- 0:00What the hell is this? Anacondas. Is snakes out there this big?
- 0:05This skin is three or four years old.
- 0:08Whatever shed it has grown since then. But something like this has made a meal
- 0:12of our dear captain. What?
- 0:15Snakes don't eat people. Oh, they don't?
- 0:19Anacondas are a perfect killing machine. They have heat sensors.
- 0:24A warm body like Mateo's. In the water, It wasn't hard to find.
- 0:29They strike, wrap around you, hold you tighter than your true love,
- 0:35and you get the privilege of hearing your bones break before the power of the
- 0:39embrace causes your veins to explode.
- 0:43Imagine something is big to capture a lie. It's worth a lot of money, Gary. Jeez.
- 0:50Hey, everybody. Welcome back to another exciting episode of Citizen Frame.
- 0:55Now, we are talking running man.
- 0:58Soon we're not we're not delaying it like we did with well everything final destinations,
- 1:04everything else no we are definitely getting to it i'm looking forward to it
- 1:07we thought it'd be a good time though because anaconda 2025 came out and i like
- 1:13to go to a movie once a week just to give the biz some some money and as a fanboy
- 1:19i am like my routine and there was really nothing else to go to. Yeah.
- 1:23It's John DeWater. So, yeah, we decided to go see Anaconda 2025.
- 1:28Now, I'm a big fan of the original.
- 1:30So, as you all know, I love my creature features.
- 1:34And so, what better way to start off before we do the Running Man reboot and the original?
- 1:40Let's talk Anaconda and technically the reboot within the reboot.
- 1:44And so, what we're going to do is we're going to talk Anaconda and then we're
- 1:48going to give you a small review on what we saw yesterday at Anaconda 2025.
- 1:54It won't be as in-depth as what we usually go through, but it,
- 2:00In all fairness, neither was there a script.
- 2:04I think they basically watched Tropic Thunder, took notes, and then basically
- 2:10ran with it with Anaconda.
- 2:13All right, so we're going to jump into Anaconda here. Anaconda,
- 2:17directed by a guy I really enjoyed some of his stuff.
- 2:19He's kind of not retired. He left Hollywood. He decided just to work in South America.
- 2:25He's Perugian. Is it Perugian? Peruvian. He's Peruvian? Is he Peruvian?
- 2:30Okay. He's from Peru? Yeah.
- 2:34From Peruvian? He's Louis Lusol.
- 2:38Apologize if I'm butchering that. He did a film that was fucking awesome. And I want it badly on 4K.
- 2:45It takes place in South America in the jungle. So he's used to that kind of surroundings.
- 2:51And it is a wonderful, wonderful film. Tom Berenger. It's called Sniper.
- 2:57Anyone who's listening to this podcast will watch Sniper because we'll definitely
- 3:02get to it it's so fucking good I haven't seen it but I quite like Tom Barringer
- 3:06it's Tom Barringer Billy Zane that's it right there's nobody else in it it's
- 3:11about a sniper and his target his target no no he's good,
- 3:15sidekick whatever they call a sniper sidekick,
- 3:18and how they're in the jungle and they have to take one shot,
- 3:22but it's so intense and so good and
- 3:26he also did a film called The Specialist didn't do as well but it was a big
- 3:30budget film and I think that was kind of the film that pushed him away from
- 3:33Hollywood which was called The Specialist with James Woods, Sylvester Stallone
- 3:38and Sharon Stone good cast.
- 3:41I remember The Specialist yeah he did that one and then he left he does a lot
- 3:45of yeah like I said a lot of South American film and some stuff but good on him.
- 3:49It's too bad he never came back because in my eyes he's three for three but uh,
- 3:54we'll kind of jump into what went wrong with anaconda and the funny thing is
- 3:59you know what i don't think there's
- 4:01anything wrong with anaconda the movie cost about 45 million to make.
- 4:05And which seems like a lot when you see the film but i
- 4:08guess the animatronic snake and the cgi
- 4:11they did have to use again this is cgi in not
- 4:14edits it's still it's a better both
- 4:17it's still fairly young cgi and it
- 4:20cost like a hundred grand per five seconds for the snake or
- 4:24something like that that's nuts and but fortified estimate but it made 65 in
- 4:29the u.s plus all together worldwide 138 million so it's not yeah it was a commercial
- 4:35success yeah it was a commercial hit but to this day the funny thing is i think
- 4:40movies need to be re-reviewed and that's why i kind of like doing in this podcast.
- 4:44I've changed my thoughts on films, both ways. I used to like it growing up as
- 4:49a kid, now I hate it, or vice versa.
- 4:52And I'll tell you what, this has got a 4.9 on IMBD. That's not fair.
- 4:57I think that, you know, at different points in our lives, we will view films
- 5:03and different works of art with different eyes, and we will take away something different from them,
- 5:10you know, with different ages and at different points in our lives.
- 5:13So, I mean, certainly with Anaconda, I would give it a six at least.
- 5:19Yeah, I'd be a little higher, but I like creature features a lot.
- 5:23And the only difference is,
- 5:25Besides Jon Voight, I think most of the actors were playing this dead straight.
- 5:31And that's the one little flaw with the film.
- 5:34But let's just jump into it.
- 5:36We got a decent little cast. Jon Voight, we'll call him Baby Bird.
- 5:42Baby Bird. Baby Bird Paul. J-Lo as Terry. Owen Wilson as Gary.
- 5:48Eric Stoltz, Dr. Kale. Ice Cube as Danny.
- 5:52Danny Trejo as, well, he's just fucked.
- 5:54Yeah, he just blows his brains out at the start. That's what I would have done.
- 5:58Jonathan Hyde, who I like as Warren, and Carrie Werrer as Denise.
- 6:03She's beautiful. I love Carrie Werrer.
- 6:06Yeah. I like the opening scene. I like, we all know what the snake looks like.
- 6:11We see it in the trailers, but they never saw you the snake right away.
- 6:15No, they're never going to. Yeah.
- 6:17That's the right way. Yeah, exactly. What if it's not the snake?
- 6:20Maybe that's a misdirect.
- 6:21And we see Danny Trejo. And I do like the shot where they have the snake cam.
- 6:27So it's just slightly above the water as if the snake's popping up just above
- 6:31the water to check out the, you know, the surroundings.
- 6:34So they use that quite a bit and it works.
- 6:36One thing the film does right, and I mentioned this with Sniper a second ago,
- 6:39that he's used to filming in this kind of terrain.
- 6:42And this shows with this film, because him being from South America.
- 6:47Like I said, he knows the terrain, but he shoots really well.
- 6:50And when it's dark, you can see everything crystal clear. So he knows how to
- 6:53use lighting in this kind of terrain.
- 6:55When it's raining, he knows how to use the right camera.
- 6:58Underwater shots are beautiful. They're really nicely done and bright.
- 7:01So the DP and the director certainly know how to place the camera in this kind of terrain.
