna be a great
- 0:24Speaker 4: time in Birdland.
- 0:25Speaker 3: So I'm stoked.
- 0:29Speaker 5: Well, you got all the right words. You say it all.
- 0:32Speaker 5: Now it's birdland. Look at you. You like you fit
- 0:34Speaker 5: in like a short thumb.
- 0:35Speaker 2: I love that.
- 0:40Speaker 4: You want to talk about thumbs like you should show
- 0:42Speaker 4: the camera. Come on, show the show the camera, show them.
- 0:49Speaker 3: Don't start, I want to see.
- 0:51Speaker 6: Is it so gross? Pete?
- 0:54Speaker 2: You know my thumbs.
- 0:56Speaker 5: You know about my thumbs. Don't start?
- 0:58Speaker 2: All right?
- 0:59Speaker 3: All right, all right, we can start now.
- 1:03Speaker 6: Okay, let's go.
- 1:06Speaker 2: All right, so let's start. Let's start here.
- 1:08Speaker 1: I'll try and keep us on the rails at least
- 1:10Speaker 1: for a few minutes of this conversation, please, I'll try.
- 1:14Speaker 2: So.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Uh, when was the first conversation with Baltimore for you?
- 1:18Speaker 1: In terms of front office and everyone. I know you
- 1:20Speaker 1: had some time at the winter meetings, but can you
- 1:23Speaker 1: just take us through their recruiting process with you?
- 1:27Speaker 4: Yeah, So, to be honest, it kind of started early.
- 1:30Speaker 4: So it started right at the right at the GM
- 1:33Speaker 4: meetings where Mike sat down with my agent Scott and
- 1:37Speaker 4: and they pretty much were it's kind of like they
- 1:41Speaker 4: just wanted to gauge interest. And for me, I'm like,
- 1:44Speaker 4: they got a great talented young core and Camden's a
- 1:48Speaker 4: very very gorgeous park. It's a great place to play.
- 1:51Speaker 4: It's it's it's always for me, a very enjoyable place
- 1:54Speaker 4: to hit. So I'm like, yeah, I mean, if they're interested,
- 1:56Speaker 4: I'd love to hear what they had to say. But really,
- 1:59Speaker 4: for me, the really the couple points that really drove
- 2:03Speaker 4: home that stood out was it pretty much gave me
- 2:07Speaker 4: a whole blueprint. Uh, Michael ISAs and then I'll be
- 2:09Speaker 4: the manager, Like I just think for I just think
- 2:12Speaker 4: for for me, my game and what I can bring
- 2:15Speaker 4: to a team.
- 2:16Speaker 3: I feel like this is the perfect fit.
- 2:19Speaker 6: Did I mean, I mean, obviously Schwarber. Schwarber signs and
- 2:23Speaker 6: it comes out that you know, Baltimore was in on
- 2:25Speaker 6: Schwarber after he signed, Did you get phone calls? Then?
- 2:29Speaker 6: Was the official offer? Because we always hear from free
- 2:32Speaker 6: agents and well I love asking free agents this kind
- 2:36Speaker 6: of stuff like oh, hey Gauge and some interests, Hey,
- 2:39Speaker 6: how you doing, but they never want to actually give
- 2:42Speaker 6: the offer once Schwarber signed. Did is that when you
- 2:45Speaker 6: got the offer? Or was it out there before? And
- 2:48Speaker 6: it was one of a hey first one takes it,
- 2:50Speaker 6: first one gets.
- 2:51Speaker 4: It, so for it was actually interesting, So they got
- 2:57Speaker 4: an So they pretty mu much offered before before our
- 3:02Speaker 4: meeting and just to just to like just an initial offer.
- 3:07Speaker 4: I won't get into details, but they they were pretty
- 3:10Speaker 4: serious right off the rip, and like before even meeting,
- 3:13Speaker 4: they would wanted to show how serious we they were.
