- 0:57So we're going to be going through Hebrews starting in
- 1:01verse 18 tonight. That's where we're going to get
- 1:05started. So before we do that though, I
- 1:08would probably have Andrew open us up with a word of prayer.
- 1:12Alright, let's pray. God, we thank you so much for
- 1:16the scripture that we're able to go through and we know that it's
- 1:20sure we know that it's it's not going to ever change.
- 1:23It's not going to ever be bent or broken or compromised in any
- 1:26way, but that it's always going to stand.
- 1:30And I just pray that we would get the full weight of it
- 1:33tonight and we wouldn't be able to, that we wouldn't be dancing
- 1:38around the seriousness of it and some pretty hard stuff we're
- 1:44going to discuss tonight and hard exhortations.
- 1:47We pray for your Spirit to lead us and to guide us in everything
- 1:50we say in Jesus name, Amen. Amen.
- 1:54All right, I'm going to read verses 18 through 21.
- 2:00It says, For ye are not come unto the mouth that might be
- 2:04touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and
- 2:08darkness, and Tempest, and the sound of a trumpet, and the
- 2:12voice of words, which voice they that heard and treated, that the
- 2:16word should not be spoken to them anymore, where they could
- 2:20not endure that which was commanded.
- 2:22And if so much as a beast touched the mountain, it shall
- 2:27be stoned, or thrust through with a dart.
- 2:30And so terrible was a sight that Moses said by exceedingly fear
- 2:36and quake so long and but then the next word is but and then
- 2:41he's going to contrast this what he's saying here with this the
- 2:47other side of the coin here. He's he's it could be a contrast
- 2:51situation here coming off of the heels of of course, you know,
- 2:56faith. And then we talked about last
- 3:00week a lot about the chastisement.
- 3:04If you are a true son and not a a bastard or a illegitimate son,
- 3:12then you will be chastened sometimes in your life.
- 3:17And we talked about how that this this is a sure sign of a
- 3:23true believer is that he will get chastened because of a
- 3:27bastard or illegitimate son. A would not.
- 3:32And this of course, in context would be these people that are
- 3:37claiming Jesus, but are hanging on to the law and their their
- 3:42salvation by the law, but using, you know, the gospel as
- 3:48secondary, secondary thing or whatever.
- 3:50So he's making that point. And of course, right before
- 3:56this, he's talking about Esau having he was rejected and even
- 4:06though he looked for repentance carefully with tears, it says it
- 4:12wasn't available because he rejected this at the same way
- 4:18with us, you know, if we reject Christ, there's no more hope or
- 4:23whatever. So anyway, now he's just simply
- 4:26talking about us not coming to this physical place, but he's
- 4:32going to talk about what we are actually a part of here in a
- 4:36minute. But any thoughts on these versus
- 4:38or prior Edward? Yeah, I think it's versus that
- 4:44we don't touch them as much as we should.
- 4:46Probably God thought it necessary to tell us, tell these
- 4:53believers that are struggling and that are being deceived by
- 4:56Judaizers. And he's telling them, look,
- 5:00this is this. He spent what, 11 chapters or 10
- 5:05chapters talking about how the sacrifice of Christ and, and
- 5:09where he came from and all the things that he's done.
- 5:11He's much better. And in chapter 10, he talked a
- 5:16lot about the significance of the offering of Christ, how it
- 5:20perfected us forever. That's really good news it He
- 5:24took our sins away once and for all to never be remembered.
- 5:28They're gone. And so that's what the blood of
- 5:31Christ offers, complete freedom, complete deliverance, and also
- 5:37the death and resurrection promises freedom from sin and a
- 5:43new life in God, a new creature. And a lot of that is lived out
- 5:50based on faith in believing what God has promised in spite of our
- 5:54physical reality and what we feel.
- 5:57And so he challenged us with faith in the entire chapter of
- 6:0211. And then now in 12, he's telling
- 6:05us if we have such such an opportunity, such an offering
- 6:10that takes away our sins, that takes away everything that
- 6:15perfects us and we're completely covered.
- 6:18We're we're ready to be presented before God, blameless
- 6:23and just don't go back to the law and also don't walk in sin.
- 6:30Like it just said, like in the verses prior, like fornications
- 6:34and profane people. He's like, we have something way
- 6:37better than that. And then in these verses that
- 6:41you just read, he's talking about, you know, if Moses, that
- 6:45mountain back in that time under that covenant, if you touch that
- 6:50mountain, you die. It was so dark, it was so
- 6:53horrifying on that mount that Moses was quaking and shaking.
- 7:00That's how serious it was. It was like life and death.
- 7:04And if you didn't do the right thing, you died.
- 7:06And he's like, look, we have a sprinkling, we have a blood, we
- 7:11have a Jesus that made us right with God.
- 7:16Don't lay it aside like Esau did over comfort because you're
- 7:21hungry, because things are tough.
- 7:23Don't start walking in sin. Don't allow sin walking.
- 7:27The victory that we have, we have something much better than
- 7:30even that. And he's telling us he's
- 7:33actually challenging us. This is the challenge that I
- 7:35think that we need to get that he's telling us like look, if if
- 7:40that was the the just recompense of reward for the ones that
- 7:44disobeyed God back then and they touched the mountain and died.
- 7:47How much more punishment will you have?
- 7:50If you have a much better sacrifice, a much better, better
- 7:54way, a free gift and you're going to reject it for something
- 7:57else and you're going to walk in sin and count that offering
- 8:00lightly. You're not going to take that
- 8:02offering serious and you're not going to honor it and respect it
- 8:06and walk in righteousness because of that amazing gift
- 8:09that you have, then go to hell. Like it's way worse.
- 8:14It's way worse to reject Jesus Christ than it was to touch the
- 8:18mountain unclean or to do what Aaron was doing according to
- 8:21what I see here, according to what Aaron did with the people
- 8:24and they made a calf and God was upset and 30,000 died.
- 8:29How much more do you think we're going to get punished if we
- 8:31reject? If you get to know who Jesus
- 8:33was, if you've tasted like you said early in the chapters, if
- 8:36you've tasted the good word of God and you have known the
- 8:39gospel and you reject it and you go back to the thing that that
- 8:43was terrifying. It's not going to go well for
- 8:46us. And that's not law.
- 8:48That's just saying we have such grace, such mercy that if you
- 8:52reject that, you're just a total idiot and you're going to like,
- 8:55there's no, it's going to be really bad if you reject this
- 8:58gospel is what I would see in this passage.
- 9:01Yeah, what you were referring to there was in Hebrews 10 verse
- 9:0529, where it says How much sore punishment suppose ye shall be
- 9:09thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and
- 9:12have counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith He was
- 9:15sanctified and unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the
- 9:20spirit of grace. Yeah, I would say he's building
- 9:23on that here. Wouldn't you?
