- 0:31What's up, buddy? You know, just pacing around the house. Yeah.
- 0:35Do some chores while I'm pacing.
- 0:36And that's okay. That's what I wanted to talk to you about. You know,
- 0:39as two dads, one father of a father of two, which is one is,
- 0:44we're going to do our sons here.
- 0:46So my son is three, going to be four, and yours is?
- 0:50He's 18, going to be 19 here in about February 18th. Oh, that's right.
- 0:54And look at that. My son's going to be four on January 22nd.
- 0:59Oh, my. 24th. Oh, my God. I was going to say, that's tomorrow.
- 1:02It's, yeah, January 24th, 24th, 2022.
- 1:05That was his date of birth. That's what throws me off. Gotcha.
- 1:07So welcome in, Tabby. We're doing a live episode on Half Faith.
- 1:10Let it begin with our good friend, DJ Greg. And we're talking about fathers and nostalgia.
- 1:14Tell me right now, what is the hardest part? Because only you can answer this,
- 1:18Greg. What is the hardest part right now about being a dad to an 18-year-old?
- 1:23Oh, worrying about where he is, what he's doing.
- 1:27That is probably the hardest part right now. I actually just texted him about
- 1:3030 minutes ago because me and my ex-wife, we split custody every other week.
- 1:36And he hasn't been over in a couple of weeks.
- 1:38It's because he's staying with
- 1:40his friends. You know, he's trying to learn that life as an 18-year-old.
- 1:43He's, I guess, helping his friends pay rent. And I have more power to him.
- 1:48I applaud him for that, to be honest.
- 1:51Yeah, of course. And we're seeing comments below.
- 1:54Tabby's involved there. She says their decision-making. I'll have to agree with that.
- 1:58I can't say that with a three-year-old, but I will say the decision-making of
- 2:03oatmeal or oatmeal is usually the choice. And he wins every time.
- 2:08I will say I lucked out here recently because he just got it.
- 2:12All right. So he's going to college for automotive stuff. And he got a great
- 2:16job here about six to seven months ago.
- 2:19And he absolutely loves it. Like he literally works over a hundred,
- 2:22not a hundred, over 80 hours a week. Okay. He absolutely loves it.
- 2:26And when I go to my, you know, when I go to his grandfather, my dad, we go eat.
- 2:31He just explains about what he does to cars and he absolutely loves it.
- 2:35And it's just, I love seeing that work ethic.
- 2:37See, and what we're going to do is, you know, we'll have to wait to get approval.
- 2:41But if we can get approval where he works, maybe we can do something along the
- 2:45lines of saying, hey, you know, get some good feedback for him.
- 2:49Let's get some great, uh, you know, uh, what do you call it?
- 2:52Uh, reviews for him so that he continues.
- 2:55That'd be awesome. We have to do that five. Look, I have a five-year-old tabby
- 2:58says a 17 year old and a 26 year old.
- 3:01Oh man. Now are they all boys tabby? We have to ask her. Cause that's crazy.
- 3:06Five, 17 and 26. Wow.
- 3:10That's a spread. Yeah. Right. I mean, think about it. The five-year-old probably
- 3:15doesn't know what time five kids. Yeah.
- 3:19Holy. Oh my goodness, Debbie. We should have just put her on the show with us.
- 3:29I'm over here. I'm complaining about two children. You got one successful.
- 3:33Oh, keep them busy. Successful.
- 3:35God bless. That is crazy. All right. So walk me down your path as far as you're
- 3:42in, you're in a transition period right now, right?
- 3:43So for those of you don't know, Greg and I, we met on TikTok.
- 3:46My son was getting sick. Well, we thought we were sick. I was on TikTok because
- 3:51I went into DJ Greg's live.
- 3:53He is basically an entertainer, I like to call him, but an influencer.
- 4:01I don't like to use the word influencer because it's thrown around so negatively. You didn't say DJ.
