- 0:00Speaker 1: Bulet Cap show special guests in the building. We have
- 0:02Speaker 1: division ladies and general Well, first of all, I want
- 0:06Speaker 1: to say on behalf of men all over the place
- 0:10Speaker 1: that aren't to me because I can't relate to this
- 0:14Speaker 1: particular record, and while you're speaking on the behalf, because
- 0:17Speaker 1: I have friends who relate strongly to this record strong
- 0:20Speaker 1: This record is very, very appreciated by the male demographic
- 0:25Speaker 1: in the world. Is this something that you guys, I mean,
- 0:29Speaker 1: obviously personal experience you went through and you're like, yo,
- 0:31Speaker 1: this is how come we don't have one of these? Yeah?
- 0:34Speaker 1: I mean, I mean tell us how much of a
- 0:37Speaker 1: piece of shit you are? Honestly, the record is not
- 0:42Speaker 1: It's not what you guys are taking it as first
- 0:44Speaker 1: and foremost. Well, I mean, the hook is very factual.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Though everything in the record is fact What I'm saying, like,
- 0:49Speaker 1: I just I mean, I don't love you, right, because
- 0:53Speaker 1: when you break it down, cheating is not about that.
- 0:55Speaker 1: For a lot of people when they're cheating, it's men specifically,
- 0:58Speaker 1: A lot of men specifically to it, right, correct. But
- 1:02Speaker 1: we've heard from women too, and there's a lot of
- 1:04Speaker 1: girls that are like yo, I I kind of just
- 1:07Speaker 1: wanted to go out there and fuck, or I got
- 1:10Speaker 1: you know, I got caught up in this situation. Or
- 1:12Speaker 1: I felt low about myself. I wanted to feel sexy again,
- 1:15Speaker 1: and this person over here made me feel that way.
- 1:17Speaker 1: You know, I didn't stop loving my person the moment
- 1:20Speaker 1: the moment I was finished, I felt like, fuck, what
- 1:22Speaker 1: did I just? Do? You know that that feeling? So
- 1:24Speaker 1: I've I've been on. I think we've both been on,
- 1:27Speaker 1: probably both sides of that that fence. What do you
- 1:29Speaker 1: guys have cheated and been cheated on? I think I've
- 1:32Speaker 1: been cheated on. I'm not. I don't have the you
- 1:34Speaker 1: don't know for sure, then you don't know. See, I
- 1:36Speaker 1: don't know, but it looks, it looks, it looks suspect. Yes,
- 1:41Speaker 1: I had a god awful, terrible dumpster fire of a
- 1:44Speaker 1: human being as a baby mother. So shout out to hers.
- 1:47Speaker 1: She's a fucking terrible person. She's somewhere probably doing heroin
- 1:52Speaker 1: right now. I don't know I have that, bitch. I
- 1:55Speaker 1: have my son. This only matters anyway. Uh So, yeah,
- 1:59Speaker 1: So like, who was this your idea? Okay, so let
- 2:03Speaker 1: me wreak it down. We have been working on this
- 2:06Speaker 1: album with Jermain dupri real closely. Darn b god, there
- 2:10Speaker 1: your salute? What up? Ja d We walked into the
- 2:13Speaker 1: studio and he's literally opens the door singing that chorus
- 2:20Speaker 1: opens and I mean, I don't love you. And I
- 2:26Speaker 1: was like what And I was like, oh my god,
- 2:29Speaker 1: that's exactly what I want to say in life. And
- 2:32Speaker 1: I was like, I've never heard somebody just say it was.
- 2:35Speaker 1: So it's put so simply, but it's a it's a
- 2:38Speaker 1: deep thought. And so we walk in. Brian Michael Cox
- 2:43Speaker 1: is already messing around with legendary Yeah, yeah, already just
- 2:48Speaker 1: you know, he's going at it. Nineteen has the idea
- 2:52Speaker 1: to be like, yo, what if we flip some of
- 2:56Speaker 1: our old ideas where we used to put like girl
- 2:58Speaker 1: choirs on stuff and make it men a whole bunch
- 3:02Speaker 1: of guys this time. So that way it can you know,
- 3:05Speaker 1: help express that this isn't This is a thought that
- 3:07Speaker 1: seemed that feels universal, right, A lot of people can
- 3:10Speaker 1: relate to this. So I thought that was genius, and
- 3:12Speaker 1: I sat down and I wrote this. These verses. Now,
- 3:16Speaker 1: these verses have been highly taken out of perspective. I
- 3:22Speaker 1: think on people's first maybe second a little misunderstanding about
- 3:27Speaker 1: the meeting. Yes, yeah, So I'm writing about a guy
- 3:33Speaker 1: that's in a relationship where his partner starts to feel
- 3:37Speaker 1: like maybe they're cheating on them. And I'm writing this
- 3:40Speaker 1: from the perspective of someone who's like, yo, everything you,
- 3:43Speaker 1: everything that attracted you to me, is now turned into
- 3:46Speaker 1: your insecurities. Right. That happens a lot, happens a lot
- 3:50Speaker 1: guys and girls. Right. So it's like you you liked
- 3:54Speaker 1: me for who I was, for being fly, for being
- 3:58Speaker 1: a good looking dude, for being and you know, funny, cool, whatever,
- 4:02Speaker 1: all these things. But now because as soon as I
- 4:04Speaker 1: leave the crib, yeah, exactly exactly, you're going, where are
- 4:11Speaker 1: you going? You know all you're going over there. Oh
- 4:13Speaker 1: you're gonna ah, You're gonna be talking and all these
- 4:15Speaker 1: these holes faces. You gotta be the life of the party.
