- 0:00Speaker 1: I cannot remember her name, and when I was writing
- 0:03Speaker 1: down Clothe, I was.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Like, no, that's not right.
- 0:04Speaker 3: It's Sophie.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Hey, everybuddy. Welcome to you Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark
- 0:21Speaker 2: review podcast. I'm Megan, I'm Wendy, and today we are
- 0:24Speaker 2: recapping the Way Home finale of season one, not All
- 0:30Speaker 2: who Wander are Lost. If you'd like to connect with
- 0:33Speaker 2: us outside of the podcast, we'd love to have you
- 0:36Speaker 2: on Instagram, where we are both at Megan and Wendy
- 0:39Speaker 2: and at Girls Gone Hallmark.
- 0:42Speaker 1: You can also jump into our Facebook group Girls Gone Hallmark.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Tons of new people over there. There was a little
- 0:48Speaker 1: discussion about this finale episode not a ton.
- 0:52Speaker 2: I think it's going to kick up as people are
- 0:54Speaker 2: catching it on their DVR. Yeah. Plus, I don't think
- 0:57Speaker 2: people want to like spoil right. Come on, Before we
- 1:01Speaker 2: get into our recap, I wanted to share that we
- 1:04Speaker 2: got a message and I apologize if it was you
- 1:06Speaker 2: who sent it. I dug into my Instagram at DMS,
- 1:10Speaker 2: I looked on our email. I don't know where this
- 1:13Speaker 2: comment came in, but it was in regards to Kat
- 1:16Speaker 2: using the name Rose and the grief support group, and
- 1:19Speaker 2: this commenter pointed out that the name of their boat
- 1:23Speaker 2: is the Delilah Rose. So apparently that's her mother's either
- 1:27Speaker 2: middle name or it's a nickname that Colton had for her.
- 1:30Speaker 2: I see, I see, I've noticed this is not unique
- 1:34Speaker 2: to the Way Home. But like, typically when they choose
- 1:36Speaker 2: previously on scenes, they're choosing scenes that will feed It's
- 1:40Speaker 2: not like just last episode. Yeah, Like, let's choose scenes
- 1:43Speaker 2: that are going to be about what this is about, right,
- 1:45Speaker 2: So I want to tell you just what the previously
- 1:47Speaker 2: on was for this before you.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Jump into our recap. Tell me, because I don't know
- 1:49Speaker 1: if I paid that close attention.
- 1:51Speaker 2: We get Colton singing to Dell in the past when
- 1:54Speaker 2: he's with Alice and Della's coming down the stairs. We
- 1:57Speaker 2: get a way throwback to wondering who sent the note
- 2:02Speaker 2: your mom. We hear dell is really said on the
- 2:05Speaker 2: idea that there was another woman, and then we get
- 2:08Speaker 2: Elliott mad at Cat that she's not here with him.
- 2:14Speaker 2: And I had to say a real accurate representation of
- 2:16Speaker 2: what we're gonna get in this episode, definitely are you ready? Yeah?
- 2:19Speaker 1: I am. It opens we see the full moon, and
- 2:23Speaker 1: then we see Coln's car crash again.
- 2:25Speaker 3: Kent.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Alice are running through their woods sobbing, coming out of
- 2:28Speaker 1: the cold pond in present day, and Elliott there is
- 2:32Speaker 1: there and Cat is screaming it was my fault, It
- 2:34Speaker 1: was my fault. And I gotta say, like, wow, that
- 2:37Speaker 1: was a great scene by Kyler Lee where she was
- 2:40Speaker 1: like freezing cold, shaking king out yes with the realization
- 2:45Speaker 1: of what just happened.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Yes, I wrote masterful performance from Kyler Lee. There. Yeah.
- 2:51Speaker 2: We cut to Elliott's home. Alice is asleep on the
- 2:54Speaker 2: couch and Kat's talking to Elliott saying she should have
- 2:56Speaker 2: listened about Elliott saying what has happened will always happen,
- 3:00Speaker 2: and Elliott repeats that. Cat wonders if he would have
- 3:02Speaker 2: died anyway, if she hadn't gone back, would Colton still
- 3:06Speaker 2: have died? And this is the kind of time travel
- 3:09Speaker 2: circular logic that again makes my brain short circuit. But
- 3:14Speaker 2: she's telling Elliott Colton knew who she was, he recognized her,
- 3:17Speaker 2: my cat, my Catherine, and she wonders what that means,
- 3:20Speaker 2: and Elliott doesn't know either.
- 3:24Speaker 1: That's That's what I'm find confusing and hard to believe,
- 3:27Speaker 1: is because Elliott has always stood firm that like what
- 3:30Speaker 1: has happened will always happen, but how does he actually know?
- 3:35Speaker 1: That gets to be frustrating for me as a viewer,
- 3:40Speaker 1: like he's not all telling it, like he doesn't know everything.
- 3:44Speaker 2: I agree with you. There, we get some perspective into
- 3:48Speaker 2: Elliott in this episode. Yeah, I will wait for but
- 3:52Speaker 2: I think speaks to his firm belief that what has
- 3:55Speaker 2: happened will always happen. Yeah, but like it just drives
- 3:58Speaker 2: me crazy where Kat's like try trying to look She's
- 4:01Speaker 2: like talking through it right, like she needs and I'm
- 4:05Speaker 2: the same way, like I need to verbally process yes, and.
- 4:09Speaker 1: I need somebody just to listen to me. Yes, But
- 4:12Speaker 1: like for him to be like, I don't know. I'm
- 4:16Speaker 1: telling you that what happened has always happened, but I
- 4:19Speaker 1: don't know why, like if he would have died or not.
- 4:22Speaker 2: So I just it's a thing. It's a me thing.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Kat's angry with herself that she put Alice through, that
- 4:28Speaker 2: that Alice had to see that accident, and she remembers
- 4:33Speaker 2: Alice was at Colton's funeral and that this is going
- 4:35Speaker 2: to be the last time that young Cat saw Alice,
- 4:38Speaker 2: and she and Elliott are realizing this is going to
- 4:40Speaker 2: be Alice's last trip back. Elliott wants her to tell
- 4:43Speaker 2: Alice that it's over, that they need to move on
- 4:45Speaker 2: and be in the presence. Cut to the opening title.
- 4:49Speaker 1: We come back and Alice and Kat are at home.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Alice tells Kat that Colman's death was her fault because
- 4:55Speaker 1: Kat chose Alice over Colton.
- 4:58Speaker 2: That's what I've written here.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Okay, And she saved her in the street, right, So
- 5:04Speaker 1: she feels guilt. Yes, you know that it was her fault,
- 5:08Speaker 1: not Cat's fault. So Kat tells Alice that they need
- 5:11Speaker 1: to have faith and believe that what happened what has
- 5:14Speaker 1: always happened. She's just reiterating what Elliott has been telling
- 5:18Speaker 1: her this entire time. And we hear a horn honk,
- 5:22Speaker 1: and Cat remembers that Brady's in town to visit, and
- 5:25Speaker 1: Alice is like, I can't deal with him, or I
- 5:28Speaker 1: don't want to deal with She knows what's coming.
- 5:31Speaker 2: She just saw her grandfather die. She needs a minute,
- 5:34Speaker 2: She just needs a minute. It doesn't want to deal
- 5:36Speaker 2: with her dad. Brady's waiting out front, and he asked
- 5:38Speaker 2: Kat how she's been doing, and of course Brady has
- 5:40Speaker 2: absolutely no idea what Kat has been reliving. So he's
- 5:43Speaker 2: just thinking about in terms of their separation really and
- 5:47Speaker 2: he asks if they should do this. He has Kat they're
- 5:51Speaker 2: divorce papers and says, is this the right thing to do?
- 5:55Speaker 2: And then he says, give me a call when you
- 5:57Speaker 2: guys are ready. And I wonder what has Alice have
- 6:00Speaker 2: to do with this? And I it occurred you. We
- 6:02Speaker 2: find out later on that apparently it's like a secret
- 6:06Speaker 2: that they're filing for divorce. You live in another country,
- 6:10Speaker 2: Your daughter is very smart, she knows what's going on.
