- 0:21Speaker 1: Excited to have our buddy chris long on with us
- 0:23Speaker 1: check out his podcast green light wherever you get your
- 0:26Speaker 1: podcast he was bragging this morning he got to sleep
- 0:29Speaker 1: in he slept until 9 30 he had a good
- 0:31Speaker 1: night last night buffalo one what is going on with
- 0:34Speaker 1: you chris long.
- 0:35Speaker 2: It's just a Stu, it's a beautiful Tuesday, man. It's
- 0:38Speaker 2: 80 degrees outside. Fall colors starting to show up. The
- 0:42Speaker 2: Bills won last night.
- 0:43Speaker 3: Yeah. You know, people had a.
- 0:46Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure a bunch of people had tweets in
- 0:48Speaker 2: their drafts that they had to discard about Josh Allen.
- 0:53Speaker 2: We won basically all the props. And what I was
- 0:57Speaker 2: telling you offline is I had a really good night
- 0:59Speaker 2: last night. You know, when you sleep until 9.30, sometimes
- 1:03Speaker 2: your wife's not real happy about it.
- 1:04Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:05Speaker 2: But what I did... cause I always write down all
- 1:07Speaker 2: the props and the bets. I'm a pen and paper guy.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:11Speaker 2: And I made sure to circle the amounts and put
- 1:14Speaker 2: the total. We won last night at the bottom. And
- 1:18Speaker 2: instead of taking the trash.
- 1:19Speaker 3: Out, the trash is full.
- 1:21Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:22Speaker 3: I put the sheet at the top of the trash. Right.
- 1:25Speaker 2: So when she opens the trash in the morning, she
- 1:28Speaker 2: sees that we had a good night as a family.
- 1:29Speaker 3: And, uh, And it worked. She was like, I saw
- 1:33Speaker 3: you had a good night last night.
- 1:34Speaker 4: Right. Yeah. So she let the man sleep. Yeah.
- 1:38Speaker 2: That's a vet move. You never, you never write down
- 1:41Speaker 2: your losses and leave that paper out.
- 1:43Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:43Speaker 3: Yeah. Only talk about your winnings. Yes.
- 1:45Speaker 1: So is that the reason she, uh, she decided not
- 1:47Speaker 1: to wake you up because you had a good night?
- 1:50Speaker 2: She never really wakes me up. Honestly, Stu, I got
- 1:52Speaker 2: a pretty amazing wife. We got three kids in the
- 1:55Speaker 2: off season, you know, like I'm, you know, the, the,
- 1:59Speaker 2: the differences in the off season, I really take my
- 2:01Speaker 2: off season, you know, like how some people are like
- 2:03Speaker 2: potting nonstop or whatever, like, you know, studying the draft.
- 2:08Speaker 3: I don't study the draft. I don't do any of
- 2:09Speaker 3: that shit.
- 2:10Speaker 2: So, um, I take a long period of time off
- 2:13Speaker 2: and like, I'm just a dad in the off season.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Like I'm coaching the league baseball and I'm doing everything. And, uh,
- 2:18Speaker 2: and then in season, she kind of understands, like, I
- 2:21Speaker 2: got nighttime with the kids. Like we stayed up and
- 2:23Speaker 2: watched Monday night football until At the half, my kids
- 2:25Speaker 2: had the right. They have a right to pick one
- 2:27Speaker 2: game a week to stay up until the end.
- 2:29Speaker 4: They chose wisely.
- 2:30Speaker 2: They chose wisely, but at the half, my 10-year-old turns
- 2:36Speaker 2: to my 7-year-old and goes, let's go.
- 2:37Speaker 3: This game sucks.
- 2:41Speaker 2: They went to bed and missed the greatest half of
- 2:47Speaker 2: football they'll see the entire season. Yeah.
- 2:54Speaker 3: It was incredible, Stu. Yes.
- 2:57Speaker 4: Did you try and stop him?
- 2:58Speaker 1: I mean, did you tell him, hey, it's going to get.
- 3:00Speaker 2: No, because, you know, it just makes it a little
- 3:02Speaker 2: easier for me to be in... You know, I really
- 3:04Speaker 2: look forward to... I love watching football with my kids,
- 3:06Speaker 2: but they also need some sleep. They had some friends
- 3:08Speaker 2: in this weekend, and you can really see the sleep deprivation.
- 3:12Speaker 3: They start acting out of character. We can't have that.
- 3:14Speaker 4: Right.
- 3:15Speaker 6: Chris, did the Bills win this game, or did the
- 3:17Speaker 6: Rams lose it?
- 3:18Speaker 3: Great question.
- 3:20Speaker 2: I think both teams found ways to put themselves in
- 3:22Speaker 2: position to lose it. I mean, you know, the James
- 3:24Speaker 2: Cook fumbles are, are hard to figure, especially when you
- 3:27Speaker 2: have the reputation and you know, you, you get the
- 3:30Speaker 2: ball in overtime. I, my thought was for, for Buffalo,
- 3:36Speaker 2: you get the ball in overtime, you better take eight,
- 3:38Speaker 2: 10 minutes because Stafford, they're going to score quick. And honestly,
- 3:43Speaker 2: I think the, you know, you can't do anything about
- 3:46Speaker 2: a fumble. You can't do anything if you're, the bills
- 3:50Speaker 2: offense about the bills defense, losing Christian Benford and them
- 3:53Speaker 2: going right down the field with like a minute and
- 3:54Speaker 2: a half to go.
