- 3:18We have seen your glory, God, and we desire more.
- 3:22So we're coming here today, Father, to learn about you.
- 3:27Not just to learn about you, but to obey the scriptures.
- 3:31God. Mark us with your grace.
- 3:34Mark us with your glory. Mark us with your love.
- 3:38Mark us God, as servants of you, the Most High God, As we see
- 3:44you, we see you rightly. Thank you, Jesus.
- 3:48Holy Spirit, teach us. I decrease as you increase.
- 3:51Holy Spirit, you come in, You be the teacher, you be the guide.
- 3:56Yes, hide me and hide my words, and let us hide your words in
- 4:01our hearts so that we might not sin against you.
- 4:04We love you, King Jesus. It's in your holy and precious
- 4:08name that we pray. Amen.
- 4:11Let's start in verse one, the beginning of the gospel of Jesus
- 4:19Christ, the Son of God. Well, here we are, the gospel of
- 4:26Mark. Who is this Mark character?
- 4:29Well, a lot of scholars believe that this is Peter recounting
- 4:37all of his adventures with Jesus to John Mark.
- 4:41And he is mentioned in Luke, He is mentioned in Acts and you can
- 4:49see that he was a son of one of the Marys who followed Jesus
- 4:55around. Perhaps he was just a youth
- 4:57whenever Jesus was alive before he ascended to the right hand of
- 5:02the Father. And here old Ruff Peter, perhaps
- 5:10a fisherman who wasn't very good with a pen.
- 5:15At this time he is recounting all of his wild tales to old
- 5:21John Mark, and John Mark is pinning them down.
- 5:25Let's see what John Mark wants us to know about Jesus.
- 5:30The good news of Jesus This is Jesus the Son of God too, as it
- 5:38is written in the prophets. Behold, I send my messenger
- 5:42before your face, which shall prepare the way before you.
- 5:47So another thing you need to know is that John Mark is
- 5:53writing to the Romans and he wants to frame Jesus as a
- 5:59servant. This is the branch of the
- 6:03servant. This is the suffering servant.
- 6:06We're going to see a lot of what Jesus did, less of what he said,
- 6:11and more of all the things that he did.
- 6:13And John Mark wants the Romans here who they did not care about
- 6:20all the background of the Jewish nation.
- 6:23And John Mark wants them to know that Jesus fulfilled all of the
- 6:30requirements that show that He is God.
- 6:35And he wanted the Romans to understand that they were
- 6:38worshipping all these false idols and all these false gods.
- 6:42And they need to put their faith and their trust in the only one
- 6:45true living God who came as a little baby and who lived a
- 6:50perfect, sinless life, and who proved His sonship, proved his
- 6:58deity by all of the many, many, many, many, many miracles, so
- 7:05many that there would not be enough books to contain all the
- 7:08things that Jesus did. That's what John tells us at the
- 7:12end of his Gospel, doesn't it? So let's see what old John Mark
- 7:17wants us to know about Jesus. Verse 3 the voice of one crying
- 7:21in the wilderness. Prepare you the way of the Lord,
- 7:24make his paths straight. So we know that John the Baptist
- 7:31came as a forerunner. We know that he was in the
- 7:34spirit of Elijah. We know that he had the leather
- 7:37belt. We know that he was eating wild
- 7:40honey and locusts. We know that he was a wild man,
- 7:44and here Mark is wanting us to know that he came just as it was
- 7:50prophesied and he was preparing the way for the Lord.
- 7:55He was the bulldozer for Jesus Christ.
- 8:02For John did baptize in the wilderness and preach the
- 8:06baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
- 8:10So here Mark is letting the Romans who would read this know
- 8:15that it is immersion that John the Baptist was known for.
- 8:22He wants the Romans to know that they had to identify themselves
- 8:28with the Jewish nation, that the Gentiles needed to identify
- 8:32themselves. And this is what John the
- 8:35Baptist was telling them is to repent and believe that Jesus
- 8:42Christ is the Lord God and an outward expression of being
- 8:48immersed in water. A public declaration of you
- 8:53saying I follow the Lord Jesus Christ and it's no different for
- 8:57us today, friends. We need to be immersed in water.
