- 0:32Speaker 3: to sit for three years and now is the MVP
- 0:34Speaker 3: of the league.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Talk of the Town.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Stay on that side, Dane Orlovsky, Oh wow, you know,

- 1:00Speaker 4: But I didn't expect it to look like this. I
- 1:02Speaker 4: thought they could win games.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Or reformation ending the games in the third quarter. If
- 1:08Speaker 3: we make this a nine point game, it's it's over.
- 1:11Speaker 3: Like they're not scoring seventeen against US buff But it's Josa,
- 1:17Speaker 3: one of the ogs.
- 1:18Speaker 2: He's an oh you think he's an og pype? Four guys,
- 1:21Speaker 2: how's Barth doing? I always like to do a wellness
- 1:23Speaker 2: check on him.
- 1:24Speaker 4: This was one of the.
- 1:25Speaker 3: Rare games that we didn't talk a ton after the game.
- 1:29Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, right. This is Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:32Speaker 5: Presented by Toyota's official website for deals by a Toyota
- 1:36Speaker 5: dot com.
- 1:39Speaker 2: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Wednesday here
- 1:43Speaker 2: at Gillette Stadium, and uh it's Evan Paul Duce Fred
- 1:48Speaker 2: Alex in the booth and we'll get right to the
- 1:50Speaker 2: news that broke last night. I mean not huge uh
- 1:56Speaker 2: you know, Luka Doncic type news. But there were some
- 1:58Speaker 2: trades this a week before the trade deadline, a couple
- 2:02Speaker 2: of trades, so who wants to im part on what
- 2:06Speaker 2: the details were?
- 2:08Speaker 6: Was the first one to drop to San Francisco along
- 2:12Speaker 6: with a seventh round pick, and they got a sixth
- 2:14Speaker 6: round pick back. And then Kyle Duggart Pittsburgh, he just
- 2:17Speaker 6: got six rounds.
- 2:19Speaker 4: No same thing.
- 2:21Speaker 2: So the seven I heard, I heard if Keon actually
- 2:26Speaker 2: plays a certain amount, they don't have to give the seventh.
- 2:28Speaker 3: That's accurate. That's accurate. Seven games with San Francisco, they
- 2:33Speaker 3: would not.
- 2:33Speaker 1: I mean, not that it matters.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Yeah, but so so let's talk about this because you
- 2:38Speaker 2: know two players who at the beginning of the year
- 2:41Speaker 2: you would say, Okay, they'll be part of the you know,
- 2:44Speaker 2: the team this year, maybe less so dugger, but we have.
- 2:48Speaker 4: It depended on when you thought that. I would have
- 2:51Speaker 4: thought that the whole off season, but not the last
- 2:53Speaker 4: two weeks of training came right, but once once it happened.
- 2:57Speaker 2: With ke On White, we had hopes that he'd find
- 2:59Speaker 2: a role.
- 3:00Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 3:00Speaker 6: I think Evan nailed it. Yesterday I brought up saying,
- 3:03Speaker 6: you know, who would trade for ke On White? What's
- 3:05Speaker 6: the need? And in reading some of the analysis of
- 3:07Speaker 6: San Francisco, they love undersized interior pass rushers, and that's
- 3:11Speaker 6: what he is. I think that's what they need. So
- 3:13Speaker 6: they'll probably give him a chance to do that and
- 3:16Speaker 6: you know, sub package roll. It won't be an every
- 3:18Speaker 6: down roll. But I think the writing has been on
- 3:20Speaker 6: the wall with both these guys since the summer and
- 3:23Speaker 6: could tell that they were trying with key On White
- 3:25Speaker 6: to figure out if you could possibly find a role,
- 3:29Speaker 6: not so much as a defensive end, but you know,
- 3:31Speaker 6: the sizes are just despared. You know, it's pretty big
- 3:34Speaker 6: disparity with key on White Way and two eighty five
- 3:36Speaker 6: between what you see with Chase On and Harold Landry.
- 3:39Speaker 6: And I mean I even look at Harold Landry really
- 3:41Speaker 6: is the prototype for this system of you know, ideally
- 3:44Speaker 6: what I think they'd like. I think maybe Chason's a
- 3:46Speaker 6: little lighter than maybe they like. Maybe I'm wrong on that,
- 3:48Speaker 6: but but I think that makes sense for San Francisco
- 3:51Speaker 6: to grab that kind of guy. He's just I mean, look,
- 3:53Speaker 6: I there was some hype on Key on White a
- 3:55Speaker 6: couple of summers ago, and you know.
- 3:57Speaker 1: How to take you nailed that. I but I just
- 4:01Speaker 1: I never warmed up to him in terms of what
- 4:03Speaker 1: does he do? Like, how can he.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Well that was the thing coming out of college. It's like,
- 4:06Speaker 2: what really would his role be in the pros because
- 4:09Speaker 2: even in college he wasn't a big sack guy. He
- 4:12Speaker 2: wasn't known as a big run stuffer.
- 4:15Speaker 1: But he had these traits classic tweener, yeah, and athletic.
- 4:18Speaker 1: I mean, he was a you know, former tight end.
- 4:21Speaker 6: But to me, he was just always so stiff, you know,
- 4:23Speaker 6: always so stiff, And I think that hurts you on
- 4:25Speaker 6: the edge, you don't get as much, bend, you don't
- 4:27Speaker 6: get as much you know, drop and dip under guys.
- 4:30Speaker 6: It's more just he's going to try to run through
- 4:32Speaker 6: an mfor's face and if that you know, that's that's
- 4:35Speaker 6: his style, right, Like that's just what he wants to do.
- 4:38Speaker 6: He wants to I mean, he's got a Hall of
- 4:39Speaker 6: Fame face and he wants to run right through somebody.
- 4:42Speaker 6: Uh So maybe he'll find some success with the forty
- 4:44Speaker 6: nine ers.
- 4:44Speaker 1: It's just he could tell that it wasn't gonna click quick.
- 4:46Speaker 2: And I think the Dugger one was well, I think
- 4:50Speaker 2: it was role, but I think a lot of it
- 4:51Speaker 2: was money too. With Dugger. Yeah where okay, well we'll
- 4:57Speaker 2: we'll spend that money.
- 4:58Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:59Speaker 3: Well, they ripped the last two years of the contract,
- 5:01Speaker 3: so they get out of paying him next year and
- 5:03Speaker 3: in twenty twenty seven. So you know, as Paul I
- 5:06Speaker 3: used to say, it's about the cash, not the cap
- 5:08Speaker 3: in that situation. But now you have that money next
- 5:12Speaker 3: off season to give Kyle Duggars ten million dollars to
- 5:16Speaker 3: somebody else, and that does factor induce I think you
- 5:19Speaker 3: nailed it on Keon White. I we talked a little
- 5:21Speaker 3: bit about this on catch twenty two, Like, the archetype
- 5:25Speaker 3: of the type of player that they want out on
- 5:26Speaker 3: the edge is six two six three two fifty two
- 5:31Speaker 3: fifty five. That is not Keon White. That's not his
- 5:34Speaker 3: body type, that's not his build. So as we move
- 5:37Speaker 3: forward here, you know, that's the type of player they're
- 5:40Speaker 3: looking for. You know, they want bend, they want explosiveness
- 5:43Speaker 3: off the ball, they want a little bit lighter, a
- 5:46Speaker 3: little yeah, like Landry Chase on Like, that's their archetype,
- 5:50Speaker 3: that's their mold at that position. So when you're looking
- 5:53Speaker 3: for possible trade candidates now, when you're looking in the
- 5:56Speaker 3: off season at the draft, like, that's that's the you know,
- 6:00Speaker 3: the frame that they're looking for at edge rusher, and
- 6:03Speaker 3: he just never fit. He never fit that type. Now
- 6:06Speaker 3: I have a little disappointed. I thought Mike Rabel and
- 6:09Speaker 3: Trell Williams might be able to work with him right
- 6:12Speaker 3: and develop some of his skills inside and maybe make
- 6:15Speaker 3: him a little bit more well rounded and get more
- 6:18Speaker 3: out of him. He was one of the few guys
- 6:20Speaker 3: that I was looking forward to seeing, you know, this
- 6:23Speaker 3: good defensive line coaching staff, Like could they develop him
- 6:26Speaker 3: and they just they couldn't. It just didn't stick.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Do you think Pardo also is that in the meantime,
- 6:33Speaker 2: Keon White wasn't showing any patience, Like.
- 6:36Speaker 6: I mean, he's I feel like he was a guy
- 6:38Speaker 6: who talked last year a little bit about frustrations, and
- 6:41Speaker 6: I mean, he clearly wears his emotions on his face,
- 6:44Speaker 6: like you could just tell when he's unhappy. But I know,
- 6:48Speaker 6: I don't want to kick anybody in the way. I
- 6:49Speaker 6: just I think both those guys are kind of quiet.
- 6:51Speaker 6: And there was to me at least an element of
- 6:55Speaker 6: previous guys who had bigger roles in the past regime,
- 6:58Speaker 6: and they aren't quite fit on the field, and it's
- 7:01Speaker 6: hard to make them fit off the field too and
- 7:03Speaker 6: make them feel part of it. And you know, to
- 7:05Speaker 6: take a guy like Kyle Dugger who was a captain
- 7:08Speaker 6: and a guy who got extended and for all you
- 7:11Speaker 6: know from last year everything, we saw a guy that
- 7:13Speaker 6: was going to be here and be part of the
- 7:15Speaker 6: future for.
- 7:15Speaker 1: A long time. And you could see right out of
- 7:17Speaker 1: the gate this summer that something's up.
- 7:20Speaker 8: Uh.
- 7:20Speaker 6: And what I what I thought was interesting too, was
- 7:22Speaker 6: just that Pittsburgh had already acquired Peppers like Jabal Pepper's
- 7:25Speaker 6: kind of just playing special teams for them right now.
- 7:27Speaker 6: But now they have Peppers and dugger two guys that
- 7:30Speaker 6: played significant roles for this team in the past. So
- 7:33Speaker 6: I think they've been trying to maybe move that guy
- 7:34Speaker 6: for a while. Seems like everything you read in the
- 7:37Speaker 6: tea leaves or you know, Adam Schefter saying Kyle Duggar
- 7:40Speaker 6: is going to get moved, so it.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Felt like a matter of time.
- 7:44Speaker 4: But yeah, and the Steelers lost a guy too, is
- 7:46Speaker 4: it Elliott? Deshaun elliotts to I R. So they you know,
- 7:51Speaker 4: they're hurting on the back end, so it makes some
- 7:53Speaker 4: sense for them. But I agree with Mike and Evan.
- 7:56Speaker 4: It's just that they based on what they wanted to
- 7:59Speaker 4: do and how they want to play. They they weren't
- 8:02Speaker 4: great fits. I do think the money was a big
- 8:04Speaker 4: factor for for Douger. I think he would have been
- 8:07Speaker 4: perfectly suitable as a third safety if the price was
- 8:11Speaker 4: was more palatable. Obviously they felt it wasn't because he
- 8:15Speaker 4: did have a role. When you saw some health issues
- 8:20Speaker 4: with Jalen Hawkins. Uh, you know, you know what, New Orleans.
- 8:24Speaker 4: The New Orleans Games started twice yeah, so New Orlens
- 8:27Speaker 4: and Tennessee. Yeah, well, I mean yeah, like but regular
- 8:30Speaker 4: playing like he played in those games, like he earlier
- 8:33Speaker 4: in the year. He was like starting and playing like
- 8:35Speaker 4: one snap.
- 8:36Speaker 3: Oh yeah, he started right in the Orleans game, Well
- 8:39Speaker 3: he started, but he's he was.
- 8:41Speaker 4: Yeah, and he played and he was out there. So
- 8:44Speaker 4: they went out and they signed a safety from Miami
- 8:47Speaker 4: off the practice squad, John Saunders Junior, not to be
- 8:52Speaker 4: confused with John correct from ESPN.
- 8:55Speaker 1: It is a crazy ip sort of.
- 8:58Speaker 3: You know, Dugger goes from one snap in Buffalo in
- 9:01Speaker 3: week five to two weeks in a row playing one
- 9:04Speaker 3: hundred percent of the snaps and being a full time
- 9:06Speaker 3: starter in New Orleans and Tennessee to trade it. Yeah, Like,
- 9:09Speaker 3: so I'm with Paul like that. There was a role
- 9:12Speaker 3: for him as like the third safety in depth for
- 9:14Speaker 3: Hawkins and Woodson. Now they're paying most of his salary
- 9:18Speaker 3: this year anyways, So it's not a money thing in
- 9:22Speaker 3: twenty five. It's a money thing in twenty six and
- 9:24Speaker 3: twenty seven because he had two more years left on
- 9:27Speaker 3: that extension for big money, and now those years come
- 9:30Speaker 3: off the books and they don't have to pay him
- 9:32Speaker 3: for those two seasons, So this was about getting out
- 9:35Speaker 3: of the contract as much as it was anything else.
- 9:37Speaker 6: Good point though, too, because I wondered if getting an
- 9:39Speaker 6: opportunity to play a little bit, maybe that would have said, hey,
- 9:42Speaker 6: he's closer than we think.
- 9:44Speaker 1: Where we've got injury issues here. He's good insurance.
- 9:47Speaker 6: But it doesn't seem like anything he did in the
- 9:49Speaker 6: games was enough to make them think let's keep them around.
- 9:51Speaker 2: So do you think that this says anything about, you know,
- 9:56Speaker 2: being buyers for the next week.
- 9:59Speaker 1: I hope so. And we talked about it.
- 10:00Speaker 6: They I mean, they signed Saunders junior. They still have
- 10:04Speaker 6: an open spot, but Mike Rabel intimated that it looks
- 10:07Speaker 6: like Terrell Jennings might get that spot. So it doesn't
- 10:09Speaker 6: seem on paper at this particular moment that they have
- 10:13Speaker 6: an open spot. But you know, based on what we
- 10:15Speaker 6: said yesterday, I think I think you gotta be right.
- 10:18Speaker 6: I mean, you think there's an opportunity. I'd me too,
- 10:21Speaker 6: me too, especially on the defensive side of the ball.
- 10:23Speaker 6: I mean, honestly, I think they need to add a
- 10:25Speaker 6: running back. I don't, and I feel like they're with,
- 10:28Speaker 6: you know, signing two more practice squad running backs as
- 10:31Speaker 6: well that maybe they're not going to go into the
- 10:33Speaker 6: veteran route. Maybe they are going to just kind of
- 10:35Speaker 6: stick with Terrell Jennings and hope that Remandre and Henderson
- 10:39Speaker 6: can make it through the season.
- 10:40Speaker 1: But defensively, I think there's an opportunity.
- 10:42Speaker 4: I'm going to catch edge rusher.
- 10:44Speaker 1: That's where I start.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I think that you know, doing this a
- 10:49Speaker 3: week early tells me that they're trying to do this
- 10:52Speaker 3: to free up whatever they needed to free up to
- 10:55Speaker 3: do something a week from now. So I don't know
- 10:58Speaker 3: what exactly will happen, but if they traded Dugger and
- 11:00Speaker 3: Keon White on the fourth, then it's kind of too
- 11:04Speaker 3: late to then pivot to something else. So it seems
- 11:07Speaker 3: to me like this was like a preemptive strike because
- 11:10Speaker 3: they might have something brewing to make, you know, an
- 11:14Speaker 3: acquisition to buy, you know, by the time the deadline
- 11:17Speaker 3: rolls around. Otherwise, why I do it a week early?
- 11:20Speaker 4: Like why not?
- 11:20Speaker 3: You know they would have Dugger to play in the
- 11:22Speaker 3: game on Sunday, and you know, it just it seems
- 11:25Speaker 3: like it would.
- 11:25Speaker 4: That was also part of it, Like it was pretty
- 11:27Speaker 4: clear that they wanted to trade Keon White and that
- 11:30Speaker 4: had to at least been part of the reason why
- 11:32Speaker 4: he was a healthy scratch. Yeah Sunday, now, dugger, it
- 11:36Speaker 4: was also a scratch. But he maybe got hurt and
- 11:39Speaker 4: practice on Thursday. Maybe he wasn't able to go. But
- 11:42Speaker 4: I wondered even that. Yeah, I agree, Fred, That's why
- 11:45Speaker 4: I bring it up. Yeah, you know, I have no
- 11:48Speaker 4: doubt that something happened to him on Thursday. But whatever
- 11:51Speaker 4: the something was, was that enough to keep him out
- 11:52Speaker 4: of the game, or did they have these kinds of
- 11:54Speaker 4: plans in mind.
- 11:55Speaker 6: I think it also just puts a period on the
- 11:58Speaker 6: safety position, and you know what we thought coming in,
- 12:00Speaker 6: And maybe it's oversimplifying it, but I almost feel like
- 12:03Speaker 6: the previous system wanted a bunch of strong safeties.
- 12:06Speaker 1: And they want a bunch of free safeties.
- 12:07Speaker 6: And it might just be as simple as that Sounders
- 12:11Speaker 6: Junior more in that mold guy who can run, who
- 12:14Speaker 6: can play free safety. But to reiterate the point ament yesterday,
- 12:17Speaker 6: I just think that position is such a huge opportunity
- 12:19Speaker 6: for the right player to really be all over the place.
- 12:22Speaker 6: I mean, I was just looking at Jalen Hawkins stats.
- 12:23Speaker 6: He's only played like six games, but like you know,
- 12:26Speaker 6: he's getting rushing the passer, he's getting hands on balls.
- 12:30Speaker 1: I mean, he's got you know.
- 12:31Speaker 6: Just production across the board, which you know, and it
- 12:34Speaker 6: limited sample size. I don't know if he's going to
- 12:35Speaker 6: continue to be that kind of player, but I just
- 12:38Speaker 6: think the way they play these safeties, they have an
- 12:40Speaker 6: opportunity to make plays at all levels of the field,
- 12:43Speaker 6: and if you get a guy who's really smart, they
- 12:45Speaker 6: just a huge playmaking opportunity.
- 12:47Speaker 3: Their seaball get ball defense at safety. He's a seventh
- 12:50Speaker 3: raded safety in PFF grade right now, Jalen Hawkins, which.
- 12:53Speaker 1: For whatever, it's six games, yeah you know.
- 12:55Speaker 3: But I mean it's all they've only played eight, like
- 12:58Speaker 3: you know, I mean they I don't think he's a
- 13:00Speaker 3: top ten safety in the league. But the point being
- 13:03Speaker 3: is that he has had production. What's the point he's
- 13:06Speaker 3: had production.
- 13:06Speaker 2: While he's I know, but like you know, if we
- 13:11Speaker 2: all know that he's not really ranked in the top
- 13:15Speaker 2: ten in terms of safeties, like like why why are
- 13:20Speaker 2: these PFF grades like worth talking about?
- 13:22Speaker 3: Because I think PFF grades to me are pass fail
- 13:27Speaker 3: So like if guys are above average and they're grading
- 13:32Speaker 3: usually that means that those guys are having decent seasons.
- 13:36Speaker 3: The guys that are in the red and their grading
- 13:38Speaker 3: are the guys that you circle on Tuesday and say
- 13:40Speaker 3: where's Waldo? Right, Like we're gonna put Milton Williams over
- 13:43Speaker 3: this left guard because he stinks, right, like that sort
- 13:46Speaker 3: of thing. So I don't think Jalen Hawkins is the
- 13:48Speaker 3: seventh graded safety in the league or top ten safety
- 13:51Speaker 3: in the NFL. But I think he's having a decent season.
- 13:54Speaker 3: I think he's an average player at his position right now.
- 13:58Speaker 3: You know, once they kind of figured out that he's
- 14:00Speaker 3: not going to cover rock Burs and they kind of
- 14:02Speaker 3: moved him away from covering tight ends one on one,
- 14:06Speaker 3: I think he's been been better. He was good in
- 14:09Speaker 3: this pass game against Cleveland, So you know, I don't
- 14:12Speaker 3: think that it's like indicative that he's you know, it's
- 14:16Speaker 3: you know, Kyle Hamilton and Jalen Hawkins, like no one's saying.
- 14:20Speaker 2: I just feel like every time we bring up PFF,
- 14:22Speaker 2: we have to explain the rating, like there's always context
- 14:26Speaker 2: to it.
- 14:26Speaker 3: That I was just piggybacking off of du because he
- 14:29Speaker 3: was talking about his production. PFF grades off production. They're
- 14:33Speaker 3: grading you know, pass defense interceptions tackles, run stuffs like
- 14:38Speaker 3: that's what inflates your grade. So if your guy like
- 14:41Speaker 3: Deuce was saying about Hawkins, that's blogging those types of
- 14:44Speaker 3: things at a decent clip, then you're going to have
- 14:46Speaker 3: a good grade.
- 14:47Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean six games, two interceptions, you know, two
- 14:50Speaker 6: passes defense, I don't that's the same. But a fumble recovery,
- 14:53Speaker 6: a sack and a half, you know, twenty eight solo tackles,
- 14:56Speaker 6: two tackles for loss too, QP hits.
- 14:58Speaker 1: I don't know if those are the sacks, but.
- 14:59Speaker 6: Just I think it's more just to illustrate not the player,
- 15:02Speaker 6: I know, but the opportunity to do it of what
- 15:04Speaker 6: you're playing.
- 15:04Speaker 1: And I look and give him some credit.
- 15:06Speaker 6: He's you know, he's he's around the body.
- 15:09Speaker 2: I mean, you get picked a lot.
- 15:12Speaker 1: As a safety.
- 15:13Speaker 3: As a safety, does it feel like you Yes, I
- 15:15Speaker 3: don't know.
- 15:17Speaker 7: I don't know. They don't.
- 15:18Speaker 2: They don't you said yesterday, they don't. They stay away
- 15:20Speaker 2: from Davis and Gonzo. They got to be thrown to somebody.