- 3:55Speaker 3: It was like too easy. Right.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Uh, but I think McVay, you know, the one thing
- 4:02Speaker 2: for me is why is the kicker on the roster?
- 4:03Speaker 2: And I guess today he got cut, but like, you know,
- 4:05Speaker 2: it's a, it's a, it's a well beaten path. This
- 4:08Speaker 2: special teams unit is terrible and it has been, and,
- 4:12Speaker 2: and it's stretched.
- 4:13Speaker 3: Beyond this year.
- 4:15Speaker 2: It's gone backwards a year and, if, you know, Rams fans,
- 4:18Speaker 2: they'll tell you, I mean, they've lost games this year
- 4:20Speaker 2: because of it.
- 4:21Speaker 3: And you can, you can add.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Another one to the, to the docket there with, with
- 4:25Speaker 2: what they did last night. And it wasn't just, you know,
- 4:27Speaker 2: like there's a lot of little things in a game
- 4:29Speaker 2: that add up on special teams. So I think that
- 4:31Speaker 2: I thought the one mistake McVay made, and he made
- 4:33Speaker 2: a couple, but like, you know, I understand the sentiment
- 4:36Speaker 2: of go for two and just get the win in regulation.
- 4:39Speaker 2: I thought Joe Brady was stupid to let the clock
- 4:41Speaker 2: run down that, that low to, you know, I thought
- 4:43Speaker 2: Joe Brady had some bad moments last night, but, I'm
- 4:46Speaker 2: not going to fault McVay for not going for two because,
- 4:49Speaker 2: you know, once Benford was down, it should have been
- 4:51Speaker 2: like taking candy from a baby. You should know, like,
- 4:53Speaker 2: nobody's going to stop you in overtime. The only person
- 4:57Speaker 2: that stopped McVay in the offense was McVay being too conservative.
- 5:00Speaker 2: I thought they should have came out. Like, when Stafford
- 5:03Speaker 2: was targeting Puka Nakua.
- 5:04Speaker 3: They got whatever they wanted.
- 5:06Speaker 2: And, you know, I think you can certainly– there's been
- 5:11Speaker 2: so many bad coaching decisions, like, throughout this young season.
- 5:16Speaker 2: It kind of feels like you and me should coach
- 5:18Speaker 2: a team, Stu.
- 5:19Speaker 3: Yes, yes.
- 5:20Speaker 2: We're not making the mistakes that Nick Sirianni made the
- 5:23Speaker 2: other day. We're not making the mistakes that Shadi made
- 5:25Speaker 2: in Rio. We're not making the clock, the freaking Dan Quinn.
- 5:30Speaker 2: I've never seen a game end like that. So I
- 5:32Speaker 2: just thought McVay would be immune to that type of thing,
- 5:35Speaker 2: and there wasn't one big bad decision. It was just
- 5:38Speaker 2: I thought they came in and said both teams were
- 5:41Speaker 2: content in playing this game, low possession. slow pace, and
- 5:47Speaker 2: I thought the Rams should have been trying to push it,
- 5:49Speaker 2: especially considering Josh had nobody outside and would have had
- 5:56Speaker 2: trouble playing catch-up. So I thought strategically the Rams were
- 5:59Speaker 2: a little bit negligent in the way they played this
- 6:02Speaker 2: thing out. I don't think the Rams– listen, people miss kicks.
- 6:06Speaker 2: You trot the kicker out. Everybody knows he's a problem.
- 6:09Speaker 2: Greg Grusso is 6'9. Special teams is a burning building.
- 6:13Speaker 2: But you've got to trust your kicker to make a kick.
- 6:15Speaker 2: I would have been a little bit more aggressive to
- 6:17Speaker 2: get it closer, but yeah.
- 6:19Speaker 4: How do you feel about a frumpy kicker?
- 6:23Speaker 3: I love a frumpy kicker. I just want to make
- 6:25Speaker 3: the kicks, man.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Because if I'm playing for the Rams, I have zero
- 6:30Speaker 1: confidence every time that guy walks.
- 6:31Speaker 3: Out of the field. I don't either.
- 6:36Speaker 4: I guess he'll no longer be doing it, I guess.
- 6:39Speaker 4: But anyway.
- 6:40Speaker 3: No, he won't.
- 6:41Speaker 2: I mean, when he walked out, I knew he was
- 6:44Speaker 2: cooked when he walked out during the timeout, and I
- 6:47Speaker 2: know Rams fans had a jump scare because at that
- 6:49Speaker 2: point it's like a 55-yard field goal. They call a timeout,
- 6:52Speaker 2: and they're all on the sideline, and Mivas walks out,
- 6:54Speaker 2: and he's starting to do his little routine, and he's
- 6:58Speaker 2: lining up the hypothetical kick, and I was like, man,
- 7:03Speaker 2: you don't see kickers do that often.
- 7:04Speaker 3: Right.
