- 0:10>> So, as you can see, we're here. >> Yes. >> I didn't manage to I did have a single
- 0:15room, but they sort of kicked me out of hospital before we recorded, so >> Okay.
- 0:19>> That's why. And then we had to record a day later cuz I was asleep.
- 0:23>> How'd you go? You're You're here, so >> I'm fine. It doesn't do anything for me.
- 0:26It's weird. Like I I get what you mean. >> No, it's it's not working as much, but I
- 0:32mean like even during the treatment, I'm not as loopy as I once was. >> Oh, I see.
- 0:37>> And even it's sort of weird. Like they even came in like midway and I may
- 0:41having any hallucinations or anything and evidently people don't deal with it
- 0:46quite well and I've never had anything like that. >> Acclimatized to it. So, we should be
- 0:50clarify you're having ketamine infusions or something like >> Ketamine, yes. >> Yeah.
- 0:54>> Yes. >> Luke's got a bad way. >> Matthew Perry, people call it the
- 0:56Matthew Perry. I call it I say he called it the Luke. >> Yeah.
- 1:00Well, if he if he'd done it your way, he'd be around to talk about it.
- 1:04>> fine. I want to know how he gets his hands on it legally though.
- 1:08>> Yeah. Does it So, I mean we should probably be careful about this, but having done it
- 1:14under controlled circumstances for that long, do you know what all the fuss is
- 1:17about or It sounds like no. I was going to say sounds like no.
- 1:20>> I've no idea what the people are going on about. >> Yeah, right.
- 1:24>> Like this is not a drug I would take recreationally. That's a word. >> [laughter]
- 1:29>> Poor. It's having an effect on your speech. >> Because it just it just I don't know. It
- 1:34makes me tired or I don't know if it's that the drug making me tired or the
- 1:38fact that they have to check my blood pressure every 2 hours.
- 1:41>> Right. So, they have to come in and >> me tired. I have to wait for them.
- 1:44>> that without waking you up? Doesn't that pump require you to be awake?
- 1:49>> It doesn't, but I wake up when they enter the room. Oh, I see. There was one
- 1:53>> ninja training. >> Yes. Didn't have a couple of nice nurses
- 1:56who were I'm going to check your blood pressure now. I know you're fine.
- 2:01I'm not going to check it again the rest of the night. >> Oh, okay.
- 2:04>> I'll just stick my head in every now and again to make sure takes they do have to
- 2:07take some readings of the the infusion the drip thing, but I still wake up for that, but
- 2:14>> Man, that's doesn't sound good. >> The nurses are getting to know me, which is weird.
- 2:19>> Yeah. Well, how often do you go in now? >> Um, I don't know. This is the first time
- 2:23I've been in for about a year, but I should be going in every 6 months, but
- 2:27probably sooner now. >> Okay. All right. Well, >> but I made it back.
- 2:33>> Yeah, clearly. >> no episodes because of my trip.
- 2:36>> Not just cuz of America's birthday the week before. Yes. Yeah, I don't know
- 2:41we'll talk about this. I I got to go in for a procedure. I don't know what the
- 2:44[ __ ] going to happen. I've never been to a hospital, so we'll see what happens
- 2:47that week. >> [laughter] >> No [ __ ] idea. See, I've got it easy where I've been in
- 2:52and out of hospital for >> Yeah, yeah. >> 35 years, so >> Yeah, you do the in hospital.
- 2:58>> [laughter] >> Whatever. >> Yeah, it's simple. So, I know the drill.
- 3:04This will be interesting for you. I think the hardest thing will be the fasting.
- 3:10>> Do I have to do that? >> Yeah, you have to fast before you go in for surgery.
- 3:13>> Does it say that? >> Yes, it does. >> I think it says nothing the day of.
- 3:19I think it's what it says. >> yeah, that's it. You can't you don't get
- 3:22to before the surgery. You don't have to fast for like a week or anything. >> Oh.
- 3:25>> The day of you don't eat anything like after midnight. >> Oh, that's fine.
- 3:29>> So, no breakfast, no coffee, you know, nothing. >> That's fine. Yeah, I can do that.
- 3:33>> But that that's the only thing I think will get you.
- 3:35>> I have to do that when I do lab work here for my annual checkups. It's fine, mate.
- 3:39>> Oh, it's fine for me as well, cuz every time I get a blood test where I'm meant
- 3:42to go fasting, well, I don't eat breakfast. >> Yeah. >> Well, I just rock up.
- 3:47>> I do, right? I cannot. It's fine. >> Yeah, I I don't. I just duck over before
- 3:51lunch, get it and go to lunch. >> I just like breakfast. Breakfast is my
- 3:55favorite meal, I think. >> Really? >> Yeah, I breakfast foods I just like.
- 4:00>> I like breakfast foods. I don't like breakfast. >> Yeah, okay.
- 4:04>> Cuz that's more sleep time. >> Yeah, but people think it's Yeah, I
- 4:08don't know. It's hard to make yourself scrambled eggs at lunchtime when you've
- 4:12got a family and everyone's like, "Fucking what that for lunch?"
- 4:15>> I got scrambled eggs this week, it was great. >> What makes it great? Anyway,
- 4:20>> [laughter] >> uh we've been busy bees watching movies.
- 4:25Uh well, you you less so this week. >> Yeah, I I I watched one movie, which I
- 4:30just got back from. >> Uh I also watched that movie, so we
- 4:33could talk about it if you'd like to. I am my daughter is with uh Jen's auntie.
- 4:40>> Okay. >> They went to the beach house. So, um and
- 4:44uh Jen just had surgery on her hand, and I'm >> I'm somewhat incapacitated with my medical
- 4:49>> [laughter] >> issues that >> You're not running around anyway.
- 4:51>> No, I've got my my spine is not cooperating right now. Um
- 4:55So, we're like, "Well, what do we do? Uh how do we exist without a child?
- 4:59Can't remember. What do we do? >> It's been a long time. >> and go to a movie. Like
- 5:04>> Oh, so you went out to the movies? >> Yeah, together. >> Like how?
- 5:09>> Actually, I just go by myself. Um or with friends, but like not with Jenna.
- 5:15Uh so, anyway, yes, we also went and saw Evil Dead Rise. >> What did you think?
- 5:21>> Uh I really liked it. >> I liked it. There were a few scenes that
- 5:24were that was awesome to watch. >> The some of the camera work and like the
- 5:31cinematography in this was like [ __ ] crazy. Like
- 5:34>> It's just the one thing that's really putting in my mind is where the main
- 5:38girl is crawling away and that fight's happening behind her. >> Oh, yeah. That was
- 5:43>> And it's just Yeah, that was >> where she's like crawling through the
- 5:46house and there's like people >> [laughter] >> Being thrown through walls and running
- 5:50away, being chased and yeah, that was that stood out. >> There's one shot where I went
- 5:57we'll try and do no spoilers. >> Yeah, I'm trying.
- 5:59>> Although I mean it's like it's an Evil Dead movie. The spoiler is that the
- 6:02people get possessed by Kandarian demons and then they try
- 6:05>> And the rules sort of change depending on >> Yeah, exactly. Yeah, it doesn't just just
- 6:12watch the movie. >> Don't [laughter] worry about it too much.
- 6:14>> Actually it's more like with this one I felt like
- 6:18the the plot with the family and stuff was was pretty solid and like it's got
- 6:23themes of like you know domestic abuse and family trauma and stuff like that
- 6:26and I was like, "Oh, okay, this is like a neat way to tie it into the the demon
- 6:30thing and it's kind of like Yeah, I thought that was really cool. But yes, the
- 6:36the the lore of like how the demons work and the book of it's kind of like, "Eh,
- 6:40don't worry about that too >> Yeah, don't worry about like how you kill them is
- 6:44>> Oh, exactly. >> Yeah, exactly. Yeah, yeah. Like Yeah, sometimes
- 6:50they were dealt with and I was like, "Well, that wouldn't fly in one of the
- 6:53previous movies." Like that >> [laughter] >> that guy's coming back. >> Yeah. >> Um
- 7:00But there's a shot where she the main character is fighting someone, I think
- 7:05it's at the top of the stairs and anyway and you see that they're fighting and
- 7:08then they smash into the mirror. >> Mhm. >> But then it smashes and you realize,
- 7:12"Oh, it was being filmed through the mirror." And then the and then the
- 7:15camera turns and it's like, "Woah, [ __ ] that was cool." Like like the camera was
- 7:20pointed at the mirror >> Yeah, no, they did some great stuff with
- 7:24how that was filmed. Like that was I do call [ __ ] on the
- 7:29how many televisions broke and the fact that they broke in a weird way and I
- 7:32got, "That's just using the force." >> one bit where you Yeah, where she
- 7:36someone hits the TV and this person's smile was on this Yeah, it was I mean, I
- 7:40laughed, it was great. >> I laughed. Anyway, that's a spoiler. The grandmother was funny.