- 9:02This idea of sprinkling this would only be for those who are
- 9:07feeble and unable to be immersed.
- 9:11But if we are able, we should be immersed in water, not just
- 9:16sprinkled. And you might take that and
- 9:20counter that with the thief on the cross who was never immersed
- 9:24in water and still was welcomed into paradise.
- 9:28So this is obedience, friends, and if we are able, we should be
- 9:34baptized. That is what Jesus modeled for
- 9:39us, friends. A perfect, sinless man was
- 9:44identified with mankind in his baptism, and that is a model for
- 9:49you and for me. And what happens when you are
- 9:53baptized? You kick the devil in the face
- 9:56and you silence all the accusations of saying that
- 10:00you're not truly saved, saying that you don't really know him
- 10:04and he doesn't truly know you. What happens whenever we
- 10:08rededicate? What happens whenever we break
- 10:10out of our religious stigma that we've been taught our whole
- 10:15lives, and what happens whenever we are baptized is all of those
- 10:22accusations are silenced and it is immediate.
- 10:26Obedience is what God is after, friends.
- 10:29And we obey because of how much love we have for him and the
- 10:33love he has for us. 5 And there went out unto him all the land
- 10:39of Judea, and they of Jerusalem, and we're all baptized of him in
- 10:45the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.
- 10:49That is repentance is it is a having a change of mind.
- 10:56It is turning away from all of your sinful acts.
- 11:02It is confessing that you are a Sinner in need of a Savior.
- 11:08It is going and doing business with the Lord.
- 11:13It is the emptying of yourself so that you can be filled with
- 11:21the Holy Ghost. You can be filled with the
- 11:24Spirit. And that is the proper way to do
- 11:27it. And there is no perfect little
- 11:31Jingle, little perfect little prayer.
- 11:33There's no aisle that we need to walk or being dunked in some
- 11:37water that saves us, friends. It is the emptying of yourself.
- 11:42It is admitting that you need the Savior.
- 11:45It's admitting that Jesus Christ is Lord.
- 11:48It starts with us realizing that we can't save ourselves.
- 11:53It starts with us realizing that our way is broken and that we've
- 12:00tried everything and nothing is adding up and we desperately
- 12:05need a Savior. That's where it all begins,
- 12:08friends. 6 And John was clothed with camel's hair and with the
- 12:15girdle of skin about his loins, and he did eat locust and wild
- 12:19honey. What a wild man.
- 12:23He had the outward dress, the garb of a prophet with the hairy
- 12:29camel's hair, and he had the leather belt girded around his
- 12:35waist. He's eating the wild honey and
- 12:38locust. He broke the norm.
- 12:41And you're going to find out later that they said he was
- 12:45demon possessed. And then you see the Son of Man
- 12:50coming. You see Jesus and he's drinking
- 12:54wine and he is eating and they call him a glutton and a wine
- 12:59Bibber. So either way, they were not
- 13:03satisfied and they just wanted to do their own thing.
- 13:06They were just wanting to make every excuse of why not to
- 13:10believe in the ministry of John the Baptist or in the ministry
- 13:14of Jesus the Christ. 7 And preach, saying these There come
- 13:21one mightier than I after me, the latch of whose shoes I am
- 13:28not worthy to stoop down and unloose.
- 13:32So part of being a disciple was to serve your teacher, just as a
- 13:41slave would serve their master. But one of the lines in the sand
- 13:46is, they said everything except for unloosing their shoe.
- 13:51And here John the Baptist is saying he's relegating to Jesus
- 13:56Christ superiority over masters and teachers.
- 13:59He's saying that he's not even worthy to untie it.
- 14:03So even though in their tradition that they drew the
- 14:07line at untying the shoe, they drew the line at taking off the
- 14:11sandal, they would not do it for their master.