- 9:24Yeah. Sure.
- 9:26OK. My screen got all messed up
- 9:28according to the order that it was in prior.
- 9:30I don't know if yours did out of the bottom corner now.
- 9:33But anyway, Melvin, go ahead. Yeah, I so honestly here he's
- 9:39talking about, you know, Mount Sinai and he's referring to like
- 9:44Andrew was saying, he's referring to that as the law,
- 9:48you know that. And he's going to contrast that
- 9:52in the, in the next verses with, you know, who Christ is and his
- 9:58Kingdom and his heavenly Kingdom.
- 10:01But I think it, it's really important that we read this and
- 10:06understand this, that, that we understand what Christ did for
- 10:11us, actually for us. You know, we have the the
- 10:16scriptures and we can read the scriptures and we read through
- 10:20these accounts like Mount Sinai, you know, and we really don't
- 10:23think about it actually, you know, what it was like for the
- 10:28children of Israel there and Moses and Aaron when there was
- 10:33no grace, like there was no, there wasn't Christ grace and
- 10:37mercy there. And so it was the law like you,
- 10:41they could not touch that mountain, not even a beast.
- 10:44I mean it, it says there you read that account that they had
- 10:47to put a fence around it or whatever so that for sure
- 10:51nothing would touch that mountain.
- 10:53And I one thing I wasn't quite sure was it says, it says there
- 11:01that the sound of the trumpet and the voice of the words which
- 11:06the voice that they heard and treated that the word should not
- 11:09be spoken to them anymore. I was, I had looked up that
- 11:14account. It's in Genesis, this account,
- 11:17but I couldn't really find. They was just saying, you know,
- 11:21how God came down there on Mount Sinai there and it was like it
- 11:26described the lightnings and the thunderings and how awful it
- 11:30actually was that the presence of God was coming down there on
- 11:35Mount Sinai, or not the presence, but God himself was
- 11:37coming on the mount. But I couldn't really find
- 11:40anything about the boy. He did speak.
- 11:42It says there that God spoke to Moses and the people heard it,
- 11:46but that's all it says. So I'm not sure.
- 11:49It it's actually it's Exodus. It's Exodus 20 and verse 19.
- 11:54It's after this happens, they said unto Moses, Exodus 2019.
- 11:59They said unto Moses, speak thou with us and we will hear, but
- 12:03let not God speak with us, lest we God.
- 12:06Yeah, that's what that's what he's referring to.
- 12:08Is that right there? That makes sense.
- 12:12So it was. It's not the Genesis account,
- 12:14but it's later. In Exodus, yeah.
- 12:18Yeah. So I, it's just important for
- 12:20us, I think to like, there's a reason he put this in here,
- 12:24right, for us to understand. Look like he's still contrasting
- 12:29the law versus. Christ, that's right.
- 12:33Yeah, yeah, I agree. Yeah, that's actually what I was
- 12:41kind of going to point to is, is this this particular thing he's
- 12:45referring back to? Is this Exodus I think account,
- 12:48I think that's what he's referring back to there in
- 12:50Exodus, probably in probably even in that verse or chapter
- 12:5420. But how that the mountain burned
- 12:58with fire. And like I said, they made that
- 13:00comment that you just talked to us.
- 13:04We can't stand God speaking anymore because that law he
- 13:09actually says, I mean that's what it said in verse 19, which
- 13:14voice they that heard and treated that the word should not
- 13:17be spoken to them anymore. In other words, they were so
- 13:20fearful of it and you actually it's another one of those
- 13:23tidbits we don't get in another place.
- 13:25It even says there in verse 21 that it was so terrible that of
- 13:30the side that Moses said I exceedingly fear and quake.
- 13:34Now that's actually not in that's a new tidbit.
- 13:36We don't get that tidbit from the Exodus count that Moses said
- 13:40it was so scary that I that I actually feared and quaked.
- 13:45But the verse that that reminded me of is in Second Corinthians
- 13:48chapter 3 or verses 2nd Corinthians 3 and verse 6.
- 13:53It says this, Who also hath made us able ministers of the New
- 13:58Testament, not of the letter, but of the Spirit.
- 14:02For the letter killeth, but the Spirit giveth life.
- 14:07But if the ministration of death written and engraved in stones,
- 14:11like you know, like the 10 commandments wrote on stones,
- 14:14written and engraved in stones, was glorious, so the children of
- 14:18Israel could not steadfastly behold the face of Moses for the
- 14:21glory of his countenance, which glory was to be done away.
- 14:26How shall, how shall not the ministration of the Spirit be
- 14:30rather glorious? For if the ministration of
- 14:33condemnation be glory, much more does the ministration of
- 14:37righteousness exceed in glory. So they, they interpreted it
- 14:45right, when God comes down and gives this law, do this, don't
- 14:50do this, all these things, it was ministering death on them,
- 14:54right? I mean, it really was, it was,
- 14:56it was just a handing out of rules that they would not keep
- 15:00and could not keep and was going to bring death on them and they
- 15:04were afraid of it, right? I mean, that's that's his that's
- 15:06his point here in Hebrews 1218 to 18 through 21 is it was a
- 15:12terrible sight. It was fearful like it scared.
- 15:16And like I said, we, you don't get that from the Exodus
- 15:18account, but it scared even Moses, like he goes up in the
- 15:21mouth unlike everybody else because he's called, but he was
- 15:25afraid of it, right? I mean, he's scared of this.
- 15:28And this is a very like I said, it's, it's a well, you all
- 15:35already said this, but it is a contrast.
- 15:37But he's making the point first, how fearful it was when God
- 15:43spake, how terrible it was and how serious it was and how
- 15:47actually that's what he said in Corinthians in that verse 6, he
- 15:52said the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
- 15:57In other words, I guess you could, I know we've said this
- 16:01maybe before. It does potentially have life
- 16:06with it if you keep it all, but it actually is a ministration of
- 16:11death. It actually kills, not makes
- 16:14alive. It's like Galatians says that if
- 16:16the law could have given life, then there would be no need to
- 16:19seek for the second, you know? So there's really not life in
- 16:23this law. There's actually just
- 16:25condemnation and death in it. And that's why they were afraid,
- 16:29right? I mean, they were, they were
- 16:31afraid of that. And then you haven't read those
- 16:33verses, but he's going to compare that to the to the New
- 16:37Testament and to Christ. And how much?
- 16:40How much different mess, how much, how much more of a
- 16:44different message it is you know in comparison?
- 16:47Right. Yeah, go ahead.
- 16:50I was just going to say, yeah, I had that wrong.
- 16:53I said Genesis, it was Exodus 20, that or 19 where the account
- 16:58is. I should have kept on reading.
- 17:00I read 19 and I didn't keep on reading.