- 7:08I will say one thing. he has, while the CGI versions of the snake aren't,
- 7:15you know top standard but I say one thing they have the balls to actually show
- 7:22it during daytime scenes because a lot of times films when they know they have
- 7:27ruby CGI they will basically or special effects or whatever,
- 7:31they will basically make it featured during a nighttime scene so that they can
- 7:37sort of get away with certain things, but they have the balls here to give us it in broad daylight.
- 7:43Yeah, and that's what I applauded for. And most of the shots are with this animatronic snake.
- 7:47And this animatronic... It's not hidden? It's not hidden. This snake's in the
- 7:51whole film. Which I applauded for that.
- 7:53And the CGI could be a little... Some really cool CGI moments,
- 7:57like the waterfall scene I really like.
- 7:59But it's funny, but it works.
- 8:02But the snake is actually in the... I think it's the LA Film Institute.
- 8:07They actually have the actual snake in an exhibit that they used.
- 8:13The practical marking, obviously.
- 8:15And you know the practical is silly. It was still cool.
- 8:18Yeah, I mean, for what this is, you know, a sort of tongue-in-cheek sort of
- 8:24B-movie creature feature, it totally works for me.
- 8:29I think the problem is, like you sort of referenced earlier,
- 8:32I think that the memo wasn't given to some of the actors that this is a bit
- 8:36of a tongue-in-cheek, you know, nudge and wink to the audience,
- 8:39like J-Lo and Ice Cube and, you know, Eric Stoltz and stuff who are playing at Dead Straight.
- 8:45Yeah, that's really only the minor thing I have with the film, believe it or not.
- 8:50I mean, it's an hour and 29 minutes, and it doesn't overstay its welcome.
- 8:54And I applaud films like that. Some of them just fucking just end.
- 8:59And the movie starts off right away. It doesn't stop from there.
- 9:03There's no data dumping.
- 9:05It's just quick, quick, quick. We're on the river. Yeah, we're on the Amazon.
- 9:10And so they do a little nod to Jaws with this one because an anaconda's eyes
- 9:15are actually round like a shark's.
- 9:18Yeah. And what they decided to do was give it slant, you know,
- 9:22a slant pupils because it comes off more villainous.
- 9:27And this is what Steven Spielberg did with Jaws.
- 9:30He deliberately made the Jaws eyes the same. Well, because he wanted the shark
- 9:36to be more villainous looking when he did see the eyes.
- 9:39And so they, they changed the, what a shark actually would look like.
- 9:44Yeah. Which I didn't know. So there you go. And you know, anacondas do not attack
- 9:48people. They usually, well, they won't unless they're, they're provoked.
- 9:51I wouldn't fancy pumping into one. Let's just say, regardless of whether they attack people or not.
- 9:57I'll tell you what, you know, I, I, as what everyone knows in this podcast,
- 10:01I'm terrified of snakes.
- 10:03And this one, it wasn't because it's fake. You clearly know it's fake. and I enjoyed it.
- 10:09The scariest part for me is when they blew up the wall in the river and the
- 10:14actual snakes they used. Those things creep me out.
- 10:17Yes, they're like the baby snakes, basically. Baby snakes, yeah.
- 10:20And they're the ones we see some of them earlier on when John Voight is back
- 10:25to your mother, back to your mother. Yeah, yeah.
- 10:29Oh my God. But yeah, the genitreal thing I thought was fun because he's just
- 10:35a poacher and this is the time with Dan Trail really wasn't Danny Trail yet.
- 10:39And he...
- 10:42There's a shot where all this scene was pretty much to show you how powerful this creature is.
- 10:49And he's in the little cabin of the boat trying to hide from it.
- 10:53And the thing's bopping up the boards. And there's a nice slow motion shot with
- 10:56all the nails coming out of the board.
- 10:58The fly up, yeah. That fly up in the air as it stuns Danny Trejo.
- 11:02He's like, fuck, I got to get out of this cabin.
- 11:04And he crawls up to the crow's nest of the boat.
- 11:07And then we know the snake's just wrapping itself around the crow's nest as
- 11:11it's coming to him. and he takes his own life, which I would have done too.
- 11:14There's no way I'm not getting fucking swallowed.
- 11:16Well, it tells that there is a serious threat here where you would rather blow
- 11:20your own brains out than be basically eaten and then regurgitated, as we see later on.
- 11:26And this is why I reflect a bit. This is why we're talking about Anna Conner's
- 11:292025 talk, and I don't want to jump ahead about 2025, but this is the one thing
- 11:34this film does, right? It shows you peril, and it has casualties.
- 11:37Well, the other one, you don't get that.
- 11:40I know. And that's the flaw. of Anaconda 2025, and we will certainly dive into that at the moment.
- 11:46Now, I feel sorry for Eric Stoltz. He gets fired from fucking Back to the Future,
- 11:49and then in this one, he's in the opening scenes, and then he gets bitten by
- 11:53a wasp in the throat, and then he's off camera now the rest of the movie.
- 11:58Well, I think there was something maybe going on there. I don't know all the details,
- 12:01but it appears that maybe he was only, and I could be completely wrong here,
- 12:06but I sort of got the sense that maybe he was only available for certain days
- 12:11during the shoot, so they had to come up with something.
- 12:14They didn't want to lose him, so they had to come up with something where he
- 12:17would basically be off screen for a lot of the time
- 12:20i don't know but i did get that sense yeah
- 12:23because he's kind of a get yeah oh you know at
- 12:26this time he was more of a character actor he was a lead actor in the 80s but
- 12:30then he kind of went more you know really fun cameos like pulp fiction would
- 12:35be a perfect example yeah indie films yeah indie stuff nothing wrong with that
- 12:39at all i like it he was in one i remember which was very much Tarantino-esque,
- 12:44but it wasn't Tarantino, although I think he might have produced it.
- 12:46I know what you're talking about. Killing Zoe.
- 12:48That's a great film. It wasn't Tarantino. It was Lawrence Bender,
- 12:52who's producer, who's Tarantino's producer for. Yeah, I think Tarantino might
- 12:55have been executive producer or something.
- 12:57You know, give permission to use his name type thing. It's a French film.
- 13:00No, it's Lawrence Bender. Lawrence Bender is the right-hand man. Judy Delpy.
- 13:06Lawrence Bender is the right-hand man of Tarantino. He produces all this stuff.
- 13:09In the early days, yeah. Yeah, so they said from the producer of Pulp Fiction.
- 13:14Which is Lawrence Bender but yeah it's a really good film you guys should check
- 13:17it out it's about a bank robbery yeah Bankrabby gone wrong yeah.
- 13:22But yeah, so Dr. Cale Stoltz here, he's looking for the Shimmy Shama tribe, the people of the mist.
- 13:28And so he's, and then he hires J-Lo to be the director. Warren is the narrator,
- 13:34the English accent, of course.