- 3:17Speaker 4: They're like, hey, we're doing this because we're we're actual,
- 3:20Speaker 4: like we really believe in you, and we're we want
- 3:23Speaker 4: you to really just like hear us out. And then
- 3:27Speaker 4: once like once it happened, I was like I was
- 3:30Speaker 4: just blown away with with the plan and I mean
- 3:35Speaker 4: with what they're trying to do, not just like like
- 3:38Speaker 4: the renovations that they're doing in the spring training complex,
- 3:41Speaker 4: but in the stadium, and but just from a just
- 3:44Speaker 4: on a philosophical level that I just think that they're like,
- 3:48Speaker 4: I really get their vision. I see it, and I'm
- 3:52Speaker 4: just really I'm just stoked to be a part of it.
- 3:54Speaker 4: I mean, I feel like it's a really exciting time,
- 3:57Speaker 4: uh to be a part of this organization, and I'm
- 4:00Speaker 4: I'm stoked.
- 4:01Speaker 5: So I'm I'm texting my son right now because I
- 4:04Speaker 5: forgot to tell him you were on the show, and
- 4:06Speaker 5: I said, you got any questions for Pete? And he said,
- 4:08Speaker 5: Blake and Bake and his boys at school. He said,
- 4:10Speaker 5: do you think you made the decision too early and
- 4:13Speaker 5: not wait for another offer from another team? I said,
- 4:15Speaker 5: And then I told him get back to your studies.
- 4:17Speaker 5: So we're good after that.
- 4:19Speaker 4: No, it's for honestly, it just for me. Everything it
- 4:23Speaker 4: just it just felt like it just felt like a glove.
- 4:25Speaker 4: Everything was natural. Everything was to me. This is after everything.
- 4:30Speaker 4: It's like, I have no regrets. Everything was just I
- 4:34Speaker 4: think it played out perfectly. I feel like I'm in
- 4:37Speaker 4: the perfect spot.
- 4:39Speaker 6: That's awesome to hear. That's awesome because you got five
- 4:41Speaker 6: years to do it. What was some of their pitch?
- 4:44Speaker 6: What was some of the that you can tell us obviously,
- 4:46Speaker 6: you can't tell us, Hey, they're going to go out
- 4:48Speaker 6: and get this, but what was some of their pitch
- 4:51Speaker 6: because we're never sitting in those in those meetings as
- 4:54Speaker 6: a free agent.
- 4:56Speaker 4: Well, to be honest, I just think, I mean, I
- 4:59Speaker 4: don't want to get into the nitty gritty because that
- 5:01Speaker 4: could be divulging a little too much, But to be honest,
- 5:05Speaker 4: I think, uh, I just really like I just feel
- 5:10Speaker 4: like everything is just aligned, like just from a connection standpoint,
- 5:14Speaker 4: like how how we view the game and and just
- 5:16Speaker 4: like the attention to detail in the group, the blueprint
- 5:19Speaker 4: in the direction and the commitment from it, not just
- 5:23Speaker 4: from the managerial coaching staff side that I'll be like
- 5:27Speaker 4: pretty much laid right out. And then Mike, Mike was
- 5:31Speaker 4: fantastic the whole way. And uh and all honestly too
- 5:34Speaker 4: from the new ownership grew. I think it's everything. Everybody's
- 5:37Speaker 4: on the same page, and it's just really it's and
- 5:41Speaker 4: for for me, like they're like, hey, like we not
- 5:46Speaker 4: just like your talent, your skill set, but what you
- 5:48Speaker 4: bring on and off the field could be a tremendous
- 5:51Speaker 4: help like not just the player and helping us win games.
- 5:55Speaker 4: But like I learned the some incredible leadership skills from
- 5:59Speaker 4: mister Fray helping out Phrasers helped me out. And I
- 6:03Speaker 4: feel like for them, they're like, hey, like you've played
- 6:06Speaker 4: in some pretty high intensity ball games, You've have playoff experience,
- 6:11Speaker 4: and you know how to be a professional, and like,
- 6:15Speaker 4: not only do we expect you to help like help
- 6:18Speaker 4: win with your own contributions, but there are some guys
- 6:21Speaker 4: in this team that could help use your guidance and
- 6:23Speaker 4: we think culturally are a huge fit for us, and
- 6:27Speaker 4: and and for me, it's like like how and again
- 6:30Speaker 4: there's oops, sorry almost dropped you, but again, like it
- 6:35Speaker 4: is like it just felt really I don't know, it's
- 6:39Speaker 4: like for them to really be fully committed and see
- 6:43Speaker 4: not just the not just the stuff production wise, but
- 6:47Speaker 4: to see what and recognize what I do and how
- 6:49Speaker 4: I can help a clubhouse out in that way too.