- 7:05Speaker 2: So obviously he's in his own head. I'm just shocked.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Joe Brady damn near tricked it off. To me, I
- 7:11Speaker 2: know he liked where the ball was on the hash.
- 7:14Speaker 2: But you miss that kick, the Rams are going to
- 7:16Speaker 2: win that game.
- 7:17Speaker 3: Right.
- 7:18Speaker 2: You know, and to me, you run that thing down
- 7:21Speaker 2: and you trust your kicker to make a kick.
- 7:24Speaker 7: We all know how great Josh Allen is, especially with
- 7:27Speaker 7: his legs. But how much of that was Josh Allen
- 7:30Speaker 7: just being amazing and the Rams seeming like they forgot
- 7:33Speaker 7: he could run the ball?
- 7:34Speaker 2: Well, no, I mean, like coming into the game, you
- 7:37Speaker 2: had to know, and this isn't to make excuses for
- 7:39Speaker 2: Josh because like, and you know, we all on this
- 7:42Speaker 2: show know he's great, but there's a lot of people
- 7:44Speaker 2: that really don't like Josh. And, you know, I, and
- 7:46Speaker 2: I think some of it is because of the, you know, Hey,
- 7:48Speaker 2: it's first overtime when, um, they can get a little
- 7:51Speaker 2: bit reductive with the, the playoff losses, although they don't
- 7:55Speaker 2: hold certain other quarterbacks that standard that they, they hold
- 7:57Speaker 2: in higher regard. But I think when it comes to
- 8:00Speaker 2: Josh last night, if he finishes the game after the
- 8:02Speaker 2: first half, I'm going.
- 8:03Speaker 3: To kill him over it.
- 8:04Speaker 2: You know, like you got to find a way to
- 8:06Speaker 2: win in that situation. I don't care who's outside and,
- 8:10Speaker 2: You know, Shakir's out there. You got Kincaid. You got Knox.
- 8:14Speaker 2: You missed the throw in the end zone. You know,
- 8:16Speaker 2: I do think it was an armed punt effectively before
- 8:18Speaker 2: the half, but at the same time, the smart play
- 8:21Speaker 2: would have been to tuck it and get down, force
- 8:24Speaker 2: LA to take a timeout. I thought the corner burnt
- 8:27Speaker 2: way too much clock off running around like he was
- 8:29Speaker 2: returning a punt. So Josh didn't get killed for his
- 8:32Speaker 2: mistakes in the first half. The defense stood up. But
- 8:35Speaker 2: in the second half, that's the excellence. You want to
- 8:37Speaker 2: know what it looks like when one of those guys
- 8:42Speaker 2: has to take over a game, it's not always with
- 8:44Speaker 2: his arm.
- 8:45Speaker 3: That's a good cover group back there.
- 8:48Speaker 2: And he made the throws when he had to, but
- 8:50Speaker 2: the legs, I think Shula, honestly, as much as anybody,
- 8:54Speaker 2: if the game had ended on a Landman punch out,
- 8:58Speaker 2: I mean, Shula should have been should have given him
- 9:00Speaker 2: a raise or something or, you know, like, or given
- 9:02Speaker 2: him his parking spot because there were situations late in
- 9:06Speaker 2: that game where they don't even have a spy for
- 9:08Speaker 2: Josh Allen. You saw them getting empty and Josh checks them.
- 9:12Speaker 2: And Josh is thinking the whole time, I'm going to
- 9:15Speaker 2: take off. I'm going to hit the top of my drop,
- 9:17Speaker 2: find the seam, and I'm taking off. And that's, listen, like,
- 9:21Speaker 2: you can say what you want about Josh Allen, but
- 9:23Speaker 2: he's a tough SOB.
- 9:24Speaker 3: And he runs hard.
- 9:25Speaker 2: And he said it after the game, I got to
- 9:28Speaker 2: throw the ball better.
- 9:28Speaker 6: Right.
- 9:29Speaker 2: This wasn't his best game throwing the ball by any
- 9:31Speaker 2: stretch of imagination. It was pretty pedestrian, but he did
- 9:33Speaker 2: the things he had to. He's a leading rusher on
- 9:35Speaker 2: the football team.
- 9:36Speaker 3: It's crazy.
- 9:37Speaker 6: Chris, it feels like people are still really dismissive of
- 9:40Speaker 6: the Vikings despite their 5-0 start. If the Vikings get
- 9:43Speaker 6: the version of Kyler Murray we saw on Sunday against
- 9:46Speaker 6: the Saints, how high do you think their ceiling is?
- 9:49Speaker 2: I think it's high. I mean, I still want to
- 9:52Speaker 2: see more. Like the version we saw Sunday, listen, he
- 9:55Speaker 2: threw the ball into a team meeting room in the
- 9:58Speaker 2: corner of the end zone and Jefferson County. up with,
- 10:00Speaker 2: it's a great throw, but it's a thin line between
- 10:02Speaker 2: being a, just a, a terrible decision. Uh, and, and that,
- 10:07Speaker 2: that too is like, Hey, that's part of having Justin
- 10:09Speaker 2: Jefferson outside. You just need to give him a chance.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Like the laser he threw on the right sideline before
- 10:13Speaker 2: the half. Like I think with Minnesota, the magic number
- 10:17Speaker 2: is going to be 23 all year. Um, and I
- 10:20Speaker 2: think there'll be playoff games like that. The things that
- 10:24Speaker 2: they do defensively to make people play three plays at
- 10:28Speaker 2: a time while being maximally aggressive.
