- 0:07The more of you that I inspect, the more of you I see you
- 0:12reflect. The more I try it, raise your
- 0:17lips, the more the mask you wear.
- 0:20It rips the greatest Seek out your voice.
- 0:24My ears so cool with noise. You show and tell me the
- 0:30greatest sees. Oh, hello, ladies and gentlemen.
- 0:52My name is Brett Keene and you are watching listening to The
- 0:54Brett Keene Show. It's official, folks.
- 0:58Todd Howard is a corporate shell.
- 1:01He is a absolute liar, absolute garbage of the person for what
- 1:06he's done. I think a lot of us know by now
- 1:10that the reason why he hyped up Starfield was because he was in
- 1:16a merger with Microsoft Xbox. And he wanted his company.
- 1:22His company rode on a lot of things.
- 1:25One, they weren't no longer working with Sony and they
- 1:29needed to do something big. But Todd Howard didn't have
- 1:34anything big. There was nothing great going
- 1:37on. In fact, for many, many years,
- 1:40no game, no actual decent game was produced by Todd Howard
- 1:46since Fallout 4. There was Red Fall, but that
- 1:51game was dead on arrival. Then there was Fallout 76, which
- 1:56was pretty much a copy and paste job of Fallout 4 where they just
- 2:01copied like assets from the game and then claimed that you'd be
- 2:05able to play with your friends if you ever played Fallout 76.
- 2:10And you would know that immediately on launch.
- 2:13There were tons of glitches and bugs.
- 2:15They didn't even care enough to make the game.
- 2:19Playable whenever it first came out.
- 2:21And because modders couldn't get into the game, they couldn't fix
- 2:26the problems or the bugs or the glitches.
- 2:28And some of those bugs and glitches lasted for years.
- 2:31Some of them still exist today. I remember when I first played
- 2:36Fallout 76, I had just gotten away from Fallout 4.
- 2:42Literally. I was taking a break from
- 2:44Fallout 4 and I was like, OK. Wow, this is gonna be a massive
- 2:48world. He claimed that it was gonna be
- 2:508. The map was gonna be 8 times
- 2:52bigger than Fallout 4. So I come into the world and I
- 2:56find myself in a place where there's nothing.
- 3:00There's no, no people. The whole thing was I was just
- 3:05supposed to collect tape and garbage and everything.
- 3:08There was hardly no animals or creatures in it either.
- 3:12The game had roughly about 10 monsters at the most in the
- 3:16supposed giant map that it has a lot like Starfield.
- 3:21You visit a planet, and apparently planets are only able
- 3:25to produce four types of flowers and four types of creatures on
- 3:29the majority of them. Well, that's exactly the state
- 3:32that Fallout 76 was in. The same could be said about
- 3:36Fallout 4, but Fallout 4 had a little bit of a story to it, had
- 3:40a little bit of a motivation. Save your kidnapped son.
- 3:44You're basically getting vengeance for the death of your
- 3:46wife, unless you were a modder like myself or downloaded mods.
- 3:51Then you could save your wife and have her as a companion and
- 3:56you could run around a world and it always felt like something
- 3:59was new and different. You didn't ever feel like you
- 4:02were running through a copy and paste environment, is where
- 4:06Fallout 76. Felt totally copyrighted.
- 4:10Not copyrighted, but copy and pasted.
- 4:12It was boring as shit. And the make matters worse, this
- 4:19asshole right here actually thought it would be a good idea
- 4:21to make a video game that doesn't have any NPCS in it.
- 4:25That's right. So there's no story, there's no
- 4:28nothing. You just get released from a
- 4:30vault. And you're in an absolutely
- 4:33empty world where there's nobody in it.
- 4:35And I guess he figured because people would be able to run
- 4:38around with each other, they would enjoy just collecting tape
- 4:42all day and listening to each other on a scratchy mic and all
- 4:47that kind of shit. I don't know.
- 4:48I don't know what was going through this fucking man's head.
- 4:51What's weird is. Todd Howard and Bethesda had the
- 4:57ability to go back and look at why it was Morrowind was
- 5:01successful, why it was Fallout 3 in Vegas and Skyrim were such a
- 5:07big games and two people why they meant so much?
- 5:13Did they actually think that Skyrim would have been
- 5:16interesting if they didn't put the NPCS in the game?
- 5:20Did they actually think a game like Skyrim would have been
- 5:23interesting if all you did all day was fucking collect tape and
- 5:26build a settlement for dead settlers that don't exist to
- 5:31have no goals or any kind of quest whatsoever?
- 5:34This is, does he actually think that whenever he looks back on
- 5:38Skyrim, Oblivion, another game where you felt like you were
- 5:45really, really immersed into a story?