- 4:04No, I didn't. I didn't. You're an entertainer. We call him DJ Greg because he plays the ones and twos.
- 4:09We know that term in New York. That means he just keeps playing over and over and over again.
- 4:14So he stopped his live because he heard that my son needed to be prayed over
- 4:19and he prayed, oh, thank you.
- 4:21He prayed over our live and we became friends ever since.
- 4:26So I guess what I want to say to you is Greg, you're on a new journey.
- 4:31We're trying to get Greg onto voiceovers. As you heard, he did a great job on our introduction.
- 4:36With this new transition period as dads, I'll be more than happy to go first.
- 4:40That way I don't keep throwing that. Yeah.
- 4:42You know, you get to that age where you're like, okay, what can I do to make
- 4:48this, you know, this child or children, um, understand that,
- 4:53that life's not going to be easy, right?
- 4:55It's, it's a challenge. It's a struggle, but you got to keep motivation.
- 4:59So for me, um, because they're little, I'm constantly reminding them the rights and wrongs.
- 5:05I'm constantly reminding them of, of what not to do, but more importantly,
- 5:09what manners is all about.
- 5:11I mean, where would you stand right now? I mean, are you still doing that?
- 5:16You're always teaching, right?
- 5:18Yeah, I mean, I agree with you completely. I'm so lucky that we,
- 5:21you know, we had a, you know, we were married and we had a household all the
- 5:27way up until he was 15. And we got to teach him, you know, what we thought was right and wrong.
- 5:31And he learned from that. And like I said, he has a great work ethic. Yeah.
- 5:36But, you know, he's seen the bumps and bruises both, you know,
- 5:41me and her, his mom have gone through.
- 5:43And he's also learned from that as well. So, and he has a little girlfriend too.
- 5:48So, oh no, that's like, they've been together for like over a year now and they're doing good.
- 5:54I'm worried about that. I imagine he's probably not like wanting to be like
- 5:56his mom and dad, but it didn't end horribly. We were still co-parenting.
- 6:01So, oh yeah, but that's a mile, mile and a half from me. So it's a maturity
- 6:04of it. It's a maturity level.
- 6:05And I think that that's something that you, you know, I think that he's learned
- 6:08a lot in his 18 years. I will say that.
- 6:10Yeah. Well, listen, you know, you went through the scars, right?
- 6:13I did an episode not too long ago about scars and how they do heal.
- 6:17Listen, we've all had our hearts broken as men. We can only speak about our
- 6:21side of it. But at the end of the day, we get back up. We have no other choice
- 6:24because we have children.
- 6:25And we have to do our best to put our foots forward.
- 6:28But more importantly, we got to do what's best for us too. It's about us too.
- 6:34Yeah, exactly. I couldn't agree more. It's hard. What do you think is the hardest
- 6:39part about being a dad? I can, poof.
- 6:43Making good decisions on my own.
- 6:47Being a single man. Yeah. You know, I mean, I had a corporate job twice,
- 6:51the same job twice, and guess what I did? I removed myself twice.
- 6:56Because, I mean, I think to now, I still regret the decision,
- 7:00even if it was November 4th was the last time I worked there.
- 7:04But yeah but you know what but you know what though greg you
- 7:06may have had it made but i think we talked about this offline and we can
- 7:09definitely explore this one other episode it's about
- 7:12environment your environment was if i'm correct was not a good environment for
- 7:16you and it wasn't healthy so sometimes yeah sometimes you gotta sometimes you
- 7:22have to make a decision based on your health and i think that i think you removed
- 7:27yourself the in a way where it caused you not to have a mental, uh.
- 7:32Breakdown, so to speak.
- 7:34I've been there. I have been there and I have pushed myself out of an environment.
- 7:38I was a banker for two years and I really liked banking.
- 7:42I do miss it, but there was an environment that just drove me up the wall.
- 7:47They wanted me to lie. They wanted me to do this and that. And my,
- 7:49one of my coworkers made me feel like, like crap.