- 6:52Speaker 4: I mean, I'm just really I'm very appreciative of that.
- 6:56Speaker 4: And and I'm gonna I'm gonna give everything I got
- 6:58Speaker 4: every day.
- 7:00Speaker 5: I know you wrote a nice message to the fans.
- 7:03Speaker 5: I know how articulate you are, and you're you're you
- 7:05Speaker 5: got a smart you're very smart man, and it was
- 7:08Speaker 5: very heartfelt. It was beautiful. Let me ask you this though,
- 7:11Speaker 5: at the end of the day, forget about the fans
- 7:13Speaker 5: talk about like I felt like the Mets really didn't
- 7:16Speaker 5: get that much involved with you this offseason, like that
- 7:19Speaker 5: that had the I mean home run king over there,
- 7:22Speaker 5: you did your job and the Mets fans loved you.
- 7:24Speaker 5: That had to hurt a little bit.
- 7:25Speaker 4: No, I'm todd to be honest, buddy, Like, for me,
- 7:29Speaker 4: it's just I I just it's it's okay because I
- 7:33Speaker 4: know I gave everything I had every single day.
- 7:35Speaker 3: I'm appreciative of it.
- 7:37Speaker 4: But I mean, at the end of the day, it's
- 7:39Speaker 4: it's for me, I'm just I'm just happy where this
- 7:42Speaker 4: is where not just where I'm going to be playing,
- 7:44Speaker 4: but where like for me as a for me like
- 7:47Speaker 4: this is where my family's gonna be.
- 7:50Speaker 3: And they welcomed us with open arms.
- 7:52Speaker 4: And that's why for me, it's like I feel like
- 7:54Speaker 4: I'm in the I feel like I'm in the right place, uh,
- 7:58Speaker 4: And I feel like we as a family are in
- 7:59Speaker 4: the right place. And the Orioles like they they have
- 8:03Speaker 4: treat like they treated us excellent the whole way. And
- 8:07Speaker 4: it's not that the Mets didn't I'm I'm I'm just
- 8:09Speaker 4: very like blessed, and I feel like we're in the
- 8:11Speaker 4: right again. We're in the right spot. And how could
- 8:14Speaker 4: I be salty over that?
- 8:16Speaker 6: When did you realize that you weren't going back to
- 8:18Speaker 6: the Mets? Was it last off season? Was it this
- 8:21Speaker 6: off season? Was it the end of the season.
- 8:26Speaker 4: I mean it was like, I mean, it was pretty
- 8:30Speaker 4: much when it's pretty much when like like when it
- 8:34Speaker 4: came down to like the true negotiating point, and it's like,
- 8:37Speaker 4: all right, they're just it's just it's just not going
- 8:40Speaker 4: to happen. And and that for me, it's like and
- 8:43Speaker 4: for me it's like I I gave everything I have
- 8:46Speaker 4: and and I always do, you know, and and it's
- 8:50Speaker 4: I just don't take it personal because at the end
- 8:52Speaker 4: of the day, it's it's there, it's their philosophy, it's
- 8:55Speaker 4: their business decision, and and uh, I'm in a place
- 8:58Speaker 4: that where they they see me in their future and
- 9:01Speaker 4: in their presence. So I'm I'm stoked to be there
- 9:05Speaker 4: and I can't wait to win ball games for the
- 9:07Speaker 4: Baltimore Oils.
- 9:09Speaker 6: Can you compare your twenty four and twenty five season
- 9:12Speaker 6: in the sense of, like how you felt because some
- 9:15Speaker 6: people say, you look at the numbers, well, you know,
- 9:17Speaker 6: it's a free agent year. Some things got You always
- 9:20Speaker 6: are out there playing. You're always the guy who, just
- 9:23Speaker 6: like you said, you're always giving everything you have. So
- 9:25Speaker 6: that's never that's never in question. Can you talk about
- 9:28Speaker 6: how you felt in those two years going through you know,
- 9:33Speaker 6: I'm a free agent in twenty four. I've done this
- 9:35Speaker 6: before in twenty five, and then you go out and
- 9:37Speaker 6: essentially have a career year besides your rookie year like
- 9:42Speaker 6: you did in twenty five.
