- 0:10Speaker 1: routine shows us how they achieve their success little by little,
- 0:14Speaker 1: day after day. It's like banking with P and C Bank.
- 0:18Speaker 1: It might seem boring to save, plan and make calculated
- 0:21Speaker 1: decisions with your bank, but keeping your money boring is
- 0:24Speaker 1: what helps you live or more happily fulfilled life. P
- 0:27Speaker 1: and C Bank Brilliantly Boring since eighteen sixty five. Brilliantly

- 0:43Speaker 2: Well, let me ask you this because I feel like
- 0:47Speaker 2: there's a lesson in every story, and there's something that
- 0:51Speaker 2: you can take from every story and learn from every story.
- 0:55Speaker 2: And sometimes what we think is reality isn't reality. And
- 1:00Speaker 2: it's important for people to know the truth. And it's
- 1:02Speaker 2: important for people to learn from other people's experiences because
- 1:06Speaker 2: it could potentially happen to you. So a few years ago,
- 1:10Speaker 2: we had a former president, Donald Trump, and it was
- 1:13Speaker 2: very controversial when you took a picture with him, and
- 1:18Speaker 2: you got a lot of backlash, a lot of hate,
- 1:21Speaker 2: all conds of negative energy.
- 1:23Speaker 3: But when we met you, you explained to us the story.
- 1:27Speaker 2: And when you explain to us the story, it was
- 1:29Speaker 2: so crazy because it just goes to show you how
- 1:32Speaker 2: something can be changed and the narrative can be painted
- 1:35Speaker 2: and people just run with half of what they see
- 1:38Speaker 2: and they don't even understand it.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Can you explain that infamous moment?
- 1:44Speaker 4: Well, first of all, if I listened to my wife,
- 1:48Speaker 4: it wouldn't have been no infamous moment.
- 1:50Speaker 5: First lesson, that's the first lesson.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Lesson number one.
- 1:54Speaker 4: That's number one. But here's what happened. Before he got
- 2:00Speaker 4: I had sworn in. He had appointed Ben Carson to
- 2:05Speaker 4: the head of HUD, and HUD is housing in urban Development.
- 2:11Speaker 5: It's the only black on the cabinet.
- 2:14Speaker 4: So I said, let me go up there and meet
- 2:17Speaker 4: Ben Carson. So when I got to Trump Towers, I
- 2:22Speaker 4: went in, sat down to meet with him, and he said,
- 2:24Speaker 4: why are you here. I said, I want to meet
- 2:26Speaker 4: Ben Carson because I have an idea. He got Ben
- 2:30Speaker 4: Carson on the phone, being Ben Carson talked right away.
- 2:35Speaker 4: I told him the idea I had. I wanted to
- 2:37Speaker 4: take some of these schools that they had destroyed and
- 2:40Speaker 4: shut down in black neighborhoods, and I wanted to take
- 2:43Speaker 4: them and turn them into what I call Vision centers,
- 2:47Speaker 4: where we would create financial literacy after school programs, you know,
- 2:52Speaker 4: and get these young cats off the streets so they
- 2:55Speaker 4: have something to do, and then give the parents some
- 2:57Speaker 4: financial literacy. He fell in love with the idea. I
- 3:03Speaker 4: leave the building. I'm on the elevator. Donald Trump say
- 3:07Speaker 4: I'll ride down with you. I said, I beat damn.
- 3:13Speaker 4: So he gets on the elevator. He riding down with him. Now,
- 3:16Speaker 4: before I got on elevator, I told the reporters I'll
- 3:19Speaker 4: be back over and tell you why I'm here. I
- 3:22Speaker 4: walk up to the reporters. He walks in front of me.
- 3:25Speaker 4: He the president, to be right, So he walks.
- 3:28Speaker 5: In front of me. Now I'm standing there. First word
- 3:30Speaker 5: out his mouth.
- 3:31Speaker 4: Was we gonna repeal and replace Obamacare.
- 3:35Speaker 5: I didn't say shit about that. I didn't mention none
- 3:40Speaker 5: of that. Then, oh, what you're talking about? Man?
- 3:43Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying. I'm sitting here going I'll
- 3:45Speaker 4: beat damn. And all I heard was my wife going,
- 3:48Speaker 4: don't go up there yet. So when he left, I
- 3:53Speaker 4: stood up and told the reporters what the deal was.
