Transcript
- 0:03Speaker 1: It says a podcasts called twenty five West so Tucket
- 0:07Speaker 1: football and we all need.
- 0:09Speaker 2: A were so stupid? But what did you expact? It's
- 0:13Speaker 2: a podcast.
- 0:14Speaker 3: Called twenty five were so tweaty poosels.
- 0:18Speaker 2: I feel like you didn't know the words, you know,
- 0:20Speaker 2: I get suck with that football basketball? And then yeah,
- 0:24Speaker 2: I messed up too. Were supposed to say sports bast
- 0:26Speaker 2: at football?
- 0:26Speaker 1: Right? Uh, just some news and notes here because kind
- 0:31Speaker 1: of a big day in sports yesterday. I did watch
- 0:33Speaker 1: Caitlin Clark's entire first game, did you Yeah. A couple
- 0:37Speaker 1: things stood out to me. One the place was freaking pact.
- 0:41Speaker 1: The tickets were like fifty five bucks for the lowest
- 0:43Speaker 1: to get in. And that was the Suns, the Connecticut Sons.
- 0:47Speaker 1: What do I Connecticut of the Suns? Well, it's probably
- 0:50Speaker 1: sonny in Connecticut.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Not really.
- 0:51Speaker 1: It's wintery up there. It's sunny a lot of place
- 0:53Speaker 1: all year. No, but it's not any more sunny in
- 0:56Speaker 1: Connecticut than it is hot.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Places, right, And I feel like you can get away
- 0:59Speaker 2: with anyone can have the Suns. So that was just
- 1:02Speaker 2: the one of these life.
- 1:02Speaker 1: If you're on the Earth, if you're on Earth, just
- 1:04Speaker 1: call yourself, the Sun, like we can't come up with
- 1:06Speaker 1: a name, or the rain the clouds that would suck
- 1:10Speaker 1: the rain of the clouds. So the Connecticut Sun there
- 1:15Speaker 1: game won last year their home opener fifteen bucks a ticket.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Yesterday fifty five bucks a tay. Wow, that's awesome.
- 1:20Speaker 1: The crowd was definitely hype for Kaitlin Clark. I felt
- 1:23Speaker 1: like early because there were a lot of Iowa jerseys
- 1:25Speaker 1: in the stands. I feel like the crowd was confused
- 1:27Speaker 1: who to cheer, for sure, because it was a Connecticut
- 1:30Speaker 1: Sun game. But the place was packed because of Caitlin Clark.
- 1:36Speaker 1: So when she was out of the game and the
- 1:37Speaker 1: Sun would score, they would go crazy. When she was
- 1:39Speaker 1: in the game and she would score, they would go crazy.
- 1:41Speaker 2: It is a weird dynamic with the crowd.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Also, I've never in my whole life went I'm gonna
- 1:46Speaker 1: watch a WNBA game.
- 1:47Speaker 3: And I turned it on half an hour early.
- 1:49Speaker 1: It started at seven point thirty Central or maybe six
- 1:51Speaker 1: thirty central.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Yeah, it was early because by the time I got home,
- 1:54Speaker 2: which is around seven, it was already like second quarter
- 1:57Speaker 2: or did you watch any of it? I watched about
- 1:58Speaker 2: five minutes of it. Look at us yeah five minutes.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Look at us, we're basically feminists. That's cool that she's Indiana.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Dude's so close to Iowa. Well to us. Oh, I
- 2:07Speaker 2: thought you meant because for her.
- 2:09Speaker 1: I also felt like maybe she left college because she
- 2:11Speaker 1: knew because the Fever had the number one pick, she
- 2:14Speaker 1: could stay close to home.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Yeah. Yes, do people think that? Do athletes think like that?
- 2:20Speaker 1: I would think in the WNBA they do because it's
- 2:21Speaker 1: not like she's gonna make a ton of money right
- 2:24Speaker 1: contractually and based on what team she goes to, and
- 2:28Speaker 1: her fan base is right there in the Midwest. She's
- 2:30Speaker 1: an Iowa girl, So if you play in Indiana, it's perfect.
- 2:34Speaker 3: It's super close. Yeah, yeah, I would think.
- 2:35Speaker 2: So what's with the Iowa jerseys though, Like, at what
- 2:38Speaker 2: point were we be like all right, we got a transition.
- 2:40Speaker 1: People can't get their hands on Indiana Fever jerseys. They
- 2:42Speaker 1: sold out on Draft Day.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Wow, it's crazy.
- 2:44Speaker 1: So for this season, Iowa jerseys are still cool.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Okay, next season, though, we're gonna be done with Iowa jerseys.
- 2:51Speaker 2: I don't know their vintage. It's like we can't keep
- 2:53Speaker 2: wearing like Jordan North Carolina jerseys.
- 2:56Speaker 1: You know what I mean, nobody does nobody he played
- 2:58Speaker 1: for the Bulls longer, you know, just say so.
- 3:01Speaker 3: Watching the game, the crowd was confused.
- 3:03Speaker 1: I felt like the first quarter because she was like,
- 3:06Speaker 1: oh for three, she had no points. I felt like
- 3:09Speaker 1: she was just trying to get all of her teammates
- 3:13Speaker 1: the ball and involved very early, like so they'd like her.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Sure, I get that you're new on the team.
- 3:20Speaker 1: I feel like she's a very likable person anyway. However,
- 3:23Speaker 1: when the whole world says you're the next one up
- 3:25Speaker 1: and all these people are like, wait, we've been playing
- 3:27Speaker 1: for a while, like you probably want to go, I
- 3:29Speaker 1: want to show them that I'm not just all about me.
- 3:32Speaker 3: And I felt like that hurt her a little bit.
- 3:33Speaker 1: She had a few turnovers early, but she dropped a
- 3:35Speaker 1: couple of dimes, like behind the back stuff that they
- 3:37Speaker 1: just screwed up and dropped. She ended up with ten turnovers,
- 3:40Speaker 1: which is a lot, and I would say that five
- 3:43Speaker 1: of them were real.
- 3:46Speaker 3: But when she would get any.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Space drill, it's crazy to watch he drill shots.
- 3:49Speaker 1: But the girl they had on her defensively locked down
- 3:53Speaker 1: and like that girl had a purpose to shut down
- 3:56Speaker 1: Caitlyn Clark. It was weird too to watch her because
- 3:58Speaker 1: she wasn't moving around off ball a whole. And I
- 4:00Speaker 1: was like, why should not moving around off ball because
- 4:02Speaker 1: if you watch Steph, he doesn't stop, always moving, always moving.
- 4:07Speaker 1: But then I remember that I don't know what I'm talking.
- 4:09Speaker 3: About basketball, yes, in general, like I don't know more
- 4:13Speaker 3: than the coach, and I have to check myself sometimes.
- 4:16Speaker 3: But she wasn't moving off ball at all.
- 4:19Speaker 1: But then I thought, what if they have her staying
- 4:22Speaker 1: in a certain spot behind three point line just to
- 4:24Speaker 1: create spacing for the other players, Because if she's standing
- 4:28Speaker 1: wherever she is, the corner, if she's at the top
- 4:31Speaker 1: of the key, whatever, and she's not moving, somebody's got
- 4:34Speaker 1: to stay on her and close because she'll fire at
- 4:36Speaker 1: will from anywhere, and so that does create a bit
- 4:39Speaker 1: of spacing. But I had to have that moment where
- 4:41Speaker 1: I remind myself, I don't know what I'm talking about.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Because you were yelling what do you do?
- 4:44Speaker 3: I was like, whych she not moving?
- 4:45Speaker 2: And it is the first game of the season too,
- 4:47Speaker 2: I mean a lot of eyeballs, but it is the
- 4:48Speaker 2: first game of the season.
- 4:49Speaker 1: And there had to be a crazy amount of pressure
- 4:51Speaker 1: on her and every time she plays. There are people
- 4:55Speaker 1: that just bought tickets to watch her. Straight up, that's crazy.
- 4:57Speaker 1: And again she's younger than most of other people. But
- 4:59Speaker 1: she ended up with seven points in the first half.
- 5:02Speaker 1: They did they lose, yeah, but they weren't supposed to win.
- 5:05Speaker 2: They lost.
- 5:06Speaker 1: They got within like six or seven at one point.
- 5:08Speaker 1: But she had seven points in the first half. Not
- 5:10Speaker 1: the best showing. Second half, I think she had thirteen
- 5:13Speaker 1: points up twenty points.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Bad points.
- 5:16Speaker 1: First if she got any space coming off a ball
- 5:18Speaker 1: screen or I mean, dude, she either dropped it or
- 5:21Speaker 1: it was so close and you're like, oh god. But
- 5:25Speaker 1: it was fun to watch, and just because of Caitlin Clark.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Otherwise it kind of looked like a bad high school game.
- 5:32Speaker 1: I mean, it really did.
- 5:33Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know what to compare it to.
- 5:35Speaker 2: I've never really watched the WNBA game.
- 5:37Speaker 3: Don't compare it.
- 5:38Speaker 2: I didn't watch. I did watch a little bit of
- 5:41Speaker 2: Vegas when coach Hammond was is she's still coaching Vegas? Yeah,
- 5:45Speaker 2: I remember watching that one game there.
- 5:47Speaker 1: But maybe we had two teams that weren't super athletically
- 5:52Speaker 1: above the freight. I don't know, but maybe it was
- 5:55Speaker 1: just also Game one. Yeah, but yeah, it's a lot
- 5:59Speaker 1: of like don't compare to the NBA. And also I
- 6:02Speaker 1: was listening to Bill Simmons and he made a great point.
- 6:06Speaker 3: First of all, there are like two teams coming.
- 6:07Speaker 1: There's a Toronto WNBA team coming, which is cool, and
- 6:10Speaker 1: a Golden State NBA team and one of them, I
- 6:12Speaker 1: think the Golden State teams called the Valkyries.
- 6:14Speaker 2: What is a valkyrie?
- 6:15Speaker 3: Who knows?
- 6:16Speaker 2: I think there're a movie called Valkyrie.
