- 1:00Speaker 1: I'm Rachel, you could tell. So everyone is obsessed with
- 1:03Speaker 1: Love is Blind on Netflix, and that includes me and
- 1:06Speaker 1: my daughter. We are huge fans, and this season, like
- 1:09Speaker 1: everyone else, we are rooting for today's guest to find love.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Izzy Zapata emerged as a standout amongst this year's cast.
- 1:17Speaker 1: He was genuine, open, and I think we can all agree, emotional.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Izzy's journey might not have ended the way he originally planned,
- 1:23Speaker 1: but he has no hard feelings. He still believes in
- 1:26Speaker 1: the experiment that is Love is Blind. He gave us
- 1:29Speaker 1: the inside scoop on what we didn't see on camera,
- 1:31Speaker 1: his private conversations with producers, and what he really thinks
- 1:35Speaker 1: about the whole Lydia Uche connection. We also discuss his
- 1:38Speaker 1: new girlfriend and the fact that they got matching tattoos.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Izzy loved his experience on the show, and we loved
- 1:46Speaker 1: talking about it. So sit back and listen to Izzy Zapata.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Hey, Izzy.
- 2:22Speaker 1: I'm so happy that you're here with us on Misunderstood today.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Welcome to the show.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Thank you. Thank you for having me.
- 2:28Speaker 1: So, all right. Season five is over of Love is Blind.
- 2:33Speaker 1: The reunion is over. I just quickly want to touch
- 2:37Speaker 1: on how you even got cast on the show.
- 2:40Speaker 2: It was crazy. I actually didn't even apply for it.
- 2:43Speaker 2: I was working out on my lunch break one day
- 2:46Speaker 2: and I had got like a phone call from an
- 2:49Speaker 2: LA number. I immediately ignored it. I thought it was
- 2:52Speaker 2: like a telemarketer. They called immediately right after that. I
- 2:55Speaker 2: ignored it again. Then I got a text message like, hey,
- 2:58Speaker 2: this is so-and-so, you know, casting producer for a show
- 3:03Speaker 2: called Love is Blind. I don't know if you've heard
- 3:04Speaker 2: of it, but we'd love to, you know, do you
- 3:06Speaker 2: have 15 minutes to chat? So I was like, no way.
- 3:08Speaker 2: This is Totally a scam. And so I was like,
- 3:12Speaker 2: you know what, let's see, why not? So I call
- 3:16Speaker 2: and yeah, sure enough, it was, this lady was casting
- 3:19Speaker 2: and she was like, add me on Instagram right now
- 3:21Speaker 2: so you can see I'm real. Added her and she
- 3:24Speaker 2: was like, yeah, I would love to, you know, do
- 3:26Speaker 2: like a recorded, you know, audition for you and yeah. Yeah,
- 3:30Speaker 2: the rest was history from there. I went along. I
- 3:32Speaker 2: honestly didn't even think I was going to make the show.
- 3:35Speaker 1: What was the audition process like? Like how many people
- 3:38Speaker 1: do you think they were choosing between and then you
- 3:40Speaker 1: kind of beat them out?
- 3:43Speaker 2: I mean, it's huge. I mean, I really don't even
- 3:46Speaker 2: know the number, but I know I started back in
- 3:49Speaker 2: like September of 2021. And we weren't even leaving to
- 3:53Speaker 2: film till April. And even then, they didn't even give
- 3:56Speaker 2: me the green light until probably about like three weeks
- 3:59Speaker 2: before we were about to leave out for filming. And
- 4:02Speaker 2: the only reason I knew, I kind of had an
- 4:03Speaker 2: idea that I was going to be on the show
- 4:05Speaker 2: because I never had a passport. And I called them.
- 4:08Speaker 2: I was like, hey, you know, I've done everything, but
- 4:12Speaker 2: I honestly don't think you guys are going to have my,
- 4:14Speaker 2: I'm not going to get my passport in time. um
- 4:17Speaker 2: they're like oh don't worry about it like just go
- 4:20Speaker 2: ahead go with the picture and sure enough i ended
- 4:22Speaker 2: up having my passport in like two or three days
- 4:25Speaker 2: and so i was like all right they didn't go
- 4:27Speaker 2: out of their way for me to get it expedited
- 4:28Speaker 2: this fast for no reason so yeah and then i
- 4:31Speaker 2: want to say about two days after that three days
- 4:32Speaker 2: after that i got my welcome letter and an email
- 4:34Speaker 2: and yeah.
- 4:37Speaker 1: So had you seen the show before did you know
- 4:40Speaker 1: what you were getting yourself.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Into Yeah, I've seen about like two seasons. I want
- 4:44Speaker 2: to say the first two seasons before. So once I
- 4:47Speaker 2: actually was getting, you know, through the process of casting
- 4:49Speaker 2: and all that, that's when I really started watching the
- 4:51Speaker 2: rest of them. So yeah, I definitely knew what I
- 4:54Speaker 2: was getting in for.
- 4:56Speaker 1: And what was your mindset going into the show? Like,
- 4:59Speaker 1: were you ready to get married? The reason why I
- 5:02Speaker 1: ask you that is because I mean, it's an obvious question,
- 5:04Speaker 1: but I want to phrase it like this. Like, A
- 5:07Speaker 1: lot of people are fed up or tired at a
- 5:10Speaker 1: certain point because they've dated so much and it hasn't
- 5:13Speaker 1: worked out. And they're like, I'll do anything now. I'll
- 5:15Speaker 1: try something new because it hasn't worked. Like I'm 48
- 5:20Speaker 1: and I'm still single.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Right.
- 5:21Speaker 1: And I'm tired and I want to know where he is. Like,
- 5:24Speaker 1: where's the guy?
- 5:25Speaker 3: Right.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Like for me, I would do a show like that
- 5:28Speaker 1: because I'm tired already. of like all the other attempts
- 5:32Speaker 1: I've made that haven't worked. So that seems reasonable that
- 5:35Speaker 1: I could find love. But where were you in your
- 5:37Speaker 1: mind up until that point?
- 5:40Speaker 2: So I actually had been engaged once when I was
- 5:43Speaker 2: like 26. And then that failed. She ended up cheating
- 5:47Speaker 2: on me. So marriage for me is like a dream.
- 5:50Speaker 2: You know, when I date, I date with intent. So
- 5:54Speaker 2: I had about two years after that to do a
- 5:57Speaker 2: lot of self-work. I even did premarital counseling. But my
- 6:01Speaker 2: dating perspective had changed to where I became a lot
- 6:05Speaker 2: more direct. So I hopped on dating apps and things
- 6:07Speaker 2: like that. But I just came like more direct when
- 6:10Speaker 2: I would go out with dates with girls. Like as
- 6:13Speaker 2: a first date, I'm like, you know, yeah, I can
- 6:15Speaker 2: do the surface level questions, but I'm diving deep into
- 6:18Speaker 2: like your relationship history. And, you know, like the things
- 6:22Speaker 2: that you've gone through, your trauma through relationships, what you
- 6:24Speaker 2: need out of a relationship. Are you even looking for
- 6:27Speaker 2: a serious relationship or is it just casual relationships? And
- 6:31Speaker 2: for some girls that can like really scare them off
- 6:33Speaker 2: to be, because nobody wants to just commit nowadays. That's
- 6:37Speaker 2: the biggest thing I've noticed in the dating world. Nobody
- 6:39Speaker 2: wants to commit. They want the luxury of having that
- 6:41Speaker 2: person around and, you know, the benefits of, you know,
- 6:45Speaker 2: sex or having, you know, just having somebody there. And
- 6:49Speaker 2: I'm looking to kind of get straight more to the point.
- 6:51Speaker 2: And so having the show pop up as an opportunity is,
- 6:56Speaker 2: I was kind of torn between two. I was like, ah,
- 6:59Speaker 2: it's a TV show. You see it. Like, is it real?
- 7:01Speaker 2: That's what everyone always thinks. Like, ah, is it real?
- 7:04Speaker 2: Is it scripted? But then the other half of me
- 7:06Speaker 2: was like, this is really cool because you take away
- 7:09Speaker 2: all the superficial stuff and every single person that's there
- 7:14Speaker 2: is dating with the end goal of marriage. So it's
- 7:17Speaker 2: perfect for me, who's someone who's very direct and to
- 7:19Speaker 2: the point. So I was definitely ready for it. Right.
- 7:22Speaker 1: So the first day here, you go in and you
- 7:25Speaker 1: get to meet all 15 or however many women kind
- 7:29Speaker 1: of briefly.
- 7:29Speaker 3: Right.
- 7:30Speaker 1: And then you have to kind of narrow it down
- 7:32Speaker 1: right off the bat to eight or something like that.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:36Speaker 2: It's like eight the next day, six. And it keeps
- 7:38Speaker 2: going as the days go.
