- 0:00Speaker 1: Family owned and operated since nineteen seventy two. Stepcheck Service
- 0:04Speaker 1: Center twenty two hundred longmyre just down from the post
- 0:07Speaker 1: office in College Station Day.
- 0:12Speaker 2: All right, we're going to start off the a little
- 0:17Speaker 2: bit of the shortened show with the baseball game coming
- 0:20Speaker 2: your way, but lots of aggie baseball.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Get you ready.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Michael Early met with the media yesterday, and let's hear
- 0:29Speaker 2: a little bit about what he had to say.
- 0:32Speaker 4: Coach, with a lot of stuff.
- 0:34Speaker 5: That stayed this weekend and including.
- 0:35Speaker 6: National seeds and RPI and even standing in the SNC Tournament,
- 0:40Speaker 6: how do you guys just maintain your focus and just
- 0:42Speaker 6: take it one game at a time against a.
- 0:44Speaker 7: Really we've never talked about it the entire year. We've
- 0:49Speaker 7: never talked about our standing. We've never talked about the postseason.
- 0:52Speaker 7: We've never talked about any of that. We just talked
- 0:54Speaker 7: about each game. It's not cliche, Coach, Socket just well,
- 0:58Speaker 7: that's never come out of my mind to them, and
- 1:01Speaker 7: it won't just like every series. Yeah, you might say
- 1:06Speaker 7: this one's for a national seed, but why was why
- 1:09Speaker 7: was not you know, grabbing that third game against Georgia
- 1:12Speaker 7: or fighting out to be you know what I mean?
- 1:14Speaker 7: So it's just again back to every you don't know
- 1:16Speaker 7: which one it is or what's going to put you
- 1:18Speaker 7: over the top in any situation. So whatever happens this week,
- 1:22Speaker 7: and we have a really good team, we're gonna maintain
- 1:25Speaker 7: our focus on pitch by pitch, game by game, and
- 1:27Speaker 7: that's that's the truth of it.
- 1:29Speaker 4: How much do you, you know, look at that stuff.
- 1:31Speaker 8: You know behind closed doors when you're in your office,
- 1:33Speaker 8: and how what do you guys think about your standing.
- 1:36Speaker 4: At least right now?
- 1:37Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean I gotta have some awareness of it,
- 1:39Speaker 7: right like if you ask me this question in the
- 1:40Speaker 7: middle of the year, like that truthful answer is like
- 1:42Speaker 7: I have no idea because I don't. But as it
- 1:44Speaker 7: gets to this point, there's there's parts of this job
- 1:46Speaker 7: where you have to make sure you guys see what
- 1:48Speaker 7: positioning your team's in and and do things possible to
- 1:50Speaker 7: put them in a better position. So yeah, I mean,
- 1:54Speaker 7: I don't think you can argue with what we've done
- 1:56Speaker 7: this season for sure. I mean we have you know,
- 1:59Speaker 7: was it too not conference losses? I mean currently second
- 2:02Speaker 7: in the SEC. Sixteen SEC wins against some really quality
- 2:06Speaker 7: opponents at home, proven the ability to win on the
- 2:10Speaker 7: road proven the ability to win in a lot of
- 2:12Speaker 7: different ways. I think we've put ourselves in a great spot.
- 2:16Speaker 7: So I'm super proud of our guys for that. And yeah,
- 2:20Speaker 7: we are we want to take care of businesses weekend,
- 2:22Speaker 7: but we feel like we've got a pretty pretty dangerous
- 2:24Speaker 7: team that can can can win anywhere, anytime, any place,
- 2:29Speaker 7: and we've shown them.
- 2:30Speaker 5: Can you talk about Ben's performance this last week?
- 2:33Speaker 9: Have you, in all your coaching experience, have you ever
- 2:37Speaker 9: seen a guy come called off the bench and have that.
- 2:39Speaker 5: Kind of day.
- 2:40Speaker 7: I don't know if, I mean, I can't remember ever
- 2:43Speaker 7: having anyone have that kind of day period like a coach,
- 2:47Speaker 7: some really good players, some first round picks, some all Americans.
- 2:49Speaker 7: I've never quite seen a day like that. And when
- 2:52Speaker 7: you kind of peel back the day too, I believe
- 2:55Speaker 7: you know, six of those hits and three of those
- 2:57Speaker 7: owners are all with two strikes in a weekend where
- 3:00Speaker 7: we weren't very good with that. So no, I mean,
- 3:03Speaker 7: the difficulty level of it is can't be can't be
- 3:08Speaker 7: overstated from the standpoint that the guy hasn't played much
- 3:12Speaker 7: and it's not like it's not like basketball or a
- 3:15Speaker 7: wide receiver. It's a completely completely different games. So it
- 3:20Speaker 7: was for a single day performance, it's a by far,
- 3:25Speaker 7: by far, the best performance I've ever seen for a
- 3:27Speaker 7: lot of a lot of different factors, and I mean
- 3:30Speaker 7: just was it was.
- 3:32Speaker 10: It was fun to watch.
- 3:33Speaker 8: Sure, what can you say about your middle infield group
- 3:36Speaker 8: with what they've had to do and shuffle throughout the
- 3:39Speaker 8: entire season with injuries and stuff.
- 3:40Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean you got a guy like basically they've
- 3:43Speaker 7: got a guy who's playing on one leg, but a
- 3:45Speaker 7: guy with a broken face, a guy that slips on
- 3:49Speaker 7: the dirt and somehow you need to pull his hamstring
- 3:52Speaker 7: running right, he just like slipped awkwardly, and you know,
- 3:56Speaker 7: so we we need guys to come in there and play,
- 3:58Speaker 7: and Royo did great. So I feel great about it
- 4:02Speaker 7: because those are our guys and they're tough.
- 4:05Speaker 10: They're tough, and we just.
- 4:06Speaker 7: Gotta we gotta get him back full go. But even
- 4:10Speaker 7: you know, even at not full go, like run away
- 4:12Speaker 7: from winning a series.
- 4:13Speaker 10: So it's just because we've got a tough, resilient group.
- 4:16Speaker 11: Sure, it's hard to match a seven for seven type day,
- 4:18Speaker 11: but just what what do you think Royo can really
- 4:20Speaker 11: take from that kind of doubting that that if he's
- 4:23Speaker 11: gonna be a guy that you are going to need
- 4:24Speaker 11: to depend on as Boston gets better.
- 4:27Speaker 10: I mean, he's still got out one time on the weekend.
- 4:31Speaker 7: So if that can't, if that doesn't lead to a
- 4:33Speaker 7: ton of confidence and feeling like you're a really good player,
- 4:36Speaker 7: I don't know what else can.
- 4:37Speaker 12: So.
- 4:37Speaker 7: I mean, he not only did that, he played well
- 4:39Speaker 7: on defense, and I think it's when he got the
- 4:41Speaker 7: hits and yeah, man, like he's that was great, like
- 4:45Speaker 7: one of the most again, one of the most phenomenal performance,
- 4:47Speaker 7: if not the most.
- 4:48Speaker 10: It was the best performance I'd ever seen a single day.
- 4:50Speaker 7: So he should really take something from that because I
- 4:53Speaker 7: don't know how many people have ever done that.
- 4:55Speaker 13: It's balance with it.
- 4:56Speaker 11: He was a guy that played a lot last season,
- 4:58Speaker 11: hasn't played a lot this year. Just what have you
- 5:00Speaker 11: seen from him throughout this season that maybe he was
- 5:03Speaker 11: ready for that moment when his name was called.