- 13:35And Danny is the DP, because I always believe Ice Cube is a director of photography.
- 13:40And then Denise, the production manager, and Gary, the sound guy.
- 13:44It's so funny seeing a young- The third guy, Owen Wilson, I think it is,
- 13:49sticks out as, for me, I think this is, He's the weak point of this film?
- 13:53Yeah, but he gets the best death. And we'll talk about it. Yeah,
- 13:56he does get a good death. Well, Voight gets a good one.
- 13:59That's another thing. Good deaths. Yeah. Good deaths. Memorable deaths. And this was PG-13.
- 14:06Yeah, this was PG-13. It wasn't a R. They had some sound dubs they had to change
- 14:11from Ice Cube from swearing too much.
- 14:13So he says freaking a lot, but he's actually saying fucking.
- 14:16But they wanted a PG, this kind of PG-13. And yet what I saw yesterday was a PG-13, technically.
- 14:22And nothing like this. I know that.
- 14:25This is, you know, there's just a world of difference.
- 14:28I don't know. There's something about films, modern films now,
- 14:31where they don't feel like films.
- 14:34You know, I know, obviously, they're shooting on digital and stuff compared
- 14:38to where they were shooting on film back certainly in the 90s and stuff.
- 14:41But I don't know, this just felt more like an actual movie, an actual film,
- 14:47compared to the new one, which just felt like almost like an episode of a TV show or something.
- 14:53That's pretty much, you're right, it's the digital technology.
- 14:58The digital 10, 4K and all is so crispy clear.
- 15:01It's too crisp and clear. It's too crisp and clear. It's almost like you're
- 15:04watching a Hollyoaks episode or EastEnders or Dallas or Notchland,
- 15:08a TV show, which is how they shoot those. Thank you.
- 15:13Yeah, but anyway, so I've got some bad one-liners.
- 15:17Gary, is it me or does the jungle make you horny? You know, really?
- 15:24Yeah, the dialogue here isn't the best. No, I'm alone with. Oh yeah, you cannot.
- 15:31And then this movie resurrected John Voight. John Voight's career was over.
- 15:36He was gone for quite a few years. He burned some bridges in Hollywood and then
- 15:40he got this role and then it just snowballed. He ends up being the bad guy and everything.
- 15:45And he, and good on him. And this is the same time where I believe Angela Jolie,
- 15:50his daughter, got the Oscar.
- 15:52She was starting to rise as a star, yeah. She just got the Oscar for Girl Interrupted, I believe.
- 15:57Yeah. She was in things like Hackers and stuff. Yeah, she did small roles. The Anaconda.
- 16:04Has a voice. Do you know who does the voice of the Anaconda? No. It's Frank Welker.
- 16:12Oh, yes, sorry. Yes, I did. I heard that. He does the voice of Scooby-Doo and Megatron.
- 16:18That's right, yes. Yes, I did know that.
- 16:21I think it's funny the Anaconda speaks. Well, it doesn't speak.
- 16:24It just goes whatever it does. Yeah, it's not really talking.
- 16:27It's not sentient. Well, maybe it is, but it's not having a chat with them,
- 16:31you know, but at those sort of make noises type things. Snake noises.
- 16:36You know what works for the film? It's when they pick up Paul, who's stranded, right?
- 16:42And the minute they pick him up, they all know he's up to something.
- 16:48Everybody does. They all do. But no, that's what I like about it.
- 16:50They're not dumb. They're not clueless, so they are keeping a watch on him, especially Dr.
- 16:57Kale, who calls him out about the Shishimi tribe when they worship snakes.
- 17:02And we should go this direction. And he says, no, we should go this direction
- 17:06because of this. You're wrong.
- 17:08He knows something's not right here.
- 17:12As an audience member, maybe, you know, I mean, you sort of know fine rightly,
- 17:17you know, but you also know that both these characters are going to get it in
- 17:22really gruesome ways later on, and you're looking forward to it.
- 17:25You know, it's what you expect, and they do give us it.
- 17:29You know, as you would do in the normal circumstances, when it's dark as fuck
- 17:33out, and you're in the middle of Amazon, where all the deadliest creatures live,
- 17:37you take your girlfriend and you go have sex with her.
- 17:40Yeah. What the fuck?
- 17:43When you have a perfectly good, basically, room in the boat,
- 17:47where you get shagged to your heart's content, without the threat of being killed
- 17:53by all sorts of jungle wildlife.
- 17:56But the plot has to be forwarded, I do need some like threat.
- 18:02They do this because they're getting attacked and you think it's the snake but
- 18:06it's not. You can hear it. It's a boar.
- 18:08And Paul shoots it. So this gives Paul like, oh, they need him.
- 18:12You know what I mean? It's kind of like that moment where even though he's up
- 18:15to something, they technically need him.
- 18:17But even J-Lo says something, okay, or he says something like,
- 18:21she says, maybe we shouldn't be fucking in the middle of the night in the Amazon.
- 18:24How's that sound? Yeah. Yeah, well Also, I have to ask See when Eric Stoltz
- 18:30gets it with this insect thing Wasp, yeah Was that set up?
- 18:34Yes By John Voight? Yeah, Paul missed it at the end,
- 18:38Yeah, I thought that. He put the wasp in his mask. He was looking at him offside.
- 18:43He put the wasp in his mask or something like that.
- 18:46Yeah, he was looking at him offside. Yeah.
- 18:48He was too smart, basically, Eric Stoltz, and he would basically have hindered
- 18:54his plans to catch the big snake.
- 18:57And that's what I like about it. It keeps that continuity because when he tells
- 19:01them, okay, we got to get the dock back, we need to stay away from the current and go this way.
- 19:06Makes sense. so they go this way and then there's a wall in what we just talked
- 19:11about the wall there and and it didn't not Denise what's JLo game again,
- 19:17let's call it fucking JLo Terry goes right away you know this like the place
- 19:23like you know this route like the back of your hand you didn't know there's
- 19:26a fucking wall there yeah I mean.
- 19:30All the signs are there although it does play them well and that he actually
- 19:36makes them believe that they also need him for the directions to get Eric Stoltz
- 19:40home, even though we set it up.
- 19:42But also, you know, for things like, you know, saving them from the boar and other things like that.
- 19:48Yeah, he's kind of quite clever actually. Yeah, he's putting him in situations
- 19:52that he's causing but he's doing it to make him look like a hero.
- 19:55I absolutely love the facial expressions of Jon Voight in this.
- 19:59Oh yeah, it looks like he's taking a dump.
- 20:01He's literally queuing the scenery almost you know,
- 20:05he's wincing he's wincing like Clint Eastwood all the time yeah but Clint Eastwood
- 20:09does well he knows the score here you know as an actor he is going full on pantomime
- 20:14villain he literally winks at the audience later on whenever he gets he gets eaten.