- 7:39Speaker 1: From the very beginning, did you know you had a
- 7:42Speaker 1: connection with both Johnny and Stacey? Because that's who we
- 7:46Speaker 1: saw your biggest connections with.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Was there someone else? So day one, immediately, Johnny was
- 7:51Speaker 2: my third date of the day. And immediately when I went,
- 7:55Speaker 2: I was like, yeah, you're my number one. She was
- 7:58Speaker 2: locked in. I dated all the girls. It was crazy
- 8:01Speaker 2: because Stacey at the end of that day, like I
- 8:04Speaker 2: talked to her, she was cool. But I think she
- 8:06Speaker 2: was like my number eight that day. And I was like, oh,
- 8:08Speaker 2: you know, she's cool. But if I don't talk to
- 8:10Speaker 2: her again, like no big deal. But I knew immediately Johnny,
- 8:14Speaker 2: she was my connection, like the very first one and
- 8:17Speaker 2: was a standout for sure.
- 8:20Speaker 1: And so we all kind of have seen the show.
- 8:23Speaker 1: I mean, obviously you're here and people are listening because
- 8:25Speaker 1: I've seen it. So I don't want to recap the
- 8:26Speaker 1: whole thing. But when you got to that point that
- 8:30Speaker 1: you had to choose between the two, looking back now,
- 8:34Speaker 1: what would you say is the reason that you chose Stacey?
- 8:39Speaker 1: Were you following patterns? Was it something more aloof about her,
- 8:43Speaker 1: sexy about her? I mean, what was it for you?
- 8:46Speaker 2: So this is, and this is what's crazy, what comes
- 8:48Speaker 2: with the edit and which I wish they would have
- 8:50Speaker 2: showed more of. When you see Stacey and I's interactions,
- 8:54Speaker 2: it looks very surface level and fun and flirty and
- 8:58Speaker 2: stuff like that. But no one ever really got to
- 9:01Speaker 2: see how that connection developed on a deeper level versus
- 9:05Speaker 2: what you see with Johnny. It's all deep, you know?
- 9:08Speaker 2: And so what it was for me when I, What
- 9:13Speaker 2: it did is, like, Stacy just kept surprising me every day.
- 9:16Speaker 2: And it kept getting stronger and stronger. So it was
- 9:18Speaker 2: really fun, but she would have trouble being vulnerable. So
- 9:22Speaker 2: once I got those walls to fall, it was like
- 9:26Speaker 2: the fireworks just went off, and it became more of
- 9:28Speaker 2: a well-rounded. That was the only thing missing. Versus, like,
- 9:32Speaker 2: with Johnny, it was just very, you know, just deep
- 9:35Speaker 2: all the time, which is nice and I love, but.
- 9:38Speaker 3: They think you're done for the day, but they don't
- 9:42Speaker 3: know about the drawers. The drawer. Just the one square
- 9:47Speaker 3: before bed. Or two, you know. Nobody's watching. You deserve
- 9:54Speaker 3: a treat. With eight flavors to choose from. you can
- 10:00Speaker 3: choose the flavor you favor with Cadbury Dairy Milk.
- 10:09Speaker 2: There was never, you know, those fun, you know, moments
- 10:12Speaker 2: in there. You're, you know, anything like that. But what
- 10:16Speaker 2: did it for me... obviously Stacey's vulnerable side came out.
- 10:20Speaker 2: So that made more sense. And then when it came
- 10:22Speaker 2: to Johnny, you know, she would tell me she was
- 10:25Speaker 2: in love with me so many times, but never really
- 10:26Speaker 2: gave me a reason why. So it was just like,
- 10:28Speaker 2: I don't know why, but I just am. So I
- 10:30Speaker 2: was like, it doesn't make sense. And then what really
- 10:34Speaker 2: just kind of did it for me was, and a
- 10:37Speaker 2: lot of people think is when she put that, like
- 10:41Speaker 2: told me their trauma about her ex who was an
- 10:43Speaker 2: addict and passed away, people thought I got scared of
- 10:45Speaker 2: it and ran away. But what happened was, you know,
- 10:48Speaker 2: she told me she had that and she'd never been
- 10:51Speaker 2: in love since. And she used her, she had ended
- 10:54Speaker 2: up getting married and she pretty much told me she
- 10:57Speaker 2: used them as a rebound and ended up divorcing them
- 11:00Speaker 2: about a couple of years down the road because she
- 11:02Speaker 2: wasn't in love with them. So for me, that raised
- 11:04Speaker 2: a red flag because she said she's never been in
- 11:07Speaker 2: love with somebody other than her ex that passed. So
- 11:10Speaker 2: it's like, I don't want to risk my heart because
- 11:12Speaker 2: how do I know you're not going to do that
- 11:14Speaker 2: to me? And then on the top of that, you're
- 11:16Speaker 2: telling me that you love me, but you don't know why.
- 11:18Speaker 1: I get that. I mean, listen, as somebody who was
- 11:22Speaker 1: watching it back, you know, I feel like for her,
- 11:26Speaker 1: she really was... not that she's a love addict, but
- 11:29Speaker 1: like she really wanted to find someone.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Right.
- 11:31Speaker 1: She, she was kind of pushing it when it didn't
- 11:33Speaker 1: work with you. She went back to Chris or whatever.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Right.
- 11:35Speaker 1: So I feel like she really wanted to find that person,
- 11:40Speaker 1: wanted to pick someone who was going to pick her.
- 11:42Speaker 1: And that was, that was pretty evident, but you know,
- 11:46Speaker 1: I will say, trauma hits people differently. I've dealt with
- 11:50Speaker 1: trauma in my past and I got married soon after
- 11:53Speaker 1: I did something very similar. And, you know, you, you
- 11:57Speaker 1: just to stick up for her for two seconds, I
- 11:58Speaker 1: will say that when something like that happens, you feel
- 12:02Speaker 1: like you just want something to stay. You asking for
- 12:09Speaker 1: a love story is like kind of unfathomable at that point,
- 12:12Speaker 1: because you've just gone through so much trauma. So I
- 12:15Speaker 1: got married to somebody after my fiance was killed and
- 12:18Speaker 1: regretted it. And within a year was divorced, but I
- 12:21Speaker 1: wanted to make it work, but my head was ready
- 12:24Speaker 1: to marry someone else. You All right. So I'm curious
- 12:31Speaker 1: about what the restrictions are from the time the show
- 12:34Speaker 1: wraps to the reunion, because we know that you saw
- 12:36Speaker 1: the cast. We know you've developed a girlfriend since, but like,
- 12:40Speaker 1: how does that work? I'm so confused because are you
- 12:43Speaker 1: telling people you've been on the show? Do you sign
- 12:45Speaker 1: something that says you can't be on the show? I mean,
- 12:47Speaker 1: how does that work?
- 12:49Speaker 2: Um, so obviously, you know, we're on a contract. We're
- 12:51Speaker 2: not supposed to disclose any of that information. So I
- 12:54Speaker 2: really didn't disclose anything to anybody. Um, other than obviously
- 13:00Speaker 2: my friends who were there at my wedding and a
- 13:03Speaker 2: few of my guests, you know, obviously they knew. Um,
- 13:06Speaker 2: but I really didn't reach a point to where I
- 13:09Speaker 2: was close to anybody close enough to be dating on
- 13:12Speaker 2: a very serious level until the current girlfriend that I
- 13:15Speaker 2: have right now. Um, so yeah. And, and obviously I
- 13:19Speaker 2: ran into that, you know, at the state when Stacey
- 13:22Speaker 2: had a cooking class, I really had to tell her then,
- 13:25Speaker 2: you know what I mean?
- 13:26Speaker 1: So, um, Are you saying at that point, she didn't
- 13:29Speaker 1: really know the details of how she was an ex
- 13:32Speaker 1: and an ex-fiance? She didn't know it was for Michelle?
- 13:34Speaker 2: So she knew kind of like, you know, we were
- 13:37Speaker 2: getting serious and going with like dating with intent in here.
- 13:40Speaker 2: So I just kind of wanted to let her know like, hey,
- 13:42Speaker 2: before this goes any further and we pursue anything, like,
- 13:46Speaker 2: I just want to let you know, I will be
- 13:48Speaker 2: coming out on a show. And, you know, I don't
- 13:50Speaker 2: know if that's something you want to deal with because
- 13:52Speaker 2: it's not for everybody. And yeah, so then when we
- 13:55Speaker 2: got to that date, Then I told her, I was like,
- 13:58Speaker 2: that's my ex-fiance from the show. Yeah, that was pretty crazy.
- 14:02Speaker 2: So did they get along? Yeah, everything went smooth. I mean,
- 14:07Speaker 2: obviously it's a little awkward, but at that point we're
- 14:09Speaker 2: on the date, me and Stacey, we were good friends
- 14:12Speaker 2: at that point. We already reconnected since we hadn't talked
- 14:15Speaker 2: in a year, but I want to say about like
- 14:17Speaker 2: two months before then we had already reconnected. So it
- 14:20Speaker 2: was just very unexpected to run into each other and
- 14:23Speaker 2: to be at the same table on that date. But yeah, Um, no,
- 14:27Speaker 2: I mean, it was just a little awkward, but we
- 14:28Speaker 2: made fun with it and yeah, we ended up having
- 14:31Speaker 2: a good time. So I can play it. So I'm
- 14:33Speaker 2: a smooth.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Is Stacy still with the same guy?