- 7:44>> Yes. >> They got a bit of humor in there every now and again.
- 7:47>> Yeah. Yeah, it's certainly um
- 7:51like the last one was too more like dark than the originals. The originals
- 7:58were dark and scary and and gory, and this is all of those things, but the the originals
- 8:04less so the first one. The first one had some funny stuff. Like the deadites were
- 8:08funny, but like mean. This is just like mostly just mean. >> [laughter]
- 8:14>> Yeah. Yeah, it's definitely it's not the sequel. It's not Evil Dead
- 8:19>> No, Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness are half comedy movies. >> Still my favorites.
- 8:23>> Yeah, of course. Yeah, but and then Ash vs Evil Dead the TV series >> That was
- 8:29>> continued that. Yeah. Yeah, but the new ones like um
- 8:33So there's the one the I forget the year. The one I forget I can't pronounce his first
- 8:38name. Fede Fede Alvarez, the guy who did Alien: Romulus. He did a
- 8:42it was just Evil Dead. It was like a remake. It was really good. >> blood.
- 8:47>> Yes. Yeah, that one was really good, but it was also not funny.
- 8:52>> Yeah, no, they they're not Yeah, the funny was just
- 8:57Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness. Now they're going now it's a horror movie again. That's
- 9:02And I think they're hoping for a sequel. >> Yeah. Yeah, did you watch post-credits?
- 9:07There's post-credits scene, people. So >> Yes, there's two.
- 9:10>> Yes, that's right. There's two. Yes. >> Yes. I always double-check before I go
- 9:14in and sit down at a movie like am I waiting for credits or not? >> Yeah. >> [snorts]
- 9:19>> This one might be the goriest one. It's pretty
- 9:23brutal in parts. Like um >> I just >> warned about that, too. There's some
- 9:30stuff in this that I was just like, "Oh god." >> Like I think one thing I will say like
- 9:35the one where you understand it where he's got the gun and he's shooting.
- 9:40>> Yes, there's that. >> That is gory as hell and oh my god, I've
- 9:45never seen a movie go to that extent. >> I was like, oh that's like, yeah, normally they
- 9:51>> I don't know. Cut away. >> There's a few things in this where it's
- 9:54like times have changed and I think like people are okay, well, obviously this
- 10:00movie is okay with putting things in where they would have been like, oh we
- 10:03probably shouldn't show that, kind of thing. Even when they would show other things. So.
- 10:07>> Yeah. But that's that's the scene. >> was really gruesome and in- intense, I
- 10:12would say violence. >> But yeah, I can't think of another movie
- 10:14that has a scene like that where they actually shot
- 10:18>> yeah, it's emotionally intense in a way that sometimes they don't do that just
- 10:22because it's like, oh that might be too much. This one was like, ah [ __ ] it,
- 10:25we're doing it. >> it, we're doing it. >> Yeah. >> So, look, get out and see it.
- 10:31>> Yeah, it's good. >> Or wait for streaming. >> Yeah. I feel like
- 10:35this this kind of movie will get to streaming pretty quick, I think. Cuz
- 10:38they know that's where the tail of the >> Well, even at the moment like we at the
- 10:43cinemas near me, there it's only one screening a day. >> Oh, okay. We've got
- 10:48>> Cuz I think most of the cinemas are now just the Odyssey.
- 10:53>> Yeah, I'm seeing that this week. >> Yeah, I'm going to try and see it this
- 10:57week cuz someone wrote it in the Discord that I should see it.
- 11:00>> I've got tickets. It's all happening. >> I might see it tomorrow.
- 11:04>> I'm seeing it Wednesday. So, uh we can talk about it next week, hopefully.
- 11:09>> Cuz I'm assuming >> Talk about it in some capacity. Either
- 11:11I'll have seen it or we both will have. >> Cuz I'm assuming no one's going to be at
- 11:13the movies tomorrow during the day and I'm thinking about just not going to work. >> Mhm.
- 11:20>> Cuz my sleep pattern's messed up, so yeah, I just >> take a day off and
- 11:27if I just go and see it, if I check this now, >> You know >> a Christopher Nolan movie.
- 11:34>> I know, but someone in Discord said I have to go and see it.
- 11:37>> I know. I I'm aware. I remember when I put that in there. >> Yep. [laughter]
- 11:42>> Uh if you want to know what the Discord is, just go to patreon.com/multiple nerdgasm
- 11:46multiple nerdgasm. >> Mhm. >> Sign up for free on the Patreon. You
- 11:50don't have to pay anything and you can get access to the Discord and then you
- 11:52can tell Luke what he has to go watch and talk gutters and
- 11:55>> And I'll do it even if I don't want to. >> Yeah, exactly. >> Yeah. >> Um
- 12:01Yeah, Jenna's not coming because she doesn't trust Christopher Nolan with a
- 12:053-hour block of her life these days. So >> I don't blame her.
- 12:10>> She's going to watch it later. >> [laughter] >> I don't trust him at all with anything.
- 12:15>> Uh I do. I do. I've He's never let me down, but then well,
- 12:20the only time I came out of a Christopher Nolan movie going, "I don't
- 12:23know about that." was Interstellar. Uh but then when I rewatched it, I was
- 12:28like, uh no, okay. I was I was I was
- 12:33I not wrong. I was wrong. >> [laughter] >> No, I don't But like I missed something
- 12:38about it the first time and I like, okay, I now I like it. >> And I famously don't go
- 12:43don't do not like going to movies where I have to think about the ending.
- 12:46>> Yeah. Well, I don't know if this is going to be one of those. We'll see.
- 12:50>> He'll He'll do something. >> You've lived the ending of Oppenheimer.
- 12:55So just [laughter] watch that. >> Oppenheimer wasn't bad. I like I liked that, but I
- 13:00>> Yeah. >> I still call [ __ ] on the explosion. >> Oh, you mean
- 13:05>> up to that and go, "It's all physical. It's amazing." >> Yeah.
- 13:09>> It could have been done done better with a bit of a help. It wasn't that impressive.
- 13:14>> No, it's a good It's a nice It's a neat achievement to have been able to to
- 13:20film it and be able to say, "That was all practical." >> Yeah.
- 13:24>> That's pretty cool. But But like you said, yeah, you could have also just
- 13:26CGI'd it, and no one would have known the difference.
- 13:28>> Yeah, it didn't add anything. It didn't look, yeah, amazing. It's just a cool
- 13:33thing to say. >> Yeah, we we did that. >> Yeah, exactly. Yeah. >> Yeah.
- 13:40>> Evil Dead Rise, uh a lot of practical effects, mostly. Uh very, very
- 13:46juicy. >> [laughter] >> Practical effects in parts, where it's
- 13:50just it's got a lot of that gross out stuff that Sam Raimi used to be really known for.
- 13:56>> They did do a bit of a >> There's a kissing scene that's disgusting. >> Yes.
- 14:00>> And uh and then um a few things like that where it's just
- 14:04very sloppy, and it and yeah, you can tell it's practical. And it I mean it
- 14:08in those circumstances, it works a lot because you could tell it's not CGI.
- 14:12It's just like, oh, gross. >> And the actor went all in for that. >> Yeah, so
- 14:19in that case, practical effects pay off because it's disgusting. [laughter] >> Yeah.
- 14:26But, you also watched another movie this week. >> I did.
- 14:29>> interested to hear what you think. >> Uh are you talking about Obsession?
- 14:34>> I am talking about Obsession. >> I did, I watched Obsession.
- 14:37Uh I really liked it. I really liked >> wasn't it? >> Yeah. Yeah, very creepy.
- 14:43Um some uh some intense stuff. Mostly just very
- 14:49like creepy and like like disturbing. >> Um yeah.
- 14:55>> Yeah, I really liked it. Uh that girl is great. I can see why she's suddenly
- 14:59famous. I read a thing that said that she they filmed this like years ago, and
- 15:03then she's just went back to her life. Uh as like a working doing whatever. She's
- 15:07like streams video games on Twitch or whatever. And then and then this movie
- 15:11came out, and then now she's like [ __ ] like a massive star because this
- 15:15movie's done so well. >> She was great in it. >> Yeah.
- 15:19>> But, I'm happy you You seen it cuz there's one thing I want to discuss, and
- 15:22there will be spoilers for this one because it's been out long enough. >> Okay. All right.