- 17:02I said that wrong. It was actually Exodus 19.
- 17:05I think I, but I'm glad you pointed that out because I just
- 17:08had a thought when you were talking about that, if you think
- 17:10about it. So up to this point, right up to
- 17:14this Mount Sinai account is happening, there was no law like
- 17:19every man did. I think if I remember correctly,
- 17:21it said every man did what is was right in their own eyes,
- 17:24right. So they had no law up till now.
- 17:29And it is a terrible thing. It's death.
- 17:30I'm glad you pointed that out there.
- 17:33Yeah, and, and two, you know, sometimes we don't appreciate
- 17:38what we have unless we see what we don't have.
- 17:43You know, like to, you know, people want to nowadays, you
- 17:47hear a lot of people talking about where the verses were
- 17:50talks about fearing God. They want to say, well, that's a
- 17:53reverent, you know, supposed to be a reverent fear.
- 17:55I disagree with that actually. I think that word fear is just
- 17:58simply the word fear. And here is why.
- 18:01You know, like if you were to fall into the hands of a God
- 18:05that is omnipotent and you don't have your sins forgiven by the
- 18:10Son of God, that it would be a terrible like, like it would be
- 18:15a a terrible, terrible, terrible situation because our city is
- 18:19great and his merciful beds righteousness doesn't perfect
- 18:23us. And, and think about this
- 18:26example, he, he actually tells them, well, well, if you go back
- 18:31and read the account, Moses goes up, God calls him to come up in
- 18:35the mountain. He goes up and he just, I mean,
- 18:37he hasn't the more than got there.
- 18:39And God says, turn around and go back less.
- 18:42You know, they're trying, they're getting too close.
- 18:44They're trying to peek in here and see me.
- 18:46And he says, lest I break forth on them.
- 18:48So Moses actually Moses is like, oh Lord, you've you've commanded
- 18:53them not to. And he says, Moses, get down
- 18:55there and tell them not to get too close.
- 18:58So they were actually getting close and going to maybe try to
- 19:01peek up in the cloud and see if they can see God or I don't know
- 19:03what they were going to do, but but here's my point.
- 19:07God says if they get too close, they are undefiled.
- 19:11Evidently the animals are even undefiled because he says if
- 19:14they get too close, death is just going to reach out and grab
- 19:17them, right? I'm just going to kill them.
- 19:20I'm going to break forth on them and kill them.
- 19:22So that's, I think that's the other thing we're going to see
- 19:26here is this law is it's going to bring destruction.
- 19:33Whereas in the contrast of this in 22 to through 24, where God's
- 19:39bringing life through this, right?
- 19:41In other words, it was it was literally death.
- 19:44It was literally don't get too close because you're undefiled
- 19:48and you're going to be consumed by me.
- 19:51You know, like, hence the end of the chapter.
- 19:53He's a consuming fire. He's going to consume what is
- 19:55defiled. But then the new message is
- 19:58going to be that he's got a blood that speaks better than
- 20:01what Abel did, and there's life and acceptance in this, but it
- 20:06was not that way. Yeah, Yep, 100%.
- 20:11I don't, I don't think that we would know what light is unless
- 20:14we have seen darkness. You know, if we wouldn't know
- 20:17anything other than light, that we wouldn't know what, you know,
- 20:19what it is. You know, that's kind of what
- 20:21he's doing here. He's showing us what what we've
- 20:24been delivered, part of what we've been delivered from.
- 20:26So Andrew, if you want to, if you have something that you want
- 20:30to interject, you just need to either raise your head or now on
- 20:33mutech, I got you muted because of that noise again.
- 20:35So, or, or you can, whatever you just click on, if you click on
- 20:42hang on a second. Yeah, if you, if you click on
- 20:44that, put your clicker over your face.
- 20:48Well then, just hit that little microphone looking thing and
- 20:50that'll that'll on mute. OK, so 2223 and 24 say, But ye
- 20:57are come, but big. But there be are come unto Mount
- 21:02Zion and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly
- 21:06Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, to the
- 21:10General Assembly and Church of the first born which are written
- 21:14in heaven, and to God the Judge of all and to the spirits of
- 21:18just men made perfect. Oh, I like that.
- 21:22And to Jesus, the mediator of the new covenant, and to the
- 21:26blood of sprinkling that speaketh better things than that
- 21:31of Abel. So so now we get the what he's
- 21:36actually contrasting to. Go ahead and I got you.
- 21:43Oh yeah, he's, he's doing his contracting again.
- 21:50And what I see is that when, when he's asking us to, to
- 22:02multiply or to add and count the costs, it's like under the old
- 22:09covenant, this is what happened. And this is what the reward was
- 22:12for what they, how they acted. In other words, on that
- 22:16mountain, you didn't want to come up closer.
- 22:18You got you died. And he's telling us you don't
- 22:22want to meet God based on your condition.
- 22:26Like in your condition, you don't want to meet him like that
- 22:29without, with the blood of Abel or the blood of bulls and goats.
- 22:33And you started going up that mountain, you're dead.
- 22:36If I started going up to that mountain thinking, you know
- 22:39what, I lived in righteousness in the last month, I didn't, I
- 22:43didn't get really mad. I didn't say a lot of cuss words
- 22:46and I'm actually feeling pretty good about myself.
- 22:49I'm going to start up that mountain.
- 22:50I've had a pretty good record in the last six months, actually,
- 22:52I've been doing pretty good. I start up that mountain, you
- 22:55know, I'm like, you know, I'm circumcised.
- 22:58I, I get some of these things that God pleases God and I kept
- 23:02the garden pretty good. I'm going to start up that
- 23:04mountain. You're going to be dead.
- 23:05You're going to die. You'd be fearful, be trembling.
- 23:09And he's telling us that's the way it was back then.
- 23:12And now we have this blood that speaks much better things than
- 23:15that of Abel. It's the kind of blood that
- 23:18makes men perfect. And we're we're in a in the
- 23:25company of innumerable angels that witnessed the sacrifice,
- 23:31that witnessed the blood and that witnessed, I believe us
- 23:33coming to Christ. They witnessed us believe in the
- 23:36gospel and it's innormable. We got all kinds of witnesses
- 23:40that are going to say, yeah, they believe Christ and we're
- 23:44under the blood and we're under redemption.
- 23:48And again, we need to count the cost.
- 23:51The way you can tell someone is not valuing this gospel that we
- 23:54have is when we start walking loosely, like walking in sin.
- 23:58You don't value. We don't value.
- 24:00We've been drawn away from the value and the power and the
- 24:03preciousness of the sacrifice and the forgiveness that we have
- 24:07and the power to live above it. It's kind of like buying a, a
- 24:11brand new pair of boots as long times you don't want to get in
- 24:14the mud or when you do get in the mud, you bring them home,
- 24:16you wash them. But after a while, if they get a
- 24:19little older, you just kind of let them be dirty.