- 14:36Speaker 2: Um, I'm, I'm pretty sure. Yeah, I think so. I'm not,
- 14:42Speaker 2: I'm not too sure. I, you know, um, to be honest,
- 14:47Speaker 2: but I'm assuming so.
- 14:49Speaker 1: This episode is brought to you by Kitsch. I love
- 14:52Speaker 1: beauty products. So does my daughter. Sometimes I literally have
- 14:55Speaker 1: to hide them so she doesn't sneak in and steal them.
- 14:57Speaker 1: We're obsessed with anything that is easy to use, has
- 15:00Speaker 1: great results and saves us money. And that's where Kitsch
- 15:03Speaker 1: comes in. Kitsch is a game changer in the world
- 15:05Speaker 1: of beauty and hair products. Kitsch is a female-founded company
- 15:08Speaker 1: that started in 2010, and now they are carried in
- 15:11Speaker 1: over 20,000 retail locations. They believe everyone deserves a little indulgence,
- 15:15Speaker 1: no matter your budget, your skin type, or your hair type.
- 15:19Speaker 1: I change my hair up constantly, which makes it hard
- 15:21Speaker 1: to keep healthy, but Kitsch's heatless satin curling rollers help
- 15:25Speaker 1: save your hair from heat damage. I know you've probably
- 15:27Speaker 1: seen the Kitsch satin pillowcase cap and eye mask line,
- 15:31Speaker 1: which are great while you sleep. And also, I don't
- 15:33Speaker 1: know if you've seen the Barbie by Kitsch collection. They
- 15:36Speaker 1: have those satin pillowcases in the iconic Barbie pink. They're adorable.
- 15:40Speaker 1: I actually have two. I love them. Also, another thing
- 15:44Speaker 1: that I personally love is the rice water shampoo bars.
- 15:46Speaker 1: It actually improves my overall hair growth and fullness. It
- 15:50Speaker 1: strengthens it. It smooths out the frizz. It keeps the
- 15:53Speaker 1: moisture levels balanced. I was really skeptical about changing up
- 15:58Speaker 1: using shampoo and conditioner and using an actual bar. I
- 16:01Speaker 1: didn't even know how it would work. But I will
- 16:03Speaker 1: tell you that after the first use, my hair looked
- 16:05Speaker 1: and felt great. And I've actually had friends of mine
- 16:08Speaker 1: who've used the coupon come up to me and say
- 16:11Speaker 1: they are never going back and they are constantly going
- 16:14Speaker 1: to be getting the shampoo bars because it's changed their hair.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Right now, Kitsch is offering you 30% off your entire
- 16:20Speaker 1: order at mykitsch.com slash understood. That's right. It's 30% off
- 16:25Speaker 1: anything and everything at mykitsch.com slash understood. One more time,
- 16:32Speaker 1: it's mykitsch.com slash understood for 30% off your order. Enjoy.
- 16:38Speaker 1: I mean, I think, again, as somebody who watched it
- 16:41Speaker 1: and is heavily invested in this show, you know, there
- 16:44Speaker 1: were moments that I turned and said to my 11
- 16:47Speaker 1: year old daughter, who was also heavily invested in your journey,
- 16:51Speaker 1: you know, we were like, oh, my God, I'm going
- 16:53Speaker 1: to cry for Izzy because there were so many times
- 16:56Speaker 1: where and I want to ask you if you think
- 16:58Speaker 1: this was edited or is this the situation where I
- 17:01Speaker 1: feel like you did a lot. to be a good
- 17:05Speaker 1: partner and you were not met with that same kind
- 17:08Speaker 1: of reciprocation. And again, it could have been for the show,
- 17:13Speaker 1: it could have been what was edited, but it did
- 17:15Speaker 1: seem like you were doing your part and what you
- 17:19Speaker 1: were capable of doing in such a short amount of time.
- 17:22Speaker 1: And there was a lot of like, but you're not
- 17:24Speaker 1: doing anything for me. What are your thoughts on that?
- 17:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, at times I did feel that way.
- 17:34Speaker 2: Stacey did have my back in situations and would give
- 17:38Speaker 2: me reassurance from time to time when, you know, off
- 17:41Speaker 2: camera kind of thing. Obviously, you know, I have my
- 17:46Speaker 2: breakdowns or I freak out too. But yeah, like I
- 17:49Speaker 2: kind of watching it back, like I do kind of feel,
- 17:53Speaker 2: you know, a little bit that way. It was just
- 17:55Speaker 2: a very discouraging feeling that conversation we had after the barbecue,
- 18:00Speaker 2: you know, it's just like, I am, doing my best
- 18:03Speaker 2: with what I can. And so, yeah, I mean, you
- 18:06Speaker 2: kind of saw that. That's why I had like, I
- 18:09Speaker 2: lost it. That's why I ended up just like going
- 18:11Speaker 2: into the closet because it was just like the pressure
- 18:17Speaker 2: and the stress of filming, having to be strong for
- 18:20Speaker 2: my fiance, who's also stressing and having meltdowns and everything.
- 18:25Speaker 2: And then also trying to juggle my own emotions. Like
- 18:29Speaker 2: I can only, I'm only human, you know, I can
- 18:31Speaker 2: only do so much. And I think that point of
- 18:34Speaker 2: feeling unappreciated is really when I just kind of hit
- 18:39Speaker 2: my breaking point.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Well, I mean, I sort of wanted to grab you
- 18:44Speaker 1: and be like, you know this isn't normal. Like, just
- 18:46Speaker 1: because you have paper plates in your house.
- 18:49Speaker 3: They think you're done for the day, but they don't
- 18:52Speaker 3: know about the drawer. The drawer. Just the one square
- 18:57Speaker 3: before bed. Or two, you know. Nobody's watching. You deserve
- 19:04Speaker 3: a treat. With eight flavours to choose from, you can
- 19:10Speaker 3: choose the flavour you favour with Cadbury Dairy Milk.
- 19:19Speaker 1: Or you don't have a side table or whatever doesn't
- 19:22Speaker 1: mean you're lesser than. There are plenty of people who
- 19:25Speaker 1: live that way. And it's like you're at a stage
- 19:28Speaker 1: in your life where you can only go up. So
- 19:31Speaker 1: that's really not a reason to You know, not love someone.
- 19:35Speaker 1: That's not a reason that that is not a red flag. Like,
- 19:38Speaker 1: I feel like I need to say that to you,
- 19:40Speaker 1: because as a person who seems like just a really
- 19:42Speaker 1: nice salt of the earth guy, like, I don't want
- 19:45Speaker 1: anyone to take away from you that like, that's not normal.
- 19:48Speaker 1: I didn't think that was a normal reaction. And I
- 19:51Speaker 1: think it was really for a lot of people who
- 19:54Speaker 1: watched it. I think it was really cringe worthy and
- 19:56Speaker 1: people really were like, that's, that's not okay. And for
- 20:00Speaker 1: someone to call you a liar because of your, you know,
- 20:03Speaker 1: you hadn't come out with your credit score yet. I
- 20:06Speaker 1: also thought was a huge stretch. You know, it's like
- 20:10Speaker 1: you guys hadn't known each other that long, like only
- 20:12Speaker 1: certain amount of things can come out. And for her
- 20:15Speaker 1: and her family, obviously that was a big deal for you.
- 20:18Speaker 1: It wasn't something that you led a conversation with. So
- 20:21Speaker 1: I just, you know, I thought as a viewer, it
- 20:24Speaker 1: was very uncomfortable. And I hope, you know, that's like,
- 20:27Speaker 1: You shouldn't be defined by that.
- 20:30Speaker 2: I really appreciate that. Oh yeah. It is difficult to watch.
- 20:34Speaker 2: I'm not going to lie. Like the last, especially getting
- 20:37Speaker 2: towards that, you know, the last episode was like, I
- 20:41Speaker 2: was very emotional watching them. It's a shitty feeling from
- 20:45Speaker 2: the outside, looking in and watching yourself go through pain.
- 20:49Speaker 2: You know what I mean? But I mean, at the
- 20:52Speaker 2: end of the day, you know, I've kept my head
- 20:54Speaker 2: up and I've realized that I've had a lot of support, like,
- 20:57Speaker 2: you know, from often people like you and family and friends.
- 21:00Speaker 2: And yes, I really appreciate that. So now I really just,
- 21:03Speaker 2: you know, kind of tell myself, like, yeah, I am
- 21:05Speaker 2: a good person and I will make a great husband someday.
- 21:08Speaker 2: You will.
- 21:09Speaker 1: You will.