- 3:57Speaker 4: By the time I got to my car, because this happen,
- 4:00Speaker 4: and on my sixtieth birthday was that weekend, my wife
- 4:04Speaker 4: had a nice trip for me. All I had to
- 4:07Speaker 4: do was go get on that damn boat, like she said,
- 4:09Speaker 4: That's all my ass had to do. But oh, knew
- 4:14Speaker 4: I'm gonna go up here for black people before.
- 4:17Speaker 5: I got in the car. I couldn't believe it. I
- 4:24Speaker 5: couldn't believe it.
- 4:25Speaker 4: Man. I was a coon, I was a jigaboot, I
- 4:30Speaker 4: was a spook. I was an Uncle Tom. And that
- 4:34Speaker 4: shit hurt me to the core because all I do
- 4:39Speaker 4: when I wake up is walk out the door as
- 4:42Speaker 4: a black man, to represent the black culture, to be
- 4:46Speaker 4: something that some young person can look at.
- 4:48Speaker 5: And go, yeah, I do it that way.
- 4:51Speaker 4: My whole hustling grind has been for black people.
- 4:54Speaker 5: And so it kind of hurt me.
- 4:56Speaker 3: Man.
- 4:57Speaker 5: And so his.
- 4:58Speaker 4: Fast forward turns out the Vision Centers was the only
- 5:04Speaker 4: initiative Ben Carson had his entire run. They changed the
- 5:09Speaker 4: name of it from Vision Centers to Vision Centers. You
- 5:14Speaker 4: can go online look them up. They opened up three
- 5:16Speaker 4: of them, all the ideas I had given them, they
- 5:21Speaker 4: enabled it. Then they asked me to come take a
- 5:23Speaker 4: picture with being Carson in front of the schools, and
- 5:27Speaker 4: I said na, because y'all had ate my ass up
- 5:30Speaker 4: so bad before. Y'all ain't getting no more pictures of me.
- 5:35Speaker 4: My family got attacked and all this here.
- 5:38Speaker 5: But that was a.
- 5:40Speaker 4: Hurtful moment for me because I went up there to
- 5:44Speaker 4: get housing and benefit for black people and then they
- 5:48Speaker 4: turned on me like that, you know, But I always
- 5:51Speaker 4: know how to hang in there. You know. It's kind
- 5:53Speaker 4: of like, I know it's a lot of hip hop
- 5:55Speaker 4: casts in here, but old school music still registers very
- 5:59Speaker 4: deep in my I'm an R and B guy. So
- 6:01Speaker 4: there's a song that Temptations had out, and I had
- 6:05Speaker 4: to sing it to myself. I know you won't leave me,
- 6:09Speaker 4: but I refuse to let you go. If I have
- 6:12Speaker 4: to beg and plead for your.
- 6:14Speaker 5: Sympathy, I don't mind, because you mean that much to me.
- 6:18Speaker 5: So I just hung in there with black people.
- 6:21Speaker 4: I just stayed in that with y'all's asked because I
- 6:23Speaker 4: knew eventually y'all was gonna have to get all right.
- 6:28Speaker 5: Well, some of y'all didn't. But it's cool though, But.
- 6:32Speaker 2: I want to ask you about that because when you
- 6:35Speaker 2: reach levels of success, especially now, you're gonna get some
- 6:38Speaker 2: level of hate online. You're gonna get some level of
- 6:42Speaker 2: hate on YouTube, You're gonna get critics, and it has
- 6:46Speaker 2: it has an effect on your on your psyche.
- 6:50Speaker 3: So how would you how would you coach people through?
- 6:53Speaker 2: What advice would you give to the young people that
- 6:55Speaker 2: haven't experienced that yet. But they might be in sports,
- 6:58Speaker 2: they might be in music, they might be entrepreneur, they
- 7:00Speaker 2: might be online at some point when that comes, what
- 7:04Speaker 2: do you do to just keep going?
- 7:06Speaker 4: It's interesting because I was talking to Walker Flocker backstage
- 7:10Speaker 4: and he came up to me and said, hey, man,
- 7:14Speaker 4: you don't know what you mean to me. I've never
- 7:16Speaker 4: met the brother before and he was saying, you don't
- 7:19Speaker 4: know what you mean to me.