- 5:05Speaker 7: I think, I mean the one thing I definitely know
- 5:07Speaker 7: he's been he's been a good teammate the entire time.
- 5:10Speaker 7: He's never never been an issue. Never had honestly one
- 5:14Speaker 7: single you know, off the field or in the dugout
- 5:16Speaker 7: problem with him. And again, we facilitate things for these
- 5:20Speaker 7: guys to stay ready and a big part of it
- 5:22Speaker 7: is their job to stay ready. And how you stay
- 5:25Speaker 7: ready is different for every guy. So for him, it's
- 5:29Speaker 7: pretty evident that he did that, you know.
- 5:31Speaker 8: The Travis's question, the injuries and kind of just the
- 5:33Speaker 8: way you set up the lineup later in the season.
- 5:35Speaker 5: Attrition happens, wherein tear happens. Do you adjust at all.
- 5:38Speaker 8: Like the week, the week preparation and practice wise, the
- 5:40Speaker 8: kind of keep them at their best.
- 5:41Speaker 4: On game day lad in the year?
- 5:42Speaker 10: Oh yeah for sure.
- 5:43Speaker 7: And I mean wear and tear and attrition happens. The
- 5:46Speaker 7: broken bones part is just something that's we can't account for,
- 5:50Speaker 7: but yeah, for sure, I mean we there's definitely we
- 5:53Speaker 7: do things to keep them off their feet to try
- 5:55Speaker 7: to freshen them up.
- 5:57Speaker 10: It was just like this week, like you know, we
- 5:59Speaker 10: got travel day on Sunday.
- 6:01Speaker 7: It's not travel days aren't great off days, right because
- 6:05Speaker 7: you're traveling on the butt. We had an hour bus
- 6:07Speaker 7: trip then a plane ride, so they were off on Monday.
- 6:11Speaker 7: There's some guys in here hitting in the cage pictures
- 6:13Speaker 7: do and throwing program and just you know, you do
- 6:16Speaker 7: your best to you balance what you need to do
- 6:19Speaker 7: to prepare. It's like yesterday, like we had some hitting
- 6:22Speaker 7: stuff to go over, stuff we've done, and we met
- 6:26Speaker 7: on it and we talked about it.
- 6:27Speaker 10: Right, Like, sometimes.
- 6:29Speaker 7: Drilling them to death is not the best answer, So
- 6:31Speaker 7: we met about it. We talked about it even last week.
- 6:35Speaker 7: We start every practice, we stretch them, we go right
- 6:38Speaker 7: to base running. Well, we did our base running. We
- 6:41Speaker 7: did like a ten to fifteen minute video session on
- 6:44Speaker 7: the base running instead of actually.
- 6:46Speaker 10: The act of doing it.
- 6:47Speaker 7: So you do little things as much as you can,
- 6:50Speaker 7: just maybe give them that extra percent they might need.
- 6:53Speaker 8: How he is Boston progressing and is there a timetable
- 6:55Speaker 8: for a return?
- 6:57Speaker 10: You know, I don't know he's progressing. Well, I saw
- 7:00Speaker 10: him this morning.
- 7:00Speaker 7: He can see and I know I said earlier on Texas,
- 7:03Speaker 7: I want.
- 7:03Speaker 10: To be shocked if he played.
- 7:05Speaker 7: That's just me speaking on the fact that his toughness
- 7:09Speaker 7: is something I mean, it's it's unbelievable.
- 7:11Speaker 10: So I want to be shocked if he played.
- 7:13Speaker 7: But at the same time, if he doesn't, I don't
- 7:16Speaker 7: think anyone should think any different, you know what I mean, Like.
- 7:18Speaker 10: It's it's a tough deal. So we got to be
- 7:19Speaker 10: smart with him. Looks great.
- 7:22Speaker 7: I did our front toss routine with him yesterday where
- 7:26Speaker 7: it hits from some different angles and guy sent.
- 7:28Speaker 10: Down thrown to him.
- 7:31Speaker 7: There's no difference in his hitting right, But he wasn't
- 7:34Speaker 7: He wasn't taking ground.
- 7:35Speaker 10: Balls or anything like that.
- 7:37Speaker 7: So could you see him this weekend? Sure wouldn't shocked me.
- 7:42Speaker 7: If you didn't see him this weekend, it wouldn't shock
- 7:44Speaker 7: me either. It really is kind of like a I
- 7:47Speaker 7: think a half a day by half a day progression,
- 7:49Speaker 7: just kind of seeing where he's at.
- 7:50Speaker 14: Is there anything.
- 7:51Speaker 15: Progressions, how our Nico and the Christ he is to
- 7:56Speaker 15: get closer?
- 7:56Speaker 10: Closer Chris.
- 7:58Speaker 7: The thing with Chris, it's like it's hard for him
- 8:01Speaker 7: to heal when he's on it right, So every time
- 8:05Speaker 7: he runs, every time he hits a double or even
- 8:08Speaker 7: a home run running around the bases, his progression kind
- 8:11Speaker 7: of goes up and then slightly back down. So it's
- 8:15Speaker 7: kind of just day to day, week to week by
- 8:18Speaker 7: how he gets better, because he'll get better and then
- 8:19Speaker 7: he you're only gonna get better on that by not
- 8:23Speaker 7: being on it, like period, and.
- 8:26Speaker 10: He wants to play and we don't have the luxury
- 8:28Speaker 10: of him not playing.
- 8:29Speaker 7: As far as Nico, he's been jogging around and doing
- 8:31Speaker 7: some stuff.
- 8:33Speaker 10: We'll see about him this weekend.
- 8:34Speaker 7: But again, we got to be smart, right like you said,
- 8:37Speaker 7: there there's there's a lot at steak, but there's there's
- 8:40Speaker 7: there's also larger things at stake, you know, moving forward.
- 8:43Speaker 10: So it's it's a balance of.
- 8:45Speaker 7: Having him ready when we need him, because we don't
- 8:48Speaker 7: want to lose him again all.
- 8:50Speaker 8: More costly is he is there any restrictions on it
- 8:52Speaker 8: if he can only hit only field?
- 8:54Speaker 10: Where is he be clear to you both when he
- 8:57Speaker 10: can play? He can play?
- 8:58Speaker 11: Yeah, help thought about putting any kind of like mask
- 9:00Speaker 11: over his helmet just to protect the eye.
- 9:02Speaker 10: I think we have to. Yeah, that's what we were
- 9:03Speaker 10: talking about yesterday.
- 9:04Speaker 7: You have to you gotta do some unique stuff in
- 9:07Speaker 7: this situation because definitely don't you know, say, kind of
- 9:12Speaker 7: dodge a bullet without a concussion and needing surgery.
- 9:15Speaker 10: I don't think you want to get hit there again.
- 9:18Speaker 8: And then when it comes to pitching rotation, what he's
- 9:21Speaker 8: thinking goes were getting controlled this week?
- 9:24Speaker 7: Yeah, So we'll go Darden on Friday again and then
- 9:30Speaker 7: Sims will not start this weekend, he you know, he's
- 9:34Speaker 7: had some tightness and it's kind of we just think
- 9:37Speaker 7: you need some rest. We need some rest, so we're
- 9:38Speaker 7: getting full go for the for the postseason. So Sims
- 9:42Speaker 7: will not make his start this weekend just due to like,
- 9:46Speaker 7: you know, he's tight and we need to make sure
- 9:49Speaker 7: he's ready to go for the long haul.
- 9:51Speaker 4: Is that part of the reason only through we three
- 9:53Speaker 4: innings last weekend?