- 21:10Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 21:10Speaker 1: So did you know ahead of time that she was
- 21:13Speaker 1: going to say no?
- 21:15Speaker 2: Um, she told me two days before the wedding. Um, Yeah,
- 21:23Speaker 2: which we had the finance conversation the night, it was
- 21:28Speaker 2: the night of our final date. We're at the Air Museum.
- 21:32Speaker 2: The next day, we had the app night. The next
- 21:36Speaker 2: day was our bachelor and bachelorette party. So we had
- 21:39Speaker 2: to pack up. That's when we had to move out
- 21:40Speaker 2: of the house or the apartment. And they made us
- 21:44Speaker 2: have that finance conversation again. And so at that point,
- 21:47Speaker 2: like I didn't know, it was rocky. That was the
- 21:50Speaker 2: first time I really felt, I didn't feel confident in us,
- 21:55Speaker 2: you know, getting the yes, because before then I felt
- 21:57Speaker 2: like she was an absolute yes, you know, the whole way.
- 22:00Speaker 2: I never, obviously we had issues, but I never felt
- 22:02Speaker 2: like a big doubt or to where anything stood out
- 22:04Speaker 2: for her to say no until that, until that. And so, yeah,
- 22:11Speaker 2: we had to spend two days apart after bachelor and
- 22:15Speaker 2: bachelorette party. They don't want us together. Um, but it
- 22:17Speaker 2: was like, yeah, it was like two days before she
- 22:19Speaker 2: called me, she was out and I was out and
- 22:22Speaker 2: she was like, Hey, like I'm home and I miss you.
- 22:25Speaker 2: And I kind of really want to see you. So
- 22:26Speaker 2: in my head, I'm like, yeah, like I get to
- 22:29Speaker 2: see you. This looks good. Maybe, you know, we are
- 22:32Speaker 2: going to work out after all. So I just drop
- 22:35Speaker 2: what I'm doing and I go straight over there and
- 22:38Speaker 2: we're having like, you know, really laying around in bed,
- 22:40Speaker 2: just laughing. And, um, I can't remember exactly how the
- 22:46Speaker 2: conversation went, but it led to the point where she
- 22:48Speaker 2: was just like, wait, like, I'm not saying yes to you.
- 22:52Speaker 2: She's like, I can't. She's like, I'm not ready. And
- 22:56Speaker 2: I was just like, what? I was devastated. I remember
- 23:00Speaker 2: I just lost it. I didn't expect that. And so
- 23:05Speaker 2: going into the wedding, you know, I knew she was
- 23:07Speaker 2: going to say yes, but then obviously I let production
- 23:09Speaker 2: know like, hey, you know, she's probably going to say no,
- 23:16Speaker 2: but they're like, hey, don't lose hope. Keep fighting like
- 23:19Speaker 2: you've always been. People on previous seasons were no's when
- 23:25Speaker 2: they went in. Barnett was a no, I think, with Amber,
- 23:28Speaker 2: and he changed his mind at the all-term with a yes.
- 23:31Speaker 2: I can't remember if it's next.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Are they still together, by the way?
- 23:35Speaker 2: Yeah, they're still together. That's why I was like, you
- 23:40Speaker 2: know what? You're right. I just kind of like, So
- 23:42Speaker 2: you had hope.
- 23:43Speaker 1: You were holding out hope for her to change her
- 23:46Speaker 1: mind based on who you were up until the conversation
- 23:49Speaker 1: about finances.
- 23:51Speaker 2: Correct. Yeah.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Did you make any big plea of like, listen, there's
- 23:55Speaker 1: only so much I could do because of my credit score.
- 23:56Speaker 1: I can only get better. Like I can only do,
- 23:59Speaker 1: you know, get a job.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, I see. I had the thing. I don't
- 24:03Speaker 2: know why people be thinking I wasn't employed. I was
- 24:05Speaker 2: employed the whole time. Like that was like one of the,
- 24:08Speaker 2: another big thing that happened with the, a little bit
- 24:11Speaker 2: of a concern was I was on a 1099 because
- 24:14Speaker 2: I was doing insurance versus like a W2. And that
- 24:18Speaker 2: was like, I feel like kind of like a stability
- 24:20Speaker 2: thing for her. I think that she felt like, I
- 24:22Speaker 2: don't know.
- 24:23Speaker 1: But that's crazy. I mean, it shouldn't necessarily matter what
- 24:27Speaker 1: you do, as long as you're really good at what
- 24:28Speaker 1: you do and you're young, you're still figuring it out.
- 24:32Speaker 1: I don't think there's anything wrong with that. If you
- 24:34Speaker 1: love someone, you want to build a life together. So
- 24:36Speaker 1: I think, you know, it's like I asked you when
- 24:39Speaker 1: you were coming into this, if you were open to
- 24:42Speaker 1: meeting somebody and having love be blind, right. And, and
- 24:46Speaker 1: falling for somebody seems like you were into that. And
- 24:49Speaker 1: then with, with her and I don't know her, but
- 24:52Speaker 1: it's just look from the outside, looking in, it seems
- 24:54Speaker 1: like there are criteria that she couldn't let go of.
- 24:57Speaker 1: And her family seems to blame too. They couldn't let
- 25:00Speaker 1: go of it.
- 25:01Speaker 2: Right.
- 25:01Speaker 1: And they, you know, kind of rub off on her.
- 25:04Speaker 1: I mean, I saw that she came out on her
- 25:06Speaker 1: Instagram and she's like selling merch, a sweater that says
- 25:10Speaker 1: sometimes love wants to buy first class. Like, I thought
- 25:13Speaker 1: that was really gross. I looked, I actually took the
- 25:16Speaker 1: time to look at the comments because everyone's like, oh,
- 25:18Speaker 1: I'm here for it. I'm buying it. But I was like,
- 25:20Speaker 1: that's obnoxious.
- 25:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Like I'm not going to date the guy that lives
- 25:24Speaker 1: with his mom and doesn't have a job and like
- 25:28Speaker 1: all of that, but I'm not dating them because they're
- 25:30Speaker 1: not motivated. Not because, you know, that I will date
- 25:34Speaker 1: somebody that's less off because if they're really good at
- 25:38Speaker 1: something and trying, I mean, it just, I think that
- 25:41Speaker 1: that was kind of a bad move on her part
- 25:43Speaker 1: to capitalize on such a kind of gross behavior, my opinion.
- 25:48Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, as far as for me, I guess
- 25:52Speaker 2: now that I look at it, I find it funny.
- 25:55Speaker 2: When her dad did have that conversation with me, it
- 25:59Speaker 2: was just more so, and her family's amazing. Like they
- 26:01Speaker 2: were so sweet and receptive to me. And I think
- 26:04Speaker 2: more so than that's the thing that I appreciated with
- 26:06Speaker 2: him is that he just kept it real with me.
- 26:08Speaker 2: So it wasn't like saying like, my daughter needs to
- 26:11Speaker 2: fly first class. I felt like it was just kind
- 26:13Speaker 2: of implying like, Hey, stacy has like you know not
- 26:15Speaker 2: likes nice things likes to do nice things um just
- 26:19Speaker 2: to kind of let you.
- 26:20Speaker 1: Know maybe warning you yeah like again with no yeah
- 26:25Speaker 1: and not that one is worse than the other but
- 26:27Speaker 1: just being like this is what you're in for you
- 26:29Speaker 1: might not know yeah.
- 26:30Speaker 2: So yeah so as far as the merch thing i
- 26:34Speaker 2: mean it doesn't bother me at this point uh again
- 26:39Speaker 2: i mean you know i don't whatever happened happened in
- 26:42Speaker 2: the past as far as you know where we're at
- 26:44Speaker 2: now we're great friends and i support her so uh
- 26:48Speaker 2: yeah well that's.
- 26:49Speaker 1: A testament because because you're a good guy that's why
- 26:51Speaker 1: you're that's your response a lot of people wouldn't feel
- 26:53Speaker 1: that way um let's talk about the reunion for a
- 26:55Speaker 1: second i had uche on my show um he did
- 27:00Speaker 1: not show up for the reunion um You know, it's
- 27:04Speaker 1: very interesting to me. I posted a clip of Uche
- 27:08Speaker 1: from being on my podcast and he collaborated. So it's
- 27:12Speaker 1: on both of our feeds. This one clip has gotten
- 27:16Speaker 1: over 500,000 views. And the level of people comment for
- 27:22Speaker 1: Uche is like the hatred and the misunderstanding, I think,
- 27:26Speaker 1: of that guy is very interesting. Now I'm coming from
- 27:30Speaker 1: a perspective of someone who shared like an hour and
- 27:32Speaker 1: a half with him that, you know, I don't know
- 27:34Speaker 1: him beyond an hour and a half, but I listened
- 27:36Speaker 1: to him and then I watched him, you know, go
- 27:38Speaker 1: through what you went through. I thought the hatred was
- 27:43Speaker 1: uncalled for. I thought it was kind of bizarre. But
- 27:46Speaker 1: you tell me, what's your experience with Uche?
