- 0:00Speaker 1: The Popcorn Moments, brought to you by Boer Remodeling. Tony
- 0:04Speaker 1: Katz ninety three WIBC, Good morning. I should really do
- 0:08Speaker 1: it with more fanfare, the popcorn moment.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go.
- 0:14Speaker 1: It's a story you need to hear to believe, and
- 0:17Speaker 1: then grab your popcorn because there is more. Okay, you
- 0:23Speaker 1: should you should sit down for this. You should hear this,
- 0:27Speaker 1: and then you should tell me what the heck this is.
- 0:33Speaker 1: We sent a question, hey, Diego Morales, he is the
- 0:40Speaker 1: Secretary of State, and we said we would like to
- 0:45Speaker 1: do an interview.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Now we should be clear. I am very very.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Focused about Diego Morales for well over a year.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Anytime we bring him up, I've been playing this.
- 1:00Speaker 1: The Secretary of State, Diego Morales hired his brother in law.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Comedian. In the dictionary, you'll find sure me no, the
- 1:09Speaker 2: definition of the word idiot, which you are. God, Karen,
- 1:12Speaker 2: you are so stupid. What are your qualifications?
- 1:15Speaker 1: Take his qualifications and then shove them somewhere. Who hires
- 1:20Speaker 1: their brother in law that is the most idiot they've
- 1:23Speaker 1: ever heard of. My line is, it's just absolutely nutty.
- 1:31Speaker 2: It's smacks of corruption.
- 1:34Speaker 1: It smacks of everything we wouldn't want the Republican Party doing,
- 1:39Speaker 1: and the idea that when asked about it who I
- 1:43Speaker 1: think it was Ed Delaney who was asking him about it,
- 1:47Speaker 1: Democrat from Indianapolis. The answer from Diego Morales was we
- 1:52Speaker 1: hire the best of the best of the best.
- 1:56Speaker 2: There's not an answer.
- 1:57Speaker 1: It was never an answer, and his has to know
- 2:01Speaker 1: that that's not an answer, and that's very embarrassing. I
- 2:03Speaker 1: feel the same way about Joe hogg seats staff as
- 2:05Speaker 1: I do about Diego Morales's staff.
- 2:07Speaker 2: At some moments, you realize this is not a good
- 2:11Speaker 2: place to be, don't you. Don't you? Well?
- 2:16Speaker 1: This then, of course became a subject of this trip
- 2:19Speaker 1: to India, this trip here and there?
- 2:21Speaker 2: And who's paying for these trips?
- 2:24Speaker 1: Are the taxpayers paying for the Secretary of State of
- 2:26Speaker 1: Indiana to go visit these countries? And is he having
- 2:30Speaker 1: official visits with them? I mean, who is he to
- 2:34Speaker 1: have official visits? Is this something that the Secretary of
- 2:36Speaker 1: State does or is he trying to make himself look
- 2:40Speaker 1: like more than he is?
- 2:42Speaker 2: And is this being paid for by the taxpayer?
- 2:45Speaker 1: That is such a legitimate question that to not answer
- 2:49Speaker 1: the question is laughable. To not answer the question for
- 2:55Speaker 1: taxpayers of who's paying for this trip is ridiculous, It
- 2:58Speaker 1: is embarrassing, is shameful. It's shameful for Diego Morales, the
- 3:03Speaker 1: Secretary of State. It's shameful for his staff that knows
- 3:07Speaker 1: that it is such a baseline, basic question, a basic
- 3:11Speaker 1: concept who paid for the trip? To not answer it,
- 3:17Speaker 1: while it certainly does not prove in a court of
- 3:19Speaker 1: law guilt, it does in the court of a public
- 3:22Speaker 1: opinion prove guilt absolutely. If you were to ask people,
- 3:26Speaker 1: they would think that Diego Morales is up to shady
- 3:29Speaker 1: stuff without proof.