- 10:31Speaker 3: It's just, it's, it's kind of, um, it's, it's kind
- 10:35Speaker 3: of counterintuitive.
- 10:36Speaker 2: You would think a guy that, that brings the blitz 70%
- 10:39Speaker 2: of the time, you're going to be able to beat
- 10:41Speaker 2: them over the top with regularity. That hasn't been what's
- 10:44Speaker 2: happened so far this year. Now they haven't played a
- 10:46Speaker 2: bunch of great offenses. Um, But they made Chuck drive
- 10:50Speaker 2: the ball three plays at a time. And eventually you
- 10:52Speaker 2: make mistakes when you're an offense and you're like running
- 10:54Speaker 2: on adrenaline the whole game. You're puckered. You're setting protections.
- 10:58Speaker 2: You're having to check out of things. Guess where the,
- 11:01Speaker 2: you know, it's one thing pre-snap to look and say, okay,
- 11:04Speaker 2: they're single high. It's going to be middle of field closed. Or,
- 11:07Speaker 2: you know, I'm reading maybe cover six here. But, like,
- 11:11Speaker 2: you're never going to get a pre-snap read against Brian Flores.
- 11:13Speaker 2: It's spin the wheel with the coverage he plays behind
- 11:16Speaker 2: these pressures.
- 11:18Speaker 4: Chris, if you want to coach, I'm in, man. I'll
- 11:20Speaker 4: be on your staff. I'm the get-back coach. What do
- 11:22Speaker 4: you have me doing as one.
- 11:23Speaker 3: Of your assistant coaches?
- 11:26Speaker 2: You're probably my clock management guy, and you can score
- 11:30Speaker 2: me butt on the road.
- 11:32Speaker 4: That's what I was looking for.
- 11:36Speaker 3: But honestly, I wouldn't be a coordinator.
- 11:38Speaker 2: I'd be a walk-around coach, so I'd need a really
- 11:41Speaker 2: good staff. And so if there's anybody else you want
- 11:44Speaker 2: to add to the staff, we can, yeah.
- 11:46Speaker 4: All right, we'll build out a staff. I'm great at
- 11:48Speaker 4: walking around. I am. That's all I do. I just
- 11:49Speaker 4: walk around.
- 11:50Speaker 3: That's good. I'm a big walker, too. I usually get
- 11:52Speaker 3: my stuff done.
- 12:05Speaker 4: What do you say to people who think.
- 12:06Speaker 1: I know you criticized them earlier.
- 12:08Speaker 4: It was a boneheaded mistake.
- 12:10Speaker 1: But what do you say to Eagles fans who want
- 12:11Speaker 1: Nick Sirianni fired?
- 12:15Speaker 3: Well....
- 12:17Speaker 2: I think how Jeffrey Lurie, if I'm not mistaken, has
- 12:20Speaker 2: a history of letting coaches finish the season.
- 12:23Speaker 3: Right.
- 12:24Speaker 2: So it might be a moot point. And, you know,
- 12:28Speaker 2: with Jalen, you know, a lot of it is, hey,
- 12:32Speaker 2: and we want to see Jalen play better.
- 12:34Speaker 3: That's it.
- 12:34Speaker 2: Like since 25, I haven't seen the same player. The
- 12:37Speaker 2: offense hasn't been the same. A lot of people speculate
- 12:40Speaker 2: it's Nick Sirianni. I have a hard time believing that
- 12:42Speaker 2: Jeffrey Lurie would now, you know, run it back the
- 12:46Speaker 2: same way he did last year. We'd hire a new
- 12:48Speaker 2: guy and let Sirianni control the whole situation. I'm just
- 12:53Speaker 2: skeptical of that. As for the decisions he's made, when
- 12:56Speaker 2: you're a walk-around guy, situational football, you got to be
- 13:01Speaker 2: held to a high standard. And that was a big failure.
- 13:05Speaker 2: And it cost him the game. And it wasn't the kick.
- 13:07Speaker 2: I mean, the kick, we can go back and forth
- 13:09Speaker 2: on what It's the possession before the kick where you
- 13:13Speaker 2: set up the field goal and Lemming goes out of
- 13:15Speaker 2: bounds and you throw it out of bounds and you
- 13:17Speaker 2: don't make them take all their timeouts.
- 13:19Speaker 3: To me, that's really bad. And his seat should be hot.
- 13:22Speaker 3: I mean, it is what it is.
- 13:24Speaker 2: But at the same time, you know, the logic we're extending,
- 13:28Speaker 2: the grace we're giving, you know, Jalen and, you know, hey,
- 13:32Speaker 2: the guys won a Super Bowl. What does he have
- 13:35Speaker 2: to prove right now? I kind of wonder if we
- 13:38Speaker 2: should give the coach the same grace. Now, having said that,
- 13:42Speaker 2: I think that's more of a thought exercise. I think
- 13:46Speaker 2: we all know how this thing goes. If this continues,
- 13:49Speaker 2: it's going to be coach first, and then quarterback is
- 13:52Speaker 2: next if he doesn't play better. I mean, they're supposed
- 13:55Speaker 2: to extend him at some point. That hasn't happened yet.
