- 2:53the Brief. Sacramento County is expanding a program
- 2:56aimed at lowering the cost of building affordable
- 2:59housing. The Board of Supervisors approved an
- 3:02expansion of the county's three -year development
- 3:04impact fee offset pilot program. It allows eligible
- 3:09affordable housing projects to receive up to
- 3:12$10 ,000 per unit to offset certain development
- 3:16fees. So far, four projects totaling 435 affordable
- 3:20housing units have been approved for about $2
- 3:24.16 million in offset fees. That leaves roughly
- 3:29$2 .84 million available from the original $5
- 3:35million fund. The latest expansion adds eligible
- 3:38fees in Carmichael, Mission Oaks, and a portion
- 3:41of Sunrise Recreation and Park District. The
- 3:45park district won't lose funding. Instead, the
- 3:48county uses money already allocated for affordable
- 3:50housing programs to cover qualifying fees. The
- 3:53goal is to lower upfront construction costs and
- 3:56help more affordable housing projects move forward.