- 3:31Speaker 2: By the way, because he never.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Answered the question, the question, which is so basic and
- 3:38Speaker 1: so simple for a Republican, or for a Democrat, conservative
- 3:42Speaker 1: or a liberal, a moderate or an independent, for any Hoosier,
- 3:46Speaker 1: this is a baseline question.
- 3:48Speaker 2: To not answer it. Wow.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Not only does it make you look in the court
- 3:53Speaker 1: of public opinion like a guilty person, like you did
- 3:56Speaker 1: something improper, it's a way of explaining to people how
- 4:01Speaker 1: much you hate them, how much you disregard them, how
- 4:05Speaker 1: above them you think you are. And that is very obvious,
- 4:08Speaker 1: I believe from the actions of Diego Morales and somehow
- 4:13Speaker 1: his staff stays. This brings us to something that took
- 4:22Speaker 1: place the other day in the reporter here with the
- 4:24Speaker 1: with the video. This happened Diego Morales speaking to the
- 4:30Speaker 1: Motor Vehicle Advisory Board.
- 4:32Speaker 3: You know, one of the things that we're going to
- 4:34Speaker 3: try to do right now is to share with you
- 4:37Speaker 3: the hard work that the Morales administration has been doing
- 4:40Speaker 3: since I took office, because the fake news will never
- 4:43Speaker 3: share that, the fake WIBC, the fake in the Star,
- 4:47Speaker 3: they will never So.
- 4:50Speaker 1: First, since when does the Secretary of State refer to
- 4:53Speaker 1: it as their administration, the Morales administration?
- 4:57Speaker 2: That's very odd.
- 4:59Speaker 1: And when he is on these nation these country visits,
- 5:03Speaker 1: did he represent himself as the Morales administration? Is there
- 5:08Speaker 1: an issue there? I don't know what he did. Heck,
- 5:11Speaker 1: we don't know who paid for the trip, but very odd. Again, egomaniacal. Again,
- 5:19Speaker 1: Look how more important I am than you? Look how
- 5:22Speaker 1: special I am. What Diego Morales is trying to do
- 5:25Speaker 1: is trying to trump himself. He's trying to be Trump.
- 5:28Speaker 1: And then when talking about IBC, he's trying to engage
- 5:32Speaker 1: in Trumps. And again the problem is it doesn't work
- 5:34Speaker 1: because Diego Morales is not Donald Trump and he never
- 5:36Speaker 1: will be. He doesn't come close. Fake news is when
- 5:42Speaker 1: they lie about you. It is not fake news when
- 5:46Speaker 1: they ask who paid for the trip. But Diego Morales
- 5:49Speaker 1: knows this and his team knows this, except his team
- 5:52Speaker 1: doesn't want to admit to it, which brings us to
- 5:54Speaker 1: Lindsay Eaton, the comms director for the Indiana Secretary of State,
- 6:00Speaker 1: whom we emailed.
- 6:04Speaker 2: And we said, hey.
- 6:06Speaker 1: We would like to interview Secretary of State Digga Morales
- 6:09Speaker 1: regarding his statement about WIBC, And we sent the link
- 6:15Speaker 1: that out of the video I just shared with you.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Please let me know how we can coordinate. It came
- 6:20Speaker 1: from producer Carl. The response was, Hi Carl, this is
- 6:25Speaker 1: from Lindsay Eaton, the comms director. Hi Carl, we respectfully
- 6:30Speaker 1: decline your interview request on this topic. Your station and
- 6:35Speaker 1: those who work there have previously chosen the platform unfounded
- 6:39Speaker 1: and frankly ridiculous allegations about Secretary Morales and actual or
- 6:43Speaker 1: imagined associates.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Now this has to do with tickets to a.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Basketball game, and Morales was there and the Lieutenant Governor
- 6:53Speaker 1: Michael Beck was with What was there and where did
- 6:58Speaker 1: those tickets come from and this guy in his history
- 7:00Speaker 1: and his issues. I haven't done that story. Rob and
- 7:05Speaker 1: and Casey have done that story. I have not done
- 7:07Speaker 1: that story. So because of that, they're declining an interview,
- 7:15Speaker 1: although they call the allegations unfounded and ridiculous, but they
- 7:20Speaker 1: don't state why.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Lindsay Eaton does not state Whine in the email.
