- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, guys, here we are. Our last break of
- 0:03Speaker 1: the day. We got to say thank you to our audience,
- 0:06Speaker 1: to the Steve Harvey Nation for listening.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Thank you. That's right.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Junior, you got a question for Steve?
- 0:13Speaker 2: I sure do.
- 0:14Speaker 3: You know, I know you dealt with this in your lifetime.
- 0:16Speaker 3: And we got people who doubt you, who said you
- 0:19Speaker 3: was never going to do this.
- 0:20Speaker 2: You never do that.
- 0:22Speaker 3: You was never going to make it this far. So
- 0:24Speaker 3: how do you handle doubters in your life? And then
- 0:27Speaker 3: what's some examples that you've had happen to you in
- 0:29Speaker 3: your life with doubters?
- 0:31Speaker 2: Well, let me tell you something, man. The older I've gotten,
- 0:33Speaker 2: the less effective they are to me. But doubters, especially
- 0:39Speaker 2: when you first start out, you have to be very
- 0:41Speaker 2: careful about doubters because they can be so debilitating. They
- 0:48Speaker 2: can be so spiritual breaking. they can be so detrimental
- 0:53Speaker 2: to your progress. Just a simple doubter. That's because when
- 1:00Speaker 2: you start sharing visions and dreams and aspirations with other
- 1:06Speaker 2: people that are not, especially who are not like-minded, you
- 1:11Speaker 2: can prepare yourself for the doubters. Oh, I've had doubters
- 1:16Speaker 2: my whole life. And it's really troubling because It's always
- 1:23Speaker 2: somebody's opinion that you care deeply about. Always. In the beginning,
- 1:28Speaker 2: that's what it is. Because when you first come up
- 1:31Speaker 2: with your first bright idea of becoming successful or changing
- 1:35Speaker 2: your path or whatever you want to do, the only
- 1:37Speaker 2: people you have to tell it to is your family
- 1:40Speaker 2: and friends. You know, so when you go in there
- 1:46Speaker 2: and you tell your family and friends... People who you love,
- 1:50Speaker 2: have relationships with, and you care about their opinion. And
- 1:53Speaker 2: you tell them what you're about to embark on. And
- 1:57Speaker 2: they have doubts about it. It affects you, man. And
- 2:02Speaker 2: it freezes you. I don't see how you're going to
- 2:05Speaker 2: do that. Wait a minute now. Tell me you're going
- 2:08Speaker 2: to do what now? Suppose that don't work. Oh, hold on. Wait, wait, wait.
- 2:14Speaker 2: So you're going to start selling what? No, nobody want that. Now,
- 2:19Speaker 2: here you go. This great idea you had, doubt comes
- 2:24Speaker 2: and it affects your confidence. But what I had to
- 2:29Speaker 2: learn quickly is if you want to kill a big dream,
- 2:35Speaker 2: all you have to do is tell it to a
- 2:38Speaker 2: small minded person and that dream is gone. Do you
- 2:44Speaker 2: know people, man, that no matter what you tell them,
- 2:46Speaker 2: they got a negative response to it? Do you have
- 2:49Speaker 2: people like that in your life? Why would you go
- 2:51Speaker 2: to them with anything positive when they always have a
- 2:54Speaker 2: negative response? See, I start watching people real close. If
- 3:00Speaker 2: you go to somebody with an idea and their only
- 3:02Speaker 2: thing is to tell you why it won't work, why
- 3:04Speaker 2: would you keep sharing ideas with them? Or if somebody
- 3:08Speaker 2: calls you and every time they call you, they want something.
- 3:11Speaker 2: They got something negative to say. Why would you answer
- 3:14Speaker 2: your phone? Man, you ever have people that always bring
- 3:17Speaker 2: you bad news? You no matter what is bad news.