- 20:22Yeah it's a very simple story I'm probably really overselling it but I'll tell
- 20:25you what I'll tell you what.
- 20:28I can say I'll hold true to this but people should review this because everyone
- 20:32loves this movie I talk to people oh we love Anaconda but when it came out it just got ripped on,
- 20:38it's like the thing the thing was critically panned now it's like an 8.2 on
- 20:43IMD and the most one most beloved sci-fi films of all time I think people need
- 20:48and that's the only thing good about Anaconda 2025.
- 20:51People might revisit this now and go, you know what? And maybe we will get a
- 20:55sequel. That'd be kind of fun. I'd be up for it.
- 20:58Yeah, a proper sequel to this film, not this reimagined sort of meta new version
- 21:03of the book with Jack Black and Paul Rudd. Nah.
- 21:06But yeah, he... But Paul's... And that's where the movie is.
- 21:10He puts him in this situation but then gets him out. He looks like the hero.
- 21:14He's the one who caused Paul's little bug bite, but yet he's the one who saves him.
- 21:17He's manipulating the situation Yes,
- 21:21He's winning them over He's trying to win them over Yes And by catching the
- 21:26big fish Remember he catches the fish He catches the fish Yes Eye with the spear
- 21:31Yeah That's how I do it Because he's Rambo Yeah That's how I do it,
- 21:36And then go see We go to the poachers You know Danny Trello's place In the beginning
- 21:41And we see this picture Of Mateo I love Mateo He's the driver right And you
- 21:46got Mateo And when Paul comes on the screen,
- 21:49Mateo looks, it's like, dun, dun, dun, dun.
- 21:52Yeah. They look at each other and he's like, oh yeah, they're not linked.
- 21:56It's so obvious. Like, you know, I mean, the camera literally zooms in on his
- 22:00face and he gives it, you know, the sort of weird look.
- 22:03It's the same thing as the dog with the shifty eyes. I know something. Yeah. Yeah.
- 22:08I do like his death because when a snake wraps around him, it moves his neck
- 22:14and then twists him to break his neck.
- 22:16Yes. No one caught that. I just caught that for the first time I've watched
- 22:19it. He actually breaks his neck. It's pretty creepy. Yeah. Yes.
- 22:23Who the hell wants a snake for a pet? The fuck?
- 22:27I know people who keep snakes for pets, and I have been in their houses,
- 22:31and I have allowed the snakes to wrap around my neck and stuff,
- 22:35but obviously they're very tame and safe snakes,
- 22:38and I was just doing it basically for a bit of a laugh but to be honest in the
- 22:43past I've done it and went drunk but yeah I mean generally with creepy crawlies
- 22:48and snakes and all that sort of thing I wouldn't keep them as pets let's just say yeah,
- 22:54not my thing yeah fuck them.
- 22:59So Gary turns I don't know he kind of makes a point he goes we're stuck here
- 23:03we catch the snake we'll make some money out of it we're here,
- 23:07you know, we may as well get something out of it it kind of goes off to,
- 23:13it's a bit of a leap for his character, yeah and it did have a sort of, it's not a big thing,
- 23:19but it did have a sort of a small issue with the fact that, you know,
- 23:24he's sort of portrayed at first as just this horny
- 23:27sort of guy who's kind of harmless, but then all of a sudden he's a complete
- 23:31dick, you know yeah, but he jumps in he sacrifices himself to save Denise So that kind of helps.
- 23:37He has a sort of character arc. Yes. I mean, we got to find something.
- 23:41Self-sacrifice. There you go. But that whole sequence, when they take over the
- 23:47boat, Paul and Gary, and-
- 23:51You got, again, the well shot. You got the fog lights. You got the fog coming in.
- 23:56But everything's so clear. You can see everything crisp. And it's really nicely shot.
- 24:01And it's just the whole setup.
- 24:05Obviously, it's a stage boat and all that kind of stuff. But it's really well
- 24:09done. Even better by today's standards.
- 24:11They just CGI all this crap now. Exactly.
- 24:14Exactly. These days, a large bulk of that would all be just green screen.
- 24:19With actors, you know, acting against nothing, basically.
- 24:23But here, it's all, apart from the Rupi CGI snake in certain scenes,
- 24:29here it's all sort of, it's all real.
- 24:32The creepiest scene in the entire film is Gary's death.
- 24:37And it's when he gets wrapped by the snake and he gets pulled on there and then
- 24:42he comes back up and we have a close up of him wrapped around the snake and
- 24:45he goes, and you can hear him still breathing, like as he's being pulled under again.
- 24:50It's a really creepy shot. But the creepy shot is about a minute after they're
- 24:54talking and Denise is crying because her boyfriend's been eaten by a snake, as you do.
- 24:59And we see the snake underwater, again, clear as fuck, and it's coming toward
- 25:03the camera, and we see its belly.
- 25:05But the belly is the outline of fucking Owen Wilson.
- 25:10His face? I was just about to say that. Yeah. Yeah, it's quite a good effect.
- 25:14I mean, it's not the best sort of realized effect.
- 25:18Oh, come on. It doesn't have to be. The general concept works well.
- 25:21It's the idea of what a snake does.
- 25:23Yes, exactly. That's what I'm talking about. The idea of it that's planted in your head.
- 25:28I love a scene where Terry decides right after Gary's death,
- 25:31she's going to flirt with Paul.
- 25:33Oh, yeah. You can help us. She gets a lipstick on. Yeah. What's the setup?
- 25:37And I do like the fact Paul was onto her. Like, you know what?
- 25:40Fuck off. And he was about to be ambushed by Danny.
- 25:44And he catches on and puts the gun to his face. Fuck off. But we end up,
- 25:48Warren ends up saving the day with the golf club. But that's right.
- 25:52Come on. Do you really think he was, Captain Paul was buying into this shit?
- 25:56No, no, well, he's supposed to be a lot smarter than basically all of them, or certainly craftier.
- 26:03So I doubt he would fall for that, but he doesn't really. You know,
- 26:07he knows something's up.
- 26:09The only one who had a decent little arc was Warren, the narrator.
- 26:15Because when you first meet him, he's got his coach bags, he's got his good wine.
- 26:20And he's a dick. Yeah, he's a dick. He's yelling at the porter. He's an arsehole.
- 26:24Yeah, he's an arsehole. But once he knocks Paul in the head at the golf club,
- 26:29he puts the bandana around his head. He's taking over the boat.
- 26:33He's got balls. He's courage. You know, he's got a lot of courage.
- 26:37He teaches Ice Cube hard to drive the boat and stuff.
- 26:40He's in with them and they're friends, basically. Yes. Yeah.
- 26:43So I do like that. The characters here are okay.
- 26:47Denise and Gary just there for extra body count.
- 26:50Oh, my God. Denise Defts is the best. That is the stupidest.
- 26:54She's going to go stab. Paul because she blames him for Gary's death while the
- 26:58other two idiots are swimming in the fucking lake.