- 9:55Speaker 7: I think partly like you just looked a little tired,
- 9:57Speaker 7: little gassed, and you know, it was just all so
- 10:00Speaker 7: from a pitching standpoint, it looked like the right time
- 10:01Speaker 7: to make the move.
- 10:03Speaker 4: Surreal TVA the last two.
- 10:04Speaker 10: Games though, Yeah, yep, Darden TVA TVA.
- 10:08Speaker 11: What'd you see from Darden in his start but that
- 10:11Speaker 11: he liked and what you hope he's can.
- 10:13Speaker 7: I think what I saw that I liked is he
- 10:17Speaker 7: wasn't at his best. He gave up two runs, had
- 10:21Speaker 7: some traffic, but he got out of it. And I
- 10:23Speaker 7: think the part that's encouraging for me is he got
- 10:26Speaker 7: that out of the way, he got his feet wet,
- 10:28Speaker 7: and I think he's gonna I know, he's gonna pitch
- 10:30Speaker 7: a lot better than that.
- 10:31Speaker 10: So what I liked, is like what I.
- 10:33Speaker 7: Think we're gonna see moving forward. He got thrown out
- 10:36Speaker 7: there for the first time on our team. He's done
- 10:38Speaker 7: it before obviously at Clemson. But I like the fact
- 10:41Speaker 7: that he wasn't his best at all compete his way
- 10:44Speaker 7: through that.
- 10:44Speaker 10: That's if you look.
- 10:45Speaker 7: I think that Basis loaded twice or at least once
- 10:47Speaker 7: in traffic and he got out of him.
- 10:49Speaker 4: How about Shane, how'd you think he handled that? Molten?
- 10:51Speaker 7: Oh, they did a great, great job. I mean came in,
- 10:54Speaker 7: He's handled everything awesome the entire year. So I wasn't
- 10:57Speaker 7: I wasn't shocked. It's just kind of a change of
- 11:00Speaker 7: for him.
- 11:00Speaker 4: And he pitched.
- 11:01Speaker 11: Well, what do you what do you see for Mississippi State?
- 11:04Speaker 4: I don't think we've asked you about what are you
- 11:05Speaker 4: going to see from that?
- 11:06Speaker 7: Extremely again, just like extremely tough team. Tough team, I
- 11:10Speaker 7: mean really good pitching that.
- 11:11Speaker 10: Can really hit. Yeah, I mean they're they're good. They're good.
- 11:15Speaker 7: Is I think they're all bunched up in that same
- 11:18Speaker 7: area where we're all kind of, you know, similar teams.
- 11:21Speaker 7: Some of us have some similarities some differences, But I'm
- 11:24Speaker 7: just a freaking really good baseball team. And we're again,
- 11:27Speaker 7: once again gonna have our hands full, and it's these
- 11:30Speaker 7: series are probably gonna come down to a player two.
- 11:32Speaker 13: That's just what it is.
- 11:33Speaker 10: You don't know which one it is.
- 11:34Speaker 4: You ever played an O'Connor team before.
- 11:36Speaker 8: No, I believe I'll do be doing senior celebrations this weekend.
- 11:41Speaker 5: What does it mean to celebrate those.
- 11:43Speaker 7: Guys, ton, I mean, it's it's definitely different, right because
- 11:46Speaker 7: you have some seniors that have been here for a year,
- 11:48Speaker 7: some guys that have been here for for a long time,
- 11:51Speaker 7: and there's some guys on the team that did Senior
- 11:54Speaker 7: Day last year.
- 11:55Speaker 10: I don't know if they're doing it this year or not.
- 11:56Speaker 10: And then it's a.
- 11:59Speaker 7: It's awesome and it kind of sucks at the same time,
- 12:02Speaker 7: Like you spend so much time with these guys and
- 12:04Speaker 7: you get to know them and they don't know when
- 12:07Speaker 7: they walk in here, whenever they walk in here.
- 12:08Speaker 10: But this this stuff goes by quick.
- 12:10Speaker 7: And it's not just them too. I mean, we got
- 12:12Speaker 7: some every year this team. We have guys that don't
- 12:15Speaker 7: get to celebrate Senior Day because they're they're junior drafts.
- 12:18Speaker 10: But you never do that, right, you never.
- 12:21Speaker 7: But yeah, it's it's awesome and it's not awesome at
- 12:24Speaker 7: the same time, and it's you know, for them. I
- 12:26Speaker 7: hope they look back at their time here and then
- 12:29Speaker 7: hopefully I think everyone that goes to text a and
- 12:31Speaker 7: m it changes. It changes your life in one way
- 12:34Speaker 7: or another.
- 12:35Speaker 4: All right.
- 12:35Speaker 2: That's the coach of the Aggies on the series starting
- 12:41Speaker 2: this evening against six. Last weekend, Ben Royo subbing had
- 12:49Speaker 2: as early was saying a game for the Ages seven
- 12:54Speaker 2: for seven, three home runs.
- 12:57Speaker 16: He was pretty good.
- 13:01Speaker 2: I mean, that's a career in sub cases. And Royo
- 13:07Speaker 2: spoke yesterday to the media, so as.
- 13:12Speaker 11: Black Coffee went did a seven for seven day last Saturday.
- 13:15Speaker 10: Yep, black coffee seven days a week. So that's part of.
- 13:17Speaker 13: It for sure.
- 13:18Speaker 4: You know, take us through that day.
- 13:20Speaker 11: You know what was kind of your Obviously you came
- 13:22Speaker 11: in and kind of like a tough situation losing a guy.
- 13:24Speaker 4: But what do you think allows you to have the
- 13:27Speaker 4: day you did?
- 13:28Speaker 15: I think just to be myself and just be relaxed,
- 13:30Speaker 15: you know, being a senior, you've been in those positions before,
- 13:32Speaker 15: just like last year, So just going out there and
- 13:35Speaker 15: having fun and not making the moment too big, and
- 13:39Speaker 15: you don't have.
- 13:39Speaker 13: To do anything more.
- 13:40Speaker 15: I mean, obviously I had a crazy day, right, but
- 13:42Speaker 15: really just had to play good defense and have quality
- 13:44Speaker 15: of bats and turned into a really good day.
- 13:46Speaker 4: What's this year been like for you?
- 13:47Speaker 11: You played a lot last year, haven't had a lot
- 13:49Speaker 11: of opportunities this year, and just have you maybe tried
- 13:52Speaker 11: to persevere through some of that.
- 13:53Speaker 15: Yeah, I mean it's definitely tough. Obviously you want to
- 13:55Speaker 15: be on the field and you want to play and stuff.
- 13:57Speaker 15: But we got a good group of young guys, and
- 13:59Speaker 15: so I've actually you know, having their role of helping
- 14:01Speaker 15: those guys develop and they do a really good job.
- 14:03Speaker 15: They ask a lot of questions. So just being able
- 14:05Speaker 15: to help those guys and stuff, as I've actually really
- 14:07Speaker 15: enjoyed that part.
- 14:08Speaker 8: What's the not even really middling, but kind of Enfield
- 14:11Speaker 8: group dynamic? Like conversation's arment because it seems like they
- 14:15Speaker 8: all have all had to be called on at different
- 14:17Speaker 8: times and everybody seemed to really step up.
- 14:19Speaker 15: Yeah, I mean, yeah, Ironfield has moved around a lot
- 14:21Speaker 15: just from injuries, you know, whatever it is.
- 14:23Speaker 10: But we got a good group of guys.