- 7:51And it was like, I can't do this. So I just removed myself. I regret it.
- 7:56Yeah. I mean, I couldn't agree more. I mean, at the time, all I could think
- 8:00about was life is short. Life is too short for this.
- 8:03Like, why am I doing this to myself every day? Yeah, definitely.
- 8:08I'm waking up on a Monday morning and not liking what I do.
- 8:11Yes. That's how I looked at it. And I looked at it for a while.
- 8:14My dad even saw it coming. He was like, did you quit yet? And I said,
- 8:17you know what, dad? He called it. And I did.
- 8:19Well, parents know, right? But we can't do it for ourselves when we are parenting our children.
- 8:24But when it comes to us, our parents know still, even to this stage, what we did.
- 8:29Isn't that weird? It's so weird. It is weird. I don't get it.
- 8:33I didn't even plan to tell him until during our Thanksgiving vacation who we had with him.
- 8:38And he asked me right before, and I was like, oh my gosh, please don't discuss
- 8:41this over the whole family. Listen, it's called Parenting Radar.
- 8:45Yeah, exactly. So what did he say? He just was like, he was like,
- 8:50yeah, I mean, he literally said, so did you quit yet?
- 8:52And that was the last thing he said before we got off the phone.
- 8:54I said, dad, I started giggling. He said, yeah, you did, didn't you?
- 8:57I was like, uh, maybe, yeah, let's not talk about it though.
- 9:00Maybe after Thanksgiving.
- 9:03That's, that's what you got to do. Well, you know, he kept that promise. He kept that promise.
- 9:07And that's key. That's key. So this is a new segment. We're calling this the dads.
- 9:12And every once in a while, we're going to bring DJ Greg back in.
- 9:15We call him DJ Greg again because he knows how to spin the ones and twos and
- 9:20he's a great entertainer.
- 9:21Now, if you are an amazing TikToker follower, if you want to be entertained
- 9:26by an influencer, if you want to be a part of a family, I suggest you find him. It's DJ Greg.
- 9:35And we're going to put his link in our description page.
- 9:38We're going to put a picture in his bio. We are encouraging you to stop by.
- 9:43And if he doesn't know who you are, tell him.
- 9:44You heard him on Half Faith. Let it begin. Tell him that you would like to be
- 9:48a part of his family. And I'm telling you, he'll let you in.
- 9:52Greg, always a pleasure. A lot of people don't know this, but Greg was,
- 9:55at last second, I said, we're going to record.
- 10:00And I said, by the way, you're also doing the intro. So Greg did not know.
- 10:03And I wanted him to feel uncomfortable because I wanted him to come out of his
- 10:07comfort level, which is important. I heard myself break up during the intro,
- 10:12so I hope. No, who cares? I loved it. That's all that matters.
- 10:15I liked it. So with that being said, everybody, we're going to do a quick prayer
- 10:19because Greg's going to be seeing his pops tomorrow and that'll be around 1.30 Eastern Standard Time.
- 10:25This is what I want all the Half-Faith Let It Begin people to do.
- 10:27Tomorrow at 1.15 PM Eastern Standard Time, we are all going to stop and we're
- 10:34going to pray that Greg's luncheon will go successful,
- 10:39will be peaceful, will be enjoyable for the two of them.
- 10:43And we want all dads out there to get along with their pops, with their moms.
- 10:47And we are hoping that each and every one of you will help out and follow us
- 10:52on this new series called The Dads.
- 10:54It'll be starring myself and
- 10:56DJ Greg. And guess what? We're inviting all dads. All dads are welcome.
- 11:00But right now we're running the ones in twos because it's DJ Greg.
- 11:03With that being said, God be with you.
- 11:06Don't forget, God loves you. Don't forget that DJ Greg is here.
- 11:10I'm here. And we'll see you next time On behalf of all of us Never forget Have faith.
- 11:19That's it We'll talk to you soon.