- 6:18Speaker 3: The point that.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Simmons made or his guest and I don't remember because
- 6:21Speaker 1: I was asleep. I listened to that show when I'm asleep,
- 6:23Speaker 1: was they should have named the teams the same as
- 6:25Speaker 1: the NBA team and it's just the w NBA. Know,
- 6:29Speaker 1: it wouldn't be. We'd actually know the team, we know
- 6:31Speaker 1: what their mascot is, we know who I saw the Rockets.
- 6:34Speaker 3: There was already allegiance to the w NBA team as well.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Which Rockets team? Did you see? The girls are the guys?
- 6:39Speaker 3: I didn't say that.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Well, no, I'm saying that's what it would be like. No, dude,
- 6:43Speaker 2: the bull wouldn't. We're freaking so good last night? Wait,
- 6:46Speaker 2: which one the guys were the girls?
- 6:47Speaker 3: I thought you were.
- 6:48Speaker 2: I could have swore you asked that question, then you
- 6:50Speaker 2: answered it, and I was like, I didn't ask, But
- 6:52Speaker 2: don't you see how confused it would be?
- 6:54Speaker 1: No, because the college basketball there are the two Arkansas
- 6:57Speaker 1: razorback teams, which one that's never a question.
- 7:00Speaker 3: Every every college team has the same as, oh.
- 7:04Speaker 2: My gosh, the Celtics were so freaking amazing last night. Wait,
- 7:07Speaker 2: who are you talking. You wouldn't do that.
- 7:08Speaker 3: You'd call them like the w Celtics, the w NBA Celtics,
- 7:11Speaker 3: just the same thing you do.
- 7:12Speaker 1: In college because they don't make Celtics. Sure, some would
- 7:16Speaker 1: be that. Some would be.
- 7:17Speaker 4: Okay, any season's hardly overlap, Eddie, but not Eddie.
- 7:21Speaker 3: He'd be screaming.
- 7:22Speaker 2: We're talking about though it's right right now. It's overlapping
- 7:25Speaker 2: about one in the playoffs the thunder shut up.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Or it could be like even my version of this,
- 7:34Speaker 1: a slight spin off of it, like the Lightning Oka
- 7:36Speaker 1: Sindy lightning.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Okay, thunder and lightning, that's better.
- 7:39Speaker 3: The Golden State Warriors are the warrior.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Ats, Celtics and Leprekaanas something. There's something there. Celtics, okay, good?
- 7:53Speaker 3: Even the lady Celtics works because you just you'll sell
- 7:55Speaker 3: more gear. Yeah, so I agree with that point, Kevin,
- 7:58Speaker 3: you agree with this.
- 7:59Speaker 4: Yeah, that's cool. I think that sounds cool too.
- 8:03Speaker 3: I'm into it. I like it. I had a good
- 8:05Speaker 3: time watching the game.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Now every team, every WNBA team doesn't or city doesn't
- 8:09Speaker 2: have a No, it's not the same far viewer teams. Okay.
- 8:12Speaker 1: And also the WNA also loses a lot of money.
- 8:15Speaker 1: The NBA pays for the WNBA, and I talked about
- 8:18Speaker 1: it on The Big Show because people were upset that
- 8:20Speaker 1: Caitlin Clark's making like three hundred thousand dollars a year.
- 8:22Speaker 3: The WNBA loses money.
- 8:25Speaker 1: You don't pay somebody the same at a company that
- 8:29Speaker 1: there's a star in it and the company makes a
- 8:31Speaker 1: ton of money versus a company that loses a ton
- 8:34Speaker 1: of money. They don't have the money to pay And
- 8:36Speaker 1: they're now getting charter flights, which was kind of weird
- 8:38Speaker 1: that they weren't. But if the company's not making money,
- 8:40Speaker 1: let's take away the sports part of it. If the
- 8:42Speaker 1: company's not making money, they don't have money to spend
- 8:45Speaker 1: on things like charter flights.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Charter flights, so before they were just flying individually, like,
- 8:48Speaker 2: all right, see you guys in Vegas.
- 8:49Speaker 1: You'd say them on Southwest and b P seven man
- 8:52Speaker 1: spirit that's tough. So I like it because I care.
- 8:56Speaker 1: It makes me care about the WNBA.
- 8:57Speaker 2: It is cool.
- 8:58Speaker 1: And they were talking about the national televised games coming up,
- 9:04Speaker 1: and they were like, the national.
- 9:04Speaker 3: Televis games, let's go to the schedule.
- 9:06Speaker 1: And it was like Caitlin Clark the Indiana Fever played
- 9:09Speaker 1: this on ABC. Caylin Clark in the NA Fever, they
- 9:12Speaker 1: play this on ESPN. Over on the Ion channel New
- 9:16Speaker 1: York plays. I'm like, I don't know what Ion is.
- 9:18Speaker 1: That is not a nationally televised game. Ion usually has
- 9:21Speaker 1: like cold case files.
- 9:22Speaker 3: And they'd be like on Disney Plus Kaitlyn Clark in
- 9:23Speaker 3: the n.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Of Fever, that's messed up, man.
- 9:28Speaker 1: These players that are like subtweeting or taking shots at
- 9:32Speaker 1: Kaitlyn Clark out, it's so dumb because they're they're I know,
- 9:37Speaker 1: I get it, they're jealous.
- 9:39Speaker 2: They're jealous.
- 9:39Speaker 3: It's not them.
- 9:40Speaker 1: They may may be a better player, whatever the case is,
- 9:43Speaker 1: but they're cutting off their nose despite their face. It
- 9:46Speaker 1: would be like Eddie, you getting on this show or
- 9:48Speaker 1: the big show and just going off and being like
- 9:53Speaker 1: Amy is the worst person and she's not. But Amy
- 9:56Speaker 1: like spits on orphans, Amy steals money from old people.
- 10:00Speaker 1: But I'd be like, why would you be doing that
- 10:02Speaker 1: because you're hurting the whole show.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Yeah, because they're all in the WNBA together.
- 10:05Speaker 3: Yeah, and if one drops out, it hurts.
- 10:08Speaker 2: It affects you, right, She is bringing in eyeballs at
- 10:12Speaker 2: your league.
- 10:13Speaker 1: I watched, yeah, the whole game. I didn't even bet
- 10:16Speaker 1: on it. Give me Pennrose on my nose.
- 10:18Speaker 2: It's a good job, dude. You never do that. I know.
- 10:20Speaker 1: I didn't know if I forgot I forgot to. But
- 10:23Speaker 1: she did score twenty points, had like three or four assists.
- 10:26Speaker 1: It probably wasn't her best game. Ten turnovers, five of
- 10:29Speaker 1: them probably were real.
- 10:30Speaker 2: That's crazy that twenty points isn't her best game.
- 10:32Speaker 3: She got them mostly late.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Other news, freaking Doug Gottlab's the coach at University of
- 10:38Speaker 1: Green Bay, Wisconsin. Why all that? Why he's not the
- 10:42Speaker 1: head basketball coach? Oh wow, we're going to play a
- 10:44Speaker 1: whole interview back with him coming up in just a minute.
- 10:46Speaker 1: But he got the head. You didn't see that, No,
- 10:47Speaker 1: I didn't see that at all. He got the head
- 10:49Speaker 1: coaching job.
- 10:49Speaker 3: Now.
- 10:49Speaker 2: His dad was the coach at Milwaukee.
- 10:53Speaker 1: He apparently Gottli was born in Wisconsin, but Gottley played
- 10:56Speaker 1: at Oklahoma State. He's now on Fox Sports. He's been
- 10:58Speaker 1: a guest on our show. But he's gonna go be
- 11:00Speaker 1: the head coach. No head Coaching Experience, Wow. Has been
- 11:03Speaker 1: an assistant for Like the World Games. No Head Coaching Experience,
- 11:07Speaker 1: was a consultant for Oklahoma State this last year. But
- 11:10Speaker 1: Like is one of the top ten assists givers of
- 11:13Speaker 1: all time in college basketball.
- 11:15Speaker 3: I think he'll do well because I.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Think that job now is very much because he's going
- 11:20Speaker 1: to be ex as the nose for sure, but it's
- 11:22Speaker 1: very much.
- 11:22Speaker 3: Can you raise money? Braniel, and he'll be able to.
- 11:26Speaker 1: I like Doug a lot, but I saw the headline
- 11:31Speaker 1: radio host gets Division I college coaching job, and I
- 11:33Speaker 1: was like, there's I can coach like it gave me,
- 11:37Speaker 1: gave me home.
- 11:39Speaker 3: But I'm super happy for him.
- 11:40Speaker 2: You're like, coach cal you need me, Kevin, What were
- 11:43Speaker 2: your thoughts?
- 11:44Speaker 4: I was surprised just because he's doing so well in
- 11:47Speaker 4: the radio world, going on right now media and then
- 11:49Speaker 4: it was just kind of like out of nowhere because
- 11:51Speaker 4: he lives in LA that's where he does a Fox
- 11:52Speaker 4: Sports stuff and then all of a sudden, Wisconsin.
- 11:56Speaker 2: But you can always go back to Rado.
- 11:58Speaker 1: No, you're not knowing the best part in his coach
- 12:01Speaker 1: and contract, it has been said he can still do
- 12:03Speaker 1: his radio.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Show every day. That's that's the best.
- 12:05Speaker 3: How's he gonna have time to do that.
- 12:06Speaker 4: I was like, Okay, he's doing it.
- 12:08Speaker 1: I try to do like eight things at once, and
- 12:10Speaker 1: you know, sometimes I get a little burnt in certain areas.
- 12:14Speaker 1: But a first year coach, that's awesome if you can
- 12:17Speaker 1: pull it off, because that show. That means I can
- 12:18Speaker 1: do this. We had to go through the legal part
- 12:21Speaker 1: of seeing if I could run for office and be
- 12:23Speaker 1: on the show.
- 12:23Speaker 3: I had to go through all the attorneys.
- 12:25Speaker 2: Yeah, that's good.
- 12:25Speaker 1: I was when I was going to run for governor
- 12:27Speaker 1: of Arkansas, and because of certain legalities, I could have
- 12:31Speaker 1: stayed on the air everywhere but Arkansas.
- 12:36Speaker 2: And what about what you're talking about the content and
- 12:38Speaker 2: all that doesn't matter. Wow, it doesn't matter.