- 24:22But the gospel is so significant, if we would
- 24:24understand it, we wouldn't want to get it anywhere close to sin
- 24:27where it would get defiled in any way or make the appearance
- 24:30if you're filing it or getting in the mud, like it'd be like
- 24:32dropping a diamond in the mud. And also the way you know you
- 24:37don't value the gospel, the significance of the, the full
- 24:40sacrifice is when you start keeping some kind of law, then
- 24:43you are undermining the value that that gospel had.
- 24:47And you're saying it's not quite as good as it says it is.
- 24:50And it it, it doesn't have the power of attorney's status that
- 24:54it claims to have to where it can call you perfect where to
- 24:58call you sanctified, set apart, ready to meet God, Everything's
- 25:02done and it was a gift. So anytime that somebody still
- 25:09preaches any kind of law, that makes sense why Paul would say
- 25:13that if you keep one, if you if you try to keep one law and you
- 25:17break one law and you're guilty of the whole thing, that's
- 25:19counting that's that's adding correctly.
- 25:22That is, if value, putting the right kind of value on the
- 25:27sacrifice is when you understand that if you keep, if you need to
- 25:32keep one part of the law, if you if you keep, if you're under the
- 25:36law and you don't keep everyone of them, if you break one,
- 25:39you're guilty of the whole thing.
- 25:41If you're circumcised, you're falling from grace because
- 25:44you're not valuing this sacrifice as a perfect
- 25:48sacrifice, you're undermining it.
- 25:50So those verses make a lot of sense, lot more sense than I
- 25:53ever did before. Why?
- 25:54I always wondered, why would he say that that's so harsh?
- 25:57It's because we're not adding properly.
- 26:01He says that if, if the people were punished so severely back
- 26:07on that mount scenario deal there, how much more you think
- 26:11you're going to get punished if you do not count the blood
- 26:14correctly, If you counted an unworthy thing, an unholy thing.
- 26:17And just like, well, you know what?
- 26:18It's not working. And so let's embrace that faith
- 26:22challenge and know that that blood is actually sufficient.
- 26:25The sacrifice is sufficient, always will be, and never, ever
- 26:29go back to some kind of law. And if you do, you said as your
- 26:33conscience is seared, your conscience is fright, and you've
- 26:35been listening to the doctrines of devils and you've fallen from
- 26:38grace. And that's the way I'm going to
- 26:42call it. It's straight.
- 26:43And you do any of those things, might as well say you're not a
- 26:48believer. You've fallen from faith and
- 26:50just departed. And that's the expectation here
- 26:52in Hebrew. It's a perfect free gift that
- 26:54you can walk in and believe in and trust in at full confidence,
- 26:57fully persuaded, a true anger of the soul, not removed,
- 27:01unshakable sure foundation. But if the moment you lose
- 27:06confidence in that, it's worse than the not keeping the law.
- 27:12How often do we discredit the cleansing power of Jesus, like
- 27:17say, yeah, I don't have a new creation in God, but you know,
- 27:21we go and make excuses for this and go and, yeah, deal with this
- 27:25stuff that that passed away with the old man.
- 27:27Kind of, yeah. Make a lot of excuses like,
- 27:29well, it was the flesh or Satan made me do it.
- 27:31Yeah, it was the old man or it's in, you know, the sinful nature.
- 27:35We make all these excuses. That's all undermining the work
- 27:38of Christ and it's not counting the value.
- 27:41It's not we're not evaluating the cross enough.
- 27:44Like I just and and my friend that died, he had a a 45 Colt
- 27:51long rifle that I found in the pile of trash in a nice box in a
- 27:57nice like a nice cloth wrapped up.
- 28:01And it's 24 karat gold plated, long rifle, Colt lever action,
- 28:07gold plated. And you know, that makes you
- 28:11handle that gun a little different, you know, like you
- 28:13value that gun different than any other gun.
- 28:16And I'm not going to go out and deer hunt with like, you know.
- 28:19And so if we would value anytime I am tempted to walk and sin or
- 28:26go back to the law or lust or fornicate like you was just
- 28:29mentioning in the mercy class, it's because I'm not remembering
- 28:34the value and the significance of the victory that I have in
- 28:37Christ. Good.
- 28:39Stuff, Belvin Yeah. So to me, like, so if you're
- 28:44going to live by the law, like if you're going to go back to
- 28:47the law and live by the law, you're not, you're never going
- 28:50to know if you're good enough or if you're doing things good
- 28:54enough, right? I mean, you're always in doubt.
- 28:57And what he's contrasting here is what he's doing here is he's
- 29:02showing us in Christ when we put our faith in the grace of Christ
- 29:07in Christ alone, it's like a position.
- 29:10He's showing us a position that we have in Christ.
- 29:14So if you read it, he says, but ye are calm unto Mount Zion.
- 29:19So in other words, this is not, I mean, yes, someday we are
- 29:23going to go to the and be part of like the New Jerusalem is
- 29:26going to come down on this earth and we're going to be the new
- 29:28head of new earth. But he's speaking here now like
- 29:32we are calm. But ye are common to Mount
- 29:34Sinai, and unto the city of the living God, and the heavenly
- 29:38Jerusalem, and incomparable company of angels, like in other
- 29:41words, we are there now today. And the reason I know that is
- 29:45because in Ephesians 2 it says this.
- 29:49It says, But God who is rich in his mercy for his great love
- 29:54wherewith He loved us even when we were dead in sins, has
- 29:57quickened us together with Christ for by grace you're
- 30:01saved. And this is like you need to
- 30:03catch this. And then and then it says in
- 30:05verse 6IN Ephesians 26, it says and hath raised us up together
- 30:10and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus
- 30:14that is now in Christ. We are sitting in heavenly
- 30:18places with Christ, right? And that's what it's saying
- 30:23here. So it's just the contrast is so
- 30:26drastic and it's like you were saying, Andrew, is that if we
- 30:30can understand that, then we would treat the gospel of Christ
- 30:36and treat Christ with a lot. More.
- 30:39Reverence I think right I mean it's just that simple anyway
- 30:44there's a lot more things I could say about that but it's
- 30:48just so good I mean he just he the whole thing though he says
- 30:52here but. Your church you're.
- 30:54In the with the General Assembly of the Church of the First Form,
- 30:57which are written in heaven. And and you also are to Jesus
- 31:01the mediator of the new covenant to the blood of springing.
- 31:05That is speaking better things than that of Abel.
- 31:07So I it's just there's no contrast.
- 31:11I mean, yeah, there's a huge contrast, but it's just, why
- 31:15would you stray away from that, right?
- 31:18Innumerable angels in heaven, seated in heaven.