- 4:18Speaker 1: It's like, you met me this way, you liked me
- 4:20Speaker 1: because of these things. You always liked being around my energy,
- 4:23Speaker 1: all these things like that, and now it's turn into this.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Now you're digging through phones and you know, checking Instagram
- 4:28Speaker 1: followers and all that stuff like that. So that's the
- 4:31Speaker 1: perspective that I'm writing about it. So people hear me
- 4:33Speaker 1: say I'm a fly nigga when you got here, charismatic
- 4:36Speaker 1: when you got here, and they're thinking, oh, he's telling
- 4:38Speaker 1: the girls like he was fly. You should have already
- 4:40Speaker 1: know I'm gonna be fucking these holes or something. But
- 4:42Speaker 1: it's like, that's not what I was saying. I was
- 4:44Speaker 1: saying I was these things. And now, well, that's also
- 4:47Speaker 1: a very important thing to convey because a lot of
- 4:49Speaker 1: people feel that way. What that I was flying already
- 4:52Speaker 1: the hose. No, that when you get into a relationship,
- 4:55Speaker 1: like you said, it always happens, whether it's the guy
- 4:57Speaker 1: or the girl. When you think about it, a lot
- 5:01Speaker 1: of dudes will meet to chicken the club, who's fucking beautiful,
- 5:03Speaker 1: fucking ass out whatever, and it's like, well, that's how
- 5:05Speaker 1: you met this girl, that's what attracted you to her.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Now that you cuffed her, like, you can't get mad,
- 5:10Speaker 1: she's going out with her homegirls exactly. So that's that's
- 5:14Speaker 1: the perspective I wrote the verses from. And then I
- 5:16Speaker 1: was like, it gets into the idea of Okay, so
- 5:19Speaker 1: now you're now you're doing the dig into the phone shit.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Are you trying to find a problem or are you
- 5:25Speaker 1: trying to find an actual reason to leave, and then
- 5:28Speaker 1: comes the because, and why would why would you want
- 5:32Speaker 1: to leave? When even if hypothetically I was to cheat
- 5:36Speaker 1: on you, it wouldn't be because all of a sudden
- 5:38Speaker 1: I just lost my feelings for you and I don't
- 5:40Speaker 1: love you anymore. It would be probably because I just
- 5:43Speaker 1: did something super selfish, super self indulgent, super you know,
- 5:47Speaker 1: me being addiction, asshole, short sighted, you know, stroking my ego,
- 5:51Speaker 1: all these other things. And I think that's the miss
- 5:53Speaker 1: a big misconception with people about why people cheat, and
- 5:56Speaker 1: that's why we wanted to bring it to the table.
- 5:58Speaker 1: It's usually not about the other person, especially with guys.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Sometimes sometimes you hear women say you know that, you
- 6:06Speaker 1: know that they only did it because there's a lack
- 6:09Speaker 1: of something or a void or emotional disconnect whatever, and
- 6:12Speaker 1: we're getting something in their relationship they want to go
- 6:14Speaker 1: find it. But guys, especially a lot of guys, I
- 6:17Speaker 1: know girls too, but a lot of guys commonly we
- 6:20Speaker 1: can hear that, yo, they have the girl they want
- 6:23Speaker 1: right there. This is just literally had nothing to do
- 6:27Speaker 1: with them. I mean, if you think about, like all
- 6:31Speaker 1: of the halle Berry has been cheated on, you know
- 6:34Speaker 1: what I'm saying, Like girls say that, he goes like,
- 6:36Speaker 1: how do you cheat on this person? And every guy
- 6:38Speaker 1: gets it. Honestly, I think we're guys. The more you
- 6:43Speaker 1: have that you actually wanted, the less you feel inclined
- 6:47Speaker 1: to stay because we're used to chasing, so we're used
- 6:51Speaker 1: to looking for the other things. So if you actually
- 6:53Speaker 1: have everything at home, I feel like there's a twisted
- 6:56Speaker 1: thing that happens and guys where they start being like
- 6:58Speaker 1: something's missing, like I missed the chair, me I'm not
- 7:01Speaker 1: doing what my what I feel like my nature just
- 7:04Speaker 1: pushes me do or the rape or you know, and
- 7:07Speaker 1: mind you it's it's not something that we can't control.
- 7:10Speaker 1: It's something that we can't just say no to. But
- 7:13Speaker 1: it's something that a lot of people fall into, right
- 7:15Speaker 1: And I don't think that when they do. It's talked
- 7:18Speaker 1: about enough that a lot of times it's not because
- 7:22Speaker 1: they just don't love you anymore. It's because of some
- 7:25Speaker 1: other issues that they probably got to work out. Maybe
- 7:28Speaker 1: they maybe they need to feel more desired, Maybe their
- 7:30Speaker 1: self esteems a little lower and the cell they boost
- 7:32Speaker 1: it this is an ego thing. Maybe this is maybe
- 7:35Speaker 1: they haven't. I don't know whatever. It is, just you know,
- 7:38Speaker 1: addiction to the chase, like you're saying so, and women
- 7:41Speaker 1: at times have an addiction to chasing down your phone
- 7:43Speaker 1: and trying to just find something to fight about even
- 7:45Speaker 1: if you're not cheating, right, and so that is really
- 7:50Speaker 1: I like that. I like when you know, use what's
- 7:52Speaker 1: going on here to shoot out there. Yeah, but nah,
- 7:59Speaker 1: I really feel like I really feel like that's the
- 8:01Speaker 1: conversation that we wanted to put on the table and
- 8:05Speaker 1: know that we wanted people to let's talk about it, yeah,
- 8:08Speaker 1: because no one wants to talk about it. Everyone wants
- 8:10Speaker 1: to act so like it's so taboo. And I think
- 8:13Speaker 1: that that's what made the record really go, and it's
- 8:15Speaker 1: making the record really go, is the fact that it's
- 8:19Speaker 1: so real and it's like Hella underserved niche of that.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Like in R and B, you know what I'm saying, Like,
- 8:28Speaker 1: I feel like we don't have like an anthem like
- 8:30Speaker 1: that there's never been and men enjoy R and B.