- 15:26>> The one thing I found So, the whole premise of this story is this guy's in
- 15:30love with this girl. >> Mhm. >> He finds this wish thing, makes a wish
- 15:34that he will wish he would love that he will love her more than anyone else in
- 15:38the world. She will love him. And you can imagine how that goes crazy where she's now
- 15:43obsessed with him. >> Yeah. >> The thing I found a bit weird about it was the best
- 15:48friend was trying to get them to hook up. At the beginning movie like ask her out,
- 15:53do this. But then later on the movie, you find out that the best friend and
- 15:57her have been hooking up all along. >> Yeah, I think he was like
- 16:01um well, he was sort of discouraging >> ask her out so you get rejected so
- 16:06>> it was like just get it out of the way so so then like >> they can >> Yeah.
- 16:12Yeah, so I think he must have un felt bad about the fact that his best
- 16:16friend's in love with this girl and he's been banging her. >> Yeah. >> And
- 16:20keeping it a secret. But then yeah, so then maybe he was just like yeah, just
- 16:23just tell her and then she can say no, we're just friends and then hopefully it will come
- 16:27>> I think a better way would have been trying to push him with the other friend
- 16:30who was into him. >> I thought the other two the two friends
- 16:34were together for the beginning part of the movie. I was confused about that
- 16:37relationship actually. I thought they were a couple for some reason. I don't know why.
- 16:41>> But no, it was just two guys two girls who two were banging in secret, one was in
- 16:46love with the other and that and >> Yeah. Yeah, it was sort of a weird triangle.
- 16:50>> I I thought they were sort of like it was a couple and then the other two, but no.
- 16:55It doesn't matter. Yeah. It all It all gets clarified.
- 16:59>> Yes, it does. But like oh no, it's just it was so good that movie and
- 17:06>> Yeah, really good performances. Um the writing's good. The creepiness is
- 17:11like you could tell it I'm assuming it didn't have a huge budget, but it did a
- 17:14lot with it. Like it was just really clever. >> Well, again, it shows that with horror
- 17:19movies you don't need huge budget. >> Like, a lot of the scariest scenes this
- 17:23my favorite scenes that I think of is literally just a bunch of people sitting
- 17:27at like that party scene. >> Yes. >> [ __ ] hell, man. That she is so good in that.
- 17:32>> Like, where she just like, "Oh, kiss the person to your left." And she just gets
- 17:35up and just drags the chair away. >> But, she just has that
- 17:40look at her face and it's just like, "Oh, [ __ ] What is she going to do?" Yeah. >> Oh.
- 17:46>> Yeah, really good. >> I don't know. There's one thing it made
- 17:49me think about at the end. It's about the end of a lot of horror movies. Even
- 17:52Evil Dead Burn. What happens with the law after that? After they find out all these people
- 17:58have been murdered. Especially with her when she does some of the murders and
- 18:02it's sort of like, how does she defend herself in court?
- 18:07>> There's a lot of them like that. They again, they just kind of like,
- 18:10"Ah, don't worry about it." >> Yeah. Yeah. But, not
- 18:14>> Yeah, how do how do you going to explain this to the police? >> Yeah. [laughter]
- 18:18>> Well, I guess in Obsession there's nobody Well, there's there's her. >> There's her.
- 18:23>> At the end. How she going to explain that? Yeah.
- 18:25>> How she going to And she's the one who did it. >> Yes, two of them.
- 18:31>> But, it's not her. >> Right. Yeah, yeah, but how do you explain that? Yeah, good point.
- 18:35>> But, there's there's one there's one scene I quite liked in it which I think
- 18:38was very creepy and again, shows didn't need budget was when she was asleep and
- 18:44he was trying to sneak out. >> Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah. She was just
- 18:48>> kill me. Like, and she's asleep at the entity or whatever is taking over. She's
- 18:53asleep at the moment. So, she's asking like, "Please kill me. I don't want to
- 18:56live like this." >> Yeah. Yeah, and he said something like, um
- 19:00"Oh, you want me to just wish that go back like you know, like I never had
- 19:03you?" And then she's like, "You've never You never had me. Like, that's not me."
- 19:07And she's like, "Yeah." That's [ __ ] creepy, man. >> [laughter]
- 19:11>> Like, yeah. And it when he's on the phone and oh, do you want to talk to her
- 19:14and you just hear her screaming in the background? >> Yeah.
- 19:18Yeah, the way that works is a little wishy-washy, but it doesn't really
- 19:22matter. [clears throat] >> No. It's like yeah. >> I like the I like that though where he's
- 19:26like, "Well, you're telling you me you you're saying you want to undo your
- 19:28wish?" He's like, "No, no, I just want to change it." "Oh, we don't really do
- 19:31that." "Okay, then I want to undo it." "Well, we don't really do that either." >> Well,
- 19:34>> [laughter] >> why did you offer it then? I like that
- 19:36thing cuz it was very like customer service. >> Yep. >> [laughter] >> Yeah, it's good.
- 19:43>> But look, yeah, definitely get out and see both of these. >> Yeah, is Obsession
- 19:47>> I think it's Obsession's coming to streaming very soon. I've seen it for sale.
- 19:52So, I'm guessing it's coming to streaming soon. >> It's It's been a massive hit. It's like
- 19:56I think it's the big one of the biggest movies of the year. Which uh
- 20:00it had a budget of $750,000. >> That's still insane. >> And uh
- 20:06let's see, box office, how much has it made now? >> Oh, must have done well at the box
- 20:10office. >> 430 million. It's one of the most profitable movies of all time.
- 20:17That's great. >> Oh, wow. >> Mhm. I mean, good on them.
- 20:23Uh I watched one other movie last night since since we had the ability to do that.
- 20:29Uh I watched Hokum, which is a movie >> I don't know that one.
- 20:33>> Uh it was recommended or mentioned by uh Dan, former co-host of this podcast, Dan.
- 20:39>> Mhm. >> He described it as a cozy horror film, which I hate. I hate that description. I
- 20:45don't know why. I don't know why. Cozy horror is just something like uh
- 20:49>> What's cozy horror? >> Well, >> Can you explain it yet? >> I think it's like
- 20:55you know, it's like a it's like folk horror. It's like set in Ireland. It's
- 21:01kind of like I get it. It's like a
- 21:06cozy horror. I don't know. >> Oh, got Adam Scott in it. Yeah.
- 21:11Yeah, it's about a guy who's an author, you know, a bit Stephen King in that
- 21:15regard. He's a writer. He He lost his parents clearly. You find
- 21:19out the start. He's got the ashes still sitting there.
- 21:22And then he's working on his next book and then some stuff happens and he
- 21:27finds some old um stuff around the house that reminds him
- 21:30that his parents went on a honeymoon to Ireland to this hotel and he decides to
- 21:34go there and spread their ashes. And weird [ __ ] happens. >> down.
- 21:40In a cozy way. >> In a Yeah, some cozy weird [ __ ] happens.
- 21:44Yeah. Uh no, it was good. I liked it. Yeah. >> Okay. >> It was um
- 21:48It's weird watching something like Evil Dead Burn and then watching something
- 21:51like Hokum. Hokum is much less gory. >> Yeah. >> [laughter]
- 21:55>> Obviously, but it has some very intense moments. And my I think my brain was prepared
- 22:02in a way that it didn't need to be for like intense violence. >> [laughter]
- 22:07>> There's very little violence in this one. It's more of a
- 22:11creepy cozy horror. >> Okay. >> There's like a little bit of uh of stuff, but um
- 22:18>> Yeah. >> Yeah, I really liked it. Yeah, it's good. Uh >> Should I watch it?
- 22:24>> Yeah, I think so. >> Okay. >> There's a character that reminds me of
- 22:26you. You're going to be offended when you see it. >> Oh. >> [laughter]
- 22:30>> There's a particular There's a scene that I said to Jenna,
- 22:35"It's Luke Leave in the hospital." >> [laughter]
- 22:39>> All right, I will try and watch it then. >> Mhm. >> There is one movie I'm going to be
- 22:45watching soon >> Mhm. >> I just saw has appeared on Prime and that's The Toxic Avenger.
- 22:51>> Oh, is that available now? >> on Prime. I just saw that. >> The new one?
- 22:56>> The original one. The Troma one. >> No, but the that we've been watching
- 22:59since the '80s. Um >> Yes. >> Interesting with Peter Dinklage as Tyrion.
- 23:04>> So, I'm going to I I saw it when I got home from hospital and I went, "I'm
- 23:08going to sit down and watch this." I turned it on and I fell asleep in about 15 minutes.
- 23:13>> Okay. >> So, I need to I'll probably watch it after this cuz I'm I'm probably going to
- 23:17be awake. >> It's on Is it just free for streaming on there?