- 9:43Speaker 4: Yeah, a lot of it didn't really have anything to
- 9:46Speaker 4: do with that. A lot of it had to do
- 9:48Speaker 4: with really deep diving into kind of like my process
- 9:52Speaker 4: because for me, like I did a I totally spearheaded,
- 9:57Speaker 4: like the like the biomechanical side of hitting and understanding
- 10:02Speaker 4: more of how my body worked, and I pretty much
- 10:04Speaker 4: shifted my entire program and basically it helped me understand
- 10:09Speaker 4: and know how to twist the dials day to day,
- 10:13Speaker 4: not just like swing feels, body feels, but also like
- 10:16Speaker 4: from a scouting perspective too. So for me, I think
- 10:20Speaker 4: that was the adjustment. And the exciting thing is is
- 10:24Speaker 4: that twenty five was the first year and me on
- 10:27Speaker 4: my kind of like new program, and for me, I'm
- 10:32Speaker 4: just really excited to keep forging down that path. And
- 10:38Speaker 4: it's not like things weren't wrong in twenty four. I mean,
- 10:41Speaker 4: things were okay, But once I got to the playoffs
- 10:46Speaker 4: in twenty four, I was like, man, I want to
- 10:47Speaker 4: feel like this every day. How can I replicate it?
- 10:50Speaker 4: How can I replicate not just this feeling, but how
- 10:54Speaker 4: can I replicate the mechanics and get consistent in those
- 10:57Speaker 4: and not deviate. There's got to be some sort of
- 11:00Speaker 4: like workouts, activations, treatment for me to feel that way.
- 11:04Speaker 4: And I kind of found a process and the off
- 11:08Speaker 4: season going into twenty five and pretty much stuck to
- 11:11Speaker 4: it the whole year.
- 11:12Speaker 3: And I feel like I have a.
- 11:15Speaker 4: Great not just awareness but direction of how to attack
- 11:19Speaker 4: each day.
- 11:20Speaker 3: Dude, that's that's salad.
- 11:22Speaker 5: And I think year in and year out, you know
- 11:25Speaker 5: when I tell you how smart you are, that grew
- 11:28Speaker 5: and grew as you saw more pitching, as you got developed,
- 11:31Speaker 5: and you understand everything else. You have a new baby boy, man,
- 11:34Speaker 5: congratulations first and foremost. I think that's the way with
- 11:38Speaker 5: everything in perspective, talk about being you know, father now
- 11:41Speaker 5: to a young boy, and you know you got at
- 11:43Speaker 5: least five years in Baltimore to raise him up and
- 11:46Speaker 5: show him the ropes over there.
- 11:47Speaker 4: Yeah, I honestly, I'm I mean, he's three months and
- 11:51Speaker 4: it's really it's really a treat. But man, I can't
- 11:54Speaker 4: wait till he starts walking, running around, and especially when
- 11:58Speaker 4: he gets old enough to start swinging the bat around.
- 12:01Speaker 3: Uh.
- 12:02Speaker 4: I mean I always watched you Todd, like with in
- 12:05Speaker 4: a bunch of other guys, like bring their kids in,
- 12:07Speaker 4: like get to hip balls off the tee after the
- 12:10Speaker 4: game and just kind of do all that fun stuff
- 12:13Speaker 4: while you're still in your uniform. I'm visualizing that and
- 12:17Speaker 4: seeing it, like I don't know, like it's gonna be
- 12:19Speaker 4: really special to have those moments when he gets older
- 12:22Speaker 4: and even now, like it's just it's it's really such
- 12:26Speaker 4: a treat.
- 12:28Speaker 5: Good.