- 5:48These were games where, even though they were ugly, they were
- 5:51revolutionary during the time they came out.
- 5:55During the time they came out, you just felt like you were an
- 5:58entirely different world, like it was a world that was real.
- 6:03It was good. You actually felt like you had a
- 6:06goal. But Bethesda also had a lot of
- 6:10problems, too, because the idea that they sold to the community
- 6:14was These were supposed to be immersive games.
- 6:18But as they later continued, it became more and more about copy
- 6:21paste worlds and areas together that look exactly the same.
- 6:27You could see the same rock formations, the same clutter
- 6:30trees, the same shit, and either there was no NPCS and things
- 6:37were absolutely barren or they started bringing in NPCS and
- 6:41these were just long winded people just to give the illusion
- 6:46that. Something was going on when it
- 6:48actually wasn't. I remember thinking to myself,
- 6:56they're not going to blow this, are they?
- 6:59Are they going to ruin their entire reputation?
- 7:02Because Bethesda was built to pardon games like Morrowind.
- 7:05It was built on Elder Scrolls. It was built on the Fallout
- 7:09franchise. And now it feels like what
- 7:12happened to Stall wars and Indiana Jones and all this shit
- 7:16where things just got put out just for money and just for the
- 7:20purpose of a corporation getting bigger.
- 7:23And you can tell that there's a lot of culture elements in
- 7:27Starfield that we're not in prior games as though they had a
- 7:32political agenda or that they were being paid to make sure
- 7:36that they. Confront all the bullshit that
- 7:40you go through and a lot of gamers got mad about this.
- 7:42Like a lot of people are accusing Starfield of being
- 7:45woke, and it is The moment you get into the game, you've got
- 7:50the independent, strong woman who talks down to men as though
- 7:55they're dumb and that they wouldn't be able to do their
- 7:58fucking job unless they had a woman standing over them yelling
- 8:01at them. And of course she was Asian.
- 8:04Had to be that. Then they go on to basically
- 8:08throwing you into this thing where it just feels like it's
- 8:12all rushed together. You're doing pronouns in this
- 8:17game. Everybody looks Asian, Everybody
- 8:20looks, has the whole diversity thing just really, it's so
- 8:25thrown into your face it's impossible to miss it.
- 8:28It's impossible for you to walk through Atlantis and not say
- 8:33that that's not the case. Every leader in the game is some
- 8:39woman who is talking down to you or trashing you or whatever.
- 8:43This is, unfortunately the woke's interpretation of what a
- 8:47woman is. Women are not pretty anymore.
- 8:50They're not feminine. They're not nurture, nurturing.
- 8:55Now they're women are mean ass corporate men according to the
- 9:00woke people and also. Everybody's got the fucking pink
- 9:06and green and purple type hair and all that shit.
- 9:09For whatever reason, everybody looks like goblins and shit.
- 9:12Have you noticed that when you're playing the video game,
- 9:15everybody's fucking staring at you?
- 9:18What? Why is that?
- 9:19What was the designer thinking whenever he said to himself, you
- 9:23know, all these people have dead eyes.
- 9:26Let's have them all stare at the guy who got off the ship as
- 9:30though you're important. See the thing about?
- 9:33Elder Scrolls and Fallout is Nobody knows who you are.
- 9:38Nobody has any reason to talk to you.
- 9:40While you're going to Atlantis. You're supposed to be a nobody,
- 9:44a no name who builds himself up to his skills and
- 9:48accomplishments, and before he's noticed.
- 9:52But right off the bat, the game wants you to think all this.
- 9:56Even the quests themselves are copied and pasted, like go get
- 9:59the artifact, they all look the same.
- 10:02There's like 20 something artifacts, and it all does the
- 10:06same thing. You run through a point of
- 10:08interest, you find the artifact, you bring it back back and
- 10:12forth, back and forth, and then finally they start telling you
- 10:15to do another copy and paste scenario where you're going to
- 10:18temples over and over and over and over and you got to jump to
- 10:22a bunch of hoops, literally, that are supposed to be stars.
- 10:29I really. I guess the thing that really
- 10:31got me hyped up is that I knew that Bethesda was on their last
- 10:35leg. I knew that they had taken so
- 10:38long to produce anything worth the shit that this had to be
- 10:43their big baby or Bethesda was over that it was the end of it.
- 10:48And Bethesda probably realized that too.
- 10:51They screwed up with Fallout 76. They.
- 10:53Released games in the past that had tons of glitches that made
- 10:57their games unplayable and broken, but it was the modders
- 11:01who came along and actually added more content.
