2:51
Speaker 2: Welcome to the show, Good morning, and happy Friday the thirteenth.
2:55
Speaker 2: Are you superstitious at all? I am a little state,
3:01
Speaker 2: not superstitious, little stitches, but not superstitious. Okay, I got
3:04
Speaker 2: you there, So what is it that give me? Give
3:07
Speaker 2: me an example of something that you're a little superstitious about.
3:10
Speaker 4: I absolutely refused to walk underneath any type of ladder.
3:13
Speaker 5: Okay, okay, broken mirrors, that's stuff.
3:17
Speaker 2: The only thing that I have. And it's not really
3:20
Speaker 2: I don't know if it's superstition. It's just because I'm weird.
3:22
Speaker 2: I have to do everything pretty much left to right,
3:25
Speaker 2: and like in the morning, left left sock goes on
3:28
Speaker 2: before right left shoe goes on. I do everything in
3:31
Speaker 2: my life pretty much left to right. I can't. I
3:34
Speaker 2: cannot do things right to left. That's that's I don't
3:36
Speaker 2: think that's superstition. I think that's just weird.
3:40
Speaker 4: It might be undiagnosed.
3:42
Speaker 2: I got a lot of the undiagnosed stuff.
3:45
Speaker 6: Uh.
3:45
Speaker 2: Let's get to uh or not be police. Spend of
3:47
Speaker 2: the week is always our our pet's pictures posted it
3:50
Speaker 2: Dave Allen Radio and Facebook and the WCA Chess Network
3:53
Speaker 2: Facebook page and at Dave a seventy on x tell
3:56
Speaker 2: us about tyrone.
4:00
Speaker 4: A tyrone. They're all named after the Backyardigans.
4:02
Speaker 2: There are four Okay, hold on, hold on, named after.
4:05
Speaker 4: The what the Backyardigans. It's a kid's TV show that
4:09
Speaker 4: was on in like the early two thousands.
4:11
Speaker 2: Okay, Ryan's shaking his head. I'm supposed to know what
4:13
Speaker 2: that is? Right, Okay, all right, the Backyardigans. Okay, I
4:17
Speaker 2: learned so much, you know, the combination between you and
4:20
Speaker 2: Ryan of doing this show. So Tyrone is named after
4:22
Speaker 2: a character on The Backyardigans.
4:25
Speaker 4: Absolutely, there are fu of them at our shelter. They
4:28
Speaker 4: arrived on Wednesday, actually via hu an officer. They were
4:33
Speaker 4: just little stray puppies and he is quite literally just
4:36
Speaker 4: a puppy. He's best friends with everybody. He's excited to
4:39
Speaker 4: meet everybody. He's three months old. He's not neutered yet,
4:43
Speaker 4: but he will be. We are currently running special for
4:47
Speaker 4: adoptions or a special for Valentine's Day on our adoption feees.
4:51
Speaker 4: He's only fourteen dollars to adopt and you get his newter,
4:54
Speaker 4: vaccines and microchip, flea meds Andy Warmer included in that
4:57
Speaker 4: fourteen dollars.
4:59
Speaker 2: And what kind of dog is Tyrone?
5:00
Speaker 4: Any idea that would be a West Virginia black and
5:04
Speaker 4: white dog Okay, I thought.
5:05
Speaker 2: That when I saw his picture, I thought I detected
5:08
Speaker 2: something in there, but I couldn't quite figure out what
5:10
Speaker 2: it was. It's something that kind of looked familiar to me,
5:12
Speaker 2: but I just couldn't put my finger on exactly.
5:14
Speaker 5: What it was.
5:15
Speaker 4: He might be like a bully mix of sorts that
5:17
Speaker 4: his ears stick straight out like, they don't go up,
5:20
Speaker 4: and they don't flop over like a bully mix would.
5:23
Speaker 4: He's just like literally or at like just a straight
5:27
Speaker 4: line out from his head.
5:29
Speaker 2: Well, I was trying to Yeah. I was talking to
5:30
Speaker 2: Chris Lawrence as he was getting off the Morning News
5:33
Speaker 2: this morning, and I said to you know, you really
5:34
Speaker 2: ought to adopt this dog. And he said, is it
5:37
Speaker 2: a pit bull or roth Weiler? And I said, it
5:39
Speaker 2: can be whatever you want. So we're gonna Chris has
5:42
Speaker 2: already got a couple of dogs, but he needs another one.
5:45
Speaker 2: This dog looks like a Chris Lawrence dog.
5:48
Speaker 4: Yep, he can be whatever. He actually just told me
5:51
Speaker 4: he will be whatever. Breathed that you guys need him to.
5:53
Speaker 2: Be whatever you need. And Angie, I don't want to
5:57
Speaker 2: confuse our pets here, but you have another story on
6:02
Speaker 2: your Facebook page. And I just read it and somebody's
6:05
Speaker 2: already texted about it. Appreciate the text about a dog
6:08
Speaker 2: named Buster. Now his picture is on the Facebook page.
6:14
Speaker 2: Buster has quite the story. Can you tell us Buster's story?
6:19
Speaker 4: Yeah? Absolutely So. Yesterday I was walking around our building
6:23
Speaker 4: and I heard sirens that sounded like they were in
6:25
Speaker 4: the parking lot. Are really close, And I walked down
6:29
Speaker 4: to our lower parking lot and I see across the
6:31
Speaker 4: street there's a handful of lights and sirens going off
6:35
Speaker 4: with the Kendall County Sheriff's Office, and one of the
6:39
Speaker 4: deputies that actually pulled in and said, Hey, we've got
6:41
Speaker 4: a dog over here. Do you guys care to come
6:43
Speaker 4: over and get it? So our team go over. Buster
6:47
Speaker 4: was very scared, understandably so with all the noise and
6:51
Speaker 4: just a lot of confusion going on. But what had
6:54
Speaker 4: happened was his owner was actually fleeing from the police
6:58
Speaker 4: on Greenbriar Street and just so happened to be stopped
7:02
Speaker 4: right in front of our shelter, which was, you know,
7:04
Speaker 4: extremely less lucky for Buster that, you know, our team
7:07
Speaker 4: was right there to respond really quickly. But ever since
7:11
Speaker 4: coming into our care yesterday, he's been super loose wiggly
7:14
Speaker 4: and very friendly. He doesn't quite understand what's going on.
7:18
Speaker 4: Why he's you know, at KHA, Why he was just
7:21
Speaker 4: you know, riding in the car with his mom and
7:23
Speaker 4: now she's not there. So one thing to take from
7:27
Speaker 4: this is your pets will miss you if you make
7:30
Speaker 4: silly decisions. Your pets are you know, are going to
7:35
Speaker 4: have to find other arrangements if you go to jail,
7:37
Speaker 4: if you are in the hospital, et cetera. So just
7:41
Speaker 4: consider your pets whenever you are, you know, making decisions
7:46
Speaker 4: for yourself and taking actions because once again, but like
7:49
Speaker 4: they they don't understand what's happening for sure.
7:52
Speaker 2: And so do we know what the status And again
7:54
Speaker 2: I don't want to step on any toes here, but
7:56
Speaker 2: do we know what the status of Buster's owners are
7:58
Speaker 2: at this point?
7:59
Speaker 4: The lady so, Buster's owner was arrested yesterday. You can
8:06
Speaker 4: find a lot of details on the Kenall County Sheriff's
8:08
Speaker 4: Office Facebook.
8:09
Speaker 5: I won't go into Okay, that's right now, that's fine.
8:11
Speaker 4: But she was arrested and Buster is in our care
8:16
Speaker 4: for ten days while we you know, while she makes
8:18
Speaker 4: arrangements for either herself or a family member or a
8:22
Speaker 4: friend or just somebody that she knows to come and
8:25
Speaker 4: reclaim Buster after that ten day period, if she has
8:28
Speaker 4: no you know, arrangements to get him out of doggy
8:31
Speaker 4: jail as essentially, then he becomes available for adoption and fostering,
8:36
Speaker 4: just like any other pets.
8:37
Speaker 2: Okay, so he's not available now because there's an opportunity
8:40
Speaker 2: for if this lady gets out or somebody in her
8:42
Speaker 2: family could come and claim the dog.
8:44
Speaker 4: Correct.
8:45
Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, all right, interesting story you every week, it's
8:48
Speaker 2: a different story with you, folks.
8:50
Speaker 5: It's something yesterday.
8:52
Speaker 4: Yesterday I uttered the words I said, I need things
8:54
Speaker 4: to just stop happening for a second, just for a second.
8:58
Speaker 6: Yeah.
8:58
Speaker 2: Indeed, the Dave Allen showing five Live has brought to