- 7:24Speaker 1: She then responds continues with quote, with a redaction and
- 7:29Speaker 1: apology given after spreading false and inaccurate information on your
- 7:32Speaker 1: station about one of those associates. Given the manner of
- 7:35Speaker 1: that coverage, we will not participate in interviews with your outlet.
- 7:39Speaker 2: At this time.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Now I think she meant without a redaction and an apology. However,
- 7:45Speaker 1: she has not indicated what requires redaction or what requires apology.
- 7:51Speaker 1: We don't know what she is setting requires redaction and apology.
- 7:56Speaker 1: What I can tell you is that she is taught
- 8:00Speaker 1: talking about a show and not the station.
- 8:03Speaker 2: That seems obvious at this point. It's obvious she's.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Talking about Kendall in Casey, She's not talking about me,
- 8:09Speaker 1: and she's not talking about the WIBC newsroom.
- 8:12Speaker 2: She continues.
- 8:13Speaker 1: By common definition, fake news is the presentation of false,
- 8:17Speaker 1: uninformed incomplete or selective information as complete, objective news reporting
- 8:22Speaker 1: or journalism. In our opinion, time and again, time and
- 8:26Speaker 1: time again, your outlet's news reporting consists of unsubstantiated, secondhand
- 8:31Speaker 1: information unbolstered by reasonable due diligence, writes Lindsay Eton, Secretary
- 8:38Speaker 1: Communications Director for Secretary of State Morales. She continues, quote
- 8:42Speaker 1: listeners are likely to be misled by negligent, obtained, uninformed,
- 8:46Speaker 1: or even malinformed information and subjective opinion presented as complete
- 8:50Speaker 1: and factual news. We do not intend to enable or
- 8:53Speaker 1: collaborate in such practices. Now, a couple things here. First,
- 9:01Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure the second half of that email was
- 9:03Speaker 1: written by AI.
- 9:04Speaker 2: That's my take. Doesn't seem to be a way people talk.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Secondly, I would remind Lindsay Eaton, who once worked at
- 9:12Speaker 1: Fox fifty nine, that the news department of WIBC is
- 9:16Speaker 1: different than the commentary done in WIBC, and she is
- 9:19Speaker 1: engaging right now in a disparagement of the newsroom, which
- 9:24Speaker 1: I think that defamation is pretty awful. I don't know
- 9:27Speaker 1: if it reaches the point of actionable against the State
- 9:32Speaker 1: of Indiana, but I'm not a lawyer. The newsroom has
- 9:37Speaker 1: not engaged at all in.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Anything like this.
- 9:41Speaker 1: And I have said many times that what I do
- 9:44Speaker 1: here is indeed commentary, not journalism that is done by
- 9:48Speaker 1: the newsroom. It is a different function. But you know that, Lindsay,
- 9:55Speaker 1: you know it, and we all know it. You also
- 10:01Speaker 1: have not provided what is indeed false. You have not
- 10:05Speaker 1: shared that you have made an allegation with no backup none.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Can I ask what credibility you think you have in
- 10:15Speaker 1: this conversation, Lindsey, I gotta get to commercial here, But
- 10:21Speaker 1: allow me.
- 10:23Speaker 2: We asked a legitimate question.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Diego Morales engaged in what is clearly false, and me
- 10:31Speaker 1: asking the question is not the problem. Your response is.
- 10:36Speaker 1: And if the Secretary of State's office wants to start
- 10:37Speaker 1: a fight with me, they can, But look at yourselves,
- 10:43Speaker 1: what are you doing