- 6:13Speaker 2: You're with another woman. Cat is with Elliott at this point. Yeah, Like, oh,
- 6:19Speaker 2: we're gonna surprise we're getting divorced. I don't this is
- 6:22Speaker 2: not the big reveal you think it's going to do. Yeah,
- 6:24Speaker 2: I'm like, why they need this big sit down talk?
- 6:27Speaker 2: Like I think she realizes what's going on. Yeah, and
- 6:31Speaker 2: Brady hasn't been there. I think Cat knows that Alice knows,
- 6:34Speaker 2: and Brady feels like they need to have like a
- 6:37Speaker 2: I would hope that Callice knows like callous.
- 6:40Speaker 1: I mean whatever, Yes, it's stupid, yes, stupid detail on
- 6:44Speaker 1: this storyline. First, it was not needed.
- 6:48Speaker 2: All the extra subterfuge, like, yeah, the divorce papers I
- 6:51Speaker 2: think are a nice button on this season.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Next thing, we have Cat and dellan and are in
- 6:55Speaker 1: the kitchen and don't let's to know who was honking.
- 6:57Speaker 2: That would be me, who's honking out front.
- 6:59Speaker 1: So then they move on to talk about Byron's sudden departure,
- 7:04Speaker 1: and here it is, Kat asks who's going to take over.
- 7:07Speaker 2: The Harald I wrote with Wendy Wright question mark, I'm
- 7:09Speaker 2: telling you, well, who knows?
- 7:12Speaker 1: I m'd be right for next season, But it's still
- 7:16Speaker 1: is very unclear to me, like why Byron just bounces Like,
- 7:20Speaker 1: of course we don't have any closure with him. In
- 7:23Speaker 1: this episode, you mentioned like you don't think we're fully
- 7:26Speaker 1: done with him.
- 7:27Speaker 2: And maybe we're not. I didn't, but we'll get there, okay.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Dell is annoyed that Byron has left, and Kat reminds
- 7:35Speaker 1: her that she's the one who showed him the road,
- 7:38Speaker 1: which what's quite funny.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Yeah, and Dell says, easy to leave when the road
- 7:43Speaker 2: gets tough, and I liked Kat's line, you showed him
- 7:45Speaker 2: the road?
- 7:45Speaker 1: Yeah, and then right after Kat says it, Dell makes
- 7:48Speaker 1: this like smirk.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought it was great Kat checks in on
- 7:51Speaker 2: Alice and lets her know that Brady is back at
- 7:53Speaker 2: the hotel. And Alice is looking through the family almanac
- 7:57Speaker 2: for Colton's funeral date, and they find a pay where
- 8:00Speaker 2: Jacob has sketched his little Jacob and Cat logo in
- 8:03Speaker 2: the almanac. And I did, in this moment, think like, oh,
- 8:06Speaker 2: that's interesting, Like when did that happen? Right, It's just
- 8:09Speaker 2: kind of such an obvious pointed moment. Yeah, Alice wants
- 8:13Speaker 2: to go back and be there for the funeral, and
- 8:14Speaker 2: she wants Cat to come with her, and we see
- 8:17Speaker 2: them jumping in the pond together, and in this moment,
- 8:20Speaker 2: I wonder, how cold is that pond water every time
- 8:23Speaker 2: they have to jump into it fully clothed, well like
- 8:25Speaker 2: in real life? Yes, well, this is what I was thinking.
- 8:28Speaker 1: I recently went on a WB back tour. Oh yeah,
- 8:33Speaker 1: and they had this pond there and the person was
- 8:35Speaker 1: telling us that like they fill it up with warm water,
- 8:38Speaker 1: that the pond has these heaters underneath it, so when
- 8:42Speaker 1: they fill it up, it has warm water for when
- 8:44Speaker 1: your actors jumped into it. But with this I don't know,
- 8:47Speaker 1: I mean, it could be just jumping in because they
- 8:50Speaker 1: make it look so cold, not a real pond or
- 8:52Speaker 1: jumping into it. I think it's a pool, sure, in
- 8:56Speaker 1: a sound stage somewhere. I like this saying because this
- 8:59Speaker 1: is everything Cat has wanted for so long. She wants
- 9:02Speaker 1: Alice to want her, and I think, as a mother
- 9:06Speaker 1: of a teenage daughter, I've felt very like, that's all I.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Want for my own daughter. Yeah, she wants her to
- 9:12Speaker 2: love her as a mother as much as she loves Cat,
- 9:15Speaker 2: her young best friends.
- 9:18Speaker 1: We find young Elliot. He's looking at his window. I
- 9:20Speaker 1: think from what I called the treehouse. I don't know, Oh,
- 9:24Speaker 1: I always call it the barn. Are they in a barn?
- 9:26Speaker 2: Isn't it that big barn?
- 9:28Speaker 1: I think it is a barn like upstairs. But for
- 9:31Speaker 1: some reason, I couldn't remember last night when I was
- 9:32Speaker 1: taking my notes if it was a treehouse.
- 9:35Speaker 2: I think it's a barn. I think you're right.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Alice comes in and Elliott's been crying. He's said about
- 9:41Speaker 1: Colton's death, and he remembers that he's built this space
- 9:45Speaker 1: for them, and he tells Alice it will mean a
- 9:47Speaker 1: lot that she's there for the funeral, and she's soaking wet,
- 9:51Speaker 1: and she tells him that she needs some clothes, and
- 9:54Speaker 1: she wants him to bring her some options, which Elliott's
- 9:58Speaker 1: super annoyed by this request. He calls her like demanding
- 10:02Speaker 1: and so on and so forth. But we know as viewers, like,
- 10:05Speaker 1: she needs clothes for her mom. Yes, she's not letting
- 10:09Speaker 1: young Elliott know that adult Cat is there.
- 10:12Speaker 2: Yeah, blows tiny mind. Yeah, he says, I'm only doing
- 10:15Speaker 2: this for Cat, and I thought, yeah, you are. Well. Actually,
- 10:19Speaker 2: we see young Cat and Brady and Dell arrive at
- 10:23Speaker 2: the funeral, and it's it's really striking to see just
- 10:27Speaker 2: Cat and Dell. You know, there's no Colton, there's no Jacob.
- 10:31Speaker 2: Alice an old Cat approach together Cat, but Alice leaves
- 10:35Speaker 2: Cat behind the bushes. Cat stays in the shadows, but
- 10:39Speaker 2: she's very much in the open here God, And at
- 10:42Speaker 2: this moment, we just see the family and Elliott. In
- 10:45Speaker 2: my notes, I say, no, Rita, but give it a
- 10:49Speaker 2: second because I'm just taking notes in real time. Cat
- 10:52Speaker 2: really looks broken here, and Doug is a nice speech
- 10:55Speaker 2: about Colton and what he loves. And right in the
- 10:56Speaker 2: middle I write, oh, there's Rita, and Jude and Joyce
- 10:59Speaker 2: are there as well. Dell calls Colt in their north storm,
- 11:02Speaker 2: and we see Cat crying behind a tree, and Dell
- 11:06Speaker 2: spots her and just has this long moment like she's
- 11:10Speaker 2: trying to make sense of who this woman is. Cat
- 11:13Speaker 2: doesn't even make an attempt. She just stands there sobbing
- 11:16Speaker 2: very openly. She should have did that, You know that,
- 11:19Speaker 2: Homer Simpson meme. We're getting And this is where Dell
- 11:25Speaker 2: assumes she's the other woman. I want to comment on
- 11:27Speaker 2: this because you had asked in a previous episode you,
- 11:31Speaker 2: for a long time have positive cats the other woman.
- 11:33Speaker 2: We now have proof. We knew that, but we'd have
- 11:36Speaker 2: the proof, And you said, but if delsa cat, wouldn't
- 11:40Speaker 2: she know? And here's the thing. If I would like
- 11:43Speaker 2: to think if I see my daughter twenty three years
- 11:45Speaker 2: from the future in front of me across the field,
- 11:49Speaker 2: that I would recognize her. But it's how do you
- 11:53Speaker 2: make sense of that when your actual daughter standing right
- 11:56Speaker 2: next to you. Even if you think, wow, that woman
- 11:58Speaker 2: looks like my child, she gonna make the leap. She's
- 12:01Speaker 2: a time traveler from the future.