9:14
Speaker 2: don't know can hurt you. You guys out and about
9:17
Speaker 2: anywhere for Valentine's Weekend. Now that people can actually get
9:20
Speaker 2: out and about these days.
9:23
Speaker 4: We are not until mid next week. We're staying put
9:26
Speaker 4: at the shelter because we've had eighty seven total adoptions
9:30
Speaker 4: since Tuesday, so we're staying put. We're doing pretty good
9:34
Speaker 4: right right there at the shelter, and they need all
9:36
Speaker 4: hands on decks, so we're staying put this weekend.
9:40
Speaker 2: All right now, I do want to get a little
9:42
Speaker 2: plug in for Tuxes and Tails because tickets. I know
9:47
Speaker 2: it's not toil I think April twenty fifth, but tickets
9:50
Speaker 2: are already on sale.
9:51
Speaker 7: Is that right?
9:52
Speaker 4: Yes, tickets are on sale. You can visit our Facebook
9:55
Speaker 4: page four Tuxes and Tails twenty twenty six to get
9:58
Speaker 4: all the information. It is at a new venue this
10:01
Speaker 4: year with a new theme, so if you haven't been
10:03
Speaker 4: the last couple of years, definitely check out this year.
10:06
Speaker 2: Is that JQ Dickinson Salt Works right?
10:09
Speaker 4: Yes, correct. We're super excited about.
10:11
Speaker 2: L twenty fifth. We'll be talking plenty more about that
10:13
Speaker 2: as we get a little bit closer. Do we have
10:16
Speaker 2: anything else to report on the case of Stubbs and
10:19
Speaker 2: Stubbs was the dog we told you about a couple
10:21
Speaker 2: of weeks ago that was shot possibly thrown out of
10:24
Speaker 2: a window of a car, or possibly run over. Somebody
10:29
Speaker 2: dropped Stubbs off at the shelter. You were trying to
10:32
Speaker 2: do the life saving surgery on him. It got to
10:35
Speaker 2: a point that you just had to stop because his
10:37
Speaker 2: body just gave out. I know the investigation was continuing
10:40
Speaker 2: with Charleston Police Department.
10:42
Speaker 4: Any other updates on that, nothing new recently on The
10:46
Speaker 4: last update I got was that there was an investigation ongoing.
10:51
Speaker 4: That's about it. There's not really been any developments. And
10:56
Speaker 4: I did hear that like there is there may be
10:58
Speaker 4: a situation where there is no proof to you know,
11:03
Speaker 4: prosecute proof who pulled the trigger on this dog? Who
11:06
Speaker 4: exactly did this? So I just don't want to get
11:09
Speaker 4: everyone's hopes up.
11:10
Speaker 5: I got you.
11:11
Speaker 4: It may turn out that way, but as of right now,
11:14
Speaker 4: the investigation is still ongoing, so hopefully it will be
11:18
Speaker 4: in sub in our favor.
11:20
Speaker 5: All right.
11:20
Speaker 2: I want to go back because we get a text
11:21
Speaker 2: about Buster.
11:22
Speaker 1: This was the dog.
11:23
Speaker 2: This is not the one we're trying to We're trying
11:24
Speaker 2: to get him all adoptive, but Buster is not ready yet. Okay,
11:28
Speaker 2: But they wanted to know how what kind of shape
11:30
Speaker 2: Buster was in is he okay? He or she okay?
11:34
Speaker 4: Yeah? Buster was actually, I mean in pretty good health,
11:37
Speaker 4: other than being a little nervous around the Copson uniform,
11:40
Speaker 4: which you know, don't blame him. That can be scary,
11:44
Speaker 4: but he was in perfect health. And once he got
11:47
Speaker 4: to KHA, he's been perfect behavior wise. So he is
11:51
Speaker 4: a well taken care of dog if nothing else.
11:53
Speaker 2: All right, Angie, is always a pleasure to have you
11:56
Speaker 2: on the show, and we'll talk again next week and
11:59
Speaker 2: hopefully it calms down for you guys a little bit
12:00
Speaker 2: up there.
12:02
Speaker 4: Yeah, absolutely, thank you, all right.
12:03
Speaker 2: Angel gillla WAA Canal Charleston U Maine Association. Tyrone is
12:07
Speaker 2: the dog we're trying to get adopted this week. He's
12:09
Speaker 2: around three months old, just got to the shelter yesterday.
12:13
Speaker 2: A puppy, loves everyone and everything, and he's part of
12:16
Speaker 2: their Valentine's Day special today and tomorrow. Fourteen bucks you
12:20
Speaker 2: can get Tyrone and that will include the neutering, the vaccine,
12:24
Speaker 2: even the de worming, and the flea meds and the