- 27:50Speaker 2: So obviously we, you know, we had that where I
- 27:56Speaker 2: was hearing, you know, how he was saying things about me.
- 28:00Speaker 3: They think you're done for the day, but they don't
- 28:03Speaker 3: know about the drawer. The drawer. Just the one square
- 28:08Speaker 3: before bed. Or two, you know. Nobody's watching. You deserve
- 28:15Speaker 3: a treat. With eight flavours to choose from, you can
- 28:21Speaker 3: choose the flavour you favour with Cadbury Dairy Milk.
- 28:30Speaker 2: Um and things like that which I didn't understand because
- 28:33Speaker 2: with the guys when we leave the show you know
- 28:36Speaker 2: I felt like we all had a really good bond
- 28:38Speaker 2: I felt like our experience with the guys in the
- 28:40Speaker 2: pod we made it very clear to not really talk
- 28:44Speaker 2: about who we're dating during the time until it got
- 28:48Speaker 2: to the later days we're like getting serious and closer
- 28:50Speaker 2: to proposal just so we wouldn't let our friendships affect
- 28:55Speaker 2: our decision or vice versa let the girls affect our
- 28:58Speaker 2: friendship um And so that's what I appreciated. So we
- 29:02Speaker 2: all left the pods on good terms. You know, Uche
- 29:06Speaker 2: is great. He was the oldest, the widest. He actually
- 29:09Speaker 2: was giving a lot of advice to some of the guys.
- 29:12Speaker 2: So I thought everything was great. And then it was
- 29:14Speaker 2: like afterwards, you know, we were out. And when I
- 29:19Speaker 2: like the night I said bye to John, like I
- 29:21Speaker 2: apologized to Johnny. Johnny was coming with me. You know,
- 29:24Speaker 2: he was like, you're going to leave with that guy,
- 29:25Speaker 2: you know, kind of thing. So I was just like,
- 29:27Speaker 2: I didn't understand where that came from. And then just
- 29:30Speaker 2: hearing it from other people from the cast. So I
- 29:32Speaker 2: was like, I was confused. I was like, I didn't,
- 29:35Speaker 2: I don't know. Like, I thought we were cool. I
- 29:36Speaker 2: don't know what happened. I didn't do something to you.
- 29:40Speaker 2: um and then when me and Stacey reconnected again um
- 29:46Speaker 2: yeah like a year later we all went out for
- 29:48Speaker 2: drinks it was like me Stacey one more person in
- 29:50Speaker 2: the cast and Uche and And I walked to the
- 29:53Speaker 2: bathroom and then like Uche was still talking about me
- 29:56Speaker 2: to Stacey in that moment. And Stacey told me, like,
- 29:59Speaker 2: as I got back, like, hey, Uche's like talking about you.
- 30:02Speaker 2: I'm just like, what? Like, I didn't understand. So.
- 30:06Speaker 1: Well, let me ask you a question. Were you able
- 30:08Speaker 1: to listen to any of.
- 30:10Speaker 2: So, yeah, so there's more. So, so he saw my episode,
- 30:14Speaker 2: my first episode with Nick and he did reach out
- 30:17Speaker 2: and he did apologize to me. um just because you
- 30:21Speaker 2: know he only had one side and he was just
- 30:23Speaker 2: only getting from what you know johnny told him um
- 30:27Speaker 2: and now as he's like seeing everything played out and
- 30:30Speaker 2: like watched the show and heard some things that's gone
- 30:34Speaker 2: off gone on uh off the show um he apologized
- 30:38Speaker 2: and he was like you know i think you're a
- 30:39Speaker 2: great guy and and everything like that so it's like
- 30:42Speaker 2: cool like I didn't want any drama. Um, I think
- 30:45Speaker 2: he's amazing. I never had anything bad to say about him. Um,
- 30:49Speaker 2: that's why it caught me off guard when I did
- 30:51Speaker 2: hear that, but he texted me and he apologized. Like
- 30:53Speaker 2: everything's cool and everything's fine. Um, yeah. Yeah.
- 30:57Speaker 1: I mean, go ahead.
- 30:59Speaker 2: Yeah. As far as like what's happening with the Lydian
- 31:01Speaker 2: and all that stuff, like I didn't even know any
- 31:04Speaker 2: of this stuff. Um, I didn't, I didn't even know
- 31:09Speaker 2: that in the pod, like I didn't even find that out.
- 31:12Speaker 2: in the pod I didn't know until it was actually
- 31:14Speaker 2: going down at the barbecue and even then at the
- 31:18Speaker 2: barbecue I'm just still like my mind's over here with
- 31:21Speaker 2: like the whole Stacey Johnny thing that like I'm just
- 31:23Speaker 2: sitting here it's a very awkward moment to like be
- 31:28Speaker 2: in the middle of somebody like fighting so I really
- 31:30Speaker 2: didn't know to really like judge off you know it's
- 31:35Speaker 2: like whatever's going on.
- 31:36Speaker 1: Here with that Yeah, so I think he's getting a
- 31:39Speaker 1: lot of pushback about the fact that during that barbecue,
- 31:44Speaker 1: he was showing screenshots to Milton and getting into it
- 31:48Speaker 1: with the girls. And I mean... Again, just from hearing
- 31:51Speaker 1: his perspective, I mean, a lot of the issues with you,
- 31:54Speaker 1: he said, started from that night at the barbecue because
- 31:57Speaker 1: it was more like what was going on between, you know,
- 32:01Speaker 1: he was telling you guys a story. Stacey was getting involved.
- 32:04Speaker 1: I mean, Stacey seems to be the common denominator and
- 32:07Speaker 1: getting a lot of people in trouble or starting some drama.
- 32:10Speaker 1: Because it was more like Stacey was egging the whole
- 32:13Speaker 1: thing on with Johnny. And then he saw how you
- 32:16Speaker 1: were reacting based on Stacey's reaction towards Johnny. And he
- 32:20Speaker 1: had never experienced that with you before. So I'm glad
- 32:23Speaker 1: you guys worked that all out. But what are your
- 32:26Speaker 1: thoughts about Stacey's influence on you and kind of making
- 32:31Speaker 1: you into somebody who was being a little more dramatic
- 32:33Speaker 1: and maybe a little more mean than I think you
- 32:36Speaker 1: would be.
- 32:37Speaker 2: So what happened with that scenario is I honestly wouldn't
- 32:41Speaker 2: even have talked to Johnny that day. I was forced
- 32:44Speaker 2: to talk to Johnny. Stacey had no influence on how
- 32:48Speaker 2: I treated Johnny. She never told me anything. The things
- 32:52Speaker 2: that I was hearing that were being said about me
- 32:54Speaker 2: weren't even from Stacey. They were from other people on
- 32:57Speaker 2: the cast. and then what she was saying about Stacey.
- 33:01Speaker 2: And that's where a lot of people don't know. They
- 33:03Speaker 2: think that I just immediately walked up to Johnny and
- 33:06Speaker 2: just started attacking her. But the deal is, is, like,
- 33:09Speaker 2: I was over it. I was over Johnny. I'm with Stacey.
- 33:12Speaker 2: But production's like, you need to go have a conversation
- 33:14Speaker 2: with Johnny. Well, I get that.
- 33:17Speaker 1: I get that, but it almost seemed like it was
- 33:19Speaker 1: Stacey that had the issue with Johnny because she wasn't
- 33:21Speaker 1: over it. I mean, I think there was still a
- 33:23Speaker 1: little jealousy about the fact that you almost picked her.
- 33:28Speaker 2: Um no obviously that was done and um it was
- 33:32Speaker 2: more so literally a day or two before the barbecue
- 33:36Speaker 2: we're finding out all this information of what johnny is
- 33:40Speaker 2: saying about us and what has said about us um
- 33:43Speaker 2: there was even a point in time where she even
- 33:44Speaker 2: tried to go after like josh page's fiancee at the
- 33:48Speaker 2: time but their story didn't make the cut you know
- 33:50Speaker 2: what i mean um and then hearing like you know
- 33:53Speaker 2: she was bashing Stacey's physical appearance um saying you know
- 33:57Speaker 2: the stuff about my credit and all this stuff so
- 34:00Speaker 2: I mean it what it did upset us because like
- 34:02Speaker 2: were we even there you know to defend ourselves or
- 34:04Speaker 2: anything so I think that's why as far as for
- 34:06Speaker 2: me I had so much emotion bottled up it didn't
- 34:09Speaker 2: help that I was drinking no excuse but like that
- 34:12Speaker 2: and you're talking about my fiance Stacey never told me
- 34:15Speaker 2: or was feeding me anything like that and that's something
- 34:18Speaker 2: that I just want to make clear that a lot
- 34:20Speaker 2: of people are thinking that Stacey brought out the bad.