- 15:23Speaker 4: Yeah, they are.
- 15:24Speaker 3: And you know, I think with Hawkins, like, to me,
- 15:28Speaker 3: the biggest part about Hawkins game that impresses me is
- 15:32Speaker 3: just his ability to play as like a roamer and
- 15:34Speaker 3: a defense when he is free to just kind of
- 15:37Speaker 3: play over the top or he's free to you know,
- 15:40Speaker 3: being you know, the run game, like attack the line
- 15:43Speaker 3: of scrimmage. When he's asked to cover a guy one
- 15:45Speaker 3: on one, he's not good at it. Like we can
- 15:47Speaker 3: all say that, you know, every time they put him
- 15:50Speaker 3: on a tight end one on one. You know, last
- 15:51Speaker 3: week they tried Marte Mapu on Harold Fan and he
- 15:54Speaker 3: played one snap game up nineteen yard creation on third
- 15:56Speaker 3: down and.
- 15:57Speaker 4: Never saw the field again.
- 15:58Speaker 3: So like they have an issue there with covering tight ends.
- 16:02Speaker 3: But I think in general, Hawkins has been all right,
- 16:05Speaker 3: and I think Woodson has flashes for a rookie.
- 16:07Speaker 6: Yeah, Woodson hasn't had the production like that those numbers,
- 16:10Speaker 6: Like he hasn't had the interceptions or this sex. So
- 16:13Speaker 6: but when you look at where they're lining up, like
- 16:15Speaker 6: it's pretty balanced, like they both are like back and forward.
- 16:19Speaker 1: And you know, all over the place.
- 16:21Speaker 6: So I mean the bigger point to me is just
- 16:23Speaker 6: opportunity in this system to really, like you know, what's
- 16:26Speaker 6: the kid from downs from you, ohigo State.
- 16:28Speaker 1: I'm not saying they're going to make.
- 16:29Speaker 3: That pick, but like trade up to the top five.
- 16:33Speaker 6: That kind of player in this system feels like it
- 16:35Speaker 6: would be a really a home run kind of a
- 16:37Speaker 6: hit that can affect everything.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Whereas you know.
- 16:39Speaker 6: We talk Devin mccordy didn't make a lot of plays
- 16:43Speaker 6: that you know, he's great free safety, but in that system,
- 16:46Speaker 6: his job was kind of make sure everything's good, don't
- 16:48Speaker 6: get beat over the top instead of we're going to
- 16:50Speaker 6: send you have the quarterback on this blitz and then
- 16:52Speaker 6: you're going to be dropping you know, all the different
- 16:53Speaker 6: things that you know could put him in the position
- 16:55Speaker 6: to get those numbers, you know, and.
- 16:57Speaker 4: They play a lot of his own.
- 16:59Speaker 3: So like this defense, you know, the old defense, they're
- 17:01Speaker 3: playing so much man to man like in this defense,
- 17:03Speaker 3: they're playing a lot of Diskui zone in particular, where
- 17:06Speaker 3: you know, it's one to two high two to one
- 17:08Speaker 3: like and so like, they keep on mixing it up
- 17:09Speaker 3: on the back end. So having two guys like Woodson
- 17:12Speaker 3: and Hawkins who are kind of interchangeable in the way
- 17:14Speaker 3: they play the deep part of the field allows them
- 17:17Speaker 3: to do a lot of the disguise zone coverage that
- 17:19Speaker 3: they're running. You know, I have some I don't know
- 17:22Speaker 3: how great it. It's been you know, like twenty eighth
- 17:24Speaker 3: and dv A against the past. But that's the system
- 17:27Speaker 3: and so that's the type of safety that they're looking for.
- 17:29Speaker 2: All right, Well, Wednesday is turn the page day, so
- 17:32Speaker 2: we're going to turn the page of the bucket? Is
- 17:34Speaker 2: Oh no? I mean that the Falcons you're looking ahead
- 17:37Speaker 2: for it?
- 17:37Speaker 1: Wow, it's just a joke.
- 17:40Speaker 2: Just listen to the We all know the Falcons have
- 17:44Speaker 2: a lot of talent on the roster, and but they're
- 17:47Speaker 2: hot and cold and it depends on Halloween.
- 17:49Speaker 4: It's the perfect time to play the most trick or
- 17:52Speaker 4: treat team that you're.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Right, So which which costume are they going to be
- 17:56Speaker 2: wearing this Sunday. If they're wearing the good costume, it
- 18:00Speaker 2: could be a tough, tough game for the start with.
- 18:03Speaker 2: And that's what you have to assume.
- 18:04Speaker 1: Start with Penis in London. You know, what's their status
- 18:06Speaker 1: going to be today?
- 18:07Speaker 4: Sounds like it's trending, sounds like they're getting a lot
- 18:09Speaker 4: of players back.
- 18:11Speaker 6: So I you know, I I welcome that. I want
- 18:13Speaker 6: to see you know, I want to see Penis. I
- 18:15Speaker 6: want to see their best I want to see Drake London,
- 18:17Speaker 6: who I think is you know, I wasn't really not.
- 18:19Speaker 6: He's not usually my kind of receiver. Those are kind
- 18:21Speaker 6: of the ones that but I think he's shown enough
- 18:24Speaker 6: wiggle and athleticism kind of like Tet that you see
- 18:28Speaker 6: how he can be a complimentary piece. But they have
- 18:31Speaker 6: some good pieces to challenge the Patriots in the passing game.
- 18:33Speaker 6: I think, uh, you know, especially with Pennix, who you know,
- 18:36Speaker 6: I just I haven't. I've seen it in spurts of
- 18:39Speaker 6: him throwing the ball down the field, but that's to
- 18:40Speaker 6: me when when we were watching him coming out of college,
- 18:42Speaker 6: was just you know, the person and all that.
- 18:47Speaker 4: Right, if if Panix plays well, then it's going to
- 18:50Speaker 4: make the the personnel look like it is. It's better.
- 18:54Speaker 4: He hasn't consistently been able to play well. He's shown flashes.
- 18:57Speaker 4: He's not completely without talent, but he hasn't been consistent.
- 19:01Speaker 4: He seems to me like just slow getting rid of
- 19:03Speaker 4: the ball, kind of a doesn't move great, and he's
- 19:06Speaker 4: had those knee injuries. I don't think he has a
- 19:08Speaker 4: ton of mobility. No one's going to confuse him with
- 19:11Speaker 4: Drake may on Sunday, you know, buying time and moving
- 19:14Speaker 4: around and picking up first downs, a lot of first
- 19:17Speaker 4: downs with his legs, but he can throw, and you know,
- 19:21Speaker 4: if he gets in a rhythm and he gets hot,
- 19:23Speaker 4: and then you get b Jon Robinson rolling, It's an
- 19:25Speaker 4: offense that can stretch you. They haven't done it consistently,
- 19:28Speaker 4: and you can.
- 19:28Speaker 3: Just I mean, they're twenty eighth in the league in scoring.
- 19:30Speaker 4: Absolutely, they're down the bottom and everything. But even if
- 19:33Speaker 4: you just look at him, it's like thirty four twenty four,
- 19:37Speaker 4: and then they follow it up with ten and ten
- 19:40Speaker 4: like so there's just no consistency with with what they're
- 19:43Speaker 4: doing offensively. The numbers Evan just set them. They're they're
- 19:46Speaker 4: right down there with Tennessee in Cleveland. I mean, they're
- 19:49Speaker 4: only a couple of notches above those two teams that
- 19:51Speaker 4: you just saw. Now, I would say, what's holding them back?
- 19:54Speaker 4: Personnel wise?
- 19:55Speaker 1: Scheme?
- 19:56Speaker 4: Personnel wise. This is a much better team than than
- 19:58Speaker 4: those teams. Yeah, yeah, but they're getting they have a chance.
- 20:02Speaker 4: They get a lot of guys back to They had
- 20:03Speaker 4: four starters missing on defense when the game ended the
- 20:06Speaker 4: other day, and Raheem Morris said on Monday that he
- 20:12Speaker 4: thinks it's he had some pretty good optimism. Zach Harrison,
- 20:15Speaker 4: Jalen Walker, Billy Bowman, and Jesse Bates who got hurt
- 20:20Speaker 4: in the Miami game. The other three didn't play at
- 20:22Speaker 4: all in the game. They think there's a chance that
- 20:24Speaker 4: all of those guys will be back, as well as
- 20:26Speaker 4: London and Penix will have a chance. So if they
- 20:29Speaker 4: get those guys back personnel wise, I think it's a
- 20:31Speaker 4: bigger challenge than what you've seen in the last month.
- 20:34Speaker 6: They have some good, you know, passing statistic numbers for
- 20:37Speaker 6: their defense that you know, maybe points to some more
- 20:40Speaker 6: challenges for the Patriots passing attack and maybe some opportunities
- 20:43Speaker 6: to continue to get the running game going for the Patriots,
- 20:46Speaker 6: you know, try to you know, maybe that maybe they
- 20:48Speaker 6: lean a little more to the run this week. I
- 20:49Speaker 6: don't know, but you know, I think it's it's weird
- 20:52Speaker 6: because Atlanta they don't have a lot of household names
- 20:54Speaker 6: on their defense. There's not like really a superstar talent
- 20:57Speaker 6: to really point to. There's some solid players, you know,
- 21:00Speaker 6: Christian Ellis's brother plays a ton as one of their
- 21:03Speaker 6: linebackers with Diablo, But it's like you look at so
- 21:10Speaker 6: that's what's hard with me. As you look at this,
- 21:11Speaker 6: it's like usually circle the big players and now it's
- 21:14Speaker 6: like they you know, it seems like the offense they
- 21:17Speaker 6: play well in spurts and they're pretty good against the past,
- 21:19Speaker 6: but I don't think they've allowed a three hundred yard
- 21:22Speaker 6: passer yet.
- 21:22Speaker 3: Having a lot of two hundred yards. Yeah, they their
- 21:25Speaker 3: pass defense is legitimate. Like their defense in general is
- 21:28Speaker 3: really good. And you know, they they kind of run
- 21:31Speaker 3: like the new version of the Seattle three, so it's
- 21:33Speaker 3: a lot of zone coverage, you know, cover three quarters,
- 21:36Speaker 3: but on a third down they they have like this
- 21:39Speaker 3: pressure package that's like Brian Flores esque that they run
- 21:42Speaker 3: on third down that I did not see coming and
- 21:45Speaker 3: I was like.
- 21:45Speaker 1: Whoa, Like where's the tie here?
- 21:47Speaker 3: Like, you know, they're running a lot of like fire
- 21:49Speaker 3: zones and zone pressure and things like that, and do teams.
- 21:56Speaker 2: Do teams uh not pass well against them because they
- 21:59Speaker 2: they can run or.
- 22:03Speaker 3: I think there's an argument to be made that the
- 22:05Speaker 3: yards are being held down by game script, whether it's
- 22:08Speaker 3: running the football or short fields or whatever the case
- 22:11Speaker 3: may be. But they're really good in all the opponent
- 22:14Speaker 3: adjusted stuff too, Like you know, DVOA and things like
- 22:17Speaker 3: that have them you know, pretty high as well. In
- 22:20Speaker 3: pass not first in the league, not best in the league,
- 22:22Speaker 3: but still top ten in the NFL. So their run
- 22:27Speaker 3: defenses has been weak, and they've specifically struggled a lot
- 22:31Speaker 3: against gap schemes, you know, schemes with pollers and downhill
- 22:35Speaker 3: runs and things like that. And that's Josh mcdaniels's bread
- 22:39Speaker 3: and butter, like if you can't stop you know, power
- 22:41Speaker 3: and full backs and things like that. Like Josh McDaniels
- 22:45Speaker 3: has got plenty of that in his bag. So if
- 22:48Speaker 3: I was the Patriots, I would think that that's where
- 22:50Speaker 3: they start, is trying to run the ball to start
- 22:53Speaker 3: this game, and then maybe you can get some of
- 22:55Speaker 3: the play action passes to open them up a little
- 22:58Speaker 3: bit because they they don't give up very many explosives
- 23:01Speaker 3: on defense. They're second in the league and explosive play
- 23:04Speaker 3: rate on defense. So this is a true strength on strength,
- 23:07Speaker 3: like number one pass defense, number two in explosive play
- 23:11Speaker 3: rate against one of the most explosive passing offenses in football.
- 23:15Speaker 3: With Drake May kind of.
- 23:15Speaker 6: Like you have to go into the minutia a little bit.
- 23:17Speaker 6: It's not like you can just say Miles Garrett. They've
- 23:19Speaker 6: got Miles Garrett and we just talked about Miles Garet,
- 23:20Speaker 6: Miles Garrett, but it is a it is a good
- 23:23Speaker 6: matchup that, like Evan said, I think we'll test some
- 23:25Speaker 6: of what we've seen from the Patriots.
- 23:26Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 23:26Speaker 4: And I will say and this is just anecdotal because
- 23:29Speaker 4: I don't break down the tape as you guys know,
- 23:32Speaker 4: like the way Evan and Mike do. But with Jeff
- 23:34Speaker 4: Albrick as their defensive coordinator, and you guys remember him
- 23:37Speaker 4: from the Jets, yep, you know, he was the interim
- 23:39Speaker 4: guy who took over, but he was a defensive coordinator
- 23:43Speaker 4: with New York and one of the things that the
- 23:44Speaker 4: Jets did really well was defend Josh Allen. You know what,
- 23:49Speaker 4: Buffalo had some some like kind of slogs against the Jets.
- 23:52Speaker 4: They always beat them, The Bills would always find a
- 23:54Speaker 4: way to win the game, but they had some slogs
- 23:57Speaker 4: against this defense. And then a couple of weeks ago
- 24:00Speaker 4: on a Monday Night, that's as bad as I've seen
- 24:01Speaker 4: Buffalo's offense look all year in that Monday night game.
- 24:06Speaker 4: So I kind of I'm not telling you that scheme.
- 24:09Speaker 4: I'm telling you this is a scheme similarity, but there's
- 24:11Speaker 4: a style similarity with May and Allen. He wants to
- 24:15Speaker 4: get the ball, you know, out of you know, not
- 24:19Speaker 4: necessarily one guy, but it's going to spread it around.
- 24:21Speaker 4: He's going to use his legs, he's going to buy time.
- 24:23Speaker 4: Albrick has had some success with that, so it might
- 24:25Speaker 4: be something to keep an eye on.
- 24:26Speaker 3: Yeah, he's running the you know that that was Robert
- 24:29Speaker 3: Sola's defense in New York and that's his mentor, that's
- 24:32Speaker 3: you know, the guy that taught Ulbrick a lot of
- 24:34Speaker 3: this stuff. And it's the same system. It's the same
- 24:36Speaker 3: system they're running with the Jets, same system Solos running
- 24:39Speaker 3: with San Francisco on their defense right now as well
- 24:43Speaker 3: offensively for the Falcons. I did a little bit of
- 24:46Speaker 3: a rant on this at the end of Catch twenty two.
- 24:49Speaker 3: Their offense pisses me off, frankly, because when you have
- 24:53Speaker 3: that much talent on offense and you're twenty eighth in
- 24:57Speaker 3: the league and scoring, that is a coaching issue.
- 25:00Speaker 2: That is a quarterback issue.
- 25:02Speaker 3: It's it's coaching like you don't have Bijon Robinson, Drake London,
- 25:07Speaker 3: Kyle Pitts, Darnell Mooney, a decent offensive line and score
- 25:11Speaker 3: seventeen points a game like that that doesn't the bat
- 25:14Speaker 3: doesn't Matt there. They motion a ton. I think all
- 25:18Speaker 3: of the motion, the pistol. They run a ton of
- 25:20Speaker 3: pistol formation. It's like all this like fancy cool stuff
- 25:24Speaker 3: that they do, and then you snap the ball and
- 25:27Speaker 3: it's just vanilla like. They run the same stuff. They
- 25:31Speaker 3: don't threaten the middle of the field, which is a
- 25:33Speaker 3: big reason why they struggle against man coverage like this,
- 25:37Speaker 3: this scheme.
- 25:38Speaker 4: I like Zach Robinson.
- 25:39Speaker 3: I think he does some creative things with Bijon, especially
- 25:44Speaker 3: he's he's losing me. He's on the outside right now.
- 25:47Speaker 6: But do you think that they have enough to scheme
- 25:49Speaker 6: up the Patriots defense on the first two drives?
- 25:51Speaker 3: Again, they have enough to be a good offense, like
- 25:55Speaker 3: this should be a much better, much better offense than
- 25:57Speaker 3: it is. I think the biggest issue that they have
- 26:01Speaker 3: with the quarterback is that he's not mobile, which kills
- 26:05Speaker 3: them because all the pistol stuff that they're doing is
- 26:08Speaker 3: kind of watered down because they don't have a mobile quarterback.
- 26:12Speaker 9: Uh.
- 26:12Speaker 3: And then he doesn't throw the middle of the field,
- 26:15Speaker 3: so Pennix only wants to throw verticals, and he wants
- 26:18Speaker 3: to throw outside the numbers, it's all. That's the only
- 26:20Speaker 3: thing that he does. He's last in the league. And
- 26:23Speaker 3: the percentage of passes that travel into the middle of
- 26:26Speaker 3: the field. And when you pay teams that play a
- 26:30Speaker 3: lot of man coverage against you crossers, slants in breaking routes, like,
- 26:36Speaker 3: that's how you beat man coverage. And if your quarterback
- 26:39Speaker 3: isn't willing to read the middle of the field out
- 26:41Speaker 3: and throw the ball there, then you're just throwing iceo
- 26:44Speaker 3: go balls on the outside against man to man, and
- 26:46Speaker 3: that's how you have a You know, those are fifty
- 26:49Speaker 3: to fifty propositions in the NFL.
- 26:51Speaker 6: For the Patriots too, I'd say, like, yeah, you know,
- 26:53Speaker 6: you want to target the middle of the field. You
- 26:55Speaker 6: want to target the linebackers and the safeties on the
- 26:57Speaker 6: cornerback or the tight ends and the bringbacks too.
- 26:59Speaker 3: Yeah, so they are they're dead last in the league
- 27:02Speaker 3: a EPA against man coverage.
- 27:03Speaker 1: So the worst offense in the league against We're going
- 27:05Speaker 1: back to man this week, huh and like.
- 27:07Speaker 3: By quite a bit. Like it's a pretty big gap
- 27:10Speaker 3: between them and the next team.
- 27:12Speaker 2: Eddie and La writes and Deduce just call London a
- 27:14Speaker 2: complimentary piece. Brother that is a wide receiver one learn
- 27:18Speaker 2: ball deuce. Aha jokes aside, I'm very excited to see
- 27:22Speaker 2: Gonzo or Davis manned up on London, so hopefully he
- 27:25Speaker 2: suits up complimentary.
- 27:29Speaker 6: I didn't mean to call him a commeminary piece, but
- 27:31Speaker 6: I just I said generally, I don't like those kind
- 27:34Speaker 6: of receivers get sold to me a lot.
- 27:36Speaker 1: In the draft, and I just don't like them. I
- 27:38Speaker 1: don't gravitate towards them.
- 27:39Speaker 6: And I get that he's one of the few that's
- 27:41Speaker 6: very athletic and has the size, but like I like
- 27:44Speaker 6: guys with some explosion who can you know, I don't
- 27:47Speaker 6: like separators, like separators, you know, I like the guys
- 27:50Speaker 6: that you know, I love a J.
- 27:51Speaker 7: Brown.
- 27:51Speaker 6: You know, I just love physical shorter receipt not shorter.
- 27:55Speaker 6: I don't want to say that, but you know, the
- 27:57Speaker 6: tall former basketball players who can jump up and make
- 28:00Speaker 6: can tested catches, they don't usually flip vote.
- 28:02Speaker 3: He's a good player, but like he's a really good player.
- 28:05Speaker 3: But if you look at his metrics, like he fits
- 28:08Speaker 3: this whole thing of like he's a zone beating receiver,
- 28:11Speaker 3: Like he's gonna find the soft spots, he's gonna run
- 28:14Speaker 3: the seams. He's gonna find those areas of the zone coverages.
- 28:18Speaker 3: But his separation numbers now, he's a contested catch guy,
- 28:21Speaker 3: so like you have to throw him back shoulders, and
- 28:24Speaker 3: you have to throw him high points, and you have
- 28:26Speaker 3: to throw him open, but his separation numbers against man
- 28:29Speaker 3: coverage are down near the bottom of the league.
- 28:31Speaker 2: Well, this is one where I think you do put
- 28:33Speaker 2: whether it's Davis or Gonzo, you put him one on
- 28:35Speaker 2: one so that he can't pick, he can't hunt those
- 28:39Speaker 2: matchups like you.
- 28:40Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I think that this is a man coverage game.
- 28:43Speaker 3: Now when I unpack that, Kyle Pitts and Bijon Robinson
- 28:48Speaker 3: become a problem.
- 28:49Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 28:49Speaker 4: Right, So that that's.
- 28:51Speaker 3: Really where I think this can unravel on the Patriots
- 28:55Speaker 3: in terms of the man to man approach is who's
- 28:57Speaker 3: covering the tight end and who's covering Bijon.
- 29:00Speaker 1: So that's where it.
- 29:01Speaker 3: Gets tricky, is like they don't they have three good
- 29:04Speaker 3: corners that can cover the receivers, Like I think Marcus
- 29:07Speaker 3: Jones matches up against Darnell Mooney and Gonzales and Davis
- 29:11Speaker 3: match up against Drake London. But as we get to
- 29:14Speaker 3: the tight end and the running back. I don't know
- 29:17Speaker 3: where you go and.
- 29:19Speaker 1: Do you go Davis on Pitts?
- 29:20Speaker 3: Maybe you think I think that's a possibility. They haven't
- 29:23Speaker 3: done that yet with.
- 29:24Speaker 4: The seventh graded safety on them.