- 8:32Speaker 1: I love R and B. And you know, I feel
- 8:35Speaker 1: like there's so much scorned woman music. Yeah, there's not
- 8:37Speaker 1: many songs that I feel like speak to this demographic
- 8:42Speaker 1: that's embraced it so well, just like every man in
- 8:44Speaker 1: the world except me obviously. Yeah. So the Jermaine Depris thing.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Obviously JD one of the greatest producers of all time,
- 8:52Speaker 1: but specifically when it comes to the R and B shit,
- 8:54Speaker 1: he's I mean, I don't know, man, he might be
- 8:57Speaker 1: the goat, you know. I mean you think of confessions
- 8:59Speaker 1: and shit, JD's that motherfucker. What was the initial like, uh,
- 9:06Speaker 1: link up with JD and like having him handle a
- 9:08Speaker 1: lot of the reins on the project. It wasn't supposed
- 9:11Speaker 1: to be that. On first meet up, we're really just
- 9:14Speaker 1: meeting our management team, just set up, you know, me
- 9:19Speaker 1: going through to go say what up to him? Right me,
- 9:21Speaker 1: Jermain Duprie, And you know, fast forward two three days
- 9:26Speaker 1: and it's like, yo, we're together every day, right and
- 9:30Speaker 1: we talk every day. You know. The relationships turned from
- 9:33Speaker 1: hero to you know, big bro shit. Yeah. You know, like,
- 9:36Speaker 1: I don't think it's a day that goes by we're
- 9:38Speaker 1: not calling or texting about whatever it is. You know,
- 9:40Speaker 1: at this point, what is something that you guys learned
- 9:42Speaker 1: creatively from j D? Because you know, when you're like
- 9:46Speaker 1: that prolific, I feel like I'm sure a lot of
- 9:48Speaker 1: the stuff he does just seems like effortlessly, but at
- 9:50Speaker 1: the end of the day, you could probably grab from Oh.
- 9:54Speaker 1: I think it is that though everything he does seems
- 9:56Speaker 1: so effortless that when we're with him, he's always he's
- 10:00Speaker 1: telling us we're thinking too hard. You'd be the first
- 10:02Speaker 1: to be like, bro, you're thinking about this way too hard.
- 10:04Speaker 1: If you haven't got it by now, either move on
- 10:06Speaker 1: or it's that thing right there. So that's his like
- 10:09Speaker 1: hit formula. He can tell you in like ten seconds, Yeah,
- 10:12Speaker 1: that's going to go that that's not the one. It's
- 10:15Speaker 1: the craziest thing with him, and it really shows in
- 10:18Speaker 1: this record because what I like to say that I
- 10:21Speaker 1: think he's great at is is real genius. And what
- 10:25Speaker 1: I mean by that is there's a level of genius
- 10:28Speaker 1: that I think that is for intellectual people to catch,
- 10:35Speaker 1: but I think there's another higher tier where even if
- 10:38Speaker 1: you're not smart, you still recognize the genius right, And
- 10:42Speaker 1: he's a way that finds a way of making everything
- 10:44Speaker 1: genius so simple, well, like a kid to get it right. Yeah,
- 10:47Speaker 1: And that's what I'm saying. He's his records supposed to
- 10:51Speaker 1: be palatable to everybody they should be right exactly so,
- 10:54Speaker 1: and I think that we've always I think that's something
- 10:56Speaker 1: that we really have always used some of that because
- 11:01Speaker 1: I think sometimes we've made like almost higher intellectual R
- 11:05Speaker 1: and B. Even in this it's just like we gotta
- 11:07Speaker 1: we gotta think, oh, we really listen to intelligence sometimes
- 11:10Speaker 1: the music from from our perspective. And I think he
- 11:13Speaker 1: was very clear with us about like, Yo, whatever you
- 11:16Speaker 1: guys have been doing is beautiful music, but let's make
- 11:20Speaker 1: things that kind of go across the board. Like people
- 11:22Speaker 1: need to understand it on the most basic level. They
- 11:25Speaker 1: don't need to be able to they don't have to
- 11:26Speaker 1: like break it down to be like, well, this this
- 11:28Speaker 1: and this happened. That's why tied into this line over here.
- 11:31Speaker 1: You know it sometimes if someone just can just stop
- 11:34Speaker 1: you and just be like, yo, exactly what you said there,
- 11:37Speaker 1: Just leave it like that. He's great at that and
- 11:39Speaker 1: not overthinking it exactly. And he's like, Yo, for the
- 11:42Speaker 1: spot in R and B that you want to go
- 11:45Speaker 1: take and that I can see that you you have
- 11:48Speaker 1: what it takes to go take that. This is the
- 11:51Speaker 1: way to go. It's like no different than like you know,
- 11:53Speaker 1: like I don't know Kendrick Lamar and like Section eighty,
- 11:55Speaker 1: which is fucking one of my favorite Kendric projects. Right,
- 11:57Speaker 1: But then on Good Kymad City, he like puts some
- 12:00Speaker 1: like hit, he puts some thought into, like you know,
- 12:02Speaker 1: some hits. I guess he took it. Oh my god,
- 12:05Speaker 1: he took away further for sure, like to pimp a Butterfly.