- 13:58Speaker 2: I don't know what's going to happen with that. So
- 14:01Speaker 2: it's a loaded question. Eagles fans are not wrong to
- 14:04Speaker 2: be pissed at the coach and if this stuff continues
- 14:09Speaker 2: then you do have to ask the question like and
- 14:10Speaker 2: i asked this question after the playoff game i said
- 14:12Speaker 2: what is it you do here nick you know um
- 14:16Speaker 2: and and i'm kind of asking the same question after
- 14:18Speaker 2: a game like sunday so long story i think lori
- 14:21Speaker 2: is going to give him the year i would be
- 14:23Speaker 2: surprised if they ask him in the next couple weeks
- 14:26Speaker 2: or something like that if they lose another one two
- 14:28Speaker 2: games uh in the next few weeks but uh Eagles
- 14:31Speaker 2: fans are right to be pissed at Nick Sirianni. It
- 14:34Speaker 2: takes no talent. It takes, you know, like players on
- 14:37Speaker 2: the field, it's hard making plays.
- 14:40Speaker 3: Right.
- 14:41Speaker 2: You know, but something like knowing the situation at the
- 14:44Speaker 2: end of the game takes no talent. And there's a
- 14:47Speaker 2: million people at home who have the same inclination screaming
- 14:51Speaker 2: at the TV, and there's 14 fucking people with a
- 14:55Speaker 2: headset on the sideline.
- 14:58Speaker 3: How do you not figure this stuff out?
- 14:59Speaker 4: Yes.
- 15:00Speaker 6: Chris, how much confidence do you have in the Texans
- 15:03Speaker 6: turning their season around, given how well C.J. Stroud is playing?
- 15:08Speaker 2: I have confidence. I mean, like, listen, they are a
- 15:11Speaker 2: rule breaker. They've done this before at the start of seasons.
- 15:14Speaker 2: I think the rumors of the defense's demise have been
- 15:18Speaker 2: a little bit exaggerated. They've had two linebackers down for
- 15:21Speaker 2: most of the season. The middle of their defense is
- 15:24Speaker 2: not a strong suit anyways relative to everywhere else. Reed
- 15:27Speaker 2: Blankenship having a hard time you know, making the adjustment
- 15:31Speaker 2: with the new scheme. And they took the play calling
- 15:35Speaker 2: duties away from the DC, which is, which means, you know,
- 15:39Speaker 2: D'Amico's feeling the heat, but you also don't make a
- 15:42Speaker 2: trade like the one for Marvin Harrison Jr. Unless you
- 15:45Speaker 2: believe that this team's still in it. And I think
- 15:47Speaker 2: they know damn well, this team can go to London
- 15:49Speaker 2: this week and beat the Jags, get to two and four.
- 15:53Speaker 2: And then it's a whole different conversation. I think CJ's
- 15:56Speaker 2: played A real litmus test for if anybody's really watching
- 15:59Speaker 2: football is ask them how C.J.
- 16:01Speaker 3: Stroud's playing.
- 16:03Speaker 2: You know, at one point they're 0-4 and everybody's dumping
- 16:06Speaker 2: on the QB. When I picked the Texans to make
- 16:08Speaker 2: a deep run this year, everybody told me, well, that's
- 16:09Speaker 2: not possible because of the quarterback. And it turns out
- 16:12Speaker 2: it's been everything but the quarterback so far. I mean,
- 16:15Speaker 2: I think he's looked a lot more like the guy
- 16:16Speaker 2: that we assumed we'd see. And I've been begging for
- 16:19Speaker 2: them to abandon this big personnel, three tight end, looked
- 16:25Speaker 2: that they wanted to debut, power football, spread people out,
- 16:29Speaker 2: and ride the hot hand. The hot hand is the
- 16:31Speaker 2: quarterback getting the football out of his hand, putting the
- 16:34Speaker 2: ball in the money. They just didn't have the guys
- 16:36Speaker 2: to catch the football for the better part of the
- 16:38Speaker 2: first month of the season with Nico Collins out. If
- 16:40Speaker 2: Nico Collins isn't out, I don't think they're in the
- 16:43Speaker 2: position they're in right now, and I think they know that.
- 16:45Speaker 1: We have a game for you. We'll get to it
- 16:47Speaker 1: in just a second. Patriots or Bills, who has the
- 16:49Speaker 1: better chance of winning the AFC East?
- 16:53Speaker 3: I still think the Bills do.
- 16:55Speaker 2: I mean, like, the Pats are a good football team,
- 16:59Speaker 2: but I think Josh played poorly in that matchup last week.
- 17:04Speaker 2: I know the Patriots will get A.J. Brown back. I
- 17:07Speaker 2: think the Pats should be lauded for their mental toughness,
- 17:11Speaker 2: and I think people that said Drake was just a
- 17:14Speaker 2: terrible player because of the way he's played over the
- 17:16Speaker 2: last combined six, seven games of his young career are
- 17:21Speaker 2: just kind of A little bit of a hot take
- 17:24Speaker 2: in it. I think he's a good quarterback. I do
- 17:27Speaker 2: think that that team has some deficiencies roster-wise. I think
- 17:31Speaker 2: the offensive line's okay. It's not great. I think the
- 17:34Speaker 2: linebacking core is a little bit suspect. But they found
- 17:38Speaker 2: a way to win that game last week with two
- 17:40Speaker 2: corners down. And I think Vegas was a little bit hungover.