- 14:13They would not do it for their teacher.
- 14:17And so here he's saying I'm not even worthy to do that.
- 14:20So he's showing here in this little speech, He's showing that
- 14:25Jesus Christ is greater than every teacher, that Jesus Christ
- 14:30is greater than every master. He is the Lord of Lords.
- 14:36AI indeed have baptized you with water.
- 14:39He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.
- 14:42Have you been baptized with the Holy Ghost?
- 14:45Friends, do you have the indwellment of the Holy Spirit
- 14:51living inside of you? Do you have the discernment that
- 14:57comes from housing the Holy Ghost?
- 15:02Do you not know that you are the temple of the Lord?
- 15:05Consecrate the temple. Do not grieve the Spirit.
- 15:09Do not sear your conscience. We need to fan the flame,
- 15:17friends. If you have been indwelled with
- 15:21the Spirit, if you have tasted and you have seen that He is
- 15:25good, and then you have turned back to your vomit, you need to
- 15:31go back to your first love. Ask yourself what were you doing
- 15:36when you were the most in love with Jesus Christ?
- 15:38And go back and do those things. Friends, ask the Lord Jesus
- 15:44Christ to come into your life. Ask the Lord Jesus Christ to
- 15:49give you the Holy Spirit. Ask the Lord Jesus Christ to be
- 15:54the boss of your life, to be the master of your life.
- 15:58And start listening to the still small voice.
- 16:02It will guide you. You need to confess of all the
- 16:07sins that you have committed that have seared the conscience.
- 16:11You need to confess those things to him, repent and turn back to
- 16:15Him and allow Him to minister to you and start obeying that still
- 16:19small voice that speaks to you. Start fanning the flame and
- 16:24watch how the Holy Ghost becomes so prevalent in your life and
- 16:28you move in the authority that God desires for you to have the
- 16:35dominion opinion over all of the feelings and emotions and even
- 16:40the material things in your life.
- 16:42Friend, that is what it looks like to be baptized with the
- 16:46Holy Ghost. 9 And it came to pass in those days that Jesus
- 16:53came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized of John and the
- 16:57Jordan. So here, this was Jesus coming,
- 17:02and he's identifying with us. He's he's modeling what it looks
- 17:07like for us. He's showing us how we need to
- 17:11walk with him. And 10 And straightway coming up
- 17:18out of the water, he saw the heavens open and the Spirit like
- 17:22a dove descending upon him. So here we see the Trinity, God
- 17:27the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost all communing
- 17:30together in one moment. And they're celebrating this
- 17:34launch of Jesus's ministry. 11 And there came a voice from
- 17:39heaven saying, you are my beloved son, in whom I am well
- 17:42pleased. This is the voice of God
- 17:46speaking over his creation, speaking over Jesus Christ.
- 17:51This is the dove coming down and resting upon him, the Holy
- 17:55Ghost, all three and one together.
- 17:58We can see at 12. And immediately the Spirit drove
- 18:02him into the wilderness. This was what it looked like for
- 18:09Jesus to come and to take back all the things that Adam had
- 18:15squandered in paradise. Here.
- 18:18We're going to see Jesus going out to this desert.
- 18:21We can see that the Spirit drove him out there. 13 And he was
- 18:27there in the wilderness 40 days, tempted of Satan, and was with
- 18:31the wild beasts, and the angels ministered unto him.
- 18:35He had dominion over the wild beasts there. 14 Now after that
- 18:42John was put in prison. Jesus came into Galilee
- 18:46preaching the gospel of the Kingdom of God.
- 18:49So you can also see in the wilderness that it wasn't just
- 18:53the three times that he was tempted.
- 18:56He was tempted for 40 days, friends.
- 19:00Now he's coming back out of the wilderness.
- 19:03He put his heel on the neck of the serpent, and he, the serpent
- 19:09fled. The serpent ran, and then the
- 19:11angels came and ministered to him. 15 and saying, The time is
- 19:17fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God is at hand.