- 12:28Speaker 6: I love to hear the end part of that there,
- 12:30Speaker 6: because don't ever wish it forward. If you ever seen
- 12:32Speaker 6: the movie Click where he just clicks it all forward,
- 12:35Speaker 6: don't do like he's going to be at the field,
- 12:38Speaker 6: he's going to be pooping his pants at the park.
- 12:41Speaker 6: Like it'll be great, Like you'll have those times right now.
- 12:44Speaker 6: Enjoy the fact that that little nugget doesn't move anywhere.
- 12:47Speaker 6: That's my only parent parental advice.
- 12:52Speaker 4: Yeah, because when they start getting up and moving around,
- 12:54Speaker 4: that's when you got to play zone defense.
- 12:57Speaker 3: I'm sure of it.
- 12:58Speaker 6: Yes, what if some of your goals you're a guy
- 13:01Speaker 6: that has an opportunity to hit five hundred home runs
- 13:04Speaker 6: and I know you're going to say the team, Oh,
- 13:06Speaker 6: the team, we want to win the World Series. I
- 13:08Speaker 6: get that. Or you wouldn't be really in this if
- 13:11Speaker 6: it wasn't for the team stuff. Your personal goals. You're
- 13:14Speaker 6: going to spend five years in Baltimore. What kind of
- 13:18Speaker 6: personal goals are their numbers? Are there things besides like
- 13:21Speaker 6: games play that you like, are really zoned in and
- 13:25Speaker 6: locked in on the knowing the fact that you're going
- 13:27Speaker 6: to be there for five years.
- 13:29Speaker 4: I mean it's a there's a comfort in that. But
- 13:33Speaker 4: despite and this is the thing, like every year, regardless
- 13:36Speaker 4: of contracts, like situation like sucking sucks, and you want
- 13:41Speaker 4: to play the best of your ability every year, whether
- 13:44Speaker 4: it's free agent or you're going in ARB or you're
- 13:47Speaker 4: trying to hold on and hold on and stay in
- 13:49Speaker 4: the big leagues. It doesn't matter. You still want to
- 13:52Speaker 4: play your best every year. That's just the competitive nature
- 13:55Speaker 4: of it. And like personally, yeah, like I think for me,
- 13:59Speaker 4: like it's I know, them a long ways away from
- 14:02Speaker 4: like those like big numbers, but cratsy to be honest,
- 14:05Speaker 4: like my my goals to play one sixty two every year,
- 14:10Speaker 4: uh and be and or get close to it, or
- 14:12Speaker 4: be as healthy as I can so to give myself
- 14:15Speaker 4: an opportunity to to chase those I mean to chase
- 14:18Speaker 4: those like things later on in the career. It's like
- 14:21Speaker 4: right now, I'd like to think I'm in the kind
- 14:24Speaker 4: of like the kind of the the center, the middle
- 14:27Speaker 4: or the meat of my career, and I want to
- 14:30Speaker 4: be able to like just out outlast and endure and
- 14:35Speaker 4: and really just see how long I can play. And
- 14:39Speaker 4: it's not just like it's not just from a year
- 14:42Speaker 4: to year thing, but it's also like how long age wise,
- 14:45Speaker 4: Like I'd love to be. I'd love to be like yeah,
- 14:49Speaker 4: like forty and going into and going into my last
- 14:51Speaker 4: big league season. You know, like that'd be great, but
- 14:54Speaker 4: you got to you gotta earn it, not just not
- 14:57Speaker 4: just perform, but you have to stay healthy.
- 15:00Speaker 5: Yeah. My my question you next is, I know you
- 15:02Speaker 5: have all these maybe designs and stuff going on with
- 15:05Speaker 5: this new team. You have any new cleat or shoe
- 15:08Speaker 5: or anything coming up. I feel like it's time to
- 15:10Speaker 5: get things going here with you. Man with the Polar Bear.
- 15:13Speaker 4: No, I I actually I actually started this regardless. I
- 15:18Speaker 4: wanted to have cleats that were Northern Light themed because
- 15:21Speaker 4: in the North Polars Polar Bears, and I wanted to
- 15:25Speaker 4: I wanted to keep it on on theme and on brand.
- 15:28Speaker 3: Thank you, Todd.