- 14:25Speaker 15: We all hang out a lot together and we mesh
- 14:27Speaker 15: really well, so it's all it's super easy to play
- 14:29Speaker 15: with when you got guys like that and nobody's egos
- 14:32Speaker 15: ahead of anybody and just everyone's just out there trying
- 14:34Speaker 15: to do their job and whatever position we're playing or
- 14:36Speaker 15: whatever it is, it just makes it a lot easier.
- 14:38Speaker 8: How bad it's a Boston sign.
- 14:41Speaker 15: No, he's actually doing a lot better. I think his
- 14:42Speaker 15: eyes today's part of the first day I've seen it
- 14:44Speaker 15: like fully open. I mean, obviously it's bruised up and
- 14:46Speaker 15: it's pretty black and stuff, but it's fully open and
- 14:48Speaker 15: he's been taking reps and stuff, so it's it's moving
- 14:50Speaker 15: along a lot faster than I thought.
- 14:52Speaker 8: Yeah, had you seen anything like that before?
- 14:54Speaker 15: No, I have not seen anything like that before. Obviously
- 14:56Speaker 15: Chris got hit in the face in the teeth, but
- 14:59Speaker 15: two in a see and is is insane.
- 15:01Speaker 10: I've never seen that.
- 15:02Speaker 17: Know.
- 15:04Speaker 9: So there's an infamous scene you probably hate myself, but
- 15:08Speaker 9: Michael Jordan can't miss a three porter in the final Yeah,
- 15:11Speaker 9: and he goes back up the up the court and.
- 15:14Speaker 5: The did you kind of feel like that the other day?
- 15:17Speaker 13: Yeah?
- 15:18Speaker 18: Everything that you could you couldn't miss, I know. Yeah,
- 15:20Speaker 18: that's a really good feeling. You know, hitting is hard.
- 15:23Speaker 18: It thinks is part of the hardest thing to do
- 15:24Speaker 18: in any sports. So I mean going for seven for
- 15:26Speaker 18: seven is pretty crazy, and but you just I think
- 15:29Speaker 18: baseball is also one of those sports where when you
- 15:32Speaker 18: have a little bit of confidence and by the time
- 15:34Speaker 18: you're four for four, five or five, you kind of
- 15:35Speaker 18: just believe that you're not going to get out today.
- 15:37Speaker 4: So I think that that helps a little bit.
- 15:39Speaker 15: And just feeling really good in the box and go
- 15:41Speaker 15: along way in baseball more than you know your actual
- 15:44Speaker 15: fundamentals of your swing.
- 15:45Speaker 10: How are you working to use that confidence moving forward?
- 15:48Speaker 15: Obviously it's a little different when you're not in that moment,
- 15:50Speaker 15: but how you kind of translate that into the next
- 15:52Speaker 15: weeknd Uh yeah, I mean, like I said, I mean,
- 15:55Speaker 15: I'm gonna get out right it's it's baseball. So I
- 15:57Speaker 15: think you got to take that with it and just
- 15:58Speaker 15: keep the same approach and just keep having fun in there,
- 16:01Speaker 15: and I think it'll it'll allow itself to happen. But
- 16:04Speaker 15: I'm not trying to do too much and not trying
- 16:06Speaker 15: to keep the street going, but just keep them the
- 16:09Speaker 15: same approach and and it'll take care of itself.
- 16:11Speaker 4: I think it's senior Day this weekend. Just what's that
- 16:15Speaker 4: mean to you? And just you know why you think
- 16:17Speaker 4: coming to A and M was was the right decision
- 16:19Speaker 4: for you?
- 16:19Speaker 15: Yeah, I mean coming to A and M was definitely
- 16:20Speaker 15: the right decision. That's probably the best decision I made.
- 16:23Speaker 15: I absolutely love it here and see your again is
- 16:25Speaker 15: gonna be great. A little bit sad, but uh, I
- 16:27Speaker 15: really enjoyed my time here, so happy to be on
- 16:31Speaker 15: the field for it and have my family here and
- 16:33Speaker 15: and just kind of enjoyed playing at home one more time.
- 16:35Speaker 15: And I guess we'll be back for regional stuff so
- 16:37Speaker 15: that'll be even more fun. But uh, last home series,
- 16:39Speaker 15: so it'll it'll definitely be a special anything.
- 16:42Speaker 5: It's forbid.
- 16:43Speaker 9: I noticed as you're as you're in the box, did
- 16:46Speaker 9: you look back?
- 16:47Speaker 5: Were you looking at the Do you look at the
- 16:48Speaker 5: pitch clock?
- 16:49Speaker 19: Yeah?
- 16:49Speaker 15: I like to people ask me that, like who you're
- 16:51Speaker 15: looking at in the stands?
- 16:52Speaker 4: Uh No, I like to just look at the pitch clock.
- 16:54Speaker 15: I did the same thing here. Baseball is a timing
- 16:57Speaker 15: game for hitters and pitchers, so I just like to
- 17:00Speaker 15: Sometimes I'll let it go all the way down. Sometimes
- 17:01Speaker 15: you go quick, but I think it just messes with
- 17:04Speaker 15: them a little bit. I saw their catcher telling the
- 17:05Speaker 15: picture to wait on me and stuff. So anything you
- 17:07Speaker 15: can do just to kind of and even if it
- 17:09Speaker 15: doesn't affect them, you know, if it makes me think
- 17:11Speaker 15: it affects them, right, then that helps too. So just
- 17:13Speaker 15: anything to kind of get an edge on.
- 17:15Speaker 13: Somebody else and maybe build them off their timing.
- 17:17Speaker 4: It's all it is.
- 17:19Speaker 11: What's the midweeks looked like for you? Just you know,
- 17:22Speaker 11: getting working and staying ready.
- 17:24Speaker 15: Uh yeah, I mean just some practicing stuff every day.
- 17:26Speaker 15: There's not much more for somebody like me that wasn't playing,
- 17:29Speaker 15: just to stay ready. I guess we're having the same
- 17:32Speaker 15: practice as everybody else. But I think, if anything, it's
- 17:34Speaker 15: just more of a just a mental ready to go
- 17:36Speaker 15: if you're numbers falled, and it hadn't been until this
- 17:38Speaker 15: last week, but just just staying ready and being loose
- 17:41Speaker 15: and being yourself when kind.
- 17:43Speaker 4: Of looking ahead a little bit.
- 17:44Speaker 8: But I know they've announced that the ABS is gonna
- 17:47Speaker 8: be in the SEC tournament.
- 17:49Speaker 4: What kind of conversations have y'all had.
- 17:51Speaker 19: Have y'all developed like a little bit of.
- 17:52Speaker 4: A system or anything about how that's gonna work.
- 17:54Speaker 15: Yeah, we have not. I think just because this weekend
- 17:56Speaker 15: is such a big weekend for us, we got to
- 17:58Speaker 15: take care of this one. But I mean we've talked
- 17:59Speaker 15: about it, as you know, just in the locker room
- 18:01Speaker 15: and stuff. It's gonna be pretty cool, I think, But
- 18:03Speaker 15: I don't know the exact system. I don't know if
- 18:05Speaker 15: we're gonna have I guess we're the ones to make
- 18:07Speaker 15: the decision, but I don't know if we're gonna leave
- 18:09Speaker 15: that more up to to bear and leave those for
- 18:11Speaker 15: bear rather than hitters, or we're gonna try and use
- 18:13Speaker 15: them all hitting wise. I don't know our approach on
- 18:15Speaker 15: that yet, but I'm interested to see, and uh, I
- 18:18Speaker 15: kind of want to use one of those.
- 18:19Speaker 4: You think it'll give an advantage to the hitters. I
- 18:21Speaker 4: don't know.