- 23:21>> Yeah, it's just on Prime. Just normal. >> There you go. I might check that out.
- 23:28We've got Well, see, we've got sometime today, but then there's also there's two
- 23:32sport things happening today that we were like, "No, we should be but
- 23:35watching sport things." >> Watch sports ball. >> This the the World Cup final and
- 23:41also the Formula 1 is today, too. So. >> I don't get soccer.
- 23:46>> No, but Well, I I normally, but going to a place where other people are watching
- 23:49it and watching it with people is fun. So. >> Especially cuz you're all hosting it at
- 23:53the moment, aren't you? Like you personally. >> Yes, it's going to happen in my
- 23:57backyard. Yeah. >> Yeah, yeah. So, you probably should make an appearance.
- 24:00>> Yeah, I mean, there's a large crowd of people outside right now. So. Probably should.
- 24:06>> Go Argentina. I don't know who's in it. >> they're in it. Yeah. I think so. It's
- 24:12Argentina and who else? Uh >> Someone. >> Cup final. I want to say Egypt, but I
- 24:16think that was the match the other week I watched. World Cup final. Spain. >> Spain.
- 24:22>> I knew that. Yeah. So. >> I do know there are some
- 24:28things that they're claiming that Argentina is cheating somehow, which I don't understand.
- 24:32>> Oh, really? Or by having Messi on their team? >> Well, just
- 24:37some calls going their way and they're starting to say it's a whole conspiracy.
- 24:41>> it's fixed? >> Yeah, which with it being FIFA >> [laughter]
- 24:46>> one of the most corrupt organizations. >> Interesting.
- 24:50>> Yeah, if you look into it, FIFA's very corrupt. >> Really? >> Oh, yeah.
- 24:55Well, they're a non-profit organization that makes billions of dollars. >> Okay.
- 25:00>> And there's been from what I believe, so take it with a grain of salt cuz maybe
- 25:04something they don't [laughter] But I believe there's been
- 25:07periods in the past where people will bribe some of the selectors about who
- 25:10will get the World Cup. So, they'll be hey, if we slip you a few million
- 25:14dollars, will you vote for us type of thing and >> But they have to play the game.
- 25:21>> Oh, no, no, I mean with just a hosting side of it. >> Oh, oh, I see. >> So,
- 25:26we even with that even in like they're they're a non-profit organization that
- 25:30is one of the richest organizations in the world at the same time.
- 25:34>> Well, I mean, one of the most embarrassing things that I'm aware of
- 25:39this World Cup is that [ __ ] Trump with the red card thing. You know about that?
- 25:43>> Yeah. Oh, it's sort of good >> American player got a red card and then
- 25:46Trump called president of FIFA and said, "Oh, can we can we just not do that?"
- 25:51And then America got their ass kicked anyway, but
- 25:53>> Yeah. I'm as as quite a good thing that they did lose because if they hadn't
- 25:58lost, there always would have been this asterisks of >> Ah, so embarrassing.
- 26:02>> But that's the first time a red card has ever been overturned since like the '60s
- 26:07or something. >> It shouldn't have been. That's just a that's ridiculous.
- 26:10>> But it's just always been part of the game. Calls go against you and you just
- 26:14live with it and move on. >> Yeah. >> And then you look at it where FIFA were
- 26:19the ones that gave Trump the World Peace Award as well. So, he had the phone
- 26:24number to call. >> It's just embarrassing. Don't do that.
- 26:30>> Oh, [ __ ] hell. >> But I I do like the fact
- 26:33>> It makes us Well, I'm I'll just claim to be Australian, but it just makes
- 26:36[laughter] us seem like [ __ ] losers. Like, don't do that.
- 26:40>> But that's the thing I do love about it because they lost
- 26:44after Trump did the thing and then the I forget who the opposing team was. They
- 26:48did Trump's dance to the YMCA. >> Yes. I think Was that Argentina? Somebody. I forget.
- 26:53>> Yeah. >> Anyway.
- 26:59Uh so that's what I'm doing later. So I won't be able to uh
- 27:02to watch Toxic Avenger. But I will watch it when I can.
- 27:05>> Yeah, you can watch it whenever you want now. >> Um got some other movie news. Do you
- 27:11like Sydney Sweeney? >> Um I don't know.
- 27:17>> People like her a lot. >> Yes, and I think they like her because
- 27:21of her breasts mainly. Is that the big thing? >> say there's two big reasons people like
- 27:26Sydney Sweeney and >> [clears throat] >> uh yeah, that's them.
- 27:29Uh that's my understanding anyway. I've not seen I haven't seen her in anything.
- 27:34And I don't mean I don't I don't mean I've seen her naked. I mean I've not
- 27:37watched her in any movie. Although I do I think she appears naked in things. Uh
- 27:41which is I think another reason people like her. I don't know. I might be wrong
- 27:44about that. Anyway, the news this week which I'm assuming is exciting people is
- 27:48that Sydney Sweeney will star in a new Sleepy Hollow
- 27:52adaptation. And from what I read in this article, it is an erotic adaptation.
- 27:59>> So this would be the first time you see her in a movie.
- 28:03>> It might be because I'm a big fan. >> Fan Yeah, I'm not saying get only erotic
- 28:08part, the Sleepy Hollow part. >> Yeah, yeah. I don't know
- 28:13that I'm going to like it the same as I like Tim Burton's. I don't know who's
- 28:17directing this. Uh Lindsay Anderson Beer Oh, it's like a
- 28:22based on a novel. >> Okay. >> an adaptation. And the author will write, direct, and
- 28:29produce >> Ooh, that sometimes doesn't go as well. >> Mhm.
- 28:35Oh, she also directed Pet Sematary Bloodlines. Which is a
- 28:41Pet Sematary movie that Did I watch this?
- 28:48I think I might have watched this. I don't really remember.
- 28:53>> It's 2023. >> Maybe. >> I have not seen this.
- 29:00>> No, I've not watched this. This has got that guy from
- 29:02>> it's a prequel to the 2019's Pet Sematary. >> How can there be a prequel?
- 29:07>> Oh, it's about the guy next door. Okay. >> Yeah. All right.
- 29:11Uh I mean, the reviews don't look that great, but >> Paramount company's in it. >> Is he?
- 29:15>> Yeah. >> Huh. Okay, I mean, I should watch this movie just to see. >> Yeah.
- 29:20>> I do love Pet Sematary. Anyway. >> just on this link that you've given me,
- 29:24it's also got another thing that Sydney Sweeney and Michael Bay to team up for
- 29:28Outrun adaptation. >> That I'll watch. That I'll watch. As
- 29:31long as there's a Ferrari Testarossa in it. >> It has to be.
- 29:35>> Yeah. There's three reasons to watch it now. >> [laughter]
- 29:39>> Two of them will be riding in the Testarossa, presumably.
- 29:43>> If there's not a Testarossa, I would be so upset cuz that is Outrun.
- 29:47>> It's got to be. Although, he did do what did he change Bumblebee into a Camaro,
- 29:53so who knows what >> And sort of combined Bumblebee with Hot Rod as a character.
- 29:58>> Oh, yeah, that's true. Yeah, so we'll see. Uh anyway, yeah. Sydney Sweeney
- 30:04>> Not Sydney Sweeney. >> Sydney Sweeney. >> Sydney Sweeney. Sleepy Hollow.
- 30:09>> [laughter] >> You won't even try to say her name. All right.
- 30:15It's like ketamine. >> I'm still might be a little bit out of it. >> That's fine.
- 30:21>> Takes a few days. But, okay. So, >> Yeah. >> they've done So, they're going to make
- 30:28this. But, yeah, I'm a bit nervous about the writer being the one that does it
- 30:31cuz I've The one movie that comes to mind with like someone who wrote, directed, produced
- 30:35[snorts] is Christopher Roberts with Wing Commander.
- 30:39>> Okay. So, you could going to Christopher Nolan cuz he does that, too.
- 30:43Yeah, Chris Roberts, yeah, sure. >> Even though I love that movie, that movie's not good.
- 30:49>> Sure. But I mean, there's a lot of examples where the writer
- 30:52directs the movie. Or the good is the writer-director. You know, Quentin Tarantino. Um
- 30:57>> But like, an author >> author of a book. Yeah, that's fair. And
- 31:00Steven King directed? No, he's just been in a bunch of them. >> Yeah.
- 31:04>> You might be right. >> We'll wait and see. >> Yeah. Uh
- 31:11I don't know whether this will be good or not. Um >> Yeah.
- 31:15>> I just saw the headline, and I was like, "Oh, people are going to like that." I assume.