Speaker 2: Well, you're always a trendsetter, judge, You're always a trendsetter,
15:51
Speaker 2: all right. So you got couples waiting right now. You
15:55
Speaker 2: know what you could do is you could put them
15:56
Speaker 2: on the air with me and I could give him
15:57
Speaker 2: some advice.
15:58
Speaker 4: How's that?
15:59
Speaker 10: That's how great you want me to go?
16:01
Speaker 2: No, no, I don't think because because in my luck,
16:04
Speaker 2: they'll probably say what station is this? You know now,
16:06
Speaker 2: I'm not gonna do that. I won't put them on
16:08
Speaker 2: the spot like that. So how long do the typical
16:10
Speaker 2: ceremonies take?
16:12
Speaker 10: So these these are all typical. We just have a
16:15
Speaker 10: script that we read. It usually takes between two and
16:18
Speaker 10: three minutes. Really, if people have things they want to say,
16:22
Speaker 10: we obviously let them say whatever they want to say
16:25
Speaker 10: and then remain afterwards to take whatever pictures they want.
16:28
Speaker 10: Because we have our arch made by balloons by Birdie
16:32
Speaker 10: ready to go, so we are photographed ready in here.
16:35
Speaker 2: It sounds good. It's a big shout out to those
16:37
Speaker 2: folks for getting involved with this as well. Now, all
16:40
Speaker 2: they got to do, if people listening right now they
16:41
Speaker 2: say let's go ahead, and let's go ahead and get
16:43
Speaker 2: this taken care of. They just got to go to
16:45
Speaker 2: the clerk's office and get there, get their license right,
16:48
Speaker 2: that's right, and then just come on in and there's
16:50
Speaker 2: no appointments necessary. But if someone, because you said you've
16:52
Speaker 2: already got three couples waiting right now, if someone, if someone,
16:56
Speaker 2: I'm gonna get you off here so you can get
16:57
Speaker 2: to them. So if somebody does want to call in
17:01
Speaker 2: and say, hey, we're coming down from this area, we
17:03
Speaker 2: would like to book an appointment or just let you know,
17:05
Speaker 2: just let you guys know that they're coming. What number
17:08
Speaker 2: do they need to call?
17:10
Speaker 10: They call three zero four three six seven zero three
17:14
Speaker 10: six seven. And actually, right as I took your call, Dave,
17:17
Speaker 10: someone was calling, I think from Bluefield and saying they
17:20
Speaker 10: were going to come down and get married today. So
17:22
Speaker 10: looking forward to.
17:23
Speaker 2: Well, we talked about when you were on the show
17:24
Speaker 2: with the other day, it's going to be a nice day,
17:26
Speaker 2: a little bit cool in the capital city, but it's
17:28
Speaker 2: sunny all day, so it'd be a great time for
17:30
Speaker 2: people to go ahead and get Mary, take a walk
17:32
Speaker 2: down to Boulevard or Magic Island or wherever they want
17:34
Speaker 2: to do, and just enjoy the capital city on this
17:37
Speaker 2: cold Friday the thirteenth.
17:39
Speaker 10: That's right, make your Friday the thirteenth special.
17:41
Speaker 2: All right, We're going to let you get back to
17:43
Speaker 2: it because you got We don't want anybody, you know,
17:45
Speaker 2: like changing their mind while they're out there in the hall,
17:47
Speaker 2: and I don't want that to be on over your
17:50
Speaker 2: head or my head, So we'll let you get back
17:51
Speaker 2: to it. Judge Mary Claire Day, Yeah, there you go.
17:54
Speaker 2: Everybody blames me for everything, Judge Mary Clare, akers appreciate it.
17:57
Speaker 2: We'll talk soon. Thanks a lot.
17:58
Speaker 10: All right, thanks Dave.
18:00
Speaker 2: All right again, that is going to be going on
18:01
Speaker 2: throughout the day. If you want to get married, now
18:03
Speaker 2: is the time. She's already got three in the in
18:07
Speaker 2: the in the bullpen ready to go. Maybe I should
18:10
Speaker 2: have put them on the air, you know, maybe I
18:12
Speaker 2: should have.
18:12
Speaker 7: Don't know.
18:13
Speaker 2: It's nine twenty five.
18:14
Speaker 1: Hey.

18:50
Speaker 2: is presented by Astorg Auto. I'm gonna presume we don't
18:54
Speaker 2: have Tony the Taylor yet, all right. We're working on
18:56
Speaker 2: Tony the Taylor right now. All right, So tell you
19:00
Speaker 2: what I'm going to do. I am going to while
19:03
Speaker 2: we are on the air here, I am going to
19:05
Speaker 2: actually send a text. This is real live radio here,
19:09
Speaker 2: and while we're trying to hook up with Tony the Tender. Well,
19:13
Speaker 2: the problem we have is is sometimes I'm going to
19:15
Speaker 2: give you a little inside baseball here. The problem that
19:19
Speaker 2: we have is people these days have their phones set
19:22
Speaker 2: up so if your phone is not in their contact
19:26
Speaker 2: doesn't let you call them, and it goes straight to voicemail.
19:29
Speaker 2: And you'd be surprised on a talk show how often
19:33
Speaker 2: that that happens when we call somebody and if we're
19:36
Speaker 2: not in their contacts, it goes straight to voicemail. And
19:39
Speaker 2: I have a feeling with the last two. That's what
19:42
Speaker 2: just happened The Dave Allen Show on five eighty Live

19:54
Speaker 2: Let's go to him right now. Good afternoon, good morning,
19:57
Speaker 2: Good whatever to you, sir.
19:58
Speaker 5: How's it going, Good morning, Dave, how are you all?
20:01
Speaker 2: I am doing fine, Thank you for being on the show.
20:02
Speaker 2: I want to give a little bit of time to
20:04
Speaker 2: talk about this winter clearance sale that you've got going
20:06
Speaker 2: on right now. It's going to wrap up today, right
20:09
Speaker 2: or is it just today.
20:11
Speaker 5: Today's the final day and we will be all spring
20:14
Speaker 5: by Monday morning.
20:15
Speaker 2: All right, what you got for us?
20:17
Speaker 5: I have some great deals with some pants up to
20:20
Speaker 5: ninety percent off, and we do ninety percent off of
20:23
Speaker 5: these because it's easy to figure the discount.
20:25
Speaker 2: Because we're not that smart here, okay, all right?
20:27
Speaker 5: And we also have a good selection left a sports shirts,
20:30
Speaker 5: especially large sizes, some double X and triple X because
20:34
Speaker 5: those Zimpic has changed the size scales. Again indeed, not
20:40
Speaker 5: much left and small a lot left in double X
20:44
Speaker 5: sport codes here for like forty nine bucks. Some sizes
20:48
Speaker 5: left yesterday. It started yesterday, and the course it's always slammed,
20:52
Speaker 5: and the first day is always the biggest day. Push
20:54
Speaker 5: does some things left and it's cash only on the
21:00
Speaker 5: y percent off stuff. But also we have brand new
21:02
Speaker 5: spring merchandise send us outstanding new sport coats here, good
21:07
Speaker 5: looking and we're giving an early bird discount is at
21:10
Speaker 5: twenty percent off. And I have some new Johnny o
21:12
Speaker 5: in which are hugely popular sports word brand.
21:16
Speaker 2: And what's going on here well with the winner that
21:19
Speaker 2: we've had h and again it's only lasted about two
21:21
Speaker 2: and a half weeks. It seems, but I think people
21:23
Speaker 2: want they want that springtime stuff, so it'd be nice
21:26
Speaker 2: to see that out there.
21:26
Speaker 5: And you know, the Legends a lot of spring stuff yesterday. Okay,
21:29
Speaker 5: this is kind of transitional spring. You know, some nice
21:31
Speaker 5: quarter zips and shirts. And got some cool new quarter
21:36
Speaker 5: zip from Johnny O. It's in a new performance fabric.
21:39
Speaker 5: It's been really hot. So we're we're on a third
21:41
Speaker 5: reorder of it and we just got it in four
21:43
Speaker 5: weeks ago.
21:45
Speaker 2: Well, give us real quick. I want you to tell
21:47
Speaker 2: me why people should should come into a store like yours,
21:51
Speaker 2: as opposed to just going to buying something off their
21:52
Speaker 2: act somewhere.
21:54
Speaker 5: Uh well, clothing, we're professionals and we're tailors. You know,
21:58
Speaker 5: you see people on TV either sleeves or down by
22:00
Speaker 5: their thumbs because they bought it at a chain store
22:03
Speaker 5: or a department store and they don't have tailors there
22:06
Speaker 5: they and and if they do, they're going to charge
22:09
Speaker 5: you for alterations. Us we have free alterations. You buy
22:12
Speaker 5: something from us free forever, lose weight, gain weight to
22:15
Speaker 5: bring it back. Also a quality we carry mostly first
22:21
Speaker 5: world country things of clothing made by adults.
22:24
Speaker 2: All right, and that's what that's what we need and support.
22:27
Speaker 2: A good Charleston business has been in business for a
22:30
Speaker 2: long time. Tony the Taylor Mike Pushkin State Democratic Party
22:33
Speaker 2: Chair and delegates going to be coming up next. He
22:35
Speaker 2: wanted to verify you did say pants were ninety percent off? Yes,
22:39
Speaker 2: your pants were ninety percent.
22:41
Speaker 5: As he's lost weight, his pants are almost ninety percent.
22:43
Speaker 10: Off now too.
22:44
Speaker 7: I'm sorry that just brought a horrible image to my mind, Tony,
22:47
Speaker 7: so pants.
22:51
Speaker 5: All right?
22:51
Speaker 2: What time you closing up today, Tony?
22:54
Speaker 5: We close it five thirty today, open up ten thirty,