- 18:22Speaker 10: I don't.
- 18:22Speaker 4: I'm not sure, you know.
- 18:24Speaker 15: I think a lot of people don't realize in baseball
- 18:25Speaker 15: that if the ball even just clips any part of
- 18:28Speaker 15: the zone, that's a strike.
- 18:29Speaker 17: You know.
- 18:29Speaker 15: I think a lot of people have the misconception that
- 18:31Speaker 15: you know, it's gonna be halfway in or whatever it is.
- 18:33Speaker 15: So I think, if anything, I think it kind of
- 18:36Speaker 15: hurts the hitters. I think it kind of helps the
- 18:37Speaker 15: pitchers a little bit. But uh, but it's everyone's gonna
- 18:41Speaker 15: have the same advantage or disadvantage though it'll all be good,
- 18:44Speaker 15: you think, you think if.
- 18:45Speaker 8: Someone does like a like a not leverage challenge will
- 18:47Speaker 8: get pretty good.
- 18:48Speaker 15: You know, yeah, it'll it'll get pretty loud. I think
- 18:52Speaker 15: it's gonna be I think definitely the very first one.
- 18:53Speaker 15: Whoever does the first one, that it's gonna be cool.
- 18:55Speaker 15: But it'll definitely be new. But I think it'll be
- 18:58Speaker 15: pretty cool to do so I.
- 19:00Speaker 2: I'd like to say I for OYO can repeat those accomplishments.
- 19:04Speaker 2: See Agies have a real good chance of winning two
- 19:06Speaker 2: out of three agains Mississippi State.

- 22:37Speaker 4: Ticket to Geeto.
- 22:40Speaker 25: Welcome into the High School Report. I'm Caleb Rapley, and
- 22:43Speaker 25: today we are jumping out to the Players Funds in
- 22:45Speaker 25: her phone line to talk to the head coach of
- 22:48Speaker 25: the Lake Creek Lady Lions softball team, Miss Candace Carter, coach,
- 22:53Speaker 25: Thanks for joining me.
- 22:54Speaker 26: Thank you so much, happy to be here, happy.
- 22:56Speaker 25: To have you so your lady lyons a thirty five
- 23:00Speaker 25: and one overall record this season. We are now into
- 23:04Speaker 25: the Regional finals, which is the fourth round of the
- 23:08Speaker 25: UIO playoffs, and so far, you've swept your way through
- 23:12Speaker 25: the playoffs two games to zero over West Fork, Santa Fe,
- 23:16Speaker 25: and Weiss. So how has your squad been able to
- 23:20Speaker 25: be so.
- 23:20Speaker 16: Consistent this year?
- 23:22Speaker 26: Well, you know, we we've faced some really good competitions
- 23:26Speaker 26: throughout the first three rounds of playoffs, So a lot
- 23:29Speaker 26: of respect to those programs and what they've been able
- 23:32Speaker 26: to do this season. The way we stay consistent. We
- 23:36Speaker 26: talk a lot about mental training. We really focus on,
- 23:39Speaker 26: you know, having short term memory, being able to move
- 23:42Speaker 26: on to the next play what I was talking about,
- 23:44Speaker 26: like the most important thing is the next wing. And
- 23:46Speaker 26: so we really just try to keep our self strong
- 23:51Speaker 26: between the years and we know that if we do that,
- 23:53Speaker 26: that doesn't horrible follow.
- 23:56Speaker 25: So I haven't looked back at last season's schedule, but
- 24:00Speaker 25: with the UIL playoff format, it's now split into the
- 24:04Speaker 25: two different divisions of five A Division one five A
- 24:08Speaker 25: Division two, two teams from each district as opposed to
- 24:12Speaker 25: four teams from the district going into one just bracket
- 24:15Speaker 25: for the whole classification like it used to be. I
- 24:17Speaker 25: think it was two years ago they made that change now,
- 24:20Speaker 25: So what are your thoughts on that shift between the
- 24:22Speaker 25: two formats.
- 24:24Speaker 26: Well, you know, I think everybody has a lot of
- 24:26Speaker 26: opinions on it, but we're just excited to have the
- 24:30Speaker 26: opportunity to be able to get to be able to
- 24:32Speaker 26: keep competing and playing. As far as what division we
- 24:35Speaker 26: go into and stuff like that, that's completely out of
- 24:37Speaker 26: our control, and we talk about it often that we
- 24:40Speaker 26: don't get to decide what division we go into. It's
- 24:43Speaker 26: totally based off of who our top four teams are
- 24:45Speaker 26: in our district, and so we just face whatever challenge
- 24:49Speaker 26: we get taken head on, whether we're in Division one
- 24:52Speaker 26: or Division two. There was very much a chance we
- 24:54Speaker 26: could end up Division one this year and ended up
- 24:56Speaker 26: not happening, and so we're in Division two and we're
- 24:59Speaker 26: just going to do the best we can with the
- 25:01Speaker 26: opportunities that were being given. I love that more Kins
- 25:03Speaker 26: are getting the opportunity to showcase their talent.
- 25:06Speaker 25: So opening up the Regional finals series, I believe that's
- 25:10Speaker 25: tonight against Georgetown, and this Georgetown team did not win
- 25:15Speaker 25: their district, went nine and three in District twenty three,
- 25:19Speaker 25: which WHI the district champions you'll beat last week. So
- 25:22Speaker 25: this Lady Eagle team seems to be peaking at the
- 25:25Speaker 25: right time.
- 25:26Speaker 16: What do you expect to see in this series?
- 25:28Speaker 26: You know, this is a well established program with a
- 25:32Speaker 26: great coach who's done an incredible job at Georgetown and
- 25:35Speaker 26: where she's been before that as well, and so we
- 25:38Speaker 26: definitely expect a good competition. There's always a good rivalry
- 25:41Speaker 26: between us and Georgetown, and my four years of being here,
- 25:44Speaker 26: we faced some three times at the last four playoffs,
- 25:47Speaker 26: all three times at Mumford, which is where we're playing
- 25:49Speaker 26: again this round. So we look for it to be
- 25:51Speaker 26: a great series and a competitive one for sure. Excited
- 25:56Speaker 26: about it.
- 25:57Speaker 25: So what are going to be some of the keys
- 25:59Speaker 25: to victory for or the Lady Lions this weekend?
- 26:03Speaker 26: You know, we want to see all facet of our
- 26:05Speaker 26: game working together at the same time, so from our pitching,
- 26:08Speaker 26: to our defense, to our offense, even getting into our
- 26:11Speaker 26: base running and things like that. We're very aggressive base runners.
- 26:15Speaker 26: Sometimes we run ourselves off the bag a little bit,
- 26:18Speaker 26: so we want to see that rained in which we
- 26:20Speaker 26: worked on practice. We work in practice this week on
- 26:23Speaker 26: those things. But I think when all facets of our
- 26:26Speaker 26: game are working well, we're really tough team to play,
- 26:30Speaker 26: for sure, So we'd love to see that happen going
- 26:32Speaker 26: into this round and see all the pieces fitting together
- 26:35Speaker 26: as we continue to move forward.
- 26:37Speaker 25: So one thing that has always interested me with these
- 26:42Speaker 25: with baseball and softball. In the UIL tournament, coaches have
- 26:46Speaker 25: the option to do a two out of three series
- 26:50Speaker 25: or at one game playoff. And I know in softball pitching,
- 26:55Speaker 25: the pitching management is obviously a little bit different than
- 26:57Speaker 25: in baseball, where it's a lot easier for softball.
- 27:02Speaker 16: Pitchers to go, you know, more than just one game
- 27:05Speaker 16: a weekend.