- 31:19>> Yeah, she's very popular. I Yeah, I'm going to try and see if she's like anything good.
- 31:25>> I don't know. Yeah, exactly. Hang on, what has Sydney Sweeney been in?
- 31:29>> Uh Euphoria, The Handmaid's, Anyone But You, The Voyeurs, Christy, The White
- 31:34Lotus, Tale. I think that's where she made her name. From. I think she made her name from.
- 31:40>> From. I think she may have got her start in The Handmaid's Handmaid's Tale.
- 31:45>> I've seen Sharp Objects. Who was she in that? Alice.
- 31:49I've seen that movie. Don't remember her being in that. But I mean I believe in her.
- 31:54>> sorry, I'm wrong. She's been around forever. >> Like acting in stuff? >> Yeah.
- 31:59>> Yeah. >> But nothing that I can >> Mm. I mean, I've seen seen some of
- 32:06these. I just don't remember her being in it. But that's fine. Okay. All right.
- 32:10Maybe that's good. Maybe she's a good actress. >> Yeah. >> Mm.
- 32:15>> Well, she's just You haven't seen her be the star yet. >> Maybe.
- 32:20I've not watched Euphoria. I know that that's a thing she was in, uh
- 32:26and was famous for. Anyway. >> Yeah, I don't know what that is, either.
- 32:32>> Uh in other weird movie news >> Mm. >> Do Do like GI Joe?
- 32:38>> Not really. >> [laughter] >> We had GI Joe, not the way they had GI
- 32:43Joe in America. I think GI Joe is a very American. >> Well, we did have it, but >> yeah.
- 32:48>> I don't think we ever got the cartoon. >> Uh I don't think so, either. I had I I had
- 32:54>> I used to get the Transformers comics. Um my nan used to send them to me from England.
- 32:58And uh in the back of them, they often had the little short GI Joe comics as well, cuz
- 33:03I guess it's all Hasbro. Um >> Yeah. >> So, I was familiar with GI Joe. And we
- 33:08had the action figures and stuff. >> the action figures, but yeah, I don't
- 33:10think we ever had the cartoons or anything. >> No, I remember the movie, actually, GI
- 33:14Joe movie. We had that. Um but yeah, not in the same way it was popular in America.
- 33:20>> in the Stone Age for Australia, where we didn't quite get everything. And even if
- 33:24we did get some things, we wouldn't get an entire season. It'd be bits and pieces.
- 33:29>> Yeah, just dribs and drabs, and yeah, exactly. It's hard to keep up. >> Yeah. >> Um
- 33:33Well, the GI Joe movies were a thing. They were pretty awful, from memory.
- 33:39I've seen two of them, and I've forgotten them. They were very forgettable.
- 33:43>> one we saw in America, where there's this whole conspiracy about they're
- 33:47going to drop these things from orbit, which are going to cause these big explosions.
- 33:50>> Big rods, yeah. >> So, they blow up the satellites, which will then fall to Earth.
- 33:57>> Yeah. Don't Don't worry about it. Yeah, no, I remember that.
- 34:03Uh vaguely. Was that the Rock and Bruce Willis in it? You know, Bruce Willis was
- 34:07in one of them. Anyway. >> Uh yeah, I don't I I That's the only part I remember, that
- 34:13stupid plot point. And that then I Everything else has left my mind.
- 34:17>> Well, the news here, which is interesting, do you Do you know Danny McBride is?
- 34:20>> I do like No, I don't think >> He's been in them. >> I do like East Bound and Down.
- 34:24That was actually >> He's directing the new GI Joe movie. >> He's directing? >> Yeah.
- 34:28>> Okay. >> Uh and he's written and he's directing it. And I was like, what the [ __ ] But
- 34:34then I found out that I guess he wrote uh The Righteous Gemstones. Did he write
- 34:40The Righteous Gemstones? Or is he in The Righteous Gemstones?
- 34:42Is not a comedy, right? The Righteous Gemstones. I've not seen it.
- 34:47Righteous Gemstones. Oh, no, it is a comedy drama. Oh, I'm thinking of something else.
- 34:53He did It is a comedy. Okay, so he's only done comedies. What the [ __ ]
- 34:56Except for Alien Covenant he was in. Yeah, he was in Alien for 5 minutes.
- 35:00>> And he was the comic relief for that. >> Exactly. So, I don't know, man. It's weird. Uh
- 35:05>> Although, he probably he hasn't been acting in quite some time.
- 35:10>> I mean, I haven't paid attention. But, uh >> Like, apart from The Righteous
- 35:15Gemstones, it's been sort of >> Mhm. A long time since he's been in anything.
- 35:22So, maybe he's made the leap. >> And they tied these into Transformers,
- 35:25though. Hang on a minute. A tease at the end of the most recent Transformers
- 35:28movie, Rise of the Beasts, seemed promising. And now it seems McBride's
- 35:31film will be the next one. So, they're like tying them into Transformers. [ __ ] it out.
- 35:38Uh That That was interesting. I stopped watching the Transformers movies, too.
- 35:44I quite liked them. Like, as a guilty pleasure. >> Yeah, but then it's I I actually like
- 35:50the um Oh, what's his name? Mark Wahl- Wahlberg once.
- 35:56>> Oh, sure. Yeah. Oh, yeah. >> know why. >> Yeah, the one with with Galvatron with
- 36:01all nanites. >> Yeah. >> And uh I think that might be the last one I
- 36:04watched. I didn't watch >> Yeah, I haven't seen the dinosaurs or
- 36:07anything. Like, I haven't seen Rise of the Beasts or anything. >> No, I haven't.
- 36:12No, because they're just like >> of the most recent >> kind of
- 36:16So, throwaway movies. I don't have time for throwaway movies anymore.
- 36:19>> Yeah. But, this is sort of a very weird sentence. Like, a tease at the end of
- 36:22the most recent Transformers seemed promising. Though, but now McBride's making a movie
- 36:27and it's going to be [ __ ] it seems like the way that Cent and Treat
- 36:30>> Yeah, and it but it also like I said it makes it seem like this GI Joe movie is
- 36:35the next Transformers movie. Like yeah, so I mean maybe that's possible. I mean
- 36:42I guess they were in the comics together. Whatever. >> Yeah. >> I just think he's an odd
- 36:47choice and I don't know maybe he's fine. >> I didn't he actually you know what I've
- 36:53just remembered didn't he have something to do with the new Halloween?
- 36:56>> Danny McBride Halloween Yeah.
- 37:03>> It might be that he's like on camera he's different to behind the camera maybe.
- 37:08>> No see he didn't though. Wasn't surprised his Halloween trilogy.
- 37:13But the story was by John Carpenter and Debra Hill. Did he write the new Halloween
- 37:16>> Oh he's a writer screen story so he wrote the leave a Halloween ends
- 37:21Halloween he wrote he's yeah he writes a lot of >> horror movies. >> Yeah.
- 37:25>> And stuff. Yeah, [snorts] so maybe I mean not that somebody can't be funny
- 37:29and do serious stuff too. I don't know I just thought the new but now I'm like okay maybe.
- 37:34>> As I've mentioned before that's a very American thing to the second you're in
- 37:38that's what you are forever. >> Yeah, sure. Yeah. >> Like you can be funny or you can be
- 37:44serious it's hard and it's hard to make that crossover. >> Mhm.
- 37:48>> And there's been a few actors who have done it like Michael Keaton and Tom
- 37:52Hanks who have crossed over from that. >> Yes. >> Comedy especially Michael Keaton.
- 37:57>> Yeah, well I I'd say especially Tom Hanks. It's hard to I don't remember
- 38:00that Tom Hanks was just a goofy comedy actor in the beginning.
- 38:03>> Yeah, but that's who he was who he was. >> Yeah.
- 38:07>> I don't like remember Michael Keaton he went from being a stand-up comedian to Batman.
- 38:12>> Yeah, but I I knew him as Batman so I never got to experience you know the change so
- 38:19yeah. >> Remember he got death threats for that like and this in the day where you had
- 38:24to write them. >> Yeah. Yeah. The after they announced it he
- 38:28said that he was like, "Oh [ __ ] what have I done? Literally want to murder me."
- 38:32>> It's pretty now people want him back as Batman cuz he was amazing. >> Um
- 38:38So anyway, I think this is just GI Joe so who gives a [ __ ] but
- 38:42yeah, Danny McBride. There you go. >> Yep. >> Interesting. Interesting.
- 38:47>> Yes. We'll wait and see. >> Yeah. Um we should do some follow up real
- 38:52quick. We do some other movie news and stuff like that but we should make sure
- 38:54we do the follow up. We mentioned last week
- 38:58uh the Xbox layoffs and stuff and in particular id Software being
- 39:04effectively >> Well, we basically thought that it was like one developer left.