- 12:08Speaker 1: He said, fuck it, I'm doing me. Damn, he got
- 12:12Speaker 1: to it, you know what. I'm sure, by the way,
- 12:13Speaker 1: that's my Butterfly is my favorite Countrick album for the record, Yes,
- 12:17Speaker 1: but uh yeah, how do you guys like the new
- 12:19Speaker 1: Kendrick album. I think it's such a like beautiful piece
- 12:26Speaker 1: of art that I only feel like he can play
- 12:29Speaker 1: it in specific moments, Like I don't feel like he
- 12:31Speaker 1: can played it at all times. I have to like
- 12:33Speaker 1: be ready to just like you know, I felt like
- 12:35Speaker 1: that for about a week and now it's like it
- 12:38Speaker 1: just Rich Spirit. I just like can throw that ship
- 12:40Speaker 1: on work out, like definitely Rich Savior. There's some ship
- 12:46Speaker 1: on there. There's some ship. I feel like when it
- 12:47Speaker 1: first came out, I was kind of like, damn, what
- 12:50Speaker 1: do I like? Bang though, you know what I'm saying.
- 12:51Speaker 1: But now I'm like going back. I listen to that
- 12:54Speaker 1: ship a lot. I listen that shit when I work out.
- 12:56Speaker 1: That's why if I could, if I could work out
- 12:57Speaker 1: to your ship, I feel like I could hear on
- 13:00Speaker 1: like on the radio or like hear it in the car.
- 13:02Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. But I feel like you
- 13:04Speaker 1: gotta say it's I feel like, more than most albums
- 13:06Speaker 1: in the last four or five years, you gotta really
- 13:08Speaker 1: like and you get I feel like it gets better
- 13:11Speaker 1: every time you listen to it. I'm sure as yeah.
- 13:14Speaker 1: I mean so, you guys also, did was it last
- 13:18Speaker 1: year you did the Tied ALTI side project? Last year
- 13:20Speaker 1: we did a mix tape with Tie. Shout out to
- 13:23Speaker 1: Tie one of the greats. You guys have two albums
- 13:27Speaker 1: out correct, and we just dropped our third up before that,
- 13:31Speaker 1: before the Tie Ship. I always feel like with the
- 13:37Speaker 1: OVO thing, right, It's like, do you ever feel like
- 13:38Speaker 1: that there's like a gift in a curse of being
- 13:41Speaker 1: with Ovo because at the end of the day, Drake
- 13:42Speaker 1: is the biggest artist in the world. He's one of
- 13:44Speaker 1: the most talented artists in the world, and I feel
- 13:49Speaker 1: like I appreciate his ear for who he signs to
- 13:52Speaker 1: the label because there's always like high I mean, I
- 13:55Speaker 1: wouldn't say always, but for the most part high artistic integrity.
- 13:59Speaker 1: When I think of like Majia Jordan and you guys,
- 14:04Speaker 1: I feel like he also is allowing people to develop,
- 14:07Speaker 1: Like artist development is like a real thing at OVO,
- 14:10Speaker 1: if that makes sense. But at the same time, that
- 14:12Speaker 1: takes time. And when you're signed to Drake, people probably
- 14:15Speaker 1: expect you to just come out swinging with like, you know,
- 14:18Speaker 1: fucking hit records and Drake features and all this shit.
- 14:21Speaker 1: You know, people look at his what he does for
- 14:26Speaker 1: features and what he does for the label as two
- 14:29Speaker 1: separate things, and they expect the same things. I think
- 14:31Speaker 1: it's different. I think him jumping on a record versus
- 14:34Speaker 1: him signing you, his mental approach to that is just
- 14:37Speaker 1: completely different. I think like he might find a record
- 14:40Speaker 1: and be cool, I'm gonna just hop on this wave,
- 14:42Speaker 1: come on, come on there, drop this, drop this, elevate
- 14:45Speaker 1: this record, and they call it the Drake Stimmy package. Yeah,
- 14:48Speaker 1: the stimmy right. Yes. Whereas I think with artists that
- 14:51Speaker 1: he's involved with, you know, the business of signing, I
- 14:54Speaker 1: think that he likes to be like this person's dope,
- 14:58Speaker 1: give them, give them what they need. This person's dope,
- 15:02Speaker 1: you know, give them what they need, versus the approach
- 15:05Speaker 1: that he takes when it's just like I'm jumping on
- 15:07Speaker 1: a run, right, I just feel like it's like dope
- 15:10Speaker 1: because you'll see like artist development happening at Ouvio, Like
- 15:13Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, Like, it's not always like
- 15:15Speaker 1: the cheat code is like let me just get on
- 15:17Speaker 1: a song knowing what that's going to do. That's also
- 15:20Speaker 1: the easiest way for people to fail. I mean, if
- 15:23Speaker 1: you take an artist that's not in the drake position,
- 15:29Speaker 1: you give them the drake and then and insert name
- 15:36Speaker 1: here who's no longer relevant exactly, you know. And that's
- 15:40Speaker 1: why we've always been really appreciative of the way that
- 15:44Speaker 1: he's embraced things and let us kind of develop on
- 15:48Speaker 1: our own path figure that out. And the same time,
- 15:52Speaker 1: like we still can go back and forth with records
- 15:55Speaker 1: or ideas, and that's how we ended up on the
- 15:58Speaker 1: Views album. More. That's how he's had songs that he's
- 16:01Speaker 1: written and he'll throw to us and be like, yo,
- 16:03Speaker 1: what do you think of this record? You want to
- 16:04Speaker 1: do something with it? Or you know, and there's always
- 16:07Speaker 1: been that freedom, but there's never the pressure to feel like,
- 16:09Speaker 1: you guys don't have to do the Drake way of
- 16:12Speaker 1: doing so, you don't have to do it the way
- 16:16Speaker 1: the traditional like label process would be. Not only that,
- 16:21Speaker 1: but I think it helps every artist on the label
- 16:24Speaker 1: kind of own own their brand, right. That's smart, Yeah,
- 16:30Speaker 1: because I think that division like we have our we
- 16:32Speaker 1: definitely have our own brand and your own following, following
- 16:36Speaker 1: our fans. It's independent of everything, independent of anything. So
- 16:41Speaker 1: I love that we've been able to to have the
- 16:44Speaker 1: space to do that and to be you know, successful
- 16:47Speaker 1: in doing that. What was his reaction when you heard
- 16:49Speaker 1: this record? We haven't. We haven't talked to anybody since
- 16:51Speaker 1: we dropped Jesus bro. We literally in the tunnels just
- 16:56Speaker 1: trying to get this album done so justice over there
- 16:59Speaker 1: is and kill us. But we literally haven't talked to
- 17:03Speaker 1: anybody sent you know, we don't. We literally locked in
- 17:06Speaker 1: the studio, cooked up and popped our head out to
- 17:10Speaker 1: drop this and even this record. Why we popped our
- 17:13Speaker 1: head up to drop this is because we've been inviting
- 17:15Speaker 1: people to the studio just to you know, hear things,
- 17:19Speaker 1: and every time we played that record, the whole room
- 17:23Speaker 1: burst into argument for like half an hour an hour time,
- 17:26Speaker 1: so we're like, Yo, what is happening? And every guy
- 17:29Speaker 1: felt like liberated. Some women are like, yeah, you know what,
- 17:32Speaker 1: I get that. You know it's honest. Some girls like, oh,
- 17:34Speaker 1: it's a bop. Some girls are like, man, I'm triggered.