- 11:05Actually cleaned it up, balanced out the game, made the combat
- 11:09feel better, added more animals and creatures.
- 11:14There's literally a modern Nexus that adds over 1000 different
- 11:18animals and creatures into the world of Fallout 4.
- 11:22Into the Commonwealth, you can go places and see squirrels on
- 11:27trees. You'll see birds flying around.
- 11:29You'll, besides the fake ass, play DoH crows or Ravens that
- 11:33they put in the original game. One thing about Fallout 4 and
- 11:39Elder Scrolls that Starfield doesn't have, which many of you
- 11:43may not have noticed, is that when you go into Elder Scrolls,
- 11:46you're going to be talking to elves.
- 11:48You're going to be talking to creatures that are totally
- 11:52unique. You're going to be talking to
- 11:53cat people and shit and Starfield.
- 11:57There is no other kind of race, It's all humans.
- 12:01There's a couple ugly, badly generated, pre generated
- 12:06creatures that are on worlds and shit, but that's it.
- 12:11There was no love put into it and it's one of the reasons why
- 12:15a lot of people are saying the game has no soul.
- 12:18It doesn't. And what's really sad is I
- 12:20wanted it to. I figured Bethesda wants to
- 12:24impress the shit out of Microsoft.
- 12:25It wants to sell the game. Well, Todd Howard succeeded at
- 12:30selling an unbelievable amount of games, but the only reason
- 12:34why the game sold so well and is considered, you know, high in
- 12:38the ratings of a bought game is because we all.
- 12:44Figured that Todd Howard was going to get it right this time,
- 12:46so we trusted him and we bought it.
- 12:49He came out on stage several times and he talked about how
- 12:53great this game is going to be, that it's going to totally blow
- 12:55Skyrim and fall out of the water, that it's going to be
- 12:59immersive and you're going to be able to explore.
- 13:02How the fuck does he know that we're going to be exploring
- 13:05anything if everything is pre generated?
- 13:08This shit doesn't just magically pre generate itself, it has to
- 13:11be programmed to do that. And what it's doing is it's
- 13:15simply taking a planet and then copy and pasting different
- 13:20colored textures into the environment.
- 13:22It's the same world, just different colors.
- 13:26That's not, that's not change. So what now?
- 13:32The Bush is purple instead of green like it normally should
- 13:35be. There's there's nothing going on
- 13:37and you don't feel as though. How do I put this?
- 13:43Why would you create a game about space where you don't even
- 13:47spend time in space? Unless you're like having a like
- 13:51a stupid ass conversation with some person you've hailed, which
- 13:55is usually a character that is wanting something from you.
- 13:59Or they're warning you that there's a ship battle coming up,
- 14:03and that's really all that space involves in this game is
- 14:07shooting other fucking. Chips.
- 14:12That's it. There's no exploration of space.
- 14:16You go down on a planet, you are met with a copy and paste deal,
- 14:20and then on top of it the game does something really, really
- 14:24stupid that they shouldn't have. See, Bethesda could have got
- 14:28away with a bunch of bullshit for a long time, hadn't they
- 14:31ruined the illusion for you? Do you remember when you're
- 14:34playing Fallout in Skyrim? And you're going forward and you
- 14:38have absolutely no idea what is going to be ahead of you.
- 14:43If you run 500 miles or you run for about 5 minutes, you don't
- 14:49know what you're going to run into.
- 14:51You don't know if you're going to run into a structure or a
- 14:54cave or something like that. You find it on your own.
- 14:58That's the whole point of exploring is you find shit on
- 15:00your own in Starfield the moment you land.
- 15:06Supposedly your scanner tells you that there's a structure off
- 15:09in the distance, that there's a cave, that there's a natural
- 15:13thing, there's a symbol for natural and you'll have to run a
- 15:17long, long fucking distance. Have you guys heard their excuse
- 15:21on why it is they think that you should run through a pre
- 15:23generated world 500 miles. You're in the future ladies and
- 15:30gentlemen. This is hundreds of years in the
- 15:32future but they don't believe in Rovers.
- 15:35They don't believe in transportation or driving
- 15:37anything. Your guy is just going to get
- 15:40out of it. He's going to land as far away
- 15:42from the fucking objects as possible and then run you to the
- 15:47point where they know that you just have a little bit enough
- 15:49weight to be able to carry some items and shit.
- 15:53And it's all the same kind of items.
- 15:56That's what's fucking amazing to me, ladies and gentlemen.
- 15:58No matter where I go, I have no innovation or initiative.
- 16:05On why I should open unlock a fucking box or why I should go
- 16:09into a door. I know damn well there ain't
- 16:12nothing going to be on the other side.