- 12:02Speaker 1: You're not gonna make the leap to a time traveler.
- 12:05Speaker 1: But I think there would be some sort of mother's instinct.
- 12:10Speaker 1: It would make your hair stand up on the back
- 12:12Speaker 1: of your neck. I think there would be some sort
- 12:14Speaker 1: of something.
- 12:16Speaker 2: And that this goes back to the easiest explanation is
- 12:19Speaker 2: that Colton was having an affair. The easiest explanation for
- 12:21Speaker 2: Dell in this moment is that's the other woman. Everyone
- 12:24Speaker 2: approaches Dell to comfort her, and we see Cat, and
- 12:26Speaker 2: Cat is coming to another realization another it was me.
- 12:30Speaker 2: It was always me moment, Well, how is she not
- 12:33Speaker 2: there yet? Okay? So I have been thinking about this
- 12:35Speaker 2: because I made a comment later on that Cat's always
- 12:38Speaker 2: the last person to get there, right. The bike was her.
- 12:42Speaker 2: She caused Colton's accident. She's the woman at the funeral,
- 12:45Speaker 2: which she should have realized once the support group was happening.
- 12:50Speaker 2: But I think the reason they give Kat this device
- 12:55Speaker 2: is because they need the viewers to get there in
- 12:58Speaker 2: that moment. If you're not picking up what they're putting
- 13:01Speaker 2: down ahead of time, they need to kind of provide
- 13:04Speaker 2: that oh moment for the viewers, and Kat is kind
- 13:08Speaker 2: of an unfortunate vehicle there.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Next thing, we're back in present day and Elliott walks
- 13:12Speaker 1: into the point and he sees Brady sitting there. You
- 13:13Speaker 1: can see Elliott kind of like like stops and like
- 13:17Speaker 1: has a moment of like should I turn around a
- 13:19Speaker 1: walk out? And Brady calls him over to sit down.
- 13:23Speaker 1: And at this point, like I hate Brady like so much,
- 13:26Speaker 1: Like I just feel like he's holding court there a
- 13:28Speaker 1: little bit, like come on over, dude, I just really
- 13:32Speaker 1: dislike this character.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Monica asks what to get them, and of course their
- 13:36Speaker 1: orders are very Brady and very Elliott, and Elliott is
- 13:40Speaker 1: almost like, so Elliott to spite Brady absolutely, even if
- 13:43Speaker 1: Elliott would normally drink a.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Lot day, He's like, I'll have a house coffee black. Yeah.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Brady tells Elliott that he knows he has feelings for
- 13:51Speaker 1: a cat and always has, and that the divorce papers
- 13:54Speaker 1: have been served and now that you know that's done,
- 13:57Speaker 1: he can have her basically, which I was like, you
- 14:01Speaker 1: are such a jerk. Yeah, And he goes on to
- 14:05Speaker 1: tell him that he was actually threatened by Elliott as
- 14:08Speaker 1: a teenager because Elliott was smart and he's the one
- 14:12Speaker 1: that Kat turned to when Kat was feeling hurt and
- 14:15Speaker 1: during the hard times, and Elliott's like, I didn't make
- 14:20Speaker 1: that connection when we were teenagers, but.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Yeah, you were such a Dick, you never acted to threaten? Yeah, exactly?
- 14:28Speaker 2: Is that where the scene ends? I mean, Elliott kind
- 14:31Speaker 2: of tries to shrug it off and he's like, yeah,
- 14:32Speaker 2: we were kids. Then he quotes Curereguard, which is just
- 14:35Speaker 2: so funny to me because Elliott is clearly the smarter
- 14:38Speaker 2: of the two. Like Brady's success we know is based
- 14:41Speaker 2: on nepotism, based on his family's connections, and Elliott is an.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Actual smart dude here right, And I thought, I can't
- 14:49Speaker 1: remember the quote, but it was fitting for the moment.
- 14:52Speaker 2: In two thousand and we get Alice thanking Elliott for
- 14:56Speaker 2: all of his help, and she says, Hope, I didn't
- 14:58Speaker 2: ruin anything for you. I just wanted to be a
- 15:00Speaker 2: part of this world. She tells him how important he
- 15:03Speaker 2: is to her in the present day, which I think
- 15:05Speaker 2: is really lovely, and Alice watches everyone get in the
- 15:08Speaker 2: car and go. Not one of those weird scenes. No
- 15:11Speaker 2: one's like, Ellis, how are you getting home from this
- 15:13Speaker 2: middle of nowhere? Yeah, but I guess you just appear
- 15:15Speaker 2: from the woods. She turns to look at her mom
- 15:18Speaker 2: and both women kind of share this broken hearted moment.
- 15:23Speaker 1: Now here's the thing could Dell have come to the
- 15:26Speaker 1: conclusion that maybe that was Alice's mom hanging back in
- 15:31Speaker 1: the bushes during the you know what I mean, instead
- 15:33Speaker 1: of like the worst.
- 15:34Speaker 2: Oh, Colton was having unfair with this lady.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Like, wouldn't it make more sense that Alice was at
- 15:39Speaker 1: a funeral with a parent, but the parent was clearly
- 15:43Speaker 1: like not welcome because it was a very small group.
- 15:45Speaker 2: So maybe this private moment.
- 15:47Speaker 1: Yes, every funeral I've ever been to, if I hardly
- 15:49Speaker 1: even know the person, I mean full tears of.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Course, people are sharing lovely stories.
- 15:54Speaker 1: It's moving, so like it's not a huge leap to
- 15:59Speaker 1: be like, oh, maybe that's.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Just Alice's mom. Yes, And if my child's best friend's
- 16:05Speaker 2: father had an untimely death, I would be in tears
- 16:08Speaker 2: at their funeral even if I had never met this person.
- 16:11Speaker 2: That's tragic.
- 16:11Speaker 1: Yes, So yes, it was a weird scene. They all
- 16:14Speaker 1: like pile into the.
- 16:15Speaker 2: Car, but poor Alice is left at the great site
- 16:17Speaker 2: by herself, like.
- 16:17Speaker 1: I don't why didn't they invite her to come back
- 16:20Speaker 1: to the house.
- 16:20Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 16:21Speaker 1: We go to a commercial and when we come back,
- 16:23Speaker 1: Cat and Dell a at the kitchen table and I'm
- 16:24Speaker 1: gonna tell you I have become very fond of like
- 16:28Speaker 1: their being in their kitchen. I don't know what it is,
- 16:32Speaker 1: and I will I'm not spoiling anything here. I did
- 16:35Speaker 1: watch the beginning of Ride after this, and they have
- 16:38Speaker 1: kitchen scenes like in this at the top of the episode,
- 16:41Speaker 1: and I'm like, but I miss the Landry kitchen compared
- 16:45Speaker 1: to this one.
- 16:45Speaker 2: It's weird. It's really weird.
- 16:47Speaker 1: It's almost like you grow this like connection where these
- 16:52Speaker 1: people are at, just like with like nine O two
- 16:54Speaker 1: one zero, like them being at the peach pit or
- 16:58Speaker 1: the wal the Walsh home. It's it's the home actually
- 17:01Speaker 1: for me, and I think mostly because like that's something
- 17:04Speaker 1: that I always desired as a child growing up, is
- 17:07Speaker 1: having that like everybody around the dinner table kind of.
- 17:11Speaker 2: Meeting of minds.
- 17:13Speaker 1: Anyway, total side note from me. But they're at the
- 17:15Speaker 1: kitchen table and Delle basically says that, you know, Kat's
- 17:19Speaker 1: being unusually quiet, and Kat goes on and tell her
- 17:23Speaker 1: that she's been thinking about Colton and that she thinks
- 17:26Speaker 1: that Dale's been hanging on to this idea of Colton
- 17:29Speaker 1: having an affair because it makes it easier than the
- 17:32Speaker 1: pain of losing him, and I gotta say, I think.