- 31:20That's good that Ephesians. We're seated in heaven like
- 31:23places in Christ Jesus, surrounded with innumerable
- 31:27angels. Yeah, that's good.
- 31:29Stuff. And we're going to walk away
- 31:31from that, and we're going to cheapen it by keeping some law
- 31:34that's ridiculous. No, Why?
- 31:36No wonder Paul calls them always liars and slow bellies.
- 31:42You're not passionate about this subject at all, are you, Andrew?
- 31:45I just don't. Oh, that's good.
- 31:48Eric going. Mad.
- 31:49It makes me really mad. You know it does.
- 31:52Me too. That's the way people just count
- 31:54God like that. Yeah, go ahead.
- 31:58I, I was going to kind of go backwards and read another verse
- 32:01from that Exodus 20 account and then go forward.
- 32:05It says in Exodus 20. I read 19 a while ago, but
- 32:12Exodus 20 and verse 18 says, and this is directly like it
- 32:17literally is the 10th commandment is spoken in verse
- 32:2017. Exodus 2017 is thou shalt not
- 32:23covet. Verse 18 says soon as he gets
- 32:26done speaking, the 10th commandment, it says, and all
- 32:28the people saw the thunderings and lightnings and noise of the
- 32:33trumpet and the mountain smoking.
- 32:35And when the people saw it, they removed and stood afar off.
- 32:39So get this picture. They have walked, Moses has
- 32:43walked up in the mountain, start with, they've all kind of
- 32:46followed him over there, got a little closer, maybe peeking up
- 32:49on it. God says get back down there and
- 32:51tell him I said get back or I'm going to consume them.
- 32:55Moses goes back down, warns them, they step back.
- 32:58God speaks the commands. That's what Exodus 20 is.
- 33:01He speaks the 10 commandments and as he is doing so, there's
- 33:06all these thunderings and lightnings and a noise of a
- 33:09trumpet and the people literally don't have to be told anymore.
- 33:12They just step back from the mountain, right?
- 33:15I mean, that's what it says. They step back away from the
- 33:18mountain. And then that's when they said
- 33:19verse 19, you just talk to us. Moses don't let God talk
- 33:23anymore. He's too terrible.
- 33:26So that's that was what they were hearing and seeing.
- 33:29And then in contrast to that, think about the like, I'm kind
- 33:35of like Andrew. It that that makes me want to
- 33:37shout a little bit all the things that is that we are
- 33:40approaching too, right? We're approaching unto Mount
- 33:43Zion. Mount Zion, which is where
- 33:45Christ will be offered. I mean, well, maybe not the
- 33:48exact spot where he's offered, but that's the place of the
- 33:50temple, right? I mean, that's Jerusalem.
- 33:52You know that Mount Zion, he says, and unto the city of the
- 33:57living God, the heavenly Jerusalem to an innumerable
- 34:01company of angels. So you've got all these angels
- 34:04that are in the crowd there to the General Assembly and Church
- 34:08of the First Born, which are written in heaven.
- 34:11That is all these people that have been cleansed, all these
- 34:15people that are accepted by God. We're approaching to that.
- 34:19We're approaching to God the judge of all and to the spirits.
- 34:23This is very key. And to the spirits of just men
- 34:26made perfect, right? So we are we're not approaching
- 34:31unto a place in which commands are being handed out that scared
- 34:35the people. We're approaching a place in
- 34:37which people have been justified, right.
- 34:40I mean that that's the. Point because we're.
- 34:42Approaching a place where people have been made perfect and verse
- 34:4624 to Jesus, the mediator of the new covenant.
- 34:49So not not the one handing out the laws, but the one that is
- 34:55kept him and is now speaking on our behalf, right.
- 34:59I mean, we've talked about that in the previous chapters,
- 35:01earlier chapters. We're approaching the mediator,
- 35:04right, not not the not the consuming fire.
- 35:07Really at this point, we're actually approaching the
- 35:10mediator that's going to speak on our behalf to the Jesus, the
- 35:14mediator, the new new covenant and to the blood of sprinkling
- 35:19that speaketh better things than that of Abel.
- 35:22And I've always loved that verse.
- 35:24Like I really like that verse because if you remember Abel,
- 35:28God says that Abel's blood, he says to Cain, that is God says
- 35:33to Cain, I hear your brother's blood crying unto me from the
- 35:38ground, right? And he was crying out.
- 35:41I mean, he doesn't use the word, but it hadn't been crying out
- 35:44for vengeance or justice, right? I mean, that's, that's what God
- 35:48hears. He hears innocent blood saying
- 35:53avenge me, right? But this blood that's sprinkled
- 35:56here from the Jesus, the mediator new covenant is
- 36:00speaking forgiveness and grace and mercy, right?
- 36:04It's, it's, it's singing a different song, if you will.
- 36:08And he says that's what we're approaching, too.
- 36:11Man, that's really good. Thanks for bringing that out.
- 36:13I was hoping you would or somebody would touch on that a
- 36:16little bit. So while you were you guys were
- 36:19talking there, I just quickly Googled what a mediator does and
- 36:27it says, and I don't know that this necessarily applies exactly
- 36:30this, just simply a Google search.
- 36:31Like on a physical level here he is a facilitator that manages
- 36:36the conversation, ensures everyone is heard and keeps the
- 36:39discussion focused and productive.
- 36:42He's a neutral guy that remains impartial, doesn't take sides,
- 36:46and he doesn't offer legal advice to decide who is right or
- 36:49wrong. You know that belongs to the
- 36:51judge. And he's a process manager,
- 36:53suggests ways to move forward. He has a reality tester, He
- 36:58helps parties assess the practicality of solutions.
- 37:02And then he's the agreement recorder.
- 37:04Once the settlement is reached, he documents the terms and
- 37:08writings and collects them for signature.
- 37:12I mean, I just thinking how that is good when you think about
- 37:16Jesus being the mediator of the new covenant, like not just your
- 37:21mediator, but he is the mediator of the Duke.
- 37:24He is the one that is overseeing this entire program.
- 37:29This entire program He did. He didn't necessarily oversee
- 37:33the law maybe, but he overseas this grace time, this time
- 37:39period that we are that we are in that that is who he is the
- 37:43mediator of and of course the mediator of the blood of
- 37:46sprinkling as well, which is part of that, that covenant.
- 37:49That's, that's beautiful. I just, I like Jesus for that.
- 37:53You know, I, I, I love God, I, I, I, but I really like Jesus
- 37:58for his role. I like that role that he has in
- 38:02our conversation with the Almighty God, right?
- 38:08I like that. That makes me feel heard.
- 38:12Like we're not just, he's not just saying, well, this is what
- 38:15God said. You do the best you can with
- 38:17that. He is actually hearing us.
