- 0:48[SPEAKER_01]: Hey everybody, Brian Smith here with the I'm team series and your daily influence.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's New Year's Eve, 2026 and you know, I am trying to stay intentional.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_01]: It's really funny.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_01]: My oldest friend has been texting me and he always gives me a hard time for working too much.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_01]: He thinks that I need to slow down, take a breather relax.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_01]: For me, relaxing is being intentional about what I do and that includes bringing these all prime messages.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_01]: I do it because I think that there are enough people out there that appreciate the influence it can have.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_01]: And that's what this theme is about for
- 1:33[SPEAKER_01]: 2026, it's intention, not expectation.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_01]: This day is about direction.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_01]: We have an opportunity to slow down and be intentional about the direction we're going to take.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_01]: Not how fast, not how long it's going to take, not how much just the direction.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: And if we can move in the right direction and then be intentional about staying on that path, then
- 1:56[SPEAKER_01]: We can stay oriented towards what our goals and objectives are.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yesterday was about letting go.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_01]: Today's about getting that direction in our mindset intentionally.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_01]: We don't need momentum yet.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_01]: We've got the whole year in front of us.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_01]: We just need to be pointed correctly in our minds the way that we're thinking.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_01]: What direction do you want?
- 2:17[SPEAKER_01]: that influence to be this year.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_01]: Who do you want to be more intentional with that can help you stay in the path?
- 2:25[SPEAKER_01]: What will your area of influence feel like with those people who help you, or who you ask to help you, or who you give directions to?
- 2:34[SPEAKER_01]: These types of clarity opportunities are important.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_01]: And don't just do it today, do it on a regular cadence.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_01]: Think about these things more intentionally, more often.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_01]: to make sure and to gut check yourself where you're at.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Kevin challenges me all the time to be intentional about myself, take more time for myself.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_01]: And I love the time that we spend together, but I love the time that I put in to helping others be there best selves also.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_01]: And it's so important to me, and I get so much fulfillment from it that
- 3:16[SPEAKER_01]: a podcast.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_01]: I find myself working through holidays and my family has seen this for a long time and it's so important to me that they understand.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_01]: They also understand that I challenge myself regularly on how I show up, how I listen, how I listen to my friend Kevin, and actually take those questions those challenges very seriously.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_01]: I set aside very real time with them.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: he was surprised when I picked he and his wife up for their trip south for the winter when I showed up at his house to get he and his cat and that I took the time to spend time with him.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_01]: I know that's not what he meant a trip to the airport, but it's the little things.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_01]: And I do listen and you need to also.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_01]: And how do you respond to pressure?
- 4:07[SPEAKER_01]: I feel pressure to spend
- 4:13[SPEAKER_01]: How do you respond to that?
- 4:15[SPEAKER_01]: How do you slow down and embrace it?
- 4:17[SPEAKER_01]: Start to plan that out.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_01]: This is the day to be oriented towards these things.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: Consistency beats intensity every time, especially as it comes to our influence.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_01]: So be as consistent in alignment, be as consistent in what you do, expectations, holding yourself accountable.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: be as consistent as you can because you are still the eye in your team.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_01]: You are the individual, you are the influence.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_01]: The team is the individual also.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_01]: Teams don't reset individuals to.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_01]: So help yourself and your team to move through these resets, to get back oriented together,
- 5:03[SPEAKER_01]: your behavior and your reactions will set the tone and there's will also and share that with them.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_01]: Let them learn what it's like to be a leader.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_01]: Give them the tools, give them the support, give them the leader to recognize your behavior that will help them be their best selves.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_01]: Also, your presence will make the difference and your responsible influence begins with
- 5:30[SPEAKER_01]: ownership of your role, ownership of the impact influence that you have, and ownership of your own growth, that self-improvement, that continuous improvement, that you show others that you put into yourself and that you help others realize also.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_01]: When you improve yourself, you elevate everybody around you.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_01]: So, collective improvement begins with individual responsibility
- 5:55[SPEAKER_01]: And ultimately, with your individual improvement also.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_01]: So look, this year doesn't need to have a perfect plan.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_01]: It needs intentional people willing to show up, reflect and improve one day at a time.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_01]: And that's it.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_01]: So I hope that you have an amazing start to 2026 and I look forward to having you join us on daily influence throughout the year as we bring you what I would hope is positive and responsible influence to help in yourself and continuous improvement journey.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_01]: Have a great day.