- 17:37Speaker 1: You know, I'm mad, you know, And we're just like, Yo,
- 17:41Speaker 1: what is happening. This has never happened with a song
- 17:44Speaker 1: like this, and so because of that, we just we
- 17:46Speaker 1: got to get this thing out. This is also the
- 17:48Speaker 1: first album that we've done outside of Toronto. You guys
- 17:51Speaker 1: do were you guys doing in Atlanta? It's amazing. Whose
- 17:57Speaker 1: idea was? It was your idea? JD's idea to sample
- 17:59Speaker 1: Jay to the jay z is both of us, because
- 18:01Speaker 1: me and JD were joking about how ridiculous that line.
- 18:07Speaker 1: It's like, Yo, that's a crazy line. What if we
- 18:09Speaker 1: use it? And then I was like, I don't really
- 18:10Speaker 1: think I can do that. He's like, Wow, I don't
- 18:12Speaker 1: think we're to get that cleared. He's like, I'll handle
- 18:14Speaker 1: the clear and stuff. You just sample however, you see,
- 18:17Speaker 1: like how you see that fitting in the record, And
- 18:19Speaker 1: I'll do the rest and he did he took care
- 18:21Speaker 1: of Hope cleared it. Hope cleared it. I mean, and
- 18:25Speaker 1: it's it's it's cool because I saw I actually saw
- 18:27Speaker 1: the like I think the chext conversation or whatever that
- 18:31Speaker 1: that came out about Whole Clear, and I didn't hear
- 18:33Speaker 1: the record yet, So when I heard it, I was like, oh, ship,
- 18:36Speaker 1: they use that and it's perfect for the for the song. Yeah,
- 18:42Speaker 1: it works. It was message because again to say something
- 18:45Speaker 1: like that, you know again you're you're in your full
- 18:48Speaker 1: ego at that moment to be able to tell somebody
- 18:50Speaker 1: like it was just I was just doing that, like
- 18:53Speaker 1: I was coming right back and thinking that that's what percentage.
- 18:57Speaker 1: Are we done with the album or is it done
- 18:59Speaker 1: or is it like you guys get on the album.
- 19:05Speaker 1: I mean, you're gonna have to wait and see on
- 19:08Speaker 1: the remix at least yeo. I said you're gonna have
- 19:11Speaker 1: to wait and see. It feels like yeah, yeah you
- 19:16Speaker 1: said yeah, because the usher it feels like it's a
- 19:18Speaker 1: nice connection there. M hmm yeah yeah, what about the
- 19:23Speaker 1: Brat I'm just kidding that would be random as you
- 19:27Speaker 1: just have like the SOSO based All Stars like on
- 19:30Speaker 1: like the last song. You know what I mean, record
- 19:32Speaker 1: seen like bone Crusher a little Bow. Wow, she no,
- 19:38Speaker 1: she's just like this record is so fire. Bra Functified
- 19:43Speaker 1: was incredible shoutouts. Yeah, so first album outside of Toronto, right,
- 19:49Speaker 1: or just Canada in general? What part are you? Guys?
- 19:51Speaker 1: Both from Toronto? From Toronto? I keep hearing about Toronto.
- 19:54Speaker 1: I hear it's amazing, man, you to come. I heard.
- 19:56Speaker 1: It's like, yeah, I heard it's a vibe. Yeah. Everybody
- 20:00Speaker 1: I know from you guys are just the nicest people.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Canadians are just so sweet. Man. I don't know one
- 20:06Speaker 1: dickhead is a Canadian. Now, you guys probably do because
- 20:08Speaker 1: you're from there. All the Canadians I come into context
- 20:11Speaker 1: seem to be sweet guys. Yeah, what is it? Why
- 20:14Speaker 1: is that? I don't think that's accurate? Well, why is it?
- 20:19Speaker 1: I just feel like, is it because there's like fucking
- 20:21Speaker 1: you know, uh, free healthcare, less distress about less aggressive
- 20:26Speaker 1: people in general? Yeah? I think that you guys call
- 20:29Speaker 1: ham Canadian bacon. There's no Canadian bacon is a certain type,
- 20:35Speaker 1: not a Papa John's. You get that Papa John's. You say, hey,
- 20:38Speaker 1: we got Canadian bacon, and it comes in, it's hawn.