- 39:10>> Apparently that's not the case. Yeah. Uh the creative director has said that
- 39:15the claims basically that it's it it's bad but it's not as bad as people have
- 39:21said and here we go. There've been reports that we've been nerfed into the ground and
- 39:25gutted and we have 50 people and that's just not true. We're the size we were
- 39:29when we made Doom 2016 and id Tech is very much alive and well. So
- 39:36>> But also what is not good news that they fired a bunch of people but it sounds
- 39:40like it's not doom and gloom but also what are they working on at the moment?
- 39:44>> Uh they are well Didn't they say that they've basically
- 39:49going to be focused on Doom? >> Yeah, cuz they just released the last
- 39:54Doom DLC which is a sort of stand alone thing I think as well. >> Ages.
- 39:59>> Dark Ages. Yeah, the DLC that just came out >> for that game. Yeah. >> Yep.
- 40:04And I don't think they've announced anything else. So this is probably at
- 40:07the same time that they're sort of resetting, ramping up for the next game anyway.
- 40:12>> Yeah. So yeah, cuz I I What else does Id make, specifically? I think just
- 40:19>> Um >> I can't remember. But Doom would be the one that they would cuz they there was
- 40:25like a bunch of core franchises. And cuz the other news is that um Bethesda
- 40:30uh their number one priority right now is Elder Scrolls 6. >> Yeah, actually told
- 40:34>> [clears throat] >> I actually think they will sit down and
- 40:36they sit Todd How- Todd How- Todd Howard down and went, "Get your thumb out of
- 40:41your ass. We've given you a lot of money. We need something." Like it's been far
- 40:46too long with nothing. >> Yeah. So we've got uh
- 40:53Elder Scrolls 6 is Bethesda's top priority. >> Mhm.
- 40:56>> Uh Fallout 5 is being done by Obsidian, right? >> Yep.
- 41:02>> Uh and also the news this week is that there will be remasters of Fallout 3 and
- 41:07New Vegas. >> And New Vegas soon. >> Which I'm looking forward to them cuz that
- 41:12they should be soonish, I would think. >> Yeah, I would imagine so. Um
- 41:18>> But it's nice to see they've finally started to even talk about Fallout 5,
- 41:22which they haven't >> Yeah. Well, I mean Obsidian doing it is good news. >> Yeah.
- 41:28>> New Vegas is my favorite of all of them and they did that one, so
- 41:32>> But no, I really do think they sat them down and went like, "We've been
- 41:34funneling you money." Which is probably part of the problem with why they've had
- 41:37to reset. They've been giving so much money to Bethesda to make a game >> [laughter]
- 41:43>> that's 10 years later and we've got nothing. >> Yeah. I know they announced it uh
- 41:49>> I think it was 2016. >> It was a [ __ ] long time ago. It was the E3 that I went to.
- 41:54The that's how long it's been. >> Yeah. [laughter] >> It was an E3.
- 41:57>> And that was just stuff. Hey, we've started working on it. It wasn't uh
- 42:02>> Yeah, it was just a little teaser that showed you like it was a CGI rendered
- 42:06thing. It wasn't even gameplay or anything like that.
- 42:07>> Yeah, it was just, "Hey, we're working on it." And that was it. So
- 42:10>> the thing you hate where it's like they've announced [clears throat] a game
- 42:12and they haven't made any of it yet. >> Yeah. And it's far too early. >> Yeah.
- 42:18>> So, yeah, I think Bethesda got into a bit of trouble about
- 42:22I think Bethesda might be part of the reason for a lot of this.
- 42:25>> Yeah, right. You blame Todd. >> Just just Yeah, I'll blame Todd. Just
- 42:29with the amount of money that they've probably funneled into Elder Scrolls >> Mhm.
- 42:34>> and we've got nothing. >> I mean, it's hard to top Skyrim and
- 42:39especially I think I I'm sure they thought Starfield was going to be more
- 42:46widely loved than it was. Like it was successful, I'm sure, but it was just
- 42:51like it was fun. >> The problem with the Starfield is they
- 42:54wanted the audience to make their stories. >> Mhm.
- 42:57>> They didn't really put the effort into making the stories. They thought the
- 43:02They're waiting for the gamers to go out and mod and create all this stuff.
- 43:06They're all banking on that, not like they did with
- 43:11Oblivion, Morrowind where Skyrim where every you get caught up in the world and
- 43:17you wander off and you do something. There's none of that in Starfield.
- 43:21>> Yeah. Yeah, no, it's very feels very empty. >> Like the only time you really got
- 43:25missions was or well, the only time you got missions is you're on one of the core planets.
- 43:30>> Yeah, you go looking for them. >> And then you get that there and then you
- 43:33might go somewhere else and that was you land on a planet which well, it's
- 43:37procedurally generated, it's different every time, but there's >> Yeah, but there's no
- 43:40>> No, but >> Yeah, it's procedurally generated resources to collect and then that's it.
- 43:44>> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> The time between Oblivion Oblivion was
- 43:49last one Skyrim. So, it's been How many years between Oblivion and
- 43:54Skyrim? Just tell me a number. Don't go into a story.
- 43:58>> Just ask AI and it'll tell you a number that may or may not be correct. >> [laughter]
- 44:05>> Okay, here we go.
- 44:07Do you Don't I don't care about the law. I just want to know the difference
- 44:13between the games. >> That's a quote I'm going to keep with
- 44:16yours. I don't care about the law. >> Okay. So, So, we went from I'll start from
- 44:23Morrowind cuz that's when they I think became popular. Daggerfall and
- 44:26everything were before that. Morrowind came out in 2002. >> Mhm.
- 44:32>> Elder Scrolls Oblivion came out in 2006. >> Okay.
- 44:36>> Then we had 2011. So, we're going from 4 years to 5 years. >> Uh-huh.
- 44:43>> To it's now been 15 years. >> It's 15 years since Skyrim came out.
- 44:49>> 15 years since Skyrim originally came out. >> makes sense cuz I Yeah, I played it.
- 44:54[ __ ] Yeah. Okay. >> So, that's getting a bit ridiculous with
- 44:58the time [laughter] between games. >> Yeah, it's quite long.
- 45:01>> Like it went up by a year between Morrowind and Oblivion. >> Mhm.
- 45:07>> And now we're at 15 years with nothing to show for
- 45:10>> And and and what state is it in right now? Like surely it's got to be Surely
- 45:14you could show something at this point, right? >> Anything. Like >> What do you got? Mhm.
- 45:21>> I think they're trying to make it too big. >> I'm sure that they are. I'm just Yeah.
- 45:27Yeah, that's really interesting. I wonder what state it's in right now.
- 45:30Cuz he says he say like um Here we go. Update on Elder Scrolls 6.
- 45:36Uh Where's the [ __ ] quote?
- 45:42>> Where is it? >> Okay, I can tell you having visited Bethesda and sat with Todd and seen
- 45:47Elder Scrolls playing, it looks amazing and it's coming along well.
- 45:51Um and we'll make sure to announce it and reveal really reveal it at the right
- 45:55time. Yeah, okay, but when? >> When? [laughter] That's it. 15 years is a very long time.
- 46:02>> Yeah. >> What? I hope my computer just hasn't frozen.
- 46:07>> I was going to say you've frozen. Yeah, I can still hear you, so I'm just
- 46:11going to assume it's thinking about something and we're all good.
- 46:14>> All right. Yeah, you're just kind of staring off into the distance.
- 46:17>> Yeah, I can see you reading as well. I'm scared. What are you doing, computer?
- 46:24>> Very strange. >> Hasn't done this long before. >> [laughter]
- 46:29>> Hold on, something Everything else seems to be working. >> Oh, you're back.
- 46:35>> I'm back. Okay, good. Whew, just had a moment. >> All right. >> That was a bit scary.
- 46:41>> Uh also briefly, uh the BBC has released a statement about uh the Doctor Who
- 46:46cancellation. >> Yes. >> Um which it's just basically they've
- 46:51fired everybody and said someone else make this. Who? And then now people are
- 46:56It's been put out to competitive tender. >> Yes. And it wasn't actually
- 47:01BBC as actually actual BBC that were actually making it recently. >> All right.