23:33
Speaker 2: going to be in the building or on TV, but
23:36
Speaker 2: she didn't contribute to the show with a couple of
23:37
Speaker 2: interviews to including one with Major General Bill Crane that's
23:40
Speaker 2: coming up on the show today Friday means we're going
23:42
Speaker 2: to introduce you to another great eatery around the state.
23:44
Speaker 2: On the lunch spot segment today, we're going to focus

24:02

24:04
Speaker 2: West Virginia. Metro New's Midday Noon Today powered by a
24:07
Speaker 2: Slane gold Off. On this show Monday, Danny Jones is
24:10
Speaker 2: back from his sabbatical in California and it's almost time
24:14
Speaker 2: for another Dad jokes competition. Our friends Naili and Samantha
24:18
Speaker 2: from the West Side Neighborhood Association will join us to
24:21
Speaker 2: talk about that. Want to welcome to the show now,
24:23
Speaker 2: State Democratic Party chair and delegate from the fifty fourth
24:25
Speaker 2: Mike Pushkin, Welcome to the show.
24:27
Speaker 7: My friend, Good morning, good to see you. How's it going, man,
24:30
Speaker 7: that's going great. See now, I always like when the
24:33
Speaker 7: legislature is in session when you come in because you
24:35
Speaker 7: know you're all you're all dressed up. He didn't come
24:37
Speaker 7: right out of the gym like you normally do. And
24:39
Speaker 7: I's just about the jacket and pants both came from Tony.
24:44
Speaker 7: There you go, supporting local business they actually fit. Yeah, yeah,
24:48
Speaker 7: supporting local businesses. So what's so far?
24:52
Speaker 2: You're at the halfway point minus one day. How's it
24:55
Speaker 2: going under the dome so far?
24:56
Speaker 7: Well, yeah, It's always said every year, when it's all
24:59
Speaker 7: said and done, a whole lot more gets said than
25:02
Speaker 7: ever gets done. I'll start by going into the session
25:06
Speaker 7: we heard to offset the huge PIA premium increases that
25:12
Speaker 7: we're seeing. We're now looking at a fourth one since
25:16
Speaker 7: twenty twenty three, when the Republican supermajority passed this bill
25:22
Speaker 7: was Center Bill two sixty eight that led to these
25:25
Speaker 7: increased premiums for our state workers, for our teachers. That
25:29
Speaker 7: going into the session, I mean, the governor said we're
25:31
Speaker 7: going to do a pay raise. The Republicans and the
25:34
Speaker 7: legislature said we're going to do a pay raise. Even
25:36
Speaker 7: the governor in waiting, Treasurer Larry Pack, said, we're going
25:41
Speaker 7: to do a pay raise.
25:42
Speaker 2: Governor, where's the pay raise?
25:44
Speaker 10: Now?
25:44
Speaker 7: The Democrats have introduced a pay raise bill that is
25:46
Speaker 7: across the board, a much better bill. I'm not holding
25:49
Speaker 7: my bread for them for them to run that, but
25:52
Speaker 7: they're not running any pay raise bills. I don't think
25:54
Speaker 7: there's any appetite at all for the stuff that they
25:58
Speaker 7: were promising at the beginning of the session, which was
26:00
Speaker 7: a pay raise to offset these rising health care costs.
26:05
Speaker 2: So what about the income tax? I mean, there seems
26:08
Speaker 2: to be let's leave the Democratic Party out for a moment.
26:11
Speaker 2: There seems to be you know, the governor's proposing this
26:13
Speaker 2: tax cut he talked about in the state of the space,
26:15
Speaker 2: the state of the state. There's a lot of Republicans
26:17
Speaker 2: that have questions about it, saying, you know, we'd love
26:19
Speaker 2: to have it nobody wants to pay more taxes, but
26:21
Speaker 2: we just don't have We just don't have it.
26:23
Speaker 7: So well, it depends on which you know, which day
26:25
Speaker 7: you talk to the governor in the state of the state,
26:27
Speaker 7: he said ten percent, and what he introduced was a
26:29
Speaker 7: five percent, so he wants the legislature to make up
26:32
Speaker 7: the other five percent. Either way, what you're talking about
26:35
Speaker 7: to the average West virgin I'm not talking about for
26:37
Speaker 7: the millionaires, but for the average working West Virginian it's
26:42
Speaker 7: what maybe you know, it's it's pennies on the dollar.
26:45
Speaker 7: Really to that that kind of a ten percent or
26:48
Speaker 7: even five percent income tax cut, It's not really a
26:51
Speaker 7: whole lot of savings. It's not going to be life changing. Now,
26:55
Speaker 7: what would be It would be a bill that the
26:58
Speaker 7: Democrats are supporting I have proposed, which would be a
27:01
Speaker 7: freeze on rate increases for our utility rates, which West
27:06
Speaker 7: Virginia has seen the sharpest increases in the entire nation
27:09
Speaker 7: in the past several years. And that would give families
27:12
Speaker 7: real relief immediately if we froze the rates until we
27:17
Speaker 7: were able to get things under control and bring things
27:19
Speaker 7: back down to a reasonable level. Right now in West
27:21
Speaker 7: Virginia got families trying to make a decision on whether
27:23
Speaker 7: to keep keep the lights on or get groceries. I
27:26
Speaker 7: don't think a five percent or ten percent income tax
27:29
Speaker 7: cut is going to offset that.
27:31
Speaker 2: Our bill really does, that really does put.
27:33
Speaker 7: Money back into the pockets of working West Virginians.
27:35
Speaker 2: I want to step away just for a moment to
27:37
Speaker 2: the state stuff, and we'll get back to it here momentarily.
27:40
Speaker 2: There have been a lot of the national pundits, Mike,
27:42
Speaker 2: that have said that this is going to be a
27:44
Speaker 2: good year for the Democrats. And I don't mean I'm
27:46
Speaker 2: not talking about West Virginia right now, which may be
27:48
Speaker 2: a good year for them in West Virginia two, but
27:49
Speaker 2: I'm talking about on the national level because of Epstein files,
27:54
Speaker 2: because of the big word, the big buzzword for twenty
27:57
Speaker 2: twenty five slash twenty twenty six has been affordabil and
28:02