- 20:40Speaker 1: I know a lot of people. I gotta say this
- 20:41Speaker 1: because Church Toronto people will see this. I know a
- 20:43Speaker 1: lot of Toronto people that feel the complete opposite about
- 20:48Speaker 1: Toronto versus States, Like everyone from the US is nice,
- 20:52Speaker 1: super nice. Really, have you ever been to like, I
- 20:55Speaker 1: don't know, fucking Tennessee or Mississippi or something. I'm saying,
- 20:58Speaker 1: maybe I haven't been even places at Atlanta, Houston, go
- 21:03Speaker 1: to the middle of America, Yeah, that's different. So but
- 21:06Speaker 1: I'm seeing the places that I go, the the people
- 21:11Speaker 1: that I meet as far as especially in comparison to
- 21:13Speaker 1: the black community in Toronto's way more love especially in
- 21:17Speaker 1: the South and stuff like that amongst them versus than
- 21:20Speaker 1: it is in Toronto. And I think it's the Southern hospitality.
- 21:25Speaker 1: I think it's also to get all deep, but I
- 21:28Speaker 1: think no, really, I know it's not to get all
- 21:29Speaker 1: deep Jesus, But I think it's that. I think it's
- 21:31Speaker 1: the fact that I think it's the fact that people
- 21:34Speaker 1: have always there's always been like and just the racism
- 21:37Speaker 1: idea of it all has kind of made black people
- 21:40Speaker 1: kind of feel to other black people like, oh, you're
- 21:42Speaker 1: one of us, you know, And in Toronto. It's a
- 21:45Speaker 1: lot of the island culture, like Jamaican and Island culture
- 21:48Speaker 1: kind of runs that and Island people are just you know,
- 21:52Speaker 1: they have their own attitude about them at all times.
- 21:54Speaker 1: That kind of that's kind of what they are. Like, Okay,
- 21:58Speaker 1: when you get there, I won't even make a comment.
- 22:01Speaker 1: Then everybody's nice. Yeah, the world's nice. How do you
- 22:06Speaker 1: feel about you guys? Have Justin Trudeau running your country
- 22:10Speaker 1: and I know that, like there's like a crazy like
- 22:14Speaker 1: I know, people fucked with him, and then COVID happened
- 22:16Speaker 1: and it seems like he's How do y'all feel about
- 22:18Speaker 1: this guy? I think COVID made everything different, you know,
- 22:23Speaker 1: I won't say better or worse. I think it made
- 22:26Speaker 1: things different. And this was one of the few times
- 22:29Speaker 1: that the world looked at Canada as not being like
- 22:34Speaker 1: one of the leaders as far as the way things
- 22:38Speaker 1: were handled right, you know, I think people always look
- 22:40Speaker 1: to Canadians like, oh, the way they do it up
- 22:42Speaker 1: there is they got you know, they got they get
- 22:44Speaker 1: the healthcare. Yeah, this was one of the five times
- 22:47Speaker 1: where it seems like we weren't necessarily the front runner
- 22:51Speaker 1: as far as how certain things were handled. Even right now,
- 22:54Speaker 1: the airports are crazy, and you know, there shouldn't be
- 22:58Speaker 1: that much of a difference between even us in the
- 23:01Speaker 1: States as far as how we've kind of transitioned out
- 23:07Speaker 1: of you know, if we have transitioned out, I think
- 23:10Speaker 1: we're coming right back into it. I mean, you guys
- 23:12Speaker 1: have been in Atlanta. You guys know it don't exist there.
- 23:15Speaker 1: What how many how many meals if you guys shared
- 23:18Speaker 1: at a strip club in the last twelve months in
- 23:19Speaker 1: Atlanta at least one, right, at least Yeah, Blue Flame
- 23:25Speaker 1: got great Wings. That's one of the strip clubes I
- 23:28Speaker 1: actually still haven't gone to yet. There's like, there's a
- 23:30Speaker 1: strip club there that plays terrible music. It's like Nickelback
- 23:34Speaker 1: and know exactly what you're talking about, lamb Chops. I
- 23:37Speaker 1: know exactly what you're talking about. It's actually right out
- 23:39Speaker 1: the side. It's on the south side. It's like, yeah,
- 23:41Speaker 1: they got great lamb chops. No, he's not talking about
- 23:44Speaker 1: you though, he's not talking about that's right. No, they
- 23:47Speaker 1: got the lamb chops. She's just definitely playing Nickelback. It's
- 23:49Speaker 1: the the other one up up the street from No, no,
- 23:53Speaker 1: no, no no, he's it's Cheata it's cheatah. Yeah, no, no no, no,
- 23:56Speaker 1: the Lamb Chees isn't playing nickel Back anymore. I've been
- 24:00Speaker 1: there three times in the last when I went there,
- 24:02Speaker 1: they were playing some fucking nickelback when I went when
- 24:04Speaker 1: I went to cheating there by the way, play nickelback Canadian?
- 24:08Speaker 1: When's that happening? Boys? When we're gonna do the little
- 24:10Speaker 1: fucking collapse? Are they still out? Man? That's a big
- 24:15Speaker 1: is that? Y'all ship people? But I was like, I
- 24:20Speaker 1: think about kind of secretly of a couple of bands.
- 24:23Speaker 1: They got a few Spider Man, the Spider Man soundtrack,
- 24:26Speaker 1: I liked Hero Hero track. I liked. Yeah, their music
- 24:29Speaker 1: is better than Creed's. I'll tell you that is it.
- 24:32Speaker 1: I thought that I thought people. I thought music was atrocious. People.
- 24:37Speaker 1: People always ship on Nickelback like they're the they're the
- 24:42Speaker 1: lesser Creed is what I always talk to people thought.