- 19:20Repent you and believe the gospel.
- 19:22So here Jesus is continuing the ministry of John the Baptist,
- 19:29this ministry of repentance and the remission of sins, and he's
- 19:34showing them that Jesus is on earth and that the Kingdom of
- 19:38God is here. 16 Now as he walked by the Sea of Galilee, he saw
- 19:44Simon and Andrew his brother, casting a net in the sea, for
- 19:48they were fishers. 17 And Jesus said unto them, Come you after
- 19:53me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.
- 19:57What a beautiful verse. We can see this immediate
- 20:02obedience of these brothers. We can see that Jesus is calling
- 20:07them from their profession. And he did not go and find
- 20:12priests. He did not go and find synagogue
- 20:14leaders. He did not go and find the
- 20:17religious people. What did he find?
- 20:20These common folk, these unlearned men. 18 And
- 20:24straightway they forsook their Nets and followed him.
- 20:27That's what it looks like. Immediate obedience, friends. 19
- 20:31And when he had gone a little further from there, he saw
- 20:34James, the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were
- 20:39in the ship mending their Nets. So these were workers.
- 20:43These were not just idle people who like to sit around and talk
- 20:47about all kinds of fables. These were men who actually put
- 20:51their hand to the plow. These were men who were not
- 20:54afraid of getting their hands dirty.
- 20:56And look at how we have relegated all of the
- 20:58spirituality to lazy men who will sit on their behinds.
- 21:03And they think that that's what it looks like to follow after
- 21:06the Lord. And we need to know that the
- 21:08Lord calls us into the work. He calls us into taking hold of
- 21:12the plow. He calls us into wild adventure,
- 21:19friends. Not just sitting on our blessed
- 21:22assurance and looking up to the sky and just hoping and wishing
- 21:28that things will get a little bit worse so that we'll go on
- 21:31home. No, the Lord calls you into the
- 21:33fight, friends. He calls you to charge the hill,
- 21:36friends. He calls you to be violent and
- 21:39take the Kingdom of heaven by force, friends. 20 And
- 21:45straightway he called them, and they left their father Zebedee
- 21:49in the ship with the hired servants and went after him.
- 21:52So these boys, they didn't just abandoned their father.
- 21:57They knew that he had help. Look at how that his father must
- 22:01have been very successful in his venture. 21 And they went into
- 22:08Capernaum, and straightway on the Sabbath day he entered into
- 22:12the synagogue and taught. So here Mark is less concerned,
- 22:17less concerned with the material of his preaching, and he's more
- 22:24concerned with what Jesus actually did. 22 And they were
- 22:30astonished at his doctrine. What doctrine?
- 22:32Well, we know that he says the time is fulfilled and the
- 22:36Kingdom of God is at hand. Repent you and believe the
- 22:41gospel. And they were astonished at his
- 22:44doctrine, for he taught them as one that had authority and not
- 22:48as the scribes. So all the scribes, all they
- 22:51would do is they sit around and talk about what certain rabbi
- 22:55here and rabbi there would say and certain rabbis what they
- 22:59taught. And here Jesus had no use for
- 23:02that. Jesus goes in and tells them
- 23:04that the Kingdom of heaven is at hand and they need to repent and
- 23:08be baptized. And Jesus here is showing that
- 23:12he is God, He is the Son of God, He is the triune God.
- 23:17He's showing them here that he has all authority. 23 And there
- 23:23was in the synagogue a man with an unclean spirit, and he cried
- 23:27out, 24 saying, Let us alone, what have we to do with you?
- 23:32You, Jesus of Nazareth, are you come to destroy us?
- 23:36I know you, who you are, the Holy One of God.
- 23:41So imagine this, these demonic forces in the wilderness trying
- 23:47to tempt Jesus, and he is able to subdue them.
- 23:50He's able to put his heel on their head.
- 23:52He's able to get them to flee. He's able to be completely
- 23:58successful and victorious in the tempting in the wilderness, and
- 24:02they have figured out who he is. He's the Son of God.