Speaker 2: in some races, many people have said, many people that
28:04
Speaker 2: are totally nonpartisan have said, this is going to be
28:08
Speaker 2: a good year for the Democrats. Well, it should be,
28:11
Speaker 2: and that was.
28:12
Speaker 7: Reflected in our candidate recruitment efforts. You know, we had
28:14
Speaker 7: a great organizing effort, but it wasn't all us. A
28:18
Speaker 7: lot of it was just the mood of the people.
28:20
Speaker 7: People are ready to step up and run because they
28:21
Speaker 7: can sense what appears to be happening here and that
28:26
Speaker 7: the president and it's always about unfortunately, it's always about
28:29
Speaker 7: national politics. But the president's numbers are rapidly, rapidly declining,
28:33
Speaker 7: and that's why you're seeing these efforts from what I see,
28:38
Speaker 7: and it's fairly scary to federalize the election. Now, that's unconstitutional.
28:42
Speaker 7: It's laid out in the Constitution that states run elections.
28:46
Speaker 7: Used to work for the Secretary of State's office, and
28:48
Speaker 7: I would like to commend our current Secretary of State,
28:52
Speaker 7: Chris Warner, for doing the right thing and standing up
28:55
Speaker 7: to Trump's Department of Justice. And you know, I hate
28:58
Speaker 7: to say that like that, but it is with Pam there.
29:01
Speaker 7: It's Trump's Department of Justice. But standing up to them
29:04
Speaker 7: and refusing to turn over this, you know, this voter data.
29:09
Speaker 2: It's a direct violation of West Virginia state law.
29:12
Speaker 7: Yes to do that, Yeah, that was personal information about
29:15
Speaker 7: people that should not be turned over to the federal
29:17
Speaker 7: government like that. And why do My question is why
29:20
Speaker 7: do they want it? Because it's an effort to federalize elections,
29:23
Speaker 7: which is unconstitutional. And they're doing this because I think
29:26
Speaker 7: they can also read the tea leaves and they're concerned
29:29
Speaker 7: about about the midtra as they should. But I think
29:34
Speaker 7: things tend to balance themselves out, and you're going to
29:36
Speaker 7: see more checks and balances in government when you have
29:40
Speaker 7: a more balanced government.
29:42
Speaker 2: I was going to bring that up about Secretary Warner
29:44
Speaker 2: because he was on talk line yesterday, and look, he
29:46
Speaker 2: just was steadfast and saying what they are asking not
29:49
Speaker 2: only West Virginia but other states to do is in
29:52
Speaker 2: West Virginia, it's a violation of the law in West Virginia,
29:55
Speaker 2: it's violation of the Constitution in general. And he said,
30:00
Speaker 2: and that's not something that is easy for a Republican
30:03
Speaker 2: to do in West Virginia. But I'm with you. I
30:07
Speaker 2: give him credit for that, and a similar people may
30:10
Speaker 2: forget this, Mike. A similar ask was made of Chris
30:13
Speaker 2: Warner's brother Mac in like twenty I want to say,
30:16
Speaker 2: twenty eighteen, when Trump the first was in office, when
30:20
Speaker 2: the first term was going to A similar ask was
30:23
Speaker 2: made then and Mac Warner also said no, and other
30:28
Speaker 2: states did as well. But I thought it was interesting
30:31
Speaker 2: that I think you guys on your social media went
30:34
Speaker 2: public and commended the current Secretary Warner and even shared
30:38
Speaker 2: a story on there. It's something you don't see out
30:40
Speaker 2: of the Democrats very often or any party, you know,
30:43
Speaker 2: commending the other side.
30:44
Speaker 7: Oh, don will give credit where credit is due. It
30:46
Speaker 7: is it does take courage to stand up to the
30:49
Speaker 7: president of the United States. And that's where it's coming from.
30:52
Speaker 7: And it's based on this this you know, this conspiracy
30:56
Speaker 7: theory that's been you know that the president has been
30:58
Speaker 7: clinging to for sixty years years that the twenty twenty
31:01
Speaker 7: election was rigged or stolen, and he can't you know,
31:05
Speaker 7: he wants to dwell on that, yet wants us to,
31:09
Speaker 7: you know, get over the Epstein files. He says, yeah,
31:11
Speaker 7: let's quit talking about the Epstein files. Let's talk about
31:13
Speaker 7: the twenty twenty election. Sorry, the Epstein files are not
31:17
Speaker 7: going away. The President, i believe, is mentioned about forty
31:20
Speaker 7: thousand times in those files. They need to be released
31:23
Speaker 7: unredacted for the protection of the victims, not the protection
31:28
Speaker 7: of the predators.
31:30
Speaker 2: And you would say that if because you know, there's
31:32
Speaker 2: been several other Democrats that have been mentioned that. Okay,
31:37
Speaker 2: I'm believe I want to make consistent. I know you
31:39
Speaker 2: would be yeah, don't.
31:40
Speaker 7: Yeah, Let's not protect the predators, Let's protect the victims.
31:43
Speaker 7: That's what's important. I mean, it was disgusting to see
31:45
Speaker 7: the victims sitting in that room while Pam Bondi sat
31:48
Speaker 7: there and was screaming about the dal Jones. It was
31:53
Speaker 7: it was insulting. It's insulting to every American and everything.
31:56
Speaker 7: So maybe that's why we're seeing more Republicans find the
32:00
Speaker 7: courage to stand up to this president because they're seeing
32:03
Speaker 7: that that you know, it's a sinking ship. Okay, and
32:08
Speaker 7: maybe it'll take a little longer in a state here
32:10
Speaker 7: like West Virginia, but it's coming. And we have a
32:12
Speaker 7: lot of great candidates on the ballot, up and down
32:14
Speaker 7: the ballot, and we're going to give voters choices, and
32:17
Speaker 7: voters are going to make the right choices, and we're
32:19
Speaker 7: going to restore some sanity to our government.

33:02
Speaker 12: they just spilled us a phenomenal.
33:04

33:17
Speaker 13: That's a distinction that's consistent with this Court's long standing
33:20
Speaker 13: understanding of what discrimination means.