- 7:20Speaker 5: He said, Man, I follow you. I listened to you. Man.
- 7:23Speaker 4: He said, man, you changed from just a comedian to
- 7:26Speaker 4: a real man, and you made me start looking at
- 7:29Speaker 4: some things I want to do. And then we shook hands.
- 7:31Speaker 4: He was fitting to walk away and he turned around.
- 7:33Speaker 4: He said, you know what else I like about you? Man?
- 7:37Speaker 4: You ain't vengeful. You're not vengeful. And that kind of
- 7:42Speaker 4: stuck with me, so I said, how you mean? He said, man,
- 7:45Speaker 4: you could come back at so many people. But I
- 7:47Speaker 4: don't never see you going out to attack people because
- 7:51Speaker 4: I learned a long time ago from a minister. He said,
- 7:55Speaker 4: stay on the wall. When they throwing rocks at you,
- 7:59Speaker 4: stay on wall. If you come down off the wall
- 8:03Speaker 4: to address haters and small people see they eye level
- 8:07Speaker 4: with you.
- 8:08Speaker 5: Now. Now they can.
- 8:09Speaker 4: Throw the rocks and they hurt. But if you just
- 8:11Speaker 4: stay on the wall, what can they do.
- 8:14Speaker 5: And you gotta.
- 8:14Speaker 4: Understand some young people about haters. Haters are not decision makers,
- 8:19Speaker 4: power brokers, or shakers and movers. They have no determining
- 8:23Speaker 4: factor on your life, where you headed, or what God
- 8:27Speaker 4: planned for you.
- 8:28Speaker 5: Stop giving haters power.
- 8:31Speaker 3: Stop it.
- 8:31Speaker 4: Don't even talk to they ass I don't give it. Look, man,
- 8:34Speaker 4: I'm sixty five. I don't give a damn what you
- 8:37Speaker 4: say about me.
- 8:39Speaker 5: You ain't.
- 8:40Speaker 4: You're not stopping nothing. Look what God has for you,
- 8:45Speaker 4: it is yours. All God's plans for you, his purpose.
- 8:50Speaker 4: If you just open up yourself to them, he gonna
- 8:53Speaker 4: make all of them come true. But if you stop
- 8:56Speaker 4: and keep addressing haters, you will never be open to
- 9:00Speaker 4: your purpose and your mission in life.
- 9:02Speaker 5: So my directive is to stay on the wall.
- 9:06Speaker 4: When they attacked me for whatever, I stay on the
- 9:09Speaker 4: wall because they do it all the time, man, especially people.
- 9:12Speaker 5: I thought I was cool with other celebrities.
- 9:15Speaker 4: You know, they got little stuff to say, But then
- 9:17Speaker 4: I look at their career and they.
- 9:19Speaker 5: Have time to say little stuff. They have time. See.
- 9:28Speaker 5: Let me tell you something, man, People is busy. They
- 9:30Speaker 5: ain't got time.
- 9:32Speaker 4: Denzel ain't got time talk about me, Magic.
- 9:35Speaker 5: Johnson ain't got time talking about Tyler Perry.
- 9:37Speaker 4: Ain't got time talk about me because they building their empire. Man,
- 9:42Speaker 4: let me tell you something, man. One time I was
- 9:44Speaker 4: sitting to respond to something on the blog. Tyler Perry
- 9:48Speaker 4: called me and said, hey, man, what you getting ready
- 9:50Speaker 4: to do. I said, I'm going on CNN with Anderson
- 9:53Speaker 4: Cooper and I'm straighten this whole thing out in them blogs.
- 9:57Speaker 5: He said, no, you're not. He said.
- 9:59Speaker 4: You know why, He said, listen to me, Steve. When
- 10:02Speaker 4: they talk about you, it's a blog. If you open
- 10:06Speaker 4: your mouth, it's a press conference. You got to know
- 10:10Speaker 4: who you are. So I say to all people out there,
- 10:14Speaker 4: know who you are and know where God taking you.
- 10:17Speaker 5: Get up on the wall and stay there. That's powerful Erness.
- 10:28Speaker 5: What's up?