- 17:34Speaker 2: You said that I did right either her to be
- 17:37Speaker 2: angry than it is to be sad it is. Deale
- 17:40Speaker 2: brushes it off.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Dale Gonnadell but talks about a memory she's recently had
- 17:46Speaker 1: of Colton and it's the evening that he says he's
- 17:51Speaker 1: going to explain everything, but then that ended up being
- 17:54Speaker 1: the night that he died, and Kat asks when did
- 17:57Speaker 1: she remember this? And as veers, we know this. In
- 18:00Speaker 1: the last episode she had this like weird, sort of out.
- 18:02Speaker 2: Of body.
- 18:05Speaker 1: Moment dancing with Colton and like all that all that
- 18:10Speaker 1: I read on Reddit actually people were like, oh, but
- 18:14Speaker 1: did you notice that Colton's hair was more gray in
- 18:17Speaker 1: that scene and they were trying to figure out the time.
- 18:22Speaker 2: That was the most unusual scene I think we've had,
- 18:25Speaker 2: because we have actual time travel, we have memories, and
- 18:29Speaker 2: then we have this scene which is unlike both of
- 18:32Speaker 2: those things, Like it's Dell in the present day having
- 18:34Speaker 2: a visceral memory.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Fulton, right, it was, You're right, the weirdest scene that
- 18:42Speaker 1: we've ever had. Ye Delle brings up the woman at
- 18:46Speaker 1: the funeral and Kat assures her that the woman was
- 18:50Speaker 1: no one of importance, and Delle asks it if it's
- 18:55Speaker 1: okay to just let all that stuff go now, and
- 18:57Speaker 1: I'm like, all of this lead up to this, like
- 19:00Speaker 1: mystery woman at the funeral, where Kat now has an
- 19:03Speaker 1: understanding that it was her, and Delle's like, let's just
- 19:08Speaker 1: you know, Dell has for weeks just wanted to leave
- 19:10Speaker 1: the past in the past. So her asking Cat in
- 19:14Speaker 1: this moment, like can we just like put an into
- 19:17Speaker 1: it and finally let it all go? And they agree,
- 19:20Speaker 1: Cat agrees. Cat heads off to bed, and Dell pulls
- 19:24Speaker 1: out the business card from the grief group, which twenty three.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Years later, Kat gave it to her last week.
- 19:32Speaker 1: I know, but does she think that this grief group
- 19:36Speaker 1: is still a meeting twenty three years later?
- 19:38Speaker 2: You know, I made the wrong assumption about this when
- 19:41Speaker 2: she looked at the card. I thought she was going
- 19:43Speaker 2: to go all investigative journalist and try and track down
- 19:45Speaker 2: this woman. And see that's not at all what she does. Dell, Yes,
- 19:50Speaker 2: we'll talk about more.
- 19:51Speaker 1: Yeah, Alice is up in her bedroom and she's looking
- 19:53Speaker 1: at what I wrote down as Colton's funeral paper. I
- 19:56Speaker 1: don't know, program I was like, what what is that called?
- 20:00Speaker 1: It was real late when I watched this last night,
- 20:02Speaker 1: and she has this memory of him telling her that
- 20:06Speaker 1: she was a singer, not to let that go. She's
- 20:08Speaker 1: looking at the guitar. She has this like moment, this epiphany, yes,
- 20:15Speaker 1: that she's gonna now go on and do other things
- 20:17Speaker 1: with the singing.
- 20:19Speaker 2: And we cut to what I think might be the
- 20:20Speaker 2: next day. It's unclear. Alice arrives at the point and
- 20:23Speaker 2: she's asked Spencer if the roxy is still looking for
- 20:25Speaker 2: people to play at the opening, and he says yes
- 20:27Speaker 2: and tells her how excited he is, that how much
- 20:30Speaker 2: she's looking forward to catering it, and that the appetizer
- 20:34Speaker 2: he made the night he made dinner for Alice's on
- 20:36Speaker 2: the menu, and thank you for this full circle moment, writers,
- 20:39Speaker 2: because impop Zoe and says you made Alice dinner? And
- 20:42Speaker 2: she gets this look like what is happening? And I
- 20:45Speaker 2: say here we go. They're interrupted by Brady who wants
- 20:50Speaker 2: a coffee, and Spencer can't get out of there fast
- 20:53Speaker 2: enough and bounds it all over it. We get no resolution,
- 20:57Speaker 2: but we do get another look from Zoe like, what's
- 21:00Speaker 2: happening now?
- 21:02Speaker 1: I just had a reaction as you were reading that,
- 21:04Speaker 1: because I think it was last week ID read before
- 21:06Speaker 1: I called Zoe Chloe. Yeah, and last night I called
- 21:10Speaker 1: her Sophie.
- 21:14Speaker 2: I cannot remember her name. And when I was writing
- 21:17Speaker 2: down Chloe, I was like, no, that's not right, it's Sophie.
- 21:20Speaker 2: It's actually Zoe. I'm sorry, my apology. I just don't
- 21:25Speaker 2: know why I.
- 21:26Speaker 1: Was such a brain blog when it comes to her
- 21:29Speaker 1: and the next thing, Ellie. It's reviewing his own notes
- 21:32Speaker 1: about time traveling, and I had to watch this scene
- 21:35Speaker 1: over and over again. What I gather are these were
- 21:38Speaker 1: notes that he had taken as a teenager about the visits,
- 21:43Speaker 1: and he was checking off the last one of the funeral.
- 21:48Speaker 2: Okay.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Kat walks in and tells him that the woman that
- 21:53Speaker 1: Dell had suspected about the affair was actually her, and
- 21:57Speaker 1: his response was perfect. I was super dry and like,
- 22:00Speaker 1: okay taking that in. Yeah, just phenomenal acting by Evan Williams. Here,
- 22:07Speaker 1: Kat wonders what the point of time travel is if
- 22:10Speaker 1: there's nothing to be changed from it, and she's going
- 22:14Speaker 1: on and on about her being the root of all problems,
- 22:17Speaker 1: and he's just like enough, stop and she here apologizes
- 22:23Speaker 1: that he has to be a part of this whole thing.
- 22:27Speaker 1: You know that his life was disrupted by this too,
- 22:30Speaker 1: and she promises that she will try to let go
- 22:33Speaker 1: of the past, and then they kiss.
- 22:35Speaker 2: Yeah, but don't forget that. Elliott has a moment where
- 22:38Speaker 2: he's like, I am the only one in all of
- 22:41Speaker 2: this who has known my future since the past. I
- 22:46Speaker 2: think that comes later. It's both times. Oh really, he
- 22:49Speaker 2: brings it up. He's like, I am the only one
- 22:51Speaker 2: who has known all of this and Ket she's not
- 22:54Speaker 2: listening to him. Yeah, she's not listening to him. And
- 22:59Speaker 2: later on and she seems very surprised. We'll get to you.
- 23:01Speaker 2: But he brings it up, and I wrote, that is
- 23:03Speaker 2: a perspective that I hadn't yet really thought about. Now,
- 23:08Speaker 2: that's an interesting perspective. Since he was fifteen years old,
- 23:11Speaker 2: he's known a good portion of the trajectory of his
- 23:15Speaker 2: life and of cats as well, right, And I wrote,
- 23:18Speaker 2: Elliott's a sucker for cat. After they kiss at the
- 23:21Speaker 2: kitchen table, adult Brady is telling Kat that Alice is
- 23:26Speaker 2: going to be singing in a concert. And this is
- 23:28Speaker 2: one of those moments where he's like really trying to
- 23:31Speaker 2: be the parent. She's like, I know, dude, yeah, I
- 23:33Speaker 2: don't need you to tell me what our kid's doing.
- 23:35Speaker 2: And that was a personal reaction there, and Alice is
- 23:40Speaker 2: really nervous about it, and Brady wonders if this is
- 23:43Speaker 2: a good time for their dun dun dun chat and
- 23:46Speaker 2: Alice is like, y'all, we don't need to have a talk.
- 23:48Speaker 2: I get it. This is for the better. She bounces,
- 23:50Speaker 2: She gives them the old I'm fine and goes upstairs.