- 15:30Speaker 4: Yeah, so we're doing we're doing Northern Light. Yeah, we're
- 15:33Speaker 4: doing Northern Light team cleats this year.
- 15:36Speaker 5: Beautiful, beautiful. I'll tell I'll tell Blake He'll be waiting
- 15:39Speaker 5: for a pair for the season to come up this
- 15:41Speaker 5: year and we'll be we'll be even.
- 15:42Speaker 2: How about that?
- 15:44Speaker 3: Even Stevens.
- 15:46Speaker 6: Pete, you don't know him, You don't know him anything,
- 15:48Speaker 6: don't don't don't let us weird like.
- 15:51Speaker 4: No, it's not for him, it's it's for it's for Blakester.
- 15:53Speaker 4: So anything for Blakester.
- 15:55Speaker 6: Okay, Okay, that's fair, that's fair. Who are you looking
- 15:58Speaker 6: forward to getting into camp seeing? Is there one guy
- 16:02Speaker 6: on the Orioles that you're like, Man, I've kind of
- 16:04Speaker 6: watched this guy for a little while. I kind of
- 16:06Speaker 6: want to see what what he's like day in and
- 16:08Speaker 6: day out.
- 16:10Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean obviously, I mean obviously there's some great
- 16:14Speaker 4: young talent, I mean Gunner Gunner Rakes. But what I'm
- 16:18Speaker 4: really interested is I want to see Tyler O'Neill's workout,
- 16:22Speaker 4: workout regime. Okay, I mean that's that's behind the scenes,
- 16:26Speaker 4: that's behind the scenes, no one sees it.
- 16:29Speaker 3: But I just want to.
- 16:30Speaker 4: I just want to watch that guy work out, just
- 16:32Speaker 4: just one time, just see what he does.
- 16:34Speaker 6: Are you gonna are you gonna keep up with them? Like?
- 16:36Speaker 6: Are you because I heard he's a one twenty five
- 16:38Speaker 6: dumbbell press guy, Like are you that?
- 16:42Speaker 3: I want to see it?
- 16:43Speaker 6: Are you there? Though? But are you going to be
- 16:45Speaker 6: able to lift with him? Because my strongest mammals on earth?
- 16:50Speaker 4: That's fine, But I just want to I mean again,
- 16:54Speaker 4: I just want to be a spectator.
- 16:55Speaker 6: First shirt on or shirt off? What's you're like?
- 17:02Speaker 3: So the list?
- 17:03Speaker 4: The list, it will be So I I sole I
- 17:07Speaker 4: stole some swag from Harrison Vader. So it's cut sleeves
- 17:10Speaker 4: and then cropped like the old like the old football
- 17:17Speaker 4: to a day, the to a day under that go
- 17:19Speaker 4: under the pets.
- 17:20Speaker 6: Okay, okay, that's bad from me, Pete before you want
- 17:27Speaker 6: to go Scotty. You got a baseball one mind?
- 17:29Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, Well this is celebration wise, so I mean,
- 17:33Speaker 1: you've probably seen what the Orioles do and I don't
- 17:35Speaker 1: know if they'll run it back again, but you know
- 17:37Speaker 1: they're they're all drinking from the funnel stuff like that.
- 17:40Speaker 1: So it's kind of a two part question like have
- 17:42Speaker 1: you seen what they do? And will you bring someone
- 17:44Speaker 1: that you know brings something to the table there.
- 17:47Speaker 2: But also it felt like two years ago the.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Mets had as Krafts calls them, tons of gimmicks, but
- 17:54Speaker 1: it kind of worked like you guys, you guys had magic,
- 17:57Speaker 1: and then last year guys didn't have it. So did
- 17:59Speaker 1: you learn anything from the experience of gimmicks where it's
- 18:02Speaker 1: like we have Mandy on the show all the time,
- 18:04Speaker 1: so he's like, oh that was too, Like that was
- 18:05Speaker 1: fine for that one time, and it's so many so
- 18:07Speaker 1: I'm like, all right, so maybe there's a space between
- 18:10Speaker 1: like eight gimmicks and zero gimmicks that actually works and
- 18:13Speaker 1: it's a winning formula.