- 16:14I know damn well that if I continue to run, I'm already
- 16:18going to know exactly what's off in the distance.
- 16:20Because the fucking game is telling me before I even get
- 16:23there. It's just telling me that in
- 16:25order to get to a copy and paste point of interest, that is
- 16:30basically another copy paste of point of interest.
- 16:34I got to keep running and running and running and I get
- 16:38there and there'll be nothing new.
- 16:40Nothing. I can't believe how limited the
- 16:47shipbuilding is too. They basically tell you, Oh
- 16:52yeah, you can only do this kind of shit and everything, and you
- 16:55got to have this many points. See when you played Skyrim in
- 16:59Fallout. You felt as though it made
- 17:02sense, as though it flowed when you were putting your skill
- 17:05points in. You could imagine to yourself
- 17:07that you're getting stronger and stronger.
- 17:10But this game is telling you that in order to be able to have
- 17:13more crew members, you have to fill up an entire persuasion
- 17:17thing. Really, In order for me to have
- 17:20more crew members, I have to be a fucking master of talking and
- 17:25socializing. Seriously.
- 17:30See, Fallout allowed you to say at the very beginning of the
- 17:33game you got to put points in where you thought that you would
- 17:36be most effective. But this was a cookie cutter
- 17:40type of skill tree that they had in space field.
- 17:42So now our * field and you can't.
- 17:46You have to basically put points in the shit that you don't want
- 17:49to do. If you put enough in Charisma,
- 17:52then you'll be put in that in Fallout. 76, Fallout 4, Skyrim,
- 17:57Oblivion, Morrowind. All these games are like that.
- 18:00Even Elder Scrolls Online didn't make the stupid fucking mistake
- 18:03of doing that. It should be.
- 18:07The more I use a certain gun, the more I scale up in that
- 18:11shed. Not that I have to actually
- 18:13choose the option and then my character will suddenly start
- 18:17doing something. Why is it that outpost?
- 18:21Settings are way at the bottom of the skill tree.
- 18:24That doesn't make any sense. Why would I need to have points
- 18:28and outposts whenever you know that you've got other people who
- 18:32are going to be staying there the whole time while you're
- 18:33running off to Inquest? The crafting system's fucking
- 18:40horrible too. I feel like I don't know how
- 18:44many of you ever played like The Sims before.
- 18:48But The Sims was a game where it got good and then it got better.
- 18:52When it did Sims 2 and then Sims 3, it came to its climax like
- 18:58World of Warcraft. World of Warcraft had the first
- 19:01one, then they had their Burning Crusade and then they had their
- 19:03Lich King and it was like bam, this is great.
- 19:07And then suddenly the companies became greedy and they put a
- 19:11Sims 4 out and they removed tons of features.
- 19:15And it was no longer an open world anymore, and lots of
- 19:19things were fucking missing everything and it felt lifeless
- 19:24without a soul. And the reason why is because
- 19:26the game was designed specifically to sell, and the
- 19:30company made an agreement that we're going to send out a
- 19:34stripped, broken game, and then later we'll sell expansion packs
- 19:39and DLCS and shit, they basically stripped the game.
- 19:43And tell you that in order to be able to have the complete game,
- 19:47you're going to have to spend 50 to 30 more fucking dollars in
- 19:51order to add stuff that should have already been in that was
- 19:54already priorly in the other games.
- 19:57You see what I'm saying? It's a fucking joke.
- 20:00It's a shill. And Bethesda has finally sold
- 20:04their soul. They said we're not going to
- 20:06make exploration games anymore, we're just going to do a copy
- 20:09paste Minecraft type of deal. And if people want more than,
- 20:14they'll just have to wait on us to get off our lazy asses and
- 20:18create a modding service so people can get in there and
- 20:22fucking make the game more interesting.
- 20:24That's what they're banking on. But I think the original idea
- 20:28was, how can we sell this product and save Xbox?
- 20:32Because Xbox was competing against PS5, and they're also
- 20:38going against the Steam deck and all kinds of shit in the Steam
- 20:41console. So they had to do something big.
- 20:45They were putting all their eggs in one basket because they said
- 20:47we're no longer working with Sony anymore, we're going to go
- 20:50straight up Microsoft. So we got to go big.
- 20:56So what have they done? They decided to tell you, Oh
- 21:01yeah, we've got all kinds of games that we're making.
- 21:04We got Elder Scrolls coming, We got a Fallout 5 coming, all this
- 21:09shit, but it'll be years down the road.
- 21:13I'm almost 50 years old, people. I don't want to wait.