- 29:26Speaker 6: Yeah, but that's not what he's found that he's said.
- 29:31Speaker 2: So I would agree with you if you go back
- 29:33Speaker 2: to the old Bill Belichick way. Is there one guy
- 29:35Speaker 2: like if you had to pick, we're going to take
- 29:37Speaker 2: him out? Is it Jean Robinson?
- 29:40Speaker 1: Yeah, he is the engine of their offense.
- 29:42Speaker 3: But their Patriots run defense has been so good that
- 29:46Speaker 3: I'm not totally concerned about him as a runner.
- 29:48Speaker 2: Right, I'm not either, I am. I really don't know
- 29:51Speaker 2: what I'm talking about him as a receiver.
- 29:53Speaker 3: Yeah, that him as a receiver is a problem, And
- 29:55Speaker 3: I don't really know how Like you could say, like
- 29:58Speaker 3: I love the Carlton Davis idea, like that's a I
- 30:00Speaker 3: would be a great wrinkle. I don't know what that
- 30:03Speaker 3: is on Bijon, Like you're not gonna put a corner
- 30:07Speaker 3: on him?
- 30:07Speaker 1: Like, so, I don't know, hope done on that play?
- 30:14Speaker 1: He just got up closer.
- 30:16Speaker 3: Yeah, so you know you you want them to to
- 30:19Speaker 3: play trail in that position where like he runs right
- 30:22Speaker 3: directly behind Fannin and so that when the pick comes,
- 30:27Speaker 3: he's literally like right behind him in his hip and
- 30:30Speaker 3: that way there he can avoid the pick. You probably
- 30:32Speaker 3: might still give up the catch, but then you can
- 30:34Speaker 3: just make the tackle and you know, get off the field.
- 30:38Speaker 2: Jacket and Arbor with his and his weekly uh stutter
- 30:42Speaker 2: stiff list for the Falcons this week. Stutter stiff Michael
- 30:46Speaker 2: Pennox stiftiff really Bjeon Robinson, Drake London, Mike Hughes.
- 30:56Speaker 4: More of a stiff stiff.
- 30:57Speaker 3: If I was them, Kai Shan Boody On Mikey were bombing,
- 31:01Speaker 3: We're bombing. He's given up more touchdowns on deep passes
- 31:05Speaker 3: than any corner in football so far this year. So
- 31:07Speaker 3: I guarantee you you're going to see at least one
- 31:09Speaker 3: shot Watts.
- 31:12Speaker 4: Good player. He's good.
- 31:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm excited about him. I really liked him in
- 31:16Speaker 3: the draft.
- 31:16Speaker 4: I don't know as much about him.
- 31:19Speaker 6: Giving up all the big plays if they're good against explosives,
- 31:22Speaker 6: but he stinks at it, yes, and.
- 31:24Speaker 1: You know, obviously you don't want to throw at a J.
- 31:26Speaker 3: Terrell too often like I would.
- 31:28Speaker 4: I think he's one of the more underrated players in
- 31:30Speaker 4: the league. No one ever talks about him the way
- 31:32Speaker 4: they talk about like Gonzo and certain and you know
- 31:35Speaker 4: those kinds of corners. You know, Derek Stingley.
- 31:38Speaker 6: The closest thing, probably do a star on that defense.
- 31:40Speaker 6: I mean, Jesse Bates was very good. He's been a
- 31:42Speaker 6: really good player for a few years too.
- 31:44Speaker 7: Yep.
- 31:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I I wrote that he was a Pro bowler
- 31:47Speaker 3: and then I looked up and he's never made the
- 31:49Speaker 3: Pro Bowl, and that like blew my mind because I
- 31:51Speaker 3: think he's with Paul. I think he's one of the
- 31:53Speaker 3: better cover safety corners excuse me in the league. But
- 31:57Speaker 3: their other corner my cues can be can be picked on.
- 32:01Speaker 2: All right. So Vraable today at twelve fifty five.
- 32:04Speaker 4: A little later, little later pushed it back because evidently
- 32:06Speaker 4: they're working on a trade.
- 32:09Speaker 2: Is that right?
- 32:12Speaker 4: You sound like the guys on the Sports Hub when
- 32:14Speaker 4: they say, Paul, what are they doing at the trade deadline?
- 32:16Speaker 2: You're in on those You said it very convincingly. I
- 32:18Speaker 2: thought maybe you had some knowledge.
- 32:21Speaker 4: I can I can dream, I can dream.
- 32:23Speaker 2: The press conference later, it's like that really cuts into
- 32:29Speaker 2: my eating time.
- 32:30Speaker 4: Yeah, it was one.
- 32:33Speaker 3: He did this Titans week because he was talking about
- 32:35Speaker 3: Titans reporters. So I don't know what the push reason,
- 32:39Speaker 3: but it's a whole week next tomorrow, and Friday has
- 32:42Speaker 3: also been pushed back a.
- 32:44Speaker 1: Little bit by ten minutes.
- 32:46Speaker 2: Getting ready for uh the fall back with the clocks
- 32:50Speaker 2: on Sunday, Yeah, get ready.
- 32:52Speaker 3: Maybe maybe I think they're definitely, I mean we saw
- 32:55Speaker 3: what the intro is like. They're trying everything they can
- 32:57Speaker 3: to get faster starts, whether it's maybe practicing at a
- 33:02Speaker 3: different time or you know something. I I don't know
- 33:06Speaker 3: the intros. I think we're a big part of that,
- 33:08Speaker 3: trying to get some energy in the building before the
- 33:11Speaker 3: game started, So they're they're pulling out everything that they can.
- 33:14Speaker 4: I I haven't heard that theory before, and I like,
- 33:18Speaker 4: go starts some energy in the buildings the game.
- 33:22Speaker 6: Yeah, we don't get we only get a cut up
- 33:25Speaker 6: everything after the game.
- 33:27Speaker 4: So I'm working after the game.
- 33:28Speaker 3: Got me, and the press conference is working. I think
- 33:33Speaker 3: giving you credit the uh he doesn't like to go
- 33:36Speaker 3: back and I say Rabel doesn't like to go back
- 33:38Speaker 3: on trends with this team. But the four and sixteen
- 33:42Speaker 3: record at home since like the start of twenty three
- 33:44Speaker 3: or whatever it is, I think that's one that's stuck
- 33:47Speaker 3: with him, like, we need to be a better home team.
- 33:50Speaker 3: And they were one and two to start the year
- 33:51Speaker 3: at home, so I think that he's aware that they
- 33:54Speaker 3: have not been good enough year at home and they Yeah,
- 33:58Speaker 3: the intros was to try to get the juices in
- 34:01Speaker 3: the stadium flowing a little bit more early on in
- 34:04Speaker 3: the game.
- 34:04Speaker 4: Okay, it didn't work.
- 34:05Speaker 2: All right? Eight five five Pats five hundred is the
- 34:08Speaker 2: hotline podcast at Patriots dot com is the email address.
- 34:13Speaker 2: Let's get people involved. We'll start with Todd and Gardner.
- 34:17Speaker 2: What's up Todd?
- 34:20Speaker 10: Hey, guys, I just wouldn't say that this year will
- 34:23Speaker 10: be successful if Evans follow up after the games after
- 34:27Speaker 10: further review, gets our rookies, all three of them starting
- 34:30Speaker 10: to be talked about. I feel like that is that's
- 34:33Speaker 10: a that's a sign of success for us.
- 34:35Speaker 2: Sure, so we got to get Kyle Williams more involved.
- 34:37Speaker 3: Oh I see, yeah, I was gonna say I talk
- 34:40Speaker 3: about everybody that plays, So now he's.
- 34:42Speaker 2: I think he's talking about the top three. Yeah.
- 34:44Speaker 3: Yeah, really good game by Jared Wilson. Want to give
- 34:47Speaker 3: him some flowers?
- 34:49Speaker 2: Okay?
- 34:50Speaker 10: Yeah, and my camp for our quarterback is not one
- 34:54Speaker 10: that I think that Paula liked this. I went and
- 34:57Speaker 10: looked at Stafford the other day because I was watching
- 34:59Speaker 10: the Lions play, and then I was remembering Stafford was there,
- 35:03Speaker 10: and I was like, Stafford used.
- 35:04Speaker 9: To do some amazing things.
- 35:05Speaker 10: Stafford and our guy Drake are very similar in their
- 35:10Speaker 10: ability to roll out, extend to play, make those crazy throws. Yeah,
- 35:13Speaker 10: we don't have Megatron, but that would be more of
- 35:16Speaker 10: my calm than you know, the Bills boy. I really
- 35:19Speaker 10: think that he's more of like a young Stafford.
- 35:22Speaker 4: I think he has some Stafford, but I like he's
- 35:25Speaker 4: a better runner than.
- 35:25Speaker 3: Ste That's the difference to me is the running. But
- 35:29Speaker 3: I do see the way the angles they throw the ball,
- 35:33Speaker 3: you know, the you know, the the trick shots, the
- 35:36Speaker 3: oar Americans. So he just I'm gonna throw this anywhere.
- 35:39Speaker 2: With the throw to Hollins when he was going north
- 35:43Speaker 2: to south and he threw it, uh, kind of across
- 35:46Speaker 2: his body to the left hand side, was that a
- 35:49Speaker 2: no look past? I think it was.
- 35:51Speaker 3: He threw one to Pop that was a no look
- 35:52Speaker 3: past and maybe he maybe it was Pop. I didn't
- 35:54Speaker 3: care for it, but yeah, that was one of those
- 35:58Speaker 3: where it's like you're I think they were already up
- 36:01Speaker 3: sixteen to seven at that point, Like I don't need
- 36:04Speaker 3: to know look to the post safety going the other way,
- 36:07Speaker 3: like we can put that one in the back pocket.
- 36:09Speaker 3: But yeah, he he has more of that, Like Stafford
- 36:13Speaker 3: has more of that like gunslinger trick shot thing to
- 36:17Speaker 3: him that I can see a little bit with Drake,
- 36:19Speaker 3: but I agree with Paul, he's much more mobile, the
- 36:21Speaker 3: better runner.
- 36:22Speaker 4: Yeah, and when Stafford was younger, Todd's right, he was
- 36:25Speaker 4: a better athlete. You know, he's you know, he's thirty
- 36:27Speaker 4: eight or whatever now with all those injuries. But even
- 36:31Speaker 4: in his prime, he wasn't the runner that Drake is.
- 36:33Speaker 4: He could move, but not like not like Drake Wolves
- 36:36Speaker 4: in Montreal.
- 36:37Speaker 2: He will.
- 36:40Speaker 11: Last week I called in about Miles Garrett and he
- 36:43Speaker 11: proceeded to well break the franchise record for the Browns.
- 36:48Speaker 11: How do we contain Dejon Robinson this week? And my
- 36:51Speaker 11: second question is do you guys know when the next
- 36:54Speaker 11: episode of Forge and foxbro and it's coming out?
- 36:57Speaker 2: You have to stay tuned, no set date, but just
- 37:02Speaker 2: stay tuned for the answer.
- 37:06Speaker 6: Okay, I mean I don't get too carried away thinking
- 37:10Speaker 6: about scheming up to stop Jon. They've been really good
- 37:13Speaker 6: team defense and that's been a weekly thing, so I
- 37:16Speaker 6: have some confidence that they'll make life tough. I think
- 37:18Speaker 6: the bigger concern is what Evan said, it's it's him
- 37:20Speaker 6: as a receiver and getting him, you know, out into
- 37:23Speaker 6: the Backfield's that's where the damage has been, especially like
- 37:25Speaker 6: you know, the Miami game.
- 37:26Speaker 2: So is let's just just focus on the running part
- 37:30Speaker 2: of Jon Robinson's game right now. The way the Patriots
- 37:34Speaker 2: have been playing against the run, is that sufficient or
- 37:36Speaker 2: is there something that they have to maybe bring somebody
- 37:40Speaker 2: down to help out against this guy.
- 37:42Speaker 3: Oh well, they've been one of the best run defenses
- 37:44Speaker 3: in football. And you know, this Falcons offense runs outside
- 37:49Speaker 3: zone more than any team in the league. So they're
- 37:51Speaker 3: going to put the quarterback and pistol, they're gonna put
- 37:54Speaker 3: Bijon behind him, and they're gonna run outside zone to
- 37:56Speaker 3: the right, and they're gonna run outside zone to the
- 37:59Speaker 3: right again, and then they'll probably do it fifteen more times.
- 38:02Speaker 3: So if you just load up on outside zone, they
- 38:06Speaker 3: like every once in a while will throw like an
- 38:08Speaker 3: inside zone or duo change up at you.
- 38:11Speaker 1: But it's not very frequent.
- 38:13Speaker 3: So, uh, you know, I think that this is a
- 38:16Speaker 3: lot of the yards that he's getting, Like they're only
- 38:18Speaker 3: like twenty something in rush EPA, Like they're not a
- 38:21Speaker 3: good run offense on the whole. But he's great. So
- 38:24Speaker 3: a lot of the yards he's getting is him. You know,
- 38:26Speaker 3: he's broken the most tackles in football. You know, he's
- 38:29Speaker 3: like up there in yards after contact top five in
- 38:31Speaker 3: the league and yards after contact, So they don't they
- 38:35Speaker 3: don't really do much to help him.
- 38:36Speaker 1: Like he's he's kind of just.
- 38:38Speaker 3: Like the run against Buffalo, he just breaks the tackle
- 38:41Speaker 3: and takes it eighty yards to the house.
- 38:43Speaker 2: Yeah, Mike in Long Island, Mike, Mike, Hey, guys.
- 38:50Speaker 12: Hey, so is it time to retire the sacrificial X receiver?
- 38:58Speaker 2: Is it time to retire the sacrificial X receiver? I
- 39:02Speaker 2: have to explain that.
- 39:02Speaker 3: See, I don't think so, because I think Kaishan Booty
- 39:05Speaker 3: is playing the sacrificial X exactly how it's meant to
- 39:09Speaker 3: be played, like when.
- 39:10Speaker 13: He but it's not a sacrifice anymore.
- 39:13Speaker 14: He's been killing it.
- 39:14Speaker 9: He's got like every four points, So.
- 39:16Speaker 2: What you're saying, it's not a throwaway anymore.
- 39:19Speaker 3: So I think I get what he's saying, like, so
- 39:21Speaker 3: you know, like in historically the sacrificial X with birth,
- 39:25Speaker 3: because they're just running wind sprints out there and clearing
- 39:27Speaker 3: out coverage and not necessarily getting the ball. But I
- 39:31Speaker 3: think that the good versions of that that they have
- 39:34Speaker 3: have gotten the ball, but they're just running a lot
- 39:37Speaker 3: of verticals. Like I used the Brandon Lafel comparison. I
- 39:41Speaker 3: think yesterday, like Brandon Lfel got plenty of targets in
- 39:44Speaker 3: the offense, but it wasn't a diverse route tree, and
- 39:47Speaker 3: he's sticked to the boundary and like that's exactly what
- 39:50Speaker 3: Kaisehan Boody's doing. So I think he's like a great
- 39:53Speaker 3: version of game.
- 39:54Speaker 4: Like it's not like Matthew Slater, like we're never going
- 39:57Speaker 4: to throw it to him, They're just gonna run down
- 39:59Speaker 4: there every play and we're never going to throw it
- 40:01Speaker 4: to you. Booty's been outstanding in that role. I agree
- 40:03Speaker 4: with everything you guys just said.
- 40:04Speaker 6: Well, I was just going to piggyback when you said
- 40:06Speaker 6: with Josh McDaniels micd Up talking and Booty saying appreciate
- 40:08Speaker 6: your patience. I think that's, you know, something you're going
- 40:11Speaker 6: to be the sacrificial lex. You have to have some patience.
- 40:13Speaker 6: You might only get three or four targets a game,
- 40:15Speaker 6: but if you're on point, they might be a sixty
- 40:18Speaker 6: yard touchdown bomb or you know, that.
- 40:20Speaker 3: Was the best miked up we've ever done.
- 40:21Speaker 1: Now, maybe not just because it was. I wonder why
- 40:25Speaker 1: it was a good week, it was.
- 40:27Speaker 3: It was the best one we've ever done. Listening you
- 40:29Speaker 3: know to some of the football stuff that we were
- 40:31Speaker 3: able to put in there about you know, him saying,
- 40:34Speaker 3: all right, we're going to motion over here, and he's
- 40:36Speaker 3: going to go over there.
- 40:37Speaker 4: There he goes, and like just.
- 40:39Speaker 3: Knowing, like before it even happens what was going to
- 40:43Speaker 3: play out.
- 40:44Speaker 1: Turn your hips, turn your hips a little more inside.
- 40:46Speaker 1: There you go.
- 40:47Speaker 4: It's incredible, Like in the amount if you read the.
- 40:50Speaker 2: Comments on YouTube, people are just over the hill, over
- 40:54Speaker 2: the top.
- 40:55Speaker 6: What I said to Paul, I love too, is just
- 40:56Speaker 6: how he was so encouraging to Booty, and you know,
- 40:58Speaker 6: Booty saying, you know same. What impressed me was that
- 41:01Speaker 6: you got him to turn his hips in the details,
- 41:03Speaker 6: and Booty's saying, you know, like I'm listening to you,
- 41:05Speaker 6: and you know, you just you can tell when when
- 41:07Speaker 6: a player is buying what the coaches are selling.
- 41:09Speaker 1: And you know, we've had experiences.
- 41:10Speaker 6: Over the last few years where we had a lot
- 41:13Speaker 6: of questions if the players, you know, even believe the
- 41:15Speaker 6: coaches knew what they were doing. So, you know, I
- 41:17Speaker 6: think it's again it's another one of those things where
- 41:20Speaker 6: confidence equals production, which feeds more confidence, and you know,
- 41:24Speaker 6: now they're believing even more what those coaches are selling them.
- 41:27Speaker 6: So hopefully, hopefully Booty can keep it up. He's a
- 41:29Speaker 6: great story. I mean, you look at him as a
- 41:30Speaker 6: six round pick and what he's made himself into to
- 41:33Speaker 6: be a part of this offense. I don't know a
- 41:34Speaker 6: couple of years ago if anybody could have seen that
- 41:36Speaker 6: coming through two different regime changes that and all of
- 41:39Speaker 6: a sudden, Booty was going to be the one to
- 41:40Speaker 6: kind of emerge into a really solid role.
- 41:42Speaker 3: Yeah, the level of detail, and I miked up of
- 41:45Speaker 3: like just the predictability factor, like you know, talking about
- 41:50Speaker 3: like the Hunter Henry touchdown and he's like, all right,
- 41:51Speaker 3: we're going to motion and this is what they're going
- 41:53Speaker 3: to do, and now we're in the flat and touchdown.
- 41:55Speaker 3: Then it's like like to be that prepared for the
- 42:00Speaker 3: opponent and know exactly how all the chess pieces on
- 42:02Speaker 3: the board were going to move on any play. Is
- 42:04Speaker 3: like it shows how much work they put into, you know,
- 42:07Speaker 3: studying these opponents and getting to know the defenses and stuff.
- 42:10Speaker 6: I like the Drake thing too, where he just said,
- 42:12Speaker 6: you know, give our guys a chance against the guys,
- 42:15Speaker 6: you should give them a chance again.
- 42:17Speaker 1: Do you feel me? You know what I'm trying to say.
- 42:19Speaker 1: I felt part of that was he knew he was
- 42:20Speaker 1: miked up.
- 42:20Speaker 6: He didn't want to call out certain guys that they
- 42:22Speaker 6: knew were mismatches.
- 42:24Speaker 1: But no, I agree with that. I love that stuff.
- 42:27Speaker 2: Chase says he saw the clips with McDaniels. Seems like
- 42:30Speaker 2: he's doing a great job communicating with May on how
- 42:33Speaker 2: to read each play. Do you think this jump from
- 42:35Speaker 2: May comes from skill changes over the past year or
- 42:38Speaker 2: is it the effect of having the greatest o C
- 42:40Speaker 2: of all time?
- 42:41Speaker 6: Well, I mean, look at the whole the whole thing
- 42:43Speaker 6: is working right now. I think, you know, and we
- 42:45Speaker 6: can talk about what a coach's impact is.
- 42:48Speaker 1: But like Drake is just playing to his strengths. It's crazy.
- 42:51Speaker 6: I mean, you know, his ability to run. I mean
- 42:54Speaker 6: I still think there's things to go. You know, there's
- 42:55Speaker 6: still places to go.
- 42:57Speaker 2: Connor and Saint Paul, great conversation the other day of
- 43:00Speaker 2: whether Josh McDaniels is a tight pants guy. Before there
- 43:03Speaker 2: were tight pants guy, there were visor guys. Josh never
- 43:06Speaker 2: gave up on the visor.
- 43:07Speaker 3: That's true, he is advisor guy. Yeah, okay, I could
- 43:10Speaker 3: hear that.
- 43:11Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 43:11Speaker 3: I just think, you know, the improvement for Drake in
- 43:16Speaker 3: the pocket, his you know, pocket movement, the ball security
- 43:20Speaker 3: in the pocket, That to me is where he's I
- 43:24Speaker 3: think he could always throw the ball obviously, and he
- 43:27Speaker 3: could all I think he could read coverage at a
- 43:28Speaker 3: pretty high level too. I think he was doing that
- 43:30Speaker 3: his rookie season. But now they got him like understanding,
- 43:35Speaker 3: like the subtle movements in the pocket and not you
- 43:38Speaker 3: don't always need to move ten feet. Sometimes you only
- 43:41Speaker 3: need to move a little this way or a little
- 43:43Speaker 3: that way. And when he does it, he's, you know,
- 43:45Speaker 3: got two hands on the ball and he's protecting the
- 43:47Speaker 3: football while he's moving.
- 43:49Speaker 4: I think that that.