- 34:23Speaker 2: I was responsible for my own actions that night. I
- 34:25Speaker 2: did not act the best and I take full responsibility
- 34:29Speaker 2: of that and I've learned from it. But she did
- 34:31Speaker 2: not have an influence of that. It was just, we
- 34:33Speaker 2: had found that information out literally two days before that barbecue.
- 34:38Speaker 1: So that animosity seemed to carry over through to the reunion,
- 34:42Speaker 1: which I still found interesting because that was like a
- 34:44Speaker 1: year later. You saw a lot of arguing or passive
- 34:47Speaker 1: aggressiveness towards the two of them, a little bit of
- 34:50Speaker 1: you involved. And then there was a lot of conversation
- 34:53Speaker 1: about the Uche-Lydia thing. Uche was not there to stand
- 34:58Speaker 1: up for himself, give his side. And I think it
- 35:01Speaker 1: was really evident that without him there, no one was
- 35:04Speaker 1: having his back on his narrative. everyone else seemed to
- 35:07Speaker 1: be falling into Lydia's narrative. Um, and I heard you
- 35:11Speaker 1: even this morning on part two of your interview with Nick,
- 35:15Speaker 1: that it seemed that you agree that you didn't think
- 35:19Speaker 1: it went down the way he said it. And right.
- 35:22Speaker 1: I mean, what, what are your thoughts? Yeah.
- 35:23Speaker 2: So it's hard to hear. And then there's like a
- 35:27Speaker 2: Leah side also. So she tells like what she's saying about,
- 35:31Speaker 2: you know, her experiences with it too. Um, Trying to
- 35:38Speaker 2: see Lydia's side, right? I feel like I'm in Aaliyah's spot.
- 35:46Speaker 2: I'm like, who do we trust here? With that certain scenario.
- 35:51Speaker 2: Lydia seems happy. She didn't seem like it was that
- 35:53Speaker 2: big of a deal for her. The way Milton has
- 35:56Speaker 2: described it, as in he kept trying to push to
- 36:01Speaker 2: show me these, and Milton was like, dude, I don't care.
- 36:04Speaker 2: Like that was y'all. I just like, I don't need
- 36:07Speaker 2: to see this. So if you look at it from
- 36:09Speaker 2: both sides, I'm not saying anybody's right or wrong. It's
- 36:12Speaker 2: hard to determine that. And the part one was filmed
- 36:19Speaker 2: of mine and Nick Vile's podcast was filmed like the
- 36:24Speaker 2: day after reunion. This was like before Uche and I,
- 36:26Speaker 2: he hadn't even texted me. So, like, my mind, my
- 36:29Speaker 2: mindset at that time was like, okay, this kind of
- 36:33Speaker 2: makes sense. Now I got to talk to Uche Duterte
- 36:37Speaker 2: and see his side. Like, at this point, I really
- 36:39Speaker 2: don't know what to believe. That's a sticky situation.
- 36:41Speaker 1: I mean, I'll be honest with you, coming from someone that, again,
- 36:46Speaker 1: watched it and has spoken to only Uche, and I
- 36:51Speaker 1: I feel like I usually side with the woman, right?
- 36:53Speaker 1: But it kind of doesn't matter. Like I'm not trying
- 36:56Speaker 1: to side with anyone, but it did seem like Lydia
- 36:58Speaker 1: was fine at the reunion because she got what she wanted.
- 37:01Speaker 1: She got a man to propose to her. She's engaged
- 37:04Speaker 1: to somebody. Maybe they have a great relationship and that's
- 37:07Speaker 1: terrific for her. So it worked out for her, but
- 37:09Speaker 1: it also.
- 37:11Speaker 3: They think you're done for the day, but they don't
- 37:14Speaker 3: know about the drawer. The drawer. Just the one square
- 37:19Speaker 3: before bed. Or two, you know. Nobody's watching. You deserve
- 37:26Speaker 3: a treat. With eight flavours to choose from, you can
- 37:32Speaker 3: choose the flavour you favour with Cadbury Dairy Milk.
- 37:41Speaker 1: Worked out that her ex, his relationship blew up. And
- 37:46Speaker 1: so it kind of like seemed to me like, that's
- 37:49Speaker 1: why she was so happy. Like she didn't have to
- 37:51Speaker 1: worry about her ex being with another girl that blew
- 37:53Speaker 1: up and she's in a good spot. I'm not saying
- 37:56Speaker 1: she actually has feelings for Uche or like would rather
- 37:59Speaker 1: be with him. It's just, it seemed to work out
- 38:02Speaker 1: in her favor. And I thought, you know, no wonder
- 38:05Speaker 1: she's happy. I also didn't understand why. And I said
- 38:08Speaker 1: this to Uche. Why is Aaliyah like leaving because a
- 38:12Speaker 1: girl saying to him, I used to date him. He
- 38:15Speaker 1: has a car. He has a home. I mean, who cares?
- 38:19Speaker 1: Like that made no sense to me why she would
- 38:22Speaker 1: even get mad. If anything, it made me feel uncomfortable.
- 38:25Speaker 1: Their relationship, the girls seemed very physical. It seemed very close.
- 38:30Speaker 1: And you're on a show to meet a guy. that
- 38:33Speaker 1: you want to marry. So I don't understand why the
- 38:37Speaker 1: fact that they had dated, clearly he had dated someone
- 38:39Speaker 1: in the past. I mean, unfortunately it was the girl
- 38:41Speaker 1: that you've become friends with, but if anything, I would
- 38:44Speaker 1: have been more pissed at Lydia because she knew this
- 38:46Speaker 1: whole time and she was trying to befriend me. trying
- 38:50Speaker 1: to hear my feelings about this dude. So to me,
- 38:53Speaker 1: I thought that was really weird and uncomfortable. And I
- 38:57Speaker 1: felt bad for Uche that his, you know, he made
- 38:59Speaker 1: a real attempt to work it out with someone and
- 39:02Speaker 1: she left because of the conversation she was having with Lydia,
- 39:05Speaker 1: no longer trusted him. But I still didn't get that.
- 39:08Speaker 1: I was like, why would you want to be with
- 39:09Speaker 1: someone who leaves just because you hear you have a
- 39:11Speaker 1: car and a home and some girl slept with you?
- 39:14Speaker 1: I mean, that seems kind of dumb.
- 39:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I... God, I couldn't even, like, I feel bad for,
- 39:21Speaker 2: for Aaliyah and UJ. I mean, regardless, like, how all
- 39:25Speaker 2: that happened. I mean, nobody asked for it. I think.
- 39:30Speaker 2: if I can.
- 39:30Speaker 1: And then I think, sorry to interrupt you, but I
- 39:32Speaker 1: just want to say, and then I could see why
- 39:33Speaker 1: Uche spent the rest of the time being like, I
- 39:36Speaker 1: need to prove that this ruined my time.
- 39:39Speaker 2: Right.
- 39:39Speaker 1: Like I need to prove that Lydia came, she knew,
- 39:42Speaker 1: and this has ruined everything. And I'm pissed. Like I,
- 39:45Speaker 1: I got it. Like for you, Izzy, like, think of
- 39:48Speaker 1: a girl that you had dated a couple months before
- 39:50Speaker 1: the show.
- 39:51Speaker 2: Okay.
- 39:51Speaker 1: I'm not going to ask you her name. Let's say
- 39:53Speaker 1: her name is Jennifer. Pretend you are in the pods
- 39:57Speaker 1: and Jennifer shows up and starts talking to you. It
- 39:59Speaker 1: was like, Hey, want to try this again? And you're like, no,
- 40:02Speaker 1: but I mean, you're here. So we're just going to
- 40:04Speaker 1: pretend we don't know each other. How would you have reacted?
- 40:09Speaker 2: Um if somebody would have went off like if she
- 40:10Speaker 2: would have went off kind of thing you know stuff
- 40:13Speaker 2: like i would have been a little bit pissed yeah
- 40:15Speaker 2: right i feel like that's the conversation where it's like
- 40:17Speaker 2: hey we're mutual on this let's just like be adults
- 40:22Speaker 2: not you know say much about it and let's let's
- 40:25Speaker 2: enjoy you know the experience kind of thing right um
- 40:29Speaker 2: you see like i see that that's what i'm saying
- 40:32Speaker 2: like it's hard to like really know and i'm not
- 40:34Speaker 2: taking anybody's side on this but then again i don't
- 40:37Speaker 2: know how the edit really was or how it was
- 40:39Speaker 2: the girls like over there and if lydia was just
- 40:42Speaker 2: trying to be a good friend and like look out
- 40:45Speaker 2: um i think during reunion lydia did say like i
- 40:49Speaker 2: should have read the room as in she overshare um
- 40:52Speaker 2: and i think she realized that um So, yeah, I
- 40:56Speaker 2: would say that's probably the only part. Like, maybe I
- 40:58Speaker 2: can see your side. You're being a good friend. And
- 40:59Speaker 2: it's kind of letting her know. But I think she did,
- 41:01Speaker 2: you know, mention that she did overshare a little too
- 41:04Speaker 2: much information going in depth of, like, the type of
- 41:06Speaker 2: car he drove, the name of the dog and stuff
- 41:08Speaker 2: like that. Right. Yeah. So it's really hard to tell because, like, yes,
- 41:12Speaker 2: I put myself in a taste spot and I would
- 41:14Speaker 2: be pretty pissed off. And then I'm trying to see, like,
- 41:18Speaker 2: Lydia's side and being a good friend. So, yeah.