- 27:07Speaker 25: But what goes into that decision when you're talking to
- 27:10Speaker 25: talking to the other coach and making that determination.
- 27:14Speaker 26: Yeah, you pretty much decide going into it. Do you
- 27:16Speaker 26: want to play one game or a series. Me, I'm
- 27:19Speaker 26: old school, I'm a coach's kids. My dad's always taught me,
- 27:22Speaker 26: you know, a series is the best way to go.
- 27:25Speaker 26: And I think just because of the integrity of the
- 27:27Speaker 26: game and knowing our team also like the best team
- 27:30Speaker 26: is going to move forward when you have a two
- 27:32Speaker 26: out of three chance, and I want that to happen.
- 27:34Speaker 26: I want the best team to move forward, and so
- 27:37Speaker 26: I like to lean towards the series majority of the time.
- 27:40Speaker 26: Pitching is a little bit different with what you're saying,
- 27:43Speaker 26: But softball pitchers can go a little bit longer, especially
- 27:45Speaker 26: when games aren't doubleheaders and things like that. And for me,
- 27:49Speaker 26: I love a good series because I know that if
- 27:53Speaker 26: it gives that chance that, let's say we have an
- 27:55Speaker 26: all day, you can always come back the next day
- 27:56Speaker 26: and still have the opportunity to figure it out. So
- 27:59Speaker 26: I just I just want the best team to advance.
- 28:01Speaker 26: So that's why I love a series.
- 28:03Speaker 25: All right, Coach, Well, it's another deep run for your
- 28:07Speaker 25: lady Lions. We wish you luck this weekend and in
- 28:11Speaker 25: any sub subsequent rounds that you.
- 28:13Speaker 16: Advanced to Thank you, Caleb.
- 28:15Speaker 26: Always a pleasure to be here.
- 28:16Speaker 16: All right, Thanks again for your time today.
- 28:18Speaker 26: Absolutely.

- 30:23Speaker 6: It was a rough night for the Houston Astros last
- 30:25Speaker 6: night as they fell to the Athletics six to nothing,
- 30:27Speaker 6: resulting in the Mariners clinching the AO West. Not only
- 30:31Speaker 6: have the Astros lost the AL West, but are in
- 30:33Speaker 6: danger of missing the playoffs altogether. The last time the
- 30:36Speaker 6: Strow has missed the postseason was twenty sixteen. Their current
- 30:40Speaker 6: record is eighty four and seventy four. Instead of game
- 30:42Speaker 6: back of the Detroit Tigers for the final playoff spot,
- 30:45Speaker 6: if we were to come down to a tiebreaker, they
- 30:47Speaker 6: only have one against the Toronto Blue Jays. Last night
- 30:51Speaker 6: was not the best outing for Hunter Brown as he
- 30:53Speaker 6: went five innings allowing six hits and four runs. For
- 30:56Speaker 6: the Athletics. Luis Severino went six and a third allowing
- 30:59Speaker 6: just hits and no runs with five strikeouts. Today, the

- 31:11Speaker 16: I'm Dylan Moore is seeing J Barbecue.
- 31:15Speaker 17: Okay, So for the ad, I'm thinking fog machines, laser lies.
- 31:19Speaker 16: Maybe see free Uh yes.
- 31:22Speaker 5: Like actually free, Yes, every Wednesday night so I can
- 31:25Speaker 5: get free barbecue.
- 31:27Speaker 17: That's how kids eat free, works, Buddy, Wednesday.
- 31:29Speaker 28: Is my favorite, Dan.
- 31:30Speaker 17: Now see no fog machine needed.
- 31:33Speaker 23: Oh man, kids eat free every Wednesday night at seeing
- 31:36Speaker 23: J Barbecue.
- 31:37Speaker 25: Great food, happy kids seeing J Barbecue because dinners shouldn't
- 31:41Speaker 25: be another battle.
- 31:43Speaker 4: You're listening to the sauce Maggie Landshall Sports Station.
- 31:52Speaker 24: Rosetta sweet Coretta fat. She thought she wasn't cleaner? Yeah, okay, though.
- 32:20Speaker 29: He was.
- 32:23Speaker 2: Welcome back at baseball coming your way in about an
- 32:25Speaker 2: hour or so.
- 32:28Speaker 1: Right now, we're.
- 32:28Speaker 10: Gonna hear from Chris Okope.
- 32:30Speaker 2: And he has been playing hurt as we say, uh,
- 32:34Speaker 2: he could be a hockey player, but he's been swinging
- 32:37Speaker 2: the bat without question. And let's hear from Chris Acopian.
- 32:44Speaker 9: So you know, it's very impressive to watch what you're
- 32:48Speaker 9: doing basically on one life. Yeah, you know, getting now
- 32:52Speaker 9: a double basically how along time?
- 32:54Speaker 8: Tell me what you're going.
- 32:55Speaker 5: Through and and and how this is helping you get
- 32:58Speaker 5: through it?
- 32:58Speaker 13: Yeah?
- 32:59Speaker 14: You know what'll I just I want to win and
- 33:01Speaker 14: I want to play, and right now I'm capable at
- 33:05Speaker 14: the plate, like it doesn't bother me too much to hit,
- 33:07Speaker 14: So figure, Hey, if I can get get some good
- 33:10Speaker 14: swings off a game, why not go for it?
- 33:13Speaker 13: What is it?
- 33:13Speaker 4: What does it feel like?
- 33:14Speaker 8: Where is the the hurt and what does it feel like?
- 33:17Speaker 14: Yeah, it's uh, it's just a little below my knee,
- 33:22Speaker 14: and honestly, I don't really know exactly how to describe
- 33:25Speaker 14: it is kind of like a sharp pain type of thing,
- 33:26Speaker 14: but uh, yeah, it's it is progressing, it's getting better.
- 33:31Speaker 13: It's just it's the type of thing that just needs
- 33:32Speaker 13: a little bit of a rest.
- 33:33Speaker 14: And uh, I think this week is gonna be good,
- 33:36Speaker 14: and then after this week too, there's a good amount
- 33:38Speaker 14: of rest as well.
- 33:39Speaker 4: As it affected you at the plate, But has your
- 33:41Speaker 4: approach changed at all? Is it a different stride?
- 33:43Speaker 29: Maybe?
- 33:44Speaker 5: Is it just an oby tagget?
- 33:45Speaker 19: Uh?
- 33:46Speaker 14: I mean I probably don't want to hit as many
- 33:47Speaker 14: grumd Boles because I'm not I'm not beating anything out,
- 33:50Speaker 14: but really I wasn't before that regardless, So now the
- 33:55Speaker 14: approach is the same.
- 33:57Speaker 13: Yeah, just trying to do damage right now.
- 33:58Speaker 8: What can you say about your you know, I wanna
- 34:01Speaker 8: say middle of the field, a bit kind of pull, you know,
- 34:03Speaker 8: everything other than the first base, About the ability to
- 34:06Speaker 8: adjust through all of the injuries and stuff that have
- 34:08Speaker 8: happened this year.
- 34:09Speaker 14: Yeah, I mean it's just part of the game. You
- 34:11Speaker 14: gotta be you know, there's gonna be a lot of
- 34:13Speaker 14: ups and downs in this game. There's gonna be a
- 34:15Speaker 14: lot of times where you gotta be tough. And I
- 34:17Speaker 14: think that's just what's kind of presenting itself this year.
- 34:20Speaker 5: For me to impress for you with what Ben was
- 34:22Speaker 5: able to.