- 47:07>> It was a subsidiary of BBC. >> Oh. >> So it wasn't the original BBC, and I
- 47:12think I've seen BBC come out and said, "We're not going to let this die. Like
- 47:16we've just done this as a thing, but Doctor Who will still be here." Like
- 47:20>> Yeah. The statement says, "The decision was not taken lightly and we know it
- 47:23will be disappointing for fans, which is in to push forward to invest in the
- 47:26long-term future of the show, which ensures that when the time does land
- 47:29once more, it does so in all its glory." Um
- 47:33>> But I do think it's time for a break for Doctor Who. I think it's been needed a
- 47:38break for a while. >> Yeah, it could be. I mean, it just seems like
- 47:42over time, like it was good, it was good, it was good, and then it's just
- 47:45nobody's happy with it, it seems like. >> Yeah, it's just Nobody but But anytime
- 47:50they announce a new doctor, the internet loses their [ __ ]
- 47:53>> Yeah, it's just all [ __ ] all over the place at the moment. Although this has
- 47:56got very good reviews. Oh, no, but this is Is this reviews for the series as a
- 48:01whole or for this season? I don't know.
- 48:06I just My My sense of it was that people were just complaining about it constantly.
- 48:11>> Yeah. >> Uh and which doesn't mean anything cuz that's what the internet does and, you
- 48:16know, >> complains and then the amount of people I'd like to take screenshots when they
- 48:20complain about games before they've even come out and say I'm boycotting this and I'd like
- 48:25go show them this screenshot like a day after the game comes out. >> Mhm. Yeah.
- 48:30>> Cuz you know that they're still going to People will complain but will still go
- 48:34and watch it, still go and play it like they always do.
- 48:38>> Yeah. Well, I haven't watched Doctor Who in a long time. >> Oh, neither have I.
- 48:42>> I'm not not that concerned. Um honestly, a re- a reboot of it might get me to
- 48:47watch it again because I feel so lost when I watch that stuff like that now
- 48:51because I can't remember all the >> years and start fresh. >> Mhm.
- 48:55>> Cuz remember there was a before it came back in what, 2004 or something, it'd
- 48:59been a long time since we had Doctor Who. >> Yeah, yeah. >> And it came back very strong.
- 49:03>> Yeah. >> And then it hasn't stopped since then. So, maybe give it another
- 49:08stop for 5, 6 years, give it a reboot, let everyone cleanse their palate and come back mhm
- 49:13where everyone loses their mind saying how great it is again.
- 49:15>> But this does mean we're not No one We're not going to find out why >> Billy Piper
- 49:19>> regenerated into a rose Tyler. >> Yeah, into Billy Piper. [laughter]
- 49:22>> We're not going No one's going to know. That's just I think it's very funny.
- 49:25It's like a this absurd thing that they did and then they were like, "Don't
- 49:28worry, we're going to explain it." And then the BBC was like, "No, you're not.
- 49:30[ __ ] you." >> [laughter] >> You're all fired. >> Jesus. That's great.
- 49:36>> We'll wait and see. >> I'm sure they'll explain it in interviews or something.
- 49:42>> Or a comic book or a screen rant that'll talk about
- 49:45>> then do the Yeah, finally we get to see the Christmas special in comic book form.
- 49:50>> Yep. Thanks I screen ranted. >> When we were leaving Evil Dead, uh
- 49:55we were talking Jen and I were talking and she said, "Oh yeah, how does the um the
- 50:01how does it tie into the last one?" I'm trying to avoid spoiling anything. >> Ah.
- 50:04>> It ties into the last >> It ties into the last one in the after credits.
- 50:08>> Yeah, and we were both like, "How did How?" Because I mean
- 50:14the old the previous one we could talk about spoilers for that cuz it's been
- 50:17out for [ __ ] ages. Is um >> I >> I thought all the deadites merged into
- 50:21that giant [ __ ] monster thing at the end. But maybe I'm misremembering. It's
- 50:26possible. Yeah. Uh it's been ages since I watched it.
- 50:29Uh so I was confused how it tied in and that we were talking about and I said,
- 50:32"Oh, you know what? Don't worry. There'll be a Screen Rant article that
- 50:35explains all of that." >> [laughter]
- 50:40>> There always [ __ ] is. >> For Screen Rant, they talk an awfully lot about comics.
- 50:46>> [laughter] >> Have you read the last arc, Luke?
- 50:51>> No, I have not. I'm waiting for the day we'll get the sequel to that movie. And
- 50:55it will be a sequel. >> Yeah. Um what have we got? Okay, so just
- 51:01briefly, the live-action Moana remake uh is bombing hard.
- 51:08>> Is that out? >> Yes, mostly negative reviews, sitting at
- 51:1233% on Rotten Tomatoes, and it has Where did they There was a budget listed for
- 51:18this. Oh, it's projected to lose $100 million. >> Ouch.
- 51:24>> Yes, it grossed 43 million and it uh domestic and 52 million
- 51:30internationally for a global debut of 95 million and it cost at least 250 million.
- 51:37>> Maybe they'll finally learn that they can just stop making live-action of everything.
- 51:43>> Yeah, I mean Moana is very good. I just don't need It's like
- 51:48>> Well, I think it was sort of a niche sort of thing when they were going back
- 51:51and re- redoing all of their classics like >> Yeah.
- 51:56>> uh Beauty and the Beast and all that like let's bring >> just came out.
- 52:00>> Yeah, it's brand new. You've got the same actors. You've got the Rock doing
- 52:04his same character. >> Yes. in a wig >> and a muscle suit
- 52:10>> [laughter] >> Yeah. >> Is it a muscle suit? >> I don't know. He's not that big anymore,
- 52:14is he? >> Exactly. >> I don't know, man. >> what he'll look like with his shirt off now.
- 52:21>> Let's just take a moment to imagine that. >> Mhm. >> Um
- 52:27Yeah, I'm sure he's got people on hand to make sure he sizes down in a way that
- 52:32makes him look less like a weird turtle. >> Yeah. [laughter] >> Uh
- 52:38Uh yeah, anyway, so I don't care about this. I was really disappointed in the
- 52:41Lilo and Stitch live action remake, but they're making a sequel to that.
- 52:46>> Okay, so it must have done well. >> Yeah, apparently it did do really well.
- 52:49It did better than any of the others apparently, which >> Okay.
- 52:53>> I was so confused by it. Cuz the the animated one is really good. >> Mhm. >> And then
- 52:59>> I haven't seen any of the live action. >> I thought maybe it's just that I like
- 53:03the animated one so much that they then they changed things that I was like, I
- 53:06don't understand why they changed that. And then maybe [clears throat]
- 53:09I don't know. Maybe if you didn't think like that, maybe it was better,
- 53:13but I don't know. Didn't seem very good to me. >> Yeah, but I don't I think the reason why
- 53:17Moana may not have done good is the audience that probably would have loved this
- 53:23are probably still at age that they love the the movie, the original movie, and
- 53:27they haven't grown out of that. They're still watching Moana on repeat type of thing.
- 53:31>> Yeah. And like Like what is the point of a live action version of a movie? Like
- 53:38>> Well, it's just the fact that someone decided they need to do a live action of
- 53:41all their cartoons. >> Uh >> don't understand why we need those.
- 53:46Like like you said, some of the classic ones, fine. It's been a long time.
- 53:49They've been refreshed. Like >> Yeah. >> you know, there's stuff in them that's
- 53:53different and you can change it and it's fine. But like yeah.
- 53:57We don't need all of them. All the recent ones, like I said, they're
- 53:59recent. They're already like modern, like with modern
- 54:03sensibilities and like like the earlier ones have old styles.
- 54:09>> Yeah. And they're probably they're not being watched anymore and
- 54:13some of the things are a bit ethically a bit weird.
- 54:17>> Moana doesn't need a refresh. Moana is fresh. Like [laughter]
- 54:21it's good. Like in 20 years, maybe. You know. >> Yeah. Yeah.
- 54:27>> Uh [ __ ] it, whatever. >> Well, they learned they lost a lot of money.
- 54:32>> Just stop it. >> Well, have they learned? >> Don't
- 54:36>> Still don't understand how they lost money on The Mandalorian. >> Um
- 54:41who was Oh, Spaceballs 2. Uh the preview thing was making fun of um
- 54:48Mandalorian Grogu. Said something about uh when television shows are releasing
- 54:54episodes strung together as theatrical movies and the world has lost like hope
- 55:01in franchises. >> Honestly, as I said, it was just three
- 55:05episodes put together. And if you had have just had this as a new season of
- 55:09Mandalorian, it would have been fine. But no, they made it a movie and somehow
- 55:14that movie cost more than it took to make three episodes. >> Yeah.
- 55:18No, I whatever. I'm not going to watch it. >> I'm going to watch Spaceballs though.