- 17:45Speaker 2: And I think the Pats are better than people think.
- 17:48Speaker 2: It could certainly come down to a couple games. but
- 17:51Speaker 2: I just think the bills are so good offensively with
- 17:54Speaker 2: Josh as their quarterback. And I do think their defense
- 17:57Speaker 2: and I, if I'm Brandon bean, I'm making moves at
- 18:00Speaker 2: the deadline to try to input, whether it's a safety
- 18:04Speaker 2: or a linebacker, there are a couple players away from
- 18:07Speaker 2: being a pretty decent, decent defense. And honestly, they played
- 18:11Speaker 2: pretty well last night considering, uh, until Benford went down.
- 18:15Speaker 2: So I think the bills can win the East. Um,
- 18:18Speaker 2: When it comes to the playoffs, Josh has got to deliver.
- 18:22Speaker 2: And I do expect the Pats to be in the
- 18:25Speaker 2: wild card race because I don't believe in Denver. I
- 18:29Speaker 2: don't believe in the quarterback. The Chargers are dead. One
- 18:35Speaker 2: team from the AFC North is probably going to snag
- 18:38Speaker 2: a spot. You look at the AFC West, I think probably...
- 18:46Speaker 2: I think the chiefs are going to win that division.
- 18:48Speaker 2: Maybe somebody slides in the wild card. The South, I
- 18:51Speaker 2: think has one wild card and that leaves one wild
- 18:53Speaker 2: card for, for somebody in the East.
- 18:55Speaker 3: Um, I think the pads are a playoff team.
- 18:56Speaker 4: All right, we'll get to the game in a second.
- 18:58Speaker 3: I lied.
- 18:59Speaker 1: Um, Jaden Daniels, if you play defense for the commanders, uh,
- 19:03Speaker 1: how upset.
- 19:04Speaker 4: Would you be with Jaden Daniels at the end of
- 19:06Speaker 4: that game?
- 19:08Speaker 2: I don't know if it's Jaden. I don't know if
- 19:09Speaker 2: it's the coaches. I don't know what happened. Mike Tomlin
- 19:12Speaker 2: said Sunday night, like, I don't know if we'll ever
- 19:13Speaker 2: know what happened. Um, in that situation. But I'd be
- 19:18Speaker 2: pissed at the offense. I'd be pissed at the head coach.
- 19:21Speaker 2: And internally, I'd probably know what happened. So whosever fault
- 19:24Speaker 2: it was, I'd be furious. If it's Jaden, I don't
- 19:32Speaker 2: know if he knew there was a timeout. He's laying
- 19:37Speaker 2: on the ground like he thinks maybe there's a timeout.
- 19:40Speaker 4: But he didn't call one. He didn't try to call it, Chris.
- 19:41Speaker 4: That's it.
- 19:43Speaker 2: He didn't try to call one. It looked like they
- 19:45Speaker 2: weren't ready To make whatever decision needed to be made.
- 19:49Speaker 2: I mean, it made, to me, that's just– I mean,
- 19:51Speaker 2: I've never seen anything like that. I'd be furious. And
- 19:54Speaker 2: that's a veteran team. Like, it's one of the oldest
- 19:56Speaker 2: teams in the NFL. So I try to put myself
- 19:59Speaker 2: in these locker rooms when I try to figure what
- 20:01Speaker 2: their mentality is going to be going forward. I hope
- 20:04Speaker 2: that the veteran leadership can get them through this because–
- 20:09Speaker 2: That's the type of thing that can kind of, your
- 20:11Speaker 2: season's already hanging by a thread, but can kind of
- 20:14Speaker 2: break your back. You know, mentally, a team, it's hard
- 20:17Speaker 2: to come back from a loss like that.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Green light with Chris Long, wherever you get your podcast.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Quick game for you. We'll get you out of here.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Give me the imaging, guys.
- 20:27Speaker 5: There's one table left at the hottest spot in town,
- 20:30Speaker 5: and everybody wants it. Who's getting it, and who's getting
- 20:35Speaker 5: left outside? Greatness gets seated. Everyone else waits. This is
- 20:43Speaker 5: One Table.
- 20:45Speaker 1: We'll get to the game in a second. It dawned
- 20:46Speaker 1: on me I'm not your get-back coach. I'm your get-bud coach.
- 20:51Speaker 2: That's, yeah.
- 20:52Speaker 4: Yes, I'm the perfect guy.
- 20:53Speaker 3: That's exactly right.
- 20:53Speaker 1: Perfect guy for the job. All right, so Long Steakhouse
- 20:56Speaker 1: in Philadelphia. There's one table. You're in charge of who
- 20:59Speaker 1: is getting this table. One seat at the table. Two
- 21:02Speaker 1: guys walk in at the same time. It is up
- 21:05Speaker 1: to you, Chris Long. There should be a Long Steakhouse. Anyway, Taylor,
- 21:09Speaker 1: take it away.