- 12:40Speaker 1: But because I was running in Arkansas, was not gonna
- 12:42Speaker 1: be able to stay on the air on the public
- 12:43Speaker 1: airwaves in Arkansas because it was unfair. But I could
- 12:48Speaker 1: have stayed doing the entire national show. I think people
- 12:53Speaker 1: sometimes and they don't because I didn't. I didn't want
- 12:57Speaker 1: to push it any more than I did, but I
- 12:59Speaker 1: it was a lot closer to happening than I probably
- 13:02Speaker 1: let on it happening publicly. Like a bout a house
- 13:05Speaker 1: in Arkansas, and I had enough. I lived there for
- 13:07Speaker 1: seven years. I lived there for the first twenty two
- 13:09Speaker 1: years of my life, so I had seven consecutive years
- 13:12Speaker 1: in But I was like, I need to have a
- 13:13Speaker 1: residence because the first thing's gonna be like, you don't.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Even live here. Yes, I do.
- 13:16Speaker 3: Suck my balls right here, here's my house.
- 13:18Speaker 2: That's there. You go, that's your governor. I was looking
- 13:23Speaker 2: forward to being lieutenant governor. Yeah that's not really how
- 13:25Speaker 2: that works, but uh that and then Kevin would have
- 13:28Speaker 2: been the treasurer.
- 13:30Speaker 1: I'm gonna know, no, humbers ain't my thing. I'm getting
- 13:35Speaker 1: a message, Doug, now.
- 13:37Speaker 4: That's what I was gonna say. We need to get
- 13:38Speaker 4: him back on.
- 13:39Speaker 2: Well.
- 13:39Speaker 1: I didn't want to hit him now because I figured
- 13:41Speaker 1: a lot going on. I want to audio message him. Hey, buddy,
- 13:44Speaker 1: I know it's early out there. I just want to
- 13:46Speaker 1: say congrats on the job. When it said a radio
- 13:50Speaker 1: host is now a d one coach, I was like,
- 13:52Speaker 1: there's now there's hope for me. I'm taking over the
- 13:54Speaker 1: razorbackstuff for Calipari. Uh, congratulations, it's gonna be awesome. But
- 13:59Speaker 1: you canna raise a ton of money and I alwise,
- 14:01Speaker 1: let me know if you ever want to come on
- 14:04Speaker 1: the show. I'm not hitting you up for a guest.
- 14:06Speaker 1: I'm out of town anyway. But I just want to
- 14:08Speaker 1: say congratulations, and I hope you're good. It's super cool
- 14:11Speaker 1: to see, man, So I get a couple extra coats.
- 14:14Speaker 1: As you know, it's freaking cold up there, all right,
- 14:16Speaker 1: Sea Bud, that's pretty cool man.
- 14:19Speaker 4: I think that was one of my biggest shockers. I
- 14:20Speaker 4: was like, dang, he's going back to Wisconsin from La.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:24Speaker 3: That's uh, it's it's cold, They're not. I don't think
- 14:27Speaker 3: they could be. The Wisconsin suns.
- 14:29Speaker 2: No, no, even though the sun doest shine.
- 14:31Speaker 3: There and Wisconsin snow blizzards.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Yes.
- 14:35Speaker 1: Okay, let's take a quick break and I got some
- 14:37Speaker 1: more stuff to talk about.
- 14:40Speaker 3: All right, Jared Goff gets paid.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Uh, you know, I think The debate was was it
- 14:44Speaker 1: going to be a four guy or a five guy?
- 14:46Speaker 2: He's a five guy. I got fifty million bucks. Good
- 14:48Speaker 2: for him?
- 14:48Speaker 1: Four years, two unter twelve million, one hundred and seventy guaranteed. Yes,
- 14:52Speaker 1: Jared Gof's good.
- 14:53Speaker 2: Yeah. I'd say he's mister reliable, like you want him
- 14:55Speaker 2: on your team.
- 14:56Speaker 1: I would say he's top twelve quarterback. Yeah, maybe top ten.
- 15:00Speaker 1: I mean, listen, he played in a Super Bowl, He's
- 15:02Speaker 1: been to two NFC Championship games. He's better than Dak is.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Okay, I didn't need to say that, but I mean,
- 15:10Speaker 2: there's a lot of other quarterbacks.
- 15:11Speaker 1: You know. But I'm saying that because Dak gets a
- 15:14Speaker 1: lot of it's freaking Dak Prescott, but Dak has it.
- 15:17Speaker 2: I don't think Dak gets a lot of it's freaking
- 15:19Speaker 2: down Prescott.
- 15:19Speaker 1: They do, and it's like the big controversy. Should that
- 15:21Speaker 1: get paid fifty million a year?
- 15:22Speaker 2: Sure? Should?
- 15:24Speaker 3: He hasn't done near what Jared Goff.
- 15:25Speaker 4: Has, andie, would you rather have Jared Goff on the
- 15:28Speaker 4: Cowboys team right now?
- 15:30Speaker 2: You love Dak Dak?
- 15:32Speaker 3: I like Dak.
- 15:33Speaker 1: I like Dak, but I just but if you're comparing
- 15:38Speaker 1: the two. I think everybody's head goes Dak over Golf. Sure,
- 15:41Speaker 1: but Dak hasn't done near what GoF has done.
- 15:44Speaker 2: And Goff is solid. He's a solid, solid quarter. I
- 15:47Speaker 2: think Golf is good, not solid.
- 15:50Speaker 3: I think he's good.
- 15:51Speaker 2: And he looks like Ryan Goslin. He does. If they
- 15:54Speaker 2: were to ever make a movie about Jared Goff, it'll
- 15:57Speaker 2: be Ryan Goslin playing.
- 15:59Speaker 4: I tell you, guys, we'll talk about I saw his
- 16:00Speaker 4: bachelorette party in Mexico.
- 16:02Speaker 2: No, please talk about this, talk about that? Or no, no,
- 16:04Speaker 2: you told me you know the story? Tell tell Vones.
- 16:07Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 16:07Speaker 4: Go ahead, Okay, So when I was in Mexico last month,
- 16:10Speaker 4: because yeah, we weren't even doing whistles at the time,
- 16:12Speaker 4: and we were in Cabo, and we were at this
- 16:14Speaker 4: beach club, beach party thing going on, and we walked
- 16:16Speaker 4: by this table full of girls. There was like ten
- 16:17Speaker 4: twelve obviously beautiful girls, and we looked down at the
- 16:20Speaker 4: table and all of a sudden, we see like a cutout,
- 16:23Speaker 4: you know, that the big cardboard cutout on a stick,
- 16:25Speaker 4: and it's Jared Goff's face. And I looked down and
- 16:28Speaker 4: then I looked back up and I'm like, yeah, these
- 16:29Speaker 4: girls kind of look like NFL wives actually, and then
- 16:32Speaker 4: one of the girls looks. She looks at me, and
- 16:33Speaker 4: I'm like, is this Jared Goff's, you know, bachelor?
- 16:36Speaker 2: Oh it wasn't him there already. No, it was a
- 16:38Speaker 2: picture of him a stick, but it was fiance.
- 16:41Speaker 4: She was having a bachelorette the same place as us,
- 16:44Speaker 4: and we were with them. And then she turns to
- 16:45Speaker 4: me and she's like yeah, I mean, then she kind
- 16:47Speaker 4: of gives me like a dirty look, and then I
- 16:49Speaker 4: was just like, all right, never mind, turn back around.
- 16:51Speaker 4: And then she turns back around and flips the cardboard
- 16:54Speaker 4: cutout of his face over so we can't look at
- 16:56Speaker 4: it anymore. Like go away basically is what she was
- 16:59Speaker 4: saying to So I was like, don't put his cardboard
- 17:02Speaker 4: face or his face on a cardboard cutout, if you
- 17:04Speaker 4: don't want people to know who you are.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Yeah, I would think that's her going, please don't record
- 17:09Speaker 1: this more so than I hate you, because obviously they're
- 17:14Speaker 1: just trying to have a fun bachelor at party. He's
- 17:17Speaker 1: semi hope high profile, and now somebody recognizes it. I
- 17:22Speaker 1: think I would be I would also be willing to
- 17:25Speaker 1: bet wasn't there can't confirm it that you interpreted her
- 17:27Speaker 1: look a bit wrong?
- 17:29Speaker 2: Oh really? Not just being like I hate you, stupid idiot.
- 17:32Speaker 2: Nobody likes you or your show. When I first heard
- 17:34Speaker 2: the story, I took it as like, oh, here we
- 17:36Speaker 2: go sports fans like they're gonna bother us.
- 17:38Speaker 1: I took it as, oh God, we better not be
- 17:41Speaker 1: crazy or do anything that will regret because somebody's recognize us.
- 17:44Speaker 2: Do you think they cared about that, Kevin? Well, like,
- 17:47Speaker 2: were they being crazy?
- 17:48Speaker 3: Well, they flipped the thing.
- 17:49Speaker 2: Of course they flipped the well.
- 17:51Speaker 4: I mean, what was she up on the stage day
- 17:52Speaker 4: the other time?
- 17:53Speaker 2: May right, you should be able to go out and
- 17:56Speaker 2: have fun.
- 17:57Speaker 4: Yeah, I agree, I agree, and we didn't like obviously
- 17:59Speaker 4: I didn't us at my phone or anything like that.
- 18:01Speaker 4: But then there was a couple behind us. I said,
- 18:03Speaker 4: they did the same thing to them too, So I
- 18:04Speaker 4: think they were, But I don't know. It's like Kevin's
- 18:07Speaker 4: right though, like bas on a cardboard cutout, don't.
- 18:10Speaker 2: Do that if you don't want anyone to associate.
- 18:12Speaker 1: But also if you're in Mexico and one of their
- 18:14Speaker 1: friends brought it, I'm sure she didn't bring the cardboard cutout.
- 18:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I do want it to be clear. It wasn't
- 18:17Speaker 4: his fiance that gave me the looker.
- 18:19Speaker 2: I don't know who it was.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Oh then even better because that person's just like being protective,
- 18:22Speaker 1: trying to protect her friend.
- 18:24Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, So that's on you, Kevin.