- 24:45Speaker 1: But I'm trying to figure out a word that you're
- 24:46Speaker 1: getting be canceled that they're the something is banned in
- 24:49Speaker 1: the world, right, but they're not. But what what's the something?
- 24:53Speaker 1: Will come on? Just give it? What's the word? Man?
- 24:54Speaker 1: Something is? You know what? No, I don't in the world.
- 24:58Speaker 1: Ah wow, we're just gonna bleep that out. It's it's
- 25:06Speaker 1: almost like it's like it's like Nickelback is like the
- 25:11Speaker 1: but all these bands aren't They just kind of like
- 25:13Speaker 1: the flow right of like Rockberry right, poppy, it's poppy, right, yeah,
- 25:18Speaker 1: but like Lincoln Park was poppy, you know, like I
- 25:22Speaker 1: guess but not but I like Lincoln Park, Creeds from
- 25:25Speaker 1: Canada or not Creed uh, nickel Backs from Canada? So
- 25:27Speaker 1: those you're those y'all. You know, y'all got to stick together. Man,
- 25:30Speaker 1: it'd be kind of crazy if y'all did a record
- 25:32Speaker 1: with Creed, it might sound terrible. Creed, I keep saying
- 25:35Speaker 1: Creed Nickelback, Right, I'm confusing my Caucasians. I'm confusing my
- 25:39Speaker 1: shitty rock bands. Guys, jesus here we are. So do
- 25:45Speaker 1: we have any idea of the project? Will be dropping
- 25:47Speaker 1: in the next couple of months and then so soon? Yeah? Nice?
- 25:50Speaker 1: How fun was the little photo shoot y'all with the
- 25:53Speaker 1: with the you know you're for the single? That wasn't
- 25:57Speaker 1: We had to do that a couple of times, just
- 26:00Speaker 1: could look that way, But no, it's dope. The models
- 26:04Speaker 1: all all got into character. Nice character for it. I
- 26:12Speaker 1: put on a silk shirt if you wear those like normally, Yeah, uncomfortable,
- 26:18Speaker 1: silk uncomfortable, like if it's hot. I'm from Arizona, so
- 26:21Speaker 1: this doesn't like sticks the breathiest. I don't know. I've
- 26:24Speaker 1: never worn when you're shaped like me, I'm shaped like
- 26:26Speaker 1: a bag of potatoes. I can't wear a fucking silk shirt.
- 26:28Speaker 1: You said you're in the gym. Now you listen, I am,
- 26:30Speaker 1: I've been working out. I have been working out, but
- 26:32Speaker 1: I still I still, I still still got What do
- 26:36Speaker 1: I look like in his silk shirt? Broom a boat,
- 26:41Speaker 1: Get a pair of shorts, some fresh white Air Force shorts.
- 26:46Speaker 1: All the time, everyone says, Okay, Scott's sorches little brother.
- 26:52Speaker 1: The thing? Did you say that on purpose? That Scott's
- 26:56Speaker 1: a great guy? Have you met Scott Storch one time?
- 27:01Speaker 1: My great guy, change, great guy, great guy, very talented.
- 27:06Speaker 1: He's like I would say, he's where would you guys
- 27:08Speaker 1: put him all time? Top fifteen who got storage as
- 27:12Speaker 1: a producer? Yeah? Top fifteen? Rap? You sing rap? Or
- 27:16Speaker 1: are you saying I'm saying rap? Ye? Because if you
- 27:18Speaker 1: go all rob what because of how high dre is
- 27:22Speaker 1: going to be? And people don't realize how much he's
- 27:25Speaker 1: especially JWO thousand and one. Yeah, then I think you
- 27:28Speaker 1: gotta put him not I think he could get top fifteen. Yeah,
- 27:32Speaker 1: not faring, So I don't think that. I think people
- 27:34Speaker 1: just forget how much he did. Yeah, who's your who's your? Like?
- 27:37Speaker 1: Top five producers hip hop all time? Wow, top five Yay, Timberland, Neptunes, Primo.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Just there's too many Just Blaze, just Blazes, So you
- 27:59Speaker 1: don't have Drey in there, and you don't have Jermaine
- 28:01Speaker 1: to prea give him right, he's just doing your whole
- 28:03Speaker 1: album too many? Yeah, because Jermaine, it's like so much
- 28:08Speaker 1: bigger than just hip hop. I agree. I agree. So
- 28:10Speaker 1: it's timblind, but I actually feel like I actually feel
- 28:12Speaker 1: like Timberland if you think about the Range. I don't
- 28:16Speaker 1: know if anyone's fucking with Timberland now. My personal favorite
- 28:18Speaker 1: ever is just Blaze, Like he's my personal favorite. I
- 28:21Speaker 1: know he's not the best, but he's my personal number one.
- 28:23Speaker 1: But Timberland to me is like the Range if you
- 28:26Speaker 1: think about justin, Timberlake was my favorite, was my favorite producer,
- 28:32Speaker 1: and I actually just met him for the first time
- 28:33Speaker 1: maybe like three weeks ago, there was like a bubb
- 28:37Speaker 1: A Sparks album called Deliverance that it's crazy. No one
- 28:42Speaker 1: talks about that album. I'm like, y'all understand this motherfucker
- 28:45Speaker 1: did a whole country rap album that was like flawless.
- 28:48Speaker 1: I haven't heard that album. Deliverance is crazy, don't listen
- 28:50Speaker 1: to The first album is like the mom but Ugly,
- 28:52Speaker 1: which is a great record, But the second one is
- 28:54Speaker 1: the one we sampling all kinds of like folk, country
- 28:57Speaker 1: and ship. Yeah. Timberland's that guy man. So we're getting
- 29:00Speaker 1: album in the next couple of months. Yeah, videos dope.