- 41:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, it's hard and I guess we'll never know.
- 41:25Speaker 1: But it's like, you know, unfortunately, you know, I think
- 41:28Speaker 1: that two people didn't get to have an experience because
- 41:32Speaker 1: of what happened. And that's a bummer whether or not
- 41:35Speaker 1: production new. I do have one question. When you guys
- 41:39Speaker 1: are being interviewed to come in, do you have to
- 41:41Speaker 1: lay out like. how you're worthy as a partner, kind
- 41:45Speaker 1: of like, again, we got into the whole thing with
- 41:47Speaker 1: your finances. I know there was another couple on the
- 41:50Speaker 1: show where finances became a problem. He was edited out.
- 41:53Speaker 1: She was edited out. But like, do they ask you
- 41:56Speaker 1: if you get engaged? Are you capable of being in
- 42:00Speaker 1: a relationship because your finances are squared away? You have
- 42:04Speaker 1: a job. You can literally move from a show to
- 42:07Speaker 1: a real life relationship. Are they asking you about your finances?
- 42:11Speaker 2: So they, I mean, they do background checks on it. Um,
- 42:15Speaker 2: so yeah, so they like see everything. Obviously they'll give, like,
- 42:19Speaker 2: they make it fill out a bunch of stuff. Um,
- 42:22Speaker 2: you know, what we do, obviously we have to give
- 42:24Speaker 2: them like our, a title of what we do. Cause
- 42:27Speaker 2: it's under our name when you see it, you know
- 42:29Speaker 2: what I mean? Um, they don't ask you specifically, can
- 42:32Speaker 2: you provide for your partner? I think, um, anyone, um,
- 42:37Speaker 2: I feel like if you're going to do something like this,
- 42:40Speaker 2: you should be able to provide for your partner. Unless
- 42:42Speaker 2: that's the case, you shouldn't be going on this show.
- 42:44Speaker 2: You know what I mean? But specifically, no, that's not
- 42:47Speaker 2: something they ask. They ask us more just like, you know,
- 42:51Speaker 2: about ourselves, hobbies, our relationship history, you know, girls we've
- 42:56Speaker 2: dated in the past and, you know, pictures of that
- 42:59Speaker 2: and stuff like that to kind of get a feel
- 43:01Speaker 2: for you. Um, but I mean, I feel like they,
- 43:04Speaker 2: I mean, with them running the background check, they can
- 43:06Speaker 2: pretty much see everything. So, um, so yeah.
- 43:11Speaker 1: Um, okay. Another big thing that's come out of love
- 43:14Speaker 1: is blind is that there's been a lot of backlash
- 43:18Speaker 1: about Nick and Vanessa. Um, what was your relationship with them?
- 43:22Speaker 1: How often were they actually involved?
- 43:26Speaker 2: Um, as far as like in the filming or like
- 43:28Speaker 2: in the pod, we only saw them once. Um, And
- 43:33Speaker 2: then when we had our suit fittings and stuff, that
- 43:35Speaker 2: was a lot more intimate one-on-one time with Nick. And
- 43:38Speaker 2: I know the girls got like that one-on-one interaction with Vanessa.
- 43:44Speaker 2: As far as reunion, I feel like they did great.
- 43:47Speaker 2: I didn't feel like they were taking anybody's side or
- 43:49Speaker 2: anything like that. I thought they were actually kind of
- 43:53Speaker 2: funny on it. And so... Yeah, I felt like I
- 43:57Speaker 2: did a really good job this reunion. It wasn't, you know,
- 43:59Speaker 2: in all the comments that were said before from like
- 44:01Speaker 2: previous seasons, reunions or anything like that. I felt like
- 44:04Speaker 2: they did a really good job. Okay, good.
- 44:06Speaker 1: And you felt like they were invested in your story,
- 44:09Speaker 1: in everyone's story and were paying attention. They weren't just
- 44:12Speaker 1: showing up to do a little emceeing.
- 44:14Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah. No, yeah. They were definitely invested and
- 44:16Speaker 2: I felt like they were invested in everyone equally. Like
- 44:19Speaker 2: they weren't just taking somebody's side. Even if someone was
- 44:22Speaker 2: in the wrong or didn't have a good moment, they
- 44:25Speaker 2: didn't just throw that on you. They would always also
- 44:28Speaker 2: feel like, but Hey, we did see that you did
- 44:30Speaker 2: do this, you know, on the positive side kind of thing. So, um,
- 44:34Speaker 2: which I appreciate it. Cause I know some people on
- 44:37Speaker 2: there could have gotten grilled for sure, but they were,
- 44:40Speaker 2: they were super sweet, super cool. And they were very fair. Good.
- 44:44Speaker 1: Glad to hear that. Um, what's the reaction been of fans, um,
- 44:48Speaker 1: or people that aren't fans, um, with your new found fame?
- 44:53Speaker 2: Um, Everyone's been super supportive and just really, you know,
- 44:57Speaker 2: hope that I find love. I think everyone's finally seen
- 45:00Speaker 2: like the genuine side of me and just like who
- 45:04Speaker 2: I really am. And they've been super supportive. A lot
- 45:07Speaker 2: of people were heartbroken for me. But everyone's been pretty,
- 45:12Speaker 2: you know, pretty great. Obviously, I've gotten a lot of
- 45:15Speaker 2: the backlash with the Johnny situation. But I mean, at
- 45:18Speaker 2: the end of the day, it happened. I made a mistake.
- 45:20Speaker 2: I learned from it. You know, I apologize to her. Um,
- 45:25Speaker 2: but like leaving that behind and moving forward, like everyone's
- 45:28Speaker 2: been super supportive and especially now with a new girlfriend,
- 45:31Speaker 2: like everyone's super pumped for me. So it's been pretty cool.
- 45:36Speaker 1: I think that, you know, when she said no to
- 45:40Speaker 1: you at the altar, that was really heartbreaking. Cause I
- 45:42Speaker 1: think a lot of people were rooting for you. They
- 45:44Speaker 1: thought that you were the couple out of the two
- 45:47Speaker 1: couples that could make it, um, you know, and, uh, I,
- 45:52Speaker 1: I also thought it was a little, heartbreaking that it
- 45:56Speaker 1: seemed that she had said so openly while she was
- 45:59Speaker 1: standing in front of you I love you so much
- 46:01Speaker 1: I don't want to lose you I just can't marry
- 46:04Speaker 1: you which I think makes sense right I mean it's
- 46:08Speaker 1: in reality, that makes a lot of sense. But if
- 46:10Speaker 1: she really felt that way, I would have thought she
- 46:12Speaker 1: would have continued your relationship. So it just made me
- 46:16Speaker 1: feel like, you know, it was not, you know, she
- 46:19Speaker 1: just was trying to get out of it. And that
- 46:20Speaker 1: was really heartbreaking because you really see that no matter what, uh,
- 46:25Speaker 1: curveball she throws at you, no matter her attitude, her tone,
- 46:29Speaker 1: you're always even keel and being really nice in retaliation
- 46:34Speaker 1: as opposed to getting angry. And the only time you
- 46:36Speaker 1: kind of blew up, you didn't even blow up, you
- 46:39Speaker 1: went into the closet and cried. So it's kind of
- 46:41Speaker 1: like you really come across, I think all in all
- 46:45Speaker 1: very well. And I think everyone is rooting for you.
- 46:47Speaker 1: And as you said, now we know that you do
- 46:49Speaker 1: have a girlfriend. I think at the reunion, it was
- 46:51Speaker 1: like iffy, maybe it was just something not, too big
- 46:55Speaker 1: of a deal. But in the last couple of days,
- 46:57Speaker 1: we've seen that you guys have matching tattoos that are
- 47:01Speaker 1: representing the night that you went on your first date.
- 47:04Speaker 1: It sounds like, right? Cause it says chef.
- 47:06Speaker 2: Yes. Yeah.
- 47:09Speaker 1: Explain what the tattoo means.
- 47:11Speaker 2: So we, our first date was the cooking class. And
- 47:15Speaker 2: so her and I, we just have fun with it.
- 47:18Speaker 2: Anything the chef would ask of us, you know, we'd
- 47:20Speaker 2: do the yes chef. We ever seen like bear tattoo.
- 47:23Speaker 2: And so we just stuck with it. And then when
- 47:25Speaker 2: her and I, we talk or ask for each other
- 47:27Speaker 2: for anything, we're all like, yeah, she asked for each other.