- 23:54Speaker 1: Yeah, she's upset and annoyed, and Cat runs after her
- 23:57Speaker 1: and they have like this moment and she says, like
- 24:00Speaker 1: he wants to go.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Back to the two thousands. Well, first, she says, divorce
- 24:05Speaker 2: is nothing compared to what my friend cats.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Right, that's right, that's right. And you know in this scene,
- 24:11Speaker 1: Kat goes says something like.
- 24:14Speaker 2: I know it was me.
- 24:15Speaker 1: Yeah I thought that was such a rude response. Yeah,
- 24:20Speaker 1: Like it was like rude. So Alice runs out basically, well.
- 24:25Speaker 2: Don't forget that. Tell me. She wants to go to
- 24:28Speaker 2: the pond, but Cat's like, you never came back. Right.
- 24:31Speaker 2: Alice doesn't want to believe this, and she's upset and
- 24:33Speaker 2: she's like, why didn't you tell me? And she's insistent
- 24:36Speaker 2: on trying, and we get two back to Vack scenes.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Here we get present day Dell pulling up to the
- 24:40Speaker 2: grief counselor's house. It's a quick scene. We cut away
- 24:44Speaker 2: to Alice emerging from the pond. We don't know where.
- 24:48Speaker 2: She's peeling off her wet clothes, sees the farmhouse and says,
- 24:51Speaker 2: when am I right now? Let me go back to
- 24:55Speaker 2: Dell pulling up to the grief support house.
- 24:58Speaker 1: Do you think I know? Later on, she says, I
- 25:01Speaker 1: went to the house. It's not my thing, Like the grooves,
- 25:04Speaker 1: I personally think that Dell went to see who opened
- 25:08Speaker 1: the door, if it was the same woman she saw
- 25:11Speaker 1: at the funeral.
- 25:12Speaker 2: So that's a good point. When I said earlier, I
- 25:15Speaker 2: made the wrong assumption. I meant I thought Dell right
- 25:18Speaker 2: wanted to see if this woman or maybe someone involved,
- 25:22Speaker 2: maybe this woe would have some insight into Colton's actions.
- 25:26Speaker 2: But I took her at face value later on when
- 25:28Speaker 2: she says, I went to the grief support group. But
- 25:30Speaker 2: your point is a good one.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Yeah, we don't get any any inside like what happens.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Did she go to the door, does she not go
- 25:37Speaker 1: to the door, does she meet the person?
- 25:38Speaker 2: Does she not like, yeah, it is Dell the biggest
- 25:41Speaker 2: mystery of all in this show. Right.
- 25:44Speaker 1: So, like you said, Alice is at the farm, but
- 25:46Speaker 1: she she's looking around, it's clearly not wintertime anymore.
- 25:50Speaker 2: There.
- 25:50Speaker 1: To me, it was like springtime, like we were in
- 25:52Speaker 1: a completely different, different time frame.
- 25:55Speaker 2: I mean it was obvious to me. Yeah, And the
- 25:57Speaker 2: car parked and the driveway tells me it's much more
- 25:59Speaker 2: present day then it went. And she's like, when am I?
- 26:02Speaker 2: Oh mean that's good.
- 26:04Speaker 1: She approaches the house and she can hear Dell telling
- 26:06Speaker 1: Rita to let it go, but Rita is pleading with
- 26:09Speaker 1: her that she needs Cat there, she needs her family
- 26:12Speaker 1: now now that Jacob has been finally declared dead. Dale
- 26:16Speaker 1: tells her she's fine, and she regrets showing Rita something.
- 26:20Speaker 1: Of course, we realize later that it's the letter to
- 26:24Speaker 1: Cat and Alice, which makes me super nervous, goes into
- 26:29Speaker 1: the actual house because watching them talk, and I was like,
- 26:32Speaker 1: how can they not see her?
- 26:34Speaker 2: How can they? I hear somebody come in? I rite
- 26:36Speaker 2: Alice breaks and enters to Evestrom.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Oh my god, it distresses me. Out of course that's
- 26:42Speaker 1: not going to happen. She's watching them talk and they're
- 26:47Speaker 1: talking about the letter that was mysteriously sends a cat
- 26:50Speaker 1: way back in episode one. So now we know that,
- 26:54Speaker 1: like Alice is in present day but a few months, yeah,
- 26:58Speaker 1: prior very recent past, yes, and you know we see Dell.
- 27:03Speaker 1: She throws the letter away and they leave the kitchen
- 27:06Speaker 1: and Alice goes and digs the letter out of the trash.
- 27:10Speaker 1: I mean here obvious to me, I was like, oh,
- 27:12Speaker 1: Alice is the one who sent the letter. We get
- 27:15Speaker 1: confirmation of that a little bit later in the episode,
- 27:17Speaker 1: but I was like, Okay, I don't know why.
- 27:21Speaker 2: We didn't think about that. There were a lot of
- 27:23Speaker 2: things happened in this episode that I never thought of. Yeah.
- 27:26Speaker 2: I had two things in all caps from that scene. One,
- 27:29Speaker 2: Rita's like, don't you think it's time you meet your granddaughter? No?
- 27:33Speaker 2: And I wrote she's never met Alice in all caps,
- 27:36Speaker 2: which I don't know.
- 27:36Speaker 1: That I knew that, Yeah, because when they actually come
- 27:40Speaker 1: in episode one, was there this.
- 27:42Speaker 2: Like I think she has like an I'm your grandmother
- 27:45Speaker 2: moment I can't recall. And then I also wrote does
- 27:47Speaker 2: Alice mail the letter, which of course she does. After
- 27:51Speaker 2: the commercial, we see cats signing the divorce papers at
- 27:54Speaker 2: the kitchen table, and she looks a little sad, but
- 27:56Speaker 2: there are no tears. It's just kind of like the
- 27:58Speaker 2: end of an era, letting it go. And in walks Alice,
- 28:02Speaker 2: fresh from her recent mass time travel. Kat asks if
- 28:05Speaker 2: she saw a young cat, and Alice says the pond
- 28:08Speaker 2: took her where she needed to go, not where she
- 28:10Speaker 2: wanted to go. In walks Brady, happy to see his girls,
- 28:13Speaker 2: and I roll my eyes at this. He gives Alice
- 28:16Speaker 2: a hugs, says they're going to be fine. He'll see
- 28:18Speaker 2: you at the concert. Kat gives him the completed papers,
- 28:21Speaker 2: and Brady says, I love you both, and he leaves,
- 28:24Speaker 2: and Kat heaves a sigh of relief. And I'm gonna
- 28:26Speaker 2: be honest if we don't get much Brady. I like
- 28:29Speaker 2: this actor me too, which is a bummer, but I
- 28:32Speaker 2: hate his character and the way young Brady behaves and
- 28:37Speaker 2: the way adult Brady behaves, especially toward Elliott. You're an adult,
- 28:42Speaker 2: let's let it go. I just so unlikable. I don't
- 28:46Speaker 2: like the contentiousness of it. So I will be okay
- 28:50Speaker 2: if we don't get a lot of Brady, which I
- 28:52Speaker 2: think we might not. Well.
- 28:54Speaker 1: Also, In this scene, there's no follow up from Cat.
- 28:58Speaker 1: When Alice goes it didn't take where I wanted to go,
- 29:00Speaker 1: but where I needed to go. There's nothing like Kat goes, well,
- 29:04Speaker 1: what's that supposed to mean? Right? I would be like,
- 29:06Speaker 1: what are you talking about? Like, give me the details
- 29:08Speaker 1: you went where? Instead like me too?
- 29:10Speaker 2: No follow up nothing did you find Jacob? Yeah? Did
- 29:14Speaker 2: you find Jacob?
- 29:16Speaker 1: And the next time, we're still in present day and
- 29:17Speaker 1: Alice is playing her guitar and she's up in the
- 29:20Speaker 1: barn slash treehouse and Dale walks in says she heard
- 29:24Speaker 1: Alice singing from like I don't know, downstairs, out in
- 29:26Speaker 1: the farm whatever, and she hasn't been up there in
- 29:29Speaker 1: a really long time and tells Alice how Colton built
- 29:32Speaker 1: in for the kids, and she says, I heard a
- 29:34Speaker 1: rumor that you're going to be singing Out the opening
- 29:37Speaker 1: of the Roxy, Alice is super happy about it, says
- 29:40Speaker 1: she has to keep the landry singing tradition alive, and
- 29:43Speaker 1: Dell here wishes that Colton could have heard his granddaughter sing.