33:58
Speaker 2: d line brought to you a fired by a Bridge
34:00
Speaker 2: Community and Technical College vis Bridge Valley dot edu, Bridge
34:03
Speaker 2: Valley Community Technical College. Your career starts here, State Democratic
34:06
Speaker 2: Party Chair, don'tleg at. Mike Pushkin is here tech says,
34:10
Speaker 2: I genuinely have no idea why women vote. Republican Republicans
34:14
Speaker 2: view women as lesser than men. Republicans want to force
34:17
Speaker 2: women to rape babies. Republicans would rather a woman be
34:20
Speaker 2: in pain or die rather than to have an abortion.
34:22
Speaker 2: Republicans are now trying to disenfranchise women's vote with the
34:25
Speaker 2: Save Act. When are women going to realize Republicans see
34:29
Speaker 2: them as second class? Well, I think more and more are.
34:33
Speaker 7: And that's why you're seeing this effort on a national
34:37
Speaker 7: level with the text are brought up the Save Act
34:40
Speaker 7: and that would be a you know, federal voter ID. Okay,
34:44
Speaker 7: now we have voter ID in West Virginia, and you know,
34:47
Speaker 7: a driver's license or a voter registration card, a.
34:51
Speaker 2: Proof of who you are.
34:53
Speaker 7: But this Save Act goes way further than that, something
34:55
Speaker 7: about a passport or a birth certificate. Now, in the
34:58
Speaker 7: case of a birth certificate, when women get married, oftentimes
35:03
Speaker 7: they changed their name. That's going to that could lead
35:06
Speaker 7: to the disenfranchisement of women voters. And you know what
35:08
Speaker 7: that A lot of the Republicans have been saying the
35:10
Speaker 7: quiet part out loud lately, saying that they are talking
35:13
Speaker 7: about repealing the Nineteenth Amendment, about not allowing well to
35:17
Speaker 7: be fair.
35:17
Speaker 2: I haven't heard anybody in West Virginia say Derek Derek
35:20
Speaker 2: Evans doesn't count.
35:21
Speaker 7: He was he was a member, he briefly for about
35:24
Speaker 7: five minutes. He was a member of the legislature and
35:27
Speaker 7: a former former delegate, former felon because President Trump did
35:31
Speaker 7: pardon him. But you know, it's also been said by
35:34
Speaker 7: Pete Haig Sith, who is the what the Secretary of War.
35:39
Speaker 7: It has been said by members of Congress said that
35:41
Speaker 7: because I haven't seen that in the past.
35:43
Speaker 2: Hag Seth has said that, Yes, Texas, Florida guy here, Dave,
35:47
Speaker 2: Remember you're talking to a Democrat, Mike Pushkin. The tax
35:49
Speaker 2: cuts Democrats is like showing dracket of the cross.
35:52
Speaker 7: Oh no, I mean nobody likes taxes, don't get me wrong,
35:56
Speaker 7: But when you're talking about a minuscule cut to the
36:00
Speaker 7: state income tax, that's really not going to give working
36:02
Speaker 7: families or Now that might be relief for millionaires and billionaires,
36:05
Speaker 7: and maybe your friend from Florida, maybe he's a billionaire
36:08
Speaker 7: and would benefit from something like that, but you know,
36:12
Speaker 7: for most West Virginians, it's not a whole lot of money.
36:15
Speaker 2: What we're talking about.
36:16
Speaker 7: Is real savings in regards to actually addressing these out
36:20
Speaker 7: of control utility rates here in West Virginia. And you
36:23
Speaker 7: do that without bankrupting the state. That way, you don't
36:27
Speaker 7: have to keep raising pei A premiums, you don't have
36:30
Speaker 7: to keep taking it out on essential services. When you
36:33
Speaker 7: find relief for folks that way.
36:36
Speaker 2: Texas, how are they going to raise wages when they're
36:38
Speaker 2: cutting taxes? It's not logical.
36:41
Speaker 7: Well that's a good question. But they promised both, right,
36:44
Speaker 7: I mean every one of them. The governor promised both.
36:47
Speaker 7: The Republicans and the legislature promised both. You know, Treasurer
36:51
Speaker 7: Larry Larry Pack has promised both. So I don't I don't.
36:55
Speaker 7: You're right, it doesn't add up. I want to go
36:57
Speaker 7: back to the Cannaba, Canada.
37:00
Speaker 2: That recruitment that that you and the state Democratic Party
37:03
Speaker 2: did on Wednesday show, I think it was we had
37:06
Speaker 2: Greg Thomas on the show on the Metro News. I
37:09
Speaker 2: heard part of that.
37:10
Speaker 7: I was driving.
37:11
Speaker 2: Greg Thomas came out and said, I want to give
37:13
Speaker 2: the Democratic Party credit, you know, for being able to
37:16
Speaker 2: get people to run in those positions.
37:19
Speaker 7: I think he understands because he was active with the
37:23
Speaker 7: Republican Party back when they were in a minority, and
37:27
Speaker 7: he knows how hard it is to get to get
37:29
Speaker 7: folks to run when you're recruiting them to run into
37:32
Speaker 7: an in you know, in the minority party. So yeah,
37:36
Speaker 7: I appreciate that. I mean, I think he knows what
37:38
Speaker 7: you know, what it, what it's taken, and the kind
37:40
Speaker 7: of organizing efforts that we put into it. I must say, though,
37:43
Speaker 7: I think other folks are paying attention to because there's
37:46
Speaker 7: a bill running now at his sponsor. The lead sponsor,
37:49
Speaker 7: of course, is is the chair of the West Virginia
37:51
Speaker 7: Republican Party, Delegate Josh Holstein from Boone County, and he's
37:55
Speaker 7: pushing a bill that would make it even harder, of course,
37:58
Speaker 7: for us to recruit candidates, because it's right now there's
38:01
Speaker 7: like a window for someone to run. If you're a
38:03
Speaker 7: Republican and you want to run as a Democrat, if
38:05
Speaker 7: you're a Democrat you want to run as a Republican,
38:08
Speaker 7: there's a certain time frame before you They want to
38:10
Speaker 7: lengthen that to six months and then add independence to
38:14
Speaker 7: it as well, to keep independence from running in one
38:18
Speaker 7: political party or another way I see it. An independent
38:20
Speaker 7: is an independent for a reason. Okay, they don't feel
38:23
Speaker 7: a strong affiliation to one party or the other, but
38:25
Speaker 7: if they want to run for office genuinely, they're going
38:28
Speaker 7: to pick And there are several Republicans right now in
38:31
Speaker 7: the legislature who were independents right before they filed to run,
38:34
Speaker 7: several of them here in Kannak County, Okay.
38:37
Speaker 2: But what's wrong with that?
38:38
Speaker 5: Right?
38:39
Speaker 7: We want to encourage people to run for office, and
38:41