- 27:02And Janice goes up to him and he's tied up. He can't go anywhere.
- 27:05His legs. He does a ninja move. Yeah.
- 27:08First of all, I can't see John Voight doing this. But so she walks up to him with the knife.
- 27:15I'm going to kill you. He's like, oh yeah, baby bird.
- 27:18And he wraps it. He jumps up in the air with his, he's tied behind the pole or something.
- 27:25He does a fucking Van Damme move, and then he strangles her with his legs.
- 27:30Yeah, yeah. And she's like, ugh.
- 27:33Yeah, and then she falls overboard type thing. Yeah, he kicks her over.
- 27:37Yeah. There's a nice shot when the snake goes to apeshit, and this is when Warren
- 27:42gets it. He goes into the UK. He has to climb away from it.
- 27:45Again, courage, because he leads the snake away from them, and he climbs up this waterfall.
- 27:50And then as he jumps out of the waterfall at last minute, because he has no
- 27:54choice, he's got to jump from the waterfall. Snake gets it.
- 27:56The snake comes down, wraps around him. It's a nice shot, actually.
- 27:59He's probably the better of the CGI shots, and wraps around him.
- 28:03The weight of the tree is so heavy, the tree comes crashing down and causes havoc.
- 28:09Then the snake's in there with him. Paul is dead at this point.
- 28:12We see Denise's body floating around as he tries to eat Denise and Ice Cube
- 28:17and Danny at the same time.
- 28:19Takes a really nice little chaos seat.
- 28:22Yeah. And then you got a lot of that cool stuff. And like I said,
- 28:29it's an hour and 29 minutes.
- 28:30The movie doesn't stop. If anyone likes at all a creature feature,
- 28:34there's no way this should be as hailed as it's getting.
- 28:37It works totally for me, for what it is.
- 28:41People need to be less snooty and accept things.
- 28:44You know, there seems to be a lack of understanding as well about what they're trying to do here.
- 28:50Yes, J-Lo's maybe taking it a bit too serious and her acting's a bit ropey,
- 28:53but so what? It's a B-movie.
- 28:55It's about a giant snake attacking people and killing people.
- 28:58Take it for what it is. And you'll enjoy it better I certainly have no major
- 29:04issues with it I did enjoy it and like it.
- 29:08The big showdown. It wasn't a factory. I think it was an old fueling station for boats.
- 29:15Yeah. Yes. Basically, that's what it was. Where they were trying to get basically the fuel.
- 29:21Because don't forget a couple of their barrels of fuel they lost as well.
- 29:25Yeah. And they have to, he pours monkey blood all over him, which is cool.
- 29:34That's bait. Yeah. And then as the snake wraps around Danny and Terry,
- 29:40which is so funny. Come on.
- 29:44But again, you're going with it. You're just having good fun.
- 29:47Jon Voight's like, give me that look.
- 29:49He's going to get you. And then Jon Voight gets it. He gets wrapped around as
- 29:53he's going up the steps. I like that shot.
- 29:55And Jon Voight's death is just creepy. Because it shows you what a snake does.
- 30:01And then you see, they cut it out.
- 30:02There's actually a shot of his eyeball coming out. but they had to remove it.
- 30:06Oh, they cut that out? Oh, that's not good. Yeah. I'd like to see that.
- 30:09Yeah. Because you see, because when he, there's a POV shot within the snake's
- 30:13mouth looking down at, which is actually very good.
- 30:16It's actually quite creepy looking at down at John Voight who's about to swallow
- 30:19him and then it cuts back to John Voight and his eyeball's gone.
- 30:23And then later on, shortly after, whenever he is basically regurgitated and
- 30:28he's got all snake slime and all over him, he winks.
- 30:31Yeah. He winks, he baby bird.
- 30:34It's yeah I mean that's basically Voight you know,
- 30:38literally wanking at the audience saying don't take it too seriously you know
- 30:42having a bit of a laugh here and the chimney shot was really nice when she's trying to get,
- 30:47she's going up she has to jump off she has to jump off when she's trying to
- 30:50get you know and Danny's got to take the pickaxe and stop it through the tail
- 30:55that was clever how to stop it for a bit yeah.
- 30:59And and then when it doesn't give us a final skirt as well it comes back Yeah,
- 31:05and it does, but the whole explosion with the chimney, and then as you see the
- 31:10whole, the explosions here are quite nice, the chimney scene and the dam scene.
- 31:15And so when the chimney blows, then you see the snake on fire too coming out.
- 31:19It's pretty clever. And the snake falls in the water, but the snake's still
- 31:23alive. It goes underneath the water, but then it comes back like a third time.
- 31:28Now there was two of them. Is there a continuity error? There was two,
- 31:31there's two snakes in this film.
- 31:33Yeah. Yeah, because they kill the one at the waterfall. Is that being confirmed? Yes, there is.
- 31:39Because they blow the head off, the first one in the fall.
- 31:44The second one is the one that looks like it's healed and all.
- 31:48It's not. It's a different snake.
- 31:50Yeah. I think it's blacker, that second one. Because it did sort of...
- 31:54I was like, whatever Ice Cube originally stabs it in the head and all the rest.
- 31:58He might shoot it in the head as well, I think.
- 32:01But then... No, she shoots...
- 32:04She shoots it twice in the face, blows its eyes out and shit. Yes.
- 32:07But then it comes back later on. This is a different snake. This is a different
- 32:10snake. That's okay. Yeah. I need that confirmed. Yeah. Okay.
- 32:13Oh, yeah, because that would have been terrible.
- 32:15It would have been bad. Because I was thinking, right, I know this is like,
- 32:19you know, it's all tongue in cheek and all, but come on, a bit of continuity.
- 32:23But yeah, so yeah, I was thinking that it might have been a second snake. So yeah, that's fine.
- 32:28So after everyone's safe, and this is me, just for fun.
- 32:36I wish the director just said, fuck it, let's do this.
- 32:39So as they're sailing back to home, and Dr.
- 32:45Kale is back, and they're looking outside, and there's the Shira Shama tribe
- 32:51that they've been looking for this whole time.
- 32:53He's like, oh, my God, Paul was right. I think it would have been awesome if
- 32:59the shimmy shaman tried to attack them and they were cannibals and cannibal
- 33:03holocaust I was thinking cannibal
- 33:05holocaust anyway for a lot of this and then just like the end yeah,
- 33:11and then they not just cannibalize them they sacrifice them to their snake god
- 33:18the anaconda who they worship or something like that that would be perfect,
- 33:23yeah but this this this brings us to to anaconda 2025 and yeah i'm i knew i
- 33:31was going i was going to go in i knew going in it was going to be bad but i
- 33:34went out going okay it wasn't as bad.
- 33:39The thing is i'm trying to be
- 33:40fair to it in terms of we are not the target audience that's the problem,
- 33:46I thought... It's a family film. Yeah. We went to see this, and they all played
- 33:51animation films before the movie started.