- 29:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:47Speaker 2: We cut to the opening of the Roxy. We see
- 29:49Speaker 2: Spencer serving, Monica, and Kat talk briefly. Monica brings up Brady,
- 29:54Speaker 2: but Ket just says she's gonna head over and see
- 29:56Speaker 2: mister Elliott. And things are clearly not all right with
- 30:00Speaker 2: Cat and Elliott because all Kat can talk about is
- 30:02Speaker 2: how nervous she is for Alice, and she asks him
- 30:04Speaker 2: to hold her hand, but they kind of get interrupted
- 30:07Speaker 2: by the bell ringing to bring them into the theater,
- 30:09Speaker 2: and they don't appear to hold hands. The opening song
- 30:13Speaker 2: is by a man called JJ and the pillar is
- 30:16Speaker 2: called Way Home, and no, I do believe that is
- 30:19Speaker 2: actually JJ and the Pillar singing on stage based on
- 30:21Speaker 2: the photo of them I saw, all right. Yeah, And
- 30:24Speaker 2: during this song, which is a cool song, actually Kat
- 30:27Speaker 2: catches Alice from the wings and she catches her eye
- 30:30Speaker 2: and Alice is looking around a little bit nervously, and
- 30:32Speaker 2: then we see Brady finally show up, and everyone kind
- 30:35Speaker 2: of relaxes because he's shown up for his daughter, and
- 30:38Speaker 2: Elliot rolls her eyes when re enjoins them in the audience.
- 30:43Speaker 1: Look, I think if you are co parenting, it is
- 30:46Speaker 1: nice that you have both parents show up and they
- 30:49Speaker 1: just sit next to each other and like, and.
- 30:51Speaker 2: They're not making it more awkward for their daughter by
- 30:53Speaker 2: not speaking yea and not being excited for her in
- 30:56Speaker 2: this moment.
- 30:58Speaker 1: Yeah, so I'm a little bit by Elliott here in
- 31:01Speaker 1: this scene, mostly because like be supportive of like their situation, Like,
- 31:05Speaker 1: I know you hate Brady, but this.
- 31:07Speaker 2: Is what's best for Ali, right exactly. Alice takes the
- 31:11Speaker 2: stage to big cheers, and she looks as terrified as
- 31:13Speaker 2: she did in the opening scene of this show. Another
- 31:16Speaker 2: great callback. I think she sings, you know, the opening
- 31:19Speaker 2: bars of a song, pauses again, really mirrors that opening
- 31:23Speaker 2: pilot episode, and then she kind of relaxes and she says,
- 31:27Speaker 2: you know, this song wasn't the right one, and she
- 31:30Speaker 2: starts over by singing Colton's song, and Hanny McDowell just
- 31:35Speaker 2: acts her ass off. She's right, I have chills right now. Yes,
- 31:39Speaker 2: she's blown away, having this moment of like I can't
- 31:42Speaker 2: even begin to imagine what she's thinking. Like, first of all,
- 31:44Speaker 2: here's the song that the love of her life sang
- 31:46Speaker 2: to her, and how special it was. But her granddaughter
- 31:49Speaker 2: is singing it and that alone is a lot. But
- 31:52Speaker 2: how does Alice know this song. Dell's really going through it.
- 31:56Speaker 2: Kat's having a moment too. She kind of checks in
- 31:58Speaker 2: on Dell. Well, let me just say, Sadie Snow can
- 32:01Speaker 2: sing and she's really good. There's just a lot of talent.
- 32:03Speaker 2: In this caust we learn that Evan Williams also sings
- 32:05Speaker 2: as well, not in the show, but he should.
- 32:08Speaker 1: No, his song is featured at the end of the fil.
- 32:10Speaker 2: Is it well, I'll get to it, but he himself.
- 32:13Speaker 2: Elliott is not singing, is what I mean? Elliott's not singing? Yes,
- 32:16Speaker 2: Evan Williams is so I love they're playing it. Yes,
- 32:18Speaker 2: Del cries what appears to be happy tears. Cat and
- 32:21Speaker 2: Brady squeeze each other's hands, and Kat and Elliot share
- 32:24Speaker 2: looking again. Elliott back off. This is not the Cat
- 32:29Speaker 2: not being their moment for you that you think it
- 32:32Speaker 2: is right, And then there's big a pause that the
- 32:34Speaker 2: enemy cut to a commercial.
- 32:35Speaker 1: I gotta tell you when they're watching Dell in this
- 32:39Speaker 1: kind of full realization of things that are happening, I'm wondering,
- 32:44Speaker 1: like because like you see so many emotions like I'm
- 32:47Speaker 1: you're right. Annie mcdella is such a fantastic job in
- 32:50Speaker 1: this scene, Like you see that she's stunned, she's elated,
- 32:53Speaker 1: she's confused, like she's having all these feelings while watching
- 32:57Speaker 1: and I was like.
- 32:58Speaker 2: Give me more, give me more? Does she does Dell know?
- 33:02Speaker 2: Does Dell know?
- 33:03Speaker 1: That's what I need to know? And I think that's
- 33:05Speaker 1: still very much an unanswered question. We come back from commercial,
- 33:10Speaker 1: We have cats. She pulls up to Elliott's house and
- 33:12Speaker 1: he's like collecting sticks in the yard, which I was like,
- 33:15Speaker 1: is that a thing you do on farms?
- 33:17Speaker 2: Like maybe it's firewood, like kindling for his fireplace. Okay,
- 33:22Speaker 2: I don't know. I wrote Elliot collecting sticks? Question Mark
- 33:25Speaker 2: would question mark? Oh yeah.
- 33:27Speaker 1: They chitchat about Alice and her performance and Brady being there,
- 33:31Speaker 1: and she asks like, why didn't you come over to.
- 33:34Speaker 2: The house last night?
- 33:35Speaker 1: And she lets him know that she has signed the
- 33:38Speaker 1: divorce papers, and I feel like she has a really
- 33:41Speaker 1: nice moment here. She tells Elliott that she doesn't take
- 33:44Speaker 1: him for granted and that he means so much to her,
- 33:47Speaker 1: but he wants to have a talk about that.
- 33:51Speaker 2: He says yikes. He says, I've been a spectator of
- 33:55Speaker 2: my whole life. That everything was set in stone before
- 33:58Speaker 2: he could live it. And I think we talked about
- 34:02Speaker 2: this earlier, but I think this is part of why
- 34:05Speaker 2: he rides hard for everything that is going to happen
- 34:09Speaker 2: has already happened. I think because of his own experience.
- 34:13Speaker 2: He says, I can make my own choices. Now I
- 34:15Speaker 2: feel free. And this is a really beautiful breakup speech,
- 34:20Speaker 2: but it's also very heartbreaking. And Kat doesn't seem to
- 34:23Speaker 2: get where he's going. Mm hmm. She says, I get it,
- 34:26Speaker 2: and I write Kat is never one step ahead. Elliott
- 34:30Speaker 2: says he loves her, but he has to start fresh,
- 34:34Speaker 2: and he wants her to understand where he's coming from.
- 34:37Speaker 2: And Kat definitely does not understand, like this is our moment.
- 34:41Speaker 2: I'm here for you, I'm telling you, I'm giving you
- 34:44Speaker 2: my heart.
- 34:45Speaker 1: I don't understand either. This is a man who has
- 34:49Speaker 1: wanted this woman his entire life since he was a teenager,
- 34:53Speaker 1: and now that that whole, like everything he has known
- 34:58Speaker 1: to happen, has finally happen, he does not want to
- 35:02Speaker 1: pursue anything further with her.