- 21:16Fuck five years. And besides, I already know that
- 21:19even if they weren't lying and they decide to put those games
- 21:22out, it'll take forever for monitors to be able to get
- 21:26around to getting into that shit.
- 21:29Starkill was supposed to be my baby.
- 21:31It was supposed to be the game that I the final game that I
- 21:35bought so that I can just go and have a really, really good time
- 21:40and kind of immerse and live myself in a game.
- 21:43I've been saying that over and over before the game released,
- 21:47but I had no idea that they were going to fuck people so hard
- 21:51that they basically said let's send a stripped out game.
- 21:55That is, you just talk to a long winded person, go to another
- 21:59long winded person and that's the quest and it would be a
- 22:02succession of redundant, repetitive, radiant quest.
- 22:07Go do this, come back, go do this, come back.
- 22:13Apparently in the future you don't have the ability to just
- 22:17simply get on your ship that is a technological masterpiece and
- 22:21just simply click a button in your ship to find quest in the
- 22:26area. And apparently when you're
- 22:29walking through cities, everybody in the world knows you
- 22:32because for some reason the guards, when they see you, they
- 22:36tell you about everything that's wrong with the city and you're
- 22:39expected to fix it. And when I say broken and needs
- 22:43fixing, I'm talking about Quest. Like, go get me some coffee, go
- 22:50go talk to the parents, go click some switches in the well, this
- 22:55kind of shit. Oh God, what a what a horrible
- 23:01thing. It's so weird because Todd
- 23:09Howard has been around for years and so has Bethesda, and they
- 23:14could have just easily went back and looked at what what it was
- 23:19about Skyrim that was magical for people.
- 23:23They could have looked at Morrowind fall out and said this
- 23:29is what people want, this is what people like.
- 23:36Have you noticed, ladies and gentlemen, and this is the last
- 23:38thing I got to say about it. I've already done a pretty
- 23:41extensive criticism of Starfield in a prior video, but if you
- 23:48notice that Bethesda has laid off a lot of people, or
- 23:51supposedly these people left after Starfield was created,
- 23:55they retired. Of course they retired.
- 23:59They made a huge amount of money and on top of that some of them
- 24:03actually were disappointed and sad because Todd Howard
- 24:07manufactured or basically pre generated lies to the public so
- 24:12he could sell a game to save Xbox and they had no plans of
- 24:18actually ever releasing a game that was good.
- 24:21The biggest lie they told was this game has been worked on for
- 24:2625 years. Really 25 years.
- 24:31This is 25 years of work. Are you kidding me?
- 24:37The house is basically, I don't know if any of you know this,
- 24:40but if you're playing Fallout 4, there's a mob that you can get
- 24:44where it gives the appearance that you're in a helicopter and
- 24:48then you're ported somewhere, but the helicopter doesn't
- 24:51actually go anywhere. It gives the appearance that you
- 24:53can look out a window and that you can look out a hole, but
- 24:57it's not actually doing anything.
- 24:59It's teleporting you to another fucking box, basically another
- 25:04part of the graph. It's an illusion.
- 25:07It gives you the idea that you're somewhere that you're not
- 25:12and that's what they've done. They basically the game is load
- 25:16screen after load screen and the animation illusions.
- 25:20It gives you the idea that you're actually going up and
- 25:23going down and shit when you're not.
- 25:29All right, that's that. I'm really disgusted with this
- 25:36and I one of the other things to one last thing I want to say
- 25:39before I shut this down. It's been over a month and a
- 25:43half now since Starfield was released.
- 25:46They claimed that they were going to do some quality of life
- 25:50changes to the game, and one of those quality of life changes
- 25:53was a fucking eat button ladies and gentlemen.
- 25:56It's where you don't have to put a bunch of bullshit in your
- 25:59inventory and then have to remind yourself to go through
- 26:01all the crap in order to eat some food in the game.
- 26:05There's supposed to be a button where you could eat it right off
- 26:08the damn table. It's been a month and a half and
- 26:12they still haven't put that in, and it makes you think.
- 26:17If they are so slow at doing something like that, imagine how
- 26:22fucking horrible it's got to be. For anything else, Bethesda's
- 26:27got really shitty riders and they've got people who are
- 26:32apparently not testing the game out before it's released.
- 26:39It's just it's dead dead in the water.
- 26:42And I'll never trust Todd Howard again.
- 26:44I'll never trust anything. This fucking guy says he's now
- 26:48become corporate. He doesn't give a fuck about the
- 26:50gamer and the experience they make.
- 26:53People pay $100 to play a copy paste fucking game.
- 26:57That's robbery. That's theft.
- 26:59It's a scam.