- 18:27Speaker 1: You're the douche look You shouldn't have stared at the
- 18:29Speaker 1: cardboard cutout.
- 18:30Speaker 3: Should have let them live their life.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Kevin, Did you follow them for the rest of the night.
- 18:33Speaker 4: No, No, I did go on their Instagram and I
- 18:35Speaker 4: saw their own like a private boat. After that, I
- 18:37Speaker 4: was like, yeah, okay, never mind.
- 18:38Speaker 2: That's all that's.
- 18:42Speaker 1: ESPN reveals they're thirty for thirty Summer Slate. Come on,
- 18:45Speaker 1: and I can read you what they are, be honest
- 18:48Speaker 1: with you. Not a lot of interest from me. Oh really,
- 18:50Speaker 1: I don't even know what some of this is. Aren't
- 18:52Speaker 1: they on, Like I know, it's thirty for thirty. Aren't
- 18:54Speaker 1: they on like one hundred and eighty for thirty at
- 18:55Speaker 1: this point? Yeah, but there's still a lot of great
- 18:56Speaker 1: stories out there, right, Yeah.
- 18:58Speaker 2: But I mean whistles, But I mean it's thirty for thirty, right,
- 19:01Speaker 2: twenty five whistles. We're on episode one.
- 19:04Speaker 1: And we do twenty five new ones every season, and
- 19:08Speaker 1: then we do any more. So I'm just here for
- 19:12Speaker 1: the Riots. We'll look at the twenty eleven Vancouver Riot
- 19:14Speaker 1: following a Canucks loss to the Boston Bruins.
- 19:17Speaker 2: Don't remember that? Yeah?
- 19:18Speaker 3: Do you remember that? Kevin being a Boston guy?
- 19:20Speaker 5: No?
- 19:20Speaker 2: Okay?
- 19:21Speaker 3: False positive?
- 19:22Speaker 1: The story of Butcher Reynolds, a major track and field star,
- 19:25Speaker 1: and his efforts to clear his name after testing positive
- 19:27Speaker 1: for drugs and Monaco in nineteen ninety.
- 19:29Speaker 2: I don't remember that.
- 19:30Speaker 4: It wasn't alive.
- 19:31Speaker 1: And it's not just that I don't know it. That
- 19:34Speaker 1: doesn't even draw me in these stories. I mean, if
- 19:36Speaker 1: there's nothing else on, but there's always something on now
- 19:38Speaker 1: because you're gonna go streaming, no scope. The story of
- 19:42Speaker 1: Faza Klan, the ups and downs of the gaming brand,
- 19:46Speaker 1: and I don't know if I'm saying it right, fhase
- 19:48Speaker 1: Clan or fase Klon. I don't know the gaming brand.
- 19:51Speaker 1: So I'm sure a different audience will come to that,
- 19:53Speaker 1: not really me, what what brand? Fase Klon?
- 19:55Speaker 2: What what game for? No? Interesting?
- 19:59Speaker 1: Here's one though, that I do find a little bit interesting. Dude,
- 20:03Speaker 1: perfect A very long shot will follow the rise of
- 20:05Speaker 1: trick shot YouTubers.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Dude Perfect, I like that one.
- 20:07Speaker 1: That would be kind of cool to see how they
- 20:09Speaker 1: not how but when it happened and how they started
- 20:14Speaker 1: to build that. You know, one of those guys DM me,
- 20:19Speaker 1: the main one with the beard. I just say, Dude
- 20:21Speaker 1: Perfect is one dude. No, there's like four of them.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Oh I know, but I only know one dude the
- 20:25Speaker 1: face of it.
- 20:25Speaker 2: I don't even know who the guy was, but he
- 20:27Speaker 2: DMed me like maybe ten years ago and said he
- 20:29Speaker 2: was a big fan of our show and he looked.
- 20:32Speaker 2: But this was a long time ago, and I just
- 20:33Speaker 2: kind of ignored it because I didn't really know who
- 20:35Speaker 2: Dude Perfect was. But did my kids still watch Dude Perfect?
- 20:38Speaker 2: And it's every generation of my kids, like the first
- 20:40Speaker 2: my sixteen year old used to watch Dude Perfect to
- 20:42Speaker 2: now my five year old loves Dude Perfect.
- 20:46Speaker 1: It has inspired a bunch of copycatters or just people.
- 20:48Speaker 1: I guess it's not copycatters. Isn't fair because everybody kind
- 20:52Speaker 1: of takes from everybody in art and this is like
- 20:53Speaker 1: sport meets art. Yeah, but the Dude Perfect guys had
- 20:58Speaker 1: like a side stream of a game like ESPN too.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Oh they did.
- 21:01Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like they'd watch a game, but they'd be
- 21:03Speaker 1: the ones like Peyton and Eli Do or McAfee if
- 21:06Speaker 1: they had a version maybe on Amazon. Like it's really
- 21:09Speaker 1: cool what they've been able to build over there.
- 21:11Speaker 2: And I feel like they're kind of like fast and
- 21:12Speaker 2: Furious too where if they keep going, this is going
- 21:15Speaker 2: to be like, all right, can we speak this shop
- 21:16Speaker 2: from the moon?
- 21:18Speaker 1: Can we make the shot before I die? There's a
- 21:21Speaker 1: gun pointing right in my head. If I don't make
- 21:23Speaker 1: it in the next hour, it shoots me. American Son
- 21:27Speaker 1: chronicles the journey of tennis prodigy Michael Chang and his
- 21:30Speaker 1: upset of Von Lindall in the nineteen eighty nine French Open.
- 21:33Speaker 2: That's a long time ago, man.
- 21:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I just my American tennis is pretty much Sampras
- 21:37Speaker 1: and Rodic and Agasy.
- 21:40Speaker 2: That's about it.
- 21:41Speaker 1: And I just didn't lead with Rodi because my friend,
- 21:44Speaker 1: but Rodick was a big freaking deal.
- 21:45Speaker 3: He host to the SNL.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Oh, I didn't realize that. It's funny to watch back. Yeah,
- 21:50Speaker 1: who was his musical guest?
- 21:51Speaker 2: Do you remember? That's really cool? I didn't know that.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Yeah, he's the SNL you know, he dated Mandy Moore's
- 21:57Speaker 1: big called culture thing.
- 21:59Speaker 3: Him and I didn't become friends.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Until two thousand and five.
- 22:06Speaker 1: I was gonna guess five or six, guess and so
- 22:09Speaker 1: he was. He had been number one for a long time,
- 22:11Speaker 1: but I did not become friend friends with him until
- 22:13Speaker 1: after he won the US Open, So it wasn't there
- 22:16Speaker 1: for him.
- 22:17Speaker 3: He was nineteen when he won the US Open.
- 22:18Speaker 1: Yeah, so yeah, but I was there for a lot
- 22:21Speaker 1: of the Wimbledon final against Roger Federal losses.
- 22:26Speaker 3: Those are tough.
- 22:27Speaker 2: That was towards the end.
- 22:28Speaker 1: I mean, it was this whole thing. I think he
- 22:30Speaker 1: lost like five or six Wimbledon championships. Like, think about that.
- 22:35Speaker 1: You go to the it's like getting It's like the
- 22:36Speaker 1: Buffalo Bills. Yeah, think about going to four Super Bowl
- 22:39Speaker 1: and losing all four so close? Goy, those are the
- 22:42Speaker 1: new ESPN thirty for thirties.
- 22:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm with you, man, a little underwhelmed. Not looking
- 22:46Speaker 2: forward to those. Really don't think I'll watch him.
- 22:49Speaker 3: What do you say?
- 22:50Speaker 4: Dave Matthews was his musical guest.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Oh, is that why they're buddies?
- 22:55Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 22:55Speaker 2: Okay, that makes sense?
- 22:56Speaker 3: Well, so much to say so much to say.
- 23:00Speaker 1: We have like ninety seconds left before we get into
- 23:03Speaker 1: little spot, and I want to play the Doug Gottlieb
- 23:05Speaker 1: interview back because he does talk about a lot of
- 23:06Speaker 1: his career in sports.
- 23:09Speaker 2: Why don't we do this. Let's do that first and
- 23:11Speaker 2: then we'll do an end Doug. What's up?
- 23:12Speaker 1: Man?
- 23:12Speaker 5: All good man?
- 23:13Speaker 3: Hey?
- 23:14Speaker 1: I was looking at the Wikipedia for all time assists leaders,
- 23:17Speaker 1: and I had known that you were one of the
- 23:19Speaker 1: top ten NC double assist leaders of all time. I
- 23:21Speaker 1: would just be obsessed with making sure that nobody was
- 23:24Speaker 1: coming up on me. Do you look and see who's
- 23:26Speaker 1: approaching so you don't get knocked off the top of
- 23:29Speaker 1: the list.
- 23:30Speaker 6: It's like the guys that are good enough usually go pro.
- 23:35Speaker 6: You know these COVID year guys. You're worried about guys
- 23:38Speaker 6: getting fits in six years.
- 23:39Speaker 5: Coming up beating you.
- 23:40Speaker 6: Oh yeah, last year, Noel whatever from Kansas.
- 23:46Speaker 5: State, Marquis Marquese h Marquis Noell.
- 23:50Speaker 6: Yeah, he was getting really close to my single season
- 23:52Speaker 6: in the Big twelve, and had they won in the
- 23:54Speaker 6: Elite eight, I was cooked and he was like really close.
- 23:57Speaker 6: I think he finished like three short of me. So
- 23:59Speaker 6: I hadn't in that position before. But I was like, yeah, dude,
- 24:02Speaker 6: like anybody who says they don't give it about their records,
- 24:06Speaker 6: this is fully you know, like you want something for posterity.
- 24:10Speaker 6: I used to be seventh, and the guy who's sixth
- 24:12Speaker 6: is Greg Anthony. I was literally three short of him.
- 24:16Speaker 6: He played a whole bunch more games than I did
- 24:19Speaker 6: because they they won a national championship and they went
- 24:21Speaker 6: to the national semi finals. Right, But like, I'm still
- 24:25Speaker 6: bitter because my junior year, when I led the country
- 24:29Speaker 6: and assist, I was in the doghouse for eight games.