Speaker 7: if somebody is, they're not affiliate, they're not superpartisan. That
38:44
Speaker 7: might be better for government to have more people like that,
38:47
Speaker 7: and they should be able to choose which party they
38:49
Speaker 7: want to run and then do that. I don't understand
38:51
Speaker 7: what the problem is that they're trying to address. But
38:53
Speaker 7: of course, yeah, Delegate Holstein in the Republican super majority
38:57
Speaker 7: is hell bent on making it harder for people to
39:00
Speaker 7: who filed or run for office.
39:01
Speaker 2: Gee, I wonder why let's talk about the independents.
39:06
Speaker 7: You know, they're republic They're going to shut them out
39:08
Speaker 7: of their primary, and now they want to shut them
39:10
Speaker 7: out of running for office too. It seems like just
39:13
Speaker 7: like the Republican Party and here in West Virginia is
39:15
Speaker 7: waging war on independent unaffiliated. But I mean the Republican
39:18
Speaker 7: Party welcome. We want them to run for office, we
39:20
Speaker 7: want them to vote in our primary. The Republican Party
39:23
Speaker 7: base and it's like it's their it's their party. They
39:25
Speaker 7: can every time I say that, I think I should
39:27
Speaker 7: channel Leslie Gore and say it's their party and they
39:29
Speaker 7: can cry if they want to.
39:30
Speaker 2: But I don't mean they're crying. But uh, but it's
39:32
Speaker 2: their party. They want, they could do what they want
39:35
Speaker 2: with their party, and they they chose again, which is
39:39
Speaker 2: a decision they made before to upheld to uphold their
39:43
Speaker 2: ruling that that independence aren't welcome. So if you're a
39:45
Speaker 2: registered independent when you go to the primary in the past,
39:49
Speaker 2: you've been able to go in and say I'm Dave,
39:51
Speaker 2: I'm a registered independent, but I want a Republican ballot.
39:54
Speaker 1: You will not.
39:55
Speaker 2: You will no longer do that. You can still get
39:57
Speaker 2: a Democrat ballot. Okay, you can still get a Democrat ballot,
40:00
Speaker 2: or you're going to be looking at all nonpartisan races
40:03
Speaker 2: and that's all that you are going to get. I
40:04
Speaker 2: have said to my friends on the Republican Party, you
40:08
Speaker 2: really need to do a good job of getting the
40:10
Speaker 2: word out on this because I think what's going to
40:12
Speaker 2: happen is is come primary election day, Mike, I think
40:14
Speaker 2: a lot of independents are going to show up at
40:16
Speaker 2: the polls and you know, maybe shame on them for
40:19
Speaker 2: not knowing the rules, but they're going to show up
40:20
Speaker 2: and they're going to take it out on some eighty
40:22
Speaker 2: year old poll worker when they're only allowed to vote
40:24
Speaker 2: for board.
40:25
Speaker 7: Of education or something that a lot of them do
40:27
Speaker 7: know the rules and don't like being told what to do,
40:30
Speaker 7: and they're not going to go switch their independence for
40:32
Speaker 7: a reason, okay, And they're not going to go switch
40:36
Speaker 7: because of this ridiculous move from the Republican Party to
40:39
Speaker 7: shut them out. The good news is when they ask
40:41
Speaker 7: for that Democratic ballot, They're going to have real choices.
40:45
Speaker 7: We're going to have a competitive primary at the top
40:47
Speaker 7: of the ticket all the way down in many cases
40:49
Speaker 7: where you have primaries and our legislative races. In many
40:52
Speaker 7: cases across the state. In Logan County, we have primaries
40:56
Speaker 7: for House of Delegates in both of the House districts
40:58
Speaker 7: in Logan County right now. On the Democratic side, we
41:01
Speaker 7: have primaries people want to run.
41:03
Speaker 2: Which is not I can tell you being from there,
41:05
Speaker 2: it is.
41:06
Speaker 7: We haven't had that.
41:07
Speaker 2: Thirty years ago there were no Republicans I mean zero,
41:10
Speaker 2: I mean zero Republicans.
41:12
Speaker 14: Well, we're giving and now it's all we're giving voters
41:15
Speaker 14: choices this time, and we're going to have a lot
41:17
Speaker 14: more voters in our primary because of this boneheaded move
41:20
Speaker 14: from the Republicans to kick the independence and unaffiliated voters out.
41:24
Speaker 7: And when they get that democratic ballot, there will be
41:27
Speaker 7: choices now. Like I said, this part that's very concerning
41:29
Speaker 7: to me now is this effort where they don't want
41:31
Speaker 7: independence running for office and winning. That to me is
41:36
Speaker 7: undemocratic and there's absolutely no.
41:37
Speaker 5: Need for it.
41:38
Speaker 7: The current law, existing law has not been a problem.
41:41
Speaker 7: I mean Apparently the problem that they're trying to dress
41:44
Speaker 7: is the Republicans feel too many people are running for office.
41:47
Speaker 7: I call that democracy. That's a beautiful thing about this country.
41:50
Speaker 7: We want people to run for office. We want more
41:52
Speaker 7: people to run for office, not less.
41:55
Speaker 2: Texas can't wait for the purity test, stubbornness and pettiness
41:58
Speaker 2: to fragment the Republican Party.
42:00
Speaker 7: That's it's already going on. Well, then they spent more
42:02
Speaker 7: time recruiting against themselves and they did recruiting against us.
42:06
Speaker 7: Uh there's only I mean, out of nine nine Democratic seats,
42:10
Speaker 7: they only recruited Republicans in three of them, three of them,
42:15
Speaker 7: three out of nine. That's not very good.
42:17
Speaker 2: It's not very good. Uh recruitment, Say math Texas, thank
42:24
Speaker 2: you for the weekly segment fear MONGERINGE with Mike Pushkin.
42:26
Speaker 7: Oh that's not We're spreading hope and love.
42:29
Speaker 2: But you're not on weekly Texas. Uh used to be
42:33
Speaker 2: Uh being Friday morning. I have a non political question.
42:35
Speaker 2: Ask Mike when six hundred Pounds of Sin is getting
42:38
Speaker 2: back together for a reunion show and tour.
42:40
Speaker 7: Well, I think you would have to ask our former
42:42
Speaker 7: lead singer about that. And she's doing quite well without us.
42:45
Speaker 2: Okay.
42:46
Speaker 7: In fact, she's starting her tour I believe in late
42:49
Speaker 7: May in Portland, Oregon. She's going to Europe, and then
42:52
Speaker 7: she's going to be playing in Columbus in June. And
42:55
Speaker 7: then it was just announced that I'm talking about Sierra
42:57
Speaker 7: used to be was a singer mar when she there
43:00