- 33:53All Pixar. Yeah, like Mario and Toy Story 5 and stuff. Yeah.
- 33:57The trailers. I turned to you and I said, oh boy.
- 33:59I knew this was... And then it came up 12A. It was like, oh shit.
- 34:04Was it even a 12A? It was 12A. No, it was 12A. A PG maybe? It was 12A.
- 34:09Was it? Okay. Yeah. So PG in the US.
- 34:13And so right there, uh oh so there it goes maybe that's why Nick Cage didn't
- 34:20want to do it even the audience.
- 34:24Apparently Nick Cage wanted to be a John Voight character, which he would have been perfect for,
- 34:31essentially maybe he would have been the steak wrangler yeah,
- 34:34yeah, but they didn't want to do that and they obviously wanted to go down this
- 34:38route of having a very family friendly, safe,
- 34:43gentle comedy that pertains to be agey but isn't really exactly very very safe.
- 34:49And you know so I don't want to be too harsh because I and certainly I don't
- 34:54think you are the target audience but I it's not the type of film I would be in too let's just say.
- 35:01You know it should have worked really worked well because it's the same it's
- 35:04Tom Cormican who I actually like he's a screenwriter but he also wrote the new
- 35:09Beverly Hills Cop Axl F which I enjoyed but he also directed a film called The
- 35:13Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent which is Nicolas Cage playing Nicolas Cage and it's just like this.
- 35:21It's, and so I thought, my only thing is, and I don't want to say he did,
- 35:26because I don't know if he did or not.
- 35:28Sounds like he might have had a sellout, because there's an edginess to it.
- 35:32To the unbearable weight of massive talent. There's an edginess to it.
- 35:36And it's adult humor, but younger Johnny Race, you can get it too.
- 35:41The problem is, fucking Hollywood needs to understand, people aren't stupid. I know.
- 35:45Kids aren't stupid either. Kids aren't stupid either. Kids can go with,
- 35:48you know, potty mouth once in a while.
- 35:52Edgy stuff. Edgy stuff, you know, American pie, stuff like that.
- 35:55People aren't going to be offended by that anymore.
- 35:57So I don't get why you couldn't give us happy media.
- 36:00Because we're in the audience, and there was a lot of kids there,
- 36:03believe it or not, young teens. Young boys, especially.
- 36:06A lot of boys. Like 12-year-old boys and stuff. And I'll tell you what,
- 36:08in all fairness, the only one laughing in that cinema I heard was me.
- 36:11I laughed at some of the lines. Nobody else was really laughing.
- 36:14I wasn't. Oh, I know. You look scared, actually. I was more eye-rolling.
- 36:20Here's the concept, guys. Now, if you haven't seen Anaconda,
- 36:24who gives a fuck? I'm really not spoiling anything.
- 36:27It is about a group of old friends who get together, who are not happy with
- 36:31their current life situations, and they decide to remake their favorite film
- 36:35from 1997, which is Anaconda.
- 36:38We got Paul Rudd, who plays Ronald. Jack Black plays Doug.
- 36:41Thaddee Newton, who plays Claire. Steve Zahn plays Kenny. good cast.
- 36:45Then you got two characters, Adia and the scene stealer who sounds like was
- 36:49supposed to be played by Nicholas Cates. It's a character called Santiago.
- 36:53He plays the snake wrangler. He's the best in it. He is.
- 36:58It's got some great moments. I think the first half's better than the second half.
- 37:02You say great moments? Yeah. Well, no. I do like when you're introduced to Ronald,
- 37:08who's an out-of-work actor.
- 37:10He's playing this doctor in this scene. and he's so bad at it.
- 37:15And he's trying to do these, like the English accent. He goes,
- 37:18I don't know what accent that was, but try it again, please.
- 37:20And can you speak slower?
- 37:21And the next scene, he's speaking really too slow. The next scene, he's speaking too fast.
- 37:26It's moments like that that I,
- 37:29you know that i like that i really i think paul i think
- 37:32the problem with this is paul rudd has no
- 37:35interest in it overall like a lot of the actors sandy newton as well where they
- 37:41seem to be have you know maybe the original script was a bit more edgier so
- 37:46that's why they signed on but then after it went through all of the studio bullshit
- 37:49and rewrites and stuff they decided you know what this is kind of a waste of our time,
- 37:55but we're contracted to do it, so they're just going through the motions,
- 38:00which was a long-winded way of me saying that.
- 38:03Well, you know, Ronald, who's the actor, Doug, who's the wedding film,
- 38:07the wedding video guy. Whoa. Excuse me, I just burped there.
- 38:12Lovely, right? Well, you know what? You know what? After seeing fucking Anna
- 38:16Connery 2025 and spending about 34 quid to see that fucking movie,
- 38:20I ended up, I had to buy a new a coffee maker and so
- 38:23then i had to take cab home right away because the fuckers
- 38:26in amazon delivered my coffee maker a day
- 38:29early so i was just sitting there on the doorstep and it's the exact same with
- 38:33me yesterday as well i was waiting on boots and bear in mind it was a damp day
- 38:36in belfast and as soon as i got home as expected there was a box of boots just
- 38:41dumped out in in the wet they were all right but you know not that you know
- 38:45amazon give a shit whether they were all right or not.
- 38:49Yeah, and it's not even in a box, like a brown box labeled Amazon.
- 38:54It's a big box. It's the coffee maker box. So people know exactly what they're going to be stealing.
- 39:00If you were a thief and you were walking past, it might as well say on those boxes, please steal me.
- 39:06So I had to pay 18 quid for a cab to get home in time to grab it.
- 39:10Fuck you. I was like, assholes. I don't know if it's a subject here, but.
- 39:15Well. Yeah, I just suppose we are. But yeah, we got Ronald, played by Paul Rudd,
- 39:21who's the out-of-work actor.
- 39:23We got Doug, who's Jack Black. He's the wedding video guy.
- 39:27Claire, she's the divorcee. And Kenny, he's just the idiot. I like Steve Young.
- 39:31I like everyone in it. I have nothing against anybody in it.
- 39:34But this movie was casted not even a few months ago.
- 39:38So this movie was fucking rushed. And yet, it's made its money.
- 39:42The only good thing about making a movie like this, and because it's successful,
- 39:46and here's what I don't like I don't like the fact this is getting a 6.1 in
- 39:51IMBD and the original Anaconda is getting a 4.9, that makes no fucking sense
- 39:55Totally agree, yeah I mean.
- 39:58It just says a lot about movie audiences these days and the expectations and
- 40:03also reviewers, you know like mainstream reviewers and stuff it just speaks volumes,
- 40:08and you know I don't want to be too harsh but it really wasn't for me and I
- 40:14just don't think it worked,
- 40:16on pretty much all levels.