- 35:04Speaker 2: I agree with you. And unless Elliott knows more than
- 35:09Speaker 2: we write, he's kind of at the end of what
- 35:12Speaker 2: he knows, right, so his future is unwritten. He does
- 35:16Speaker 2: get that chance, why not make it with Kat. We'll
- 35:19Speaker 2: get to a moment where I think it's actually advantageous
- 35:23Speaker 2: that they have this breakup at the very end, I'll
- 35:25Speaker 2: explain why. Oh okay, But behind the scene, a version
- 35:28Speaker 2: of Time after Time is playing. That's see Evan Williams
- 35:31Speaker 2: song Oh Bright World is his band. When I shazammed it,
- 35:35Speaker 2: it said, oh Bright World music. Evan Williams Bright World
- 35:39Speaker 2: the solo project of actor singers, So he is that
- 35:41Speaker 2: is him, and Elliott cries and when he takes off
- 35:46Speaker 2: his glasses to wipe his eyes, I'm a bit of
- 35:48Speaker 2: a goner. Really, Yeah, I don't know. I just was
- 35:52Speaker 2: kind of mad at him in this scene. I felt
- 35:54Speaker 2: that emotion too. I felt for both of them. I
- 35:58Speaker 2: think Elliott has been put in an an unfair position
- 36:02Speaker 2: throughout all of this, and I think he just wants
- 36:06Speaker 2: some control and he doesn't feel like he has any
- 36:08Speaker 2: of it. And I think kat is in this woman
- 36:11Speaker 2: coming to him saying, like, I sign the divorce papers
- 36:13Speaker 2: and I think co parenting's really gonna work out, and
- 36:15Speaker 2: he's like, none of this is in my control. I
- 36:17Speaker 2: had to wait for you to be done with Brady,
- 36:20Speaker 2: and I had to wait for that story to be over,
- 36:23Speaker 2: and I'm constantly waiting and I don't have any control,
- 36:26Speaker 2: and I just don't think he likes it, Like I
- 36:29Speaker 2: am on everyone else's.
- 36:30Speaker 1: Timeline, but I think he's making a bad decision here,
- 36:34Speaker 1: Like I feel like he's cutting his nose off despite
- 36:37Speaker 1: his face.
- 36:38Speaker 2: That's exactly the line I see your face wondering if
- 36:41Speaker 2: it is. Also, I thought, well, how are you gonna
- 36:43Speaker 2: do this? Because this is a very small town, so
- 36:45Speaker 2: you're just gonna I think they live very close to
- 36:48Speaker 2: each other too, mm hmm, So you're just going to
- 36:53Speaker 2: see other people while seeing Kat and Alice everywhere you go. Yeah,
- 36:56Speaker 2: I don't understand. And he was close to Dell prior
- 36:59Speaker 2: to right, so many questions.
- 37:02Speaker 1: Next up, we have Dell, Kat and Alice in They're
- 37:05Speaker 1: sitting at the kitchen table and Dell asks Alice about
- 37:09Speaker 1: the song and like where she learned that from, and
- 37:13Speaker 1: Alice says it's something that Kat taught her as a child,
- 37:17Speaker 1: which is a nice cover up. Yes perfect Here. DL
- 37:19Speaker 1: says she went to the support group but that it
- 37:22Speaker 1: wasn't her thing, and she tells Kat sorry for being
- 37:25Speaker 1: lost in her own grief and why she wasn't there
- 37:28Speaker 1: for her as a teenager. And I was like, this
- 37:31Speaker 1: is what we've been waiting for between these two forever.
- 37:35Speaker 1: Now they have well, Kat has some clarity I think
- 37:39Speaker 1: about it wasn't her fault, yes, but it.
- 37:42Speaker 2: Wasn't them blaming her. Yes, that's it that caused their distance.
- 37:47Speaker 2: It was less about her and they were just stuck
- 37:50Speaker 2: in their own reave.
- 37:51Speaker 1: And there's something like a teenager is not going to
- 37:54Speaker 1: understand that, no, right, I'm your child show up for
- 37:58Speaker 1: you know, teenagers are one wonderful but incredibly self centered,
- 38:03Speaker 1: like they are the center of their world. So I
- 38:06Speaker 1: don't think the teenage cat would have had the ability
- 38:09Speaker 1: to think right. And I have to say, like Dell, yes,
- 38:13Speaker 1: she did not show up for her child, but a
- 38:15Speaker 1: lot of parents don't a lot of people are selfish
- 38:18Speaker 1: as adults, and even without this tragedy, right, So, it
- 38:23Speaker 1: was nice that they finally had this moment. I just
- 38:25Speaker 1: wish that it wasn't such like a blip.
- 38:28Speaker 2: You wanted more, you wanted like a big emotional But
- 38:31Speaker 2: that's not dope.
- 38:32Speaker 1: I know, I know, but I was happy that they
- 38:35Speaker 1: finally did it. And she goes on to say how
- 38:37Speaker 1: her heart is full now that they are back in
- 38:40Speaker 1: her life, and like, I'm telling you, this is like
- 38:43Speaker 1: the most, like vulnerable, like we've seen Dell be with Cat,
- 38:48Speaker 1: and she's you know, expressing how happy that she's there
- 38:52Speaker 1: with them, and Kat says that she's thankful that Delle
- 38:56Speaker 1: sent that letter, and Delle's like, I swear it was amazing.
- 38:59Speaker 1: And now this flashback of Alice leaving the farm putting
- 39:05Speaker 1: the letter in the mailbox, the mailbox outside their home
- 39:10Speaker 1: where she dropped it in like a blue postal box.
- 39:14Speaker 1: I don't know, it was just funny. So now we
- 39:16Speaker 1: know confirm that it was Alice who a sent the letter.
- 39:19Speaker 1: This is the countdown to the end.
- 39:21Speaker 2: So Finn the dog comes in and he's soaking wet,
- 39:23Speaker 2: and Dell's like Finn and he has a ball and
- 39:28Speaker 2: this comes at you real fast and furious. So Dell says,
- 39:30Speaker 2: he just can't stay out of the pond. And in
- 39:32Speaker 2: this moment, Kat has a memory of Jacob saying, I
- 39:36Speaker 2: saw that dog again, and he plops the baseball on
- 39:38Speaker 2: the table much like the one Finn has just dropped
- 39:40Speaker 2: at their feet, and we get another memory of Cat
- 39:44Speaker 2: dropping Jacob off at home after the carnival, and we
- 39:47Speaker 2: hear after she sends them into the house and she
- 39:50Speaker 2: by the way runs off into the woods again, which
- 39:52Speaker 2: is such a bizarre choice, but we hear the dog
- 39:54Speaker 2: barking in the background. Cut to present day Cat. She
- 39:57Speaker 2: has a memory the Almanact from early where they see
- 40:00Speaker 2: the Jacob and Cat logo. She runs to the family
- 40:02Speaker 2: almanac and she sees that the page right before that
- 40:05Speaker 2: is torn out, but she's more focused on a quote
- 40:07Speaker 2: on the side of the page that says the explorer
- 40:10Speaker 2: found a home, but he still looks to the stars
- 40:13Speaker 2: when he feels lost. A lot of questions here. We
- 40:15Speaker 2: get another memory Jacob and Kat looking at his glow
- 40:18Speaker 2: in the dark stars as children, and Jacob saying, did
- 40:20Speaker 2: you know the explorers used to look to the stars
- 40:22Speaker 2: when they got lost? In comes Alice to Kat looking
- 40:26Speaker 2: at the almanac and ask what she's doing and I apologize.
- 40:29Speaker 2: So this is when we have the memory of Cat
- 40:31Speaker 2: running away after dropping Jacob off, but we get that
- 40:34Speaker 2: moment continuing. Jacob goes out the front door and he
- 40:37Speaker 2: chases the dog running back to the pond. He chases
- 40:41Speaker 2: them right up to the edge of the pond and
- 40:42Speaker 2: we see Finn jumping in. We don't see Jacob go in,
- 40:46Speaker 2: but we do hear a splash. Cat tells Alice back
- 40:50Speaker 2: in present day, Jacob chased Fin to the pond on
- 40:52Speaker 2: the night Cat saved him, and in comes Dell asking
- 40:55Speaker 2: what is going on, and Kat turns and says, I
- 40:58Speaker 2: know what happened to Jacob. A tidle secrets on the
- 41:01Speaker 2: screen that says Port Haven, New Brunswick, eighteen fourteen. And
- 41:06Speaker 2: here's this opening scene again of the woman running through
- 41:10Speaker 2: the woods. And there's been a lot of speculation about
- 41:12Speaker 2: who that woman is. And I will say that we
- 41:14Speaker 2: never speculated this. We see everything that we saw and
- 41:18Speaker 2: from behind, knowing what I know now, and like, that
- 41:20Speaker 2: looks more like Alice's hair than Dell's hair. I agree, yes,
- 41:23Speaker 2: And then they swing around to the front and it's Cat, Yes,
- 41:27Speaker 2: with incredibly long hair now, and she says, I'll be
- 41:30Speaker 2: back for you, Jacob. I promise, and into the pond
- 41:33Speaker 2: she goes. I have so many questions. I came this morning.