43:02

43:07
Speaker 7: you get a chance to see her around here at

43:10
Speaker 2: Mike Pushkin's like a talking robot, always putting down the

43:16
Speaker 7: Let's name them. Okay, hey, let's wait. I'm gonna name
43:20

46:30
Speaker 2: Getting married isn't a big deal. My wife showed a
46:32
Speaker 2: birth certificate and a marriage licens and certificate to get
46:34
Speaker 2: her federal ID. She wasn't disenfranchised. As a text or
46:38
Speaker 2: text says Cier Farrell needs to take Mike on tour.
46:45
Speaker 7: I hope she's listening right now. I think she's on
46:47
Speaker 7: the West coast. Would be very early for her to
46:49
Speaker 7: be listening currently, but no, that that'd be great. I
46:52
Speaker 7: do get to go see her. I mean, she's my
46:55
Speaker 7: favorite singer in the whole world, so occasionally I go
46:58
Speaker 7: to her shows and hang out and get here.
47:00
Speaker 2: She's been on this show years ago. You've been on here, Texas.
47:04
Speaker 2: If you have to be a Republican to vote in
47:05
Speaker 2: the Republican primary, what's required of you to join the
47:08
Speaker 2: Republican Party? Money bitcoin firstborn, swearing the blood oath to
47:12
Speaker 2: the deer Leader, membership in the Patriot Front or tp USA,
47:17
Speaker 2: that's the textbook.
47:18
Speaker 7: Again. We welcome you in the Democratic Party, whoever you may.
47:22
Speaker 2: Be, Texas, Texas. We strongly support Holstein's bill. It keeps
47:26
Speaker 2: people from party flipping for nefarious reasons, for like running
47:30
Speaker 2: for office.
47:31
Speaker 7: I mean, it's your right to run in whichever party
47:35
Speaker 7: you want to run in. And you know what, if
47:36
Speaker 7: they want a purity test, let the primary voters decide that.
47:40
Speaker 7: Let the voters decide, not these party bosses who just
47:44
Speaker 7: happen to, you know, currently be in the legislature and
47:46
Speaker 7: have the votes to keep moving the goalposts. You know what,
47:50
Speaker 7: As the minority party, we have to learn the rules, okay,
47:53
Speaker 7: and we play by the rules. And they change the
47:54
Speaker 7: rules on us for candidate recruitment last time, and we
47:58
Speaker 7: learned the rules. We played by the rules, and we
48:00
Speaker 7: recruited more candidates really per seat than they did, and
48:05
Speaker 7: now they didn't like the results of that, so they're
48:07
Speaker 7: going to move the goalposts yet again. Well, we'll continue
48:10
Speaker 7: to play by the rules and they can keep changing
48:12
Speaker 7: the rules.
48:12
Speaker 2: Texas, Westervirginia. GOP is stupid to close the primary. Some
48:16
Speaker 2: of us tried hard to reverse course, but we couldn't
48:18
Speaker 2: overcome efforts by Governor Morrissey or Jim Butler to keep
48:21
Speaker 2: it closed.
48:22
Speaker 7: Yeah, and you have a mismanaged Executive Committee meeting too.
48:25
Speaker 2: Tex says Dave. Asked, Mike, with all the obvious great
48:29
Speaker 2: things President Trump has done to strengthen this country in
48:31
Speaker 2: our state, surely yes to have something good to say
48:33
Speaker 2: about these accomplishments. It's common sense, Mike.
48:36
Speaker 7: Well, I mean, if you only think of good things,
48:38
Speaker 7: I mean they send a letter to the FDA to
48:40
Speaker 7: reschedule cannabis. Let's see.
48:42
Speaker 2: I agree with that.
48:45
Speaker 7: During the first term, there was some criminal justice reform
48:49
Speaker 7: that I agree with. But other than that, I mean,
48:51
Speaker 7: his poll numbers are dropping for a reason. I think
48:54
Speaker 7: it's because of the chaos that people are seeing every night,
48:58
Speaker 7: and instead of bringing the country together at a time
49:00
Speaker 7: where it really needs a leader. Instead of being a unifier,
49:03
Speaker 7: he continues to pour gasoline on the fire and people
49:06
Speaker 7: don't like that.
49:08
Speaker 2: Texas Pushkin. Have you heard of the custodian cuts in
49:11
Speaker 2: Kanaha County? Is anything happening in the legislature to help
49:14
Speaker 2: with that so children don't have to clean classrooms? May
49:17
Speaker 2: just be me, but children cleaning classrooms isn't going to
49:19
Speaker 2: draw parents to the school system.
49:22
Speaker 7: I'm looking more into I heard about that last night actually,
49:25
Speaker 7: and it's something that I'm going to make some phone
49:27
Speaker 7: calls about. I will say this, though, we've continually had
49:31
Speaker 7: this Republican legislature make cuts to public education and pull
49:35
Speaker 7: money out of public education to fund this completely unregulated
49:39
Speaker 7: Hope Scholarship. I saw these posts last night on a
49:42
Speaker 7: group it was a Hope Scholarship Facebook page, where they
49:46
Speaker 7: were telling people how you could spend the money on
49:49
Speaker 7: extracurricular stuff like horseback riding lessons or travel soccer teams,
49:53
Speaker 7: like that's what our state dollars are being used for.
49:55
Speaker 7: And it's pulling money out of public schools, and then
49:57
Speaker 7: these county school systems are having to make these these uh,
50:00
Speaker 7: these tough decisions like cutting back on essential staff like that.
50:04
Speaker 7: So look before the legend, before the session started, the
50:07
Speaker 7: legislature paid for this this study from the Rand Corporation.
50:10
Speaker 7: It said we need to put more money into public schools.
50:13
Speaker 7: It also said we needed to rein in the Hope scholarship.
50:17
Speaker 7: It needs to be based on means testing. If if
50:20
Speaker 7: these vouchers are going to the families that really need it,
50:23
Speaker 7: that's understandable. But instead it's it's subsidizing folks that could
50:28
Speaker 7: already afford private school and are in some cases they're
50:32
Speaker 7: using this money for extracurricurricular activities or sending the money
50:35
Speaker 7: out of state.
50:37
Speaker 2: Tex says Dave Trump needs to resign like others that's
50:39
Speaker 2: had their names in the Epstein files.
50:41
Speaker 7: Man up, Yeah, if you look at countries in Europe,
50:44
Speaker 7: like when they're when these whether it's you know, the
50:47
Speaker 7: you know, royal family in Great Britain or in other
50:50
Speaker 7: countries in Europe that they've there's been real consequences.
50:54
Speaker 10: Uh.
50:54
Speaker 7: Yet, what we have a Treasury Secretary Lutnik right treasures,
50:59
Speaker 7: who's all over the teen files, and nothing's happening. Trump's
51:02
Speaker 7: mentioned I believe they think about forty thousand times in
51:05
Speaker 7: the epistoce. Just because you're mentioning it doesn't mean you
51:07
Speaker 7: did anything wrong. I mean, forty thousand times. I'm just
51:10
Speaker 7: saying I'm not a Trump fan either. I'm just saying,
51:13
Speaker 7: just because you're mentioned, let's find out. Let's open it
51:15
Speaker 7: up and find out exactly how he's mentioned in there. Okay,
51:19
Speaker 7: go ahead, Texas kids in Japan cleaned their classrooms. Let's
51:22
Speaker 7: compare test scores, says the text. Text says Pushkin.
51:29
Speaker 2: Just not true. There are more Dims than Republicans. So's
51:31
Speaker 2: the texture. I think you said there were more Democrats
51:33
Speaker 2: than Republicans. If you said that, I didn't catch it.
51:36
Speaker 2: I didn't say there were more Democrats, Okay, I didn't.
51:40
Speaker 2: I said per seat.
51:41
Speaker 7: We've had a better recruiting effort. If you look at
51:44
Speaker 7: the fact that the Republicans failed to recruit Republicans in
51:47
Speaker 7: two thirds of the House seats, that they needed to
51:50
Speaker 7: recruit Republican because they were too busy recruiting against each other,
51:54
Speaker 7: and Patrick morrisy led an effort to recruit against Republican incumbents.
51:59
Speaker 7: That's the truth.
52:00
Speaker 2: Take Democratic Party chair and Dell to get Mike Pushkin,
52:02
Speaker 2: get on down to the idea factory.
52:05
Speaker 7: Yeah, I just had idea. I didn't say good or bad.
52:07
Speaker 7: Most of them have been bad. We've had a couple
52:09
Speaker 7: of good ideas lately, but unfortunately mostly bad. But I'm
52:12
Speaker 7: on all the way there now.
52:13
Speaker 2: Well, good luck put a helmet up, all right? So
52:16
Speaker 2: coming up on the Monday Show, Naomi and Sam are
52:19
Speaker 2: good friends from the West Side Neighborhood Association WI stop