- 47:29Speaker 2: So it just stuck. And so it was crazy because
- 47:32Speaker 2: she flew out there to meet me for reunion after reunion.
- 47:35Speaker 2: So the next day after reunion is when we got
- 47:38Speaker 2: the tattoo. So I knew I was going to ask
- 47:41Speaker 2: her to be my girlfriend. I just hadn't asked her yet.
- 47:45Speaker 2: But I mean, it happened days after that.
- 47:48Speaker 1: You're so cute that you asked her to be your girlfriend,
- 47:52Speaker 1: that it wasn't just like insinuated in your behaviors. That's sweet.
- 47:56Speaker 1: Not many men do that anymore.
- 47:58Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 48:02Speaker 1: So how long have you guys been dating now?
- 48:06Speaker 2: About like a good three months now, seeing each other officially.
- 48:11Speaker 2: I want to say probably about like three weeks. Um,
- 48:15Speaker 2: but we had been hanging out getting to know each
- 48:17Speaker 2: other for about three months.
- 48:19Speaker 1: Got it. And, and did she watch all the episodes
- 48:22Speaker 1: with you?
- 48:23Speaker 2: Not with me. Um, she watched the Mexico episodes with
- 48:28Speaker 2: her friends, um, which I felt was okay. Um, she
- 48:32Speaker 2: did watch the wedding one with me. Um, and she
- 48:35Speaker 2: watched reunion with me and then like the pods and
- 48:37Speaker 2: everything else she watched on her own. So it was tough.
- 48:40Speaker 2: And honestly, I give her so much props because to
- 48:43Speaker 2: be on the other side of it, I don't know
- 48:46Speaker 2: how she did it, but she's kept her composure. If anything,
- 48:48Speaker 2: she's kept me sane through everything. She's super supportive, super calm. And,
- 48:55Speaker 2: you know, I know she didn't want to watch. I
- 48:57Speaker 2: wanted her to watch just so she can see that
- 49:02Speaker 2: like the type of man she will be getting when
- 49:04Speaker 2: she does date me. Because I am that way with
- 49:07Speaker 2: all my girlfriends. So that was kind of one reason
- 49:10Speaker 2: I did want her to watch. But I understand like
- 49:11Speaker 2: where she was coming from at the same time. But
- 49:13Speaker 2: she did. She's glad it's all over and, she has
- 49:17Speaker 2: me to herself now. And it's all good. It's great now. Good.
- 49:22Speaker 1: I love that. So after all of this, is there
- 49:25Speaker 1: something you would change about how they do the show
- 49:28Speaker 1: going forward? Now that you've watched all the seasons and
- 49:31Speaker 1: you've partaken in one of them, is there a suggestion
- 49:36Speaker 1: to make things work that you would do differently?
- 49:40Speaker 2: No, not really. I mean, obviously you've heard a bunch
- 49:43Speaker 2: of allegations in the past of them not feeding us
- 49:46Speaker 2: or not, or forcing us to drink or all that stuff.
- 49:50Speaker 2: This is what I'll say. Number one, know what you're
- 49:54Speaker 2: signing up for. Like don't sign up for something and
- 49:57Speaker 2: be a crybaby later on down the road. Reality TV
- 49:59Speaker 2: is not for everybody. So if you can't hack it,
- 50:01Speaker 2: don't do that for one. Two, they fed us. There
- 50:04Speaker 2: was food all the time. If anything, I gained weight
- 50:07Speaker 2: doing Love is Blind. And the alcohol is there whenever
- 50:10Speaker 2: you want it, but no one encourages you to drink.
- 50:13Speaker 2: Rob on the show does not drink alcohol. He never
- 50:15Speaker 2: even drank once. They never even pressured him. As far
- 50:19Speaker 2: as the sleep, I mean, we have the lounge. Use
- 50:21Speaker 2: your time wisely. If you're tired, take a nap. You
- 50:25Speaker 2: can sleep in the pod. And they have a hotel
- 50:28Speaker 2: room for us afterwards. So although I went through a heartbreak,
- 50:33Speaker 2: and emotional stress and everything like that, I would, I
- 50:36Speaker 2: would do the show again because at the end of
- 50:38Speaker 2: the day, I'm a hopeless romantic. And if I were single,
- 50:41Speaker 2: it was the best way to date.
- 50:44Speaker 1: I love that.
- 50:45Speaker 2: All right.
- 50:45Speaker 1: So you believe in the show?
- 50:47Speaker 2: Yeah, it works. Like if you really put like submit
- 50:50Speaker 2: yourself to it, it works.
- 50:52Speaker 1: Do you think that if this lasts between you and
- 50:54Speaker 1: your girlfriend, you will ask Nick and Vanessa to get
- 50:58Speaker 1: you on the ultimatum?
- 51:01Speaker 2: No way. I could never do that show. And I
- 51:04Speaker 2: have a feeling that if I do propose to this girl,
- 51:07Speaker 2: everything's going to go smooth and we're not going to
- 51:08Speaker 2: need an ultimatum. Okay, good.
- 51:10Speaker 1: I love hearing that too.
- 51:11Speaker 2: All right.
- 51:11Speaker 1: Biggest question of the day. Have you gotten regular plates?
- 51:17Speaker 2: I have. I've got plates, silverware, everything. Glasses to drink
- 51:23Speaker 2: out of.
- 51:24Speaker 1: Did you get a side table?
- 51:26Speaker 2: Yes, I got a nice stand too. And I've actually
- 51:29Speaker 2: refurnished my entire apartment. I got all new furniture. I
- 51:32Speaker 2: got rid of the Hobby Lobby decor, the live, laugh,
- 51:35Speaker 2: love stuff.
- 51:36Speaker 1: I saw there was a big conspiracy theory that you
- 51:39Speaker 1: were renting it as an Airbnb because all that stuff
- 51:44Speaker 1: looked like a girl had put that together.
- 51:47Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I actually did that all myself. It was
- 51:50Speaker 2: like decor from, I want to say like 2017, 2018.
- 51:56Speaker 2: And I just kind of brought it with me and
- 51:58Speaker 2: I just left it up. I mean, I never would
- 52:00Speaker 2: have people over to hang out during the day to
- 52:04Speaker 2: really notice. It was always, as you can see, I
- 52:06Speaker 2: had to, what was it, the little, the drawer of
- 52:10Speaker 2: the lost and found.
- 52:12Speaker 1: The lost and found.
- 52:12Speaker 2: Which that's gone, by the way. Good. But yeah, no,
- 52:15Speaker 2: it was just old decor that I had up. Pinterest, fellas,
- 52:19Speaker 2: it goes a long way. I don't know how to decorate.
- 52:22Speaker 2: That's how I got that stuff up. And that's why
- 52:24Speaker 2: it looks a little feminine.
- 52:25Speaker 1: Oh, that's so funny.
- 52:26Speaker 2: All right.
- 52:27Speaker 1: Well, again, not that there's anything wrong with it. You
- 52:29Speaker 1: have your own style and you're very cute because of it.
- 52:32Speaker 1: All right, Izzy, am I missing anything else that you
- 52:35Speaker 1: want to talk about or get across?
- 52:41Speaker 2: Not really. No, pretty easy going. All right.
- 52:45Speaker 1: Well, so what what are you doing now for work?
- 52:49Speaker 1: What are you what's going on in your life now?
- 52:52Speaker 2: I do insurance. I'm still doing the insurance. Yeah. I
- 52:55Speaker 2: had left back to my old job. So originally I
- 52:57Speaker 2: did business sales for AT & T. I did that
- 53:00Speaker 2: for like eight years. Left that to do Love is Blind,
- 53:04Speaker 2: but I left on good terms. So I knew I
- 53:05Speaker 2: could come back. And plus I was just bored with it.
- 53:07Speaker 2: I wanted a challenge and like a more, what do
- 53:12Speaker 2: they call it? Work-life balance. And so that's why I
- 53:15Speaker 2: did the insurance. It was a better schedule. I could
- 53:17Speaker 2: take time off. I wanted to start traveling and doing
- 53:19Speaker 2: all that. Um, then I ended up going back to
- 53:21Speaker 2: AT & T, um, uh, after Love is Blind, like
- 53:26Speaker 2: a few months ago, but the insurance I was doing
- 53:29Speaker 2: so well at it, uh, I just like stuck with that.
- 53:32Speaker 2: So now that's what I'm doing, but now just like
- 53:34Speaker 2: maximizing with any opportunities that come with this.
- 53:37Speaker 1: And yeah, I saw, I saw, it looks like on
- 53:40Speaker 1: your Instagram, you're doing like barter deals or you're doing like,
- 53:43Speaker 1: you know, going to a spa and promoting the spa and.
- 53:46Speaker 2: Doing all that stuff.
- 53:49Speaker 1: Welcome to fame, Izzy.
- 53:51Speaker 2: Good luck with all that. Thank you.
- 53:54Speaker 1: And no, I think the people watching really adore you.