- 38:20And it makes me feel valuable because he is saying that I hear
- 38:25you. And we read about that earlier
- 38:27in Hebrews. I hear you.
- 38:29I am here to hear you and represent humanity to the throne
- 38:35of God. I mean, if that doesn't make you
- 38:39happy, that I don't know what in the world.
- 38:41Ever. What?
- 38:42Well, and think about this, think about the this just kind
- 38:46of hit me, but think about what the point of a Messiah was.
- 38:50How many times did God say, I'm going to send someone in in so
- 38:54many words, so many different places, he's going to send
- 38:57somebody that's going to heal you, right?
- 39:01Yeah. So they all knew, you know, they
- 39:05knew for the they they may not have thought about it, but they
- 39:08all knew for the fact that they have to keep coming back over
- 39:12and over again that they weren't really healed.
- 39:15And the promise is I'm going to send somebody that is actually
- 39:18going to heal all of you, all that will, you know, accept this
- 39:22guy that I'm going to send. And and that's what you're
- 39:25seeing here is not a approaching in which I hope God don't strike
- 39:29me with leprosy or hope God don't just kill me dead on the
- 39:32spot or whatever. But a guy that is bringing
- 39:35healing, right? I mean, he's bringing what they
- 39:38all have needed and desired, or at least the ones that looked
- 39:42for it. We're desiring all this time,
- 39:44you know, that he's, he's saying that's what you're approaching
- 39:47to. And again, I don't know if we've
- 39:49done this tonight, but I think that puts it in context in the
- 39:54book that we're reading in, right?
- 39:56In other words, these people, he is saying to them, and I'm sure
- 39:59they were, or I hope they were, reminded of that.
- 40:03That they, when they accepted Christ because we said that this
- 40:07is a bunch of Hebrews that have accepted Christ, but are being
- 40:10tempted to pull back from him. I think when they accepted him,
- 40:14they saw the healing in him, right?
- 40:16I mean, that they, they, they tasted the good gift.
- 40:19They appreciated what he had to offer.
- 40:22And he's saying, listen, don't go back and face the mountain.
- 40:25That was terrible. You're already in the, the
- 40:29innumerable company of angels, right?
- 40:31I mean, you're already at the right spot.
- 40:33Don't turn around and go back to something that is fearful.
- 40:36And I think that's, you know, that's I'm sure he's saying this
- 40:39for a purpose right here. Yeah, no, that's that's that's
- 40:44so good. I I like to where it says, and
- 40:46I'll read verse 25 here, but where he says, but ye are come
- 40:51unto the mount science that is present tense.
- 40:54You know, that is a current condition right now and it's not
- 40:59something that we're striving to or reaching for.
- 41:02That's right. We are and and now saying, you
- 41:05know, that that represents the presence of God, right?
- 41:08I mean on the on the mountain with Moses, it was a present, it
- 41:11was God himself there. And like saying now with the
- 41:14with the temple, you know, was it is where God resides.
- 41:19It is going to reside again. So and he's saying you are here.
- 41:25This is where you are, not on this mountain, not on, not over
- 41:28here, but on in the presence of God.
- 41:32No, no, that's actually XI meant to bring that out earlier.
- 41:34That's a good point, because think about it. 1 mountain is
- 41:38where law was handed out the other mountain in any form.
- 41:43You want to look it up. This mountain of sound is where
- 41:46God is approached and and atonement is made right.
- 41:50So you know that that's very key in these verses. 1 mountain law
- 41:54is handed out the other one atonements made on you know, and
- 41:58that's that's really. Good.
- 42:00Earlier I was trying to find it. We read it in Hebrews somewhere
- 42:03where it says that that we can now come to the throne or to the
- 42:07throne. Yeah, we can come to the throne
- 42:08boldly, right. And and so that's, that's the
- 42:11picture I'm getting as you're speaking, Aaron, right?
- 42:15We we now have access directly to God through Christ, right?
- 42:23So good, Andrew, you had unmuted yourself.
- 42:25You were going to say something. I was going to highlight a
- 42:29little bit what I think about the word mediator.
- 42:33You guys hit it pretty well. I I would take it a little
- 42:36deeper maybe, which I think you meant it that way as well.
- 42:39He's also, he's also like a legal attorney.
- 42:45He didn't he, he fulfilled all the legalities of the law.
- 42:51Like he didn't just bypass God's character, his righteousness and
- 42:56say, oh God, God's just going to be gracious.
- 42:59No, it cost him everything that it cost him his death.
- 43:04It cost him suffering. What what Christ is off, what
- 43:08God is offering to us is not free.
- 43:10It's not cheap. It's the most expensive thing.
- 43:14Like again, we're not valuing it right.
- 43:16And then to have a mediator that is the mediator's actually the
- 43:22one that purchased us that that's incredible.
- 43:27The one that is representing us, that is our Moses, that is
- 43:32between US and God, that is talking to God on our behalf and
- 43:36telling us what God is saying. And he's our communication
- 43:39channel. He's now our sin management
- 43:43channel like channel like he, he took care of our sins.
- 43:47He placed us in heavenly places, right among innumerable angels.
- 43:53That's a mediator right there. I mean, the best attorney that
- 43:56ever lived. He's not just representing us.
- 44:00He also died for us. Place attorney can just in the
- 44:05parts of law here, attorney can just like that mediator.
- 44:09He's trying to take the heat off.
- 44:11He's trying to take the heat away from you.
- 44:15Call the judge so that you get a lesser sentence or maybe not get
- 44:18sentence at all. In this case, this attorney,
- 44:21this mediator, he took all the heat himself, legally took my
- 44:27place. Now he's a mediator.
- 44:31It's incredible. That's.
- 44:33So good, I love it. Yeah, man, not only the mediator
- 44:39of, but the Baker of the plan of salvation and then mediates it,
- 44:42you know. But if you, if you think about
- 44:45it, that's why he can be the mediator to such a holy God, a
- 44:51holy and just God, you know, because like Aaron was
- 44:53describing, they, the children of Israel could not like they
- 44:58were getting too close. And God said, look, they can't
- 45:00get any closer now with through Christ because like you were
- 45:04saying, Andrew, because Christ died with his own blood and took
- 45:10his own blood, like we read earlier in Hebrews up to the
- 45:13throne room of God. And now he's also our mediator.
- 45:17So he is our he's our Savior and he is our mediator.
- 45:22And that's what makes us have full access to God. 100% that's
- 45:25why he says that he's a mediator to the blood of sprinkling, not
- 45:30just the new covenant. I find it interesting that he
- 45:33specifies that he's a mediator of the blood of sprinkling.
- 45:38That's this blood is a key part. All right, let's read the next
- 45:44two verses here. See that ye refuse not him that
- 45:48speaketh. For if they escape not who
- 45:51refused him that spake on earth much more Shall not we escape if
- 45:56we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven, Whose
- 46:00voice then shook the earth? But now he has promised, saying
- 46:05yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.