- 21:09Speaker 3: Go ahead.
- 21:10Speaker 6: So, Chris, Brandon Graham walks in. Fletcher Cox walks in.
- 21:15Speaker 6: Who gets the table? Is this based on, what is
- 21:19Speaker 6: it based on?
- 21:20Speaker 4: It's based on who you want sitting in your restaurant.
- 21:22Speaker 4: That's all, you know.
- 21:25Speaker 3: I love both of those guys. Right.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Um, I think BG would, he would run up the
- 21:31Speaker 2: bill drinking expensive liquor and he would, we'd have to
- 21:36Speaker 2: kick him out.
- 21:36Speaker 3: He'd be talking and talking.
- 21:40Speaker 2: Um, I gotta say Fletch to me, BG is one
- 21:45Speaker 2: of the best teammates I ever had. Like bar none period.
- 21:48Speaker 2: Like he rushed all up and down the line to, to, uh,
- 21:53Speaker 2: what's the word accommodate me as a left end and
- 21:55Speaker 2: I'll never I'll never be able to thank him enough
- 21:58Speaker 2: but he can't sit there at that seat because Fletcher
- 22:01Speaker 2: Cox extended my career he was one of my favorite
- 22:04Speaker 2: players I ever played with he's one of my good
- 22:07Speaker 2: best friends probably from that team and I talked to
- 22:09Speaker 2: him last week I love Fletch he was such an
- 22:12Speaker 2: incredible player and he got me through those last couple
- 22:16Speaker 2: years as a kind of an old grumpy vet he
- 22:19Speaker 2: was so old school I just, I love Fletcher Cox.
- 22:23Speaker 3: I'll give Fletch the seat.
- 22:25Speaker 4: All right, Mikey, go ahead.
- 22:26Speaker 7: A couple of Jason's walk in Jason Kelsey and Jason Peters.
- 22:31Speaker 3: They both want the table. Wow. Jason Kelsey has got
- 22:33Speaker 3: to have the table. I love JP.
- 22:36Speaker 2: I used to play pool almost every day with JP
- 22:38Speaker 2: after practice. He was an incredible pool shark. He used
- 22:42Speaker 2: to take my money. Um, and for that, I, for
- 22:45Speaker 2: that reason, I got to give it to Kelsey.
- 22:47Speaker 3: All right plus if kelsey's.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Sitting there we get more business like people do when
- 22:51Speaker 2: kelsey 100.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Yes yes but business is fine you only have one
- 22:55Speaker 1: seat i mean.
- 22:55Speaker 3: That's it so it's the way things go.
- 22:58Speaker 1: Right but you want kelsey there uh nick foals jalen
- 23:00Speaker 1: hurts who gets it.
- 23:03Speaker 2: Well i don't know jalen i mean like i got
- 23:06Speaker 2: a lot of respect for jalen right what he's done
- 23:08Speaker 2: in philly is is cemented he's a legend but Foles
- 23:13Speaker 2: is my guy. I've known Foles a long time. We
- 23:16Speaker 2: go back to Earth City, St. Louis, when he was
- 23:18Speaker 2: a Ram, and we were both toiling in obscurity, so
- 23:22Speaker 2: I got to give Nick Foles the seat.
- 23:26Speaker 6: Nelson Aguilar walks in. Matt Collins walks in.
- 23:30Speaker 4: Who gets the table?
- 23:30Speaker 6: Oh, boy.
- 23:31Speaker 4: Matt Collins is his best friend. Be careful, Chris.
- 23:33Speaker 3: David. Dude, Mac Hollins is my guy.
- 23:36Speaker 2: I played with Mac, obviously, in Philly.
- 23:40Speaker 3: I played with Nelson as well. I love Nelson.
- 23:42Speaker 2: But Mac Hollins is a guy I've kept in touch with.
- 23:46Speaker 2: He also has really weird eating habits. I'd like to
- 23:54Speaker 2: see that in action at dinner. I'm a big Matt
- 23:57Speaker 2: Collins fan. I'll give it to Matt Collins.
- 23:58Speaker 6: Would you make him wear shoes in your restaurant?
- 24:01Speaker 3: You got to wear shoes. You got to wear shoes
- 24:03Speaker 3: in the restaurant. No shoes, no shirt, no service. That's right.
- 24:06Speaker 2: And so Nelson might be my guy, but, you know,
- 24:09Speaker 2: I'll call Nelson and say we got an opening.
- 24:14Speaker 3: Oh, man. The Rams are in town. James Laranitis walks in.
- 24:19Speaker 4: Oh, boy.
- 24:19Speaker 3: And so does Aaron Donald. Oh, boy.
- 24:20Speaker 4: He loves those guys.
- 24:22Speaker 3: I love them both.
- 24:23Speaker 1: I know.
- 24:28Speaker 4: Tough.
- 24:29Speaker 2: I got to give it, like, listen, you know, Aaron
- 24:31Speaker 2: Donald's the greatest player I've ever played with. But he
- 24:34Speaker 2: can get a reservation anywhere.