- 24:32Speaker 6: So I actually, in overall average, that was the fewest
- 24:36Speaker 6: minutes per game I played in my career. And so.
- 24:41Speaker 5: Obviously had I not been the doghouse, or my coach just.
- 24:43Speaker 6: Like benched me for a game or not played me
- 24:46Speaker 6: for a game, Like if you mentioned me just like
- 24:48Speaker 6: one game, hey, you don't play, it wouldn't have hurt
- 24:50Speaker 6: my average, but it would hurt my average but when
- 24:52Speaker 6: or my average, but my overall total would have been lower.
- 24:55Speaker 6: But I went through a stretch where I was playing
- 24:57Speaker 6: like eight or ten minutes anyway, So then you're like,
- 24:59Speaker 6: if he hadn't done that me, I would have been
- 25:01Speaker 6: like third or fourth all the time, you know, so
- 25:04Speaker 6: there's a yes, I definitely pay attention to it.
- 25:06Speaker 5: I'm not gonna lie to here.
- 25:07Speaker 2: I saw Gary Payton as below.
- 25:09Speaker 3: That's pretty cool. You're above Gary Payton.
- 25:11Speaker 5: Yeah, but he did all kinds of others.
- 25:14Speaker 2: It doesn't matter. I just see a list and Gary
- 25:16Speaker 2: Payton that's true. Yeah, who cares? So a big fan.
- 25:21Speaker 3: Been listening to you forever.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Obviously we've established kind of a personal relationship as well,
- 25:25Speaker 1: so I really appreciate you coming on here. A couple
- 25:27Speaker 1: of things I wanted to talk with you about. First
- 25:29Speaker 1: of all, as being an assist guy, did.
- 25:31Speaker 3: You ever feel like teams knew you wouldn't shoot, like
- 25:33Speaker 3: they're like.
- 25:34Speaker 2: Yes, it was just back off.
- 25:36Speaker 3: And do you feel like you had to then have
- 25:37Speaker 3: games where you would prove you could still put up
- 25:39Speaker 3: fifteen to twenty.
- 25:40Speaker 5: Yeah, but I couldn't.
- 25:41Speaker 6: There was like three games, So I mean, it's really
- 25:44Speaker 6: interesting because like forever in the Big Twelve, all being
- 25:48Speaker 6: known as a guy that could make every pass, but
- 25:50Speaker 6: you know, couldn't throw it in the ocean. And my
- 25:52Speaker 6: last Big Twelve tournament game we played Iowa State. That
- 25:56Speaker 6: Iowa State team was probably the second best team in
- 25:59Speaker 6: the country that year.
- 25:59Speaker 5: They lost to.
- 26:01Speaker 6: Michigan State in the Elite Eight, who ultimately won the
- 26:03Speaker 6: national championship, and I was State l Airryu Stacey was
- 26:08Speaker 6: the coach and he tells everybody to this day, and
- 26:10Speaker 6: there's other guys that are head coaches who are assistant
- 26:13Speaker 6: on that staff. But I'll tell you that their whole
- 26:15Speaker 6: game plan was not just to let me shoot, but
- 26:18Speaker 6: also when I drive, they'd fake and then make me finish.
- 26:21Speaker 6: Because I got to this point to where like all
- 26:24Speaker 6: I did was pass, you know. It was like it
- 26:28Speaker 6: was like the yips at first, and then it just
- 26:31Speaker 6: kind of took over my game and it was it
- 26:33Speaker 6: was literally playing without a jump shot was really hard,
- 26:36Speaker 6: and there were a couple of games where it went away,
- 26:39Speaker 6: where the like anxiety of it went away, and like
- 26:42Speaker 6: I had nineteen against other miss I had my last
- 26:45Speaker 6: home game against Oklahoma, I had two big threes. We
- 26:48Speaker 6: played a Kansas site a couple of big threes, but
- 26:51Speaker 6: generally I just mentally emotionally couldn't get myself to relax shooting,
- 26:56Speaker 6: and everybody in.
- 26:57Speaker 5: The league knew it.
- 26:58Speaker 6: So it was really it's actually like you ask people
- 27:03Speaker 6: like what I was able to accomplish, especially like my
- 27:05Speaker 6: senior year is kind of gratifying because literally played without
- 27:10Speaker 6: a jump shot, and that's hard. It's like living without
- 27:14Speaker 6: one of your senses. So all the rest of your
- 27:16Speaker 6: senses become heightened, but that one sense is really really
- 27:20Speaker 6: hard to play without.
- 27:21Speaker 3: Do you feel like you lost your shot as you
- 27:24Speaker 3: got older and specialized more? Meaning in high school? Could
- 27:27Speaker 3: you fill it out better?
- 27:28Speaker 5: Oh? Yeah, yeah.
- 27:29Speaker 6: I mean I wouldn't have been recruited and been rated
- 27:32Speaker 6: as highly as I was if I couldn't shoot. I
- 27:35Speaker 6: mean I was never step Curry, but I pattered in
- 27:38Speaker 6: my game after Bobby Hurly, and you know, he got
- 27:43Speaker 6: to be a better, better shooter. In college, I was.
- 27:46Speaker 5: I scored. I was the ultimately scorer in my high school.
- 27:49Speaker 6: I had forty four in a game. I could shoot
- 27:51Speaker 6: and score well enough, but I'm ultimately a bit of
- 27:55Speaker 6: I think, a control freak. And so part of what
- 27:58Speaker 6: happened early in my career and then at Notre Dame
- 28:01Speaker 6: and then at Oklahoma State was, you know, I wanted
- 28:04Speaker 6: to control who've got the shots and kind of be
- 28:06Speaker 6: the hero by creating opportunities for my teammates. And I
- 28:11Speaker 6: also I got big and strong, and I think I
- 28:14Speaker 6: lost some of my touch. And then when I lost
- 28:16Speaker 6: some of my touch and I was trying to control things,
- 28:19Speaker 6: you know, then your shooting percentages go down and down
- 28:21Speaker 6: and down, and then you just kind of get in
- 28:24Speaker 6: this mentality of Okay, if I just do what I
- 28:27Speaker 6: can do best, and if I don't miss a shot,
- 28:31Speaker 6: I'll never come out of the game. I hated coming
- 28:33Speaker 6: out of games, and it worked against me because I
- 28:36Speaker 6: figured if I don't miss, well, you can't take me out.
- 28:40Speaker 6: So if I don't shoot, I can't miss. So I
- 28:42Speaker 6: just wouldn't shoot, and then ultimately people wuld dare me
- 28:44Speaker 6: to shoot, and then it became really difficult. I don't
- 28:46Speaker 6: know if I'm making sense.
- 28:48Speaker 3: Would they ever talk trash and be like you can't shoot, hey,
- 28:50Speaker 3: you can't shoot shoot it?
- 28:51Speaker 7: Shoot it every game, really every game, every game, and
- 28:55Speaker 7: it's you know, you'd sit there and literally the hardest
- 28:58Speaker 7: thing to do, I think is you're wide open every
- 29:01Speaker 7: time you get It's like Ben Simmons, how they.
- 29:05Speaker 5: Is like, you're open. You can shoot the ball anytime you.
- 29:07Speaker 6: Want, and it's technically an open shot, you know, and
- 29:11Speaker 6: again this is also remember this is in like ninety nine,
- 29:14Speaker 6: two thousand. So what my so, like my coach at
- 29:19Speaker 6: the time, like take it in a good better shot,
- 29:22Speaker 6: Like it's actually a better shot to shoot a three,
- 29:25Speaker 6: or you can make if you make you know, three
- 29:28Speaker 6: out of ten, it's it's equally as good as making
- 29:33Speaker 6: you know, four out of ten or five out of
- 29:35Speaker 6: ten twos. And so I, you know, if I could
- 29:38Speaker 6: go back and do it, I would have sat down
- 29:40Speaker 6: my coach and be like, look, man, you gotta let me.
- 29:43Speaker 5: Just let me do.
- 29:43Speaker 6: Let me shoot what I'm open, don't take me out,
- 29:47Speaker 6: take me out when I turn down open shots, and
- 29:49Speaker 6: if I make a couple, everything else will open up.
- 29:52Speaker 5: But I didn't.
- 29:52Speaker 6: You know, I was intimidated, and I was in my
- 29:55Speaker 6: own head, and you know it it became really really hard,
- 30:00Speaker 6: and I take a.
- 30:01Speaker 5: Personal sort of pride from it. You know.
- 30:03Speaker 6: The way I tried to work it in my mind
- 30:05Speaker 6: was if I sucked athletically, or if I sucked at others,
- 30:09Speaker 6: they wouldn't they wouldn't play off me, right, There'd be
- 30:12Speaker 6: no fear of me, period. But the reality is it's
- 30:15Speaker 6: hard for me even to go back and watch or
- 30:16Speaker 6: show my kids, my kid that the way I played,
- 30:20Speaker 6: because it's kind of embarrassing when guys playing five feet
- 30:24Speaker 6: offee and you don't shoot.
- 30:25Speaker 2: Could you go back and.
- 30:26Speaker 1: Take tape and appeal and be like, no, this was
- 30:28Speaker 1: an assist.
- 30:29Speaker 2: You guys did not count it.
- 30:30Speaker 1: I need to move up the layers two assists from
- 30:32Speaker 1: this game because I'll be doing that crap.
- 30:34Speaker 5: It's a great question and the answer is one time.
- 30:37Speaker 6: So we played against UNLB and a really a guy
- 30:41Speaker 6: who's become a really good friend of mine, saying is
- 30:43Speaker 6: Mark Dipple. Mark is Australia, and Mark was their point guard.
- 30:47Speaker 6: And so we played them my junior year when we
- 30:49Speaker 6: stomped them, and that was when I came out of
- 30:51Speaker 6: the dog.
- 30:52Speaker 5: I was in the doghouse. I was going to leave
- 30:53Speaker 5: the team.
- 30:54Speaker 6: And I had a great game in Vegas, and as
- 30:57Speaker 6: as chance would happen, we played them again my year,
- 31:00Speaker 6: also in Vegas, and.
- 31:02Speaker 5: So we get down, we molly welcome, and I remember.