- 18:18Speaker 4: You just got to find something that works it's like
- 18:19Speaker 4: all right, I it's like, Okay, this pair of batting
- 18:22Speaker 4: gloves I wined out, so it's the batting glove's fault
- 18:26Speaker 4: that the defender was there. So I'm just going to
- 18:28Speaker 4: get another color pair and it'll work that time. It's
- 18:31Speaker 4: like you just don't know what's going to work until
- 18:33Speaker 4: until it happens. Or it's like, oh, I tied my
- 18:35Speaker 4: right shoe today, that's why, that's why I swung at
- 18:37Speaker 4: three balls in the dirt, or it's like.
- 18:39Speaker 3: Oh, you know what I had.
- 18:40Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 18:41Speaker 4: I had eggs today and I had three hits. It's
- 18:44Speaker 4: the eggs that did it, you know. It's it's honestly,
- 18:47Speaker 4: there's it doesn't matter whatever method of the madness.
- 18:50Speaker 3: It's like you just gotta.
- 18:51Speaker 4: Find what works, whether it's whether it's a lot or
- 18:54Speaker 4: a little, and it's it's case dependent.
- 18:57Speaker 6: Yeah, there's no such thing as a bad gimmick. If
- 18:59Speaker 6: you're getting knocks and you're getting w's.
- 19:01Speaker 4: Right one like again, like it's a I mean, it's
- 19:06Speaker 4: it's only cool.
- 19:07Speaker 3: It's only cool if it works.
- 19:09Speaker 6: That's fair, that's fair, and no such thing as a
- 19:11Speaker 6: bad hit. I like that, all right, I got one
- 19:13Speaker 6: hard hitting Mets question, and I got one fun what
- 19:15Speaker 6: they end for you. But you've seen the fact that
- 19:19Speaker 6: they haven't brought that they traded Anmo, they didn't bring
- 19:21Speaker 6: Diaz Edwin back. You're not back. Did you foresee that
- 19:26Speaker 6: coming last year? How the season ended, or is it
- 19:30Speaker 6: something that you've been surprised about.
- 19:34Speaker 4: I mean, that's just that's it's kind of like a
- 19:36Speaker 4: philosophical thing where it's like, hey, that's just what they
- 19:39Speaker 4: wanted to do. But if you think on it, like
- 19:42Speaker 4: twenty twenty five, it just it just.
- 19:44Speaker 3: Came down a one game.
- 19:46Speaker 4: You know, it came down to one game, and there
- 19:49Speaker 4: was a ton of guys hurt where I feel like
- 19:51Speaker 4: if they weren't that would have put us in a
- 19:53Speaker 4: better situation. And you can't control injuries, like we had
- 19:57Speaker 4: a ton of arms that that weren't necessarily healthy, and
- 20:02Speaker 4: it's just you know what that that plagued us.
- 20:04Speaker 3: And and again is like, uh is a one is
- 20:08Speaker 3: a one is a one game? No?
- 20:11Speaker 4: Not in the playoff situation, where I feel like maybe
- 20:14Speaker 4: if it was like I don't know, but again, I
- 20:17Speaker 4: don't want to go down that rabbit hole because it's
- 20:20Speaker 4: again that's I it's not my choice, not my decision.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Yep, Hey, you might have a decision for the World
- 20:28Speaker 1: Baseball Classic. I haven't heard about you yet. I know
- 20:30Speaker 1: you played on the twenty three team. I remember Mookie
- 20:32Speaker 1: Betts was telling us how you had the best one liners,
- 20:34Speaker 1: like you were the funniest guy on the team, and
- 20:36Speaker 1: there were a lot of funny guys. So in addition
- 20:38Speaker 1: to what you can bring on the field and USA
- 20:41Speaker 1: trying to get a title back and all those pitchers joining,
- 20:44Speaker 1: do you have any news, had there been any conversations.
- 20:47Speaker 1: A lot of the other spots are filling up, but
- 20:48Speaker 1: first base is looking a little bit open.
- 20:51Speaker 4: I mean I haven't really, I really haven't had any cover.
- 20:56Speaker 4: I mean it was really brief with d Ro, like
- 20:58Speaker 4: is during the year last year. Because yeah, I mean,
- 21:01Speaker 4: I'd love to do it. I mean it's I mean,
- 21:03Speaker 4: it's a it's a sick tournament. It's a great event.