- 24:05He's the holy one, and they're trying to foul and they're
- 24:11trying to basically undo his ministry that he came to do, and
- 24:18they're trying to expose him as God here in the synagogue.
- 24:24What is Jesus say? 25 And Jesus rebuked him,
- 24:28saying, Hold your peace and come out of him.
- 24:31He told him to shut up. He told him to be quiet.
- 24:34He told him to come out of him. He had all authority. 26 And
- 24:38when the unclean spirit had torn him and cried with a loud voice,
- 24:43he came out of him. He had no choice but to obey in
- 24:46Jesus name. That is the power, friends, it
- 24:50is in Jesus name. There is no power under heaven
- 24:54that has any more authority than the name of Jesus Christ of
- 24:58Nazareth, Jesus the Messiah, the long-awaited 1, the anointed
- 25:03one, Jesus, Yeshua, I Usus. This is the name that we call
- 25:09upon, friends. It is the only name, is the name
- 25:13above all names, and this is the name that the demonic realm has
- 25:18to obey. There is no power other than
- 25:22Jesus Christ in the entire world.
- 25:25It is Jesus and Jesus and Jesus alone, friends, that we call
- 25:29upon to do the work of God. It is not all these
- 25:32incantations. It's not all of this religious
- 25:38ceremony. It is not all of this magic
- 25:42occult arts. It is not all of the things that
- 25:46people are calling upon that is actually gateways into the
- 25:50demonic. There are people who try to
- 25:54pretend as if they are exorcists, but really it's just
- 25:58a big show. That's all it is.
- 26:00It is easy, friends. It's the name of Jesus Christ
- 26:04that drives out the demons and Jesus here, he's straightway.
- 26:08There's no big long form here. It is just come out of him in
- 26:14the name of Jesus Christ. 26 And when the unclean spirit had torn
- 26:20him, he cried with a loud voice, and came out of him.
- 26:23What a scene. 27 And they were all amazed in so much that they
- 26:28questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this?
- 26:31What new doctrine is this? For What authority commands He,
- 26:35even the unclean spirits? And they do obey him.
- 26:39They were used to seeing all of these teachers come in and
- 26:44perform this big long ceremony with the driving out of the
- 26:49demons and Jesus here, He just relegates it to a very simple
- 26:55command. And that is a word for us today.
- 26:59We do not need to get caught up in the hype of all of this
- 27:05exorcism. We do not need to get caught up
- 27:07in all the hype of it of trying to get the demon to tell us the
- 27:11name so that we can have a handle to try to pull it out.
- 27:14It is just the name of Jesus. The darkness runs, the darkness
- 27:20flees. In that name is the name above
- 27:23all names call upon that name. Friends 28 and immediately his
- 27:27fame spread abroad throughout all the region roundabout
- 27:31Galilee. So here you can see that this is
- 27:35something that the people were not used to.
- 27:38And as soon as he did this work in the synagogue, all of his
- 27:44fame spread throughout the land. 29 And forthwith when they were
- 27:48come out of the synagogue, they entered into the House of Simon
- 27:52and Andrew with James and John. We know that this was Peter's
- 27:56house, but Simon's wife, Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a
- 28:03fever, and Anon they tell him of her.
- 28:06So this was a fever that was very, very bad.
- 28:21And here comes Jesus into the house.
- 28:26Here she lays with this fever, and I don't know if you've ever
- 28:32had a bad fever, but it's not something that you are able to
- 28:38just get over in a moment. It takes recovery.
- 28:42It takes time for you to rest and even after the fever leaves
- 28:47your week. But let's see the power of Jesus
- 28:51Christ as He comes into this house. 31 And he came, and he
- 28:57took her by the hand, and he lifted her up, and immediately
- 29:00the fever left her, and she ministered unto them.
- 29:04Look at how her thankfulness for Jesus healing her, she
- 29:10immediately got up and started ministering to them. 32 And at
- 29:17evening when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that
- 29:20were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils.