- 40:17Let's talk about a couple of scenes that work and some don't.
- 40:20I want to be fair to it. I'm not going to... I do think...
- 40:23The Squatch, their movie they made back when they were kids was fucking hilarious.
- 40:29That was a bit cringe for me. Oh, no, no. And I think there's a statement there,
- 40:34because I think this film was heavily edited and was, hey, because you need
- 40:40a swearing in this. Come on.
- 40:41I never like films when you put people in peril and they're about to be eaten
- 40:44by a snake and they're going, golly, gee, fuck that. I'm going fucking apeshit.
- 40:49Well, they're literally bleeping it out with this sort of video we made whenever
- 40:53the teenagers I think that's a point that the director was making because they
- 40:56say before they played the quatch video for Doug's birthday he goes,
- 41:02unfortunately this is edited because it was for a school project and we couldn't
- 41:05have all the swearing the school made them do it or something the school made
- 41:08them edit the project so it's funny because it's all bleeping and there's no
- 41:12need for all that swearing anyway but and then even even.
- 41:17Even Ronald says God we really were into Scorsese that year,
- 41:22because they're just consistently swearing and but they edited the project and
- 41:27I think that was a way the director going we could have gave you more but we were told we had to edit,
- 41:33You know, I know you shouldn't be, you know, you should be reviewing what we're actually given.
- 41:40But in a perfect world, this should have been a hard 18 creature feature with
- 41:48loads of gore and a giant snake going about ripping people's heads off and stuff.
- 41:52That would have been a better homage to the 1997 one.
- 41:57Instead, we've got this stupid family film. I do like some of the misdirects,
- 42:01the Anna character. and it's being traced what we think is drug smugglers.
- 42:06But they can't even say that because it's a family film. No,
- 42:10no, no, no. They do. No, no, no, no. That's not fair.
- 42:13That's misjudging it. No, they talk about the gold destroying some of the Amazon,
- 42:19and they end up, they're gold smugglers.
- 42:21And so that's planted. That's okay.
- 42:24And so I do like that misdirect. I do like the fact, Anna, you're kind of rooting
- 42:28for her, but we don't know she's actually the bad guy. The only problem is,
- 42:33once it's revealed, the execution of how it ends is poor.
- 42:37It's stupid? Yeah. I mean...
- 42:40Because it's somebody knocked out. We won't get into every scene. There's no point.
- 42:44They even play on the whole, you know, you piss on your foot for the jellyfish.
- 42:48I think Friends did a whole episode on it.
- 42:51Yeah. It's kind of a myth. I don't know what, but there's a scene where.
- 42:56The jokes don't land. Yeah. The problem is they wouldn't stop.
- 43:00So there's a scene where he gets bit by a spider or whatever.
- 43:04Pee on it. Oh, yeah. I heard you just have to pee on it. And nobody.
- 43:07It goes on for ages and ages. Yeah, it went on, but it's because Ronald goes, my bladder is empty.
- 43:13And Claire goes, I'm in a onesie. That was kind of funny.
- 43:17And Kenny can't pee in front of people. He can't pee in public bathrooms.
- 43:22And he has to sit. I mean, it is kind of funny.
- 43:27And then there's a nice shot where, again, stealing from classics like Deep
- 43:31Blue Sea, where Doug is giving the speech and apologizing to Ronald.
- 43:36And then all of a sudden he gets engulfed by the snake and thrown up in the
- 43:40air and we don't see it coming it's a good jump scare, I heard people in the
- 43:44audience going screaming, it was a good jump scare, but again,
- 43:48the ending of that whole thing is ruined by Doug actually surviving this, it's...
- 43:53I knew it was going to happen, yeah, well they give that away in the trailer,
- 43:57that's the other thing I didn't even watch the trailer for this,
- 43:59but apparently it gives the whole film away.
- 44:01I mean, comedy, it's all about timing and delivery
- 44:05and all of that and I just don't think while some of the jokes in concept are
- 44:11funny like the whole jellyfish pissing thing and stuff and you know the whole
- 44:16later on with Jack Black with the pig's sort of head on top of them and stuff
- 44:19in concept they don't land here because of the delivery and,
- 44:25I felt anyway, you know? No, the problem is the jokes run long.
- 44:30That's the problem. Well, again, it's about timing. Yeah, comedy's all about
- 44:33timing as well. The pissing is funny, but I don't need to watch it for 10 minutes.
- 44:36I know. Yeah. They drag a lot of them out, and it just becomes.
- 44:41Oh, I just get on with it for fuck's sake. Well, I do. You know what?
- 44:45I never fall asleep in the cinema, but I was finding myself drifting off at this.
- 44:49Yeah, the movie's a little long, which is weird. We should be enjoying ourselves.
- 44:54Guys, I know we're ripping on it. It's not terrible. It's not a piece of shit
- 44:57like I thought it'd be, but it's not good.
- 45:00If you're like a 10-year-old boy, you might find it fun. I don't think they would either.
- 45:05I think they were kind of like rolling their eyes. Yeah.
- 45:09I mean, when you're a 10-year-old boy, you want to see creatures eating things.
- 45:11You want to see a creature creature. You want gore?
- 45:14You want gore? And the problem is another problem. Some reviewers I've read
- 45:18on said the problem is the opening setup is fine, but the act when they're actually
- 45:24being attacked there should be some peril there's no peril at all,
- 45:29you know who does this kind of humor right for horror Fright Night,
- 45:33the original Fright Night Gremlins, the original Gremlins Lost Boys,
- 45:37they know how to implement.
- 45:40You could be kitty-like banter, but you can twist the knife in a little bit
- 45:44by changing the genre on you and play, give us some scares.
- 45:49What the fuck is wrong with that? Because there's no scares.
- 45:51There's that one jump scare, which I told you about, which is,
- 45:53you know, that's it, one and done.
- 45:55It just, it didn't know where to go. It didn't know where to go.
- 45:59But there- It was, there are, I think, being fair, some good ideas on paper
- 46:05here, but again, it goes back to the realization and it just,
- 46:10I personally don't think they put it off at all.
- 46:12I think going back to their school project that was edited by the school because
- 46:18of the swearing, I think he does it again here.
- 46:21I think the director felt a little restricted by Sony.
- 46:26And there's a shot where they're in their little boat and they're doing a couple
- 46:30of scenes from Anaconda.
- 46:32And this big, huge, fucking fancy-ass yacht boat comes by and it's an actual film crew.
- 46:38And they're like, what are you doing here? Oh, we're remaking Anaconda.
- 46:42Oh, what? And this is when they find out Ronald was lying. He doesn't have the
- 46:46rights. That he doesn't have the rights. By the way, I saw that coming a mile away.
- 46:49Yeah. But the assistant director says, he goes, really? You're remaking Anaconda?
- 46:57And she goes, yeah, there's no more originality in Hollywood anymore.