- 31:07Speaker 6: I'd always gotten a statue half time and after the game,
- 31:10Speaker 6: and I grabbed a statute and I had like four assists,
- 31:13Speaker 6: and I was like, what the you know, this is
- 31:17Speaker 6: some bowl and our other our assistant coach was my
- 31:21Speaker 6: coach's son, his named Sean Sutton, who was also point guard,
- 31:25Speaker 6: and he's like, oh, there's some you know. Like so
- 31:29Speaker 6: we actually went back and I was and I know
- 31:31Speaker 6: in my mind about how many I had, Like I
- 31:34Speaker 6: was like, I think I had thirteen or fourteen, And
- 31:38Speaker 6: we went back and like literally by definition of assist,
- 31:42Speaker 6: it was like twelve. And I was trying to you know,
- 31:45Speaker 6: I was trying to lead the country again. I was
- 31:48Speaker 6: trying to get the all time mark, which is Bobby
- 31:50Speaker 6: Gurley's mark, which is probably out of reach. So we
- 31:55Speaker 6: sent it back, We sent it to the NCAA and
- 31:58Speaker 6: they get I think they gave me nine amy nine
- 32:01Speaker 6: as sist.
- 32:01Speaker 5: So it was the only time we ever did that.
- 32:03Speaker 6: And really, like here's here's how crazy in what a
- 32:08Speaker 6: small world Oklahoma State is. And you know this from
- 32:11Speaker 6: your time with your TV show and go into all
- 32:14Speaker 6: these small college towns. Right is the guy who kept
- 32:18Speaker 6: stats at Oklahoma State is named Lee Manser.
- 32:24Speaker 5: Lee's son, Rendon, played there. Lee was my marketing professor.
- 32:28Speaker 6: As matter of fact, my last course that I had
- 32:32Speaker 6: to take, I took correspondence my senior year. I had
- 32:34Speaker 6: three hours left and it took me four years to
- 32:36Speaker 6: complete it. But like he was a hard ass, not
- 32:41Speaker 6: just like literally correspondence courses. He could have just gave
- 32:43Speaker 6: me a CE or whatever. I had to do all
- 32:45Speaker 6: the work. But it was the same way with statting,
- 32:48Speaker 6: Like my stats weren't great at home all the time
- 32:51Speaker 6: they weren't. It wasn't like they pumped up my stats.
- 32:53Speaker 6: I had my marketing professor who was screwing me with
- 32:56Speaker 6: my stats. So I know only would you get screwed
- 32:59Speaker 6: on the road, but at home, like lead Manser was
- 33:02Speaker 6: buy the book an assist and assist. I'm not giving
- 33:04Speaker 6: you extras. And so if you go back and watch tape,
- 33:07Speaker 6: there'd be passes where I turn and I point to
- 33:10Speaker 6: my marketing professor who's keeping the stats for our team.
- 33:12Speaker 2: That's a real story, just to remind him, Hey, leap,
- 33:15Speaker 2: don't miss that.
- 33:16Speaker 5: That's exactly what I do. That's an assist. And he'd
- 33:19Speaker 5: be like that, like that's an assist.
- 33:21Speaker 2: Doug Gottlieb show.
- 33:23Speaker 5: Directly to a basket.
- 33:24Speaker 2: That's the definition of the podcast is really good.
- 33:26Speaker 1: It's all ball with Doug Gottlieb, and you can listen
- 33:28Speaker 1: to it on iHeart radio wherever you listen to your
- 33:30Speaker 1: podcasts or the Doug Gottlieb Show on Fox Sports Radio
- 33:32Speaker 1: three to five Eastern.
- 33:34Speaker 2: So a couple of things I wanted to talk about.
- 33:36Speaker 5: I ask you a question, you know, Okay, come on,
- 33:39Speaker 5: let me just ask you one question.
- 33:40Speaker 3: Okay, I'm ready.
- 33:42Speaker 5: Okay.
- 33:42Speaker 6: So I've said this, like, boy Seat is the best
- 33:46Speaker 6: city that you'll never visit?
- 33:48Speaker 5: Yes to a lot of people.
- 33:49Speaker 2: Yes, okay.
- 33:50Speaker 6: And there's Charleston's like that. There's a lot of places
- 33:52Speaker 6: like that. And you traveled this entire country. Heck, I
- 33:55Speaker 6: know you traveled the book. So here's here's a legit question.
- 33:59Speaker 6: All these college towns you've been, you've been to? Where's
- 34:02Speaker 6: the place you're like? I kind of wish I would
- 34:05Speaker 6: have gone here? I mean, this is this is If
- 34:07Speaker 6: I could go back and pick a place, this would
- 34:11Speaker 6: be the pas.
- 34:11Speaker 1: It's funny you bring up Boise, because Eddie, what do
- 34:14Speaker 1: I say about Boise?
- 34:14Speaker 2: Boise? Man, it's wonderful. What do I say? It's better
- 34:16Speaker 2: than Oh, it's another country? Is no Hawaii? Oh Waii?
- 34:20Speaker 2: That's right, that's right, it's another country.
- 34:23Speaker 5: I said, if I got to pick another country.
- 34:25Speaker 1: I when I spent time there when I was doing
- 34:27Speaker 1: mynt GEO show. I had no idea how versatile that
- 34:32Speaker 1: city is. It doesn't matter what you want to do.
- 34:34Speaker 3: There's some cosmopolitan part of it, there's the outdoors part
- 34:37Speaker 3: of it, there's the traditional sports part.
- 34:40Speaker 2: Boise was awesome, a little too cold for me, but
- 34:43Speaker 2: I often.
- 34:44Speaker 1: Am like, Boise is better than Hawaii to me because
- 34:46Speaker 1: I've been to Hawaii a bunch and I don't even
- 34:48Speaker 1: like the beach. I know you're from California, I don't like.
- 34:49Speaker 1: I grew up in Arkansas. We didn't have beach. I
- 34:51Speaker 1: don't like the beach. I don't even know what you do.
- 34:52Speaker 1: You sit there in the sand. Okay, what I do now?
- 34:56Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 34:56Speaker 6: I mean Lake, Honestly, Lake in many ways to be
- 34:58Speaker 6: better than beach. I'm not going to lie you there. Yeah,
- 35:01Speaker 6: because it's warmer. Yeah, there's there's a lot of these
- 35:06Speaker 6: plus like super fear of dying for me in like waves.
- 35:11Speaker 6: So I'm the guy who grew up in Orange County
- 35:13Speaker 6: and I suck at surfing. My son laughs at me
- 35:16Speaker 6: and says I'm the worst, But I'm kind of with you.
- 35:19Speaker 6: I mean, Hawaii does have incredible hikes. You know, and
- 35:23Speaker 6: and different topography than than we have.
- 35:26Speaker 2: Times out times on tof in Hawaii can't work there.
- 35:31Speaker 5: Yeah, the time zone is really hard.
- 35:32Speaker 2: So boys, he's good. I think Madison was. Content's awesome
- 35:35Speaker 2: if it wasn't so cold.
- 35:37Speaker 5: I think it's it's it's so freaking cold there.
- 35:39Speaker 2: I mean, we went really did a.
- 35:41Speaker 1: Show at the Orphium there once and it was winter,
- 35:43Speaker 1: and we had winter in arcantsas we had seasons. However,
- 35:46Speaker 1: we didn't have lakes that froze over and jeeps would
- 35:49Speaker 1: drive on them. We pulled over the car and Eddie
- 35:52Speaker 1: wanted to go walk out on the lake because it
- 35:53Speaker 1: was just frozen.
- 35:54Speaker 2: I'm from South Texas, man, I've never seen anything like that.
- 35:56Speaker 2: That to me is bizarre. It was awesome. So Madison
- 36:00Speaker 2: is a really cool town. I like passion.
- 36:02Speaker 1: I like almost rabid passion Athens, Georgia, and I'm not
- 36:06Speaker 1: saying it because Georgia is good. I like the climate,
- 36:08Speaker 1: and I like the music scene.
- 36:09Speaker 3: I think Athens, Georgia Faetbel obviously is my favorite, but Athens,
- 36:12Speaker 3: george is probably number one with Boise.
- 36:15Speaker 6: You and I've been so many places. Urban ones the
- 36:26Speaker 6: most underrated urban one, I think is the University of Washington,
- 36:30Speaker 6: because Seattle feels like a different country land the You're like, man,
- 36:33Speaker 6: this is really far from the rest of the country,
- 36:36Speaker 6: but it's close enough to the city. You have the
- 36:38Speaker 6: water right there. It's a cool look in campus. That's
- 36:42Speaker 6: I think my most underrated urban one in terms of
- 36:47Speaker 6: like college town or place that I could I could
- 36:50Speaker 6: totally dig. Like I love Austin. I don't think I
- 36:52Speaker 6: could go to school in Austin. I just feel like,
- 36:55Speaker 6: I don't know, there's so much other stuff going on.
- 36:57Speaker 6: I love at Oklahoma State how it was just all
- 37:00Speaker 6: out to school. New Mexico is kind of underrated, to
- 37:04Speaker 6: be totally honest with you. I like Utah State in Logan,
- 37:09Speaker 6: Utah that that's actually a super the Cash Valley again,
- 37:12Speaker 6: I know you don't like cold, actually very hot, warm
- 37:14Speaker 6: in the summer, and kind of smoggy. It's like, I
- 37:17Speaker 6: think it's the smoggiest place in the country.
- 37:21Speaker 3: Warm me up, let's go global warming baby.
- 37:23Speaker 6: It's it's really But if I was gonna pick one
- 37:27Speaker 6: and I was like, man, if I could do it
- 37:29Speaker 6: all over again, I think it would probably be Tuscaloosa.
- 37:36Speaker 2: No way, You're out of your mind, you're out of
- 37:37Speaker 2: your mind.
- 37:39Speaker 6: Well, I took a visit to tuscal Lusa when this
- 37:43Speaker 6: was before they were really good in football. I had
- 37:45Speaker 6: I transferred from Notre Dame to and I was sitting
- 37:48Speaker 6: out of junior college and I went there and they
- 37:53Speaker 6: had I'm Jewish and they have the Jewish betraying. The
- 37:55Speaker 6: Sammy's threw me a party just for me. I have
- 37:59Speaker 6: my own female sport to the party. It was it
- 38:02Speaker 6: was so cool, like just the South.