- 43:50Speaker 3: Growth has been you know, whether it's McDaniels or Ashton
- 43:54Speaker 3: Grant or whoever, like that, that's been very noticeable, all right.
- 43:58Speaker 2: Paul, you all right, Yeah, it look a little quiet today, A.
- 44:01Speaker 4: Lot of nose talk. Let I let the ball knowers
- 44:04Speaker 4: do that, right, Sorry Paul worries.
- 44:08Speaker 3: You could talk about x's and no's. You don't have
- 44:11Speaker 3: to say that. You don't break it down. It's not
- 44:15Speaker 3: my thing.
- 44:15Speaker 4: No, Actually I just watch. I don't. I don't break
- 44:18Speaker 4: it down. I've never watched a game over again, almost never.
- 44:21Speaker 3: I commend you for that because I you see a
- 44:25Speaker 3: lot for somebody that only watches.
- 44:27Speaker 4: And I'm not exaggerating. I I can't remember the last
- 44:30Speaker 4: time I rewatched a game like live. So in other words,
- 44:36Speaker 4: on Monday, I'm watching the game that I can't remember
- 44:38Speaker 4: the last time I did that, probably like oh two, yeah,
- 44:40Speaker 4: oh three.
- 44:41Speaker 6: I think there are different levels of it, though, like
- 44:43Speaker 6: I don't I don't ever claim to do what Evan
- 44:45Speaker 6: does on his Mondays. But you know, I like to
- 44:46Speaker 6: go back and look at plays and you know, maybe
- 44:48Speaker 6: look at certain players.
- 44:50Speaker 2: And I definitely look at plays. I do that because
- 44:53Speaker 2: I can't you can't take it all in. So like
- 44:56Speaker 2: certain plays, I want to see what was going on
- 44:58Speaker 2: that I missed yea, or I hear people talking about something,
- 45:01Speaker 2: let me see it for myself.
- 45:03Speaker 4: Yeah, that I do.
- 45:04Speaker 6: Yeah, I get some into like watching it out of
- 45:06Speaker 6: order though, and like doing you know, specific things, and
- 45:08Speaker 6: then the game gets jumbled in my brain. So then
- 45:11Speaker 6: like before we do the Monday Show, I have to
- 45:12Speaker 6: just like quickly watch the ten minute recap to like
- 45:15Speaker 6: reput all the plays in order for me because they
- 45:17Speaker 6: get all jumbled in my brain.
- 45:18Speaker 3: Yeah, because like I watch all offense and then all defense.
- 45:21Speaker 6: Yeah, you kind of forget you kind of miss the
- 45:23Speaker 6: like flow of the game a little bit, you know
- 45:25Speaker 6: if you do.
- 45:25Speaker 3: But you you see you see the chess match. Yeah,
- 45:29Speaker 3: like when you watch it all together, like that drive
- 45:31Speaker 3: to drive, you can see, Okay, this is what happened
- 45:34Speaker 3: on this drive and then they call this play this
- 45:36Speaker 3: this next drive because they call that play before and
- 45:39Speaker 3: so it makes it easier to see the sequencing of
- 45:41Speaker 3: the plays. But you do kind of miss the forest sometimes.
- 45:45Speaker 6: Yeah, you do these days. I like the defense and
- 45:48Speaker 6: then I usually drakes drop backs. Those are that's mine.
- 45:50Speaker 6: Those are my not a check it out, not.
- 45:52Speaker 3: A bad place to me.
- 45:54Speaker 2: Let's go to Sean and Vancouver. What's up Sean Vanouver?
- 46:02Speaker 13: You know a friend you talk a lot about the
- 46:05Speaker 13: registry and bring that up for people to look at
- 46:08Speaker 13: for where are they're going to find a great fan bar.
- 46:10Speaker 13: And I don't know if everyone realizes how amazing it is.
- 46:13Speaker 13: I was in Key West this past weekend and I
- 46:15Speaker 13: looked on the registry to find a place to watch
- 46:18Speaker 13: a game, and I found Dog Island and it was amazing.
- 46:22Speaker 13: Like I've been to lots of bars support I've never
- 46:24Speaker 13: seen a sports bar where the Dolphins game is relegated
- 46:27Speaker 13: to the corner, but half the other TV's and the
- 46:31Speaker 13: most prominent ones are showing the Patriots game and everyone
- 46:34Speaker 13: in there is a Patriots fan. We're all rooting and
- 46:36Speaker 13: cheering at the same time. It's it's just a great experience.
- 46:39Speaker 13: So people, you really got to like look into that
- 46:42Speaker 13: registry and if you don't have one in your area, see
- 46:44Speaker 13: if you can get one started, because it's a huge,
- 46:47Speaker 13: huge boost, especially now that the team's great again. So
- 46:51Speaker 13: that's terrific. The other question I have, and this is
- 46:54Speaker 13: a bit of a weird one, like the receivers are
- 46:58Speaker 13: really come through that. I love this receiver group and
- 47:01Speaker 13: I'm pretty sure you know they can be great next
- 47:04Speaker 13: year too. But I'd love to get Jeremiah Smith. So
- 47:09Speaker 13: is it possible for the Patriots to trade for a
- 47:13Speaker 13: twenty twenty seven first round pick so they can somehow
- 47:17Speaker 13: maneuver and select Jeremiah Smith? And really, have you know
- 47:23Speaker 13: drake to Smith as that All Star run.
- 47:26Speaker 4: That's a real craft shoot to I also don't want
- 47:29Speaker 4: to wait another year.
- 47:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I think Jeremiah Smith might be the number one
- 47:32Speaker 3: overall pick in the twenty twenty seven draft. Yeah, so
- 47:36Speaker 3: unless you can get to number one overallow.
- 47:38Speaker 2: Even if he isn't, like, it's still you're taking your chances.
- 47:41Speaker 3: Well, he's going to be top three, No doubt he'd be.
- 47:45Speaker 3: He'd be like a top ten receiver in.
- 47:47Speaker 4: I'm with Sean. I mean, he's tremendous, tremendous player, but like,
- 47:51Speaker 4: can we get someone like we have to wait another year?
- 47:54Speaker 4: I hear what he's saying.
- 47:55Speaker 3: I just it's not even that, Like, I just it's
- 47:58Speaker 3: totally not possible. Like unless they fall apart and they're
- 48:01Speaker 3: picking in the top five again, which Lord help us,
- 48:03Speaker 3: then like there's no way they're getting Jeremiah Smith.
- 48:06Speaker 1: Ryan Williams. Maybe you know Ryan Williams has fallen off
- 48:09Speaker 1: a little bit. I agree.
- 48:11Speaker 4: I've watched a lot of him, and I was talking
- 48:13Speaker 4: to Evan about this Alabama and I can I perk
- 48:15Speaker 4: up now because I come to the conclusion that Ty
- 48:18Speaker 4: Simpson is like the best quarterback in the country who
- 48:21Speaker 4: was like this fifty year guy who's never started and
- 48:24Speaker 4: was not really on my radar. In his first game
- 48:27Speaker 4: against Florida State was uneven to put it kindly, but
- 48:31Speaker 4: I've watched a fair amount of Alabama games because for
- 48:34Speaker 4: whatever he's on, but they're already but they're always on early,
- 48:38Speaker 4: which is great for me because, like I know, they
- 48:40Speaker 4: put their marquee games on and you know, in primetime
- 48:43Speaker 4: and Grandpa falls asleep, I don't make it through or
- 48:46Speaker 4: Big neon kickoff, Yeah, the Big newon kickoffs, Like that's
- 48:49Speaker 4: my wheelhouse, you know. And he's got a great arm,
- 48:53Speaker 4: he has excellent mobilities, get good size, much better athlete.
- 49:00Speaker 4: He's pretty good. And Ryan, just in watching a little
- 49:02Speaker 4: bit he has he's had some drops. Yeah, he's kind
- 49:06Speaker 4: of small, and he's gotten banged up a little bit.
- 49:08Speaker 4: Looks like, yes, some concussion issues. I'm not saying he's
- 49:11Speaker 4: not tremendously talented.
- 49:12Speaker 2: Because he is, but he's been kept up the pace.
- 49:14Speaker 4: He has not looked as good as he did last year.
- 49:16Speaker 4: He started well, Jeremiah Smith has.
- 49:18Speaker 3: He's starting to give off a little bit of not
- 49:20Speaker 3: and this isn't meant to be a knock, but like
- 49:23Speaker 3: he's more like Devonte Smith, I think than he is
- 49:26Speaker 3: in Jeremiah Smith's here. Jeremiah Smith's like Julio Jones two
- 49:30Speaker 3: point zero.
- 49:30Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that's a very good uh, you know,
- 49:34Speaker 4: both ways.
- 49:35Speaker 3: Ryan Williams a little slighter, you know, a little bit undersized,
- 49:40Speaker 3: you know. Yeah, that's twenty twenty seven.
- 49:42Speaker 4: We're not like And I did see at least one
- 49:45Speaker 4: Mark have Ty Simpson as a projected number one overall pick,
- 49:48Speaker 4: which blew me away because it's just like with this
- 49:52Speaker 4: guy's coming out of nowhere. Now it's a perfect thing
- 49:56Speaker 4: for Simpson because he's played really well and a lot
- 49:59Speaker 4: of the other posed top quarterbacks have not had great years.
- 50:03Speaker 4: Drew allers out for the year, and he wasn't great
- 50:05Speaker 4: when he was playing. Garrett Nosmeyer is in a mess
- 50:11Speaker 4: down there with LSU and Brian Kelly getting fired and
- 50:14Speaker 4: their offensive coordinator getting fired. Their offensive line is a mess. Obviously.
- 50:18Speaker 4: Will Campbell held that all together last year because they
- 50:21Speaker 4: can't make a pass without him getting killed. I like
- 50:25Speaker 4: the kid from Oregon more. Yeah, and I want to
- 50:30Speaker 4: see more of the Indiana kid. I haven't seen enough
- 50:32Speaker 4: of him. I only see highlights.
- 50:35Speaker 1: What do you think that you don't like Sellers?
- 50:37Speaker 4: I love the skill set, But why doesn't he yet?
- 50:41Speaker 4: I mean, if he's that and I know it's this
- 50:44Speaker 4: is silly, but if he's that good, shouldn't they be
- 50:47Speaker 4: a little bit better?
- 50:48Speaker 1: Now?
- 50:48Speaker 4: Last week against Alabama, he was the reason why they
- 50:51Speaker 4: stayed in the game. He was he made play after play.
- 50:54Speaker 4: I like him a lot. I don't know if he's
- 50:57Speaker 4: some Anthony Richardson vibes there.
- 51:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know.
- 51:00Speaker 3: Yeah, you know we're talking receiver next year though, Like
- 51:04Speaker 3: that's not Jeremiah Smith obviously, like Jordan Tyson is probably
- 51:08Speaker 3: the number one guy.
- 51:09Speaker 1: But Lemon from.
- 51:11Speaker 3: USC is getting a lot of like Puka Nikua type comps.
- 51:15Speaker 4: And I don't know much about him.
- 51:16Speaker 3: He's really talented too, and him and Cartonal Tate from
- 51:20Speaker 3: Ohio State are going to be like in the twenties somewhere.
- 51:23Speaker 3: So if that's if the Patriots are a playoff team
- 51:25Speaker 3: and they're picking somewhere in the twenties. I don't know
- 51:28Speaker 3: if receiver is really where they're going to need to go,
- 51:31Speaker 3: but if they end up going receiver, then those three
- 51:34Speaker 3: guys are all projected to go right now in the
- 51:36Speaker 3: first round, you know, outside the top ten, but in
- 51:39Speaker 3: the first round.
- 51:40Speaker 4: And I bring up all those quarterbacks, Freddy, because I think, yes,
- 51:44Speaker 4: this is a pretty deep class down and if you
- 51:48Speaker 4: can get these quarterbacks into the first round, that obviously
- 51:51Speaker 4: helps the Patriots.
- 51:52Speaker 2: Yeah. Also, I just conspiracy theories, the fact that it's
- 51:57Speaker 2: projected to be a good quarterback classes that have any
- 52:01Speaker 2: dotted lines to a lot of teams just not playing
- 52:04Speaker 2: well this year.
- 52:05Speaker 4: I don't think there are a lot of teams that
- 52:07Speaker 4: are going to be in that market. So that's you know,
- 52:10Speaker 4: I don't know. I mean there's certainly some you know,
- 52:13Speaker 4: New Orleans would be an example of a red flag
- 52:16Speaker 4: for you, you know, once Derek Carr stepped aside, you know,
- 52:21Speaker 4: it's like, all right, we're really going to go with
- 52:22Speaker 4: Spencer Ratler and then we're going to draft Tyler Shuck.
- 52:24Speaker 4: And now Rattler's out of a job, Shuck's going to
- 52:27Speaker 4: be in. So they're not going to win more than
- 52:28Speaker 4: three games. Yeah, it's they're going to be in They're
- 52:32Speaker 4: going to be in the market. But I mean, who
- 52:33Speaker 4: else how many Jets, the Jets, the Saints, the Browns.
- 52:38Speaker 15: Ye.
- 52:39Speaker 3: Yeah, this quarterback class has cooled off a little bit
- 52:43Speaker 3: for sure. Coming into the year, it was like, you know,
- 52:46Speaker 3: they thought maybe this was going to look like Drake's here,
- 52:49Speaker 3: you know, Drake Maje and Daniel's Caleb Pennox.
- 52:51Speaker 2: Arch Manning has kind of falling off.
- 52:53Speaker 1: Actually, he's looked a lot better. I think he's healthier.
- 52:56Speaker 4: I think it's and he's insisted and I know that
- 52:59Speaker 4: Evan and I sort of bicker about this one off air,
- 53:01Speaker 4: Like he insists the Manning family insists he's got no
- 53:03Speaker 4: plans to go anywhere.
- 53:04Speaker 2: Yea, he probably won't come out.
- 53:06Speaker 4: And that's that's my argument is always the Mannings generally
- 53:10Speaker 4: do what they say. That's right.
- 53:12Speaker 3: You know, the last couple of weeks he's looked better.
- 53:14Speaker 3: He got hurt at the end of the game last week.
- 53:16Speaker 4: That was an unbelievable comeback.
- 53:18Speaker 3: Yeah, but he's like coaching staff, he's looked a lot
- 53:22Speaker 3: physically better, Like he's throwing the ball. It's not looking
- 53:26Speaker 3: as weird. And you know, like it hurts every time
- 53:28Speaker 3: he throws the football, so maybe he was.
- 53:30Speaker 6: Hurt in the one other draft thing. I clucked, who
- 53:32Speaker 6: was he's clocking drafts? Clocked the draft thing? Well, you know,
- 53:35Speaker 6: you got to have the radar up. But Jordan Reid
- 53:36Speaker 6: said not not a great running.
- 53:37Speaker 1: Back class after love from Notre Dame.
- 53:40Speaker 6: Yeah, and so I know sometimes you just follow these
- 53:43Speaker 6: like ebbs and flows of oh, it's a great tight
- 53:45Speaker 6: end year or not. It seems like Patriots definitely will
- 53:47Speaker 6: be in the market for running back this year.
- 53:49Speaker 1: So something to know.
- 53:49Speaker 3: It's a great edge class, that that's the one that's
- 53:52Speaker 3: getting touted as like the number one part of the class.
- 53:55Speaker 3: Roubben Band for Miami is I've heard a lot of
- 53:57Speaker 3: that top five putting pick in this draft. But it's
- 54:01Speaker 3: it's a good edge class and like you could probably
- 54:03Speaker 3: get a pretty solid prospect.
- 54:05Speaker 2: Both just turned his car around.
- 54:07Speaker 3: Well he's already draft, he's already here, he's here for
- 54:10Speaker 3: the media. No kick but yeah, no, we did ten
- 54:14Speaker 3: minutes on how they need a kick returner, and he
- 54:17Speaker 3: was like arguing like against himself, Like I was like,
- 54:21Speaker 3: I'm not pushing back on the fact that they could
- 54:23Speaker 3: use an upgrade at kick returner. And he's going on
- 54:26Speaker 3: and on about how important it is now at the
- 54:28Speaker 3: new kickoff rules and everything, and I'm like, I don't
- 54:30Speaker 3: know who.
- 54:31Speaker 2: That The difference between the top kick return team and
- 54:34Speaker 2: the bottom is seven yards.
- 54:36Speaker 3: It's eight yards yard, yeah, thirty five to twenty seven.
- 54:40Speaker 3: They're Detroit Lions lead the league right now. They're at
- 54:44Speaker 3: their average starting field position after a kickoffs thirty five,
- 54:48Speaker 3: so it's eight yards over here.
- 54:51Speaker 2: He wanted to bring back Gunna Raschewsky. He did, and
- 54:54Speaker 2: I said, we've already got him. His name's Afton Chisholm.
- 54:56Speaker 1: You do.
- 54:57Speaker 4: He's I don't know if you will look gonna pick
- 55:00Speaker 4: one there. I agree with you. I don't think we
- 55:03Speaker 4: both think that means the same thing.
- 55:04Speaker 7: I know.
- 55:06Speaker 4: You're absolutely a half back already in your roster.
- 55:10Speaker 2: Eldred's in North Carolina. Hey, Aldred.
- 55:17Speaker 16: Yeah, I'm sitting in the rail yard right now.
- 55:21Speaker 2: Wait waiting for your dropping off or picking.
- 55:24Speaker 16: Up both dropping off in the pick up out of
- 55:28Speaker 16: here too, Okay, yeah, yeh. Kind of feel bad about
- 55:34Speaker 16: about the Dougger trade, but I understand why. But my
- 55:37Speaker 16: question is we can't get a linebacker or a safety
- 55:41Speaker 16: that can cover tight ends and backs out the backfield
- 55:44Speaker 16: or whatever.
- 55:45Speaker 15: You know.
- 55:46Speaker 17: That's that's one of my worries.
- 55:48Speaker 16: And Evan, I gotta disagree with you. Bro heard the
- 55:51Speaker 16: show this morning.
- 55:52Speaker 2: I want get outside.
- 55:53Speaker 16: Received sixth Street with speed to stretch the stretch the
- 55:56Speaker 16: defense and I let it go at that.
- 55:58Speaker 2: Don't have a good thanks are Evan? Are you anti
- 56:01Speaker 2: high production?
- 56:04Speaker 1: No? No, I know what he's saying.
- 56:05Speaker 3: I think it did take me a second, but we
- 56:09Speaker 3: were talking on the catch twenty two about the deadline
- 56:12Speaker 3: and possibly adding and I just look at the receiver
- 56:16Speaker 3: position where it's like, if it's.
- 56:17Speaker 1: Not like a J.
- 56:18Speaker 3: Brown, I I just don't know why they would add
- 56:21Speaker 3: like Kobe just another receiver.
- 56:23Speaker 4: I'm totally with you now you can steal a stud that.
- 56:27Speaker 4: I'm all for that all the time. But I don't
- 56:29Speaker 4: know the three four so I was.
- 56:31Speaker 3: I brought up my example. Myer is a good one.
- 56:34Speaker 3: I brought up Chris a Lave, whose name has been
- 56:36Speaker 3: floated around. I like chrys Olav a lot, but like
- 56:40Speaker 3: a lot, is he that much better than Kishan Boody?
- 56:44Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 56:44Speaker 4: I don't know if it's worth the risk of disrupting
- 56:47Speaker 4: that room exactly. And you know, I've seen a lot
- 56:49Speaker 4: of Shaheed. Yeah, you know, he does give you, like
- 56:53Speaker 4: obviously the speed element that maybe you don't have. But yeah,
- 56:57Speaker 4: that's I don't know if it's worth it unless it's
- 56:59Speaker 4: if it's like an aj Brown type. There's still a
- 57:03Speaker 4: discussion to be had there about the room, you know,
- 57:07Speaker 4: and disrupting the apple cart a little bit. But for
- 57:10Speaker 4: a talent like that, you might come out on the
- 57:12Speaker 4: other side and say it's worth the risk because this
- 57:15Speaker 4: guy is special. I like Chris Olave. I think he's good,
- 57:21Speaker 4: not great, and he also has significant concussion history.
- 57:25Speaker 3: No, you're exactly him exactly. What I was saying is
- 57:28Speaker 3: that room has come together so well on it.
- 57:32Speaker 4: It's one of the underrated elements of their success offensively,
- 57:36Speaker 4: is how well that room has come together. And I'm
- 57:38Speaker 4: not necessarily saying how well they've played on the field.
- 57:40Speaker 4: I'm saying how well they've come together.
- 57:42Speaker 3: Yeah, it's I mean, everybody kind of has a role.
- 57:45Speaker 3: Everyone sort of knows where their targets are.
- 57:47Speaker 1: You know.
- 57:47Speaker 3: Now, Matt Collins has had a couple of big games
- 57:50Speaker 3: and Booties keeps hitting the big plays down the field
- 57:52Speaker 3: and Diggs is kind of this straw that stirs the drink.
- 57:56Speaker 3: And even like Pop you know, has the forty four
- 57:58Speaker 3: yarder in the game on Sunday, Like they're all kind
- 58:01Speaker 3: of finding ways to contribute. And then all of a sudden,
- 58:03Speaker 3: if you add like Jacobe Myers back into that mix,
- 58:06Speaker 3: and now all of a sudden, who's getting probably the
- 58:09Speaker 3: odd man out there, and like it just upsets the
- 58:12Speaker 3: apple car like Paul is saying.
- 58:14Speaker 1: I thought that was highlighted to McDaniel's.
- 58:16Speaker 6: Thing was just Diggs talking to McDaniels, getting the marching orders,
- 58:20Speaker 6: finding what message Jo I need to send.
- 58:21Speaker 1: You can see he's really been a leader.
- 58:23Speaker 2: Mike cin Cincinnati.
- 58:26Speaker 9: Hey, fellas Mike Hey.
- 58:29Speaker 18: So two things don't bother the wide receiver room.