- 34:22Speaker 13: Do, and it was so cool.
- 34:24Speaker 14: I mean everyone loves Ben and yeah, I mean it
- 34:28Speaker 14: was to get his number called and to do what
- 34:30Speaker 14: he did is just insane, but yeah, everyone loves him,
- 34:33Speaker 14: so that was great.
- 34:34Speaker 11: So what is like the middle of the week kind
- 34:36Speaker 11: of look for you trying to rest and maybe some
- 34:39Speaker 11: of the things you're you're doing.
- 34:40Speaker 4: To be as close to one hundred percent as you
- 34:43Speaker 4: can be.
- 34:43Speaker 14: Yeah, truthfully, it's it's kind of weird, but I have
- 34:46Speaker 14: to just do almost as little as possible with what
- 34:50Speaker 14: I'm able to do. So it's just like, hey, let's
- 34:53Speaker 14: get some good swings in today. I'm not really gonna
- 34:56Speaker 14: be doing any sprints. I'm not gonna be taking one
- 34:58Speaker 14: hundred ground balls. Yeah, it's just kind of I gotta
- 35:01Speaker 14: let the rest, but I still also have to prepare
- 35:05Speaker 14: for what I'm gonna do in the games this weekend.
- 35:07Speaker 14: So yeah, just gotta be smart about it in game planning.
- 35:11Speaker 5: Since back to.
- 35:12Speaker 8: The fault and now, you've had a lot of different
- 35:14Speaker 8: things to has it been one of the toughest years
- 35:16Speaker 8: for you physically?
- 35:18Speaker 13: Yeah, I think just kind of back to back.
- 35:21Speaker 14: Yeah, you know, Normally, like in a year, it's like, hey,
- 35:23Speaker 14: one thing for a week or two, get over that,
- 35:26Speaker 14: and the year is pretty clean from that. This has
- 35:29Speaker 14: been weird where it's been like consecutive hand back face
- 35:35Speaker 14: leg But it is what it is, man, Just take
- 35:40Speaker 14: it the way it's supposed to be taken and keep
- 35:43Speaker 14: playing hard.
- 35:44Speaker 8: We've ever seen two guys on a team get hit
- 35:46Speaker 8: in the face in one season.
- 35:47Speaker 10: Could you convincerate with Boston.
- 35:49Speaker 15: A little bit?
- 35:49Speaker 14: I've never even seen one person get hit directly in
- 35:52Speaker 14: the face before. Actually, no, my roommate last year at
- 35:54Speaker 14: Maryland did get hit in the face and it.
- 35:56Speaker 13: Was pretty brutal.
- 35:58Speaker 14: But yeah, that's such a rare thing, and for that
- 36:00Speaker 14: to happen twice is weird. But yeah, Boston, he's he
- 36:05Speaker 14: took it like a chant man and he uh yeah,
- 36:08Speaker 14: he's already moving around doing things at the field and stuff,
- 36:11Speaker 14: so he's he's a stud.
- 36:13Speaker 13: Oh my god, his was way worse. Oh my gosh,
- 36:16Speaker 13: his eye was it was pretty swollen. I got lucky.
- 36:20Speaker 13: It was just the front teeth that were a little
- 36:22Speaker 13: best stuff.
- 36:23Speaker 5: They said he had a root canals I did.
- 36:25Speaker 18: Yeah, yeah, you.
- 36:28Speaker 8: Know.
- 36:28Speaker 11: Mike was saying too that it looks like he might
- 36:30Speaker 11: have to wear some sort of mask.
- 36:31Speaker 4: Was that any consideration with you when you got hit.
- 36:35Speaker 14: I put some extra like padding on the c flap
- 36:37Speaker 14: and uh. I did wear a mouth guard for that
- 36:39Speaker 14: first weekend back in LSU. But uh but really now, nothing.
- 36:43Speaker 8: Else there was video of you, I think down in
- 36:46Speaker 8: the next day and don't was that just to kind
- 36:48Speaker 8: of stand in there a little?
- 36:49Speaker 14: Yeah, it was just like, you know, if the last
- 36:51Speaker 14: pitch you see was just the one at your face.
- 36:54Speaker 13: I think I just had to get that.
- 36:56Speaker 10: Ah, it's just that.
- 36:57Speaker 13: Little fear out of my head real quick. And uh,
- 36:59Speaker 13: yes it was.
- 37:00Speaker 14: It was cool with me seeing some on his bullpen,
- 37:02Speaker 14: and yeah, I think that just was like, Hey, let's
- 37:05Speaker 14: just why not can't hurt you can only.
- 37:08Speaker 4: Help speakin of your c flat. You have a like
- 37:10Speaker 4: a new message on there.
- 37:11Speaker 10: Yes, what is that and why is it important?
- 37:13Speaker 5: Dude?
- 37:14Speaker 14: Yeah, it's John three sixteen and h it's really the
- 37:17Speaker 14: gospel of Jesus Christ. And I knew that day when
- 37:22Speaker 14: I came back the broadcast was going to zoom in
- 37:24Speaker 14: on the uh zoom in kind of on my face
- 37:27Speaker 14: on that sea flap area, and I thought it was
- 37:29Speaker 14: just a good opportunity to just show where I get
- 37:33Speaker 14: my strength from. My strength doesn't come for me, It
- 37:35Speaker 14: comes from my Lord Jesus Christ. And yeah, I just
- 37:39Speaker 14: want everyone to kind of I wanted to share that
- 37:41Speaker 14: opportunity to know what He's done for me in my life.
- 37:43Speaker 11: And yeah, I want to ask you about Ben just
- 37:46Speaker 11: what's his personality like on the team and just what
- 37:50Speaker 11: he's meant to all this season, even though maybe it's
- 37:52Speaker 11: playing opportunity to have been limited till this last weekend.
- 37:55Speaker 14: Yeah, I mean Ben's a stud. He's one of my
- 37:57Speaker 14: best friends on this team. And yeah, I mean he
- 38:00Speaker 14: just all year, he's just gone about his work. He's
- 38:02Speaker 14: done his thing, and I think it's really cool that
- 38:05Speaker 14: the day he gets his numbered called to do what
- 38:09Speaker 14: he I mean, to do what he did after not
- 38:11Speaker 14: playing for forty plus games.
- 38:13Speaker 13: Is I mean it's unheard him. I don't think anyone's
- 38:15Speaker 13: ever hearnt something like that.
- 38:17Speaker 14: And I think he just shows the type of player
- 38:19Speaker 14: that he is, what he's capable of, and I.
- 38:21Speaker 13: Think we're gonna be seeing a lot more of him.
- 38:23Speaker 8: So you know, is there you talked about just staying
- 38:25Speaker 8: ready and early?
- 38:26Speaker 5: It is like, hey, just everyone here is getting ready.
- 38:28Speaker 8: But is there ever a moment you have to talk
- 38:30Speaker 8: to him, just like as a brand of the teammate,
- 38:32Speaker 8: be like, hey, keep your head up, pick it up,
- 38:33Speaker 8: or is any of that conversation there?
- 38:35Speaker 14: Uh not really, just because he's a good teammate and
- 38:41Speaker 14: all he wanted from this team is he just wants
- 38:43Speaker 14: us to win. So I mean, as long as we're
- 38:45Speaker 14: doing that, he's happy. And I would say that's probably
- 38:48Speaker 14: the case for most guys here. But uh, yeah, I
- 38:51Speaker 14: hear what you're saying, but not really.
- 38:52Speaker 8: I think the Senior day of festivities. So what does
- 38:55Speaker 8: that mean to you into the program to get to.