- 29:24So here we're seeing that the Sabbath was done because it was
- 29:29evening and the people were free to come and bring all of their
- 29:33sick 33 and all the city was gathered together at the door.
- 29:37This is the fame of Jesus after he healed the man in the
- 29:41synagogue. And here Mark wants the Romans
- 29:44to see that Jesus was a worker, that Jesus wasn't just one who
- 29:54was so incredibly dialed in on the Jews that he actually cared
- 30:05for the whole world. This is what Mark wants the
- 30:09Romans, his audience to know here, friends, and he's showing
- 30:13that the whole city gathered at the door. 34 And he healed many
- 30:18that were sick of all kinds of diseases, and cast out many
- 30:22devils, and suffered. Not the devil's to speak,
- 30:25because they knew him. Of course they knew him.
- 30:28He had all authority over them. 35 And in the morning, rising up
- 30:32a great while before the day, he went out and departed into a
- 30:37solitary place, and there prayed.
- 30:40This is a model for us friends. We need to follow this model of
- 30:43Jesus Christ. Whenever you see Jesus getting
- 30:47up early in the morning before there was even light and he goes
- 30:50out to meet with the Father, we should not even speak to anyone
- 30:54before we speak to the Father. We should not even look at
- 30:57anyone until we look at the Father.
- 31:00Friends 36 and Simon and they that were with him followed
- 31:07after him. So you can see here that the
- 31:10disciples, they were not yet used to Jesus, They were not yet
- 31:14used to how he would go and do business with the Father. 1st
- 31:20And when they found him, 37 says, And when they found him,
- 31:23they said unto him, All men seek for you.
- 31:26So they're saying, look how famous you've become.
- 31:29Isn't this what you want, Jesus? 38 And he said unto them, Let us
- 31:33go into the next towns, that I may preach there also.
- 31:38Therefore came I forth. So he's saying that my ministry
- 31:42is not a miraculous healing ministry.
- 31:45My ministry is to preach. That is what he came to do.
- 31:50Preach the repentance. Preach that the Kingdom is at
- 31:53hand. Preach at the time is fulfilled.
- 31:57Preach for people to repent and believe in the good news. 39 And
- 32:05he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast
- 32:09out devils. 40 And there came a leper to him, begging him, and
- 32:14kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If you will, you can
- 32:18make me clean. 41 And Jesus moved with compassion, put forth
- 32:22his hand, and touched him, and said unto him, I will be you
- 32:26clean. So here Jesus touched the leper.
- 32:34He was not afraid of the leper, and immediately the leper was
- 32:39cleansed. As soon as Jesus touched him, he
- 32:43was cleansed. And this leper had been a leper
- 32:47for a long time, friends. And we know that this leper was
- 32:51in the advanced stages of his leprosy, and he would have been
- 32:55rotten. And this was a picture of the
- 32:58sin. And it was believed that these
- 33:01lepers had leprosy because of their sin, and the people had no
- 33:07regard for them. They were The Walking Dead and
- 33:11they cared nothing. And there was no compassion for
- 33:14leprosy in that place. And there was no real healing
- 33:18for the leprosy in the land. And here Jesus defies all of
- 33:23their traditions. He defies them and shows
- 33:27compassion upon them. He heals the man.
- 33:29He's going to tell him to go and show himself.
- 33:32And there would have been this ceremony that the priest we're
- 33:36not even used to having to perform because there was no one
- 33:41who was getting healed of leprosy.
- 33:43It was only an act of God that could heal somebody of leprosy.
- 33:47And Jesus shows them that he is God. 42 And as soon as he had
- 33:52spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was
- 33:56cleansed. 43 And he straightway charged him, and forthwith sent
- 34:01him away. 44 And said unto him, See you say nothing to any man,
- 34:06but go your way, show yourself to the priest, and offer for
- 34:10your cleansing those things which Moses commanded for a
- 34:13testimony unto them. That's what it was all about.