- 29:04Speaker 1: I saw that Joe Biden was a little critical of
- 29:06Speaker 1: this record. He's a fan of you guys obviously, But
- 29:09Speaker 1: was that just coming with having Mal in the video?
- 29:11Speaker 1: I mean, I think definitely mall played a part in that.
- 29:15Speaker 1: I think we knew once Mal was in the video.
- 29:17Speaker 1: I mean, it's crazy because I wasn't thinking about it
- 29:21Speaker 1: at all, and then I it hit me. I was like, oh,
- 29:23Speaker 1: you know what, Joe, my Je's gonna probably have something
- 29:26Speaker 1: to say because he said, you guys talk right, you know,
- 29:29Speaker 1: we DM and hearing he's an R and B fan,
- 29:31Speaker 1: Like he talks about R and B a lot. Yeah,
- 29:32Speaker 1: he you know, he's he's good for saying a lot
- 29:36Speaker 1: of real things, but he's also good for just kind
- 29:40Speaker 1: of just saying things sometimes. So it is what it is,
- 29:43Speaker 1: you know, he's he I think he said we dropped
- 29:45Speaker 1: an album in twenty sixteen, then another one in twenty nineteen,
- 29:49Speaker 1: and so we don't drop enough for him. And I
- 29:51Speaker 1: was like, that is not our album. That's not accurate
- 29:55Speaker 1: at all. But shout out to Joe. You know, whatever,
- 29:57Speaker 1: it is, what it is. She just can't. He's just
- 29:59Speaker 1: not the division wikipedia he thinks he is. And sometimes
- 30:02Speaker 1: he's just wrong on records. Wrong. Great, this one's already
- 30:06Speaker 1: proven that he's went out, and you know, he said
- 30:08Speaker 1: what he said, and then you know, I think the same.
- 30:12Speaker 1: Maybe like a few days later, we heard the most
- 30:14Speaker 1: number one added song to urban radio. You know, so
- 30:18Speaker 1: you're wrong. I think it's like I think I watched
- 30:22Speaker 1: that clip and I think I think he's probably Like
- 30:27Speaker 1: it's kind of like if you're like a really big
- 30:29Speaker 1: fan of like an underground rapper, right, and then they
- 30:32Speaker 1: put out like a song with Drake or some crazy
- 30:36Speaker 1: and you're just like you didn't have to, you know,
- 30:39Speaker 1: what I mean. I feel like that that was more
- 30:40Speaker 1: his perspective. I don't agree with it because I love
- 30:42Speaker 1: this fucking song. I think the song is great, But
- 30:43Speaker 1: I think that, like I feel like, you know, everybody
- 30:46Speaker 1: who most fans who are with you from the beginning
- 30:50Speaker 1: when you have that first real big splash, and they're
- 30:53Speaker 1: kind of like, hmm, you know what I mean. So
- 30:55Speaker 1: maybe he was just speaking from that perspective. Maybe, you know.
- 30:57Speaker 1: And one thing about this song that I have noticed,
- 31:00Speaker 1: whether it's you know, a critic or just like a
- 31:04Speaker 1: casual listener, a fan, even is it's it sticks with
- 31:10Speaker 1: you in a way that's different. So I think that
- 31:12Speaker 1: even if on first listen you don't want to like it,
- 31:15Speaker 1: on second listen you realize that you kind of do
- 31:18Speaker 1: what you might not want to say. Even if you
- 31:19Speaker 1: don't like it, it's going to be in your you
- 31:21Speaker 1: can't get it out of you. So it's just it's
- 31:23Speaker 1: just that kind of song, which is cool. Would you
- 31:25Speaker 1: guys do a remix to this record if the if
- 31:28Speaker 1: the right idea came to mind, for sure, why not?
- 31:31Speaker 1: I feel like when the record gets this big, it's
- 31:33Speaker 1: like people are going to remix it themselves. Yeah, you'd
- 31:37Speaker 1: almost rather yeah, have like control the recontrol. Yeah. We've
- 31:42Speaker 1: seen some girls start to make their clap backs, which
- 31:45Speaker 1: I think is crazy. I think it's I haven't seen
- 31:46Speaker 1: any of these any good ones to Baby Tait, Baby Tait,
- 31:51Speaker 1: who's label mate? Yeah, okay, so no, she her, HER's
- 31:58Speaker 1: the fire. But you know, a bag of girls have
- 32:01Speaker 1: started to do it. And there's a bag of girls,
- 32:03Speaker 1: a group like a no, you know, a bunch of women.
- 32:13Speaker 1: You know, a bunch of a bunch of girls have
- 32:14Speaker 1: done it. And what I think is very interesting and
- 32:17Speaker 1: I think we knew was going to happen to besides
- 32:19Speaker 1: this song, bring this conversation about relationship and setting up
- 32:24Speaker 1: the story of the album. Blah blah blah. It's going
- 32:26Speaker 1: to show some some sides of people are showing a
- 32:28Speaker 1: lot of double standards and men. It's showing a lot
- 32:31Speaker 1: of even hipocrisy, though sometimes of women, because these women
- 32:34Speaker 1: are now making super over the top toxic clapbacks and
- 32:39Speaker 1: girls are now cheering it on like yes, man, talk
- 32:42Speaker 1: that ship, you know, and they're happy about it. Now.
- 32:45Speaker 1: I love this so many of those I love this.
- 32:48Speaker 1: Women have so many of them, so many What do
- 32:50Speaker 1: you mean we get so many insert R and insert
- 32:53Speaker 1: Keishah's discography here. Everything we've been enough, Somber Walker, Jesus
- 32:59Speaker 1: Simon Walker, everybody going and shout out to all that.
- 33:02Speaker 1: Of course, the great records that you know we got,
- 33:06Speaker 1: we haven't had. I feel like we haven't had some