- 38:04Speaker 5: I don't know how they do it in the South
- 38:06Speaker 5: is really cool.
- 38:06Speaker 6: The only issue I have with schools in the South
- 38:09Speaker 6: is that they care about basketball in the big games,
- 38:13Speaker 6: but they kind of don't give a crap most of
- 38:15Speaker 6: the year, Whereas when I was at Oklahoma State, like
- 38:17Speaker 6: we kind of ran the school and that was very
- 38:19Speaker 6: very cool.
- 38:19Speaker 3: Maybe Tuscalousa for both of us, is just associated with
- 38:22Speaker 3: an emotion. I just associated with getting the crap kicked out.
- 38:25Speaker 1: I mean every time we go down and play football,
- 38:26Speaker 1: like I have to go stand within amongst the statues here.
- 38:30Speaker 5: Wait wait wait, wait, wait, go ahead, I want to switch.
- 38:33Speaker 5: I want to switch oll Miss.
- 38:35Speaker 2: Yeah, well miss is awesome. Boxer is awesome.
- 38:38Speaker 6: Just because like you go, it's like going back in
- 38:40Speaker 6: time when you go to their little town square.
- 38:43Speaker 5: It's so cool.
- 38:44Speaker 2: It's a little rich.
- 38:45Speaker 1: It's a little rich for me, not like cake, like money,
- 38:48Speaker 1: and like I didn't have money for most of my
- 38:50Speaker 1: life and it was like all rich people and like
- 38:53Speaker 1: fraternities and sororities.
- 38:56Speaker 2: But yeah, it is.
- 38:58Speaker 5: It definitely is. I will point by, I don't know
- 39:00Speaker 5: if you.
- 39:01Speaker 3: Know this, but you are rich now now, yes, But
- 39:04Speaker 3: I still I still feel like I'm not for the
- 39:06Speaker 3: most part.
- 39:07Speaker 2: He's not talking about cake either, No, right, yeah, no, no, Look,
- 39:10Speaker 2: I get it.
- 39:11Speaker 6: Like I remember when I went to Notaday my freshman year,
- 39:14Speaker 6: and uh, you know, people can google. It's not hard
- 39:17Speaker 6: to find like I screwed up it. It's stupid, stupid stuff.
- 39:20Speaker 6: But I loved some of the spirit of it. But
- 39:23Speaker 6: I did feel like obviously I had never been to
- 39:26Speaker 6: a private school.
- 39:28Speaker 5: I wasn't Catholic.
- 39:29Speaker 6: But more than anything, there was a lot of affluence
- 39:32Speaker 6: there and I was just a kid from Orange, California
- 39:38Speaker 6: and it was I'm not I'm not saying like I
- 39:41Speaker 6: walked uphill to school barefoot, but naked in the snow.
- 39:45Speaker 6: You know, it's uphill both ways. But I didn't come
- 39:48Speaker 6: from a ton and I just felt like I remember
- 39:50Speaker 6: they had J Crew catalogs that got delivered to our
- 39:54Speaker 6: entire dorm, and dudes to get the jquketalog and the
- 39:56Speaker 6: others go through and they this is what I want,
- 39:58Speaker 6: and they would tell their mom whatever and they ordered,
- 40:00Speaker 6: and it's like I didn't even know what JA Crew was.
- 40:03Speaker 6: Like literally, I had one pair of jeans and had
- 40:04Speaker 6: my mom got me this horrendous LLBean parka green Llllbean Parker,
- 40:10Speaker 6: and that was like my warm my winter coat, and
- 40:12Speaker 6: I anytime it was below fifty. You talked about Madison
- 40:16Speaker 6: and weather, but people don't know about being by the lake,
- 40:19Speaker 6: especially on the other side of Lake Michigan. Is it's
- 40:22Speaker 6: not just lake effect snow. You get lake effect overcast weather.
- 40:27Speaker 6: So I mean, I remember not seeing the sun for
- 40:33Speaker 6: the entire month of November, like literally the sun never
- 40:36Speaker 6: came out late October, November and in December and then
- 40:39Speaker 6: it got cold and snowy and it really kind of
- 40:42Speaker 6: affected you mentally.
- 40:43Speaker 5: So that's the part of that side of it.
- 40:47Speaker 1: That's why I didn't play football in the Big Ten. Oh,
- 40:48Speaker 1: that's it, because it was just too cold for me.
- 40:50Speaker 1: I just didn't feel like for me, that was you know,
- 40:53Speaker 1: the ingredients weren't there. So, speaking of football, a couple
- 40:57Speaker 1: things here, because I listened to you and you have
- 41:00Speaker 1: no fear, which I admire in just giving your opinion
- 41:05Speaker 1: and if you're wrong, going hey, you know way back then,
- 41:08Speaker 1: that's kind of wrong. But so I like that because
- 41:10Speaker 1: sometimes I struggle with saying I'm wrong. I just forget
- 41:12Speaker 1: ever said it. I'm like, no, never heard of it.
- 41:14Speaker 1: So let's talk for a second about c J.
- 41:16Speaker 2: Stroud. Now, what did you think of c J.
- 41:19Speaker 1: Stroud when he when he was drafted by the Texans,
- 41:22Speaker 1: and then what do you think.
- 41:23Speaker 3: Of him now? And what's the difference in your mind
- 41:26Speaker 3: on what he can do his ceiling?
- 41:28Speaker 6: Okay, so we all carry like biases right against guys,
- 41:34Speaker 6: and the problem is you went to Ohio State, and
- 41:37Speaker 6: how many Ohio State quarterbacks have we seen that they're
- 41:41Speaker 6: throwing the guys who are wide open?
- 41:42Speaker 5: You know? So like how much skill does it take
- 41:44Speaker 5: when you have It's like.
- 41:46Speaker 6: The old back when USC was rolling and Carson Palmer
- 41:50Speaker 6: was great, Matt Leonard wasn't a good college, wasn't a
- 41:53Speaker 6: great pro quarterback. Why because like in the pros, you've
- 41:56Speaker 6: got to throw guys over you don't have better players
- 41:58Speaker 6: than everybody else. So I think part of the CJ.
- 42:01Speaker 6: Stroud thing was like the quarterback. The two quarterbacks before
- 42:05Speaker 6: him had both put up ridiculous numbers and weren't good pros,
- 42:09Speaker 6: and you're watching a guy he didn't move around a
- 42:11Speaker 6: ton and he was just kind of okay, again based
- 42:16Speaker 6: upon the billing last year. Meanwhile, Bryce Young I saw
- 42:20Speaker 6: playing high school. I live close to modern day. I
- 42:22Speaker 6: have friends that are there, And he's always been seen
- 42:24Speaker 6: as this like quarterbacks savant, can read defenses, can move
- 42:28Speaker 6: around and throw, and he's tiny. He's he's by NFL standards,
- 42:33Speaker 6: he's an oompalloomba. You know, he's not part of the
- 42:35Speaker 6: lollipop lollipop game.
- 42:37Speaker 5: And I thought, okay, well, outside of him being small,
- 42:40Speaker 5: and there's been small guys Russell Wilson, Kyler, Murray, Drew Brees,
- 42:44Speaker 5: maybe he can do it because he has all these
- 42:45Speaker 5: other things, whereas c J. Stroud is bigger, stronger, But like,
- 42:49Speaker 5: does he move that well? Is he really that good?
- 42:51Speaker 6: Is it just that Ohio State has way better players
- 42:54Speaker 6: than everybody else's. Ohio State has this like it's like Alabama.
- 42:57Speaker 5: They have all these great wide receivers and they're just
- 42:59Speaker 5: better than nine of the ten opponents they play.
- 43:01Speaker 6: So I carried that against him and I was like,
- 43:03Speaker 6: I don't get it. I don't see him being star.
- 43:06Speaker 6: What's his ceiling? I mean, I don't know if he
- 43:09Speaker 6: can be a superstar. But you can't do anything in
- 43:13Speaker 6: the NFL unless you have a dude back there, a
- 43:16Speaker 6: guy you can count on, a guy that can play,
- 43:18Speaker 6: can deliver the mail. He doesn't have to be Aaron Rodgers,
- 43:22Speaker 6: he doesn't have to be Pat Mahomes. But he can't
- 43:25Speaker 6: be one of these guys that stinks. He can't be
- 43:27Speaker 6: Zach Wilson. He can't be a guy that And then
- 43:30Speaker 6: the real magic to building a team in the NFL
- 43:32Speaker 6: is you got to do it during year two, three,
- 43:34Speaker 6: and four of their rookie contract because they don't make
- 43:36Speaker 6: much money, and then you can build a whole roster
- 43:39Speaker 6: around them.
- 43:40Speaker 5: Houston has that.
- 43:41Speaker 6: So that's where I do two things though, Bobby, I
- 43:44Speaker 6: want to make sure I point this out. I will
- 43:45Speaker 6: say that I'm wrong, but I also don't hate saying
- 43:48Speaker 6: when I was right, You know, everybody's like.
- 43:52Speaker 5: You know, I don't want to be that guy.
- 43:54Speaker 1: No.
- 43:55Speaker 5: I like being that guy. I really like being that
- 43:56Speaker 5: guy that says yet no, I like to say I
- 43:58Speaker 5: told you so what about? That's why it works for me.
- 44:01Speaker 1: The situation in Michigan right now, is this going to
- 44:03Speaker 1: get worse before it gets better? Or will we just
- 44:05Speaker 1: look back at this and laugh in three years.
- 44:07Speaker 5: I think we'll look back and laugh three years. It's stupid, stupid,
- 44:13Speaker 5: you know, I mean, look, was there Hubris?
- 44:16Speaker 6: Is that why they sent some ex marine out on
- 44:19Speaker 6: the road to go and yeah, and like he put
- 44:22Speaker 6: everything under his own name, like they weren't even trying
- 44:24Speaker 6: to hide it. But like this idea of advanced scouting.
- 44:30Speaker 6: I mean, I don't know if you know this story.
- 44:32Speaker 6: Mike Leach, late Mike Leech, who of course was a
- 44:35Speaker 6: Mississippi State, Washington State, and Texas Tech.