- 58:32Speaker 19: I think it's fine unless we get an A. J.
- 58:35Speaker 7: Brown.
- 58:36Speaker 18: I think that we could grow up with the guys
- 58:38Speaker 18: we have. And I've been watching a lot of like
- 58:41Speaker 18: sports talk, and it's interesting to me how they put
- 58:45Speaker 18: the Kansas City Chiefs like on this pedestal. But I
- 58:48Speaker 18: don't think they've beaten I don't think they've like beaten anybody,
- 58:52Speaker 18: just like we haven't really beaten a lot of hard competition,
- 58:55Speaker 18: so I'm just not understanding, like the.
- 58:57Speaker 4: Power ranking and how they what do you think you trust?
- 59:01Speaker 18: I mean the same thing I think of Bills.
- 59:03Speaker 4: So they they beat one of the better teams in football.
- 59:07Speaker 4: Then I mean a lot of people think Buffalo is done,
- 59:10Speaker 4: including the guy who's sitting to my left.
- 59:12Speaker 2: I think it's closing.
- 59:14Speaker 4: But Detroit you think, I mean, do you think they're
- 59:15Speaker 4: any good?
- 59:17Speaker 18: That's just stay will win.
- 59:18Speaker 19: I think they're great, but I also think that the
- 59:20Speaker 19: Bills are good.
- 59:22Speaker 18: But who else have they beaten?
- 59:24Speaker 4: So what are we talking about? Who else is? I
- 59:26Speaker 4: don't have Kansas City's whole schedule in front of me.
- 59:28Speaker 4: I know that they had one of the most difficult
- 59:29Speaker 4: schedules in football so far.
- 59:31Speaker 2: Though they play the Ravens in Week one, right.
- 59:34Speaker 4: They played Philadelphia, they played the Chargers before the Chargers
- 59:37Speaker 4: lost all their players. Have they beaten though, kints? I
- 59:42Speaker 4: just told you Detroit it's one of the best teams
- 59:45Speaker 4: in football.
- 59:46Speaker 19: That's it.
- 59:47Speaker 4: I understand that, But well, you only have one opportunity.
- 59:50Speaker 4: They beat Detroit, then they beat the Giants, they beat
- 59:55Speaker 4: the Giants. I don't know. I don't know every team
- 59:57Speaker 4: that they beat.
- 59:58Speaker 3: They beat the Commanders, the the Lions, the Ravens.
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: I think that was that with or without Lamar.
- 1:00:05Speaker 18: I don't know that that's right.
- 1:00:09Speaker 4: That was with Lamar. So there's two good wins by seventeen.
- 1:00:13Speaker 4: And they also lost to Philadelphia because Travis Kelcey can
- 1:00:16Speaker 4: no longer catch Mike.
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: Don't don't make fun of Kansas City. That's Paul's team.
- 1:00:20Speaker 4: No, But like this is like the thing that we
- 1:00:22Speaker 4: touched on yesterday. You wanted to get me engaged. Patriots
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: fans are back right the six and two. There's a
- 1:00:28Speaker 4: Super Bowl champion. Now, you can't even say that they've
- 1:00:30Speaker 4: had a soft schedule without getting someone's panties all in
- 1:00:33Speaker 4: a bunch. They've literally had the easiest schedule in the
- 1:00:36Speaker 4: history of football since nineteen seventy eight, since the sixteen
- 1:00:39Speaker 4: game schedule was instituted. And you can't say it now
- 1:00:42Speaker 4: you have to make fun of everybody else if you
- 1:00:44Speaker 4: want to say Buffalo hasn't played anybody. Now, I'm on
- 1:00:47Speaker 4: board because Buffalo has the same schedule the Patriots do well.
- 1:00:51Speaker 4: The AFCAST schedule is a joke. I know they're playing
- 1:00:54Speaker 4: the worst divisions in football.
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: But Buffalo is playing the first place team in all
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: those divisions.
- 1:00:59Speaker 4: That's only two games they've played.
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: Can't late Buffalo has had a tougher schedule than the
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: Patriots so far.
- 1:01:06Speaker 4: Yes, and I would only say because of Baldike, because
- 1:01:09Speaker 4: of the first game of the season Baltimore. Otherwise they've
- 1:01:11Speaker 4: played roughly like they played Carolina, they played the Jets,
- 1:01:15Speaker 4: they played Miami, they.
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: Didn't play the Troup haven't played Detroit, but.
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: No who they've played there. They despite the fact that
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: they finished first their schedule.
- 1:01:23Speaker 4: But they haven't played those teams yet and there's only
- 1:01:25Speaker 4: two of those games. One of them is this week
- 1:01:27Speaker 4: they played Kansas City.
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I just uh, like the Chiefs are what the
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: Patriots used to be. Like they are the proof of
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: concept team, Like they have the best quarterback in the sport,
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: they have maybe the best head coach in the league.
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: They are in the Super Bowl or the AFC Championship
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: Game every single year. So until that changes, they are
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: going to be ahead of a team like the Patriots
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: that are breaking out in a young quarterbacks career. Like that,
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: I don't understand. I'm with Paul in the fact that
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: I don't understand why everybody keeps calling in and saying,
- 1:01:59Speaker 3: why is Kansas City in Buffalo ahead of the Patriots
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: on power rankings?
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: Like, don'tually in one of them?
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: Buffalo's behind the Patriots, but right.
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: The team, these are teams that have been there routinely for.
- 1:02:10Speaker 4: I had no problem with that Patriots fan, And if
- 1:02:12Speaker 4: I'm a Patriots fan, I beat Buffalo, so I have
- 1:02:15Speaker 4: an argument there, Like I went to Buffalo and I
- 1:02:17Speaker 4: won that game, So I think the Patriots right now
- 1:02:20Speaker 4: should be ranked ahead of Buffalo in a power ranking.
- 1:02:23Speaker 4: But I'm not even talking about power rankings. I'm talking
- 1:02:26Speaker 4: about who they beat the Patriots. Patriots fans should never
- 1:02:30Speaker 4: say that to any team based on what's happened right now,
- 1:02:35Speaker 4: Like why would you mock any team for who they've
- 1:02:37Speaker 4: beaten based on you you beating? Literally? Is it the
- 1:02:41Speaker 4: worst five teams in Footballkay?
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: But is it mocking or is it really trying to
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: truly judge how good another team?
- 1:02:47Speaker 4: It's mocking? Well, you think it's my Kansas City? Why
- 1:02:49Speaker 4: is everybody giving Kansas City this left? They haven't beaten anybody,
- 1:02:52Speaker 4: That's how that just started mocking.
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: But it could be just someone trying to judge how
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: good is Kansas City this year?
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: You know who they.
- 1:03:01Speaker 4: Played, but and when you had Baltimore and Detroit and
- 1:03:04Speaker 4: you win ball, I'm like, like I do, Okay, I
- 1:03:07Speaker 4: don't really know what we're even on you.
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: And all, you know, everything supports Kansas City being a
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: great team.
- 1:03:13Speaker 4: Now are they better? I think they'll be back too.
- 1:03:17Speaker 4: If you want to argue, can we wait till they
- 1:03:18Speaker 4: actually are back before we just say they're back there
- 1:03:24Speaker 4: one game behind despite the whole world ending for the Chiefs,
- 1:03:28Speaker 4: they're one game behind the Patriots right one game.
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: They're playing better. They're all they got.
- 1:03:35Speaker 4: They got their players back there a big shock, and
- 1:03:38Speaker 4: they got better. I mean, and they would have beaten
- 1:03:41Speaker 4: Philadelphia if not for Travis Kelsey. I watched a lot
- 1:03:44Speaker 4: of that game. They all played Philadelphia for large chunks
- 1:03:47Speaker 4: of that game, even without all their players, no Worthy,
- 1:03:50Speaker 4: no Rice in that game.
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: It's still amazing to me how wide open he gets sometimes,
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: like not even like on his own, like on the
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: game on Monday Night, like he just catches a check
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: down from Mahomes, but.
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: He leaked out. He was he was yeah wucking and
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: then he.
- 1:04:04Speaker 3: I know, but like that doesn't usually go for a
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: thirty five yard play.
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: Oh you got a quarterback who can extend.
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: I know, but I like when I'm just saying, most
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: of the time, when you leak out and you hite
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: a check down to the tight end, you know, best
- 1:04:17Speaker 3: case scenario that goes ten twelve yards, this went for
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: like forty run anymore?
- 1:04:24Speaker 4: Like right, it sounds like I'm killing Kelsey had a
- 1:04:27Speaker 4: great career. He's clearly on the back nine, but he's
- 1:04:31Speaker 4: had He's had a good amount of drops this year.
- 1:04:33Speaker 4: He had another one that cost him an interception of
- 1:04:35Speaker 4: the night. So this is maybe I'm getting a little
- 1:04:38Speaker 4: defensive for this. So yesterday the NFL put out a
- 1:04:41Speaker 4: graphic with MVP candidates in it, right, and Drake May
- 1:04:44Speaker 4: is one of them. And you know, I did the
- 1:04:47Speaker 4: Patriots thing, and I make sure I've retweeted that saying
- 1:04:49Speaker 4: how much I still can't believe how.
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: Fast he the eyeballs.
- 1:04:52Speaker 4: Yeah, how fast he's injected himself into this and rightly
- 1:04:55Speaker 4: so and right so, but justified.
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: I believe you got to put that in the I
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: can't believe he's on this.
- 1:05:01Speaker 4: It's Drake May.
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: Feel great for the kid, It's Drake May.
- 1:05:05Speaker 4: Josh Allen Jonathan Taylor and Patrick Mahomes. Okay, you wouldn't
- 1:05:11Speaker 4: believe the amount of people said, what is Mahomes doing
- 1:05:13Speaker 4: on this list?
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: There's no one from the NFC on the list.
- 1:05:18Speaker 4: No, that was the list. Oh okay, how do the
- 1:05:21Speaker 4: kids do it? That's the list. I don't know. That's it.
- 1:05:26Speaker 4: That's the list. That's it, like officially official, right, let's
- 1:05:30Speaker 4: get them all out. There would be an NFC people
- 1:05:34Speaker 4: who question question Mahomes's you know, in the discussion. I'm
- 1:05:40Speaker 4: not saying leading candidate in the discussion for MVP based
- 1:05:43Speaker 4: on him keeping that team afloat by himself for the
- 1:05:46Speaker 4: first month and a half of the season. Yep, right
- 1:05:48Speaker 4: until Rice Unworthy came back. They're not serious people. I'm
- 1:05:53Speaker 4: going to do all though. All the kids thinks they're
- 1:05:56Speaker 4: just not a serious person. They're not serious. They're not
- 1:06:00Speaker 4: a serious football team.
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: Now he deserves to be honest, of course he does.
- 1:06:04Speaker 4: And yeah, I heard people saying, like, you see those
- 1:06:06Speaker 4: two terrible picks that he threw the other night, Well,
- 1:06:08Speaker 4: obviously you didn't watch the game.
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: One was off Kelsey's hands and.
- 1:06:11Speaker 4: The other one was actually a great play by Marshawn Latimore. Yeah,
- 1:06:15Speaker 4: but the one that Kelsey could not he could have
- 1:06:19Speaker 4: handed it to him, right, and then not only he
- 1:06:21Speaker 4: doesn't catch it, but it gets picked off right.
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: Christians in la Hey.
- 1:06:26Speaker 8: Christian, Hey, you got how why are you today?
- 1:06:30Speaker 4: Okay?
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: Great?
- 1:06:32Speaker 17: So quickly I didn't get the I didn't get my
- 1:06:34Speaker 17: chance to give my flowers yest day because I was
- 1:06:36Speaker 17: caught in the elevator when you got Probably, but I
- 1:06:38Speaker 17: just wanted to stay this and this sut of projected
- 1:06:41Speaker 17: forward for the rest of the season. Yes, this Sunday
- 1:06:44Speaker 17: that just passed. Yes, we played one of the best
- 1:06:46Speaker 17: defenses in football. We played one of the best defensive
- 1:06:50Speaker 17: ends in football, if not of all time, and he
- 1:06:53Speaker 17: had a record breaking game, the best game of his career,
- 1:06:57Speaker 17: and we still put up thirty points. So my question
- 1:07:00Speaker 17: comes this, what is the cteelings for this offense this year?
- 1:07:04Speaker 17: If we can do that with them, looking at the
- 1:07:06Speaker 17: rest of the defenses that we have to play, even
- 1:07:09Speaker 17: some of the defenses that we might meet in the playoffs,
- 1:07:12Speaker 17: what's the ceiling for this offense if we've already, in
- 1:07:16Speaker 17: my estimation, best one of the best defenses.
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: Well, I hear what you're saying. Christian But here's the thing.
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: You have to factor in what happens to this defense.
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: What happens to this offense when you have to play
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: another really good offense and now you know, you don't
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: feel so comfortable, and you know there's a lot of
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: pressure to score because Mahomes is putting up points too.
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: And of course that won't happen unless they get to
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: the playoffs. But you know what I mean. So let's
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: just say that the Falcons come in this week and
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: they have all these guys back and they're hitting on
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: all cylinders and it's a no punk game. What happens then?
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: You know, I'm hoping you're right. I'm hoping that they're.
- 1:08:00Speaker 4: What are you're looking for for an answer, we'll cut
- 1:08:02Speaker 4: to the chase.
- 1:08:03Speaker 17: Yeah right, I mean for me, I get the answer
- 1:08:07Speaker 17: I'm looking for. Even in that scenario, how does that
- 1:08:09Speaker 17: prevent us from scoring points?
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: We don't know.
- 1:08:12Speaker 4: We don't know because we haven't really been points when
- 1:08:15Speaker 4: you have to.
- 1:08:15Speaker 17: Yeah, okay, So again my question is what is the
- 1:08:19Speaker 17: feeling for the offense?
- 1:08:21Speaker 4: What you're looking at this is I think this is
- 1:08:23Speaker 4: as good as the offense can play. I think they've
- 1:08:25Speaker 4: been great for the large part of the last seven games.
- 1:08:27Speaker 4: I think the offense has been outstanding. Yeah yeah, I mean,
- 1:08:30Speaker 4: do you think that they're capable of much more than this?
- 1:08:34Speaker 17: I think I think that we can seriously be when
- 1:08:36Speaker 17: we first really get someone like the Trevia and himn
- 1:08:40Speaker 17: This has really worked into hit game. Josh is coming
- 1:08:43Speaker 17: into his own with his talent. It takes them with
- 1:08:45Speaker 17: a few games to look at and evaluate what his
- 1:08:47Speaker 17: talent is. But I think we have every single piece
- 1:08:50Speaker 17: on this team, and bear with me, in comparison to
- 1:08:54Speaker 17: what we had with the twenty and seventeen. We have
- 1:08:56Speaker 17: a field stretcher, we have a flat genius.
- 1:08:59Speaker 4: We have who's the field stretcher.
- 1:09:04Speaker 17: Okay, he's gotten behind more, He's got behind more cornerbacks.
- 1:09:08Speaker 4: Khan thing.
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: So here's the thing. So, so the real thing is, Okay,
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: you're wondering, how how much better can this offense be?
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: So let's just look at the Browns game. And thanks
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: for the call, Christian. Let's just look at the Browns game.
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: How much better would the offense be if they hadn't
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: given up six sacks, if they hadn't if Miles Garrett,
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: I like your first point better, Okay, but hold on
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: if he hadn't gotten five sacks, My question is are
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: they capable of that?
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: Like, that's my point.
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: Is the offensive line good enough to if they play
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: this game over, to not allow that. I don't know
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: the end.
- 1:09:45Speaker 4: So maybe gott Garrett doesn't get five if they play again,
- 1:09:48Speaker 4: but they the Browns probably get like four or five
- 1:09:51Speaker 4: sacks again as a team. Right So, because that's what
- 1:09:54Speaker 4: they get every game, that's what they allow every game.
- 1:09:56Speaker 4: Not the Browns, the Patriot because it was the second
- 1:09:59Speaker 4: most sacked team in football.
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: It wasn't a question of this is a really good
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: offensive line. They just had a bad day. This is
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: kind of like where the offensive line is right now.
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: They're a young you know, on one side, they're very young,
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: they're old. On the other side, they've got a journeyman center,
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: and they're kind of you know.
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: They're playing okay.
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: But if you're looking at something that a team that
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: can really get at the quarterback, that's the one weakness
- 1:10:23Speaker 2: I think the Patriots have right now on offense.
- 1:10:25Speaker 6: I mean, yes, but I'd also just say, if Drake
- 1:10:28Speaker 6: Man continues to play at this level, which I don't
- 1:10:30Speaker 6: think he will, I mean, you know, I think he's
- 1:10:31Speaker 6: very good. But this is like playing even above his
- 1:10:33Speaker 6: own head right now, like that me, is he going
- 1:10:36Speaker 6: that offsets that? I mean, they still won the game
- 1:10:38Speaker 6: by crazy pants, you know.
- 1:10:40Speaker 4: So much better than that. Can he play what did
- 1:10:43Speaker 4: you just say that? Which he's probably not going to right.
- 1:10:46Speaker 4: So he's he's on an unbelievable historic heater and people
- 1:10:51Speaker 4: are saying, can he get better?
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:10:53Speaker 4: Can the offense get better? I don't know, like how
- 1:10:56Speaker 4: much better he can play it? And he's doing right
- 1:10:58Speaker 4: and that's carrying the team. And the point I was,
- 1:11:00Speaker 4: you know, trying to get to is that as he
- 1:11:02Speaker 4: kind of drops off a little bit, I think he's
- 1:11:04Speaker 4: still going to be very good, but you're gonna need
- 1:11:06Speaker 4: more from the running game.
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: You're gonna need more from the past production.
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: Right, Let's go to Mike Vrabel.
- 1:11:12Speaker 3: Why was it important to extend Marcus.
- 1:11:16Speaker 17: Jones at this time?
- 1:11:19Speaker 20: I think it's something that you know, we've talked about
- 1:11:21Speaker 20: and wanted to, you know, I think he embodies everything
- 1:11:26Speaker 20: that we're we're looking for here and a and a
- 1:11:28Speaker 20: player and a teammate on the field, in the community,
- 1:11:33Speaker 20: you know, something that we were excited about doing and
- 1:11:35Speaker 20: glad that he uh, wanted to get that done and
- 1:11:39Speaker 20: and and be with us moving forward.
- 1:11:41Speaker 15: Mike Smith said last month that Kean White was going
- 1:11:44Speaker 15: to be a big part of what you guys do.
- 1:11:46Speaker 7: Why did you feel it was important to move on now?
- 1:11:50Speaker 21: Mm hmm.
- 1:11:51Speaker 20: You know, I think that, you know, just the timing
- 1:11:54Speaker 20: of everything and where we're at as a team, it
- 1:11:56Speaker 20: felt like it was, you know, the right thing to do,
- 1:12:00Speaker 20: and we'll get a lot of guys in that room,
- 1:12:02Speaker 20: and we just felt like at this particular time to
- 1:12:06Speaker 20: make those moves that we made with him and Kyle,
- 1:12:09Speaker 20: and you really got to make our focus here against
- 1:12:12Speaker 20: the Falcons, a team that we don't know much about,
- 1:12:15Speaker 20: haven't played in five years or four or five years.
- 1:12:18Speaker 20: So wish key On the best, wish Kyle the best,
- 1:12:22Speaker 20: appreciate their professionalism. And added some other guys here to
- 1:12:26Speaker 20: the roster toop ken.
- 1:12:28Speaker 8: I know he played the last preseason game, and give
- 1:12:30Speaker 8: him a shot there.
- 1:12:30Speaker 22: He's also someone who started camp as the kind of
- 1:12:33Speaker 22: first team starter role.
- 1:12:34Speaker 8: Why do you think ultimately just didn't work out with him?
- 1:12:36Speaker 20: Just I'm not trying to, you know, figure those things out,
- 1:12:40Speaker 20: trying to prepare the team for the Falcons and wish
- 1:12:44Speaker 20: him the best of luck, and we have a huge
- 1:12:47Speaker 20: challenge here again taking on his great skill team offensively
- 1:12:52Speaker 20: with a lot of speed and home run hitting ability.
- 1:12:55Speaker 20: The defense, it's hardly gives up a lot of yards.
- 1:12:59Speaker 20: Certainly tough throwing the football against him.
- 1:13:03Speaker 7: A J.
- 1:13:03Speaker 20: Terrell is having another fantastic gear Baits. If you make
- 1:13:06Speaker 20: a mistake, it'd be a turnover a lot of young rushers,
- 1:13:12Speaker 20: you know. So again, those are the things that I'm
- 1:13:14Speaker 20: focused on right now.
- 1:13:15Speaker 7: Like to that end, what kind of challenges is Bijon
- 1:13:17Speaker 7: Robinson present? Many? Many?
- 1:13:20Speaker 20: I think if you just if there's any crack, he's
- 1:13:23Speaker 20: gonna test our edge, he's gonna test our wall and uh,
- 1:13:29Speaker 20: he's gonna test everything we do about having guys swarm
- 1:13:32Speaker 20: into the football. There have been some good defenses that
- 1:13:35Speaker 20: he's been able to, you know, gain yards against and
- 1:13:38Speaker 20: their three victories the average one hundred and eighty six
- 1:13:40Speaker 20: yards a game on the ground. And it's not like
- 1:13:44Speaker 20: they're manufacturing a lot.
- 1:13:47Speaker 7: Not a lot of those are the quarterback. It's it's
- 1:13:50Speaker 7: Bijeon and and Algier.
- 1:13:52Speaker 8: I think you're seeing from.
- 1:13:54Speaker 20: Drake maybe before the snap, after the snap that's helping
- 1:13:57Speaker 20: him have success.
- 1:13:58Speaker 8: With the deep ball.