- 21:06Speaker 4: I think it's phenomenal for the sport. But yeah, they
- 21:10Speaker 4: haven't I mean that I haven't heard anything, but again,
- 21:13Speaker 4: love to do it. So yeah, Doro, if you want
- 21:15Speaker 4: to give me a call, it's fine, that'd be great.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Wow, first base wide open. D Ro call him.
- 21:22Speaker 6: I'm surprised you have your Did you change your number?
- 21:25Speaker 6: Because I know somebody changed their number last offseason, but
- 21:28Speaker 6: maybe they don't have your new number.
- 21:30Speaker 3: That's what it is that you know. That's probably right, Kratsy,
- 21:34Speaker 3: it's probably right.
- 21:35Speaker 1: If they watch this, I promise you that, so you
- 21:37Speaker 1: might get a phone call. But Krat's fenished strong for.
- 21:40Speaker 6: Us, all right, a strong one. But you went to
- 21:43Speaker 6: Florida Orange, went to the Mets Orange. How on earth
- 21:49Speaker 6: can you play Let's see, you're gonna be thirty five?
- 21:52Speaker 6: How can you play the last seventeen years in orange?
- 21:57Speaker 6: Some people go never, they never play an orange and
- 21:59Speaker 6: they look terrible and orange? How can you play in
- 22:03Speaker 6: orange for seventeen straight years?
- 22:06Speaker 5: You know what?
- 22:07Speaker 4: The baseball gods they had, Like, that's just the way
- 22:10Speaker 4: that the stars of a line, you know, I mean
- 22:12Speaker 4: the baseball gods.
- 22:13Speaker 3: That's just my journey and path.
- 22:16Speaker 4: Like, all right, you're gonna wear orange for a really
- 22:19Speaker 4: long time and that's fine, and that's okay.
- 22:23Speaker 6: Love it.
- 22:24Speaker 2: Yeah, Hey, it's great. It's easy.
- 22:26Speaker 1: You can just stick to one color for everything that
- 22:28Speaker 1: you have around life. You know, maybe if you've got
- 22:31Speaker 1: the man cave that you're decorating. We know what color
- 22:33Speaker 1: is going to be. The color scheme. It makes life
- 22:36Speaker 1: really easy on that front.
- 22:38Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I mean orange. It's it's a fun color.
- 22:43Speaker 4: And yeah, I mean it's just it just happens to
- 22:47Speaker 4: be a part of my uniform.
- 22:48Speaker 6: Yeah. Hey, one last thing, let's give four thumbs up
- 22:53Speaker 6: for the Orioles, all of us, all four of us
- 22:56Speaker 6: at one time.
- 22:57Speaker 3: It.
- 22:59Speaker 1: Come on, this is how you're to home run kids
- 23:01Speaker 1: without actually holding the bat. Come on, Todd, home run
- 23:07Speaker 1: without the bat. I'm gotta have one of those. Come on,
- 23:10Speaker 1: show us your superpower. Pete said, he's only coming on
- 23:14Speaker 1: if you show him a thumb on the way out.
- 23:16Speaker 5: Number one.
- 23:18Speaker 2: We're number one. Oh wow wow. Okay, we'll save it
- 23:22Speaker 2: for the.
- 23:24Speaker 5: Wait to wait to wait till I see you again.
- 23:26Speaker 2: Cratzy.
- 23:28Speaker 3: I love, I love. It's good heat. It's such good heat.
- 23:31Speaker 3: I love it. Pete.
- 23:34Speaker 2: Awesome to have you on here. Thank you for joining us.
- 23:36Speaker 1: We'll try and get Todd to give you a thumbs
- 23:38Speaker 1: up for the next conversation. Have a great holiday and
- 23:41Speaker 1: we'll talk to you.
- 23:41Speaker 2: We'll see you in spring.
- 23:43Speaker 4: Yes, yes, yes, Happy holidays, guys, Happy New Year's and
- 23:46Speaker 4: we'll see it camp.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Thank you sounds good that I appreciate you.