- 46:12I'll stop there. And Andrew, you already pretty
- 46:16much said this. Did you undo it yourself?
- 46:26And like he's been doing all along in the book of Hebrews, he
- 46:30doesn't just hit us once or twice.
- 46:31He hits US like almost the whole chapter over and over and over
- 46:36because he knows we somehow get missing it and we still are
- 46:39missing it often. I needed this tonight.
- 46:43I needed to be reminded that in every walk, even in the case of
- 46:49what we're going through with a young man losing his life and my
- 46:53old friend dying and tragic things happening, you know, it
- 46:56kind of shakes you all up. Like I, I'm re evaluating
- 47:01everything I'm doing in this life through this.
- 47:03It, it really disorients you when something traumatic,
- 47:08terrible happens like this. It's, it's very sobering to say
- 47:13the least. And one thing that happens when
- 47:17people die is all of a sudden we have a lot of grace and a lot of
- 47:21hope for some reason when they die, even some of the worst
- 47:25sinners, like all we're looking for, something that would give
- 47:28it was a glimpse of an idea that he might have believed.
- 47:31Maybe he still believed at the end.
- 47:32You know, all of a sudden we have this goodwill towards this
- 47:36person now that they're dead, we really care and we're trying to
- 47:40find any kind of evidence that maybe they believe.
- 47:43And we're trying to not remember the bad things they did.
- 47:46We're trying to not remember any evil.
- 47:49We're trying. We just see the good and we're
- 47:51just like, man, I, I hope we believe.
- 47:53Did he understand the gospel? Did he understand the blood?
- 47:56Well, he believes it to this extent.
- 47:58I'm not sure how how well he believed it.
- 48:01And. I think we should trying to
- 48:05think that way towards people that are still alive and value
- 48:10the gospel in that way, where we are full of grace and truth and
- 48:14righteousness and where we don't compromise.
- 48:17Where we would think it would be horrible to subtract from the
- 48:20gospel and to make it a little less than what it actually is.
- 48:24And because it just seems too freeing or too vulnerable for
- 48:28people to just walk in faith. And if they don't, you know, it
- 48:31shows and you see the unbelief, you see the immaturity.
- 48:36And then we want to bring in laws to try to help that grace
- 48:39and this offering along. But the end of the day, it's
- 48:42when I die, it's going to depend whether I counted the blood of
- 48:46Christ for what it was or if I counted it a little bit less
- 48:50than what it was. And I will, I think my reward is
- 48:54going to be based on what I counted it.
- 48:56And he's telling us to not refuse him that speaketh now in
- 49:00heaven. He shook the earth back then,
- 49:02but he can also shake heaven. Don't think he's just going to
- 49:05shake the earth. He's also going to shake heaven.
- 49:08So again, like you said, Leon, I already talked about this, but I
- 49:12just want to say if if you subtract from the gospel in any
- 49:23way, that's really bad and you need to repent.
- 49:28Because like I talked told the one guy from workers comp that
- 49:34was here, they're investigating me and all this and we got to
- 49:38talking about religion and he said he had Catholic.
- 49:41He doesn't really go there anymore, but he goes, he his
- 49:44kids are there and everything. And I just say, well, this is
- 49:46what I disagree with Catholic is they say they believe the
- 49:49Gospel, but then they have priests to process sins, like
- 49:53they confess their sins to the priests.
- 49:55I said like that tells you they don't believe it.
- 49:58Like you can't believe both you can't believe in the priest
- 50:02thing and also believe that Jesus took your sins and that's
- 50:06the that's and he that took him by surprise and like I never
- 50:11thought of it that way. I said, no, it's impossible.
- 50:13You cannot say you believe that Jesus died for your sins and
- 50:16then go to the priest. You wouldn't go to the priest.
- 50:19He could believe the gospel. So you either don't believe the
- 50:22one or the other. You either serving the one and
- 50:25not the other. You can't serve both.
- 50:27Like it's impossible. So when someone comes along and
- 50:30says, oh, I believe, oh, I think you like, like the Sam of the
- 50:33Adventists and all these religious Judaizers, they'll
- 50:36say, oh, they're so worked up about the gospel, oh, the grace
- 50:39of God. But then they go back to some
- 50:42kind of loss. Then now you're a liar.
- 50:44That's why Paul calls you a liar.
- 50:46You cannot believe both. You cannot embrace both.
- 50:49You cannot believe that some of our sins are going to be
- 50:52justified based on our confessions and some other
- 50:56investigated second kind of judgment and also believe that
- 50:59Jesus Christ took our judgment. You can't believe both it's.
- 51:02Impossible. That's why God calls them liars.
- 51:06You're lying when you say you believe that, and then you also
- 51:09hold on to this. You're somebody's lying.
- 51:11Like either lying by the fact that you believe the gospel or
- 51:14you're lying about the fact that you believe in these laws in one
- 51:19area, you are lying, which makes you a liar.
- 51:22So it's time we cut it clear. One day we will be dead as sure
- 51:27as my friend and as sure as you will, you will be dead.
- 51:31And at that point, it's going to matter whether you trusted and
- 51:34counted the blood for what it was and you allow the God of
- 51:37heaven to speak to you right now, or you're letting doctrines
- 51:42of devils and things of this earth in the the mount of the
- 51:47the one that spoke on the earth speak to you.
- 51:49You want the one you want to hear what the one that's
- 51:51speaking from heaven is speaking and you want to go with it and
- 51:54nothing else. I'm telling it's serious.
- 51:58Yeah, it is that serious. It actually is, Melvin.
- 52:03Yeah, I, it seems to me like he's just saying here that, you
- 52:09know, it says seek that you refuse, not him that speaketh.
- 52:13You know, when we refuse Christ, we refuse God, right, Because
- 52:17Christ and God are, are one. And so I think it's, he's just
- 52:24important that we, he's kind of making a point here that we
- 52:28don't refuse Christ because if we do, we're refusing him that
- 52:33speaketh and, and him that not only speaketh that that earth is
- 52:38going to shake, but also that that shakes the heavens.
- 52:41Because, you know, someday in, in Genesis Revelations, it tells
- 52:46us, you know, that he's going to burn up this heaven and earth,
- 52:51not just the earth. And there's going to be a new
- 52:53heaven and a new earth. And so back on Mount Sinai, it
- 52:58was, you know, the earth shook, but God's voice can also shake
- 53:04the heavens. So.
- 53:07Yep, very bad, Aaron. I don't know.
- 53:12I just want I guess I'm more asking this than saying it for
- 53:15sure. But I wonder when he says see
- 53:18that you refuse, not him that speaketh for if they escape, not
- 53:22who refused him that speak on earth.