- 3:22Speaker 2: These people are in your circle. You have to eliminate
- 3:25Speaker 2: people from your circle like that. Because if you let
- 3:27Speaker 2: them enter the circle, they're going to be who they are,
- 3:30Speaker 2: which is negative. And you don't need it when you
- 3:34Speaker 2: embark on a new idea. Whenever I come up with
- 3:36Speaker 2: a new idea and I tell it to my team,
- 3:39Speaker 2: I don't need you to tell me why it won't work.
- 3:41Speaker 2: You got one job. Y'all get started with this check
- 3:45Speaker 2: that I'm paying y'all and tell me how we can
- 3:47Speaker 2: make this happen. Don't tell me why it won't work.
- 3:51Speaker 2: I already know we're going to face challenges and troubles.
- 3:55Speaker 2: I already know we're going to face negativity. Because if
- 3:58Speaker 2: you want something, everything I've ever wanted was on the
- 4:04Speaker 2: other side of uncomfortable. You got to go through the
- 4:07Speaker 2: uncomfortable situation to get to the other side. So when
- 4:11Speaker 2: I explain an idea to me, I don't need you
- 4:13Speaker 2: telling me what can go wrong. I already know that.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Just tell me no matter what, if we keep doing this,
- 4:20Speaker 2: this is what we can win. And then let's get
- 4:22Speaker 2: to doing it. So you have to protect yourself from that.
- 4:26Speaker 2: And the best way to protect yourself from it is
- 4:28Speaker 2: to limit your circle of people that you share information with.
- 4:32Speaker 2: And you're going to have to make some tough decisions
- 4:34Speaker 2: about that. Because I'm telling you, it's going to mean
- 4:38Speaker 2: that you are going to have to reduce your friendship circle.
- 4:42Speaker 2: And then people that's in your family, you just got
- 4:44Speaker 2: to cut them loose with sharing their information. You can
- 4:46Speaker 2: still love them. You can still help them out. You
- 4:49Speaker 2: can still talk. You can go to family union. You
- 4:50Speaker 2: can be in the backyard at the barbecues. But we
- 4:53Speaker 2: can't do nothing together. I'm sorry. It's just too negative.
- 5:00Speaker 2: And the thing about negative people, when you listen to them,
- 5:04Speaker 2: it's all right with them. It's all right with them.
- 5:09Speaker 2: I got a partner, man, I grew up with, man.
- 5:11Speaker 2: Ain't got much of nothing. Yeah, man, you out there. Man,
- 5:13Speaker 2: they always talking about you on the internet, Steve. I
- 5:16Speaker 2: don't even see how you do that, man. See, what
- 5:19Speaker 2: I did was, man, when I lost that job, man,
- 5:22Speaker 2: I just cut back, cut back and made it work, man.
- 5:27Speaker 2: And then I ain't got to worry about all that.
- 5:30Speaker 2: So I didn't know what the cutback meant until I
- 5:33Speaker 2: found out he didn't have a cable. He don't have
- 5:36Speaker 2: a new car. He sold his new car, took the money,
- 5:39Speaker 2: bought a used car so he wouldn't have a note.
- 5:42Speaker 2: He on some benefit program now. He only buy what
- 5:46Speaker 2: he need. He don't buy nothing he want. Okay? Bro,
- 5:51Speaker 2: me and your conversation is going to be limited because
- 5:54Speaker 2: I don't think that way at all. But every time,
- 5:57Speaker 2: like just recently, I don't know how you do it, man.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Ain't no way in the world I want to be famous.
- 6:02Speaker 2: They be just talking about you. Okay. Thanks, man. Appreciate it. Hey,
- 6:09Speaker 2: call me sometime, man. Fly me out somewhere.
- 6:12Speaker 1: See you.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Okay, bro. So just be careful with the doubters because
- 6:17Speaker 2: they're out there. Reduce your circle of friends and you
- 6:21Speaker 2: can limit some of the doubt. That's just a suggestion.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Talk to God today. He'd absolutely love to hear from you.