- 1:14:00Speaker 20: Well, I think there's a lot of trust there. I
- 1:14:02Speaker 20: think it starts with trust. I think just being able
- 1:14:04Speaker 20: to put it in a position where those guys can
- 1:14:07Speaker 20: make a play. So again, I think that there's one trust,
- 1:14:11Speaker 20: there's its location, and then guys are doing a good
- 1:14:14Speaker 20: job down the field.
- 1:14:16Speaker 7: I mean, we had one that.
- 1:14:17Speaker 20: Was you know, taken away earlier in New Orleans with
- 1:14:21Speaker 20: a with a tough you know decision there from from
- 1:14:25Speaker 20: the referee.
- 1:14:26Speaker 7: But you know, that's how it goes.
- 1:14:29Speaker 20: Even Remindres the other day, you know, Remindre comes down
- 1:14:32Speaker 20: with the ball, it's just you.
- 1:14:34Speaker 7: Know, a little a little wide.
- 1:14:36Speaker 20: And so again, I think the guys that he's been
- 1:14:39Speaker 20: throwing to have helped him. And I think he stays patient.
- 1:14:43Speaker 20: I don't think he you know, panics and launches it
- 1:14:48Speaker 20: or throws it seven yards out of bounds. And but
- 1:14:50Speaker 20: I think there's been a lot of improvement from from
- 1:14:52Speaker 20: training camp and seeing some of those passes. And I
- 1:14:57Speaker 20: don't think there was as many completed in the regular
- 1:15:00Speaker 20: season as there were in preseason. I'm glad they were saved.
- 1:15:03Speaker 20: I'm glad we saved them for the regular season. So
- 1:15:06Speaker 20: I think there's a lot of things that go into it.
- 1:15:09Speaker 20: Certainly when you do those longer developing routes, there has
- 1:15:12Speaker 20: to be a good pocket, you know, for the quarterback
- 1:15:15Speaker 20: to step up in. And I think that that's been
- 1:15:17Speaker 20: the case as well.
- 1:15:18Speaker 4: With with with things going so well played for you guys,
- 1:15:21Speaker 4: obviously five s three wins and a lot of handy wins,
- 1:15:24Speaker 4: uh is it almost challenging in a way to avoid
- 1:15:26Speaker 4: complacency setting in.
- 1:15:27Speaker 20: With I think that that's what we're always trying to
- 1:15:31Speaker 20: to do, is not allow these what have you good times,
- 1:15:38Speaker 20: you know, soften us up mentally and just let things
- 1:15:42Speaker 20: slip that you know we didn't you know, things we
- 1:15:45Speaker 20: weren't doing earlier in the season, or the way that
- 1:15:47Speaker 20: we prepare the things that we you know, want to
- 1:15:50Speaker 20: believe in as a as a team. And so it's
- 1:15:52Speaker 20: always a good reminder, especially in this league where anything
- 1:15:56Speaker 20: could happen. You know, we talk about having an identity,
- 1:15:58Speaker 20: and you know, the identity doesn't care where you play,
- 1:16:02Speaker 20: it doesn't care what time it is, and it doesn't
- 1:16:04Speaker 20: care what the score is.
- 1:16:05Speaker 7: It just either either have it or you don't.
- 1:16:09Speaker 8: I was going to say, I think you remember where
- 1:16:13Speaker 8: the season started.
- 1:16:13Speaker 15: You told us and the players echo that you want
- 1:16:16Speaker 15: to be a team who is be stronger in the
- 1:16:18Speaker 15: second half and first half the games and finished and paraphrasing,
- 1:16:21Speaker 15: but finished strong. Certainly something we saw in the last
- 1:16:24Speaker 15: week's game. What do you think are the commonalities that
- 1:16:28Speaker 15: have made this team stronger in that game?
- 1:16:30Speaker 20: And I don't think they're conditioning. I think that they're
- 1:16:32Speaker 20: working during the week. I think they practice hard as
- 1:16:35Speaker 20: you get into the second half of the game. I
- 1:16:37Speaker 20: don't think that that we panic based on where the
- 1:16:40Speaker 20: score is or who's getting the ball or you know.
- 1:16:45Speaker 7: I think we've adjusted well.
- 1:16:46Speaker 20: I think our players again, even little things maybe the
- 1:16:49Speaker 20: speed of the Browns.
- 1:16:51Speaker 7: And the defense. I think that's hard to recreate early
- 1:16:55Speaker 7: in the game.
- 1:16:56Speaker 20: Where there may be one run that we had early
- 1:16:59Speaker 20: in the game didn't look too hot, and come back
- 1:17:02Speaker 20: in it later in the game and you see, you know,
- 1:17:04Speaker 20: lineman getting off on the backer that's running through just
- 1:17:08Speaker 20: you know, half a step sooner and able to get
- 1:17:11Speaker 20: the block and get the back through as opposed to.
- 1:17:14Speaker 7: You know, maybe earlier in the game. It was you know,
- 1:17:16Speaker 7: it was a little.
- 1:17:17Speaker 20: Faster than what we had been able to show him
- 1:17:19Speaker 20: in practice, so the players do a good job of
- 1:17:22Speaker 20: adjusting to some of those things, and you know, can
- 1:17:26Speaker 20: still be better, you know, still too sloppy in some
- 1:17:28Speaker 20: situations and we'll need to you know, be great and
- 1:17:31Speaker 20: you know, much better in the red zone if we're
- 1:17:33Speaker 20: able to get down there this week.
- 1:17:35Speaker 4: Like Michael Pennix and it was obviously out last week,
- 1:17:39Speaker 4: and you'll have someone certainly to deal with.
- 1:17:40Speaker 7: I think he's gonna be ealth the other day. You know,
- 1:17:43Speaker 7: may have to just do a lot between him and cousins.
- 1:17:46Speaker 8: You have to prepare fully for both guys.
- 1:17:48Speaker 20: Well, I mean there's more mobility and you know which
- 1:17:52Speaker 20: hand you're gonna use the match, and you know, that
- 1:17:54Speaker 20: was the thing I was. I thought we did a
- 1:17:57Speaker 20: nice job getting our hand on the football that week
- 1:18:00Speaker 20: with eight PBUs and we got a couple with the
- 1:18:03Speaker 20: line of scrimmage and the pass rush situation and those
- 1:18:05Speaker 20: usually end up getting intercepted. So we'll practice, you know,
- 1:18:10Speaker 20: both ways, and you know, we'll have to make sure
- 1:18:13Speaker 20: that one's.
- 1:18:14Speaker 7: A little bit more mobile than the other and then
- 1:18:18Speaker 7: be ready to go.
- 1:18:19Speaker 20: I think that the concepts are similar, but you know
- 1:18:24Speaker 20: there'll be some different play styles that are different between
- 1:18:27Speaker 20: obviously Michael and Kirk.
- 1:18:29Speaker 8: When you put your game playing together, how much you
- 1:18:31Speaker 8: can all take a new account appreciating.
- 1:18:35Speaker 7: Uh No, I don't think that that's something.
- 1:18:39Speaker 20: You know, we remind him of some things, and maybe
- 1:18:42Speaker 20: whether it was last week with accrue to had called
- 1:18:44Speaker 20: a lot of line of scrimmage penalties or the things
- 1:18:46Speaker 20: we talked about on Wednesday, you know, starting early on
- 1:18:51Speaker 20: about make sure that the receivers are checking, that they're
- 1:18:54Speaker 20: looking over, they're looking at the foot, that the defensive
- 1:18:56Speaker 20: lineman if you think you're close back up. Told the
- 1:19:00Speaker 20: same crew that we had in Miami, and can explain
- 1:19:03Speaker 20: to those things and say, hey, you know, whether you
- 1:19:06Speaker 20: think you're in the neutral zone with this particular crew,
- 1:19:09Speaker 20: you probably are. And maybe you lined up the same
- 1:19:12Speaker 20: way for three weeks and had a different crew and
- 1:19:14Speaker 20: somebody called it differently. So we talk about those things,
- 1:19:17Speaker 20: but as far as game plan and I don't think
- 1:19:20Speaker 20: that that's something that would go into it. More more
- 1:19:23Speaker 20: reminders and about play style and things that we have
- 1:19:28Speaker 20: to do and what their mechanics are has.
- 1:19:32Speaker 21: Been instrumental in helping with the run game stopping minating
- 1:19:36Speaker 21: this season.
- 1:19:36Speaker 3: I'm considering you are going against thee on this speech.
- 1:19:39Speaker 3: Just what have you seen from him this season?
- 1:19:40Speaker 8: And just why is that he's so well?
- 1:19:42Speaker 20: I can you know, great teammate first and foremost, great
- 1:19:47Speaker 20: great person. I love being around him, play square, plays
- 1:19:53Speaker 20: with his hands, tries to control the blocker, plays with
- 1:19:59Speaker 20: great effort, and so those things usually help you. You know,
- 1:20:02Speaker 20: at the line of scrimmage defenses of this.
- 1:20:06Speaker 8: Year, was there any hesitation to shake up the roster
- 1:20:09Speaker 8: to start since things.
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: Have been going so well?
- 1:20:12Speaker 8: Would buy in and just chemistry on the team. Was
- 1:20:14Speaker 8: there any hesitation about the idea of shaking the roster
- 1:20:17Speaker 8: this week?
- 1:20:18Speaker 20: Again, I'll remind you we're eight games into to what
- 1:20:21Speaker 20: we feel like is, you know, a program that we
- 1:20:24Speaker 20: want to build and we have to continue to find
- 1:20:28Speaker 20: ways to improve, figure it and get it right. And
- 1:20:33Speaker 20: that's all we're trying to do. Whether that's having success
- 1:20:39Speaker 20: early on in the season or mid season or after
- 1:20:42Speaker 20: the trade deadline, whatever that may be. I think we
- 1:20:44Speaker 20: just have to continue to take that approach.
- 1:20:46Speaker 4: How big are the opportunities now for people like del
- 1:20:48Speaker 4: Pace and lets upon your how much were usual without
- 1:20:51Speaker 4: those guys?
- 1:20:53Speaker 20: Yeah, I mean, we we ask everybody to prepare as
- 1:20:55Speaker 20: a starter, whether they're on the practice squad or they're
- 1:20:58Speaker 20: on the active roster.
- 1:20:59Speaker 7: And I know that those guys have been doing that, and.
- 1:21:01Speaker 20: You know, we'll need everybody through this course of the season.
- 1:21:04Speaker 20: So that's that's important at every position. Alpins pash rushes
- 1:21:08Speaker 20: near the top of the league in exact rate time
- 1:21:09Speaker 20: the pressure blitz, right, I'm curious who and what have
- 1:21:12Speaker 20: you seen?
- 1:21:12Speaker 8: It's made them so effecting this season.
- 1:21:14Speaker 20: Well, they like to send five out of base, you know,
- 1:21:16Speaker 20: I mean, that's something that they like to do. You know,
- 1:21:22Speaker 20: I think that they they're penetrating. I think Amenora and
- 1:21:27Speaker 20: YadA has always been a really good player, you know,
- 1:21:32Speaker 20: being able to just get guys on the edge, you know,
- 1:21:35Speaker 20: being able to get walker back and seeing where they are.
- 1:21:38Speaker 20: And Harrison with his length inside, he's kind of like
- 1:21:42Speaker 20: a hybrid four technique I think, you know, I mean,
- 1:21:46Speaker 20: haven't seen him since he was in high school in Columbus.
- 1:21:49Speaker 20: He's gone from like two hundred pounds to now two
- 1:21:52Speaker 20: hundred and ninety, and that's just the unique matchup for
- 1:21:56Speaker 20: an interior defensive lineman if that that kind of has
- 1:22:00Speaker 20: that skill set who looks like an outside linebacker but
- 1:22:03Speaker 20: probably you know rushes inside.
- 1:22:06Speaker 7: So I think that's helped.
- 1:22:09Speaker 20: You know, I think that they just are kind of
- 1:22:10Speaker 20: getting it done by by by a group. They play
- 1:22:12Speaker 20: a lot of guys, and so by playing a lot
- 1:22:14Speaker 20: of guys, you get there, you get their best I
- 1:22:17Speaker 20: would say energy, and you know they're not there's some
- 1:22:23Speaker 20: games and schemes and other than that, it's usually one
- 1:22:26Speaker 20: on one and guys are winning one on one. Uh
- 1:22:28Speaker 20: So that'll put a big premium for us up front
- 1:22:32Speaker 20: when they get us into those five down situations, like.
- 1:22:35Speaker 22: They're also up there in terms of band coverage that
- 1:22:37Speaker 22: they play. Is that just again a staple of this
- 1:22:39Speaker 22: is what we do is how we want to player?
- 1:22:41Speaker 8: Do you see that? As the teams they face these.
- 1:22:43Speaker 7: Weeks week play and they do what they do.
- 1:22:46Speaker 20: They have some wrinkles, but they also have corners Like
- 1:22:48Speaker 20: you throw it on Torell, he's going to be really
- 1:22:50Speaker 20: close to his guy and he's going to challenge and compete,
- 1:22:55Speaker 20: and and the safeties obviously with with Baits and you
- 1:22:58Speaker 20: know his ability. But you know they put the backers
- 1:23:02Speaker 20: in coverage and then they all tackle. It's a good
- 1:23:05Speaker 20: tackling football team. So they don't really give up a
- 1:23:08Speaker 20: lot of big plays because of miss tackles, and they're
- 1:23:11Speaker 20: able to, you know, turn those catches have some space
- 1:23:15Speaker 20: maybe in the middlefield into a fifteen yard gain as
- 1:23:18Speaker 20: opposed to a twenty five or thirty yard game because
- 1:23:20Speaker 20: because of the way they tackle.
- 1:23:24Speaker 8: The way Drake handles the demands of that position.
- 1:23:29Speaker 20: Like wail that kill or from all accounts, I think
- 1:23:34Speaker 20: fairly well made, pretty low key guy. But you see
- 1:23:37Speaker 20: him in the community, you see him, you know, I
- 1:23:41Speaker 20: think that whatever you know, interest he has outside of football,
- 1:23:48Speaker 20: helping the community and the kids. And he was at
- 1:23:51Speaker 20: the Halloween party last night. It was always involved in
- 1:23:56Speaker 20: the Special Olympics, and so again I I don't really
- 1:24:01Speaker 20: monitor what he does a whole lot, but I know
- 1:24:04Speaker 20: that he's a great representative of this organization.

- 1:28:24Speaker 4: like the past rusher that I think people I think
- 1:28:26Speaker 4: everybody's sort of got blown away by those four sacks
- 1:28:29Speaker 4: in the first two games last year and thought like,
- 1:28:32Speaker 4: this is the fifteen sack guy, and I don't really
- 1:28:34Speaker 4: think that's his profile. I pushed back a lot with
- 1:28:38Speaker 4: Mike and Evan on the safeties when we talked about
- 1:28:41Speaker 4: Pepper's and Daggar are being on the outs because of
- 1:28:43Speaker 4: the system change and the scheme changes. And I still
- 1:28:46Speaker 4: would stand by that. I don't necessarily believe that they
- 1:28:51Speaker 4: that they can't operate in the way that they play
- 1:28:54Speaker 4: off in defense right now. I do, however, agree with
- 1:28:58Speaker 4: the system change not being a good thing for Keyon White.
- 1:29:03Speaker 4: I just think he's the classic tweener at two hundred
- 1:29:06Speaker 4: and eighty five, or so pounds. He's too big to
- 1:29:08Speaker 4: play the way they want the guys on the edge.
- 1:29:11Speaker 4: I think they brought Milton Williams in so there's really
- 1:29:14Speaker 4: no room for him. You know, you're not gonna take
- 1:29:16Speaker 4: Milton Williams and Christian Barber off the field as an
- 1:29:18Speaker 4: interior rusher on passing bounds. Why where does he fit?
- 1:29:21Speaker 2: My hope was with Williams and Barmore the attention they
- 1:29:25Speaker 2: got would help key On White on the outside.
- 1:29:27Speaker 4: But who are you taking off the field to put
- 1:29:29Speaker 4: him on?
- 1:29:29Speaker 2: Well, you know, whenever he was on, and he never
- 1:29:33Speaker 2: earned more spots, Like the limited time he was on,
- 1:29:36Speaker 2: he didn't earn more playing time.
- 1:29:37Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, and I also think I don't think
- 1:29:42Speaker 4: he was a problem per se, But I don't think
- 1:29:44Speaker 4: he was the easiest guy. No, you know, I think
- 1:29:47Speaker 4: he had something earlier this year. Masslive dot Com had
- 1:29:50Speaker 4: some quotes I think, you know, the the og Karen
- 1:29:53Speaker 4: Griggian had him. You know, he was playing sparingly, you know,
- 1:29:59Speaker 4: and he made a comment like they could put me
- 1:30:01Speaker 4: at corner as long as I'm getting paid it with
- 1:30:03Speaker 4: safety but whatever, you know, and I'll do whatever they
- 1:30:06Speaker 4: asked me to do. They're paying me as long as
- 1:30:08Speaker 4: they're paying me, you know, So, I mean there's context
- 1:30:11Speaker 4: to everything, but yeah, I can understand if they were like, yeah,
- 1:30:14Speaker 4: this guy's probably not long.
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: For our program.
- 1:30:16Speaker 7: Yep.
- 1:30:18Speaker 2: So yeah, that was the big news last night, Kyle
- 1:30:21Speaker 2: Dugar and Keon White being traded.
- 1:30:23Speaker 4: I do think Keon White has some ability. I just
- 1:30:26Speaker 4: think he doesn't fit perfectly into any system and he'll
- 1:30:31Speaker 4: always kind of be a I think, a part time
- 1:30:33Speaker 4: player because of that. Yep.
- 1:30:34Speaker 2: All right, but there's now six days left before the
- 1:30:38Speaker 2: trading deadline, so we'll see what happens. We'll see if
- 1:30:41Speaker 2: the Patriots are buyers. So far they've been sellers. Kyle
- 1:30:46Speaker 2: and Pembroke a little over undergame this week. I'm assuming
- 1:30:51Speaker 2: May passing yards two twenty five and a hay.
- 1:30:56Speaker 4: That's about the number that we've been doing every week.
- 1:30:58Speaker 4: I'm going to say over.
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: Me too, made passing touchdowns one and a hey.
- 1:31:04Speaker 2: I'll say over Okay, Robinson rushing yards seventy five and
- 1:31:08Speaker 2: a hay.
- 1:31:09Speaker 4: So I'm gonna break break the mold here. I'm gonna
- 1:31:12Speaker 4: say over. I just something worries me about him in
- 1:31:15Speaker 4: this game.
- 1:31:16Speaker 2: Okay, Pitt's receiving yards fifty and.
- 1:31:19Speaker 4: A hey, I'm gonna say under there.
- 1:31:24Speaker 2: And the over under total forty five and a hay
- 1:31:33Speaker 2: and a half twenty two points each under three points each.
- 1:31:37Speaker 4: I just had a yeah, I remember the score that
- 1:31:40Speaker 4: I've been using all week.
- 1:31:41Speaker 2: Uh, and Kyle predicts the Patriots will win twenty eight
- 1:31:45Speaker 2: to three.
- 1:31:46Speaker 4: Wow, I see what he did? You see what he
- 1:31:48Speaker 4: did there? Yeah, Falcons twenty eight to three. I don't
- 1:31:51Speaker 4: think you did.
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: I don't think you did that. You know what?
- 1:31:55Speaker 4: I got your shame on me? I got your game
- 1:31:57Speaker 4: on me.
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: Yep, got you too bad?
- 1:31:58Speaker 4: We wasted it. Without doucing would have he would have
- 1:32:01Speaker 4: exploited your email and made money off of it. Somehow.
- 1:32:03Speaker 2: I wonder if, without any prompting, if Deuce we'll pick
- 1:32:06Speaker 2: that as a score this week.
- 1:32:08Speaker 4: I don't believe he did.
- 1:32:09Speaker 2: Oh did you already know what? Score?
- 1:32:11Speaker 4: But we did it Monday for the TV show.
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: Oh okay?
- 1:32:15Speaker 4: And I try. I don't always succeed. I tried to
- 1:32:18Speaker 4: pick the same score every time I pick it, but
- 1:32:22Speaker 4: sometimes I forget all right. Sometimes I even changed the
- 1:32:26Speaker 4: team I picked to witt.
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: U Pennsylvania first off.
- 1:32:31Speaker 2: Phenomenal argument last week between Evan and everyone else. It's
- 1:32:35Speaker 2: nice now that the team is having some success. There
- 1:32:37Speaker 2: are things you guys can argue about. But my question
- 1:32:41Speaker 2: is what happened to the Evan has returned from practice song.
- 1:32:44Speaker 2: I'm assuming it has to do with timing. That's exactly
- 1:32:47Speaker 2: what happened.
- 1:32:47Speaker 4: It doesn't return from practice, right.
- 1:32:49Speaker 2: But that was a great segment and song, and I'd
- 1:32:50Speaker 2: love to hear how was the mood again if there
- 1:32:53Speaker 2: was any grousing among the media contingent. Well, you know
- 1:32:56Speaker 2: what we'll have to do. We'll have to follow up
- 1:32:58Speaker 2: with Evan the next day.
- 1:33:00Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, just to just to shoehorn the song into
- 1:33:03Speaker 4: the segment, right. Yeah, that's the problem is is practice
- 1:33:06Speaker 4: is now at the end of the show, yep, not
- 1:33:09Speaker 4: during the show.
- 1:33:10Speaker 2: All right, Ivans in California on the hotline. What's up, Ivan,
- 1:33:16Speaker 2: Hey Jens, how are you good?