- 41:39Speaker 2: I was like, you're gonna have to explain this me.
- 41:42Speaker 2: But I don't think we have any of the answers.
- 41:44Speaker 2: So question one is how long has she been there?
- 41:46Speaker 2: Right in the past? We don't know, But because her
- 41:49Speaker 2: hair is so long, my feeling is she's been there
- 41:51Speaker 2: a long time, but how does that affect present day?
- 41:53Speaker 2: That's the other thought I had is if she's been
- 41:56Speaker 2: there for a long time, a year two for her
- 41:59Speaker 2: hair to be grown out like this. Again, I'm leaning
- 42:01Speaker 2: heavily on the hair because I feel like it's an
- 42:03Speaker 2: important detail. What's happening in present day? Where's Alice? Because
- 42:09Speaker 2: has she just left her daughter behind?
- 42:13Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 42:13Speaker 2: I don't know. Now, you and a previous episode had said,
- 42:16Speaker 2: are we just going to keep traveling to different time
- 42:18Speaker 2: periods now? And you know you really didn't want to
- 42:23Speaker 2: a back to the future three situations? Yes, but I'm
- 42:25Speaker 2: not sure that we had really envisioned this, had you
- 42:29Speaker 2: her spending time in eighteen fourteen?
- 42:31Speaker 1: No, And I got to tell you at the end
- 42:33Speaker 1: of the episode last night, I was like, I've enjoyed
- 42:36Speaker 1: revisiting the nineties in the early two thousands. I don't
- 42:39Speaker 1: know if I want to visit eighteen fourteen.
- 42:43Speaker 2: Interesting. And then the other thing I said earlier, I
- 42:46Speaker 2: think it's fortuitous that Elliott has ended this relationship because
- 42:50Speaker 2: Kat isn't done with the past. The second she realized
- 42:54Speaker 2: what happened to Jacob, we knew she wasn't going to
- 42:57Speaker 2: be able to resist going back to the pond. We
- 43:00Speaker 2: have the same insight into her experiences in the past
- 43:02Speaker 2: as we do about Alice's right, I think we can
- 43:05Speaker 2: assume that the pond took her to eighteen fourteen. But
- 43:09Speaker 2: is Jacob living there as a child? But that lots
- 43:11Speaker 2: of questions, tons of questions.
- 43:14Speaker 1: I'm excited for season two, but again, I don't know
- 43:17Speaker 1: if I want to, Like, I mean, we're just gonna
- 43:19Speaker 1: totally lose our fun noticed in the ninety segment.
- 43:22Speaker 2: Yes, we are going to have to redo our segments
- 43:25Speaker 2: for season two. I have one more question. Yeah, why
- 43:29Speaker 2: doesn't Dell recognize Alice? That's a good question. Your daughter's
- 43:36Speaker 2: best friend twenty three years from now reappears in your life.
- 43:40Speaker 2: Alice had a significant impact on their life. Is it
- 43:44Speaker 2: just the trauma of the time she doesn't have access
- 43:47Speaker 2: to those memories. Well, I think I.
- 43:49Speaker 1: Recall from an earlier episode this season, Kat asking Dell,
- 43:53Speaker 1: do you remember my friend Alice?
- 43:55Speaker 2: And Dell is like not really, hmm, that sounds familiar.
- 43:58Speaker 1: But she was there quite a bit, and why can't
- 44:01Speaker 1: Dell remember that?
- 44:02Speaker 2: And late we have these scenes like we had last
- 44:05Speaker 2: episode where it's just Dell and Colton and Alice, and
- 44:08Speaker 2: Alice is at the funeral with a handful of other people.
- 44:13Speaker 2: Seems to me, I would remember everyone at my husband's
- 44:16Speaker 2: funeral if there's only seven people there, right, So Dell
- 44:20Speaker 2: might be the biggest mystery and all of them. I agree.
- 44:23Speaker 2: I agree. You were gonna mention something about Byron Well,
- 44:27Speaker 2: I had said last episode, I don't think we're done
- 44:29Speaker 2: with Byron, But in this episode, Byron bounces, and then
- 44:33Speaker 2: when we get to the end of the episode, I'm
- 44:37Speaker 2: very curious to see how these characters are we gonna
- 44:40Speaker 2: spend more time in eighteen fourteen. Is it going to
- 44:43Speaker 2: be like a back and forth situation like we've had
- 44:45Speaker 2: I hope so. I really like the contrast of the
- 44:48Speaker 2: present day in the past. I'm very curious if Kat's
- 44:51Speaker 2: going to be spending an extended period of time in
- 44:54Speaker 2: the past. Maybe. Well.
- 44:57Speaker 1: This is another thing too, is like if we're not
- 44:59Speaker 1: going to be revisiting in the nineties anymore, how sad
- 45:02Speaker 1: that we're not gonna have those We're not gonna see.
- 45:04Speaker 2: Those characters, those actors anymore. We're never gonna see Colton again.
- 45:07Speaker 1: Maybe not, which really bumps me out. I really like
- 45:10Speaker 1: Jefferson Brown. I would love to see him in a
- 45:13Speaker 1: something else. All those actors who played the younger versions
- 45:16Speaker 1: I thought were great, Like, we're not gonna see them anymore.
- 45:19Speaker 2: Well, and if we get Jacob back, are we going
- 45:21Speaker 2: to get him back in twenty twenty three? So Dell's
- 45:25Speaker 2: going to be raising this eight year old nine year old.
- 45:27Speaker 1: Jacob's not coming back to twenty twenty three, I don't think.
- 45:30Speaker 2: But if they get him back at all, are they
- 45:33Speaker 2: going to return him to the nineties.
- 45:35Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 45:36Speaker 1: It's too much for my brain to compute. I'm dying
- 45:40Speaker 1: to be in the writer's room. I would love to know,
- 45:42Speaker 1: like what they're doing here.
- 45:43Speaker 2: Well, I just want to say I thought this was
- 45:46Speaker 2: a very satisfying season finale. Yes, I agree, so many
- 45:50Speaker 2: open threads that I had kind of forgotten about. I'm
- 45:53Speaker 2: glad they touched on the Zoe Spencer of it all right,
- 45:58Speaker 2: They're not leaving things hanging?
- 46:00Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, no, I felt like, Okay, thank you for
- 46:04Speaker 1: answering those things.
- 46:05Speaker 2: Now we have opened up this other new portal. Yes,
- 46:09Speaker 2: there was enough answered to get me excited about season two.
- 46:14Speaker 2: I wonder when season two will come out you think
- 46:16Speaker 2: next year? Well, someone asked and on an official Hallmark
- 46:19Speaker 2: one of the social media accounts, and they said, we
- 46:21Speaker 2: don't have a release date. Yeah, so we don't know
- 46:25Speaker 2: the answer of that. But this was a great time.
- 46:27Speaker 2: I loved recapping this show. Yeah, this was a great show.
- 46:30Speaker 2: As of the recording of this episode, I have not
- 46:33Speaker 2: watched even a second of Ride. I've watched ten minutes maybe,
- 46:38Speaker 2: so we're going to get into that later this week.
- 46:40Speaker 2: But thank you for listening to this episode. We hope
- 46:42Speaker 2: you loved these recaps. We've really enjoyed doing them. As mentioned,
- 46:46Speaker 2: we'll be back with our recap of the brand new