- 34:16Jesus was showing not only the leper, not only the crowds, not
- 34:20only His disciples, but He was showing even the priest that He
- 34:23was God, that He was the Son of God.
- 34:25Here He is showing as a testimony unto them. 45 will end
- 34:31here. But He went out and began to
- 34:33publish it much and to blaze abroad the matter in so much
- 34:38that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was
- 34:42without in desert places and they came to Him from every
- 34:47quarter. So here we can see it right here
- 34:51at the end of chapter 1. Bam bam, bam bam bam.
- 34:54Mark is just flying through the shortest Gospel.
- 34:58Friends, Mark is flying through all of these highlights.
- 35:03He's highlighting the ministry of Jesus Christ.
- 35:05We're getting to see it in rapid succession, friends.
- 35:09In one chapter, you're getting to see so many different events.
- 35:13And here you can see that because this leper and because
- 35:16this healing of the demon Pontiac, you can see that
- 35:21Jesus's fame has spread so much that he could no longer enter
- 35:25into the cities without being completely overrun with people
- 35:30desirous to be healed. And people just wanted to come
- 35:34and to be fed, and they just wanted to come see the miracle
- 35:37worker. But they had not put two and two
- 35:40together, that he was God Incarnate, walking among them
- 35:45Emmanuel. And here Jesus says foxes have
- 35:51holes and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to
- 35:55lay his head. He's out in the desert.
- 35:57Friends, this suffering servant. We could see this life of Jesus,
- 36:05and it should move us with compassion.
- 36:07We should fall in love with this man.
- 36:10Look at how He loved and He loved well and He wanted nothing
- 36:14more than for us to understand that we need to live in light of
- 36:18eternity. And not to be so earthly minded,
- 36:22but just to know that your little hundred 120 years, you're
- 36:2670 years, 75 years, you're 60 years, you're 80 years.
- 36:31However long the Lord gives us, some people get snuffed out at a
- 36:35young tender age. And we do not know if we're
- 36:38promised tomorrow, but if you have today, and if you woke up
- 36:41this morning, give your life over to Him today.
- 36:44Do not wait. Do not wait for another day.
- 36:49Surrender unto His Lordship. Even if you've given your life
- 36:55to Him in the past, give your life to Him today, friends, and
- 37:02give your life to Him tomorrow. And give your whole life to Him
- 37:06every day, every single day. And that is not to say that we
- 37:13lose our salvation, but we need to make sure that we check
- 37:17ourselves before we wreck ourselves.
- 37:20We do not need to just float along through life thinking that
- 37:23we're eternally secure and then to get there and Jesus says,
- 37:27depart from me, for I never knew you and the door is shut.
- 37:30And there is no more salvation beyond that.
- 37:37Give your life to Him today, friends.
- 37:39Surrender to Him today. Friends.
- 37:43I hope you've been blessed by this first chapter here in Mark.
- 37:49We're going to fly through the ministry of Jesus Christ over
- 37:53the next couple weeks. You're going to get to see all
- 37:59the things that Jesus did highlighted.
- 38:03We're going to see this perfect man, all God and all man walk
- 38:08the earth and to flip the whole world upside down.
- 38:12We're still talking about them today.
- 38:13They're still trying to get rid of them today.
- 38:15You get on any mainstream news channel and you're going to see
- 38:21all of the blaspheming of the Spirit, the blaspheming of God.
- 38:26You're going to see the blaspheming of Jesus.
- 38:29But why they can't get rid of them, Friends, you can't do
- 38:33anything with this man. He's here and it all points to
- 38:37him, everything points to him, and they're just hostile and
- 38:40they try their hardest to believe that there's nothing
- 38:43more beyond it this and that All of their little games that they
- 38:47play is just for fun. And the reality is they're being
- 38:51used by the devil. Let's get in this good book.
- 38:58Let's learn this good book. Let's own this good book.
- 39:02Let's teach this good book. Friends, I'm praying for every
- 39:06single one of you. I love you, so does God.
- 39:15We'll see you back here tomorrow.
- 39:16God bless you.