- 1:33:18Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 1:33:19Speaker 9: Excellent, Paul. I think we're we're kindred spirits today. First off,
- 1:33:24Speaker 9: with the Chiefs, to me, you've got to be a
- 1:33:27Speaker 9: complete homer and don't know football if you can't plainly
- 1:33:30Speaker 9: see that the Chiefs are you know, the Chiefs are
- 1:33:34Speaker 9: the Chiefs. They are five and three and they add
- 1:33:37Speaker 9: two of the top weapons missing most of the season,
- 1:33:40Speaker 9: and now they're starting to cook. So they're going to
- 1:33:43Speaker 9: be the toughest out in the playoffs, full stop. And
- 1:33:46Speaker 9: the fact that anybody else can't see that, I think
- 1:33:48Speaker 9: is I don't know. To me, you don't have any credibility.
- 1:33:51Speaker 9: So I'm with you on that one. But when it
- 1:33:53Speaker 9: comes to the paths, you know, Brabel came in said,
- 1:33:57Speaker 9: we got to we've got to learn first how to
- 1:33:59Speaker 9: beat bad foot. Well, ye, well, as you mentioned, the
- 1:34:02Speaker 9: weakest schedule in the history of football has allowed us
- 1:34:05Speaker 9: to do that. And the reality is this a couple
- 1:34:08Speaker 9: of things. We've been injury free and that's just not
- 1:34:12Speaker 9: going to happen the whole year because it just doesn't.
- 1:34:14Speaker 10: It's football.
- 1:34:15Speaker 9: Secondly, the weather hasn't turned and we have to prove
- 1:34:19Speaker 9: that we can run the football and I'm still not
- 1:34:21Speaker 9: convinced with this offensive line that we're going to be
- 1:34:24Speaker 9: able to do that. So I hope that maybe we
- 1:34:27Speaker 9: can pick something up with the deadline. I'm not, you know,
- 1:34:29Speaker 9: holding my holding my breath on that. But yeah, reality
- 1:34:33Speaker 9: is we're six and two. After the last couple of years,
- 1:34:36Speaker 9: I'm just enjoying the ride.
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: Yeah, Yeah, thanks a lot, man.
- 1:34:41Speaker 4: I agree with a lot of what Ivan just just
- 1:34:43Speaker 4: had to say, and I would say, like, I want
- 1:34:45Speaker 4: to fixate on the Patriots part of it, because no
- 1:34:47Speaker 4: one cares about the Kansas City part. You're right, that's
- 1:34:52Speaker 4: what Rabel wanted to do. We want to get in
- 1:34:54Speaker 4: position where we could take advantage of bad football. And
- 1:34:56Speaker 4: I think that's tremendous progress that they've in such a
- 1:35:00Speaker 4: short period of time have not found a way to
- 1:35:03Speaker 4: get by against these bad teams. They found a way
- 1:35:06Speaker 4: to exert dominance at times over these teams. Now it
- 1:35:10Speaker 4: hasn't always been sixty minutes of dominance, but they've been
- 1:35:14Speaker 4: able to beat three different teams that are, in my opinion,
- 1:35:18Speaker 4: at the bottom of the league going away, Carolina, Cleveland,
- 1:35:23Speaker 4: and Tennessee. They've been able to take three of those
- 1:35:26Speaker 4: teams and win going away. I think that's tremendous progress,
- 1:35:30Speaker 4: and in such a short period of time.
- 1:35:32Speaker 2: And a little bit more comfortably than we thought they
- 1:35:34Speaker 2: would ever be able to.
- 1:35:35Speaker 4: Against the Bills, oh no, they played well against that's
- 1:35:39Speaker 4: part of this against Buffalo. But I'm just talking about
- 1:35:42Speaker 4: you want to get in a position to take advantage
- 1:35:44Speaker 4: of bad football. Well, to your point, against Buffalo, that
- 1:35:49Speaker 4: was the difference in winning the game. They took advantage
- 1:35:51Speaker 4: of Buffalo's bad football to returnovers and all those penalties
- 1:35:54Speaker 4: that night for Buffalo did them in and the Patriots
- 1:35:57Speaker 4: were good enough to take advantage of that year. I
- 1:36:00Speaker 4: don't think they would have won the game despite Buffalo
- 1:36:02Speaker 4: playing that sloppy.
- 1:36:03Speaker 2: Yep, Boston Cream on the line. What's up, Boston Cream?
- 1:36:09Speaker 19: Hey guys, I don't know if Christian in LA's blue
- 1:36:12Speaker 19: lemon suit is a little too tight and he's sucking
- 1:36:14Speaker 19: on the straw of a kale smoothie, there's not enough
- 1:36:16Speaker 19: air going to his brain. Marking debate was a much
- 1:36:20Speaker 19: better heel on this show.
- 1:36:22Speaker 4: Wow, Christian's a good heel. Yeah, I mean you got
- 1:36:25Speaker 4: to at least give him that. He's a good show heel.
- 1:36:28Speaker 2: The fact that you don't like him means he's a
- 1:36:30Speaker 2: good heel.
- 1:36:31Speaker 4: I means she's doing his job.
- 1:36:34Speaker 19: Dang it, we're seeing a year two quarterback take a
- 1:36:40Speaker 19: big leap, much like another quarterback in Patriots history, Drew Bledsoe,
- 1:36:45Speaker 19: how do the two sophomore seasons kind of looking comparison.
- 1:36:49Speaker 19: I'm not old enough to have that memory, and what
- 1:36:54Speaker 19: does Drake May need to do to her pastor Bledsoe
- 1:36:56Speaker 19: in Paul's mind.
- 1:36:58Speaker 2: Okay, this good one, thanks Boston.
- 1:37:01Speaker 4: This run that he's on has surpassed anything Drew Bledsoe
- 1:37:03Speaker 4: ever did. I mean we're just talking about this this
- 1:37:06Speaker 4: seven game streak. Yeah, I mean, Drew was great in
- 1:37:11Speaker 4: ninety four, but Drew didn't complete. Drew was lucky if
- 1:37:15Speaker 4: he completed sixty percent of his passes, let alone seventy five. Okay,
- 1:37:18Speaker 4: Drew was lucky if he threw more touchdowns than interception.
- 1:37:21Speaker 4: I think he threw more picks and I didn't touchdown
- 1:37:23Speaker 4: about what about he threw for fifty forty five hundred yards?
- 1:37:26Speaker 4: I'm not but Drew, what Drake May has done, it's
- 1:37:30Speaker 4: a different game. But what Drake May has done has
- 1:37:32Speaker 4: been more impressive.
- 1:37:32Speaker 2: What about the first half of the season after Drew
- 1:37:35Speaker 2: left the Patriots. Remember that when he went to Buffalo
- 1:37:39Speaker 2: and he was he had a good year as an
- 1:37:40Speaker 2: MVP candidate, that.
- 1:37:42Speaker 4: He had two good years in Buffalo h three and
- 1:37:45Speaker 4: oh four. He had actually a really good year in Buffalo.
- 1:37:48Speaker 4: But he's not he didn't do this ever. Now it's
- 1:37:52Speaker 4: a much different game. It's a much different game with
- 1:37:55Speaker 4: the passing the way that they do it now. But
- 1:37:59Speaker 4: you didn't have this kind of stretch of precise downfield
- 1:38:04Speaker 4: throws that that Drake may has had no way.
- 1:38:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I just remember that when he left the Patriots
- 1:38:11Speaker 2: that first half of the year, like he was leading
- 1:38:14Speaker 2: the league in passing. I think he was having an
- 1:38:17Speaker 2: incredible yew and then he tailed off.
- 1:38:18Speaker 4: Drew had his moments, but not not consistent like that.
- 1:38:22Speaker 4: I love Drew, you know that. But yep, I try
- 1:38:26Speaker 4: to be I try to be objective.
- 1:38:28Speaker 2: Jacka says, uh, does Fred want to reconsider his invitation
- 1:38:33Speaker 2: for Paul to get more engaged now that Paul has
- 1:38:35Speaker 2: become engaged. It's like the scene from Clash of the
- 1:38:37Speaker 2: Titans in which Zeus Orders released the Kraken.
- 1:38:40Speaker 4: He asked me, yeah, this is what you want.
- 1:38:43Speaker 2: All it took was a couple of callers. They get
- 1:38:46Speaker 2: you going.
- 1:38:46Speaker 4: Yeah. So and it is like my Krypton I and
- 1:38:49Speaker 4: I know it doesn't speak well of me.
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: It just you just don't like fans.
- 1:38:54Speaker 2: I just do admit it.
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: You don't like fans.
- 1:38:56Speaker 4: No, I don't like all fans. It's not it's not
- 1:38:58Speaker 4: that I don't like fans. There are plenty that I
- 1:39:01Speaker 4: that are like Ivan, when you just called in, it's like,
- 1:39:06Speaker 4: I don't like going from zero to Like last year,
- 1:39:09Speaker 4: I just got I got just as annoyed the other way. Fred.
- 1:39:12Speaker 4: Every game was like we stink, We're never gonna do it.
- 1:39:17Speaker 4: We can't do that, Like it was such like this,
- 1:39:20Speaker 4: like they were doing something personal to you.
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: I'm embarrassed.
- 1:39:23Speaker 4: Yes, that that like, and that bothered me every bit
- 1:39:26Speaker 4: as much, everything as much. And now all of a sudden,
- 1:39:29Speaker 4: you win a game, and then you win another game,
- 1:39:33Speaker 4: and you win three in a row and it bang. Yeah,
- 1:39:37Speaker 4: it's like completely flips the script the other way. And
- 1:39:40Speaker 4: now it's like, well, you know, we're back, like we've
- 1:39:43Speaker 4: never lost the game, and everybody around the league is like,
- 1:39:46Speaker 4: I can't believe the Patriots this script, like like why
- 1:39:49Speaker 4: can't you just like enjoy the ride? Why does everything
- 1:39:53Speaker 4: have to be such extremes? Yep, And like I said,
- 1:39:58Speaker 4: the last two years, the host game show like people
- 1:40:01Speaker 4: calling in, it's like a personal affront. Every loss was
- 1:40:04Speaker 4: a personal like attack on the on each caller.
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: Yep.
- 1:40:07Speaker 4: That wasn't any fun either.
- 1:40:10Speaker 2: Paul in the Colony has a quick question. Can you
- 1:40:12Speaker 2: explain how the Patriots are able to tear up the
- 1:40:15Speaker 2: final two years of Douglas's contract. Well, whatever portion of
- 1:40:18Speaker 2: that contract wasn't guaranteed now they're not going to have.
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: They did something.
- 1:40:22Speaker 4: They did something to tear up the contract. I don't
- 1:40:24Speaker 4: know what they did.
- 1:40:24Speaker 2: Well, they have to pay some of it.
- 1:40:26Speaker 4: I think they're paying some of this year. Yeah, but
- 1:40:29Speaker 4: they agreed, the parties agreed, and Dugger had to agree
- 1:40:32Speaker 4: to it in some way, shape or form that those
- 1:40:35Speaker 4: last two years are gone. He's on a one year
- 1:40:39Speaker 4: contract now, Ugger, so he's going to be a free
- 1:40:43Speaker 4: agent at the end of the year. They must have
- 1:40:45Speaker 4: had to pay Dugger had to do something to agree
- 1:40:48Speaker 4: to that. I don't know exactly. I don't know all
- 1:40:50Speaker 4: the details, but the email is right. There's that's not
- 1:40:53Speaker 4: a common that's not a common thing, and it allowed
- 1:40:57Speaker 4: the Patriots to get some flexibility for twenty six and
- 1:40:59Speaker 4: twenty seven.
- 1:41:00Speaker 2: So they must have just paid him something.
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: This year they're paid.
- 1:41:04Speaker 4: I don't know if they paid him any extra, but
- 1:41:06Speaker 4: they're paying some of his remaining contract for the rest
- 1:41:10Speaker 4: of this year. I don't know what the numbers. I mean,
- 1:41:12Speaker 4: I've I've read like rap report I think said they're playing,
- 1:41:16Speaker 4: you know, a good chunk of the deal this year.
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: I see.
- 1:41:20Speaker 4: I keep seeing vague terms like that, like a lot,
- 1:41:23Speaker 4: big chunk, and until someone actually tells me what it is,
- 1:41:27Speaker 4: I'm a little skeptical of that. Well, but I don't
- 1:41:30Speaker 4: know why the last two years of that deal completely gone.
- 1:41:33Speaker 7: Now.
- 1:41:34Speaker 4: I think Kyle Dugger and his representatives had to agree
- 1:41:36Speaker 4: to something. But you're right, maybe they gave him a
- 1:41:39Speaker 4: little something extra to agreeable.
- 1:41:41Speaker 2: Well can can the team he went to give him
- 1:41:43Speaker 2: more and then the Patriots paid for that, and that
- 1:41:46Speaker 2: was the agreement?
- 1:41:50Speaker 4: What do you mean?
- 1:41:50Speaker 7: What the like?
- 1:41:51Speaker 2: He goes to the new team, and the new team says,
- 1:41:54Speaker 2: we're gonna we're gonna rip up your old contract, right,
- 1:41:57Speaker 2: We're gonna give you a new one.
- 1:42:00Speaker 4: But they didn't give him a new one.
- 1:42:01Speaker 2: For this year, and the Patriots are going to pay that.
- 1:42:05Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't think that. I think he's just in
- 1:42:08Speaker 4: this contract this year or the contract like they I don't.
- 1:42:12Speaker 4: I don't have the details.
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: So maybe somebody is dangerous.
- 1:42:15Speaker 2: Somebody does.
- 1:42:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I haven't seen anybody yet. It's it's like the
- 1:42:19Speaker 4: Marcus Jones contract it's reportedly it's it's thirty six million
- 1:42:25Speaker 4: in new money three years, but like, is it a
- 1:42:27Speaker 4: three year to thirty six million dollar deal? So it's
- 1:42:30Speaker 4: not a thirty six million dollar guarantee. Because I saw
- 1:42:34Speaker 4: people talking about he got thirty six million guaranteed. I
- 1:42:37Speaker 4: don't think that's the case. I haven't seen those numbers
- 1:42:39Speaker 4: yet either.
- 1:42:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:42:41Speaker 4: So I think sometimes with these contracts and these different things,
- 1:42:45Speaker 4: it's best to like wait a week or so, let
- 1:42:48Speaker 4: the dust tuttle, and then someone will report the actual number.
- 1:42:50Speaker 2: But there's no there's no way a player in his
- 1:42:52Speaker 2: right mind's going to say, oh, yeah, just tear it up.
- 1:42:54Speaker 2: You don't have to pay me anything. So there had
- 1:42:55Speaker 2: to be something.
- 1:42:56Speaker 4: I would agree with you that that's that's why I
- 1:43:00Speaker 4: credit the email, or like there's something that's that's odd,
- 1:43:03Speaker 4: that's out of sort of you.
- 1:43:05Speaker 1: Know, out of the now.
- 1:43:07Speaker 2: Like I said, any portion of that contract that wasn't
- 1:43:09Speaker 2: guaranteed is gone, you know.
- 1:43:12Speaker 4: Yeah, but he had base salaries that were at least
- 1:43:15Speaker 4: partially guaranteed that had gone right right somehow, Like I
- 1:43:19Speaker 4: don't know.
- 1:43:19Speaker 2: Usually they accelerate well no, no, no, like this year.
- 1:43:25Speaker 4: He's still under contract. I don't think this year was touched.
- 1:43:29Speaker 4: I don't think this year was reduced. Whatever he had
- 1:43:32Speaker 4: partially guaranteed in twenty six and twenty seven has reportedly.
- 1:43:37Speaker 4: I should say, I'm not reporting this. This is what
- 1:43:40Speaker 4: the reports indicate have been eliminated.
- 1:43:42Speaker 2: What if his guarantees were roster bonuses.
- 1:43:47Speaker 4: If it was a guaranteed, I don't know, then he gets.
- 1:43:49Speaker 2: It, not if he's no, Like, what if they were
- 1:43:51Speaker 2: roster bonuses for the next two years, he doesn't. He
- 1:43:55Speaker 2: doesn't get those right.
- 1:43:56Speaker 4: Not unless he gets cut right, So he was you know.
- 1:44:01Speaker 1: No, Well, okay, I don't know.
- 1:44:03Speaker 2: I don't know. Well, maybe somebody can tell, like he.
- 1:44:05Speaker 4: Would be under contract for Pittsburgh. According to what people
- 1:44:09Speaker 4: are tweeting on the Dugger deal, those two years were gone.
- 1:44:13Speaker 4: They are now gone. They no longer exist again, this
- 1:44:17Speaker 4: is reported. I am not reporting any of this, right,
- 1:44:20Speaker 4: I don't have any of this information.
- 1:44:22Speaker 2: That would be history making the first player in history
- 1:44:26Speaker 2: to say you don't have to pay me what you
- 1:44:27Speaker 2: owe me. There had there had to be some something done,
- 1:44:31Speaker 2: some manipulation done in order to get this this deal.
- 1:44:38Speaker 2: Let's go to Mark in Connecticut.
- 1:44:41Speaker 7: What's up, Mark, How are we doing?
- 1:44:44Speaker 5: Guys?
- 1:44:45Speaker 2: Okay?
- 1:44:47Speaker 14: Oh, I never get a chance to get a hold
- 1:44:49Speaker 14: of you on the post game. You guys are always
- 1:44:51Speaker 14: too busy.
- 1:44:52Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, sometimes we get a little bit bogged down.
- 1:44:57Speaker 4: That's that's on us. We could do better with.
- 1:44:59Speaker 14: That, now, that's okay. Yeah, but no, Paul, I wanted
- 1:45:03Speaker 14: to get your take the kid from the Giants, that
- 1:45:08Speaker 14: edge rusher that might be available. What's his name?
- 1:45:11Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't think he's available. I think that's a
- 1:45:14Speaker 4: huge part of the Giants defense. I think they love
- 1:45:18Speaker 4: that three. They have Brian Burns, Kayshawn Thibodeau, and Abdul Carter,
- 1:45:24Speaker 4: the rookie out of Penn State, and I think they
- 1:45:25Speaker 4: love those guys. I mean again, I don't know that
- 1:45:28Speaker 4: for sure, but Trey Hendrickson is a guy train Yeah
- 1:45:33Speaker 4: you okay?
- 1:45:33Speaker 7: Mark?
- 1:45:34Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:45:35Speaker 2: Okay?
- 1:45:35Speaker 4: Oh high Mark, Yeah, no, I I that's what That's
- 1:45:39Speaker 4: what I'm looking at, Mark, is exactly what you are.
- 1:45:41Speaker 4: I want. I want an edge rusher. I think Trey
- 1:45:44Speaker 4: Hendrickson could be a possibility, you know, especially with that
- 1:45:48Speaker 4: Jets win over Cincinnati, that might be enough for Cincinnati
- 1:45:51Speaker 4: to say we are you gonna do it. But he's old, right, Paul,
- 1:45:56Speaker 4: he's like thirty.
- 1:45:58Speaker 14: Yeah, the kid from the Giants, though he is young,
- 1:46:01Speaker 14: So if you can.
- 1:46:02Speaker 4: That's why the Giants ain't gonna trade him, Okay, I
- 1:46:05Speaker 4: mean that would be my guess.
- 1:46:08Speaker 7: Yep.
- 1:46:09Speaker 14: Yeah, No, I know Ryan Cowden's got connections there. I
- 1:46:12Speaker 14: know Mike's got connections there. So I figured, you know what,
- 1:46:14Speaker 14: if there's anybody that can pull them away, it might be.
- 1:46:17Speaker 4: I think that'd be a great move. I would take
- 1:46:19Speaker 4: that in a heartbeat. Absolutely. I like it.
- 1:46:21Speaker 1: I like it all right, Thanks, Mark, appreciate the call.
- 1:46:26Speaker 4: So this is just like I just did a quick Google,
- 1:46:28Speaker 4: and you know, this is what comes up on the
- 1:46:30Speaker 4: like the AI overview. I don't know, Oh.
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: God, you know I'm going to go with Ani.
- 1:46:34Speaker 4: Dougars contract has been reworked as part of his trade
- 1:46:36Speaker 4: to Pittsburgh, wiping out the final two years of his
- 1:46:38Speaker 4: original four year extension. The Patriots will pay the majority
- 1:46:42Speaker 4: of his remaining five point five million five point four
- 1:46:45Speaker 4: million dollar base salary for twenty five and one million
- 1:46:48Speaker 4: in per game bonuses, making him a free agent after
- 1:46:51Speaker 4: this season. So it doesn't indicate any new money there, no,
- 1:46:55Speaker 4: it just says it's been.
- 1:46:56Speaker 1: Reworked, reworked and up and reworked.
- 1:47:01Speaker 4: So I don't know what the specifics are for that.
- 1:47:04Speaker 2: Yeah, Okay, who cares?
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: No, I'm just you know, I'm not getting that to you.
- 1:47:11Speaker 2: I'm just saying in general, who cares? You know what?
- 1:47:13Speaker 4: Yeah, he's Pittsburgh. He's Pittsburgh's problem.
- 1:47:15Speaker 2: Yeah, all these salaried things.
- 1:47:17Speaker 1: I don't.
- 1:47:17Speaker 2: It's not my money. Who cares.
- 1:47:19Speaker 4: I'm glad you finally see it my way.
- 1:47:22Speaker 2: Oh, I like but this next email, Jeff, who calls
- 1:47:26Speaker 2: himself the Southern Patriot, he's in Hickory, North Carolina. With
- 1:47:30Speaker 2: the move and trading key On Yesterday's at a foreshadowing
- 1:47:33Speaker 2: and maybe trading for Hendrickson. Bengals aren't going anywhere that
- 1:47:37Speaker 2: will slam the window on the Bill's fingers. So now
- 1:47:40Speaker 2: that would cost some money, right.
- 1:47:44Speaker 4: Yeah, whatever the pro rated portion of whatever his deal
- 1:47:48Speaker 4: has left. But yeah, that they have the money.
- 1:47:51Speaker 2: No, I know, but they'd have to spend some money
- 1:47:53Speaker 2: to get Hendrickson.