- 47:02I think that is also a jab at the studio because there's something going on
- 47:07here where his work went from an R to a PG-13 to a fucking PG.
- 47:13There's no way this was written,
- 47:16Not a little more R-rated. There's no way. I don't know what was going on,
- 47:21but it would not surprise me in the slightest if the studio said,
- 47:25if there was a more edgier, sort of gorier original script of this,
- 47:30and the studio said, no, we want loads of changes to make it family-friendly.
- 47:35That wouldn't surprise me at all. I don't know if that's true or not,
- 47:38but that's certainly what we've got here. A family-friendly piece of nonsense.
- 47:44That, yeah. Well, let's talk about the ending then. Yeah, I will say this.
- 47:49Ben Stiller would have made this better. He did Tropic Thunder.
- 47:52And he did Cable Guy.
- 47:56Both films are edgy, but they're not over the top to where everyone can be offended.
- 48:03It's about knowing what you're doing in terms of comedy.
- 48:08And Stiller knows what he's doing. It's timing and casting. Yeah.
- 48:13There's a lot of elements. Something was wrong here. But let's talk about the
- 48:16ending, the big finale. And I got a big question here.
- 48:19So Ice Cube is back. He plays Ice Cube.
- 48:23And he's on the set of the remake of Anaconda, or the sequel to Anaconda.
- 48:27Yes. And he's the only survivor on the set. It's all destroyed.
- 48:31All of us have been attacked by this big snake.
- 48:32And he comes and makes a cameo. Some funny moments when they want to take a
- 48:35selfie with him. I thought that was kind of funny.
- 48:38You know, again, very far and few between. But it works.
- 48:42And Ice Cube says, well, I'm playing Danny, my character, in the first Anaconda.
- 48:46But I got to go. Why? I got to find Eric Stoltz and Jennifer Lopez. Actors stick together.
- 48:53And Ronald goes, yeah, actors code. Actors code. Actors code.
- 48:56And then he leaves to go save them.
- 48:59Here's what I don't get. At the end of the film, Doug gets a knock on the door,
- 49:03and there's Jennifer Lopez.
- 49:04Good on both of them for showing up, making a cameo.
- 49:08But J-Lo goes, hey, Doug, I saw your work on the Anaconda remake,
- 49:14the one that you weren't supposed to make because you didn't have copyright. right?
- 49:17She goes, yeah, well, we're going to remake Anaconda. No, we're going to do
- 49:21a sequel to Anaconda. We want you to direct.
- 49:23And he faints. Right? He got his big break.
- 49:27But weren't they remaking it? Weren't they doing the sequel...
- 49:30I got the impression that this was, that the one that Ice Cube was in,
- 49:35that they were all massacred at, but we don't see it, sadly,
- 49:37was basically like a remake.
- 49:41And the one that J-Lo shows up at the end was going to be the sequel to their remake. I thought that.
- 49:46At this point, I didn't give a single fuck.
- 49:49That's where I got confused because he goes, I have to go and save my peeps.
- 49:55I have to go save J-Lo and Eric Stoltz, right?
- 49:58Yes. Which she clearly survives because she's in the ending when she goes to see Doug.
- 50:03But she says, we're going to do a sequel to Anaconda.
- 50:07Well, weren't you doing the sequel? Because you were on the set.
- 50:09Because Ice Cube went to look for you. I think she meant the sequel to the remake.
- 50:14I don't care, you know. Okay. I was doing the sequel. Okay.
- 50:17I thought she said, don't lose any sleep over this. I know, but that's a really
- 50:21bad, you know what I mean?
- 50:23It should have been made more clear. Yes. Okay.
- 50:27I don't know. Yeah. I just thought they could have given us a little more gore.
- 50:30I mean, it could have even been funny gore.
- 50:33You know, give us Jesus. Yeah, B-movie.
- 50:36If they had done it in the same tone as the 1997 original with actual...
- 50:44Sort of, you know, tongue-in-cheek sort of gore and silliness.
- 50:49But here we're getting family-friendly, kid-friendly silliness,
- 50:53which just wants me to just bang my head off a wall.
- 50:57Yeah. So there you go. We're not going to talk much more about it.
- 51:01There's no point. It's not offensive. And that's the problem.
- 51:05I didn't hear it. It's just bland. Yeah. You know what I mean? It's not shit.
- 51:10But it's not good. It sort of is shit, to be fair. Yeah.
- 51:14Yeah, I'm surprised you don't like it then No,
- 51:17but There's a certain type This is just bland shit You know what,
- 51:22it is completely That's what I would say, it is completely forgettable It's
- 51:27just You'll forget about it About an hour later.
- 51:31Yeah, well, there you go. So it's up to you if you want to see it.
- 51:35People are going to see it. It's doing well.
- 51:36But again, we were- There's something else you're going to watch anyway. It's January.
- 51:40And that we were surrounded by families and kids' birthday parties, it looked like.
- 51:45So that's who it's for. And that's why they're making their money.
- 51:49And so, you know, fair play. Hopefully, this will get us, because it's doing
- 51:54so well, it will actually get us an actual sequel to Anaconda with the original
- 51:58cast, which I would love to see. I'd be up for that.
- 52:02And bring back the original director he deserves it alright so there you go,
- 52:07massive pass for Anaconda and uh for the reboot sequel slash whatever it was,
- 52:16for the original 97 yes 100% a pass for the,
- 52:21remake-y type thing whatever it is this new one I just don't care you know alright
- 52:27that's it guys we're done that was a special treat for you guys We didn't see that one coming.
- 52:32Anaconda double bill. You're welcome. Like a snake sneaking up on you without your knowledge.
- 52:39Well, not the Anaconda in the 97 one because it talks.
- 52:44Oh, look, here comes the snake. Yeah. Like the Sark in Jaws 4 The Revenge. It screams.
- 52:53It sounds like a lion alright and it's a guy from Scooby Doo does the voice
- 52:59of the snake so what word do you want I was waiting for the snake to go we go ready,
- 53:04Scrappy Doo to pop up oh god no that would be in the that would be in Ataconda 2025,
- 53:10the Scrappy Doo ruined fucking Scooby Doo well here's the thing about Scrappy
- 53:15Doo because I was very small whenever I watched the Scrappy Doo episodes of Scooby Doo that he's in.
- 53:23I always liked Scrappy-Doo, and I've always liked him since.
- 53:26So, I have a soft spot for Scrappy-Doo, and I think he gets a rough ride,
- 53:30but I get why people hate him as well. If you can hate him, ruin Scooby-Doo.
- 53:34I get it, but at the same time, when I first discovered Scrappy-Doo as a young boy, I liked him.
- 53:41Alright, next up, guys, Running Man.
- 53:44Running Man? Plural? Running Man. Well, those are going to be two separate podcasts.
- 53:50Because they're, You know, there's a lot more depth. There's a lot to talk about.
- 53:54There's a lot of depth in those ones. Well.