- 55:22>> I'm going to watch Spaceballs for sure. Um George Lucas this week is uh copping
- 55:29some flak because he said uh in an interview and I actually clicked on an ad. [ __ ]
- 55:34hate ads. Um he thinks
- 55:38that AI and arguing against AI is like arguing against the introduction of cars
- 55:45and vehicles. And he says, "It's very much like sitting here and saying, well, I believe
- 55:49the horse and buggy is really where it's at. These cars, they break down, they
- 55:53need gas, there's all kinds of problem with them, and pretty soon they'll be
- 55:55making them into tanks, and they'll be killing people. It's terrible. And
- 55:59there's nothing you can do about it." George Lucas says.
- 56:02He calls AI progress and the future. Uh
- 56:07and he's copped a lot of flak for it. Uh but he's probably right.
- 56:12>> No, he's probably right. >> [laughter] >> So. Like it's not going anywhere.
- 56:17>> I get people don't like it, but he's probably right. >> Yeah. Yeah.
- 56:21>> No, I I I get it. >> about AI like quite a bit, and we're not
- 56:25we understand it's there. We're not huge fans of it, but we do see there's
- 56:29benefits, but we're also >> I don't want to see the other side. I do
- 56:32specific things with it, and it's very useful for for for but for me in
- 56:38like it enables me to do things that I wouldn't have been able to do otherwise.
- 56:41Like I can very quickly, you know, do things that would have taken me a long time to
- 56:46do. And then if I can get things done that I wouldn't have been able to. >> Mhm.
- 56:51>> Cuz I'm busy. >> But yeah, it is it is sort of a very
- 56:54scary thing, and I still think it is going to destroy mankind.
- 56:57But it makes life easier at the >> Yeah, but in the meantime, it yeah, helps me um
- 57:03make little prototypes of things that I want to make, and yeah. >> Yeah.
- 57:09I do things completely different these days. >> Use it to make a [ __ ] web app, and
- 57:12don't And if you don't understand web apps. >> [laughter]
- 57:16>> No. Especially if you want to monetize it. >> Yeah. Just yeah.
- 57:22Look at how many times that goes sideways for people. Just make sure
- 57:25you're checking everything it does. That's my my rule is that if I use it to
- 57:31to work on something, I have to check everything. >> Mhm. >> Because I don't trust it.
- 57:37>> Uh Cuz it will do something weird and >> Yeah, and then you go, "Why'd you do
- 57:42that?" And it goes, "You're right. That was stupid. I don't know." And it's like, "Well,
- 57:46[ __ ] hell, man." Like, it's not to be trusted. >> No.
- 57:51No. It's they useful as cuz I use Copilot a lot. And the way I look at it
- 57:56is it's a copilot. It's there to assist me, not to do it for me.
- 58:01>> Right. No, you know what? I I Claude code I use and it is
- 58:06[ __ ] incredible at finding bugs. If you have a piece of software you're
- 58:10working on and you're like, "I wonder if there's any bugs." Just tell Claude code
- 58:15"Scan this code base. Let me know about any bugs." It will find [ __ ] you would
- 58:19never have found. And And oftentimes it's little things uh that you can just
- 58:25then go in and fix. Like, you don't even have to have it fix them. Just ask it to
- 58:29find bugs in your software, it will find stuff. >> Is that also because it's good at
- 58:33creating them, so it knows where to look to begin with? Like, I know last time I
- 58:37did this, I put a bug there, so I'll have a look there.
- 58:40>> But the thing is like as a human, right? You If you If I was to sit down with the
- 58:44all the code and just try and read through it and go, "Okay, does this do
- 58:47what it's supposed to do?" kind of thing. It's just It's just hard to like
- 58:50hold that in your head and to go through all that kind of stuff. Not for this
- 58:53thing. This thing just steps through everything and it goes, "Is this doing
- 58:56what it's supposed to do? Is this doing what it's supposed to do? What what
- 58:58happens if I do this?" And then And then like send this into the function or whatever.
- 59:02>> is yeah, you had an extra space somewhere that you've missed.
- 59:06>> Yeah, I listened to a podcast the other day where they said that there was a a
- 59:09bug that they'd not been able to reproduce and then it turned out it was
- 59:12just simply like they had a like a greater than instead of a greater than
- 59:15or equal to in in in a piece of code somewhere. And they've looked They said,
- 59:19"I've looked at this over the years hundreds of times trying
- 59:23to figure out what this bug is and my brain just didn't see it because it's
- 59:26just so hard to like hold all the the flow in your head. >> Yeah.
- 59:30>> And then Carl was just like, "Oh, you [ __ ] that up, dude." And it's like, "Oh, shit."
- 59:36Anyway, great for that. Uh I think for creative stuff
- 59:39there's a lot of questions about whether it's there's any value in that because I do agree
- 59:46half of being Well, most of the point of being creative is that you created it.
- 59:51And so, if you didn't create it uh it's What's What's the point of it, really?
- 59:55>> Well, that's what. There's actually a court case going through at the moment
- 59:58for I forget what it was called, tongue tongue sushi or something. >> [laughter]
- 1:00:03>> I don't know what that is. >> So, it's AI rot. So, it is this
- 1:00:09stick thing that has a baseball bat that someone's created
- 1:00:14that they've been putting on TikTok and stuff for a while.
- 1:00:17They put it in the Fortnite put it in cuz it's a new brain rot stream you
- 1:00:21think keep kids happy. And they had a lawsuit going over about it because the
- 1:00:25person who created it is from Indonesia, I think, and created it using AI. And
- 1:00:29they're going, "No, we own the rights to that." >> Mhm.
- 1:00:32>> And so, now it's going to court of Do they own the rights or do they not? And >> Mhm.
- 1:00:37>> So, I know most of the court cases have gone through so far up especially with
- 1:00:41the art has No, you don't own it. >> Yeah. >> it's getting to the point of, "Well,
- 1:00:47no, I put It wasn't I put in one line, created this, and I've done it. I went
- 1:00:52through and I created this and I did the personality and how it looks and put a
- 1:00:56lot of time and effort into it. So, now there's an argument for
- 1:01:02that was just a tool I used to create. So, it's getting scary, but it's also
- 1:01:08like who does own it cuz the tools mostly
- 1:01:11steal everything, steal learn from other artists, and yeah, from that.
- 1:01:17>> Cuz I I I We've talked about this before, but the thing I struggle with is
- 1:01:20it yes, they they they the the AI looks
- 1:01:23at art and absorbs it and then creates like its own
- 1:01:29mashup of the things it seen, but that's what people do. >> That's what people do.
- 1:01:33>> and but but I do agree like when a person does it, I think it's more valuable >> Yes.
- 1:01:39>> to me as a creative work. I think I don't I I think there's nothing
- 1:01:43particularly wrong with using AI to do that stuff, but I just don't think it's as
- 1:01:49impressive or valuable when an AI does it. >> Kind of thing.
- 1:01:52>> Like I'll use it for the thumbnails and stuff because I think like the
- 1:01:55alternative is that I do a bad Photoshop and it just won't be as funny. >> no thumbnail.
- 1:02:00>> Yeah, cuz the idea is mine and my execution of it is not going to be as
- 1:02:04funny. I think that the AI can make my idea look like more like what I want in a way
- 1:02:10that I can't. And I can't pay somebody to do it. I don't have money for that.
- 1:02:13>> Look, if [laughter] we could afford to pay someone, we would. Maybe one day.
- 1:02:18>> Maybe one day. Yeah. >> I can't at the moment. I need to pay for
- 1:02:21StreamYard again. That's already come up again. >> There's a summer sale on right now.
- 1:02:26>> Oh, good. >> got an email, so I'll send I'll forward you the email. >> Thank you.
- 1:02:29>> [laughter] >> Cuz I need to pay for that again. And
- 1:02:32believe me, when we're paying for this, it's hundreds of dollars, people.
- 1:02:36>> Yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah. I mean and again, we're not begging. If
- 1:02:41you like the show, go to patreon.com/multinutgasm. >> We're going to do it anyway.
- 1:02:46>> Yeah. I mean it's about that time. Uh >> Oh. >> If you do like the show and you want to
- 1:02:51support the show, we'll give you something in return. We'll give you the
- 1:02:53afterparty, which is where we're going right now. Uh five bucks a month, you
- 1:02:57can have that. Uh every week we talk for longer. >> Yes.
- 1:03:02And sometimes it might be 15 minutes, sometimes it might be longer than the main show.
- 1:03:06>> Yeah, we'll see. Uh we've got some Geek of the Week candidates this week, but I think
- 1:03:10everybody knows what's going to happen, but you'll I guess you'll have to listen
- 1:03:13to be sure. Sometimes Luke surprises me. >> Yeah, well, they only just missed out of
- 1:03:18being kick of the week last week. >> Yes. >> came out after we were recording.