- 1:47:54Speaker 4: And they have to spend some draft capital too, probably. Yeah,
- 1:47:57Speaker 4: they're not going to just give him away, right, I
- 1:47:59Speaker 4: don't think you're going to swap a seventh round pick
- 1:48:01Speaker 4: for him.
- 1:48:01Speaker 2: No, they wouldn't be just get the Bengals, wouldn't be
- 1:48:05Speaker 2: just getting rid of him, get rid of money.
- 1:48:06Speaker 4: He's going to be out gone at the end of
- 1:48:07Speaker 4: the year anyway. Yeah, you're better off just keeping them
- 1:48:11Speaker 4: if you're not going to get anything for him.
- 1:48:13Speaker 2: So let's do it.
- 1:48:14Speaker 4: I would absolutely let's do it. I think that makes
- 1:48:16Speaker 4: a lot of sense. I meant to look up how
- 1:48:18Speaker 4: old he was. I think he's thirty.
- 1:48:21Speaker 2: Yeah, thirty. Thirty one kind of rings a bell.
- 1:48:27Speaker 4: Yeah, he's thirty. Yep, there'll be thirty one in December. Okay,
- 1:48:32Speaker 4: So I would do that, you know, a rental, one
- 1:48:35Speaker 4: year rental for him. No, I'm not giving up a
- 1:48:37Speaker 4: first round pick or anything, you know, but like mid
- 1:48:40Speaker 4: round pick, you'd give a third Yeah, maybe if I
- 1:48:43Speaker 4: had to. I don't know, if it seems high.
- 1:48:45Speaker 2: I think I would.
- 1:48:46Speaker 4: I think I would, But yeah, I mean I think
- 1:48:49Speaker 4: I think he would really bowl so the pass rush,
- 1:48:52Speaker 4: and I think they're really thin beyond Landry and Chase On.
- 1:48:57Speaker 4: I don't think they have much of their.
- 1:48:59Speaker 1: Nikola an Oslo Norway.
- 1:49:01Speaker 2: Yesterday, you discussed whether Booty was a Pro Bowl receiver
- 1:49:04Speaker 2: or not. In my mind, he's really good player who
- 1:49:07Speaker 2: does what is asked of him, but he's not a
- 1:49:09Speaker 2: Pro bowler. He's one of the very best wide receivers
- 1:49:11Speaker 2: in the AFC. Oh, he's not one of the very
- 1:49:15Speaker 2: best in the AFC. My question is whether the Patriots
- 1:49:17Speaker 2: have any players who you think, based on what you've
- 1:49:20Speaker 2: seen so far this season, would merit a Pro Bowl
- 1:49:23Speaker 2: selection other than Drake May. Maybe Marcus Jones as a returner.
- 1:49:27Speaker 2: I think that the fact that the Patriots lacked big
- 1:49:29Speaker 2: stars strengthens May's MVP candidacy.
- 1:49:33Speaker 4: I agree with that last part wholeheartedly, and I think
- 1:49:36Speaker 4: we made mention of that's I think was a big
- 1:49:38Speaker 4: part of Josh Allen's candidacy last year. Didn't have a
- 1:49:42Speaker 4: lot around him. I think Marcus Jones, yeah, as a returner, absolutely.
- 1:49:48Speaker 4: What about Milton Williams. Milton Williams is the guy that
- 1:49:51Speaker 4: I would bring up first. I don't know, you know,
- 1:49:54Speaker 4: I don't know how he stacks up, you know, statistically
- 1:49:57Speaker 4: to those other guys, you know, like Jeffrey Simmons and
- 1:50:01Speaker 4: uh yeah, Chris Jones. You know, those are the interior
- 1:50:04Speaker 4: guys that you know, I don't know all those different guys.
- 1:50:07Speaker 4: But yeah, Milton Williams, you know, Gonzales is always I
- 1:50:11Speaker 4: think he's I think he's considered one of the better
- 1:50:13Speaker 4: corners in the league now, so I think he's always
- 1:50:15Speaker 4: going to be in that mix coaches and players with
- 1:50:17Speaker 4: sartan In, uh In Stingly and those kinds of guys.
- 1:50:22Speaker 4: But he's right, they don't have a lot of guys
- 1:50:25Speaker 4: that stand up.
- 1:50:26Speaker 3: From the locker room.
- 1:50:27Speaker 17: What was the mood where the players friendly to that.
- 1:50:30Speaker 9: None of them looked like Derek Henry.
- 1:50:32Speaker 4: Hey, Mike, what was it like in the locker room, Mike?
- 1:50:39Speaker 7: What was it like?
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: Hello?
- 1:50:41Speaker 4: Everyone?
- 1:50:42Speaker 1: Hey Mike, I'm back. How you doing.
- 1:50:43Speaker 4: That's good?
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: Oh, I was busy. It was busy today. Lot of media.
- 1:50:47Speaker 2: Always been busy.
- 1:50:48Speaker 6: I mean, it's just picking up, picking up, And of
- 1:50:51Speaker 6: course Stefon Diggs always goes on Wednesday, so we had
- 1:50:53Speaker 6: a big media contingent crowding around his locker and me
- 1:50:56Speaker 6: and Cassidy, the camera person I was with, were like, man,
- 1:50:59Speaker 6: he's not gonna like this, you know.
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: But he was a good sport about it.
- 1:51:01Speaker 6: He weaved his way in and I thought an interesting
- 1:51:04Speaker 6: takeaway though a couple of things were he said he
- 1:51:07Speaker 6: gave the game ball for his first touchdown to the
- 1:51:09Speaker 6: training staff who helped him get back on the field,
- 1:51:12Speaker 6: and so that was that was That was a nice
- 1:51:14Speaker 6: just a nice thing, just a nice thing. And then
- 1:51:17Speaker 6: another funny question asked him about the Josh miked up
- 1:51:20Speaker 6: thing that we talked about, and he said he, I
- 1:51:21Speaker 6: didn't know he's miked up. So I think that's like
- 1:51:23Speaker 6: a it's not like an unwritten rule in football. You
- 1:51:24Speaker 6: got to one of these guys say hey, I'm miked up. Yeah,
- 1:51:28Speaker 6: but no good stuff from from Diggs at all, talking
- 1:51:30Speaker 6: about being a leader and you know, again he's a
- 1:51:32Speaker 6: veteran coming in here. And then we talked to Marcus
- 1:51:35Speaker 6: Jones as well, excited about the deal. Didn't realize he
- 1:51:39Speaker 6: didn't have an agent. He's the one who said he
- 1:51:40Speaker 6: negotiated the contract himself, which is always interesting. But excited
- 1:51:45Speaker 6: to be here, excited to stick with New England. This
- 1:51:47Speaker 6: is where he said he he wanted to be. And
- 1:51:49Speaker 6: lastly we talked to Christian Zalez who happy for Marcus
- 1:51:52Speaker 6: Jones and you know, felt you know, sad to see
- 1:51:56Speaker 6: key On White and Doug or go, but excited for
- 1:51:58Speaker 6: them to get a new start and I guess there
- 1:52:00Speaker 6: was a report today that Drake London's back at practice,
- 1:52:03Speaker 6: so he's looking forward to facing him.
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: I guess they did go against each other in college
- 1:52:07Speaker 1: a little bit.
- 1:52:07Speaker 6: I think it must have been back when Gonzalez was
- 1:52:09Speaker 6: a Colorado but said, you know, we're different players now,
- 1:52:13Speaker 6: I was a sophomore.
- 1:52:14Speaker 1: We were younger that he got me on a couple.
- 1:52:16Speaker 1: I got him on a couple. So something maybe to
- 1:52:18Speaker 1: look back at.
- 1:52:19Speaker 6: But seems like if if London's gonna play, it's probably
- 1:52:21Speaker 6: a really good thing for the Falcon.
- 1:52:22Speaker 2: So players were asked about dugg Er and White a.
- 1:52:26Speaker 6: Little bit, you know, and it's just, yeah, what are
- 1:52:28Speaker 6: you gonna doz and happy, you know, hope they do well. Yeah,
- 1:52:32Speaker 6: and then you know, and then dig saying, you know,
- 1:52:34Speaker 6: we got we got plenty on our plate to deal with,
- 1:52:36Speaker 6: but you know, wishing those guys the best. So uh yeah,
- 1:52:38Speaker 6: they know, back in shells and looks like it's getting
- 1:52:41Speaker 6: a little cold out there. You're seeing guys start to
- 1:52:42Speaker 6: bundle up. You can just you know, you just feel
- 1:52:44Speaker 6: the season kind of going by. And I don't know
- 1:52:47Speaker 6: if it's the fact that they're winning, but I think
- 1:52:48Speaker 6: just everybody you seem to talk to was like, my god,
- 1:52:50Speaker 6: it's already week nine, Like it just seems like it's
- 1:52:52Speaker 6: really going by fast, having fun. Yeah, I guess so
- 1:52:55Speaker 6: you guys know more about that than me. But it
- 1:52:56Speaker 6: feels like usually you know, the four win seasons, this
- 1:52:58Speaker 6: is about when it starts to grind to a hall
- 1:53:00Speaker 6: and they're like, oh my god, your career is sad.
- 1:53:03Speaker 6: We started on twenty nineteen or like a little taste
- 1:53:05Speaker 6: of Brady, you know, the playoffs, and before I know,
- 1:53:09Speaker 6: I want to get back to those thirteen wins seasons
- 1:53:11Speaker 6: for that's that's what we got to get.
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: My get one, that's what I want. That's what I want.
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: So it's good, but good vibes and I just packed,
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: you know, just continues to anyone, anyone notable.
- 1:53:21Speaker 4: There is a new guy who I think is somewhat notable.
- 1:53:25Speaker 4: Only they signed a guy to the practice squad. Running
- 1:53:27Speaker 4: back to Ernest Johnson. There's a guy who's had some.
- 1:53:32Speaker 10: Players.
- 1:53:33Speaker 7: Oh so.
- 1:53:35Speaker 1: Uh no, there are some familiar faces.
- 1:53:36Speaker 6: It's hard to tell where they're from though, you unless
- 1:53:38Speaker 6: you scope out there their badges or their you know,
- 1:53:40Speaker 6: their day passes, but certainly is increased and you know,
- 1:53:44Speaker 6: it's just it's a lot more of the vibe of
- 1:53:45Speaker 6: twenty nineteen when I got here, when it was like
- 1:53:47Speaker 6: oh Brady, oh Edelman, they go to Oh, let's go
- 1:53:49Speaker 6: to High Tower, you know, and you're hopping kind of
- 1:53:51Speaker 6: from scrum to scrum around star Player and you know,
- 1:53:54Speaker 6: now that's that's kind of coming back. You go to
- 1:53:55Speaker 6: Stefan Diggs, you go to Marcus Jones, you go to
- 1:53:57Speaker 6: Christian Gonzalez. You're starting to feel that the talent and
- 1:54:00Speaker 6: you know, just the desire for people to hear from
- 1:54:02Speaker 6: these guys.
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: And ask him questions. So it's so it's.
- 1:54:04Speaker 2: Good, all right. And uh, our Weekly Eye on Evan's
- 1:54:08Speaker 2: segment brought to us by Sonny's car Wash.
- 1:54:11Speaker 1: Where was Evan today?
- 1:54:13Speaker 6: He's in there. I just I kept catching eyes and good. Now,
- 1:54:15Speaker 6: granted I got to say.
- 1:54:16Speaker 2: He's lost in the scrum.
- 1:54:17Speaker 6: In my defense, I was buried in the dig scrum
- 1:54:20Speaker 6: and it took him a while to get out there,
- 1:54:21Speaker 6: so I wasn't able to clock Evan like I usually
- 1:54:24Speaker 6: am where I you know, say, oh, he's sidling up
- 1:54:26Speaker 6: to some phone or something.
- 1:54:30Speaker 1: Track him.
- 1:54:30Speaker 6: But uh, but no, he was, you know, he was
- 1:54:32Speaker 6: in there floating around. You know, he has the siddles
- 1:54:34Speaker 6: up and has his little conversations and you know, get
- 1:54:36Speaker 6: some insight onto the finer points of the exits and
- 1:54:39Speaker 6: nose he looked prefaces a lot of one of that.
- 1:54:41Speaker 6: You know, this might be a dumb question, you know,
- 1:54:43Speaker 6: but but the guys that I've seen at least are
- 1:54:45Speaker 6: always you know, I think I'm a.
- 1:54:47Speaker 2: Little worried because, like for the second day in a row,
- 1:54:49Speaker 2: I think he left the show a little bit. Uh
- 1:54:52Speaker 2: you know, I think it was good.
- 1:54:54Speaker 4: I thought he was good today today.
- 1:54:56Speaker 2: I don't think he likes arguing.
- 1:54:58Speaker 6: No, I think he I thought he was good to
- 1:55:00Speaker 6: day and we've got a lot of exits and no
- 1:55:01Speaker 6: talk at the expensive participating No.
- 1:55:04Speaker 4: I shared off the air with Fred that Evan has
- 1:55:08Speaker 4: made a goal of not arguing with Fred, and.
- 1:55:10Speaker 1: We certainly realized that Fred's like a master manipulator.
- 1:55:13Speaker 4: And it lasted two minutes and thirty seconds into the show.
- 1:55:17Speaker 1: We got an argument with The.
- 1:55:19Speaker 2: Way I take it from Evan is like it's not
- 1:55:21Speaker 2: even worth because he knows.
- 1:55:22Speaker 1: Nothing that's not exactly right exactly.
- 1:55:26Speaker 2: I can't have a argument with him or getting fired.
- 1:55:29Speaker 1: It's so funny, you bring that up though, because as
- 1:55:30Speaker 1: soon as the PFF and Fred was kind of like,
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: what's it the PF, Like he kind of did one
- 1:55:35Speaker 1: of those and I could just feel Evan all that,
- 1:55:36Speaker 1: like what what what? What's wrong with the PFF? Like
- 1:55:38Speaker 1: what what? What?
- 1:55:39Speaker 7: What?
- 1:55:39Speaker 1: Fred?
- 1:55:40Speaker 4: We could do shows. I could go on rants for shows,
- 1:55:43Speaker 4: but I'm not going to do that.
- 1:55:46Speaker 2: Yeah, we already had ours.
- 1:55:47Speaker 1: So we're done with.
- 1:55:48Speaker 4: With the whole locker room breakdown. Because I find an
- 1:55:50Speaker 4: interesting that's that's three running backs signed to the practice squad.
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: Yeah one and got moved to practice squad.
- 1:55:57Speaker 4: I ar yesterday?
- 1:55:58Speaker 1: Oh I didn't.
- 1:55:59Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, one of those still too. And Jared Johnson
- 1:56:02Speaker 4: is the kind of running back that I sort of
- 1:56:04Speaker 4: he wasn't one of you know, we were talking about
- 1:56:06Speaker 4: Jerome Ford. Just an NFL player, not a star, just
- 1:56:11Speaker 4: a guy who's been rounds a little. Yes, the Browns
- 1:56:13Speaker 4: and he was on the Titans. I think he's been
- 1:56:15Speaker 4: on the Cardinals. So he's around. He's not going to
- 1:56:19Speaker 4: move the needle. But that's a veteran running back that
- 1:56:23Speaker 4: gives you a little bit of a layer of depth.
- 1:56:27Speaker 4: I think he's a guy who's carried the ball in
- 1:56:29Speaker 4: the NFL before and can you know, be on the
- 1:56:32Speaker 4: practice squad and if it works out, it works out,
- 1:56:34Speaker 4: if he's got nothing left or whatever, you know, you
- 1:56:36Speaker 4: move on. Maybe he's gone in a day or two.
- 1:56:38Speaker 4: But I think there's another guy, so maybe edge Rusher Mike,
- 1:56:43Speaker 4: all right, a couple of quick calls, we'll wrap up
- 1:56:45Speaker 4: Edge Rusher.
- 1:56:46Speaker 2: Jerry's in LA. What's up, Jerry?
- 1:56:48Speaker 1: Hello, Jerry?
- 1:56:50Speaker 2: Yeah, part of hey, uh.
- 1:56:56Speaker 10: What is what is this great?
- 1:56:57Speaker 19: What is the treat of the thing this team needs?
- 1:57:00Speaker 12: Uh, you know, to get up a better and then
- 1:57:03Speaker 12: with the trees that you guys would like to see,
- 1:57:05Speaker 12: no matter the draft capital that we have to give up.
- 1:57:08Speaker 2: We just talked about it. Trey Hendrickson.
- 1:57:11Speaker 4: I mean, I'm that's my guy.
- 1:57:12Speaker 2: I'm willing to give a third for him and then
- 1:57:14Speaker 2: pay him, you know, the rest of his money. So
- 1:57:18Speaker 2: that's my guy. Yeah, I mean, you do that, and
- 1:57:21Speaker 2: somebody mentioned you do that and the window is firmly
- 1:57:24Speaker 2: slam shut off those fingers. Yeah, okay, okay, all right,
- 1:57:30Speaker 2: thanks Jerry.
- 1:57:31Speaker 6: I mean i'd throw shoot Thibodeaux, you know with with
- 1:57:35Speaker 6: why isn't you just had a call from Marking Connecticut,
- 1:57:40Speaker 6: who said the same thing.
- 1:57:40Speaker 4: Why are the Giants trading him?
- 1:57:42Speaker 1: Because they have three at rushers. They paid three guys,
- 1:57:45Speaker 1: really good players.
- 1:57:46Speaker 4: They didn't pay one of them is a rookie, right
- 1:57:48Speaker 4: and paid him.
- 1:57:49Speaker 1: But I don't know that's why.
- 1:57:50Speaker 4: Actually two of them are really good contract it sounds
- 1:57:52Speaker 4: like ideal to me, Like I have three studs at
- 1:57:55Speaker 4: this position. This is the centerpiece of my defense. But
- 1:57:57Speaker 4: you know, everybody, everybody else is with you.
- 1:58:00Speaker 2: Thomas is in La. Hey, Thomas, Hey, how are you
- 1:58:05Speaker 2: guys doing okay?
- 1:58:07Speaker 19: Hey, So I have a prediction.
- 1:58:11Speaker 12: I believe that the Patriots are going to trade for
- 1:58:14Speaker 12: Caveon Thibodeaux.
- 1:58:16Speaker 1: Yeah, so you who wrote this?
- 1:58:18Speaker 2: Who started this?
- 1:58:19Speaker 7: Someone?
- 1:58:20Speaker 4: Someone clearly started it. But if the Giants.
- 1:58:24Speaker 11: Doesn't agree, huh.
- 1:58:26Speaker 12: But I just have a feeling, and it would be
- 1:58:28Speaker 12: great because I'm from LA I'm gonna make my trip
- 1:58:30Speaker 12: out to Boston for the Giants game. I just I
- 1:58:33Speaker 12: have a feeling that he'll be on the Patriots when
- 1:58:35Speaker 12: I'm at that game.
- 1:58:36Speaker 4: I think that would be great. Question, I think that
- 1:58:38Speaker 4: would be great. That's I think it'll be perfect for
- 1:58:41Speaker 4: what they need. They need some juice on Thanks Thomas.
- 1:58:44Speaker 4: I like Thodeau.
- 1:58:45Speaker 6: I mean it's it's a little bit of a fantasy.
- 1:58:47Speaker 6: I would say, of like, wow, that would be a
- 1:58:48Speaker 6: real for a young player.
- 1:58:50Speaker 2: On our schedule. Does that decrease the odds of that happening?
- 1:58:54Speaker 4: No?
- 1:58:54Speaker 1: No, no?
- 1:58:55Speaker 6: And I mean I think if I was the Giants, though,
- 1:58:57Speaker 6: and I'm going to give up that piece, I want
- 1:58:59Speaker 6: something significant.
- 1:59:00Speaker 4: So what do you what do you think you would
- 1:59:01Speaker 4: have to give up for him?
- 1:59:02Speaker 2: M I mean maybe a second maybe.
- 1:59:04Speaker 4: Second or third. Yeah, I would do it me too.
- 1:59:08Speaker 4: I don't know if it would cost you that much.
- 1:59:09Speaker 4: I think it kind of always costs a little less
- 1:59:11Speaker 4: than you think. Yeah, but I would do it. My
- 1:59:15Speaker 4: only thing was just the Giants seem like they have
- 1:59:18Speaker 4: a little something going.
- 1:59:19Speaker 1: No, that's fair.
- 1:59:20Speaker 4: Why wouldn't he be part of their future because he's young? Yep,
- 1:59:22Speaker 4: still on his rookie contract.
- 1:59:24Speaker 6: Yeah, I you know, I just say to the connection, Shoot,
- 1:59:28Speaker 6: I'm gonna blank on the defensive coordinator for the Giants
- 1:59:30Speaker 6: last name name. But he you know, he was Rabel's
- 1:59:32Speaker 6: defensive coordinator too, So you think maybe there's some crossover
- 1:59:36Speaker 6: there in terms of philosophy and scheme and stuff. But
- 1:59:38Speaker 6: I think he's kind of the pipe dream. I mean,
- 1:59:39Speaker 6: Trey Hendrickson is an older player. That's usually the kind.
- 1:59:42Speaker 1: Of guys that get traded, you know, guy who I
- 1:59:44Speaker 1: don't know.
- 1:59:44Speaker 6: Tibota is probably what like twenty six, I mean, he's
- 1:59:46Speaker 6: still like young in his prime.
- 1:59:48Speaker 1: Might be a bit of a pipe dream, but that's
- 1:59:49Speaker 1: why we that's why we like to spect. All right,
- 1:59:51Speaker 1: that's gonna be it.
- 1:59:53Speaker 2: Bring him this edition of Patriots Unfiltered. We'll be back
- 1:59:56Speaker 2: tomorrow on Thursday with our final show of the week,
- 2:00:00Speaker 2: our picks, and until then, thanks for watching today.