- 24:36Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:37Speaker 2: I got to give it to James. James is a
- 24:39Speaker 2: hardworking coach. You know, he's coaching for the Buckeyes. He
- 24:43Speaker 2: doesn't get out much. Give me James Laranitis.
- 24:46Speaker 1: All right, last one for you. Andy Reid, he walks in.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Nick Sirianni walks in. Who gets the seat? It's Andy Reid.
- 24:56Speaker 1: And I never, you know, and I like Sirianni.
- 24:58Speaker 2: You know, he's given me, you know, he's been real
- 25:01Speaker 2: hospitable when we've gone up there and welcomed former Eagles
- 25:04Speaker 2: into the building and the whole thing.
- 25:05Speaker 3: But I just, Andy Reid's a legend.
- 25:07Speaker 2: To get a chance to sit down and show Andy
- 25:11Speaker 2: Reid what kind of expensive wines we have, like bring
- 25:13Speaker 2: out the menu, have him like look it over really closely,
- 25:18Speaker 2: pick his brain about football. I'm an Andy Reid fan,
- 25:22Speaker 2: and I would love to have Andy Reid in my restaurant.
- 25:24Speaker 6: So this long steakhouse is in Charlottesville, Virginia. Wow, expanding.
- 25:29Speaker 6: Thomas Jones walks in. Tiki Barber walks in.
- 25:32Speaker 3: Who gets the table? Oh, boy. That's a tough one.
- 25:35Speaker 2: If you just said Rondé, I'd give it to Rondé. Rondé,
- 25:39Speaker 2: I mean, like, listen, I love Tiki. I just don't
- 25:41Speaker 2: know him as well as Rondé. You know, Tiki's a
- 25:43Speaker 2: really good dude. But I'm a defensive player, so I
- 25:47Speaker 2: would have gone Rondé. Thomas Jones. I give it to
- 25:53Speaker 2: Thomas Jones. He comes in and says he's Rondé.
- 25:56Speaker 3: That could be confusing.
- 26:00Speaker 4: Tiki doesn't get it. Hey, I'm Rondé.
- 26:04Speaker 3: I mean, I'm Rondé. That could definitely be confusing.
- 26:08Speaker 2: But I would say Thomas Jones. Thomas Jones is– I'm
- 26:13Speaker 2: sure you guys don't know Thomas Jones, but he's just
- 26:15Speaker 2: a fantastic dude.
- 26:16Speaker 3: I've run into him at UVA games a lot.
- 26:19Speaker 2: Over the past five years, and I would be glad
- 26:22Speaker 2: to serve Thomas Jones.
- 26:23Speaker 3: I'd be glad to serve any of them, honestly.
- 26:26Speaker 1: All right, let's get this done. Long Steakhouse and you
- 26:28Speaker 1: and I coaching together, okay?
- 26:30Speaker 3: Dude, I would love that. Yes. And maybe you can
- 26:32Speaker 3: get in on owning the business with me.
- 26:35Speaker 4: I'm in. Let's do it.
- 26:36Speaker 3: Okay.
- 26:37Speaker 4: That sounds good, dude. I'll just walk around the restaurant.
- 26:39Speaker 4: All I do is walk.
- 26:40Speaker 3: I just, yes. It's B-Y-O-B, too.
- 26:42Speaker 4: Bring your own bud?
- 26:43Speaker 3: Yes. No, bring your own beer, too. You can bring
- 26:46Speaker 3: your own bud, but you bring your own beer.
- 26:47Speaker 5: All right. Buds.
- 26:48Speaker 4: All right, I'll have the buds.
- 26:49Speaker 3: Yeah, dude.
- 26:50Speaker 5: Yes.
- 26:51Speaker 3: Yes, buds. Buds, yes.
- 26:53Speaker 2: Yes.
- 26:54Speaker 4: We're on to something.
- 26:57Speaker 1: If you and I just keep walking and talking, we'll
- 26:59Speaker 1: figure out life, I promise you.
- 27:01Speaker 3: We're going to figure it out, bro.
- 27:02Speaker 2: We still got to make it to the Enchanted Forest
- 27:05Speaker 2: in San Francisco, bro. You know, I ended up never
- 27:08Speaker 2: going at the Super Bowl.
- 27:10Speaker 6: This is the problem with your guys' plans. You guys
- 27:13Speaker 6: make all these grand plans, and then Chris goes on
- 27:15Speaker 6: a roof and then just whale watches from the Golden
- 27:17Speaker 6: Gate Bridge.
- 27:19Speaker 2: I'm glad you remember that because that's what did it.
- 27:21Speaker 2: I just couldn't leave the roof. The whales were just majestic, man.
- 27:25Speaker 2: I wish I was there with you.
- 27:26Speaker 3: We're ADHD, man.
- 27:28Speaker 4: We can't sit still and figure things out.
- 27:31Speaker 2: Time blindness, dude.
- 27:33Speaker 3: You can't make plans. Oh, God.
- 27:35Speaker 1: Green light with Chris Long, wherever you get your podcast.
- 27:37Speaker 1: You're fantastic, dude. We love talking to you. Thank you
- 27:40Speaker 1: for doing this. We'll do it again soon.
- 27:42Speaker 3: It's great talking to you, Stu. Y'all take it easy.
- 27:44Speaker 3: All right, man. Thanks.