- 53:24How much more shall we not escape if we turn away from him
- 53:29that speaketh from heaven? And and I don't I don't know.
- 53:32I'm just asking this, I guess, but do you think that would have
- 53:35any reference to when I guess twice that God said this is my
- 53:41beloved son and whom will please?
- 53:43Like I wonder if there's any reference to that in there,
- 53:46because that was a if there is the reason I'm saying this is is
- 53:51because God is not just think about all the ways he confirmed
- 53:57Jesus to be the one that he was sent.
- 54:00You know, Jesus says of himself, if you don't believe me, believe
- 54:03me for the work's sake, right. In other words, they even said
- 54:06no man could do these things except God be with him.
- 54:09And then at least twice there on the mount transfiguration and
- 54:13when Jesus is baptized by John, God actually speaks and says
- 54:18this is my son, you know, like he actually says something about
- 54:22him. So I don't know.
- 54:23I don't I'm not sure if there's a reference to that in here, but
- 54:27I do know that that it is true that Christ is he was confirmed
- 54:34by many different points to be the one that God was going to
- 54:39send to save his people. And and like you all already
- 54:44said, this is just another exhortation that don't, this has
- 54:50been confirmed from heaven, right?
- 54:52I mean, this has been, this is God speaking from heaven.
- 54:55This is Jesus speaking. So don't reject this because
- 55:00they couldn't get away when they rejected.
- 55:03And here again, I don't even know.
- 55:04I'm not sure if they're referring to Moses speaking on
- 55:08earth or God coming down sitting on top of the mountain and
- 55:10speaking himself from earth and refusing that.
- 55:13Like I'm not sure which one he's referencing here, but but the
- 55:18point is they rejected something that was spoke on Earth and he's
- 55:23warning them not to reject something that has been
- 55:26confirmed even from the heavens. But.
- 55:29Yeah, Yeah. I don't know either.
- 55:31I was trying to figure that out too, whether it was that or was
- 55:36he the angels or what, you know, that rejected him.
- 55:39I don't, I don't know. Yeah, that.
- 55:42Well, the only thing I was. Oh, sorry, go.
- 55:45Ahead. No, go ahead.
- 55:47I was just going to say that that's that's why I wasn't sure
- 55:49because if you go back and read that, what we read earlier, the
- 55:52Exodus 20 account, God technically was set down on top
- 55:58of Mount Sinai and speaking. But then they also said you
- 56:02speak to us, Moses, and don't let God speak to us.
- 56:05So I think it could be either one.
- 56:07I think they could be referring to to Moses speaking to them and
- 56:10them not keeping his sayings, or the fact that God was speaking
- 56:15and them not keeping his sayings, you know, rejecting
- 56:18that message. But I don't know.
- 56:21But that's why I thought that. Yeah, the only reason I would in
- 56:24my mind, I think it it's God's voice speaking because it says
- 56:30the voice whose voice then shook the earth.
- 56:33If you, if you look in many verses where it talks about
- 56:36especially in Revelations, it talks about the voice of God.
- 56:40It says it has, it has a sound of many waters.
- 56:45So it, it's like this rumbling, like really loud in my mind.
- 56:49It's like shakes everything, right.
- 56:51So that's the only reason I. Would have thought that, but.
- 56:55Yeah, well, I believe it. Yeah.
- 56:56I mean, it was obviously God's voice that shook the earth,
- 56:59right? I mean so.
- 57:00That's right. Yeah.
- 57:02Yeah, I guess I was looking at it in the idea because God came
- 57:06down to earth on the mountain and was there speaking nice in
- 57:11heaven, speaking through his Son and Jesus Christ is back up into
- 57:15heaven and it's like don't refuse the new covenant that
- 57:18he's speaking now. Like don't refuse that I and
- 57:24another thought that I forgot because every to manage every,
- 57:30every law minded person has a good reason.
- 57:36If you want to call the good reason for being under law, it's
- 57:38because they're they just think that they see that Christians
- 57:42are just kind of LAX and they don't appreciate the
- 57:45righteousness of God and they don't want to live in holies and
- 57:47unrighteousness. But if we would count the
- 57:50significance and the power that is in the cross, we would also
- 57:54not have any tolerance. We would live a way more
- 57:58righteous life than we would by just understanding the weight of
- 58:01the law. The weight and the power of the
- 58:04cross should make us way more. It should change us from within
- 58:08our heart to where we are pure in heart.
- 58:11We have goodwill towards each other, like Leon taught at one
- 58:14of the camps. Like when we have genuine
- 58:16goodwill towards one another, we wouldn't defraud each other, We
- 58:19wouldn't lie, we wouldn't cheat, we wouldn't gossip.
- 58:22We're just got goodwill because of who we are.
- 58:26So much so to the point that where in Romans 6 he says, shall
- 58:32we continue and sin that grace may abound.
- 58:34God forbid. Like what are you talking about?
- 58:36How could we? How shall we that are dead?
- 58:39Did you not count the death of in the resurrection?
- 58:43Like how shall we? It's impossible.
- 58:46So that's where the victory is at for any of those that wonder
- 58:49where the victory is at as believers, Oh, Jesus died from a
- 58:52sin, Son, free to go. Well, you're free to not sin
- 58:56because he says we're free from sin.
- 58:58And if when the sin conversation comes up, you should preach the
- 59:01gospel in the way that people go, oh, so we can just sin, That
- 59:05means you're preaching the gospel.
- 59:07But if you preach the full gospel, it says no.
- 59:09How can you? And this sacrifice, the victory
- 59:12that we have, how could you like it wouldn't be adding up.
- 59:17We're free from sin, not free to sin.
- 59:21Yeah, big difference. You guys wanted to clarify on
- 59:24that like I'm not saying that we just should be able to send and
- 59:29that's also undermining and and subtracting from the the cross.
- 59:36Yep. Amen.
- 59:38OK, there's another hour gone just like that, so I guess we'll
- 59:43stop there. I thought surely we're going to
- 59:44finish 12 today. We are rocking.
- 59:47How close? Are we?
- 59:49Oh my. A couple verses, but that's all
- 59:51right, we'll catch that again and running starting to 13.
- 59:53There's some good stuff at 13 too.
- 59:55I just looking ahead here, but all right, that's it for today.
- 59:59As we conclude today's study, remember Hebrews 11/1.
- 1:00:02Faith is a substance of things hoped for and it's the evidence
- 1:00:05of the things not seen. I pray that your faith would
- 1:00:09reveal biblical truths more clearly than your physical eyes
- 1:00:12can perceive the things before you.
- 1:00:14Join us again next Monday as we continue to look at God's word
- 1:00:17through the substance of faith. God bless you guys.
- 1:00:20Thank you, appreciate you being on.
- 1:00:22Have a good week.