- 44:38Speaker 5: There's a story you can google and see it online.
- 44:41Speaker 6: He was the offensive coordinator at Oklahoma Bob Stoops's first
- 44:44Speaker 6: year nineteen ninety nine two thousand and they beat Texas
- 44:46Speaker 6: and the famous story was they left a scatter report
- 44:50Speaker 6: mistakenly on the field at the Cotton Bowl before the game.
- 44:55Speaker 6: And then they knew Texas thought things were coming and
- 44:58Speaker 6: they did the opposite. Right, this stuff's been happening. Like
- 45:01Speaker 6: I played football growing up, and I remember like we
- 45:05Speaker 6: used to line up with our backs to the other
- 45:08Speaker 6: team in case they were spying on us.
- 45:10Speaker 5: High school football teams think somebody's spying them. So everybody
- 45:14Speaker 5: assumes somebody's looking and trying to find your signals. You know,
- 45:18Speaker 5: basketball teams they use copy or they go to a
- 45:21Speaker 5: tournament and they find your hand signals in your calls.
- 45:24Speaker 5: They wouldn't have three different signs and guys you know,
- 45:28Speaker 5: you know, doing the Larry Moe and Curly if they
- 45:30Speaker 5: didn't think somebody was sicking. I just I think part
- 45:34Speaker 5: of it is people don't really like Harball. Part of
- 45:37Speaker 5: it is there is some a ton of arrogance there
- 45:40Speaker 5: with Michigan. And part of it is like we've crept
- 45:43Speaker 5: in this era now where everybody has a cell phone,
- 45:46Speaker 5: so there's no real secrets, right, and we knew this
- 45:52Speaker 5: was going on, and there's counterintelligence going on as well.
- 45:57Speaker 5: It looks bad.
- 45:59Speaker 6: They're holding hard out and I'm only interested in what
- 46:02Speaker 6: happens against Ohio State if that somehow changes the tenor
- 46:06Speaker 6: of the game. I don't think he makes play calls.
- 46:08Speaker 6: I don't think he does a ton game day outside
- 46:11Speaker 6: of that one decision.
- 46:12Speaker 5: Do we go for it?
- 46:13Speaker 2: Do we not go for it?
- 46:14Speaker 5: Do we punt here? Do we go for it?
- 46:16Speaker 6: You know, like the last and final word you're missing
- 46:19Speaker 6: and the adjustments at halftime for a guy who you
- 46:21Speaker 6: know played at every level and played well and then
- 46:24Speaker 6: has coached at every level and coached well. So I
- 46:26Speaker 6: think those things you are missing. But yeah, we're gonna
- 46:30Speaker 6: look back and go really, you know, it's like you
- 46:33Speaker 6: know this, the SEC was buying kids long before nil,
- 46:37Speaker 6: Like that's the best advantage you can have, have better
- 46:39Speaker 6: players than the other team, whereas the Big ten, like
- 46:42Speaker 6: this is cheating.
- 46:44Speaker 5: The SEC has to be laughing at the Big Ten.
- 46:46Speaker 1: The Doug Gotlieb Show on Fox Sports Radio Monday through
- 46:48Speaker 1: Friday three to five Eastern and All Ball with Doug

- 47:18Speaker 1: I have to fly to Dallas because I'm going to
- 47:21Speaker 1: I'm not the host of the ACMs, but I'm like
- 47:23Speaker 1: the junior varsity host. There's like two or you ever
- 47:26Speaker 1: see Stranger Things, where it'll be like the same place,
- 47:29Speaker 1: but on each side of it. That's like reebuny on
- 47:31Speaker 1: the side that wall upside down. Yeah, I'm in the
- 47:33Speaker 1: upside down.
- 47:35Speaker 3: You know.
- 47:35Speaker 1: I'm backstage the whole time talking with people and they
- 47:38Speaker 1: just throw to me constantly.
- 47:39Speaker 2: That's cool. So yeah, I'm in the cool You get
- 47:43Speaker 2: to hang out with people and you're not like in
- 47:44Speaker 2: the formal area. You're backstage.
- 47:46Speaker 1: Yeah it's nicecause I don't want to be with anybody, right.
- 47:48Speaker 2: Hey, and so I thought about this instead of signing
- 47:51Speaker 2: a card or anything.
- 47:52Speaker 3: Like that, I'm not getting the Cowboys hold it. I
- 47:55Speaker 3: don't even know there'll be any there, but if.
- 47:56Speaker 2: That maybe Cooper bebe will be there, dude, you know,
- 47:59Speaker 2: like you got col You're and frist I go to
- 48:00Speaker 2: Cooper and be like, what U buddy, because that's our
- 48:02Speaker 2: Kansas state guy for sure? Can you just do a
- 48:04Speaker 2: video real quick, like, hey, Dak dactor was my buddy Eddy?
- 48:06Speaker 2: Just say what's up? Okay?
- 48:07Speaker 3: If it is not completely weird?
- 48:09Speaker 2: Okay, I would do that, okay, but I.
- 48:11Speaker 1: Never want to be like I'm the extreme superfan that
- 48:14Speaker 1: makes it uncomfortable for them to be around me.
- 48:15Speaker 2: But you can blame it on me.
- 48:17Speaker 3: I can't.
- 48:18Speaker 2: Buddy, Eddy's freaking man.
- 48:20Speaker 1: Man, my buddy, Bobby. He wants you to say this.
- 48:21Speaker 1: He's dying your buddy, Bobby. But your name's Bobby.
- 48:25Speaker 4: It's another Bobby as a friend of mine, Bobby.
- 48:28Speaker 3: Okay.
- 48:28Speaker 1: My final thoughts are, I'm off to Dallas. I'll look
- 48:30Speaker 1: for the Cowboys. They can't w BA fun to watch.
- 48:33Speaker 1: I'll watch another game with Kaitlyn Clark. Yeah, it's goodbe
- 48:37Speaker 1: haters of Kaitlin Clark.
- 48:37Speaker 2: That's what I'll leave with you now. My Timberwolves are
- 48:39Speaker 2: letting me down.
- 48:40Speaker 1: Oh my god, I forgot to mention that they lost again.
- 48:42Speaker 1: Lots of time yep, let's go. No, no, I told
- 48:46Speaker 1: you guys they were done. Oh too, that was the
- 48:47Speaker 1: one team I would have bet Denver. I bet them
- 48:50Speaker 1: one hundred bucks for seventeen.
- 48:51Speaker 2: Hundred going on also too on some of the games.
- 48:54Speaker 3: Oh it sucks for you, dude, I'm sorry.
- 48:56Speaker 2: That's okay. Listen the Pacers. I think it's so funny,
- 48:59Speaker 2: is the dude.
- 48:59Speaker 3: They they're trying to fight.
- 49:00Speaker 2: They want to fight the whole game. And my favorite
- 49:02Speaker 2: thing is remember that girl coach Kevin the assistant.
- 49:06Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, we saw Yeah.
- 49:09Speaker 2: She gets in the middle of every fight, and it's
- 49:11Speaker 2: so fun to see the big guys go I'm gonna
- 49:14Speaker 2: kill you, and then the coach gets annoys all right,
- 49:15Speaker 2: I'll settle down. It's like the mom getting in the middle. Yeah, guy,
- 49:19Speaker 2: I love it.
- 49:20Speaker 1: My cash out so I bet one hundred bucks on
- 49:22Speaker 1: the Nuggets when they were down two to win the
- 49:24Speaker 1: whole thing. One hundred bucks, win seventeen hundred. My cash
- 49:28Speaker 1: out's four hundred right now, cash out, man, I'm not
- 49:31Speaker 1: kidding it.
- 49:32Speaker 2: He no like cashing out.
- 49:33Speaker 3: It could all change.
- 49:34Speaker 1: Do you see the guy that had bet the parlay
- 49:36Speaker 1: It was like the Chiefs. Something in the Thunder and
- 49:40Speaker 1: when they went down one two two one, I think
- 49:45Speaker 1: he cashed out.
- 49:46Speaker 2: What was the what was the cash out? At one
- 49:49Speaker 2: point I already won that.
- 49:50Speaker 3: At one point I saw it.
- 49:51Speaker 1: It was like almost two hundred thousand dollars. Wow for
- 49:54Speaker 1: one point seven million if Oklahoma City Thunder wins it.
- 49:56Speaker 1: But then they lost, went down one two, it got
- 49:58Speaker 1: downe to like eighty grand. He's like, I'm cashing out. Yeah,
- 50:00Speaker 1: but then they won again, and I was kicking himself. Okay,
- 50:04Speaker 1: Eddie good Kevin.
- 50:05Speaker 4: Celtics got to close it out.
- 50:06Speaker 2: Yeah they will, good luck, Yeah, they will. Hope the wait, wait,
- 50:10Speaker 2: Celtics or Celtics.
- 50:11Speaker 4: The Ladies, Yeah, the lady, not the lady Celtics, the Celtics,
- 50:15Speaker 4: the Boston Celtics. Jason Tatum, let's kill.
- 50:18Speaker 2: I hope they.
- 50:18Speaker 1: Close it out because I don't want them to bring
- 50:20Speaker 1: Porzingis back until he's fully healthy. And they're not gonna
- 50:24Speaker 1: rush it back if they don't have to. So I
- 50:26Speaker 1: hope they close it out. And it's gonna be fun
- 50:28Speaker 1: to watch Boston and New York play each other.
- 50:30Speaker 4: Oh, that's gonna be a wild one.
- 50:31Speaker 3: That's just gonna be and be scrappy.
- 50:34Speaker 2: Oh yeah, New.
- 50:35Speaker 4: York's gonna riot.
- 50:36Speaker 3: Indiana is still in the mix.
- 50:38Speaker 2: Yeah, but but I know it's not good.
- 50:40Speaker 1: And also go razorback softball. The plan this week cool
- 50:44Speaker 1: the regional tournament. We need to win the whole tournament.
- 50:46Speaker 2: That's it.
- 50:46Speaker 3: We'll see you guys soon. Thank you for listening to
- 50:47Speaker 3: twenty five whistles.
- 50:50Speaker 2: That's a good one man. Thank you all right, by everybody,