- 38:58Speaker 13: Celebrate, Yeah, I mean it's huge.
- 38:59Speaker 14: I mean the senior here are are some of the
- 39:02Speaker 14: best leaders that I've been around on this team, and yeah,
- 39:06Speaker 14: just to have that day dedicated to them. I remember
- 39:08Speaker 14: Senior Day last year. My brother was a senior and
- 39:11Speaker 14: I got to play with him, and just knowing how
- 39:13Speaker 14: much that means for the individual, the family, It's a
- 39:16Speaker 14: it's a special weekend, and I'm excited for that.
- 39:19Speaker 8: Then, I know, get a little bit ahead. But y'all
- 39:21Speaker 8: have the ABS coming up on the tournament. How excited
- 39:26Speaker 8: are y'all to have that?
- 39:27Speaker 15: Yeah?
- 39:28Speaker 10: Are you ready to challenge them?
- 39:29Speaker 13: I'm ready to challenge them.
- 39:30Speaker 14: I'm gonna get coach's opinion on his leeway for what
- 39:36Speaker 14: he wants us to do with that.
- 39:38Speaker 13: But yeah, I feel like i'd be Uh, I feel
- 39:40Speaker 13: like I wouldn't be bad at that. So I'm excited
- 39:42Speaker 13: for that.
- 39:43Speaker 8: You'll have to talk about any kind of system or
- 39:45Speaker 8: anything yet about what that's gonna look like.
- 39:47Speaker 14: Not really just because it's it'll be a quick conversation.
- 39:50Speaker 14: Right now, let's just focus on Mississippi State and then
- 39:54Speaker 14: a few days leading up, hey, ten minutes like, yeah,
- 39:56Speaker 14: this is how we're gonna do this as a team
- 39:58Speaker 14: and go from there.
- 39:59Speaker 8: Do you think how the hitters maybe a little bit
- 40:01Speaker 8: because the pitchers might not be able to to nibble
- 40:03Speaker 8: quite as much?
- 40:04Speaker 13: Yeah, I think uh.
- 40:05Speaker 14: I mean, honestly, the strike zones are pretty good here
- 40:09Speaker 14: in SEC baseball, but I definitely think in college like
- 40:12Speaker 14: you're gonna get a little wider strike zones occasionally. So
- 40:15Speaker 14: I think, yeah, it'll definitely work out for the hitters.
- 40:18Speaker 14: I think for a few calls.
- 40:20Speaker 11: How many times this season do you think you would
- 40:22Speaker 11: have tried to challenge already?
- 40:24Speaker 13: A few? Probably a few weekend. I'm not gonna lie.
- 40:27Speaker 14: I would just I would always be tap I probably
- 40:29Speaker 14: wouldn't even be right most of the time, but i'd
- 40:31Speaker 14: be tapping out.
- 40:33Speaker 8: Is there some level of kind of like that little
- 40:34Speaker 8: kid where it's something that the major leaguers get to do?
- 40:37Speaker 8: So now you get the yeah, yeah, like a little
- 40:39Speaker 8: little kid excitement to that.
- 40:40Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 40:41Speaker 14: I feel like you scroll on Twitter and all you
- 40:42Speaker 14: see right now is just a bunch of players doing that,
- 40:45Speaker 14: and uh yeah, I think it'll be funny and cool
- 40:49Speaker 14: anything else.
- 40:49Speaker 3: Yeah, the.
- 40:53Speaker 9: With everything going into this weekend, I know that Coach
- 40:56Speaker 9: Early says, y'all are gonna take a game, but the
- 40:58Speaker 9: players know.
- 40:59Speaker 5: How important this series reason is.
- 41:00Speaker 9: Yeah, that all the grit and determination that this team
- 41:03Speaker 9: has built, how's that going to factor around to win
- 41:07Speaker 9: in the series?
- 41:08Speaker 15: Man?
- 41:08Speaker 14: I mean, honestly, like every weekend there's so much built
- 41:12Speaker 14: up energy and just meaning behind every game that we play.
- 41:16Speaker 14: I don't think you're gonna see like a noticeable difference
- 41:20Speaker 14: in energy and stuff like that, because I feel like
- 41:23Speaker 14: every weekend we show up with a ton of energy
- 41:25Speaker 14: and we want to win every weekend. So yeah, we
- 41:29Speaker 14: do understand how important this weekend is. But I think
- 41:31Speaker 14: we're just gonna show up and do our same routines,
- 41:33Speaker 14: go through our same process, and play the game that
- 41:36Speaker 14: we've been playing all year.
- 41:38Speaker 4: All right.
- 41:39Speaker 2: Last night and Arlington, the Ragers took a three to
- 41:42Speaker 2: nothing lead over Arizona. It was the rubber match of
- 41:45Speaker 2: the three game series. Then they were ahead three to two.
- 41:48Speaker 2: Then they break Jacob lats In for the second night
- 41:52Speaker 2: in a row and then they're behind five to three
- 41:55Speaker 2: going into the ninth inning, and then low and behold,
- 42:00Speaker 2: a dormant offense comes alive. Danny Jensen, the catcher with
- 42:06Speaker 2: the game winner. Skip Schumacher after the game talking about
- 42:11Speaker 2: all the contributions, had a big comeback by the Rangers.
- 42:16Speaker 29: Especially after giving it up in the ninth inning for
- 42:19Speaker 29: them to come back again, JJ and Duran kind of
- 42:22Speaker 29: sparking that rally in the ninth inning and then you know,
- 42:26Speaker 29: Danny with a huge hit. But you're right, that was
- 42:29Speaker 29: it could have been the difference of a deflating or
- 42:32Speaker 29: inflating clubhouse right there.
- 42:34Speaker 16: They're super excited.
- 42:36Speaker 29: It felt like, you know that it could have you know,
- 42:41Speaker 29: Lats has been so good this year. He has given
- 42:44Speaker 29: up you know, next to no runs. I pitched him,
- 42:48Speaker 29: you know, two innings day off and back to back
- 42:51Speaker 29: and running him out there and maybe not fair to
- 42:54Speaker 29: him quite honestly, but the boys picked him up in
- 42:57Speaker 29: a big way. And so he's all smiles right now,
- 43:00Speaker 29: which he probably wouldn't have been, you know if we
- 43:02Speaker 29: ended up losing that game. And that's what good teams
- 43:04Speaker 29: do and good teammates do, is they pick each other
- 43:06Speaker 29: up and we had a lot of that tonight, you know,
- 43:08Speaker 29: quite honestly, and so we've been really good at coming
- 43:12Speaker 29: from behind and coming back late in games this year,
- 43:15Speaker 29: and you know, hopefully that's a that's part of our identity. Yeah, Jake,
- 43:21Speaker 29: You know, it's an easy guy to root for because
- 43:24Speaker 29: of how good of a person he is, but also
- 43:26Speaker 29: how hard he works. And you know, you bet on
- 43:29Speaker 29: guys that work hard, and I believe hard work equals
- 43:32Speaker 29: good luck, and he got some good luck today. He
- 43:34Speaker 29: deserves the good luck with all the the work he's
- 43:37Speaker 29: put in lately and I mean all his career, I
- 43:39Speaker 29: should say, but yeah, today was was huge for him.
- 43:42Speaker 29: And you know, we need him, like I've said before,
- 43:45Speaker 29: middle of the lineup, bottom of the lineup lately, and
- 43:47Speaker 29: he's provided some huge runs and runs bad than another
- 43:51Speaker 29: easy guy to root for. I fell in love with
- 43:55Speaker 29: Danny and spring training, just the way he goes about it,
